Heyyyyy I just came up with this but headcanons with the boys if their so is in college and has a bunch of missing work how and how they would deal with it (not like this is related to me rn totally DONT have have 20+ missing assignments that r do Thursday😮‍💨) if not that’s fine I just needing something to do so I felt like I was being productive cuz I don’t feel like doing work in my week off. Thought I’d submit ideas for writers so I’d be doing smt!
AEW STARS React to: Their S/O In College (and Taking Finals)
Pairings: Nick Wayne x Reader, Darius Martin x Reader, Hook x Reader, Dante Martin x Reader, Christian Cage x Reader, MJF x Reader, Eddie Kingston x Reader, Wheeler Yuta x Reader
Word Count: 1.2K
Supreme Speaks: hey yall, finals kicked my butt, but we back and packed up in here! to this lovely anon, i hope you got everything done and passed with flying colors (ik i struggled). but anyways, please remember that you are loved and appreciated, and also that you are more than a gpa.

Taglist: @hooks-martin @sheinthatfandom @triscillal @cassie0sstuff @eddie-kingstons-wifey @hookerforhook @batzy-watzy @wwenhlimagines
i totally forgot to add my beautiful besties my bad
Nick Wayne
Hahaha He is the last person you should be going to for help
If anything, Nick believes that you should just leave it alone and just be in candy land with him
But he knows how hard it is for you and how important it is
So he’ll try his best to help you actually do the assignments
Like you two split up how much work you have and he does half the assignment
I think he would find it fun; pulling all nighters in the library and doing work with their S/O until like 4 am
Every night would be a new adventure
Would let you review the work before you submit it
But anything science-related
Don’t ask him shit
I see him as more of a math person
Darius Martin
I see Darius definitely as a liberal arts or literature person
Like he can edit your papers (he’s your personal chat gpt)
I think Darius would help you by creating a schedule
Like when you need to get stuff done by
BUT
He takes it a step further by allocating time limits for each assignment
Like you can only work on assignment 1 for an hour and 30 minutes each day
Something tells me he is particular with schedules
Darius will keep you on track as if he’s getting paid for it
“Y/N, your break ended 3 minutes ago. LETS GO”
Will definitely help you with researching topics cause that takes a while
Don’t ask him shit about math
Dante Martin
Doesn’t particularly understand what you are going through
But nonetheless he hates that he doesn’t see you as much anymore
I can see him just giving you gifts and words of encouragement
Will tutor you if you need help…but realize that this is not high school science
“You mean there is more than Chemistry I? CHEMISTRY VI? ORGANIC-“
He soon gives up
Stays up with you and drags you away from work if needed
IMAGINE DANTE SAYING “COME TO BED BABY” OMG MY HEART
Will help you with assignments like Nick
Will reward you for all your hard work (wink wink)
Tries to distract you and give you moments for fun/relaxation
After the dust is settled, he’s just happy that you are out of the shackles of academia and you two can hang out stress-free
Hook
MANS IS NOT BOTHERED WITH YOUR BULLSHIT
Has the constant “I told you to start on these assignments earlier” look on his face
If anything he will just supply you with food, energy drinks, and emotional support
But if you thing this man will give you any type of physical help
YOU ARE LYIN TO YOURSELF SWEETHEART
Will secretly complain about your lack of self care or wishing he could actually help in Italian
Fancanon: Hook can speak Italian
If he thinks you have been working too much
He will save your work and shut your laptop down
Will make sure you did everything on your checklist before turning the assignments in
If you need him to print stuff off, just ask, he’ll do it
Unless it’s 1 am…then he’s telling you to take your ass to sleep
Wheeler Yuta
Okay, this man can actually help you
WITH HIS CUTE ASS GLASSES
He truly understands what you are going through as he used to be in your shoes
Mans will tutor you until you are smarter than him
Loves helping you with history and shit
“No the War of 1812 didn’t happen in 1937”
Gives you helpful study and test-taking tips
Tries to make you drink healthy caffeinated drinks not Monsters or Red Bulls
Believes they are the devil and will slap them out of your hands
“What did I say? Red Bull gives you horns, not wings…no not horns for being horny”
Will give you little trinkets or treat you out to dinner when you complete your assignments/exams
He just wants you to remain healthy during this stressful time
Christian Cage
I feel like if anything Christian is a professor…with the way he be schooling those-
He’s probably very knowledge in various subjects
He just does them the old-fashioned way
“What the hell is this?…Whatcha mean this is the new way?”
But if anything he’ll adapt to it, just trying to help you
I HAVE A THEORY that he’ll stay up reading the next chapter or the directions for your next assignment and tries to figure out ways to make the process easier
So the next day you walk out to the table and you see the parts of your project laid out and labeled
“I know it’s a lot but we break it up like this, you should be able to complete by tomorrow”
Christian takes pictures of you two so he can look back and bring up times like the Vietnam war
Makes you take breaks, in which he’ll work in your place
When you get your grade back, it’s yalls grade
not yours
MJF
Straight up pays for a tutor/homework helper
But stays in the room and yells at them cause you are still confused and behind
I mean this in the nicest way
Max is no damn help
He is laughing at you while he’s putting on his scarf
“Imagine doing homework to get a little paper for a job! That’s what you get for not being born rich”
Will post you on instagram and claim that homework and exams are to test idiots
But will quickly change his tune when you place a physics worksheet in front of him
“WHY IS THE GREEK ALPHABET HERE?”
Issues you a public apology and vows to never make fun of you again
If anything MJF supplies you with emotional support, letting you know that your feelings are valid
Will buy you new shoes or something massive for surviving and passing everything
Eddie Kingston
Now when I say don’t ask him anything
DON’T ASK HIM ANYTHING! HE’LL JUST SAY
“Doll, imma be real, I have a GED. I dunno shit”
He can only laugh from afar and say “glad I don’t have to do that shit”
But if you ask him anything about English or Shakespeare, he got you
Will recite random Shakespeare quotes to provide entertainment
I think he proofreads your papers to ensure they make sense
I do think he can help with researching and giving you credible websites
Other than that, his designated role is paper weight or waterboy
He believes your every word when you groan about school
That’s all he can do but you don’t complain about it
After he loves you and you love him

do you have favourite ships for the owl house?
*edit a little because I forgot a small explanation. 12/10/23)
I enjoy pretty much everyone but I really enjoy Darius and Alador. There really so little we know about them as individuals so its fun to imagine what they be like. But I think they fit so well together and they will make each other happy. With most characters I'm already satisfied because they are already together and are happy ever after. With these two, they are mysterious individuals and the ship is only semi implied. I know you don't need to be with someone to be happy and yadda yadda yadda, but I think most people are saps for people coupling. I am also more interested in the potential of a relationship then when one is actually established. I love the slow build ups and such.
Darius for the most part would pair well with any adult/ HagSquad character including the poly pairings. Except I don't see him being with Eda alone in a relationship, so him being a poly with Raeda.I don't want to break up a canon relationship (Raeda) either. We don't know much about Perry but I imagine they get along really well. The same goes with Camila. Lilith is out as its canon she a big nope on these things. I know the fanbase have mix feelings about Alador but I'm huge Darius and Alador as a couple.
Some people say the time skip and that near kiss was random but it wasn't. There was small clues that Darius always cared about Alador the entire time.
First clue is the name hack. Darius as far I can tell, only give little pet names to characters he fond of but delivered in a almost condescending way. I believe he trying to remain distance from the people he cared for. He worked in the castle where everyone was cutthroat and backstabbing. He does not want his 'weakness' be shown or used against him. So he refers to his love ones with derogatory names to appear uncaring towards them. Alador: Hack Eberwolf: Mutt Hunter: Little prince Raine: Songbird Eda: The Owl Beast....okay thats not really a nickname but it is a title he can refer to.
The other clues is him muting Alador on pentagram, instead of deleting. As much of a front Darius gives about "loathing" Alador he still follows him and and silently checks up on Alador by the updates. If he truly didn't give a damn about Alador, he would have simply deleted him. Out of sight, out of mind. I have to rewatch to conform but I think Darius only muted Alador to keep himself from commenting a snarky reply (an act from Darius to insure Alador safety. He can't have anyone think he likes him, he NEEDS to have people think he hates Alador so Alador is not placed in danger or used against him, especially so close to the DoU). Darius may suspect Belos starting to have suspicions at his point as Raine, a covenhead, has already turned against him. Darius can sense Belos scrutiny on all his Covenheads since then and Darius can not fail. So Darius refrain from his usual cattiness of replies and opted to remain silent. It was safer to ignore Alador then put on an act that the Emperor might see though as he scrutinize his Covenheads.
I know there was another clue but for the life of me I can not think of it at this moment.
I agree with the fanbase, Darius could do better then Alador, but Darius is absolutely what Alador needs in a partner. Darius would make a great partner to anyone. You know this man will treat anyone so well, respected and be patient. He the type that would treat himself to something and would make damn sure he gotten two to share with his partner. I want Alador to be alone for while (aside from kids). We know he been with Odalia right off the bat, so Alador never been on his own before. It was under his parent rule then straight to Odalias. He needs to figure out to be on his own two feet and rediscover who he is and what he wants while making his OWN decisions. Which I'm positive he'll struggle with but its something he needs. You know this man is struggling (beside emotionally) with everyday adulting. He never had to focus on paying paying bills as it was always been handle by anyone but him. He probably forgotten about bills until the lights were turned off and it left his scratching his head until his one of kids point to the mountain of unopened mail, mostly past due bills.
I was happy with the time skip that Alador is at least alone and trying. I was not thrilled of the vacant expression with Darius he had in the time skip which made me pause. I really wish they made Alador smile instead of staring blankly. But I have my own little headcanons to explain to satisfy my wishfulness. First of all, I do think Alador needs a hit on the head and things spelled out to him when it comes to feelings, particular feelings of love directed at him.
The second part is, I think Alador was brought on a compulsory heterosexauality. (I know that term is used mostly for lesbians) I know this is a huge stretch as the Boiling Isle so open on identity and sexuality. But I have a feeling Alador life has always been strict. He was brought up similar to his children or stictor which is why he puts up little fight or arguments as his opinions are generally valued lowly. Sheer exhaustion his a huge part of that as well. I been overworked for a solid month every year to the point of just not caring. I know what its like. You want to care but you had so little time yourself, so little in fact that you don't even have enough time to sleep and eat. It affects your mental state. You are trying to care and listen but you already running on fumes and barely functioning as is so you just become barely aware outside from what's needed for work, numb and your focus is very limited.
But going back to point, Aldor may been brought up as compulsory heterosexauality. He was made to think hes straight or didn't have a choice while he was young before he had any sexual awakenings and never really question it. I'm fairly certain his marriage is arranged, so there was no point on exploring that part of himself when he was already been promised to someone. Remember how being a pre teen and teen that emotions were wild and confusing? Now, imagine that and being Alador who was more then likely told to suppress his emotions to uphold a Blight image and appearences. I don't think he would have much emotional intelligence, especially as a boy. So if he did, had feelings for the same gender, he probably would come up some weird explanation to himself that particular fondness, isn't what it is and come up with some excuse to himself what it could be and just ignore it. So in that near kiss, Alador brain short circuited and gears started to move. He was processing his possibly new sexuality that maybe he isn't only straight? It was his gay/Bi awakening. Not only that, he processing the thought he can indulge in that exploration now. That's my take on that scene anyways for me to have Darius and Alador to happen.
I need it to happen because I know they would make each other happy. They are so opposite in so many ways but strangely complementary, like a yin yang. Alador needs someone like Darius. Darius will still take charge which Alador prefers and actually needs. Alador is too lax so he needs to be lead around and have someone set up some type of disciplined lifestyle. Unlike Odaila, Darius will asked Alador opinions or thoughts and listen and consider them in decision making instead of bossing and ordering Alador around. Hell, just the simple act of Darius listening to Alador is something Alador needed. We all saw Alador trying to bring up hesitantly the subject of having second thoughts and reconsidering the deal with Belos before Odalia responded with threat. I take that and assumed most discussions are similar when he talks to Odalia. Darius will make Alador feel heard which is something he hasn't felt often since being best friends with Darius at school. Darius will also make sure Alador is taking care of. Including him in self care days. Alador reluctantly enjoys them, and enjoy them more as they slowly become routined.
*Side note* I know people think Alador had a lot more say in things and is more 'equal' with Odalia because he managed to talk Odalia to keeping her deal with Amity. I think otherwise. I believe he mostly unaware when it came to his children. But he tried to help out when he can without making it worse or when he not being threatened or blackmailed. It was clear that Odalia in charge and threatens Alador into submission. Yes Odalia listen to Alado in Escaping Expulsion but I think Alador had an opportunity to help his children and seized it by choosing his words carefully. He spoke exactly in a way that Odalia would respond positively to and goals she striving for. "She getting stronger....maybe strong enough to be a covenhead someday..." and left her with that thought. It was something Odalia wanted and he used it to have her back down.
Now, I know most people are thinking...why Darius, a near perfect man who probably can have anyone, because even a straight man cant deny all of that, would be interested in Alador. I understand, because I think it too. I have a few headcanons on that.
First of all, I think Darius is Demisexual. His color scheme are nearly ace colors and his first outfit even had diamond shape on it. I know the outfit doesn't mean anything. It not like everyone walks around with their pride colors as their everyday wear. But someone as fine as Darius, did not appear to have much interest in relationships except for that time skip. So if Darius is Demi and Alador being one of the strongest bonds he had made in his lifetime may stir deeper feelings.
Darius also hadn't made many deep connections since his school days and Eber (brotherly affection). The last one being the previous Golden Guard, which I believe he had feelings for. We know that ended in tragedy. Darius knew it was suspicious death that more than likely spun his question Belos and started a rebellion. But the previous Golden Guard death also made Darius become strict with keeping a distance with people (Part of which is a broken heart) while not showing who he cares for. So he not allowing himself to bond with anyone therefore keeping him from forming an interested in anyone. So, this may have cause him to have lingering thoughts and get stuck on Alador from time to time when longing for a connection. Since Alador is the strongest bond he felt and had an attraction to beside the previous golden guard.
Headcanon time, I think Darius was considered an ugly duckling and untalented as a little boy. It was later Hexside years he became skilled and was fortunate that puberty was kind. The ugly duckling may have spun his interest in fashion and focus on looking good. Alador befriended Darius during his ugly duckling years and always stuck by him and always so genuine. So when Darius started to get peoples interested when he became...I was going to say swan but that man a peacock! It felt superficial and hollow which really made it difficult for Darius to bond in that way.
As much as Darius puts up a front of being a selfish uncaring person, he isn't. He probably the most caring person in the show that hes forced to hide. He also a natural caretaker. It's just who he is. How can he turn a blind eye on his old flame Alador who overwhelmed post emperor reign when Darius no longer has to hide his 'weaknesses'. Darius can lend an ear or shoulder. Note: Darius always had underlying feelings for Alador but I wouldn't say he was crushing on him right away after the emperor defeat. It was built back up as the rekindle their friendship. The rekindle was a stiff and a bit bitter at first. Both trying work past their issues to work together with the common goal of the sigil removal. But despite any past grievance from their fallout and the years that followed, they did miss each other company and soon they quickly fell back to the familiarity of their younger years.
Darius is smart, he may not be an expert and recite text books from memory on a lot of things (like Hunter and Alador) but he very intelligent that spread across many subject. He just may not know the exact details or formulas but he gets the gist of things. So I think he finds talking to Alador intellectual stimulating. I have no doubt that Alador reads on complicated subjects (mostly theroized) and has the memory to well, memorized what he read. He typically has no one to share what he finds fascinating. When he tries to share it goes over most people's head or he really has to dumb it down and still people only understand half what he discussing. People are usually not that interested what he wants to share. He finds it so refreshing that he doesn't have to dumb it down for Darius, if he did its rare and only because its super niche or very complicated details. Darius seem to comprehend what being discussed and to Alador delight, seem interest and asked questions. Its stimulating to both of them.
I also think Alador sees the world differently which is a refreshing change of pace for Darius. I have a suspicion that despite Darius scheduling his me time and treating himself, he kept really busy schedule. Alador mellow and go with the flow, so being with Alador, he would end up stopping to smell the flowers or realistically, looking at the colors of the butterfly. Basically, Alador would literally and figuratively lead Darius down an unbeaten path unintentionally as Alador absentmindedly chased a butterfly and have Darius appreciate the small things in life. For example, I have this scenario stuck in my head. When they were little boys, *cue pokemon random encounter music* a wild Boiling Isle bug appeared! Now Darius first instinct is to be disgusted and try to squash the creature out of existence. Alador throw himself between them to protect the little critter. Darius would question why he wouldn't let him get rid of the disgusting thing. Alador, who probably cradling the things fondly like it was a baby would explain it isn't disgusting but beautiful. Then recite all the interesting facts on why the creature so amazing, and its potential. Which convenience Darius to see it in a different light. I think that dynamic happens rather often. I think Darius would be appreciative at the change of perspective.
They still have a minor rivery that they both will poke at each other in a form to egg them on to do something. Which they will because they now have to prove to the other why whether they are rivery-ing on is better. They bicker a lot but its friendly, it almost flirting. Something is wrong if one of them didn't playfully insult, tease or joke about something the other interested in. I also imagine Alador doing small innocent harmless pranks on Darius which Darius would have some type of playful payback revenge later. It so familiar to when they were boys that it keeps them both young as they laugh. The relationship has the comfort of familiarity while having the excitement of being new. I wish them all the happiness!
I completely rambled but I think that's expected at this point.

hii ! any random headcanons for Darius from Sun haven?? honestly anything will do hehe- sorry i’m hyperfixing hard on Sun Haven and Darius is one of my favs ! thanks !
Absolutely!! Thanks for sending an ask, I always love writing things that people request!!
Rating: gen Type: headcanons Words: 444
He's pretty insecure under all the arrogance. That's why he takes his job so seriously. So, he requires a partner who can remind him that he's doing a good job every now and again. (Even if he'll brush it off with a "Of course I'm doing a great job! Why on earth do you think I'd need to hear what I already know?", it still positively impacts him.)
At the same time, he needs someone willing to challenge him. Too often do people just agree with him on the basis of him being the prince, and he needs a break from that. That's why he and Xyla are still friends, because she's never afraid to say when she disagrees with him. The willingness to challenge him might be what draws him to you in the first place. At the start, he probably views it as being annoying and because of you being uncultured, but he secretly really likes when people have the guts to say no to him, especially considering the fact that he carries around a giant sword made out of his Grandpa.
Omg the enemies to lovers with this man would be LEGENDARY. The insults you'd both come up with would be unmatched. Meanwhile, Xyla's sitting at the side enjoying the show because Darius doesn't usually get to have as much fun as when he insults you. This man needs his arrogance called out and stomped on in the most loving way possible.
He's also a workaholic. Please send this man to bed because he will not do it himself. Prepare to fight to get him to sleep, though. No need to make food for him, -although he'd appreciate it- just get him away from his work for a bit, he'll do the rest himself.
Really fond of trying out new hairstyles, even if he can't do it often. He also loves having his nails painted, but sucks at doing them himself.
Expanding on a previous headcanon about how he's not good at being bad at things: He beats himself up easily(internally) if he doesn't do things wonderfully at 1st shot. He never outwardly shows that he's upset with himself, instead opting to display all anger towards something else.
Often struggles with feelings of anxiety around friendships and relationships. Because of his status, a lot of people only want to be his friend or partner for clout or money, so he struggles with feeling like the few friends he has are using him.
He's a master at bottling stuff up, so be prepared to have to break down multiple sets of walls before he even thinks of telling you his thoughts.
___
I hope that was up to your expectations, and again, thanks for sending me an ask, this was a lot of fun. Hope you have a good day.
Likes, comments, and reblogs appreciated.

Darius headcanons please?
If you are Dariuse's friend EberWolf is apart of that deal. EberWolf must approve of you for Darius to be in any sort of relationship with you, friendship included. Darius is apart of EberWolfs pack, therefore by extension so are you. When Darius doesn't have time to be with you EberWolf will follow you around and keep you company. They love to perch on your shoulders or be held in your arms and are surprisingly cuddly despite their feral nature. They give you small gifts they think you'll like and make sure you're not lonely while Darius is away.
Darius has a very strict beauty schedule/regime before the start and end of the day and will not let anything interrupt said schedule. Unless Belos himself comes into his room everything else can wait. That being said he will pull you into his regimen if you promise to take it seriously. He secretly loves to pamper you and has fun relaxing with you before the start or at the end of a stressful day. Pampering includes(not in this order): Painting your nails, styling your hair, doing your makeup, putting masks on your face, massaging your shoulders, and giving you various moisturizers and lotions.
Since he has a busy schedule Darius will send you messages delivered by little abominations. He knows realistically he can't always be around you but because he misses you so much and wants to keep an eye on you or update you on what's happening he'll make these small abomination servants to give you letters or small gifts from him. He loves to hear how you reacted to his little gift and is always pleasantly surprised if you send something back to him. He also thinks it's adorable how you baby the abomination creations and sometimes give them little treats instead of him.
If you are interested in any type of art Darius is very invested and supportive of your work. He loves art and is a bit of an artist himself. If you ask for help he's sitting next to you asking what he can do. If you write he listens to you ramble about your story and gives suggestions when needed. If you draw he'll help come up with ideas or give you tips to help you if your struggling. If you paint he's a little less hands on because of the mess but he loves watching and seeing the final product. As someone with a flair for drama he'd be more than invested in theater or film and would help you run lines/trouble shoot cinematography. If you take photographs he's more than willing to model (same with drawing/painting/sculpting). Play any instruments/sing? He loves music and will listen to your practice for hours. If you're a dancer you can bet he'll sweep you off your feet in no time. Whatever hobbies you have he does his best to be supportive and will give you the financial means to do whatever your heart desires.
For someone who is a germaphobe and keeps on his gloves to avoid messes/touching anything dirty he is very touchy. He loves to either tuck you under his chin and put his head on top of yours as his arms wrap around you or nuzzle into your neck and lean on your shoulder as hes waking up. He's very cuddly in the mornings and a little goopy so be warned. Darius always wants to have you near him and his hand is always on your hip, shoulder, or in your hair when you're close. He also enjoys intertwining his fingers with yours and pressing your hand to his cheek or his forehead against your forehead. If you're somewhere private he'll gently kiss your knuckles or forehead as well. He wants you to know how much he cares for you and touch is one of his love languages even if he'll deny it.
Bonus: Darius has a huge sweet tooth but only gives in and eats them when he's super stressed or you baked/bought him something to enjoy

Roleplaying/Writing
My favorite muse(s) of theirs and why: I don't really know the other muses. I've heard a bit on Charis but really I know more about Ray. Plus he's the only one I've interacted with, so pretty sure he wins out here.
My favorite interaction/thread of theirs: Riley's mun already knows too, I love Ray and Riley interacting honestly. Monkey brain is just like ":O Aussie Aussie Aussie :DDD"
My thoughts on their unique characterization/interpretation of their muse(s): "I just think they're neat!" Okay but the tracking bit to Ray's powers is real cool. Also his relationship with "Charis" is also quite brilliant imo.
My thoughts on their writing style as a whole: Sometimes it's a bit overwhelming, the amount of information in their writing. But that also probably comes from starting things with them more than writing further along the line and all.
Situation(s)/Plot(s) I’d love to see their muse(s) in: I don't think I follow closely enough to have something specific to their muses but in general, I think it's time to read growth. I see a lot on muses struggling and their grief is great as someone that loves some good angst. But now that we're all reaching rock bottom, it's time to see them get better before they fall again. I wanna see Ray be a badass. Go into the field be successful. At least think he's successful. Then it can blow up and we can see him come to terms with that. And that's when he really grows. When he comes out of that.
Someone else I love seeing them interact with: Well I've already mentioned Riley. I think JJ interactions with Ray are good too. I haven't followed closely on that but what I remember seeing, I remember being "Aww" or "Ooo".
Anything else I want to say about their roleplaying: Just that I look forward to seeing more. Especially with Riley. Sorry it just brings me so much joy.
If We Know Each Other
What I Think Are Their Best Qualities: Hm. I don't think I know them well enough for this one
What I Think Are Their Strengths: The same here. I will say though that all our interactions IC and OOC have all been pleasant. Also as I said before, I think they've got some cool ideas.
A Memorable OOC Interaction Of Ours: Plotting our most recent thread was fun!
Why Others Should RP With Them: They're nice and I think they're neat. What more do you need?
How Others Should Approach Them: I imagine memes or inbox starters are a great place to shart
Other Roleplayers I’d Recommend To Them: Connor ( @detectiveconnor ) for Ray for detective / PI things, Joe ( @heartxshaped-bruises ) and Charis for “taking care of business” aka contract killer / mafia type stuff, Swift ( @diicktective ) and Ray once again for detective / PI things chaotic stylez
Anything else I want to say about them: Uhh I dunno. I mean I'd totally recommend writing with them too
If We Have/Plan To Interact Together
A plot I’d like to write with them: Something with Max definitely. We've been meaning to do that. Maybe they meet through Riley and they start using so much slang he's just ??? Oh oh! Max making desserts and things for them too! Lamingtons was it? Not a serious plot but still something!
A muse I want to introduce to them: Since I already talked about Max, Oliver is another one. Or!! Darius on my other multi when if I ever get him finished up for Charis for crime things
A ship/broship I’d like to propose to them: Hmm I mean I think we might've talked about Eira and Ray?
A thread with them I’m excited about: Definitely really excited to get that U.mbrella A.cademy thread going. I've been dying to use that verse and I think the plot is really cool too and especially how Eira and Ray will be do similar but different and that'll just be interesting to explore
Anything else I want to say: I totally want to talk to you more so hopefully we get to! :)

Any Sport in a Storm
Listen I didn't get the time to do this w the last 2 eps (even though I had a lot of thoughts and feelings believe me) but I'll do it now bc this episode was so cute? And it surprised me too! Let's see
all the coven heads ignoring him is unsurprising, tho Raine hesitating didn't escape me. even under Terra's control they seem a bit concerned
Belos being like a single working parent leaving notes on the fridge or smth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so. the old golden guard sigil is also the Gravesfield sigil? I already had noticed it looks similar to the Emperor's coven symbol but the bird's wings are more closed. thinking...
grown witches let's stop bullying the literal teenager
"Little Prince" is the cutest nickname ever and if Darius is the closest thing Hunter will get to a mentor figure I love the idea of it going from a condescending name to an affectionate one. I love it
seems Darius and Eber are very involved in Belos plans? what are they doing
Darius knew the previous Golden Guard? He was his mentor?? There was a previous Golden Guard???
So I was wondering how or why he would be sent to Hexide, turns out it wasn't Belos idea at all. Makes sense
Willow is an absolute badass and I love her YES GIRL GO
like SHE'S SO POWERFUL god
HER DADS? awww jock nerd family!
Tumblr media
Luz dropping all the books really got me for some reason. my child
"spill it hermosa!"
I suspected Luz and Amity would be busy elsewhere, and really enjoyed their B plot! Theorizing just like us about the mysterious person, the answer was the simpler option
I had assumed Eda had brought the books and sold them at some point. It was smth like that but without Eda lol
Tiny Nose has a name now also? good for her
To the surprise of no one, he sucks at interacting with other kids but this is even worse than expected lmao authority! and rules!!
heck yea Jerbo fight the system!
Professor Homunculus is a big jerk. tho we already knew that
Glad our boi Hunter gets to show off a little with the flying skills, he's had a, uh, rough season. He also got attacked by Puddles
I thought Caleb was the name of the museum guy obsessed with witches but it was actually Jacob generic english man names got me confused my bad
"hm, I don't feel sick" oh you clueless child
Gus being suspicious and protective I love my son
Tumblr media
the Best and the Brightest I love them
Two "half-a-witch" witches huh? Loved the parallel but also ouch. Guess that's a common insult for kids who struggle with magic which is yikes
Skara tactical genius hell yeah!
"now I'm only scarred emotionally ;)" girl omg
I hope Viney and Jerbo can reconcile after this. He looked terrified lmao we take sports very serious here
I love Hunter's teleporting technique. sneaky boi
Tumblr media
TEAM SPORTS. TEAM SPIRIT. Hunter making friends!! and he came up with the team name! Cute and creative
"Icepack for Steve"
seems training for the emperor's coven is brutal. Yet to hunter it's whatever lmao oh boy
also one free day a year.... yikes
Darius pushing Hunter to make choices for himself let's gooo
Tumblr media
Boop
and he gave him a phone scroll thingy 😭 which means he can keep in touch. Typing like an old man
I hope he won't get in trouble for it but Belos is ancient af he probably thinks social media is the real dark magic so he'll never see it I guess
sewing is indeed a very helpful skill to have
so third time was the charm, after Luz then Amity tried to reach out it seems Willow and her team might be his first real friends!
what's his username I need to know
I already liked Darius as a fabulous jerk and antagonist but now I'm super interested to see more of him
also his past with Amity's dad SPILL THE TEA! bitter exes? former besties? rivals since forever? is it a one sided aggression thing? please I need it
and he follows him on social media just to scoff and mute him, petty king
obsessed with Amity and Luz showing up at the end like oh did we miss anything imporWHAT
Little Prince!!
So yeah, very cute and fun over all, and revealed more than I expected. S2 has been fantastic non stop. Glad Hunter got to have some fun bc I feel he won't for too long
oh, spoilers for the upcoming episode synopsis:
So next week we'll have Amity and Luz focus, and it seems Amity wants to impress her dad so we might get more Darius too! Show me the handsome witch again!! Not expecting to see Hunter next week but maybe more Willow and Gus. I love them. I do hope we keep seeing the Emeralds hanging out in the future as a club and having practice and playing matches, idk. also show them talking w hunter through the scrolls? it'd be cute

@fullheartedlyprovocative
Very good point! Many people who aren’t from the UK are probably not aware of the impending disaster that is Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
I keep describing him as a clown, incompetent and overall destructive to society as a whole, but i’ve failed to go into detail. And the reason is simple: There’s just far too much to cover in a concise and efficient way. It is very literally a massive rabbit hole that knows no end.
But i should probably collate some of his more memorable moments, so that everyone can get a rough idea about who he is exactly and why we’re all dead inside.
Bojo is often described as clownish, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s harmless. He’s as Machiavellian as a politician can get, and he weaponises his clownish behaviour in order to cover up his corruption. He has this down to an Art.
A recent example of his perception manipulation:
During the Brexit referendum, Boris was heavily campaigning for Leave, and he infamously commissioned a big red Bus with this message on it, claiming that the 350 million currently going to EU membership will be redirected to the UKs NHS (National Health Service), this was a massive deal and fueled the leave campaign.
Tumblr media
This was also a massive lie, and he was (rightly) hated for it.
The Bus Lie hung over Boris long after the referendum. When you’d type up Boris Johnson on Google, it would suggest the Bus scandal as an auto-complete search, bringing up countless articles on the lie that had clearly tarnished Boris’ reputation.
However, during the leadership campaign, Boris did something extraordinary. While being interviewed about his leadership bid, he was asked what he does for fun. This was his response:
youtube
Hilarious. Ridiculous. Blustering. Making it up as he went along. It quickly became an interview widely mocked across social media and news outlets. Why did he make himself sound like such an idiot? Why buses? This is why:
Tumblr media
He is not only immune to being mocked, he has weaponised it to cover up his biggest controversies. Typing up “Boris Johnson Bus” now yields funny clips of him struggling to get through an interview talking about painting little buses. His Bus Scandal has almost been entirely pushed out of the picture.
That is only the tip of the Boris shaped iceberg.
His clowning has gotten him national and international mockery. Who can forget that time Boris (while Mayor of London) got stuck on a zip-line because he was too heavy?
Tumblr media
Or that time that he got overly competitive in a game of rugby against kids and tackled a child.
Tumblr media
Or that time during a recent Leadership debate where he pulled out a literal Kipper and waved it about, declaring that “we will get our Kippers BACK when we leave the EU!”
Tumblr media
What a silly man. How completely harmless he must be.
Well while the nation struggles to get these images out of their heads, collectively we have forgotten many of his greatest sins.
One sin still hangs above him... An ongoing scandal that has endangered the life of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.
In 2017 Nazanin had travelled to Iran from the UK to visit her parents, when she was detained by authorities under suspicion of coming to Iran in order to train journalists. In 2017 when Boris was Foreign Secretary and during Nazanins trial, Boris made this statement to the news:
“When I look at what Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was doing, she was simply teaching people journalism, as I understand it,”
This was considered damning evidence that was used against Nazanin. She is still imprisoned today. Her husband in the UK has been tirelessly campaigning for her release, going on a joint hunger-strike with her. Boris refuses to take any responsibility for his comments or apologise for what he has caused.
This isn’t the first or last time Boris has been reckless with his words.
Very recently, Sir Kim Darroch (the UKs (now former) ambassador to the US) suffered a memo leak, in which unflattering remarks regarding Donald Trumps presidency surfaced. The leak was unfortunate, but the comments made were not unprofessional and entirely expected from a foreign diplomat. But Trump wasn’t happy and applied pressure to the UK government to fire Darroch for doing his job. The entire UK government united behind Darroch and supported him...... well... almost the entire government. During a live debate, the final two leadership candidates were asked about the Darroch situation, and whether Darroch would remain in his job if they become PM. Boris refused to comment and avoided the question as usual. However since Boris was the favourite to win, Darroch realised he had no hope, so he resigned. Boris was cited as the main reason and was widely criticised.
Before Boris was a politician, he was a journalist. And in recent years, a very unsavoury recording surfaced from his time as a Journalist in 1990...A phone recording between him and Darius Guppy, where the two conspired to have a reporter physically hurt. (Somehow this is the only youtube video available on this...)
youtube
Boris has also been known to have absolutely no filter and speaks before he thinks. Such comments are a result of this.
He had referred to black people as “Piccaninnies” with “watermelon smiles”
In 2018 he had referred to Muslim women wearing burkas as looking like “letter-boxes”
At a conference on Libya in 2017 he claimed that the country could become a thriving luxury resort once they “cleared the dead bodies away”
In 2013 he claimed that Malyasian women went to University because they “have to find men to marry”
In 2006 he claimed that Barack Obama had an “ancestral dislike of the British empire – of which Churchill had been such a fervent defender”
All of this... and we haven’t even covered his politics yet.
This is the big reason why he’s becoming PM and it’s simple. He’s lying to everyone.
He’s promising everything to everyone. He’s promised a soft brexit to some, a hard brexit to others. But he refuses to explain how he would achieve either. He’s only now clearly settling on the side of a hard-brexit, or what’s considered a No-Deal brexit (walking away from the EU without striking a trade deal), but he has no answers for any questions posed to him.
His debating strategy, and interview strategy is to make people laugh until they forget what they asked him.
When asked "Is austerity a dead duck at this point?” he ended up rambling about ducks for a solid minute and making the audience giggle before giving a very vague and nothing answer
When debating with leadership rival Jeremy Hunt, he won over the audiences heart by interrupting Hunt with immature jokes.
After declaring that he knows exactly what he’s doing in regards to a No-Deal brexit, he tells everyone that he will follow “Paragraph 5B” of a document that will supposedly solve the Brexit crisis. He repeats “Paragraph 5B” constantly, giving the impression that he’s a man of detail and knows the entire document like the back of his hand. When asked if he knew what was in Paragraph 5C, he simply states “no” and tries to play it off like it’s funny. Without a studio audience to laugh at him, he was simply left in the silence of an astounded interviewer. This is one of the many reasons why he had avoided as many interviews as possible during his leadership campaign.
The fact is, no one knows what he really stands for, no one knows what he’ll really do. He’s a wild-card, or more appropriately, the Joker card. He seems crazy enough and chaotic enough to go through with No-Deal that people are voting for him. But so many people are going to be disappointed. This is a man who says he’s always wanted to be Prime Minister ever since he was 15. He wants power for the sake of power. And for some reason, the Tory party are handing him that power.
There’s so much more to go into, but this is a good initial crash-course into Bojo, the literal clown.

― READ MORE FOR KYLA'S INTRODUCTION.
― BASICS.
Name: Kyla Carrillo
Age: 36
D.O.B.: 28th April 1985
Gender: Cis female
Pronouns: She/her
Sexuality: Bisexual
Relationship status: Single
Hometown: Miami, Florida
Affiliation: The Leroy family
Role: Head of Illegal Gambling/Bets
Occupation: Manager at High Rollers
― BACKGROUND.
For most of Kyla's life, it was just her and her father. Her mother, unfortunately, struggled with alcohol and drug addiction, and barely managed to stay sober during her pregnancy. She tried to settle down and be a mother, but Kyla was only eight months old when she left. The note said she had made a mistake, she was too young to be a mom.
Winston Carrillo tried his best to raise his child as a single father but at times he struggled to keep his head afloat. Money was soon becoming an issue but he refused to accept loans from his friends and family. He was stubborn to his core (which is probably where Kyla gets it from).
Luckily, he was best friends with Darius Leroy. They were unlikely friends, but they had attended the same college and had almost been inseparable since. Darius soon became aware of Winston's money situation, and quickly offered him a job. Only it wasn't honourable work, it involved money laundering through Winston's business. He had always possessed an odd moral compass at the best of times anyway thanks to his own upbringing, and took Darius up on the offer immediately.
Because of this, Kyla largely grew up around the Leroy family and now considers them practically her own family. Because of Darius' job offer, Winston was able to take care of his daughter properly and move them into a better house. He was able to afford nicer things, and was able to spoil Kyla with the things he thought she deserved.
Life within the organisation is all Kyla has ever really known and so it only felt natural that after attending college, she progressed into working for them too. She had been the Head of Illegal Gambling/Bets for 4 years, and the manager at High Rollers for 7 years.
Some would say Kyla is a workaholic and this is absolutely true. You will always find her with her phone in her hand, either typing a message or checking her emails. After decades of loyalty and service to the Leroy family, both she and Winston have enough money to retire now and live very comfortably but make no mistake, Kyla will walk around in old Dr Martens but wear a designer bag on her shoulder.
She has tried love several times, but all of her relationships have failed for one reason or another. Either they don't like that she works for the Leroy family, or they don't like that she works too much. Or she doesn't like that they think they can change her. One relationship resulted in a pregnancy, and she does have a son who is 4 years old. Kyla shares custody with his father and they alternate each week who cares for him.
― CONNECTION IDEAS.
Friends/best friends: Kyla might come off as someone who is a) too busy and/or b) finds you boring, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have a handful of close friendships. She likes to relax at night with a glass (bottle) of wine in her fine silk pyjamas while eating things with too many carbs in, so she needs besties for this. Don't get it twisted though - she will absolutely tell it how it is, even if you don't want to hear it.
Friends from college: College years are always fun, so this is when Kyla would've really explored who she is, and who she isn't. She studied business so she could follow the footsteps of her father and take over the business one day, but found more interest in the illegal gambling side of the organisation. So yeah, friends she met in college please!
Exes: Either full on relationships or just simple flings are welcome! Kyla isn't entirely sure if she even believes in love because of her abandonment issues (thanks mom), but that doesn't mean she hasn't tried relationships. Some have lasted longer than others, but they all ultimately end for one reason or another. Obviously this would be entirely dependent on what we plot.
Father of her child: So she definitely loved this man, absolutely still loves him but will not give him the satisfaction of knowing that. This was her longest relationship, she fell pregnant and he proposed to her immediately. It was all falling into place as it was supposed to and it was wonderful and idyllic. But only for a short while. They were arguing constantly before they even made it down the aisle, and decided to call it quits before Kyla had given birth. They had a brief few months apart but found their way back to one another and gave things another go just before their son was born. They lasted another two years but ended things a second time.

I love this job more than I imagined I could. The day I stop giving it my all is the day I walk away.”
–John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), 2×14 “Casualties”
The quote above really encapsulates the draw of ABC’s police dramedy (that’s drama-comedy) The Rookie. The Nathan Fillion led series was ordered back in spring 2018, and aired its first season from 2018-2019. It’s currently in its second season, with a new episode airing this Sunday, April 26. In light of that – and because I’ve since managed to get 2 of my friends hooked on it – I decided I’d write up a few reasons as to why you should definitely check out this show…if you haven’t already!
Reason #1: The cast
Tumblr media
(ABC/Andrew Eccles)
Yes, Nathan Fillion of ABC’s Castle headlines the series, but there’s a whole slew of cast members that carry the show just the same. Not to mention, you’ve probably seen them on other TV shows or films prior to their appearance on The Rookie.
CURRENT CAST (as of season 2–onward):
Nathan Fillion portrays John Nolan, the 45-year-old “rookie” who decided to pack up and move to LA to join the LAPD after a robbery at his local bank in Pennsylvania made him question his life decisions. You’ve probably seen him on: Castle, Firefly, Two Guys & a Girl, and/or Con Man.
Alyssa Diaz portrays Angela Lopez, one of three TOs (training officers) at the Mid-Wilshire Police Department in Los Angeles, California. You’ve probably seen her in: As the World Turns, Army Wives, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, and/or Ray Donovan.
Richard T. Jones portrays Sergeant Wade Grey, who is the immediate boss of the TOs, and is also responsible for their rookies, as well as the remainder of the police under his command at the station. You’ve probably seen him in: Judging Amy, Why Did I Get Married?/Why Did I Get Married Too?, and/or Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Titus Makin Jr. portrays Jackson West, the second in the trio of rookies. His father is the head of LAPD’s Internal Affairs, so he’s struggled some with having to prove himself outside of his father’s shadow. You’ve probably seen him in: Glee, Starcrossed, Pretty Little Liars, and/or The Path.
Melissa O’Neil portrays Lucy Chen, the 28-year-old hotshot who completes the trio of rookies in the LAPD. She decided to become a cop on a whim, but she loves it so much now, even though it’s the opposite of what her psychologist parents want her to do career-wise. You’ve probably seen her in/on: Canadian Idol, Dark Matter, and/or as a part of the Broadway musical Les Miserables.
Eric Winter portrays Tim Bradford, the second training officer under Sgt. Grey. He’s first seen as the no-nonsense type, but has since softened some during season 2. You’ve probably seen him in: The Mentalist, Witches of East End, The Ugly Truth, and/or Days of Our Lives.
Mekia Cox portrays Nyla Harper, a former undercover detective turned training officer. She’s quite a badass, and does whatever she can to excel at work, as it’ll earn points in her favor, because she’s fighting for custody of her daughter with her ex-husband. You’ve probably seen her in: 90210, Chicago Med, Secrets & Lies, and/or Once Upon a Time.
CURRENT RECURRING CAST (as of season 2–onward):
Tumblr media
Image Credits: (ABC/Christopher Willard); (ABC/Richard Cartwright); and (ABC/Eric McCandless)
Ali Larter as Dr. Grace Sawyer, a former flame of John’s from his college days. She now works at Shaw Memorial Hospital, and while she and John reconnect as just friends first, they eventually ramp it up to dating.
Harold Perrineau as Detective Nick Armstrong, a new night detective that assists the LAPD with their case load after their regular shifts. He becomes involved more so when notorious serial killer Rosalind Dyer is brought to Grey’s station per a deal with the DA.
Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, a lawyer that is currently dating Angela Lopez. The two have been living together since the start of season 2, and are now engaged as of episode 16.
Jasmine Matthews as Rachel Hall, a social worker who is one of Lucy’s best friends, and currently the girlfriend of Tim Bradford.
Daniel Lissing as Sterling Freeman, Jackson’s boyfriend who’s (ironically? meta-ly?) the star of a cop show, Hot Suspect.
Sarah Shahi as Jessica Russo, who is an FBI agent that was brought in to work a biological terror attack. She and John have a brief relationship, but break it off by episode 6 of season 2.
FORMER CAST (season 1):
Mercedes Mason portrayed Captain Zoe Andersen, who was the tough but fair captain of the LAPD. She believed Nolan’s life experience would be good for the department. She was killed in episode 16 by a gang member who made an attempt on Nolan’s life.
Afton Williamson portrayed Talia Bishop, Nolan’s former training officer. She came off as brash at first, but she did help John a lot during his first six months on the job. She left the LAPD for a job with ATF; Afton exited the series after season 1 ended.
FORMER RECURRING CAST (season 1):
Mircea Monroe as Isabel Bradford, Tim’s ex-wife. She was an undercover officer, but got hooked onto drugs which made her lose her job, and consequently, her husband. Tim tried to help her numerous times, but they’d been estranged for a year. She did finally get clean; but they decided it’d be best to separate, as Tim did not want to remind her of her old life.
Michael Beach as Commander Percy West, Jackson’s father who runs Internal Affairs for the LAPD. He and his son had their tough moments, but the two seemed to have reconciled in the season 1 finale after Jackson’s heroic efforts to stop a viral criminal.
*random fun fact: Mekia’s not the only one with a One Chicago tie-in. Alyssa Diaz actually worked with Chicago PD actor Jesse Lee Soffer on As the World Turns, and Michael Beach actually just finished a recurring role on Chicago PD as Darius Walker. Joelle Carter, who portrayed Shawn Christian’s character’s wife in the “Hawke” episode, has been on not one, but 3 One Chicago shows. Two of which portraying Laura Nagel (Chicago PD for 1 episode, and the spinoff Chicago Justice); she guested on Chicago Med this year.
Just wanted to toss that tidbit in there since quite a few fans of The Rookie have also been fans of the One Chicago franchise – at least that I’ve interacted with on social media!
Reason #2: The balance of dramatic cases with humorous banter between the officers
Tumblr media
(ABC/Ron Batzdorff)
Tumblr media
(ABC/Ron Batzdorff)
While The Rookie is no means a straight comedy, it’s also not technically a classic police procedural either. That’s a good thing, as the balance of the lighter comedic moments interspersed with the dramatic or sometimes gruesome cases is what makes the show so damn entertaining. Oh, and did I mention there are bloopers? Because there are bloopers, and they are hilarious. Click here & here to see those!!
Reason #3: The pairs (TOs & Rookies)
Tumblr media
(ABC/Ron Batzdorff)
Ah yes, another reason why The Rookie works so well. The pairings of the training officers with their respective rookie is spot-on. In season 1 you had the new, upbeat, John Nolan paired with spunky Talia Bishop; and the two bounced off each other quite nicely. John’s new TO, Nyla Harper, is just as sassy, if not sassier than Talia, but in a way, she’s a little more grounded, as she has a young daughter to consider. That’s something they have in common, as John has a 20 year old son, Henry.
Tumblr media
(ABC/Christopher Willard)
Another pair is Angela Lopez and Jackson West. Sure, you would think: oh, here are two ambitious, young, intelligent people, so they should feed off each other, right? Wrong…at least not at first. And that’s what was so refreshing about it. Was that you had the push-and-pull between them that made you wonder if West could really stick it out with Lopez. He eventually did get over his “stage fright” when gunfire was occurring, but it took time; and it was realistic to see Angela be tough, yet understanding with him when it came to things like that. Not to mention, Jackson’s helped her out on the relationship front a few times, as he’s listened to her issues with dating, and Wesley. He even was the one who put the idea of a proposal in her head when they were at a stakeout! The two are really jiving, and it’s fun to see!
Tumblr media
(ABC/Christopher Willard)
Last but not least is the duo of Bradford and Chen. They couldn’t be more opposite from each other at first glance: you’ve got tough-as-nails Tim, who’s got to train positive, spirited Lucy. Sounds like a little bit of a clash, right? It seemed like it at first, as Tim was very tough on Lucy; but he’s since let down his guard a little, which has been cool to see. He’s balanced out Lucy’s energy, and the two have since been so in-sync, it’s a little crazy at times (but in the best way possible)!
Reason #4: The “ships” (couples) of the show

Ah yes, the part that a lot of fans (myself included!) love about our favorite TV shows: the couples that pair off in it! It’s also worth mentioning that fans usually get excited about “should be” couples aka: people that they think should be together/dating/a couple/etc.
As far as The Rookie goes, there are actually quite a few well-established couples on the show, especially in season 2! If you need or want a quick season 1 refresher: Tim was technically still married to his now ex-wife, Isabel; Jackson had a brief relationship with Gino; Angela and Wesley had begun dating; and yes, John & Lucy had a brief thing early on!
Now, for season 2, you’ve got: Jackson & Sterling; Tim & Rachel; Wesley & Angela; John & Grace (John was previously dating Jessica); aaaaaaand the fan-favorite should-be couple: Tim & Lucy. The final “couple” is actually how I got hooked onto The Rookie – thank you social media for all the #Chenford/#Tucy hashtags!!
Most everyone loves these relationships because they’re fun, endearing, dramatic, and sometimes even a little bit funny. It’s quite a nice counterbalance to all the death and destruction the LAPD encounters on the streets everyday, you know? Plus, who hasn’t found a couple on a show that they like a lot, right? It’s fun to interact with other fans about it too – which is part of the reason why “ships” are really effective.
Jackson and Sterling have that lovely push-and-pull dynamic, where, since Sterling’s a celebrity, and Jackson’s a cop, they had to keep it low-key at first. But now, since they’re technically out of the spotlight, they’re free to do as they please.
Tim and Rachel originally began as a bet, but, it turned into something more afterwards. Even though the two have had their little disagreements here and there, it’s been really interesting to see Tim open himself up to a new relationship after his wife in season 1. The fact that Rachel’s one of Lucy’s best friends is…beside the point. Although, for fans of Chenford/Tucy, it’s kind of comical, or ironic. I’m not quite sure which.
Speaking of Chenford, Tim & Lucy are the ones that fans have been clamoring to get together – even though technically, nothing can happen between the two until Lucy’s no longer a rookie (Tim’s her TO!). I’ll admit, I was originally intrigued by them because of their similarities to another “should-be” cop couple I ship: Upstead from Chicago PD; but, seeing how in-sync the partners are on The Rookie, I understand why everyone wants them to be more than that. I sure do!
Wesley and Angela have been steady since season 1, and his heartbreaking PTSD storyline in season 2 only brought them closer together, and showed just how strong of a relationship they have. Angela’s been super supportive, and Wesley’s always been confident in her abilities. They’re even the couple to beat in terms of major milestones: they’ve moved in together, and they’re engaged! YAY!
John and Grace were a little bit of a wildcard at the start, since they had a little bit of a history there. But, ever since they blossomed into friends, their transition into a relationship was relatively easy. It’s been nice to see John happy, and Grace seems to be really good for him right now.
Reason #5: The vibe behind the scenes
Tumblr media
(ABC/Troy Harvey)
Last, but not least is the “vibe” behind the scenes of The Rookie. That includes the off-set antics the cast gets up to! It’s been really fun to scour social media and see their comments on not only The Rookie account, but on fan things too! The cast is also great about liking comments and posts that fans make, which is super-nice!
Not to mention, they’re just genuinely fun people – at least judging from their behind the scenes posts and on-set videos! From car sing-a-longs to random dance parties, there’s never a dull moment on The Rookie set! They’re such good sports. Not only does that camaraderie come through onscreen, but it helps the chemistry to translate nicely as well. Believability is part of what sells TV, and The Rookie has that skill down pat!
Bonus: Favorite Episodes So Far / Ones To Watch
Tumblr media
Image Credits: (ABC/Richard Cartwright) and (ABC/Christopher Willard)
Note: this is just my own personal list, but if you have any more to add, feel free to comment! 🙂 PS: Season 2 is available for streaming on ABC.com or Hulu; season 1 is not, but there are a bevy of clips online (YouTube) which can help catch you up!
The Pilot, of course! 1×01, and then the kind-of-sort-of subsequent follow-up 1×02 “Crash Course”
1×04 “The Switch”
1×07 “The Ride Along” & 1×08 “Time of Death”
1×14 “Plain Clothes Day” and 1×15 “Manhunt”
1×19 “The Checklist” and 1×20 “Free Fall” (the season 1 finale)
2×01 “Impact” (picks up right after season 1 leaves off!)
2×03 “The Bet” and 2×04 “Warriors and Guardians” (which is Mekia’s debut!)
2×06 “Fallout” and 2×08 “Clean Cut”
2×10 “The Dark Side” and 2×11 “Day of Death” *you should definitely watch these back-to-back, as 2×10 serves as the midseason finale; 2×11 is the midseason premiere*
2×12 “Now and Then”; 2×16 “The Overnight”; and 2×17 “Control”
That’s all for me for now! 5 (or 6, if you count the dramatic episodes!) reasons to watch The Rookie! You can catch all-new episodes on ABC, Sunday nights at 10/9 c! Be sure you’re following the show on Twitter and/or Instagram so you can see fun behind the scenes content, not to mention live-tweet during tomorrow’s all-new episode! Hope ya’ll liked this post!

Twenty-eight books read in 2019.  Sixteen longlisted books.  One person who wastes his time writing sh*t as if they really matter.
Here it is.  The best books I read in the past year.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
The unfortunate books that I had to let go since I only had ten spots to fill.
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green (2017)

10th Place
56 by Bob Ong (2018)
Rating: 4.300
Bob Ong makes a comeback on my list with his latest novel.  His other book, Si, ranked 10th last 2015.  This is the second time a Filipino book enters the list and is also the second nonfiction book ever—after Into the Wild last 2016.
In his latest release, Ong returns to the writing style that made him famous— reminiscent of his earlier books like ABNKKBSNPLAko.  56 is like a 300-page commentary or editorial about the issues of the present Filipino generation.
Other readers have found the book a little too preachy.  I find it enlightening as it serves as a wake-up call to the Filipinos who are turning their blindsides to the harsh realities of our nation.

Mga Kirot ng Kapalaran (Kikomachine Komix blg. 11) by Manix Abrera (2015)
Rating: 4.445
This is a long-overdue recognition to my favorite comic strip artist (Fun Fact: I met him quite a few times already).  For many years, I've ignored the chance to even put his works in the list of contenders.  I'm not throwing it away again.  Now, I have my first book to enter the top 10 classified under comics and graphic novels.
In this collection of strips by Manix Abrera, his work remains as humorous and as satirically laughable as the first time I saw his comic. Themes have changed to reflect the new trends and issues of our present society.
For as long as Manix draws and publishes his work, I will continue to read them as I know he gives an intellectual yet amusing input to our society's problems.

Mga Batang Poz by Segundo Matias, Jr. (2018)
Rating: 4.450
“Beautiful and relevant, but not flawless,” this is what I said on my review for this YA novel.
Mga Batang Poz is the third Filipino book on this list.  Having three books on the list is a first.  Furthermore, this is also the first time in four years that a Filipino book enters the list.
As previously mentioned, I have certain problems with regard to the overarching narrative of the novel.  I wish that Matias could’ve written something more elaborate or something that doesn’t feel forced.
Nevertheless, the book accomplishes its goal of being a story that advocates HIV awareness, especially towards the youth.

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate (2012)
Rating: 4.485
In this book, you'll see both the cruelty and the compassion of humanity through the eyes of a gorilla named Ivan who is the narrator of the story.
Ivan is based on a real-life gorilla who was being used as a live animal attraction in Zoo Atlanta.
It is quite obvious that the book is meant for a younger audience, but despite this, I know anyone of any age will be able to appreciate it.  Ivan is a gorilla after all, and I think the simplicity of how it was written suits his character, making the tone of the story more natural.
Overall, it was very touching.  Although it mirrors pretty much what happened to the real-life Ivan, it efficiently delivers its message for animal welfare.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (1939)
Rating: 4.525
This is a mystery novel filled with suspense and everything that'll make you love and hate it at the same time.  The horror it gives chills you to the bone for every page you turn.
Agatha Christie is insane—and I mean that in a good way.  The plot was so well-thought out that even when nearing at the end, I had no clue who the culprit was.  When it was revealed to me, I was like, “Yeah.  That makes absolute f*cking sense.”
For a book that has ten major characters, it does well in handling them.  You know when a piece of literature is brilliantly made when even if its length isn’t considerably long, it doesn’t sacrifice the characters’ backgrounds and the narrative of the story.
Despite the novel’s inhumane and despicable acts, it also addresses issues about criminal injustices that are still prevalent today.  In our country alone, criminals—corrupt officials, master drug dealers, rapists, murderers—are still roaming around the streets, evading the consequences of their actions.   At times when the law is not enforced properly, people resort to their own type of justice.

Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram (2018)
Rating: 4.590
In this debut novel by Adib Khorram, the titular character Darius suffers from clinical depression.  Also, he's a Star Trek and Lord of the Rings fan.
This book demonstrates the fact that real depression is not simply cured by positive reinforcement and bible verses—as what most overly religious people think.
The novel highlights Darius' relationship with the other characters—most especially with Sohrab.  It shows how he copes up with them while he struggles with his mental disorder.
There are also subtle hints of homosexuality, which added to the overall tension of the story since the main characters are Muslims.  It wasn't blatant but it was obviously present—in the right and necessary amount.
To me, this is a spiritual brother of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz—one of my favorite books.  It gave me the same feeling of awe, beautiful pain, and joyful nostalgia. There were parts that broke my heart—I was ugly crying while riding a bus—and by the end, I was a complete mess, although I'm utterly happy.

4th Place
Moonrise by Sarah Crossan (2017)
Rating: 4.595
What I love most about this book is how it was written.  Instead of being in paragraphs, it was written in verses—like poetry.  I thought it was creative and oddly fitting for the story.
Even though there are more blank spaces on the pages than letters, those words are enough to draw me into the story.
The novel is about Ed whose brother was up on death row.  I found myself rooting for him, and I was hoping similarly to how he was hoping in the story.  When the end came, I couldn't help myself from closing my eyes.
The narrative was fairly simple, it matches the way it was written.  The characters—although few and also written with the utmost simplicity—feel so human and are not flat, cardboard cutouts.
In the light of all the flawed justice systems and abuses of law enforcers not just in America but everywhere else in the world, it's good to find a book that's bold enough to address such issues and an author who's brave enough to write them.
Lots of murderers are on the loose, yet there are innocent people being slaughtered for crimes they didn't commit.

3rd Place
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas (2018)
Rating: 4.605
Just when you thought Angie Thomas couldn't write anything as good as The Hate U Give (THUG), she gives us this.  If it's not better, then it sure is as brilliant as her debut novel.
This is Thomas' second consecutive year in my list, with THUG bagging the top plum last year.
The novel is proof of Thomas’s writing prowess.  It successfully immersed me into the life of her protagonist, a life filled with hope, angst, and ambition.  And the dialogue… Especially the rap battles.  They were amazing.  Seeing as Thomas herself was a rapper, you can feel the ingenuity in her words.
Moreso, this is one book that we really need in our present times.  It reflects all of my sentiments regarding social media and how it can make or break a person.  And how much the oppressed and marginalized communities lack representation, and how they are still subject to much prejudice.
━━━━ ☆ ━━━━
2nd Place
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (2007)
Rating: 4.680
This beautiful novel demonstrates the horror of domestic violence towards women.  It also provides a glimpse of the people and culture of Afghanistan during the times of war.
I'm in love with how Khaled Hosseini's characters flesh out from the pages.  You'd love them.  You'd care for them.  Their agony becomes yours.  Their pain drips out from the corners of the books as your tears trail down your cheeks.
And on their sweet, small victories, you'd give a sigh of relief as the anxiety is slowly drained from your body.
In the two years that I've read a book by Hosseini, it didn't fail to shatter my heart. The Kite Runner ranked first in my 2017 list, and now this. If ever get to read another one of his books, I've no doubt it will also be a contender for that year's list.
━━━━ ☆ ━━━━
1st Place
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman (2018)
Rating: 4.765
This book is also up on my shelf for the best sequels ever—be it for any medium.
I read this earlier this year and it remained unbeatable until 2019 ended.
This is the second book in Neal Shusterman's Arc of a Scythe trilogy, the sequel to Scythe—which placed 3rd in my 2017 list.
Growth and expansion. These are the things I love about the sequel.  Ronan and Citra, the two main protagonists of the trilogy, are older, wiser, and better people, despite the fact that they're teenagers.  You can feel their struggles with their respective endeavors.
Also, the universe is bigger.  The Arc of Scythe novels feature a world where death does not exist and everyone is biologically immortal.  In order to balance the earth’s population, there are these so-called Scythes whose life-long job is to assassinate anyone they choose.
In this sequel, you get to know more about the mechanisms of their world.  There’s a new main character, Grayson, who takes you deeper and gives you a view of what it's like to live as a normal human.
The book deals with the adverse effects of the ways power-hungry people want to achieve their ambitions.
But that's not why I went gaga after reading the book.
IT.  WAS.  EPIC.  The plot twists within the plot twists.  The narrative.  And the ending.  My god, that ending.  I COULD HEAR MY SILENT SCREAMS.  After the last page, the only thing I thought of was, "GIVE ME THE THIRD BOOK RIGHT NOW!"
Thunderhead isn’t flawless, but it’s a very fine piece of literature that I recommend to anyone who loves to read.
• • • • •
I hope I won't regret putting Thunderhead in first place after a few years.  I regret giving the top spot to I'll Give You the Sun last 2016.  After pondering about the books I've read in the past years, I've found that Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See is one remarkable and memorable book, and the one I should've given the highest honors.
Books with relevant themes dominated my shelf but the book that won my heart was the one with intricate plots and a phenomenal ending.  It feels weird but I hope for the best.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Darius pats the mare until she settles, for the wretched humming of a magical swordbelt can’t have been in her training, but she regards it with more calmness than it deserves. “What are you going to call her?”
“Good gods, Liv, you name your pony. Starfire or Thunderbolt or whatever it is you Western magicians consider magical-type names.”
He tries not to laugh and fails utterly.
“Liv?”
“You really haven’t been around Western magicians,” Darius says once he can get a steady breath. “Yes, I know a witch who called her cat Midnight to appear witchy, but she named every cat after Midnight as well. There were about a hundred cats called Son of Midnight roaming the school when I left. And the headmaster had a black elfish stallion, a warhorse he stole from the Greensward. March named him Bob Bobbsey Bobbins.”
Efe peers into the stall. “Bob Bobbsey Bobbins? An elf horse?”
Darius nods, because it’s the sort of thing that sounds ridiculous without first knowing Kit March. “He never just called him Bob. Always Bob Bobbsey Bobbins.”
“Please,” Efe says with inflection enough that Darius guesses pained desperation, “do the normal thing and name your pony Thunderbolt.”
Darius shakes his head. “I think I’ll call her … Safi.”
“What?” The belt’s voice makes the newly-named Safi jerk her head. Efe too clears the floor, blinking. In fairness, the belt makes everyone jump; Darius just has seven years of practice in not responding. “After the swordseller?”
“I can’t think of good names.” Darius shrugs and reaches up to scratch the mare’s ears. She’ll get used to the belt; she’s already much calmer about it than most hired horses. It’ll be nice, he realises, to have a mount that’s just his, both used to the oddities of a magician and of a height to suit him. No slow, poky, hard-mouthed plodders who tolerate the smell and energy of a magic worker but haven’t the least bit of spirit—and he likes the way she rests her neck against his shoulder, her warm hide close to his skin, her touch so blessedly uncomplicated. “So I’ll borrow them from other people. I wouldn’t be naming her without Safi, so I’ll start from there and work up.”
The belt mutters something inaudible, which Darius takes as an act of passive-aggression best dismissed and ignored.
“Is there a story here?”
“I was looking for a talking sword,” Darius says. “Safi—an arms dealer in the Souk—gave me a talking sword belt.” He shakes his head. “And it talked me out of going home to the priesthood. If I hadn’t met the belt, I’d probably be at a monastery now, writing books. I suppose I’d be peaceful and content.”
Efe raises both eyebrows. “I’m hearing a but there, man. Your edging gives it goodly volume.”
Darius shrugs, because he isn’t too sure on this point himself. Even he knows the list of reasons for why he should have given up is longer than is reasonable. “You shouldn’t use ‘edging’ like that. It isn’t a real word.”
“Aside from the fact that you can’t stop me? You mention the edges of things. Edging.” Efe pauses, his lips parted. “Assuming that you are edging more than I can even recognise, which I suspect is true enough, I do have to wonder why you’re in the work. A magician who can shroud like you do? You’ll not lack for clients.” He reaches up to brush his fingers against the new stud in his nose. “Ay’s wife is a magic worker. I’ve been around them enough to know most have their set constructs.”
Efe’s nose doesn’t look excessively curved to Darius, but he seldom notices those fine details of expression and can’t hold the image in his mind when he does—at best he has a sense of a nose shape or the abstract knowledge of a nose. He marks the teeth only from the magic they scream at the onlooker.
“I don’t think—working with new clients, similar people with their words and wants—and not in the market, no, no.” He stops, draws a breath, exhales. Lunch—plain rice and vegetables fried in olive oil, nothing spicy or mushy—helped some, but Efe has so many words and Darius can’t remember a day so burdened by conversation: the straw in Safi’s stall begins to look a comfortable bed and not a prickling, itching menace. “I like the riding. The days just … riding. It isn’t boring. I don’t have to talk. I like it, too, when I can do the big magic, when it all comes together. I like that kind of magic. I like it when it’s worth it, when it matters. I don’t like giving up if I’ve decided to do something, and I decided to do this.”
It isn’t something he can so easily put to words, that feeling—the giddying, bubbling satisfaction of working a craft to which he has devoted fourteen years of study, not for mundane reasons, not for the fashion of the wealthy or the lighting of lawyers and merchants, not for something anyone else can do. For the reasons the Master sends him and none other, the secret bearing of power and knowledge. For those rare moments of intoxicating certainty that he can protect and defend, that magic in his hands can make him mighty.
It fails him in his day to day life, boxed in by law and Darius’s own judgement, but on the Kara he is ever so much closer to unleashed.
He turns, stroking Safi’s mane, fearing Efe’s read of Darius’s expression.
“I see, I think—which means I probably don’t see near as much as I think I do.” Efe pauses, his gap in speech by a soft rustling sound. “We’ll be riding, and I doubt there won’t be magic, likely more than either of us want. Do you like her?”
This is from the in-progress first draft of The Performance Magician, sequel to The Adventurer King. For Darius, it’s a struggle dealing with a man who talks, both in terms of putting words together in response and the difficulty of dealing with Efe’s habit of poking at everything he’s spent seven years hiding. For Efe, it’s an abrupt and disconcerting realisation that Darius’s world is nothing like his own and he could never have prepared for the reality of what it means to be autistic.
The fun bit about knowing exactly how Efe and Darius’s story ends is the laying of some hellish foreshadowing. That and extreme ridiculousness when it comes to the College and naming things...

9 Ben Simmons trade packages that might actually make sense for both sides
Tumblr media
If the 76ers are really going to trade Ben Simmons soon, we have nine trade packages both sides should consider.
Ben Simmons’ days in Philadelphia have felt numbered ever since his woeful offensive performance contributed to the 76ers’ surprising second round loss to the Atlanta Hawks in 2021 NBA Playoffs. It was painful to watch Simmons at times during the series as he consistently bricked free throws and refused to attempt almost any fourth quarter shot — even a wide open dunk. As the Hawks finished off Philly in six games, head coach Doc Rivers and superstar teammate Joel Embiid essentially threw Simmons under the bus in the final postgame press conference.
The NBA waited for Simmons to be traded all summer, but it never happened. 76ers GM Daryl Morey reportedly asked for the moon for the 25-year-old All-Star, and no team was willing to meet his demands. It was easy to speculate that Morey wanted to hold on to Simmons as long as possible to see if a superstar guard like Damian Lillard would eventually hit the trade market.
Simmons has now taken matters into his own hands. He wants to be traded to a new team, and he’s threatening to hold out of training camp until it happens. With Simmons’ trade request hanging over the start of the season, we came up with nine possible deals and asked the corresponding SB Nation NBA communities how they felt about the proposed trade. These were the parameters for the deals:
I came up with each potential trade. They had to work on ESPN’s trade machine
The SB Nation communities gave their feedback on each deal. Sometimes that meant a thumbs up, sometimes it meant a thumbs down, sometimes it meant a counteroffer.
Every trade includes draft compensation of some kind. Since that’s where most of the negotiation on these deals will take place, we chose to keep it vague rather than come up with specific pick protections.
At the bottom of this story, Paul Hudrick from our 76ers community Liberty Ballers ranked his favorite proposed trade packages.
This was a fun exercise when we did it with James Harden a year ago, but the polarizing nature of Simmons’ game made this an even bigger challenge. As we learned, it isn’t easy to find a deal that satisfies the 76ers’ win-now desires while also making sense for the other side.
Here are nine deals we thought could make sense.
Pacers
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Malcolm Brogdon and T.J. Warren + a pick for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Pacers finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last year, and their big addition of the offseason was head coach Rick Carlisle. This team is positioned to “win-now” with most of the rotation in its prime, but their ceiling isn’t all that high. Simmons is the type of player a franchise like the Pacers would be unlikely to land in free agency. It could be worth it to cash in a few pieces for a 25-year-old All-Star who is under contract long term, and then figure out the rest of the roster around him later. While the Pacers get a new foundational star, the 76ers get a starting point guard who can shoot and a wing bucket-getter who can immediately help Embiid in the playoffs.
What Indy Cornrows says:
This is so tough because A.) I love what this does for Philadelphia B.) Ben Simmons is the most talented player in the deal, the youngest, and on a long term contract; all things that would behoove the Pacers’ braintrust to make this trade. While I normally am talent over everything, the fit is just so wonky with a frontcourt of Sabonis/Turner/Simmons. If there were a subsequent deal with one of the bigs to bring in more perimeter talent, I think it makes sense, but the team can already struggle in halfcourt or late clock scoring situations. On top of that, Brogdon and Warren are both sub All-Star talents who the Pacers have no real replacement for. Again, it’s wonky, but worth thinking about.
As dynamic and good of a player as Ben is, he isn’t an elite driver at the moment (11.4 drives per 75) and Malcolm Brogdon is (15.2 drives per 75). We don’t talk about the rim finishing. But, in all seriousness, the Pacers would really struggle without Malcolm’s consistent ability to get to the rim. Getting there causes the defense to tilt even if you’re not finishing at an elite rate, so you’re banking a great deal on Ben and Caris LeVert getting to the cup with more consistency.
Simmons and Sabonis operate from similar spaces as high or mid post playmakers using their height and court vision to pick apart a defense. What does that look like with two players who aren’t being respected past the free throw line? Playmaking is probably the most important offensive skill in the league, you can never have enough, but the fit is certainly odd.
I would ultimately be in on this for Indiana, but admit that the team would probably not feel similarly. They view themselves as a win now team, and I think it would require a one step back two steps forward approach trying to restructure a younger team around Simmons after trading two of the three best perimeter options in the organization, while knowing more moves are happening in conjunction here.
If I could, I would counter with something involving the same players, but adding in Tyrese Maxey and a conglomeration of Pacers picks to make that trade worthwhile for the Sixers. Maxey would provide another building block towards a younger team with a brighter future and the Sixers would acquire more draft capital for subsequent moves to tweak the roster. It’s not perfect and I wouldn’t want to part with Maxey if I’m Daryl Morey, but I would certainly try and make it happen. — Mark Schindler
Spurs
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, Devin Vassell + a pick for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Spurs finished No. 10 in the Western Conference last year, and lost their best player in free agency when DeMar DeRozan went to the Bulls. San Antonio has collected some solid young pieces in recent years, but no true star. Simmons would immediately become the face of the franchise, and his long-term deal would give the Spurs a few years to try to add talent around him. In return, Philly would get a dynamic offensive guard in White, an awesome defensive wing with shooting ability in Vassell, and a capable point guard in Murray.
What Pounding the Rock says:
Parting with their presumptive starting backcourt, in addition to the promising Vassell, is a hard pill to swallow for a team that’s invested so much in their development. But the Spurs have entered asset acquisition mode this summer for a reason: the roster as constructed probably doesn’t top out as a world-beater. Simmons doesn’t get them all the way there, but he should raise their ceiling and complement many of the remaining pieces’ strengths and weaknesses. — Bruno Passos
Cavaliers
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, and Ricky Rubio + a pick for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Cavs have been collecting top-five lottery picks ever since LeBron James bounced to LA, but the team is still far away from contention. Evan Mobley could be the face of the franchise moving forward, but it’s hard to tell exactly how good Cleveland’s other young players are. Like the Pacers, Simmons is the type of player the Cavs likely would never get in free agency. A team with Mobley and Simmons could have incredible defensive potential. The Cavs would have a log jam in the front court, but Simmons is under contract long enough for the team to reshape the rest of the roster around him in coming years. The 76ers would get an exciting young point guard in Garland who could be set for a breakout third year. Okoro is an awesome young wing defender who needs to improve offensively, and Rubio could help Philly at point guard right now.
What Fear the Sword says:
Maybe the Cavs do this as a talent play because Ben Simmons is no doubt better than anyone the Cavs currently have. But this is also a tricky deal because Garland is their best young creator and would fit well with Simmons. Okoro, meanwhile, is a standout defender just starting and they got Rubio. Simmons is also a tricky fit with a Evan Mobley-Jarrett Allen frontcourt. In reality, I think the Cavs probably do this because it’s a talent play and they have to take those. But I don’t really know why the 76ers would do this?
I also think the Cavs would want to try and move off of Kevin Love in any trade they make here, but that wouldn’t seem to fit with what the 76ers would want to do here. Simmons to Cleveland might just be too complicated to do unless a third team gets involved. — Chris Manning
Trail Blazers
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: C.J. McCollum and Robert Covington + a pick for Simmons and Thybulle.
Why it might work: The Sixers might dream of trading Simmons for Lillard, but it’s possible his backcourt mate is the best they can do right now. The 30-year-old McCollum would give the team a new lead guard in the backcourt who can score from all three levels and pairs well with Embiid. Covington is already a fan favorite for starting his career in Philly. Losing Thybulle in this might be a tough for the Sixers, but seems necessary for the contracts to match. From Portland’s perspective, an all-in move for Simmons could keep Lillard around long-term and give the Blazers the defensive stopper they’ve been missing.
What Blazer’s Edge says:
For the trade in question, the BE staff would accept that trade. Our only counter would be to make this trade less noisy. Let’s remove all the additional pieces and make this a straight CJ-for-Ben swap.
Simmons might not love the idea of Portland, but Klutch would unite one of their marquee players when one of their top coaching clients. With Larry Nance Jr. and Simmons in the fold, the Blazers’ defense would finally have the tools to compete with true contenders. — Steven Dewald
Grizzlies
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Steven Adams, Dillon Brooks, and DeAnthony Melton + Jazz and Lakers 2022 first round picks for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Grizzlies have a great young foundation led by Ja Morant, but the team still has a long way to go before they reach contender status even after sneaking into the playoffs last year. Acquiring a blue chip talent like Simmons while keeping Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and a solid young complementary shooter in Desmond Bane would be a major boon. For the Sixers, Brooks could be an immediate starter on the wing, Melton is one of the more underrated players in the league, and Adams would be an elite backup center. The picks could come in handy for a future trade, too.
What Grizzly Bear Blues says:
If the Grizzlies could acquire a player that’s 25 years old and has been a 3-time All-Star, without giving up Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr., they should pull the trigger - even for the oft-criticized Ben Simmons. Grizzlies followers would be reluctant to give up Dillon Brooks, but Simmons would serve as a defensive and playmaking upgrade. Brooks, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton sound like a good framework for the deal, and guys like Brandon Clarke or Desmond Bane could replace one of the guys in this deal. The rest will likely revolve around draft compensation, primarily the first-round picks from the Lakers and the Jazz in 2022 and maybe one of their own.
The allure of Ben Simmons is transforming him into a super-charged Draymond Green. What better duo for him to do that with than the electric Ja Morant and the sweet-shooting Jaren Jackson Jr.? — Parker Fleming
Timberwolves
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels + a pick for Simmons, Tybulle, and Isaiah Joe.
Why it might work: Minnesota reportedly has heavy interest in Simmons, and there are some pathways to a deal. This package would give the Sixers a starting guard in Russell, a high volume shooter in Beasley, and high-upside, young defensive forward in McDaniels. Russell may be a negative team value on his current deal, but Philly could also flip him down the line. For the Wolves, Simmons’ elite defense is a perfect match next to Karl-Anthony Towns in the front court. This trade might come down to what Philly thinks of McDaniels after a promising rookie year.
What Canis Hoopus says:
As a Wolves fan/writer, I wouldn’t do this trade. DLo and Beasly are the two best perimeter shooters on the team and Jaden McDaniels looks like the steal of the 2020 draft. I also don’t think the Sixers are interested in Russell. I think the Wolves big plan is to win with Simmons AND Russell together so I’ll propose this. The Timberwolves trade Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, Taurean Prince, 2022 FRP, and 2024 FRP for Ben Simmons and Isaiah Joe.
The Wolves keep Russell, meanwhile the Sixers get extra pieces they can include in a trade once another star becomes available like Dame or Beal. Prince also cannot be traded until September 27th but teams could agree in principle. — Cooper Carlson
Raptors
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Goran Dragic, OG Anunoby, Chris Boucher, and Malachi Flynn for Simmons, Thybulle, and Isaiah Joe.
Why it might work: The Raptors are embarking on a new era without Kyle Lowry, and it sure feels like they want a full team of big, athletic forwards with multi-dimensional skill sets. Simmons would fit. While a 1-for-1 swap with Pascal Siakam is possible, Raptors HQ chose to talk about this deal centered around OG Anunoby instead. Anunoby is a tremendous young wing who would be a plug-and-play starter for the 76ers. Boucher is a stretch big off the bench, Flynn is a promising young point guard, and Dragic could play a role right now in the last year of his deal. For the Raptors, a core of Simmons, Siakam, VanVleet, and Scottie Barnes could be the start of something big.
What Raptors HQ says:
This is definitely one of the more creative Raptors-76ers trade ideas that I’ve seen! Here, you’re moving two players who clearly want to be moved in Ben Simmons and Goran Dragic, and that’s a good starting point. The 76ers also need a point guard, and I think Dragic would quickly become a fan-favourite in Philly, assuming he hasn’t lost a step.
Beyond that? Well, OG Anunoby becomes the real sticky point here. Yes, I realize that Anunoby is more highly valued by Raptors fans, including me, than he is anywhere else. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t deserved. For an example of that, look no further than… Matisse Thybulle, who made all-defence last year over the more deserving Anunoby last season!
Still — if we remove the Klutch factor here (Anunoby is a Klutch client) — if you had to move OG to get Simmons, getting Thybulle in return to fill OG’s spot is not a bad thing. Imagine fielding a lineup of Simmons, Thybulle, Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes and Precious Achiuwa? I bet Masai Ujiri, Bobby Webster and Nick Nurse would give that one some serious thought. — Josh Kern
Kings
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Kings are already reportedly out on this deal, and it makes sense. Haliburton was awesome as a rookie. He might be the most appealing piece in any of the packages we mention in this article. Still, there’s a case for why the Kings should consider this. Simmons is a young All-Star signed long-term. Trading for arguably the best defensive player in the game is a great way to address what was the league’s worst defense last year. The Kings also have a promising rookie guard in Davion Mitchell who could take Haliburton’s place in the lineup. It’s totally fair if the Kings and their fans don’t like this deal, but it’s at least worth considering.
What Sactown Royalty says:
This is a highly-risky move for the Kings that I would not want to see come to fruition.
Tyrese Haliburton is an essential piece of the young core Sacramento is trying to build around alongside De’Aaron Fox. The Kings would essentially be trading Haliburton, who finished third in Rookie of the Year voting last season, and Buddy Hield, the best 3-point shooter in the league, in return for good defense.
The way this is set up, Kings undoubtedly lose the deal. Instead, I would offer Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III and a future pick in return for Ben Simmons. The relationship between Bagley and Kings brass isn’t quite as hostile as Simmons and the Sixers, but it’s no secret they both want out of their respective markets. Philly would acquire a young wing who wants a fresh start while Sacramento would do the same. — Marina Drab
Warriors
Tumblr media
Framework of the deal: Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Moses Moody + a pick for Simmons.
Why it might work: The Warriors are trying to augment their aging championship core with young, unproven talent taken at the top of the draft. It sounds like a good plan in theory, but Golden State also can’t afford to waste time while Stephen Curry is still playing at an MVP level. Trading young pieces for Simmons would be a major boost in the short-term for Golden State, and immediately improve their chances at coming out of the West this year. For the Sixers, Wiggins could contribute on the wing right away, while Moody and Wiseman are nice long-term pieces. This deal may not give the Sixers the immediate talent infusion they’re looking to add, but the young pieces could be flipped in another deal down the road.
What Golden State of Mind says:
The main concern with Simmons on the Warriors seems to be whether the team can make a non-shooter work next to Draymond Green. But the Warriors have built elite offenses in the past with frontcourts of Green and Kevon Looney, Green and JaVale McGee, Green and Zaza Pachulia, and so on and so forth. The Warriors would have to eschew having a traditional center for it to work, but Simmons is bigger than many traditional centers (including Looney). With Simmons and Green, the Warriors would have a frontcourt starring two of last year’s Defensive Player of the Year finalists, and two of the top 12 assists per game leaders, who would be passing the ball to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. You have to be mighty high on Wiggins to think this does anything but dramatically increase the team’s title odds in the next few years, and that’s before mentioning how perfect of a fit Thybulle is on the Warriors. Maximizing a title window around a 33-year old Curry is more important than hoping that two draft lottery tickets in Wiseman and Moody pan out. It’s an easy yes for me, though it’s worth noting that Golden State’s front office is reportedly split on Simmons, so it may not be an easy yes for them. — Brady Klopfer
Liberty Ballers ranks the Ben Simmons trade packages
Paul Hudrick from our 76ers community Liberty Ballers stopped by with his thoughts on his favorite potential deals.
1. San Antonio - Murray, White, Vassell + a pick
The reason I like this deal better than most is the addition of Murray. Say what you want about Simmons, but he was the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year and is arguably the most versatile defender in the league. Getting a player like Murray that already has an All-Defensive Team nod would help mitigate the loss of Simmons on that end. At 25, you could talk yourself into Murray’s potential offensive upside — despite him not being a perfect fit playing next to Embiid — while also seeing a big role in helping the Sixers win now.
White would immediately become the Sixers’ sixth man and would be a damn good one. The Sixers’ bench has talent and potential but is awfully young. At 27, White adds maturity and experience. I love Vassell, but he is a tough fit here with wings like Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz and Isaiah Joe that fit a similar mold. You can never have enough good, young wings, but I might prefer another pick or someone like Keldon Johnson, who offers more perimeter shot-creation potential, something the Sixers desperately need. — Paul Hudrick
2. Indiana - Brogdon, Warren + a pick
You could argue this deal makes more sense with the Sixers looking to maximize Embiid’s prime. Brogdon gives the Sixers a traditional point guard that can help space the floor even more for Embiid while also providing solid defense. I love the idea of Warren — especially the bubble version that destroyed the Sixers — as either the team’s starting three or a flamethrower off the bench. Both players offer more perimeter creation than what’s on the current roster.
The reason I like the Spurs deal better is trepidation over the health of both Indiana players. Brogdon, who isn’t the most explosive player to begin with, has missed time with various injuries over the last three seasons. Warren missed all but four games last season after having foot surgery. Both players are 28 and have proven NBA track records — which aligns with what the Sixers want — but their injury histories would make me want more draft compensation. — Paul Hudrick
3. Sacramento - Hield, Haliburton
Adding more shooting in Hield makes a ton of sense. The more shooting around Embiid the better. My only concern is that I’d imagine Hield would come here with the expectation to start. That would mean one of Danny Green or Seth Curry — who were both excellent last season — would have to move to the bench, something I’m not sure Doc Rivers wants to do.
While Haliburton doesn’t necessarily fit the mold of a win-now acquisition, that’d be a strong return. Haliburton replaces Simmons as a big playmaker but with the ability to shoot. Would he be ready for the moment in the postseason? I think it’s 100 percent worth finding out … if Sacramento is willing to move him. — Paul Hudrick

Saddest thing that ever happened to me..
No details can describe what lead up to this moment. Really now that its happened I truly don't remember much. I guess it'd start out how I thought two guys were just my friends until each other found out about each other. So if you follow my stories you should already know about Jaron but this is ultimately about Darius and how I lost him within an instant.
I had the hugest crush on him the moment I saw his smile walking past me in the halls my 10th grade year at Monroe Area. I remember my heart skipping beats, damn near stopping any time I noticed him around. But of course I was this awkward nerdy girl that no one noticed so I kept my distance. Then he up and vanished came 11th grade. I missed my chance but years later he'd always pop in my mind randomly and I'd just smile. After six or seven years after graduation I figured he was just a figment of my imagination and I grew past the schoolgirl crush. Right up until March 2017 when I saw him on a social media site and HE WROTE ME!
Within that instant I knew I was never going to let a moment go by without letting him know how much I wanted him. Which I did and we talked for about a month before ever meeting. I didn't want to seem needy/clingy so I let him make all the moves and he eventually asked me out on a date. I was nervous to say the least, even with my years of self-confidence on blast I was still unsure that a man like him would ever care for a big girl. Boy was I wrong.
He arrived and came to my door to get me. Jokes and laughter from the time we hit the car. He was extremely chill and had a aurora that you didn't want to escape from, I planned on never escaping. Walking in the mall he was affectionate and genuinely wanted to be there with me. I felt like the most beautiful and important person in that entire mall. The rest of that night is for another story 😊.
So fast forward to January of 2018, we had lost contact and found each other again. He was the same sweet, loving man as before. Weird how he always said the right things to me. He vowed never to let me go and I believed him. Like no time had passed we picked up being in each others lives 78% of our days and it was absolutely wonderful. I had fallen hard and I wanted to show my appreciation. Cooking, cleaning, taking him where he needed to go, being supportive of all his decisions (no matter how stupid).
Anything I thought a woman should do for her man. Up until three months pass and I felt a pull. He was pulling away and I asked if we were together. His oh so clever remark was "We're good friends." and continued to let me know, "I never said I wanted a relationship. I'm not ready for anything serious." Even as hurt as I was by that I knew even having him as a friend was better than not having him at all. I grieved in embarrassment for a few weeks and reached back out.
Naturally he was still struggling to balance life and was in need of little help. I'd never want his prettyface to stress so I provided anything I could to help without hesitation. Accepting that I wasn't woman enough for him or he wasn't man enough for me, whatever, I thought friendship was great. We started back talking and him checking on me. Sending "Good Morning Gorgeous" texts along with calling me the weirdest nickname ever, "Sugafoot" but I loved it and him just the same.
Then in comes Jaron after having apparently a worst year than I did after he did me wrong for the third time in two years. Starts wanting to be a "better man" and even though I just couldn't believe him after so many lies I fell for it. I opened my ears, mind and heart to believing he wanted to do better but I knew it just wouldn't be in a relationship with me. His lies outweighed the goodness in my eyes but I've never been one to push a man when he's down.
We started talking every other day about his journey and what he needs to do. Just like Jaron, as soon as he's up someone knocks him down. He has an amazing heart that always bites him in the ass. His current roommate started a fight and got mad he lost so he kicked him out. Apparently I'm the only bridge he restored and he called for help. I couldn't let him just wander around at midnight so I invited him to stay for a day or two.
Had to be the biggest mistake because my next move was asking Darius for my spare key back. Except I wasn't home and Jaron was. I should have explained the situation before hand but I figured Darius didn't like me like that and we hadn't been sexually involved in a month and a half. It shouldn't have been a problem, so I thought. I text him for an eta on the key and I got a response I wasn't expecting at all. "I gave the key to your nigga. Drop off my case when you get off."
Jealousy seeping through my screen and I for the life of me didn't know until that moment. He did have feelings but not anymore after seeing that. I came to check on Jaron to make sure he was still alive. Both have horrible tempers and fuses always set to explode. After I saw he was good and he explained that Darius had came in on him sleeping to personally hand him the key I knew that I had fucked up.
After making sure Jaron got off to work I headed to drop Darius his phone case. He was rushing me like he had someplace to be and he's never treated me like that. I felt the not caring kicking in but I still went. Reluctant I called to let him know I was there. He came out with no shirt, blue basketball shorts and his dreads looking amazing. Specifically to show me what I'd be losing. Some woman shit but it worked nonetheless. He lend in to get his case, looked me dead in the eyes and said, "You have fun with him." Then walked away not looking back as I called out his name. Knowing I wouldn't come after him because I'm not that type of female to make a scene. Also I was terrified that he had someone inside just to show her didn't need me.
Watching him walking away my heart skipped a million beats. Damn near stopping as the thought kicked in that he'd probably never come back again. Never call me Sugafoot as he kissed me bye. Never being able to see his smile again.
So who's to blame?? Me for not knowing that friendship doesn't mean anything if it stops the man you love from hurting?? Jaron for not being able to stop conflict or having more than me to depend on in that moment?? Or Darius for not letting me know he cared more than he led me to believe so I wouldn't have ever put him in that position??

“Ah, there are plenty of performers with tattoos,” Darius says, waving a hand dismissively. “Makeup can do wonders to hide them.”
He takes a rather large bite of his lemon bread, spilling crumbs on the wrought iron table, where they slip through the little holes and onto the ground. A pair of opportunistic sparrows hop over and start boldly picking around his feet, which he subconsciously tucks under his chair to make more room for them.
“But I get it. I mean, more important things to think about. I was always kind of obsessed with my grades, until I got out of school- and I spent so much time volunteering with local hospitals, thinking I’d go into medical school. That dream ate up a lot of time, even when I was young. But- I’m glad I’m doing this instead. Things like that change sometimes. And even after I changed my mind, I wanted to do well in school and everything. Time just goes by fast, really,” he says, taking another thoughtful bite of his lemon bread and pausing to sip his coffee.
It’s a delicate subject, and even Darius knows it- the reason that his particular dream died. That one detail that they have in common, but that he has a nagging feeling he can’t bring up. In a way, it eats at him. He has never befriended someone who knows the unique pain of losing both of their parents so young- another orphaned person. But for all that they have in common, it feels tactless, even to him, to bring it up- ‘so, your parents died too!’ No. Especially not in public. He smiles, and looks down at his hands folded on the table. One of his feet inches back and touches a shopping bag; the sparrows startle and flutter away, breadcrumbs sticking to their tiny beaks.
---
CHRISTINE
“Yeah,” she says with a small nod.
Christine had intended to say something more, but potential topics of conversation spread out in front of her like an expanse of closely-set snares—school; studies; lost time; the reason Darius shifted his ambitions; the similar reason that has driven her own—and as seconds continue to tick past in silence, she finally surrenders to an awkward sort of grin and another long sip of tea. Through the filigree gaps in the table, she watches the little birds as they hop nimbly between scattered crumbs and bits of rough grit, looking carefully at each fleck before deciding which to peck up; she can relate.
A rustle of paper and plastic suddenly sends them winging. Christine can’t so easily flutter away from an awkward moment, though—nor would she *want* to leave her friend. Picking up a paper napkin, she wipes at the sticky crumbs on her fingers. “So, um, what’s next?” she asks, leaving the question intentionally broad.

DARIUS
“Well, what time is it?” he wonders aloud, touching first his breast pockets, and then his jacket pockets, frowning as he pats at his legs for a few moments until he finds his phone sitting very simply in his front pocket. “I was never good at keeping track of my phone before, and since I met Erik it’s even worse,” he mutters, but there is a smile in his voice as he talks about it, contrary to his words that seem to express irritation. It’s not something he can bring himself to be annoyed about. “Does he steal your things yet? He will. He loves to shock people like that. Khan and I are never shocked by anything anymore, but if he can’t surprise us, it seems he thinks it’s fun to annoy us. I have to admit, though, it is amazing what he can do without anyone noticing. He takes my ring on a regular basis, and I mean, it’s not a loose ring, it’s on there pretty tight…” he trails off, looking at his phone as he talks, and goes quiet for a moment as he reads the message that Khan left a few minutes ago. It’s welcome news, hearing that Erik is sleeping soundly.
“Just Khan checking in,” he tells Christine over his phone. “Seems like everything is going well there… Erik’s asleep, so that’s good…”
He types as he talks.
Good here, too. Having a nice time. See you later.
Once he sends the message, he checks the time and looks back at Christine. “It’s just past noon, so we could go down towards the Rue de Rivoli and walk by the Louvre. That’s one major Parisian thing that you could check off your list. Or, if you want to take a longer walk, we could actually go by the Opera. I don’t know if you want to go there right now, but it’s an option, and it’s in easy walking distance.”
---
CHRISTINE
It hadn’t occurred to her that Erik might still be asleep; she nods a bit awkwardly at the news from Khan, crumpling up the leftover napkin and wax paper from her pastry, and hoping that her text hadn’t disturbed Erik’s rest.
On the plus side, he seems to be *getting* rest. And Khan is keeping an eye on him.
“I’m sure Mama will be disappointed if I don’t have *something* touristy to tell her about the next time we talk,” Christine says, happy for the change in subject. “Maybe…not the Opera, though; I’m not sure if I’m quite ready for that, yet.”
---
DARIUS
“The Louvre, then!” Darius says cheerfully, slinging his messenger bag back over his shoulder and standing up from his seat. He throws back the remainder of his drink, and scoops up Christine’s trash as well as his own. Their seats are taken almost as soon as they vacate them- it seems that everyone is out enjoying the rare autumn sun.
Tourists and locals alike are out in droves, but the streets aren’t excessively crowded. It’s a lovely day to walk, and Darius is glad that they didn’t spend too much of the day underground in the mall. The tourist crowd gets denser as they get closer to the Rue de Rivoli; along the way, they pause as Darius chatters about random buildings and architecture. He’d be a better tour guide for Tehran, he thinks, but he knows a good amount about Paris. They look perfectly normal like this- nothing but two friends enjoying the bright day, taking in the sights and experiencing the city. It feels normal. Once again, it strikes Darius how seldom he really interacts with anyone his age. Being a business owner so young, and trying to take care of both Khan and Erik- it’s rare that he can leave those burdens behind, but for once, everything seems to be working on its own, if only for a day. And he has a friend to share that day with. There really isn’t much more that he would feel right in asking for.
The city’s dense and historic architecture is interrupted rudely as they round a corner, and the iconic pyramid that marks the entrance of the Louvre looms unnaturally over them, a stark contrast to all of the stonework that surrounds it. Darius pauses for a moment to look at it; he has seen it plenty of times before, but it never ceases to alarm him- such a bizarre structure in the middle of such an old city. He looks over at Christine.
“Some people still don’t like the pyramids, but I love them. They’re a bold choice, for certain. Even Erik admits that he admires the architect, and it can take a lot to pull praise for a famous landmark out of him,” he says cheerfully as they begin to walk again. He instinctively leads them towards the reflection pools, where a few people are already sitting. The line to enter the museum stretches far out the door; he doubts whether they could even get in if they intended to, with the amount of traffic there today.
---
CHRISTINE
There’s a strange, magical feeling to it—to turn, and suddenly see a thing that one knows only from pictures. Like coming out of the metro station and seeing the Opera standing on the other side of the square, solid and right ahead. She really *had* known the Opera, though—as much as one possibly *could* without actually having visited it; other than the wonder of *being* there, there hadn’t been anything in the sight of it to particularly *surprise* her. Now, though, staring past the famous glass pyramids that represent the entirety of her mental image of ’the Louvre’, Christine finally understands what none of the closely-cropped pictures she’d seen of the place had ever communicated: the immense scale of *the museum itself*. Finally remembering to breathe, she follows Darius to a seat at the edge of the nearest reflecting pool, still too much in awe to speak.
“I…never realised that there was…so *much* of it,” Christine says once they’re settled on the stone bank, her head turning back over her shoulder, still struggling to absorb the sight of the massive building that encloses the plaza on three sides. “It’s hard to believe that it’s just a museum; it looks more like Dröttningholm palace.” Finally turning forwards again, she explains, “Where the royal family lives, in the skärgård.” Her phone finds its way out of her purse again, but the disappointingly-narrow view on the screen discourages her from taking more than a few pictures. “I guess they had to do something with the palaces, didn’t they,” she muses, turning slowly to give another thoughtful glance around; this time, her eyes settle on the large pyramid, finally giving it her full attention.
“Erik likes them?” she asks, trying to square what she knows of him and his own home with the sharp, minimalistic lines of glass and metal. It raises another question in her mind, before Darius hardly has time to answer the first. “What are *his* buildings like? He’s mentioned designing houses—‘boring houses’, he said,” her lip quirks as she remembers his obvious disdain for *those* clients, “—but I keep forgetting to ask more about it. And I’m even more curious, after seeing that drawing of his at the restaurant.”
---
DARIUS
Darius chuckles. “You should see Versailles. The French love their palaces,” he says, leaning over and dipping a finger in the reflecting pool, watching as the ripples criss-cross the paths of other disturbances. He isn’t the only one sitting who couldn’t resist touching the water. He smiles at Christine’s question, thinking of Erik’s open disdain for the ideas of so many of his clients.
“The buildings he makes are different from the ones that he likes,” he says. “He tries to pick projects that interest him a little bit, but honestly, he doesn’t even like working in cities. In most cases, he wouldn’t like the pyramids at all. He doesn’t like plain unadorned shapes like this, it’s more the boldness of it that he admires. He wouldn’t design something like this. He likes the engineering challenges of building into natural structures. At least, that’s what his drawings show me. I’m not an architect or anything, but he pays attention to, like… that golden ratio stuff, which I guess happens in nature all the time, and all the technical parts of it are confusing, but he really seems to like figuring out the problems that homes in unexpected places would cause. He showed me a few drawings once, of a house he could’ve built into a seaside cove, only accessible by boat- and, he said, all in the least invasive possible way. He makes everything energy efficient and sustainable, tries to find weird places to put gardens… I don’t know why he brought us to Paris at all, to be honest. He just likes nature a lot. He ends up designing plenty of modern geometric stuff, but that’s just because it’s what the market wants right now. He has money, sure, but he can’t afford to just build random architectural oddities out in the forests because he wants to. Nobody can do that.”
The thought of Erik’s passion had been enough to make Darius smile, but there is a note of uncertainty in his voice as he continues- like a person recalling the unhappy ending to a beloved story. He looks down at the water, fingers drumming its surface again, creating little waves that don’t quite become droplets flung in the air, but hang for a fraction of a second of tension before spreading into a ripple.
“Really, though, I don’t know why he brought us to a city. He was the one who decided to come here, but he seemed so happy when we went camping through the mountains and everything. I just feel like maybe he’d go outside more if we lived in a smaller town somewhere. It doesn’t really matter, living in a cultural center of art and music if you never leave your house. And I don’t think he’s been outside without a mask on since the day we got to Paris, like- he at least needs a vitamin D lamp or something,” he mutters. He takes his hand out of the pool and wipes the tips of his fingers on the side of his pants. “I guess his building sketches just remind me of how much happier he seemed not in a city.”
---
CHRISTINE
Christine nods pensively, watching the ripples echo away across the water, her mind on another who had always seemed happiest in the wilderness.
“Maybe…” she begins, but lets the thought fade into a sigh before she can finish it.
‘Maybe he *shouldn’t* live in the city.’
'Maybe he should find a place where his vision would be appreciated.’
'Maybe he should go somewhere that he can be outside.’
But Erik clearly must have *some* reason for having chosen to live where he does, and it doesn’t fall to *her* to speculate, or to make suggestions that he do *differently*—especially when he isn’t even *present* to say his own part; hasn’t she already criticized the *others* for speaking about Erik as though he weren’t an adult capable of making his own choices?
“Maybe…next time we talk, I’ll remember to ask him to show me some of his designs,” she finishes, trying to pull the conversation back onto more level—and less disheartening—ground. “They sound wonderful. Well, the ones that he does for himself.”
---
DARIUS
There is a hint of something in her voice that makes Darius feel even closer to Christine than he did a moment ago. Her sigh is a sound that he recognizes; a sound he’s made himself, frustrated by the futility of trying to help, sometimes. He wants what’s best for Erik, but it seems like a dead-end situation sometimes. He catches himself lying awake at night, wondering if he could do or say something that would make some major difference- but there is never anything. At the end of the day, Erik’s decisions are his own, and he doesn’t take well to criticism. Plus, there is some logic to living in a city, where everything is so close and available. He just wishes that he could make things better.
That magical solution doesn’t exist, as much as he wants it to. He can feel Christine’s hesitation, but he doesn’t want to bring it back up when she’s already changed the topic. He doesn’t want her to feel alone; he knows the feeling of watching someone in pain, wanting to do something but being unable. All he can offer, though, is a warm smile.
“They are wonderful,” he says. “And it seems to cheer him up, talking about them. He’s never better than when there’s music, though. I’m sure you’ve seen that. After resting all day, I’m sure you’ll go back to lessons tomorrow. It’ll be good for both of you,” he says, and he stands from his seat on the edge of the pool, stretching his arms up over his head. He checks the time on his phone, and looks up at the sky. It’s clear and blue as ever, but the changing seasons are evident in the way that it already seems a bit darker than it had an hour ago. “I have a stop closer to home to show you, if you want to get back on the metro. We can talk while we walk.”
---
CHRISTINE
Christine is slower to stand than Darius, turning to give one last glance back across the reflecting pool before getting to her feet.
“It’ll be wonderful to get back to work,” she agrees, face lighting with eagerness, “There’s so much that I need to learn!”; her smile runs deeper than the words that accompany it.
‘He’s never better than when there’s music…’
Faced with all the problems that she can’t fix, it’s good to be reminded of one way that she *does* make things better.
Straightening her jacket and purse, Christine nods cheerfully towards her friend, “Lead the way!”
---
DARIUS
“Well, I don’t know anything about music,” Darius admits as they set off. “It seems like a lot of work. I like to listen to it, but I can’t sing worth anything. I do anyway, of course. A few of us in the restaurant sing when we’re prepping for the day, we always have a radio on. But it’s nothing compared to what you and Erik do. I mean, I’ve heard Erik’s music, and it does some things that I wasn’t even sure music could do. I never really imagined him as the teaching type, but I don’t think you could find a better musician in all of Paris. He really seems to like it. It’s a weird string of events that lead you here, but I’m glad it happened.”
He leads them down the street, past crowds of tourists burdened with dozens of brightly colored shopping bags. Where the sidewalks are wide enough, Parisians hawk trinkets out of carts; little baubles like keychains of the Eiffel Tower, and shot glasses featuring the masterpieces of the Louvre. Darius dodges around the crowds with practiced effortlessness; it’s an area where it is easy to tell a local from a tourist. Locals walk with purpose, but visitors tend to move with a sense of wonder about them. He doesn’t resent them the way that some local people do- it’s nice, he thinks, to see people getting to visit a city that, perhaps, they have always dreamed of. When he looks at Christine, he wonders whether Paris has always been a dream for her, too- or does she not care where she sings, as long as she is singing?
He waits until it’s easier to talk- they get down the stairs to the metro and through the turnstiles. The platform is relatively empty, and he leans back against the wall, waiting for the train to arrive.
“Has Paris always been the goal for you?” he asks, treading with a bit of caution- he doesn’t want to bring up her failed audition. “Would you perform in, I don’t know, like, London, if you had the chance? Or do you want to be here?”
---
CHRISTINE
She lets Darius lead the way forward, out of the wide courtyard—happy for his naturally-quick pace, and the slight distance that allows her to conceal the bashful wrinkling of her nose. Darius has yet to hear her sing a single note, has no reason whatsoever to so readily draw a comparison between her own abilities and those of *Erik*—other than the confidence than Erik would not spend his time on an unworthy pupil. She shrugs her new jacket farther up against her shoulders, pretending as if the pink tinge in her cheeks is on account of the slight chill in the air.
“I’m glad, too.”
This afternoon isn’t that different than it was when she first arrived: a rare glimmer of sunlight peeking through the November gloom, the streets packed with people intent on making the most of the break in the rain. And, despite the radical change in her circumstances, there’s a part of *her* that feels the same as well—a part that wonders, now more than ever, where it is that she fits in in this new place.
Tagging quickly after Darius past the tourist-swarmed souvenir carts, she can no more spare a glance at their wares than she could on that day nearly two weeks ago. The vendors had looked up at her hopefully, clearly spotting some telling trace of overwhelm in her wide blue eyes as she glanced between street signs; but she hadn’t had any spare money for souvenirs; no spare *time* to dawdle, to *be* a tourist: she had come to Paris with a clear *mission*, and it was unthinkable to browse through postcards and trinkets when it was so much more important to seek out the small office building where she’d been told her audition would be held.
(It had only been when, all too briefly, she’d stood at the foot of the Opera itself, that she had allowed herself a moment of unrestrained awe.)
What is she *now*, she wonders? No longer the pursuant of some simple and clear-cut goal. Perhaps even-less of a tourist than she was before—isn’t she *staying*?—but certainly no nearer to being a *local*.
The crowds and carts slip out of view as Christine follows her friend back down into the metro station. Maybe she’ll come back and look for them again later—when there’s no rush, nowhere else to be. She could buy a present for Mama; something small and simple to send in the mail; some tiny bit of Paris for her to flaunt to the other ladies at the coffee house.
A question from Darius tugs Christine away from her contemplation of how one might safely mail a miniature snow-globe; she glances across at him where he leans against the wall of the station, and a small smile quirks her mouth at his words.
“I’d sing anywhere,” she says, with a bright toss of her head. “I was happy singing in shopping plazas, when I was little. The thought of going somewhere like London, or New York…singing in one of the great theatres there, the concert halls…*any* of them…” she trails off, her awed expression speaking more eloquently than words ever could; she sighs softly. “But Paris. *Yes*: Paris has always been the goal. And…not just Paris—but, the Opera, specifically.“
Here, she turns, leaning her own back against the wall, her gaze moving to regard a colourful poster at the opposite side of the tunnel, her expression once more bashful as she considers how best to continue her story.
“It…it’s kind of silly. I used to have this friend, years ago. His–his aunt was the one who got me interested in opera. She had an old album, all different great opera pieces, that she had us listen to one day. She was always playing things for us—hoping to save the next generation from the scourge of pop music, I think,” Christine says, lip curled in fond amusement, “and…I guess it finally worked that day. I’d never heard anything so beautiful.”
From somewhere farther along the track, a low grumble heralds the approach of a train, and Christine hastens to finish her story while she can still be heard.
“They were French; she had been here, to the Opera, years before she moved to Halland; she said it was the greatest opera house in the world—that that was how it had gotten the name ’palace’. I remember, she had this old postcard with pictures of the building on it, that she showed me once—and I thought it was so beautiful—as beautiful as the music itself—that she had to be right, about it being *special*… I knew I wanted to be, to be *part* of that someday…"
Christine lets the whine of the incoming train save her from rambling further, chewing at her lip as the hulk of metal pulls towards the platform, almost thankful for the interruption.

About Darius
You should view my webpage ON A COMPUTER. Or use DESKTOP VIEW setting in your mobile WEB-BROWSER. Not the Tumblr app. So I can’t be bothered with posting the images that go along with this since you can’t be bothered to go to the proper platform. (Sorry, mun is annoyed about this.)
“This one’s tale is one most unknown. He is not known for the tall tales of a clever wit and tongue. He is not known well at all. Niflheim of the timeless bore this one. Muspel was his womb. This one was not born of flesh and blood. This one came from whispers in the depths of a mirror’s mind. The whispers of dark desires, of murder, of lust, and of depravity. For that reason, the names most tied to I are that of darkness. If darkness were to have a face, I would be that face. If darkness were to want a voice, I would speak in its name. Darkness is cold and calculating and darkness is in my veins.”
Darius is not Loki as one would know him to be. He is not Loki in myth nor is he Loki in Marvel. He is his own entity. He is the darkness that was harbored in another, manifested in jotun form. He has no family. He has no home. Darius wanders the streets of the only realm he knows, Earth, or what he would call Midgard.
He has no goals or missions in life, only just to experience until his dying breath. He does not understand pain and emotion as we would. He does not understand sorrow and anguish. These things are unknown to him, and though they try to leave their mark on his dark soul, their efforts are in vain. His are the desires of a madman, of a psycho, of a killer. What actions he wants to take, he takes them. He does not give himself time to think of the consequences.

INFORMATION
Name: Darius Eirik Manngason (Manngason = “son of no one”) Nicknames: Loki, Dalie, Blueberry, Smurf, Dark One, Once-Thought, Dark Incarnation, Loki Loptrson Wishlist Nickname: None; he gives no fucks toward names Birthday: January 17th (Zodiac Capricorn) Age: Physically 5 years (his body was created July 23, 2012), looks like mid-thirties, contains the wealth of knowledge of Loki, so acts much older than either of the previously listed ages. Ethnicity: Jotunn (Frost Giant) Height: 6’4” (male) / 5’8” (female) Weight: Approx 635lbs (but feels like 200lbs with his levitation spell) Body Type: Darius is much unlike the stereotypical build of Loki. His frame is thick with muscle, yet he is still ‘small’ by Asgardian standards for warriors. When compared to someone like Thor, Darius would still appear small-framed. However, Darius stands physically taller than Loki by two or three inches, making him eye-level to Thor. Darius possesses a thicker, squarer jawline, and his eyebrows looks more chiseled and prominent than that of Loki’s. Skin color: Deep blue, close to ultramarine blue in Jotun form, pale white/alabaster (like humans) in Aesir form. Eye Color: Red with red sclera in Jotun form, green eyes with white sclera in Aesir form. Hair: Raven black, mid-length hair Scars: A large yet subtle scar across his stomach/abdominal region and a smaller more prominent one over his sternum. Burns: No Over weight: No Under weight: No Other Physical Traits: He has markings all over his body in his Jotun form that are akin to very thin, raised lines, giving him a somewhat tribal appearance. However, the thin lines are easily unnoticeable as they are so thin and barely raised. One would likely have to be looking for them, or they must be under some harsh lighting’s angle. Smells like: Differs based off of the shampoos/body washes he uses, mostly consisting of sandalwood, citrus, or cinnamon. Without the influence of shampoos/body wash, he would have a “freezer burn” kind of smell. Speech Traits: Deep voice, he speaks as though he has an accent, yet the accent is no definable match to any existing accents. Stance: He has a very rigid stance, appearing taller than he is, which is very tall. His feet are about 24 inches apart when he stands. Walk: He has something of a saunter-like walk, very casual and relaxed no matter the place or occasion. He walks with confidence and as though he has extreme familiarity of his surroundings. Common Gestures: Occasionally, he may tap his fingers on his side. He often shifts his weight from one foot to another every few minutes. He tends to move his head around as though he is looking for details. When exposed to many sounds or scents, he will sometimes close his eyes as he is very over-stimulated by his senses. Facial Expressions: He has a very unreadable face. It hints at multiple feelings, yet the eyes tell you that feelings are not present. He sometimes scowls, he sometimes look perplexed, and sometimes he even looks upset or depressed. Clothes and Shoes: He isn’t particularly picky about clothes. He will generally stick to flannel shirts that button up, although sometimes he will wear a thin long-sleeved or sleeveless undershirt, generally black in color. The flannel shirts tend to be vibrant red plaid shirts. He will wear an array of jeans, the most of which will be dark blue, grey, or black. Cosmetics: He doesn’t use too much, being a low-maintenance sort of fellow. He will occasionally use some oil to slick his hair back. Education: Religious education, Apprenticeship, Non-traditional education. Self-taught, very intelligent. Financial Status: Wealthy Lives in: an abandoned insane asylum located in Finland with no immediate neighboring buildings/residencies. Languages Known: English, Finnish, Swedish, Ancient Norse, Icelandic, Norweigan, Jotun, Asgardian Relationship Status: Single Sexual Orientation: Omnisexual, Sexuality: Sexually adventurous, experienced, promiscuous. Romantic Orientation: Romance repulsed Religious views: Atheistic, believes in an afterlife, believes in reincarnation, aliens exist (he’s proof of them). Beliefs: He believes that nothing matters. This is his biggest belief. One can spend their life trying to accomplish a great many things, however in the long run, their actions will be forgotten. They will be forgotten. The future will not remember them, no matter what. Perhaps some surviving documents will last for centuries, however Darius believes nothing lasts forever. Family: He has NO parents, NO siblings, and four children. Twins by Thanos and a daughter by an alternate Loki named Layla (all childrens’ whereabouts are unknown), and one son by simactire named Icarus (Dalie’s not allowed to see said son because of reasons…) Classification: He is an emotionless homicidal, suicidal, cannibalistic, sadistic, psychopathic sociopath. Reputation: He is well known to be violent and dangerous. Motto: “I don’t care.” Moral Code: He has no moral code. Fears: He has none. Strengths: He is physically strong. His logical thinking often puts an end to irrational emotional impulses. Weaknesses and Shortcomings: His apathy is very disruptive in his day-to-day actions. He also feels mildly uncomfortable at anything mentioning the heart. Personality Flaws: Paranoid, Schizoid, Antisocial. Severity of each is noticeable and somewhat disruptive. Desperation: He isn’t exactly desperate. His apathetic view on life disables any yearning. Most and Least Self-Serving Actions: Sex is the most self-serving thing he does on a frequent basis. He enjoys the way it feels and disregards what his partner feels. Least self-serving would be to help anyone else. He sees no point in doing that. Prejudices: He will look at someone and throw stereotypes at them in a very rude way. He will call a woman who has had many partners a slut. He will call a man who lays with another man gay in an offensive way. He belittles women, believing that being male is just more fun. However whether he actually feels this way is unknown. In truth, Darius does a lot of things mainly to get a rise out of someone. He will be mean, nasty, and cruel, do nearly whatever it takes to upset someone. Secrets: He has no secrets. He is a very open and free type of guy. He does not worry so much about the consequence of others knowing what it is he does. However, he does not offer such information freely. Usually one has to ask, otherwise he will not talk. Secrecy about Personal Information: Open and honest. Reliability of Memory: Eidetic (though due to rising mental conditions, some memories have been erased) Sense(s) of Humor: Vulgar, Complex, Dark, Physical, Openly displayed, Unique, and Passive (provides commentary) Special talent(s): Not possessing any fucks to give about anyone or anything. Images That Remind Me of Darius: Linked here. (To prevent lag in this page’s loading) Struggling With: Obtaining fucks to give.

STORY TIME:
Darius’ real name is Loki Loptrson. He was created by Loki (specifically my muse, LokaTattur, a.k.a. LiefullyLoki) and in some ways or another he /is/ Loki.
Darius started out solely as a thought in Loki’s mind. By this, I mean he was the dark voice in LokaTattur’s mind. We all have a dark side, we all have that little voice or conscious half that knows it’s wrong but won’t stop you from thinking of doing an evil deed. It’s your own will power that prevents you from acting out on your dark thoughts.
Darius is those dark thoughts, that whim you never let yourself take. In this particular case, he’s that for LokaTattur, or as he once was called “Liefully.” (My original Loki blog was LiefullyLoki, Darius came later and his original blog was DalieIsInYourCloset.)
My precious Liefully had once been so beaten and tortured by Thanos for a bargain he never made (his identity was mistaken since there are so many Lokis out there), that he didn’t nearly die, he truly did die. He was fortunate that another Loki, AsgardianOutcast, cared enough about him that he wasn’t willing to let Liefully stay dead. He bargained with Hel to free Liefully.
Ever since that time, Liefully was never the same again. He got PTSD, he got it really bad. Asgardian was there for him, though. And while Liefully changed into this new person, Asgardian loved him and protected him all the same.
One fateful week, Asgardian had to return to his own universe (because every Loki lives in an alternate reality) and was gone for a week because he had to go to war with another realm (he was king of Asgard). Liefully would’ve been fine spending that week alone.
The problem came in the form of Thanos.
Thanos returned to Earth to find Liefully, he started threatening those Liefully cared about to tell him where Loki is. This caused Liefully to completely snap. And Darius stepped in the place of this broken god and wielded control over Liefully’s form. Liefully was so out of sorts, he allowed his dark thoughts to manifest, become stronger, and become violent. His logic was if he could push away everyone he loved, they’d be safe from harm. They were only in danger because Loki cared about them. So he let Darius, who was only just the dark thoughts in his head at the time, take over and be as vicious and violent as he wanted all in an effort to push them away, to deter them.
Asgardian came back, and it was good that he did. He was able to snap Liefully out of it, where no one else, not even Loki’s brother, could.
But Darius didn’t want to go away. He didn’t want to recede. He had a taste of life and he wanted more. Since he knew everything there was to know about his mind-sharer, he used that to press all of Liefully’s buttons, the ones that would make him break, make him snap, so that Darius could get control again.
It wasn’t working. Asgardian was there and he was watching over Liefully carefully. Darius was soon only able to communicate with others when Liefully chose to rest. He then encountered another Loki, TheWickedLoki, who gave him a deal. Wicked would give Darius the body he wanted and Darius would do what Wicked wanted.
Darius took this deal. So, soon after, he was born to his very own body from the use of magic and the blood and hair of Loki (Wicked and yet another Loki’s hair/blood sample).
Fully grown, Darius had all of Liefully’s memories and no idea how to feel. The memories were like movies to Darius. He could see them, hear them, but he could not feel them, not smell them, not taste them. Liefully’s memories were, for the most part, useless to Darius.
However, he used a lot of them to be able to articulate, to be able to construe things, like knowing fire burns without having to feel it. This led to one factors of Darius’ fearlessness. He knew things that he didn’t have to experience. He because a highly rational thinker, disabling the needs or natural inclination for all emotions.
Darius originally had no emotions. But as time went on, he gained life experiences that he couldn’t get from Liefully’s memories. He learned what pain felt like, he learned what meat tasted like, so on and so forth. Over time, he learned many of the things we learn in our infancy and childhood.
While Darius is indeed a grown male, he is also much like a child, still learning a lot of things. His curiosity leads him to do strange things. As the once-thought of Liefully’s dark side, Darius has carried out many of the cruel acts that Liefully would think of but never dare do. So Darius’ dark inclination is because of his origins. And his behavior is due to his lack of experience in so much that we take for granted. Of course, he’s also just a big douche-bagel who loves pissing everyone off or freaking everyone out.
Darius’ weaknesses are very hard to see when one speaks with and interacts with him, but he too suffers greatly from the split. He longs for the solitude he was immensely used to. Being in his own body, Darius has learned much to his dismay that he cannot turn away from his physical senses and signals and sometimes these olfactory senses drive him mad. The silence, darkness, and solitude of Loki’s mind was an experience Darius had taken far for granted and has never been able to regain as a result of the split. Granted, he has learned to live with his olfactory senses, he stills longs for that peace of the mind.
Additional Info:
Darius was also severely desensitized to everything because he carried with him a copy of all of Loki’s memories and knowledge when he gained his own corporeal form. He has the knowledge to know the cause and effects of so many things yet he doesn’t have the feelings (physical or emotional) that are tied to the knowledge he has. One example of this is: You know that cutting your hand means it will bleed. For Darius, he has this knowledge. But before he was given his own body, he didn’t know the sensations that were tied to this. Thus, he was mentally ready for a cut of the hand and the sensations caused by the action didn’t train him to avoid being cut. Instead, when Darius experiences a cut of the hand, he registers the tingling sensations of the nerves telling him of pain, he feels his hand getting hot as blood rushes to the spot, he feels the way the cut skin reacts to any flexing movements done to it. Instead of having every desire to avoid it, these feelings make him curious. He already knows the consequences of a cut, but he doesn’t necessarily know the sensations tied to them.
So, in short, Darius doesn’t function like Loki at all. He might have Loki’s blood, Loki’s memories, and Loki’s knowledge of magic, potions, and spells, but he’s not Loki. He’s only part of Loki. Both he and Loki are parts of one another, yet they act as separate wholes.
(Daria = Darius’s female name)
Common Misconceptions About Darius:
Emotions (this one is long): A lot of people are very used to a character that possesses emotions, even if they’re hidden/masked. For Loki, most expect him to be angry when he brings pain to others, even if he’s clearly laughing maniacally as he does it. Your instinct is to assume he has some kind of negative emotions burrowing deep within that cause him to do what he does. Everyone has the instinct that behind every action and saying, there’s some emotion driving it. Darius wasn’t born like a normal individual. He didn’t have a childhood. He didn’t develop a brain like we do. Darius was born in the mind of another, completely devoid of feeling emotions toward what he could hear and see and having the wisdom and comprehension of one who has already learned the rewards and consequences of their actions. He was designed to function without emotional bias. After he was kind of transplanted from one mind to his own body to control, this is when Darius began developing his own olfactory senses. He’s still learning a lot! But for the most part, his mental state was developed before he obtained a physical form, so he processes everything very differently from others!!! We know not to do certain things because of their consequences, like sticking your hand in a fire burns and hurts. For Darius, he knows full well the consequences for his actions, but instead of fearing getting hurt, he finds it a mind-boggling function of the physical form and tries to understand it by doing that which most would learn not to do when they were young. He’s not biased by emotional responses because he has not developed emotions enough to have emotional responses. So he doesn’t feel afraid to get hurt, he doesn’t have any phobias and worries about one thing or another because he didn’t develop like a child would. Despite being incredibly intelligent and calculating, there’s a whole lot he doesn’t know, a whole lot that he didn’t have the benefits of a childhood to develop so while he is most certainly a full-grown adult, he is also a child about many things, emotions being one of them. He has himself psyched out to think he can’t feel and when you have never felt emotions before, it’s very hard to identify them within yourself. Every emotion he learns is heavily tied to the physical indicators of that emotional response. And since he has a lifetime stuffed in his head that’s completely devoid of the emotional context of each memory (we’re talking about Loki’s memories, not Darius’ memories), he’s come to expect that level of emotional magnitude, which is no feelings. To him, a lot of things are like watching a film. He can see what’s happening and hear what’s happening, but he has no emotional context for those things so what he sees doesn’t inspire emotional responses. So to put things simply, Darius is almost completely lacking in emotions. He’s learning them slowly, but for now, he hasn’t felt the full emotional spectrum.
Getting angry: A lot of people are very used to being able to piss someone off by calling them names or drudging up unfavorable memories for that individual or even physically poking and prodding them until they burst with rage. Well, that stuff doesn’t work on Darius. Being one that lacks the ability to feel irrationally emotional over things, calling him names are either interpreted as “Duh” or “That’s weird, but okay.” You can totally call him a blueberry or a smurf, he isn’t going to get mad. His thought process works this way: “Oh, I see what you’re doing there. You’re calling me a blueberry because my skin’s blue.” And insinuating names that most would find insulting like “retard,” he just sees the misconception of the name. It’d be like calling a cat a dog. The cat doesn’t care what you call it, even if that’s an incorrect identification of the animal. It’s going to continue going about it’s catty business. As far as Darius is concerned, you can call him a horse-fucker (since people sometimes mistake him for Loki who once did the deed with a horse) and all he thinks is “Well, I didn’t fuck a horse, so you’re wrong. That’s on you, not me. -shrug-” Darius has absolutely no emotional response that will drive him to want to contradict someone’s accusation of him. Someone can be like “I bet you can’t do that!” and he’ll respond with “Yeah, I can.” and if they say “Prove it!” He’d just be like “Why? I don’t care if you believe me or not. That doesn’t change the fact that I can do what I said I can do.” It’s another misconception that he feels grumpy. He might act and sound grumpy, but he’s rarely in this negative end of the spectrum.
Murderer’s gonna do what a murderer’s gonna do: A lot of people think “Oh shit, Darius is a murderer, he’s a psychopath, he’s sadistic. Fuck, my muse is doomed.” Nope, that’s not quite so. Sure there’ll be times where Darius will blatantly hurt your muse, but he gets a lot of fun from picking them apart psychologically. He loves to try to figure out what makes people tick. So you can expect him entering in conversations with muses and be several replies in without having made any actual life-threatening actions or threats toward your muse’s life. He may be a murderer but murdering takes energy and sometimes he just doesn’t feel like murdering, sometimes he just wants to talk. I’m not saying that’s a good thing! Sometimes he uses conversation to learn of someone’s weaknesses and insecurities so he can use that against them later. He’s a man without a plan, but he acts like someone who knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s strange like that. Besides, one of his most popularly repeated sayings is “Dead things are no fun.” He gets a lot more enjoyment in ‘experimenting’ on others. He loves to test the boundaries and
My muse is going to annoy the fuck out of him: This is really similar to getting angry, being that it’s nearly impossible to annoy Darius. All the usual tactics one can employ to annoy someone don’t really work on Darius. You can’t talk his ear off, he’ll listen patiently. You can’t insult him, he wouldn’t care. You can’t drudge up bad memories, he doesn’t have them. You can pull pranks on him and he’ll usually respond in the most anti-climactic way. A most commonly referred to example is the time an Anon decided to dunk hot salsa all over him. He didn’t get mad, he was more like “Really? What a waste of salsa.” No “WHY DID YOU DO THAT, YOU LITTLE BITCH, IMMA WRONG YOUR NECK.” It was just “Darn, I just took a shower too. Guess I have to go take another one now…” That’s not to say it’s impossible to annoy him. The ways in which Darius functions.
Reverse Psychology: It generally doesn’t work on him. You’ll never know if saying “Leave me alone” will make him want to stay and continue causing trouble for your muse or if he’ll be like “Okay, bye.” Likely, if he knows what your muse wants, he makes the conscious choice of whether or not he wants to give it to them. It’s going to be a 50/50 chance. If your muse tries to psyche him out by stating something to the opposite of what they want him to follow through with, chances are he’ll follow through with that thing the muse told him to do. This is really complicated and I can’t give any solid examples as to what I mean. It’s a little like Princess Bride, that scene where Westley and the balding guy had a duel of witts. Darius is Westley in that case. Your muse will likely lose one way or another.
He’s dark, he’s into the kinky shit: Not necessarily. He gets off on feeling power but he doesn’t exactly get a hard-on if it’s clear your muse is in pain. He likes knowing he’s in control and hates not being in control. He’s not a Dom, he’s an attacker, there’s a huge difference. Mainly being, there’s no such thing as a safe word for him. He’s going to do what satisfies his carnal needs and will probably make little effort to ensure his partner is also enjoying things. This doesn’t mean he’s into hand cuffs, leather, whips, chains, etc. He’s a little less easy to pin than that. It doesn’t mean he’s not open to those things, but usually he’s going to do things his way or he’s going to leave and find someone else to “play” with.
FACECLAIMS
In case anyone’s confused… Darius is blue skinned and his eyes are solid red. Darius’ skin has thinly raised jotun marking all over his body. Like this:
He has TWO male face claims. One is Tom Hiddleston (as Loki):
And the other is Ian Somerhalder (as Damon):
The reason for this is because Damon has a lot of mannerisms that are very Darius-like to me. But in my mind, he still looks like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, regardless of the face claim.
Darius’ female face claim is Eva Green (in various roles):
