Story behind this song:  Fish found to be always ready for any sacrificial work of the Lord.
For example, God used a great fish to take care of Jonah (Jonah 2:10).
In Matthew 17:27, we see there was a fish that kept a piece of money in its mouth and came up first to be caught to meet the Lord's purpose.
Here in John 21:11, we see the conversation between our Lord Jesus and the disciples. They can hear each other. Meaning they are within (approx. 100m ) audible distance from the shore.
At the Lord's command when they cast their net, they caught 153 great fish. To catch great fish, one must go to very deep into the sea.
Great fish came to the shore to see risen Lord and they area ready for His need. Please note, this incident happened after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and someone counted these great fish as a wonder.
Moreover, there are already some fish used by our Lord, with which He made meal for disciples. He didn't use the fish caught by the disciples.

Easter 3 May 1st 2022
Old Testament: Acts 9:1-22
Psalm: Psalm 30
Epistle: Revelation 5:8-14
Gospel: John 21:1-14 (15-19)
Sermon Text: John 21
Sermon Title: “Feed My Sheep”
Grace to you and peace, from God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
“After this, Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberius … This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after He was raised from the dead”. (John 21:1a, 14) Jesus appears to the disciples after a night of hard work, performs a miracle that He had done before, and then has breakfast with them.
Seven of the disciples were together, (Peter, James. John, Nathanial and Thomas), and even after seeing the risen Christ twice, they seemed confused as to what to do next; so, they did what they knew how to do. Perhaps thinking about making a little money in case this Jesus “thing” doesn’t work out; “Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing. They said to him, we will go with you. They went out into the boat, but that night they caught nothing”. (John 21:3) That would soon change, when they saw the risen Christ.
“Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore, yet the disciples did not (immediately) know that it was Jesus (since they were about 100 yards away). He said to them, children, do you have any fish? They answered Him, no! He said to them, cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So, they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because of the quantity of fish”. (John 21:4-6)
They listened to His instructions, even though they didn’t know that it was Jesus; but once the nets were full of fish, one disciple recognized Him. “The disciple whom Jesus loved (John) said to Peter, It is the Lord! When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. And the other disciples came into the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, but about a hundred yards off”. (John 21:7-8)
If this sounds familiar, it should. In Luke chapter 5, Jesus performed a similar miracle after a night of unsuccessful fishing causing Peter to declare; “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord”. (Luke 5:8b) “And Jesus said to Simon Peter, do not be afraid; from now on, you will be catching men”. (Luke 5:10b) This was near the beginning of Jesus’ ministry.
This time, Jesus makes everything ready for a meal with His disciples. Now, “when they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with some fish laid out on it, and bread. And Jesus said to them; Bring some of the fish you have just caught. So, Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish; 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn”. (John 21:9-11)
“Jesus said to them, come and have breakfast. Now, none of the disciples dared to ask Him; Who are you? For they knew it was the Lord. (They had worked all night, using all their best effort as experienced fisherman, and had caught nothing. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. (Again) This was the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after He was raised from the dead”. (John 21:12-14)
Now, a lot had happened between the first and second miraculous catch of fish. Jesus had been crucified and raised bodily from the dead, for the salvation of the world. Peter, who had given the great confession of Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16), had denied Jesus on the night of His betrayal and arrest. He had seen the risen Jesus now three times, but he was still in need of being reconciled to Christ.
So, “when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter; Simon, son of John, Do you love Me more than these? Peter said to Him; yes Lord, You know that I love You. Jesus said to him; feed My lambs”. (John 21:15) Jesus then asked Peter two more times; “Simon, Son of John, do you love Me”. (John 21:16, 17) This line of questioning disturbed Peter, and “he was grieved because Jesus said to him the third time; Do you love Me”. (John 21:17a) Three times Peter had denied Jesus and now three times, He would be asked by Jesus to affirm his love; “Simon, do you love Me”. (John 21:15, 16, 17)
Seemingly frustrated with Jesus’ questioning, Peter “Said to Him, Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You. Jesus said to him; (again) Feed My sheep”. (John 21:17b) But what does feeding My sheep indicate? It means preaching, teaching (catechesis) and disciplining the sheep of God; calling us/them to daily repentance through the means of grace God has provided; Word, Sacrament, and Confession and Absolution. Jesus paid the ultimate price to win forgiveness for all; so He cares that His sheep are well provided for in the means of grace. In our first reading this morning, Saul too was reconciled to God, so that he might feed God’s sheep through the proclamation of Jesus as “the Son of God … the Christ”. (Acts 9:20b, 22b)
(By the way) Jesus is not bestowing on Peter a special authority in the church; over and above the others. What Peter is here called to do, he holds in common with the rest of the Apostles. Luther adds, “Christ gave the Apostles only spiritual power/authority … to preach the Gospel … administer the sacraments … excommunicate the godless …”. (Martin Luther, Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, par. 30) The church has no authority apart from Christ and His Word and Christ is the One who chooses how to distribute His gifts.
In this three-part restoration, the Lord Jesus restored Peter for future service in the Holy Chirstian Church; but the next words of Jesus, indicate that it would not be easy for Peter. “Truly, truly I say to you; when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands; and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go. This He said (to Peter) to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God”. (John 21:18-19a) Paul too, would glorify God by his martyrdom at the hands of the Roman government.
In a cryptic way, Jesus was referring to Peter’s martyrdom. About 35 years later, Peter would die by crucifixion at the hands of the Roman emperor Nero. Peter, and all but one of the rest of the disciples would also glorify God by their death for preaching the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ. After saying all these things to Peter, after forgiving and restoring him to his calling as an Apostle, “Jesus said to him, Follow Me”. (John 21:19b) Jesus said the same words to Peter at the beginning of His ministry. Peter would later write, “For to this you have been called, because Christ suffered for you; leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps”. (1st Peter 2:21)
In his pride and weakness, Peter had sinned greatly in denying his Lord, even to the point of briefly losing faith in Christ. Yet our Lord prayed for Peter and he repented. This is what God desires for each and every one of us here today. Jesus intercedes for us, calling us to repent daily and receive the forgiveness of sins, no matter in what way we have trespassed His Word/Law. When we fall into any sin, He wants to restore us to a right relationship with Him as well. So, Jesus says to us also, “Follow Me”. (John 21:19b)
For Christ came to this earth for the very purpose of saving sinners like us. Again, Peter wrote, “you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without spot or blemish”. (1st Peter 1:18-19)
He gives us these precious gifts of the forgiveness of sins and eternal life with Christ Jesus, through the means of grace; by which He told Peter to “Feed My sheep/lambs”. (John 21:15, 16, 17) It is Jesus alone who “opens our minds to understand the Scriptures … that everything written about Christ in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, must be fulfilled”. (Luke 24:44-45) Therefore, God’s people gladly hear these words and promises of God; by which He creates and strengthens our faith; and we receive His gracious gifts as often as we are able. Amen.
The peace of God …

A Great Catch: The 153 Fish
“I welcome you on the eve of a great battle.” So began General Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 15, 1944, solemnly addressing the admirals and generals and officers of the Allied Expeditionary Force, announcing the proposed strategy for Operation Overlord, codename for the Normandy invasion. Underestimated as an orator, Eisenhower’s speech riveted the attention of all in the tense atmosphere. The location was an unlikely one: a lecture hall of Saint Paul’s School in London. The boys had already been evacuated to Berkshire during the Blitz. The top brass, who had arrived from the advance command post of the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Forces at Southwick House in Hampshire, were seated on school chairs, with two armchairs occupied by King George VI and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. General Bernard Montgomery, the future Field Marshall, brought out his maps to show the British and American positions. The school served as headquarters of the XXI Army Group under Montgomery, and he felt at home there because he was an Old Pauline. Planning took place in the office of his old Headmaster, or High Master, which was the title used from the day of the school’s foundation in 1509 by John Colet.
As a close friend of Erasmus, and an even closer spiritual advisor to Thomas More, Colet was the epitome of a Renaissance humanist, laden with learning he had brought back from France and Italy for lectures in his own university at Oxford. More lured him back to his birthplace of London where his father had been a rich merchant and twice Lord Mayor. As Dean of Saint Paul’s cathedral, Colet put his reforming principles to work with eloquent imprecations against the pride, concupiscence, covetousness, and worldly absorptions that had tainted the priesthood. Archbishop Warham of Canterbury dismissed frivolous charges of heresy brought against Colet by offended clerics. Colet’s combination of charm and audacity engendered the respect even of Henry VIII, despite his bold preaching against the king’s French wars. As a priest with no children of his own, and no nieces or nephews because all twenty-two of his siblings had died in childhood, Colet devoted much of his inherited fortune to founding Saint Paul’s school for teaching 153 boys literature, manners, and, with Renaissance flair, Greek on a par with Latin. Erasmus said that when Colet lectured he thought he was hearing a second Plato. If so, his Platonism was Christian. He wanted a great catch, similar to the 153 fish that the apostles had hauled in at the command of the Risen Christ. The boys would be welcome “from all nations and countries indifferently.”
The catch was great indeed, and since then the school has turned out graduates including, just for starters: John Milton, Samuel Pepys, John Churchill, G.K. Chesterton, three holders of the Victoria Cross, and the astronomer for whom Halley’s comet is named — all rising from the first 153.
Exegetes, sometimes with too much time on their hands, and even earnest saints, have teased 153 and other numbers into signifying possibly more than their meaning. Jerome tried to find some significance in the fact that the second-century Greco-Roman poet Oppian listed 153 species of fish in his 3,500 verses about fishing, the “Halieutica,” dedicated rather sycophantically to the emperor Marcus Aurelius and his son Commodus. Of course, Oppian was wrong in his counting; besides, he wrote after the compilation of the Gospel. Augustine found that 153 is the sum if the first seventeen integers, which may reveal nothing more than his skill at arithmetic. In his devotion to the Rosary, Louis de Montfort found something prophetic between the catch of Galilean fish and the sum of fifteen decades of Hail Mary’s plus the first three beads.
There may be no end to such agile mental exercises, and I once wrote a book — Coincidentally — rather whimsically illustrating how it is possible to detect endless matrices if you try hard enough. For example, faddish New Age fascination with the esoteric numerology of Kabbalah cultism can strain minds. It may not have been a helpful influence on the popular singer who gave millions of dollars to a Kabbalah institute and recently was confined to a mental health facility purportedly against her will. Carl Jung wrote at some length about what he termed “synchronicity” and warned that an obsession with “acausal principles” could unbalance reason. Yet even a detached observer might pause at the fact that the Sacred Tetragrammaton appears 153 times in Genesis.
The point here is that there are many levels of meaning in divine revelation that may be clues to the operation of Divine Providence. “For I know the plans that I have for you, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope” (Jer. 29:11). Even our limited mathematics may articulate something of the symmetry by which the pulse of Creation may be taken: “‘To whom then will you compare Me, or who is My equal?’ says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, who brings out their host by number” (Is. 40:25). Perception of this saves the saints from madness and inspires them to awe.
Contemplation of the unity of the True God and True Man encounters layers of reality beyond the comprehension of human intelligence. Nonetheless, we can perceive the existence of those dimensions. A “Participatory Anthropic Principle,” first forwarded by John A. Wheeler, suggests that the universe is structured with a set of physical constants or “cosmic coincidences” without which there would be no intelligent life on Earth, and that it is only by participating in that structure by rational perception that the constants or coincidences have their potency. So there may be in those 153 fish the Voice saying: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).
It would be a mistake to suppose that the apostles went back to fishing in disobedience to the Master’s command years before that they drop their nets and follow him. Christ is the Alpha and Omega, meaning that he is able to know everything from start to finish at the same time. Before the Resurrection, Jesus told the apostles that they would meet a man in Jerusalem carrying a pitcher of water, from whom they would rent an Upper Room: “So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them (Luke 22:13).” Thus he was also able to “set up” his men, ordering them to go to the Sea of Tiberius, knowing what he had prepared for them there, in order to instruct them.
In his humanity he did a domestic thing in cooking breakfast. In his divinity he predicted what the apostles would become. Whatever else may be encoded in the number 153, the fact is that this event happened, for had it been an oriental myth there would have been a million fish. This number was a detail never to be forgotten. Even when the youngest of them, the cadet of the Twelve, was the last to survive and his mind was weary with age, he said with a thrill like that of a youth: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life” (1 John 1:1).
There is one thing we know that prevents miniaturizing Christ as the best of men but only a man: “For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (I Col. 16-17). In him was an urgent appeal to the intellect, which for the Jew was a function of love and not confined to the brain, as is clear in the Resurrection appearance to Cleopas and his companion on the Emmaus road: “O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” (Luke 24:25-26). Here was the culmination of his earlier rabbinical catechesis: “‘Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?’ ‘Twelve,’ they replied. ‘And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?’ They answered, ‘Seven.’ He said to them, ‘Do you still not understand?’” (Mark 8: 18–21).
The unseen calculus that fascinated Oppian when counting fish in coastal Cilicia much more amazed William Blake when describing an imagined “Tyger” which certainly was not rampant in London: “What immortal hand or eye / Could frame thy fearful symmetry?” If there is substance to some anthropic principle in the play of numbers, it is found in the fact that after the 153 fish had been dragged to shore, a small fire was burning as Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him. And Peter wept in remembering that by another small fire in Jerusalem he had said three times that he never knew the Man.

Fish Out Of Water (Prologue)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hoseok x Unnamed Member (ft. Fish!Taehyung)
Word Count: 469
Warnings: Only a curse or two i think?
Genre: Mermaid AU, fantasy
Summary: This was supposed to be like a Little Mermaid thing but I ran out of time so all you get for now is the very opening. This is for @moccahobi‘s birthday!! she’s such a great friend and she’s amazing so you should deef check her out! The above image is the list of prompts I was given, True Love will be touched on in the upcoming chapters. The metal thing that hits Hoseok in the head is a Sprite can because how tf do i add that lmao
And a big thank you to @flurrys-creativity and @chemicalpink for helpign me with the idea. I didn’t have a chance to fully write it (yet) but it’s definitely added to my 153 wip list haha!!
“Come on,” Hoseok cajoles his fish friend, “it’ll be fine!”
Despite the mermaid’s whining, the Japanese dragonet in front of him just shakes his head as well. “Hell no, Hobi, you know how dangerous it is above water.”
Hoseok whines even louder, flicking his tail enthusiastically. “But Tae! I don’t want to go alone!”
Taehyung just fixes his friend with as annoyed a look as he can manage. “If you don’t want to go alone then maybe you should rethink why you want to go to the surface. Plus, you can’t breathe above water.”
“Well, I practiced holding my breath,” Hoseok is not giving up. “I’ll go myself!”
Without waiting for his friend’s comments, Hoseok takes off for the surface. It’s not a far trip, as the sunlight is still just barely visible from under the depths, but they’re far out enough that Hoseok has to swim for a while before he can catch sight of anything.
Right before his head breaks the surface, he sucks in a breath. Tae was not lying, it is indeed dangerous to go to the surface, but Hoseok cannot help but contain his curiosity. The surface seems so….unreal.
Hoseok’s head breaks the water, his hair falling in front of his face. The air burns his lungs but he’s happy to look above and see the sun up close. It’s gorgeous up here and Hoseok could stay up there for ages. He can’t stay up any longer without taking another breath, so he dips his head down once more.
Except, this time, when he pops his head back up again, something tough collides with his head. Hoseok’s head whips around, and his eyes meet a young human with wide eyes and a pretty smile. The sun backlights him, highlighting his strands of dark hair, and Hoseok could swear he’s an angel. “Hey, man, are you okay? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you with the can. I didn’t even know you were there.”
All those lessons on the human tongue of their region, all the practicing Hoseok went through at the regional university of linguistics, slips out of his head and all he can muster is a very confused sounding noise. “Wha?” is the closest Hoseok gets to a vaguely understandable word.
The man laughs again and Hoseok can feel both his lungs and his heart burning this time. His ears might join in on the sensation and he ducks under the water again to hide his red cheeks. The man laughs once more, but his voice blurbles and fades as Hoseok hightails it back home.
“How was it?” Taehyung asks without even looking up from his dinner. “Did you meet a fairytale prince or something?”
“I think I’m in love.”
The copepod falls out of his best friend’s mouth. “You what.”

The Call of the Disciples
1 The Call of the Disciples (2–12) The appearance of Chapter 21 clearly shows the state of the calling. The first thing to do is to take fish. Petro says, "I'm going fishing" (verse 3), and everyone gets in the boat. The church and the Primate of Petro are often displayed around here. However, it is not possible to take anything even if it tries all night long. "You can't do anything away from me" (John15; 5)。 When the Lord Jesus comes, it becomes a big catch only by it. This big catch is very stressed. In fact, fish can't be caught after dawn in the morning. Still, if the Lord is with us, it will be a great catch. The number of 153 fish did not actually count there. It seems to be a number that symbolizes the whole world. It is said that it is a great success only if it works only by the disciples in the middle of the night, and it was not able to be taken, and it was able to take one, and the Lord comes, and the net is lowered to one side according to the word of the Lord. No matter how many people and how many different people come together, the network of the church cannot be broken. The net of the big catch which was not able to be done by everyone pulls up as it thinks lightly by Petro alone, and it is up to the number. It seems that the fact that Petro was naked has something to do with that Petro was a sinner who had rejected the Lord first.

Sermon for Third Sunday of Easter (5/1/22)
Primary Text | John 21:1-19
------------------------------------------------------
Dear People of God,
Today’s Gospel lesson recounts the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after being raised from the dead. At this point, the disciples know the Lord lives. He certainly died on that cross. But he has been making himself known to them time after time. Of all things, the disciples decide to go fishing. Considering the circumstances, what an ordinary thing to do. Go fishing. A few weeks ago, a man rose from the dead. The resurrection has changed the course of history—God has made his big move to bring a world back to him that was lost. Three weeks in, Simon Peter’s like, “Welp, let’s go fishin’!” And so the disciples do. And that night they catch nothing. Then a man called out to them from the shore and told them to pitch their net one more time at the right side of the boat. They counted 153 large fish. At that point is when they began to recognize that it was not just any man standing at the shore, it was the Lord. When they pulled up to shore, the smell of charcoal fire was in the air. And Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” For the meal they used some of the fish they caught and there was bread. What I like at this point is when the scriptures say, “Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you” because they knew it was the Lord (John 21:12).
One thing I learned from my supervisor when I was an intern pastor in Nebraska was how to understand the Gospel of John. Previously, I had thought it was a book of the Bible that really showcased that Jesus is God. Now, certainly Jesus is God. He was not created, he was begotten in eternity. What I learned from my supervisor was that the Gospel of John profoundly showcases that Jesus is a human being. As our Lutheran confessional heritage puts it, “Next to the article of the Holy Trinity this is the greatest mystery in heaven and on earth, as Paul says, ‘Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great, that God was revealed in flesh’” (1 Tim. 3[:16]) (FC, SD 8:33). God revealed in flesh. The Gospel of John shows that Jesus, who is no doubt God, is also no doubt a human being. He shows it in this manner when he says, “Come, now. Have breakfast.” What an ordinary thing for Jesus to do. Three weeks ago he rose from the dead. Through his death and resurrection, history has been changed forever in God’s divine providence. But here this morning we have the Lord doing something simple. Eating breakfast with his dear people. When scripture talks about the disciples, I want you also to know that scripture is talking to you. You are his dear people. He is your Lord too.
Here is why God became a human being and why in his human body he died and rose from the dead: It is impossible for a human being to know who God is in some generic sense. God in his majesty and glory is indecipherable. He is beyond our capacity to comprehend. We cannot figure it out. If we tried to peer with our eyes onto God in and of himself we are told, we will die. So God does not allow us to see God in his naked majesty. We must know him in some other way if we are to see him and live. For us he must wear some clothing. And that is why Jesus is necessary for our faith and cannot be dismissed—as so many do dismiss him. God clothed himself in the human body of Jesus Christ. In wearing this particular set of clothes, God speaks to us in a way that we can understand—as our sibling, as our brother. If you wish to know who God is, what he is like, what he thinks of you, and what he has done for you, look for him nowhere else than this man Jesus Christ. It is Christ alone who shed his blood for you. In him, God gives you his grace, his divine favor. In him, you are made holy, you are a new creation. In him, you may let go of whatever burdens you, whatever weighs you down. He will hold your struggles for you. He will hold you in his arms.
You are not loved because you are lovely. You are lovely because you are loved. He came down from heaven for you and for your salvation. His joy is your joy. Go fishing. Have breakfast. The One who is both God and a human being, the risen Lord Jesus Christ, is with you in all things. He stand with you in everything you go through.

One can drink this cleansing tonic before breakfast to reap honey ’s amazing health benefits . Garlic Garlic ’s scent tips you off to its many health benefits . The pungent aroma comes from sulphur compounds , including allicin . Scientists believe that allicin may block enzymes involved in infections; some studies suggest that swallowing garlic may ward off colds . Garlic can be cooked with other foods , although some people can stomach eating a bit like a pill , followed by milk or water . Research has also linked garlic intake to a lower risk of stomach , colon and oesophagus cancers . For a flavour and immunity boost, add garlic to marinades , roasted vegetables or grain bowls. Grapefruit Half a grapefruit has more than 60 per cent of your daily vitamin C content , and eating grapefruit may also help the body absorb other essential nutrients , such as iron. People who regularly consume foods containing vitamin C may have slightly shorter colds or milder symptoms. For a healthy morning treat , broil grapefruit with a little cinnamon sugar. Ginger Ginger , which is sometimes recommended to treat nausea , is high in both antioxidants and anti -inflammatory properties. A recent review of 60 studies found that ginger might have beneficial effects on ailments like obesity , heart disease and diabetes . It also contains immune -system -supporting compounds like beta- carotene and capsaicin . You can toss freshly ground ginger into a tofu stir- fry or sip it in your tea . Lemon 🍋  Lemons are high in compounds called bioflavonoids , which kill cancer-causing free radicals . They also provide vitamin C ( you can meet half your daily requirement from one fruit) , so adding lemon juice to your meals is an easy strategy for protecting yourself against colds and other infections. One simple way to work in a daily dose of vitamin C is to drink lemon water , either chilled or warm . A squeeze of lemon also makes steamed veggies tastier. Apple 🍏  People who eat an apple a day use fewer prescription medications , according to a 2015 study. And regular apple eaters report fewer asthma symptoms, according to research conducted by a group of researchers in the United Kingdom. Apples are also high in fibre , which can help reduce the inflammation common during infections. They are also a superfood when it comes to satiety. To turn apples into a more energising snack , slice one up and enjoy with a spoonful of peanut or almond butter . Buy organic or wash well before eating : a recent study found that a little water and baking soda remove pesticide residue from the fruit . Chicken soup 🐔 Chicken soup helps soothe cold symptoms, likely because the warm broth can thin nasal mucus so it can clear more easily . Soup in general hydrates, making it a smart meal pick when you’ re sick . If you want, you can spice up your chicken soup with nutrient -dense foods like carrots , onions and fresh herbs . Additionally , foods high in protein , such as lean meats and poultry , are high in zinc – a mineral that increases the production of white blood cells and T -cells, which fight infection . Other great sources of zinc are oysters , nuts , fortified cereal , and beans . Mushroom 🍄  Mushrooms may be a potent weapon in warding off colds, flu , and other infections. Studies done on fresh mushrooms , dried mushrooms , and extracts have shown that mushrooms such as shiitake, maitake , and reishi have antiviral, antibacterial , and anti -tumour effects . Berries Berries are rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids , phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables that may work as antioxidants and prevent injury to cells. One cup of strawberries contains as much as 100 mg of Vitamin C , which is nearly as much as a cup of orange juice . Dark berries such as blueberries are especially high in bioflavonoids . For an optimal immune system boosting effect, eat a bowl of mixed berries , or vary which berries you choose from day to day , rather than eating only one type. Fish 🐠  Fish are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and other healthy fats which help increase the activity of white blood cells. These Omega 3 s may also play an important role in the production of compounds that regulate immunity in the body and help protect the body from damage from overreacting to infections. The best way to get the omega 3 fatty acids – DHA ( docosahexaenoic acid ) and EPA ( eicosapentaenoic acid )– is by eating fatty fish such as tuna, salmon , and mackerel. You can also get this omega 3 s through krill oil capsules or algae supplements . Other sources of the omega 3 fatty acid ALA ( alpha -linolenic acid ) are flax seeds , flax oil , chia seeds, hemp seeds, and walnuts . Meanwhile, one thing to keep in mind when choosing fish is that pregnant women and young children should avoid high mercury fishes like king mackerel , tilefish , shark , and swordfish. Five additional tips to boost immune system Although eating the above foods does not mean you may not get sick , medical experts have said taking the steps could dramatically strengthen the immune system and improve your overall health . Apart from food, there are other activities that can help boost the immune system these crucial these times. Don ’ t smoke Smokers have an increased risk of catching infections and suffering severe complications from them . Smoking damages the lungs and people with unhealthy lungs have been said to have a high risk of contracting coronavirus and other infections . Smoking is also the major cause of lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Hence, you might want to desist from smoking , especially at this period of increased health risk . Get adequate sleep Sleep is important for health in general, and as a bonus, it may also benefit our immune function . For instance , a study showed that those with insomnia had , on average, less immune response to the influenza vaccine, while another study in twins showed those with worse sleep had altered expression of genes related to immune function . In another study, 153 volunteers were inoculated with the rhinovirus ( the virus that can cause the common cold ) . It was found that those who slept less than seven hours were three times more likely to develop symptoms than those who slept more than eight hours . Again , the science in this area may not be robust , but when it comes to overall health, proper sleep helps. In times like these , you should prioritise sleep hygiene. If you ’re isolated at home , that likely means more time on electronics like tablets , phones , and TVs . This may be a good time to invest in blue -light blocking glasses and to look for non -tech related activities to do in the evening , like puzzles, crosswords, or reading an actual book ( not an ebook !) . The right amount of exercise Observational studies show that those who exercise tend to suffer fewer infections than those who do not. While those studies have confounding variables , the general consensus is that overall exercise is likely beneficial. Stay active , but remember that now is not the time to start a new high-intensity exercise routine. If you already enjoy strenuous exercise , consider decreasing the frequency or intensity by 10 -20 per cent ( this is not scientifically backed but it ’s recommended by some experts) . Also, try to focus on home or outside exercise . Shared gym equipment , like weights and cardio machines, may be surfaces that transmit the virus. Stress management While acute stressors may temporarily enhance immune functions , chronic stressors can likely diminish immune function . Worrying about job loss , financial markets and debts, or focusing on the uncertainties of the future can raise cortisol levels , which may negatively impact on immune function . While we can ’ t make this stressful situation disappear, we can all take measures to control our response to stress. Meditation , mindfulness exercise , and getting outside and going for walks are all examples of activities that can potentially lower blood pressure , blood sugar , and make your days much more pleasant. Drink alcohol in moderation In times of stress, some people turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism . While meditation, nature walks , and mindfulness exercises are likely healthier ways of coping , for some , they aren ’ t enough, and alcohol adds a little something extra for them . However, studies show a relationship between chronic heavy alcohol consumption and increased susceptibility to infections. Perhaps most pertinent for the discussion about COVID -19 , some of these studies showed an increased risk among heavy drinkers of acute respiratory distress syndrome , the lung complication responsible for most of the COVID -19 related deaths. Hence, now is the time to limit your alcohol intake , with some medical experts suggesting two drinks for men and one drink for women per day .   Sources : time .com , verywellfamily .com , heartfoundation. org. nz , dietdoctor .com , goodhousekeeping . com, food .ndtv . com Read the full article

Tumblr media
I hadn’t realized that Ugmonk I love fishing with the best catch of my life shirt . did not have a dedicated women’s collection until I saw Jeff ‘s Twitter post a few days ago, announcing the line drop. It is true that the t-shirt were already so cool that your girlfriend might have already stolen yours and worn it hundreds of times. But now, you will no longer be forced to share your Ugmonk apparel because on Wednesday, the Women’s line was launched! Needless to say, it did not disappoint. There are 10 different t-shirts with with 2 fits and 3 types of fabrics. The are larger in cut than the previous ones which I understand ran very small. His Voice Changes Everything
Tumblr media
But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. So Jesus said to them, "Children, you do not have any fish, do you?" They answered Him, "No." And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish. John 21:4-7
Have you ever felt unproductive?  Have you ever seemed to be stuck in a season where even though you did what you knew how to do, you still came up empty-handed.  Personally, I’ve gone through one of those seasons where it seemed like regardless of what I did, who I networked with, or even the new risks I took, I still couldn’t produce results.
In this pericope of scripture, we find a very important moment that helps us to understand what needs to happen in those moments and seasons where we feel unproductive.  A few days after the resurrection Jesus decides to surprise a few of his disciples who have been fishing all night on the sea of Tiberias.  Unproductive, having caught nothing they decided to make their way back to shore.  As they were approaching the shore they noticed someone yelling at them. Unbeknownst to them, Jesus was standing on the shore asking if they had caught any fish.  When they responded no, Jesus said, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”
In our seasons of being unfruitful, unproductive, and coming up empty-handed, I believe this is actually an invitation to press in our prayer time to ask the Holy Spirit where we need to specifically throw our nets.  There’s never any substitute for taking massive action to see results.  However, the resurrection of Jesus teaches us a more productive way, a more strategic way.  The resurrected Jesus told them specifically, “Cast the net on the right side…”. Paul reminds us in Romans 8:11 that the same resurrection power that rose Jesus from the dead is now at work in us.  Being unproductive is not an invitation to cast your bread on many waters.  Rather, it is an invitation to sense (see in prayer) where God wants you to specifically cast your net.
Notice, that as soon as they listened to Jesus, they went from 0 fish to 153 fish.  That’s a 153% return on a 0 investment just because they listened to the voice of the Lord.  Let me encourage you in this season of unproductivity;  Ask the Holy Spirit for specific instruction.  Ask Him where you are supposed to cast your net.  Perhaps you don’t know where you should work next.  Don’t start applying to just any and everything, ask Him for specific instruction.  Perhaps you’re business in beyond slow.  Don’t keep looking for leads in the same places only to come up empty handed again.  Rather ask the Holy Spirit to show you exactly where to get a bunch of new and qualified leads.  His voice changes everything!  He knows exactly where you will be most productive.  Press in, hear, obey, and be productive beyond what you could ever imagined!

Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (From an Amateur)
As week two of the NFL came and went, one thing is certain: anything can happen. The Texans are dominating, Green Bay looks like they did in the mid 1990's, and Cleveland scored 51 points....in a single game. This craziness makes the power rankings a bit more challenging, but what the heck: we'll do them anyway.
Week Two:
1. New England Patriots (2-0) (Previous rank: 2): Cheating scandal aside, there's no arguing that the Pats looked like champs against a far outplayed Chargers team. Not only was their offense unstoppable, but their defense held LaDainian Tomlinson to 43 rushing yards. New England is the team to beat. These guys are hungry.
2. Indianapolis Colts (2-0) (Previous rank: 1): Sure, it was a win, but the Colts didn't exactly dominate, winning by two in a game that went down to the final moments. As Tennessee (a team that, for whatever reason, always seems to give Indianapolis a run for their money) looked to come from behind, Indy relied on their defense. In a meeting that saw one of Adam Vinatari's field goals get partially blocked, bounce off the crossbar, and still go in, we can't help but think gravity is on the side of these defending champs.
3. Dallas Cowboys (2-0) (Previous rank: 4): For a while, the 37-20 Dallas victory looked to be anyone's game, but by the time the fourth quarter was in full swing, the Cowboys were galloping into the sunset. Their offense was solid but this game belonged to their defense. With five takeaways, Wade Phillips - the defensive coordinator turned head coach (a couple of times) - should be proud. Right now, this team is the stallion of the NFC.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) (Previous rank: 7): The only truly ugly thing about Pittsburgh's play was their uniforms (sorry, but I'm anti-yellow). Ben Roethlisberger had another solid outing and Willie Parker rushed for 126 yards. Outplaying an emotionally exhausted Bills team, the Steeler's defense held their opponents to three points. They just may be back to their 2005 selves.
5. Denver Broncos (2-0) (Previous rank: 5): As Denver Bronco fans everywhere find themselves with ulcers, they can't help but wonder if any games will not be decided by a last second field goal. In a contest that Denver looked to have put away, Oakland came from behind to make another exciting ending. No one can say that the Broncos are boring, but if Denver is going to have a good season, they have to learn to hold onto their leads....or buy Prilosec for all of their fans.
6. San Diego (1-1) (Previous rank: 3): It's hard to go on the road and it's hard to play anything - yes even a game of "I Spy" - against Bill Belichick, but the Chargers didn't just lose, they lost bad. Virtually destroyed by New England, this team looked a lot different than last year. Not only did their star running back run into a wall, but Phillip Rivers played like a rookie quarterback. Their offense couldn't get started, and their defense couldn't stop anything. Is it too soon to say they miss Marty Schottenheimer?
7. Chicago Bears (1-1) (Previous rank: 9): The first victory of Chicago's season belongs to their special teams: Devin Hester is the new Dante Hall. The Bear's defense looked solid as usual, limiting the Chiefs to only ten points. How they played on the other side of the ball, however, is another story. Though they doubled the Chief's score, Chicago still needs some work. Their passing game has got to do something about doing nothing.
8. Baltimore Ravens (1-1) (Previous rank: 11): For a while, it looked as though the New York Jets were gaining ground on Baltimore. But, we all know what matters in the end is the score: Ravens 20, Jets unable to take off. Still, if Baltimore wants to continue to jell, they are going to have to make sure last minute comebacks from their opponents are "never more."
9. Green Bay Packers (2-0) (Previous rank: 14): Is it just me, or is it nice to see Brett Favre actually having fun again? As he climbed into the record books as the winningest quarterback in NFL history, number 4 led his team over a poor New York Giants defense. Winning on the road is a big win for Favre and company. They are now 2-0, somewhere they haven't been in, count 'em, six years.
10. Houston Texans (2-0) (Previous rank: 15): The playoffs are a long time away, but Houston has a reason to get excited. Plainly put, this team looks good. After an opening win against the Chiefs, the Texans came from behind on the road to destroy Carolina. At 2-0, these players are performing like they have something to prove. And, so far, they're proving it.
11. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) (Previous rank: 8): Who would have thought Carson Palmer could throw for six touchdowns and the Bengals would still lose? Well, that's exactly what happened. In a game that was all about offense, the Bengals proved they could deliver. Their defense, on the other hand, was pathetic. Browns fans poured beer on Chad Johnson and Browns players poured points onto the scoreboard. Cleveland, yes Cleveland, scored 51 points against a less than ferocious Bengals D.
12. Carolina Panthers (1-1) (Previous rank: 6): Everyone said that the Houston Texans wouldn't be able to stop Steve Smith and they weren't. But, oddly enough, that didn't matter. Smith had 153 yards and three touchdowns, but the only Carolina fans happy in the end were the ones with him on their fantasy team. Carolina can't lose these kinds of games at home if they want to be contenders.
13. Seattle Seahawks (1-1) (Previous rank: 10): In the battle of the birds, the Cardinals flew higher than the Seahawks, winning by a three point margin. Seattle did battle back from a 17-0 deficit, which says something. Still, in the end, they fumbled away their chances at victory. This loss is going to sting for a while.
14. Tennessee Titans (1-1) (Previous rank: 16): Vince Young and company shouldn't hang their heads too low: they were colt, er, close. It began to look as though they were going to pull it off, but alas, they were dealt a two point loss. Still, this Titans team is solid. Here's to them having one heck of a year. If they can keep it up, they will find themselves in the playoffs.
15. San Francisco (2-0) (Previous rank: 17): The St. Louis Rams may have outplayed the 49ers, but all that matters in the end is the final score. Squeaking by with a 17-16 victory, San Francisco doesn't care how they win, as long as they do. Our hearts go out to Frank Gore, a man who performed well despite the recent loss of his mother.
16. Washington Redskins (2-0) (Previous rank: 19): Don't look now, but the Redskins are, dare I say, undefeated. After beating the Eagles 20-12, Washington is ready to be a factor in the NFC East. In a game that saw great plays on both offense and defense, the Redskins look like they could leave a lot of teams blue this season.
17. Detroit Lions (2-0) (Previous rank: 24): A Lions versus Vikings game would normally seem about as exciting as a Pee Wee football contest, but this year is different; this year, the Lions - yes I'm saying it - are kind of exciting. Despite a game marked by turnovers, and a concussion that sent John Kitna to the sidelines, Detroit prevailed in overtime. Is anyone else predicting a Lions/Texans Super Bowl?
18. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) (Previous rank: 20): After a season opener left them embarrassed, the Jaguars sacked their way to redemption. Recording seven sacks against the atlanta falcons, Jacksonville stuck to what they know best: playing defense. The Jaguar's offense played well enough to get the job done. A decent offense and a stellar defense is how Jacksonville will win games.
19. New Orleans Saints (0-2) (Previous rank: 12): In light of Mother Nature's recent acts, it's hard not to like the Saints. Still, we, like most of America, are beginning to believe that last year was what many people deemed it: a fairy tale season. This time around, they are rooted in reality. But, don't hand them their marching papers just yet. They could still turn it around; the talent is there.
20. Philadelphia Eagles (0-2) (Previous rank: 13): Okay Eagle fans, it might be time to start panicking. Losing to Green Bay on the road was one thing; losing to Washington at home was totally different. McNabb looks McBadd. If they lose to Detroit, they'll find themselves in a hole they can't fly out of.
21. Minnesota Vikings (1-1) (Previous rank: 18): The Vikings own the Lions no more. In a game marked by seven interceptions, the Vikings defense performed well, making up for a horrible offense. Not many teams will win when the offense keeps giving chances away.
22. Arizona Cardinals (1-1) (Previous rank: 23): Edgerrin James and Matt Leinart both had huge games as the Cardinals won off the foot of Neil Rackers. It was a dramatic win, but one that showed Arizona is still capable of blowing large leads. They need to learn to go in for the kill shot.
23. Cleveland Browns (1-1) (Previous rank: 32): Wow, who knew the Browns were capable of this kind of offense. In what was Derek Anderson's best Peyton Manning impression, the Cleveland quarterback threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns. The offense looked great but the defense, as Cincinnati was right on their tails with 45 points, could still use some work.
24. Tampa Bay (1-1) (Previous rank: 29): Joey Galloway made his fantasy owners proud on Sunday, catching for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Still, he might want to keep the showboating to a minimum, at least until Tampa Bay is above .500.
25. New York Giants (0-2) (Previous rank: 22): The Giants committed less than brilliant mistakes and played defense with more holes than a fishing net. So far, it really looks like there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Eli and the gang.
26. Miami Dolphins (0-2) (Previous rank: 21): Are the fins finished? Well, not yet, but they have to start performing better. In a game that saw a bad running game and Trent Green throw four interceptions, Miami nearly had no chance. Green's ability to find Chris Chambers is hopeful, but he needs to start finding him in the end zone.
27. Oakland Raiders (0-2) (Previous rank: 30): Well, they gave it a good try. In what may someday be known as the "Time Out Game," Oakland rushed their kicker in overtime only to find out that the game wasn't actually over. After the Raiders missed a 52 yarder, Denver regained control and went on to victory. Still, you have to hand it to Oakland: they refused to die at Mile High.
28. Atlanta Falcons (0-2) (Previous rank: 28): Joey Harrington doesn't have a chance if his offensive line doesn't protect him. With a quarterback unable to run like Vick, atlanta falcons is going to have to learn to block. On the Brightside, the Falcons were in this one till the end.
29. New York Jets (0-2) (Previous rank: 25): At 0 and 2, it's starting to look like last year was a fluke for the Jets. They did play well in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. Here's to hoping "Man Genius" has something up his sleeve or else this season is going to smart.
30. St. Louis Rams (0-2) (Previous rank: 27): Good teams find a way to win games they should lose, and bad teams find a way to lose games they should win. For Rams fans, their team is in the latter category. Despite outplaying the 49ers, St. Louis couldn't arch their way to victory. They have to stop making mistakes if they are going to have a chance.
31. Buffalo Bills (0-2) (Previous rank: 26): We feel for the Bills, players who have been on an emotional roller coaster all week long. We feel for them, but we still have to say this isn't their year. After being robbed by Denver, they were steam rolled by the Steelers. Their defense is doing well in the red zone, but the same can't be said for their offense.
32. Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) (Previous rank: 31): While their defense began to show signs of life, their offense and their special teams just can't get anything going. If something doesn't start to happen, the Chiefs might find themselves wanting to stick their arrowheads in the oven. It's going to be a long, long season.
