Last night was special. I travelled up north on a whim, hoping to see and photograph some of the best northern lights this season. And while the forecast didn't come to pass (it was waaaay off), a few hours of waiting finally paid itself off. Most of it was brief, but those few moments of intense activity were so beautiful.

What remains now is to sift through the many hundreds of pictures and videos from this night. And I'm looking forward to all of it!

The 2 hour drive I did to the coast yesterday was totally worth it. It was a beautiful night, and it's kind of therapeutic standing on the shore listening to the waves crashing while waiting for the aurora to appear. This northern lights season really is off to a flying start!

Skierfe, a true icon in Sarek National Park 🏔

We’ve had a great week on the King’s Trail so far. Nature in these parts of the north is so incredibly beautiful and unspoiled.

We’ve completed half of our planned route on the trail. Unfortunately, due to an injury, the remainder of our adventure has been replanned to ensure that the injury heals well. This means that we will have to do the last part of the hike some other time (possibly next year). We will catch up to our original schedule as we move further north in the next few days. Oh and I’m super happy with the performance of the Sony A7IV. More pictures will come as soon as I have better access to the services that modern infrastructure has to offer!

Summer's amazing, but I long for darker skies. The conditions for auroras have been kind of optimal so far this evening. I'm happy I have plenty of photos in my archive to look through when the urge becomes too strong!

Now that I have explored photography for some time, I decided to invest in a new camera. I chose the Sony A7IV because of its versatility. And while it has more capabilities than most would ever need, it's still very intuitive, and the few tests I've done so far have resulted in really good photos.

I will be traveling to the far north soon to hike on the King's trail for a couple of weeks (added a link to a video for those interested). I'm super excited to see how this camera will perform in the wild!

Going through the archive of northern lights pictures I took earlier this year. This is from January 11th, and the shots were captured about 1 hour and 20 minutes northeast of Stockholm, Sweden.

Summer's nice, but I'm really looking forward to getting some dark nights again ✨
