"aemond couldn't control vhagar" is the dumbest thing i've ever heard because NO ONE can really control a dragon.
aemond is not vhagar's owner. he is her rider. they have a bond. dragons are intelligent independent creatures, especially a 200yo dragon like vhagar.
"the idea that we control dragons is an illusion"
that's like... one of the main themes of this show. you can claim a dragon and have fun flying around the city & giving them treats when they listen, but at the end of the day, when 2 dragons are fighting each other, their riders can only cling to their saddles and hope for the best.
both riders lost control of their dragons - with luke's dragon attacking vhagar because he (she?) got nervous, making vhagar angry and kill both of them.
a rider's control over their dragon is limited. a dragon is not a slave.

A Father’s Love
request: Hii!! I was wondering if you could do a aemond imagine where you are jace twin sister so you have the strong look! Viserys decided to marry you off to aemond to prevent the bloodshed and your first born a son comes out with the the dark brown hair and aegon starts teasing his brother about it because it’s like karma hit the greens about having a targaryean with a dark hair but aemond ends up protecting you and your child from all the comments coming from the greens. Thank you 🤍
pairing: aemond targaryen x y/n velaryon (strong)
word count: 2k
warning: mentions of pregnancy & childbirth, canon typical violence (protective aemond)
a/n: i think aemond’s son having the strong look would change his view of rhaenyra & her boys
Tumblr media
When you were still but a girl your mother, Princess Rhaenyra, explained to you that you would have your husband picked out for you in an arranged marriage. You didn’t quite understand it then, but the picture became clearer as you got older.
By the time you were one and ten your grandsire King Viserys had declared you would marry your uncle Aemond born of the same year. The arrangement came after the night of your aunt Laena’s funeral, when Aemond claimed Vhagar for his own and your younger brother Lucerys struck out his left eye.
You were close with Aemond when you were children, but after the night he lost his eye, Rhaenyra moved your family to Dragonstone. Your relationship with Aemond had been reduced down to letters over the last six years. He wrote once and he expressed his fear that you might not love him because of the scar on his face due to the response of the whispers from the Keep. You assured him something so trivial as an old wound would not deter the feelings you already held for him.
The only people you told about the letters you exchanged with Aemond was your twin, Jacaerys, and your mother. Jacaerys didn’t like the idea of you marrying your uncle at first, but when you read him some of the sweeter things Aemond had written you, Jacaerys decided your uncle wasn’t the worst man you could possibly marry. Rhaenyra didn’t mind her younger brother and was more concerned about what Alicent could do to you upon your return.
Your reunion with Aemond went profoundly well as you promised it would, and the two of you married within weeks of your return to King’s Landing. Though Rhaenyra, your brothers, and uncle/new step-father Daemon attended the wedding celebrations, they didn’t stay long after the celebrations concluded. You understood because of the tensions between your mother and Queen Alicent, but it didn’t make you miss your family any less.
Aemond helped, however, as he loved having you by his side at all times. He walked you to your lessons, invited you to watch him train, he accompanied you to dress fittings. With all the attention you’d been receiving from your proud husband it came as no surprise to anyone when Aemond announced at dinner one night that you were officially with child.
From that moment on Aemond’s tendencies to keep a watchful eye on you even worse. Any moment he couldn’t remain by your side he assigned two of his very own hand picked Kingsguard knights to accompany you. Thankfully your pregnancy went as smoothly as possible, all things considered. You had mild nausea through the majority but eventually it relented and things were smooth from there.
Labor was long, and incredibly painful, so much so the maester advised if you’d squeezed any harder you’d have broken Aemond’s hand. Aemond had stayed by your side from the moment you informed him your labors had begun and refused to leave your side despite some of the arguing of the maester and most of the midwives. Finally after about fourteen hours, you gave birth to a healthy chubby, brown haired boy.
So focused on the newborn babe laid contently on your chest you hardly registered that your mother-in-law Queen Alicent had entered the room. Despite being nothing but kind towards her, Alicent never made a move to return the same sentiment.
But Aemond noticed. He watched as his mother’s face contorted into a look of disgust as she glared, glared down at the babe on your chest. He watched as his mother forced a smile on her face. Her dead eyes said everything Aemond needed to know.
“He’s a little darling,” Alicent forced through her fake smile.
Soon after Taelon’s birth, rumors began spreading around the Keep of his legitimacy. Your lady in waiting, Lilian had been the first to mention the rumors to you one morning as she brushed and braided your hair. The most popular whisperers were ones along the lines of that your son had been conceived while Aemond was away or that you had laid with your brother Jacaerys instead.
You mentioned them to Aemond later that same day when you met him for tea, and he told you he’d already heard with them and was working towards finding the source of such blasphemy so it would be properly taken care of.
Almost a whole month later, however, and Aemond did not yet have the source. At least, that’s what he told you. The whole time he knew it was his own mother, Alicent, that was spreading the rumours throughout the Keep. For weeks he turmoiled in anguish and fury that resulted deep in his gut as he worked his mind for a solution.
He couldn’t decide whether, or more accurately, just how to confront his mother on the subject. The news of the arrival of your mother and the rest of your family arriving in King’s Landing provided the well needed distraction for Aemond, and you.
You and Aemond await side by side as your family approaches, you with Taelon swaddled in your arms. Rhaenyra reaches you first, kissing your face several times before looking down to the babe in your arms. “Oh,” Rhaenyra cooes at your son. “He’s gorgeous, my dear. You’ve done wonderfully.”
“Thank you,” you smile at her, and offer her your son. She takes him in her arms happily.
Jacaerys appears by your side and pulls you into a tight hug. “I’ve missed you, sister.”
“And I, you, brother.” you whisper to him.
Lucerys and Joffrey join the hug, but soon lurch away as you begin to ruffle their thick, dark hair.
“You boys have grown into fine young men! I cannot believe how tall you all are,” you gape at your brothers.
Aemond places his hand at the small of your back and pulls you into his side. “My wife is quite right, nephews. It pleases me to see the man my own son is sure to grow into.”
Jacaerys can’t hide the shock in his face as he studies his uncle for any malicious intentions. Lucerys grasps your hand like he did when he was first learning how to walk and would use you to support himself. Rhaenyra’s eyes widen at Aemond in shock and she looks to your for an answer. All you give her is a shrug as you take your son from her arms and look back to your family. Your mother, brothers, stepfather Daemon, standing with you, your husband, and newborn son. Something you once thought to be impossible, happening in front of your own eyes.
You knew after everything that happened between Aemond and Lucerys the night Aemond claimed Vhagar the dynamics in your family would never be the same. For a long time Aemond held a deep, vicious hatred for Lucerys. To be honest you didn’t exactly blame him. After Aemond finally opened up to you about some of his insecurities and frustrations regarding the loss of his eye and the scar that came as a result, and it helped you understand these fears and insecurities is what fueled his hatred for your brother. Over time, as you fell in love with Aemond even more and convinced him of your feelings, he began to feel less insecure.
The welcoming party disbursed as your family began to settle into the palace for their stay. Word of their arrival has spread throughout the Keep by now, and your grandsire Viserys ordered a large feast to celebrate not only the birth of your son, but the union of the entirety of House Targaryen under one roof. At first the plans made you anxious as you’d wanted a rather small dinner consisting of the royal family, but it seems there are other plans.
Normally you would get ready for such events in the confines of your shared chamber with Aemond, but tonight you opted to join your mother and Daemon in their chambers. Rhaenyra asked for your help in choosing her hairstyle and accessories, an act you once cherished as a child. As you help your mother, Daemon coddles your newborn in his arms.
“He’s quite the charmer,” compliments Daemon, who is wrestling with the babe’s free flying foot. “have you chosen an egg for his cradle, tala (daughter)?”
“Not yet, uncle,” you shake your head. “Aemond wants us to pick it out together, and I haven’t had the chance to make it to the Dragonpit as of late.” You finish the parallel braids in your mother’s hair, securing them in place with delicate pins.
“You must choose one before we leave,” he demands, not taking his eyes off your son. “I cannot, in good faith, leave my grandson knowing he has no dragon.”
Aemond appears in the chamber doorway dressed in his finest leathers. “I assure you, uncle, Taelon will have a dragon. I will make sure no son of mine goes without.”
You smile at him, taking him in for the glorious man he is. “Taelon is but a babe, sweet husband. He has no use for dragons except for our own right now.”
“Correct,” Aemond wraps one arm around your waist. “Though the sooner we choose an egg, the sooner the hatchling will come forth.”
Rhaenyra stepped forward to rest a reassuring hand in her younger brother’s shoulder. “Now's not the time to worry of such things. We’re here to celebrate Taelon.”
“Oh and celebrate we must,” you coo before scooping your son from Daemon’s arms. “Who wouldn’t want to celebrate such a handsome little face?”
The rest of the night went off without a hitch, everyone dining, drinking, dancing, and having fun. For the first time in a long time your family was collected in one room, children and all, enjoying themselves. It was well into the night when you excused yourself briefly to see Taelon to bed before returning.
You’d just settled yourself back into your seat next to Aemond when Aegon rose from his own chair. “I’d like to make a final toast,” he begins. “to Taelon, first of his name, may he grow to be handsome, healthy... and Strong.”
Aemond rises from his seat so fast the front legs lifted off the ground and it fell back onto the floor. “I’ll have your blasphemous tongue for that, ” he growled through gritted teeth. His hand fell to the hilt of his sword and he began to pull it from its sheath before rounding the side of the table to meet his brother.
“I dare you to repeat yourself.” Aemond hissed as he raised his sword to Aegon. The Kingsguard did not draw their swords, instead choosing to shield themselves and the eldest prince. “And it shall be the last thing you ever do.”
Alicent rushed towards her sons, getting in between Aemon and the Kingsguard. “That is enough!” the queen demanded, “Put away your sword, Aemond.”
You stand from your seat, tired of the insolence, and you join Aemond’s side. “Queen Alicent is right, husband. There is no need to sink yourself to such lows as this drunkard.”
The two of you returned to your chambers where Taelon slept soundly in his cradle under the watchful eyes of your lady in waiting and two guards Aemond picked for Taelon specifically. You dismissed all three, knowing the guards would take up their post outside your chamber doors.
Aemond begins stripping down to his night clothes and you begin doing the same, keeping a watchful eye on your husband. You knew the rumors of Taelon not being Aemond’s son was beginning to get to him even though both of you knew there was no other contenders.
As the two of you began to settle into bed, you scoot as close to Aemond as physically possible. He chuckles softly before wrapping you up in his arms. He kisses your forehead, then presses a string of soft kisses onto your hairline.
“You should ignore your brother,” you whisper into the darkness. “He’s a fool who knows nothing of what it means to be a dutiful and loving father as you are. I’m confident Aegon doesn’t even know the twins’ names.”
Aemond laughs, “I suppose you’re right, my love...”
You sit up, placing your right hand on the pillow next to Aemond’s head for support. He reaches up to brush the long strands of your unbound hair that has fallen around your face. “What ails you, husband?”
He hesitates, eye searching your face for any sign of deceit. “I’m afraid of failing our son. Mine own father was never a constant in my life, and I fear this leaves me unable to father our son properly.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” you whisper. “I’ve seen the way you watch over him. I mean, the way you protected him tonight against Aegon’s words, that proves you are more than capable than watching over our son. I’ve never doubted you from the day I told you I was with child. From that day forth your only focus has been providing for and protecting your family. You’re an honorable man, Aemond. And the most capable father.”
Aemond rises to press your lips together in a quick kiss. When he lays back down he pulls you with him, resting your head on his chest. This way you can hear the hard thump of his heart beating in his chest, a sound so rhythmic and comforting you can’t help but be lulled by sleep.

I’m going to preface this post by saying I don’t give a flying fuck about the hate I’m going to receive for the opinion I will be sharing and I won’t bother replying to any comments attacking me for it.
I fucking LOVE that Aemond killed Luke and I wish it wasn’t accidental. I wish Luke’s death was full on intentional, lol.
As a victim of bullying, I’ve been in situations where I have had to fend off 20+ kids as a kid myself. I’ve been verbally, physically, emotionally and psychologically assaulted as a child by other children, simply because I wanted, strived for and had good grades in school, actions that did not affect any of my classmates in the slightest. Therefore, I absolutely sympathise with Aemond, whose lack of dragon and later on his acquisition of one hurt no one (dragons belong to no one, you snooze you lose), yet he still got ridiculed and attacked for it. Yes, Aegon was also a bully and I hate him for it, but ultimately he grows out of it and supports his family, unlike the Strong bastards who remain bullies and assaulters. Oh, and Aemond tried to hit Jace with a rock because he attacked him first. Accusing him for standing up for himself is victim blaming. People who defend the Strong boys are bullies and that’s final.
No, I don’t give a rat’s ass that his attackers were children. Aemond was a child, too, and they ganked him 4v1. It’s crazy how some of y’all support physically attacking someone because you don’t agree with them. It was satisfying to see him kick their teeth in. Aemond and Luke are only 2 years apart, even if the actors’ appearances suggest otherwise. Your age does not excuse you being a fucking piece of shit. Children and teenagers appear on the news daily as rapists, killers, assaulters and all kind of criminals. That’s the reason juvie exists. Children should face the consequences of their actions.
“Are you excusing child murder?” if it is by the hand of the child they unapologetically disabled, fuck yeah. Besides, at the end of the day, Aemond dies, too, so you could say justice is served.
Still, I would have given the Strong boy the benefit of the doubt if it weren’t for this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucerys is laughing at Aemond.
He is looking him in the eye and he is laughing at him. It’s been 6 fucking years. Lucerys is 17 (confirmed by the writers) and he feels no remorse for what he did. He was not punished for his action, so he has learned nothing.
He feels safe to mock Aemond, in the comfort and safety of his grandfather’s house, where his guard and stepdad can stop Aemond, whom he cannot beat on his own, from bashing his head against the wall. He feels safe to attack Aemond when he calls him Strong, knowing that other people will finish the fight he started but can’t win.
But what happens when no one is around to protect him from the consequences of his own actions? He shits himself. His face falls, he stumbles backwards and does not object to Aemond calling him Strong.

Not laughing now, huh, you little shit stain?

a rumored bastard and a proven, disinherited, legally illegitimate recognized bastard are not the same.
Rhaenyra’s sons are rumored bastards, i know the show has a lot of team green stans feeling bold but just as in the books, they are never legally considered bastards in the show either. they are speculated to be via their physical features and Laenor’s apparent sexuality, but since Laenor and the KING (btw Westeros is a absolute monarchy, meaning the king IS law) both claim all three boys as legitimate heirs, unless someone demands a medieval dna test, those kids are legally Laenor’s true sons.
this is apparently a very hard concept to understand for some, hell even Alicent in the show says something like “we can all tell” which fair point, but that is not proof enough. looks, accusations, and rumor are not the same as actual proof of adultery or bastardy.
someone i was having a “discussion” with used Joffrey as an example to point out a flaw in my logic, but ultimately proved my point. Joffrey was a rumored bastard. Ned himself had no more proof than Alicent does, just hair color and a hunch, so Joffrey was never legally disinherited from the line of succession. I hate to defend either of these men but King Robert never publicly disowned him and called him bastard, which is why Joffrey ascended to the Iron Throne. now the rumors did hurt, and caused huge political issues leading to the War of 5 Kings, which is exactly why Alicent and Team Green is so insistent that Rhaenyra’s children are illegitimate, they know they cannot legally or physically prove her children are bastards, especially when Laenor and the King are claiming them are true born, but they can spread the rumor and call into question Rhaenyra’s honesty and morality. think episode 8 when team green takes their chance with Vaemond to attempt a coup of sorts for the Driftmark Throne, why would the succession of Driftmark need to be settled if Rhaenyra’s sons are true born? why would Alicent / Otto need to make this decision in place of the sick king and mia lord of tides who both had already been stating Luke would inherit for years. it’s all apart of the scheme to tarnish Rhaenyra’s reputation as Vaemond has no other proof either, and promptly loses his head (both metaphorically and literally) by calling the recognized heir to the throne a whore and her children bastards with no proof in front of the whole court.
it is a political scheme on both sides, Alicent cannot prove anything, and Rhaenyra cannot disprove the rumors no matter how many times they are claimed as true born sons. Rhaenyra has to live in the comfort the law gives her, as legally her sons are seen as legitimate, and thus legally they are protected. and from an unbiased pov with both in universe and historical references, those kids might be bastards in actually but not legally.
Rhaenyra goes through hell to keep her children legally protected, not only for their sake but for hers because should the truth come out both her and Laenor would be seriously punished, i wouldn’t go as far as executed but that would depend on if Viserys was old and bed ridden or dead. which is why im making this incredibly long post repeating myself in every point. you can argue all day about Rhaenyra’s children and their parentage but i am making this to make it clear that her children are not *legally* bastards by Westeros law. in order for Jace, Luke, and Joffrey to be illegitimate bastards Laenor, Rhaenyra, Harwin, and/or Viserys would have to publicly acknowledge them as such and disinherit them. no, Laenor and Viserys dying do not magically make Rhaenyra’s children legal bastards either. they would, again, need to be claimed and proven as such and disinherited.
and at the end of it all, true or not true, the rumors made a lasting impact on the story. so much so this fandom is still debating this topic, and frankly i am dreading the season 2 release when all the bad takes and bad faith arguments start up again.
anyway other famous rumored bastards are in Targ history are:

Could I request a Lucerys Velaryon where he is newly betrothed to a lovely girl, us, who he falls head over hells for. The two being very sweet to one another, and the reader being scared to be married to a prince but he is there always. But the plot is about how closer to the wedding date the reader is trying back on her dress and just dreaming and Luke comes in and sees it? I really love lovestoke Luke! Please and thank you.

The word ‘betrothal’ had always been a term that frightened you.
From a young age, you had learned that betrothals were most often — actually, it was always — done as an act of political convenience; to ally different Houses together and strengthen their bond. Knowing it was an unwanted marriage, and often women were unhappily stuck in them, you forever kept yourself reluctantly terrified towards the idea of having to marry a Prince, or a Lord by the time you were a grown girl; not wanting to suffer.
And by the time it was your turn to get betrothed, your parents and yourselves travelled to Dragonstone, preparing to meet the Prince you would be married to in a future. Such overwhelming nerves and fright seemed to burden you more than anything during your entire journey, feeling as if you could melt right in the spot, with a desperate need to get out of there.
But fortunately for you, by the time you reached Dragonstone, you had been blessed with an eternally loving, timid young Prince. It was none other than the secondborn son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the future Lord of Driftmark: Lucerys Velaryon.
You had all been warmly welcomed by the Targaryen Princess herself, whom immediatly made you feel comforted as you noticed her tender, sweet nature around you — treating you as if you were her own daughter. And by her side, awkwardly stood Lucerys. It was nearly impossible to ignore him, feeling his gaze fixed on you the entirety of the time as you were received by House Targaryen.
Much like you, it was quite notorious the young Prince carried a timid nature. By the moment your gaze met with his own gorgeous, vivid green hazel eyes, he rapidly adverted his stare elsewhere, shyly smiling to himself and trying to hide the fluster that kept growing on his pale face as the seconds passed. Luke had both of his arms hidden behind his back at that moment, yes, but you could still tell that he was nervously fidgeting with his own hands and fingers. Gods, you were such a pretty, graceful lady, and Lucerys was already over the moon for you despite having merely shared a brief moment of eye contact together.
The idea of having to leave your home to live with your betrothed was, initially, a complicated thought to process; especially during the first days of your staying in Dragonstone despite how kind and patient everyone treated you. But of course, as you were often sat next to Lucerys during dinner and had some small chats together throughout the day — as awkward as they were in the beginning — you were quick in taking a liking for the future Velaryon Lord. Most definitely, it was his endearingly shy self the one that had carved it’s own way into your heart, and the one that managed to completely twist in a good way your sense of frighten at the thought of the word ‘betrothal’.
Tranquil, leisure strolls through the gardens, hours of reading to one another together, and sneaky late night talks was how you both spent your days until your wedding ceremony arrived. And even, Luke had gone as far as teaching you some High Valyrian so you would know the language and culture of his own family.
Of course, the nervousness regarding your marriage and the wedding continously lingered in you, gnawing every bit of your mind despite having a perfectly sweet relationship with Lucerys. And knowing how you felt, becoming used to freely speak up your mind whenever you were alone together, Luke never failed to comfort and soothe you by expressing his own nerves, but at the same time, reassuring you that he was certain all would go more than well as every preparation for the occassion had been carefully organisated properly.
It was the warmth that the Velaryon Prince constantly offered to you, that made you be over the moon and clouds for him, just in the exact way he felt around you. It had taken no time for you to become his ‘gevie rūklon’ — his pretty flower, being as delicately graceful as the petal of a rose. The one he was more than eager to cherish and show his undying adoration with each day that passed, and you couldn’t help but often thank the Seven for blessing you with such a loving future Lord Husband. With each passing day, you found yourself balancing between the thin string of feeling jittery, and an increasing zeal the closer you were to your wedding day.
And there you stood two nights before your official wedding date, staring at yourself in front of the mirror, simultaneously swinging between such emotions that equally made your heart violently pound against your chest in a way that your hands were visibly trembling. Softly, you adjusted the silk wedding dress that they had prepared just for yourself. As expected, you had already tried the dress on the moment the seamstresses were finished with sewing the very last details — but you were allured into trying it again, imagining how everything would go and practising for the official date.
Faintly, a soft sigh escaped from your nostrils, with a little grin tugging at the corner of your lips. Both your hands were clasped in front of your body, grasping the delicate texture of your dress against your skin. Your breathing became hitched softly, processing the thought of becoming officially married to a future Lord whom you already wholeheartedly adored.
You had spent endless hours in front of your mirror, reading your own wedding vows to yourself and making sure that you wouldn’t either stutter, mess up, or stumble upon your words. And even so, despite already knowing by heart your vows to your betrothed, you still continued to re-read them again, or mentally repeat it.
Your gaze lingered on the ground for a few seconds, admiring quietly the dedication the seamstresses put into your wedding dress, before you managed to raise it to stare at your own face. A nervous frowny grin tugged at the corner of your lips, feeling a flustered heat creeping to your cheeks. As your chambers were silent, the only thing you could ever hear was the sound of your heartbeat increasing by the passing of the seconds, along your soft huffing.
Overall, digging deeper beyond the obvious nerves you felt, there was an immeasurable feeling of joy. The thought of having been blessed with such an endearing future Lord Husband, who had also became your best friend and companion, brought a warming comfort in you that made you eager to the official wedding day. The sight of your own reflection on your dress was more than enough for you to helplessly wander through your own daydreaming.
Dumbfoundedly, your grin became wider as you could already imagine how your wedding would go. And not only you daydreamt about the wedding feast, the way you would be delightfully surrounded by your family, closest relatives, and perhaps how other Lord and Ladies would attend the celebration — but as well, you couldn’t help but imagine how joyful you would be spending the rest of your days by his side, pampering one another with tender caresses, and soft kisses.
Having one another for the joyful and sorrowful moments in your life, and even, having precious little children of your own surrounding both of you. The early prospect you had of how your marriage would be made you nearly melt from adoration. Your gaze remained fixed in your own reflection, smiling to yourself as your mind solely focused and dreamed of what was yet to come.
The door of your chambers were swung open swiftly, yet quietly — provoking a faint creaking sound before it was closed shut. Upon hearing the faint noise, you were quick in snapping out of your little daydreaming, adverting your gaze towards the person entering the quarters. It was, of course, none other than your betrothed; as he had gotten used to entering your chambers in the middle of the night without even knocking, especially when he couldn’t sleep.
A heated dark shade of red crept in your face, gulping timidly as soon as you made eye contact with Luke through the reflection of the mirror. Before managing to mutter a word, his green hazel eyes were fixed on you. The way you so gracefully stood in front of the mirror, using the wedding dress prepared just for yourself that was adorned with dragons and dragonscales imagery, made him awkwardly stand at your door.
Part of him wished to advert his gaze elsewhere, in a poor attempt to hide his overwhelmingly shy fluster; but another part of him, insisted on remaining with his stare on you. Gods, you were such a precious girl— how could he not swoon over you, like he always did? And seeing you in such a beautifully detailed wedding dress made his heart skip one, or two beats. Needless it was to mention the fact that since you were two days away from officially getting married, that already provoked on him some sleepless nights; and seeing you wearing that wedding dress made him feel as if he could melt right there.
The first time you had tried on your wedding dress, he didn’t have the opportunity to take a peek of how you would look. But now, curiousity was eased delightfully. If anything, it served to fuel his already undying adoration for your sweetly graceful nature.
Clearing his throat shyly, his green eyes gazed down to the floor. Both his hands were clasped in front of his body. “I’m... Sorry,” he began speaking meekly. Noticing the timid fluster notoriously creeping on his pale skin made you have to fight back a giggle. “Am I interrupting something, my love?” his eyes lingered on the ground, before reluctanctly gazing up at you shyly. You shook your head in response, before being able to mutter a response.
“Good.” with soft footsteps, Luke approached you. “You can’t sleep, too?” a scoff escaped from you, fixing your gaze on his features as he walked towards you very slowly. “Is it too obvious?” you inquired back teasingly as a helpless grin appeared on your lips, getting a chuckle from him as a response. “I can tell, my love.” as soon as Lucerys stood by your side — noticing him slightly taller than usual —, his green eyes stared at you through the reflection.
The way Luke so endearingly admired how precious you looked for your wedding ceremony made you want to squirm under his gaze, and giggle like a little girl with a crush. “I haven’t been able to sleep either,” his arms remained behind his back, feeling as if his staring to your reflection wouldn’t allow him to do anything else, just... Stare foolishly in love. “Our wedding ceremony is two nights away, and I feel restless.”
Seeing you in the wedding dress was too alluring to get lost in the daydreaming of your near future together. His smile seemed sheepish as his green eyes carefully observed every inch of yourself, treasuring you as his future Lady Wife. You had rapidly turned into his greatest pride, and Luke knew he would eventually show you off to everyone. Not like he wasn’t already doing so, either way.
“But overall...” his arms appeared from behind his back, walking to stand behind of you. Gently, his arms wrapped themselves around your waist, pulling you tightly against his chest in an adoring way. The warmth of his firm embrace was soothing, as he placed his chin on the crook of your neck, moving his stare towards your reflection once again. “I’m proud of having you as my future Wife.”
Of course, all his compliments were genuine — but most of the time, Lucerys appreciated seeing you become flustered at his displays of affection. Your hands were placed on his arms, caressing them gently. “You look more than beautiful,” he cooed, nuzzling the tip of his nose softly against your skin, “I can’t wait until our wedding ceremony. I know you will be such a loving wife and companion, as you already are.” with his words, his lips placed soft kisses on your skin, moving from your neck, to your cheek.
And in his words, there was no lacking in honestly. Each time his eyes took a peek at you, especially at the current moment where you tried back on your dress, his breathing got stuck on his throat; with his heart pounding loudly against his chest. Your giggles with each one of his loving kisses encouraged Lucerys to keep going, and if it were possible, he would shower you in his kisses eternally.
A contented growl spurred from your lips, craning your head lazily towards him, managing to place your lips on the skin of his rosy cheeks. “Sometimes I wonder, what have I done to possibly be blessed by the Seven to earn such a sweet, and attentive betrothed such as yourself?” you could feel his smiling lips grasping against your skin, holding a protective grip around your body.
Sighing, he managed to rest his chin on the crook of your neck, trying to catch his own breathing before continuing to fill you with kisses. Those sleepless nights were more than worth it, marrying such a precious beauty as yourself — and who could blame him? If he managed to even get some rest the two days before your wedding, Luke knew his dreams would be invaded by you walking down the aisle, in such detailed dress. “I can only wonder to myself the same thing, my sweet.” he replied briefly.
Allowing your head to rest against his own, his eyes stared at you through the reflection of the mirror. There weren’t enough words to express his admiration towards you, swooning inwards to himself at the sight of your vibrant grace.
Despite the obvious anxiety you equally felt regarding the ceremony, such as everything going as planned, and none of you stumbling upon your words when it came to reading your vows to one another, there was an exuberant eagerness to refer to each other as your own.
But, if anything— there was one thing that would be difficult for him to overbear during the ceremony. The sweet scent emanating from you was merely intoxicating, and his lips continued to playfully grasp against the skin of your neck, admiring you quietly.
“I do have to warn you,” shortly, he trailed off. His lips became in a dumbfounded grin, drunken with the feeling of a loving worshipping towards your entire self. Adoring you so much, that could make his heart combust at any second. You were bewitching at the sight.
Your eyebrows furrowed in curiousity before he continued, gripping your waist tighter, before one of his hands found your own, and squeezed it faintly. “I plan on not keeping my lips to myself during our wedding, especially if you are to look this gorgeous.”

i will never get over how aegon "he's a twat" targaryen, aegon "the pink dread" targaryen, wasn't there for his brother one SINGULAR time and proceeded to make the wildest 180 in targaryen family history to become aemond's absolute ride or die.
aemond goes to make a toast? oh you bet your ass aegon's already raising his cup before he so much as gets out a single word.
lucerys, the boy who maimed aemond, so much as twitches as if he's about to go over to him? aegon gives the kid a fucking concussion with how violently and happily he slams his head into the table.
aemond kills lucerys, with no evidence to prove it was an accident? aegon's just like "dw i don't even remember which one that is" and THROWS HIM A FUCKING PARTY.
i've already written about the statues here so i won't get into them too much but just remember that it's unheard of to have statues of political figures, plus very dumb to spend money on them in the middle of a war.
tldr aegon is THE definition of ride or die and it's just so funny to me considering how starkly that contrasts with his and aemond's entire childhood.

ok, so i've been getting a lot of "rhaenyra would never kill her siblings" asks recently.
first of all, no one is saying that rhaenyra WANTS to kill her brothers. but there's just no way that a woman & a bastard can inherit peacefully when 3 legitimate sons (with legitimate sons of their own) exist. this is not how westerosi politics work. the men in power wants to keep the men in power, this is the definition of patriarchy. and i'm not saying that's a good thing - because obvs it's not - but that's the truth. westeros is a patriarchal society.
the lords of westeros - the men in power - wants to preserve the existing order. legitimate sons inherit over daughters, bastards can't inherit. it's important to them because their own power is dependent on this very system. let's say rhaenyra becomes queen, and all of the sudden other firstborn daughters start to stand up and demand to be named heirs to their houses . let's say jace becomes the prince of dragonstone, and suddenly bastards that are older then their legitimate siblings start to demand their rights as well. from our modern pov - that's a great thing, but for the lords of westeros that's literally their worst nightmare.
"but a lot of houses supported rhaenyra". true! i'm not saying every lord in westeros will not accept her, i'm saying some of them def won't, and as long as aegon\aemond\daeron lives, there will always be someone advocating for their rights - and that's dangerous for rhaenyra and her family. so yeah, to protect herself and her children she will 100% kill her brothers. i'm not holding it against her - she's obvs going to care more about her children & herself then her brothers.
"but dorne ..." i feel like GRRM has made it abundantly clear that westeros does not want to become like dorne. dornish people are stereotyped and discriminated against - especially dornish women, that are viewed as promiscuous and are constantly oversexualized. westeros becoming like dorne is def not something westerosi men want.
ironically, jace will have to face the exact same situation with his own brothers aegon and viserys, but i digress.
also, did we forget how easily rhaenyra offered to have her 10yo brother tortured when she felt like her children were in danger? do you guys really believe that she's above murdering to protect them?

Summary: As you are soon to chose a husband, your brother Luke, realizes you know nothing of sex. so he decided to teach you.
Pairing: Lucerys Velaryon x TargaryenReader

Part II
Tumblr media
Author’s note: Basically following Targaryen traditions, yes. If you want to be added to the taglist of HOTD please lmk!
Born as the last child and only daughter of the marriage of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon brought a lot of attention, as you were a bloody living imagine of both Sir Laenor and Rhaenyra.
There was absolutely no way anyone could question your offspring and truth be told, you became the next Realm’s Delight but your giving nickname was the Enchanting Ember.
People of King’s Landing adored to watch you turn into the beautiful young lady you now were, and ever since your birth it was easier to mitigate rumors of your brothers potential “bastardy” so you quite literally, brought the family together.
Your mother had become Queen, as it was planned from the very start, Jacaerys had taken more responsibilities as heir to the throne and to start your mother’s regency on a happy note, Jacaerys and Baela celebrated their union.
Lucerys was a year away from becoming Lord of Driftmark, which meant he was also soon to celebrate his arranged marriage.
By this time you were sixteen and overall you had no political obligations like Jacaerys, Lucerys or Joffrey, but by your age both your mother and Daemon, who was very much your father, thought it was the perfect age to start looking for potential suitors.
There were in no rush to marry you, in fact, the simply wanted to give you enough time for you to choose your spouse, therefore, giving you the freedom of choosing your fate.
As your focus was now to find a husband, you began to take more care of your appearance, you had to represent your House, you had to present yourself as the rightful daughter of a Queen.
Your brothers noticed this, especially Lucerys. Both of you were very close since childhood, always sitting together at family reunions and dinings, but one night he noticed his perception of you, was changing to him.
It was no surprise when you were coming late for the supper, it was quite usual of your character and Lucerys was chatting with his brothers when the doors opened, reveling you in a rosy- silver gown, with your hair falling on your back yet perfectly arranged, not a single hair out of place.
He lifted his brows in awe, suddenly feeling a notorious lack of air in his lungs, truly everyone was mesmerized, from your uncles and aunt to your own brothers and parents.
“Forgive me all, for the tardiness” you gracefully excused yourself as you walked slowly to your place at the table, Luke was quick to react and help you sit beside him, you looked at him with a smile, you were always smiling at him but this time, his cheeks rapidly turned red as he finally took his own seat.
“You look divine, my dear daughter” your mother, Rhaenyra, complimented you and soon everyone else at the table did too. It was so obvious that Lucerys couldn’t keep his eyes away from you,
He was truly at the loss of words by the sight of you and your unique beauty, your clothes accentuated every curve in your body, how your breast were showing from your dress, not too much, but enough to make him want to see more…
What in the fuck was he thinking?!
It was nothing like him to have such sinful thoughts, much less of his sister, but he wasn't looking at you as his beloved sister, but as a woman that awakened a blinding desire.
For the next weeks, Luke tried his best to keep his emotions at bay, but whenever his eyes laid on you, whenever he heard your sweet voice, calling his name, your laugh, anything at all, his knees would shake.
He knew it was best if just focused on his own duties but against his better judgment, he offered to serve as companion and counselor even, in your quest of a suitable husband.
Your mother allowed it, because being rational, Luke was betrothed to Rhaena for long enough to be a good advisor.
What could go wrong?
Basically everything, because now Luke and yourself were practically joint to the hip, always chatting, walking, inspecting suitors.
He would even crack a joke or two about some of your prospects.
“This one isn’t much of a charmer, is he?” He muttered in your ear, making you hold back on a laugh, resulting in a grimace.
“You promised to be nice” you reminded him on the low
“You deserve more than just nice, dove” he said on a more serious note, because truly, he meant it
Lucerys was enjoying his privileged position because he could have you near, but he could not ignore the fact he became jealous of you, whenever a suitor caught your eye or when you were receiving generous gifts and praises of this men.
Because you were the Enchanting Ember. Of course men from all the lands were coming just to have a chance at earning your hand.
Your quest was soon to be over, only three men were left as the legitimate options; so to make something out of this event you had another family reunion.
Evening was going quite nicely, between the chatting, the small dancing and the food, it all seemed to be ending on a very high note.
That was until your drunk uncle Aegon, stood up and dangled his cup up in the air, spilling a few drops of wine on the table cloth.
“I wish to make a toast” Aegon slurred, everyone at the table shared glances between awkwardness and somewhat amusement.
“To my lovely niece Y/N! You have grown quite nicely but soon you’ll become a full woman as a complete stranger puts his cock in your-!”
“We’ve heard enough, Aegon” Alicent deadpanned, sitting him back down.
Everyone in the room went awfully silent and when Luke turned to meet your gaze he only found eyes of deep confusion, you were trying to look at your parents, but they avoided your gaze knowingly.
Had they not explained to you what was supposed to happen when you were married?
Helaena took Aegon back to his chambers and as we was dragged away both Rhaenyra and Daemon tried to approach you, but you took a few steps back.
“I’ll go back to my room” you spoke breaking the absolute silence.
“Y/N…” Rhaenyra murmured, but you ignored her and left the room at a fast pace, Lucerys looked at his mother whom looked awfully troubled.
“I’ll go see her” Luke eased her mother as he followed your steps, as he reached the door to your room he opened it quietly to see you in some sort of wrestle to get your corset out of your body.
Your maidens were a few feet away from you, not sure what to do in this scenario.
“May I?” you jumped, looking at your brother with embarrassment, you slightly nodded, right now the only thing you needed were truly familiar faces.
Luke dismissed your maidens and they closed the door behind them, after being left alone, the black haired prince approached you from behind, resting his hands on your and enclosing them tightly.
“Talk to me, please” he begged
“Luke… I’m not like you or Jace or even Joffrey, my only duty to this realm, to our mother is to marry a good Lord and I don’t even understand what my marital duties entail” you explained distressed and ashamed of yourself.
Lucerys placed his hands on your back, freeing you of the restraining piece of clothing rather easily, then, he exhaled deeply.
“Sex”
He said finally, making you turn in your heels, you were looking for further explanation, because still, the word meant nothing to you.
“You know how you must give birth?” You nodded quietly
“Sex is what a man and a woman must do, so that you are with child” he tried his best to explain as his cheeks were tinted red.
“Okay, but what does the act entail?” You asked, right now he didn’t know what to do, or even what situation was he getting involved in, but out of nervousness his gaze fell on your breast, his eyes went down instinctively scanning the thin fabric of your dress, it would be so easy to…
Then something clicked inside his brain.
“Let me show you” he said.
Before you knew it, you were out of the castle, dressed in the dirty rags pacing down the land in the quiet night.
Until you reached some strange place filled with all men and women. Luke was holding your hand tightly, guiding you.
“Where-“
“Shhh!” Luke shut down almost immediately, you were perfectly hidden in the shadows, your ears pricked as you heard some really strange notices and Lucerys instructed you to take a peak.
What you saw was beyond your wildest dreams, this people were all naked, you saw the men inserting their cock into different holes of the women’s bodies, fingers going in and out, man and women both having their cocks and cunts even on their mouths.
You just could not bring yourself to look away, too impressed with the scenes before you eyes.
The raven boy saw how aroused and mesmerized you were and carefully sneaked his hand inside your garments, causing your breath to become more faltering.
“This is what sex is” Lucerys whispered in a husky voice, his hand found it’s way to your core as he started to place long and sloppy kisses around your neck.
Your whole body was pulsing, tingling, burning all at once, every sensation was new and intoxicating, even when you couldn’t see his face, you could feel his hot breath on your neck, his breathing getting more elaborated, how firmly he was grabbing you.
He was touching and playing with your folds expertly, he wasn’t forceful, instead he was methodical, quiet even as he entered a single finger inside of you.
You had to catch your breath quick, the feeling of his digit inside you in that moment was pure insanity.
“Luke…” you moaned as he pumped up and down into your walls, groaning at how your insides clenched on a single finger of his; the more he pumped, the more your walls were constricting him and even as he heard you moan under your breath, he couldn’t take it anymore.
He plugged his finger out of you, earning a whimper from your lips and then he turned you to face him, to look him in the eyes.
So he could finally kiss you.
It was a kiss full of lust, need and urgency, the kind of urgency only lovers could understand.
Lucerys felt as if he was in Valyria, he was deep into the bliss over the sensation of your lips on his, of your tongues dancing gracefully with one another, he just kept clinging onto you for dear life, drawing you impossibly closer to him.
Out of the lack of oxygen you both pulled away from the kiss, but you were still holding each other.
“Do you want this?” Lucerys asked before this could go to the point of no return. He wanted you, desperately. But he would never do anything you wouldn’t consent to.
“I do” you confirmed, Lucerys felt the air in his lungs almost purifying with your answer, he smiled widely as he took your hand in his again.
“Let us go then, the castle is a better place to fuck” he jokingly said, making you giggle and soon Lucerys was almost dragging you at full speed back into the castle.
This time around though, he led you into his room and as soon as the door closed Luke was all over you.
He kissed you and lifted you from the ground to finally place you on the bed with gently and start removing your clothes one by one, you applied the same principle on him until you were both fully naked.
Both of you took a moment to soak in the sight of the other as all was very new.
“Fucking hell. Your body is utter perfection” he said truly mesmerized.
You blushed madly at his comment, smiling as he sneaked closer and closer to your face, he kissed you softly before going down to your neck, now intently sucking on the your soft skin, while his hand made its way back onto your core.
As Lucerys reached the valley between your breast, so did two of his fingers inside your folds, this time around, your sounds of pleasure were louder, which he absolutely adored.
His fingers were curling and pumping inside your cunt as his mouth was swirling and sucking on your nipples harder and harder.
For the first time in your life, you felt yourself hot and growing wetter under Luke’s skillful ministrations. Your nails were starting to dig into his shoulders, as you couldn’t control the sounds coming out of your mouth.
“God, Luke!” You moaned close to your edge, although you couldn’t put it into words, Lucerys could definitely feel it and so he stopped abruptly.
“Why did you… stop?” you said almost out of breath and notably flustered.
“Because I wish to feast on you” he said smiling wickedly before positioning himself between your legs and pulling your core closer by dragging you down by the ass.
Before you could even let out a sound, Lucerys had started to taste your, running his tongue up and down your folds, poking at your very center with the tip of his tongue, he went in all possible directions, sucking on all the right places.
Out of instinct and completely drunk in the moment you placed your hand on the back of his head, keeping him in place and even pulling him deeper.
“Y-yes! Luke keep g-going!” you begged in ecstasy, a knot was tightening around your stomach and you needed a desperate release.
Lucerys Velaryon was, quiet literally feasting on your juices and no matter how much you squirmed nor moved, the man was on a mission, a mission to make you ride the fuck out of your own ecstasy.
At this point there were no words, just incoherent sounds of absolute pleasure and even as you felt yourself come undone, Lucerys wouldn’t let go and instead, drank every drop of what you had to offer to him.
When he was done, Luke found your eyes, pleased with his doings as he could tell it had been successful to the purpose of making you cum.
The sight of you, glistening in sweat, with heavy breathing and rosy cheeks was arousing to extends he could not describe.
His cock was undoubtedly hard as he towered over you his green eyes seemingly darker and lustful.
“This will hurt, but I promise it won’t take long before it’s pleasure what you feel afterwards” he explained to you calmly, you placed your hands around his neck
“I trust you, Luke” you both smiled at each other and still looking at you in the eye, he positioned himself at your entrance, slowly entering you.
You gasped at the strange sensation of him being inside you and as he went deeper you understood him completely.
You could feel yourself adjusting to his size, and yes, it wasn’t comfortable, truly you did feel a pain you had never felt before.
Luke got your mind of the pain as he kissed you passionately and you reciprocated immediately, his cock went slightly in and out of you, trying to give you time to familiarize yourself to the sense of him fully inside you.
Just like Luke had said, the pain at one point turned to pleasure, your whimpers were now turning into moans as Lucerys placed sweet kisses on your cheek.
“Luke… please fuck me” you pleaded him and he was quick to answer to your command. The future Lord of the Tides held onto your leg, keeping it wrapped around his waist while his other hand held your hip.
His pace was firm and bit by bit he started going faster, being careful not to hurt you but still looking to suffice his hunger and need of you.
His head was buried in the crook of your neck, your eyes were shut in pure bliss and you were dragging your nails up and down his back as Lucerys found your g-spot.
The sounds of pleasure and the act itself echoing the room, you were chanting on each other’s names like a prayer. Your climax came first and not long after Lucerys followed, filling you whole.
As you both breathed heavily, Luke pulled out of you and it was amazing how hollow you now felt without his cock in you.
He reincorporated himself just to grab a fur large enough for the both of you to be covered, he grabbed the fur around him and hugged you inside the blanket keeping you incredibly warm and close.
“Luke?” You looked up at him
“Yes, dove?”
“It’ll be okay,right?” You asked.
There were a lot of things implied in that question, he knew that well, the honest answer was he didn’t know, he hoped so, but a lot of the things that were implied in that question were very much uncertain, but Lucerys knew that right now, everything was quiet, everything was okay.
So he went with that.
“Of course” he said as relaxed as ever, giving you the peace of mind you needed.
But that, was the last moment of peace the two of you would get.

'Alone' together// Lucerys Velaryon x fem!reader.
Tumblr media
Y/N Celtigar and Luke have been betrothed for years, but the reader is having a hard time finding true friendship on Dragonstone. Some tutoring makes Luke change his mind about his wife to be.
♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧♧
No one could stand Jace when he was ahead in any of the classes you all shared with the Master. That's why you took every lesson so seriously, just so you could take him down a peg or two. And it could be fun most of the time, but in the long run, you and Jace never quite clicked, causing Rhaena and Luke to stay somewhat aloof from you, preferring the favour of the prince to the favour of a pupil like you.
When everyone heard the news about Lady Celtigar's death, you were only eight. Rhaenyra saw in you a child who longed for her mother as she had longed for her own, and made a pact with your father to take you into her care. He agreed, proposing a marriage in return. It was a good idea, Valyrian blood with Valyrian blood, extending and strengthening houses that moved across the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately, though you were the same age as Jace, Baela was also a close child and the idea of her being queen in the future protected Rhaenyra and Jace's reign...so you were promised to Luke.
It could have been worse, they could have promised you Joffrey...or worse...Jace! At least Lucerys, as you found out a few days later, turned out to be a good boy, if a little too childish for your taste. Growing up in Dragonstone had been quicker than anyone expected, but no less hard. The siblings were very close to each other, and they were also very close to their dragons. Rhaena was sweet and pleasant, but there was something about her company that made you feel as if she was there out of obligation. You never had the feeling that you belonged there.
Arguments between the four of you were very common, never worrisome as they were usually the typical ones caused by going on adventures together, by stealing things from each other... although if someone came out crying, it was usually you. You were a studious young woman, always alert and if Rhaenyra found out about all the shenanigans of the group, it was because you told her. They never listened when you justified yourself by saying that lying was not an option for you. At dinners together you were usually the one who was left out of the conversation, even if they were talking about you. If you were lucky and Luke got mad at Jace too, you had the young man sitting next to you as he prattled on about Arrax and how much he hated Jace that day. He never failed to make you laugh. Sadly, that didn't always happen, and it was more common for him to give you the same dirty looks as the rest when you didn't play along.
Rhaenyra already knew about this problem, and she tried to educate you on how being friends with your husband was always the best way to be married. The problem was that you didn't really know how to make friends...because no one understood how you loved them, everything you said or did ended up being used against you. And no matter how much you made up your mind that you shouldn't do anything, you couldn't help but stay at the table with Luke after he failed his geography lesson with the Maester. Jace had already left for his dragon with a victorious smile, and Rhaena accompanied him, the Maester would show her how to feed her little Morning.
Luke was more embarrassed than sad, you could see it in the way he looked down at you as you paced the table with the map.
"Don't you have one of your sewing classes or one of those lame things you like to do?" he asked.
"I don't like boring things...I just like to be quiet. It's different. And no, I can stay and help you."
"No need, thanks..." he tried to concentrate on the map.
"You should learn some trick to memorize the map...a song, a rhyme..."
"That's just stupid." He interrupted you and you instantly stopped wanting to help him. Something must have crossed your eyes because Luke felt bad right away. "Sorry...it's just...Jace will laugh at me if he sees me burst into song if someone asks me to point out the Isles of Tarth."
This made you laugh, and Luke smiled at your reaction. It wasn't very casual to see you laugh genuinely, it was always usually out of politeness or only brought on by the Maester, Rhaenyra, or some guard. Although, if he thought about it, Luke had seen you laugh at times when he had focused more on you than on the dinners.
"It's just a trick, you end up memorising it eventually. Besides, by the time you're Lord of Driftmark you'll have travelled more. It will be easier."
"How do you memorise it?"
"Oh..." you didn't expect that question. Perhaps because the answer was so personal. "I think about my family. Where my grandmothers were born...where my uncle died...where my grandfather won a battle...where my mother was a ward when she was my age..."
It seemed like a sad thing, but it wasn't really sad for you. The maps served you like a history book. You'd always had a head for remembering stories, and it was all because you felt too trapped there, too lonely. You enjoyed visits to the castle, something the others hated, for even the dullest Lord had an anecdote about someone in your family. However, if the Targaryen children wanted to know something about their family, all they had to do was open any history book.
"It's very nice, really, though I think I'd go mad if I used your method." Luke tried to lighten up a bit the turn the conversation seemed about to take.
"Right, I think the simplest thing to do is for us to decorate our own map." You suggested.
"I don't have enough inks to make a nice map."
"I do!"
Luke had to follow you at a quickened pace, even though he was even slightly taller than you, your enthusiasm to show him your full artistic arsenal outweighed physics. You let him into your rooms, where he hadn't been for many years, and he was surprised to see that it was more cluttered than he expected. There were piles of books in every nook and cranny, many open and with notes on their sides. You also had a small desk in front of your balcony. When he looked out, he noticed that you overlooked the beach. It made him tender to know that he could watch you study while he trained with Jace.
The afternoon flew by as Luke decorated a map with colours assigned to houses, animals and creatures. He made trees and mountains, and you taught him to draw castles for important towns. On a thinner piece of paper, you wrote the names of all those places and Luke tried to name the points you pointed out and then you checked it by putting the paper over it. And it didn't take him long to match what he said with what it really was. He was so happy that he even gave you a hug.
From that day on, geography lessons were much more fun for Luke, as he spent more time drawing than memorising, and he showed you all the things he was doing. Jace's concentration would be thrown off by your whispering and giggling. Sometimes you would show him the annotations and drawings you had on your map, and you would have fun imagining an tracing a dragon ride.
He started helping you in Valyrian, Luke's favourite subject. And at dinners he always sat next to you, apart from Rhaena and Jace. Luke always did the talking, for he always had more to tell than you, who spent the whole day engaged in something completely alternative to what the others were doing. Day by day, he would let you feel open enough to give him your opinion on the books you were reading or telling him some childhood stories.
One of the days when Jace and Luke were training, Luke remembered that afternoon, and your little desk overlooking the beach. He stopped to look for you with his eyes, and it took him a while to find your figure, but he did. He couldn't see you clearly, but he could make out that you were leaning on your balcony, concentrating on something, with a pen in your hand.
"It would be good if you were concentrating on something, Lucerys," the older scolded him.
"Sorry, you're right...I'm really getting better though." Luke smiled mischievously at her.
"Only in geography, I'm not going to applaud your need to draw trees in the woods." Jace landed a lazy first punch, pulling Luke's gaze away from yours.
"Hey! Easy!" Luke tried to hit him back, but clearly Jace was better than him.
"Oops, sorry...I didn't remember how much of a pussy you've become since you and Y/N are the best of friends."
It was silly, but the fight that was supposed to be a rehearsal turned into something all too real, and Jace and Luke were soon fighting without swords, using shoves and fists. From a blow that Jace threw disproportionately, Luke felt part of his lower lip split. At the sight of blood, both stopped instantly.
Of course they were brought before Rhaenyra by the guard who at the time was unable to stop them. And you, who could hear all the commotion, went down to check what was going on. Both were dishevelled but only Luke was bleeding.
"I want an explanation, right now!" Rhaenyra looked furious.
"Luke is being unbearable, mother." Jace gave her a terrible look.
"It's you who can't stand to be outdone. You're always the most important." Luke accepted the water-soaked handkerchief you gave him. He let out a small whimper as he felt the sting.
"Maybe it's because I'm the heir to the throne, my education is vital. And you only know how to giggle and be a shitty student."
You couldn't take it anymore, he always used that excuse, that he had to be the best to be a good king. Luke had already confessed to you over dinner that the love and admiration he had for Jace causes him a lot of anxiety, because he felt unfit to rule something as important as Driftmark.
"That doesn't give you any right to hit him..." everyone turned to look at you, and Jace was relieved to find himself back in the same situation where you were making a fool of yourself.
"You weren't there to see it, it would be nice if you stayed out of this for once."
"I didn't do anything wrong, don't talk to me like that." You were getting that high-pitched, agitated voice again that you get when you're feeling overly nervous. Luke could see it, his hand rested on your arm gently.
"It's your fault Luke's an twat now. All you know how to do is be a pain in the ass to everyone, and now you're filling my brother's head with your bullshit."
"What's wrong with you is that you're unbearable and jealous because Baela isn't here to tell you how well you're doing everything."
"And what's wrong with you is that you're such a pain in the ass that your father put you on the first boat that offered to take you off his sight."
"Jace!" Rhaenyra snapped at him. "I command you to stop talking like that. I remember teaching you some manners, didn't I?. Apologize. Right now."
Jace gave a sigh. And with a forced smile, he focused on them both.
"Luke, I'm really sorry I hurt you, maybe I went too far, considering you're also going to spend the rest of your life next to this absolute bore and insufferable woman. It's a big sacrifice on your part."
Jace gave Luke a friendly slap on his shoulder and turned away, forgiving himself. You, on the other hand, had already started to feel the tears forming at the thought of disappearing from your father's sight. It was too delicate of a subject, and you longed for him, Jace had struck another blow too hard.
"Apologize to Y/N, Jace." Luke's voice sounded serious, demanding. Jace turned away.
"By what right are you commanding me around now?"
"I'm your brother, and Y/N will be my wife, your sister-in-law, and we'll all be a family. Show her the respect she deserves, and ask for her forgiveness."
Jace was quiet for a second. Luke's hand moved to reach for your hand and squeezed it, it was cold, but at his touch, it began to warm.
"I'm sorry, Y/N." It was dry, and it was surely not for you, but for Luke. It was still humiliating, and of course, it was you who left that room crying.
You tried to hide your tears from Luke, who was asking you not to leave, but you couldn't even come up with an excuse, you just disappeared from there.
When you didn't show up for dinner, Luke couldn't eat a single bite. Rhaenyra watched as your empty seat provoked something in him that hadn't happened before, he became quiet. Jaxe was also quiet, stressed and recovering from the scold he received from his mother after all that scene. With a nod of his head, Luke had permission to get up and look for you. Your door was open, but inside your room you were hard to find. On the floor, your back against your bed, a candle illuminated one of your maps. You tried to wipe your face a little as Luke sat down next to you.
"You're missing your favourite dessert..." he tried to get a smile out of you, he couldn't. "I'm sure Jace regrets what he said, he didn't say a single word at dinner."
"He regrets a lot of things I'm sure, but never that he spoke ill of me." You told him without so much as a glance at him.
"That's not true. There may be friction, but we're all family."
"Yeah, but I'm not in it. All I try to do is to be fair, to do the right thing. Your mother is a future queen to me, I must always tell her the truth. And none of the three of you seem to understand the great danger you are in every day..."
"I do understand that you do it for us, but soon she will be like a mother to you too." Luke held your hand.
"I miss my family so much...All I really have from them is just memories I didn't even get to live, few years with my mother... I try to love in the present but then I'm faced with this ignorace against my person.Lucerys, every day I feel this sorrow, this silence...I feel so, so lonely."
Then he understood your great passion for maps. And he suddenly felt like a tremendous idiot. I could have been there for you much earlier. But he was convinced that it was a good time to start.
"I've had dreams too...well, they were really nightmares...about being heir to Driftmark and spending my whole life alone. Jace would be here, Mother at King's Landing, Rhaena married, and everyone else would be dead...and you would be left, as always, locked in your rooms, not wanting to talk to anyone."
At last you looked at him, he too had a sad expression. His lip was split at the bottom. His eyes connected with yours.
"I'm sorry you had that impression of me...you...I actually, genuinely like you. A lot."
You watched as Luke smiled mischievously, like his mother did.
"It'll be the only thing I beat Jace at..." he finally got a laugh out of you. "Maybe, we could feel 'alone' together."
"Sounds like a good idea..."
"And we can go to sleep together, but alone." He continued to joke.
"And have lonely blonde and brunette children..." you continued.
"And sail the ocean alone..."
And in unison you both said "but together!"
At the coincidence, you burst out laughing. And more you laughed when Luke got a stitch of pain in his lip from smiling. His little scream was too funny.
"Hey...don't be mean!" he scolded you with a totally fake frown.
"Oh, my prince, I'm sorry! That wound looks bad..."
"Well, the Maester says nothing that can't be fixed with a kiss on the wound in question."
"Haha! Now I really feel sorry for you if you need a kiss from the Maester..."
"I'm afraid you're out of luck, the sages say only kisses from beautiful, blonde women, lousy with Valyrian but great readers with a strangely amusing laugh."
In that light, Luke had made you happier than you had ever imagined. He might still be a little more childish than you'd like, but it was this that made you laugh during dinners and lessons. This dedication to your could be the beginning of a fun and pleasant future, much closer than your inner child had imagined when you read those love stories in your books.
It was you who reached first, and Luke was the first to close his eyes. A tender kiss on the lips, first on his bottom lip, soft and slow, trying not to hurt him. But above was his upper lip, intact, and there you gave him another kiss, more intense, but just as sweet. And Luke pressed his lips together as hard as he could, letting himself be carried away by your soft lips brushing his. When you broke apart, he saw you blush a little, but you immediately laughed at him, who was much more flushed than you were.
"Actually...if I'm going to be your wife, you didn't have to memorise all those places. I would know them for you." You told him as you walked on your way to the kitchen, ready to dine alone with the leftovers from dinner.
"Right..." Luke led the way, holding your hand. "Although then you would never have realised how much you really like me."

People are coming for Alicent’s throat for supposedly marrying Aegon with Helaena, even if this is never truly stated in the show and in the book it is Viserys who forces them to be married, but we’re all forgetting that Rhaenyra does the exact same thing with her two eldest sons.
Did she ever ask Jace and Luke whether they want to be married to their cousins? No. She does everything she can to gain power and supporters. But when it was Rhaenyra that was forced to marry Laenor, or literally any other man of her choosing, then we were supposed to feel devastated that her autonomy is stripped away. Like, which one is it HBO? Are arranged marriages bad or not? Or is it okay as long as it isn’t Rhaenyra the one who gets the short end of the stick?
And what’s maddening is that this gets brushed off and everyone involved seems more than happy with this arrangement. How convenient for her. Rhaenyra does to her children exactly what Viserys did to his but we’re not even batting an eye. The show is so obviously biased towards Rhaenyra that it bores me.
