Moving quietly, Draco stepped from section to section until he found a balcony that overlooked where he thought the noise had come from. On the library’s lower level, a massive, stained glass window cast a massive beam of moonlight, a spotlight, really, onto the worn carpet below. More laughter, and then two figures came into view. It was still too dark to make them out, but one had a distinctly feminine silhouette, tall and slight, with layers of dark brown hair, while the other was taller, wiry, with a mop of ebony curls.

They were… dancing.

The girl moved gracefully, the steps seemingly burned into her memory, while it was clear that the boy was only following her, struggling to keep up. As the girl tipped her head up to let out another laugh, her hair swept back and Draco saw it.

Vivienne .

And the boy was Harry.

Draco wanted to turn away, knew he should, knew he wasn’t supposed to be here for this, but he stayed regardless, his feet planted to the ground in spite of the growing emotions swirling inside him.

“I’m telling you, you won’t get it overnight, Harry. I don’t care if you’re a prodigy at everything you so much as touch.” Vivienne jokingly scolded, waving her hand at him dramatically. “Again. One , two, three, one , two, three-”

Harry’s response was to tread on her toes, which sent her into another fit of giggles. “I don’t get how you can move like that, you look like you’re floating.”

“Years of practice waltzing at my parent’s social circle’s fancy parties, that’s how.”

Harry winced. “Moments like these make me grateful for not having parents.” He took Vivienne in his arms again, and the two moved together, and Draco felt sick.

Draco turned to leave, but not quickly enough to keep Vivienne from seeing the flash of silver jewellery stepping back from the bannister.

She chose to pretend she hadn’t seen anything at all.

Sirius Black Appreciation Post

Time to celebrate Sirius Black's birthday by highlighting my favorite canon facts 🥳

Sirius is tall. We're talking at least 6'.

He's intelligent AF. He became an Animagus at 15. He charmed a Muggle motorbike to fly (Arthur couldn't do that with a car, Sirius did it in his late teens, latest at age 20). He escaped from Azkaban. He got a cat to order a racing broom. My man is brilliant, no doubt about it.

Sirius has a complicated relationship with his mother and it is *not* merely hatred. Note that he did not destroy his mother's portrait, or slash it as he did with the Fat Lady's. I'm confident that he could've figured out a way to destroy it or otherwise get rid of it, but he doesn't. His refuge is in his mother's old room with Buckbeak. There's something very complicated in his relationship with his family that can't be labeled as simple loathing. Sirius may have run away from home at 15/16, but his background 100% shaped him and left its mark on his personality and psyche.

Sirius was good friends with Lily. The letter from Lily to Sirius is great proof of that - it wasn't James who wrote that letter, but LILY. Sirius was smiling and genuinely happy at Jily's wedding.

Sirius is emotionally driven, and lashes out *with good reason.* When he goes after Wormtail the night the Potters died, it's because Harry is taken away from him. He has nothing to hold him down - and even gives his motorbike to Hagrid. When he tries to get to Wormtail in PoA, he slashes the portrait but doesn't harm a single boy in his search for the rat. When he goes to the Department of Mysteries, his focus is on Harry. These are good reasons, even if it puts him in danger.

Sirius has a great sense of humor. He puts little Santa hats on the decapitated elf heads. He chases pigeons as Padfoot just to make Harry smile. He sends a good luck note with a muddy paw print. He is scathingly funny, when he derides Peter's hero worship of James in Snape's Worst Memory. He's bitter and sarcastic. We love to see it.

Sirius is a baby boomer. He was born in 1959. "Ok, boomer," is an applicable retort.

Sirius is not misogynistic. He does not hate women. He is often kinder to women than men. He helps Ginny up in OoTP. No matter how angry he gets at Molly, he is never, ever physical with her (unlike the way Sirius is with snape, who he does get physically aggressive with). He is kind to Hermione. He had a great relationship with Lily. Even in the end, his last words to Bellatrix are 'you can do better than that.'

Sirius does not have a canonical love interest.

Sirius is willing to challenge Dumbledore. This is an important point - with so many people deferring to Dumbledore's judgment, including Remus, the Weasleys, and Harry - Sirius will challenge him and his decisions. He may not get his way, but Sirius has the personal strength and confidence to challenge one of the greatest wizards of all time.

Sirius was great with animals. Crookshanks and Buckbeak are prime examples of this.

Sirius is deeply flawed: he can get very intense. He can be rash, even if he has good reasons. He can be bitter to the point of hurting others ('the risk would've made it fun for James'). He can be cruel and condescending (my robes have enough filth without you touching them/wormail will piss himself with excitement). He can be callous (wishing it was the full moon, sending Snape on a potentially deadly adventure). He's a hurricane of deep, complex emotions.

Canon Sirius would obliterate fanon Sirius.

Happy birthday, Sirius. You would've loved James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. You'd have had the time of your life at Hinny's wedding. You are an absolute king.

🍦 - I personally find it hard to fully hate a character. curious if you see this as a false premise or if there is a character that fits the bill.

🍦 ⇢ name three good things about a character you hate

There are two ways to hate a character: hating them as a theoretical person (e.g. they're a good villain and they've successfully stirred your resentment as a reader) and hating them a character who exists in the text (e.g. you're just sick of hearing about this dude). I'll go with the first one: Severus Snape is written so you're supposed to hate him, and he's the perfect villain for the early Harry Potter books. He gets infected with later-installment weirdness because of Sudden Third-Act Backstory and Villain Creep, but in Books 1-3, he just nails the vibe of That One Teacher who hates their life and has decided to make it your problem for no fucking reason. Three good things about him:

(1) Snape is objectively a genius, or somewhere near to it. By any estimation. He's the youngest member of the Hogwarts staff by a decade at least, apparently has been working as a fully-fledged professor there since he was twenty-fucking-two, and was making corrections to a published Potions textbook at age 16. He also started inventing spells as a teenager — an activity so dangerous it killed Luna Lovegood's mother — and performs Occlumency so flawlessly that Voldemort himself doesn't suspect anything. (He still thinks Snape has been loyal when he kills him!) He's kind of the Mary Sue of the Harry Potter universe: if there's a magical skill out there, Snape probably has it and mastered it, he's just too busy fucking up his own life for anyone to notice.

(2) On the rare occasions that it comes out, Snape has a really good sense of humor, it's just that it's usually at Harry's expense, so you as the reader aren't so much amused as irritated by it. His interactions with Lockhart, in particular, are iconic. There are few things in the books as satisfying as Snape doing a withering takedown of some absolute goon who's been annoying you for 200 pages.

(3) Weathered the crippling death blow of "there is no need to call me sir, professor" in a classroom full of teenage kids and didn't assassinate Harry on the spot, and/or resign. Big ups for that. Shows resilience.

On a Wednesday, In a Café

(For @phoebe-delia who puts up with me and lets me pop in to ask things like WHO INSULTED TAYLOR SWIFT’S SENSE OF HUMOR?? This is just a tiny little vignette inspired by Start Again. I think this also fits for @drarrymicrofic and the prompt “hope” - in a way.)

The café is weirdly busy for a Wednesday morning.

Draco is moderately disgruntled. He’s used to having the place to himself — his Wednesday mornings are sacred. It’s the one day of the week he can sleep in, as he doesn’t have to be at work until after lunch, and he loves coming to this small, cosy coffee shop. He always gets the same thing, the largest café au lait they serve with two shots of vanilla and whatever savoury scone they’re baking that day, and he always sits in the same place, one of the big comfy overstuffed armchairs in the corner by the fireplace. He reads whatever journal he’s brought along and he eats his scone and he drinks his coffee and it’s just. Really nice. That’s all.

Okay, at least today, no one is in the other armchair, so when Draco sits down and pulls out his journal, maybe it’s a little louder than usual, but things are still fine in his world. He’s managed to tune out the sounds of the people around him, reduced them to background white noise as he reads up on the latest innovations in cauldron technology (spoiler alert: InstantCauldron™ is a misnomer because it does not, in fact, do all the prep work for you even if it does brew in less than half the time a standard cauldron takes, so there’s really nothing Instant about it, not that Draco is bitter). In any case, he’s focused on what he’s reading which is why at first he doesn’t really register the words that he’s hearing.

“Did you hear about…”

“I read that…”

“Did you know he…”

And Draco doesn’t even have to look up to know what’s happened.

Potter is here.

Draco slowly lowers the journal to his lap and learns that he is, in fact correct. Standing at the counter in a pair of ratty jeans and a giant hoodie is one Harry James Potter. His hair is ridiculous and his trainers have seen far, far better days, but he is, as always, infuriatingly handsome.

Except for the tension that Draco can read clearly in his shoulders, the way his eyebrows furrow in a frown, and the way he’s glaring suspiciously at the cashier. He has his reasons, Draco knows.

Late last year, some eight months ago now, Potter had come home from a mission to find his live-in lover in bed with not one, but two young men. Not just any young men, it turned out, but two young men who were high on the Ministry’s Most Wanted List. Potter had arrested them all on the spot (Draco has to give him credit for a cool head under what had to have been rather stressful conditions). When the now-ex was out on bail, the first thing he’d done was go to the press and air all of Potter’s… Well, not dirty laundry exactly. None of what Potter gets up to in his own bed chamber is particularly sordid or shocking (some of it sounds like great fun, actually) but it is, well, private.

And privacy is a luxury Harry James Potter has had very little of.

Potter accepts his drink, and turns around, eyes scanning the room as if searching for the knife he knows is aimed at his back, but then he catches sight of Draco and something very strange happens.

Potter’s shoulders drop, the lines in his forehead smooth out, and then, shockingly, he smiles.

Draco blinks in confusion but no, his eyes are not deceiving him. Potter is raising his cup to his lips and taking a sip, never breaking eye contact, and then, after he swallows, that smile still playing about his beautiful lips, he starts walking toward Draco.

“Anyone sitting here?” His voice is low as he nods towards the empty chair next to Draco and for a moment, all Draco can do is stare at him, dumbfounded.

“Malfoy?” Potter prompts and Draco shakes his head.

“Oh, sorry. No. No one’s sitting there,” and to Draco’s deep astonishment, Potter sits down.

Potter leans back, cross one leg over his threadbare knee, and takes another sip.

“So,” he says, “how have you been?”

Professional Sports in Harry Potter Don't Make Sense.

In Britain and Ireland, there are 14 professional quidditch teams, with a reserve team as backup, making a total of at least 28 full teams worth of players. That makes a total of at least 196 professional quidditch players in the league.

Conversely, there are 4 Hogwarts House Teams, each with some semblance of a reserve; we will give the benefit of the doubt and assume it is a full teams worth of reservists. (I doubt this is true because Ginny has to move to Seeker from Chaser, but humor me.) That means at any given moment at Hogwarts there are give or take 56 people on quidditch teams. It is safe to assume that, given Hogwarts is the equivalent of a school sports team and the only opportunity to play competitively before pros, to make a pro team you would've had to make your house's team at Hogwarts.

Oliver Wood is the best quidditch player (probably bar Ginny Weasley) that we see in the series, and he is only good enough to make the reservists of Puddlemere United. This suggests that people on the reserve teams at Hogwarts wouldn't be good enough to make a professional team if the best keeper we see in the series is only worthy of a reserve spot. Which takes the number of players a pro-team would scout at Hogwarts from 56 down to just the starting 28, give or take a few rotating starters on some of the teams.

However, people -particularly the skilled starters pros would be considering- play on the quidditch team for multiple, sometimes many, years at Hogwarts (See: Harry making it first year; Draco, Fred, George, and Oliver all making it as second years, etc.). So there aren't 28 quidditch team starters graduating any given year. There's, generously, probably a quidditch team's worth of starters and a quidditch team's worth of reservists graduating any given year. (It's actually probably less than that if we did the math on when each player joined their team, but we'll give the benefit of the doubt.). That's about 7 starters and 7 reservists, but again pros probably aren't looking at reservists if Oliver Wood himself barely gets the time of day.

But not everyone who is a starter goes on to play professional quidditch.

If we're saying there's 7 starters worth of graduates in a given year. Let's take just one year of one quidditch team at Hogwarts and see the conversion rate to pro quidditch. The starters for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team in 93/94 when they won the Cup (so a very good team) were: Oliver Wood, Fred and George Weasley, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnett, Angelina Johnson, and Harry Potter. We know for a fact that Oliver Wood went pro. We know for a fact that the Weasleys and Harry didn't (although, the Weasley twins especially definitely could have). Let's generously assume that, without our knowledge, two of the remaining three players went pro: Katie Bell and Alicia Spinnett.

That means if these 7 are representative of the 7 starters who would graduate in a given year, Hogwarts, the only wizarding school in Britain, is turning out 3 professional quidditch players in a year.

That means. The average career of a professional quidditch player would have to be 65 years.

If we take Fred and George out of the equation and acknowledge them for the anomalies they are: two players who absolutely could have and should have gone pro and would've made bank doing so, and we presume that anyone else similarly situated to them would've gone pro, meaning 5 out of 7 Hogwarts starters go pro each year, not 3 (and this is still assuming that we just didn't know it but Katie and Alicia went pro, which doesn't seem likely but again, benefit of the doubt.). That still leaves the average career of a quidditch player at 40 years.

And before you come at me saying they aren't just pulling from Britain. America and Canada both have a full league and only one school churning out players. France has a league and only one school churning out players. SEVERAL other countries in Europe have leagues with only four schools: Beauxbaton, Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and that Russian one I don't remember the name of. And the Russian one doesn't even play real quidditch they fly on trees or some shit, so they aren't really contributing to the player pool for any of the leagues. All that to say, there can't be a MASSIVE influx of foreign players. Sure, there must be some, but there's such a demand for players to fill all these other leagues that any influx of foreign players must balance out with how many they send abroad because there's just too many teams and not enough people.

MOREOVER.

Who the fuck is seeking?!

Cedric Diggory, Draco Malfoy, and Harry Potter are three of the starting seekers on House Teams at Hogwarts for the vast majority of the books, and their respective professions are : Dead, Fucked Off, and Auror. The fourth seeker for the majority of the books is Cho Chang, and while we don't technically know her profession; she's an important enough character we would probably know if it was professional quidditch, and we do know she lived in the Muggle world at least because she married a Muggle which doesn't really lend itself to the idea she went quidditch pro. And the Gryffindor Seeker prior to Harry was Charlie fucking Weasley who definitely didn't go pro.

So, if we make the very safe assumption that Cho Chang did not go pro, than in the last decade, Hogwarts has only produced 3 possible seekers, the one Malfoy replaced, the one Cho replaced, and the one that replaced Cedric. So who is seeking these fucking snitches because there's a serious lack of seekers?!

If I'm turning out 3 seekers in a ten year period, presuming they're all worthy of playing pro, that puts the career span of seekers at like fucking 90 years.

Like... I'm not great at math, but even I know this is some bullshit.

I'm not convinced Mituna isn't bad representation. Of course, there is a lot of dubious stuff in Homestuck. And I'm not saying you can't consume something critically. But I can't help feeling a hypocrite for boycotting Rowling and continuing to ignore the dubious stuff in homestuck (especially the use of the r*t*** word). I guess you could say that at least Hussie developed and learnt from their mistakes (not true for Rowling is it)... Is that a good enough excuse to continue to like Homestuck?

Yeah no, I said I don't think I could say he's good rep, at all.

However, I am going to make my stance on this very clear. 'Especially the use of the r slur'.

Homestuck is an indie Fandom Internet thing, that started as a parody of CYOA comics of the era, and has humor that is very of its era, as well as inherent biases of Hussie being a white American- Including, as you mentioned, the use of slurs, or racial insensitivity, and ableist stuff through the entirety of its run.

It doesn't matter how much you hate Homestuck. It doesn't matter whether you think any of this is redeemable or forgivable. Without even looking at the Authors and what they've done with their fame, Harry Potter is a mainstream franchise to an extent Homestuck could never be. Homestuck is an Internet Meme. Harry Potter is a Cultural Phenomenon. If you find a lone Homestuck reference in some new TV show, you point at it in surprise like "WHAT?". If a series has an Entire Episode parodying Harry Potter, it's almost basically expected. Even if they were equivalent in what they do wrong- With they're not- The reach and impact of these two franchises are entirely incomparable.

But then take, also, the Authors of the content. Hussie grew up alongside their work, work which queer youth related to, and they embraced it, and even eventually came out as non-binary themself. They let WP handle the franchise, with Hiveswap and HS^2- Regardless of what your personal opinion on the WP Team and any of what they've done may be, it's a largely queer group of artists and writers and musicians, who were given an 'official' blessing by Hussie to go wild, and they brought a lot of creativity and good rep to the table and interesting talking points. Take Homestuck. Take Psycholonials. At its core, there's an inherently queer, leftist narrative, interesting conversation regarding identity and what it means to Be, and growing up in different circumstances, and being friends with a bunch of people online, and dealing with the climate of world around us.

Then take Rowling, who's used her fame to promote blatant transphobia and cause harm- Tangible, real harm in UK Politics, to trans youth, who's emboldened transphobes and strengthened the TERF Movement, and whose work is entrenched in antisemitism, among other things, whose most recent work reads like an 'I'm not owned, I'm not owned!' scream villifying trans disabled youth and painting an analogue for herself as some helpless victim, and it's like...

I'm not saying Homestuck is perfect, god no. I am not saying you have to like it. I'm not saying you have to forgive Hussie for any of the times they have fucked up, or that they're beyond criticism. But dear God they're not the same, they're on two completely different scales, and if your sense of morality makes you feel that liking Homestuck is the same as liking Harry Potter, you need to re-evaluate how you gauge morality and harmful media.

And on that topic...

'Is there an excuse?' Why are you seeking, externally, for an excuse to consume media? Why do you need external validation in order to determine whether media is 'redeemable' before you can consume it? Only you can determine how much you can put up with Something until it becomes Not For You. Personally? I think what Hussie tried to convey with Homestuck, its themes, its characters, and the kind of author Hussie has shown to be, as well as how Homestuck has developed in general over the years, is really nice, and I still enjoy Homestuck, and I am going to keep enjoying Homestuck, no matter how many prior points are framed as problematic, or how many times something Hussie said once is brought up, unless Hussie did like, a 180 turn and started weaponizing Homestuck for queer hatred and an overt call to genocide or shit like that, which... Doesn't just happen, you know- Meanwhile in that same vein, Harry Potter has become entrenched, in my mind, with all the harm Rowling has caused, its monetization is being actively used to harm people like me, and Terfs have co-opted it entirely as a Dogwhistle. Those are my values. That's what I believe. Your values and what you believe may differ from mine.

How dare you. It's only been a few paragraphs but I'm already emotional. Poor R doesn't deserve all this guilt and trauma!! And Sam!! Already off to a rough start with her blaming R for the attack. Don't make me fight Sam, she better stop this nonsense soon.

Awww R is already smitten with Sammy. Who wouldn't be. She's so hot when she's all grumpy and angry. At least Tara has our back!

Lol why would it fit perfectly for Mindy ti get stuck in a revolving door. OMFG A FUN SIZED LORD FARQUAAD!?!? I choked on my cookie, that's spot on 😂

Oh Sammy. Protectiveness is one thing but I'm also sensing some unresolved feelings here. That's why Sam is being such a bitch because if she keeps on holding that grudge and blame towards R, then she doesn't need to face the reality of her feelings.

Ooh some teasing is going on. It's okay Sam, I won't tell anyone that you actually have a sense of humor. But this scene was a perfect example of Sam's complicated character. Being this grumpy person all the time is hard, especially when you're talking to your crush, so of course she will let her guard down a bit once in a while. But as soon as she notices what she did, she's back to being a bitch. That's Sam's way of protecting herself and staying in control. Being vulnerable is not something that Sam likes, it makes her feel uncomfortable. So, even though she feels bad for how she's treating R, she can't actually apologize or change just yet because she's simply not comfortable enough.

Welp. Okay then. The next paragraph is Sam being completely vulnerable and open so just forget my above mentioned thoughts. Sammy is just a complicated and complex woman. Yes, she may be a bitch to R to protect herself and her feelings but she's still human and needs some comfort.

...the Boygenius callout. But honestly? I really don't understand the hype and what their concept is. Sam truly is my spirit animal!! SAM NO!! DON'T CAVE IN!! STOP LISTENING NOOO!

Okay, the banter between R and Tara here is top notch!! Every line is so hilarious. No Sam, we do not throat punch the people we love! AWWW R IS SUCH A CONSIDERATE CUTIE PIE!! Sam needed that encouragement. R basically telling her that she's proud of her is everything Sam never knew she needed. Sam is slowly letting R break down her walls bit by bit. She's slowly starting to care for R and see her in a different light.

OMG A NOT-DATE DATE IS HAPPENING!! People calm down! AND A KISS HAPPENED!! Sam really just needed some more time to figure out her own feelings and to let herself be vulnerable. She's fighting an inner battle between being a strong, independent woman that she's been her entire life and a more unguarded, open person that she's not used to being.

The pineapple slut shirt!!! Don't you own the same one?? Lol, taking inspiration form your own terrible fashion sense 😉

These two idiots are so soft, I love them. They're very obviously dancing around their feelings with neither of them being brave enough to make it official. Sam is just basking in the comfort R brings and R is too scared to lose Sam.

Fics where Sam is a bitch with a big heart are my favorite. You really perfected writing Sam complex character so well. She's a softie deep down but it takes time and patience for her to not only accept this fact but also to actively live in out. She always needs an extra push and encouragement for her to let her walls down and accept her vulnerability. This was a masterpiece, I love it Grace!

My favorite part about writing for Sam, is including the banter between Tara and R. R is such a caring person and then there’s Sam, who’s standing with her hands on her hips and saying, “No.”

The date but not really a date was added last minute too!! And we were rewarded with a kiss, which is a win in my book!

Favorite Male: Albus Dumbledore (He's my favorite character overall - so complicated and layered with so many shades of grey! Such a great sense of humor! So many great quotes!)

Favorite Female: Luna Lovegood (We'd totally be besties if we went to Hogwarts at the same time - especially because I'd be in Ravenclaw too. I had a couple friends in college who were a very similar flavor of dreamy-and-thought-of-as-odd-but-actually-super-cool.)

Favorite Pairing: Hmm...probably Romione, mostly because we got to see its slow development up close. I can't stand them being dumb jerks to each other and others in HBP, but in a way that makes it even more satisfying to see them mature into an actually good, supportive couple in DH.

Least Favorite Character: Dolores Umbridge (Isn't she everyone's?)

Most Like Me: .____________. *blank stare* I'm...not sure any of them are much like me at all. I identify with little bits and pieces of characters here and there, but they're often so much larger than life that I don't really see much similarity with boring ol' me. I mean...I would love to say that I'm like Griselda Marchbanks, the inspiration for my writing pseudonym, but...I'm not really. I guess if I have to pick someone, I'll go with Remus Lupin - particularly as he was in his Hogwarts years. A good student, amazed to discover that he actually has friends, too afraid to speak up or stop them from doing what he knows is wrong, for fear of being alone again. Yep. That could be me.

Most Attractive: Sirius Black (Please note I'm going from my imagination when reading the books, not from the movies. Gary Oldman is great and all, but...sorry, I don't find him particularly attractive. The Sirius who lives rent-free in my brain, on the other hand, especially pre-Azkaban....)

Happy happy birthday iota! Today we celebrate two of my favourite fandom people, the power that you guys hold 😌 This list was supposed to be published later on in the series but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to scream again about your wonderful work. It’s been lovely to share this fandom space with you, and to get to know you better in the last few months. I’ve been in love with your fics ever since I read Waiting for that Feeling and now I finally get to share a proper reclist with your hidden gems!

I’ve told you this before but the first word that comes to mind when I think of your writing is “refreshing”. Your characters are a charming mix of open and tentative, a bit bold and a bit shy, and I can never guess what they’re doing or saying next, which is really exciting because it keeps me engaged at all times. I love how your Harry and Draco have such unique and interesting personalities; considering so many authors focus on Draco’s POV, your Harry has quickly become one of the most captivating takes I’ve seen on him lately.

Whenever I’m reading a iota fic I’m surprised by an unexpected joke that makes me snort out loud, or a subtle confession that makes me take a deep breath and go back to reread that line a few times. I love your brand of slice-of-life, light and fun but also contemplative and so so sexy (honestly, I haven’t seen someone make T and M content this sexy in a long time!) with low key angst, clever humor, engaging dialogue and A+ purposeful flirting. Your delicious UST and fab sense of humour got me immediately obsessed with both Heartlines and A Truth - I remember thinking “Wow iota has such a cool VIBE and I love it!”. Being in such a big fandom surrounded by many talented authors, I think it’s impressive that you found a strong, unique voice and are able to come up with original ways to approach these characters and tropes.

I’m always excited when I see you’ve posted a new fic because I know it’s gonna be a lovely treat perfectly crafted to meet my tastes. My picks probably aren’t a surprise to anyone - least of all iota 😂 - as I’ve been praising these gems for a while now. Eavesdrop (2021, T, 1k) - technically a microfic but I like it so much I wanted to include a small review. I love this concept and how iota gives them so much character here, jealous Harry is so hot! They come together nice and easy, and the hopeful ending left me wanting all the 8th year sneaking around (sorry, Michael!)

The walls at the Leaky Cauldron were paper thin. Harry knew this because he could hear Malfoy next door.

Market Saturdays (2021, M, 3.2k) - you know what they say, market romance is peak romance!!! This domestic fluff is everything I didn’t know I needed, I’ve read this fic multiple times and it never fails to make my heart ache with sweet tenderness for them. This gentle short story will cleanse your skin and cure your anxiety, results guaranteed or your money back 👌🏼

In which Harry is an accidental part-time cheesemonger, Draco is an organic farmer and they fall in love. Not an AU.

Waiting for that Feeling (2021, T, 3.8k) - road trip my beloved! This is a breathtaking and immersive friends to lovers tale with light angst, a perfect Ronald Weasley and soft contemplative vibes. It was my very first iota fic and it became an instant fave, I’ll always have a special spot for it inside my heart.

Draco Malfoy has a car and Harry Potter is on the case! Featuring Muggle car repair, a road trip to Cornwall, and falling in love in a Ford Fiesta. Read my rec here.

Postcards From Italy (2021, E, 6k) - the CMBYN AU we deserve! This fic combines delicious summery vibes with the gorgeous Italian aesthetique and a sexy, organic and quite charming acquaintances-to-lovers get together. I wanna live inside this pool party/nightclub/bathtub perfect universe, please and thank!

A pool party, a nightclub, a bathtub. Draco Malfoy is the last person Harry expected to run into the summer before his third year of university, but he's not complaining (at least not anymore).

Not Nineteen Forever (2022, E, 6k) - I still can’t believe this wonderful de-aging goodness was written for Liv day! This is a perfect Auror partners romance with the BEST sassy 19yo Draco, pining Harry, sweet friends to lovers with adorable flirting and a nod to Daddy kink 😳 basically everything I love in one place, sweet and clever and smutty as all lovely things iota creates.

A rogue charm hits on a mission and suddenly, Draco is nineteen again. Harry is still thirty-five and doing his best to look after his de-aged Auror partner (and forget about his long unrequited crush) until St. Mungo’s can brew the antidote. Only, Draco insists on wandering around Harry’s flat wearing nothing but Harry’s pants, flirting like his life depends on it and in the end, Harry’s only human after all. Read my rec here.

A Truth Universally Acknowledged (2021, M, 17k) - the ultimate P&P-inspired Drarry with perfect enemies to fuck buddies to friends (and lovers). Harry’s voice and want for Draco! The urgent sneaking around! The countryside romance! This fic is so so good it left me a bit incoherent, please expect a proper rec as soon as I stop screaming about this.

A year out from the war, Harry agrees to accompany Hermione on a historical walking tour of Pride and Prejudice. Not in the itinerary: running into Draco Malfoy, setting off a summer of stately homes, lavish parties, resentful shagging, and maybe, falling in love.

Heartlines (2022, T, 22k) - my favorite Cluefest this year, excellent and intriguing case fic with sentient Houses, competent Auror!Harry, surprising and brilliant sense of humour, delicious slow burn with clever dialogue and tons of UST! This fic is sexy, mysterious, funny and charming all at once, definitely a must read.

Just as Draco Malfoy's life seems to be getting back on track, the magic at Malfoy Manor is spinning out of control. Auror partners Harry Potter and Angelina Johnson are assigned to the case and quickly find that nothing about the situation is obvious. ok so this is my first time doing match up i kinda know who im gonna get but i wanted to try anyways (in my delulu era btw)

so im 21, entp, leo sun libra moon cancer rising, virgo mercury, cancer venus, sagittarius mars, 160 cm, i am afab and i am mostly comfortable with the gender i was assigned at birth but is this really important idk

lmy hobbies include talking and with talking i mean lots of talking(i was in the debate team in high-school), walking, biking, binge watching, cooking and baking, and of course listening music. i usually listen emotional songs or songs to go crazy no in between. for example i listen mitski at least an hour a day but i also listen the most energetic stuff out there like crayon pop bar bar bar. i really love languages and linguistics. i love dc comics, my favorite character is zatanna. i love playing videogames and especially if it is with my friends. zatanna is my favorite thing in the world btw but i can talk about batman and batfamily nonstop.

i usually get along with everyone but i am kinda paranoid believing that they don't actually like me. like they usually say that i am kind, friendly and cool but it doesn't convince me. i have a cat named robin bc i am the batman duh... i love her she is my rock. i study english language teaching. some say im manipulative but i honestly have no idea what im doing to manipulate them? i have a pretty dark sense of humor but it is not offensive at the slightest. i bully ppl i love but i also worship them again no in-between. i am respectful and helpful but if it is my family i am the opposite bc of the trauma lol.

and the things i dislike include harry potter(im the biggest hater ngl), iron man, scarlet witch, the music eva max is doing(but in the most respectful way), harry styles(not in a respectful way i despise this man), people who say superman is boring, selfishness, not putting an effort to understand other people's feelings, most men, people constantly criticizing me, myself, people who say astrology is stupid

what my potential partner can do to make me happy: they can draw zatanna for me im a simple person i love zatanna and everything they do that is slightly related to zatanna would automatically make me happy, cuddling sessions, trolling people on the internet together, them being patient with me, them liking my cooking/baking, having inside jokes together, them getting my sense of humour, them being my safe space, them being happy, them listening/reading/watching the list i made for them and linking it, them doing the same to me, them telling me their struggles and thinking that i understand them, them not getting mad at me

has a little boy named milo franklin with pete davidson. he was born march 25, 2019. ariana and pete share custody of milo and have a pretty healthy co-parenting lifestyle and they do things as a family frequently so milo has the experience of having two parents vs. mom one week and dad the next
