I’m having so much with the fic I’m currently working on, because I’m exploring a headcanon of Steve that’s been living in my mind rent free since forever. And that is, that Steve is so painfully practical that he, to put it simply, does things to get somewhere.

And that’s it. That’s his motivation.

I mean, he hasn’t finished high school yet and it’s already thinking of skipping college because working for his dad (that it’s canon he thinks is an asshole) is the fastest way to get a family. He doesn’t date to meet people, or to have fun; he dates to get married. Come on.

And then you have Eddie. He’s the one to buy a ticket to a concert out of the state and ends up remembering the flight, the people he met, the hours of queue and how fucking good was that burger he ate in the middle of nowhere (and he knows he’s not going to taste ever again), rather than the setlist of the actual concert.

Eddie is not interested in the finish line of things, he’s interested in the journey.

So you take this Steve, and this Eddie and make them friends. And you have this Steve bitching about not finding the one, and this Eddie rolling his eyes to the back of his skull because why the hell are you looking for the one, Steve, you’re only twenty four. And Steve is like exactly, I am already twenty four, how are you not worried about not ending up alone. And this bickering results in Steve accusing Eddie of being terrified of commitment, and Eddie replying that Steve’s unable to actually find the one because his mind is fifteen years ahead of the present.

So both refuse to share the negativity on each other’s criticism, so Eddie dares Steve to date someone just because he likes them, someone who deliberately doesn’t fill in his long list of mandatory requirements for the one. And Steve agrees, on the condition that Eddie has to actually get in a relationship that lasts more than a month, but not just fucking the same person, no: he’s daring him to emotionally commit to someone.

And after they shake their hands, willing to prove the other one wrong, Robin, who has been hearing this shit for far too long, tells them that the only way they could actually know if the other commits to their agreement (since the nuances of their dares are quite personal and intimate) is that they actually date each other.

So, it’s 3 AM and they’re both still looking at their ceiling when they realize that god fucking damnit, Robin is right.

So you see, this story is writing itself.

But when Eddie is all checked over and fine and doesn't hear from Buck he drives over to his to tell him what a god damn idiot he is

And to not do this thing where he cuts himself off from contact and spirals on his own without talking to Eddie

And that they're fine and ok

Maybe he's pulling him into a hug here?

Thank you! And, yes, of course!

Cleo is a blacksmith who Grian met after his little heist on the castle for supplies failed. She believed in his cause, so she offered to start supplying him with the weaponry he needed under the table.

She heard about the incident through Bdubs, the royal gardener who can't seem to keep his mouth shut. The two of them have been friends since they were children, and they both have a habit of gossiping, which makes Bdubs job at the castle very beneficial to the both of them.

They lost their eye to an infection as a child and had it replaced with a glass one, though they only wear it to interact with customers because they find it to be very uncomfortable. She likes telling grand stories about how she lost it, as well. She was a soldiers, she was a pirate, she fought a dragon or some other manner of monster, etc etc. Their story changes every time, and they enjoy watching people struggle to figure out if it is the truth or not.

Both of her parents, as well as her grandfather, died to the same disease that took her eye, so she was raised by her grandmother. She inherited her business from her grandmother after the elderly woman retired. The two of them live right out of the shop; there is a room in the back that has everything they need in it.

Her and Gem have an. interesting relationship. Gem knows they are up to some shady business that is in some way related to Grian, but she can never prove it; and Cleo thinks it is too fun to tease her with just enough information that she knows she's right but still can't pin them with anything. Gem finds her frustrating and irritating, but she also respects her for her strong personality.

When Cleo first met Etho she thought he was insufferable because he was silent and hard to read, but as they spent more time together, she came to think of him as her best friend within the resistance. She often supplies him with the more intricate pieces for his creations, the parts he is unable to forge himself or is too lazy to. He brings them plans, and they make stuff for him. This includes parts for weaponry and music boxes alike.

Cleo is in no way a fighter. She can wield a sword, but just well enough to defend herself and nothing more. If it came down to it, she would be far more likely to run away than engage in a fight. She is not involved in any of the active resistance efforts, she very much is just there to be their arms dealer.

More Random Listener Headcanons I Wrote Down Part Two

This one accidentally got very hobby-focused lol

Sunshine is not the best at cooking but they excel at making dessert. Crème Brûlée, Pralines, ice cream, you name it, they can do it. They once made one for Elliott on his birthday and now all he ever wants for his birthday is for them to make him another and he always loves them. He especially loves watching them prepare and make them.

Bestie does some form of martial arts. When they were still friends, Blake used to volunteer for them to try out moves on him, not in an 'I want to be close' kind of way, he just genuinely loved to see how much strength they had.

Angel likes watching crime series. When they started watching them with David, he kept saying "You get scared by horror movies but not by this?!" And they just chuckled and continued to show him the most morbid episodes.

Cutie loves watching old movies from the fifties or sixties. They like the way they talk and dress. They once bought clothes for an outfit inspired by them and Geordi subsequently lost his mind when he saw them in it: "god, they look hot, damn, I mean, I didn't particularly enjoy those movies but damn, they look incredible" etc.

Doc loves making candles. In all shapes, forms, and smells. They had to explain to Hush how they work and where the wax goes. Now he keeps asking questions about why they don't just use magic to make them, yet is absolutely enchanted by watching them do it "Why are you doing it like this? Why did you choose that scent? What does that sigh mean?".

My Love (Anton's Listener) is not the biggest fan of winter but they loooove ice-skating on lakes. And Anton gladly joins them every time and is surprisingly good at it as well. They typically just hold hands while going in big circles but Anton encourages them to try out new things like spins and jumps.

Seer Obscura (granted, I haven't listened to all of their audios yet so this is purely based on what I know so far…meaning vibes lol). They seem like the type to write poems. Longer narrative ones, similar to old tragic poetry. They told Morgan once, w/o meaning to really, but he was surprised by his own strong curiosity to read one at some point.

Spouse (James' Listener) loved to have speech and debate matches with their friends. Just an evening where they randomly debate different topics over drinks and snacks. James was hesitant to join in at first but he absolutely loves watching his spouse drag their friends through the proverbial mud with their arguments and he sometimes joins in now too.

Treasure loves cemeteries. They learned all kinds of old traditions surrounding how to behave while in a cemetery and love going to different ones to just sit there and draw. They mentioned it in passing to Porter who just raised an eyebrow but secretly felt a strong "damn, that's hot" on the inside that he couldn't really explain.

I'm also gonna defend Darlin here because while the shade thing Milo did before their meeting may not have caused anything but legal repercussions for the pack, him going against Department regulation during the Inversion and zapping himself to get the ward taken down was INCREDIBLY stupid and DEFINITELY could have endangered the pack, and yet again he received not even a cursory "hey we got lucky but that could have been super bad for both you and all of us!"

The truth is that Milo had absolutely no way of knowing what the situation in the ward was or how many shades were in there; fortunately there were enough empowered people outside to take down the rest of the shades but VERY VERY EASILY those people could have been overwhelmed and a shit ton of shades could have escaped into Dahlia and killed thousands of innocent people!

And no that didn't happen. But guess what else didn't happen! QUINN ATTACKING THE PACK! These are both characters whose impulse to take care of a dangerous situation themselves COULD HAVE harmed people they care about, but in NEITHER case did that happen

So why is Darlin the only one who gets publicly chewed out for it? And even worse, if Milo was getting a pack talking to, it would be his family who he loves and he knows cares about him calling him a dumbass. David had Darlin stand up in a room full of people they don't know very well and think don't care about them and let those people go off on them for a HYPOTHETICAL DANGER THAT DIDN'T EVEN AFFECT THE PACK AT ALL IN THE END

There's some deep-threaded favoritism in this pack and it's not always obvious but when it is, no one wants to talk about it!

See how many people in this argument are defending Milo and downplaying his actions and therefore the consequences of those actions because of the way he's characterized and how his story is told and continuing to prove my point.

While yes, there are valid points to defend Milo and I will concede to those, at the same time why is your first reaction to defend him rather than seeing things from Darlin's perspective?
