It amuses me that when the actors talk about Rhaenyra and Aegon in the new promo video, they involuntarily describe Aegon as a more interesting character. Speaking of Rhaenyra, they simply list her "positive" qualities (many of which can be refuted, but it doesn't matter). Speaking of Aegon, they talk about what kind of character he is - about his drama, about his inner conflict, about his development, about his versatility. That's just...interesting.

I haven't really been in the HP fandom for a long time because the author sucked so much of the joy out of it, and the older I got, the more flaws I saw within the work.
But something I thought of recently was the similarities between Aemond and Snape in regards to bullying and violence.
In HOTD, Aemond is bullied by his brother and the Strong boys, is attacked four against one, and subsequently loses his eye because of Lucerys.
In HP, Snape is bullied by The Marauders, Sirius lures him to The Shack on a full moon, and he is close to being killed or turned into a Werewolf by Remus.
In both cases, Aemond and Snape never receive any kind of justice for what was done to them. Aemond is actually further threatened with harm, and Snape is supposed to carry on as normal afterwards and keep quiet about Remus being a Werewolf.
In both cases, the characters don't really appear to learn from their actions. Remus, who is presented as the least arrogant and least involved in the bullying, tells Neville to imagine Snape in his grandmother's clothes when dealing with the Bogot. This is something the whole class finds hysterical and quickly spreads around the school.
Lucerys doesn't appear to care about permanently maiming his uncle, and laughs at the pig presented at dinner clearly remembering the Pink Dread they gave Aemond to their amusement.
And in both cases, we're not supposed to care about Aemond or Snape because their bully's are shown as the good guys.
The Strong boys are Rhaenyra's perfect sons. They have to deal with awful rumours about their illegitimacy. They were protecting Rhaena and Baela, defending themselves. I've even seen some say they were defending Vaghar, the largest dragon alive.
The Marauders are Harry's father, God father, and the only connection to his deceased parents. They fought in The Order and are good people. Snape is an awful person and horrible to Harry, so everything that is done to him is justified.
I find it interesting how we're supposed to view bullying, violence, or assault as okay as long as the victim apparently deserves it.

I went into HOTD knowing nothing about it, so in the first episode where Daemon is sat on the Iron Throne and Rhaenyra tells him she will pray for a brother to take his place as heir, I thought the show was hinting at a feud between the two of them. I didn't see future love interests, I thought the angle of Kings Daughter vs Kings Brother or Old Heir vs New Heir made so much sense. Finding out it was Brother vs Sister was a disappointment tbh
No, but if we stop to think about it, indeed the set up for the dance is so weak, specially when George had a better set up right then and there that he solved with the council of 101: Rhaenys vs Viserys. The daughter of the eldest son and heir vs the son of the second son. This should have been the configuration of the dance.
Then he had the second best set up: Rhaenyra vs Daemon. The daughter of the king vs the brother of the king.
He screwed over both scenarios and went with the worst one, one that would never really make much sense, especially when you consider the reasons why Rhaenyra was chosen as an heir (to avoid Daemon ascending to the throne). Not only Viserys fixed this problem by marrying again and having not only one, but three sons… Rhaenyra went to marry Daemon. Like, there’s no realistic scenario where she wouldn’t have been disinherited right then and there, or where the realm wouldn’t rally behind Aegon instead of her, especially when she fucked off to Dragonstone instead of trying to assert herself as heir and future queen in KL.
George just made really bad choices overall, that’s why the dance feels kind of weird and some plot points are very forced to fit into the narrative instead of feeling like natural consequences of what was happening.

That fact he says this when he was raping Alicent the night before. Alicent, who is the same age as his daughter, Alicent, who had already been pregnant and given birth twice in three years. But apparently, only Rhaenyra is a girl worth protecting and shielding from men like him.

At least that disgusting old man was apparently being honest, even if it was only out of guilt of butchering Aemma.

The amount of Pro Israel, Pro Genocide shit I'm seeing on here is crazy. Every other social media site I'm on is Pro Palestine, but here? It's "But Hamas did it first!", "It's Antisemitic to call killing and displacing 30,000 people a genocide!" and "Was it worth it Hamas?!?" all over the fucking place. I've seen too much over the last six months to ever support Zionism, and that is what Israel is built on.

That smug little Thank You Father had my eye twitching ngl. She weaponized Viserys' favouritism beautifully against her other siblings. She literally didn't give a fuck about her ten year old brother losing an eye, her father threatened to have their tongue removed if they spoke out against her illegitimate children and she's all Pikachu shocked face when they turn against her? Make it make sense 🙄

I almost laughed at that "Alicent's son sits my throne" line. Does she forget her and Aegon share a father? From the scenes of Aegon's second birthday to after his coronation when he's 20, she's made it clear that she doesn't view her half siblings as her siblings in any capacity.
