summary: in which Leyla and Daemon are invited to Rhaenyra’s celebration for her fourth year in marriage to Laenor, it gets heated quite quickly.
Dear Motherhood Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you want to come? Leyla you could be in labour any minute now!” Daemon sternly says as he paces infront of her. The young Hightower rolls her eyes at her Husband. “I will be fine Daemon, stop worrying.” A dinner was going to be held in honour of Rhaenyra and Laenor’s fourth year in marriage.
Daemon had insisted that Leyla shouldn’t come because she was heavily pregnant with their fourth child Leyla watches as Daemon groans, running his hands down his face. It was as if he really did not want her to come to dinner with them.
She furrows her eyebrows, “Do you really not want me there?” Her voice quieted down as her gaze drops to her lap, her fingers instantly moving themselves and picking at her fingernails, an old habit picked up from Alicent. She was offended at how adamant Daemon was on his opinion that his Lady wife should not attend.
The Prince’s features immediately soften as he looks at his wife. “Of course I do, sweet girl” He kneels down infront of Leyla, “I just don’t want you to exhaust yourself too much” He kisses her hands. He knew of her bad habit, so he would delicately kiss her hands.
“Then it’s settled, I’m attending” Leyla tightly smiles. She attempts to get up but struggles due to the size of her stomach. Daemon automatically offers her his arm to which she gratefully takes and gets up with his help.
“Gods I wish this child will come out soon, I don’t know how much longer I can take this,” She huffs, one hand on her back as she groans at her back pain. She was a petite girl after all. Her frame small, making her stomach seem in proportion.
“Let’s hope the little one decides to not come out tonight shall we?” Daemon chuckles, his arm still held by Leyla as the two walk out of her solar. “Wouldn’t that be a turn of events” A chuckle leaves her lips along with a small shake of her head.
~
“Prince Daemon Targaryn, and his Lady Wife, Lady Leyla” The couple walk in, Leyla’s hand on Daemon’s arm for support as they carefully walk down the stairs. “Uncle, Leyla!” Rhaenyra stands up from her seat with a smile as she walks over to the two and embracing Leyla in a hug, quite awkward seeing as her swollen belly was in the way.
At the table, her father and sister were present. Both of them giving a nod to the younger. “Leyla dear, come sit. I have a spot saved just for you,” Rhaenyra pulls her away from Daemon and links her arms with hers.
She looked back at Daemon who chuckles before turning back around to face the front. Rhaenyra had her sit at the head of the table, 2 free seats on her left. The Targaryen Princess pulled out the chair and Leyla sat down with an awkward smile, everyone else was still standing as they watched.
“Daemon-“ She was interrupted by Rhaenyra’s voice, “Kepus, this is your spot,” The Princess gestures to the seat beside her. Leyla’s jaw slackened. She only looked to Rhaenyra, then her Husband then back to her front. Daemon was seated in between Rhaenyra and Alicent.
How odd of the Princess to not seat her husband beside her at a celebration for their marriage. And how odd Leyla found that her Husband was not seated by her side. Pushing the odd feelings aside. She smiles at her father who was directly across from her, a smile that was given back from Otto.
“Oh how good this feels, It’s been some time since we’ve all dined together.” Rhaenyra smiles as the servants pour all their cups with wine, apart from Leyla’s as she covers the cup with her hand, water only, she told them. “And as much as we are celebrating my fourth year in marriage with my dear Laenor, we are also celebrating the child that my Daemon and his wife will soo welcome!” She raises her cup and everyone follows suit.
Leyla cringed. His wife. His wife has a name. The young Hightower makes eye contact with her sister whose eyes slightly widen at the Princess’s words. She looks to her left where Daemon sat, he hadn’t batted an eye to her ever since he was sat down beside Rhaenyra.
The dinner celebration dragged on. Not much was said between Daemon and Leyla because well, they were seated away from each other. So instead, she made conversation with Laenor who was to her right. “Leyla, how ever did you manage to become a mother to three, well soon to be four, children at your age!” Rhaenyra brings everyone’s attention to her, everyone’s little conversations coming to a halt.
Leyla slowly takes a sip of water before answering. “I am just a dutiful wife I guess,” She shrugs, wetting her lips and smiling. “Forgive me, my memory is terrible, how old are you?” She wears a grin on her face, almost as if mocking her. “ten-and-eight.” Leyla answers, this time, with blank expression. Daemon side eyes the two women to his left.
Rhaenyra’s eyes enlargen the tiniest bit, her lips still curved upward. “My, let the poor girl rest, uncle.” She laughs, nudging Daemon who only chuckles. “She’s a wonderful mother to our children. She’s a natural.” He replies, finally looking at Leyla for the first time that evening.
The young Hightower briefly smiles before facing her front again. “You must be aching everyday. Such a small and fragile body like yours must surely be exhausting carrying all those children,” She chuckles, before taking another sip of her wine. The princess was, without a doubt getting tipsy.
“I’m quite used to it, Princess” Leyla shakes her head with a small scoff. “When I saw you heavily pregnant, Gods you still looked like you were…” Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Leyla said over and over in her head as Rhaenyra paused, thinking really hard to find the words.
Everyone else in the room felt the uncomfortable atmosphere. “Darling, maybe you should stop with the wine-“ Laenor interfered but it was no use, Rhaenyra had said it. “Like a little child-“ “Okay!” Laenor butts in, awkwardly laughing as everyone sits quiet. Leyla seemed composed on the outside, calm and unaffected by Rhaenyra’s comment.
But inside, she was fuming. How dare she say that to the only person to be able to give heirs for the Targaryens. Daemon stared at Leyla the entire time. He knew that comment was affecting his Lady Wife. Alicent coughs, Otto gives a displeased look at Rhaenyra.
“I just don’t know how you do it Leyla, I just cannot imagine what you go through during your pregnancies and birth-“ “I think there’s better topics to talk about than my pregnancies, don’t you?” She interrupts her with a fake smile. “We could talk about your children or your pregnancies but there is none to talk about,” Leyla comments before taking a sip of water.
She could see Rhaenyra was visibly affected by what she said. Leyla could see both her sister and father trying not to laugh. She knew of the whispers around the realm, the castle. That Laenor found pleasure with the opposite sex. And of course, both have denied it and yet it seems to be confirmed because during the four years of marriage, Rhaenyra has yet to be with child, producing no heirs.
“I-I’m sorry? I was simply asking-“ Rhaenyra furrowed her eyebrows making Leyla subtly roll her eyes. “Nyra.” Daemon sternly spoke, glaring at her niece. Silence filled the room once again. Daemon was right. Leyla shouldn’t have come to the dinner.
“I think it’s best I go,” Leyla breaks the silence, attempting to stand up but was quickly helped by Daemon. Rhaenyra stays sitting, her gaze hard on the table infront of her. Leyla’s words running through her mind. Alicent walks over, kissing her younger sister’s cheek. “Are you okay?” She whispers, to which Leyla nods with a small smile. “I’m fine.”
She wasn’t. And Daemon knew that. The young girl would always rant to him about her insecurities. Insecurities that he himself find beautiful. He knew that Rhaenyra’s comments stung the young girl. “Leyla…” Daemon attempts to comfort his wife but was pushed away as she walks away from him as soon as they step into their bedchambers.
“She had no right to comment about my stature. And-and what she called me. A little girl Daemon!” She shouts as she turns back around to face him who stands there. “She’s just like them all,” She chuckles bitterly to herself as she struggles to undo the laces to her dress.
Daemon moves to her, unraveling the laces to her dress. “I mean, who does she think she is. She knows what she was doing,” Leyla huffs as she slips out of her dress and slips into her nightgown. “And why did she sit you beside her and not me? Your wife, for gods sake-“ “Stop worrying about it, my love” Daemon hushed her. Resting his head on her shoulder and peppering her bare shoulder with kisses.
“But I can’t,” She moans. Daemon carefully turns the girl to face him, “She doesn’t know what she is talking about. Rhaenyra has not had the experience of carrying a child. And you, are producing Targaryen heirs, not her.” He says calmly, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she looks up at him.
“Do you think I took it too far when I said-“ “No,” He chuckles. “You were only speaking the truth” Leyla grins as Daemon kisses her forehead. “Come, what a night it has been” He ushers her to their bed.

i need to talk about laenor for a minute
"he was happy!" "ha wanted to leave his family!"
mmmm are you sure?
because in ep 6 he wants to leave KL, yeah, but he def does not want to disappear. he wants to join his family in the stepstones. he's tired, he's done. he has "played his part". was he really that happy with his modern family in KL? because it sure didn't sound like it when rhaenyra has to command him to stay by her side because she needs him to keep covering up for her.
when rhaenyra and daemon had that convo in ep 6 when rhaenyra wanted to have laenor killed and daemon convinced her to give him a choice.
the choice was go away or we'll kill you.
they actually went to laenor on his sister's funeral, when his family needed him the most and made him leave. laenor wanted to leave KL to join his family in the stepstones. he never wanted his family to think he's dead, especially not when they've just lost laena.
and that plot makes 0 sense because if laenor ever comes back rhaenyra and daemon will be branded as liars and traitors & their children will be declared as illegitimate. not to mention, if rhaenys and corlys ever find out about what they did their alliance is over. like rhaenys will literally burn them. the fact that they knew how much corlys and rhaenys suffered and still chose not to tell them about laenor is so messed up.

Trigger Warnings: death and childbirths. If there are more please let me know
Princess Rhaelle never let Alicent get in the way of seeing her brothers and sister. In return, the young princes and princess grew up knowing they were loved and cared for. Princess Helaena was set to marry her nephew, prince Monterys, the young boy loved his aunt as much as she loved him. The children were still young but soon enough they would marry. Lady Laena and prince Daemon left King's Landing after an argument between the young princess and her uncle. No one knew what the argument was about, not even Laena or Laenor.
The Keep was lively with all the children running around. Princess Rhaelle was expecting her seventh child, Laenor was always watching over her, he, despite having other taste loved his wife, it was odd to say the least but they did love each other yet they shared bed with others. Laenor knew this babe was to either be his child or the child of the Commander of the City watch. He didn't care though, he loved all his children, even the ones he did not sired.
"The queen has been quite as of late" Laenor said as he took a sip of his wine. Rhaelle nodded. "She has no other lies to spread. For now" she replied. "If this babe is mine she will say nothing. Your father as put her in her place and he has replace Otto with Lyonel Strong. The man keeps his son and grandsons protected no matter what" Rhaelle smile. Lyonel Strong was an honorable man and she knew it. When Harwin confessed to his father what had happened between him and the heir to the Iron Throne the man nearly collapsed where he stood.
But he knew that Jace and Luke were his blood and he had to protect them. Rhaelle made allies with other houses. House Stark was a match she had come to make. Her Visenya was to marry Cregan when she came of age as they were only two years apart. Monterys would marry Helaena. Jace would marry Nymeria Martell, Luke would marry Mariela Tyrell. Aegon would marry Baela and Aemond would marry Rhaena.
The matches were secured by Rhaelle and her hand, securing her reign with other houses. Aethan was to marry Morrigan Baratheon to strengthen the bond between the houses. Laenor had made allies with people in the Free Cities to farther support his wife.
Alicent Hightower plotted on how to end the princess. Her and Larys Strong always tried to find out ways to ruin the princess' reputation but they always failed as the princess was always one step ahead until once she wavered. When Laena was due to give birth the lady called her closest companion and friend, princess Rhaelle.
Princess Rhaelle, after hearing the news flew on dragon back to see her lover, Lady Laena. Although, pregnant and nearly her time to give birth as well, she discarded anyone's opinions and flew over to see her. "Laena!" she yelled as she tried to run. "Rhae, please!" Laenor begged as she left him behind. "She can't die on me, Laenor. Not her. Not Laena. Not my Laena" she nearly cried. Her steps echo in what seemed to be an empty hall. Rhaelle stopped and gathered herself before walking in.
Laena, smiled as she saw her lover. "Rhaelle" she began. "You came" she whispered. "You called" Rhaelle replied. She rushed to see her, she sat beside her. "I can't believe you're here"  Laena said tiredly. The woman has been in the birthing bed for hours now. Daemon waited outside, he didn't want to see Rhaelle just yet. He couldn't.
Rhaelle held Laena's hand as the two talked about what they had been doing since Daemon moved his family away. "I know my time has come, Rhae" Rhaelle shook her head. "You cannot leave me, Laena. You hear me?! I cannot do this without you" she cried.  Laena smiled at her dearest love. "I wish to ask for one last thing" Rhaelle nodded. "Anything" she told her.
Laena kissed Rhaelle's hand. "When my time comes I wish to have a dragon riders death. I don't want to be cut open. I just wish to go in peace" before Rhaelle could reply, Laena's labors pain came back but stronger. Rhaelle held her hand, she delivered Laena's son third daughter for her. "It's a girl, Laena. A beautiful baby girl" Rhaelle said with a smile as she held the baby girl in her arms. "I wish to name her" Daemon walked in. He laid eyes on his wife first before looking at Rhaelle. She simply nodded, acknowledging his presence.
She walked over to Laena first. She wanted her to get a chance at holding her child. "Here, take her" Laena seemed to be fighting to stay. "What will you name her?" Rhaelle asked. "Rhaella. In your name and honor" she replied and Rhaelle felt the sting her eyes. It wouldn't be long before the tears would come. "Oh, my sweet Laena" she said in a whisper before bending down to kiss her. "Promise me, Daemon..." Daemon walked over to her. "Promise me, that Rhaella will be loved, always. Promise that you and Rhaelle will watch over her and her sisters" Daemon nodded as did Rhaelle.
Lady Laena Velaryon passed away two hours after her daughter's birth. At Laena's funeral everyone had gathered to say their last goodbye. Rhaelle stood with her good mother, princess Rhaenys. Vaemond gave his speech and bid his goodbye to his niece. He had jabbed at Jacaerys and Lucerys blood but nothing got past Lord Corlys who glared at his brother. The funeral had ended and everyone had gathered near the beach to spend some time with the grieving family.
Princess Rhaelle sat with Ser Laenor both let the water feel them. "I miss her" he said in a hush tone. She held him by the arm. "I remember when we were little. We used to play the hiding game. We used to play that for hours" she smiled at the memory and he did too. "Do you remember when we accidentally found the secret passages because we had lost Laena?!" the two laughed at the memory of their sweet Laena.
Laenor kissed Rhaelle's hand. "Thank you" he said to her. "For what?" she asked. "For loving her as much as I did" he replied. "I love you as much as I love her" she replied before kissing him. Daemon watched her; jealousy brewing within him. Alicent watched them too, she hated the fact that Rhaelle was happy without her. It was never about the crown. It was always about her love. Rhaelle's love.

Something I've found interesting, and by interesting I mean strange, is how Rhaenyra sending Laenor out of Westeros makes her a queer ally. She doesn't send him away to benefit him, she does it to benefit herself because she wants to marry Daemon.
She clearly says to Daemon on the beach "Laenor has been restless for years, and now he'll be useless. Or worse" She thinks now Laenor is grieving he's nothing but a liability, and with Laena dead she can be with Daemon. The only obstacle is her husband, who is the most outwardly heartbroken by Laena's death. And her intention was clear at the funeral, we see the way Rhaenyra's eyes follow Daemon constantly. She had sex with him that day, before consulting Laenor about faking his death.
I don't think asking a grieving man to run away from his family, his dragon and everything he knows is a mercy or a great gift. What if he changed his mind once the shock wore off, and realised the ramifications of his choice? What if him and his lover separated and he was completely alone? Rhaenyra and Daemon were willing to kill a servant and lie to their children and Rhaenys for the rest of their lives so they could be together, do you really think either of them would have allowed Laenor to get in the way of their plans?

Summary: After Aemond takes the eye of his niece as revenge, he realizes he's made a mistake he may never get to fix...
Warnings: Angst, violence, blood, major injuries, ages follow the show and not the book, Reader goes by female pronouns, reader is the only child of Rhaenyra and Daemon, conceived during the brothel scene, cute matching moment between Aemond and Reader.
Author's Note: This is the edited version whereas I realized the original did not build as much of a relationship between Aemond and Reader as I would've liked. I hope this is much better to read!

A belching roar echoed throughout the stone walkway. Aemond's hand clutched the eye Lucerys attacked using his brother's dagger. Jacaerys stared with wide eyes at his uncle, whom was yet to react in any other way except sob for his missing eye. Guards and handmaidens rushed in at the gargling cry that intruded the quiet halls. Princess [Name] stood, frozen in horror at the act her younger brother has committed.
As the children were gathered in the King's chambers, Rhaenyra and Laenor were quick in their steps to reach their own children. Laenor checked on the boys while Rhaenyra sought out any scars upon her eldest's skin, only to find her unscathed. Rhaenyra held her daughter to her chest and turned to face her father and the Queen.
"What has happened? Why are my children scared out of their minds?" Rhaenyra breathed heavily, scared out of her own mind, worried about her children ending up as corpses one day. This wouldn't be the first time she found herself defending her children, finding that Alicent quite enjoyed trying to push punishment on them, especially her boys.
"Is this how you raise your children, Princess?" Alicent antagonized the Targaryen Princess with mocking words. "Allowing them to strike their own kin because of a beast?" The Queen narrowed her eyes at her former best friend, holding her youngest child close to her chest much like Rhaenyra. Aemond, while in his mother's hold, wouldn't take his stare off of his niece. She was older than him by two years, same age as his older brother, only months apart.
Aemond always had quite the strong feelings for his niece. Since he could remember she was always in the background, braiding his hair, sewing his clothes, fighting his battles. She was a gift from the gods to him. But he didn't want her to fight his battles. In fact, he almost resented her for thinking he was too weak to fight for himself. That resentment bubbled up into hatred, and he could think of nothing but.
Princess Rhaenyra, heir to the Iron Throne, sent her boys back to their respective bedrooms before checking once more that her daughter was unharmed. The younger Princess kept her apologizing gaze on Aemond, brows furrowed and a frown evident on her lips. Her eyes said "I'm sorry" but Aemond could only see pity, blinded by the hatred he grew to have for the girl.
Princess [Name] Targaryen, First of Her Name, returned to her bedchambers to sleep off the frightful events of the night. She found herself having trouble falling into slumber, fluffing up her pillow did not serve to alleviate her insomnia. Out of options—and patience—the princess asked for a bath to be prepared. When the white, pristine tub was displayed in front of her and the handmaids assigned to her aided in her undressing, [Name] sunk into the scolding water that would boil any other man.
The Princess dismissed her handmaidens, wanting isolated time to think upon what has transpired. Silence filled her chambers until a creak of her wooden door alerted her of someone's presence. Aemond stood with his hands behind his back in a defensive stance. His expression was one of true spite, vengeful, even. Before the princess knew what was coming to her, a scar was plastered on her left eye.
Blood slowly seeped out of the jagged wound slashed across her eye. The Princess held a trembling hand over it but the blood kept pouring. She used the undamaged eye in her possession to look up at her uncle, he wore the face of a boy who'd kill for his own greed. He was unfazed by the tears welding up in his niece's eye, or how she whispered his name repeatedly, asking him why he would do such a thing.
"An eye for an eye." Is all he spoke before storming out of her bedchambers to hide in his room. The Princess stood in the tub, droplets of translucency rolling down her figure and back into the mahogany puddle of blood. She used one hand to wrap herself in a robe while the other tried and failed to keep any more blood from spilling out. During her fiasco of dressing as appropriately as she could, Jacaerys and Lucerys both charged into her room.
"Seven Hells!" Lucerys cursed, earning an elbow nudge from his older brother. "What happened to you?" The youngest finally asked. Before the Princess could answer, their mother walked through, wondering why her children were still up. When she saw the damage made to her daughter's eye, the heir lost her resolve and sent a guard for her father.
When the King and Queen enter the Princess' chambers, they both find horrified expressions upon their faces. Rhaenyra sits beside her daughter, holding her protectively as Daemon checks his daughter's eye to see just how much damage his nephew caused. When the Rogue Prince was complete with his task of scanning his daughter, he turned to his brother and the Queen.
"That little cunt of yours blinded my daughter, brother." Daemon rested his weight on his sword, the Dark Sister, before speaking up again, "I'm sure he won't mind being a cripple for the rest of his life. I'll make sure he's still able to use his arms." Daemon chuckled at his own jest. The King raised a hand and shook his crown-bearing head, scolding his younger brother for speaking in such manners, about his own nephew at such.
"I'll personally have a talk with my own son if that's alright with you, dear brother?" Viserys Targaryen, First of His Name, King of the Andal, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm and Prince of Dragonstone, slouched toward his granddaughter. The two Targaryens, Grandsire and granddaughter, had quite a close relationship. Since she was born Viserys has done nothing but spoil her. She had the best than her own brothers.
Rhaenyra asked her father to step outside the chambers with her to discuss the issue at hand. The heir offered to leave for Dragonstone, feeling as the Red Keep is no longer safe for her children anymore. Viserys reluctantly agreed, wanting nothing but safety for his daughter and grandchildren. The Princess Rhaenyra calmly walked back inside the bedchambers of her oldest child, born full Targaryen with platinum hair and violet eyes that could pierce any mans heart with just a look.
The Targaryen heir and her children headed for Dragonstone that night. Just before leaving, [Name] caught the eyes of Aemond whom heard his parents quarrelling about his stunt this evening. Her gown blew behind her from the evening breeze and her hair that glistened like snow under the moonlight made her much better to admire from afar. Aemond looked away and to his hands, clenching them to where his growing finger nails left crescent stab wounds in his palms.
That night, the King and his wife, Alicent Hightower, berated Aemond for committing such a heinous act. The King more visibly upset about it than the Queen, whose only hope was that her son's recklessness wouldn't get him in too much trouble one of these days. Aemond spent the rest of his hours of the night wallowing in regret, knowing he mistook his hatred for Lucerys as his hatred for [Name], acting out on her instead of his attacker.

𝕾𝖎𝖝 𝖞𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖘 𝖑𝖆𝖙𝖊𝖗...
The Princess [Name], given the title "The Princess of Vanity and Vengeance" for her breathtaking Targaryen beauty and the relentless fist she pounds into her enemies. On this day, the princess bares an eyepatch over her eye, hiding the consequence of her moment of weakness. Of course, no one would blame her, she was just a young girl, but the older princess, the one who pierced armour and led armies, would not allow herself to be seen as such any longer.
The eyepatch she wears reminds her of her biggest failure. Failing to protect her family and herself. Would things be different if she had told on her brother? Would she still have her eye? Questions she asks herself everyday hoping she'd somehow, someway, come up with the answer. But for now, she will head to the Red Keep with her parents and brothers. Being the only daughter, and the oldest at that, came with many challenges as men were more hesitant to listen to her than if it were her brother Jacaerys or even Lucerys.
Riding in on dragon-back, [Name] lands her dragon, Llanerion in the center of the courtyard, announcing her presence through actions. The white-bellied, blue scaled dragon shook the grime off his scales and allowed guards to lead him to the Dragonpit. As the Targaryen family entered the Keep, Rhaenyra and Daemon split up, heading toward the King's chambers. The children were made aware of the King's illness but do not know the extent of it which is best left unsaid.
Jacaerys called for his brother and sister to join him on the training grounds, wanting to get some practice in if he is to be King someday. [Name] was offered the role of heir by her mother but has denied that privilege, only wanting to live alongside the King or Queen as a warrior fighting for her people. Her mother had never been more proud of her.
The Princess [Name] noticed a crowd of men circling two others but paid them no mind, offering her helping services to her brother who gladly accepted, knowing his sister was one of the best sword fighters in Westeros. The two eldest children of Rhaenyra stood at attention, their swords crossed in an 'X' position, readying for a match. As their swords began to clink and slice against one another, the attention of the men surrounding Aemond and Ser Criston were redirected to the heir's kin.
[Name] ducked under the blade of her brother and kicked at his calf, knocking him off balance and bringing her sword around to dig into his neck just a bit. "If you are to be King someday, you must know how to outsmart your opponent, Jace." The princess offered her advice to the boy on the receiving end of her blade. Jacaerys huffed and took the hand of his sister who helped him up.
Applause startled the princess when she turned around, only to find the matching eye of her uncle staring at her with an expression unreadable. She glared swords at him and sheathed her own into its holster, climbing the cobble stairs from the training grounds to the halls of the Red Keep. Lucerys and Jacaerys noticed the longing gaze their uncle gave their sister and they followed her actions, narrowing their eyes at the man who ruined their sister's life.
Aemond returned to his chambers after training, removing his eyepatch, noticing how the loss of the eyepatch did little to repair his vision. He smirked at his remembrance of his niece with an eyepatch as well, giving her the benefit of looking almost unnoticeable to the prince. But Aemond knows her eyes, he knows her lips and he wishes he knew her touch but he allowed anger and revenge to cloud his mind. He ruined what he could've had with her and now he may never get another chance.

not the TB stans saying that corlys & rhaenys & laena would've supported rhaenyra's claim if laena had married viserys .
corlys wanted laena to marry viserys so that her son will one day be king. rhaenys literally said it to rhaenyra - "when your father dies, the men of the realm will expect his son to inherit - because that is the way of things." = corlys and rhaenys expected viserys and laena's son to be king.
if the velaryons truly supported rhaenyra from the start - like you claim - why not just suggest a betrothal between laenor and rhaenyra - the heir to the throne? what do they gain from laena being queen consort to viserys if her children are not going to inherit the throne?
also, to the people claiming that they planned to have laena marry vis and laenor marry rhaenyra (0 evidence that they planned to betroth laenor to rhaenyra before ep 5 but ok) - why tf would they do that and create a possible succession crisis between laena and laenor's children? it makes no sense.
it was only after their chance on getting their blood on the throne from laena marrying vis was lost did they agree to marry laenor to rhaenyra.
the TB fanfiction of laena & the velaryons happily step aside for rhaenyra and not fight to put viserys and laena's son on the throne is just ridiculous. rhaenyra is actually very lucky that viserys chose to marry alicent because the velaryons would kick her sorry ass in seconds.
also, can we stop treating the velaryons like rhaenyra's cheering squad ?

******************
You're the first born child of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon
You are the only child of Rhaenyra who has Valyrian silver hair and purple eyes or better said, you have a purple eye and a green eye like Alyssa Targaryen, the mother of your grandfather Viserys and his brother Daemon the rogue prince.
Your eyes were also the reason why your grandfather cried when he held you in his arms for the first time, because after all those years he saw his mother in your beautiful eyes again.
You were the only grandchild of Viserys where he wanted to choose the name too.
Rhaenyra and Viserys thought about to name you after the late Queen Aemma or after Viserys mother Alyssa. But your father Laenor wanted a name for you which no Targaryen or Velaryon had yet.
Rhaenyra and Viserys agreed that you need an exceptional name, one that nobody will ever forget. And so they decided to name you
y/n Velaryon.
A few weeks after your birth, there were many rumors about you and your mother. Many believed you were the true-born daughter to Prince Daemon Targaryen with Princess Rhaenyra. Viserys didn’t want to hear any of these rumours, for him you were his true-born granddaughter.
After you were born in King’s Landing, your parents made a big feast in celebration. Many lords and ladies from everywhere of the realm have arrived to see you and to be able to be there at your feast.
Your mother and father received many congratulations for your birth and many gifts were brought for you. You also received a gift from your aunt Lady Laena. After she heard about your birth, she went to the nest of her she-dragon Vhagar and chosed a black egg with red stripes for you.
That evening you were also named as the heiress of the iron throne. Both your mother and grandfather adhered to the tradition that the first-born child, whether boy or girl should inherit the throne.
But for many Lords of the realm and most of all for the Hightowers, it was bad enough that your mother Princess Rhaenyra was named as heiress of the iron throne.
But when you another princess were named as the next heiress, the protests among the lords became more, for them neither you or your mother were the rightful heirs but Aegon Targaryen your uncle and the firstborn son of the King.

I really don't understand the writer's reasoning for race swapping the Velaryon's, when every Velaryon is mistreated or cast aside by the all white Targaryen's. Literally everyone of them.
• Corlys - Is apparently so selfish he's willing to disregard all of his blood related family to put a white boy that is no relation to him on his ancestral seat just because he carries his last name? Even though there's plenty of other actual Velaryon's that carry the Velaryon name.
• Vaemond - Gets murdered for telling the truth, and not wanting Driftmark to go to someone who isn't a true Velaryon. I think they only added him calling Rhaenyra a whore after calling her son's bastards to try and make his death justifiable, as if calling someone a bad name = off with his head.
• Laena - Is married to Daemon but knows that she isn't his first choice, and if he had his way he'd be with his (white) niece. Is stuck by his side in Pentos even though he knows she wants to return home. Supposedly dies a *badass* dragon rider death, but I just saw a pregnant black woman dying in agony. Like that doesn't already happen in real life when black women are four times more likely to die in childbirth.
• Laenor - The cuckold of all cuckolds. In almost every scene of adult Laenor he's completely miserable. And apparently he too is willing to disregard all his trueborn family to put a white boy that isn't his on the Driftmark throne. And I don't find Rhaenyra to be some great LGBTQ ally by "letting" Laenor run away and permanently leave his home and family behind so he can be with his partner and she can remarry.
• Baela and Rhaena - Have actual Velaryon blood through their mother, get passed over so another white boy can get something he has no entitlement too. Baela would have had a slim chance of ending up queen because even if Rhaenyra became queen, the lords of Westeros would have been very unlikely to accept an illegitimate son as her heir. Rhaena could become lady of Driftmark but only as a consort through Luke, meaning if he died her claim to Driftmark would die with him.
I'm all for diversity and representation, but was the family who consistently gets walked all over the best choice to make POC?
I think they were aiming for liberal and inclusive, but that doesn't really work when your white characters use and exploit the black characters you've purposely made black.
