top 10 favourite media (in no particular order):
- the office (tv)
idk it’s just entertaining and a great show to rewatch over and over again (not a jim fan tho tbh)
- heartstopper (tv)
i LOVE nick and charlie’s relationship, i find nick’s struggle with his sexuality relatable, i loved s2 imogen and i cant wait to see more of her (i think she’s a lesbian tbh), most of all, i love the representation it brings to younger queer kids, the kind i didn’t have and wish i did.
- thor: ragnarok (movie)
ICONIC. SO GOOD. FUNNY. LOKI!!!!!! TESSA THOMPSON!!!!! one of my favourite movies
- a simple favor (movie)
obsessed with blake lively!!! absolutely stunning and an amazing actress!!!! anna kendrick is too. just a lesbian obsessed with blake lively!!! also the plot?!???!!!!!!?!!! so fucking good!! one of my fave movies tbh
- bbc merlin (tv)

- red, white and royal blue (movie)
pls it’s so good i can’t even explain
- supergirl (tv)
honestly not even one of my favourites but i loved having a woman superhero!!!! even if the script sucked, especially in the later seasons (forced feminism and queerbaiting). at least there was lesbianism ig ??

- modern family (tv)
^see new girl^
- brooklyn nine-nine (tv)

I have been so bad at doing tag games, so apologies to anyone who tagged me over the last couple of weeks. I suck! But I’m back!
Thanks for not giving up on me and continuing to tag me @creepkinginc @energievie @stocious @depressedstressedlemonzest <3
Name: Michelle
First fandom you became a part of: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
(Oh boy! @katherynefromphilly’s answers reminded me that I was in a Robbie Williams fan club!! Even once travelled to Germany for a big fan club meet up!! Hahahahaha wow. Memory unlocked! 🤯)
What was the first TV show fandom you joined: BtVS
How old were you: 12 when I started watching the show. Found online forums and fandom at about… 15? 16? Around season 3 going into 4.
Latest TV/Movie fandom you became a part of? Shameless
A tv/movie fandom you haven’t joined but like to creep on? Erm… I think the Glee fandom was the only one where I watched every episode of the show, watched interviews of the cast, attended Darren Cross’ Elsie Fest in New York, read fic… and just wanted nothing to do with the fandom like AT ALL. hahaha. But mostly I’m a ‘dive in head first’ kind of person!
Your favourite fandom: BBC Merlin. there was just something absolutely magical about it. And still is. Fucking Once and Future Fandom, man. The gift that keeps on giving…
The tv show that gives you the most brainrot? Shameless, because again with the ‘dive in head first’. Like, I truly believe you never fully leave any fandom you’ve been in. But the one you’re currently in just takes over your world for a while. And that’s amazing.
The fictional couple that gives you the most brainrot? Ian and Mickey from Shameless. Arthur and Merlin from BBC Merlin.
Guilty pleasure fictional couple? Er. I just don’t really believe in guilty pleasures. Shit that brings you joy should be celebrated, not felt bad over. Go forth and find your happiness.
Guilty pleasure TV show? Again. Nah. Love what you love.
And finally something that made you happy this week? I’m just finishing Heartstopper Season 2 and watching Kit Connor and how much he’s grown as an actor has been an absolute delight this week. I keep stopping scenes and going back to rewatch because he’s just there, making interesting choices, and pulling them off, and it’s wonderful to see! Go Kit!
That was fun! I’d like to tag @faejilly @rutherinahobbit @deedala @too-schoolforcool @harrowhark-a-vagrant @heymrspatel @palepinkgoat @lynne-monstr @katherynefromphilly @juliakayyy @darknutmeg @mikhailoisbaby @malec-crazed-author @vintagelacerosette @crossmydna @mishervellous @rereadanon

hi! hope you're doing well :)
just wanted to ask a couple of questions
- what are your thoughts on coach finstock in teen wolf? i really like his interactions with stiles (like the one in the bus in the motel california episode in s3!)
- what are your thoughts on running gags in general (like stiles being shocked that Scott hasn't watched star wars, the coach hating a guy named Greenberg who we haven't even seen). I just wanted to ask what are your favourite running gags in general among all the tv shows you have watched and books you have read that you feel add more fun or dimension to a friendship or character
Hey!
what are your thoughts on running gags in general? I just wanted to ask what are your favourite running gags in general among all the tv shows you have watched and books you have read that you feel add more fun or dimension to a friendship or character
Fun question! When running gags are done well, they definitely add dimension to characters, their relationships to each other and the world itself.
So, Community has a lot of running gags. I like 'shut up, Leonard!'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because a lot of the time in shows, it feels like only the main characters exist in an environment whether it's a school or a town and something like 'Shut up, Leonard!' makes a minor character like Leonard a fixture in the college and gives him a personality and a persona because we actually learn more about him and about the school through each 'Shut up, Leonard' which are also funny and/or clever.
For the same reason --- although this isn't really a running gag because it's only mentioned twice a few episodes apart but I'm including it ---
I liked how much the study group hated Shirley's friend Gary who we never see, like I don't think anyone watches the youtube videos I post but if there was ever a video you should watch, it's this one because the delivery of every character is hilarious
youtube
Also, I'm bending the rules again too but just because I really want to talk about the commitment to a joke where in season 1, season 2 and season 3 there's at least one reference to Beetlejuice and when Beetlejuice is mentioned a third time it's a Halloween episode and so an extra dressed as Beetlejuice walks by (the whole thing in the movie Beetlejuice is in order to summon him you have to say his name three times) and that's just high calibre writing I appreciate
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Britta being a buzzkill is definitely a part of her character and a trait but people's exhaustion and exasperation every time she is a buzzkill makes it a running gag
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brooklyn Nine Nine
"Cool cool cool" which actually just started off as Andy Samberg trying to make people laugh and then the cast just decided to take it and run with it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I also love that Community has a "cool cool cool" running gag with Abed)
but I love this running gag because as someone who also ends up saying very particular things that people close to me say because we spend time together and there's a familiarity there, the fact that the cast and therefore the characters just start picking this up from Andy/Jake really showcases that.
"Title of your sex tape"
Tumblr media
Archer
Archer has wayyyy too many to document but my favourites:
"Phrasing"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the running gags with Archer work because it absolutely shows you what kind of working environment this is, what kind of people these are, like another running gag is making fun of how big Lana's hands are
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brett constantly getting shot and then he dies and then when they're under fire, they lament that Brett isn't around anymore to get shot and "soak up some of these bullets"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That's how we get ants!" too. There are just too many.
Merlin
Merlin and Arthur + The Tavern
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ATLA
"Cabbages!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't even really watch It's Always Sunny but Charlie's illiteracy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are more, lol.
Oh, I forgot to answer your other question. I love Coach Finstock, he's chaotic af.

Favourite book/movie/tv series quote? You can give one for each, if you have it.
AHH SUCH A HARD QUESTION I LOVE SO MANY QUOTES
fav book quote has got to be something from six of crows or crooked kingdom, its definitely between
Until this moment, Wylan hadn't quite understood how much they meant to him. His father would have sneered at these thugs and thieves, a disgraced soldier, a gambler who couldn't keep out of the red. But they were his first friends, his only friends, and Wylan knew that even if he'd had his pick of a thousand companions, these would have been the people he chose.
and
He needed to tell her...what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn't pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he'd begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near. He needed to thank her for his new hat.
i love these books too much to choose just one quote tho istg leigh bardugo's writing 🤌
hard to think of a favourite movie quote, aside from obvious dps quotes
on the more serious side, i do love stans letter from the end of it chapter 2, especially the "be who you want to be. be proud." part
but then also "where are my lesbians??" from pride (2014) lives rent free in my head
god, i love so many tv quotes 😭😭
"we're all stories in the end, just make it a good one eh?" from doctor who
"sometimes you have to do what you think is right and damn the consequences" from merlin
nicks whole i don't want to break up monologue from episode 8 of heartstopper
i watch too many tv shows

favourite movies? Shows?
honestly the worst person to ask this bc i hardly ever watch tv but i'll give it a go
MOVIES
10 Things I Hate About You will always be a favorite of mine, along with Moxie!, Enola Holmes, and a lil indie movie called As You Are. Also a big fan of K-12 (The Film) but idk if that counts bc that's rly just a glorified, hour-long music video.
SHOWS
I would have to be diagnosed as clinically insane if I didn't talk about Merlin. It's terrible, go watch it. Young Royals is brilliant, go watch it. Get Even on Netflix is a personal fav, along with The Letter For the King. No particular reason why, they're both just a lot of drama mixed with a cool plotline. Love How To Get Away With Murder only because it's the most unrealistic show I've ever watched. 10/10. Anne With An E is awesome. That's really all I got tbh.

Was that [NEO HOU/HOU MING HAO]? Oh no no, that was just [WU XIE], a/an [CANON CHARACTER]from [GRAVE ROBBERS’ CHRONICLES]. They are [TWENTY SIX] years old and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.  Hello! I am Meaghan, I haven't rped in like 3 years and this is Wu Xie!
Wu Xie is the main character from Grave Robbers' Chronicles, a Chinese novel series and also several drama adaptations following the books.
It's kind of an Chinese Indiana Jones but it involves like 9 families (not all of them are in the series but the prequel the The Mystic Nine the families are involved....plus the other 2 main characters are an immortal who also has amnesia and a bestie who just wants treasure and food. and his name literally translates to 'fat man') for generations have been protecting yet also grave robbing treasures from bad guys wanting to get immortality?
It's hard to explain so I'll link the wiki page of the series to this below. But the series are quite good (and the sequel based 10 years later) but the FC who I am using is my favourite from one of the series adaptations. I’m still editing his bio page but yeah.
Wu Xie is an antique shop owner, and liaisons with the museums about the authenticity of artifacts. I'm from Australia so I use the English spelling, pre warning in advance!
So things below is a little about me:
I like kdramas and cdramas, Doctor Who, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, TVD/TO/Legacies, Merlin, Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, some anime, amongst many other things. I did have another character in mind but all my gifs I made for him were deleted from years ago.... I might do characters from The Mysterious Thief Yamaneko or An Incurable Case of Love and others maybe in the near future.
In regards to TV series and movies, honestly recommend me shows to watch and I can do the same if you want some not so familiar Asian dramas. Or crime shows. I love crime shows. However I am not really a horror fan.
I am a dog lover and owner, even though I am allergic to animal hair
I have a obsession with the river puppy aka hippo. I find them adorable
I have autism and ADHD and actually do a lot of research in my own time about the two neurodiversities on a blog even though I am about to finish my diploma in nursing (no more assessments though!).
If there is a misunderstanding, it's most likely by accident but feel free to let me know! I do sometimes find it hard to express in writing so I may accidentally use the wrong word. If it doesn't make sense, tell me so I can improve my writing!
I love to talk, so if you want to chat or plot, feel free to dm me!

Inner circle and the TV series / movies / shows they watched
Well, I think we can definitely more or less guess the netflix account of all of them. Let's start!
Morrigan
Her absolute favorite thing would be to watch dramas full of intrigue. No series without love, drama, desires and passion would not have caught her attention. I'm pretty sure she has a favorite sitcom, and she would definitely wrap up whole seasons. She loved watching romcoms and horror movies.
For example:
Dynasty
Bridgerton
Emily in Paris
The Devil Wears Prada
Modern Family
The Good Place
Lucifer
Dark
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Amren Amren definitely liked shows that were dark humored, not long —probably she'd get bored and put it down.- She might also be interested in dramas and intrigue, and there's probably a reality show she's been watching secretly from everyone.
For example:
Russian Doll
Fleabag
Game of Thrones
After Life
Orange is the new Black
La Casa de Papel
Rupaul's Drag Race
Rhysand
Historical TV shows and documentaries would be his favourite—well, come on, we all know he's secretly a nerd— plus he'd enjoy watching sitcoms. There would definitely be a seasonal drama series they followed with Feyre. There is definitely an animated movie that he likes to watch with Nyx.
For example:
Roman Empire
The Last Czars
Black Mirror
That' 70s Show
Rick and Morty
Grey's Anatomy
Dogs of Berlin
Dark
Game of Thrones
The Crown
Star Wars
House of Cards
Harry Potter
Hotel Transylvania
Feyre
Award-winning movies and biography mini-series would certainly she's favourite. In addition to these, crime and drama films would also be interesting content. There was bound to be a seasonal series they followed with Rhys. She used to watch a lot of animated movies with Nyx -and I'm pretty sure she adores them-
For example:
Interstellar
Parasite
Merlin
Dark
Anne With An 'E'
The Queen's Gambit
The Staircase
Unbelievable
Sherlock
Unorthodox
Boss Baby
Shrek
Nesta
She will probably be interested in dramas and dramas full of intrigue. On the other hand, crime-oriented movies may also be her favourite. I'm pretty sure there were reality shows she watched with Cassian, and they liked to watch comedy movies together. Even though she criticizes movies based on books, she couldn't help watching it. She loved to follow biography series and inspiring movies.
For example:
Las Chicas Del Cable
Game of Thrones
Outlander
Gone Girl
Hollywood
The Witcher
Me Before You
Blacklist
Downton Abbey
Black Mirror
Stranger Things
Cassian
Every crime and mafia drama is Cassian's favourite. Engaging biography documentaries, comedy movies, and seasonal TV shows with Nesta. He probably also has favorite animated movies.
For example:
Peaky Blinders
Vikings
Squid Game
Unsolved Mysteries
Bodyguard
The Fall
Black Mirror
Dogs of Berlin
Star Wars
La Casa de Papel
The Boys
Hangover
Kung-Fu Panda
Elain
Romcoms, dramas and sitcoms make up the bulk of the list. She loved to watch useful documentaries about food, flowers, cities and nature. Her favorite reality shows would probably be food and dessert contests. She probably follows stand-ups with black humor. She likes to watch sci-fi movies with Azriel because they end up having discussions about that movie. Probably she's a k-drama fan.
For example:
Grace and Frankie
Gilmore Girls
Outlander
The Good Place
Jane the Virgin
Vincenzo
Anne With An 'E'
Hotel Del Luna
Taylor Tomlinson: Quarter-Life Crisis
Crash Landing On You
The 100
Baking İmpossible
The Big Flower Fight
Best Leftovers Ever!
Downton Abbey
Sherlock
The Adam Project
Inception
Azriel
Crime and espionage documentaries are his favorites to watch. I'm sure his very picky about award-winning TV shows and movies. Sci-fi TV shows and movies probably interest him more. And he would definitely be an anime fan. Elain probably has a sitcom that interests him as well.
For example:
Mindhunter
Sense 8
Dark
Spycraft
The 100
Rick and Morty
Dogs of Berlin
How to Become a Tyrant
Castlevania
Devilman Crybaby
Night Stalker
Sherlock
Blacklist
The Good Place
Mr. Robot
Criminal
Game of Thrones
The Adam Project
I only compiled content that I thought would appeal to them. If you haven't watched it, I think you can add it to your list haha :D It's just for fun, have a good time <3

Katy my darling <3 I have a very fun ask for you!! What method of arts do each glee characters prefer and what is their favorite thing to create?
oooooo this is a fun ask!
I'm gonna do S2 New Directions for now, but may add S3-6 ND or other characters later 💛 (warning... this is LONG)
Artie: Film. 100% film. He loves using visual media to tell a story, he also really gets into the sound design side too when he learns it in College. He loves making music videos and after Uni that's mostly what he does. He also directs a lot of movie musicals and musical TV shows. Basically he loves making visual media for songs.
Blaine: Performing - mostly singing. He also love writing songs, which we never see in the show but I can imagine him learning about songwriting in NYU and loving it as a way to express his feelings. it's like a step up from using someone else's words to express them.
Brittany: Obviously dancing! I like to think that after marrying Santana she either goes to college for Dance, or maybe owns a dance studio/goes on tour with Mercedes a lot (with Santana as a guest singer) She really loves teaching little kids how to dance, she knows how to interact with them on their level and the kids love her.
Finn: Singing? I honestly can't think about what he likes. Like singing is the closest thing. He sings in the shower a lot and obviously he loves singing on stage. But he's not that much of an art person outside of that. He likes consuming it but not making it.
Kurt: Sewing, obviously, as well as sketching clothes. He loves making accessories for friends - scrunchies for the girls, bow ties for Blaine, a dog bandana for Sam's golden retriver (because you know he gets one) etc. - but he also loves designing and making costumes for small productions. Maybe he volunteers/works with a small theatre troop and makes & designs all of the costumes while also performing.
Mercedes: Mercedes likes making cards for everyone for Christmas and Birthdays. It started because she'd forgotten to buy a card for someone but had some card and pretty pens on hand and it spiralled from there. She now owns a fancy die pressing kit and lots of card toppers and pretty glitter pens and washi tape and all of that. She has a small kit she brings on all of her tours, it helps relax her after a show - making cards for the crew as a thank you/maybe selling some for charity because she makes so much? When she finally gets back together with Sam they both work together to make Christmas cards from them with cute pictures of themselves in terrible christmas jumpers and their golden retriver in a Kurt made bandana and later their kids in matching outfits.
Mike: Like Brittany he's a dancer first and formost. That's his art. He later goes on to be a professional on Dancing With The Stars where he reconnects with Matt on set (maybe they even get together in the end and the DWTS fans love their relationship and their jokingly competative instagram stories) He loves creating a story with only movement and music. Mike also really likes doodling.
Puck: Photography. I don't know why but I see Puck loving to take pictures of places he visits in his travels. He also scrapbooks but only Quinn knows that - he has a whole scrapbook of pictures of Beth that Shelby sends them and later makes them for all of his other kids too, and he has, like, travel journals and scrapbooks of roadtrips he's been on. Basically he's a Bullet Journal guy. He really likes washi tape and pretty papers and stickers and what-not. He will never admit this.
Quinn: Quinn's a writer. In my head she goes on to write a book that's losely based on her high-school years and it becomes a best seller and is later adapted into a Netflix series directed by Artie. I just like the idea! Maybe Rachel plays, like, the Miss Pillsbury character... or Terri! Or maybe Shelby? I dunno one of the adult characters.
Rachel: Obviously her art of choice is performing. It's singing and acting and standing on a stage or a set and making the words in her script her own. Also scrapbooking/moodboard making.
Santana: Santana likes knitting. She won't admit it but she likes knitting little plushies for Brittany, her favourite is a little bi flag coloured bunny. She makes knitted plushies and blankets for all of her friends when they have kids but she never tells them she made them - everyone knows though, they're too perfect for the couple/person (a cat in a scarf or a toy poodle in a bow tie for Klaine, a teddy adorned with gold stars for St. Berry etc. etc.)
Sam: This could be an essay for me (and kinda is opps). Sam is the Art nerd of the group and tries every type of art he possibly can. Macaroni art, illustration, digital art, traditional art, crafts, pumpkin carving, glass blowing, handlettering, graphic design, knitting, crochet, rag rugs, sewing, card making, pyrography, etc. He will try everything he can in terms of visual art. He doesn't, however, write because dyslexia, and he can't wrap him mind around, like editing and film stuff - he does try though because why not. He also really likes songwriting and music arranging.
All of this i'm trying to do as close to canon as i can but going off of canon let's say Sam goes to Parsons for illustration because he's so good at art, he stays with Mercedes in her brownstone and they never break up, after graduating he becomes a comic book illustrator (which i believe is literally a minor at Parsons, so let's say he does a Major in Fine Art/Illustration with a Minor in Comic illustration) and illustrates a run of Young Avengers comics and becomes a fan favourite artist.
In canon, however, he loves teaching the new generation of New Directions but he misses art because he doesn't have that much time anymore (because being the teacher of the new directions is a full time job, apparently, judging by the lack of adult friends or hobbies Will has lol) he loves loves loves arranging music, however, and that becomes the type of art he does the most. He does doodle a lot during faculty meeting (also he does a music teaching certification during his first few years of coaching the nNDs) and goes all out with pumpkin carving at Halloween, and loves decorating his apartment and the choir room at Christmas. He loves doing sets for the musical (and has a lot of fun staging it too) and helps out with the decorations for Prom.
Basically Sam loves to be creative in any way he can. He loves making things, whatever they may be.
Tina: Tina writes fanfiction and draws fanart. She's a nerd 100%, she watched Supernatural, she was a SuperWhoLockian, she loves Merlin, she's loves Twilight but more ironically than, say, Mercedes, and prefers books like Morganville Vampires or PC Cast's series that I've forgotten the name of. She loves the Hunger Games and Firefly and Star Trek and Star Wars. She definately has a tumblr. She mostly writes all sorts of fanfiction and is a huge name in the Supernatural fandom. Only Sam and Blaine know about all of this becuase they found one of her Star Wars fanfictions and in an authors note she said something that they recognised - idk she ranted about Santana or Rachel or something.
This was so much fun omg, thank you for the ask Myle 💛

Douxie's had a closing shift at the café again and it being a Friday meant he had the weekend free, so you decide to start the weekend off like any not normal normal couple would.
Pulling the cushions off your couch and stacking them up with blankets and bedsheets with chairs holding it all up from the sides, you found that you’d made a pretty stable fort base if you did so say yourself. Next, you pulled out some fairy lights from your room and strung them up around the inside of the fort to the best of your ability. A little bit of tape and some twist ties got you a long way.
The fort itself stretched off the couch and over the floor, your kitchen island bar stools holding up the later.
Once you'd moved into the apartment, your inflow of blankets had come with you, so there never really was a shortage. Douxie had always complained about being cold. You’d sure solved that problem. You used them to build a sort of platform or mat on the floor off the couch on the floor, and on the couch you did the same. It was already beginning to look and feel like a cozy little warm igloo in there. The "top floor" of the fort had a mountain of your favourite blankets, as you had not been willing to sacrifice them to the floor.
You checked the clock and your text messages to see that Douxie was just finishing up closing at work now, which meant you still had a little time before he got home. You clambered out from the opening of the fort and took a step back to admire your handy work. Nodding in satisfaction at its interior and deeming it acceptable and some quick adjustments to fix the exterior to your liking, you set off to the kitchen for your next mission: snacks.
Rifling through the cabinets, you settled on some Doritos and Smartfood, as well as some candy bars and gummies you'd bought earlier. You scooped all the goods into your arms and shuffled back over to the fort, trying your best not to drop anything on the way there. Multiple trips were for suckers.
Was the couch right in front of the tv? Yes. Did that mean you could be in the couch fort while watching said tv? Not particularly.
Having planned this, you pulled out your laptop and strung it's cord through the mass of pillows and blankets to sit on the top level of the fort on the only neatly stacked pile of blankets. Next, you hauled all the snacks that you’d promptly dropped at the entrance to the fort, into the lower level blanket lair and turned off the lights to save them for the grand reveal of your evening plans for when Douxie got home.
Archie made himself comfortable inside, which you didn't mind one bit. He was always good company, so even though you thought it to be like a little date night, you had no problem with sharing the space with the familiar.
You didn't plan to watch any specific movies or show, you just figured you'd both decide together and figure it out later when he got home. You also ended up leaving the drink choices alone for when he got back. You assumed he'd want tea after a long day at work, but you could never be too sure.
It wasn’t much longer until you heard footsteps outside the apartment door and the jingling of keys as Douxie unlocked the door. It wasn't a rare occurrence for him to step into a completely dark apartment. Sometimes you’d fall asleep somewhere while the sun was still out and just hadn't turned any lights on before it set. Other times he'd just find you in your room hunched over your device and lit up by only the glow of your phone or laptop. Once in a while though, he'd find a little glowing orbs of your magic to light the way to your room, where he’d find you reading surrounded by a handful of them. Almost like you sat in a field of oversized fireflies.
He much preferred the last one as it made him worry less about you damaging your eyesight. Not to mention you always looked so peaceful reading there in your magical light, mind in another world as you read the story you held in your hands.
Today however, he was greeted with the first option. Pitch darkness was the only thing to welcome him home. Not even Archie came to greet him. Some friend he was.
Of course the wizard wasn't aware that his familiar was currently snoozing away in a fort hidden by said darkness, but still.
He heard a faint shuffling from somewhere in the living room, followed by your voice welcoming him home and asking him how his day was.
"Sorry for the darkness! I made us a surprise though! C’mere,"
He felt your hand grab his and you pulling him slightly to lead him across the room.
"Just oneee second-!"
There was a bit of a pause and a little more shuffling before little lights sprouted up under the roof of the fort. Their brightness dimmed by the bed sheets made them look like a bunch of glowworms in their living room. The fairy lights illuminated the room just enough for Douxie to be able to make out the fort and the shapes of everything inside it.
"I thought a couch fort-movie night was a good way to celebrate the weekend and making it through another week of customer service."
The glow from the fort now gave enough light for him to make out the grin on your face.
He couldn't help but smile back at the thoughtful gesture, "Thank you love, it's perfect."
"Archie's already in there and made himself at home by the way, hope you don't mind."
You crouched down to crawl through the entrance and into the fort. "You gonna stand out there by yourself all night or what?"
Douxie smiled again as the lights lit up your silhouette under the sheets, just enough for him to see you waving him in.
"Oh wait almost forgot, sorry hold on," You crawled back out, heading for the kitchen to get drinks. "Tea?"
"Sure thing, darling."
You smiled back as you filled the kettle with water and set it to boil. “Oh go on, don’t be shy. Make yourself comfy and I’ll be right over.” “I’m going, I’m going.” He chuckled lightly, putting his hands up in defense as he crawled into the fort.
You may or may not have magicked your way to boiling water to save time, but soon enough you poured your cups of tea and returned to the fort in the living room. What? Magic may not be a permissible shortcut to hard work, but it wasn’t you who was Merlin’s apprentice after all.
You dropped bags of your favourite tea into travel mugs, just to be safe, and poured in the hot water before bringing them back over to the fort in your living room.
“Do me a favour and hold these for me for a second please?” You stuck your arms into the fort, holding the travel mugs out to Douxie who chuckled and took them from you as you’d asked.
“No problem,” he said.
“Thanksss,” you said, shimmying your way into the fort with various noises of struggle. To which, your wizard simply laughed at in amusement.
“You alright there, love? Having trouble getting into your own fortress?”
“Ha ha, very funny.” You made extra effort to take up as much space as possible once you’d reached him.
Archie protested slightly as you both shuffled around trying to make yourselves comfortable, but eventually settled back down once you'd done the same. As you discussed movie options, you'd eventually settled on a new fantasy release and curled up at Douxie's side. He wrapped an arm around you while you pulled up a blanket and buried yourself further into his chest, making yourself cozy.
Douxie wasn't one for confined spaces, but having you right next to him in a fort you'd made with love for him made him feel much more at peace. You shared the snacks you'd previously brought in while sipping your tea and enjoying the movie together.
The movie however, was rather long. And though it was good, that didn't help keep the two of you awake after a long day of work. You fell asleep in his arms probably just after halfway through the movie, and he fell asleep not long after.
Archie had made his way onto your lap by the time the movie credits rolled around and promptly curled up where he sat, glad that his wizards were home. The three of you stayed like this the rest of the night, in the company of each other and under the cover of bedsheets and artificial stars.

After going through a bunch of emotional rollar coster ride, with bloodshed, gore, screams and tears. I finally finished this beautiful masterpiece and here is my review.
So this story is about a girl who is chosen by the Hidden, has these amazing fey powers and weilds the infamous sword. Is that the whole story NO!,there is more to it than what is shown in the trailer HELL YESSSS!!!!.
As a sucker for Authorian legend, i had an eye on this show and believe me it doesnot dissappoint. I loved the story line, the direction, the characters arc, from the start of nimeu journey to meeting the end was syncronized so beautifully and amazing. You will fell in love with every piece of the forests to the leaves to the feys and the knights except for Father Cardan and Iris.
Gosh watching these two was a torture to my eyes. *drop dead*. *uuugghh go die in a hole you bitch* and much other vivid vocabulary was used whenever they were onscreen and now Iris with 'them, those trinity knights' uggh *eye roll* but i am still excited to see more of this.
This show was owned by Queens after Queens. Morgana, Kazi, Pym and sometimes Nimeu. Let me tell you all , Nimeu is a great person, but is aint a queen nor a leader, i could see her doing blunders after blunders and at time i have seen her go power hungry. I know she was learning and everything was happening so fast but still, she needs alot of practice and training to be a warrior first then to be Queen. Nimeu magic and what is meant to be Summoner wasnt shown much. I guess that would be discuss in S2 (if there is one, PLEASE BE ONE). The story was mostly about the sword, so i would really like to see what NIMEUH actually is without the sword and its power.
Ok to get things cleared up a bit, when the cast was introduced and we met Arthur i saw much opinions and criticism going on towards his appearance (i will not go into that deeply) but all i have to say, whatever his appearance or looks was, this person was ARTHUR THROUGH AND THROUGH from the heart. We all know Arthur as a fair and just person, and he potrayed it so well, he is a kind person, a great swordsman and an amazing and fair leader. Many times he stood up and showed people the way when Nimeu couldn't. He stood and fought for the fey when he himself is human( as both of them are shunned by each other) but this man didnt care, he fought for what is right and that is what we know of Arthur, regardless of what he looks like. I accept him if he is going to be the Once and Future King cuz by heart he is the Arthur we all know and love.
I screamed on the top of my lungs when Morgana made her appearance. You go girl! Also i am scared for you because i donot like what is waiting for you at the end.
I think we can all agree. PYM, SQUIRREL AND KAZI has a separate fan base by now. The best side characters i could ever ask for.
The romance part between Arthur and Nimeu was throwing me off a bit. For me Pym and Dod relationship ruled and it was pretty sweet even though it was for a short while🤧🤧i still liked it, ALSO THAT GIRL DESERVES A MASSIVE RESPECT SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH SOO MUCH. My baby PYM.
CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING. THIS SHOW WAS OWNED BY THE WEEPING MONK AND MERLIN and whoever disagree can join the ranks of Father Cardan ( just kidding). Anyways when i came to know Daniel Sharman is in this series. I was like, let get yourself on board on his protection squad wagon. This boy was my baby when he was lssac Lahey in Teen wolf. I was protecting him then and i am protecting him now and he made me proud. Yes i will repeat it again MY BABY REDEEM HIMSELF and made me proud and he is a natural father🤧🤧🤧 PERCIVAL AND HIM yesssssss 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️. My son is going to raise this boy. I already knew there was more to him that meets the eye and i was not wrong and the best part is that he is playing one of my favourite knight LANCELOT DU LAC. YESSSS BITCHES. MY BABY IS LANCELOT. 💕💕💕 And nobody should hurt him i will riot. I will use the sword on them gladly.
Finally finally saw Merlin with some backbone. With some badassry, he was the best, he is the best and he will always be the best and that last scene *chills* *literal chills*
You go my badass Merlin. I am with you. And also Uther and Merlin dynamic was 😂 to my eyes. They were soo awesome together and Uther itself is amazing. I liked him alot.
Look people let's be clear if we can accept bbc merlin for their adaption on the authorain legend with that ending then surely we can accept this too. Everybody has a right to tell the story their way and the way Netflix told through Cursed was thorough and with depthness, from the time when Arthur himself is learning, when we will not only see his journey as king but also how others played into their role of destiny. I really liked this showed and i applaud every single actor for doing such an amazing work.
SEASON 2 PLEASE. I NEED TO SEE MORE OF MY DANIEL SHARMEN AS MY LANCELOT NOW. The best knight and the noblest of them all.😍😍😍
Also for all my bbc merlin fans, there are many scenes, scenarios and dialogues that will give you nostalgia, so brace yourself and enjoy 😁🤗
Follow me for more amazing reviews on books, tv shows and movies. Recommendations are open😉😉
Tumblr media
Can you not feel this raw pain on his face. My baby🤧
Tumblr media
He owned this entrance. He deserves such an entrance, he rocked in that entrance. He made me scream in that entrance 😍😍
Tumblr media
Look at them, he is a natural father. Loooooook how far he came🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Tumblr media
Yes you beauty. Just like that you made our heads turn when you walk. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I watched all the arthurian tv series I could possibly find and put them all from best to worst (imho)
Regarding my opinions and my taste: I am okay with low budget, bad special effects and even bad/weird acting, I prefer enjoyment over any kind of historical accuracy. I also enjoy cheesy movies, and I prefer characters over plot, and plot over the rest (pace, acting etc.).I tend to prefer movies that uses characters with a reason (ex. using Morgause as Arthur's sister versus using a random guy and calling him Gaheris just because it's an arthurian sounding name). I am also a bit Mordred fan.
Here I considered miniseries part of the tv shows/series list!
(the sequel to this movies post)
The Legend of King Arthur (1979) - my favourite arthurian media EVER. Among movies and tv shows, this is my favorite ever. It focuses a lot on Morgana and Arthur and on her revenge in particular. If you like Morgana, this show is for you. It also has a great Mordred, and some very beautiful moments for Bors.
Kaamelott - Amazing arthurian parody that starts as full on sketches and gets pretty serious and dramatic by the 5th season. It focuses mainly on Arthur.
Arthur et les enfants de la Table Ronde (animated series) - amazing animated show about a kid Arthur living in Uther's castle and having a bunch of adventures with Guinevere, Morgana, Gawain, Sagramore and Tristan. Pretty heartwarming!
The Boy Merlin - while I am not a Merlin fan in general, I still loved this miniseries which focuses on Merlin's childhood and small adventures without being too cheesy.
Arthur of the Britons - I love this show, and I am a big Kay fan so this show is really a gift. Sadly, it lacks in arthurian events/characters.
The Mists of Avalon (2001) - I hate the novel, but the miniseries managed to cut out my least favorite parts, and kept the bone structure of it. It also focuses on Morgana and she is played by one of my favorite actresses.
The Adventures of Sir Lancelot - episodic and fun, this has one of my favourite Lancelot ever. The only thing I disliked was that there is no overall plot or drama
Camelot (Starz, 2011) - the series was cancelled after the first season so it never gets to other events, but as a Morgana focused series it was pretty amazing. Arthur was quite weak as a character, but at least Eva Green was in it.
The Legend of Prince Valiant (cartoon) - this is my favorite adaptation of Prince Valiant and it has tons of arthurian elements, in particular it also had some great episodes for Gawain and Guinevere.
Fate/Apocrypha (anime): This season is not connected with the other seasons and can be watched alone. It is about humans summoning historical figures as servants to fight and obtain the Grail (basically a wish-giving object). Mordred is one of these figures.
Trollhunters (animated series) - (only first season and third season) The arthurian elements are pretty vague at the beginning, but the new season explored Camelot and the relationship between Morgana and Arthur. In general, Morgana is a great character in this show.
The Librarians - Mainly not an arthurian series, but it is a general fun show and it has Galahad as one of its main characters, with some specific episodes about him.
The Adventures of Sir Galahad - a fun watch but very repetitive. Still, I enjoyed this one tv series where Mordred and Galahad actually interact
Cursed (Netflix) - Tv show focusing on Nimue. Pretty fun, especially by the end, but many times the whole "this character by neutral name... is actually *insert arthurian character here*" ended up being not necessary and pretty fanservice-y, without any real meaning.
Merlin (1998 miniseries) - while I enjoyed it, in particular the second episode, I generally disliked many of the "beauty as most important for women" elements
Merlin (BBC) - I enjoyed the first two seasons more than the rest. The show ends up with a lot of plot stuff missing or forgotten and it ends up with no particular coherent plot at all.
King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (anime) - I am still at episode ~ 12, but I am really enjoying it. It focuses on the adventure of Arthur on a journey (with some other knights) to find out who killed his parents and stop the big anime style villain
Sir Gadabout - I only watched a few episodes so take this with a grain of salt, but it's a funny parody show, but nothing special
Il cuore e la Spada - an Italian Tristan and Isolde tv show
Stargate SG1 season 9 and 10 - This was a good show, but it's this low because the arthurian elements of these "arthurian seasons" are only a few.
King Arthur's Disasters - Episodic parodies about Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere (mainly).
Fate/Stay Night and *Fate/Zero (*anime) - The anime has some arthurian elements (Holy Grail and Saber/Arthur), but I did find it pretty confusing e boring.
Once Upon A time - The tv show had some arthurian elements and then an entire arthurian arc. Unfortunately they dropped so many plots points that it literally made no sense.
Merlin's Apprentice - Melrin 1998 without the interesting parts
The Seven Deadly Sins (Anime) - It has Merlin, Tristan's Dad and Lancelot's dad among its main characters, plus other arthurian characters and Arthur as a guest character. It has some really problematic elements and the third season was also pretty boring.
Mr Merlin - this is barely arthurian. It's also about Merlin in modern times, and nothing too exciting.
Alias the Jester - I don't even know why I watched it. It only had, like, one arthurian element and in general it was pretty boring
Not watched/in the list:
Arthur And The Square Knights Of The Round (I watched some episodes ages ago, but I remember nothing)
King Arthur and the Knights of Justice
Blazing Dragons
Guinevere Jones (it's impossible to find in English)
Merlin (1980 German tv show and, sadly, I don't know German)
Arthur Prince on the White Horse (sequel of the other arthurian anime that I have to finish)
Space Knights (I only recently found out about this and haven't watched it yet)
House of Anubis (never found it in English)
Merlin (2012, only in French)
Runaways (I watched the first season, and have yet to get to the arthurian elements in the third)
Honorable mentions:
The MacGyver's arthurian episodes are among my favorite Connecticut Yankee adaptations. Doctor Who Battlefield was also a pretty good arthurian arc.

Ship Game Movie/TV ship questions; answer with a GIF; no repeats
@fluffypotatey thank you for the tag!! 💖
70% of these are Merlin ships but it’s me what do you expect 😂
1 - Your first ship: HarryLu. I don’t care if it’s platonic or romantic. These two deserve each other.
Tumblr media
2 - Your first OTP: Scorbus. That quote. That quote.
Tumblr media
3 - Your current favourite ship: Do you even need to ask
Tumblr media
4 - You shipped from the first minute: Freylin. I firmly believe you cannot watch Merlin without at having a bit of fondness towards this ship because for the sake of all that is good look at them 😭💖
Tumblr media
5 - You wished that they were endgame: Gwencelot. Because I’m a shameless Merwenthurlot shipper and these two didn’t deserve to be separated.
Tumblr media
6 - You wish they had been canon: Merwaine, because Merthur got the 5x13 commentary and Merwaine got nothing other than Eoin’s statement that Gwaine had an unrequited love for Merlin, which I am trying to delete from my mind because there shall be no unrequited ships in this house.
Tumblr media
7 -  A ship you like but most of the fandom hates: It’s more that the ship consists of two people the fandom dislikes but....Evil Gwen x Shade Lancelot. They were single-handedly the most competent villains in the show and had hot badass evil energy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8 -  You don’t even watch the show but you ship them anyways: Joe x Nicky. For many reasons including: The Quote, that they were on opposite sides during the crusades and fell in love anyway, the fact that I relate to Joe so much, and again - look at them.
Tumblr media
9 - You wish they had a different storyline: the OT4 because I hate the fact that Morgana’s betrayal trails behind them like a shadow and that only half of them survived by the end of the show
Tumblr media
10 -  Fave ship that was endgame: Again, do you even need to ask

Yes, the weak writing in TOA is what mellowed me out on the series. Despite my distaste for all the decisions after the first third of the movie I can't say it disappointed me because no matter how excited I was I didn’t have high expectations because I know what it's like. It's funny because I never completed the series. I got through half of Trollhunters and 3lbelow before I just had to leave. It took me a month to finish Wizards and that one's my favorite. So yeah.
(Following on from this ask.)
That's fair. Like I said before, I'm in a pretty similar boat when it comes to Tales of Arcadia. Trollhunters was good and - barring a couple of episodes which I fast-forwarded through because the tropes/ execution of the premise wasn't for me - I had a really enjoyable time with it. But then it reached the end and it felt like there were a lot of questions (changelings etc.), worldbuilding (heartstones etc.) and general complexities (Merlin as he was talked about throughout the series vs Merlin as he appeared at the end) that were left hanging to a frustrating degree.
Now, in fairness, I tend to experience "wait, that's it?"-ism at the end of a lot of TV shows that run for more than a single season - it's probably just the nature of the medium/production environment that makes it hard to match the impact of hours of build-up in just a handful of final episodes, especially since a lot of shows won't know they're on their final season until that season - but with Trollhunters, it was a very intense feeling of "wait, that's it?".
Part of the reason why I initially watched 3Below was that I had hoped it would continue building on the unanswered lore questions from the first series (a fairly common thing for sequels/ spinoffs to do) but instead it took a hard right-turn into aliens and sci-fi. And - much as Douxie is probably my favourite ToA protagonist - by Wizards it became clear that even when we were going back (heh) to the more Troll-adjacent fantasy world, most of those questions still weren't going to be satisfyingly answered, if at all.
Part of me wonders if this might be a small blind-spot of Del Toro's when combined with Netflix, since outside of ToA most of his resume is film, and film has different structural/ worldbuilding/ storytelling conventions due to the much shorter run time. A 'film ending' would probably feel underdeveloped at the end of a TV series because shows by necessity have to add and flesh out more concepts to fill their run time. Just speculation through.
By about halfway through 3Below I was definitely watching more out of a sense of analytical curiosity and 'might as well see it through' than because I was still invested and suspending my disbelief. If I'd made it dedicated watch (rather than something to have on while sewing the Purrloin Plush) I probably would have stopped at about midway through 3Below, so I totally get where you're coming from with that.
As a sidenote: The way Wizards handled the Merlin/amulet/Morgana's-hand point from Trollhunters felt almost like a cop-out to me. Like they were trying to walk back/ distance Merlin from the morally callous nature Trollhunters both showed and suggested in some antagonists' dialogue, by making it seem like far less of a deliberate scheme from him, having her turn 'bad' for unrelated reasons ahead of time and someone else being the one to actually cut her hand off. Which kind of retroactively makes it weird that she claims he "took her hand" in the first series. That line made it seem more morally complex (that maybe she became a villain' because she was directly betrayed/ wronged by one of the heroes) but then her character gets weirdly flattened. Tales of Arcadia's moral stance on Merlin is just very unclear and strange in general.
With all that said though, I think there is value sometimes in going in to something with no expectations - or knowing/ expecting it to be bad - as an exercise in analysing storytelling. One upside is what you said; because you're not really invested/ aiming to become invested you don't end up being as disappointed by bad writing. (It's that weird sort of optimistic pessimism - if you expect the worst then you'll either be right or pleasantly surprised).
Consuming media with the intent to dissect it from the start does give a different experience... but then again no-one watches True Crime Documentaries or Mayday: Air Disaster because they want to experience a perfectly normal day where everything goes well and no-one gets hurt. Some days you just want to watch a train wreck in slow motion and try to work out what went wrong.
I actually did this with Dreamwork's Voltron - I went in having already read discussions, watched a full analysis and knowing it was going to go downhill, because I was curious to see how it was going fall apart so thoroughly that the fandom almost unanimously agrees that it's a mess. Funnily enough I was kind of surprised: not because it wasn't bad (although the first three seasons are genuinely fun) but because it got bad in ways I didn't expect. Most of the discourse I had seen was ship-related so I'd sort of expected a generically mediocre story with some 'Kataang vs Zutara' level character chemistry fanning the flames, but no - the central narrative and structure of Voltron just completely falls apart. It's wild.
And - much as it's always is sad when a series doesn't live up to it's potential - I kind of prefer when a story 'shows its hand' so to speak fairly early on in terms of writing weaknesses. For me, it's almost more tolerable to see the flaws and accept that you have to look past them as the price of entry. It lets you manage your expectations - you're consuming the story in spite of known problems, so it doesn't feel as bad if/when those flaws get big enough to make the story not worth continuing with.
Call it honesty, or maybe just closure, but I'd rather a series that's kind of stupid from the start to one that starts off strong/competent and then gets really unexpectedly stupid all at once. The former tends to sting a lot less.
#trollhunters#trollhunters: rise of the titans#tales of arcadia#Really starting to make me realise I have a strange relationship with ToA#I don't dislike it. but. I also don't feel any surprise that the flaws that were there right from Series 1 toppled it#It could have been better#and it's sad that it wasn't#But it's also kind of exactly what I knew I signed up when I continued past Series 1 despite my feelings about those flaws#So I don't feel mislead or like it in any way made a false promise about it's trajectory/ themes/ quality#(You already know which series I DO feel that way about)#also I feel like the way each Series ends with characters from the next series popping up to help with plot feels too Deus Ex Machina#Definitely the worse offender was when Aja and Krel just showed up and solved the Lightning in a Bottle puzzle for the Trollhunters gang#At the cost of building any metaphorical answer or having Jim Toby and Claire do proper problem solving#Aja and Krel were such a weird way to handle it since it didn't even really build much mystery for who/what they were#3Below kind of makes it better in retrospect but in Trollhunters it's still 'weird exchange students show up with solution just go with it'#very strange choice#Voltron is the only series where I got to the point of saying 'I give up' 'I cannot tell what will happen next' OUT LOUD while watching#ATLAS turning into another robot very much broke my brain and punted the remains of my suspension of disbelief into the sun#youmaycallmeyourhigness#3WD Answers

A collective post of everything I watched on Netflix in 2020
I finally found the watch history function on Netflix which I wanted in order to reminisce over the TV/film I watched over the last year, including the good and the bad. I’ve included a little round-up of my thoughts for each, as lockdown has got me with plenty of time on my hands. If anyone has watched any of the below feel free to give me a message- happy to discuss anything!
Travelers (season 3) - this was an unforgettable show with some great characters and definitely put me through hell (in a good way), I am a David x Marcy shipper for sure!
IT Crowd (season 4 & 5) - my favourite comedy show ever, and I mean the UK version
Explained (random episodes) - interesting bite-sized episodes on a variety of topics
Sherlock (season 3 & 4) - it kinda went downhill from season 4...and doesn’t help that there is no season 5 in sight
Unforgettable - must be pretty forgettable cause I couldn’t remember watching, a typical revenge plot romp I think
The Mind, Explained - same as for Explained above, except more pyshcological
You (season 2) - binge-worthy! I love to hate Joe Goldberg.
Don’t F**k with Cats - wow, this was disturbing but so gripping.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - geniunely a good remake and rather amusing
Sex, Explained - as for Explained but a little more intriguing ;)
The Stranger (season 1) - full of suspense and a good binge watch but ultimately full of plot holes with an unsatisfying conclusion
Gavin & Stacey (season 3) - a classic which I only started watching in 2019
Sex Education (all of it) - comedy gold!
Unbelievable (limited series) - very harrowing, an emotional rollercoaster based on a real-life rape case
Atypical (all of it) - light-hearted and fun to binge
The Sinner (season 1) - it was okay... wasn’t spectacular compared to other similar dramas I’ve seen
Love Is Blind (season 1) - cringey but satisfying
In the Shadow of the Moon - I hardly remember this one :)
Dunkirk - a stand-out historical movie
The Stepfather - typical killer stepfather plot but rather enjoyable
The Super - an interesting premise, but not that super
Saw VI - all gore not much plot
Doctor Who (random episodes) - no words needed :D
Louis Theroux and Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends (random episodes) - I love his style of interviewing - what a man!
The Revenant - a lot of... well, not much
Nightcrawler - it was decent, but something was missing which I couldn’t put my finger on
How To Get Away With Murder (seasons 1-5) - probably my biggest new watch of the year, a rollercoaster of suspense, drama and murder, another season to go...
Ocean’s Eleven - fun but cheesey
Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare - creepy faces and an interesting ending
Eli - it started one way then went another, I wasn’t convinced
Star Trek (2009) - I couldn’t really get into this one...
In the Tall Grass - a lot of running around in grass
Bloodride (season 1) - i loved this, a quirky idea, i binged it
Apostle - intense, a satisfying religious cult horror
The Platform - great idea, not sure on the ending
What Keeps You Alive - what happened in this one again?
History 101 - didn’t watch many episodes :P
The Prodigy - a decent child possession horror
Into the Night (season 1) - really enjoyed this, a highlight of the year for me, hoping for a season 2
It - pretty chilling and creepy, but a tad cheesey
Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - the first one has a brilliant dinosaur fight scene, the second one has too many plot holes and inconsistencies to take seriously
Knowing - a Nicholas Cage sci-fi/apocalpytic classic, pretty decent
Stranger Things (random episodes) - i tried to get my bf into the show but sadly he still isn’t much of a TV fan
Miranda (random episodes) - such fun!
Black Mirror (seasons 1 & 2) - another one i introduced the bf to, i got a bit further with him on this one, the very first episode being the highlight
The Last House on the Left - a decent remake, but nothing outstanding
Dark (season 3) - this, my friends, is one of the greatest shows of all time. want a timey-wimey story where everything is connected and has an amazingly satisfying conclusion? this is the show for you!
The Silence - a bad ‘A Quiet Place’
Geostorm - i’m a fan of disaster movies but this one wasn’t in the same league as some of the greats
Panic Room - a mum and kid hides in the panic room when a group of thugs break into the house, it was enjoyable but not all that memorable
Prisoners - a very long film with some enjoyable parts but overall unsatisfying
Girl on the Third Floor - it was okay, i can’t remember much of it
The Woods (season 1) - another Harlan Coben adaptation- not as good as ‘Safe’ or ‘The Stranger’ but still a gripping thriller
Time Trap - a fun time-travel film with some interesting turns of events
72 Dangerous/Cutest Animals (random episodes) - just ‘cause i love animals
Slasher (all of it) - some very gory deaths, especially in season 3. quite disturbing but keeps the suspense up throughout.
2012 - a guilty pleasure of mine, realistic or not
Kingsman: The Secret Service - a fun spy film, will be looking to watch the second one soon
Blackfish - this was harrowing, it really made me think, but overall i’m on the side of tilikum
Unsolved Mysteries (season 1 & 2) - watching some of these my jaw dropped, love theorising on this kind of stuff
Down to Earth with Zac Efron (season 1) - Zac is great in this, he seems so chill and literally ‘down to earth’
The Call - I love this film, seen it 3 times now
Contagion - very relatable right now, interesting to see the parallels with todays situation
Next in Fashion (season 1) - i didn’t get too far with this, i found it a little superficial
Searching - another of those internet web-cam based films. decent but not memorable.
Non-stop - another Nicholas Cage classic, this time a suspense thriller
Freaks - as the title suggests this one was rather weird, i didn’t quite gel with it
The Perfection - wow, that was an experience. definitely memorable, even if some characters make questionable decisions...
Extraction - not usually a fan of action-type thrillers, but i actually enjoyed this one, plus it has Chris Hemsworth in it!
Line of Duty (season 2) - full of suspense, a great build-up in the first 5 episodes, but the way they tied it up really grated on me
Insidious - watched this one with my sister. a genuinely good horror film on rewatch with an amazing cliff-hanger
A Quiet Place - another one watched with my sister. labelled a horror but its more sci-fi, either way its a classic. bring on the second film!
The Dark Tower - disappointing mostly.
Gladiator - i’d never seen this before and now i understand the hype- what an epic movie!
Criminal UK (season 2) - didn’t disappoint following the exceptional first season
Venom - a fun comedic marvel film, definitely need to watch more from Marvel in the next year- i need an order to watch them in as don’t know where to start
Our Planet (season 1) - chill David Attenborough to put on in the background
The Equalizer - a great action revenge thriller plot with a badass Denzel
Merlin (random episodes) - who doesn’t love a trip down memory lane with some nostalgic bbc merlin?
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) - pretty scary remake
The Witcher (season 1) - rewatched in order to familiarise myself again before season 2 - i didn’t realise how funny the show was until this time round, gotta love Jaskier!
American Murder: The Family Next Door - this was haunting
The Haunting of Bly Manor - phenomenal, emotional, creepy, heartbreaking - i much preferred it to Hill House
Abducted in Plain Sight - seriously, how naive are the parents in this? i could have a rant for hours about this!
The End of the F***ing World (seasons 1 & 2) - very bingeable, Alyssa makes me laugh too much, i love how relatable the show is
Fractured - didn’t expect much from this consipiracy-type film but it kept me guessing right till the end
The Ripper (limited series) - very intriguing, but the mysogyny in this was shocking
Inconceivable - a typical mother looking for her baby revenge plot but still entertaining
The Midnight Sky - i’d heard rave reviews for this but was disappointed by a lacklustre plot which was sacrificed for award-winning cinematography
Killer Women with Piers Morgan (season 2) - a pyschological interview series which looks into the mind of murderers, rather interesting
May the Devil Take You - scarier and jumpier than i thought it would be!
So 2020 obviously gave me a lot of time to watch a s**t load of stuff and looking back at it i feel like i got a decent amount of my watch-list ticked off! And obviously this is not including shows watched on other media so there’s that too (a special shout-out to the William Hartnell era of Doctor Who which I watched this year on BritBox). In all, 2020 has definitely introduced me to a few new fandoms and progressed my love for others.
