I was in medieval England and instead of the Black Death everyone kept getting Gonorrhea so in the history books they called it “London’s Cheeks: The Clappening”.

Add your reasons, if you like!
Other people have added these:
• Yellow fever @notoverjoyed
• Scurvy @monitorchakas
• Lymph disease @wyrmalien
• Diphtheria ( I couldn’t fit this one)
• Malaria “ye olde marsh fever” @bombadilbaddie
• Scrofula “The King’s Evil” @hasturswig
Edit for all the people telling me “uhhh tuberculosis still exists”: I know! :) In fact, all of these sicknesses still exist. In the modern world we live in, however, most of these are only prevalent in developing countries, and certainly not to the extent they once were.

Confirmed, when the nurse tried to insert the speculum I screamed in pain. So it's downstairs too
Under the microscope from the vaginal swab she could see something that indicated chlamydia, so she gave me some antibiotics. I might need another round for the gonorrhea if I have that too, or whatever is in my throat, but who knows.
She gave me a thrush pill too just in case that helps. The discomfort I'm feeling there is akin to thrush.
Generally I'm feeling better though apart from some sex hole discomfort. I did a gentle-ish session at the gym this evening and made a multi part dinner.
Real bummer that the antibiotics mean I have to stay out of the sun when the weather is meant to be great this weekend 🥲 so I skived work this afternoon for a couple hours in the sun before taking my first dose. And mostly I'm just so relieved to finally get some treatment!
