We all know Simeon is terrible with tech, and I imagine that he has pretty basic passwords for everything.

So one day, everyone gets a notification that user Xx_MommyAngel_xX on Devilgram has posted a pic. Confused, cause they don't know who this is, checks out and what do they see?

(Aka-MC guessed Simeons password and got into his Devilgram account)

Since Bakugo's back in the manga, I'm seeing more of the same old arguments about why Bakugo's actually a bad character/person/whatever circling the fandom, and I figured, since no one asked, I'd share my thoughts and maybe dispute some of the more frequent issues people have. Considering my username, I feel like it's basically my duty lmao.

To start with the one I hear most often:

1) Bakugo gets away with being an asshole and his attitude is terrible

Horikoshi spends a lot of time working through the fact that while Bakugo can genuinely be a huge dick, he "gets away" with his general loud-mouthed, crass, rude attitude because, for the most part, people don't take him seriously. Like, Horikoshi goes out of his way to show him openly being mocked (bus ride to the USJ facility, during his internship with Best Jeanist a bunch of kids taunt him, the whole remedial course program with the kids who think he's as threatening as a house fly, basically every pro hero he interacts with), but also has the other characters mostly disregard the things Bakugo says. Why? Because it's made clear, frequently and often, that he doesn't actually mean them. He'll tell Kaminari he'll kill him and not even move. There's no follow through, and he's often teased about it or ignored. At best, someone will express annoyance. The use of other characters as a tonal tell is a method of including us, the audience, in the joke. The joke being, in this case, that whatever Bakugo's saying is meant sarcastically/humorously. Like most things, it's all about context.

Additionally, did you think the scene with Bakugo's mom was supposed to just be funny? It also is meant to inform the audience about where Bakugo got his speaking habits from, and helps show that, to him, telling someone to go fuck themselves is just like. How you talk to people. Pretty sure he genuinely thinks shouting is how you show you're listening and engaged. Class 1A picks up very quickly that, while yes Bakugo has a temper, he's almost all bark and no bite, except for the occasions when he does actually lose it. Which leads me to another common complaint:

2) Bakugo experiences no real consequences

This is just... straight up not true. Just about every single time he acts like an actual asshole, Bakugo gets immediate and direct consequences that occur specifically because of his own actions.

Examples: Bakugo gets all uppity about having a powerful quirk and tells Midoriya to kill himself -> he nearly gets murdered like two hours later because he's unable to defend himself. He tries to attack Midoriya on their first day of school -> he loses their first real fight (in front of their childhood hero no less) and gets pretty solidly humiliated. He goes nuts at the sports festival -> he doesn't get many internship opportunities he gets kidnapped by a fucking terrorist group. He smacks Midoriya during their final exam and doesn't want to cooperate -> Midoriya Detroit smashes his face lol. He acts like a huge asshole at the licensing exam -> he doesn't get his hero license. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

And if your argument is that those aren't "real" consequences or whatever, keep in mind that part of writing consequences for a character well means tailoring them to what that character cares about and finds important, which guess what—Horikoshi does. All the consequences Bakugo faces tie into his character growth, and deal with issues that he takes extremely seriously, namely his hero career. Equally—and I've mentioned this before—it is not in the spirit of the story to go full on Gone Girl fuck-up-your-life on characters who start off being less than stellar. Especially since Bakugo basically functions as the character version of a moral litmus test for the audience; if you can't bring yourself to believe that a schoolyard bully deserves a second chance, how can you ever believe that real villains, who have killed people and done other awful shit, could ever deserve a shot at redemption?

Moving on!

3) Bakugo is too OP/has too much plot armor

To some extent, I mean, yeah. That's a fair argument. Bakugo is a prodigy, that's a big part of his character, and his quirk doesn't have any specific downsides or limitations the end up hindering him more than in passing. However, I will point out that as the story goes on and we're introduced to more pro heroes, overpowered quirks with limited or no downsides become much more common, so it doesn't stick out as much. Besides, when creating a character who wants to be the best hero in the world, who you'd like to have even a fighting chance in a universe where almost everyone has super powers, he kind of needs to have a badass quirk. Also, considering All Might is the figure both Bakugo and Midoriya are trying to live up to... that is overpowered. And as we're seeing in the manga, Bakugo is starting to come up short in the rat race. So I think some of the OP arguments had greater merit back in the day, but I don't really feel like they hold much water anymore.

When it comes to the plot armor issue... I see people's points, and don't always disagree, but Bakugo is the deuteragonist of the story, and he's in a shonen manga. Like of course he's got plot armor. Most of the universe wouldn't even function if there wasn't a lot of plot armor, because many of the quirks we see are basically magic and the fight scenes require a heck of a lot of suspension of disbelief. In the real world Deku wouldn't even have arms anymore. So yeah, I get it, but also... you know. Chill.

Lastly:

4) Bakugo hasn't actually made up for his actions against Midoriya

This one kind of ties in with the consequences one and also the attitude one, in that a lot of people's arguments about this are frankly just unrealistic. Like what exactly do you want Bakugo to do that he hasn't already done? Change his personality entirely? Be publicly humiliated and experience horrific suffering? What is the purpose? Especially when Midoriya, the person Bakugo has most hurt, has never once expressed that he wants Bakugo to be less like himself. He just wants them to be closer. Yes he could yell less, but Midoriya likes being competitive with Bakugo, he likes having someone who pushes him and won't put up with bullshit. He doesn't actually want Bakugo to change who he is as a person.

Additionally, I think it's only fair to point out that Bakugo has done most of his growth largely unaided and by himself. That's incredibly impressive. Like he, a sixteen year old with an inferiority complex and anger issues, realizes he was out of line and has a fucked-up view of the world and his relationships, and spends a lot of time, energy, and care in basically overhauling his entire life philosophy. Again, pretty much completely by himself. He takes responsibility for his own actions, he goes out of his way to try and fix his mistakes, he apologizes to Midoriya (publicly, expressing the emotions and reasons behind his actions without excusing them, and without pressuring Midoriya to forgive him, allowing the ball to fall firmly in Midoriya's court), and works to support Midoriya in any way he can, including taking a fucking bullet (slash weird finger blade thingy) to the chest to protect him. Nobody forced Bakugo to do those things, he chose to because he genuinely wants to do and be better. At this point, sure he's still a loud-mouth little shit, but being a loud-mouth little shit was never the problem, and he's addressed the things that were problems.

Basically, the point I'm trying to make is that while it's absolutely fine to not like Bakugo—he'll never appeal to everyone, no character can—a lot of the issues people bring up with him are relatively unfounded or over-exaggerated. If you're someone who dislikes him, cool! Just try to find something less superficial to criticize him for.

the lungthief handle is actually a old product of my fall out boy obsession back when i was in 7th/8th grade--there was a long running fandom in-joke that patrick stump (lead singer, little man with a big voice) had such a large breath capacity that he must have had at least five lungs and acquired them through theft. i made a video about it awhile back if you want more extensive lore, but this text post was what inspired the username back in the day. i still love fall out boy, but the username's longevity has more to do with brand recognition at this point lmao

as far as shakespeare character i relate to...oof. that's tough. not to be cliche but i find hamlet relatable for a myriad of reasons that range from stupid to depressing (i wont bore and/or worry you with the details but hes just sooo me), but i also think i relate to hermia and beatrice quite a bit too!!! i recently played juliet and found out i related to her a lot more than i initially thought i did too haha

Decided to go ahead and remake my old pinned post. This should have all the info about me you need lmao. Will probably have some copy-pasted info, this is mostly for formatting, adding extra information, and the like. Also should be easier for me to edit.

I don't use "Carrd" or whatever you people are calling it nowadays. I grew up in the era of “don’t give out personal information dear god wtf are you doing”, so this is basically going to be the only info you’ll know about me, most likely for a long time. You are not obliged to give out your legal information (age, living location, etc.) to self-entitled randos on the internet. The internet honestly shouldn't know anything about you lmao.

Also no real specific DNI, if somebody doesn't like my content then there's no need to bitch at me, and if I block somebody, this is my space first and foremost for me to curate. Closest thing is that I don't trust people who make aggressive dumbass discourse/stupid in-fighting discourse 99% of their identity lmao, people like that could be actually learning about nuances and doing actual activism instead... And I'm going to leave that at that.

Seriously, stop in-fighting, you're just making it easier for jackasses to legislate you out of existence because you're divide-and-conquering/eating yourselves instead of having proper solidarity and respect for people's personal choices/experiences/variance/identity. It's getting extremely annoying. I guarantee that 99% of people outside of the community/microcommunities don't even know about all of these arbitrary distinctions/arguments, let alone care. You're just cannibalizing yourselves while alienating potential allies/potential members of your community. This world isn't black-and-white, stop stressing yourself into grey hairs before the age of 16, what the fuck.

Shipping/fanfiction discourse is stupid. Don't come to me about shipping/fanfiction discourse. None of the terms used in the "greater" discourse mean anything, they're vague, ephemeral, and easy to rewrite. Both "sides" are ridiculous and filled with jackasses and fools, both have serious problems with using abuse survivors as "gotchas" against the other, being racist, queerphobic, xenophobic, and literally every other prejudice under the sky, and not having any discipline, tact, or the ability to mind their own damn business. Both sides need to learn some self-awareness, proper tagging (especially if being posted in a public forum), proper blacklisting, and that 90% of the shit they're fighting about doesn't matter in non-fanfic media spaces. I don't consider myself to be on either "side" because my experience with people who get so wrapped up in it has been overwhelmingly negative and with people on both sides accusing me of being on their opposite side. There's a lot more nuance here. Some people just read things in bad faith, whether it be through ignorance, being deliberately malicious, or the story just being really badly written. It's ridiculous.

If you have no unique icon+description+content when following me, I'm probably going to report you as a bot. I know about this place's bot problem (and the forms the bots can take) and don't really like taking chances on that.

I also do not share donation posts. Those are not my wheelhouse and I can never tell if it's a scam or not.

I've seen enough people brigading against TF content exclusively on this site way too much for me to risk drawing in those asses. On an article on the stupid discord username changes:

Meanwhile, people from regions where non-alphanumeric characters are common in names, such as Asia, would have difficulty fully representing themselves.

(this was about removing special characters and making the username case insensitive, but keeping the number discriminator)

Their final solution... Doesn't address this issue at all? Like they bring up it is an issue but don't do anything about it???

I still don't understand their reasoning for this change to begin with. What they say doesn't make sense and the changes they are making doesn't seem like it will address these issues. It reads more to me like they decided to make this change, and then had to come up for a reason for it afterwards

I don't really. Want strangers to find me on there because I use a similar username across all platforms, so either I abandon my brand or block and ignore liberally - neither of which I had to do with my old system

What I think they should have done instead of whatever this bullshit change is is: make usernames case insensitive. Some people are naturally going to have to change usernames because of this

That's really about it tbh, I was thinking about making the discriminator unique, but then you'd definitely need more than 4 digits

Tldr I think making usernames wholly unique and exclusively alphanumeric is at minimum dumb and lazy, and also a little bit racist

pre-read: beautiful deception

hello all! ari here, i finally got around to editing, updating, and moving my NCT gang au, “beautiful deception”, off of wattpad and onto tumblr! it’s been about 6 or so years since i first wrote this fic... wow. it got a lot of love on wattpad, but my writing style has changed and grown immensely since i started this, so i figured it was time to give it an upgrade and finish it here on my tumblr. so if you read this fic and it seems really really familiar for some reason, you probably read the initial version of it on wattpad under my old username mineyoonghi!!

a few things to be aware of before you begin reading:

1. i started this fic waaay back when NCT was ot18, literally days after the “black on black” mv was released lol. that being said, the fic is written with only ot18 until chapter 21, when i found a way to incorporate wayv; i am hoping to find a way to make it ot23 but be warned, you may not see sungchan or shotaro here.

2. i wrote the initial fic on wattpad from a 1st person pov and named the character song seunmae- i decided to change this and instead convert the fic into a reader-insert 2nd person pov, so bye-bye seunmae lol. if you see the words “i” “me” “my” etc. in this fic, that’s just a typo from the original version hehe, please ignore.

3. i got locked out of my wattpad account where i wrote this fic (mineyoonghi) a few years ago because i lost access to the email i used to sign up.. smh. anyways, wattpad has been a bitch about not letting me get back into it so the story is unfinished on there; i’m pretty mad abt it because i had SO many chapter drafts and plot points saved in my unpublished works there, and i have no way of getting back to it to remember where i was going with the story. so everything after ch.21 will be from scratch, since that was the last part uploaded on wattpad for public reading. i’ve called my email provider so much that they know me by name and they still can’t unlock the account for me. ugh.

4. in case i havent mentioned wattpad enough yet, i’d like to say that this gang au was largely inspired by another fic i read on there named “bandaids”!! i totally fell in love with it although i don’t remember the user who wrote it (or if it’s even still up anymore). so if you see a lot of similarities between bandaids and this fic, it’s because beautiful deception was brought to life after reading that one!!

5. if you’re an OG who read the oldie version of this up on wattpad, two things: i love you i love you i love you, and also forget that version pls and thanks its SO embarrassing haha. but seriously, if you remember that version then you remember how weird the ages/personalities were for some of the members,, don’t worry i fixed that here. idk what i was on when i wrote some of the members that way lmao but it’s all good in this fic, it’s much better now.

Hi! YES YES YES EXACTLY EVERYTHING YOU SAID ABOUT ATEEZ AND THEIR PHOTOSHOOTS.
