hello!!! :)
I wanted to ask if you'll be interested in doing a birthday hc for the sisters or a story on each because even though the girls can't leave or have friends I would think Alcina still gives them a birthday where they get privileges and gifts.
I think it would be so cute of what the other sisters get for each other and what they do with it!
How you have a good day!! And as always injoy
Hi, hon :)! Absolutely, some HCs for their bday!🙌 A great day to everyone
Masterlists
Having been reborn mere hours apart, their birthdays are originally linked together
The 12th of April, every year, their birthday
And while all three girls loved each other dearly, Alcina and they themselves could tell; they were getting more and more tired of a shared birthday each year
By their twentieth birthday, it was Daniela who finally spoke up, equipped with by then already well trained, wet puppy eyes and her sisters standing behind her, trying to copy the look
Alcina nearly melted at the sight
“Mama, can we have a different birthday?”
At first, she didn’t understand. How could they dislike their birthday?
Did she not make it special enough for them?
Was it the restrictions? She knew of the yearnings her daughters had, to see the outside, to leave the castle grounds to explore a little, always promising they’d be back on time
Their wish was never granted. Was this the reason for that?
Apparently not
Instead, it was sharing their birthday
Alcina smiled warmly at them as she heard this, and with this large smile, easily scooped the three women in her large arms
As kisses were pressed all over their faces and they squealed and giggled loudly, the mother of three easily agreed and approved of their question
Of course, each of her precious daughters shall get a day dedicated to her. Only her birthday, then
Bela
While tempted to choose another date, she decided to stick with the original
The 12th of April
Her birthday, and only hers, now
While disliking the sharing aspect, she now loves her birthdays and secretly looks forward to them
Usually, she will act like she isn’t bothered by her birthday coming up
Secretly, her eyes scan her family members for any change in their behaviour. Do they know it’s her birthday soon?
Of course, they never forget. Not once
Unlike her sisters, Bela doesn’t mind the loneliness that can creep up on one in the castle. She doesn’t mind
In fact, she couldn’t care less. She has her family, and those are all that matter to her
She isn’t sorry for her lack of friends, neither on her birthday, nor any other day. Her sisters are her friends, as annoying as they can be
However, she does appreciate being able to get out on her birthday
Often, her birthday starts out by waking up curled into Alcina, having been granted to sleep in her bed throughout the night
All too eager to curl up and bask in her mother’s love and warmth, her birthday signals one of the only times Bela will sleep in a little
Breakfast is always her favourite, a rich palette of foods from the outside, some sweet, some bitter, some salty. She loves to try them all
After, she is bathed in rich oils and dressed in a beautiful, red dress. Again, one of the few times she is not wearing her usual attire
Often, her day then starts out by a stroll through the gardens with Alcina
It is worth mentioning, the mother of three always makes sure she is free on her girls’ birthdays, always
In the garden, she gets to bask in the sun and drag her bare fingertips over the many soft flowers blooming already
She sits at the gazebo, her head in her mother’s lap, her hair played with, her golden eyes closed as she is read to
Each year from the same type of books. Greek mythology
Bela enjoys the time spent together immensely, and can’t help but giggle when, always, eventually they are found by her sisters
Being tackled and wrestled with, she is always pulled into Daniela’s arms, her face peppered with kisses while Cassandra laughs at her pitiful whines and scolding
“Happy birthday, Bela!”, Daniela is always ecstatic to announce, her arms tight around her older sister
“You’re even older now”, she occasionally adds, to which Bela usually only rolls her eyes
Now, each year it is planned to save the gift giving until nightttime. And each year, too excited and impatient, her sisters present her with theirs in the gardens in the gazebo already
Daniela’s is often very well thought out
A book perfectly suiting her sister’s tastes, perfume, prey caught by her, jewellery, or even something self-made
This year, Bela beams as she sees the fairytale book, written in latin and German, English and Spanish, Romanian and French, containing all Grimm tales and thoughts
The perfect gift to promise not only sleepless nights caused by the hyper-fixation this would cause, but also time with her youngest sister
She smiles softly, her mind already painting the scene of Daniela tucked into her side in her bed, her eyes small and heavy from sleep, lips parting to ask her sister to read but a few more pages
And Bela? She always gives in, her fingertip stroking along her sister’s pink button nose, her voice steady as she first reads, then translates and reads aloud
It’s one of her favourite ways to spend time with her youngest sister
Then, Cassandra steps forward, her dress red in what some might believe to be dried blood
Bela? She knows better, and feels a large smile spread on her lips at the realisation. No, not blood. Paint. Her sister had been painting
And even as Daniela just scoffs when Cassandra throws a dead maid, beautiful, no doubt, to Bela, the eldest knows her true gift lies hidden in her room
Knowing of her sister’s wish to keep this hobby a secret, she merely shoots her a wide and loving smile, enough for the brunette to know; she understood, and is thankful
Cassandra’s eyes flicker slightly, then an equally wide grin appears on her face
She knows; her sister will love her gift, she always does!
And that she does again this year, by far later at the day, when she discovers the painting of the unruly sea and an underwater forest hidden within
Beautiful…just as she had described it dreamily to her sister mere weeks ago
Alcina smiles at the scent in front of her, her heart aching lovingly at the clear happiness visible on her daughters’ faces
The rest of the day is spent doing what Bela enjoys best
Sometimes, this is hunting, sometimes, this means playing games with her sisters and mother, sometimes it means reading together
At night, only, is when she receives her last gift
With her sisters back in their rooms and the mood having quieted down, Bela feels almost giddy to see her present
She is sat on Alcina’s spacious lap, the stuffed animal left by Daniela held in her hand
Both of them laugh lightly at the little giraffe staring up at them. In moments like this, Bela feels immense happiness and safety. Only in her mother’s embrace, where all is safe and comfortable, where no harm can reach her. No cold, no man-things, not her own thoughts
Her gift is, at last, presented to her. A key, small and unassuming looking. Bela tilts her head
When Alcina rises and begins to walk, she is quick to swarm after her
She finds- the key unlocks a door close to her bedroom, just as unassuming looking as the key. She smiles widely in anticipation: this usually means she is receiving something her sisters don’t have, or something her sisters would like to have
And right she is, for her golden eyes widen when the door opens and the room is revealed to her
“Mother?”, she asks, almost in disbelief. With a gentle hand pushing at her shoulder blade, Bela takes a step inside
The room is decorated with a desk and a comfortable chair, a sofa, two bookshelves, and: a white canvas on the wall, set up for the movie projector. Next to it, a small desk and shelf labeled “film rolls”
She breathes shakily as her fingertips trail over it
When she first sleepily told her mother of her desire to see the movies shown at Donna’s for herself, to see nature and make her own movies containing her knowledge, she thought it might be labeled silly
Yet; it seems her wish was taken more serious than even Bela dared to take it
With a sob, she hugs herself to her mother’s hip, her cool skin pressed into the soft fabric of her dress
“Happy Birthday, my little fly”
Cassandra
Being the unhappiest of the trio with a shared birthday, she was eager to choose her own date
Now, her first thought was in December. A winter month! How badass!
However…a quick glance and note from Bela had her mind; then she couldn’t go outside at all on her birthday..
Perhaps summer it would have to be, then
And so she settled on the 16th of June instead. Warm, perfect for hunting, the season in which most maidens attempt to escape
Now, Cassandra is oddly shy about her birthday
She wants it to be a special day. She just doesn’t want people to know this
Especially on her birthday, though, she tends to feel trapped. She wants out, badly, just for a little bit
She wants to see the world, on her birthday more than ever. Wouldn’t this be a wonderful gift?
She asks for it every year, yet it is never granted to her, and only denied with a sad sigh and a kiss to her forehead
She usually talks to her “friends”, the few prisoners left alive. Rambling as she brings the blades and whips down on them over and over again, ignoring their cries and screams as she keeps talking
They rarely survive, and she doesn’t attempt to keep them alive, either
They merely serve the purpose of being made to listen to her ramble, and to keep her entertained
As she awakens on her birthday this year, uncharacteristically early, she immediately swarms out of bed
Still in her pyjamas, she swarms into Alcina’s bed, on top of the woman, and shakes her as hard as she can
“Mother! Mother! Mother, it’s my birthday! Mama!”
When golden eyes open at last, Cassandra at last slides down her body and onto the soft mattress again, her hands stopping from shaking her
“It’s my birthday, Mother”, she announces, as if the older woman truly needed a reminder
And after a few minutes of orienting herself, Alcina does blink away sleep and shoots her middle child a loving smile “Yes, my fierce little huntress, I will get ready”
At this, Cassandra grins. She returns to her room to get dressed, her flies buzzing excitedly
Each year her birthday begins by going out to hunt with her Mother. Each year they hunt for a varcaloc, the largest predator found near the village
She swarms as fast as she can, her sickle and daggers swinging wildly, her teeth bared, her mother close behind her
Still, the first drop of blood is hers to cause, and as soon as her sickle rips through fur and flesh, she laughs and hears claws unseathe
Really, she loves watching her mother hunt! Such elegance, such brutality, such speed and strength!
Even Alcina knows in every second of this activity, Cassandra is staring, and she is her role model, in such moments more than ever
Each year, the beast is slain, and this year is no different
Yet, their trip to the forest does not end. With their prey dropped off at the castle again, Alcina feels fingers grab her wrist tightly and tug
“Come on, Mama! Hurry!”
Now comes the truly exciting part!
Cassandra swarms and runs fast, her dress getting caught a few times as she speeds through the forest
Then, she stops abruptly. Golden eyes widen and water for a moment
She feels so much emotion all at once, here, at the border of the hunting grounds
She knows not to pass them without permission, ever. And she never does
Yet, her birthday is different
With a graceful step, Alcina walks forwards, stepping past the invisible line in Cassandra’s head
Gently, she cups her daughter’s cheek and takes her hand. Then, she too, takes a step forwards
Immediately, she laughs, loud and cheerful
She knows not to stray away, not to hide, not to play around where Mother can’t see or reach her. But this- is her own little world of freedom
She swarms up and down, feels the ground and smells the air as though it was any different from the one within the hunting grounds
Alcina watches, a soft smile on her lips, but pain in her heart. She sees, each year as she grants her daughter this, how badly her little fly craves this freedom. And yet, with hunters and poachers, outsiders and soldiers- and not to mention the unpredictable cold and environment- about, she cannot allow it
She knows this, both of them do. Cassandra no longer blames her mother for this choice, but treasures the times she is allowed outside, even if it is under supervision
After some minutes, she bends to pick up a rock, then nods to Alcina. They know, it’s time to go again already, even as Cassandra yearns to stay here with her mother
The rest of the day is spent playing with her sisters, chasing Daniela through the castle until she squeals and shrieks from the base fear of being caught, only to roll about and giggle when she eventually is
She often receives her younger sister’s present in the form of a new weapon or belt, and is always eager to try it out right away
Naturally, Daniela follows her, so that the majority of the day is easily spent hunting together
Bela’s present is given in the privacy of her room, as Cassandra’s lips pull to a shy, but large smile when her sister presents her with new art supplies
“Do you want to..stay for a bit?”
Bela never refuses this special offer, and watches with great interest as her sister rambles on about what supplies are used for and best for what
As the only one in the family aware of her painting hobby, Cassandra loves sharing her work with her older sister
She is always rewarded with showers of praise that have her headbutt the woman’s cheek or neck and have her flies buzz loudly
One birthday, she asks Bela for a favour that has her cheeks burn from embarrassment before her words can even get out. Thankfully, her sister understands
With a blindfold covering golden eyes, Cassandra’s embarrassment fades a little
She is concentrated as she fixes her sister’s dark blue dress, adjusting parts that she wanted to stick out, fixing her hair and gently applying the deep red lipstick
Then, she begins her work. A sketch, at first, she works concentrated
Never would she admit her sister is her muse, the only one to support and know of her hobby, the one she trusts fully, the one to inspire her to keep going with her art and the one to praise her pieces after
Cassandra smiles warmly as she watches her sister sit, perfectly still as asked, completely trusting
Another reminder to her, with a tug of her heart, why she loves her family to very much
And yet, a single gift remains
Cassandra watches curiously as, late at night, Alcina at last sits down on her bed, a box in her hand
“Happy Birthday, my curious little fly”
Eager, she all but rips the box to shreds to get to what is inside
Alcina laughs, having added extra layers and paper wrapping the gift
She knows, after all, how her little huntress enjoys tearing it apart to access what reward lies within
And what a reward indeed
At first, Cassandra is unsure what it is. A book? She pulls a grimace that makes her mother laugh and tap her chin. With a giggle, she fixes her face again and instead stares up at the older woman in confusion
“Open it, mica musca”
Again, she eagerly obeys, yet-
Cassandra gasps when she sees the content, her golden eyes widening, her flies buzzing loud as she immediately swarms onto Alcina’s lap and nearly shoves the album into her Mother’s face
“Mother! Look! What’s that?!”
The photo album shows a photograph of pyramids. Cassandra lowers the album again to get a good look again
And Alcina? She explains, her voice steady, her fingers gently scratching against Cassandra’s scalp. Loud buzzing and purr-like sounds were her reward
Amazed, more questions follow
Easily, the next hours and evenings are spent together, with Cassandra asking more and more and Alcina openly talking about all that is to see in the many photographs in the album
Each morning, she finds it tucked close to her daughter’s chest, her little piece of freedom, her little glimpse of the world outside the village
Daniela
Getting to choose her own birthday had her feel giddy with excitement. She immediately came up with more and more and more and more
Many dates, some symbolic, some merely on the list because they sound nice
She too, originally went for a winter month. After noticing her older sister change it up, naturally, she copied her
In the end, she settles for the 1st of July
She loves her birthday though, and always has. Even when she still shared it with her sisters
At first, she thought she was bothered by that particular fact
Yet, now she is no longer sharing it with them, she feels…lonely, almost
What a lonely day it has become to her, even as she still gets to spend it with her family
And yet, she yearns to have a lover or friends to spend it with. Such things seem denied to her, though, for the staff just won’t last
Often, she’d bed someone on her birthday, desperate for intimacy and love
Always, she’d kill them before the clock struck midnight
They were never real, never looked at her with real love in their eyes, never looked at her with real care
Sometimes, with desire. Desire that almost made her feel seen. They congratulated her on her birthday, and yet..they had no idea how old she even
Still, each year, she tries her best not to let loneliness affect her
Feeling overly clingy on her birthday, Daniela is often found starting her day in the beds of her sisters. Whether when snatching Bela’s blankets and cuddling into her side, or seeing how many knives she can balance on top of Cassandra until she’d wake up, one thing is clear:
Daniela doesn’t want to be alone on her birthday
She is with her sisters until they awaken, not having the heart to send their younger sister off and kick her out of their room on this special day to her
She giggles loudly as she is chased down to the dining hall for breakfast, her flies buzzing, her lips pulled into a grin
Immediately, her arms wrap around Alcina when she sees her. She sticks her tongue out at her sisters, signalling she was once again the fastest to get to their mother
The breakfast table is full of almost overly sweet things from all around the world. A special privilege reserved for birthdays only
And she enjoys it, digging in eagerly, eating blood-covered candy and snatching some more from Cassandra’s plate when she is busy flirting with the help
Often, she climbs on the lap of whoever is closest to her, then, her big, golden eyes on display as she asks to receive her presents early already
How could they deny her, really?
And so, she is grinning and has her flies buzzing excitedly when she receives what she wants
This year, she is especially excited. She knows, something big will be her present this year, by the way her family would often smile or smirk the past months, as if they knew something she did not
Surely, it had to be a surprise!
And it is, certainly
Bela is the first to present her gift to her sister, a large box wrapped in bright red wrapping paper
Daniela giggles in joy, her sharp, claw-like nails already digging into the paper. Eagerly, she shreds the box, only to find another, also wrapped, within
Again, she laughs happily. More to unpack?! She’s over the moon!
And then? Another smaller one in that one! Two layers of wrapping paper!
And another!
Then, at last, she discovers her present:
Four books; one romance, one a fantasy-romance, another a crime-romance book and another a collection of poems! Daniela’s smile widens with each book she discovers
Then, a small stuffed animal. A brown rabbit, with pink ears
She gasps at the sight and the softness of its fur, and immediately the stuffed animal is sat on her lap
And lastly, a small bottle of perfume
She smiles, recognizing the scent
It’s the smell clinging to her eldest sister, the perfume Daniela would always steal. Clearly, she was not being as subtle as she thought she was
With a tight hug and bright smile, she thanks her sister. Then, a loud whine is brought from her lips as she feels Cassandra’s hand rubbing against the top of her head
“Awhh! Getting older eh? You’ll always be our baby sister, don’t worry”, she coos in what was meant to be a teasing and mocking tone
Alas, it brings a large grin to Daniela’s face nonetheless
Her gift? A blade, the handle bound in leather, the blade and tip sharp. A series of small, yellow gemstones embedded in the bottom of the handle
She gasps again, happily. She recognizes this one as belonging to her sister, too!
Cassandra’s dagger, the one used to toy with and injure prey, shiny in the sun, glistening at night!
She immediately grips it tightly and grins at her sister. She is now a great huntress, too!
Again, she hugs her sister tightly, giggling as she steals another treat off her plate when she isn’t looking
And lastly, she turns her head to her mother at the head of the table, her eyes wide and another giggle falling from her hips when the woman stands up
Eagerly, she swarms around her as she walks. She laughs loudly as her and Cassandra start chasing each other, with Bela and Alcina serving as fun obstacles or safe spots, depending on whether or not she is losing their chase
Going outside, she grips her new dagger a little tighter. She hopes, some poor soul is outside when they aren’t supposed to be
She itches to try her new weapon out!
Alas, it seems she must wait until nightttime
Still, something large catches her attention in the distance. An addition to the castle?
After moments, she no longer wants to wait for her family to catch up. She swarms ahead, effortlessly proving her status as the fastest of the four yet again
Then, she nearly shrieks in excitement as she comes face to face with three horses, hay, riding equipment and much more
Horses?!
A dream!
Having asked for horses and being taught to ride one since early in her reborn life, yet never receiving one, Daniela has almost given up hope
Almost
After all, it was always either the Lycans being too aggressive, her sister being too aggressive, the temperatures, or the maidens attempting to escape that got in the way
She stretches out her hand gently, smiling when the first horse bumps its head against her palm
The black soft, short fur is warm underneath her fingers, and as dark brown eyes look back into hers, she smiles again
“Are you happy, my dove?”, Alcina asks, though, she really just wanted to see the youngest’s lips stretch into a large grin yet again
Daniela nods fast, her hand pulling back only when she throws her arms around her mother “Yes, mama!”, she confirms
Already she thinks of the freedom the animals offer her, and the freedom the mere thought of them have always offered her
She spends the rest of the morning and afternoon at the stables, petting and kissing the animals’ heads and brushing their fur gently
She comes up with names quickly, though is sure to take her time considering them
For the white horse, spots, referencing to the small, black spots scattered across the animal’s neck and back
For the light brown one, Maximus, named after a horse in one of her favorite books
And lastly, the black one, that never fails to have her feel as though there is a connection
This one, she decides, will bear the name Apollo
At night, this night, things are better for once. She feels less lonely, even as she can’t share her bed with a lover
Instead, she is cuddled into Bela’s waist, Cassandra’s hand tangled in her hair and nails scratching along her scalp gently
Her arm rests across Alcina’s thigh, and light purr-like noises are dragged from the youngest as her arm is stroked and scratched lightly
With Bela’s voice filling the empty room as she reads from one of the newest books, Daniela is at last, for once, able to fall asleep peacefully on her birthday

OKAY VASHWOOD KIDS ON THE HEAD THIS AFTERNOON HHNNG
While I do think that them having kids of their own is super cute and such a nice thing for them both, I am personally a Vash and Wolfwood adopting children truther. Best part is it was Not Even On Purpose.
The times are less aggressive, their lives are less violent (compared to before) and they are both a lot more free. They aren’t used to living a settled life, in spite of finally having a little home of their own at the outskirts of December.
They still travel around without an aim or clear purpose most often than not. They would visit old friends and the times they decided to stay in a place for a bit longer would either be at Home or the Hopeland Orphanage.
They like it that way. It’s familiar and they don’t have to watch for their heads as much as they did before. They are finally experiencing a much more gentler life of their own.
I imagine them stumbling with some kids, let’s say three, that live on their own in one of their trips. They offer to bring them to the Hopeland Orphanage like they usually do to orphaned kids, so they can live more peacefully. They accept after some more convincing.
During that trip they get to live a bit more closely with the children compared to the way they do with the kids back at the orphanage. They love them oh they do, with all their heart, but the closeness they experience with everyone at the orphanage is more of a caretaker sort of approach and nothing as intimate as taking care of them so personally.
The bumpy trip basically obligated them to be more close to the kids, spending nights and days with them, protecting them from danger, cooking meals for their little group of five, spending a few days in different towns to unwind and buy more resources. It was nice, traveling together like that (even if it did get a little dangerous every now and then when they stumbled upon a fight or two).
The kids start to get very attached to them, and both Vash and Wolfwood admittedly were feeling the same way too. They knew they couldn’t keep the kids, not with their wanderers life style and the danger that was still always present (not as terrible as before, but trouble would always be a part of them as it seemed).
Once they got to December to finally leave the kids at the Orphanage, they decide it’s a good time for them to have one of their long stays at the orphanage until their next trip. All of the kids love them both, and they return the sentiment as well. However, it’s evident how their closeness was bigger with the kids they just traveled around with. They knew a bit more about each other with more precision, they were a bit more affectionate with them, the kids would look for Wolfwood and Vash so they could spend more time together. It wasn’t rare for the kids to go and sleep with either of them at night or taking naps with them, but those three particular children would always sleep with them, all snuggled up and warm in their embrace.
It was nice, it almost felt like a little family of their own. Wolfwood remembers how nice it was to live in the orphanage with the other kids, and Vash loved his time with Rem and Knives when they were little, not to mention the people at Home later on, but neither of them really had a grasp of something in their lives they could call wholly theirs, something stable, something constant.
Their stay at the orphanage lasted from their usual month and a half to two months, and then three, until they thought it was a good time for some time of their own back at their little house (living with so many kids always around the corner didn’t provide much space for privacy, much less now that the three kids would follow them as if they were their shadows).
The kids were disappointed and a little sad that their time to leave had come already, even if they had stayed longer than what they usually did this time. Their three little kids were the ones that looked the most anguished from them all, and neither Nick or Vash missed that detail.
When they arrived to their home, they cleaned first, the dust had settled in their house and they could barely move without gusts of it coming to invade their lungs. After they quickly got rid of the most they could they finally got to rest and get some alone time of their own.
The days passed, and the quiet time between them was appreciated, but it felt a bit too quiet. They had quickly grown used to the noise that came with being around the kids in that short time. Maybe it was thanks to the fact that their lives were much kinder now, but something inside of them itched at the thought of not having the kids by their side, of not being together.
They knew what it was after sparing it a second to think of it a bit more.
“You know, I think it would be nice if we stay in here for a bit longer” Vash said out of the blue one day while they were making breakfast together, a soft and genuine smile hanging on his face.
“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing” Wolfwood answered back with a smile of his own, focused at chopping a portion of vegetables a bit too big for two people, it was probably enough to feed five mouths perhaps.

Restraint (Wriothesley)
Tumblr media
TAGS: Alpha!Wriothesley/Omega!F!reader, a/b/o, breeding, impregnation, knotting, mating, drabble Ao3 ver.
Iɴ ᴡʜɪᴄʜ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜᴜsʙᴀɴᴅ ғɪɴᴅs ᴛʜᴇ ɢʟᴏᴡ ᴏғ ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀʜᴏᴏᴅ ᴏɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴜᴛᴛᴇʀʟʏ ɪʀʀᴇsɪsᴛɪʙʟᴇ.
“Sweet, precious omega….so kind for letting me fill up her womb and give her pups. I know motherhood will look perfect on you…”
Wriothesley never really thought of himself as a slave to his desires, even when he presented as an alpha. He always viewed himself as a very restrained individual, someone who knew what he was capable of and was able to adequately hold himself back without trouble.
For a man in his position and with his line of work, self-restraint is a necessity lest he be known not as a warden but as a punisher of sinners. He was not a vigilante, no matter how much some people might wish him to be.
“Apologies for making you wait so long for my knot, mon ange. I HAD to make sure we were bound together under the eyes of men and gods first. But now, nothing is holding us back anymore from starting the family we always wanted…”
If only you knew the pains he experienced trying not to rip the beautiful dress he’d bought you to shreds before mounting you then and there for everyone to see. Despite being covered head to toe in soft lace, silks, and frills, even just the flash of the skin on your neck where your glands were had his canines aching to sink into them and finally mark you.
But that is all behind you now, because he’d finally gotten your marriage registered, just in time for your heat and his rut to align. Certainly, it must have been a sign that you were both simply meant to be.
The stretch of his bulbous knot had you mewling and whimpering, especially when Wriothesley would shallowly pump his cock, making his cum slosh inside your pussy with every movement. The heat and weight of his body atop yours is comforting, especially with how utterly spent yet stuffed you felt. The matching teeth marks on both your necks tingled pleasantly and soothingly as you waited things out.
The both of you managed to get some solid rest for half an hour before continuing your frantic mating.
The next time the rest of Fontaine sees the Duke, it is to the sight of him hovering over his heavily pregnant wife.

Hummingbird Has Landed, ch 1
Marcus Pike x female reader Co-written with @absurdthirst
Tumblr media
After the debacle of his failed engagement and relocating to Washington to take charge of his task force, newly minted Special Agent Marcus Pike is ready to get back out into the dating pool once more. A slew of bad dates has him feeling a little down, and he takes an old friend up on an invitation to get away and get his head on straight. Imagine his surprise when he finds not only fresh air, but his soulmate as well - hiding in plain sight but in the unlikeliest of places.
Rating: Mature, but this blog is always 18+ Word Count: 14.4k Warnings: *Blanket warnings for this series: occasional mention of American politics, pregnant character, food/alcohol consumption, mentions of clothing/regulated dressing for occasions, mentions of therapy because we believe in self care here, reader is in a previous relationship, love triangle* Not much for this chapter! Mostly fluff, a little flirting, and playful but on-point use of the term 'tramp stamp'. Summary: On a failed date at the local market, Marcus runs into an old friend and gets an invitation to visit. The beautiful inn and fantastic food were explicit in the invite -- but you are a complete surprise to him. Notes: Welcome, welcome, welcome my lovelies! As a girl who grew up on The West Wing and fosters an unapologetic love of all things romance, a story like this has been on my wish list to write for a very long time. I hope you're all ready for a cast of new characters and the grand appearance of Pedro's character from Graceland, because it's time for Marcus Pike to meet his soulmate! 🧡🧡🧡
Tumblr media
There’s something about the hustle and bustle of D.C., that while it can invigorate someone and inspire them to live life as fast as possible, it can also drain them. At least, that’s what Marcus Pike has learned from the last three years of therapy. That and he’s prone to rushing into relationships, being in love with love, as Dr. Barnes would caution him.
It seems sometimes as if he’s unlucky in love, despite the universe providing a perfect match for him, he’s never found her. Always looking, but also being open to loving someone who doesn’t share marks or scars. Someone who just wants a stable and steady man to worship them and give them the world.
He hasn’t dated in almost three years. His therapist had advised him to focus on himself. To work through his emotions of a failed college marriage, a failed engagement. To make himself happy with who he is before introducing another person into the mix. He had thought that’s what he was doing, but apparently he had been wrong.
Finally feeling ready to date again, he had dipped his toes back in the water. Only to have it backfire tremendously. So much so, that he finds himself walking around the Eastern Market on his own. His idea of a farmer’s market casual date obviously not a good one, according to the woman who had tossed the drink he had bought her on the trash and stomped off, abandoning him to feel like a fool.
Smiling faces beam back at him from the covers of glossy gossip magazines, flashing headlines critiquing fashions worn to the recent inauguration ceremony and parties. The new president and her family wave from above the fold of newspapers — the happy family that Marcus himself doesn’t have. Ignoring the rude reminder, he wanders through the stalls and vendors of Eastern Market aimlessly until he reaches the family-owned sweet shop that he’s been coming to for years now. They know him, and like him, and his sweet tooth knows no bounds. There’s another man at the counter just before Marcus so he stands back, but Jenny waves hello from behind the counter. “Morning Marcus! Gimme one second and I’ll be right with you.” She says, turning back to the order marked Juan in her big, looping handwriting. “Six cannoli, right? Two pistachio, two double chocolate, and two cherry chocolate?”
“Right.” The man in a corduroy jacket with his short hair trimmed neatly nods. “Thanks, Jen. The girls are going to be over the moon.”
Another reminder of a life he craves. Marcus frowns slightly and tries to remember what his therapist has told him. Everyone moves at their own pace. Just because he’s not juggling two kids, a dog and a lovely wife with his workload doesn’t mean he’s failing. It just means he’s not met the right person, soulmate or not.
The other man pays for his order and turns to leave but stops dead in the middle of a cordial nod when he sees Marcus standing a few feet away. Sure he had heard Jenny say hi to someone…but he hadn’t looked. Now though? He huffs a laugh at the ghost of his past. “Pike?” They’d been mistaken as brothers — or for each other — so many times back at the Academy that it would be impossible not to recognize Marcus Pike.
“Badillo?” It’s amazing to see the other agent, although he had heard that he had left the Bureau after a friendly fire shooting. He looks good though, and Marcus cracks into the first real grin of the morning since being left high and dry. “What the hell? How are you doing, man?” He asks, coming in for a friendly hug while being mindful of the box in Juan’s hand.
“Good! Good. Errands.” Juan huffs, returning Marcus’s hug with equal surprise and affection. The men had been quite good friends at one time, more than a few years ago now. “Pregnant wife gets whatever pregnant wife wants, ya know?” He grins, bright and shining. “When did you get back to DC?”
“Pregnant wife, huh?” Despite the knife to his heart, Marcus paints on a grin, happy for his old friend. “Three years ago.” He shrugs slightly. “Heading up Art Crimes now. How about you? I heard you got out.” He lifts his eyebrows, allowing Juan to talk if he wants or brush it off if he doesn’t.
“I did.” Juan nods, knowing that various stories circulated after he left the Bureau. Most of them false. “Decided to take a little road trip vacation to clear my head and ended up meeting my soulmate in Yosemite on day two of the whole thing, and I followed her East.” He shrugs, ever the unapologetic romantic just like Marcus. They had had that in common. “How’s Lara?” He asks, remembering the woman that had been Mrs. Pike during their Academy days. Marcus had been over the moon for her. “Is she liking being back?”
Marcus grimaces a little and shrugs. “She’s, uh, we got divorced about ten years ago.” He tells him. “She found out she did have a soulmate.”
“Ah shit.” Blowing out a breath and shuffling his feet, Juan rubs the back of his neck self-consciously. “I’m sorry, man. That’s—there’s just no easy way to get through something like that.”
“It’s okay.” Marcus had loved Lara, but he wasn’t going to stand in the way of soulmates. It wouldn’t be right. “It was actually a very easy divorce; she hated hurting me. More than I can say for the last date, or last fiancée I’ve had.”
“Shit.” Juan huffs again, shaking his head in disbelief. “It’s eleven in the morning but I feel like I ought to be buying you a drink, man.” Hearing that someone as genuinely good as Marcus Pike is has had his heart bashed so often is a fucking bummer, and Juan chews on his lip for a second before his head tilts in that Universal signal of natural curiosity. “I’ve got time today. If you want to hang out? Catch up?” He offers, knowing that drinks will most likely come later if the two old friends spend the day getting back on the same page.
Marcus chuckles, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Do I look that dejected?” He asks, even though he’s not really looking for an answer. “I was supposed to be on a date, I figured a farmer’s market/brunch date would be easy enough and yet thoughtful, but I was ditched.” He snorts. “I have zero luck it seems.” He nods his head towards the cannoli. “But you can’t leave your pregnant wife waiting on those.”
“No, I can’t.” Sydney is waiting back at the restaurant with bated breath, he knows that, but he does offer Marcus a smile. “But she does run a restaurant, so you don’t have to be brunch-less unless you choose to be.”
“Yeah?” He perks up at the idea of trying out a new place, always loving brunch foods. “Where at? I might have to take a spin over there.”
“Her place is called Il Corvo.” It takes a second, but Juan digs a business card for the restaurant out of his jacket pocket and hands it over. “It’s the in-house restaurant at The Inn at Jones Point in Alexandria.” He reports proudly, always ready to brag about his soulmate’s amazing success. Running a restaurant is no small feat. “I know the card says the dining room opens at 4pm, but ignore that. She does brunch for guests at the inn and for special guests from time to time.”
“Are you sure?” Marcus frowns slightly. “I don’t want to impose.”
“It’s not imposing, trust me.” Knowing his wife as well as he does, Juan is more than certain she’ll be doting on Marcus in no time. “As long as you’re on board for Italian food, come by any time you want.”
“I’m out on the bike.” Marcus tells Juan, remembering how the other agent also loved to ride motorcycles. “I might swing by sometime. Normally go for rides on the weekend.”
"Anytime you want," Juan repeats, and he hopes Marcus understands how entirely he means it. "It's good to see you again, man."
“Good to see you too.” Marcus means that, smiling at the former agent. “Nice to see that you are okay.”
The two men part with a smile and a nod, and Juan hustles away to get his precious cargo back out to his soulmate. Maybe he'll pitch the idea of inviting Marcus to their next board game night if Sydney and her best friend don't mind the extra company. Not that they ever mind extra company.
Tumblr media
Marcus doesn’t mean for it to be two weeks from the chance encounter with Juan before he steers his bike down the country, winding roads towards this inn that he had been told about. He had a case that required him to travel. Then it was reports and the never ending budget fiascos that new presidencies always bring, his boss wanting a new projections for the fiscal year for some reason.
Now though, he’s enjoying the scenery as the wind blows over his face and he leans into the curve, enjoying the small thrill that races up his spine from the inherent danger.
The winter has been mild so far and all the snow left behind by the storm the area had gotten while he was traveling has melted, making the ride an easy and calming one. He had intentionally driven a long route around Alexandria and the surrounding area, letting him arrive at his destination a little after noon on that cold, sunny Sunday. The inn is a large brick farmhouse, probably originally colonial but it looks like it was redone sometime during the Federalist architecture craze of the early 1800s. Now its clean white painted window frames and front porch are as welcoming as the pristinely kept front garden. The Inn at Jones Point proclaims a sign out front, which is accompanied by a smaller complimentary sign with an impressionist painted black bird that reads Il Corvo in an artistic script. There are cars in the lot with a plethora of states listed on their license plates, another motorcycle that he has to assume is Juan's, and a very government-issued-looking black car parked close to the building.
Marcus is enough of a romantic to fully appreciate the appeal of the property and more importantly, grounded enough to be able to appreciate it without having a partner here to enjoy it with. Since working with his therapist, he's spent a lot of the last three years 'dating himself'. Instead of waiting to make a date to try out a new restaurant, he goes by himself. Not limiting himself to new experiences with partners, he has found that he enjoys the hunt for the perfect spots to eat. The little Indian restaurant he had found is an absolute gem and he is looking forward to discovering a new little brunch spot. If this place is half as good as Juan says, he might make it a monthly habit while he can spend some time with his old friend.
Inside, the lobby of the inn is bustling. Guests sit in plush chairs with travel brochures or excitedly type on their phones. A family is gathered around a display of pamphlets for different travel experiences and tourist attraction. Another guest is hovering around the front desk, seemingly waiting for someone to return.
From the rooms off to the left, wave after wave of stunning smells wafts past Marcus as he looks around. A set of French doors stands open but the hostess stand for Il Corvo stands empty while a small number of diners sit inside, happily chattering over their meals. The scent of fresh coffee permeates everything else just a second before he can see why, as a woman in a blue silk shirt comes around the corner with two travel cups — presumably full of coffee — for the guest standing at the desk.
“Here we are, Mrs. Richards. Thank you for your patience, the pot was just finishing brewing. These will keep you nice and warm while you walk around Old Town.” Smiling as the woman walks away, your eyes survey the room and land on the new arrival with a touch of confusion. “Good afternoon,” you greet, in your typical sunshiny tone. This man isn’t a guest and you genuinely almost thought it was Juan for a second — even though you just saw Juan in the restaurant. “How can I help you today?”
“Hi— uh, I—” Marcus realizes he knows you. Your mother’s picture hangs on his office wall next to the current FBI director’s, and furthermore, it’s hard to not see the darling First Daughter in some news story – although it doesn’t seem like you enjoy the press. “Yeah, sorry, Juan said that brunch is served here?” He asks with an apologetic smile. “I’m Marcus, uh, Pike. We were in the Academy together and I ran into him a few weeks ago.”
You’re prettier than he ever imagined the pictures and news reels, your voice curling into his stomach pleasantly. In true, Marcus Pike fashion. He finds himself instantly intrigued by you.
“Oh, you’re Marcus!” As bright and cheery as you sound, something flips in your stomach and clenches at your chest and you swallow down the oh god he’s really hot impulse that you haven’t felt in…well, in years. This guy looks like someone took Juan and gave him broader shoulders and better hair, and put a little bit more James Dean in his style. “It’s really nice to meet you.” You introduce yourself, probably unnecessarily, but it’s good manners and keeps you from getting nervous or going off track. “Come on this way. Juan said you might be stopping by but he wasn’t sure when.”
“I’m sorry, should I have called first?” He asks, feeling guilty and slightly in the way. The last thing that he wants is to cause an imposition.
“Not at all.” You slip out from behind your desk and wave for him to follow you. “He’s been excited to introduce you to everybody.” The inn is a decent size, with the ground floor being public spaces and all the rooms upstairs being ready-made for guests except for the attic apartment, and you quickly lead the way through the rooms toward the restaurant kitchen.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve caught up.” Marcus admits. “We were close in the academy, most people through we were twins to be honest.” He chuckles slightly.
“I almost thought you were him when I saw you,” you admit, glad to know you aren’t alone in it. Juan had said they look alike but it really is extreme. “Here we are.” Humming as you push open the door to the restaurant’s bar, you huff a soft laugh when a woman slightly taller than you with masses of curls in a tight bun at the nape of her neck in a black suit sidesteps the pair of you and opens the kitchen door to look inside before letting you in. “Thank you, Agent Bailey.” As odd as it is to have constant supervision like this, you’re doing your best to be patient and understanding with it. “Come on into the kitchen,” you offer to Marcus. “Brunch is almost over and this is where Juan sits when he hangs out.”
“Really? The inner sanctum already?” The tone is joking, but Marcus knows that for a lot of chefs, the kitchen is their sacred place. He wouldn’t know, because his kitchen is used to make coffee, but he’s had a few relationships with amateur gourmet cooks.
“Marcus!” There’s no question that this is where he’s supposed to be, when Juan is waving from a corner of the kitchen and immediately zips over to say hello. “How are you, man? Good to see you!”
“Hey.” He grins when he sees the other man, obviously happier here than any time in the Bureau and he’s happy for him. He seems like a completely different man, just from the quick glance. Perhaps it’s the fact that he found his soulmate. “Sorry it’s been a few weeks. Got caught up on a case.”
“I completely get it,” he assures his friend. “It’s been kind of crazy around here anyway. Weddings booked every single weekend and the restaurant stuffed full with reservations.” He beams, proud as a peacock, and waves slightly as you disappear back out through the bar to return to your counter. The inn is full up with last night’s wedding party and you have your hands full. “I want you to meet my wife,” Juan says, clapping Marcus in the shoulder and pulling him further into the kitchen.
There are only two people cooking right now and they are both winding down. Enough that the petite woman with tied-up hair and a look of intense concentration on her face can look up and smile. “I hear you talking about me,” she warns with a laugh.
“Syd, this is Marcus Pike.” Juan introduces, bringing his friend out in front of him. “Marcus, this is Sydney. The gorgeous goddess the universe decided to grace me with.”
“Nice to meet you.” Again that pesky pang of longing lurches inside Marcus but he throws her a smile and takes her hand after she offers it immediately. “I’ve only heard angelic things about you, so rest assured, he’s not talking ill.”
“He’s does nothing but tell stories about you since you guys ran into each other at Eastern Market.” Sydney tells him honestly. “Can I make you something to eat?”
“I was hoping to experience the brunch option that Juan was bragging about.” Marcus admits as he glances around, admiring the state of the art kitchen. “Didn’t expect to see this from the historical facade.” He admits. “It’s charming though.” He adds, hoping that neither one of you take offense.
"Charming is her specialty." Sydney points her thumb in the direction of the door, indicating the main lobby of the inn. "We took over running this place about three years ago now. The previous owners weren't able to keep up anymore so they sold to her and we updated the restaurant. Modern Italian dinners and brunch for the inn's guests. It's a big step up from the B&B that this place used to be." Grinning proudly, Sydney moves over to the nearest counter and plops a paper menu down at the stool beside her husband. "What would you like?"
Marcus looks at the menu and lifts a brow, impressed by the sophisticated menu. This isn’t some little spaghetti shop that pretends to be Italian. “It’s been so long since I’ve had good Uova in Purgatorio.” He moans. “Since the last time I was in Naples.” He clicks his tongue. “But I want to try the ricotta pancakes too.”
"Then you will get both," Sydney insists, clicking her tongue and getting to work. "A G-man in Naples, huh?" She barely glances up from her work as she moves. "Art crimes must be the fancy branch of the Bureau."
“I work on international cases with Interpol and Scotland Yard.” He explains as he sits down and admires the fluidity of her movements in the kitchen. She’s completely at home in her space and it’s evident she’s in command. He’s slightly envious of her comfort in a kitchen, if he’s honest.
"Oh, so it definitely is the fancy branch." She laughs. Juan hops up from his seat to grab coffee for himself and Marcus, brushing a kiss on her cheek as he moves past, and the other woman who had been cooking moves away to the other end of the room to work on cleaning up from the brunch rush.
"Fancy branch of what?" The kitchen door swings open again and you come strolling back inside looking infinitely more tired than you had just a few minutes ago but still in a generally good mood. "The wedding party is finally gone. I am officially taking my break."
Marcus stares at you for a moment and then looks down at his hands, feeling like he might be bragging if he were to tell you what they’ve been talking about. There’s something about you that is knocking him off kilter, he’s normally a little more confident than this.
"Art crimes is swanky, apparently." Sydney tells you, never stopping or slowing as she moves around like a controlled whirlwind. "Eggs in purgatory and ricotta pancakes for your brunch? I'll make up a big batch." They're two of your favourite things anyway and it's easy enough to just make a double serving of each when she knows that your break time is always mealtime.
"That sounds incredible," you moan in agreement, making a beeline for the industrial refrigerator in the corner of the room to make yourself an iced latte that is far more espresso than milk. A generous swirl of flavored syrup joins your cup before you plop down on the edge of the counter and sip your drink with a happy sigh. Normally people exclaim over you when they realize they recognize you but Marcus Pike hasn't said a word — and you wonder if he doesn't recognize you from the papers or if you even care. It's nice to not have someone make a fuss for once. To just be nice and not suck up to you for being the President's oldest child.
“Weddings take it out of you, huh?” Marcus asks, smirking a little at the drink in your hand, although it looks delicious. “Or were they just demanding?”
"It was a big party. Very specific needs." Sipping your drink and finally sitting is immediately relaxing, and you're always ready to meet new people. Especially when they're someone that your best friend's husband speaks of so highly. "Nothing I can't handle, but weddings are always tricky. It's the most important day of at least one person's life, so you always want to try to make it as perfect for them as you can. Thankfully," you gesture around you. "I have an incredible team. Syd is the best Italian chef in the Chesapeake Bay and Juanito is an incredible event coordinator."
Marcus snorts and cuts his eyes over at Badillo. “He always did have an eye for details.” He admits, snickering at the nickname you’ve bestowed on the former federal agent. “Although it’s surprising that it’s manifested in wedding planning.” He teases playfully.
"Event planning," Juan clarifies, but he's grinning regardless. "We host a lot here. Weddings, anniversaries, holiday parties, all kinds of personal events. I get to put my organizational mind to work on it. It's actually pretty rewarding."
"Don't let him sell himself short. Juan plans a hell of a wedding." There is pride on your face, pride for your friend and in your work "We've gotten written up in a bunch of bridal magazines and on websites the last few years."
“Good job, Juanito.” If there’s anything that Marcus enjoyed more than the courses in the academy, it was busting his friend’s balls. All in good fun of course, he had taken his share of ribbing as well. It was par for the course. “That sounds like a hell of a job, making people happy and sharing in their special moments.”
"We do our best." Juan will never take the credit for himself, always attributing the effort to the team as a whole. This time, though, he flashes a knowing grin at you. "Although the next one we plan might be a hell of a lot bigger than what we do here."
“Oh?” Marcus asks, turning towards you. “Are you getting married soon?” His eyes drop discreetly to your hand and he tries to remember what he’s read about you but for some reason, he’s drawing a blank.
“No, Juan just likes to tease.” You shake it off with a roll of your eyes, knowing that — unfortunately — your friend is completely right. If or when it does happen, it will be a damn circus. “It’s this…guy that I met last year, and it’s been really good and he really took all the stress of the last year in stride, and these two love to tease.” In truth, you’ve been intentionally moving forward slowly with the junior Congressman from Maryland that you met at a campaign event you attended with your mother last year. Sam is a good guy and has big ideas for the future. It’s just that you normally dive into relationships so fast and so deep that your heart does all the talking before your mind can catch up. And now that you’re a public figure, you can’t afford to have that happen again. “I’m perfectly content to watch other people have their big days for now.”
“I can imagine that it’s hard to have a relationship right now.” He sympathizes. “The press either treats you like a darling celebrity or some kind of public spectacle, right?” He asks, curious as to your view on the entire thing. Personally, he hated the idea of politics taking on a celebrity flare and you aren’t on politics, your mother is.
“I’m honestly lucky that my younger siblings take some of the focus,” you admit. So he did recognize you. It’s nice that he didn’t fuss. You’re grateful for that. “My brother is in law school and my sister is in undergrad and they’re both living in the White House while they study but…yeah. We all agreed to give up our privacy for a while so Mom can do some good work. That means relationships aren’t easy right now.”
“It’s good you had a choice.” Marcus admits. “Sometimes I watch the campaigns for some of the politicians and it’s obvious the family would rather be anywhere else and are putting on a facade.” He shrugs, not wanting to delve too deep into a subject you probably are uncomfortable with. “Nice that you don’t have too much interference here, except for the Secret Service agent.”
"Agent Bailey's okay." In fact, she's sitting outside the kitchen door right now, giving you a bit of space and privacy to try to pretend you still have a halfway normal life. "We're still getting used to each other. I had somebody else during the campaign, but she's been assigned to my sister now. It all works out in the end." Smiling, you take another sip of your coffee and wonder why your stomach is fluttering over this very kind man who has been introduced into your lives very much by chance. It's...unsettling. To say the very least. "But that's plenty about me. How about you, Special Agent Marcus Pike? Where're you from? How are you liking Art Crimes?" You grin, throwing him a mischievous expression. "Who'd you vote for, for president?"
Marcus laughs, a real laugh that comes from his belly and he relaxes. “Let’s see…I’m from the great state of Texas - Go Rangers.” He ticks off. “I love Art Crimes, especially when we can recover sentimental pieces and keep “collectors”,” he uses air quotes, “from locking away art from being enjoyed by all.” He grins at your last question. “And my momma told me never to discuss politics or religion in social settings….but….my candidate is currently hanging on my office wall.”
"Rangers, huh?" Glossing over the not insignificant tidbit that he did, in fact, vote for your mother, you find yourself thoroughly enjoying getting to know this friend of your friend. It's usually not this easy to click with a new acquaintance, although you've become an expert at seeming interested just to be polite. That doesn't seem to be necessary at all with this man. "When we get our Phillies/Rangers series this year we'll have to come up with a bet of some kind."
“It’s gonna be a losing bet on your end.” Marcus predicts. “We’ve got Darío Álvarez and then Elvis Andrus is going to continue stealing bases.”
"Oh thank god," Sydney huffs, flipping ricotta pancakes on her griddle top and grinning as she throws you a wink. "She's finally got someone else to drag to baseball games. I'm free!"
"My alleged best friend," you smirk and decide to tease her back. "And her husband are both hockey people. So I'm generally either stuck watching the game on my own or dragging Syd along with promises of beer and ballpark dogs."
“Nationals aren’t my favorite team. Since they are National League.” Marcus smirks. “But I have season tickets since it’s too expensive to fly back to Texas for every game.”
It would be bragging to admit that you've been asked to throw the first ball out at the Nationals opening game this season as the most vocally baseball-loving member of the new First Family, so you just smile. You know it can feel like a big sacrifice to leave something about home behind. "Maybe I'll see you there," you offer instead. "The Nationals aren't my team either, but the game are pretty fun."
“Oh they always are.” He admits wholeheartedly. “Plus the Navy Yard is close so it’s always interesting.”
"Heeeeere we go." Onto the counter in front of you, Sydney heaps four plates of food – making each of you identical breakfasts. "The fruit compote for the pancakes right now is cranberry lemon. And I threw a little extra chili into the sauce for the eggs." She grins. "Some folks who stay at the inn say it's too spicy but it's how we like it," she tells Marcus.
Marcus chuckles and Juan snorts, hooking his fingers towards the agent. “This man ate his way through a five alarm chili contest and didn’t even touch his beer.” He boasts to the two of you. “If it’s not spicy, I don’t want it.” Marcus confirms with a grin. “Thank you. It smells amazing.”
"Then next time you're getting Calabrian chili instead of just the wimpy flakes." Sydney promises with glee. "That's how our girl likes it, but that's too much even for me most of the time. I have to be in the mood for it."
“You like spicy?” He asks, smirking towards you. “How do you feel about the Indian food around here?”
"There's a place in DuPont Circle that is probably the best Indian food I've ever had in my entire life." Even as you're getting ready to dig into your best friend's comfort Italian fare, your mouth starts watering thinking of curries and dal. "The kind of place where they don't make it really spicy until you've been there a couple of times and they know you can handle it. I swear I've eaten there more than I've cooked my own food since moving out here."
“Rasika’s?” Marcus groans, nodding. “I love that place. They make the best curry I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m sweating, but I never tell them to bring me the yogurt sauce.”
"If you don't sweat while you're eating there, you're doing it wrong." It's a slight point of contention with Sam, who generally considers mustard to be too spicy most of the time, but you ignore the side eye you're getting from Sydney and dig in to your brunch. Having come in early today, this is halfway through your shift and you're going to be excited to head upstairs to your little attic caretaker's apartment when the time comes this afternoon. "Mmmmm," you groan happily and do a little wiggle in your seat unconsciously. "Syd, I swear. If you hadn't already married Juan, I'd marry you for your brunch."
Marcus takes that as the best kind of advertisement and cuts into his own meal to fork up a bite of the eggs. “Christ.” He groans as soon as the flavors hit his mouth. “That’s amazing.”
"I told you," Juan boasts, sitting up in his seat a little taller with pride for his soulmate. "She's amazing."
“You weren’t kidding.” Marcus huffs, taking another bite. “If this got out, you could run on brunch alone.”
"We're considering offering an incentive package for events." Starting to clean up, Syd watches the two of you eat while she wraps the kitchen up from brunch to get everything prepared for dinner service. "Wedding brunches are coming back in fashion, but a lot of people are wanting to do morning after brunches for their families before everyone goes their separate ways."
“I can see that.” Marcus nods. “Lara and I had a lunch thing before we all said goodbye, but that was casual.”
"Your wife?" You guess, struggling to remember if Juan had mentioned that his friend was married. He's not wearing a ring, but some men don't — a habit that generally rubs you the wrong way because those men are always the ones who basically want their wives to walk around wearing a giant 'I'm married' sign but will never show any outward signs of commitment themselves.
Marcus gives a small shrug and smiles self-consciously. “Ex-wife.” He admits, knowing that soon enough the pitying looks will start. “We divorced a while ago.”
Sydney clicks her tongue, having remembered that fact, and says nothing more. You, though? For some reason you can't help yourself. Something about Marcus Pike compels you to offer comfort in whatever way you can. "If you ever find another Mrs. Pike, you let us know. We've got you covered."
Marcus chuckles. “So far, that search has been in vain.” He admits. “Apparently it’s not in the cards for me.”
"She's out there." Juan offers with confidence. "If I remember correctly, you've even got a couple of tattoos to prove it."
Marcus rolls his eyes. “Yeah, I do.” He snorts. “If I ever find her, I want to know why there is a hummingbird tramp stamp on my lower back.” He laughs. “I get why, but why???? Why a hummingbird?”
A glare of questioning moves soundlessly between you and your best friend — the perpetually meddling woman who sat next to you when you were eighteen and challenged you to answer trivia questions while you had your own hummingbird tramp stamp inked onto your skin in celebration of your high school graduation. "Oh yeah?" She asks, raising an eyebrow at you while you furious try to communicate with nothing more than wide eyes that you do not want her to ask what she's about to ask. "What kind of hummingbird? How trashy are we talking?"
“It’s not exactly trashy.” Marcus defends. “It’s actually a pretty blue and green.“
"Interesting." Sydney hums, practically giggling with glee as she cleans up the kitchen and you bury your face in your meal like it will help you escape the entire conversation. "Maybe hummingbirds are her favourite bird?"
I'm going to kill you in your sleep says the glare you send your best friend's way.
“Totally trashed my punk rock image.” He laughs. “Although I didn’t think of that at the time. Thinking I’m this hardcore next Kurt Cobain rocker and I’ve got a hummingbird tattoo on my lower back.” He snorts, shrugging slightly. “But it’s always been a question I’ve wanted to ask. What made her choose that? What’s special about it to her?”
"Hummingbirds symbolize love and devotion," you murmur next to him, not quite looking up and wondering if the world is really turning on its ear right now or if it's just that you've been thrown off kilter by the possibilities. It's not like you're the only girl in the world with a hummingbird tattoo, after all. Far from it. "And they're supposed to be good luck."
“I like that.” Marcus hums softly. “It’s wistful, hopeful.” There could be a thousand different reasons why his soulmate chose that symbol to etch on her body and in turn, his, but he would rather it be a loving sign. You aren’t looking at him, and miss the small smile he throws you. “Poetic.”
"So she's gotta be out there somewhere." Sydney needles the point a little bit, sounding breezy as hell but just about ready to pounce on any clues Marcus offers up. "Maybe a hopeless romantic with a stubborn streak and an encyclopedic knowledge of Lost Generation authors and impressionist painters?" She shrugs like she's just pulled the example out of thin air. "Who knows?"
Throwing Juan a look, Marcus smirks. “Sounds like your husband has been talking about favorite kind of woman.” He jokes, although he’s pretty sure that he would love it if his soulmate turned out to be just that. “I just want to have someone that wants to be build a lift together. A partner.” He shrugs. “Most people think that it’s crazy, but I think that your significant other should be your best friend and your lover.”
"Absolutely crazy." With as clearly sarcastic a tone as she can possibly muster, Sydney practically deadpans in Marcus's direction. "So weird. How dare you want to spend your life with someone you loves you as much as you love them?" Every single thing she's described has been about you, and while neither of the guys are picking up on that for even a single second, the fact that you have your head down over your plate means you're reading her loud and clear. "I bet your dream girl will even have a thing for your old rockstar days," she goes on, as if she's stringing out a hypothetical and not explicitly describing your opinion that musicians are sexy as hell. "Don't tell me. You were a bassist, right?"
“And vocals.” He admits, shaking his head ruefully. “It’s alright if she doesn’t like that. God, it’s been years since I’ve picked up my bass.” He realizes. “I should do that. Between the bass or the motorcycle, I just spent more time on the bike.”
Bass. Vocals. And motorcycle? You practically groan out loud but barely manage to swallow the sound and instead hop up from your seat immediately to hopefully combine the noise you just made with all manner of other commotion. "Just grabbing another drink," you explain, when all three of their heads turn toward you at once. "You, uh...you should do what makes you happy, Marcus. If that's not overstepping things for me to say. We just met today. But I've always heard that the best things in life tend to fall into your lap when you're not looking for them. So maybe just...enjoy yourself? And who knows what can happen."
“That’s what I’ve been trying to do.” Marcus admits. “My therapist agrees with you. That we need to enjoy ourselves and not just search.”
"Our therapists agree with each other, then," you admit with a chuckle. "I started seeing someone when Mom decided to run for president. I figured it would be good to have someone to check in with and make sure I was handling my stressors in a healthy way." The conversations you had had with them about whether or not to factor your soulmate into future plans when you had never met them were slightly less straightforward.
“That’s always a good thing.” He nods quickly. “I’ve never been one to think that therapists are a waste of time.” He shrugs. “My mom was a therapist all my childhood.”
"It's an incredibly important profession. And an incredibly important resource to have." Seeing as Marcus's mug was empty as well, you bring back two glasses of water to the counter and sit down again, hoping that Sydney won't keep pushing. Or at least that she won't reveal things if she does. "My little sister is a psychology major. She's thinking about medical school next, and talking about different paths she might taken with her studies. Therapist being one of them."
“It’s a good profession.” Marcus admits easily. “Just- let her know, most therapists have their own therapists they see. It’s draining to take on everyone’s secrets and burdens, trying to do the best you can to give them the tools to help themselves. So tell her that there’s no shame in that.”
"I will." It isn't worth negating the kindness of Marcus's thoughts and advice by telling him that all three of the First Kids started therapy at the start of the campaign. It's the care he has for other people — people he has never met and may never meet ever in his life, that touches you so very deeply. "Thank you, Marcus. That's very kind of you."
He nods and picks up the glass of water, needing to wash down the remnants of the eggs before starting on the pancakes. “So, Juan, how did you and your lovely wife discover you were soulmates?” He asks curiously.
"Uhm..." Juan chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck and looking to Sydney for her permission to tell the story.
"Go ahead," she laughs. "I've go to start dinner prep. Tell him as much as you want."
"It's not exactly PG," he admits, still laughing softly to himself. "The polite version is that we compared tattoos."
Marcus isn’t the head of his department because he’s dimwitted. “One night stand?” He asks, lifting his brows in surprise. It wasn’t like he had never had them himself, but both men had preferred to be in relationships rather than sleep around. Not that he’s judging.
“I was willing to take whatever that goddess was willing to give me,” Juan admits without shame. “One night would have been a memory to cherish. But the universe said it should be a lifetime, instead.”
“I’m happy for you.” Marcus promises with a slap on the back for his old friend. “You deserve it. Glad you found her.”
“You say that now.” His friend smiles happily though, beaming at the commendation. “But now it’s going to be my mission to find you that girl with the hummingbird tattoo.”
Marcus smiles, a little sadly, but he just shrugs. “I’ll find her when I’m supposed to.” He reasons. “Knowing my luck, she’s happily married.”
“Not as happily as she would be with you.” He’s confident in that, and Juan looks to you to bolster his encouragements. “How could anybody not be ecstatic to have a guy this good, right?”
It feels rude. Like a trick from the universe that you do not like one bit. Like the powers that be are rubbing your nose in your defiance of their plans. “They’d have to be blind.” You offer, with a smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes. Sam is a good guy. He’s been a good boyfriend and has made you happy. Why are you suddenly thinking about someone else after an hour of knowing them? That’s utterly ridiculous. “You…never really know how the universe is going to have things work out.”
She’s just being polite. Marcus realizes that when he sees your smile, his stomach churning unhappily. It doesn’t matter, you’re seeing someone. A woman in a relationship has always been off limits to him. He doesn’t like, nor respect cheaters and yet he’s upset that you don’t seem that attracted to him. Or, you’re reluctantly attracted to him. He stares down at his pancakes and sighs. “All that matters to me if that my soulmate is happy.” He decides.
Juan and Marcus talk about this and that for the next few minutes, but you quickly finish your pancakes and excuse yourself. It was very nice to meet Marcus, and you tell him so, but you’re a little rattled by the possibility that was just laid out in front of you and you need a few deep breaths of fresh air before your break is over and you have to go back to solving guest’s dilemmas.
Juan doesn’t miss the way Marcus’s eyes follow you out of the room and he smirks. “Thinkin’ about it?” He asks, knowing you are the other man’s type.
“No.” He shakes his head quickly. “I mean, I would if she were single, but she’s not.” Deciding to change the subject, he leans in. “Did they heighten security here, or just the one agent?”
“Updated cameras and increased security personnel. We turned the spare office into a surveillance room but her Secret Service detail doesn’t butt in on anything they don’t need to.” Juan shrugs, knowing that things always change over time. “So far.”
That’s good and Marcus nods. “Sounds like you might have had some input.” He knows that Juan is very analytical, he would know what the weakness were in a place like this.
Juan snorts, taking a sip of his drink and shrugging vaguely. "My wife's childhood best friend is the First Daughter of the United States. If I can help her be safe, I'm going to."
“I can certainly understand that.” Marcus admits.
"It's a good system." Juan acknowledges. "She always has a detail agent nearby and the place needs the security because we've gotten a hell of a lot busier since the campaign last year."
“I’m sure.” Marcus snorts. “Everyone wants to claim they have some insider pull.” He says, a little cynical, but he looks around. “And I’m sure a lot of it is the fact that this place is a little gem.”
"272-year-old farmhouse with restored gardens and a barn and a gazebo from 1823. The place has had so many owners and been used for so many things." It's clear that Juan has nothing but affection for the place, and that he really has leaned into a fully civilian life. "I'm glad you came out to say hi," he tells Marcus honestly. "Hopefully we'll see more of you around here."
“With food like this?” Marcus groans, throwing his buddy a grin. “Those are the best damn pancakes that I’ve eaten in forever.”
"And considering you're a certified pancake expert, that says something." Juan chuckles. When Marcus hadn't shown up for a few weeks he was afraid that maybe he had said something wrong or that his old friend had moved on from the comradery they used to have, Apparently, neither was the case.
“Still love pancakes. It’s finding the time to eat them, that’s the problem.” He snorts. “It’s getting better now that I run the department, but after I ran into you? I was flying out two days later.”
"Sounds like you earned a day to relax." Sounds like he earned a lot more than just one day, but Juan knows how the Bureau works. A single day can sometimes be a miracle to come by. "There's books and board games in the library if you want to stay and spend some time relaxing."
“What do you have going on?” Marcus asks, tilting his head curiously.
“It’s…board game night.” As silly and domestic as it sounds, it’s a nice tradition that they’ve managed to keep going among friends. “Every month we have a group of friends over and we do a potluck for dinner. Just to unwind and be social. Just catch up, eat some good food, and play board games. You’re more than welcome to join us.”
“I don’t want to impose.” Marcus shakes his head, wondering if he’s so desperate that it sounds like great evening or if it just really was.
“It’s not imposing,” Juan assured him. “We bring new friends all the time. There’s about six of us usually, so it fluctuates depending on how many other people we bring or if someone can’t make it.”
“Well, is there a store or something?” He asks. “I can pick up some wine or something to contribute.”
“Old Town has some good liquor stores.” The historic district of Alexandria has become increasingly popular in the last several years, and the revitalization of the neighborhood has helped the inn as well.
“Anything else you could possibly want?” Marcus asks seriously. He’s willing to go get anything that could be thought of, the prospect of not spending the night alone incredibly cheering.
“Get whatever you want,” Juan encourages. “Every once in a while someone will show up with something they’ve never tried just try to it together. So really — anything you want.”
“Okay.” Marcus grins, excited about this and reaches out to slap Juan on the back. “Do you still ride bikes or have you given that up?”
"Hell no." Juan tuts, glad to see the smile back on Marcus's face. "My Indian is back at our house. We take rides when we've got time off together."
“That’s good. Although the rides have taken a pause since the pregnancy, right?” Marcus asks. “I can’t imagine a doctor signing off on a pregnant woman on the back of a bike.”
“Yeah…these days we take rides in the station wagon.” He chuckles at that, and Juan knows how ridiculously domestic it sounds but he really doesn’t care. He’s in love with his life in a very unexpected way, and that’s okay. “It’ll be nice to have someone to ride with again.”
“I can imagine.” Marcus is missing that, but on the bright side, he rides when and where he wants. “Do you guys know what you’re having yet?” He asks.
“Not yet.” Juan is excited, though, as evidenced by the way he lights up when asked about it. “It’s still too early to find out. Obviously we don’t care, as long as they’re healthy and happy.”
“Congrats, man, you’re living the dream, you know that?” As envious as he can admit to being, he’s also incredibly happy for Juan. “You deserve it. Especially after, you know…”
“Life is totally different now.” Leaving the Bureau is what was best for Juan. He knows that now, even if it was a painful decision to make back then. “I’m not going to ever downplay the things in my past, but the future is looking pretty fucking good, man.”
Completely understanding the fact that Juan doesn’t want to talk, he nods. “I’m happy for you. Truly.”
“I appreciate that, man.” Juan grins and pats Marcus on the shoulder. “Enjoy some time in town and come on back here around seven tonight. Syd isn’t working the dinner rush tonight so we’ll all be able to relax.”
“That sounds good.” The comfortable jeans and a sweater will still look sharp enough for game night and he sends his friend a smile before he walks out of the kitchen.

Things have calmed down in the lobby when you return to the front desk to pick up a few papers and check in on your concierge before retreating into your office for the rest of your shift. The inn may have calmed down but you're still spinning wildly on the idea that your soulmate might have walked through the door of the inn this morning with absolutely no fanfare and a nervous smile on his incredibly handsome face.
Nope. Stop it. Sam is coming for board game night tonight and you really fucking like him. Don't give up your whole stance on freedom of happiness just because some absolutely dishy FBI agent has your tattoo.
"Everything going okay, Malachi?" You will be professional, and not a blithering mass of nervous energy. Even if it takes all the energy you have to force it.
“Everything’s fantastic, we had another couple call to book a room for next weekend. So we officially will have no vacancies.” He reports proudly, like he had recruited the couple himself.
"Good. That's actually excellent. That means we have no vacancies at any point for two week on either side of Valentine's Day unless someone cancels." It's always possible. After all, break up happen around that particular holiday. But with the way they've been booking rooms lately, they should be able to fill a hole more easily than not. "I'm going to go to my office and work on the schedule. If you need me, just call."
“Of course.” Malachi cranes his neck as that handsome guy walks out to a beautiful motorcycle. “But before you go.” He hums. “Who is that?”
You can't help but chuckle, your concierge's obvious interest making you recognize the ridiculousness of the whole situation all over again. "That's Juan's friend," you tell him, gathering up your paperwork. "He'll be around more, and he's allowed into the kitchen. So you know he's special."
“And does Juan’s friend have a name?” He asks, smirking slightly.
"Special Agent Marcus Pike." You smirk right back at him, giving Marcus's title along with his name. By now Agent Bailey has probably done an entire workup on the agent. Why wouldn't she?
“Special Agent.” Because it’s the two of you and there’s no guest around, Malachi watches out the window with unabashed interest. “He can mount me like he mounts that bike any time.”
"Mal!" There's no reason for you to be taken aback by that comment considering how well you know Malachi Debose, but you still find yourself stifling a laugh with wide eyes. You tell yourself to joke, ignoring the twist in your chest at the idea of Marcus with anyone else. It's not up to you. He's his own person. And he might not even be your soulmate to begin with! "I'm pretty sure he's straight, honey, but you never know. It would not be the first guy you've swept out of the closet who didn't even realize they were in there in the first place."
He sighs dramatically, even though he’s smirking proudly. “You’re right.” He admits. “We’ll see how mister Special Agent Marcus Pike acts and then I’ll decide.”
"Behave yourself." Is the playful warning you give him before turning and nodding to Agent Bailey. "Time to sit in the office while I swear at my computer," you tell her. As the Secret Service agent who is with you most of the time, Kendra Bailey has learned your past, your friends, your job, and your habits like a book. She appreciates that you're not throwing yourself into politics because it means her days are a little calmer than they could be, but the coming and going of all sorts of people through the inn on a daily basis presents its own challenges.
She nods, already curious about the FBI agent that she’s encountered here. It’s not unusual to run background checks on people who continuously hang around the inn, and it sounds like he will become a fixture for the foreseeable future. “Of course, Hummingbird.”
You groan softly, realizing that that is going to get said around Marcus Pike at some point or other, and just try to shake it off for now. "You can call me by my name around here, you know." She won't. You've had this conversation more than once, but sometimes you think you'll never get used to being ma'am or Hummingbird at all times to your Secret Service detail.
“Yes ma’am.” She nods, both of you aware that she’s not going to break protocol like that. Instead, she’s turning to the chair that has been placed outside your office, tucked into a discreet corner so it’s not completely obvious that you are being guarded. Giving you the illusion of privacy.
"Someday I'm going to get you to at least come into the office." There are rules. A hell of a lot of them, in fact, and you know that they exist for a reason. But Agent Bailey is allowed to be in your office with you, and you hope it won't take your mother's entire first term in office for her to get comfortable enough with you to do that.
“I understand that, but if I’m in your office, you won’t concentrate.” She reminds you with a small, unseen smile. The first time you had insisted, you hadn’t gotten anything done.
"Too social for my own good, I guess." With a small smile exchanged between the two of you, you nod in agreement before heading down the hall to your office. She's right, and you both know it.
Outside, a snazzy sports car pulls up. Not too flashy, because a junior congressman from Maryland can’t be seen throwing money away frivolously, but sporty enough to make him grin as he changes gears. The door pops open, sunglasses tossed on the dash and Sam hustles out of his car, eager to see you.
"Hey Sam." Malachi looks up from the desk when the door opens and offers up a smile. Professional, but friendly. So far, Congressman Chase hasn't done anything to warrant the cold shoulder. "Is she expecting you?"
“Not until later, but I was hoping to surprise her.” He admits, sending the concierge a wink. “She in her office?”
"Just went in to work on the schedule." Malachi reports, but his smile morphs from professional to earnest in half a second. "The new software is giving her a headache and a half. I bet coming in with a cup of coffee with also be a welcome surprise."
“You are a good man, Malachi.” Sam slaps the antique reception stand and grins. “Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” He lifts his brows and points at him as he changes directions to the kitchen to beg a cup of coffee from Sydney.
A knock on the kitchen door is odd but not unheard of, and Sydney glances back over her shoulder when the swinging door pushes open to admit the six-foot Congressman she now affectionately calls, "Sam Sam! As happy as I am to see you, your lady friend is not in the kitchen."
“I know.” Sam tosses the chef an easy grin. “A little birdie told me that she might appreciate a cup of coffee, so I’m here to be her runner.”
Sydney smirks, never ceasing in her work but nodding to the coffee pot in the corner of the kitchen. “Go right ahead. I’m sure she’ll be grateful.”
“Thank you.” He immediately beelines for the coffee maker, intent on also making himself a cup. Though he would prefer a cocktail. “It smells great in here, like always.” He tosses over his shoulder.
“Flattery will get you everywhere.” She hums happily in return. “I made a lasagna for game night. Are you staying?”
“Unless an emergency session is call.” Sam snorts. “And you know half those crusty old bastards don’t want to work.” He adds some creamer and sweetener to his, doctors yours and turns back. “Is this the lasagna with the pancetta?” He asks, giving her a pleading look.
“It is, and I did a little something different with the ricotta layer this time, so you’ll have to tell me what you think.” One hand shoos him playfully away, but she does laugh. “I’ll feed you later. Go see your lady.”
“Thank you!” He laughs as well, zipping out the door to head in to see you. Hopefully you aren’t working on anything too important that you can’t steal away some time for him.
Two short knocks on your door could be anyone, but you save your progress in working on next week’s schedule and call for them to come in. It’s probably Malachi with a guest accommodation question, which is no problem. You can hit pause on scheduling the housekeeping staff around their various class schedules to answer just about anything.
After getting the okay to enter, Sam juggles the cups and pokes his head in the door. “Can you spare a few minutes, beautiful?” He asks.
The grin that spreads on your face is surprise and relief, and you hop up from your dream to open the door fully. “If that’s coffee in your hands, I can spare more than just a few.”
“Of course it is, fixed just the way you like it.” While he doesn’t drink it nearly as sweet as you do, he also doesn’t make fun of you for it.
“To what do I owe the early visit?” The door clicks shut behind him and you sit back in your chair with a happy sigh.
“We let out early.” Sam explains. “Figured we could spend some time together .”
“I’m always glad to see you.” It’s true. It genuinely is. Which is why you hate the nagging guilt of the fact that you had just been telling yourself to stop speculating about your possible soulmate and focus on work.
“That’s a good thing.” Despite the idea that dating the First Daughter was good for his career, Sam genuinely cares for you. It might not be the passionate love he had imagined years ago, but he’s mature enough to understand that a solid connection was a good thing.
“So your meeting went alright?” The committee that he’s on had an unofficial lunch meeting today, which must have gone well if he’s already here saying hello. “I was afraid they’d have you all day and you’d miss out in lasagna and the new Clue game that Sydney’s sister picked up.”
“No.” Sam snorts. “They wanted it done as quickly as possible.” He tells you. “I’ve got to admit that I’ve never seen people that hate to work more than politicians.”
“Well that’s hardly encouraging,” you snort, and shake your head before taking a sip of hot coffee. “I guess you’ll just have to whip them into shape, Congressman. No two ways about it.”
“I’m trying.” He laughs and shrugs. “Right now I equate it to herding cats.” He jokes, sitting down on the other side of your desk and watching you for a moment while you savor your coffee.
“That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever called a member of the House of Representatives.” The two of you share a laugh, and you shift in your seat a little with an awkward expression before talking again. “I…got an email this morning. From Mom’s office. Informing me of my first few expected photo ops as First Daughter.” It’s a big part of the job, for you at least, to look the part and play the part and help the country to see your mother as not just the president, but a family-oriented professional as well. Being the first female President has its challenges and your mother is plowing into them head on. Which, honestly? You give her a lot of credit for. “They asked if I would be willing to release some social media photos from our Valentine’s date…” The fact that you hadn’t planned one yet is slightly beyond the point. Now you pretty much have to.
“Well, what kind of pictures would you like?” Sam asks easily, aware that you don’t relish the attention, but it’s part of the job. “We can do a dinner at home, appeal to the base of Americans.” He suggests.
“I don’t love the idea of someone recognizing an aspect of your house or neighborhood and you getting doxed for it,” you admit ruefully. It would have to be Sam’s house, since you don’t actually have one. You can’t exactly put out photos of your attic apartment and expect the White House press core not to make noises. “I was thinking we could put the spotlight on a minority-owned small business or go to some low-key arts event? If they’re going to ask me to be in the spotlight then I want to use it for good.”
“Do you want to decide?” He asks, aware that you can be quite choosy at times. He doesn’t really mind. “Or do you want me to come up with something?”
“It’s probably easier if I figure it out.” You admit. It’s not your favorite option, all things considered, but since it’s dumb for you to be even vaguely upset that your boyfriend didn’t announce he had secret plans already in the works — which your stupid romantic comedy loving brain had hoped for but knew was a longshot — it’s better to just be practical. “So the Secret Service can tell me if wherever I pick is insecure or something like that. Even though I can’t imagine that anybody is out to get me. That’s absurd.”
“You’d be surprised what humans are capable of.” Sam reminds you, having read some of the most horrific reports imaginable. He likes that you are practical, even if you are a bit naive.
“Not a super fun thing to hear from your boyfriend, but okay.” It’s nothing you can’t brush off, and you do so with a wave of your hand. “There is also a state dinner coming up in a few weeks that I definitely do not want to go to without you.”
“I’m available.” He promises. “I’ve got a couple of events in my district coming up. But I’ll mark that on my calendar.”
“Thank you.” Though you aren’t blind to the ways that attending these things helps him, you appreciate the company. You aren’t effortlessly charismatic like your brother or a star student with enigmatic insights like your sister. You’re the least comfortable in the public eye out of your whole family, and that is what it is. At some point in the night when he inevitably veers off to shake hands and schmooze politically, you’ll sit quietly at your table and smile politely while you wait for Sam to come back, and that’s okay. “I really really appreciate it.”
Sam huffs, sending you a small smirk. “A night where you are wearing a beautiful dress, we eat an elegant dinner, what’s not to love?” He leaves the part about making connections unspoken, both of you know how this game is worked. “And maybe you can come spend the night at my place after.”
"What an absolutely scandalous suggestion." One hand clutches your nonexistent pearls, pretending to be aghast, but you throw him a wink. Intimacy in your relationship unfortunately does have to be scheduled at a certain point...just on the basis that you have a Secret Service agent you can't simply ditch, and he has a personal assistant that might be even more invasive than the Secret Service. "I love it."
“Good.” Sam smirks back at you and sends you his own wink. “I’ve missed a cute little snore, and I need to get some cuddling in.”
"I do not snore." Despite pouting at him – and knowing that you do, in fact, snore – you end up grinning. "But we have been low on cuddle time lately, I agree."
“Yeah, I know my job is hectic and yours isn’t a walk in the park.” He acknowledges wholeheartedly. “But I want this to work. Maybe we just need to move in together.” He hadn’t meant to just blurt that out, but he’s been thinking about it.
“I—what?” You nearly spit out the sip of coffee you had just taken and sit up arrow straight in your chair, staring at him without the ability to stop yourself. “You—you want me to—to move in with you?” It’s never been discussed. Not really. At least not with a timeline, and that’s probably your fault. You’re so prone to jumping into relationships head first that you had told yourself you would move slow with Sam. That…seems to not be the case now.
“It doesn’t have to be now.” He promises. “Just something to consider. That’s all. We would get more time together.”
"I can honestly say I was not expecting that today." It's shaken you up a little, if you're honest, but you reach over your desk and squeeze his hand before leaning out of your chair to kiss him.
“That’s not a bad thing, is it?” It’s not quite the reaction he was expecting, if he is honest with himself.
"No, not at all!" You're quick to reassure him, realizing that Sam's expression is a little more guarded than usual. You've disappointed him. That's not a feeling you like at all. Not even a little. "I'd say the fact that my boyfriend wants to spend more time with me is a very good thing." If it's such a good thing, why is your mouth dry and why are you all tense with nerves? "And I want that, too. You just surprised me, that's all."
“Of course we need to talk about it more in depth.” He relaxes slightly, happy that you are at least open to the idea.
"Is that...something you want to talk about soon?" There are ideas rolling over in your head with varying levels of comfort, but the fact is that you hadn't realized that Sam was already there. Sure you had said your I love yous already, but you really had been trying to go slower this time, and that pace had seemed to suit Sam just fine. And why is it suddenly now that your mind is stuck on the idea that he isn't your soulmate? Is it just because you met a man who could be? You had always told yourself it didn't matter before now...
“We are coming up on our one-year anniversary of dating.” He reminds you, wondering why all of a sudden you look like you’ve seen a ghost. He’s been patient, letting you move slowly since you were afraid of diving in too much too soon, but this is the natural next step. Otherwise, it will be random sleepovers whenever you can manage it for the rest of your lives and Sam doesn’t want that. “I figured we could discuss what our next steps were.” He smiles softly. “I want the next steps, whenever you’re ready.”
"You're right." He is right. The logic is there, and the sweetness, and you do genuinely like him. In fact, loving him came easily and naturally. It's just that today has you a little shaken up and you don't want to admit it to yourself. Any other day and you would have been ecstatically throwing yourself into his arms. "You're absolutely right. This is definitely next." Composing yourself into a smile and reminding yourself to goddamn relax, you pick up your now cold coffee and finish the cup. "Why don't we pick a night this week to cook dinner together and talk through what we want our future to look like?"
“That works.” He flashes you the boyish grin you claim to love and nods. “Little food. Little wine, little….cuddling while we talk. It’s exactly what we need. You’ve been peddle to the mettle lately, and so have I. It will be good to decompress and hash out our concerns.”
"Perfect." And you will, you tell yourself sternly, get your shit together by then.
“But tonight…” he winks at you. “I’m going to whoop your ass at Clue.”

Because it's your turn to host, your small apartment has been cleaned top to bottom in preparation for the night. Sydney took care of making dinner, you have dessert in the refrigerator, and you have it on the authority of the group chat that garlic bread and salad are both coming as well. Juan said he and Marcus were supplying drinks, so everything is set up with plenty of time for everyone to arrive.
Agent Bailey is sitting on the couch waiting for her evening relief so she can go home to her own family and Sam is setting a stack of mismatched plates on the dining room table when Juan, Marcus, Sydney, and her sister Anna Leigh all show up very promptly on the turn of the hour.
Marcus is a little nervous aware that he has a tenuous tie to the game night, but he is quickly at ease when everyone starts greeting people like old friends. He hadn’t quite known what to get, so he had bought several bottle of whiskey and wine, figuring someone would appreciate it. The bottle of ‘76 Statesman Reserve a personal favorite of his and the little store he had stopped at had one last bottle.
"Hey, we didn't scare Marcus off!" Maybe you're a little happy to see him, but you excuse that as being glad that Juan has his friend back and ardently ignore the way your chest clenches when he walks into your little apartment.
“Hope you don’t mind.” He offers instantly, holding back from flirting like he wants to. You are seeing someone. “But I brought gifts.” He holds up the bottle, the others in his bag.
“Statesman.” You practically groan with delight at the sight of the bottle. “When we were campaigning in Kentucky, my little brother and I toured their distillery, I love this stuff.” Fighting the instinct to offer him a hug — and it really is an instinct — you grin and wander toward the kitchen to complete introductions. “You already know Syd and Juan, of course. The beautiful agent of chaos currently throwing garlic bread in the oven is Syd’s sister Anna Leigh, and the intimidating lady on the sofa with the New York Times crossword in her lap is Agent Bailey. I don’t know if you two officially met earlier or not. Looking around, Sam is not in sight, but you chew your lip for a second and smile. “My other half seems to have disappeared, but I’m sure he’ll be right back.”
“Oh, okay.” He shouldn’t be disappointed that your boyfriend is here. That’s what he keeps telling himself. “Congressman from Maryland, right?” Okay, he might have read up on you.
“Right.” There’s a note of something off in Marcus’s voice but you can’t figure out what, so you just smile. “I promise we don’t use official titles over board games.”
“Good.” He cracks a lighthearted grin. “I hate when I’m made in charge of the jail in Monopoly.” He jokes. He hands you the bottle and looks around the little apartment. “Anything I can do to help?”
“I think we’re just waiting for Issy and then everyone will be here. So for now if you want to maybe pour drinks while we all get settled?” This is always an informal setting and you want everyone to feel relaxed as much as possible. “Let me give you the grand tour first?” What a stupid thing to say in your little, tiny space. But now you’ve said it, so you just have to pretend it was something charming to say instead of awkward.
“That sounds good.” Marcus quickly agrees, although it’s obvious that there’s not much to the small space. “The private sanctum.”
“Eat it kitchen.” Is the space you’re standing in, with a too-big dining room table that is also your prep counter because there is basically no counter space — just enough to put a few grocery bags on and nothing more. “I have an unholy love of dinner parties, hence the big table. Over here is the living room. Mandatory bar cart with the tv, and as many throw pillows as the couch can hold.” Agent Bailey currently has her arm resting on the head of a pillow shaped like a horse that you brought back from a campaign trip out West. “Bathroom is down the hall, just here.” The door is closed, so that must be where Sam is. “And just turn the corner and you’re in the bedroom-slash-library.” You have to call it that — you really have to, because the entire room is covered in wall to wall bookcases that are pretty much entirely full. The only exceptions are where your sleigh bed and writing desk sit on opposite ends of the tight room. “It’s more library than anything else.”
“Obviously like to read.” He nods. “What genre? Or is it too embarrassing to mention in company?”
“I’m not embarrassed at all to read romance novels.” A whole section of the shelf by your bed is dedicated to them, in fact. Healthy sexuality and healthy explorations of that sexuality are vital, but you won’t get that far into the topic. “I have a lot of various things here, but the majority are probably mystery, thrillers, and classics from all over the world.” The shelf you’re standing by has your collection of writing by both F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, and you smile. “Of course, some of the classics are romances. That’s to be expected.”
“They are. I find that if you limit yourself in what you read, you are missing out.” He looks over your shelf with interest. “It looks like a wonderful collection.”
“Thank you. A compliment for my books is the highest compliment possible.” There’s a warm smile on your lips when the bathroom door pulls open a few feet away and you feel like you’ve been caught although there isn’t a single thing wrong about showing a new friend around your apartment. There’s no reason to jump out of your skin, but here you are with burning cheeks feeling embarrassed.
“Hey, sweetheart.” Sam doesn’t frown, but he wonders who this man is and why he is in your bedroom.
"Hey." Your smile does widen of its own accord, and you motion between the men in a sort of vaguely formal way that is definitely odd for you. "Sam, this is Marcus. One of Juan's old friends. He came by the inn earlier today and we thought it would be nice to introduce him to the group." It's awful, and very unnecessary, how heavy your tongue feels when you go to make the introduction the opposite way. "Marcus, this is Sam. My boyfriend."
It’s a little awkward, Marcus can admit that but he extends his hand. “Nice to meet you, Sam.” He offers, smiling in a friendly, first meeting kind of way. “My connection to the group is through Juan.” He explains. “We were at the academy together.”
"Ah, a government man." That seems to win Sam's approval, though his handshake might be just a hair tighter than it would otherwise be based on the tension in the air. "Well, welc—"
"Babe!" Sydney's voice comes loud and clear from the other room as the door opens and the sound of chaotic friends can be heard. "Issy's here! Let's gooo!"
The introductions are interrupted and it’s probably not a bad thing. Marcus lets go of Sam’s hand and immediately makes for the door. “Guess that’s our queue.”
“Coming!” You call back, eager to be standing anywhere but your doorway between these two men. “Issy is a friend from college.” That’s the easy explanation you give Marcus as Sam steers you back to the kitchen with his hand on your back. “Syd, Anna Leigh, and Issy and I were suite mates at Mount Holyoke.”
Marcus nods, committing everyone to memory. “Nice to meet all of you. Thank you for letting me join you tonight.”
Getting everything set up doesn’t take much longer, and a buffet of cheesy garlic bread, a huge salad, Sydney’s pancetta lasagna, and the lemon tiramisu you made for dessert is all laid out on the counter. Everyone digs in and says a loud chorus of rowdy good nights when your Secret Service detail has its changing of the guard in the middle of it all. It’s a lot, and it’s chaos, but it’s so comforting because these are all people you love to spend time with. Even Marcus, as new as he is, fits right into the group effortlessly.
“Oh! Sydney.” Marcus dives back into the bag and pulls out a bottle of sparkling white grape juice and some sodas and grenadine. “I figured you might like my family’s version of Shirley Temple’s?” He offers. “So you can have a mocktail with the ladies?”
“Absolutely!” Syd’s eyes light up at the offer, and she brings her overstuffed plate over to the table to sit beside her husband. In her favorite baggy sweatshirt, no one could ever tell she’s pregnant, but one of her hands rests on the side of her belly anyway. “That sounds fantastic.”
“So my grandmother used to make these for all the kids, so we could feel special too.” Marcus explains as he grabs a wine glass and starts to mix together the non-alcoholic drink. “It had to be sparkling grape juice because of the bottle shape.” He chuckles now, but back then? He had felt grown up. “When she died, we served these at her wake.”
“That’s so sweet.” Sydney awes softly as Marcus carefully pours out the drink. “These are Birdie’s favorite, actually,” she points her thumb back at you while she chats at him. “We usually spike them with rum, of course. To be a Shirley Temple Black. I can’t remember the last time I just had a regular old Shirley Temple.”
“A dirty Shirley?” Marcus gasps in faux horror. “The best way to spike that is with Statesman.”
“On it!” You hop up from the table immediately to grab a glass and line up next to Sydney at the counter. “I’ve heard of people doing them with rum and vodka, but never with whiskey. I have to know.”
He chuckles and nods. “You won’t regret it. The grape juice plays off the smoky, oaky flavors very nicely.” He tells you. “It’s almost better than a robust bouquet on a red.”
“I can’t claim to know anything about wine, but I’m trying to learn.” Sam prefers wine, and you’ve been trying to not feel foolish when people discuss wine pairings at official dinners. It’s been a fairly deep learning curve. “But I’ll take your word for it.”
“More of a whiskey girl?” Marcus asks, filing away the information even though it’s not like he’s going to use it. One of those odd little quirks of his time in the Bureau, he tries to read people.
“Always have been.” As evidenced by the Whiskey Makes Me Frisky sweater still stuff in your closet from college, which won’t see the light of day again until your mother is out of office. “You too?” Your eyes widen immediately and you stumble over correcting yourself. “Guy, I mean? Whiskey guy?”
Marcus laughs and gives you a guilty grin. “I learned to enjoy wine. My ex was a wino to the point where we honeymooned in Napa Valley.” He snorts. “But my first love was a Jack and Coke.”
“The next time you’re sick, have a whiskey and ginger beer.” The advice comes as he hands you your glass but he looks skeptical. “I mean, it’s a good drink no matter what, but I swear it knocks out my colds faster than anything else.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” Marcus hums and decides that he will make one for himself. “Tell me what you think.”
One sip has you groaning, and you bring the glass back to the table like you’ve found the Holy Grail. “Sammy, try this. I know you’re not usually big in whiskey, but this is fantastic.”
Sam wrinkles his nose, really uninterested in trying it, but he politely takes a sip. Pleasantly surprised, he makes a face. “Huh. That’s not as horrible as I imagined.”
“And that,” you look back at Marcus and laugh. “Is the highest compliment he’s ever given a whiskey drink.”
Marcus chuckles politely and motions towards the table. “There’s a nice Cabernet that he might like better.” He offers.
“That sounds perfect.” You move back to the counter to collect a wine glass, corkscrew, and the bottle to bring back, knowing that Sam will open it far more neatly than you can.
“So how has everybody been?” Prompting conversation once everyone is at the table gets the ball rolling nicely, and conversation starts as everyone starts to eat their dinner.
“Well, everyone knows that Sydney is expecting.” Juan boasts proudly, obviously loving the prospect of becoming a father. “But she started experiencing her first cravings.”
“Oooo, what are they?” Issy sits up in her chair immediately. “Please tell me it’s something non-gourmet. If this baby is a food snob I’m not going to have anything to tease you about.”
“Right now….” Juan grins and sends his wife an utterly besotted look. “Ranch flavored bugles.”
“Oh my god!” Both Issy and Anna Leigh practically scream with laughter immediately and your jaw hits the table with maniacal giggle.
“I know,” Syd moans in embarrassment. “I know! The baby likes ranch!”
“There must be a joke there somewhere.” Marcus laughs, enjoying the lighthearted atmosphere of the group and how they are all so easy with each other.
"Syd's current greatest fear is having a kid who doesn't care about food." You explain, picking up a forkful of lasagna. "If they turned out to not like food or hockey, she'll be doomed."
“I see.” He chuckles, although he himself had a less refined pallet when he was younger. Now he enjoys trying new things.
"They're exaggerating." Sydney promises, not wanting her husband's old friend to think she's that much of a snob. "Obviously no kid comes out loving caviar and oxtail."
“No, I can see why you would expect your child to give you cravings for something like this.” He praises, lifting a forkful of the lasagna. “I gave my mom cravings for salami and bologna. Which she couldn’t eat.”
"My mom had a lot of cheese cravings." Not expecting baby-oriented conversation was probably an oversight on your part, but it's fun and your best friend just absolutely glows whenever it's brought up. "With me it was gruyere, with my brother it was cheddar, and with my little sister it was asiago." The memory makes you grin, and you laugh a little, mostly to yourself. "She ate so many asiago bagels when she was pregnant with June."
“Ohhhhh I could see how that could be an easy craving.” Issy snorts. “I have cravings for those all the time and I’m not pregnant.”
"Right?" You're nodding in agreement instantly. "I'm honored that my pregnancy craving was gruyere. That's quality cheese."
“Maybe the craving will change to truffle cheddar fries.” Marcus suggests with a grin. “With ranch.”
“See, this is the kind of encouragement we should be thinking about. Positive thinking all the way.” Sydney grins, beaming across the table to her husband’s friend. Even if her hunch about the true nature of Marcus’s soulmate marks isn’t true, he’s still a good addition to the group. “What’s everybody else been up to.”
Everyone starts talking and Marcus leans back. Watching the dynamic of the group and it’s obvious that everyone is comfortable with each other. Talking over one another and laughing, poking fun in a gentle way. It seems as if Juan - and you - have a solid friends group.
The tempo of the night is unchanged from any other — there is as much laughter and fun as any game night you’ve had in years. The joy of having your friends nearby is never tempered, but tonight it is…just a little bit different. As for first time ever — with your boyfriend sitting next to you — you have to wonder if maybe your soulmate is actually sitting there at the table. And what will you do when it isn’t the man with his arm around you?

Tumblr media
you'd always seen it on tv, but you didn’t know how just embarrassing it would be to be caught making out with your boyfriend in the elevator – until it happened to you.
you and oscar manage to just part your lips when the elevator doors open, but you are still quite clearly clinging onto each other so it’s evident what you’d been doing. thankfully, you have no idea who the person entering the elevator is.
the rest of the elevator ride up to your apartment floor is awkward but thankfully short. it feels much longer, though, with oscar’s hand resting right above your butt, the teasing touches of his fingers making you wish you were in bed already.
once you finally close the door to your apartment, his lips crash onto yours again. your hands are all over each other, pulling the other as close as humanly possible. you don't usually feel this needy, but there's something special in your mood today. maybe it's the way oscar's been sending you those looks all evening. maybe it's the way his hand rose higher and higher on your thigh at dinner, stopping right below where you wanted him the most. maybe it's the way he kissed the side of your neck, not caring which of your friends saw.
and maybe that's why you feel extra annoyed once you actually make it into your bedroom.
he’s inexplicably slow undressing you both. at first, he's fidgeting with the seemingly stuck zipper of his own pants. and then he pretends he has problems taking off your bra – as if you don’t know he’s opened the clasp of this exact bra of yours about a million times already.
being with oscar was always the same way; so soft, so sweet.
so lustful.
he wasn’t often this teasing, though. intimacy between you two didn’t have to be rushed, it was quite often slow and sensual. but this time, it’s clear to you that his actions are purely meant to frustrate you and he's happy to see that it's working.
eventually, he’s crossed the line. it’s when he pretends to fiddle around in your bedside drawer for a condom that you break. “just fuck me already, oscar.”
he looks over at you and grins. this state is exactly where he wanted you to be. squirming, longing, begging. “good girls say please.”
“god, you’re so annoying.”
to his complete amusement, you sit up and reach into the drawer yourself, getting the condom up in just a millisecond. it was right there in plain sight, as you knew it would be.
you hold it up to your mouth, ripping apart the wrapper with your teeth before holding it up to your boyfriend. “can you put it on by yourself or do you need me to do that for you too?”
“you know the condom can break when you rip the packaging with your teeth.”
“i honestly couldn’t care less right now.”
he pauses, and then; “you’re wonderful.”
oscar’s grin is contagious, even though you’re so set on being irritated at him. your free hand reaches behind his neck, pulling him forward to lace his smile onto yours. the kiss is slow and sloppy but so so sensual, and you feel yourself getting even more turned on when his hand cups your cheek, pushing his lips even harder on yours.
oscar takes the condom from your hand, pulling away from you for just a moment to put it on himself. then he helps you lie down against your pillows again. his hands reach down to take your wrists in them and he pulls your arms above your head, holding your wrists together with his soft, delicate fingers.
"are you okay? is this okay?" he asks, his eyes searching yours for any slightest hint of uncertainty.
he finds none and when you nod and smile, he leans down to kiss you once again.
"you're so good to me, baby. will you be a good girl and take me in? all of me?"
and you nod, because there's nothing you'd rather do than let him have his way with you.

Twitter loves hockey Keith soooo
Au where Lance is dating the captain of Keiths hockey team so he's around a lot
He'll bring snacks, be at any hangouts, help host cookouts and celebrations when they win games. He's the teams biggest fan with the biggest heart and most fiery passion.
Lance has been around for years now, he's a team staple. Even the press knows who Lance is, their fans, their families.
So it's only fair that the entire team loves having Lance around even if Keith was initially reluctant....
Here's the thing. Keith likes lance alot actually, probably too much. He isn't blind to Lances beauty or how kind the man is or how smart, funny, ever so slightly annoying he is.
But he also isn't blind to the annoyed sighs their captain gives when lance texts him sometimes. He isn't blind to how little free time Lance has because the captain always wants lance around as a little trophy bf.
So when lance excitedly announced to everyone he's going on a half year, once in a lifetime, research trip stationed at sea? The first person Keith looks at is their captain.
The man has his press face on. It's thoroughly painted with fake joy for Lance and the news he'd be out of his sight for a long period.
It irks Keith enough that he asks Lance genuine questions about his trip he was clearly so excited for. The other team members follow suit best they can since most don't fully understand what exactly it is Lance does.
And look, Keith knows Lance isn't stupid. He knows Lance can see his long-term boyfriends distaste at the idea. He still finds himself worrying about the man when he sees them leave together, a clearly purposeful space between them as they go.
On the day Lance leaves he finds out the couple had had an argument about the entire thing that day Lance told them about it. Against his wishes Keith feels his blood boil on Lances behalf. It's that moment Keith decides. When Lance gets back he could use a genuine friend on his side of the ice and Keith is gonna make sure that's him.
So when Lance returns a week early after many long months away Keith jumps at the opportunity to help him.
Lance, like the sweet saint he is, said he'd wanted to surprise his bf so he hadn't told the captain he was back yet. Though Keith is bitter at the thought of the two reuniting he tells Lance they have a big team party tonight to celebrate their path into finals. He also tells Lance he can help sneak him right up to the captain.
Lance is understandably excited. The entire way there he's telling Keith how thrilled the captain will be since he'd never wanted Lance to go to begin with.
Despite it all Keith can't help but smile at Lances excitement. They're close to the back halls by then so Keith tells Lance to stick close and follow his lead.
Which he does.
Which he also regrets.
There's no romantic welcome home or happy surprise waiting for Lance. Instead, Keith leads him right up to the captain that's actively cheating on him with a woman in public.
Keith sneaks Lance right back out after he takes photos for evidence in what Keith can only assume is for a future fight. He takes a horribly silent Lance right back to the couples shared apartment. He guards the door as Lance packs and goes through their security system only finding more evidence of & confirmation of the cheating.
Keith escorts Lance to a trusted friends place and listens as Lance breaks down into sobs behind the front door as he leaves.
Their team doesn't see Lance again for a long time after that.
Their press team fought to keep the cheating scandal under wraps, claimed the breakup was due to mutual decisions. But Keith knows, the team knows.
They no longer trust their captain.
And as things continue through a rough patch of plays it turns out the cheating wasn't the only thing the man had lied about. Gambling, things that could be considered sabotage, outright lying to all their faces. Word was kept under lock and key least they be disqualified and have all their reputations destroyed. They had one final game to play.
So they do.
Winning doesn't feel the same without Lance watching the ice they skate on. It doesn't feel the same without his loud cheers and insistence on celebrating afterwards.
The only one happy with it is their captain who sits gleefully at the bar with his newest girl.
The rest of the team doesn't know how to feel. It doesn't feel like a win at all.
~•~
The next time Keith sees Lance is during his standard practice between seasons. He's alone on the ice today and is surprised to see those blue eyes looking at him through the glass.
Keith comes to a stop right Infront of him.
"Can I talk to you?" Lance blurts before Keith can even say a word.
Lance doesn't know this yet, but Keith could never deny him anything "yeah sure, I was done anyways"
He finds Lance waiting patiently in the locker room once he's done putting everything away.
"What's up?" He asks, watching lance look at him in question "You haven't been around. So I guess you have a good reason to be here now."
"I was looking for you actually."
"Me?"
"Yeah, I never got to thank you with all that happened....it-" Lance pauses looking down at his hands "it meant a lot to have a friend like you in the moment. I'm sorry for cutting contact."
Keith sits next to him bumping his shoulder playfully "you don't have to apologize for that, I get it. We all do."
"All....?"
"Yeah. The rest of the team, we all miss you but we get it."
Lance looks at Keith like he's surprised to hear such a thing "really?"
"of course? Lance- you do realize how often we hung out right? We all consider you a close friend and we were all furious with the captain for what he did to you."
"I-" Lance finally smiles, small but none the less genuine "and here I thought I'd be unwelcome."
Keith stands, holding out his hand to pull him up "your never unwelcomed Lance, not here, not around me. Why don't we grab some lunch and you can tell me about that trip you went on."
He pretends he doesn't see the tears filling Lances eyes as the man takes his hand and instead Keith focused on the joy radiating off him in waves
For the first time in almost a year Keith finally feels like he's feeling the sun again.
~•~
Keith sits through days and multiple lunch and dinner tales of Lances incredible research trip. It's thrilling to watch the man's eyes glitter in genuine happiness as he does so.
Keith realizes he's the first to genuinely ask after these details since everyone else simply wanted him distracted from the cheating fiasco. So Keith soaks up every detail, every stray insignificant video and piece of data lance is willing to give.
He's so greedy with it Lance laughs, thrilled someone was willing to finally listen. He actually sends Keith the initial drafts for the research (the non nda ones) along with the short writings that followed.
Keith is blown away by how hard Lance had worked. He's so incredibly proud of him, so thoroughly impressed by his intelligence and made Lance promise he'd send the published pieces once they're publicly available.
In return Lance starts attending Keith's hockey practices.
It starts with any that the ex isn't there and eventually spirals to any at all as the season grows nearer.
Lance diligently sits in the stands watching and critiquing the plays just how he used to if with a little more care.
The guys are thrilled to see Lance around again even if he's still reluctant to hang in the locker rooms and after.
Their captain ignores him in full and Lance does the same in return.
Once the games pick back up Lance slowly becomes Keith's personal cheerleader from the stands. It never fails to send a sharp spike of adrenaline through Keiths spine when he hears lance scream his name in support.
He roots for the entire team, minus one man, of course. But the team notes with amusement how Keith seems to be his favorite now.
And, well....Keith can't help but smile at that.
Lance is seen around almost all the time again with his focus mostly on Keith and Keith is smug the more it infuriates their captain as time passes.
He's enraged his ex is around again, he's enraged Lance had taken interest in someone else, he's enraged that that someone isn't him.
What the man doesn't know is Lance and Keith see way more of eachother that anyone knows.
Their captain doesn't know how Lance sometimes spends the night as his place and vice versa. How Lance text him everyday now and how Keith doesn't find it one bit annoying like he had.
He doesn't know how hard they'd fallen for eachother.
And when Keith wins their final game of the season he publicly dedicated it to Lance in their interviews afterwards.
Everyone but their captain follows in his steps saying that Lances support has been monumental to their moral as a team.
And Keith knows he's truly won when Lance pushes through the crowd and gives him a big kiss the moment he reaches him.
Lance smiles into that kiss with all the joy a ray of sunshine can provide and Keith makes sure to smile back just as big.
They go on their very first date the next day.

Getting caught in the wrapping paper

Getting caught in the wrapping paper
Captain Rex x Reader
This is my gift for @sunshinesdaydream for the @cloneficgiftexchange Secret Santa!!
Prompt: "Are you sure this is how the tradition goes?"
Words: 1k
Warnings: It's spicy, but no smut
“What kind of torture are you practicing to that poor box?” You look up from your awful try at wrapping up some gifts to give to the 501st to see Rex, leaning on the wall with his arms crossed over his armorless chest. Your mouth opens to reply something but you just let out a soft whine and look back down, feeling your face warming up.
You barely talked to Rex, ever. What was he doing on this part of the civilian barracks, watching you make a disaster of something you wished to gift to him and his vode.
You hear him getting closer to you, and then you see his hands when they reach out to your poorly attempt at a wrapped up gift. “What’s this thing supposed to be?”
“It’s just a gift, Captain…” you bite your lower lip trying not to look at the expression he’s making while he grabs the box from the table you're working at. And you’re so worried about what he’s thinking that you don’t notice the gasp that leaves his lips when you call him captain in that sweet voice of yours.
“A gift? Who do you hate so much to gift this to?” He chuckles a bit and grabs a nearby chair to sit next to you. Rex notices you’re not looking at him and how your brows are scrunched in worry and whispers a soft “hey” while bumping his knee against you.
You finally make eye contact with him and he presses his knee harder against your leg, getting closer, needing more of your contact. “Don’t worry, I’m sure whoever receives this will be happy to”.
At least, he knows he would be happy to receive something from you. The captain was head over heels for you, always looking at you when you crossed paths on the hallways of the ship. On the days when you briefly had touched him passing by he had to spend the night with his hand wrapped around his leaking cock thinking about how warm and soft you had felt. Imagining how you would feel pressed against him.
You smile up at him and he feels his heart skip a beat at the sight. His eyes focus on your lips when you separate them to talk to him in a hushed tone “It’s a gift for Life Day. I’m preparing a bunch of them to give to the troopers”
“Life Day?” He says, looking back at your eyes. “And what did you do to them?”
“Well… I was trying to…” he can tell you’re feeling intimidated by his stare so he goes back to focusing on the box in his hands, playing with the colorful paper hanging here and there around it, trying not to make you uncomfortable.
This was the most you had interacted with him without running away and he was holding in his breath, feeling the skin closer to you tingling with need. But he didn’t want to scare you away. “They’re supposed to be wrapped up, so they’re a surprise” you say handing him the roll of wrapping paper.
“Whatever for?” Rex hadn’t received many gifts before but they sure never had been wrapped up, so right now he doesn’t see the need for you to go through all this struggle just to wrap some gifts up. He’s sure his vode will love any gift they receive from you, even if it’s unwrapped.
“It’s the tradition?” your soft voice sounds so unsure he feels his chest contract when he hears you, he wants to protect you, to make you feel better.
“Are you sure this is how the tradition goes?” he’s trying to encourage you, not wanting you to have a bad time because you’re trying so hard to do this right, and its not going as well as you wish it was. So he starts to unroll the wrapping paper and holds up his hand towards you “hand me something to cut this up”.
“Yes, sir” it catches him off guard and he swallows loudly, feeling himself getting hard just from those two words. “And I’m sure! I used to celebrate Life Day with my family, but I have always been awful at wrapping the gifts up”
He doesn’t say anything for a moment. He can’t think. Your words replaying in his mind again and again. His cock slowly twitching to life. He has to bite his own tongue to avoid any sound to escape his mouth. Instead the captain starts to cut the wrapping paper and centers the box on top of it to distract himself.
Rex can feel your eyes on his hands so he makes a show of moving them slowly. He wants you to touch them. He needs to do something to feel you closer to him. “Come here, let me help you”. He wraps his arm around your body, caging you in, against the table, your body now pressed on his side. Safe enough so you don’t feel his bulge but close enough so he is indulging himself.
He inhales your scent, and starts moving his hands and yours, wrapping the box up together.
It takes a while, your fingers tangling with each other and a few nervous giggles escaping you. He’s so focused on you, your heat, your hands, the way your breath feels against his skin when his arm moves near your face.
Everything keeps making his cock throb. He wants more. But he will settle for this. For now.
Once you finish wrapping them all up you get away from him, a breathless whimper leaving his mouth. His hand reaching towards you not wanting to let you go.
“Here, this one is for you, Captain” you then hand him one of the recently wrapped up gifts with a small smile and warm cheeks on your face.
“For me? Thank you, cyare” he grabs the gift and feels his heart beating fast, why was it beating faster than when you were between his arms? That didn’t make any sense. He could feel the tip of his ears heating up, and felt like he might choke, his heart on his throat.
“And.. well… thank you for helping me” you then grab his chin and press your soft lips against the skin of his cheek, making it itch in the best of ways. He could now feel his cock leaking precum at the mere touch of your lips against him, as innocent as the act was. “Happy Life Day, Rex” the captain then gasped loudly, his mouth open and looking at you. He nodded slowly and mumbled his goodbyes, being him the one to run away for once.

Minors DNI
Smut starts here:
11:58PM, cupcake in hand, you stood nervously in front of Mingis studio door. You wanted to surprise him for his birthday, but he texted you saying he had to finish a track he was working on. You understood, these are things you deal with when dating an idol. However, you had to see him, birthdays meant a lot to you. Mingi always described his birthday as
"Just another day on earth." It was way more to you then that, it was another day you got to spend celebrating Mingi, someone you really liked.
You and Mingi were not technically official, more so trapped in the "talking phase" because Mingis schedule is so hectic, you rarely get to see the man. When you would text Mingis phone during the day his manager would reply letting you know that he would get back to you soon. His manager, bless him, was sweet enough to only give you that courtesy, he was open and honest with you and let you know that the other girls Mingi "spoke with" doesn't get a reply until Mingi remembers they exist.
You recall his manager once texting you and saying, "I like you, you have a good heart and want what’s best for him I'll remember to knock him in the head when he forgets to reply to you."
Though the gesture was sweet Mingi still forgets to reply and sometimes you would not hear from him for hours, days even weeks, but again you understood. Your life gets busy too, you were in your final term of culinary school and sometimes worked late at a bakery you worked at.
While you’re zoned out you realize the time was now 12:02AM.
"Oh fuck-" You burst through the door.
"Happy birthday Mingi!"
Mingi looked over at you and so did another set of eyes, which is when you saw exactly what was going on.
Mingi texted you 4 hours ago cancelling on you saying he was going to be at the studio late but what he did not mention was that someone else would be there, and not just anyone. It was who you like to call "one of his other hoes". You're standing there silently with a big dumb smile on your face, a cupcake with a lit candle and another girl sitting on your man that’s not your man’s lap, what a fun sight indeed.
"Oh, sorry I-I didn't know you had someone here." you start stuttering and moving franticly, hurrying to blow out the candle.
"Y/N I didn't know you were coming I woulda-"
"No, no, no, no it's like totally fine, why would you know haha that’s what surprises are for right?" you said still smiling like the idiot you are.
The girl in Mingis lap- actually scratch that- the beautiful girl in his lap just looked you up and down.
"Who is this baby?" She looked over at Mingi and said.
Baby? Now you're getting irritated, you haven’t even started calling Mingi baby so why does this girl get to…
You don’t know rather to start swinging on everyone in that studio, drop to your knees and cry or just walk out in defeat. Time is moving so slow now and you wish you would have just stayed home in your short shorts and oversized t-shirt eating ice cream and watching family guy. Instead, you’re here with a full face of makeup, your curly hair all shiny because he loves how curly hair looks on you, a short black dress with your favorite oversized cardigan and high-top rick owns sneakers you saved up to buy to impress him. You shake yourself out of your thoughts and decided to be the bigger person here and just leave.
“Sorry, I’m Y/N, Mingis…Friend” You smile and reach your hand out to shake her hand.
“Oh! Hi, I’m one of the girls also fucking the guy you talk too.” She smiled while shaking your hand. That’s not really what she said, but that’s what your brain made you hear.
“Nice to meet you! Well, Mingi I was just dropping this off I’m-“ Your sentence was abruptly interrupted by another person walking into the door, Hongjoong, Mingis group member and leader.
“Yo, I don’t know how true it is, but I think Y/N is here.” He was distracted by his phone and not paying attention to see you standing right there, he had a pretty girl with him as well, she is also not paying attention and actually looks very irritated by this entire thing.
“It’s very true, I am here.” You turned to him and said with a sarcastic smile on your face. Hongjoong looking shocked like he just saw the grim reaper, he knew women and he could tell that was the face of a woman ready to cut someone’s head off and he was right. You couldn’t bring yourself to go off though. You wanted to leave with what little dignity you had left in you, so you put the cupcake down waved everyone goodbye and walked out silently.
When you reached your apartment Mingi didn’t even try to call or text you, your phone was dry minus the unread messages from other guys you’ve ghosted for Mingi. Deciding to not even think about it you went to get the makeup off your face and changed clothes. Once changed you decided to go back to your tradition of eating ice cream and watching tv on your comfortable couch. Due to your culinary background, you don’t have just plain ol’ vanilla or chocolate ice cream, you walked over to your fridge to grab the lavender and honey flavored ice cream you bought recently. Mingi often jokes about you always having “Some gourmet shit” in your house but one thing he always noticed was that you loved honey. You always had really high-quality honey around your apartment, or something honey flavored. Mingi even went as far as having your name in his phone as honey because of this that was just an assumption you made, you technically never knew why he saved it as honey.
Sitting on your couch watching tv, you pick up your phone to check the time.
“2:17AM” stared back at you, still no text or call from the birthday boy and you were over it, fuck him! You know technically you had no right to feel upset or jealous, you were there unannounced, you invited yourself there and most importantly, he is NOT your boyfriend. But you can’t help it, you can’t help but have the pit in your stomach, the rage in your chest and the insecurities in your mind. Luckily you are a sane person and you’re not made at the girl, no, she didn’t do anything, if anything she is a victim of male bullshit just like you. At the same time, you are jealous she was so beautiful and seemed so nice and you aren’t a slouch either, but she was Instagram baddie level. NO. NO. NO. Don’t be that girl, don’t compare yourself to the other woman just to make yourself feel worse. You don’t deserve that; you don’t deserve to deal with someone that makes you feel like this either.
2:39AM, you yawned, finally feeling sleepy, thank God you called off tomorrow because you planned an entire day to celebrate that asshole.
Suddenly there was a knock on your door, your stomach dropped, either that is a very nice serial killer or that’s-
You get up to look in the peephole, yup.
Mingi, he’s standing there looking tall and gorgeous as always. Fuck why do fuck boys always have to be fine as hell? You rolled your eyes and opened the door, not saying a word just gave him a “Can I help you?” kind of puzzling look.
“What’s up? You stopped by the studio and just left before I could talk to you.” He said and you arched your eyebrows, was he fucking serious?
“Yeah, Mingi you seemed pretty busy, so I left.” You walked away to sit on your couch, leaving the door open and him standing there, so he invited himself in and closed the door behind him.
“Is this about the girl that was there? Because I can explain that, HJ invited his girl to the studio and she brought her friend, her friend was a girl that I use to talk to and she just got comfortable, nothin’ serious.”
“In a studio room with a big ass comfortable couch and multiple chairs she decided to get comfortable in your lap? And that’s “nothin’ serious” to you? Please be fuckin’ forreal Mingi, I’m not stupid.” You rolled your eyes, shook your head, and went back to your ice cream and tv.”
He walked over to sit next to you, plopping down so close you were sitting thigh to thigh.
“Look, I’m going to be real with you, me and her use to fuck around but she’s boring so I ghosted her, I was focused on work and she came with her friend hugging and kissing me and telling me she missed me, I told her to chill but she still wanted to be by me and she invited herself to my lap. After you came, I felt weird, so she her and her friend left, I finished work and instead of going back to the apartment, I came here.”
When he finished explaining you genuinely couldn’t tell if he was lying or not, but it did make you feel kind of warm that he bothered even giving you an explanation, even though that’s the bare minimum. After you didn’t respond he kept talking.
“Look I’m sorry if that situation made you uncomfortable but at the same time, Y/N…we aren’t together…I know that’s not what you want to hear but that’s just what it is.”
Yeah, never mind on that warm feeling, all the groundwork he just put in is out the window.
“You don’t fucking think I know we aren’t together Mingi? You don’t think I know that I’m not allowed to be upset if you fuck with another girl?” you slammed your ice cream down on the coffee table and gave him a stern look.
“Alright calm down.” He reached him hand out to try to touch you, but you pushed it away.
“Don’t fucking tell me to calm the fuck down! I know we are both single and I know you can do what the hell you want but don’t sit here and not be real with me. You hadn’t texted me in hours and next thing I know you’re in the studio with some other bitch in your lap while I’m standing there looking like the dumbass of the year.” You were so upset that you got up and grabbed your ice cream and walked to the kitchen, not caring that your short shorts had rode up and started to show the bottom of your ass. Mingi was no longer listening he couldn’t help but to zone in on the sight. He needed to fix this, and he needed to fix it now because he needs you, bad.
There are somethings that were true about Mingis story, the girl that came was Hongjoongs girlfriends’ friend, but Hongjoong told Mingi his girlfriend was coming over and Mingi asked about the girl.
“Aren’t you and Y/N getting pretty serious though? You sure that’s a good idea?” Hongjoong asked with “Bro don’t risk it” written all over his face.
“Yea but, I forgot to text her back and it’s too late to ask her to come through so fuck it.”
“Okay, I can’t save you if something happens.”
When the girls arrived Hongjoong and Mingi went to their separate studios, Mingi absolutely participated in a little bit of making out and heavy petting but when you came with the exact cupcake he said he wanted for his birthday from the Italian bakery that always sells out he felt, dare he say it, bad. Mingi was a handsome guy over 6’0 feet so he naturally can get who he wants, and he was used to running through women within a 1–5-month course and telling them “I’m an idol I don’t have time to date.” When things got too serious. He told you the same thing, but it was something about you, he actually enjoyed having you around. He liked your quirks and style; you had a really pretty smile and a very genuine heart. He hasn’t dealt with a girl that actually can hold a conversation he enjoys in a while, until you two started talking.  You were absolutely worth getting to know, but shit started to get serious with you and when he tried to pull back and give you the same excuse, he was shocked when you agreed and said, “yeah I’m focusing on school and work too right now.”
Now, yes Mingi did start to feel bad about you leaving, but yes, he also came into the girls throat before they left, and he went to go fix things with you.
Mingi got up to follow you into the kitchen. “Calm down Y/N and hear me out.” You put your ice cream away and stood in front of him, he towered over you, it was like a gazelle fighting back against a lion and his bullshit.
“I’m not hearing shit out Mingi, don’t come over here looking for me after you just had pussy fall into your lap, LITERALLY!” you tried to leave the kitchen, but Mingi pulled you back.
“I’ve been real chill while you stood here screaming and yelling and cursing at me but you’re not about to keep walking away while I’m talking to you.”
“And if I do?” you looked back at him and said.
He pulled you back and pushed you against the fridge.
“Stop fucking playing with me Y/N, I’m not like the lame ass guys you like to waste time with when I’m not responding.”
God dammit, now your mad AND your pussy was wet, whatever happens from here is completely out of your control.
“I said I was sorry so...”
“So?”
“So, give me a kiss and let me make it up to you.”
You stayed silent for a minute but of course you listened, you kissed Mingi with your lavender and honey flavored lips. The kiss was hot and steamy, Mingi immediately stuck his tongue in your mouth like he wanted to taste the ice cream you just ate. On your way from pulling back to get air Mingi bites your bottom lip sensually.
“Damn, you taste so sweet, you know why I always call you honey?” He said looking at you with low and lustful eyes.
The heat in your core rising, feeling the thump on your clit was intense.
“No, why?”
He started to kiss down your neck, the kisses having some suction to them.
“Because you always taste so sweet, your entire body is like I’m drinking a bottle of honey.” Continuing to kiss and suck your neck you felt his hand go up your thigh and grip your ass.
Whimpers spilling from your mouth, and you grip his t-shirt to keep yourself grounded.
“Actually, you taste sweet too.”
Mingi pulls back, removing his soft and supple lips from your neck.
“Oh, yea I tasted the icing on the cupcake you got me, how did you get it? That bakery is always closed, and I can never make it on time?”
“Oh, well I actually made that, my friend that I’m in school with use to work there and he gave me the recipe for the vanilla bean cupcakes that you like, so I remade it and added my own special touch to the icing.” You smiled being proud of your culinary skills.
“Wow, you really are something else Y/N.”
You can’t help but to smile “Well thank you, I’m glad you liked it.”
“Do you have more of the cupcakes?”
Oh, uh- no actually only one of them came out tasting the same but I have a piping bag of icing left.” You go into your refrigerator and take out a piping bag of the home-made icing. It was a simple vanilla buttercream that you added some honey and mango extract to brighten up the flavors.
“Want some?” You offered him, he nodded, and you squeezed some on too his finger. He sucked the icing off, and you watched the whole thing happen you stayed silent while watching because you were so turn on in that moment. You bit your lips as he pulled his finger from his mouth, he smiled at you.
“Have you tried it yet?”
“Um- I tried some as I was making it. Not the finished product.”
“A chef should eat their own cooking, here.” Took what was left on is two fingers and coached them into your mouth, your lips gladly inviting his digits in. You closed your eyes and sucked and licked all the icing off, your hot mouth melting the cold icing onto your tongue. The flavors covering your mouth with a mix of Mingis and your spit make your heat even hotter. Mingi moved his fingers back and forth into your mouth, you could feel his intense gaze as he watched you while biting his lip.
Mingi removed his fingers from your mouth, you were sucking so hard there was a significant pop upon exiting.
"See it's good, isn't it? You did such a good job Y/N" a cocky grin on his face like he was the one that made it.
"Th-thank you." You took the praise to heart and to cunt, you regret not wearing panties because your shorts are sticking to you due to the mess being made in them.
He takes the icing from you.
"I wonder what else this icing would be good on." Your heart drops a bit anticipating his next move. Mingi lifts your shirt, and you finish the job by fully removing it, you opted out of wearing a bra because you were in the comfort of your own home, and you'll be damned if you felt constricted.
"Mmm what will it taste like if I-" he took the bag and 1 line going down your boob, starting from the top all the way down to your nipple. "ate it right off your gorgeous tits?" Mingi grabbed both your shoulders before diving it and lapping up the icing. Your breathing spiked, this was the sexiest shit ever, a man appreciating your food AND eating it off of you, this has got to be all chefs dream right?
Pretty moans were all you could do as he licked the icing off of your chest making quite the mess actually, but how could you bring yourself to give a fuck about ants when a fine ass man is sucking icing off your titties. The answer is...you can't, you can't give a fuck, you can't even think straight, you feel your mind blanking as he wraps his juicy lips around your nipple and flick them with his tongue.
"Mingi please" You were standing there rubbing your thighs together trying to generate even the slightest bit of friction between your legs.
"Please what?" He started to lick your nipples slowly awaiting your response.
"Please- I need you there too."
"Where baby."
"I need you to lick my pussy too...please."
"It's my birthday so I guess I do want more sweets."
He placed the piping bag on the counter and backed you into the wall then got down on his knees. He took your shorts off then lifted one of your legs over his shoulders.
"Wait Mingi lets go to my room or the couch."
He ignored your request.
"You're this wet for me already baby?" He leaned in to kiss your needy sex repeatedly getting closer and closer to your eager clit. Once his puffy lips sucked the nub your head dropped back and hit the wall.
"Fuck." was your only response, Mingi gripped the underneath of your thigh to get a nice firm hold on you. His tongue starting to explore your pussy to get a nice taste of you, mixing the taste of the icing and your sweet juices together to create a heavenly mixture.
"I love tasting this pussy so much, you’re the only one baby, the only pussy I love to eat." He said between licks, you again can't tell if he is telling the truth but even a lie could sound sweet in a moment like this. Drunk and dazed from your cunt Mingi takes his unoccupied hand and moves his digits into your wet hole. Mingi never stopped lapping up your juices as he pushed his fingers in and out of you. You felt the need to buck your hips and grind onto his face, your hands taking refuge in his hair gripping the short light pink locks.
"Mingi I'm gonna cum oh my god."
"That’s right pretty girl cum all over my face." You continued to gyrate your hips on too him, he sped up the pace as he slammed his fingers in you, his mouth now sucking your sensitive nub like it was a sucker. You gripped his hair so tight his scalped lifted as you came all over his mouth and fingers while incoherently yelling his name.
Mingi stood up and put his finger by your mouth and it was almost instinctual for you to lick your cum off of them. When you were done you realized you were fully naked and sticky from having spit and icing all over you. You got a little shy and used your arms to cover yourself.
"Aww don't get shy pretty girl, we just started." he pulled you into his still clothed chest and gave you a kiss, he then swiftly bent you over your kitchen counter.
"Mingi~ Why here why not the bed or something." You felt shy, being fully naked bent over in front of him so he could see you on full display made you want to scream.
"I need to fuck you right now baby." he reached into his pocket to pull out a condom, not even his wallet, the condom was in his pocket because Mingi knew he could lie and sweet talk his way into some pussy. I mean, was he wrong here you are giving him some.
He pulled his pants down taking his underwear with them then rolled the condom down his long and thick dick. Mingi didn't just have hoes because of his cool demeanor, no, it was that dick. Mingi had the kinda dick that you were willing to fight 100 women for, the kind of dick that makes you wanna bring HIM flowers, the kinda dick that has you bent over ass naked in your kitchen at 3am with 0 complaints.
He pumped his member a few times to prepare himself, guiding his tip to your tight entrance, you had just came so you winced abit when you felt to pressure of him trying to enter you. He slowly began to push his dick into you and your mouth was left agape. This wasn't your first time fucking him but with a dick like that every time feels like the very first time. It was a tight fit and your pussy was clenching and pulsing on his rod. You felt the knot in your stomach return. Mingi gripped both sides of your hips, he leaned down with his lips inches away from your ear, he whimpered at your pussy gripping his dick. The whimpers and him finally bottoming out inside of you had you seeing stars as you came on his latex covered member.
"Ah Fuck, damn did you just cum again? Don't go having all the fun without me, it is my birthday."
He started moving his hips to pump his dick in and out of your sensitive pussy.
"Oh fuck~"
The over stimulation provided a very intense kind of pleasure, a pain that felt fucking amazing, you can't help but to want more and more of him.
Mingi remembered the icing bag that he sat down on the counter and grabbed it. Before you could ask what he was doing he squeezed some of the sweet cream on the top of your spine.
Leaning in, he started to lick the icing up driving his tongue up your spine, you wanted to actually scream, and you did, you yelled Mingis name like it wasn’t late as hell at night. Fuck your neighbors, right? The only thing you cared about is the big ass Man fucking you until the only words you could say was his name. He continued to lap up the sweet icing while his dick pounded into your abused sex. Your eyes rolled so far into the back of your head if it was possible, you could probably see your brain.
Once Mingi finished licking up what was left of the icing he grabbed a handful of your curly hair and brought your ear to his mouth.
“I’m fucking you so good aren’t I baby?”
“Yesss oh my fucking GOD yes.”
“Mm are you going to cum on my dick for me baby? Make my dick all creamy.”
“Yes, fuck yes.”
He started to pound directly into your spot, the tip of his dick hitting you deeply, you started to see stars your legs became weak.
“Cum right now baby.”
And that you did, you came with nothing but praises of how much you love his dick fell out of your mouth. Mingi groaned as he reached his climax as well pushing his dick all the way into you and holding it there as he shot hot white ropes into the condom. If the day ever comes that you trust Mingi enough to fuck him raw you might go crazy and fight everyone in your path.
You both were exhausted, it was almost 4am, Mingi backed up and removed his length from your swollen cunt. He pulled up his pants removed his shirt because it was now covered in the remaining icing that was on your back. You were stuck after your mind-blowing orgasm and getting fucked into next week. He turned you around, picked you up and sat you on the kitchen counter. You wrapped your arms around his neck and put your head on his shoulders. You were sticky, sweaty, covered in spit and tired as hell. Mingi put his arms around your naked body.
“I really am sorry if I put you in an awkward situation Y/N, you do mean a lot to me.”
“Thank you for saying that.”
“Well, I guess I should go huh?” He pulled back from you and looked you in the eyes, he said he had to go but his eyes said, “Let me stay”. Not because he was too tired to go back home but because he wanted to spend what little was left of that night/morning hold you in his arms. You made Mingi weak, you made not only his dick throb but his heart. You care for him, check on him, make him feel wanted, make him feel secure and make him feel special and he felt bad that he didn’t do the same for you.
“You know damn well you are not leaving after you just fucked me like that. Come on so we can get in a hot bath and go to sleep.”
You ran not hot bath with a cute bath bomb and some honey and oats bubble bath. You got in first and Mingi sat behind you holding on to your wet bad. You both too tired to even wash up you sat and enjoyed the warm water and the aromatic smells; you laid your head on his wet chest and he kissed your forehead.
“You know we go together real bad now, right?” you said with your eyes closed, Mingis heart dropped to his stomach at the thought of actually being in a committed relationship but then he thought about it, it was you and honestly you were worth it.
“Best birthday gift ever” he said in agreeance.

Vhagar's diary (The Point of view of a dragon) ((Slight spoof)
Tumblr media
This fanfic has been dedicated to my friends, who told me to start writing and to kinda dont give a f what people think about it, tbf people will always moan.
The majestic dragon Vhagar shares her story, in a exclusive interview/tell all biography. What does she remember and what can she tell us about the past? What do we know? Vhagar tells all is part of a mini series featuring three parts of Vhagars life leading up to house of the dragon, with her ...unique thoughts and perspective!
Tumblr media
I have always been a simple, elegant and well-educated dragon. I was born at Dragon Stone, which would become the ancestral seat of the Targaryens. The Targaryen family has plagued me for as long as I’ve been alive. From the very moment I hatched, I was wary and paranoid of those white-haired people. It was very clear to me, as with any other sane soul, that there was something incredibly wrong with them. So, naturally: I felt right at home in their presence!
I could hear the swords clash whenever Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys were around. I could smell the sweet smell of blood whenever they were near and feel the fire burn in their veins, yes all that is true. But I must admit that I never felt more comfortable as I did at Dragonstone. It is perhaps a bit childish, but I hatched there. It shall always be my home.
What did I think of the three conquerors personally? Aegon smelled funny. He smelled like cattle and he had a big dragon called Balerion. Aegon was a true Targaryen in name, and birthright, and shared this wonderful bloodthirsty mind that befitted a Targaryen. He also gave me treats whenever Visenya would look away. Aegon married both Rhaenys and Visenya, for some reason I as a dragon quite don’t understand. But he preferred Rhaenys over Visenya, unfortunately.
It was difficult for me when he died, I’ll admit it. I wish I had killed him for the pain he inflicted on Visenya. That will forever be my greatest regret, dear reader. I lit his funeral pyre, but I must admit it is no fun lighting a corpse that has been killed by a better, clever and stronger someone before you.
Rhaenys was a sweet boring woman and therefore never interested me, personally. But as Visenya’s first soldier, loyal servant and beloved pet I had to see and watch how Aegon treated Rhaenys and Visenya and let me tell you it was so difficult to not breathe fire at each of them whenever i saw them together.
Visenya. Visenya was the cleverest sweetest most generous and greatest woman that ever lived and shall ever live, mark my words and count my scales! From the moment we bonded, I knew, that woman was a special soul, like me. I could tell, because these are my words, so you have to either buy them, or leave it.
I remember after she and I bonded; she did a victory ride, with me, soaring through the skies. I never had been bonded before, and no rider’s bond would be as strong as the one I shared with her. I always suspected that Visenya and I were part of the same soul, brought together by fate. We were meant to die together, too.
Aegon, the pervert, was watching us, and now that she did have a dragon, he was interested in marrying his other sister as well. Visenya was happy. I think I know why. She was finally noticed. She was finally good enough.
From the moment I hatched, I always have been in Balerion’s shadow. Quite literally. Have you seen the size of that beast? But sadly, it is true, I swear on my beautiful horns. The Black dread, they called him. He inspired genuine fear, true terror in ways I could only dream of. You must know, that I was quite the pathetic baby lizard at that time, but I grew and I grew harder out of pure spite, jealousy, and determination.
It was a sight to behold, the conquest. So many burning things, so many fleeing things! Visenya and I flew to Stokeworth. I never understood humans very well, but according to Visenya StokeWorth was not first in line when the gods handed out brains. They shot bolts at us until I turned the castle roofs to crisp and ash.
At some point, they crowned Aegon too, I can’t recall when it happened, as I don’t really care about Aegon, much as you can probably tell.  I do recall Visenya feeding me a nice big cowhead as a thank you for my loyal servitude. I never had any friends, but she comes close to what I would consider a friend if you must know.
Castles fell at our feet, men begged us for mercy, they screamed prayers at their gods as I and the other dragons soared above the skies of Westeros, teaching it the meaning of ‘Fire and Blood’. It felt great to be a part of something bigger than me, something that I would know would last centuries. Something that I would know would last long after I had left behind this, earthy crispy shell of a ball.
It was great. But like all great things, this came too an end.
The Dornish people killed Rhaenys and the dragon Meraxes in Dorne. Aegon never was the same after their deaths, neither was Visenya. There was this hole left in her soul that no dead body could fill. We went on a beautiful trip to Dorne, avenging the fallen Queen and her dragon. I did not care much for revenge; I was just happy to be invited and to taste Dornish.
Aegon died in 37 AC, and I was invited to light his funeral pyre. I did so with great pride and effort, happy to see the flames lick away the remains of that man. Visenya had again lost something very dear to her, and she remained close to me. The eldest of the three, yet the last alive.
In 41 AC, I saw my birthplace again. Visenya had taken me back to Dragonstone, when Aenys, one of the sons Aegon had fathered, named another Aegon, the prince of Dragonstone, which made him the heir of the Targaryen kingdom we just conquered. I pray to their ‘gods’ whatever these might be, that this is the final man named Aegon in the Targaryen dynasty, as this dragon already finds this incredibly confusing.  I understand my lady was very upset. We passed the moon, and it turned red, according to witnesses. Well, those had a little bit too drink, I think. I did not see such a thing.
It fell from the skies and shattered. I did see that. But what they claim? No that’s a lie, my apologies.
The rest of the tale that follows is the tale of the maesters, of corrupt men writing on powerful women. I would not speak ill of the dead, though I do so with much pleasure, but my Visenya was no evil woman. She was gentle with me, she was good and kind. She had given dozens of reasons to burn her sister and brother alive, jealousy being the main one. I must admit, perhaps time erased all the horrible things Visenya did, and only made her sweet in my memory. I do not see Visenya as some beacon of goodness. I see her as any dragon should see their riders: Once upon a time, I was confronted by a girl who stared into my eyes, tears running down her face, begging for a chance to become a Queen. And I gave it to her.
As a dragon, it is hard for me to remember all this stuff. I did not become attached to much humans in my lifetime. Most I ate. But Visenya was unique for I felt we had a connection. A deep connection that threw us together and bound us.
It was terrifying watching Visenya visit me, every time a little thinner, and a little thinner. I once shared my cow with her, but she did not like the meat, I think. Visenya was declared dead in the year 44 AC, but she died much earlier, I tell you. I watched her die, multiple times a day, multiple times a year, until I finally felt this, horrible emptiness. I wept and screamed, breathed fire until I had blackened the walls of dragonstone, but none of it mattered. I knew she was gone. Nothing could bring her back. I felt alone, truth be told.
At that moment, all I wanted was to join her. We should have died together, fighting as warriors. They call my lovely lady a Kinslayer, perhaps a Kingslayer and a murderer and an unfaithful witch. Well, let them, I say. My lady remains one of the most iconic queens of the Targaryen dynasty, and I shall forever be proud she was my first rider.
She was amazing.
Not as amazing as me, but be honest: Who even can be?!

Vhagar's diary ends here. A part two might be in the works, I love vhagar very much and i like imagining her life but clearly she forgets/misremembers things and its so fun to write something else for a change.

Fair Deal (Yuri Briar x Fem OC)
Tumblr media
He hated her soft honey blonde hair. He hated her innocent greyish blue eyes. He hated her gentle smiles. He hated the fact that her sister liked her very much. He hated the fact that he fell hard for her at the first sight. How cruel of her to flash him her gentle smiles, to laugh so innocently at his jokes, to always look so angelic without even a bit of effort, to take the place in his heart he thought only his sister would have.
All this ruckus started when he went to the Forger household for the first time, after knowing that his sister is married for a year and didn't even tell him. (Referring to episode 8). Apparently Loidie Loid also had a sibling, well a sister, of his age. Yor met her before that night and wouldn't stop talking about how adorable she is, and how she reminds her of him (Yuri). Yuri didn't really thought much of that. But then his sister called him to help Anya with her studies. Happier than ever, he skipped happily towards the forger household mainly to meet his sister. Reaching the door and ringing the bell, while expecting to see his sister, he got the biggest surprise of his life. Innocent grey-blue eyes, shoulder length honey blonde hair, the angelic greeted him as he froze on the spot. How can someone be so beautiful? Apparently, Loid also called his sister to teach Anya math, because he knew that she would be able to teach her in a way that Anya would understand. While Anya solved the problems that Lillith (I thought why not give her a name similar to Loid, as Yuri and Yor look alike while having similar names. You can change the name according to your wish though), Yuri talked to her. He wanted to be rude like he was to Loid, showing her that he didn't liked her a bit. Oh how miserably he failed, but can you blame him? So innocent and sweet, anyone would like her in an instant. It's not his fault that he talked to her about her interests, hobbies and job, soaking every little detail in his mind. No, it wasn't his fault.
This didn't stopped their. Lillith was Loid's sister, so of course she would be invited to the family events of Forgers that he was invited to. Soon he found himself bring 2 flower bouquets instead of one, a big, full of roses for Yor, and a smaller one, with Variegated Tulips (search it's symbolism) for Lillith, because why not?
All these small bits of kinds and affection didn't escaped Yor eyes. Oh my oh my, Yor became the biggest shipper and wing woman for Yuri after this. Yuri, on the other hand, finally accepted his feelings, because Yor can't be wrong, can she? Loid fell in love with his (Yuri's) sister and married her, wouldn't it be fair if Yuri does the same? Lillith is naive, so wouldn't Loid want someone for his sister who he knows and is also a good person? She's always happy whenever he (Yuri) is around, so it wouldn't be bad if he decides that she is the one for him and he is the one for her, right? It's a fair deal in his eyes...

pairing: yang jungwon x gn!reader [established relationship] || word count: 0.6k genre: fluff || warnings: not entirely proof read, my beta reader is an idiot who focuses on the wrong details (ily bae but. 😭), talks of a serious and committed relationship synopsis: jungwon was bad at gifts. but this year he had a feeling even though he was being selfish with his present, he knew you were going to love it. note: can you tell i'm bad at endings-? anyways !! my first enhypen work 🫶 AND. this is a late birthday present for @daengnyangs <3 Cass!!! We haven’t known each other for long but. every time we've talked has been wonderful and fun and full of love <3 thank you for entertaining all my insane thoughts! I hope you keep doing what makes you happy forever <3 love you!
Tumblr media
Jungwon wasn’t the best with gifts. No matter who it was, he always felt like he came up short. But it was your birthday this time, and he couldn’t mess it up.
Even after dating you for a full 2 years and 4 months, giving you gifts were still as hard as ever. But this time Jungwon had a gut feeling that this might just be it.
He knew you liked to keep your birthday simple, going about it as if it was a normal day. The day was a Friday, perfect for his plan. He had your schedule memorised.
You had work until 1:30 and you’d get off at 1:45 and go for lunch with your family until around 4 and come back to the apartment you shared with your 2 other roommates by 4:30.
Jungwon planned it all out. He had begged and pleaded your roommates for weeks for this. And finally made them crack 9 days earlier.
He picked up the gift an hour and a half before seeing you at your apartment, and as he arrived he knew you weren’t back yet, eyes scanning around praying he doesn’t find your shoes.
Using the key you guys kept under the soil of the potted plant, Jungwon let himself in, setting his perfect surprise up.
And cue exactly as he planned, the jingling of your keys alerted him to hide your gift.
‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!!!’ Jungwon yelled, startling you.
Your now wide eyes take in the sight before you, Jungwon’s dimples adorning his face, eyes sparkling as he smiled. A small banner hung above his with the words ‘happy birthday’ and a beautiful flower bouquet rested inside a vase on the coffee table. But your eyes were glued to his face, Jungwon’s radiant smile more beautiful than anything.
A giggle escapes your mouth, running over to hug him.
‘Thank you Wonnie,’ you whispered into his chest. ‘That’s not all, come sit.’ Jungwon places you gently on the couch before disappearing into the kitchen.
He comes back with his arms full. It takes you a second to realise that it was a kitten, a small calico with wide eyes.
‘You… got me a cat? Won, I love you and I love cats, but you know I’m not allowed to have pets in this apartment.’ Your heart broke as you muttered those words, wishing you could just hide away this cute fur ball with you.
‘I. Not exactly. Y/n. I love you. I love you so much, that if I had a dollar for every time I thought about you, I’d have only 1, because you’re on my mind every single moment I breathe. I think about you when I wake up and when I go to sleep, and I wish I didn’t have to just think about you. I want to see you when I leave in the morning and when I come back from work. I want you to be the first and last person I see every single day.’
Your breath hitched, eyes glossing over as you waited for him to continue. His hands find yours, fingers intertwining.
‘I found a good apartment with reasonable rent considering we both have stable jobs. I’m bad at gifts, but I think even if it’s selfish, this may just be the best gift. I hope you accept this cat and house… Y/n, will you move in with me?’
You squeeze his hands, tears starting to fall. ‘Oh my lovely Won… yes, yes I will.’ If it was even possible, Jungwon’s smile grew wider. His lips captured yours in a sweet kiss, a one that shows you truly how happy he was.
‘I can’t wait to wake up with you by my side everyday my love.’

Tumblr media
Placing your head against the window of the royal carriage that transported you from your castle, all the way to Dragonstone, your eyes were fervidly fixed on the view. Soon, the sight was filled with the constantly moving ocean waves, indicating you were nearly arriving to your destination.
A weary sigh escaped your lips. You knew this day would, sooner or later, come. The day you would get betrothed to some Prince under the excuse of making House alliances stronger, and more united; even, you would have to produce heirs. The sole thought of it twisted your stomach, even if you tried comforting yourself with the way your parents spoke regarding the eldest son of Rhaenyra Targaryen: Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, your chosen betrothed, and future Lord Husband.
“(y/n),” your father, whom sat by your side throughout all the journey, finally spoke. The cold silence was broken, causing you to turn your gaze towards him, especially at the feeling of his warm hand being placed on your shoulder. “I know, you are not fond of the idea of betrothing,” he began, noticing the straight line your lips were formed into, not satisfied. “But I can assure you, Prince Jacaerys will be an excellent Husband. He is of a gentle nature, caring, and exceptionally intelligent.”
His words weren't enough to satisfy you. Of course, you knew that if your father said such things, he was certain about his statements. However, nothing could change your mind about being forced to leave your home, and marry a Prince or Lord for a mere political convenience.
“Jacaerys will treat you rightfully, and will be certainly delighted to have you as his betrothed. Just wait, and see.” your father finished, as the Royal Carriage suddenly stopped in it's movements. Without replying, you nodded in agreement, trying to keep his wise words in mind.
As you had reached Dragonstone, your family and yourself stepped down from the carriages, being greeted by several guards, and of course, none other than Princess Rhaenyra herself. Her platinum hair vividly shone under the dazzling rays of sun, flowing along the smooth, and cool breeze. A sweet, polite grin was formed on her rosy lips. Curtsying down to her briefly, she kindly welcomed you to Dragonstone Castle.
“Princess Rhaenyra, thank you for the warm welcome. We are truly honoured.” your father tenderly spoke, after curtsying at her. Rhaenyra gave him a single head bow in response, noticing he'd continue speaking. “This is my daughter, Princess (y/n).” introducing you as your Lord Father placed his hand on your shoulder, a shy, yet wide smile couldn't help but appear on your lips, bowing down your head.
“Hello, Princess (y/n). You are as lovely as I imagined you'd be, sweet girl!” Rhaenyra kindly complimented you, placing her delicate hand on your other shoulder. “Jace will be delighted to finally meet you. Come, follow me.” her words were warm, and caring. She seemed like a genuinely tender person, which brought some relief to you, in a way. Without hesitating for a second, as soon as Rhaenyra began walking towards the inside of Dragonstone with her hand remaining on your shoulder, you hastily began following her; some royal guards escolting from behind as well.
The rocky structure of Dragonstone was impressive. Your gaze ascended to stare at the castle, mesmerised with pure thrill. The inside of the castle was even more grand than it was on the outside; filled with dragon carved sculptures. A dumbfounded shy grin was seen on your lips, as you daintly walked across the grey corridors with Rhaenyra, and the members of your House.
Despite hearing her speaking about some political topics with your father as she guided you the way, your mind was truly focused on scanning the rooms, halls, and trying to understand how every part of Dragonstone was connected. After all, this would be your new home in a short while, and you had to know how to guide yourself through it.
Rhaenyra guided you to the main hall, swiftly opening the doors. Your eyes rapidly were fixed on the dimly lit main hall, encountering two brunette haired boys. “Jace, House (L/N) has arrived.” interrupting herself from her conversation with your family, whom followed her from behind, she caught the attention of one of the boys. He was tall, his hair brunette and a bit long, slightly messy.
The eldest Prince shot his stare from the shorter boy, that must've been his brother, to his mother, noticing the visitors. It seemed that they were both awaiting for the arrival of your House to Dragonstone. His coffee coloured eyes were placed on you, and a wide, polite smile rapidly drew on his lips. At the feeling of his intense, yet delicate gaze, your heart briefly skipped a beat; discreetly beginning to nibble on your lower lip as he leisurely approached both you, and his mother.
Jace, he was your betrothed.
The idea of being betrothed suddenly didn't seem so bad. The kind hearted, soft stare on his eyes seemed to be genuine, and his movements were daint, proper of a true gentleman. As he stood in front of you, he politely bowed. “(y/n), is it?” he inquired, eagerly. His personality seemed to be uplifting, and enthusiastic. A slight tint of red formed on your cheeks, as he carefully took one of your hands, raising it to his lips, and placing a kiss on your knuckles. Truly, you were lost of speech at how drastically different he was from how you imagined him. But, in a good way, of course.
“Y-Yes! (y/n), of House (l/n). An honour to meet you, Jacaerys.” you greeted kindly, trying not to goofily grin, nor stammer. “An honour to meet you as well, (y/n). It's lovely to have you here, finally.” he retorted. Rhaenyra, noticing the sweet interaction, widely smiled as well. “I'm glad you're already getting along together.” she began speaking, as you now fixed your attention on her while Jace slowly let go of your hand. “You should also meet my secondborn son, Lucerys.” seeing her blue eyes dart towards the centre of the main hall, you did the same, noticing the other boy shyly standing there, awkwardly staring the interaction.
“Come.” Rhaenyra mouthed quietly, gesturing Lucerys to approach you. A bit hesitatingly, the young Velaryon walked slowly towards you, with his eyes looking down at the floor out of embarrassment; a notorious, wide crimson fluster stained his delicate cheeks. Truth was, you seemed too pretty for him to even act normally, without feeling like he'd faint of nervousness.
“H-Hello, (y/n). N-Nice to meet you.” lucerys stammered, managing to make eye contact with you for the first time. His eyes were shiny hazel, and they were completely precious. The soft blush on his face matched with his sligtly curly, dark hair, and his green eyes. His way of being was as gentle as his brother's, but shyer. You gave him a single head bow as a broad, kind grin was placed on you, allowing Lucerys to take your hand with his trembling one, and raise it to his lips; mimicking his brother's actions of politely kissing it.
“Hello, Lucerys.” you greeted back warmly. The entire time his lips were daintly placed on your knuckles as to kiss them, his green eyes would not leave you. You had delicate and soft manners, beauteous features, silky hair, a special glint on your (e/c) eyes, and a heartwarming smile. Gods, Lucerys couldn't help but think his brother Jacaerys was lucky for having you as his betrothed.
Even if being betrothed and politely kind to each other didn't exactly mean you'd genuinely be in love with one another, Luke still felt a scintilla of jealousy at the thought of you being Jace's future Lady Wife. You were true grace, a sight to behold.
Lucerys let go of your hand, then placing both his hands behind his back in a shy manner, gazing down at the floor as he could feel your stare still being posed on him. Of course, you couldn't help but find his awkwardly timid, quiet persona rather adorable, making the previous broad smile on your lips stay there with you. Rhaenyra seemed to be joyful of the interactions going well, so far.
“Good. Now, allow me to show you the rest of the castle, my dear. You have time to properly bond with each other later.” Rhaenyra spoke, once she finished introducing you to Jacaerys, your betrothed, and his brother Lucerys. Your attention went to her, and you delightfully nodded at her, grinning. Both boys stood there, smiling back, as you rapidly waved at them.
“See you later, boys.” you greeted, eyeing them one last time before turning your back, and leaving with their mother to meet the rest of the castle. A wide grin was drawn all over your lips, a bit delightfully overwhelmed with the presence of Jacaerys, your betrothed. You would've never guessed you'd be even than more joyful to finally marry, and here you were; counting the days until your official wedding ceremony with the future King.
Both Velaryon boys stared at you leave in silence. A quiet, disappointed sigh escaped from Lucerys. You seemed too much of a true kind soul, warmhearted, and lovingly sweet, plus, it was rather notorious by now that you were already mesmerised by Jacaerys' gentle nature. Jace was truly blessed by the Seven to have your full attention, and have you as his betrothed; but Luke was aware, his brother couldn't see, or even think, about how fortunate he was.
Tumblr media
After a long day of walking around the castle and being guided through it, you were finally free to take all the liberty you desire, and stroll through it as much as you wanted. The birds chirped loudly on the outside, and the skies were becoming a blend of rich orange, and a variety of different shades of pink.
Your family would be staying for dinner that night. Meanwhile, they discussed some political strategies and the very own meaning of finally joining alliances with your betrothal, and you yourself, decided to explore a bit further the vast gardens of Dragonstone. You took your time to imagine how your future would be in Dragonstone, and wondering what your betrothed thought about having you as his future Lady Wife. The mere thought of having to marry Jacaerys — whom you found very gentle and sweet — made your heart pound fast against your chest, a tint of scarlet glistening on your cheeks.
The blooming flowers seemed to have particularly bright, eye catching colours. The gardens contained all types of flowers, of every colour. Blue, light blue, crimson, lavender coloured, white — whatever colour you could think of for a flower, you would see it on the gardens of Dragonstone. Such sight was graceful to behold, and rather tranquil.
With the tip of your finger, you delicately caressed a petal from a flower you took, and held on your hand. Your eyes were fixed on it, admiring the blend of red and crimson colours it contained. Twirling it gently as you held it with your fingers, you occasionally brought it to your nostrils, taking in the sweet scent the flower contained.
“Princess (y/n),” you heard a soft, familiar voice coming from behind of you. Apparently, you weren't the only one spending time in the gardens, much to your surprise. Rapidly, you turned your body around to look at whomever had spoken as you still held the flower in a daint manner, only to encounter yourself with Prince Lucerys. A tender smile was formed on your lips, as you briefly bowed before him. “Prince Lucerys,” you greeted back.
“It's nice to see you around here.” you retorted, playfully twirling the flower that remained on your hands. “Indeed. It's nice seeing you here as well.” his footsteps were light as he approached you, his hands behind his back, and his hazel eyes explored the recently bloomed flowers. You could tell by his low, gentle tone and way of being in general, he was rather timid. But, Lucerys seemed loving.
“How are you enjoying your time here in Dragonstone so far?” he inquired, taking a flower from it's stem, and mimicking your actions of twirling it. “Better than I imagined, for certain.” you replied, ascending your gaze from the flower, to his green eyes. A quiet scoff escaped from Luke's lips, guiding his eyes to gaze back at you.
“It's a pleasure to hear that. But, you thought you wouldn't like it in here?” Luke continued inquiring, leisurely walking closer to you, with genuine curiousity. You quietly chuckled, looking down at the flower. “Well, I have always been rather afraid of becoming betrothed.” you began speaking. Lucerys attentively listened, slightly tilting his head to his side as you spoke. “And my idea of being betrothed was leaving your very own home, just to go to another castle and be stuck in an unhappy marriage...” unconsciously, your head shook itself, with a grin on your lips as you admired the flower.
“But, when I met your brother... My betrothed, I realised how wrong I was.” luke nodded in agreement, seeing how joyful you were at the thought of marrying his elder brother, as you lifted your gaze towards him. “I understand.” was all Luke replied, placing his hands from behind, still holding a little flower he had taken. His face seemed serious, but he tried to be notoriously happy at your own content.
“I can only hope all goes well in your marriage. I can see you're already head over heels for my brother, are you not?” Lucerys asked, finally showing his hands from behind his back, extending the lily-coloured flower he held to you. “And welcome to the family, as well. We are all delighted to have you here, truly.” as he softly, yet vehemently spoke, you curiously looked at the flower he extended to you, gently taking it from him with a broad, genuine grin.
“Thank you, Lucerys.” you whispered, looking into his eyes. A dumbfounded, silly little grin was plastered all over your daint lips, accompanied by an intense scarlet fluster that took over your cheeks, rapidly spreading throughout your entire face. “Is it too obvious, that I already fell for your brother?” as you spoke to him, you gently analysed the pretty little flower he gave you. A timid smile crept on his lips, briefly gazing down at the ground. “It's stupid, is it not? I just met him, I cannot be already in love with him...” you mumbled, raising your stare at him. “But, the way he spoke to me, treated me, and... simply, stared at me, already made me feel special. I already fell hard for how gentle Jace was with me.” in response, Luke gave you an understanding nod, with a slight smile.
The words that spurred out of your lips seemed genuine, purely in love with the eldest of the Velaryons. Lucerys couldn't blame you, Jace knew how to properly treat a lady and make her feel special with his gentleman way of being. Though, it was hard. Lucerys knew his brother Jacaerys rather well, and he was aware his attention was mostly centred on Lady Baela Targaryen — but Luke hoped, Jace took a liking for you once you properly met each other.
“Stupid? Why would it be stupid, my Lady?” shaking his head, the previous smile continued to creep on his soft lips. The sight of you already being dumbfounded in love with his brother was adorable, yet unbeknownst to you, unfortunate. “It's normal to feel such way, especially when someone makes you feel special. It's everything, except stupid.” the Princeling approached you even closer, with one of his hands hiding behind his back, and offering you his arm. “You can trust on me to talk about whatever you need. I promise, I would never judge.” hesitatingly, you stared in silence at his arm for a few seconds, until you finally decided to ring your arm around his.
As soon as you looped your own arm around the one he offered to you, Lucerys started to gently stroll with you through the gardens. The shy, wide smile on your own lips never washed away from your delicate facial expressions. “Thank you, Lucerys. Deeply.” you retorted, walking side by side with the young Velaryon. “You are right. I was afraid it might sound slightly dumb to say I'm already in love with your brother, but I suppose not anymore.” a clear expression of content and relief washed on your face, and Luke could notice it.
“I have not even properly met your brother yet, but there's something in him that... Caught my attention.” you continued, making a short pause in the middle of your speech, trying to find the proper words for your feelings. “I could even feel butterflies fluttering on my stomach at the sight of Jacaerys! Could you believe that?” suddenly darting your eyes towards Luke, you noticed he was already staring at you with a broad, ear-to-ear smile on his lips. “I can believe that. Love at first sight does indeed exist, my Lady.” he responded, gazing down at the floor grinning to himself. Truly, the way you were so keen for your betrothal and expressed yourself regarding your recently discovered feelings for Jacaerys were endearing.
“If you're already in love with him, then you will love him more when you get the chance of getting to know him better, and the moment he officially becomes your Lord Husband.” his words were genuinely sweet, his voice having a dulcet tone to it. Lucerys' hazel eyes remained on the ground as he took you for a walk around the garden, noticing how enthusiastic you were of the vast amount of flowers in plain sight. The boy, now being aware of your charming personality and kindhearted self, had profound hopes that his brother's true feelings for Lady Baela would pass once he meets you, and you become his dear Wife.
The words he previously said resonated through your head. “Love at first sight, yes.” you repeated lowly to yourself. “That's what I felt. Love at first sight.” Luke turned his eyes at you, nodding in response, in a warm manner. As you both kept strolling through the sweet-scented gardens arm-in-arm together, exploring the recently bloomed flowers and admiring them, the birds leisurely stopped chirping; leaving place for the quiet noise of the crickets appearing.
“I have never thought I'd be this contented for a betrothal. But seeing the way you warmly received my House was quite a relief.” a breathless chuckle spurred from Luke's lip at your statement, making some dimples appear on his delicate face. “Of course, there is no need to thank us. You are part of our family now, and you should feel comfortable.” he retorted, speaking lowly as ever.
Lifting your sight to the sky as Lucerys responded to your statements, you realised that the previous blend of vivid shades of pink and oranges were leisurely turning into dark blue, almost dark colours. Some stars began shining on the dark-blue coloured sky, indicating that soon would be nighttime, and of course, time to assist to the organised dinner for your betrothal.
“Oh, look.” you signaled. Luke mimicked your actions, staring at the sky along with you. “It's getting dark, no? I think we should prepare ourselves for dinner.” in response, Lucerys nodded immediatly, agreeing wholeheartedly with you. Your arm slowly unlooped from his own, and you began making your own way towards the inside of the grand Dragonstone castle. “Thank you for the small chat, Lucerys.” you thanked him honestly, vastly smiling, as he followed you back inside the castle from behind. “It was a true relief. And, it is even more of a big relief to have you as my brother-in-law.” Lucerys couldn't help but stupidly grin at your words, grateful that he was of some help regarding the uncertainty of your feelings.
Timidly, still holding the two flowers you picked from the garden, you leaned closer to him, and placed a daint kiss on his warm, rosy cheek. “Meet you at dinner, Lucerys.” briefly, you kindly bowed your head down to him in gratitude, and rapidly turned around to hastily walk across the corridors of Dragonstone and reach your chambers as to change into even more formal clothing for dinner; leaving a surprised Lucerys standing there, staring at you leave.
A wide smile formed on his lips, accompanied by a light rosy blushing on his cheeks. Even if you had just met one another in a brief manner, with a small talk and a nice stroll together, Lucerys already thought of you as one of the flowers in the garden: soft, delicate, and daint. His fondness for you already grew on his chest, noticing how much of a sweet, kind, and pure soul you were, and he was keen in getting to talk to you more now that you were soon to marry his brother, Jacaerys.
All he most deeply hoped, is that, knowing his brother's true feelings for another woman, your heart wouldn't be quick to shatter.

It's too late
He watched her from where he sat hidden in the corner in a privacy booth that obscured any sight or sound within. She, in turn, sat at an intimate two-top near the center of the room. Her laugh drifted his direction tinkling with cutlery against plates and the calming plinks of the live pianist.
Theo Nott—old friend, confidant, traitor—beamed at the pleasure of her joy, hand reaching out to intertwine with her own.
It should have been Draco holding her hand and making her laugh. It had been Draco in that exact role not two months ago. He had been the full recipient of her gaze and her touch and her gasps and her sighs. She had been the one to remind him of the warmth in the sun, the sweet smell of morning rain, the power of a fleeting touch of skin against skin. She taught him to live life for the experience of it again, an outlook he had forgotten back in the early days of Hogwarts before the unbearable weight of his name. Her influence on him was slow and steady—one day the world was grey, then the next he looked out at the coastline and appreciated the sunrise for the promise it brought rather than the dread he’d long expected.
And despite everything Hermione had given him, he failed her.
Five years of friendship and more than friendship, and not once did he take the next step. Nobody knew about them, not his friends, not his family. And for what? A fear that she wouldn’t fit in? Wouldn’t understand why he needed his family name and all the power that came with it even after all they had lost?
He turned down her invitations to public dinners, parties, and weddings. He only took her out to muggle locations where nobody would recognize them. He told himself he did this for her, because he didn’t deserve her and didn’t want to ruin her reputation.
The truth was that he was a coward and always had been.
When his mother told him it was time to pick a wife and take on his responsibilities as head of household, he didn’t argue, didn’t tell her about them. He didn’t hesitate to tell Hermione. It hurt, yes. He even cried a bit. But he still went through with the decision and ended their relationship that wasn’t quite a relationship.
She just smiled and wished him well.
Now here she was, sitting at a table with his childhood friend, a man with just as much responsibility and expectations to his name. It burned Draco to see Theo toss the chains aside as if they weighed nothing, as if there wouldn’t be any repercussions. He dared to look happy. His eyes relayed his feelings openly in a way no proper Pureblood should—he looked at Hermione like she made him the luckiest bloke in the world.
Draco sat at his table long after the couple left, Theo’s arm draped loosely around her waist as if it belonged there. They had ignored the stares and whispers, wholly immersed in each other. He imagined Theo inviting her home for a drink as a precursor to…more. Her hair on his pillow, his body cradled between her legs. Draco imagined it all because he had lived it all.
When he finally walked out past her chair, he noticed a familiar scarf draped across its back. Picking it up, he didn’t even consider handing it to the maitre d’ for her to retrieve later.  He walked straight outside with the silver silk he’d gifted her two Christmases past clutched tightly in his hand. He’d take it home with him, a hollow reminder of all he had lost. The scarf smelled just as he remembered her, all warm spices and parchment paper. He felt as forgotten as the flimsy bit of cloth he held.
He disapparated just as Hermione reappeared around the corner and ran forward, his name on her lips a second too late.
“Was that Draco with your scarf?” Theo followed at a casual stroll behind her, hands tucked into his pockets.
“I believe so. I don’t know why he’d take it with him.”
His laugh at her statement caught her attention and she turned an inquiring look his way.
“That’s just Draco. He doesn’t know how to be happy. He’ll keep your scarf, but deny having it or that it belongs to you if anyone asks.”
As much as she hated to hear it, she knew Theo was right. His frank observations were a large part of what drew her to him in the first place. He didn’t hide truths, as uncomfortable as they could often be. More importantly, he didn’t hide her and their burgeoning relationship.
“I just really liked that one,” she sighed.
Theo stepped closer, tugging off his own wool scarf and wrapping it around her shoulders. “You can have mine.”
She buried her nose in the deep blue fabric that matched his eyes and inhaled deeply. “Why does it smell like coffee?”
“I might have spilled some and neglected to clean it,” he replied with a sheepish grin. “Let me scourgify it for you.”
Hermione danced backwards as he made to lift the scarf away. “I happen to like coffee, Theo Nott.” Her eyes sparkled up at him as she looped the wool once more around her neck.
Their backs to the restaurant, they resumed their plans for the evening. For once, Draco Malfoy had guessed right. The two drank, delighted in further conversation, and retired to bed together—silver scarves and eyes thoroughly forgotten.
WC 932 Okay, so I was feeling angsty and a little thirsty for some other Slytherins. Sorry, not sorry!

If This Was A Movie/How You Get The Girl
PAIRING: Kenny McCormick x Reader
SUMMARY: “And that’s how it works. That’s how you got the girl.”
GENRE: Fluff.
WARNINGS: None that I’m aware of.
WORD COUNT: 2.6k words
Tumblr media
Act 1: If This Was A Movie
“Dude, you like Y/n?” Kenny locked his phone after hearing Kyle’s question. He thought no one could see his screen, but not everything could go as he wished. Kenny quickly hid his phone, but he knew it was already late.
“Who’s Y/n?” Clyde asked, wanting to know what Kyle and Kenny were talking about.
“A girl who was our friend for what? Eight years?” Kenny only nodded. Clyde returned his attention to the screen in front of him. Kyle asked again at his lack of response, but this time in a lower tone so Clyde wouldn’t listen.
“Kenny, do you like her?”
“I dunno…” Kenny sighed. He really didn’t know. He may have seen you as a potential partner, but that was when you were 15. Now that he was 22, he felt more confused than when he was a teenager. “It’s just that recently I can’t get her out of my mind. A few days ago, I saw her with her parents walking down the street, and… God, she looked so pretty. I mean, she was already beautiful back in the day. But she looked more mature. And also, she’s been more active on her insta, and she seems so happy. There’s something about her smile that messes up with my head.”
“Dude, you do like her!”
“Fuck” the realization was something Kenny was trying to evade at any cost. It’s not that he hated the idea of you two dating. He’s scared, mainly because you’ve barely talked for years. What if you didn’t like him? How could he like someone he hardly has spoken to? “What am I gonna do, Kyle?”
“You have to do something, Ken.” Kyle could see how his best friend was scared. But maybe this was what Kenny had needed after so long, you. He knew something had changed within Kenny the moment you stopped talking, and seeing Kenny finally be honest with his feelings was refreshing to Kyle.
“Like what? What if she’s not interested? I mean, look at her. Someone like her definitely has people going after her.”
“I mean, yeah, she’s prettier than before… Answer this. Has she uploaded something regarding a potential partner or something along those lines?” Kyle asked.
“Well, not really. It’s always her friends or family. Not a single guy in sight.”
“There you go. Instead of pouting and looking at your phone screen. Do something about those feelings.”
Tumblr media
“I think I like him, Wendy,” you confessed to your best friend.
“Who?”
“Kenny.” you heard a scream come out of your phone speaker, making you move your phone away from you.
“I KNEW IT. OMG. SINCE WHEN?”
“I think I figured it out a few weeks ago. I mean, he uploaded a photo of him in the gym, and god, he looks so fucking handsome. After that, I started to remember all the times we were together and how sweet he was. I know I tend to lie to myself, saying we were only friends back in the day, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I liked him back in high school.” you said worriedly.
“Why the tone? You should be happy you are finally being honest with yourself and admitting your feelings towards him.”
“I don’t know, Wen. Do you realize we haven’t talked in years? What if he doesn’t like me now? Hell, I don’t even know if I liked him back in the day. Now that the years have passed, how am I supposed to do something about my feelings? I think the best I can do right now is forget how I feel and see if it helps.”
“No. Sorry, but I’m not letting you suppress your feelings just because you are scared. We’ve never talked about Kenny properly, but now that the topic’s here, I want to know how you felt when he was your friend?” you sighed and started remembering everything.
“Well, He was protective over me. He always made sure I was ok and made me feel happy whenever I was feeling down. I remember the first time I saw him. It was second grade. He was so cute. I knew I liked him, even if, back in the day, I didn’t really understand what “liking” felt. I just knew it. But, of course, nothing happened. There was this one girl who told our teacher we were passing on notes, and we got in trouble. Fortunately, Kenny was smart and broke the notes into little pieces. We just had to make up a story regarding the legible words on the remaining pieces.” you smiled at the memory. “After that, I believe we had this mutual and unsaid agreement just to stop whatever we had going on. That’s why after that, we became best friends.”
“Why you never told me about that?”
“Well, it’s not like I remember every single memory with Kenny, you know? I remember that because it was the moment I knew nothing would happen between us.”
“But just because of that, you stopped liking him?”
“Wendy, I got in trouble for that. My mom never bought whatever lie Kenny and I came up with. She knew better. Wen, one of the pieces, literally had the word “love.”
“WHAT?” Wendy shouted once again, making you close your eyes.
“Wen, I swear to god you’re gonna leave me deaf if you keep shouting like that.”
“Sorry, sorry. But care to explain the “love” part, please?” you sighed. You never told this to anyone. You thought it was going to be something you took to your grave.
“He told me he loved me” You knew what was coming next, so you removed your ear from the speaker.
“MY GOD!!! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! OMG OMG OMG.” You smiled at your friend’s excitement.
“I know!”
“But at that age, he knew what love was?” Wendy questioned.
“I guess so. At that moment, I just smiled at the confession, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized those were some strong feelings right there.”
“God, you do have a history with him… Now I understand why you keep thinking about him after all these years. He was basically your first love.”
“You think that?”
“Duh. It’s more than obvious.” That was something you didn’t like to hear. It confirmed your worst fear of all. He was something more than just your childhood friend. And Wendy was right. Kenny was someone who you couldn’t just forget that easily, not after he was your friend for years. “The more I hear about the two of you, the more I realize you are meant to be together. And now we have to make a plan for that to happen.”
Tumblr media
“Can you just answer that damn story? You’ve watched it at least 15 times Kenny” Karen sighed tiredly.
“What if it’s not for me?”
“Of course, it’s for you, you dumb….”
“Hey!”
“I’m sorry, it’s just… I’ve known the two of you literally since I was born, and Y/n obviously likes you back. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t post everything she wants to do until she has a boyfriend for you to see.”
“What if it’s for another guy” Karen closed her eyes and counted to 10.
“Ok, first of all, is it just a normal insta story for everyone to see, or is it a “close friends” story?”
“Close friends”
“Great! Then you have your answer.”
“But what if she just forgot to remove me from her close friends?” Kenny felt really troubled. He was so in love with you, but he didn’t dare to be direct and say it to you. He’s been so heartbroken and lost so much in his life. He doesn’t want to lose again now that he has you back in his life. He preferred to have you as only his friend than to confess and lose you if you didn’t feel the same.
“Kenny, since when are you this scared of confessing to a girl?”
“Since it’s Y/n of who we are talking about.”
Tumblr media
WENDY: Did he see it?
Y/N: Yeah
WENDY: And…?
Y/N: He didn’t answer to it.
WENDY: Ugh, I thought it was gonna work
Y/N: Me too
WENDY: I just don’t understand. He obviously likes you back
Y/N: Look, we just came to that conclusion from his CF stories. What if they were meant for someone else? And there’s also the fact that we just started talking after so many years of going no contact with each other. What if I just misunderstood everything?
WENDY: Don’t you even dare to begin overthinking about this. Wasn’t he the one who just posted, “If I added you to my CF, obviously I want to make out with you.” That was your opportunity to answer that story!
Y/N: I know, ugh, why am I like this? I don’t wanna blow it up. Not that he’s back in my life
WENDY: I know it was hard to have him back as your friend after so long. But it’s so obvious he likes you back.
Y/N: Who am I even kidding? I know, and I really like him too. I’m running out of ideas to make him confess, Wen.
WENDY: I just know the two of you are gonna be together. He’s just stupid and dumb and way too shy for his good, and it doesn’t help you are just like him.
Y/N: I’m gonna ignore that.
WENDY: You were made for each other.
Y/N: I swear to god...
WENDY: But on a serious note. From what you’ve told me, he’s a nice guy, yeah, horny, but you’re just as horny as him. And he seems sweet and polite when it comes to you. I know you are scared, but imagine how he’s feeling. I’m pretty sure he’s as frightened as you are. You told me you were the best of friends before you stopped talking.
Y/N: True, but what if he sees me only as his childhood best friend?
WENDY: Yeah, right. You don’t post about wanting to cuddle and kiss and do all the unimaginable to the person you like for your childhood best friend to see. He wants you as more.
Y/N: I don’t wanna get my hopes high, Wen. Not with him. I can’t lose him again.
WENDY: Think about it this way. Would you like to take the risk and be honest with him knowing he’s gonna say yes? Or never tell him how you feel and regret that decision for the rest of your life?
Tumblr media
Act 2: How You Get The Girl
“Where are you going?”
“To see Y/n, I’m going to tell her how I feel.”
“Wow, hold your horse Kenny. First of all, I’m glad you finally made a positive decision in your entire life, but it’s raining. What are you going to do? Stand outside in the rain until she comes out, or what?”
“That would be pretty romantic, don’t you think?” Kenny smirked, putting on his sweatshirt.
“Yeah, and also pretty stupid, in my opinion.”
“She posted this story about cuddling while it’s raining, and as you said, it was meant for me. I’m going to her house.” Karen never saw her brother this determined. She knew nothing was going to stop him.
“You’re gonna get sick, Ken.”
"I don't care. I just want her by my side." Kenny said as he was exiting his house.
A million scenarios crossed Kenny’s mind. What if he just misunderstood the whole situation? A fear crept on the back of his neck. He was starting to get anxious. What if you did think he was insane to just confess out of nowhere? When he least expected it, he was at your front door. This was it. Now or never, Kenny thought. He knocked three times.
You heard the knocking from your bedroom. You really didn’t want to open the door. But your parents were out, and you knew your mother was waiting for packages, still when you thought about it, no one in their right state of mind would deliver while it was raining outside. More to your dismay, you got up, and you were glad you did.
“Are you insane, Kenny?!”
“Hi,” Kenny smiled at you, making your heart stop. God, you missed that smile.
“What are you doing here?” Kenny gulped at your question. He needed to take all the courage he had.
You felt your heart in your ears. You’ve only dreamt of this moment, but he was here. This wasn’t your dream.
“I… I want you. I don’t care about what happened between us in the past, and for the first time in my life, I’m more than sure I want you for worse or for better. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for years, and I’ve missed you so much. I know we started to drift apart, but I know things happen for a reason, and whatever I’ve done led me right here. You may not feel the same, or maybe you do. I just know I would wait for you all my life until you’re mine.”
You smiled. You felt your heart wanting to get out of your chest. Droplets of rain started to fall from Kenny’s hair, and that was when you realized he was still standing in the rain. You quickly extended your hand to him, and when he took it, you made him enter your house.
“You’re soaking wet. You need to change your clothes as soon as possible. If not, you will get sick. Come in.” You started to go to the bathroom, but Kenny grabbed your hand, stopping you. He turned you around, pulling you closer to him. You didn’t say anything, only looked at him in those beautiful eyes. Kenny started soaking your clothes, but right now, you have more important things to worry or be excited about.
“You’re not going to say anything?” he grabbed one of your cheeks and whispered, getting closer to you.
“Like what? Like how that was the most romantic but crazy moment I’ve had? Like how many times I’ve waited for something like this to happen? Or maybe I could say how I would also wait for you my entire life… Does that please you?” you whispered. He was so close to your face. You could feel his lips ghosting yours.
“You’re gonna get sick if you don’t shower and change your clothes, Ken.”
“I couldn’t care less.” his other hand grabbed your other cheek, cupping your face. You gulped as you saw Kenny lick his lips.
“Are you just gonna do something or-” Kenny only smiled and gave you a quick kiss on the lips. Even if it was short, you still felt his lips lingering. You didn’t move, nor did he. It was as if the two of you wanted to remember this moment perfectly. The two of you just stayed there, smiling, standing like two idiots in love. Which you were.
“Wanna change and cuddle?” you asked him.
“So it was for me to see,” he smirked.
“Of course it was. You’re the only one that can see my CF stories. Well, Wendy can also see them, but she’s my best friend….” you saw Kenny with the biggest smile. It was like he just needed to hear that. And he did. He took a leap of faith, risking everything, and he was euphoric to know you also felt the same for him.
“Do you, maybe, want to be my girlfriend?”
“Yes. I would love to.” You wrapped your arms around Kenny’s neck, pulling him for another kiss. This time a longer and more passionate kiss. You’ve finally got the person you love the most back. And it was amazing.

Pure (Ominis Gaunt x f!OC)
910 word count
Warnings: Family Issues.
I keep seeing posts about how Ominis has been recorded as deceased before 1925 without any sons or daughters and it got me thinking.
So, I decided to write a little something explaining why his continuation on the Gaunt family tree ceased.
I hope you enjoy my own version of events <3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
While it was true that Ominis hadn’t heard from his family in years, in fact he had heard nothing from or about the Gaunt family. For all he knew, they could actually be dead. Noctua never had the chance to bring life into the world, perhaps he should honour her by making the introduction to his father and mother. Perhaps his wife was right. Perhaps they have ceased their insufferable ideals on the world.
Dear Father & Mother,
It has been an age since we last spoke. I know that you did not understand my need for distance, however I have some news to share with you that I believe you are owed. My beautiful wife and I have been blessed with a baby girl and as grandparents, my wife convinced me to notify you. It is the proper thing to do.
If you wish to meet her I implore that you leave our family traits behind, that you do not impose such ridiculous notions of purity and power on my family. I will meet with you first, alone, to ensure you do not harness any ill intentions.
Name the date and place.
Regards,
Ominis.
Ominis sat on a cold mossy stone, awaiting his parents arrival at the spot they had proposed. Footsteps shuffled and crunched on nearby leaves. He would recognise those pairs of footsteps anywhere. It would always send a sharp shiver down his spine.
“Mother, Father. Good of you to come.”
“Ominis, we need to speak. We have been doing some research on your wife. I do not think you know what you have done. What this could mean for our family.” Mrs Gaunt began
“What do you mean?” Ominis tilted his head, was his wife in danger of some sort?
“We cannot trace her parents. We do not know if she is pure.” Mr Gaunt stated.
“Are you serious?” his jaw clenched. They had not come to make amends, to be grandparents to his sweet daughter. How could he even entertain such a thought. They were Gaunts. Why did he think they might have changed?
“We left you alone because we thought you might come to see that our way of living is the right way. That you might finally see those people for what they are, filth.”
“That is why you left me alone? Well, you must be sorely disappointed” Ominis smirked.
“We didn’t receive a wedding invitation, Ominis. If we cannot trace her parents, then you mustn’t know her lineage. She could be a filthy mudblood!” Mrs Gaunt tapped her foot against the cold stone.
“How dare you insult my wife. This is precisely why you were not invited to our wedding.” Ominis snapped
Mrs Gaunt’s eye twitched as she pursed her lips.
“It was my wife who insisted that I see if you would make amends. Be part of the family. I have obviously been away from you for far too long because I actually listened to her! To think that you might have had some human decency!” Ominis turned to leave.
“If you continue to stay with her, with them, you are dead to us. There is no crawling back. I refuse to let you taint our family name with the birth of this abomination, as for your wife-.”
Ominis spun to face his parents.
“You don’t have to worry about that” he spat, “When she and I got married, I took her name. Our daughter has her name. I just thought you might want to meet your grandaughter. I thought there might still be an ounce of humanity left in you both. Thank you for proving me wrong.” With the flick of his wrist, Ominis disappeared from their sight.
***Ominis’ house***
Ominis arrived infront of their small cottage, anger radiating from him. Suddently a wall of warmth caressed his skin, followed by the familiar creak of the front door being opened.
“Ominis? How are you? How did it go?” She placed a hand on his shoulder, testing his emotions. Ominis immediately moved to embrace her, feeling a bundle of warmth hit his chest gently before he could move closer to his wife’s body. He lifted a hand to his daughter, who was now sandwiched between them both.
“I am sorry, my love. Our dearest Noctua shan’t have grandparents.” He stroked Noctua’s small silky tuft of hair on top of her soft head.
“That’s okay my dear. You tried. As long as we have each other, we are enough. More than enough” She leaned closer and gently kissed his forehead. Noctua looked up to her parents and babbled, confirming her mother’s declaration.
***The Gaunt House***
Shortly after arriving back to their manor.
“I’ll be in the study, should you need me.” Mr Gaunt told his wife as he left her in the hallway. She nodded and made her own way to the family library. Her eyes watered as she lifted a book to her lap.
“My dear, sweet Ominis. What have you done?” She pulled out her wand and allowed the book to flip open to their family tree. She started at the page briefly before muttering an incantation. She still wanted him on the family tree, before he distanced himself, before he made his choice.
“I shall remember you as you once were. This is how all the Gaunt’s will remember you. Pure” She put her wand back down, staring at his name and portrait on the page, solidified and unmoving. Deceased.

Sleepy prompts with Rhett! Number 19!!
“Stop fighting it. You need sleep.”
rhett was stubborn. some might even say he was as hardheaded as the bulls he rode. and they would be right in that assumption. as much as you loved him, with every fiber of your being, sometimes it was extremely difficult to reason with him. he didn't know when to stop. he had a tendency to work himself to the bone, solely because that was what he'd always done. he gave, and he gave, and he gave. until he had nothing left of himself to give. until he could hardly stand upright because his exhaustion was so overwhelming.
and it scared you, at times. it really did. especially now, with the added responsibility of building a house on top of everything else he was doing for his family back at the abbott ranch. you'd just recently purchased a plot of land together and had begun the process of building your dream home. he was overtaxing himself, trying to put in as many hours as he could at the ranch, while simultaneously putting his blood, sweat, and tears into your own home.
you could see the toll it was taking on him. dark circles under his eyes. a slump in his shoulders, tension in his jaw. and it wasn't just physical, either. it had begun to affect his demeanor. he was irritable and short-tempered. even with you. it festered, and festered, and festered, until you stepped into the line of fire, and he unintentionally blew up at you. and that was when you knew he was at his breaking point. in all the time you'd known him, rhett had never, ever raised his voice at you. not even when he was irritated.
but he lost it. his exhaustion got the better of him, and he shouted at you. "would you just quit?!" the very moment the words left his mouth, he wished he could take them back. your first reaction might've been to recoil, or reprimand him for talking to you in such a way. but you saw the painful regret darkening his face. he was going to beat himself up over this for a long, long time. so you swooped in before he could spiral.
"baby, i'm sor-" he started, but you shushed him. "you're exhausted," you spoke, stepping toward him, lifting a gentle hand to cup his cheek. "i know you'd never speak to me like that under normal circumstances. but these aren't normal circumstances. you're working yourself ragged, baby. and i can't bear to watch it any longer." he let his eyes drift shut, and when he spoke again, his voice wavered. "i...god, i'm so tired. 'm barely able to stand up straight right now." he sounded near tears.
"you're going back to bed," you told him. but he opened his eyes and began to protest. "but i-" he tried, but again, you shushed him. "it's time you stop fighting it. you need sleep. i'm calling your dad and telling him you can't come out today." he looked like he wanted to protest again, but he simply didn't have the strength. he swayed on his feet, and as you pulled him in to wrap your arms around him, he let out a soft, broken sound that resembled a whimper. "just want to sleep for a week straight."
"go and get into bed, sweet boy. i'll be there in a minute to tuck you in." you watched as he trudged back to the bedroom before you gave a call to his dad and informed him that rhett wouldn't be able to come to work. you left out the part where he was quite literally on the verge of passing out from exhaustion. after you made the call, you headed down the hall, only to find that your darling cowboy had collapsed into bed, boots still on, and was sound asleep.
your heart ached at the sight. "my poor baby," you whispered. you padded into the room and very carefully slipped his boots off. once those were off, you pulled the covers over him, and stooped to press a kiss to his temple. "sleep well, my love." and he finally got the rest he so desperately needed.
