jenny holzer inflammatory essays <3 i stood on the stairs and read every single one (there aren’t as many as it looks. each one is on here on about two columns, i think. still a long time to stand there) and i was in the way and people had to walk around me but i was like psssh this is an art gallery if they’re gonna display art here then i’m gonna look at it here. and then afterward i went up and stood by the barrier above the stairs and actually i could read the text reasonably well. so. maybe i did not in fact have to stand in everybody’s way. but whatever

anyone need a couple sets of antique knitting needles? i might have a few extras here :P
#these are all from a lot my dad got from the rummage section of an estate sale#(which basically means there were a bunch of odds and ends that no one wanted left after the main auction part of the sale#and they were selling it off for really low prices)#it was all these needles + a plastic tub (one of those big grey ones) of crochet thread + like 3 totes worth of fabric???#and an assortment of thread and random other bits and pieces#he got the whole assortment for about $70 because he figured I might want the fabric at least#most of it is sitting out in the garage (the cat slept in it for a while) and needs to be sorted through and washed before anything#can be done with it#but there are some solid pieces out there!#and of course all these knitting needles 😂#I’m not sure what to do with most of these as I already have most of the sizes represented here#but I don’t wanna just give them to goodwill/the local pet charity thrift shop like I usually would? I feel like I should keep them for now#and maybe give them away as I find actual people who could use them#idk it’s not like I find people who are in dire need of knitting needles especially often in my day to day life 😂#(ok hang on that’s a lie—I work in the needle art department of a crafts store. I actually *do* encounter that on a daily basis#just not as much in my personal life as in the hours I spend at my job)#we’ll see what I end up doing with these but for now I guess I’m keeping them until God sends me someone they’re meant for#mobile#gurt says stuff#knitting#needle art

Today is Dungeons & Daddies’s 5th Anniversary!
Tumblr media
I haven’t been listening for nearly that long but the podcast and all its characters means a lot to me. Happy Anniversary!!!
Throwing the cropped sections under the cut because there’s a lot of stuff going on and I know Tumblr likes to throw half the pixel quality out the window. And also so I can ramble a bit about this piece!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This piece has been months in the making, possibly an entire year. And by that I mean I’ve had a sketch of the comp scribbled on my whiteboard for ages because I wanted to save this specifically for 5th anni art. Now onto design stuff!
(First off a random thought: I really love how the garlic knot came out, I kind of want it as an enamel pin.)
I knew I wanted to make this a stained glass piece since the beginning, but I was also going to add flowers at one point but quickly dropped the idea. It felt like too much and I also didn’t want to fuss over flower language assignments for everyone. I was also going to add Doodler tentacles, but also dropped that idea pretty early. Kind of on accident, right at the end, I figured out how to make it even more stained glass-like but taking a duplicated lineart underneath the regular layer and turning the brightness all the way down, then setting it to overlay and adding a guassian blur. It’s very subtle but it adds that tiny bit of depth that makes it look more real. As for shading on the lineart/gold, I tried adding more highlight on the characters who died but once I evened everything out it wasn’t as noticeable anymore so I’m throwing that thought here so the attempt at least known lol.
The order of characters only changed a little bit from my original comp, I flipped the Wilsons and the Oaks so the rainbow could work. As for the anchors, specifically in season 2, I lined them up to the teens since the season 1 anchors lined up with each dad:
Tony —> Scary: his death was the beginning of Scary’s betrayal arc and also Willy killed him.
Guitar Pick —> Taylor: it’s not really aligned with Taylor at all, but the anchor was with Glenn so I put it next to his blunt.
Scroll —> Normal: was only because it was the last left to give him, but there’s the whole scene of him and Hermie in the Green Room so it still works!
Garlic Knot —> Link: one of two that he broke, but the more significant of the two with him telling Grant he never wants to see him again.
Small notes on the season 1 anchors: I put the layer of mold in the overnight oats but you can’t really tell with the overlay. And to make the supper bowl more interesting I added the fantasy sodas mix they dumped into it. The lure of actually drawn before so I just traced my own art lol.
As for the other smaller triangles, it took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to put there. I didn’t even think of adding the vehicles until two days ago but I’m so glad I did. I don’t really have my own take on the mascot version of the Doodler (yet?) so I borrowed the design from one of the stickers in their merch shop. Teeny was terrifying as just a front facing head so I made him cute again.
In the outer circles, I put what I felt was the most significant quotes for each family. I really wanted to use “It’s okay to be angry, it’s not okay to be cruel” but it was just a little too long.
That’s all I can think of! If you read all the way through, thank you for indulging me in my excitement to gush over this piece.

I’m going to assume that at this point you’ve all seen Critical Role’s new show Candela Obscura and at least skimmed through the Quickstart Guide (you have done all that riiiight??) So I wanted to compile all the things I’ve done that have been shown so far. Its long so read below the line!
I’m going to try to avoid spoilers. So feel free to read without worry. I’m also going to try and avoid breaking any NDA like a good professional. So I will not be doing some deep dive behind the scenes thing. Only visuals that have already been publicly shared are going to be on here
Tumblr media
The very first thing I did on this show was the concepts for the main set. Everything is practical. Nothing is green screen or cg or whatever. Some people think it’s just good cg but nope that's all real. You could touch it! (don’t touch it, there are ghosts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were multiple iterations on the design, each with their own vibe and statement piece. CR narrowed it down to what you see in the show: a sort of storage hall with an odd clock contraption behind the GM. I think I called this design version the “Abyssal Hall” or something like that (I gave the different versions names to better keep track of which design was being discussed)
The company Flip This Bitch built the physical set. They turned my silly little art into a real thing. So they did all the actual magic of making this set come together in the end! They deserve a lot of the credit for it looking so good in the end.
Also that little piece of art in the bottom left of the preshow is a section from the final concept art of the set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That contraption behind Matt is based on astrolabes and clocks. This isn’t really meant to be a literal astrolabe or a clock as we would use them in our world. Narratively this isn’t a device that measures either of the things that a traditional astrolabe or clock does. This is a special magickal tool that does a secret third thing.
Tumblr media
Also I did concepts for the GM screen. You don't really see it besides in the fancy-shmancy preshow. There were a number of more intricate designs for it but CR went with the simpler option since the only part that would be visible on stream is the top, so that's where I put the most detail.
I should also note that I did not design the logo! It’s pretty prominent on the GM screen but I was supplied an already existing logo for this.
Tumblr media
NEXT is the Taliesin enclosure set that you see in the trailer. This is actually meant to be like the lantern room on the top of a lighthouse, minus the big light beacon (You could say Taliesin is the beacon).
Also in the trailer you see a couple brief sketches I did for some world building concepts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of sketches there are a number of art pieces of mine in the Quickstart guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of my art is sketches. They’re all meant to be like notes and drawings from members of Candela as they travel and notate their findings. Most of the notes on these sketches are my actually my notes when I was doing world building concepts, but they replaced my handwriting with a font because my handwriting sucks lmao (also likely for ease of future localization).
Also the cover of the Quickstart guide uses line art of a part of that astrolabe clock set piece. This line art was part of the deliverables that was sent over to Flip This Bitch for construction. They’re just using pieces of those set concepts everywhere!
Tumblr media
As you can see I’ve done a lot of art for this project. I was part of this project when it was still early in development. It’s changed quite a bit from where we started.
I wasn’t the only one that made all this art happen though. Other artists, writers, and designers got to add their own vision to this. It was very much a collaborative effort that took a long time to happen. It’s very exciting to see everyone’s hard work come to fruition and there is a lot more to come!

► 4t3 - Island Living - Mermaid Stuff - DF & non-DF
Alright, so...this is not as much a conversion as it is a mash up (a.k.a. Frankenmesh). Here’s what I mean by that:
- Meshes: I took the tails from TS3 and combined them with the fins from TS4 (because the S4 tails have a different UV and in order to fit TS3 they would’ve needed to be re-UV-mapped);
- Textures: a combination of TS3 and TS4 textures -TS3 for tails and TS4 for fins (only because the S4 textures look horrendous in TS3, at least the ones for tails do).
PLEASE READ the details I listed under CREATOR NOTES bellow !!!
Details:
Original meshes by EA/Maxis, I just put them together;
Ages: Teen to Elder, both genders;
All LODs & Morphs;
Disabled for random (for non-defaults);
Custom normal maps included;
Custom thumbnails for both Launcher and CAS (though the game might ignore them and generate normal thumbnails instead;
Format: package files;
Programs: S4Studio, Blender, Milkshape, Photoshop, MeshToolKit, TSRW, S3PE.
!!! The Sims 3 Island Paradise required (for everything except the male tops, those are base game).
What does this upload contain? (so glad you asked!)
2 mermaid tails named Fin One and Fin Two (DF & non-DF) from TS4;
2 female tops - non-DF - these were made by me because of -again- questionable textures n TS4 that don’t match TS3 art-style;
1 male top (converted from TS4 <-> non-DF because by design the male mermaids in TS3 don’t have a default mermaid top);
1 (pair of) stockings - DF M & F (made by me; will replace the “markings” your mermaid sims have on their legs while on land).
EDIT: On a anon's request,  I added a NON-DF version for the accessory scales. It's base game compatible, has 3 presets with 3 recolorable channels and is available for both genders from teen to elder.
Edit 16.07.2023: uploaded the male kelp top as accessory as requested by @dezailes2cochon.
!!! FOR Default Replacements install only ONE OF EACH !!!
Polycounts:
Tails AF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.6k)
Tails AM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tails TF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.6k)
Tails TM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tails EF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.5k)
Tails EM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tops: same polycount as the original TS3 items (they’re just painted on the base mesh)
! The reason why I listed the polycounts like this is because it’s up to you to decide whether you’re comfortable using:
the default-replacements (and have all the mermaid sims in town use these items); or
the non-default-replacements (in which case only your sims will use them as long as you’ve changed them in CAS).
Specific Details (for non-defaults):
Tops, bottoms and accessories sections;
Presets:
Tails: 5 presets; 4 recolorable channels
Tops Female: 5 presets each, 4 recolorable channels
Top male: 3 presets; 3 recolorable channels
Mermaid Stockings: 5 presets; 3 recolorable channels
Categories: Everyday, Sleepwear, Swimwear,
Available for Maternity (female versions).
———————————————
!!! Attn !!! -> The default replacement tails and female tops use only the first preset because I haven’t found a way to integrate additional maps (UVs, in this case) to a default replacement.
———————————————
Creator Notes:
Here’s where it gets interesting!
If you decide on using the DFs - INSTALL ONLY ONE OF EACH!!!!!!!
And to give you an example, here’s how I’m using the default replacements: Fin One for females (the DF files for TF, AF& EF), Fin Two for males (the DF files for TM, AM & EM), stockings for both genders (DF female & DF male).
As I said above the DF files have only the first preset. The non-DF have 5 presets, each with their own individual UV. Meaning I’ve made patterns out of the UVs to better emulate the patterns on the S4 tails. See bellow the difference in UVs and how they control the channels. It’s applicable to both tails and female tops. This is the only advantage of using the non-DFs in my opinion. But you can have both DFs (only one of each!!!) & non-DFs in your game at the same time and maybe use one of the patterns in the non-DF for that one “special” mermaid.
Tumblr media
The stockings aren’t the best aligned to the UV, I’ll admit it. But any misalignments (only along the seams) can only be noticed if you look closely.
This appears to be a common issue when installing default-replacements (you’ll know this if you have DF hairs in your game). Upon loading the DFs for the first time you might encounter a texture issue where you can see the new mesh, but the texture has not loaded properly. Like in this example:
Tumblr media
To fix it, you either take the sim in CAS with Nraas MC - Stylist (you don’t need to change anything, just get them in and out of CAS) and/or -if that doesn’t work- go ahead and save, quit and reload the game. This should fix the issues.
For NON-DF tails it’s mandatory that you use invisible feet This is what I’m using: 1 or 2 (find the null feet files inside the download). But keep in mind that because of the way the package was constructed, Dashboard might display them as corrupted. That’s because of the age categories being all in one file and not separated. Haven’t caused issues in my game so far and I've been using them since December. Anyway, the important thing is you need invisible feet for NON-DFs.
Let me know if you encounter any issues or need some further clarification.
Watch the tails in action HERE
You can tag me so I can see your beautiful mermaids & reblog your posts!

Kandavers Nation, I’m very sorry to say, but this Art Theft thing has been stressing me out a good amount lately... I used to feel very Happy and Safe being able to post artworks without the need to put a large/noticeable watermark on them, but now I’m embroidering my username onto the characters’ clothes and everything, and though it’s a Cool and Fun Idea, it really is actually out of spite. As a result, I feel like the Love I put inside my Art has plunged significantly because of it :(
I’m not saying I’m quitting Art or going to stop Drawing Welcome Home content or anything (Although I actually considered it for a second...), but, once again, I am Kindly requesting you to report this thieving channel. And one more thing you can do for me is go onto each of their reels/videos and comment asking them to at least give proper credits to the artists they stole from or take the videos down. Mention the artists, if you know them. For example, "this art is originally made by kandavers! this account is a repost account so please stop supporting them and support the real artist instead!"
PS. PLEASE DON'T ATTACK THEM! Just kindly tell them to take the video down, okay?
i feel like if a lot of people comment smth like that, the more likely for it to surface at the top of the comment section and more ppl will see
Tumblr media
The pure disrespect they have for me is unreal. They post shorts with no captions, no nothing, and get tens of thousands of views they dont deserve. And not to mention... the poor choice of audio... and overall extremely low quality editing... It makes me sad. There was no justice for me.
I would usually have no problem with comic dubs or edits, or anything, but please please please ask me first and have the basic decency of properly crediting me!
Tumblr media
And someone even had the gall to reply to my post about an art reposter and say I'm the bad guy for wanting to get the videos where someone stole my art taken down. I literally can't with these people.
"What did they even do to you" Umm... They stole my art? This person with the gacha life Wally x OC pfp wanted people to report me for wanting to take down a repost account. I can't do this anymore 💀 They probably don't realize that if I ever stop drawing, half of the repost channel's content will be gone. Literally. Imagine defending reposters and then insulting my emoji usage too. (This is why I hate minors /hj)
Usually I wouldn't pick fights or escalate things when I don't need to, but this is genuinely upsetting me and I literally filed a takedown to YouTube so that the reposts will go away.
In the meantime, I think I'm going to need a break for a couple of days to gather myself again. However I managed to cook some art for you to enjoy over this weekend! Hopefully that will fill your Kandavers Art Needs while I am away.
Thank you for your help! And see you soon.

Ganyu always found herself with little free time, not that she minded it all too much. She had a duty, a contract to fulfill, and she took pride in that. Her whole life had been spent in servitude to the Lord of Geo and the people of Liyue, so much so that she wasn’t sure what she'd do if she were to retire. But none of that meant she didn't need pass times, mostly ones she'd picked up at the insistence of her coworkers. So, already well versed in the art of storytelling, she’d decided to pick up reading.
It was portable, and she could easily leave it for days or even weeks when she got busy.
Recently she’d begun reading light novels shipped in from Inazuma's Yae publishing house, and the other day she acquired her latest book: How to date a dragon. Jifang had set it aside for her, saying that it was such a funny coincidence that she couldn't help herself.
And now she was here, staring pensively at the book with her chin resting on her laced hands. The front door opened, and she barely registered her girlfriend's announcement of her return. She was only pulled out of her thoughts by movement in the corner of her eye as Y/n entered the kitchen, and a soft call of her name.
“Do dragons really have forked tongues?”
Ganyu looked up at Y/n to find her eyes slightly wide, and her cheeks faintly flushed. As her words finally registered in her own head, Ganyu turned bright red and slapped her palms against her face in an attempt to hide herself.
“You’ve seen my tongue before,” Y/n laughed. There was a muffled response from Ganyu. “Pardon?”
“I said I haven't… not your real tongue…”
Y/n took a seat across from Ganyu and pulled the book towards herself, prying it open to the bookmarked page. Ganyu had split her fingers apart and was watching her read over the page, trying to gauge her reaction.
“Well, I don't have two…” Y/n looked back down at the page, “two monstrous, ribbed cocks,” she chuckled as Ganyu let out an embarrassed whine, “but yes, my real tongue is forked.”
Y/n braced one elbow on the edge of the table and rested her chin in her palm, watching adoringly as Ganyu slowly removed her hands from her face and laced them in front of her on the table. Absent-mindedly, Y/n flicked the corner of the page in her hand letting the flipping noise fill the quiet room to give Ganyu time to think of her next words.
“Why do you hide it?”
“Because it's not just the tongue, and while I’m not ashamed of my half-form, I understand it can be… intimidating, to say the least. You must remember that part of what made Morax such a commanding figure was his looks. Unfortunately that presence doesn't suit my needs.”
The qilin awkwardly shifted in her seat and looked away. So, on a whim, Y/n went back to the start of the book and began skimming through it.
“Courting… Possessiveness… Dates… Wow this thing is thorough,” Y/n mumbled.
“You really don’t need to look through it!”
Ganyu reached forward, feet barely scraping the floor as she leaned across the table to try and grab the book Y/n had moved above herself.
“Huh,” Y/n huffed suddenly. “Well I can do that.”
She turned the book around to Ganyu, and pointed at an illustration on one of the pages. It was a male dragon and a female human having sex, under the section titled mating, which was the exact section that had sent Ganyu on this little journey. The two page spread had different position illustrations on one side, and a diagram of dragon anatomy on the other.
Y/n would have been left shocked at the pornographic content if she didn’t know exactly who was behind it. She, unfortunately, would owe Yae Miko after this but at least the fox was finally making good on her IOU from centuries ago.
“Which one,” Ganyu whispered, now bracing both hands on the table as she was still leaning across it.
Closing the book, Y/n leaned forwards and rested her chin on the backs of her laced hands so that she and Ganyu could feel each other's breaths on their faces. Ganyu was breathing much more heavily, flushed red and eyes wide as she waited patiently for the answer.
There was a long moment of silence, and Ganyu began to worry she was going to be left without an answer.
“Would you like to find out?”
A glowing sheet passed over Y/n’s pupils, leaving them with a misty glow that Ganyu only ever saw when her heat came around. She was left so distracted, that the soft touch against her leg made her yelp and slam her knee into the table, knocking her off balance and making her fall back onto her feet. From this wider point of view, she noticed the scales that had appeared all over Y/n’s hands and stopped halfway up her biceps with her nails taking on a sharper, claw-like appearance. There was a faint glow around the edge of each scale that heavily contrasted against her skin.
Clearly finding amusement in her girlfriend's hypnotized state, Y/n brought her tail up behind her and let it rest on the table as she leaned one arm against the back of the chair and crossed one leg over the other. A dangerous smile revealed her sharp teeth, the one constant reminder of her dragon form even when she paraded around as a human.
The display left Ganyu-
“Are you sure you haven’t cum already?” Y/n asked. “Maybe you should take your tights off, it smells uncomfortable.”
“But-”
“I know what I said.”
Ganyu shifted her weight side to side and looked wearily at the door, then the windows with the curtains drawn, then back to Y/n.
With a sigh, Y/n pushed her chair back from the table– the scratching noise made Ganyu jump– and made her way to Ganyu where she promptly grabbed her by the waist and hauled her over her shoulder. Ganyu yelped, gripping the back of Y/n’s shirt in an attempt to find balance as her legs instinctively flailed about.
Y/n used one hand to still her calves, while the other looped around her waist.
“Fine, we can go to the bedroom, but it’s not like we haven’t had sex in less private places.” She paused, then turned her head and pressed her nose against Ganyu’s thigh. “At this rate you’re going to cum before I even touch you,” Y/n laughed, making Ganyu whimper in embarrassment as she tried to rub her thighs together.
“You’re so mean.”
Y/n’s tail raised up and gently tapped Ganyu’s nose, the furry tip making her face scrunch up. She dropped Ganyu onto the bed, a wide grin spreading across her face as the sudden pressure made her groan.
Y/n let out a dreamy sigh as she knelt at the foot of the bed, then grabbed Ganyu’s ankles and pulled her to the edge. Y/n pressed her nose into the crotch of her bodysuit, inhaling deeply and letting a low growl rumble through her chest. Ganyu began to grind her hips against her face, whimpering as the knot in her gut quickly tightened.
“Hey,” Y/n snapped, gripping her hips and forcing them to still. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I-”
When Ganyu paused to try and collect her thoughts, and actually get the words out, Y/n ripped a claw across the crotch of her body suit. The qilin gasped, and whined when she couldn’t grind against anything to relieve the painful arousal.
Before she could complain about the ripped body suit, Y/n shoved her face back against her cunt– her warm breath and the pressure making Ganyu moan and throw her head back as she gripped at her girlfriends head– and caught her fangs in the thin fabric of Ganyu’s tights. The sound of tearing tights seemed to echo in the room, and whether it was the show of power or the uninhibited stimulation, Ganyu pushed Y/n closer as she came with stuttering hips and incoherent cries.
With lidded eyes and the lower half of her face soaked in cum, Y/n looked up at Ganyu and licked her lips. Her tongue, now twice the length it normally was with a forked tip, grazed Ganyu’s thigh as it swept along her cheeks. Ganyu stared back at her, face aflame and glassy eyed.
“I didn’t even have to touch you-”
Ganyu slid her hands around to cup Y/n’s jaw and hold her gaze.
“Please! Please touch me!”
“Aw, want me to fuck you with the strap? Pound you so hard your tits bounce? Hold you down with my tail so you just have to take it?”
“Want you to breed me!”
The two froze, Y/n’s claws digging in slightly to Ganyu’s hips as her grip on Y/n’s chin slacked.
“My, my, so forward today. Did that book tell you what happens when a dragon tries to breed?”
Y/n lowered herself back to Ganyu’s cunt and gave a long, slow lick, allowing her clit to slip between her forked tongue.
Ganyu let herself fall back onto the bed, still gripping the back of Y/n’s neck, and throwing her legs over her shoulders. Which she would quickly come to regret when Y/n locked her ankles together with her tail and pressed her hips into the mattress as she slipped her tongue as far as she could into Ganyu. The qilin’s hips bucked and she moaned, trying to grind her hips further on her tongue.
Her tongue was just barely enough pleasure as it skated along her walls, jabbing her g-spot only to dig her claws in further, but it wasn’t thick enough. Ganyu was left on the edge of pleasure as Y/n slipped a hand between her own thighs and rubbed at her clit. Y/n’s heavy breathing and moans only pushed Ganyu closer to the edge.
“I’m so close, please, please let me cum!” Ganyu cried, struggling against Y/n’s hold.
Y/n removed her tongue and leaned her head against one of Ganyu’s thighs.
“I would,” she placed a gentle kiss to Ganyu’s thigh, “but you gotta stretch yourself out for me, and we both know that if I let you cum now you’ll be too sensitive to do it yourself.”
Unwrapping her tail, Y/n gently set Ganyu’s legs down and got up– her legs were uneasy from being folded beneath herself for so long, making her wobbly– to go find the strap on. As she went, she kicked off her clothes.
She looked back over her shoulder to find Ganyu still hanging half off the bed, the crotch of her clothes torn in two and breathing heavily. After a moment, she slowly began to undress herself and leaned back against the headboard. Her soft moans and whimpers filled the room as she sunk two fingers into herself, carefully stretching them apart.
With her eyes closed, she missed Y/n open another drawer to retrieve a new dildo.
After a few moments, the bed dipped and Ganyu lazily opened her eyes as exhaustion slowly started to eat at her. They quickly blew wide, however, as she found a much larger dildo on the strap then she was used to. Y/n laughed, pulling her down the bed so that she was laying flat.
“I figured you’d ask about dragons eventually,” Y/n hummed, grabbing the two pillows from the head of the bed and putting them under Ganyu’s hips.
Y/n’s tail slipped around Ganyu’s waist as she lined up with her cunt.
“That’s- it’s huge…”
“And that’s why there’s only one,” Y/n bent down so that her lips brushed against Ganyu’s ear, “this time.”
Y/n’s tail tightened around Ganyu’s waist as she slowly sunk into her, while Ganyu clawed helplessly at the skin just above her scaly biceps. Her legs wrapped tightly around Y/n’s waist as she tried to pull her in further, ignoring the painful stretch.
“So good,” Y/n cooed. “So pretty like this, all dazed and cock hungry. I knew you could take it.”
Ganyu whimpered, scratching up Y/n’s back as she reached for her face. She pulled her into a searing kiss, tongues tangled together as Y/n continued to slowly sink into her.
“So full.”
“I know,” Y/n whispered, sitting up to rub soothingly at Ganyu’s hips.
Slowly, Y/n pulled out halfway and rocked back into her, earning a loud moan from the qilin below her. Then she pulled out a little further and rocked back in just a little faster, earning herself an even louder maon. Ganyu babbled on through slurred speech about how full she felt as she clawed at Y/n’s back.
Y/n’s thrusts quickly devolved into hard, frantic thrusts as she chased after Ganyu’s broken cries. She was sobbing at this point, gasping as each thrust knocked the air from her lungs, unable to move as Y/n’s claws dug into her hips and her tail hugged her waist.
Another orgasm quickly hit Ganyu, making her squirt all over the strap.
“Ah! St-Stop, sensitive!”
“I thought you wanted me to breed you,” Y/n snickered. “Which means we don’t stop until I say so.”
“But- ah!”
Y/n slipped a hand between them as she straightened up to watch the strap disappear into Ganyu, over and over again, and began to rub slow circles against her clit.
It didn’t take long for Ganyu to cum again as Y/n kept hitting her g-spot, not to mention how sensitive she still was from her last orgasm.
This time, however, when she came, Y/n slowed down and carefully pulled out. She pressed a kiss to Ganyu’s tear stained cheek before gently rolling her over. Ganyu tried to push herself up onto her forearms, but they gave out from exhaustion the second she put any weight on them. Y/n helped her kneel on either side of the pillow and used her tail to help keep her hips up before slowly sinking back into her.
Ganyu shoved her face into the sheets, gripping the sheets so hard her knuckles turned white while every thrust forced her further and further into the mattress. She was on the verge of cumming again, when a sharp yank of her hair pulled her off the mattress and another arm wrapped around her chest.
The sudden pain and fondling of her breast made her cum again, but this time there was no gushing. Her body shuddered as she tried to push away from Y/n who simply buried her face in her neck and let her fangs gently scratch the skin.
“One more, pretty girl. Come on, you can take it. You wanted to be bred, didn’t you?”
Whatever Ganyu’s response was was completely incoherent as Y/n lowered her back to the bed, still gripping her hair, and began fucking into her again. This really would have to be the last one, because the friction of the strap against her clit had made Y/n cum twice and she wasn’t sure she’d be able to take care of Ganyu after too many more
So as she felt Ganyu’s muscles tightened once more and she began crying about how it really was too much, Y/n pulled her hair to the side and bit down on the mark at the nape of her neck. That was enough for the both of them as Y/n’s hips stuttered and Ganyu’s grip on the sheets slacked. Y/n stilled completely, licking gently at the skin she’d just bitten, and gently untangled the hand in her hair. She placed gentle kisses along Ganyu’s spine as she murmured words of praise.
“You did so good. Love you so much.”
It was only then, as her head was right next to Ganyu’s, that she registered the soft snores and chuckled.
“You’re damn lucky I can’t actually breed you.”
---
Ganyu awoke the next morning to the smell of tea, soft sleepwear, and her entire body aching. Her arms shook as she tried to push herself off her stomach to roll over, but she managed to roll over onto her back and found Y/n flipping through the stupid book that had landed her in this position.
“Sleep well?” Y/n hummed, not looking away from the book.
“Everything hurts,” she sighed with a hoarse voice, slowly pulling herself up to a sitting position against the head of the bed.
With shaky arms she took a sip of tea, and then let her head drop against Y/n’s shoulder. Y/n wrapped one arm around her and rubbed her shoulder soothingly.
“So, would you say the book is accurate?”
Ganyu’s face turned red as she mumbled, “Impressively so.”
“It’s not that impressive,” Y/n shrugged, “Yae’s seen my dragon form before, couldn’t have been too hard to draw these conclusions from that and certain conversations.”
“Wait, you know the author?”
“Sort of, we were friends centuries ago. Why?” She looked back at the book, then flipped all the way to the first page, and laughed. “Damn, she really came through on that IOU.”
To my dear friend, and her shy girlfriend: I hope this book serves you well.

studio ghibli ranking list let’s go
(will include nausicaä and the red turtle)
the these-are-actually-bad section:
24. earwig and the witch
Tumblr media
actually the only one I haven’t watched so it’s cheeky to put it here. but I won’t be watching it and no one will blame me.
23. ocean waves
Tumblr media
who sincerely cares about these teenagers they’re so annoying. if the boys had been gay it would have honestly been homophobic.
22. pom poko
Tumblr media
this film is about shape-shifting raccoon dogs waging a war on humans and there’s copious jokes about their testicles. so on paper a perfect film. execution wise it’s so long and so boring and you care about none of them.
the cure-for-insomnia section:
21. tales from earthsea
Tumblr media
hayao miyazaki was right to walk out of this one even though he probably is a terrible father for having done so. some of the animation was really nice but these protagonists made me yearn for the ocean waves cast because at least they have semi-personalities.
20. castle in the sky
Tumblr media
proof miyazaki was judging his son too hard for earthsea because this is basically his version of the same thing: a nice idea with good animation and the most boring boy/girl protagonists imaginable. has got that whimsy he does so nicely however.
the passable-films section:
19. the cat returns
Tumblr media
but should he have? was that really necessary? has a scene of cats walking in a procession on their hind legs though so that’s a plus.
18. arrietty
Tumblr media
visually gorgeous but otherwise a very run-of-the-mill adaptation of the borrowers, which in something that should feel wondrous is less than ideal.
17. my neighbors the yamadas
Tumblr media
some harmless and inventive fun that you can put on in the background whilst eating lunch or doing some light yoga stretches.
the don’t-harm-me-I’m-right section:
16. howl’s moving castle
Tumblr media
yes I do in fact understand the intricacies of the plot and I still don’t care. this is one of ghibli’s messiest films for sure, it can’t decide what it wants to be or focus on and the plot just seems to happen and then not happen for no good reason. I also think howl’s a whiny bastard and hate that sophie has to mother him and endure his contemptible man tantrums. a shame because she’s actually cool.
15. grave of the fireflies
Tumblr media
it was sweet but I’ve watched more moving animated films set in war-time, even. I don’t have much desire to watch it again honestly but maybe I will at some point.
the this-is-getting-there section:
14. the red turtle
Tumblr media
I liked it! an acquired taste but I really felt the harshness of the elements and the cruelty and the love. it's also very beautiful to look at, one of the most visually arresting ghibli productions.
13. only yesterday
Tumblr media
a tale of two films with this one. the parts where she's a young girl are much more interesting, but if this had stuck the landing and it'd been more even overall, could have potentially been a favourite. alas.
12. the wind rises
Tumblr media
a genuinely weird one in ghibli's lineup, in which miyazaki meshes two different stories together (one of inventive 'genius' and a doomed love story, respectively) in a likely attempt to try and grapple with his having chosen his career over all else, including family (noteworthy is that his wife was not able to retain her career as an animator). as a piece of art it's less whimsical and more mature than many of these films, but I struggle to not let my distaste for what it potentially represents get in the way of my appreciation for it as a film, but it's so blatantly personal that it's impossible.
the that-was-just-a-good-fun-time section:
11. nausicaä of the valley of the wind
Tumblr media
aesthetically one of the coolest films on this list but I don't remember the story as well. great protagonist too. must have been great to experience when it first came out in the '80s.
10. porco rosso
Tumblr media
I love this film about a tomboy mechanic and some pilot guy who went off to war and was so changed he is now a pig. watching it feels like if the mediterranean was so small it fit into your back pocket and was also populated by all your friends all your enemies and your ex-lover also.
9. from up on poppy hill
Tumblr media
I found this one boring the first time I watched it but it really grew on me with subsequent rewatches. I really like her predominantly female household and the community they share in the backdrop of the rest of the drama is sweet. the bit of drama midway through is still batshit though but in a loveable, disney-would-never way.
the near-perfect section:
8. the tale of the princess kaguya
Tumblr media
probably takahata's magnum opus with the studio, if slightly overlong. folktales are tricky because they tend to feel moralistic and the characters one-note if you're not willing to build on them but kaguya herself feels very spirited and alive. the prettiest on the list too I'd say.
7. my neighbor totoro
Tumblr media
cozy late summer comfort film. perhaps even more special now because I was able to see the london production. cute!
6. when marnie was there
Tumblr media
surprised this one has ranked so high for me but that's the power of tomboy lesbians heck yeah etc. also the fantastical element of this one is so up my alley and touches upon a particular kind of childhood nostalgia I have of being in old houses and imbuing them with magical qualities. the image of anna facing the house across the marshland is burned into my retina.
the I'd-die-for-her section:
5. princess mononoke
Tumblr media
aesthetically too cool for school and has one of the best ghibli villains and female characters (lady eboshi). they really said all the spirits of the forest are going to die in this one but well it was a nice thought.
4. ponyo
Tumblr media
my comfort movie of all-time! heartwarming! with another great female ghibli character in lisa, sosuke's mum who is legally allowed to drive like that apparently. also one I actually watched for the first time in my childhood when I was around 7 or so at an after school club. the subtitles taught me the useful and now underused gem of a phrase "bog off".
3. kiki's delivery service
Tumblr media
asks the important questions such as: what if you were a young witch from a dying tradition who moves to a gorgeous town in sweden? what if your remarkable gifts were no longer appreciated due to rapid advancements in aviation technology? what if you could live in a bakery?
2. spirited away
Tumblr media
when you're just a timid child who is scared of admittedly a lot and your parents manage to mess everything up spectacularly so now you're forced to work at the age of twelve for people who steal your identity. still one of the best honestly they may never top this as the peak of their artistic achievement.
1. whisper of the heart
Tumblr media
have you ever been a struggling artist? have you ever been in love? have you ever been obsessed with john denver's take me home, country roads? in all seriousness love a story of two artistically inclined people inspiring each other and this has a unique feel compared to other ghibli films forever favourite probably. it feels like basically no one has watched it and that's a shame. rest in peace yoshifumi kondō.

ok more natm statue!ghoap because i’m insane
(edit: part 2 !!)
-
John has long since lost track of how long he’d been a display in the museum when Simon arrives.
His room had been sectioned off one morning, about an hour after sunrise, which is typically indicative of one of three things: repairs, renovations, or a new addition to the exhibit. And whichever it is, it has excitement thrumming through John, waiting to be released come the next night.
He’s always been a fan of change, however insignificant.
And come two hours after the ropes are set up at every entrance to the room, in is rolled a statue of John’s size, a translucent tarp draped over the carving itself as John had once found himself to be, however many years ago. Museum employees work quickly to install the new piece, plaque and pedestal and all, and once that tarp is removed—if John had lungs, he thinks his breath might’ve been stolen away.
Simon—or Ghost, as his placard reads, and as John first knows him as—is the most beautifully carved statue John has seen in his centuries of existence. It’s clear that his details were etched into pale stone with care and love, every fold of fake cloth, every wrinkle of false skin intricate and deliberate.
The separate slate of stone that serves as a piece of skull to mask Ghost’s face is more than intriguing enough for John to know he wants to meet the other statue the moment the museum closes that night. He knows he want to be the one to introduce Ghost to the world of the living the museum is so generous to offer, no matter how limited it is.
He has to be the one.
It’s no surprise, once the exhibit is reopened, that so many visitors flock around Ghost. John wishes he could be among them, warm and brimming with real, human life—but at the same time, he’s also happy to be where he is, with the opportunity to stare at Ghost forever.
John feels giddy, contained within his frozen form, when the final call announcements sound. When he feels the freeing magic loosen his limbs, his joints slow to movement, he’s immediately off his pedestal to wander over to Ghost.
Who has yet to move.
He knows the first night for any new display is strange. Some are hesitant, unwilling to break their original form. Others are eager, the first to wake.
John had been the latter.
“I wanted to welcome you,” John says, staring up at Ghost. He can tell Ghost knows he can relax his pose, and yet he remains tense. “My name’s John. Do you have a name?”
Piercing eyes shift to peer down at John. Still, Ghost does not move. A beat, a lull of silence if not for the other displays also coming to life, then, “Can’t you read?”
John grins. Ghost’s voice is wonderful deep, wonderfully full. “I can,” he replies, tilting his head. “But sometimes that isn’t the right name.”
Ghost’s jaw shifts, his shoulders finally dropping, the hand that’s poised and holding his mask in place falling away with the skull to reveal a face just as stunning as the rest of his composition, all sharp lines and smooth stone. He still watches John from above, though now with a gentle curiosity that holds questions that would never be asked, at least not tonight.
Quietly, almost timid, Ghost amends, “Simon. That’s my name.”
“Well, Simon.” John extends a hand out to Simon to help him off his pedestal. To John’s surprise, Simon doesn’t hesitate to take it—and again, he feels that in another life, he’d be breathless by now. “Why don’t I show you around?”
What he means to say, is that he looks forward to an eternity alongside Simon, the magnificent piece of art that he is.
And he hopes some day, Simon will feel the same.

home again ; yandere!wally darling
Tumblr media
requested by ; anonymous (09/05/23)
word count ; 2031
content ; platonic yanderes, memory loss (the puppets all had their memories forcibly wiped), references to child/teen reader, obsessive protectiveness, author’s first time writing something platonic so… yeah
note ; i haven’t written anything like this before (sfw yandere stuff) so apologies if it seems a tad off. similarly i’m still adjusting to writing wally’s character in terms of dialogue and such, so that may also seem a smidge ooc.
fandom ; welcome home
pairing ; platonic wally darling x gender neutral!reader
read also on ; ao3
It was a beautifully melancholy evening: the stars and moon were obscured with thick, grey clouds that loomed overhead like ragged old curtains; the air was thick with dust and pollen that clung to your skin and clothes like a man hanging onto the edge of a steep cliff, digging their claws in and holding on with all the relentless might you’d come to hate; your room was only dimly illuminated by the pale blue light emanating from your monitor, the low hum of the vents the only sound to compliment the clicking of keys and the tapping of the mouse. Quiet, drab and dull; how very typical of spring.
But at the very least it gave you all the excuse you needed to sit behind a screen and doomscroll. Tired eyes skimming over articles and activists decrying the latest tragedy, thousands of crabs in the metaphorical bucket of social media all fighting for the attention of bystanders — only taking pause when you came across something all too familiar, yet at the same time entirely new.
‘Does anyone else remember Welcome Home? It was pretty popular when it aired back in the 70s and my friends and I are trying to create a complete archive for it’ — the caption read. Below it was a highlighted link and a picture that had been burned into your brain since childhood: bright swatches of paint adorning every surface, all seeing eyes as big as can be, and in front of it, that permanent smile carved into yellow felt. Wally Darling and Home, you remembered them both clearly enough — clearer than you’d have liked, even.
It had been decades since you’d actively thought back on Welcome Home, on your brief stint in stardom, and frankly you’d have rather it’d been kept that way. You still held a bit of a grudge over getting axed: ‘too mature’, yeah right! Every kid loves astrology and nobody is too old to talk about their feelings… you were only 14 for crying out loud! Too mature, your ass.
But perhaps, you reasoned, it wouldn’t be too bad to take a quick trip down memory lane. Sure you’d loved the show when it aired, but you stopped watching after your section was cut, so maybe it would be cool to see what changed in the interim — and, either way, your experiences would probably be helpful to the archivists. So no harm, no foul.
————
The site was easy enough to navigate but man you didn’t expect to get so emotional when you went looking through the recovered art. They looked exactly the same as you remembered, all of them — which is kind of silly to think about since puppets and tv show characters in general tend not to change since, well, they were meant to stay consistent. Frank was always going to look terribly stern, and Julie was always going to come onto scene with a new fabulous hairdo, and Eddie was always going to trip over his own feet on his rounds, and Wally was always going to open and close each episode with a nod to the audience. These things were staples of the characters and the show’s structure so of course they’d be the same.
But, still, you somehow felt like they should have changed in your absence. A small part of your mind, an irrational part surely, crying out that they were alive and that living things were made to change — which was silly. And, frankly, a little embarrassing that you’d even had that thought at all.
So you pushed that idea to the very back of your mind where it belonged and continued to scroll through the various pages of the website. Art from official books (you were sure you even owned the ‘ask Wally’ type book and that it was still at your parents’ place), merchandise like pop up figures (the sort that were found only in cereal boxes and magazines), promotional posters and even one piece from your short tenure on the show. You remembered posing for that photograph, being told to smile and to wrap your arms around Eddie and Wally — but for some reason you couldn’t quite recall what their puppeteers were called.
Or if they even had any puppeteers in the first place.
No. That can’t be right. They were puppets, characters, they had to have someone controlling and voicing them — but none of the promotional art nor your memories supported that basic truth. It didn’t make sense.
None of it made sense. This was why you’d tried to forget that show so desperately after you left. It messed with your head far too much to be worth the effort so why bother burning out over questions that could be explained by a faulty memory.
A memory that could, in picture perfect detail, recall the route from Howdy’s store to Home as clear as crystal — as if it were your own route to-and-from primary school. A memory that could replay patchy conversations between Wally and Julie, bittersweet bickering over hairspray and hairpins that you could only recall in pieces, but that still rang clearly as if you were thinking of childhood friends. A memory that was imprinted with the feeling of warm felt embraces and puffs of warm air from stencil cut mouths that would have been impossible if they weren’t alive. Moving eyes, small bodies, freely walking, freely talking — alive and well and clear as day in your mind as normally as recalling your parents arguing over a cup of freshly brewed coffee on the mornings of each shoot.
The distinctly strong smell of the synthetic hairspray Wally used that would hang around him and mixed with the scent of oil paint like a cologne — that burned your nose if you hung around too close to him in the early morning. The sheer joy of Howdy picking you up and tossing you in the air as a congratulations for your first scene done well — caterpillar fuzz that stuck to your clothes for days, as strong as velcro. The way you and Julie squealed when Barnaby shook back and forth and sent droplets of muddy water raining down on you and on her freshly done up hair — and the joke that followed her exasperated tirade as you, through giggles, explained frustration to the audience through a camera they seemed to not be able to see.
Memories that kept unearthing themselves the deeper you went into the site, eventually culminating with you tearing up at the sight of old friends you’d been forced to leave behind. Silly, perhaps, but you recall telling the audience that it was healthy to cry and to let it all go — so at least your teenage self would be proud of your emotional vulnerability.
After a good hour of this, and more than in need of a break, you finally clicked on the attached message board and typed up a simple few sentences. A greeting and a farewell all in one before you closed down your computer and went to bed.
‘I used to have a segment on Welcome Home when I was a kid. I was meant to do astrology and emotions, before I got cut for being too old lol. This brought back so many memories. Thank you, all.’
————
Wally hadn’t meant to linger — really, he hadn’t — but there had been something oddly familiar about his latest visitor that he couldn’t quite place. Even from behind the screen he was trapped within, even as he watched their message load in, he could tell that they were different. It was their eyes, those tearful knowing eyes — he was sure he’d seen them before in that somewhere different, somewhere brighter, that came before the end he and his neighbours were trapped in.
When he saw their eyes he saw himself, a twisted altered reflection of himself that was filled to bursting with the warmth and awareness that he was created to hold within himself. A child’s eyes in the form of someone who he didn’t know yet he knew he must have once. A lingering, niggling feeling in the back of his skull, like fingertips brushing and scratching and digging into his fabric brain — rearranging and scouring and destroying and reaching for something that he couldn’t quite find.
He winced and squinted and stared through the screen to no avail, tilting his head and watching them as they flicked from screen to screen to screen desperate for a sign that he could use to place this familiar stranger. Unable to do so until finally — finally — their note came through and he was able to read the short greeting they’d left behind.
Then, and only then, did those forbidden memories come flooding back. A formidable tidal wave, a whirling rapid, of bright lights and experiences and conversations that had been torn from him and shredded in the writer’s room of their long gone creators.
He knew you, he’d always known you; the child too old for their youth that visited their neighbourhood in the beginning. Who always wore a beaming smile and treated them all with a grace beyond their years, spreading kindness and joy to his friends and to the audience only the two of you knew about. Who was far taller than his measly 12 apples of verticality but who never made him feel small. Who spoke eagerly of the constellations and painted the most wonderful pictures of stars and moons and planets far beyond their reach that he did his best to capture in his paintings. Who was only 14 but felt more like an adult than he did sometimes — he, who was crafted and sewn without a childhood — but who wasn’t above play and foley.
The child who was the absolute most; his favourite transient neighbour. All of their’s, actually.
How could he possibly have forgotten you?
You with your broad toothy grins, and your warm eyes that shone brighter than the stars you loved, and your arms that were big enough to carry even more apples than he could have ever dreamed of. You, who he promised to protect and keep away from the horrors of the world, theirs and your own. You, who never turned down a favour or plea from his neighbours.
You. Just you.
Wonderful, lovable, unforgettable you. His child of flesh, not felt, but he loved you all the same.
And he didn’t get to see you grow up, because his creators deemed you unbefitting of their world and cut you from their memories as ruthlessly as they’d cut your segments from their show. Welcome Home didn’t feel very much like a home after that — even if they didn’t quite recall what was missing.
Wally didn’t even want to think about all of the horrors and harms you’d faced throughout the years you’d been apart — he could see the wear hanging heavily in the downwards quirk of your lips and the dampened glint in your eye. He knew he’d sooner kill someone than let them hurt you, he’d threatened it plenty alongside Howdy and Eddie and Frank — they all loved you as dearly as him, once.
But in his current predicament he couldn’t do much to protect you. Couldn’t coddle you, couldn’t warm you, couldn’t sooth you with those sweets you used to love (if you even loved them anymore, it had clearly been quite some time), couldn’t do anything to help. He couldn’t even communicate with you, to apologise, to tell you he still loved you and that you were still welcome in their neighbourhood.
So he did the only thing he could; he drew you a picture. A silly little simplistic drawing, scratchy and crude, depicting a strong memory he had of you. The two of you, hand in hand, with your arms overflowing with apples you’d managed to steal from Howdy (oh how he missed such trivial things) — he hoped you remembered these moments as fondly as he did. Then, to the illustration, he attached a small message, a plea just for you, before settling back down behind the screen and hoping — praying — that you’d come back.
‘I’m sorry for forgetting you, friend, please come home’

"I'm not infiltrating the masquerade in this dress!", she says while fuming, arms crossed at her chest in the hopes of cover at least something. "Are you joking? This is practically transparent, I might as well be wearing nothing!"
Only after she has said those words does she realize what a terrible sentence that was, considering who she is talking to.
His pointed ears twitched as you fumed, yet he was still continuing to put on his tie. Astarion's long fingers slightly shaking as he handled the black cloth. A steady breath entered his nostrils and his red eyes were covered by his weary eyelids as he let his breath go.
After looking down at his assembled outfit, he walked towards a chair where a black cloak laid. The pale man grabbed it and proceeded to toss it over your head, covering your vision and your torso, “Take off the dress and hand it to me.”
As you stood there gawking at him, his eyes narrowed, “Hurry up! I don’t have all day!”
Eventually you hand him the dress after you change into much more comfortable clothing. He snatched it away and sauntered into another room.
But what exactly was he going to do with your dress? Your curiosity couldn’t help but get the better of you and you were met with Astarion’s back turned away from you, hunched over.
Astarion didn’t seem to notice you, instead he seemed laser focused on the dress you handed to him. His nimble fingers stitching together the large opening on the dress. Unfortunately that didn’t cover everything so he absentmindedly grabbed some golden thread and began to embroider a pattern onto the offending section of the dress.
This went on for several minutes, you were sure that the two of you were going to be late but Astarion didn’t care, he was going to fix this damn dress.
Once the needle exited the dress one final time, Astarion bit the string with his fangs. He held his newest work of art in front of him, making sure that it was up to snuff.
After a moment of his eyes darting all over the dress, he turned to you, “Perfect, I was just about to call for you, my dear.”
He threw the dress at you and proceeded to look his nails, “It’s not my best work but it’ll have to do. If you’re still not satisfied with that thing, I’m sure we can steal something from a boutique.”
Passive Perception Check: The dress was closed up the best it could be, and in the area he couldn’t fully achieve his goal, you see a golden rose embroidered in its center. Not just its bloom but it’s surrounded by thorns, reminding everyone that you’re not to be trifled with.

WARNINGS. gyuvin almost died but he didn’t he’s silly
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First impressions have always been something you were passionate about. As in, you would definitely die on the concrete floor like a dried out frog, mouth foaming with bubbles if you were to mess your first impression up. First impressions are important to you, you already can’t stand with the thought of being perceived, but you can’t stop it from happening. So, the next best thing is to make sure the image they perceive is one that is… impressionable, at least.
That was, until today.
It was mostly your fault, but you needed to be petty and blame it on someone — and that someone happens to be your brother, Hanbin. Of course, Hanbin had woken you up extra early like you asked him to, but Hanbin’s also far too nice to pull something crazy like shut the ceiling fan off, or pull your leg to wake you up. You kinda wished he did, though — because you wouldn’t have been in this situation you were currently in, if he did. Again, not exactly Hanbin’s fault, but you needed somebody to blame.
You were about thirty minutes late to school. It definitely could’ve been worse, but this was your first impression, we’re talking about. It was like the universe was out to get you this morning. You overslept, your uniform hadn’t been ironed, your tie was missing. Of course, you’re aware that these are all the consequences of your own actions, but you really didn’t feel like beating yourself up any more than Gyuvin’s about to do.
As you reached the school compound, you could see a tall figure standing by the school gates. Despite his annoyed face, you couldn’t help but see how handsome he was. And — did he dye his hair? You had to mentally yell at yourself to stay normal and focused on the task at hand; you are Gyuvin’s tour guide, and that’s it. You can not afford to let your weird persona on the internet out.
“Hi.” You greeted, trying to ignore the elephant in the room. Gyuvin tapped his elbow with finger as he waited for you to finally reach him, he raised an eyebrow, and was about to say something snarky for sure. “Did you dye your hair? It looks good.” You say before he could utter anything, in an attempt to ease the tension.
“You’re late.” Gyuvin responded, and that practically confirmed your suspicions that he was furious. In fact, the lack of enthusiasm to his voice made it worse. “I’m sorry. It was my brother’s fault, I promise.” You raised your hand like you were admitting defeat. Gyuvin rolled his eyes, “I don’t care whose fault it was. You’re late and unreliable on your first day on the job.” He said with a smug grin on his face.
You frowned slightly as you began to walk towards the school building, “you don’t have to be so mean,” you murmured. A part of you wondered if Gyuvin was generally always this mean — or if something traumatic happened to him to be closed off forever like an anime backstory — probably the former, maybe he’s just an asshole. You shrugged. You’re used to dealing with assholes. Exhibit A, Sungchan, exhibit B, his best friend Jeonghyeon.
“So the first thing you’ll see when you enter the school is the hallways.” You explained, the hallway was empty since the first period had already commenced. Gyuvin didn’t talk much as you showed him around the first building. Truthfully, you weren’t sure if he was even listening. It annoyed you a little, but you felt like you had no right to feel that way in the first place. As a result, you just ignored the emotions building up inside you.
“This is the art section, if you have any art classes in your schedule, all classes would be located here.” You pointed into a different hallway, and Gyuvin still didn't say anything. You glanced at him for a split second to make sure he was at least looking at the direction I’m pointing towards.
The more the two of you continued walking around, the more awkward it felt for you. You glanced at Gyuvin again, and this time, it made him furrow his eyebrows. You could practically see the gears in his head turning as stared down at you, “what are you looking at?” He finally broke the silence with a frown. “Am I not allowed to look at you?” you find yourself saying something snarky back at him before you could even stop yourself.
That only encourage Gyuvin to banter more with you, though. He definitely had no problem arguing. In fact, it seemed like he was in the mood for it. “It’s rude to stare.” He said with a scowl on his face. “You’re rude.” You answered back. He had a look of amusement on his face, surprisingly. Like he was enjoying the back and forth between you and him. “I wouldn’t be if you were actually on time.”  He said it in such a nonchalant way, but you just know he said it to piss you off, because you couldn't argue back against that.
So, it was back to being silent as you showed him around again, trying to act civil. Gyuvin knew he had won this round, and he had a smug look on his face.
You were soon done with showing him around the north wing of the school, and you contemplated doing something evil. It was like there was a little angel and devil on your shoulders debating with each other to tell you what to do. At the end, though, the devil won. Because you’re not always a good person — and that’s okay.
“Gyuvin, follow me.” You gestured as you turned your heels to walk towards a darker part of the building. Gyuvin followed you unsuspectingly, and you had to force yourself from rubbing your hands together like an evil cartoon character.
The both of you stopped in front of a large door, it wasn’t locked, but both you and Gyuvin could tell that the place inside was extremely dark. It was a gym pool under construction, so it was naturally off limits for students, but Gyuvin doesn’t know that.
“You should look around inside. All the kids do it, it’s cool.” You told him before taking a few steps back. Your initial plan was to just scare him a little in that dark gym pool. “What about you?” Gyuvin asked, he paused for a beat, “aren’t you gonna come in, too? You scared?” He flashed his signature annoying grin. “It’s dusty inside, I don’t wanna get my uniform dirty.” You answered swiftly.
You had to give yourself a pat on the back. That excuse rolled out of your tongue smoothly. You glanced over your shoulder to see Gyuvin think for a second before shrugging. He allowed himself to walk into the gym pool, and when the door closed behind him, you immediately walked back with the original idea of locking him inside for a good five minutes. Maybe annoy him, make him apologise for being mean, and say ‘please’ before finally letting him out. Well, that was the original plan, anyway.
Although, of course, karma didn’t wait long to hit you. Too bad you’re no Taylor Swift, and karma was definitely not your boyfriend nor a cat purring on your lap. This also goes without saying that it was because of Gyuvin himself, too. Instead of being fazed by the fact that you were about to lock himself in, he had gotten all nosy and distracted by his surroundings. Without thinking much about the repercussions that comes with being nosy, he decided to touch some of the things around. Hell, he didn’t even notice you locking him in.
On the other side of the door, you hear something falling and hit the concrete, followed by a loud thud. You weren’t sure what it was, but you knew it couldn’t be good. Your fingers moved on instinct as you unlocked  and opened the door in a panic, your other hand reaching out for your phone for the flashlight.
You burst into the gym pool, flashed the entire place with your phone’s flashlight just to find Gyuvin laying on the floor, his head slightly bleeding. “Gyuvin!” You shrieked in horror as you ran to him, it’s not really common for you to see a 6’1” tall man lying flat on the floor like a crime scene episode you’d see on Buzzfeed Unsolved. It could not be a good sign either.
“Gyuvin!” You shrieked again, you put his head on your lap, and in hindsight, it was a tad bit dramatic for you to do that. Gyuvin let out a groan in response, from the scene in front of you, you could kinda imagine what had happened — a brick probably fell on Gyuvin’s head. Well, not exactly a brick — but it was something of those sorts. Not too dangerous, but his head was still bleeding.
“I’m calling the ambulance!” You say, your voice a pitch higher from panicking. Your complexion slightly paler, your forehead producing cold sweat, and your fingers trembling as you made your phone call. “Nnn… no…” Gyuvin murmured softly as you laid his head on your lap while you asked for an ambulance. “I’m not dead…” he added, almost scowling.
“Shh!” You scolded, while your free hand went to hold the part of his head that was bleeding as gently as possible. “Your head is bleeding, Gyuvin…” you say sadly, you stared at him apologetically too. “I’ll get you to the hospital, I promise. Just shut up and don’t waste your energy.” You added. It almost made Gyuvin chuckle, if he wasn’t so weirded out by the situation the two of you were currently in. You were so worried, when he wasn’t even badly injured. Sure, his head was throbbing from the open wound, but it wasn’t an internal bleeding or anything like that. It was just a wound on the head.
While yes, Gyuvin was a little weak because he had his head hit by something hard. But also yes to the fact that Gyuvin was annoyed because you were panicking for his well being. Even in such crucial times, Gyuvin managed to be irritated by your presence. He could barely process what you were saying to the telephone operator. The other thing he couldn’t process? The fact that he’s really enjoying being this close with you. He liked laying his head on your lap. In fact, he doesn’t even realise that he liked it. He swears he’s weirded out, but that’s only because he couldn’t exactly process his emotions and gather his thoughts at that time.
All he knew was that he didn’t like it when the paramedics took him from you when they transferred him onto the stretcher and into the ambulance. Although, of course, he wasn’t sure why he didn’t like it. Gyuvin told himself that it was probably just the comfort of being held after taking a literal blow on the head. He still finds you annoying. But would he jump on the opportunity of laying his head on your lap again? Well, yeah.
Everything was so bright inside the ambulance, you were there next to him, his visions were blurry, but he knew you were probably crying and muttering ‘is he gonna die?’ numerous times to the paramedic. He could’ve sworn you looked like snot was dripping from your nose, but he wasn’t entirely sure. It made him chuckle anyway, though.
Your face was the last thing he thought of before surrendering to his tired body. He fell asleep, but you were adamant that he was unconscious. Surprisingly, though, he managed to move his hand just enough for it to brush against yours. The motion was too subtle for either of you to notice it, but that was definitely Gyuvin’s body reacting. Reacting to what, exactly? Who knows.
Do you still hate each other? Maybe. Does your body crave each other’s touches after being close once? Yeah. Are either of you aware? Definitely not.

“You can’t rush art”
I think everybody can recall the quote from Toy Story 2. From the most satisfying part of the movie where we see a montage of Woody getting restored by a toy maker. It’s one of my favourites too, I absolutely loved looking at the different procedures used to fix a single toy. The toymaker’s precision and care were found mesmerizing by everyone. As a multi-hatted artist, one that can draw, sculpt, animate, and write, I can say that it’s spot on that there’s so much to do for a single piece of work. HOOO boy, you should see how me and Beefy are organizing Cursed to Charm, there’s so much.
For the upcoming webcomic, we design characters, give each and every one of them their stand-alone story, design different clothes, create the map, draw renders and posters, polish scripts for the episodes, plan to program the comic’s own website, make the backgrounds eventually, etc. To people who aren’t artists or take art for granted, to them, art is stroking a paper using a pen and BAM instant masterpiece. No no, it’s more than that.
Another thing I’d like to say about the comic is that the progress is very slow yet very fruitful because of the time taken. Me and my co-author came up with the idea at late November, which makes the comic four months old now. However, with all that time passed, we have already finalized the list of nine episodes of season one. We have also written seven out of nine summaries from that season before actually writing the dialogue in detail. We have a rough four seasons worth of story progression in the span of four months. Nyeh, excuse the little ramble about CtC, I’m just giving insight of how much should be done for the production of anything which leads us to the next point.
Art production in general.
Movies, animation, shows, video games, books, comics etc etc
All of these are part of art, some people would deny because it isn’t sophisticated like they’re lead to believe art is supposed to be. Art is literally just creation man, can’t get any simpler than that 😩 if you made something, then you made something woohoo! Congratulations you made art, cooking included. It came free with your fucking humanity.
Anyway, just like the webcomic, every single one of these listed also have a set of different procedures that will piece together the final output.
Let’s take Disney movies as a specific example, I want to talk about something real quick.
So one time, I was watching Tarzan with my parents and we stuck around for the end credits. My mom pointed out the animators are divided into sections and there’s so much names on them. There are different teams of animators for each character and these teams are divided in two for the storyboarders and the clean up artists. When the credits rolled a bit more, it showed that the background artists and colorists also have their own sections too. There’s so much people working on different body parts of a movie. I got the habit of reading end credits of every movie I watch, animated or live action, then I would compare the credits of old and new movies. Boy, let me tell you that the work space on old movies are FILLED compared to newer movies. One thing I noticed about Disney movies although, is that the old movies have more sections compared to new ones. The major difference of old Disney and new Disney are the length of the credits and the time gap of the movies. I’m really not trusting the way new movies have way shorter end credits while the publish time of new movies are getting narrower and narrower. Before the 2000s, movies usually come out twice a year and sometimes there’s a two-year hiatus before the next batch of movies are published. Now there’s at least two or three movies that publish yearly while also releasing a bunch of shows in the middle of it. I really don’t understand business talk with the way it sacrifices quality over quantity. Like I get having money is great and all but what’s the use of hoarding it? Especially when there’s so much news of people about to be in poverty and mass layoffs. Why should companies earn money if they’re not going to redistribute it back to the economy at all? This is a little off topic but I want to point it out that people in the 80s used to buy whole houses by being a janitor but nowadays people could barely afford a one room apartment even with three jobs. The Simpsons is an example of this because it was set in the 90s and the family is constantly reminded of how “poor” they are. They even created an episode that talks about the same job that supported people’s fathers will no longer support you nowadays (Poorhouse Rock ep22 s33). It’s fishy and I’m salty about it especially because I hear so much people complaining about how they’re not being given a chance to work. Anywho! Let’s go back to art.
I’m just spitballing my thoughts here but somehow they’re connecting either way. All I’m trying to say is that for the people who care so much about the quality of art, it’s noticeable that they get downgraded, not just by the look but by the way they’re written.
Example.
Clone High.
Jesus Christ, the new show is a nightmare and an insult to the original Clone High. The difference is clear with this one. The original Clone High was heavy satire of every single high school trope used in shows and movies. Every single character was meant to have one personality and that personality is the butt of the joke. The original did not care about making the characters appealing because the appeal is found in the way they interact, they clash so much and a lot of them are idiots. The writing is funny because the dialogue flows so easily unlike the renewal. The renewed Clone High takes itself too seriously and it tries too hard to be relevant. It’s funny to me that fans can draw the original’s art style more accurately than the animators hired. What’s even more frustrating is that concept art was released from the art head and the concept art looked way better than what they decided on the final designs. Other than the art style that tries to be marketable, the writing is insufferable with the way they try to be “relatable” without understanding why the original jokes were funny to begin with.
Now we’re all familiar with this cheap tactic of using the title of successful franchises to grab clicks and views. It’s every live action Disney film, it happened to Scooby Doo, Marvel shows, FNAF, some Cartoon Network shows, Megamind, and now even Kung Fu Panda. Basically MILKING. It would have been better if the productions TRIED to understand the original’s intentions which they forgot about. They ended up being disappointing at best and soulless at worst. I won’t be explaining much cuz I’ve already reached the minimum word count lmao. I’m just rambling here, I better not see anyone interrogate me in asks or replies. ANYWAY, I’m gonna get to the point real quick.
Back to the quote at the start of the post, people tend to forget that. Art is a skill, not a button people press and it gives you pretty pictures or videos. Art is a job and an effort. While art is subjective and it differs from person to person, one thing for certain is that art that is made ingenuinely will never be better than art that is made because the artist loves art. This is why the Tom & Jerry reboots with the lineless art style even if they had a storyboard artist who understood the cartoon wackiness (which were discarded for a “cleaner” and faster style). This is why it’s so frustrating to see concept art of movies which have more appeal than the final 3d models. This is why FNAF Security Breach was nearly unplayable.
Because they all rushed art.
They rushed in favour of what is marketable, no matter how unappealing it is. Everything could have been better, some final products are good, but all of them could have been better. As good as what were released pre 2010s when production had a passion. You can’t spell heart without art.
I’m just really passionate about art in any form since it’s everything that created me too. I will not be here at this point in time if it weren’t for me learning that there’s so much beauty in the world if you could just squint and appreciate why that’s so. I’m defined by my works and it only hurts and infuriates me that people who have the ability and accessibility to create better art than I do waste it for their personal gain or selfish intentions. Everyone could be a better person because of art just as it did to me. Again, it came to us the moment we’re born, art isn’t just a pretty picture, it’s everything we create out of love, passion, time, and effort.
But really, to the wise words of Chef Saltbaker, “like any good bake, heart and soul is the secret ingredient”
You can’t rush art.
