I’ve been a vegetarian for ethical (and environmental) reasons for two years now, so sometimes I feel like I could go vegan. I’ve been cutting down on dairy, and I’ve been making more vegan meals. I also agree with vegans on more things than disagree with them.

But that said, there are things I disagree with. I don’t think it’s unethical to eat honey, although there are definitely some environmental concerns in that European honeybees push our native pollinators. And I don’t think it’s unethical to eat eggs from backyard hens that are well treated and that aren’t killed after egg production slows

There’s also the fact that … damn, it would be hard. I would have to check labels for everything to see if there’s any animal products

Maybe I will go fully vegan one day, but as my worldview stands right now, I don’t think I will

I have an idea for a weird horror-ish story that might only appeal to me, but I think I’m going to try and write it anyway because I’ve actually been able to write a few scene snippets for it. And this is the first idea I’ve had in around a year I’ve actually been able to write a bit for, so I figure I should pursue it. I’ll probably post the story over on my horror sideblog

The story deals with what I would describe as “meat horror” and is very slightly inspired by other stories in that, uh, theme, like Texas Chainsaw, Fresh, and the novel Under the Skin. Also a little inspiration from Kafka’d The Metamorphosis. Let me know if you’re interested in reading it! I don’t want to foist is on any of my followers over here that aren’t into that sort of thing 😅
