totally reasonable development to the American Dream plan, don't even sweat it
(and the 24+ sentences i owe to the pollers)
Toshinori bounces on his heels, feeling lighter than air with the anticipation of tonight’s activities buzzing along his nerves. He’s dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans, and the sneakers Gran Torino had bought specifically for their high-quality rubber soles.
And speaking of, Gran Torino should be up on the roofs somewhere…
The front door to the Midoriya apartment opens, and Izuku slips out after a hasty farewell to his mother, which is paired with a lackluster promise to stay safe. Toshinori manages a single jaunty wave before Izuku shuts it, and then his attention is turned to give Izuku’s outfit a critical once-over.
“You don’t have any other shoes?” Toshinori asks, contemplating the red hue of his successor’s sneakers. The rest of the clothes are appropriately sturdy and dark in palette.
“No? Sorry…”
“Eh, it should be fine. There shouldn’t be a lot of traffic up top anyway. Come on, let’s move!”
They make their way to the stairs, but to Izuku’s obvious confusion, Toshinori leads them further up.
“Yagi-san, you said that this was going to be a special Basic Physical Fitness Training session,” the kid says. “Can I ask… who thought of it? You, or Gran Torino?”
“Oh, this is totally my idea,” says Toshinori breezily. “I know the beach clean-up is the ultimate goal, and it’ll stay as your focus before high school, but I realized today that there are some experiences that you just can’t replicate as a holder of One for All! Experiences that even our Quirkless bodies can manage!”
They head higher. Izuku gets more nervous, but gamely follows Toshinori up the fire safety ladder.
On the roof, Gran Torino greets them with a curt, “Boys. This is the stupidest thing I can imagine for you two to do, in the stupidest place possible.” He’s sitting on the ledge, and as Toshinori requested, two lengths of steel pipes are leaned up next to him.
“Musutafu’s perfectly safe,” Toshinori counters. “And with you here, Gran Torino, there’s minimal risk of, well...”
“Falling to your deaths?”
Izuku squeaks. He quivers beside Toshinori, and when Toshinori glances down, Izuku is staring at the pipes, aghast. “What are we doing, Yagi-san?”
“We,” Toshinori says with great dignity, “are training in the great art of parkour. The pipes are insurance for safety, supposing we see real trouble that a pro-hero won’t get to in time.”
“Legally speaking, vigilantism,” Gran Torino interrupts.
“But we’re not going to get caught.”
“Which makes you juvenile delinquents.”
“Gran Torino,” Toshinori complains, feeling delightfully young and unburdened now that he’s gotten accustomed to Torino’s incredible, mellowed-out approach to training Izuku. What trauma? What spars? Toshinori at fifteen didn’t know anything about that, and Gran Torino at his current age looked nothing like the pro-hero who haunted the end of his high school career!
“I’m enabling you, aren’t I?” the old man shoots back. “Don’t I get to express my own opinions?”
“Is it really safe, though?” Izuku asks.
“Of course!” Toshinori picks up a pipe, hefts it, and tosses it over to Izuku, who catches it while wearing a thoroughly beleaguered expression. Then he grabs the other. “Listen, Midoriya-kun. If it’s really going to be a year until you get One for All, then the American Dream plan can afford to be a little flexible! You want to be a U.A. student, right?!”
“R-right!”
“Then we can’t just train your body!” he cries, lifting the pipe like a torch. “We’ve gotta train your willingness to get into a scrap!”
A little more wobbly, Izuku repeats, “R-right!” And because his successor is more polite, Izuku turns to Gran Torino and executes a little bow, adding, “Thank you for letting us do this, Gran Torino! And for keeping an eye on us!”
Torino sighs.

You'll See it When You Believe
you'll see it when you believe (what you need) by ezrawrites
Midoriya Hisashi had not planned to watch any of the UA Sports Festival at all originally. His idea of relaxation on his Saturday off was to join his coworkers for craft beers and to watch football — it had grown on him.
Then the stupid bar had been playing it.
And then his stupid coworkers had insisted on watching it, because ‘you're from Japan, Hisashi; we should do things from your culture, too!’
And then his stupid brat had to appear on screen. He looked just like a perfect copy of himself and Inko in fact — he looked just like Hisashi himself if Hisashi was missing the scales coating the sides of his neck and peppered on his jawline and over his body, and had Inko's coloring and slightly softer cheeks, but that was likely baby fat, because somewhere along the way... Hisashi's only son had gotten strong, far more muscular than should have ever been possible. He kept up with the Quirked kids easily, knocked Katsuki (for it could only be Katsuki, looking like a carbon copy of Mitsuki) bloody with a single blow.

summary: all the top 3 students from the sports festival are required to open the socialization night for the school festival
warning: mild cursing
word count: 2661
chapters: i , ii , iv , v , vi
iii
You joined the girls in Hagakure's room, they were all so excited to show you what they got for themselves. They filled you in with the stories that happened earlier that day while they were shopping. It was also nice that they got you those sweets you loved and couldn't get since the convenience store just by the school wasn't selling them.
"Let me see!" You urged Mina to let you peek in her shopping bag. Your best friend reached out to grab a stick of Pocky from your hands and grinned mischievously, "Come on. Show me. I want to know what you're gonna be wearing."
You huffed when she refused. "What about you Momo? What color will you and Iida wear for the opening?" You sprawled on your spot on Hagakure's floor and turned to the others.
Momo pulled out a long white gown that looked so expensive to even look at. "My mother will be shipping her pearls for that night. Iida and I decided to wear white."
"Ah! Yao-momo!" Hagakure squealed, "You will look so beautiful!" She pulled out her own dress, which was a black one. It was shorter than Momo's but you were all sure she'll be able to pull off. "Are you and Tokoyami wearing black?"
"Yes, we decided since it will also look best with Dark Shadow." Of course, they both took Dark Shadow into consideration, the two were sweet and thoughtful people.
You put a stick of chocolate biscuit between your lips and grinned at Ochako, "Let me guess, you and Todoroki will wear blue?" You lifted your body from the floor and grinned, "I have a feeling you'd want to wear green instead."
The girls giggled.
"Don't worry Ochako, we'll take care of Midoriya for you." Jiro laughed. She bought a black dress too and she expressed the idea that she will be wearing her sneakers with it so she'll be comfortable the entire night.
Ochako blushed red. You and the girls know of the gravity girl's fondness for Izuku Midoriya, it was cute to see her try and deny it.
"You've got it all wrong! We're friends!" The more she denied it, the more she turned into a deep shade of red, and the more everyone poked fun at her.
Tsuyu turned to you, "What about you and Bakugo, kero?"
"Oh yes, did his mother's assistant manage to get in the school?" Momo asked while folding her dress and putting it away.
You nodded then added, "Well, she came over too."
Mina gasped and at the top of her lungs, "Eh? You met Bakugo's mom?" You had to cover her mouth to prevent her from waking up everybody in the dorm. She moved away from your grasp and smirked, "You're now meeting his parents? That's quite the improvement!"
The others sent you a teasing smile and you bit the biscuit, pouting ever so slightly. "She was just really curious about who'll be dancing with her son."
"Does she know you and Bakugo want to kill each other on a daily basis?" Jiro grinned and laughed loudly when you threw her a look, "What? It's true! You have your daily bickering! Iida gets so worked up about it every single time."
You took another piece, "Well, I told her about that. She said he's stubborn."
"Stubborn? He's a walking time bomb." The pink girl said right after. As exaggerated as it may be, she was right. "That only you and Kiri can tolerate."
You nudged Mina, "Hey, you're friends with the guy too."
"Okay okay! I can tolerate him too but not the way you and Kirishima can." Your friend held up two hands in mock surrender.
"She's right, kero."
Ochako recovered from her blush and smiled, "Well, maybe it's the quirk. You have the water quirk." You raised an eyebrow, confused at what she's hinting at, "Water diffuses fire."
"That and you have the energy to talk back to him every single day." Momo pointed out. "I'm thinking you enjoy bickering with him."
You do.
"And he does seem to enjoy it too," Jiro added.
Does he?
"He was acting quite a bit out of character the past few days though." Momo looked around the room and saw that they nodded their heads. When she looked at you, you raised an eyebrow, "Well of course you won't notice." She leaned on the bedframe, "He's been acting kind towards you."
"I can confirm. He did make you that soup." Mina added. This was apparently new information and the girls urged her to go on, "Remember when L/N won't even look at Bakugo? Well, that afternoon, we were studying and Bakugo exploded..."
"As usual." Jiro interrupted.
Mina laughed before continuing, "So L/N left. I went after her and bless her sweet heart, she made us reviewers. I brought them downstairs and handed them over to the boys. You should have seen how guilty Bakugo looked like!"
"Well, he does care for his friends..." Ochako stopped. She contemplated first before adding, "In his own angry way. He does care about L/N too. Did you guys see the energy bar incident?"
You huffed. You honestly did not want to assume anything about it since Bakugo did show his softer side within your circle of friends. In fact, you only started the study group because he was concerned that Kaminari and Mina are failing. He constantly gave encouragement towards Kirishima and Sero, whom he knew could do better especially if they take things seriously.
And for you? Well, he...
"Earth to L/N, hello?" Mina was shaking you awake, "We're asking you if you like Bakugo."
"I...yes."
It was only meant to tease you, to make you blush. They did not expect you to say that. Even you didn't expect you to say that but for some reason, it felt like the honest answer.
"I... I like..." What? How he always seems to work so hard even when people see him as incredibly talented, and powerful? How he wants to be number one and how he ignores the way the media doubted that he would not join the League of Villains? How confident he is about himself? How he always seems to have the highest standards for him and for the people he...tolerates?
"You like Bakugo?" Mina repeated, shaking you out of your head. "Tell us again!"
"I like him."
Momo sent you a knowing look, "Well, there is a thin line between hate and love so while arguing with him, you may have developed a soft spot for him." She and the other girls started giggling, imagining the days when you spent time arguing with Bakugo. "To be fair, you can stand your ground against him so if there is any chance for him to even remotely be in a relationship, it could work with you."
You huffed again, irritated that the girls were teasing you and you can't say anything back. The truth was dawning on you, slowly but surely.
"I can see it." Jiro nodded, "Imagine a romantic Bakugo."
Mina laughed at that, "Pfft, that boy doesn't have a romantic bone in his body. I feel like he'd just turn it down a bit but still be that angry pomeranian that he always is."
"That is true but who knows?" Ochako took your hands in hers, "It is sweet that you do like him, L/N."
You sighed, accepting your fate. You didn't have the heart to tease back Ochako or any of the girls because they seemed supportive of you and your budding feelings. You don't know how much you like Bakugo, you weren't sure about why you liked the blond, and you weren't sure what to do with these feelings.
Maybe you'll figure it out soon.
Hopefully the boy doesn't.
It was the last day of dance practice for the week and you were glad that the weekend is coming. With classes, dance practices, and costume making, you felt so drained. It isn't as bad as whenever you use your quirk but it was exhausting nonetheless. You took a step back from Bakugo's touch before yawning and stretching.
Bakugo rolled his eyes at you, "If you sleep early and exercise regularly, you wouldn't be so damn tired all the time, extra." He shoved his hands in his pockets, "You have such a bad sleeping schedule."
"We can't all be perfect just like you are." You walked off to your bags by the corner of the gym.
"Tch, you're finally making sense, dumbass." He was following closely behind you since his bag was always near yours. Then he yelled at you, realizing what you meant, "Is that fucking sarcasm?"
"No." You suppressed an urge to laugh.
He growled, bending down to take his bag from the floor. "Idiot."
"Hey, I wasn't the one who took sarcasm as a compliment." You took your own bag from the floor. The dorm wasn't too far but you wanted to walk alone with Bakugo for a while. You found yourself wishing to spend more time with the blasted boy this week after realizing that you were actually into him.
You haven't stopped arguing with him but you found yourself admiring him whenever you have downtimes. He seems more...built than when he first entered the school, was it because of all the training? The girls always seemed to watch you this week too, they were all so obvious that you were almost scared that the guys will discover this secret.
The silence between you and Bakugo died as soon as you got near your dormitory. At least your friends were all still awake, you can clear your head with them. Before you can even step on the threshold of the dorm, your stomach let out a loud sound of help.
Bakugo, who was already about to open the door, paused and looked at you over his shoulder. "Was that..."
"Yeah, that's me. You got a problem with that, blasty?" You growled, moving past him and opening the door yourself. Some of your classmates were still in the common area, watching a movie. You heard Bakugo laughing and you had to stop yourself from turning back to see his laughing face. Honestly, you just wanted to change and get something to eat for dinner.
Although your class restocked the kitchen so you can make your own meals whenever you want to, you still kept cup noodles in your own room. Mostly because you often stay up late and get hungry every single time. Cup noodles are always so efficient and of course, incredibly delicious. Besides, you don't need to wash a bowl after eating. You can just throw it out. It was perfect.
"How was practice, mermaid?" Denki looked at you from his position on the floor when you passed by.
"Tiring." You replied briefly. Pulling open the noodles in your hand, you got the hot water ready. You hummed to yourself as you tore the flavor packet in the cup, swaying your hips as you moved around the kitchen.
Bakugo cleared his throat behind you, "Yeah, you're not a good dancer." You squeaked in surprise, turning to his smug face. His smugness turned to disgust, "Is that trash all you're eating?"
"Trash? Excuse me." You rolled your eyes before looking at the kettle you had on the stove.
"Move, extra." You heard him say.
"No. My water is still..."
Bakugo forced his way and moved you aside. "You are not eating this trash." He took the cup and threw it aside.
"You jerk. That was my dinner!" You stomped on his foot, making him growl at you. "I was planning on enjoying that!"
He ignored your complaints and took a pan. "Do you think you can manage to get eggs from the fridge, loser?" Bakugo threw a look at you, "I think we also have leftover rice and bacon there."
"Are you gonna make me dinner?" You took the ingredients from the fridge and put them on a nearby counter so he can reach them easily.
Bakugo said nothing and started cooking. You hopped on the counter and watched him quietly. If he was planning to make himself dinner, it was way too much for one person. Your stomach growled again, making that deep frown on Bakugo's face twitch into a small smile. He cooked quietly, making simple egg fried rice with bacon. Before taking it out of the pan and into separate bowls, Bakugo turned to you and lifted the chopsticks he was using to your mouth.
Was he offering me... You stared at the clumps of rice between the chopsticks. With no other choice, you took it in your mouth and nodded. "That's good, Bakugo."
"Of course it is." Bakugo took two bowls from the cupboard and put rice in them. So he really was making food for you too. He handed you one of the bowls and a pair of chopsticks. "Eat. Don't ever eat those junk again."
You took the bowl, feeling the warmth of the freshly cooked fried rice. "Are you implying that you want to cook healthy meals for me, Kacchan?" He threw you a mean look before he leaned on the counter beside you and started eating. "This is good, Bakugo. You really do cook well."
"I'm perfect, remember?" He commented with a small smirk. "Gotta make sure you're well-fed, especially with that monster in your stomach."
You nudged him, making him laugh again. It was so rare to make him smile, even more to make him laugh. You loved the sound of his bark of a laugh.
"You should laugh more." You commented. Bakugo shut up immediately. "Hey, I was complimenting you."
"Not a single one of those extras outside is funny." He grumbled in his rice bowl.
"And...my stomach is?"
Bakugo shrugged, "Maybe. Honestly didn't know you have a monster in there." He then sent you a grin, "Now that was fucking hilarious."
"Oh ha-ha-ha." You took bites from the rice and scooped more from the bowl, enjoying the food that the blond made for you. Then you put the bowl aside, jumping off the counter and getting two bottles of water from the fridge. You opened one and handed it to Bakugo, "Here."
"Thanks." He mumbled, taking a quick drink before resuming his food. "Think you can manage washing the plates, extra?"
"You don't have to ask. I got it." Although cleaning up isn't your favorite thing to do, you didn't want to have him cook and clean for you. You were capable of doing them, you just...you just don't have the energy most of the time.
Once you two were finished, you took the bowls and washed them up. It was quiet and you could hear him leaving. It was nice to see that side of him, it was pretty rare but hopefully you get to see more.
You smiled as you dried your hands. At that moment, you decided to get more junk food. It was quite an obvious plan to push his buttons, but you knew it was necessary.
Your classmates were still not done watching their movie and somehow, by surprise, they got Bakugo to stay. He doesn't look like he wanted to but was eventually coerced into joining them.
"Hey L/N, come and watch this with us." Kirishima gave the space beside him a good pat before scooting to give you room. He and Mina were on the middle couch, Bakugo on the right and Sero on one of the beanie bag chairs, and Kaminari was sprawled on the floor.
"What are we watching?" You settled beside Red Riot, bringing your feet up in the sofa.
Bakugo rose from his seat, "This is stupid. I'm going to bed." He ignored their protests and left. Mina sent you a glance and you shrug.
Kirishima looked back at the screen, "That's too bad. Bakugo likes the Fast and Furious movies."

✰  summary: the main three bnha boys react to you knocking on their door in the middle of the night :)
✰  warnings: cursing, and i use ellipses too much but other than that this is pure fluff, my dudes
✰  a/n: this is my first time writing something like this, but i thought it would be really cute, so here ya go! i think it turned out pretty well so hope you enjoy~
Tumblr media
A symphony of crickets and wind whistling played outside as you stared up at the ceiling of your dorm room, wide awake. The crack between your curtains exposed a sliver of the moon and it shone distractingly bright on the floor that was littered with books that you had dropped almost as soon as you stepped into your room.
The two of you had stayed up pretty late in his room, going over material and quizzing each other for the next day’s test. It was the first time you two had done something like that; something so simple yet so sweet. The both of you definitely deserved a break together after everything your class had been through.
It had been a rather cold night in the dorms, so you saw the opportunity and ran with it. After visibly shivering didn’t work, you resorted to making cute faces as you asked to wear his sweatshirt.
That’s how you ended up here, happily inhaling the comforting scent of him as you lay in your bed. But despite that, something didn’t feel right. And you wouldn’t fall asleep until you figured it out. Your mind just kept drifting back to him…
Of course, you were probably just missing your precious boyfriend.
Without a moment’s contemplation, you whisked your sheets to the side and swung your legs over the edge of your bed, soft feet gently meeting with the floor. You looked out of the gap between your curtains, watching the trees’ leaves rustle for a moment before you made your way to the door and slid into a pair of beat-up sneakers, not even bothering to put them on fully before you turned the knob and stepped outside.
It was scarily quiet in the hallway as you listened to the sound of your footsteps padding against the ground. Not to mention, unbearably cold. You weren’t very far from his room and in just a matter of minutes you would hopefully be much warmer.
You excitedly reached your destination but before knocking, you paused.
Was he even awake? Maybe it was a little too bold to try and sneak into his room on a school night. Especially after you kept him up to study. But you really, really wanted to see him again.
Before you could think it over again, you raised your fist and tapped your knuckles against his door.

You only knocked twice and tried to keep it as quiet as possible but the sound easily cut through the silence that surrounded you. There was a moment of rustling from inside Bakugou’s room before his voice disrupted whatever quietness was left.
“What the fu-”
“Sorry, Katsuki! It’s me, it’s me—can you let me in?” You hurriedly whisper-yelled all of this.
“Dumbass! It’s one in the fucking morning; go to sleep!” The exclamation seemed angry at surface-level but you could hear his considerate side showing a bit.
“I can’t sleep! Can I, um… could I try sleeping with you?”
No response.
You opened your mouth to try and find the words to convince him, but before they could leave your lips, the door was wrenched open and you were met with Bakugou looking down at you, dressed head-to-toe in all black.
“I’m sorry to bug you, but I just can’t sleep,” you said, tugging on the bottom of your (actually, his) sweatshirt and feeling oddly shy. Somehow, you managed to meet his crimson red eyes, which quite literally softened at the sight of you.
“Ergh, fine. Don’t wake me up again though, dumbass.”
You grinned as you slid off your shoes and followed him over to his bed, taking your spot under the covers after him. Even though your rooms were on the same floor, Bakugou’s felt warmer.
You contently snuggled up near the edge of his mattress, still quite satisfied with just breathing in his scent that lingered in the sheets even though you really wanted the real thing. But that was probably asking too much. Maybe if you asked nice enough…
“Can we cud-”
“Fine.” He didn’t bother waiting for you to finish your request as he had already begun reaching for you, gently pulling you in so that your back was pressed against him.
You sighed, closing your eyes and drowning in the warmth of his body loosely curled around yours. Bakugou draped an arm over your side and you gladly reached for his hand, lightly playing with his fingers before he swatted yours away. That last attempt to maintain his dignity (despite the fact he was still cuddling you) brought a smile onto your face.
It was a shame that you were too tired to appreciate the moment fully, but as you started drifting off to the feeling of Bakugou’s rhythmic breathing against your neck, you made a mental note to start sneaking out of your room a lot more.

✰  ✰  ✰  ✰  ✰  ✰
(someone tell me if he even has a bed in his dorm room but whatever bear with me okay)
“Shoto? Hello?”
You knocked a few more times, but ultimately could not hear anything.
“Are you ignoring me? Are you asleep? Shoto!” It was getting harder to keep your voice at a whisper level.
After a long pause, he responded, “Y/N?”
“Yes, it’s me, Shoto. Can I come in?”
He let out a soft hum and you listened closely to hear the sound of his steps approaching you from behind the door. He opened it swiftly, looking down at you with a semi-confused expression.
“I can’t sleep,” you said. He nodded.
You two just stood there for a few moments before you sighed and stood up straighter, pulling down on the sleeves of his sweatshirt that you wore, which finally drew his attention to it. Only after pausing on the sight of you in his clothes did he look into your eyes again, cheeks slightly pink.
“Can I sleep in here?” Shoto looked so disoriented by the fact that he was woken up at such a time that he blinked a few times before visibly understanding your question.
“Yeah, sure,” he said, stepping back to let you in. You took your shoes off immediately but before you could even give him a hug by the door or perhaps a kiss, he had already returned to his bed and was lying face-down in the center of it.
Damn, he must be really tired.
You rushed over, quickly hopping in beside him and pulling the covers up to your neck. You nudged Shoto gently and he rolled over so the two of you were facing each other.
While the situation was nice, and you were already feeling a lot more at ease, you knew you wanted to be even closer.
“Shoto… have you ever cuddled someone?” You asked in a voice barely above a whisper.
“Huh?”
“Have you ever cuddled someone?” This time you asked a bit louder.
“Oh… no, I don’t think so.”
You pouted a little bit; that was pretty sad.
“Well, do you want to?”
“Don’t really know how,” he admitted, his voice trailing off slightly—he probably wanted you to shut up. So you decided to take matters into your own hands.
You snuggled closer to Todoroki, wriggling into his arms as he lay on his side. Your head was placed right under his chin and you happily squished your cheek against the bit of skin exposed by his shirt there. You stopped moving when you felt him physically respond: by wrapping his arms tighter around you and moving one of his hands up to cup your face.
You looked into his eyes, fighting the urge to let yours fall shut, but almost laughed as you noticed he had the same problem.
“I was kinda hoping for a conversation, but I’d say we’re both too tired,” you muttered, kissing Shoto’s neck gently. He tensed up slightly but relaxed soon after, bringing his head lower to kiss you on the cheek.
“It’s okay, Y/N, we can talk tomorrow. Go to sleep now, okay?”
Without needing to hear another word, you smiled and let yourself drift off in his arms, briefly amused by (but completely adoring) the fact that they were jarringly different temperatures.

You lightly knocked four times, listening hard for a sound from inside. You could hear his bed creaking a bit and what sounded like footsteps.
“Izuku? You still awake? I can’t-”
The door swung open slowly and a head of messy green hair peeked out from behind it. You watched as a look of relief washed over Midoriya’s face at your arrival.
“Can’t sleep? Me too,” he said, rubbing his eyes. His voice was more gravelly than usual but it was utterly adorable.
“Did you want to- ?”
You nodded, already squeezing through the door, kicking off your shoes, and making your way over to his bed, desensitized to the shit ton of All Might faces watching your every move. After reaching your destination, you looked back at Midoriya, then down at his bed, then back again.
“What side d’ya want?”
He shrugged, and you happily took that as your cue to sink under the covers, half-curled up and leaving space for Izuku. Your eyelids fell shut and you grinned at the warm presence of him that followed after you.
“Um, Y/N, can you… I-I want to…” You pieced together his half-muttered sentence fragments and moved closer to him, which he thankfully accepted by lightly grasping you with his scarred hands.
“I thought you couldn’t sleep, now you’re barely awake,” you whispered, half to yourself as Izuku had started drifting off, still holding you by the waist.
You cautiously moved up the bed before taking him into your arms and resting his head against your chest so you could easily rake your fingers through his fluffy green curls. He breathed softly against your neck and pulled you closer, making your heart race under the worn material of his sweatshirt.
“Thanks… for comin’ over. I… I was thinking about it,” Izuku murmured in his sleepy voice, the movement of his lips tickling you.
“I thought you’d be shyer doing something like this, but I’m not complaining, Zuku.” Your voice was starting to sound more tired as well, and you finally closed your eyes, focusing on the sound of your boyfriend breathing and curling his hair between your fingers.
“I love you.”
You barely heard it but that didn’t stop your cheeks from heating up at Midoriya’s adorable, half-asleep confession. Your fingers stopped their combing and you simply cradled his head in your hands before placing tender kisses on his freckled cheeks, the tip of his nose, his closed eyelids, and his forehead (where you lingered a bit longer). He hardly shifted, but you were sure he felt them. You resumed stroking his hair but couldn’t stop yourself from leaning in to kiss his forehead again.
“Love you too, baby.”

on the wonder duo (part 1)
(BNHA Analysis Post Ahead! This isn’t explicitly romantic, but it is an analysis of the relationship between the two most popular characters in BNHA--Katsuki Bakugou and Izuku Midoriya. Split into two posts because I realized that this was gonna be long as HELL)
yall ever think about the fact that the wonder duo is perfectly set up in so that bakugou and deku together are the better version of all might?
bc like. ive been thinking.
everyone knows the win to save and save to win parallel. How they are supposedly two halves of a whole perfect hero (which, previously, was defined as all might)
but ever since bakugou and deku started working as one—growing together to win AND save and continuously reminding each other that they shouldnt try to do things alone, ive realized that its BECAUSE theres two of them that they surpass all might. its not a case of deku and bakugou both being 50% of an ideal hero, but rather i think that they are 100% of what all might SHOULD HAVE BEEN from the very beginning.
as early as the AM v AFO battle in kamino, we see the effects of all mights flawed existence. the fact that he, the greatest and supposedly infallible symbol of peace, was destroyed—society had begun to collapse. there was suddenly no pillar to hold people together and the impacts were so severe that even in the latest chapters of mha it keeps on getting worse. the truth is, all mights biggest mistake was the burden he placed on his own shoulders
with bakugou and deku... its different.
its different for them because down to their attributions, they seem like two halves of a whole person.
i think that the wonder duo are going to surpass all might because of the fact that they work together.

(batshit crazy and conspiratorial essay under the cut !)
1. Complementary Colors
I’d like to first preface literally everything I say by the fact that I am not an expert analyzer or literary major in any way. I am literally just some random fan on the internet who has wayyy too much time and looks wayyy too deep into things, but here we go!
A common thing we see when we talk about bakugou and deku is the way they are... sort of an inverse of one another.
Down to the design of their features and the way they move, Deku is the obviously softer of the two. There’s an intentional contrast between the two of them, in the way that Deku’s drawn with round shapes and curvy hair and the way Bakugou is literally all spikes and half-mast eyes and rough muscles. Bakugou’s movements too are languid and showy, with the way he leans when he walks and splays his legs and kicks open doors. Katsuki, in a casual sense, is loud and dramatic.
Deku on the other hand s finicky. He jitters when he walks and he’s often fidgeting and mumbling. Comparatively, the aura he radiates is energetic and frenzied, even self-conscious to a point unlike Bakugou’s calm and confident movements.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the point is, there’s a clear difference in how either of them are designed and what exactly they are supposed to represent. They utterly complement each other down to the way they behave and even their main colors (red-orange and blue-green) being literal complementary colors.
Now, moving to my more ungrounded points, this is quite a bit of a stretch so I’ll try as much as possible to make sense of these with hyperlinked sources because. yeah.
Down to their names, I think Deku and Bakugou both symbolize something deeper. I think that the way Hori expresses characters and what they’re meant to do is something that we have to pay close attention to when we talk about the Wonder Duo’s rise to success.
Izuku Midoriya (緑谷 出久), as some of us may know, does have an interesting meaning when broken up. According to a lovely fan translation of his name, ‘Izuku’--while not an actual name used commonly in real life--means to ‘Come out’ or ‘Long time’. ‘Midoriya’ on the other hand means (Midori) ‘Green’ and (ya) ‘valley’. The translator further pointed out that his first name ‘Izuku’ could be a reference to him being the first legendary hero to come out of the long-running All Might Era. (or, if you’ve been reading @/bakugoukatsuki-rising’s posts, the first significant anime protag in a long while to come out as queer, ppfft)
but that isn’t my focus right now.
We know that Hori LOVES telling stories with names, and more often than not in the BNHA universe, names alone tell us a lot of things about the characters. When referring to Izuku’s last name, Midoriya, it’s important I think to step back and realize that hey, maybe there’s something more to Green Valley than just the fact that his motif is all green.
After searching for a lil on the specifics of green valley, I’ve found out that across many cultures, the colour green and valleys in general tend to represent life. From dream analysts, to Christianity, and even old Taoist teachings, valleys are seen as areas of fertility and escape. They are seen as safe havens and often escapes for people to come to after running away from bad circumstances.
(Sound familiar?)
Deku, in essence represents life and peace. He represents being the “salvation” that the world in BNHA needed. To me, it sounds like Horikoshi is trying to say that he is the long-awaited hero in the sense. The one that people can feel will create a society that feels safe for everyone after years of All Might just saving people from themselves as a band-aid solution.
On the other hand, we have Katsuki Bakugou (爆豪 勝己), who’s name we commonly know means (Katsuki) Winner and (Bakugou) Explosion Master. He is essentially, the champion. The power. His name means success and power and all the things that make up winning.
When putting them side by side, it then becomes increasingly... interesting to me how their names almost perfectly slot into All Might’s save to win and win to save mantra, and how they are both quintessential parts to what made All Might as a hero.
2. Hero Too!
Now, I’m not even gonna really TOUCH much of what happens in canon. If you want me to do a step by step breakdown of their arcs in regards to the plot of manga and anime, feel free to send me a gratuitous ko-fi tip so I can pay for the headache I get after trying to organize my thoughts into word vomit.
What I WILL talk about on the other hand, is the subtle shift both of them slowly have in regards to how they look. Bakugou and Deku, while growing up, seem to have MANY many parallels--but before I elaborate on all of that, I wanna talk about something else.
Detour: Deku’s Red Shoes
We all know the iconic symbol being Deku’s red shoes. For all his life, save for some outfits like his hero one, we see Deku more often than not wearing his signature red sneakers which have become a running joke in fandom.
But the funny thing is, in Japan, red shoes seem to have an interesting connotation.
In 1922, a popular Japanese nursery rhyme was written, called “Red Shoes”. The interesting part to me about this song was the symbolism that, in my tiny pea-sized brain, I could connect to the story of BNHA.
The story goes that there was a little girl with red shoes named ‘Kimi’. She was from Shizuoka prefecture (which, if you didn’t know, is most likely where Musutafu supposedly is) and was raised by a single mother. When she was young, her mother had to entrust her with a foreigner under the impression that they would give her a better life in America. The stranger is a man named Charles Hewitt (who was described to have blue eyes) and supposedly took her away.
The singer of the song (supposedly the mother, but some argue it was written from the perspective of a childhood friend) believes that Kimi is happy and living a better life away from them, when the reality of the situation was much worse. The young girl with red shoes in actuality had Tuberculosis, and thus the foreigner whom she was entrusted to had left her to fend for herself and eventually left her to go to America while she died alone and orphaned.
“When I see red shoes, I think of her.”
A very interesting story with very interesting implications indeed.
-
Anyway, moving on to the more... “nuanced” and connected parts of this section, I have every reason to believe that Bakugou and Deku were simply MEANT to be working together down to how they dress. Now, I’d like to discuss their hero costumes.
At the start of their series, using these godawful pics for reference, it’s clear to see that neither of them seem alike in any way--reflecting the dissonance in their relationship at that point in canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ough. deku why. (yes we know why its because you love your mom you stupid little bunny <3)
Anyway, we see an immediate gap in how the two of them are. Deku’s first costume is one that reflects how he treated his dream of being a hero. He was still in that childlike idolization phase, the one where his dreams and aspirations were hinged on pure feelings and inspiration from All Might. Katsuki on the other hand was a lot more tactical--professional to an extent. The gap between their respective development with their quirks is something that is clearly felt in every fashion decision they’d made.
(Notice how Deku’s green is a lot brighter and less like the green accents Katsuki has all over his costume.)
As time progressed however... their costumes changed. The colors, the silhouettes, the practical functions, most things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Deku’s Gamma Costume and Bakugou’s Winter Costume used respectively)
we begin to notice a few similarities.
As the show goes on and we see more evolutions of their costumes, it almost seems like they begin to look like a matching pair. Deku’s green grows darker and almost teal in nature, while Bakugou’s orange is veering towards red territory. This is important to note because red-orange and blue-green as I said earlier were complementary colors as compared to simply orange and green. The minute shift is something I really wasn’t quite sure was intentional, but something I find interesting to pick up nonetheless as the colors they used to accent their costumes begin to match up.
Secondly, I think and important thing to note is silhouettes. The way that both Bakugou and Deku’s costumes are designed follow a lot of parallels that typically we don’t see with the rest of 1-A. For one, they both have a combination of tight long-sleeved tops with a bulkier set of bottoms. They also share the use of utility belts and metal pieces typically worn around their necks. Deku has his bunny-eared hood that mimics All Might’s hair, while Bakugou has his orange and black explosion ear-pieces that mimic his own quirk.
Tumblr media
i don’t think any other people in class 1-A match each other as subtly yet strongly as these two. Uraraka and Deku and Bakugou and Kirishima do come close however.
“But Codi, you fucking knob!” I hear you plea. “This is such a reach and tells us practically NOTHING!” And yes, I’m inclined to agree with you! You’d be sort of right in the idea that this is a reach. Maybe I am looking too much into this, and maybe it really isn’t that deep--but I do think that them subconsciously matching outfits means something quite brilliant.
In the way that their costumes are designed, each aspect of either outfits have a very logical explanation. The changes were strategic and made with their fighting styles vividly in mind, so what that tells me is that BECAUSE these costumes are so complementary or similar in nature (Bakugou’s reinforcing his arms while Deku reinforces his legs), these two are implicitly showing the audience that their combat styles are complementary as well.
The evolution of their design choices and similarities tell us that even unknowingly, their minds line up in strategy on the battlefield--a clear exhibit for why they would be INCREDIBLY POWERFUL as a Hero Duo to begin with.
When I look at their hero costumes side by side, I see a mirror. I see the way that these two are reflections of each other and are strong where the other isn’t. The point I see in BNHA repeatedly is that EVERYONE HAS A WEAKNESS. Nothing is infallible, regardless of how hard you train or how powerful your quirk is. Everyone will always have a weakness, but the significant difference I see when fandom discusses the future of Pro-Hero Society is that the new generation is finally raising itself to be RELIANT on each other.
Observing their fighting styles and the simple use of their quirks, its obvious that they are indeed two parts of a whole hero. Bakugou, who’s quirk emphasized his arms and hands and the power that comes from it, while Deku who’s quirk now emphasizes his legs and lower body and the way he’s always running to save people.
IN CONCLUSION:
As they become heroes, it is easy to assume that if nothing else, Bakugou and Deku will cover each other’s weak spots (especially when you consider the way Deku probably won’t be able to keep using his arms with the way both the anime and manga are going...) (also chapter 285, anyone?)

Incomparable Beauty
pairing: Izuku Midoriya x fem! reader
ratings/warnings: sfw, mention of insecurities
genre/AU: fluff, light academia (?) [i highly recommend imagining Izuku in light academia fashion, including some glasses ;) ], aged up characters [third-years]
word count: ~3.4K
synopsis: The young and talented photographer, Izuku Midoriya, is searching for a muse for his next entry in an art gallery. Of course, there seems to be one person who inspires him most of all.
a/n: hi hi <3 shoutout to my lovely 🍥 and ☕️ anons for requesting/helping me figure out this izuku fluff! i am really proud of this so i hope you all like it <3 reblogs are super helpful and id love to hear your thoughts on it. enjoy xx
•························•························•
Izuku Midoriya looked up at the golden-pink sky. He stared into the abyss, hoping to think of something worth capturing. He adjusted the thin glasses that rested upon his face. He sighed and sat up, grabbing his notebook. Inside were hundreds of scribbles, sketches, and ideas that never seemed good enough. He looked to his right, where his camera laid. He wished that it could just take the pictures itself and create something jaw dropping. Still, a camera is nothing without a photographer. Furthermore, a photographer is nothing without a muse.
Izuku gathered his things as he headed back inside, making his way to his dorm. He was frustrated. He only had one week left to submit something into the Tokyo Gallery for Promising Artists, and even then it wasn't a guarantee that he would be selected. Maybe he should send an old piece he thought. He did have a few that he was proud of, but unfortunately, none of them fit the required theme of the gallery.
Izuke had his hands full as he attempted to open his dorm room door. You were making your way up the stairs when you spotted him. Izuku dropped his notebook, loose pages now scattered across the floor. You rushed over.
“Great…” he sighed. You quietly began to pick up the sheets of papers. Izuku froze.
“Midoriya, here,” you smiled, handing him his notebook. His cheeks flushed a rosy pink. He took his notebook back with shaky hands.
“Thank you Y/N.”
“Is all that for the gallery? I heard that you were entering,” you smiled. Izuku chuckled.
“It is but by the looks of it, I won’t be submitting anything. I still haven't come up with anything good enough,” he explained.
“Well don’t be too hard on yourself. I’m sure inspiration will strike you soon enough,” you reassured him, “you’re a brilliant photographer after all.”
Izuku's face was now a bright red. He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head.
“T-Thank you again. Well-uh- goodnight Y/N.”
“Goodnight Izuku.”
You walked away to your dorm as Izuku entered his own. He set all his things down and began to fan his burning face. He has known you for about three years now, yet he still can’t find the courage to get closer to you. You flustered him to no end, without even trying. Your voice, your smile, your laugh, your heart; Midoriya simply couldn’t get enough. You were so beautiful in all ways possible.
Midoriya looked at the printed flair pinned to his wall.
Those interested in applying to the Tokyo Art Gallery must follow the theme below in order to be considered.
The prompt read as follows:
‘Capture beauty in its purest form.’
Beauty, thought Izuku. Almost everything is beautiful. The way the sun rises and falls each day is beautiful. How Inko called Izuku every night at exactly 7:30 was beautiful. The friendships that Izuku cherished were beautiful. Then, there was you. Izuku’s mind couldn’t help but wonder to the thought of you in relation to beauty. Now you were truly beautiful.
Izuku soon had an idea.
~
The following day you found yourself sitting on one of the garden benches. Your classes were finished and you decided that some fresh air might do you some good. You basked in the warm sunlight, as if you were a precious flower that needed it to survive.
Izuku figured that you would be in the academy garden, so he made his way over there. His camera hung around his neck as he held tightly onto his notebook. With a shaky hand, Izuku tapped your shoulder.
“H-Hi Y/N,” he smiled nervously. You greeted him happily, gesturing for him to join you on the bench.
“Hi! Something wrong?” you questioned. Izuku looked like he was sick.
“Oh no, nothing’s wrong. I just-uh- wanted to ask you something…”
“Alright, what is it?”
Izuku set down his notebook next to his side. He held his hands together staring at them.
“Could I take your picture for the Tokyo Gallery?”
Your eyes widened at his request. The best and most handsome photographer in all of UA Academy of the Arts wanted to take your picture.
“You want to take a picture of me? I-I’m no model Izuku…”
“You’ll do great! I have this idea in my mind and it has to be with you.”
Now you were the nervous one. You weren’t one who particularly liked getting their picture taken.
“What if I mess it up? I’d hate to be the reason you don’t get accepted…”
“If those critics reject me, they’re just dumb. I promise it would have nothing to do with you. Please Y/N?” Izuku carefully took your hand with his and stared deep into your eyes. Gosh, how could you say no to him when he looked at you like that.
“Okay, I’ll do it,” you smiled. Izuku squeezed your hand and jumped up from where he sat.
“Thank you Y/N! I promise it will be perfect. Mind if we shoot tomorrow?”
“That sounds good to me.” Izuku smiled so brightly he outshined the sun. He grabbed his things once more.
“Meet me here at noon tomorrow. Try to wear a neutral colored shirt, okay?” he said. You nodded.
“Okay.”
Izuku ran off, leaving you alone in the garden. You soon felt a large pit in the bottom of your stomach.
You stood before the full length mirror of your dorm. You stepped closer to it, examining every detail of you being. A photoshoot? Not only that, but a photoshoot of just you. No way to hide behind anyone or fade into the background. It would be a picture of you. The pit in your stomach only grew. You stared into the mirror, almost hoping the reflection would change into someone else. Someone who would appear beautiful in an enlarged image. Certainly Izuku could’ve asked any other girl to be his model, but insisted that it had to be you. You didn’t understand why. You didn’t view yourself as beautiful in any form. So how could he?
~
It was close to noon and you should be heading to the garden to meet Izuku. You put on a neutral colored tank top as Izuku requested and finished applying some natural makeup. Your hands shook as you held the brushes. Hopefully your nerves would cease by the time you got to the garden.
Izuku had been setting up since early in the morning. He created a handmade crown of white baby’s breath for you to wear and arranged his backdrop. He set up his lighting and sun reflectors exactly where he wanted. You had been standing by one of the bushes for a few minutes, afraid to interrupt him. He was so in his element. The sleeves to his button down rolled up to his elbows. His dark sunglasses covering his eyes. His beige colored paints stained green at the hem from working in the grass, same with his off-white sneakers. You honestly thought he looked beautiful.
“Hi Izuku,” you said. Izuku jumped then turned to look at you.
“Oh Y/N you’re here, perfect! Y-You look great,” he smiled. Your face grew warm.
“Oh thank you. So, what’s the plan?” Izuku moved his sunglasses to his forehead, pushing back his fluffy green hair.
“So, your job is fairly simple. I’m gonna have you sit on this stool and hold onto this bouquet of flowers. Since it's just me out here I’ll be messing around with the equipment until I find the right lighting and all that. All you need to do is keep the pose I tell you to, okay?” he explained. You nodded.
“What is the theme for this year’s gallery?” you asked. Midoriya flinched.
“Oh it’s um...nature…” he muttered. Nature? Why doesn’t he just take a picture of a tree and call it good? What does he need you for, you wondered.
Izuku set down the stool in front of the garden wall and you sat down. He grabbed the bouquet and handed it to you. He then placed the crown uptop of your head. He carefully arranged it to rest effortlessly on you. His nimble fingers were delicate as they touched your head, then moved to your cheek without him thinking. Izuku’s index finger now rested under your chin as you looked up at him. With a burning face and widened eyes, you wished to never look away. Out of flustering embarrassment, Izuku took his hand back.
“Yeah um so for the pose I’d like you to be looking slightly to the side with your chin tilted up just as I had it. Then with the flowers have them close to your cheek. I’ll probably tell you to switch out poses here and there but that's a good place to start. Okay?”
“Okay.”
Izuku walked back and grabbed his camera. Your heart was pounding out of your chest. You tried to keep yourself calm with a few deep breaths.
“Ready?” asked Izuku. You nodded.
“Ready.”
The first click of the camera and flashing lights was the most startling. You soon got used to it, following whatever instructions Izuku gave you. You moved your head and hand placement, soon feeling more comfortable with everything.
“Yes that's perfect...keep doing that…” Izuku blurted out whatever thoughts came to his mind as he captured you on film. His encouragement was honestly what made your heart race.
“Now lower the bouquet so I can see your pretty face…yeah just like that Y/N…”
Midoriya didn’t even realize what he had said until the words left his mouth, but he didn’t care. He meant it.
“Okay now open your eyes and look slightly towards me, parting your lips a bit…”
Izuku snapped the picture then froze. He looked down at the small digital image.
“So beautiful…”
“Hmm?” You questioned. Izuku snapped out of the trance that he was in. He chuckled nervously.
“OH-the pictures look really good that's all. I think we are good,” he said. You let out a sigh.
“Oh good. That was honestly pretty exhausting.”
“I really appreciate you letting me use you for the gallery. I already know the final product is gonna turn out amazing,” he cheered. You smiled.
“It’ll be amazing because you are amazing,” you said. Izuku blushed.
“So are you.”
You took off the crown and returned the flowers to Midoriya. You helped him put away his equipment before the two of you headed back inside.
“Um Y/N, did you maybe want to grab something to eat?” he asked. You smiled.
“I’d love to, just let me change first,” you chuckled.
“Oh yeah of course.”
You dropped off the equipment at Izuku’s dorm before heading to your own. You slipped on a green sweater and some sweatpants before finding him again.
You and Izuku went to the dinning hall, each of you picking up a bowl of ramen. You decided to eat outside on the balcony.
“How do you think the pictures turned out?” you asked.
“Honestly, really good. You did amazing,” he smiled. You looked down at your food.
“I was honestly super nervous for them. Couldn’t you tell?”
“Not at all! You were a natural out there! I really think this will be some of my best work yet,” said Izuku.
“I’d love to go to the gallery with you,” you whispered. Izuku’s eyes widened.
“I was planning on taking you regardless,” he replied, “thank you by the way.”
You tilted your head.
“For what?”
“For always believing in me. I probably wouldn’t be a photographer if it weren’t for you.”
In Izuku’s first year, he was at the bottom of his class. He knew he wanted to do photography, but couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. He was so frustrated one day that he even said that he would be dropping out and quitting forever. You convinced him not to, to keep trying. You saw his talent when no one else could. Even when he couldn’t. From that day forward, Izuku worked to become the best young photographer in all of the Shizuoka Prefecture.
“Well I knew that you could do it, and I was right,” you teased.
“You’re great Y/N, seriously,” he said. You looked at Izuku, your face growing hot.
“I don’t know about that…”
“What? Come on, you’re smart, you’re kind, you’re talented, and you always seem to know what to say. You’re incomparable.”
“To what?”
“To anything. You’re incomparable to anything because you’re you.”
Midoriya had to stop himself from saying anymore, for fear of spilling his whole heart before you. He meant it however. Nobody compares to you.
You swirled your noodles around in their bowl. The pounding in your chest came back. You locked eyes with Izuku.
“You’re incomparable too.”
~
Izuku spent every waking moment arranging his piece for submission to the gallery. He was always found in the art room, either photoshopping or preparing the flowers to be pressed. Once the image of you was edited to his liking, he developed a large scale version of the picture. He enjoyed putting the pieces together. From hand pressing the flowers to finding the perfect frame to keep it all in, he has created a masterpiece. All thanks to his muse.
You roamed the empty halls of the school in search of Izuku. You hadn’t seen him all day, assuming he would be in the art room. It was late, he honestly should be asleep. You stood in front of the art room door and carefully opened it up.
Izuku was fast asleep on one of the desks. The large photograph was wrapped and ready to be sent to Tokyo. You quietly walked over to him, tapping his shoulder.
“Izuku? It's late, you should go to your dorm,” you whispered. Izuku groaned. He opened his eyes and stretched his arms out.
“What time is it?” he yawned. You chuckled.
“Close to eleven. You should get some actual rest. You have to go to Tokyo pretty early tomorrow.”
“R-Right...the gallery…”
You could hear the exhaustion behind his voice. You grabbed his hand, helping him up.
“Come on, let's go.” You held Izuku’s hand as he lazily walked to the dorms. You led him to his room.
“Goodnight Y/N…”
“Goodnight Izuku,” you smiled. Izuku scratched his messy hair, giving you a weak smile. Without thinking, you leaned in placing a quick kiss on his cheek, before rushing to your own dorm.
~
Izuku stared at the letter on his desk. He had received it hours ago yet was too nervous to check. It was addressed to him by the Tokyo Art Gallery.
He took a deep breath and grabbed the letter opener from his desk, carefully gliding it across the envelope. He took out the folder paper and opened it up. Izuku ran to your room.
You jumped from your bed when you heard the pounding on your door.
“Izuku? Everything okay?”
He didn’t say anything, simply handing you the letter.
“Is this…?”
“Read it.”
You caught your breath, peaking at the paper.
‘Dear Mr. Midoriya,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the Tokyo Art Gallery for Promising Artists! Your piece titled…’
You didn’t finish reading the letter. Instead, you jumped into Izuku’s arms.
“I knew you’d make it! I’m so proud of you!” you cheered. Izuku hugged you tightly, laughing with joy.
“It’s all thanks to you, I couldn’t do it without you,” he whispered. You looked at Izuku, your hands on his shoulder as he held onto your waist. His face blushed red.
“Oh sorry-” he mumbled, removing his grip from you. Your face burned.
“I-It’s okay...congratulations Izuku. You did it,” you smiled. Izuku took your hand, giving it a squeeze.
“We did it.”
It was the day of the gallery showing. You were beyond excited to see all the beautiful artwork, specifically Izuku’s. You still hadn’t seen the final product.
You were dressed and ready, waiting for Izuku.
“Sorry I’m late-”
Izuku came rushing down the stairs to meet you. He looked devilishly handsome in his light grey suit and black turtleneck underneath. He prompted for some beat up black sneakers today.
“That's alright… you look nice,” you smiled. Izuku blushed.
“Says you..you look...wow…” He could barely form a sentence you were so breathtaking.
“Oh stop…”
“Shall we?” Izuku held out his arm for you to take. You did happily.
“We shall.”
The two of you rode the train to Tokyo, arriving at the gallery just before it was open to the public.
“Mr. Midoriya,” said one of the gallery workers, “your art is on the third floor.”
“Thank you.” You and Izuku made your way up the stairs, searching the room for the photo.
“Oh here it is,” smiled Izuku. The large photo was covered up and had velvet rope to stop anyone from getting too close.
“Wow, they must’ve liked yours!” you exclaimed. Izuku blushed.
“Well I didn’t tell you but it actually got nominated for best portrait of the gallery…”
“WHAT? Izuku, that's amazing!” you gushed.
“Yeah so some judges will take a look at it later on and hopefully we win…”
“Doesn’t matter if we win or not. I know it's the best one here,” you smiled.
You soon heard footsteps make their way up to the third floor.
“Showtime,” whispered Izuku. You took a step back from the portrait and watched as Izuku removed the curtain that covered it. The room filled with awes.
Izuku decided to go with the last picture that he took, the one where you seemed to have taken his breath away. You were entirely in black and white, only color coming from the flowers atop of your head and in your hand. Also, the pressed flowers that surrounded you. Izuku covered up the garden wall with pressed roses, daisies, lilies, and sunflowers. You looked like an angel.
You took a few steps towards the picture, reading its title.
‘Incomparable Beauty’ - Izuku Midoriya
You couldn’t seem to find the words, none of them seemed to be right. You backed away from the portrait before bumping into someone.
“Oh I’m sorry-” you said. They smiled.
“Don’t worry about it. Wait...you’re the model in that photo,” they replied. You gulped.
“Um yeah I am…”
“Well tell your photographer that they did an excellent job, really captured the gallery theme.”
“The nature theme?” you questioned. They tilted their head.
“No, the theme was ‘Beauty in its Purest Form’. Really great work.”
Your eyes widened.
“Uh-excuse me-”
You began to shuffle through the crowd of people. Izuku noticed you make your way towards the exit.
“Y/N? Y/N!”
Izuku followed you down the stairs. You rushed outside, breathing in the fresh air. Izuku grabbed onto your arm.
“Y/N what's wrong?” pleaded Izuku, “did you not like it?”
You shook your head. Tears began to gather in the corners of your eyes.
“No Izuku, I loved it. I really loved it,” you sniffled. Midoriya felt a wave of relief wash over him.
“Why did you run?”
“Because...I didn’t recognize myself...I looked-”
“Beautiful. You look beautiful,” he interrupted.
“Y-You think I’m beautiful?” you cried. Izuku wiped away your stray tears.
“Y/N, I think you are the most beautiful girl in the world, inside and out. Y-You’re my muse.”
Izuku cupped your face as you tried to hold back anymore tears.
“You made me look beautiful…”
“No Y/N, you are beautiful. I simply clicked the camera.”
Izuku pulled you into a tight hug, holding the back of your head gently. There was something about the way Izuku made you feel. As if you were the only girl in the world.
“I love you,” you whispered. Izuku’s eyes grew. He moved to face you, a smile creeping onto his face.
“I love you.”
Izuku placed his hand onto your cheek, feeling your soft skin. He began to inch closer to you. You couldn’t wait anymore, the anticipation killing you. You collided your lips with his, wrapping your arms around him. He had one hand on the small of your back as the other held the back of your head. Izuku took mental pictures of this moment, wishing to relive it over and over again. The warmth between the two of you in contrast to the cold air that surrounded you. It was a tornado of emotions.
You looked at Izuku, both of your faces burning and you attempted to catch your breath. You pressed your foreheads together, chuckling softly. Izuku kissed your forehead.
“You really are incomparable.”

izuku midoriya? or todoroki. whichever you prefer
I like them both very much, so I'm doing both. They're my babies.
First, Midoriya!
💚Favorite thing about them: So many things! So many thingssss! He's so adorable and badass. Special mention gotta go to his freckles. And somehow he got me to like the color green. I used to hate green with a passion, but he changed my mind.
💚Least favorite thing about them: Baby, sweetheart, please stop pushing your body to the limit! You're strong... but NOT INDESTRUCIBLE!!
💚Favorite line: So many.
"You're forbidden from carrying them, Mineta."
When he got into a monologue about chicken in S5 EP17
"I didn't expect him to be bonkers." - S2 EP14
From the previous episode - "HOLY WHOA, HE'S DEAD!!" Gran Torino wakes up. "HE'S ALIVE!"
And a lot more lines.
💚brOTP: Dekusquad, or Izucrew (including Shinso). I also just love him with Kaminari and Kirishima as a trio. I feel like it's underrated. It's such a precious brOTP.
💚OTP: When I first got into BNHA, Tododeku was my first OTP. Still is one of my faves along with so many others. Bakudeku, IzuOcha, etc. Midoriya deserves affection (platonically and romantically, either/or).
💚nOTP: Midoriya x All Might, like who came up with that?
💚Random headcanon: I feel like he's actually a good artist, so at least sharpens his skills overtime. We see he does draw in his journals, but they're messy sketches because well, he's in a hurry to write down info before he forgets it. But I like the thought of him having separate sketchpads he draws in and shares it with Kaminari (who I also headcanon as an artist).
Speaking of notes, I also think he's the type to have color coded notes with sticky notes used as a bookmarks or to jot down extra info.
💚Unpopular opinion: We see him wear those red sneakers all the time, but I like them. I'd wear them. Also, him being emotional is an endearing character trait. I hate how some people in the fandom just label him as a crybaby. No, he just wears his heart on his sleeve. It can be a weakness, you know, letting your emotions get the better of you (I know too well), but it's also a strength sometimes because he still shows he's compassionate towards others.
💚Song I associate with them: 'Go Beyond' by Nemraps which I recommend if any of you into nerdcore raps! Also 'So Am I' by Ava Max and (I do like the music) 'I'll Show You' by KDA.
💚Favorite picture of them: Like others before him, I can't choose just one picture... and trust there's a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Todoroki!
❄Favorite thing about them: His design is a favorite trait of mine. I have a weakness for the half-half hair color thing and I have had my hair red and white like his once. Also, his voices. Both his VAs do an amazing job in my opinion. And his love for soba and that he reads manga.
🔥Least favorite thing about them: Eh... I don't think I do have a least favorite thing about him. Wait! His first hero costume was so... horrendous... I understood why he had it like that, hating his father and all, but... I hate it so much.
❄Favorite line: Again, so many.
"It's like I'm the hand crusher or something!" & "You damn mutt!" (BOY REALLY WAS GOING TO FIGHT A COP!) - S2 EP18
"He's like a miniature version of you." - S3 EP2
"This is me, incognito." - S3 EP8
"I want to see your cute face. Don't spoil it with wrinkles." - S4 EP17
🔥brOTP: Todomomo is a fave, as well as him and Sero, them sharing manga is so cute to me. Also, him and Midoriya, because they are definitely disaster besties. Yes, they're an OTP, but they're a brOTP, too.
❄OTP: Tododeku, but again, so many. I got into Todobaku lately, too. And I do like Todomomo and I see Todoiida has some potential.
🔥nOTP: I refuse, absolutely refuse to ship him with Dabi.
❄Random headcanon: Maybe this is canon, I don't know, but he can sleep anywhere. I said this with Shinsou, too. I also think he like cold foods more than hot and that he has a sweet tooth. He probably didn't get to eat a lot of sweet foods when he was younger, so when the dorms were made and Satou would bake, Todoroki is one of the first to eat anything he bakes and will fight a classmate over a cookie.
🔥Unpopular opinion: He's so awkward, but it's so adorable. I don't blame him for being awkward (backstory). His little quips like napping whenever or his sense of humor is off is nice for his kind of character. I don't see him as a boring character as some folks say.
❄Song I associate with them: Don't be surprised I'm saying 'Hot 'n' Cold' by Katy Perry. I'm joking! I like Gameboyjones' 'Heat Up, Freeze Up', which is yes, another anime rap song. Also 'I Smile' by Tayla Parx. (LISTEN TO HER MUSIC, IT'S AMAZING)
🔥Favorite picture of them: Like others before him, I don't have a picture. I have many.

“You look a little lonely.” + twirls into a dance
“Those dress shoes are meant for dancing with someone, you know.” Sero snickers, “Not just to look fresh.”
Bakugou huffs, “Fuck off.”
Standing in front of him, Kaminari continues to pull at his arms, beckoning him to stand. “C’mon! The teachers are ending the dance in an hour, and you haven’t danced! Not even to one song!”
Seated right beside Bakugou, Kirishima chuckles. “Guys, he’s not budging.”
“Yeah, no kidding.” Sero laughs, shaking his head, “Man, if you were gonna show up, then why sit around all night, Bakugou?”
“That’s none of your fucking business.” Bakugou sneers.
“It is, if you’re going to be such a wet blanket!” Kaminari grits through his teeth, still straining to pull Bakugou up to his feet.
After a few more attempts, all of which Bakugou simply doesn’t budge, Kirishima finally swats at Kaminari, shoo’ing the two boys away. When both friends refuse, he shakes his head.
“Go back to the dance floor, you two! The girls are missing you!” He laughs at them.
As they walk away from the round table, Bakugou finally looks over to Kirishima. “I don’t remember asking you to stay.” He mutters.
Immediately, Kirishima sweats, rubbing an awkward hand on the back of his neck. “Y-Yeah, dances aren’t really my thing, either. Hate them, actually.”
Bakugou raises a brow, wordlessly.
Kirishima sighs in defeat, looking away from him. “Right, well, I do like to dance. But,” He blushes furiously, as red as his tie, “I-I mean, you heard Sero. We’re supposed to be dancing with others. And, I’m not exactly the best.”
“Who the fuck cares?”
“Me.” Kirishima groans, “That’s who cares.”
Staring back at the dancefloor, improvised in Gym Gamma, Bakugou eyes at the several first years bundled in the crowd. From all departments and classes, he barely could recognize anyone, other than his classmates.
Yet, even then, some of his classmates looked completely different; dressed in formal wear and makeup.
But, there’s one thing he can most certainly recognize.
In the middle of the huge crowd, jumping and spinning into impressive moves, was Ashido. She had the dancefloor shouting and yelling in cheers.
Glancing back at Kirishima, Bakugou wants to laugh at how crestfallen his friend looks.
He doesn’t. Instead, he simply slumps into his seat, crossing his arms. “She wouldn’t mind.”
“Dude, I’m not asking her to dance.”
“I never said that shit.” Bakugou rolls his eyes, “But sure, go ahead.”
Fervently, Kirishima shakes his head, his cheeks blooming red. “Not in front of all those people! Maybe, if it were just the two of us, I wouldn’t mind. But, god, with everyone there, that’s-”
“Red Riot would.”
“...He would?”
“Yeah, he fucking would.” Bakugou snorts, keeping a steady, firm gaze at Kirishima. “Ain’t that manliest shit any guy could do? Pick up the girl he wants, and claim her in front of the world. The Red Riot Unbreakable would do that shit in a heartbeat.”
In his thoughts, Bakugou’s mind calls himself a hypocrite. He squishes the thought away.
Regardless, he feels prideful, as he watches his once timid stricken friend visibly grow confident, like a sunflower standing against the sunrays. Getting up from his seat, Kirishima throws a fist in the air.
“That’s right!” Kirishima exclaims above the music, “Red Riot would get the girl! He always gets the girl.”
Bakugou smirks. “Exactly. So, go fucking knock Pinky off her feet, Shitty Hair.”
When Kirishima leaves, Bakugou slumps back in his seat, crossing his arms. There was still another hour of sitting around, so might as well get comfortable.
Internally, he begins to berate himself; Why the fuck did he show up? This was the biggest mistake in all Bakugou history, and he never makes mistakes. He should have stayed back in the dorms, up in his room, alone, and at peace. Why was he here?
Sero’s right. If he was going to show up, then why sit around all night? Bored out of his mind.
And, just like that, his brain reminds him. A memory of the classroom, with Yaoyorozu asking Midoriya if he is going to attend the school dance. And, from where he was seated, Bakugou had heard Midoriya saying he would.
Midoriya was going to the dance. And, suddenly, Bakugou wanted to go.
“You look a little lonely.”
Bakugou blinks, at first thinking his own thoughts had reverbated louder in his head. But, when he looks up to check his surroundings, he’s instantly met with Midoriya, standing in front of him.
Quickly, right when their eyes meet, Midoriya visibly stiffens. “S-Sorry!” He starts, “I mean, if you have been wanting to be alone, I’ll just, um, leave you be.”
Bakugou looks down at Midoriya’s suit; brown striped coat, yellow under dress shirt, black bow tie, and those red, obnoxious sneakers. An ugly sight to see, quite honestly.
But, when he glances back up to see Midoriya’s wild curls, against his soft face, sprinkled freckles, and shining with those green irises, Bakugou feels his breath get caught in his throat.
He coughs, “Nah. you’re good.” He mumbles.
“Th-That’s reassuring.” Midoriya offers a short laugh, despite everything about his body looking nervous. “So, you are alone, right Kacchan?”
“Yeah, and I guess you can stay, if that’s what you’re planning.”
“Um, I-I wasn’t going to stay here, actually.” Midoriya stutters, his hands gripping at his sides.
Bakugou tilts his head. “The fuck? Then, why make your way over here?”
Instantly, Midoriya’s face floods pink. “Uh, funny that you ask that. I-I, uh, I was just, you know, thinking. Yeah, it was just a thought. That, um, you most likely don’t like to dance. But, possibly, you could. It was possible that, uh, you would like to dance. But, maybe not just with anyone. But, I-I’m not anyone. Well, maybe I am. And, I’m just hoping I’m not just anyone to you. So-”
“Izuku, what the fuck are you even saying?!” Bakugou yells.
“Do you want to dance with me?!” Midoriya shouts back.
“What?!” Bakugou blurts.
It gets worse. “I said, ‘Do you want to dance?!!” Midoriya shouts louder, eyes closed shut tight. “With me?!”
“I heard you the first time, idiot!” Bakugou screams.
“Then, why did you ask?!”
“It was a fucking expression!”
Slapping his hands over his flushed face, Midoriya bends over. “Oh my god, this is humiliating. Forget I ever asked, Kacchan. I promise, I will do anything. Just, forget this happened.” He pleads, muffled by his palms.
Quickly, Bakugou stands up, and grabs Midoriya's arm. Pulling him from behind, he shouts from behind, “Follow me, and don’t you fucking dare double take!”
Frantically searching throughout the gym, Bakugou’s terribly realizing that the whole place has groups spread out all over, without an open area in sight. He tries to pull them in between tables, chairs, and other U.A students. But, alas, he couldn’t find a single-
Midoriya taps on his shoulder. When Bakugou turns around, he sees Midoriya pointing over to the far left.
“Why don’t we move to the corner, in that empty space?” Midoriya offers weakly.
By the closed entrance doors, there was graciously a spot, open enough for just them, and away from the entire crowd at the end of the gym. The relief that spread through Bakugou’s chest was long, and well needed.
Slowly, they make their way over to the area, completely quiet as finally Bakugou turns to face Midoriya. Letting go of Midoriya’s arm, Bakugou is left to awkwardly keep his arms at his sides.
“What do you want me to do now, Deku?”
Unable to look directly at him, Midoriya takes a step closer, staring down at their shoes. “We’re supposed to start dancing.” He whispers.
“No shit, I know that.” Bakugou hisses, “So, hurry up and tell me what the fuck you want to do!”
Midoriya’s face blushes a deeper pink; a color that Bakugou can’t seem to stop staring at.
“I want, um, this hand here.” Midoriya nervously grabs onto Bakugou’s left hand, guiding it up to his shoulder. “And, this hand,” He grabs his right hand, “will go over here.”
It takes Bakugou way too long for his pride to notice that his right hand was never going to be placed anywhere. Instead, it was meant to be clasped in Midoriya’s calloused, warm hand.
Midoriya was waiting for his reaction, and all Bakugou had done in the long seconds that passed was stare at their hands. How fucking embarrasing.
“When are you going to move, Deku?” Bakugou grits out, hoping to play off his slow reaction.
Immediately, he feels a jolt in Midoriya, as he quickly places his other hand on Bakugou’s waist. “R-Right, um, sorry! I just got nervous!”
Bakugou internally hopes Midoriya can’t feel how drenched his hands feel.
The first few steps, Midoriya’s face cringes at each stomp on his toes Bakugou ends up making. He hates how fucking dumb dancing is, making him second guess every move, unlike any battle he has ever faced. The confidence that Bakugou once dripped in was dried out, completely nowhere to be found.
Yet, each time he makes a dreadful, painful error, Midoriya always meets his gaze with a soft smile. “D-Don’t mind.” He reassures each time.
And, dammit, that only makes Bakugou’s heart race faster, banging in his chest.
He doesn’t know when it started to get easier, but he finally notices he isn’t stepping on Midoriya as much as he did before. Instead, they were easily swaying, side by side, rocking in their small little space. The music wasn’t that much of a slow song, but they nevertheless took their time together, just the two of them.
“There’s only a few more songs left.” Midoriya says.
Bakugou huffs, looking back up at Midoriya, instead of the floor. “That fucking sucks.” He admits.
Midoriya softly smiles back, “Yeah.. It really does. I wish I had danced with you from the start.”
“..Me too.”
“Let’s try to make the world spin slower, Kacchan.” Midoriya whispers to him, still smiling. “So, the night can last longer.”
And, with ease, Midoriya lifts his arm over Bakugou’s head, and twirls him in dance.

The Little Moments (Bakudeku Tropetember Drabble)
I'm back with another Tropetember drabble! This one side-tracked me when I was working on Belleza que Atrae, and it became WAY LONGER then I intended. For day 17: Accidental Baby Acquisition / (Single) Parent AU / Babysitting  AO3 link here.
The door creaked open as Katsuki came home and pulled off his work boots. He had a minute to feel the relief of finally being home when he heard the pitter-pattering of a child’s feet. He quickly turned and scooped up the tiny blonde as the little boy screamed, “Daddy! You’re home!”
Katsuki smiled into his son’s hair as he hugged him, “Yeah...I’m home, little man.” He carried the boy into the main room and paid the babysitter before cuddling his son on the couch for the few minutes they had before dinner.
Izumi sat on the counter as Katsuki made their meal. He smiled fondly as he listened to his son ramble about his day. Little moments like these made the hours that Katsuki pulled and the things he put up with worth it; it was all to make sure Izumi had a good life.
Izumi was chattering about his class when he mentioned something that caught Katsuki’s attention, “And this year, my teacher’s super cool and nice. Midoriya-sensei is really amazing!”
Katsuki loved his son, but he could easily admit that Izumi usually had a hard time getting along with his teachers. So naturally, Katsuki was insanely curious about what made “Midoriya-sensei” so different than the teachers his son had had before. “Midoriya-sensei, huh? What do you like so much about her, ‘Zumi?”
Izumi looked scandalized and he hit Katsuki with a couple of tiny fists before shouting, “Midoriya-sensei is a boy! Not a dumb girl!” Izumi looked angry for a second before turning his head away from Katsuki and grumbling, “Midoriya-sensei is kinda pretty like a girl though, like the nature spirit-y things in some of the stories you read me. Nie—Ni—Nim—What is it again, daddy?”
Katsuki chuckled, “I think you’re thinking of nymphs, son, but those are usually water spirits. The nature spirits are called dryads.”
Izumi’s eyes brightened and he nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah! Those! Midoriya-sensei looks like a dryad! Like he could turn into a tree, but in a pretty way! And he always makes sure that everyone is having a good day and understands his lessons! Usually teachers just don’t bother with the stupid kids and the mean-looking kids, but Midoriya-sensei makes sure that everyone is doing good! I’ve haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like him yet! He’s like a superhero!”
Katsuki nodded with a fond look across his face at his son’s enthusiasm. He turned off the heat on the stove and plated the food before picking his son up and setting him on his hip. Izumi was starting to get too big for it, but Katsuki didn’t work out for nothing. He would carry his son for as long as he was able and Izumi was willing.
“‘Zumi, I’m very glad you like your teacher this year.” He set Izumi in his chair and set a plate of food in front of him. Katsuki grabbed his own food and sat down across from his son before continuing, “But remember...don’t call your classmates stupid just because they have a hard time understanding what you’re learning. Some people learn and understand things differently, and that’s perfectly okay. Alright?”
Izumi nodded and slurped his noodles before smirking at Katsuki.
Katsuki smacked the hand that wasn’t holding his chopsticks with enough force that his son would feel it, but not enough that it would hurt or turn red. “I guess you really don’t want the mochi that I’ve got in the fridge, huh? Shame—I just made them last night and in your favorite flavor too,” Katsuki feigned nonchalance, but grinned inwardly as Izumi’s eyes widened and he shook his head empathetically.
“NO! I WANT MOCHI PLEASE!”
“Eat the rest of your food without slurping and I’ll think about it.” Katsuki smiled fondly into his chopsticks as he watched his son finish his food quickly but politely. Yeah—moments like these were Katsuki’s favorite.
.
.
.
Katsuki walked into his son’s classroom with all the purpose of a boat cutting through the water. In this case, however, Katsuki was his yearly mission to make sure Izumi wasn’t getting royally fucked over by his school. Neither Katsuki nor Izumi really enjoyed parent-teacher conferences, hence why Katsuki had left Izumi with a babysitter, but it was something they had to deal with and Katsuki would never pass up the opportunity of intimidating his son’s teachers...it was just too funny.
.
.
.
The only thing that kept Katsuki’s jaw from hanging open at the man sitting in front of him was the fact that he had prior knowledge of what he would look like. The only thing wrong with Izumi’s description of his sensei was the fact that Midoriya-san didn’t just look like a nature spirit—no, he looked like a whole-ass god.
Midoriya’s hair fell in shiny, green ringlets over his head, accenting his defined yet delicate features. His freckles were spattered over the bridge of his nose and along his cheeks in curious constellations that made Katsuki want to spend eons tracing them and counting Midoriya’s freckles like stars.
His eyes were green, but Katsuki thought the word green could never encompass the countless universes that Midoriya held in his eyes. They swirled with specks of gold, and highlights of lime, and depths of pine in almost black shadows, and they shone with the light of someone who was truly happy with what they were doing. They shone so brightly that Katsuki felt overwhelmed as those eyes looked, with their vast swirling universes, at him.
“Hello, Bakugou-san! I’m Midoriya Izuku, Izumi’s teacher. It’s lovely to meet you. Your son is such a delight to have in class! He’s very smart and helpful. Even though he’s a little gruff, he’s passionate and kind to his classmates. Such an amazing child you have!”
Katsuki smirked at the praise for his son, but his insides felt like they were melting from the warmth that Midoriya-san gave off.
Midoriya bit his lip, causing Katsuki’s brow to furrow, before speaking, “I’m sorry if this is rude, but I’m just a bit curious….usually mothers come to their child's conferences, you see, so...I was wondering….”
Katsuki sneered before replying to Midoriya’s gross attempt at making it a polite question, “Pardon my language—but my son’s shitty incubator was a bitch-ass whore. I regret fornicating with her, but I don’t regret Izumi. Never Izumi. So stop with the shit and let’s talk about my son, Deku.”
Midoriya had been staring bug-eyed at him while Katsuki was speaking, but he looked even more surprised at being called, “Deku? Maybe you misheard, but my name is Midoriya Izuku .”
“I don’t call rude assholes that insinuate that I’m a bad parent by their names, Deku ,” Katsuki smirked as he watched Deku’s jaw drop for a quick moment, but Katsuki was a little surprised when a flush rose on Deku’s cheeks and he gained a determined gleam in his eye.
“I apologize if  I insinuated anything, Kacchan , no excuse is a good one and it wasn’t my intention….I was just trying to be subtle.”
Katsuki had slammed his hands on the table at the word “Kacchan”, but now his brow furrowed in confusion, “Subtle about what, stupid Deku?”
If it was possible, Deku seemed to flush harder at this question, but Katsuki remained stead-fast and waited for an answer. Deku flustered for a second before the determined gleam came back and he answered, “I-I-I think you’re hot, okay?! Oh my goodness, this is so fucking unprofessional of me! I can’t date the parent of a student! But Bakugou-san is so fuckingbeatifulandprotectiveandkind—”
“Shut the hell up, dumbass Deku!” Katsuki was blushing furiously. The god-like green-eyed man thought he was attractive and dateable! Katsuki knew that he was sexy as fuck, but he hadn’t been on a date or even been interested in someone since before he had Izumi. Deku had been rude, but it didn’t seem like he meant it in a derogatory way like some teachers and parents that Katsuki had met before—and he was really pretty, so Katsuki paused for a second before speaking, “Tomorrow is Saturday. If you’re free, I’ll pick you up at 10 am. Now let’s talk about your class and my son. What sort of things will you be teaching this year?”
Deku’s jaw was hanging open as he stared wide-eyed at Katsuki, “Ummmm...I’m good with 10 tomorrow. Will Izumi be there?”
Katsuki scoffed, “Fucking obviously.” And their conference continued with no further talk of the date.
.
.
.
Katsuki held Izumi’s hand as he knocked on the door, but suddenly the boy tugged on his shirt and made the motion that meant he wanted to be picked up. Katsuki’s heart melted. It had been a while since his son had asked for uppies. As he was nuzzling the boy on his hip and Izumi was giggling, the door opened to reveal Deku. “Am I interrupting something?” Deku asked with a teasing smile.
And just like that, Katsuki’s heart had reformed and started beating at a frantic pace. Deku was wearing a pastel green and white plaid button-up over a white shirt that said “date shirt”, jeans that were loose enough for the physical activities that they would be doing today, and….red sneakers. He looked dorky as fuck, but somehow Deku was able to make the ensemble look adorable.
Katsuki smiled at the man and was about to greet him, but his son beat him to it. “MIDORIYA-SENSEI!?! Daddy didn’t say we were going to see you! HI!!!” Izumi was squirming to get down now, so Katsuki gently sat him on the ground so he could run and give Deku a hug.
Deku smiled fondly at Izumi, making Katsuki’s heart warm, before asking, “Well, what did your daddy say you were going to be doing?”
Izumi thought for a moment before turning back to Katsuki. “Daddy what are we doin’?”
Katsuki chuckled at his cute son before responding, “Your teacher and I are having a date, but since I’m taking him for a picnic in the park, I thought it would be fun if you could come too. We haven’t gone to the park in a while, have we, squirt?”
His son’s eyes had widened at the word “date”, but he seemed to forget the surprise in favor of being excited about going to the park. “PARK! Park! Park! Park! Let’s go now, daddy! What are we just standing around for?!?”
Katsuki looked to Deku, who had a wobbly smile on his face and a fond look in his eye, and held out a hand for him to take. Deku’s eyes widened a bit before he shot Katsuki in the heart with a shy smile and a pink blush. Deku grabbed his hand, and they made their way to Izumi, who was waiting at the end of the walkway and bouncing on his toes in anxious excitement.
Izumi eyed Katsuki and Deku’s clasped hands and held his hands out. Katsuki and Deku let go of each other at the same time, looked at each other in surprise before smiling, and simultaneously grabbed Izumi’s outstretched hands. As the trio began walking towards the park, Katsuki thought that this might be the start of something great.
That’s it! Hope you enjoyed! I think I only have three more drabbles to wrap up my tropetember series! See y’all soon!

I’ve been thinking about the red sneaker theory, and my brain went to “hey, guess who 1) has had an extended encounter with Shigaraki, long enough and at the right angle such that he would have plenty of time to notice his weirdass shoes and 2) grew up with someone who was quirkless (and is no longer quirkless), and who could reasonable know about the limited shoe options for quirkless people in highly athletic jobs (and that getting a quirk second hand does not change the pinky toe joint)”
That’s right! It’s Katsuki Bakugou!
Now I’ve got a scene stuck in my head of how this revelation would play out.
Shigaraki has Katsuki captured and is trying to convince him that AFO is really a savior, maybe even telling his own story to try to win over Katsuki. Not that he was buying any of this bullshit anyways, but something about Shigaraki’s story feels wrong to Katsuki, he glances down and whose eyes catch on Shigaraki’s bright red shoes. With black laces. And white bottoms. Katsuki’s brain suddenly puts everything together, because he knows what brand of shoe that is. He’s learned to associate it with instant annoyance, because there was only one person he knew that wore them. Since Izuku had defended his ugly shoe color by explaining it was his only option, Katsuki not only knows what brand it is, but he knows who they’re made for. There’s only one reason Shigaraki would be wearing those shoes.
After putting all this together in a moment of him being oddly quiet, Katsuki looks back up.
“Tell you what,” Katsuki starts, his tone setting Shigaraki on edge for reasons he doesn’t quite understand. “I’ll consider joining your shitty club, if you can explain something for me.”
Shigaraki is hesitant, but certainly doesn’t think he has anything to lose here, so he nods and Katsuki continues.
“Let’s make sure we’re on the same fucking page here first. So you, the grandkid of someone All for One wanted revenge on, just so happened to get an extremely rare mutation that gave you a very powerful and destructive quirk that’s incredibly difficult to control. You ran away, and just so happened to not run into any heroes, police, or anyone who in general gave a shit, until All for One was, I dunno, out on a fucking walk? Randomly noticed you, and despite him not giving a fuck about anything, he decided to take you in and make you his successor on a whim. No idea who you were, he just felt like it. I got all that?”
While upset by the obvious doubt in Katsuki’s voice, Shigaraki nods anyways. That’s all correct.
“Right. So that’s all the stuff both of us know. Let me add in a bit of extra fucking knowledge here, some shit I don’t think you know about. You know people born quirkless, right? Do you know how to tell if a kid is born quirkless?”
The seemingly random topic change was almost startling, but Shigaraki answers without thinking.
“An extra joint in the pinky toe.” He knows that much. It’s one of those facts you just sort of hold onto. But he can’t actually remember how many an ‘extra joint’ is. Maybe 4? It’s irrelevant.
“Yep. That’s not quite all of it though. See, as I’ve found out, anyone who gets a quirk from someone else doesn’t lose their toe joint, and anyone who loses their quirk won’t grow a new one. Makes it easy to tell who was born with their quirk and who wasn’t, assuming you can do a fucking xray of their foot.”
It makes sense, the toe joint was a chromosomal link, not cause and effect. So quirks being changed around later in life shouldn’t change that. Shigaraki still has no idea why Katsuki was bringing this up.
Katsuki ignores his confusion and keeps talking.
“Fun fact though, and by ‘fun’ I mean ‘shitty’, that extra toe joint means quirkless people need different shoes. At least if they’re gonna be using their feet a lot. Since they’re in the minority, there’s not a lot of shoe options out there. Even less for high activity stuff. I grew up with someone who was quirkless, and he was into athletic shit, so he only had one option for shoes. The brand is pretty unique, and fucking ugly. I’ve never seen anyone without that extra toe joint wearing the color scheme.”
Suddenly, Shigaraki doesn’t like where this is going. Not one bit. Katsuki once again pays him no mind, plowing ahead.
“Bright red shoe, black laces, white bottoms. Super fucking distinctive. Clash with fucking everything. They stand out like a sore thumb, and there’s no way anyone wears those because they like the way they look.”
Someone was breathing quickly, and Shigaraki realizes it might be him. Was Katsuki further away? Had he taken a step back without realizing it?
Shigaraki knows whose shoes Katsuki is talking about. He’s worn this exact style of shoe his entire life. All he knew about them was that they were the only sneakers that didn’t make his feet ache and groan. Sure, he’d tried other brands at various points in his life, but none of them had fit quite right. He never understood why. Never thought about it for very long, because it hadn’t been important. Or maybe because he hadn’t wanted to think about it. He still doesn’t want to think about it.
“So given all of that. Given that according to your story, you were born with a quirk. Given that every shitty outfit I’ve seen you in is just fucking black besides your footwear, which you’ve kept the same despite changing the rest of it several times. Given all that shit, we get the part I need you to explain for me.”
Katsuki’s eyes find Shigaraki’s, red meeting red and forcing Shigaraki to listen, even when all he wants to do is clamp his hands over his ears and drown out this blasphemy before that final question comes and makes it real.
“Why the fuck do you wear shoes made for quirkless people?”
Both of them know the answer. Shigaraki can’t bare to say it out loud. He can’t let his life fall apart like this, not over something that shouldn’t have mattered. Everything he thought he knew was crashing down around him.
Funny how many secrets could be unraveled by something as insignificant as a pair of red shoes.

CHAPTER 10:
"You look nice, Deku" Uraraka smiled, her hands held behind her back as she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet in a childish manner, looking at her green haired friend. "Is there anyone in particular you're trying to impress?" she gave him a knowing look that Izuku stuttered and blushed to.
"No! O-of course not" he immediately denied and averted his eyes when that only seemed to make Uraraka's smirk widen. Izuku knew he was a terrible liar and Uraraka could be very scary sometimes. "But um, hypothetically speaking.. if I /were/ trying to impress someone- which I'm not- but hypothetically speaking do you think they'll.. you know. Be impressed? Hypothetically."
Uraraka looked her friend up and down. Izuku's fashion sense has definitely improved since the beginning of their first year. Both Tsuyu and herself had made sure to teach Deku and Todoroki a thing or two about dressing themselves since they were completely clueless sometimes. Midoriya was wearing brown, cuffed corduroy pants with a forest green oversized short sleeve button up, a lighter green long sleeve underneath that to create layers. The red shoes were never going away though and Uraraka gave up in trying to get him to wear another pair of shoes. He looked good and Uraraka noticed how his hair was a bit neater too so he obviously put a bit of extra effort into trying to style his curls. In fact, looking around the common room it seemed that Deku wasn't the only one who put a little extra effort into their appearance today. Half the boys there looked like they were going off to a party instead of a casual class outing. Even Iida looked like he was trying out a new hairstyle. No glasses either.
"Umm, Uraraka-san?" Izuku waved his hand in front of the girl's face to get her attention. She zoned out for a bit there and she blinked, turning to face him again.
"Oh, right! Well, /hypothetically speaking/ right?" she smiled and he nodded, "I think they'll be very impressed." Deku beamed and her eyes shifted to Todoroki who was just arriving downstairs. "Oh, look! There's Todoroki-kun. Let's go talk" she grabbed Deku's hand in hers and took him with her. He looked very good! Todoroki's aesthetic was more of a simplistic/classy style with neutral colors. This time he decided to switch it up and was wearing a white t-shirt with an unbuttoned, loose fitting pale blue and white striped dress shirt over that. He had black jeans and white sneakers too. He looked very good. "Oooo~ is there anyone /you're/ trying to impress, Todoroki-kun?" Ochako teased.
"Yes."
Ochako didn't expect such a direct answer but giggled anyway at her blunt friend. Deku on the other hand didn't find it as funny.
"Is Bakugou here yet?" Shoto changed the subject and looked around the common room but didn't spot the explosion quirk user anywhere. He felt a little disappointed.
"No, Kacchan isn't here. Neither is Kirishima-kun" Izuku really tried to keep the bitterness out of his tone. He knew that they were best friends but did they really have to be glued at the hip 24/7? Deku doesn't like the way he starts to feel when he thinks of those two together but he can't help it.
"Oh" Shoto mumbled. There was an awkward silence where no one said anything for a few seconds until Uraraka couldn't stand it and broke it.
"So how are you feeling, Todoroki-kun? Are you still tired or are you feeling a bit better from earlier?" Ochako questioned. That got Izuku's attention and he turned to Todoroki with a curious expression. Was he sick? Todoroki didn't mention anything to him today. He wondered why he didn't tell him.
"I feel better, thank you. I'm excited to be going out with my friends" he smiled briefly and Izuku returned it. After that things started to go back to normal as they talked about what stores they wanted to go to and if they had anything in particular they wanted to buy. The common room was filled with brief conversation before the 'ding' of the elevator was heard and everyone turned to look at a nervous Kirishima standing on the far opposite side of a bored looking Bakugou. Izuku felt a knot form in his throat and Todoroki felt his heart skip a beat, their faces heating up a little at what girl Kacchan was wearing. He looked good. Hell, even if he was in his normal body and wore that he'd look good.
"You're here!" Mina rushed forward to hug her two friends in a crushing hug which Kirishima gladly returned. The girls may or may not be feeling smug at how everyone reacted to seeing Bakugou. Yeah, they did that.
"I said I would go with you extras, didn't I? Now let go, pinky" Bakugou groaned. She smiled wide before stepping back.
"This'll be so much fun!" Mina jumped up and down.
"Everyone please form a single file line for attendance! As class president I must make sure everyone is accounted for before we vacate school grounds" Iida made sure to grab everyone's attention by speaking loud and clear as well as waving his arms about. Where he pulled the clipboard from no one knows but Iida started to check off names in the class roster to submit to Aizawa sensei once they come back in a few hours. "Alright. Everyone is here. We can go now" he nodded in confirmation.
The class had to take the bus to go to the mall so Iida stayed by the door until everyone was inside before going in himself. Bakugou was planning to sit with Kirishima but the redhead as soon as he was in the bus went and sat beside Sero instead. Katsuki was confused since they always sit together and even Sero was looking between the pair in confusion. "You don't mind, right Bakubro?" Kirishima awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. Bakugou just shrugged and moved on to find an empty seat to which Kirishima let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding.
"What was that?" Sero questioned once Bakugou was out of earshot.
"What was what?" Kirishima turned to him.
"That. You always sit with Bakugou so why all of a sudden did you decide to sit next to me? I don't mind but I was a little caught off guard, man. You know, you've been acting weird ever since the night we played games in my room. Is everything cool?" Sero had an idea of what was happening but he wanted to hear it from Kiri himself.
"Yeah, everything's good. I just need to sort some things out for myself first" he explained and Sero nodded, leaving it at that. Kirishima appreciated that about Sero. He knew if it was Mina or Kaminari they wouldn't stop pestering him about it. Kirishima just wanted some time to hopefully figure out why he was all of a sudden feeling so weird around Katsuki.
On the other end of the bus, towards the back, Bakugou found an empty seat. Everyone else seemed to be already sitting with someone else but he didn't really mind it. Once seated, Bakugou put his elbow up on the edge of the window and looked outside. He felt someone slightly tap his shoulder though and looked up to a shy Koda. 'May I sit here?' he signed and Bakugou raised an eyebrow. He rolled his eyes and signed back 'go for it' and Koda smiled a little, quickly sitting down beside Bakugou. Aizawa did mention that because of his quirk, he may experience hearing loss in the future if he didn't take the proper precautions so Bakugou has been taking JSL classes from Koda since the beginning of their second year and developed a somewhat mutual understanding with the guy. He really wasn't all that bad, just a little quiet. And while they weren't friends friends, Bakugou knew that if he ever needed a quiet place to study or just hang out for a bit without talking, he could go to Koda's room. The same went for Bakugou. If Koda ever wanted to spar or wanted pointers to help in improving his fighting skills, Bakugou is available.
Now that everyone had a seat, the bus began to move. The ride was going to take approximately fifteen to twenty minutes so he just wanted to use the break to relax. Bakugou could tell Koda wanted to say something based on the way he would look at him every few minutes but then look away though. "What is it?" he finally asked a little less than halfway into the trip and Koda shook his head. "I know you want to say something, now what is it?"
Koda looked hesitant at first but then signed 'how are you feeling?' with a sincere look. Maybe if it was someone else Bakugou would have told them off for getting into his business but Koda was someone who earned his respect and admiration throughout their time together in UA and who he saw as an equal.
"Why do you ask?" he asked instead, a bit defensive, and Koda responded by signing 'this is a big change and I was just wondering how you were doing.' Bakugou shrugged. "It isn't something I can't handle. Besides, today is the last day of the quirk so I should be back to normal by tomorrow morning" Bakugou mumbled, adding in a "thanks" as an afterthought. Honestly speaking, Koda has been the only one who's asked him how he felt about this whole quirk situation. The rest of his classmates all just seemed to be having fun with it and while he didn't mind, it was nice to be asked.
'You're always welcome to come hang out with me and my bunny if you ever need quiet time,' Koda offered. 'He told me he misses the angry blonde boy with the warm hands" he joked. Bakugou smirked a little with a "tch, sure whatever. Tell 'im I miss the furball too" leaving his lips. After that Bakugou and Koda fell into a comfortable silence where Bakugou closed his eyes to rest for the few minutes they had left on the bus ride.
Everyone else in class 3-A never thought they'd see the day where they all wished they were in Koda's place. The anivoice boy was sitting perfectly still so as to not wake the pretty blonde that had leaned his head on the other's shoulder sometime along the trip and was now sleeping peacefully on him.

Hi! Can I request a todoroki x fem! reader x bakugou where the two guys both like reader, but she’s super oblivious! of course bakugou is mad at Todoroki and wants him to back off but todoroki is just calm and gentlemanly towards reader. Lots of competitiveness (and maybe ft. endeavor’s credit card LOL) and class 1-a thinks the love triangle is hilarious! Thank you so much!
a/n: hello!! i love this request oh my god,, and thanks again for being so patient 💓 sorry if it’s a little long, i just missed writing!!

When Shoto asked you to hang out, it came to you as a surprise. The stoic boy always seemed so focused on school. You complied and said yes, it could be fun to leave the dorms at walk around the city.
“Oi, Y/N-chan!”
You whipped your head around to see your class mate Katsuki, hands crossed over his chest and a slight scowl.
“Yes Kacchan?”
He rolled his eyes at the stolen nickname and slung his book bag over his shoulder, walking to you. You had dismissed from your last class of the day and were packing up.
“Let’s hang out sometime.”
You chuckled and grabbed your bag before facing him. He wasn’t one to give out such offers and be so forward.
“Is this a joke?”
You walked past him and into the hall, a growl emitting from his chest as he followed behind you.
“No dumb ass, I actually want to take you-“
Your phone buzzed and you held your finger up to the blond’s face, telling him to be quiet, he returned the action with a glare.
Your screen displayed that Shoto was calling you so you quickly unlocked it to answer.
“Todoroki-kun! To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hello Y/N-Chan, I just wanted to make sure we’re still on for the movie and dinner tonight.”
“Yes!” You chirped, ignoring how close Katsuki was to you, leaning down to try and eavesdrop on the conversation. “Who else is coming with us?”
There was a pause on Shoto’s end.
“J-Just us.”
“Oh okay! Sounds good, we agreed on 7 o’clock right?”
“Yes.”
“Okie dokie! I’ll meet you in the common area then! Later Sho-kun!”
You hung up and turned to Katsuki, tucking your phone into the waist band of your uniform.
“Sorry about that! Todoroki-kun wanted to make sure we were still on for tonight.”
Katsuki furrowed his brows and looked down at you.
“What do you mean.”
You laughed softly and pushed his side playfully.
“Exactly what you think it means. We’re just hanging out.”
Katsuki’s eye twitched and he let out an annoyed ‘tch’. You sighed and stepped in front of him. “Don’t get all mad at me for hanging out with him just because you don’t like him. I’m allowed to have more than one friend.”
“Friends,” He mumbled and shoved his hands into his pockets. “What are you and icy-hot doing anyway?” He asked with slight disdain in his voice.
“Just dinner and a movie,” You chirped, turning the corner to the dorm halls.
Katsuki stopped in his tracks and stared at you.
“What?” He growled. You rolled your eyes at his dramatics and kept walking.
“Dinner and a movie Kacchan, jeez have you ever hung out with a friend before?”
“That doesn’t sound like hanging out to me,” He grumbles. You raised a brow at him.
“Then what does it sound like?”
Before he could answer, a cheery Tsu hopped your way.
“Tsu-chan!” You beamed at your best friend.
“Y/N-chan!” She replied smiling up at you. “Want to go study for the quiz in Hero Law?”
You sweat dropped and nodded.
“Oh crap I totally forgot! Yes, thanks for reminding me!” You turned to Katsuki and have him a wave before heading off with Tsu to study.
“Bakugo-kun looked upset, is he okay?” She asked, peering up from under her bangs. You shrugged and entered her room after she opened the door, hopping on her incredibly comfy, hibernation perfect bed.
“I don’t know, he seemed a little ticked off to know I’m hanging out with Sho-kun tonight.”
Tsu nodded and sat on the floor in front of you.
“What are you guys doing?”
“Dinner and a movie.”
Tsu blinked and stared at you. She was quite surprised that Shoto had actually made a move after all this time. It wasn’t a secret to the class that Shoto had a thing for you. And it was also painfully obvious that Katsuki did too.
“That’s a date Y/N-chan.”
You snorted and rolled your eyes, “Yeah right, if it was a date then he would’ve said so.”
Tsu shook her head and sighed in response. Your obliviousness was too much to bare at times. It was clear who they felt about you. The two boys were quite competitive with each other to begin with, but this was a whole different ball game.
Shoto would prepare your bento-box lunch in the morning, always having it ready before you could even complain that he made you lunch again. Katsuki would offer to train with you, offering you combat advice, but it usually ended with the two of you laughing and drinking chocolate milk in recovery. Those were the subtle moments, other actions, not so much. You viewed it as simple competition between rivals, but the class new better. Those boys were head over heels for you and desperate for your attention. The day you fell asleep in class, Shoto swiped your notebook and wrote all of your missing notes for you before you could wake up. Because of this, Katsuki offered to help you study. But you had already agreed to study with Tsu and Momo. Shoto has won that round.
The day you forgot your umbrella for the field trip and Katsuki gave you his hoodie was a major win against Shoto.
To you it was just your class mates being kind, but your obliviousness has begun to be a running joke to your other peers. Kirishima always seemed to be teasing Katsuki about something and Deku was always throwing Shoto thumbs ups across the class room. You saw cute friendships, they saw hypemen and wingmen.
Once you finished studying and thanked Tsu for her help, you changed your clothes and slipped on your shoes to meet Shoto in the common area. He said it was a nice restaurant and your stomach growled at the idea of expertly made soba. You looked in the mirror at your dress and adjusted the laces of your sneakers before grabbing your purse and walking out.
“Sho-kun!” You chirped at the duo-toned haired boy as you walked towards him. He wore slacks and a sweater, a turtleneck peeking underneath. He cheeks grew red at the sight of you. It was rare for you dress in more than just leggings and a t-shirt when you out of your uniform.
“Y/N-Chan,” he sighed almost dreamily. You smiled at him brightly.
There were a few other students in the common area at this time. Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, Deku and Katsuki were seated at the coffee table playing a card game. Yet it seemed to come to a pause when you walked in the room. Deku and Kirishima looked at each other with a worried expression. Sero and Denki beamed in anticipation for the drama that was about to unfold. And Katsuki was already up on his feet and headed towards you.
Shoto blinked out of his daze and looked at the angry blond charging towards him. You turned to see what he was looking at, only to be faced with a fuming Katsuki.
“Oh Kacchan, are you winning the card game?” You smiled kindly.
“No!” Kaminari snickered.
You giggled as Katsuki turned around to shout profanities at the yellow haired boy. He huffed and looked back at you. Shoto standing behind watching the interaction with narrowed eyes.
Katsuki’s eyes were contemplative and anxious, and his words explained why.
“You look really pretty.”
You blinked, heat rising to your face.
“O-oh thank you Kacchan,” you smiled at the unexpected compliment.
“Did you tell her she looks pretty?” Katsuki snarled, glaring at Shoto.
“Well I was going to-“
“Your don’t have to Sho-kun,” you said, uncomfortable from the situation unfolding infront of you. Shoto stepped past you and towards Katsuki.
“Well,it’s obvious why she looks so pretty. She’s going out with me tonight.” A slight smirk crept on Shoto’s lips as Kaminari and Sero let out an “ooooooo”.
“Shut up you half and half piece of-“
“OKAY!” You laughed nervously and stepped in between the two boys. They looked like they were steaming enough to cause the smoke alarms to go off. You pressed your hands against their chests and pushed distance between them.
“Both of you thats enough. I get it, I don’t look like the usual photo I do when I wear my sweats, but there’s no need to get all riled up.”
The boys with the card game sighed, your obliviousness taking hold once again. You pulled your hands away and looked up at Shoto.
“Ready to go? I don’t want to be late for the movie.”
He removed his glare and his face was filled with newfound softness. He nodded and gently took your hand in his. The unexpected gesture caused you to giggle at Shoto’s chivalry but it nearly made Katsuki blow the boy up to ash.
You waved at your friends and walked out with Shoto, swinging your hands and asking if they could order an appetizer at the restaurant. Which he replied to with an of course because Endeavor’s credit card was tucked happily inside of his wallet.
Katsuki glared as he watched the two of you walk out from the window. He growled, his gaze never ending. He was filled with rage and envy as he watched you jump excitedly and laugh.
“I’m going to ask Y/N-chan out for real and then I’m going to kill that icy-hot bastard.”

THE shoes
I always think about how, if the Dad for One theory is true, it’s possible he wasn’t in Izuku’s life long enough for Izuku to remember him much/have a connection to him. This would explain why, regardless of whether or not the theory holds water, Izuku doesn’t mention his father ever — other than his fire breathing quirk, which was only relevant to him because he was quirkless.
So I’m thinking: Izuku is about 16 right now. Shigaraki is about 20. When Izuku is a baby/toddler, what is AFO doing? He’s kidnapping and grooming Tenko Shimura.
Izuku and Tenko, now Tomura, are foils. The manga revolves around their growth. They have opposite mentors from two different sides, and we watch them both as they grow to replace them. And following the MVA arc, we see their visual resemblance before Tenko is twisted into the Shigaraki we know today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s what AFO does after he kidnaps Tenko:
1. Changes his name to Shigaraki Tomura. He now shares a name with AFO, effectively making him family by name.
2. Gives him his own room, buys him things like action figures and video games (as time goes on his room is more well-stocked, so I’m assuming they were also grooming tactics).
3. Has now-Tomura call him “sensei”
3. Gives him new shoes.
Tumblr media
At this point, Tenko hadn’t worn sneakers. He wore sandals, or was barefoot. After he murders his family and runs away, he’s barefoot, due to his quirk. So OF COURSE AFO buys him shoes. But I’m talking about the kind of shoe he buys him.
Who else wore red high tops since childhood? Izuku.
Tumblr media
What shoes do they both emulate even now that they’re older? Red high tops.
Tumblr media
“But Tenko’s shoes aren’t red in that MVA panel!” Okay, yes, but Horikoshi never colors in his shoes like he does izuku’s. From the Overhaul and Gentle arcs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But they’re still red.
Tumblr media
(Similarly, Horikoshi doesn’t color in Touya Todoroki’s red hair like he does Shouto’s, even though the anime shows it’s red twice.)
But back to my argument. Tenko and Izuku are foils — so of course they could have similar character designs. But almost every other character changes shoes; Horikoshi takes the time to point out Izuku/Tenko’s shoes regularly in manga panels. And they never change them. They must have some attachment to them. Even Izuku doesn’t wear his shirts with text on them all the time like he does his sneakers. It’s less a funky design quirk and more an actual character habit.
A hair further: characters point out Izuku’s shoes. It’s not a They Just Wear The Same Clothes Because Anime thing. They have plot AND character significance. “It’s gotta be red.”
Tumblr media
So no, I don’t think this is JUST 1) a character design thing or 2) a coincidence thing or even 3) just pointing out they’re foils thing.
Me, adjusting my tinfoil hat: AFO kidnapped Tenko and warped him, intentionally or unintentionally, into a new son. Izuku and Tenko wear similar shoes because DAD bought them both their first pair.
My question is: WHEN was the last time Izuku saw his dad?

change of style
request: Hey, I was wondering if there was a chance is we could get a reaction out of Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki etc of the reader coming to school dressed an E-Girl or a Soft Girl or something like that 😂
a/n: since they do have a dress coded school, i decided to change your request just a bit! i don’t know how to implement the aesthetics into the uniforms without breaking some sort of dress code i added cottage core to this too, to mix it up a bit!
warnings: fluff and slight sexual tension but no nsfw

Izuku Midoriya.
It was all Toru’s idea. And though it was supposed to be a prank on Izuku, but it felt more like a prank on you. You didn’t really know how the conversation got there but suddenly the girls were going to dress you in cottage core attire to see Izuku’s reaction on you going out of your comfort zone a bit. A few in the class were going out that day to the park for a picnic, since the weather had been so nice lately. So they put you in a light blue, angelic-looking, dress that Momo just had lying around for some reason. The dress ended above your ankles, so you could still see the brown leather shoes which you matched it with. In your hair they put a matching light blue bow on the back of your head. To keep warm you put on a creamy white knitted cardigan, which Momo made on the spot when you asked about the slightly chilly breeze. Ochaco was in charge of putting on make up, so she went out to grab some of her stuff. When she came back she only put on very light, natural make up. But with a bit extra blush on the apple of your cheeks and on the tip of your nose.
Once it was done you looked yourself in the mirror. You looked right about ready to go to your cottage in the forest to take care of your cats and water your flowers... and you kind of... liked it?
Either way it was time to go, and the girls made you carry the picnic basket to really complete the look. And right before you were going into the common room, Mina leaned into and whispered: “Kind of looks like a wedding dress, don’t you think?” Your cheeks heated up at just the thought of that.
“Mina!”, you squealed as you watched her run away cackling.
You walked into the room last, kind of hiding behind the other girls though everyone could still see you... you stuck out like a sore thumb. Some of the girls had put on dresses too, in solidarity... well mostly because it was hot outside and you begged them to do it. But it was the fact that you looked like you belonged in a fairytale that made you stand out.
“Why are you so dolled up?”, Kirishima asked with a big smile. You were about to say something when Mina and Ochaco slapped their hands over your mouth.
“Just ‘cuz!”, they smiled.
“I take it that they forced you, then.”, he chuckled. You gave him a nervous nod. Kirishima was in many ways like the big brother you never had. He was actually the one who helped you get together with Izuku, since both of you were to nervous to say anything about it.
“It’s alright, it suits you.”, he smiled, “I’m sure Midoriya will be all over you.”, he teased.
“Shut up!”, you slapped him lightly on the arm and tried to ignore the blush creeping up on your face again. Your eyes looked around the room to try to find Izuku, and Kirishima seemed to notice.
“He’s just been out training, we’re gonna wait for him here.”, he looked to the rest of the group, “Hey! Why don’t the rest of you go set the things up at the park and Sero and I will wait for Midoriya?” Everyone agreed and the group got moving.
Once the stuff was put up in the park, right by the lake and the big oak tree, you saw Sero, Kirishima and Izuku walk towards the group. You were sitting on the rock by the lake, drinking a bottle of water to stay hydrated in the heat of the sun. When you saw him your heart skipped a beat. His curls were still damp, since he probably didn’t have time to dry his hair fully after his shower. And even though he was wearing what he usually wore there was something different... maybe it was the lighting... or the way he was looking at you. His eyes were slightly raised in surprise and his jaw was slack with his lips parted slightly. You stood up, forgetting what you were wearing as you were just happy to see him, and sprinted up to him. His slack jaw tensed up as he started to smile brightly.
“Woah, woah...”, he chuckled as you practically ran into his chest, making him stumble back a bit. Kirishima and Sero snickered as they kept on walking.
“Hi.”, you grinned.
“Hi.”, he replied sweetly, “You look... very pretty.” A pink tint dusted across his cheeks as he said so.
“Thank you.”, you smiled and took his hand, “You’re very pretty too.” The way your cheeks grew tomato red made him snort to try to contain his laughter.
“Let’s go, princess.”, he smiled and started to walk to the rest of the group with his hand still in yours. Princess... that’s a new one. You decided on the spot that it was your new favorite.

Katsuki Bakugo.
Everyone knows that Katsuki has a huge soft spot for you, but not a lot of people know that he’s not as mean as he acts and looks. At least not to you, again; he had a bit of a sweet spot for you. Yes, he could still have one hell of an attitude and he definitely had anger issues... but the important part was that he was trying for you. So he already had a soft spot for you, so of course your friends wanted to get a real reaction out of him. What if we turn the soft spot even more soft? They put you in a short, light brown, plaid skirt that flaired out and accentuated your hips. Along with that they put you in one of Katsuki’s white button ups, which you had stolen from him because it smelled like him (and you might’ve slept in it), and over that they layered a knitted sweater in a shade of light pink which was tucked into the skirt. Mina gave you a pair of her chunky white sneakers to pair with the outfit.
“You look so cute!”, Ochaco exclaimed as Mina started doing your make up.
“Guys, I don’t know if I can go out in this... he’s probably not going to react anyways.”, you sighed.
“I did not put in this much effort for you to back out now.”, Jirou stared you down.
“Exactly.”, Momo and Tsu nodded.
“Even if he doesn’t react, you look very cute!”, Toru assured you. After the girls pleaded with you, you decided to go through with it.
You walked over to the common area, where Katsuki was trying to read his book while Denki and Kirishima was playing videogames on the same couch. The way he furrowed his eyebrows to try to focus better was somehow the most adorable thing you had ever seen in your life. You looked back at the girls who were watching you from the stairs up to the dorm rooms. With a sigh, you started walking past... he didn’t even look up from his book. You looked back at the girls again and Ochaco mouthed “Plan B” at you, so you started walking to the kitchen. The thing was that you really wanted no one else to see you like this except for your boyfriend... and if you called on him, Kirishima and Denki would look up too... but you did promise the girls...
“Hey, Katsuki!”, you said from the cupboards as you tried to reach the top shelf, “Could you help me get a glass?” Katsuki looked up from his book and took a double look at you. After just a few seconds his face was completely red. After not answering for a while it caught the other boys’ attention and they looked over at him. When they saw that his face started to resemble Kirishima’s hair they looked over at you, though you didn’t notice since you were still trying to reach a glass. Denki let out a low whistle, without thinking, and at the speed of lightning a red pair of eyes stared him down. You finally looked over at them, with blushing cheeks. Katsuki was walking over to you as Denki stared at him like a scared puppy. Katsuki positioned himself behind you, one hand on your waist and one hand reaching up to grab a glass for you. He pressed a kiss to your cheek and whispered:
“Is that the shirt I’ve been looking for?”, he pulled at the collar of the white button-up.
“Maybe...”, you whispered back, quite enjoying the attention you were getting from him.
“Well... you do look really fucking good in it, but I’m gonna need that back. Come to my room later?”, he let his hand slowly slip down from your waist before taking his hand completely off of you.
“Okay.”, you choked out, now it was your turn to blush like crazy.
“Great.”, he smiled and walked back to the couch to get back to reading, “What the fuck are you looking at!?”, he shouted at the guys and they quickly looked back to their game. Well... it worked.

Shoto Todoroki
You and Shoto weren’t a very open couple, in the means that you didn’t show each other off that much. It didn’t mean that you didn’t appreciate each other, you were just both kind of awkward about it. People didn’t even know that you were dating until you casually said something about it a few months ago, even though you had dated for over a year suddenly everyone wanted to see you two together.  That’s why you were here now, in Jirou’s room. Some of the girls were looking through her warderobe for your outfit.
“Tell me why we’re doing this again?”, you sighed as you got more comfortable on Jirou’s bed.
“You don’t usually dress like this, so...”, Mina picked up a skirt, “We think that it’ll get a reaction out of your boyfriend.”
“Why do you have to get a reaction out of him?”, you flop down on your back.
“Because it’s not fair that only you get to see the super cute stuff you two do.”, Toru argued.
“Isn’t that what a relationship is, though? Being comfortable with each other?”, you sighed.
“Don’t you want to show him off a little, though? You’re dating one of the most attractive boys in UA.”, Ochaco sat down next to you on the bed.
“... maybe.”, you muttered.
“Then let’s get going, we don’t have all day!”, Momo exclaimed happily.
You actually found something that you would be semi-confident in. It was a short, tight, plaid skirt and a studded black leather belt. The skirt was dark blue and black, along with a bit of white. The top, however, was a bit harder for you to accept. It was just a black tube top, but it was very cropped and that was a little too much for you. So you went to your room and grabbed the jean jacket that Shoto had let you borrow and you had just forgotten about giving it back. When you came back Mina was ready with make up in her hands and Jirou showed you a pair of leather boots which you could borrow. With a sigh you sat down in front of Mina and let her to your make up.
After your make over the girls followed you as you walked down the stairs to the common area. You were supposed to go with Shoto to get cold soba together, so he was waiting for you there. He looked up as he saw you walk down the stairs and his jaw dropped to the floor as his eyes widened.
“Ready to go?”, you smiled innocently.
“Um... yeah... yeah, let’s go.”, he nodded.
During the entire date he didn’t look away from you, he didn’t even care if someone else was looking at you. He just wrapped an arm around you or took your hand in his. Almost like he was saying: “you can look but she’s all mine”, which if you were being honest felt a little bit nice...
When you got back at the dorms you were smiling like crazy, and even Shoto wore a small smile on his lips. You said goodnight and Shoto was about to walk up the stairs when you stopped him.
“Wait!”, you exclaimed, “Your jacket.”, you took off the jean jacket and handed it to him. This was really just an excuse to see him for a bit longer.
“Thank you but...”, he wrapped the jacket around you again and kept his hands on your shoulders, “... I think it suits you.” He pulled you in by the collar of the jacket and placed a kiss on your lips ever so softly and longingly. You kept your eyes closed for a bit after he pulled a way, which earned you a chuckle from Shoto. He gave you a little peck to your lips and this time it was your turn to chuckle.
“You looked very cute today...”, he leaned his forehead against yours, “... but don’t feel the need to dress up for me. I love you no matter what.” That was the first time he’d ever said he loved you.
“I love you too.”, you whispered as you rested your palms against his chest, “... no matter what.” He gave you another quick but loving kiss.
“Keep the jacket.”, he whispered against your lips. You watched him hesitantely pull away from you and start to walk up the stairs.
“Goodnight.”, you said.
“Goodnight.”, he replied.
Once you were in your room you threw yourself on your bed after kicking Jirou’s shoes off your feet. A squeal escaped your lips as you thought back to what just happened. A buzz from your phone interupted your wandering thoughts. Just hand me the clothes tomorrow, here are some pics ;)
It was Jirou. Along with the text a few pictures followed... of you and Shoto right now in the lobby. A smile spread across your lips as youmade sure to screenshot all of them.
