ca$h and spider are kind of each other's foils if you think about it...

both ca$h and spider come from households where they're raised by single maternal figures but they're so different in the relationships they have with those figures and how those relationships impact the way they treat the people around them.

ca$h's nan always supports him, even when he gets sent to jail and ultimately believes that he's innocent and a good, kind person who wouldn't hurt a fly, regardless of the trouble he gets in. even the first time we meet her, it's "my grandson's done nothing wrong", even though we know she has no idea if that's true or not, she's willing to lie to the cops and will always give ca$h the benefit of the doubt no matter what.

contrast that with spider's mum, who constantly puts him down and has so much hatred towards him because he wasn't the daughter she wanted and not only genuinely believes that he's a future rapist, but has no qualms about expressing that belief to a teenage girl she's just met casually over lunch.

spider does have moments where he's kind towards the girls, but he also lies about hooking up with quinni (body-shaming her in the process) and uses ableist language towards her when she calls him out on it, he repeatedly bullies amerie, he's transphobic towards darren, he's involved in falsely accusing jojo, a black female teacher, of being a sexual predator to get out of a class he doesn't like, he verbally abuses jojo and gets in her personal space, he victim-blames malakai, not to mention all the t*te-wannabe rhetoric he spouts during his school captain campaign. it's only when people (outside of voss) start to express that they believe in him that he actually starts to realise he's been acting like a dick.

ca$h has so many outside influences and since there's a lot of toxic masculinity in eshay culture as well, he could have very easily fallen down the cumlords pipeline too but he doesn't. his nan is a firm, no-bullshit person but will always stand by him and i think that's reflected in how he treats his friends. i especially liked his dynamic with quinni this season and hope we get to see more.

thoughts on how oshi no ko has portrayed what happened to hikaru (thus far) and any ideas for what his motives/role in the story is?

Honestly? I think it's doing a pretty good job of portraying it. TW for discussions of childhood sexual abuse below.

When it's first introduced to us that Hikaru was raped by the adult actress, Aqua doesn't have much reaction. On an intellectual level, he gets it, but on an emotional level in terms of what this means for Hikaru, for his development and for his pain, he doesn't get it at all. It's only when we get to Akane's expressed horror ("that's sick!") that we get an actual reaction.

The previous chapter was honestly acting and a flashback as it actually happened, and I appreciated that they showed it as violent.

That's something so often missing from stories of older women who rape younger boys (see Mary Kay Letourneau). It's not a love story. He's not lucky. It's violence.

Like, I spoke about this with a friend after the chapter, but the wiki literally says he was "implied to have been raped." Implied? He was ELEVEN.

I don't think the wiki writers are intentionally being obtuse or dismissive, but there is a subconscious way in which a lot of the world, across cultures, reacts to female predators of young boys in a way that is incongruent with how we react to men who prey on young girls. And to be fair, the latter is a far more prevalent issue but still.

So anyways, I was grateful the final panel of the flashback showed Hikaru being dragged, violently, away from a girl his own age whom he likes by an older woman who won't even introduce his son as his son. Anything Hikaru has, he cannot have.

I've written about Hikaru before, but yeah, he's a scary serial killer at this point who is likely going to target Ruby and/or Kana. He's a final antagonist, obviously, and his past abuses don't excuse him. He's somewhat modeled after Lucifer, and not the Hazbin Hotel version.

But I don't think Aqua's final challenge is stopping Hikaru.

Aqua playing Hikaru in these scenes is challenging him to do what playing Ai has provoked Ruby to do: to empathize and further understand their parents. But, the problem is that Aqua can relate to Hikaru's anger and hatred already.

Again, as I wrote previously, Aqua already is very much like Hikaru (albeit at a far earlier stage): trying to reenact and kill the perceived causes of his trauma and not able to see that he's not going to be happy with such an ending because you can't kill your way to peace.

What Aqua actually needs to do is to come to understand Ai. Ruby, imo, is the one who will come to understand Hikaru, and probably forgive him (not excuse, but this is very likely where it's going).

Ai seemed to, after all. She reached out to Hikaru's proxy (the stalker) and definitely recognized the white roses and knew who had sent him.

Yet she still reached out to her stalker as a human being and empathized with him after he had stabbed her.

If it had been Hikaru standing there himself, she would have done the same.

And lest we think this is solely an example of her toxic wanting-to-please-people trait taking control, this was also the moment--the only moment in Ai's life--where she was finally able to express herself without a lie. It can be both an indictment of the entertainment industry prioritizing pleasing others over your own life and pain and Ai's moment of triumph even amidst tragedy.

Hence again why Aqua's challenge is to understand his mother, not to kill his father as justice for her. He needs to recognize her love for him as her son. She wanted him to live. She wanted him to love. She didn't want him to obsess over her in death.

Ruby, on the other hand, needs to understand Hikaru... and Aqua. Thus far, while she's had the best growth of everyone in this entire series, she is still idolizing Sensei and Aqua thereby.

She needs to see him as a person just as Aqua needs to see Ai as a person. Seeing Hikaru's anger and pain and seeing Aqua's go hand in hand for Ruby (again, not a coincidence Aqua is playing young Hikaru in the movie).

As for where Hikaru goes from there, I don't know. He might end his own life like the stalker proxy did, but I think the fact that that's already happened makes it less likely. He might find new life even if like, in prison, or he might die sacrificing himself for his kids. It's too early to make those exact predictions... but I think Ruby understanding him and empathizing is key.

AITA for encouraging kids to lie about their age online?

Okay, so, to make one thing clear, I know I can go a bit overboard when it comes to online safety, particularly with children's/teenagers online safety.

I grew up lying about my age, my friends lying about their age, and even though I'm now a legal adult [19F], I still lie about being older online to keep 40+ year old creeps who are into teenagers/young 20 year olds off my back.

I truly believe me lying about my age has saved me from being target by predators online growing up because in real life where I can't lie about my age, I was target by predators from when I started puberty early at six years old to even now since I do have a rather bad baby face and look about 14 according to my friends.

Why thankfully I have had just enough education and maturity to know how to advoid engaging these creeps in real life, I was also way too trusting of people who seemed my age, and if online someone lied to me about their age I would have likely feel prey to their abuse.

And so one thing I absolutely loath about this new internet culture is minors, be it actually little kids or teenagers, just being comfortable about saying their age.

Like, it puts a huge target on their back that allows any predator to go "ah, they're in my prefered age group to abuse!" and lie about their own age to seem younger and to know which kids they want to target to groom and abuse.

And so, every month or so I make a bunch safety posts. I use studies and stories shared with me to encourage kids to be safer online and to just lie about their age. People have taken to reblogging these posts, adding their own stories, making their own posts, etc.

This however has gotten me a lot of backlash recently by a lot of fellow adults who just don't want minors following them, and by adults who create more mature content so to speak.

They do make some good points about having a right to a boundary, and to not wanting minors to see their more risky content for comfort and/or legal reasons, but frankly I have always cared about minors safety more then anything.

And so I would argued back that minors already are and have been since the internet came to be lying about their ages, and that as long as their is a disclaimer that any mature content is made for adults and by proceeding to view it you are saying your adult [even if you aren't] will 99.9% of the time keep any any legal issues away, and most importantly, minor's safety comes before any adult's sense comfort.

But because of this, a lot of adult accounts be it sfw accounts that just wanted space away from minors and not so sfw accounts in my particular fandom space have been deactivating due to an increasing about of minors taking their ages out of their bios and posts and/or lying about their ages.

I feel bad because it was never my intention to drive adults out. I just wanted kids to be smarter and safer online, not for adults, the main driving force of this particular fandom to start to widdle out.

Minors have been sneakily looking at mature material since forever, and it's something a lot of artists and writers use to accept that. And not only that, there was a sort of acceptance back when I was younger that it was healthy outlet for minors to sneakily cope with their hormones by quietly looking at it since they were fully in control of that experience.

I figured it would just go back to that, to adults learning how to cope with their own discomfort for the sake of minors being safe, but instead they're raging about minors breaking boundaries, getting porn addictions, etc, and leaving to other social medias.

I feel horrible for making so many adults uncomfortable to the point of leaving, and now I can't help but wonder if I should have tried a different approach to helping minors be safer that didn't upset the current/modern[?] adult artist and writers?

At the end of the day, minors being safer is more important, but surely that must have been a different way that I'm just not able to see right now that I could have taken?

So really, AITA for not being more tactful in handling this issue of minors being to open online and causing a lot of unnecessary discomfort?

kind of related but not- I'm genuinely sorry to be posting so much or about Lily Orchard, guys. Prior to Courtney coming on and telling us her story I was mostly just taken aback and angry with Lily as "one of those critic types" in my circle of vision.

It sucks -and yeah I know other critics don't want to hear this+Lily will use this fact as an excuse to discredit ppl's complaints abt her. but I think a lot of us were initially exposed to Lily because they knew of andor were fans of her cartoon criticism content. In my case I knew Lily from her days of Bronydom and have watched her make more and more meanMEAN material even w it's not about internal fandom dramacallouts. Back in those days and up to last year I could say of Lilly the same thing I'd say for a lot of people who annoy me online: I think she's a bully. Which is still bad, it's just not 'criminal', inherent. Comparing her to Rebecca Sugar, Lindsay Ellis, Contrapoints or VivziePop would be stupid as she really doesn't have even half the portfolio or wherewithall as any of those people -or even Zena and Poppy, not that they're angels. Lily was/is annoying because she'd use other people's genuine concerns and talking points. There's a certain takenupbyaltlight-term that I begrudginly would love to use for Lily that REALLY hits the nail on the head with her, be it as a fan, a critic or an activist. But I won't use it. Not because it's untrue, but because it's used by the same people who write her kiwifarm pages and misgender her and clearly couldn't give a crap about her if she didn't make them "lol"

But then, I actually looked at some of Britt's receipts and skimmed bits and pieces of what remains of Stockholm (I think you all already know this but @britts-galaxy-brain the links are missing now). For years, I'd known and listened to others honestly harp on Lily as some kind of counter-initiative for her going after their fav foalcon people. I assumed it was more of the same. It's not. Lily 100% wrote cp and is trying to hide it. No not fiction abt young adults that delves into erotic and sexisms; not stuff with aged-up child characters being big boobied of themselves thru the gaze or r34 artists. She wrote cp.

Essense of Thought's and that one hour long video talking about Stockholm were the first real horrifying revelation. Then I read through Brittney's saved messages from Lily and 'Tara'. Then I saw Patch's video.

THEN, Courtney came out and told everyone on here and her server everything we needed to know. I don't abide by everything Courtney says, especially about her abusers but I mean they're her abusers and please stop asking her to like the children who're valued more than her in the lives of her abusers, or at least maybe vent openly not to Courtney directly about your fear for those kids Cameron has. Yeah, I'm also concerned but idk there's got to be a better way to handle this. Anyway, as previously stated, I believe Courtney, Britt, and Patch. There's no way that those people have faked that stuff. I've heard kind of stretched explanations being true, but there's no way Stockholm was "edited by pedos" like Lily's saying it was I know I'm missing a few folks in there but I believe a lot of people have been genuinely victimized by LO and aren't just acting out of transphobia, bigotry.

Of what I can attest based on what I've seen, I KNOW that Lily Orchard wrote 'fluffy' foalcon and is saying she didn't, and also that the woman hates the word "queer".

Of what has been shown to me, I fully BELIEVE Lily Orchard is an abusive, sockpuppeting predator. Not only that, she's hiding behind other predator's existence to lie to her audience of other abused people to convince both them and herself that she couldn't possibly be a predator.

In 2013, what was 10 years from now, there was a controversy in the MLP fandom where a minor rose a (not undeserved) stink abt the askblog Princess Molestia and how it was making light of r*pe, intentionally or not. To counter this, a bunch of mouthbreathing bronies took it upon themselves to prove they weren't creeps by threatening the underrage sa victim, making r*pe porn of her while other mouthbreathers basically said "yeah put she's [the minor] annoying so it's the same kind of evil we're doing, really". Centrists.

Why this matters to me is (CW. CW. CW) you can find a post from Tara Callie, who was almost certainly one of Lily's alts at the time, admitting she found the r*pe art of Pinkiepony "hot", all the while Lily herself was publicly denouncing Pinkie's treatment by the fandom.

Lily Orchard is an awful human being. She does not have intrusive thoughts or fears of acting on those intrusive thoughts sometimes, like me and other people do. She has sexual and violent urges that she hides enough form the public to not make her followers suspect anything. She's twofaced and takes out her probable self-hate by attacking other predators. She's all deflection and lies. I can not believe a thing that vile woman says. Neither should you.

The biggest means of fighting her I think we all can do of is refusing to use her critical tag w we talk about her. Spam her "own tag". Enough hiding and denying who this terrible bigoted abusive woman really is.

Because really, her thoughts on glubshitto or whoever from Owl House are HARDLY the worst of it. Not even.

finding out the trans guy who made the mlm flag got (falsely) accused of being a rapist just because the flag looks kind like the lesbian flag (i mean the 7 and 5 stripe ones not the 6 stripe ones he also made) just makes me so depressed. I know if a cis guy made it that it wouldn't get half of the shit that it does.

seeing people repeatedly make jabs at trans men who like boys, calling us shit like "microseparatist gayboys" and tearing down anything that gets made by us or associated with us.... I love my other trans friends but sometimes i do wish there was a space where i could just be around other transmascs where I won't have to see us being falsely accused of rape for making some stripes in a row right next to people who say we don't face things like predator accusations...

I don't feel safe in my "community" anymore and it's breaking my heart. I was so excited to be out when I was 13 and now in my mid 20s I find myself wishing I was anything but what I am. Sometimes I want to look at these people and go "tell me where this alleged 'separatist' group is and I'll go there and stop 'tainting' your community with my transition". Even my love for other trans men is warped and demonized (because it couldn't be pure, it has to be somehow evil) or mocked as "pussy4pussy" (i'm meta4phallo)

Sorry for essentially venting in your inbox but reading those anons who are scared of being out in their own community and especially the anon who socially detransitioned because of "community" abuse/mistreatment. I'm so scared of that becoming my future and I really can't find any solution to it. I just want us all to be ok

Transandrophobia is rampant in gay communities, and homophobia + transandrophobia combined is horrible in the queer community at large. I've had multiple people lie about me, and while I've never been falsely accused of sexual harassment or assault, I have been accused of stalking and harassed over it, I've had people publicly speculate about my fetishes in front of me where I could see, with people defending the people doing that because the fetishes I "admitted" (fake screenshots) to "having" were "problematic."

Apparently that is okay to do now, because we're men and because we "chose" to be men that means we must be okay with being sexually harassed... (sarcasm)

Here's the thing. I've never heard the term "gayboy" used for a cis man, while it's used for trans men of all different ages, and while it's not inherently the most offensive term ever, its usage is infantilizing trans men and painting us as "gay man lite." We are not gay men lite, we are gay men. Them calling us separatists is really fucking weird because there are literally homosexual male separatists. They are called biphobic transphobic gay men and you can look them up here on Tumblr and find their blogs with hundreds of followers.

I wish I could crawl through the screen and punch those people who claim that false predator accusations are a transfem-only issue, because I've had it happen to me and so many other trans guys have had it happen to them too. Painting trans men as being predatory like a marginalized man stereotype and also a female invader into maleness at the same time is a very central piece of TEHM rhetoric and anyone who ignores that should be ashamed of themselves, because ignoring and erasing that such oppression exists is also a core piece of TEHM and also TERF rhetoric.

Every day I'm getting closer and closer to actually becoming a gay trans man separatist. Jesus fucking Christ. The rest of the world hates us and the rest of the queer community hates us too, and while I think that getting the queer community to unlearn their transphobia against us is important, I also think it is vital for us to have our own spaces to talk about our experiences without someone interrupting every 5 seconds saying "what about trans women?"

Why RWBY Criticism is rarely constructive or respectful, and why haters of RWBY hide their toxic behavior behind the “criticism card”

When I blazed a RWBY Positivity Resource post last weekend, I was harassed by RWBY Haters accusing me of being unable to take criticism.

These people? Kept saying “RWBY Bad” or “RT is pandering” or “Fandom is toxic” but act like they know what criticism is.

They also screamed about “valid criticism” and “lost potential”

Judgmental Critter and her sister Twiins Iink repeatedly make video after video defending male villains and attacking female protagonists.

If you ever call out their severe hatred towards RWBY and their harassment of RWBY Fans, critics accuse anyone defending the show from their criticism of being “misogynists” or “toxic positivity”

I have never heard of toxic positivity until RWBY Critics started using it in their videos to harass RWBY Fandom and the writers.

Vexed Viewer repeatedly makes one video after another insulting female characters...People claim he’s “progressive” even as he insulted the #MeToo movement in 2019 while he was mourning Vic Micnogna’s sentencing.

UoW basically made transphobic rewrites that supported abusive relationships. Which was after his ex, another youtuber, left UoW for being emotionally abusive, something that UoW’s rewrite promotes, to where Bumbleby and Renora are written as emotionally abusive, and people defend that?

Raymond McNeil made sexist and racist “fixing rwby” that basically was one big middle finger to each and everyone one of rwby’s themes and elements (he made a sexual predator the stepfather of Yang and included “faunus heat cycles” while having women lose to men in most fights)

And Eruptionfang promoted the toxic “qrow is ruby’s father theory” and repeatedly idolized adam taurus before his channel got taken down.

A criticism is meant to be respectful, meant to be helpful.

Accusing the show of “sucking, bad, etc”? Wanting RWBY to die? NOT Criticism.

Behold every single RWBY Critic. “RWBY deserves better than the writers who literally created it”

These are the same people who like to talk about Monty’s vision or what Monty wanted.

But what was it that Monty wanted.

Here’s the first from the man himself! The first one being? Qrow is not Ruby Rose’s father.

But as you know, every single defender of this theory accuses Monty and CRWBY of being liars.

When a theory is shut down by the writers/creators, its no longer a headcanon, its an obsession with wishing a lie would be truth.

Sadly?

Too many “youtubers who claim to love RWBY more than CRWBY” refuse to accept canon because it doesn’t serve their bias. This youtuber, Sytokun? Who is basically making “RWBY Remnants” Basically claims to love RWBY but repeatedly insults the show’s writing and its writers. How many times must the writers Debunk a theory before these fanatics accept that the theory is wrong, and that insulting the writers because you don’t get what you want is wrong?

THIS is why I treat the “Qrow is Ruby’s father” theory as beyond contemptible. Because not only does it involve the writers lying for years on end, romanticizes the deadbeat dad, and encourages spitting on the complex family dynamic that is the xiao long rose family?

many kink accounts just refuse to acknowledge the mountains of evidence and flat out lie that no one has provided evidence while whining that they are "being harassed" by people either pointing to or providing evidence in response to the public and easy to see lie about there being no evidence. the majority of people that follow this blog are people that followed floraverse or the pmde group and a good chunk have kinks that are often explored by the flora crew. obviously its not every person but most are just really frustrated with seeing known predators who have been caught actively lying to defend other predators and engaging in the most blatant victim blaming possible seep back into popularity-even if it is just the in the kink space. i dont want to find out any of the horny accounts i follow would defend these people, its something that makes me hesitant to engage in kink spaces even more than i already am due to general anxiety and fear that i might be in a space that is like what it sounds like you are trying to avoid here. the nazi bit i assume is purely because of the constant nazijacketing that the flora crew does while they lie about there being no proof against them all, and a similar sentiment applies here that most people who follow and regularly engage with this blog are queer and leftists-not all obviously but thats more because this blog has become the strongest space (i say with gratitude because it really sucked when the flora crew had enough power to chase off literal child victims from speaking out to the point the *literal children who were being abused* had to go to some shady websites to be heard, especially since they all are currently using that to this day to try and get away with everything) to try and make sure that this honestly vile group isnt getting away with tricking people into trusting them again. naturally being the place that always gives victims the room to come forward and say what happened and refuse to back down or be chased into silence the more evil groups who want to talk about it to promote hate instead of protecting both children and adults from getting hurt will come here, just like the people who in it to kinkshame will as well. ive been paying attention to this since the lain case came out and remember how safe it felt when ash and eevee seemed to stop once it was clear that they had been lying and gaslighting to protect marl after the bigfluff drop and marl outright confessing to it. this blog is one i would trust even if it turned out the intra-community kink politics werent ones i agreed with because the past and current mods have and continue to do their best to shut down any transphobia/homophobia/general-queerphobia and make sure that the evidence is easy to reach-the masterlist being a recent and much appreciated addition. that is the most important bit to me here. the source being one that doesnt come from bigotry but from wanting to make sure that the queer community can actually be a safe space for everyone is the most comforting thing when dealing with subjects like this

if i didnt address things well and left any thoughts unfinished i apologize but i do hope this helps comfort/answer the anon who is worried about accidentally backing and citing info from sources they dont see as trustworthy when it comes to this subject if they still felt iffy after the the response from the mod. i also hope this is useful for any one else having the same worries

Henry and Jason's Monologues: Are They Mirrors of One Another?

Also, as usual, will make this about rosegate/the wheelers (threat).

Anyways, the show has never shied away from making the point that abusers/ bigots are the real "predators" and this is done repeatedly by Hawkins itself being contrasted with the monster-filled UD. In the same vein, Jason's monologue in the church is paralled to a portion of Henry's monologue (Henry's monologue is way too fucking long man).

The biggest irony here is that while Jason was scapegoating the Hellfire club, full of what he would be considered "freaks", the true evil he was hunting was... a reflection of himself.

I didn't utilize screenshots because there is a 30 image limit on text posts but I have the transcripts of both monologues here from the scripts. It's hard to tell because I've broken them up into excerpts, but the monologues are very similar structurally. As in the themes/sections I laid out here follow one another in the same way for both speeches, so it seems intentional. Both excerpts have a theme of seeing a truth under a lie, the spread of a "disease" that both Jason and Henry respectively find intolerable, and the belief that they are both morally "good". there are similarities in word usage:

A spread of something pervasive and intolerable

Jason:

Henry:

"You see, humans are a unique type of pest, multiplying and poisoning our world, all while enforcing a structure of their own. A deeply unnatural structure. Where others saw order, I saw a straitjacket. A cruel, oppressive world dictated by made-up rules. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades. Each life a faded, lesser copy of the one before. Wake up, eat, work, sleep, reproduce, and die. Everyone is just waiting. Waiting for it all to be over. All while performing in a silly, terrible play, day after day."

(The "unnatural" structures that Henry is talking about here are religious- specifically Christian since this is set in small town America- structures. This is paralleled to Jason talking about the spread of satanic cults via DnD)

Feelings of hopelessness as it spreads

Jason:

"And now this cult is protecting its leader, Eddie. Hiding him. Allowing him to… to continue his rampage. Last night, I became overcome with this feeling of… of hopelessness."

Henry:

"I could not do that. I could not close off my mind and join in the madness. I could not pretend."

(The intentional conflation between these DnD "cults" that Jason is afraid of and conformist Christian culture/nuclear families that Henry despises is made here again)

Their own conviction that their own actions against this force are "good"

Jason:

"Then I remembered Romans. "Do not be overcome by evil." "But overcome evil with good." And God knows there's good in this town. So much good. It's in this room! It's in this room, right here, right now. So I came here today, humbly, to ask for your help. To join me in this fight. Let us cast out this evil and save Hawkins together."

Henry:

"And I realized I didn't have to. I could make my own rules. I could restore balance to a broken world. A predator… but for good."

(In the same way Jason wants to "cast out this evil" and save Hawkins, Henry wants to restore "balance to a broken world". Notice how Jason does not describe himself as good, but everyone in the room as good. The people that would become that mob that try to hunt down this "evil". Pack predators, but for good)

Now the one that is the most interesting to me personally:

DnD as a roleplaying game and conformity as a silly little play to hide a terrible truth behind a lie

Jason:

"Last night… Last night, I saw things, things I can't explain. Things the police don't wanna believe. And things that I don't wanna believe myself. But I know what I saw. I know. And I've come to accept an awful truth. [...] They just don't know why. Now… Now we do. Now we know. They call themselves Hellfire. A club. A club. A harmless club. That's what they want you to think. But it's a lie. A lie designed to conceal the truth."

Henry:

"Where others saw order, I saw a strait-jacket. A cruel, oppressive world dictated by made-up rules. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades. Each life a faded, lesser copy of the one before. Wake up, eat, work, sleep, reproduce, and die. Everyone is just waiting. Waiting for it all to be over. All while performing in a silly, terrible play, day after day. [...] I could reach into others, into their minds, their memories. I became an explorer. I saw my parents as they truly were. To the world, they presented themselves as good, normal people. But like everything else in this world, it was all a lie. A terrible lie. They had done things, Eleven. Such awful things. I showed them who they really were."

(both Jason and Henry state that they have seen through the curtain. For Jason its the supernatural, seeing Eddie for who he really is. For Henry, it's seeing through the roles people play to fit in ie. conforming to societal pressure. They both make an example out of someone. In the case for Jason, he believes that Eddie is hiding behind a "harmless" DnD roleplaying club while committing this heinous acts- the "awful truth". Henry makes an example out of his nuclear family, stating how he was able to see how his parents truly were, how they hide behind a "terrible lie"- one he equated to a silly terrible play earlier in his speech)

The mind-boggling thing? Being an explorer who saw their parents for who they truly were, parents who have done awful things and hide behind a façade of normalcy, is paralleled to Holly.

In fact the shot pans over the Wheelers when Jason states that the "harmless" club is a lie designed to conceal the truth:

In fact there are many more associations with the Wheelers in Jason's speech. "We've all heard how satanic cults are spreading through our country like some… some disease."

Wheeler women are associated with cancer

The running gag of Mike's asking if his Nana has cancer in s3

2. Karen didn't need to be in the s3 scene on the phone when Mike is lying to El about his Nana's cancer, but they did intentionally include her regardless, having her ask if something is wrong with Nana and if she's sick.

3. Jonathan describes the resentment Nancy will feel for him if she has to give up her dreams for him and the continuation of the family cycle as a cancer (which is like, Karen's whole thing)- finally spelling out to us that the cancer, in this case of unsatisfied wheeler women at least, is a metaphor for female oppression/conformity:

And then we see El in California, clad in roses choking against the rose on the creel door, which we also see Karen, Nancy, and Holly associated with, spreading the disease... through the country.

(Steve brought a bouquet of roses for Nancy in an effort to get her back in s2)

"... spreading through our country like some… some disease."

Flashback to s4e1 when Mike just arrives across the country in California, he is bringing her yellow and purple flowers, which he explicitly mentions how he chose the colors when handing it to her:

Which is familiar... the spread of the UD is repeatedly compared also to an infectious disease in s3 with Mrs. Driscoll's rats being a reference to the spread of the Bubonic Plague and Driscoll being the first to "contract" this disease straights from the "source".

Mrs Driscoll wears a shirt with purple and yellow flowers on it (and red/white), similar to the ones that Mike handed El when he got to California:

(Steve brought a bouquet of roses for Nancy in an effort to get her back in s2 and Dustin jokingly asks which Wheeler parent its for)

Mind you we see rose symbolism with other female characters also. Robin Rose Weaver, who is adorned in pink and white + pearls (like Holly also) and a flower-shaped hair accessory. Robin is uncomfortable with this look as it "not her". Tammy Thompson- implying that femininity is a "performance". Angela, who represents how women bully each other into conforming with her actions towards El. Billy's mother, who wears a red flower on her beach outfit. I spoke about it here, no need to repeat it again.

Tabitha, Suzie's sister, also shares this style while in the same style while pretending to choke, like El.

As for the Wheeler men- beyond the obvious clothing parallels, we can see conflation of Eddie and Henry's parents, who have done "awful things" but hide behind a role. Ted and Mike have paralleled serial killer references in s4, which I spoke about more extensively in this post but Ill put a bit here:

Three serial killer name drops in s4: Michael Meyers, Ted Bundy, and Freddy Krueger (predators).

In fact when they name drop Ted Bundy they conflate him with Eddie Munson. Twice in that one scene actually.

The most simple play on names is apparent here. Both Eddie and Ted are short for Edward.

(and this line which low key reminds me of the The First Shadow casting call - [GUNSHOT])

But also just the focus on the Wheeler (Nancy) when serial killers are brought up as Robin is speaking about Vecna in this scene:

Also Jason's little list of where to look for Eddie specifically says Wheeler's (apostrophe designating a short hand for saying the Wheeler home) although in the show itself there is no indication from any character or scene that Jason ever checked out the Wheeler home personally unless he counts just observing briefly it from the Sinclair's next door that morning:

Anyways, if Jason's and Henry's monologues are meant to be mirrors of one another (Eddie's DnD roleplying club as a front = Conformity/nuclear family as a role to hide a "terrible lie" and "awful things" that were done) what does this line double meaning from Jason's monologue mean to you in the context of the Wheelers?

"We've all heard how satanic cults are spreading through our country like some… some disease. And Eddie Munson is the leader of one of these cults. A cult that operates here in Hawkins.[...] A club. A club. A harmless club. That's what they want you to think. But it's a lie. A lie designed to conceal the truth [shot to the Wheelers]. And now this cult is protecting its leader, Eddie. Hiding him. Allowing him to… to continue his rampage."

Which is analogous to: "I became an explorer. I saw my parents as they truly were. To the world, they presented themselves as good, normal people. But like everything else in this world, it was all a lie. A terrible lie. They had done things, Eleven. Such awful things."

Of course, abstractly, this is all a metaphor for how the cultural enforcement of the nuclear family only perpetuates the cycle of broken families.

Women are pressured into marrying men with no other choice -> they grow unsatisfied and resentful of their husbands for being abusive/emotionally neglectful and all the opportunities they gave up (cancer) -> an unhappy and resentful mother is not adequately there for her children emotionally -> her sons are not emotionally supported and are taught regardless that "boys dont cry" -> son then go onto marry a woman (even if he doesn't wan to) -> son mirrors his own upbringing having not unlearned it and becomes the emotionally neglectful/abusive/distant husband with an unhappy and resentful wife (infection spread) -> the cycle repeats

Interestingly enough when Nancy was vecna'd we get an interesting scene, shifting from miketed's Fred's mangled body to the rose door:

But what does Lucas say at the end of s4 to Jason?

I’m trying to clear the air because there is so much misinformation speculation and hearsay surrounding this mess. Kyle Carrozza did not get that animator fired. In fact, Kyle wasn’t even working with them when he cut ties with them. That is misinformation. He also has no power to blacklist anybody. Absolutely none. That’s speculative paranoia. He did not in any way harass, bully or threaten the artist. The artist can’t find work rn because it’s hard to find work right now. The industry is simply a mess. The artist is using Kyle as a reason for not finding work when he hasn’t done anything to prevent them from finding work. Kyle had every right to cut ties with someone for drawing sexually explicit art of minors like the baudelaire kids from a series of unfortunate events. They were posting it publicly where real kids could see it. He had every right to cut ties with this person. I am astonished people are defending an artist who draws sexually explicit child porn. Saying it’s their coping mechanism is a crutch. There’s no excuse for putting that out there publicly unless it’s for attention. PUBLICLY. Where kids and survivors could be triggered by it! I say this as a CSA survivor. Kyle Carrozza is being used as a scapegoat to excuse their own actions. The artist faked DID at one point. Nobody knows for certain if this artist truly on their deathbed or just faking it for attention.

One thing is certain. This artist is spreading lies and conspiracy and if they’re found out to be lying there could potentially be legal repercussions. Hello you are allowed to clear air, but there is a lot of evidence going about that shows Kyle did not protect Ang (they were supposed friends at one point) as a friend should have. He did get Ang fired because he exposed her graphic porn account to his followers which are mostly minors very inappropriate and HIGHLY ILLEGAL. Angs account was locked before it was exposed and do you remember New Grounds from way back when you could post almost anything? You can be disgusted by the art Ang drew but Kyle did the same thing and voiced it too. If you are going to be disgusted with Ang for drawing underage characters having sex then the same energy should be given to Kyle for drawing "sexually explicit child porn" or in this case, implied "sexually explicit child porn". This little animation bit should put him on the same level as Ang.

Critics:

I cannot speak for faking mental disorders but this is the internet and I have seen people lie about worse. Please refer to the following threads about how this callout post led to Ang being swarmed by antis that are mainly brainwashed minors that should not be discussing such topics because they are not mature enough to handle such situations. This whole situation led to Ang being fired. Her health insurance was tied to her job and since she is disabled it is hard for her to find work in a field she qualifies for and also provides decent insurance for her health. I am not sure her specific disability but it is none of my business and I am aware that it is life threatening. Since it has been 2 years since this incident she has not found work in her qualifying field and still hasn't had insurance. Ang is in the process of End of Life care by someone close and has basically accepted death. But yes, let's protect the guy who helped and encouraged putting a disabled rape victim in her place.

Ang also testifying her time working at CN HQ where she endured a lot of inappropriate treatment. Including her treatment from Kyle himself (link to thread included)

Judging from what you have sent to me, you haven't done much research and have biasedly picked side. I am not a fan of underaged characters being drawn in sexually explicit ways but it is not criminal. I talked about Mizumi deleting the AO3 version of her 2nd anti-komahina essay, and all of the comments along with it. I still haven't found an archive of it, but that's alright, because thanks to a very helpful source (you know who you are, and thank you again SO MUCH), screenshots of some of the more important comments are still alive.

And that's not all! The very helpful source (once again, thank you so SO much) has supplied other screenshots of mizumi's interactions over the years, as well as various other miscellaneous stuff. They also provided context to each one, so I'll be using quotation marks and italicized text to quote exactly what they said.
