Okay, we already know that Richie’s fear was people finding out he was gay. It probably also had to do with the stigma around it at that time. During the 80’s AIDS was huge and everyone saw gay people as disgusting, Richie was terrified of being seen as disgusting and unlovable. He was probably terrified of Eddie finding out because Eddie was such a germaphobe. Eddie was probably also a bug germaphobe during that time because HE felt unclean because he also knew he was gay and felt sick.

I don't think I've ever been so emotionally drained. I've just finished the last episode of its a sin and I actually can't deal. It showed so much pain. So many people died. So many gay men forgotten. So many queer people ignored and mistreated. A whole community isolated within society. And yet I still smiled in the last scene. It's a beautiful show, please watch it.

World Aids Day
"It is bad enough that people are dying of AIDS, but no one should die of ignorance." - Elizabeth Taylor. This World Aids Day, come together to support individuals who are living with HIV, fight HIV together, and remember those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. And commit to ensuring the rights of those living with HIV, putting an end to new cases of the disease, and combating stigma and prejudice against those living with the virus.

Northstar's public coming out has the shape of a SPN season finale.
It starts when a stacked mounty literally bursts into the hospital room of Northstar's adopted baby daughter, who was dying of AIDS.
This guy TRIES TO KILL HER because:
Tumblr media
And so Northstar finds himself fighting another grieving dad, in the middle of the dry goods aisle, laying down the law...
Tumblr media
And instead of saying, "Oh, damn. I guess you have multiple reasons to care about the AIDS crisis," Mounty Dad blames his son's death on Northstar not outing himself sooner.
Tumblr media
But Northstar's not having that shit. He's got fucking boundaries.
Tumblr media
And then these two jacked Canadians who will soon share the awful experience of losing their children to AIDS, they just hug it out seconds after kicking the shit out of each other.
Northstar calls for a press conference soon afterwards.

**Stop saying monkeypox is a gay disease!**
Did people not learn from HIV? When you blame queer and trans people you’re just making it more likely to spread because most straight people will seriously believe they can’t get it because they’re straight! Guess what?! Queer and trans people’s HIV numbers are going down while straight people's are going up! That’s how monkeypox will be! Stop saying it’s a gay disease! It’s not a sexually transmitted infection! You don’t have to have sex to catch it! That means everyone can get it!

I wrote “My Government Means to Kill Me,” a novel about a 🏳️‍🌈 Black man coming of age in NYC in the midst of the AIDS epidemic, in part because we lost so many amazing artists to AIDS and so many stories were left untold.
For World AIDS Day, I wanted to celebrate the lives and incredible work of talented 🏳️‍🌈 writers that we lost too soon.
