also I fully believe if the Menendez trial(s) happened today it would have swung in the brothers' favor for two distinct reasons: 1) metoo means people are way more willing to believe survivors of sexual assault, including boys and men and 2) there would have been so much more public backlash as a result of disallowing making any part of their abuse part of their defense in the second trial they would have had to reverse it, if it was even attempted at all

This is so out of nowhere but do you think Sirius would want to get married and start a family? Like kids and stuff. Both as a character in canon and in GC. I’ve been thinking about it deep and hard lately. And i wanted to know what you think? cause i believe you have such good grasp on him (and other marauders era characters as well).
Oh, this is a brilliant question! At first, I wasn't sure, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense in my head, so hear me out:
I think Sirius was absolutly horrified by the idea of marriage in early teens. He was beyond scared since the marriages he was mostly exposed to when he was a child weren't born of love, but rather of political arrangements.
I think he sees marriage as an institution (he hates those) that his parents were ready to ascribe themselves –and him– to. A political ploy for power or blood purity or whatever it might be the Blacks had in their eyes at the time. Not something to aspire to, but something to repudiate (like he did with most Noble House of Black-related things).
In fact, I think part of Sirius' playboy persona was born from this, he thought relationships weren't all that, and was scared of commitment bc he thought he knew how they would end, which is why he dated around instead of devoting himself to a relationship. His behaviour was somewhat of a defence mechanism against his perceived inevitability of future failure (also it enraged Walburga and Sirius would have done anything to enrage her).
When Sirius got to live with the Potters, and the more time he spent with them (wasn't that much, unfortunately), he saw that things weren't always the same. That relationships didn't have to be toxic and they didn't have to end the way they did in the Black family.
He learned that not all relationships are about give and take, but some are just about giving and receiving, and he was fascinated by this. He finally understood why James wanted a relationship (and a marriage) with Lily.
And while this gave Sirius a new perspective on how things can be, it didn't erase the fact that he was scared of it. He was scared that he was too much of a Black and he wouldn't be able to have something like the Potters, but instead, he would inevitably end up like his parents –because it was in his blood.
I think the same applies to children, Sirius is too scared to be like his parents and fuck his children up, although I do think he likes kids since he always proved to be fond of Harry, Ron and Hermione after he met them. But especially Harry, he loved him like he had been his own kid, or I guess the same way he loved James, like family.
Having said that, and while I don't think Sirius would expect a grandiose wedding or anything of the sort, I do think, after some time and finding a partner that he loves and living with them for a while, and therefore knowing what it is to be in a relationship with them and having evidence that he wouldn't end like his parents, he could entertain the idea of marriage, and would eventually open to one (perhaps even to having children).
Same thing applies to GC Sirius, in fact, and you'll see this once the chapters have been posted, but Sirius is already entertaining an idea similar to this while watching the Potters during the Christmas break (Still a few chapters to go, though).

Hey, quick question if you don't mind me asking but what are your thoughts on Drew Tanaka as a character and how she was portrayed in HOO?
canon drew...well. i rbed this post that says "drew was not written as a character but rather a human obstacle who needed to be feminine so the ‘not like other girls’ could defeat her," and i think that summarizes it perfectly. she exists exclusively to make piper look good, which is a real shame bc drew could've been interesting. as-is, drew is not only uninteresting, piper is also uninteresting by extension. it'd be like if nancy was one of percy's greatest obstacles in tlt.
more under the cut bc i'm incapable of keeping things short.
here, in her introduction, not only is drew, a feminine girl, vain, she's also weak and unintimidating, a triple whammy right away! she has no reason to be antagonistic towards piper here, they literally just got to camp. piper's crime right now is *checks notes* not looking cute and existing next to a "good-looking guy." oh, yeah, btw drew likes jason for being hot and powerful.
this triple whammy isn't even restricted to drew, it's the entire aphrodite cabin. they all giggle when drew flirts w jason and when piper is uncomfortable being "gorgeous" and are too scared and weak to stand up to drew. the two exceptions are a guy who got in trouble for saying piper "might not be so bad" and a girl who's afraid of ugly shoes. what an uninteresting take.
anyway, moments like this
are everywhere. now, let's remember for a moment that the aphrodite cabin (including drew!) fought in a war where they were outnumbered and won. but yeah, their biggest strength is their ability to "make an orange t-shirt glamorous" bc piper is the only one out of them who can *checks notes* uhhh run? charmspeak on a quest? carry a knife? she doesn't even know how to fight in tlh! she wasn't at camp for more than two days, she never had any fighting experience! the fact that she's being called tougher than ppl who fought in a war makes me grit my teeth. and thalia was there when it happened!
and it doesn't even makes sense bc we see aphrodite like this is ttc
and she says this in tlh
(also sidenote: why is aphrodite's claiming so egregious and uncomfortable then? it's like rick has a moment of clarity and realizes he's being stupid and then immediately fucks it up again.)
this is interesting! and some of these kids (including drew!) would have met this aphrodite during the solstices. so portraying drew and the aphrodite cabin as a bunch of shallow kids obsessed w makeup that need to be saved by piper "not like other girls" mclean is so contrived. and constantly bringing up how piper's so much better than those shallow and weak aphrodite kids makes piper's entire character grating. rick brings up aneaus repeatedly throughout tlh, a son of venus/aphrodite that founded rome. why are we acting like aphrodite children are weak and stupid when we could be exploring literally anything else? like, you know, how they're traumatized?
and the thing is, he brings up silena! and it's done terribly. piper, who never knew silena and never will, lecturing drew, someone who knew silena and was betrayed by her, has always pissed me off. piper relating to silena bc she feels like she's in the same position? good, that's fine, i have no problem w this. but acting like she knew silena to ppl who actually did and then preaching abt what silena believed should've gotten her smacked (rick didn't even addressed the actual important part, which is how the other campers feel abt silena or how they feel abt surviving a war).
then when piper challenges drew, again, drew fought in a war while piper hasn't trained for a single day, why are we acting like piper could beat drew in a fight? piper can't even use charmspeak bc drew's resistant to it! that's the one advantage piper has! writing it like this comes off like piper is only strong as long as everyone else is weak. she's not rising to a challenge, her competitor is just so pathetic that she can overpower them. she didn't earn her strength. that's not good character development! so we're throwing two entire character arcs away for this!
what really gets me abt all of this is that piper didn't need to be a counselor. piper needed a place to belong. making drew nothing more than a stepping-stone was completely unnecessary, and making the aphrodite cabin weak and vain was redundant bc we already had an example w silena (and again, all the kids that fought in a war). as it is in canon, drew's character is a great example of some of rick's biggest writing flaws.

Ohh anon i've got a list.
When it comes to the tv show there are a few choices the writers made that just don't sit right with me.
Laenor
I do like the characterization they went for, he's a pretty cool dude who really loves his weird, dysfunctional family. What I really don't like is how they handled his death.
See I truly can't stand it when a character is sugar coated just because they're the protagonist and thus must be righteous and always objectively correct.
So to witness the writers white wash his murder, having him flee to essos instead of being killed by Rhaenyra pisses me off. I get that after showing them being good friends it would be very odd to have her kill him.
But that's the thing, they should have opted for a more ruthless Rhaenyra in the first place!
Laenor's death in the books (at least for me) was the first instance of Rhae Rhae making morally wrong choices in order to pursue her ultimate goal. It was compelling! Here she just takes the easy way out, without having to make a tough choice.
Also his survival really fucks her up when you really think about it. Now all her sons are bastards since her marriage to Daemon isn't valid, and for the upcoming season 2, how are they going to handle Addam and Seasmoke? Laenor is still alive, his dragon won't accept a new rider. This doesn't make any sense and just causes plotholes what the actual fu-
Sidenote: After Laenor's very moving speech on how he was done goofing off and was now willing to really step up for Rhaenyra and their family it's super strange to imagine him ditching them all immediately afterwards Lol.
Rhaenys
My gosh, where do I even begin with this woman?
She too is pretty cool at the start, but then episode 9 rolls around and I roll my eyes.
She's so hypocritical. She tries to shit on Alicent for "toiling in the service of men." When that's all she does in the goddamn story!
She wants Baela to get Driftmark, tells Corlys about it, he shuts off the whole plan cause he wants a kid who he's not even related to on the driftwood throne, and when she complains about it he dismisses her.
So what does feminist Rhaenys do about it?
She... submits to her husband, something she conveniently forgets about when talking to Alicent. My god. Just remove this entire exchange, it hurts to watch.
And the coronation scene, Jesus Christ! It was so cool in the books, why did they have to ruin it? Had they replaced it with something better I wouldn't have complained, but this is just, the worst.
Rhaenys shows how badass she is by.... Brutally crushing hundreds of small folks to death and almost slaughtering the greens.

And you know what's even more infuriating? When she flees to Dragonstone to inform Rhaenyra of all that happened. She says she didn't kill the greens cause she didn't wish to start a war. I'm sorry what?
That would have ended the war at the start! As glad as I am that Rhaenys didn't barbecue them it makes absolutely no sense!
If she had killed them there would have been no dance in the first place!
I hate these dumb show only moments. They needlessly complicated an already complicated story and just mess everything up.
There's probably other stuff I could rant on, like how Aegon was made a rapist sorely to make the audience think:
Oh look! The greens are so baad, they believe a rapist alcoholic douche should be in charge instead of our empowered dragon queen, they sure do suck!
Or how house Velaryon was disrespected and mistreated by D*emyra but still somehow decided to support Nyra's claim.
They didn't really have a motive to be greens though, so I think they should have stayed neutral. Their fervent black support makes no sense.
The writers really should have given them more reasons to back up the blacks or had their beloved queen treat them better so that their loyalty made more sense ( I mean holy hell I wonder how they will handle the two betrayers and Corlys's arrest lmao).
But other greens have already shat on these awful decisions and I won't beat a dead horse.
Book
When it comes to fire and blood I surprisingly have very little complaints, except of course, the Jaehaera situation.
My poor baby deserved better, I've made a post about it in the past
(where I ranted and said stuff I kind of regret now, don't post while very angry guys I don't recommend it)
tackling how the little queen was unnecessarily killed off and how her death genuinely adds nothing so why was it added? God I get upset just thinking about it lol.
Some people say George did it cause he needed Aegon's kids to be born after Viserys's, and apparently he couldn't fathom a married teen not having kids until her 20s, which is veery weird.
The more plausible theory is that he got rid of her cause he wanted more Velaryon queens to showcase how close they used to be to the Targs.
Which is something I had understood already thanks to Alyssa, the sea Snake and all the Velaryons who were masters of ships but whatever.

Admins don't care.
I don't know who reported me for multi-accounting, but you were right. I did have multiple accounts. I abandoned my original account a few years ago for personal reasons. I no longer felt safe on that account - and as a sidenote, I no longer liked my progens. I was originally wind flight. That was ten years ago, and I'm so removed from wind flight now it's my least favorite flight. I wanted new progens.
So I made a new account, with an entirely new aesthetic. I abandoned my original account entirely. I never funneled any resources or used my accounts to cheat, and I don't participate in dom, so there was no reason for me to "spy" in flight specific forums. I couldn't care less about dom.
In fact, I gave away or sold for very cheap pretty much all of my high dollar items and dragons. I was glad to do it - I only kept dragons with sentimental value.
But then I fell in love with having accounts with different aesthetics. I don't care what anyone says - tabs are not the same. I had a water flight account and a nature flight account, both of which I eventually became bored with, neither of which I used to "cheat." It was time to switch aesthetics. But the thing is, I spend real money on this game. It's what I do with my disposable income - make pretty dragons. I didn't want to sell the dragons I had spent real money on for pennies. I liked them. I wanted to keep them - I just didn't want to play with them anymore. And I wasn't going to throw them into my hibden, because hibden is part of the aesthetic too, at least in my pea brain.
So, I made a new account. I spent real money setting it up and giving genes to my dragons, as I had done in the past. Call me a whale, I suppose - I've been called worse. I guess I was too obvious about it, because it certainly didn't look like a regular newbie account, and someone reported me. And like I said, they were right. But they were also wrong, because I was not "cheating" as in funneling resources to benefit a primary account. I was simply using multiple accounts to contain different aesthetics, and every time I switched to a new aesthetic I abandoned the previous account. I am a relatively moral person - I don't believe in cheating.
The only time I can think I did anything that might have been considered ethically "wrong" was when auraboas were released; I gave into temptation and hatched eggs on my abandoned original account, but of the four I hatched I exalted two, so I called it "fair" in my mind.
Anyway, banhammer. I messaged the admins and told them yes, I had multiple accounts, but I had bought everything fair and square. I was going to show them the email receipts, but they didn't give me a chance to. "Our records show that these accounts exist to benefit a primary account..." blah, blah, blah.
The thing is my family plays this game. Three other members of my family play this game. They all were banned too.
So, I told the admins the names of my accounts and the names of my family members' accounts. I told them to ban my accounts if they needed to, but to please unlock my family members' accounts. I was as transparent and honest as I knew how to be. They did not care in the least. I don't think they even read my messages, to be frank.
The lesson to be learned here is don't use multiple accounts, even if you use them in the "right" way. And if you're going to, don't be too damn good at it, because someone will stick their nose where it doesn't belong and fuck you (and your family and friends) all up.
I really don't mind my accounts being banned. They're still mine; I still made them, and my pretty dragons are still there for me to look at. But it pisses me off that my family lost their accounts. It pisses me off that I've supported this game monetarily for over ten years and no one would even take the time to listen.
It pisses me off that I asked for help with my original account, and no one would help me. It honestly pisses me off that - as insignificant as it may seem - I've suggested allowing progenitor re-rolling when switching flights (with a high fee, of course) as a solution for those who are unsatisfied with their only supposedly "custom" dragon, and it was never considered or implemented in ten years' time. Some people, especially if you've been playing a long time, just don't jive with the flight they originally chose for their progens, or they don't like their eye color anymore or whatever.

Cheating. Was it cheating? I don't know. I don't think it was. Like I said, I spent money. I certainly didn't PROFIT from having multiple accounts. In fact, I lost money holding my giveaways. Was it stupid? Probably. Definitely. But I'm allowed to do stupid things with my own stupid money, because I fucking enjoy it. The other issue is people and minding their own damn business. I. BUY. GEMS. Sometimes I buy lots of gems, and I buy pretty things with those gems because IT. MAKES. ME. HAPPY. It's MY GODDAMN BUSINESS.
I cannot count how many times I stood up for the admins over the years in the forums when the community would lose its' shit at them for this reason or that, and they wouldn't even unlock accounts of users who were completely innocent, just because we share a household. Ban mine, that's fair, and I possibly deserve it, maybe, perhaps, depending on how you look at it, but at least fucking look into the others I told you belonged to someone else.

Shepherd is actually Graves' father, through some fuckery. (Sidenote, this was my headcanon first, I just don't do Graves-centered content to have used it first)
Rodolfo is MEAN when overstimulated. He will have whoever he's talking to in tears for just the simple mistake of breathing in his direction when he's overstimulated. (Alejandro and Gaz are the exceptions, but the "breathe wrong in their direction" applies to them. Soap got snapped at for looking at Gaz in a "mean way")
Rodolfo gets upset when Alejandro isn't jealous and possessive over him because it makes him feel wanted, but it's cool because Alejandro is fairly jealous and possessive naturally
This does mean that if Alejandro has any slightly less dramatic reaction to anyone flirting with Rudy, Rudy gets pretty upset
Soap locked another authority figure in a trunk and everyone lost their minds when Price just goes "AGAIN, MACTAVISH?!"
Soap is "Mactavish" when Price is irritated at him
I know everyone jokes that Gaz is the one trying to be Price's son, but they're wrong. Price regularly tries to pass adoption papers off as other things and Gaz has had to start reading fine print before just blindly signing anything
"Can I call you my son?" "You can for ONE event, though I uh... have some concerns that no one will believe I'm your son." "What ever could you mean by that??? We have the same jawline!"
Speaking of, Gaz is BRITISH! I see headcanons a lot that he and Farah bully Alex by making him eat spicy food, but most headcanon Alex from Texas, and I'm not going to pretend Texas's food is to the same level of spice as a lot of real POC food, but it's more spicy than fucking British food. (I lived in Texas and there is not a damn thing you could call fucking "mild")
So, anyway, Gaz is the one who can't eat spicy food. Alex has no spice meter, he just knows what's really spicy, so Gaz has to warily eat anything Alex considers "mild"
Farah tries to joke around about Alejandro and Rudy in Arabic, but Rudy and Ale had to learn because of the cartel's involvement with AQ and their expansion to Al Mazrah, so she was very shocked when they just started responding back

Your Sweets and Daniel make my feelings all mushy. Like they’re the cutest.
What’s was the other drivers’ reactions to them dating?
I know they don’t wanna care but at the same time I feel like Sweets could feel a bit more worried maybe, especially after maybe PR trying to tell Daniel that people are questioning character or something. But we know Daniel for the wiiin he would never allow Sweets to try and push him away…at least I don’t think? I’m not entirely sure how you plan on writing them 🖤
I had to do so much thinking about this ask and I apologize for such a long wait.
So from the first part, where Sweets and Daniel reveal that they're together, we already know (or i already know) that a few drivers have known that they are together. (Putting the rest under read more)
The drivers that found out before the reveal are: Max, Charles, Lando, Sebastian, and Lance.
Lance finds out from Scotty and his sister. More so Scotty, because he couldn't shut his mouth about how his sister in law was going to be a singer. Lance doesn't have much of a reaction, a little how the fuck did you manage that? But is whatever.
Sebastian is the first driver Daniel tells. Daniel had been in a serious relationship or two before this, but nothing like what him and Sweets have, which is forever. So he goes to the one guy he knows understands what forever is in a relationship. Sebastian doesn't mind the relationship (is a little flattered that Daniel came to him about it), but does hope that they both know what they're doing.
Lando, Max and Charles, find out about them around the four month mark.
Lando is a bit jealous, he's got a bit of a sharing problem, but he also never says it outloud but he thinks the two are crazy for how serious they're treating the relationship.
Charles loves it, and he's happy that Daniel trusts him with this, considering they had some rocky moments. He also is the first driver to become friends with Sweets and is the only one to view himself as more of her friend than Daniel's by the time they reveal their relationship to everyone else.
Max is wary. He's seen Daniel in a few relationships. Seen the way Daniel has loved but never really put everything into it and Max doesn't know how to feel/think with how Daniel is putting his all into this one. After meeting Sweets though (and Max refuses to think about their first meeting more than he ever has too), Max realizes why Daniel has put is all into this relationship and likes Sweets, thinks she's a good fit for Daniel.
Okay, now onto to drivers who found out when everyone else did by reaction.
Thought it was cool/great: Mick, Pierre, George, Yuki, Nico, Fernando, Alex, Logan
Didn't care (aka no reaction): Kevin, Carlos, Nyck, Zhou, Valtteri, Checo, Oscar
Judgement: Esteban, Lewis
Sidenote: Logan and Sweets in this vaguely know each other, so Logan was stoked when he found out.
Now about Esteban and Lewis, because I don't want to get flamed. Esteban is judging her heavily here, because he once tried hitting on her at a party (she has no recollection of this) and she just stonewalled him.
Lewis is judging both of them, but he also judges all of the drivers and their girlfriends. He is still in his hoe era and thinks that getting into a serious relationship while still being on the grid is a bit stupid and will backfire on you. He was a bit whatever about it until finding out that they got together while Daniel was at McLaren, and then the judgement came in. He also is the only one that has a problem with age difference, he'll never say anything, but he's a firm believer that age differences like that are meant for one night stands/situationships, not an actual relationship.
You also mentioned PR and let me tell you, her PR not so happy, not because of the relationship itself, but more because they act like teenagers who aren't in the spotlight when they are one not teenagers and two very much in the spotlight.
Red Bull on the other hand fucking loves it. People having an issue with an age difference means nothing to them (ie: max and kelly) also dealing with Sweets and Daniels online antics is easier than the occasional shitstorm certain people cause for them.

Music I think Roy Kent likes and why
Madonna. In season 3, episode 3, Roy said, "[Pre-Madonna] means before Madonna, female vocalists didn't have to work that hard." This implies a great respect for Madonna and her craft. Also, it's an example of a very specific kind of queer guy misogyny that I find very humorous and implicative (of him being queer).
The Sex Pistols (and other punk rock). Two of their songs are in the Ted Lasso soundtrack. One of them specifically plays when Roy is about to do some pundit work for the first time. I think it's meant to be his hype up music. They're also, of course, anti-fascist and anti-monarchy, which I think Roy would vibe with. He's giving punk.
The music of the Muppets. Canonically (not that I necessarily consider this kind of thing canon, lol) a Muppets fan, I think he'd love the soundtracks to the movies, as well as the numbers they do on the original show.
Rap; Salt-n-Pepa, Queen Latifah, and Beyoncé. I just think he would like them. In season 1, episode 6, Keeley mentions that he has rapped, implying at least some interest in the genre.
Leonard Cohen. I think Roy's Jewish, and he's a broody, sensual bitch. It adds up perfectly. Sidenote: while "She's a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones was a great choice for the song he runs home to football to, I think Cohen's "Ain't No Cure for Love" would've fucking slayyyed..."I loved you for a long, long time / I know this love is real / It don't matter how it all went wrong / That don't change the way I feel / And I can't believe that time is gonna heal / This wound that I'm speaking of" "I've got you like a habit / And I'll never get enough" "I don't need to be forgiven / For loving you so much"
Klezmer. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he loves and misses his grandad...it's simple. He HAS a record player and a dope sound system, and on his shelves there ARE old klezmer records that he remembers dancing around to with his grandad in their old flat.
Amy Winehouse. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he is broody and bitchy, it is a given. "Rehab" is his anthem when his knee gets bad and he is reluctant to treat it.
Disco; Donna Summer and Jessie Ware. It's just great workout music, and it slays, and if he's queer, well, yes, of course he likes disco.
Pop rock; Elton John and Queen. If he's queer...it's a given. I think he particularly likes "I Think I'm Going to Kill Myself" and "Rocket Man", as he is suicidal (I can't find the interview where Goldstein said this) (it's just Word of God anyway), and the most rocket man motherfucker ever.
The music of the people he loves; Led Zeppelin, Cream, Tina Turner, and Stevie Nicks. Phoebe, Keeley, and Jamie like these musicians. He's a caring uncle, boyfriend, and friend. He is listening and learning. Also, I think Phoebe would be into some weird stuff, like outsider music - maybe some Tiny Tim. I think Roy would also enjoy the music of other friends, from plenty of other genres.

Right from the start you get these signs he's protective to a detrimental level lol
(BTW Aidlyn scene cuz I'm not normal about them ❤️ The way he literally wraps his whole body in front of her sent me lmao. Mans got his leg around her and everything 🤡)
He's pretty much like this with Taylor in all their scenes. In the Sorrel House he puts his arm in front of her when they see the phantom (that he does not think is real, considering his reaction).
He also has a tendency to drag Taylor away from situations with out asking for her opinion on it 🫠 He just kinda assumes she will want to go with him. Like when he drags her out of the house after saying the phantom was just a prank.

I don't think Red did this on purpose because like. She hasnt really brought up their culture/heritage or anything in the story so far lmao (I'm crying). But idk like just this behavior reminds me a lot of the guys in my family 🙃 I think Latino boys get kind of socialized to be more aggressive and protective of their families at their own expense. He definitely seems like the kind of brother to impose a curfew- He has control issues like. We all see it right? He's a control freak.
Obviously his dad dying has a lot to do with this. His mother took it extremely hard, so then Tyler "stepped up" to take care of both his mom AND his sister, he's been parentified since a very young age (he doesn't look older than 10 imo). I think he feels a need to "be the man of the house" so to speak. He genuinely does not seem to have any hard feelings towards his mom even tho she...you know, fucked up. if any of you know the "latino boys are mama boys" cliche, but.

(I do think Taylor has more mom issues because she kinda resents how Tyler has been parentified and she's allowed herself to be angry at their mom for leaving them to fend for themselves)
Sidenote: It looks like his family is very isolated. Like, its strange that nobody came to help Marianna after Ethan died. This isn't always the case but usually Latinos have large families (my mom's family had to push together eight beds so all the cousins could sleep in one room lol) WHICH probably means Tyler's branch of the family is, so far, the first and only to have immigrated to the US. He's probably already a second or third generation tho, his mom has only one surname and he and his sister never seem to speak Spanish, so I don't think they learned it (probably some basics). I don't imagine they've ever been to Mexico except MAYBE when they were very young (its kinda rare to visit...since...it's so hard to get out of there in the first place...🫠 I dont think my parents have been to Venezuela in more than 20 years...but also Venezuela is in way worse condition, so...)
But yeah like. His protectiveness of Taylor is something that actively works against her and something she dislikes. She always looks upset when he drags her out of a situation or tells her what to do. She just wants to help :(

Ofc she never says anything because for most of her life Tyler has put himself in a position of authority and is her caretaker. It's hard to speak up to somebody when they constantly say "I'm doing this for your own good, for your own safety, for-" Whatever. Taylor always believes Tyler does everything for her own best interests, so... even when she doesn't feel good about something, she'll still listen to him. It's a veryyyyyy slippery slope that can quickly become toxic, if it isn't already. Because besides being her brother, he's put himself as her parent figure as well.
He does the thing. You know. Where parentified kids try to overcorrect so they kind of coddle their own children and don't let them do anything because they're scared to death something is gonna happen to them 💀

Here's the thing:
We don't actually know how much serum Bucky was given during the war, whether it was full blown finished serum, or a partial version, or what.
We do know Zola absolutely had the skill and knowledge to have secretly created a full blown serum, we just don't know if he did.
I say 'secretly' because Zola appears to have done all his evil human torture experiments in secret, without his boss's orders; Red Skull doesn't know about them and didn't order them.
On the surface of it, this would appear to be important. If Red Skull is dropping by for inconvenient inspections a lot, and if Zola is trying to hide something, that affects how much serum-related materiel Zola can order before his boss starts asking awkward questions.
However, Red Skull has such a one-track mind that he is completely indifferent to the prisoners -- ordering Zola to work them to death and replace them...
That suggests that Zola could probably get away with a whole lot in Red Skull's absence, in terms of fucking up prisoners and ordering materiel relating to serum (which he shouldn't need, given that he's running a tesseract-weapon factory death camp).
Red Skull was simply too self-absorbed to notice.

And we do know that, by the time Steve met the Winter Soldier in the future, Bucky had the same strength, speed, healing, and endurance as Steve (who has serum and vitaradiation), the later Winter Soldiers, and T'Challa. Eg. he had full blown serum.
We know his physical attributes are the equal of theirs because these other enhanced people are shown as struggling to catch him (speed) or beat him in a fight (strength, endurance, etc.)
In fact the very plot depends on this equality.
*I'm ignoring serum-havers from FATWS cuz that show is a pile o shit and ignores all the previous serum rules (lazy moronic writers? who knows!)

But there has been a huge time lapse in between those two periods, in which Zola had ample time to finish and perfect the serum, (if it wasn't finished in the war) and had Bucky back in captivity to re-administer it.
So it's possible Bucky got a partial serum in WWII, and full blown serum after.
Which would increase the likelihood of him not noticing the difference during WWII.

Just the full serum on its own is supposed to drastically and visibly change the subject (see: Red Skull and the other Winter Soldiers).
One possible interpretation is that, since Bucky isn't visibly drastically altered, therefore the serum must have been a partial, and its only attributes are the healing ones.
So that's why Bucky survived Krausberg and the Fall (and how Zola knew to look for him) without his friends noticing any difference.
There was supposed to have been a moment where Bucky is approached by a nurse, after Krausberg -- and he has an open slash in his henley, but no visible wound underneath.
Perhaps implying Bucky was supposed to notice his newfound healing, during the war?

Sidenote: Apparently that nurse is Beardette, the girl Bucky took to the Stark Expo.
As well as (possibly) expositing Bucky's strange healing, she's there to -- once again -- prevent any heartwarming queer-readable embrace occurring between Bucky and Steve, and to intercept and no-homo the loving eye contact he is having with Steve.
(This is also why they rammed Piggy in as a wedge in between them, as usual. She's there to prove Steve is a Nice Puritan Straight Boy. Because if someone of the opposite sex thrusts themselves into your personal space without asking, that means you must have wanted it, obviously!) 🤢

On the other hand, if you wanted to believe that Bucky did get full blown serum in WWII...
Well, since they cut out all Bucky's war scenes prior to rescue, we don't actually know what Bucky looked like immediately before serum.
So it's possible he did drastically alter, and that the serum was a full blown one, but we (and Steve and the Howlies) just can't perceive it because we didn't see the immediate before and after.
Add in the excuse of malnutrition, starvation and exhaustion, undercutting its visual effects, and you could easily argue that the serum was full blown but struggling.
Personally, whether Bucky got a partial serum or full, given what was done to Steve I find it extremely unlikely that Bucky wouldn't perceive a difference in himself.
It's just too unlikely that he would not connect the dots between his change and what was done to Steve.
(Especially if he, for example, asked Steve what the serum looked like, before injection, and Steve said it was blue, and Bucky knew he had been injected with something blue).
On a darker note, there's an aura of wild self-destructiveness about Bucky, immediately after Krausberg. His looks mingle horror with misery.
For a man with obvious untreated mental health problems, and a protective-self-destructive streak a mile wide, there are too many opportunities to (deliberately?) get hurt. I think it's just not possible for Bucky not to have noticed that he is healing faster than he should. He would know exactly what a man in a warzone can survive.
So, yes, I think he noticed.
And if you're looking for a possible reason as to why he would keep that secret, some possibilities:
He can't reveal his healing without also revealing his self-destructiveness, which he would not want to do because his friends would be upset and interfere to stop him.
If he tells Steve serum was used on him Steve might feel guilty and blame himself for being part of the serum experiments which obviously motivated Hydra to continue theirs, and Bucky wouldn't want Steve to feel bad or worry about him.
If Steve found out, it might provoke one of his protective justice rampages, which Bucky would also not want because it would further endanger Steve.
He might be afraid of the Army finding out he's enhanced and making him a guinea pig in a lab, as they threatened to do to Steve.
He might be afraid of the Army finding out he's self-destructive and sending him home, where he can't protect Steve, which would also probably humiliate him.
He might be afraid of the Army finding out he's enhanced and never letting him go home at all, as Steve appears not to have realised will happen to him.
Given Bucky's other symptoms of PTSD he might have noticed XYZ symptoms of serum and yet dismissed them as not real, thinking he's delusional.
Given the stigma surrounding mental health, if he thought he was delusional he would conceal it from his friends because he wouldn't want them to know he's 'crazy.'
Given the times, he might also conflate PTSD symptoms with malingering and cowardice and want to conceal his symptoms from his friends for fear of appearing cowardly and disloyal in front of them (eg. malingering to get a medical discharge).
He might conceal or downplay any problems he is having because he doesn't want to seem inferior next to suddenly-perfect Steve.

So it's weird how like. The Kennet girls are good at everything, aren't they?
[pale spoilers ahead]
Like that's obvious, it's textual -- it's very textual, other characters being in something like awe over it over and over and over across the story. The girls are very good at this, and they have a deep well of power. This comes up continuously.
what's weird is thaaat a lot of the fanbase seem to like, enjoy that. Enjoy having protagonists who can play around with magic in a way Blake never ever could have. I kind of get that, I won't like shit-talk it too hard. (I do like Verona, y'know?)
But it's an interesting fact. Because Wildbow's the underdog protagonist guy! At least in action scenes, that's his whole thing! Taylor and Blake have to eat shit and die to claw their way to victory, and often those scenes work for me. And it's one of the things I think WB gets the most praise for? Like, from his established base.
It's a conscious choice to not do that for Pale. He like, introduced the idea that this kind of wild practitioner would be especially powerful. He made that up for this book.
I wonder what that decision looks like -- after Ward, and Ward's issues, especially, since that seemed to be the first break from this. Underdog protagonists seem to be the default, for him; the thing he has most experience with. I've seen posts from him describing his process -- put characters against the wall without having a pre-planned out for them, so WB himself has to puzzle out exactly what they can use to make it out alive -- and he seemed to derive like... An actual enjoyment, out of it?
Yeah, there are fights in Pale where they're up against the wall... even one where, with Dire Consequences for us all, Wildbow had them lose because he couldn't see a way for them to win!
But it's not the same. I'd honestly say they usually lose because of their like, lack of full maturity -- their child soldier-y emotional rawness and uncertainty -- their lack of cohesion, as the book usually plays it. Lucy cannot stop John from joining the Contest because she can't hold her nerve against him. The girls cannot stop the murder plot from coming to fruition because they lack unity, aren't working together as a team. Emotional stuff. The girls have more tools in their box than any Wildbow protagonist before them, by far, but they can't always use them properly to get the W, for emotional reasons, for character reasons.
In theory, that's an interesting direction (maybe, possibly), and I should be relieved that Wildbow is trying something fresh. In practice... I've said I don't like Pale's fight scenes. I think Wildbow is plainly worse at this than the content of his previous works.
Part of this is seen in the Contest. Or, at least, how Wildbow Posts about it. If you can't tell, a specific WoG lives in my brain: Wildbow said once that he kept the story going past Break because he genuinely did not believe the trio could beat Maricica. I can imagine him doing his typical calculus for this, and what led him to that conclusion, maybe. For example, we've heard a lot about the ability of the Fae to manipulate stuff, aaaand to have the girls come along and undo all of that with minimal information to begin with wouuld sort of. Damage our belief in Faerie significance.
Still, though -- cards on the table, here -- I think this was a Dumb and Bad choice.
(It's a sidenote to this post, but I think it's very strange that, in-story the straw that breaks the camel's back is shown to be the Alabaster allowing shit to go on rather than throwing in with John, effectively a betrayer revealed moment -- a thing that, even if sorta his intention from the start, he could simply say 'aw beans i never really planned this out far enough' and just drop. for the sake of wrapping up a better story. and naturally i believe this would have been better also because it means we never would have fucking gotten White Woman Animus!! i digress. i digress.)
Maricica had weaknesses the story gave us to nibble on, and those weaknesses... are just kind of dangling threads, now? As of where I hopped off? like, guess she can't be that inexperienced with people if she became a goddess and started a cult and helped with all that red heron shit lol
So it's that thing I said, about fight scenes being more character driven. But then also, he's clearly thinking about this the same way as ever! As shown by his weird logic with framing the story going past Break as a thing he Had To Do, for Logical Reasons, or at least that weighing on the decision. a thing that is silly and i disagree with on it's face. right?
And then this shows in the sheer quantity of fight scenes -- if the girl's main limiter is internal emotional context and stuff........... uh... why are there so many fights? Why wouldnt the story naturally curve towards. having fewer fight scenes when theres no other way to square things away. that progress character arcs. whyyy do i care about fight scene 129 when i know how strong these girls are. whyyy are we fighting so many random others, and dedicating genuinely long segments of story to them, rather than montaging that shit? Getting it over with? If it has to be there at all?
(for reference -- I just tried to think of a Random Pale Fight i fully don't think mattered. i selected the random like. angel summoner guy? with the fortnite constructor angel. that's a part of the musser invasion or whatever. this is a character with literally no substance, just a musser-side goon. From him entering the ongoing! fight to Lucy getting out of dodge is 4.6k words. Plague 12.7, the Mannequin fight, up to Mannequin leaving -- that's almost the entire chapter -- is 6.9k words. on the worm wiki, i saw there's a brief 'major events' summary of that chapter. i couldnt tell you the major events of the Pale chapter, of which that section of fight is like a third, maybe. lucy gets a bit more upset. lucy gets in a few quips against musser-side characters that actually matter but actually dont matter much to how that broader conflict is resolved. i guess.)
Wildbow writes any random fight the girls get into as being worth as many words as his fights in the past! the scrappy, pay-offy ones. bleh.
My point in all this: you cannot simply set your protags up in the way I'm positing, here, and then continue to use the same vocabulary of every other serial anyway. it straight up doesn't work. it's exhausting. The Future is An Eternal Slaughterhouse 9000 Arc.
Look, thats a criticism that boils down to 'web serials are too long'. And I'm not sure I care too much about web serials being too long! I have read longer web serials with longer fight scenes! I have written fiction with a longer average word count per chapter than Wildbow, at least during Worm! its a real criticism, but its not one im amazingly interested in personally.
But the Kennet three could've had weaknesses to play around -- or at least, more weaknesses. We are in a Post-Pact world, and in this Post-Pact world, the magic in Pale really barely feels like it, uh, relies on discourse and presentation. like at all. And that seems like an option to give these characters obstacles! An option Wildbow gestures at during the Musser meta-arc!
but what struck me getting that word count comparison earlier, skimming that fight? The girls just aren't operating in that world. There's never a thought for presentation -- maybe sometimes, for a slight edge. But it never really matters, certainly not after the blue heron. They're using glamour as a workhorse tool, covering goblins in it for brief misdirects to get an edge in a fight; they're calling on the same shrine spirits over and over. They don't build up tools over a portion of story then cash them out for a satisfying win, they're just... strong. They have more items in their bags than Wildbow probably knows what to do with. Strong enough for just Lucy to dunk on any random set of practitioners, but not strong enough for the story to just skip that part, and not strong enough to just solve the plot until it's time to go fuck up Charles and end the story.
I know you could argue that I'm making this up, or that it's what some people prefer to what Pact was doing. But I just think it's not even what wildbow is good at! (and i always theorize that when wildbow is writing kind of bad, it's probably because he's not actually engaged or happy with what he's putting himself through. did he read a specific thing that made him personally excited to make the girls so versatile? I don't really know, but I don't get that vibe.)
And I have a couple of specific things I want to point out to try and prove this is like. a thing at all, to wrap up on: First, Glamour is used as this very, uh, soft magic thing, this very basic narrative tool. A pure mechanic of, like, mental states. If you're shaken, if you're uncertain, your glamour gives out on you -- if you shake your opponents, make them skittish, your glamour is better at misdirecting them. This is fiiine? But too vague for what Glamour is. Wildbow simply failed to properly present tradeoffs to one of his character's main action verbs, one that literally had those tradeoffs in Pact.
And one last example to try and prove this: they dont even wear the hats and cloaks anymore duuude. Like, in my eyes: there was a very simple to read gambit being made, with the hats and masks and cloaks? You are awakening early, you will always have awoken early: You accepted an early shield against what that meant. A constructed image in place of the image of a fully-fledged adult, masking that youth; Whimsical and inherently magical, inherently wild. It's a very basic tradeoff, and one the story promises you it knows: even if they really would rather not have to go through the whole song and dance of suiting up, if it's tactically suboptimal or else they mature out of it and realise it's not for them, they will never be able to escape it -- not without giving up power. A mark accepted that cannot be given up. A mechanical restriction on their powersets to make up for some of their advantages, that also has some character relevancy. The Good Stuff.
except yeah it can. be taken off. it doesn't super matter. not really. they do plenty of magic without all the stuff on or even any of the stuff on -- it's rarely presented as an obstacle. it doesnt really matter. Because then, you see, they couldnt mature out of it and do cool stuff! it'd be. annoying. frustrating. they'd have to like. deal with changing past the natures they made for themselves. they'd have to. be characters. with character issues. that present themselves in fight scenes. you know?? what are we doing.

Ok so I was watching a danganronpa animatic of an AU where Kokichi and Shuichi are soulmates and of course my brain goes on to think about the themes of trust and love that Kokichi and MAKOTO have (for some reason. I love my boy too much I guess) and was mentally thinking of a scene in some kind of "Makoto is in V3 instead of Shuichi but the events of canon still happened" AU where Kokichi is, y'know, reaching his breaking point where he can't figure out how to stop the killing game and Makoto, y'know, he understands both during this killing game (because he was trying to stop it too or at least keep everyone alive) and all the other previous ones and in private tries to offer him support and tells him how he thinks Kokichi's a good person and he trusts him and loves him (I don't really care in what way this is taken as. Maybe aggressive support?) and Kokichi, of course being at a breaking point and having trust issues, casts him aside kind of angrily because Makoto seems like he trusts people really easily and has probably never felt betrayal like Kokichi had and therefore doesn't believe him when he says all those positive things about him and Makoto SHUTS THAT DOWN HARD. Like he pulls out the determined slightly angry positivity (I don't know if I want to describe it like that but I don't know how else) where it's just like
Makoto is standing tall, his shoulders are tense, and his finger's in Kokichi's face like: Hey, no. I love you and trust you. You don't know anything about me so I will tell you how many times I have been betrayed by friends just because it was convenient and they never or barely gave a half-ass apology. The girl who I thought I could trust to have my back in a situation JUST LIKE THIS WITH THE BEAR AND EVERYTHING tried to set me up for murder. Another girl sacrificed me to find "the truth" on multiple occasions and barely gave me an apology after I was almost starved and had a ton of injuries. I had to try to kill someone because they wouldn't just talk to me instead of attempting to commit mass murder. So when I say I trust and love you I mean it. I may say it often but that doesn't mean I take it lightly. I can't force you to accept those feeling but please do anything but deny or take them lightly. Because I DO love and trust you so much.
Kokichi is fucking BALLING in my head.
Anyway I just wanted to share that since it was on the brain and this is usually my go-to blog for sharing my random DR day dreams and ideas with. Whenever I pop in anyway.
(Sidenote: Protag switch AUs (or even detective switch AUs with Shuichi and Kyoko) between Makoto and Shuichi are so underrated. I don't write fan fiction so I hope and pray everyday that one day I will stumble across one with the quality of the A Change in Variables but that might be wishful thinking)

Agreed I love all the protags, Makoto just holds a very special place in my heart.
The way I envision what you've said is that Makoto takes the place off Rantaro or at least plays a similar role to him.
As the Ultimate Survivor, aka someone who's survived the game before and remembers.
Possibly going undercover and not letting anyone else go through this shit again.
The reason for him being there to the outside world could be that Tsumugi wanted a guest star.
And you know having the Ultimate Hope would get people watching.
Makoto talking down Kokichi would be such an interesting scene because he'd be one of the only people who don't hate him.
And would be willing to listen and stand up to him.
Also because Makoto knows what he's doing, he can see through Celest I guarantee he can see through Kokichi.
And it would throw Kokichi off because he's designed this whole thing to have everyone against him, he'd got the perfect plan.
But that's Makoto for you, unpredictable is basically his middle name.
