Slashing Through Your Trauma Pt 1

It was complicated enough going back to college, after everything that happened the first time. Then, the fact that she had not yet tapped into her own healing, and there she had been, back in one of the most triggering environments that existed in her world, finishing her degree to learn how to heal others. But, Hallie managed.

For a time, she didn’t feel comfortable going by her own name, but once she did get around to the healing portion of her personal evolution, Hallie McDaniel was ready to be secure in being Hallie McDaniel again. Then one day, she became Hallie McDaniel, PsyD. And after some time, she became Hallie McDaniel, Ph.D.

She traveled for lectures, wrote books, did scientific research, and every now and then, when she wasn’t obsessing over high-profile criminal cases, helped with lower-profile ones. “This is a horror movie in the making!” She heard Mickey’s voice say one night and she looked around the apartment and began her triple checks of all of the potential entries and hiding spaces if anyone was already inside. It was just her.

Hallie opened the top of her night shirt in the mirror and looked at her scar. She should not still be here. A lot of factors went into her now standing in the mirror, looking at herself.

1. Killers are often not as talented as they think they are. A single stab wound, in just the right place and she’s dead. A single stab wound slightly off from just that right place, and she has a better chance of survival. 2. Blood loss could have killed her, but after the guards never checked in, when detectives were sent to search, she had not yet enough to kill her. But, she did not have a lot of time. 3. There was no killer to check that she wasn’t alive. The killers went to square off with Sidney, and both died that night. 4. There were no copycats to chase after the dream of killing her, because she was part of a small, exclusive group that people didn’t know about.

Hallie had survived the killings, and she was able to receive protection specifically for the fact that it had already been proven that copycats may try to hunt again. When she had the chance to recover physically, with a scar and a lasting but treatable respiratory situation, Hallie McDaniel had survived. She was never quite right again.

Sometimes, she found herself perusing the sites where people glorified her friends’ murderers and romanticized her presumed death. There were people who got something out of thinking about Mickey killing her. People who were obsessed with it. She found herself reading their message board posts and trying to desensitize herself to the recoil of finding things like that. Sometimes, she found herself studying them for personal reasons. She knew that Mickey had found Billy Loomis’s mother on message boards like these. Were some of these people also potential killers?

And even more importantly, were some of these people potential Ghostface killers? She was unable to stop obsessing about whether or not some version of the killer may find her. That inability to let it rest led her to traveling to try to find survivors, in areas where there had been suspicious happenings of murder, just to see if they by chance escaped Ghostface or someone like him. This became her passion outside of her work, and something she kept extensive research on.

This was private work, but it caused her to have to relive her attack and revisit her time with the friends she had met in college and thought she might have for the rest of her life.

Even though she made her decision to come out of witness protection to get to her therapist journey, she kept off the radar. After learning in the news that Cotton Weary had been found and murdered, the level of panic that shot through her was indescribable. Her fears were coming true. There was another killer in a Ghostface mask hunting.

She had not remained in Ohio after the murders, though she did often look into crimes there, as though there was still a killer lingering. She had made herself comprehensive reports on each of the killers that she knew of so far from everything that she could find out about them. She had no plans to ever return to Ohio or ever go to California.

Even as big as it was, knowing Woodsboro was there made the thought of it small. Too small to hide. But, she didn’t want to continue living in her home in Philadelphia, either. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania was beginning to feel too close to Ohio, considering her mounting fears.

The press was romanticizing yet another series of movies surrounding the Stab movie in production, and when she saw Sidney Prescott winding up in the middle of it, Mickey’s voice said in her mind, “She’s still the star!” And Hallie bought herself an RV as soon as she could and began heading away from California and a little further from Ohio, too.

She was on her way into New Jersey when she learned of a place with a local legendary killer who “Always comes back,” and well, that sounded like the thing she knew about Ghostface. Sidney would kill them and another would arise in his place. “Crystal Lake, I guess I’m coming to visit you..”

Request: hey sorry i have one more billy request lol - could you do one where the y/n is really soft and cute w/ everyone, comes across as naive, so everyone is really shocked that she's always hanging w/ Stu + Billy considering how rough + chaotic they are (1/2)but in private, they just absolutely love coddling her, they have little horror movie nights where they just get her snacks and swaddle her in blankets, and cute sleepovers and she's always sitting in someones lap, etc. (2/2)

Everyone in school knew who you were, you were essentially popular, but in your own right. You weren’t a cheerleader, or a mean girl- in fact you were the opposite. You were the nicest girl in town. No one had anything bad to say about you, except maybe that some people hated that others liked you, yet you were still nice to those people. You were nice to literally everyone, and everyone would think you’d be dragged into the popular girl friend group or something, but in reality…

“Y/N, you coming over tonight to watch Friday the 13th?” Stu asked you, wrapped his arms around your shoulders, leaning over your shoulder to look at your face. You smiled at him.

“Of course! Which one are we watching?” You inquired. You were sat with some other students who were in your last lesson, all of you working together on the homework being set. They were all staring at Stu, Billy not far behind, no one used to them being your best friends yet, despite it being quite a while since your friendship with the pair had blossomed. Sure you had a bunch of friends, but no one could deny that those two were your closest.

“Thought we’d start from the beginning.” Billy suggested. “That way if we finish it and want to watch another we can watch the next movie.”

“Sounds good! Can’t wait!” You told them. Stu gave you a little squeeze before Billy pushed him off to give you his own hug before the pair were off to cause some mischief. You turned back to your table, seeing the same reaction as usual- surprise. You just shrugged, and turned the subject back to the homework.

When the final bell rang, you walked to your locker, putting things in it as well as taking things out, before hands covered your eyes, and you sighed playfully. “Guess who?” Billy asked you, mimicking a voice. You chuckled, thinking.

“Uhh…. Oh! Chucky!” You guessed, Billy removed his hands, and you quietly cheered for yourself as Billy put his arm around you walking with you out the building where Stu was waiting with the car, him driving you three to Billy’s house to start your movie marathon. As soon as you arrived at the house, the ritual began; Billy got snacks started, Stu started piling up all the blankets and pillows in Billy’s bedroom, and you went and found the right movie in the large collection, and when everything was ready, you all found your spot, you being between the two, Billy turning off the lamp, the curtains shut tight, the room pitch black other than the television as it showed the opening of the movie. You had one of the boy’s arms hooked with yours, the bowl of popcorn in your lap so everyone could reach. You already knew that you’d end up watching most of the franchise, including Freddy Vs Jason, and that whenever a girl without a top on popped on screen both boys would cover your eyes jokingly, Stu exclaiming ‘boobs!’, and that you’ll end up having a sleepover like you usually did, though you weren’t concerned since Billy would let you borrow some of his clothes to sleep in like he always did. And you wouldn’t have it any other way. Just you and your boys and your slashers.

I was stuck at work and thinking about horror movies and DoL so...horror movies I think the diff characters would like:

Alex likes the Friday the 13th series but their favorite is Jason X. Likes Freddy vs Jason but hasn't seen a single Nightmare on Elm Street movie.

Avery insists they don't like horror movies because they're too low-brow. They argue on the internet about what the best Saw trap is. Also likes The Collector but the scenes with insects freak them out. Will make you watch Terrifier with them. You can cling to Avery if you get scared, but that's it. Also makes you marathon all the Hellraiser movies with them, but will have their hand down your pants, or guide your hand down theirs, during the more boring entries.

Bailey likes Halloween. Has seen all the Halloween movies but only consider the 1978 and 2018 films as cannon. Doesn't like the RZ Halloween. Likes the Creep movies, thinks Creep 2 is better than the first. Sometimes start humming the Peach Fuzz song without realizing it.

Eden's a fan of the classics; Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, Friday the 13th. Not a fan of Nightmare on Elm Street but has seen them all.

Great Hawk The Birds will not watch movies with you. Will sit next to you and preen.

Kylar loves horror movies, even if they get freaked out. Loves The Boy, obviously. Was devastated to learn The Boy 2 didn't have Brahms in it. Quotes Candy Man on the regular. Corpse Bride is their go-to feel-good Halloween movie. They love Trick 'r Treat. Will mention the 'rules of Halloween' as if it's common knowledge. Really liked Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and almost cried at the end credit scene.

Leighton likes the Child's Play franchise, specifically Bride Of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. Not a fan of the remake. Big fan of IT, both the original and the remake. Watches Carrie whenever a school dance is coming up. Summer of 84 is a recent favorite.

Remy isn't the biggest horror movie person but they have a soft spot for the original Texas Chainsaw. Also liked The Ritual.

Robin doesn't like horror movies but if you made them pick one it would either be Beetlejuice or Franken Weenie. Are those horror movies? No, but that's as close as Robin gets to horror. Might enjoy the start of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon but when it gets to the actual killing parts of the movie, Robin is hiding behind their hands.

Whitney says their favorite horror movie is Saw but it's the 1974 Black Christmas. Watches Nightmare Before Christmas every year, but no one knows that. Has seen all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, marathons them when they're in a mood. Loves the Scream movies. Really liked Hellfest and tries to get you to watch it with them. They won't warn you about any of the triggering content. Might try to pin your arms so you can't cover your eyes during the more gruesome kills. Loves Jennifer's Body, for horny reasons. Same with Ginger Snaps.

Wren is a Coraline fan. It's not a horror movie, but it's their go-to Halloween movie. Aso likes Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Trick 'r Treat, and Hellfest.

My Ranking of the Friday the 13th films

*note* This is just my silly opinion. If you don't agree, that's cool. This is just how I would rank them from worst(11) to best(1).

11. Jason Goes to Hell--the whole Jason "possessing" people thing was dumb and made no sense.

10. Jason Takes Manhattan--none of the characters were likable and Remy is one of the weaker final girls from the bunch. I will give it points for the soundtrack though.

9. Freddy vs Jason-- I know this is a controversial opinion, but this one left much to be desired. The special effects have not held up and the whole storyline is dumb. It suits better as a Nightmare film instead of a Friday the 13th film.

8. Jason X-- this Friday has some of the worst characters of the franchise. The only reason it isn't lower on my list is because the kills are all pretty creative and the story itself is kind of cool.

7. A New Beginning-- the "twist" of Jason not being the killer and the whole implication that Tommy was the "new Jason" and nothing really coming of it really spoiled this one. All of the characters except for Reggie were annoying

6. The New Blood-- commonly referred to as "Carrie meets Jason". I really liked Tina as a character, but this movies flaw lies in the ending. That's all I'll say about that.

5. The Final Chapter-- good kills. good characters. But the ending really holds this movie down.

4. Part 2-- Jeanie is a great final girl, but I really disliked them killing off OG Final Girl Alice in the first few minutes of the film...also the implication that Jason kills the dog is just a "no" from me. I know that the dog is shown in the "jump scare" scene towards the end of the film, but most people consider that scene to be a dream.

3. Friday the 13th(1980)-- The original. Great kills. Great characters. Great story. Great "jump scare" but they ruined it with the actual ending and with the scenes where nothing is going on.

2. Part 3-- The one where Jason gets his mask and becomes the hockey masked killer we all know and love. Despite Chris Higgins' annyoing screaming, she does try the hardest to "kill" Jason.

and my favorite Friday the 13th film,

1. Jason Lives-- I liked this continuation of the story and often consider it to be Part 5 and that "A New Beginning" is a separate timeline. I liked all of the characters and the kills were great. This one also features music from the likes of Alice Cooper. This was actually the first Friday the 13th film I ever saw.
