Flawless
CW: Nudity, body image issues
Julieta sighed.
It was a deep sigh, the type that tells the world that you see no way out.
She and Agustín were spending a rare night going out to dinner with Pepa and Felix. The Encanto had a few restaurants and one of them specialized in dishes from larger, international cities like Bogotá. She was sure that Agustín would do his usual scrutiny of the liqueur list after which the three of them would good-naturedly roll their eyes, but at present she had no desire to even leave the house. She had her own thing to scrutinize.
Her figure. All of her body, really.
Pepa had a new dress which would no doubt show her slim figure off. Julieta was proud of her sister in every way, but the envy, common to sisters, was still there when it came to looks. Pepa’s hair was lighter so her gray didn’t show, she had lost the weight with Antonio while Julieta still privately fretted over the extra pounds Mirabel had put on her, and she had the carefree personality to match her slightly avant garde style. Next to her, Julieta sometimes felt more like Pepa’s mother than her sister. And sometimes, like now, she just felt old and dumpy.
She was currently standing in front of her mirror with her dressing gown open, looking at her nude figure. No matter the turn she made or the light that hit her, she just couldn’t make herself feel comfortable with her looks. And she had been looking at herself for twenty minutes. She wished she could feign illness and not go out, but of course that was always impossible for her to do. It was at times like this that she didn’t like her gift all that much.
A small noise came from behind her and she gasped in surprise, pulling the robe closed and tying it. Then she realized the noise had been a side table falling over, which only happened if someone bumped into it.
A certain someone.
“Gus, I know you’re there,” the brunette said with a roll of her eyes.
Somewhat sheepishly, Agustín emerged from his hiding place and gave her an endearing “you caught me” expression. However, there was another look in his eyes, one Julieta hadn’t counted on seeing. It was a needy, lust-filled gaze and it bore down on her, despite his attempts to minimize it.
“Lo siento, mi amor,” he smiled. “I…didn’t count on a show before dinner.”
“How long have you been standing there?”
“Oh, long enough,” Agustín replied, licking his lips and leaning against the wall. His eyes never left her face. Underneath his tie, he was sweating and it wasn’t from the humidity. “I liked it better before you put the robe on.” He gave her his ridiculous trademark eyebrow wiggle which she usually found endearing.
This time, Julieta felt her eyes burn. Her husband looked at her with such a desirous and loving expression and she couldn’t bring herself to understand why. She felt too old for this insecurity and irritated with herself for it. Agustín was an attractive man and she wasn’t blind to the looks he got from other women. His eye never wandered from Julieta and he was oblivious to his appeal to others, but it stung at her anyway.
“I have to hide my flaws somehow,” Julieta muttered, clutching the front of the robe tighter. “I’m trying to find something to wear tonight that will do just that.”
“Flaws, huh?” Her husband replied, the smoldering look still in his eyes. He pretended to ponder this for a moment, before walking over. “Well, if you’re trying to find your flaws, I’ll help. Let me take a look.”
Julieta turned back towards the mirror with a baffled expression. Rather than opening the robe, Agustín took the dressing gown and gently pulled it down so that Julieta stood fully nude. She cringed and her face flushed scarlet. Although they enjoyed their marriage bed frequently, it had been a long while since even he had seen her completely naked and the urge to grab the robe back was overwhelming. Tossing it on the bed, Agustín turned back towards his wife and swore slightly under his breath. She noticed his eyes grow wider and his face flush darker, but he kept his calm persona as best he could.
“Agustín…”
“Shhhh, I’m working,” he replied, letting his hands wander over her dark skin. “Let’s start here.”
He traced her stretch marks and cupped her breasts, his hands lingering happily on her while she watched them in the mirror. While kissing Julieta’s neck, Agustín traced a long finger down her back and then to the loose skin under her belly that had housed three beautiful daughters. For a moment, he let his finger dip much lower, eliciting a gasp from Julieta. “I don’t see any flaws in your skin…”
“There’s…”
“Hush now, princesa,” he murmured in her ear.
He reached up towards her hair and tugged it gently down from its bun. The waves framed her face perfectly as he stroked it and let the silvery black strands grace his fingers. Burying his face in it, he inhaled the scent of basil and flour that always clung to her. He gently kissed her neck again still nuzzling her hair. Agustín’s voice was strained when he spoke again and his breathing was getting shallow. “Hair…Dios… is perfect.”
Turning her face upward, he held her head between his hands and gazed deeply at her. He combed his fingers through her hair and tried to keep his failing mind steady before a rush of words fell out.
“Your eyes…ears…everything. Mierda. Oh hell, you’re so beautiful…”
He pressed his lips to hers in a searing kiss which she happily returned. Julieta’s eyes fluttered and she giggled like a schoolgirl at the feeling of his mustache as he moved from her lips to the rest of her face. She relaxed. Agustín loving her body was not the same as her doing it, but she felt a bit of confidence grow back at the obvious enjoyment he was getting and the love that he looked at her with. He murmured against her neck before speaking again.
“But if you want a flaw, I’ll give you one.” After two minutes of his lips on her, a rather dark mark was left under her ear. Julieta’s bliss faded quickly when she noticed.
“AY, Agustín!”
“Lo siento. You’ll…uh…need to wear your hair down,” Agustín gasped, trying to steady his breathing. “Other than that, I don’t see a single flaw in you.”
“Thank you.” His wife’s voice was a whisper.
With a newfound joy, Julieta reached for the dress she had planned to wear as her husband checked his pocket watch. Noticing the time, he laid a hand over hers. There was still an hour before they needed to leave.
“Although,” Agustín, murmured. “There may be a small problem I need you to help with.” The fire in his eyes had simmered, but it was still there.
“And that is?”
Julieta tilted her head, confused and then noticed Agustín unbuttoning his suit vest. He winked at her.
“I’m overdressed.”

Julieta: I hope the baby looks like you.
Agustín: No, I hope the baby looks like you.
Young Isabela: Well, I think the best thing would be if the baby looked like me.

Think About Dessert
This is the sequel to my drabble Flawless, where Julieta is feeling insecure before a night out. Maybe Agustín’s affections and a specific outfit will help
Pepa walked down the hallway towards the staircase, keeping an eye out for her husband. She was wearing a new green dress for dinner that Mirabel had insisted on sewing her after seeing it in a fashion magazine from the States. Although the Encanto was opened a bit more due to the break in the mountains, such treasures were still a rare find. Mirabel had taken to them like a duck to water and ran her sewing machine night and day copying the styles. She had done a lovely job. Pepa’s favorite pair of earrings were missing however and she walked straight to Julieta’s door, ready to demand them back. They were sisters after all and often “borrowed” each others things.
Before she could knock, however, her brother in law opened the door and came out, looking as polished as always, but with a certain difference that didn’t escape the redheads notice.
“Oh, hey Peps. Wow, don’t you look nice!” Agustín said with an affectionate smile. The two of them had taken a bit of getting used to each other in the beginning of the thirty plus years of their relationship, but as time had worn on, their interactions had cemented into a very fond and enjoyable relationship. Oftentimes they had coffee together while discussing a wide range of topics from politics to novels and never tired of teasing their respective spouses together.
Pepa, however would tease Agustín before Felix any day of the week. She grinned devilishly at her brother in law. “Weren’t you wearing a different vest before?”
“Uh…no.” Agustín pretended to be invested in his cuff links as he averted Pepa’s gaze. A small fluffy cloud popped up over her head, complete with a tiny rainbow. “No, I had this one on earlier.”
“Did you?”
“Yes.”
“Liar. How long have I known you and you still can’t fool me?”
“Alright, I did change because I thought this one would look nicer.”
Pepa regarded him for a few moments and narrowed her eyes. Then she leaned forward and pulled Agustins shirt towards her and smelled it.
“I guess Julieta’s perfume completes the ensemble then. It’s all over you.”
Agustín and Pepa were halfway down the stairs and Casita rattled in agreement with the middle triplet.
“Thanks, Casita.” Agustín said, rolling his eyes. Pepa laughed and hugged her cuñado’s shoulders, ruffling his hair afterwards.
“You aren’t as suave with me as you are with her!”
“That’s…that’s…kind of the point, Pepa.” Agustin blushed in spite of himself.
“And speaking of suave,” Pepa’s voice dropped to a low purr as she caught sight of Felix in the courtyard. Seeing her in the silken gown, his eyes grew wide and she slowly walked down the stairs and twirled for his approval.
“Heyyyyy, preciosa. Don’t you look good. Oof!” His hand clutched his chest as he stared at his wife.
“Gracias, Félix.” Pepa walked forward and kissed him.
“I thought you meant me,” Agustín joked. He was still fiddling with his cuff links and Pepa reached over to help him.
“Of course, cuñado. No one is prettier than you.”
Agustín laughed. “I thought not.”
“He’s even got the perfume to match,” Pepa whispered. “Julieta put it on him herself…with herself.” The last part was a whisper, but Agustín had heard her clear as day. Even Casita fluttered her tiles in what he could only assume was an amused embarrassment.
“Guess he’s had his appetizer, then!” Felix chuckled.
“And the main course…” Pepa said with a wink.
“And breakfast for tomorrow…”
“And…”
“Alright, alright!” Agustín replied, wincing slightly.“We get it.”
“Juli got it too, apparently.”
“Thank you again, Pepa.”
“Speaking of my sister, where is she anyway?””
Suddenly Felix’s jaw dropped and he let out a low “whoaaaa” and Agustín turned to see what he was looking at .
Julieta came down the stairs, wearing a fitted black dress. It was off the shoulder and had long flowing ruffles collecting at the bottom, which moved gracefully as she walked. It was cut so more of her leg showed than usual and the black color was striking against her darkly tanned skin. She wore a pair of fashionable high heels that Mirabel had talked her into buying and was as graceful as a dancer walking in them. Her hair was down and the humidity made it extra curly. Her comfortable silver drop earrings that had been a 50th birthday present from Agustín, adorned her ears.
She looked like a painting. Or like a song come to life. Agustin only had to take one look at her and suddenly felt like he couldn’t breathe.
She was a damn work of art.
“I’m sorry I’m late.”
The three other adults stared at her and Pepa began to laugh.
“Well look at you, sexpot! Dangerous curves ahead!”
“Pepa!” Julieta groaned. “It’s not that revealing.”
“It highlights all the right places, hermana. I don’t know what you think you have to be self conscious about.” Suddenly her face got the same wicked grin as it had with Agustín earlier.
“What, Pepa?” Julieta knew that look.
“Which earrings are you wearing? Mine?”
“No, just my normal ones—-hey!”
Quickly Pepa moved towards her sister and tucked Julieta’s hair back just slightly so she could see her ear, the love bite beneath it, and another fresh one left by Agustín not thirty minutes earlier.
“Well, well. What have we here? That doesn’t look like a cooking injury.”
“Would you stop?” Julieta pulled her curls back over the mark. “And stop smiling at me like that. It’s really not that immodest of a dress! I don’t need to show everything.”
“Uh, Gus’s face says otherwise,” Felix chuckled. One arm draped around Pepa’s hips and the other teasingly pointed at Agustín. “You okay there, man?”
Agustin’s jaw hadn’t closed since she walked in and although he had just seen her for quite awhile without anything on, his eyes were glued to his wife as he took in her figure for the hundredth time that day. He always thought she was beautiful and had told her so both in words and otherwise many times before, but she had certain confidence about her as she walked in the fitted dress. It fit her like a glove. Highlighted her best parts. Her insecurities had disappeared under his reassurance, but she seemed to be quite aware of how she looked and was proudly displaying her looks. Her confidence had been restored, and, although it seemed impossible, she was even lovelier for it. Julieta’s hair falling behind her, tiny curls touching her face, her smile, the sheen of sweat on her face, the skin of her back displayed just enough…and dammit…the way her hips moved in the heels. He suddenly felt lightheaded.
“Uh…fine…I’m…I’m okay.” Agustín began to pull at his collar. It was suddenly way too hot in the house and he felt as if he would fall over if he stared at Julieta for too long. Felix and Pepa exchanged a look.
“You sure you two wouldn’t rather stay home?”
“Félix!”
“What?! C’mon, look at the poor guy! Juli, you’re killing him!”
Julieta smirked a bit, seeing the effect her outfit had in him. Not that he hadn’t made his feelings towards her quite clear only less than an hour ago.
“Well, we don’t have time for you two to do it again,” Pepa said, tossing her ginger curls so they flowed down her back. “I’m starving.”
“Im right behind you, mamí.” Julieta may have briefly stolen everyone’s attention, but the slightest movement from Pepa was enough to enrapture Félix and glue him to her side. Calling for Agustín and Julieta to catch up, the couple walked out of Casita and into the warm evening.
“Should we go, Gus?” Julieta smiled at him as he desperately kept trying not to pass out.
The helpless look in Agustín’s gaze was back. “Mmhmm.”
“Do you like the dress on me?”
“Very much.”
“It looks good?”
“Oh so good.”
Agustín’s voice lowered as he came close to her, pressing his lips to hers in a searing kiss and resting his hands on her hips. He gently stroked his fingers over them before ducking his head down so he could whisper in her ear.
“It would look better on the floor though, in all honesty. You wicked girl. How am I going to make it through dinner with you in that?”
Julieta winked and began to walk towards her sister and brother in law. She turned her head and beckoned Agustín outside with her finger as her heels clicked on the floor.
“Just think about your dessert.”
Many thanks to @enigmaticdoctorscully for your support and art for this ficlet!!!!

hello hello, first ask
any cool couple hcs? asking for them specifically because i was going through some encanto vids and i still cant believe people from two years ago said that julieta and agustin don’t stand up to alma…
like what…there’s literally canon evidence shown in the movie, i still dont understand how people can get to that conclusion 😭
but anyway yes, more cool couple appreciation hehe 🫶🫶
ooh yay!!! I never get asked about cool couple so I actually had to think a bit for this one! Also yes!! people need to rewatch because both of them stand up for her multiple times!!
agustín loves spoiling his wife!! him and Felix will have long and deep chats about what they plan to do for them!
Julieta is in charge!! agustín is happy to let her!
one time he tried to make her breakfast in bed for her birthday and because previous attempts ended with casita on fire temporarily… he got the girls to help him!!
agustín plays the piano for julieta!! i hc they have one special song that probably is super significant for their relationship and it’s like ahhhh whenever he plays it!
this one is a common one but I love it so I’m gonna regurgitate it! agustín would bring julieta flowers (and get stung by bees in the process) so he would end up needing to be healed all the time!
at first pepa did not understand what julieta saw in him😭 she could not take him seriously with how clumsy he was! but julieta was like no that’s my dream guy fr!
I feel like julieta and agustíns love is more quiet! They do little pda and generally prefer to keep their romantic gestures private!
agustín offers to help julieta out at her stall! (not the cooking part) just handing out the food! he loves and supports her in any way he can!🫶

This is a fantasy AU "Encanto Empire"
Tumblr media
💙Queen of the Healing💙
Each Madrigal has their own title.
Pepa - Queen of the Skies
Julieta - Queen of Healing
Bruno - King of Time.
Madrigal children: Coming Soon after Bruno
As mentioned, Encanto is an empire, ruled by the Empress, Alma Madrigal.
Each of her children had their own title as King and Queens, and has their own palace.
The Madrigal triplets may have their own palaces, but each are connected by structure and magic.
The Empire includes a lot of other  kingdoms from other royal families, who unlike the Madrigals, practice witchcraft.
The Miracle will be the one to choose which among the Madrigal children will inherit the Empress' throne.
It's a complicated AU that has a lot of details and etc.

Julieta- play the part- so like Julieta pretends to be sick and Agustin helps her get away with it lmao 😁
play the part: [character] pretends to be sick.
Hmm... okay, this may be hard... BUT I'M DETERMINED!!!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It was all Agustín's idea, so Julieta really only wanted to blame him. Since Casita had been rebuilt, the whole family had been better about not putting so much pressure on themselves when it came to using their gifts. Julieta was very proud of her girls, with Isabela expressing herself how she saw fit, and Luisa spending more time for herself and spending less time wrangling donkeys. Mirabel still helped wherever she could, but she spent just a little more time with her Abuela Alma, rebuilding the relationship that they lost so many years before. All was good, except for the fact that old habits do, in fact, die hard and the healer couldn't take her own advice.
She couldn't find it in her heart to say no. To anyone. Broken arm? She’ll whip something up quick. Stubbed toe? Have an arepa. She was working on straightening up after making breakfast when Agustín walked in.
“You’re still in here? Mi amor. Please. You have to stop at some point.” he stepped up behind her as she only just started washing the dishes and wrapped his arms around her waist. His head rested on her shoulder as she spoke, “Let’s go for a walk, hm? It’s a beautiful day out.
Julieta sighed, “Agustín, you know I can’t leave this like this I-”
“Julieta!” Pépa’s voice range through the courtyard.
But before the healer could answer, her husband put his hand over her mouth. “Follow my lead,” he whispered in Julieta’s ear. Agustín loved his cunada, but he wasn’t about to lose time with his wife to her sister. “Casita,” and with just a word, the water stopped flowing into the basin and a small barrier was put up between Julieta and the dirty dishes.
“Agustín Wilmer Rojas Madrigal, what in the-” but she was caught off guard when Agustín’s hand went to her forehead.
“Julieta, I... are you alright?” Pépa walked into the kitchen to see... just what she saw. Her brother-in-law’s hand splayed across her sister’s forehead. “Do you have a fever?”
“No, I-”
“She’s warm, but she doesn’t have a fever,” Agustín interrupted his wife again. He really seemed to have a death wish this day. “I was just about to take her upstairs.” Placing a hand on the small of her back, Agustín essentially dragged his wife toward the door.
“Oh, I was just going to see if you wanted to go to the market with me. But if you aren’t feeling well then you should rest.” Pépa nodded, “Good work, hermano,” she said to Agustín.
He gave Pépa a singular nod before he and Julieta were in the courtyard, but rather than the stairs, he aimed for the back door, leading to the river that flowed behind Casita.
“Okay, first you suggest a walk, then I’m ill, and now we’re headed outside.” she dug her heels into the ground, halting them both. “Tíno, I’m not complaining about spending time with you, but what is your aim here?”
Agustín took her chin between his forefinger and thumb, turning her face up to his and touching his lips to her own. Her eyes fluttered shut, leaning into him, her hands moving on their own accord and coming to rest on his chest. She nearly whimpered when he pulled away, “I just want you to take some time for yourself, mi conejito...” he looked into her eyes, “And for me?” His eyes seemed to sparkle.
Julieta bit her lip and looked back at Casita... then at her husband... then back to Casita...
“Let’s go before they realize we’re out here.”
Agustín laughed as he was dragged away from the house by his wife. There was no question of where Luisa got her strength from. All of their girls for that matter...
If anyone had looked for them, they didn’t know. After all... she was under the weather and resting in bed.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Sorry, this took so long! With work and life and things, it took forever. I hope you like it! I really did struggle with this because I can’t see Julieta pretending to be sick. But Agustín taking the brunt of it and lying for her? Heck yes!
