Headcanon for my AU where Sofia asked Cedric to be her dad.

Cedric often sneaks into Sofia's bedroom when everyone's asleep to hug and kiss her good night. Some nights he feels like saying "I'm sorry I have to do this, love," as he can't always do it and it's a very sneaky process, they try to be quiet and he never stays long in case Baileywick or Miranda come in to check on her. Everyone knows they're very close, but there's still no good reason for him to be in her room at night. He's sorry about everything as a whole, he hates how their relationship has to be like this. His heart would yell from the rooftops that Sofia is his daughter and he's her dad, but it just isn't feasible in their current situation.

If he could, he'd take her in completely, tuck her in every night, read her stories, all of the activities Fathers do with their little girls, but their father/daughter time must be confined to his workshop, and occasionally her room.

I’m new to Tumblr, and wanted to make a quick post offering my introduction! I’m Nora, I’m 19, English, and my pronouns are she/her! I have an express interest in all things disturbing, grotesque and erotic, but I maintain a bow in my hair and a smile on my face <3. I love arthouse and weimar avant garde, and I collect physical media (consisting of vinyls, cassettes, reel to reels, CDs, VHS, film reels, Blu Ray, DVDs, LaserDisk, 4k, and collectible novels and hardbacks). I also collect butterflies, coinage, vintage cameras, pens, art, vintage postcards and letters, cigarette boxes, vintage furniture, matchstick boxes, and various miscellaneous nicknacks such as jewellery boxes, fine china, bakeware, silverware or calendars. Whatever I can find, really! I collect a lot of erotic material also, such as pinup playing cards and risqué 70s VHS content. I’m passionate of wine and alcohol, as well as classic literature, modern prose and poetry, tea, theatre, composition, vintage fashion (particularly spanning the 40s to the 60s), and I’m somewhat of an art collector and auteur. I paint, write poetry and chapter exerts, plays scripts, prose and political think pieces. I align myself with Trotskyism, I have an interest in history (particularly Chinese dynasties, WW2, the Irish civil war, the Napoleonic era and the Angkor Empire), and I play the violin, piano and saxophone. I’m a hopeless romantic, and have an extreme affinity for anything mint flavoured. I try and photograph everything and anything, and I like to keep an ongoing stream of consciousness in my diary.

I feel a kindred-ship with almost everyone I meet, and wept tears alongside Du Maurier, and spent many a night reading the banned works of Forster under my bedsheets with a torch. I channeled Kate Bush in my youth, and now fancy myself more of a Gaitskill. I love to love, I dream of love, my internal monologue now follows the fractured chapters of Rainald Goetz’s “Rave” in style and contents. I love to party, I frequent nightclubs and I smoke Marbolo and I wonder if pretension will ever have men love me more. I pour over literary and art magazines, a huge stack of Sleazenation, Mubi notebook and Granta Magazine now fills my bedside table. I feel an intimacy with every artist mentioned, and occasionally I listen to the vinyl of experimental sounds from Gus Van Sant that came along with Notebook 4 and think of him as a little boy. I think of sex often, violent and graphic, just as I do soft and gentle things as a hand touches mine by chance in my local library. BIOGRAPHY NOTES.

sofia ortiz was born into a family that cared a lot about family. one couldn't go anywhere without running into a member of the family, whether a sibling or a cousin, aunt or an uncle.

the memories that sofia holds about growing up always involved a surplus of food, lots of laughter and good times with the people that she loved, yet it was never filled with all the same luxuries other families had and that she did notice.

growing up she was seen as the baby of the family, even after her youngest brother, max was born, she was still the baby of the family.

she did well in school, though nowhere well enough to get a full ride scholarship anywhere. she graduated just enough to be adequate in terms of her education but where she really thrived was in the kitchen.

sofia was rarely found not in the kitchen. having grown up around food and her grandparents owning an authentic restaurant in briar ridge for the beginning of her life, she found a lot of happiness in cooking. it brought happiness to others and herself - which she considered a win win.

athletics never came naturally to sofia and will absolutely flinch if a ball is thrown towards her but she doesn't turn away from the hot flames of a kitchen stove top.

though she didn't go to cooking school like most chefs did, sofia learned from her family. each recipe she learned was passed down for generations and she kept them close to her heart because of how much they meant to her.

when sofia was younger and the restaurant her parents owned was sold, she didn't think much about it. she was far too young to understand anything that was happening at the time and even when she got older, no one tried to help her understand anything, because to them, she was the baby.

debt free on her own, sofia had been quietly saving money while living at home and helping take care of the family home to buy the restaurant back into the family. once she had finally figured out what all had happened with it, she dedicated herself to saving enough money to getting the current third party owners to sell.

she is currently in the negotiation portion of everything and has yet to tell her family what she is doing. sofia doesn't have a ton of clue what she is doing but she knows that she can't let the restaurant not be in the family a day longer.

A kindhearted girl with a lot of anxiety, but is not afraid to speak her mind. over the while she has remained in Twisted Wonderland, changes have been happening to her, and not your normal changes. The most obvious one is her hair's sudden growth spurt, from short sleek cut to long and fluffy curls. who knows what more awaits her. Her closest relations are with the Pomefiore boys, almost seeing them as a second family, as often as she visits you can go ahead and call Pomefiore her second home too. They helped her the most to settle in to this world, especially Vil, where eventually something started to grow and bloom between the two~

since early day lore keeps being referenced, here are some good early qsmp lore vods to watch if you're ever curious about what all went down:

any day 1 pov: really good introductory content (obviously), even for the lore. there’s a lot of cutscenes from that specific day iirc as well which i always think are beneficial to watch! also everyone’s first reactions to cucurucho/osito bimbo are fucking hilarious

roier, day 4: explains his and osito bimbo’s dynamic, they spend a large part of the day together.

roier, day 5: the betrayal the day of spreens betrayal, self explanatory. this is also the day we get the book from osito bimbo where it calls roier "0037"

any day 7 pov: egg's introduction morse code transmission about an “experiment,” the day the original eggs got adopted, shows how the attitude toward the eggs has changed since then, possibly could help explain some of the family dynamics?? at least how they function and treat the kids

roier, day 10: osito bimbo makes it's return but now it's different, (sort of) the day cucurucho officially takes osito bimbo's place

slime or roier, day 16: tilin's death the day of tilin's death, ultimately had a lot of impacts on various characters on the island like slime, roier, and quackity, for example.

slime, day 20: avenging juanaflippa slime tries to get flippa another chance at life by forcing a reset of all the eggs lives, meaning he goes after and targets the other player's eggs.

day 21: "save the baby" quest aka the first egg kidnapping/disappearance (continued in day 22 due to server maintenance). a rescue mission given to the islanders via egg tasks to go retrieve their eggs!

day 22 (slime, mariana, roier, bbh, quackity, foolish, jaiden, philza): juanaflippa's custody trial and revival really fucking funny but also a part of the servers history that i feel like got brushed over too fast. confirms the federation can give extra lives to the eggs if they are so willing and some other stuff.

luzu, day 24: final (physical) arin appearance explains why arin was there, what his purpose is, and how the codes are related to him. can also been seen in foolish and bbh's vod from this day.

foolish, day 26: introduction to leo’s “friends” and a few island entities, the founding of the theory bros (now ordo theoritas) which can also be seen in max and bad’s pov that day!

day 27: the funeral a funeral is held for all the dead eggs (trump, tilin, and flippa) and i believe it's the first time the federation allows parents to talk to their children after their death. for this day, most pov's do go to the funeral service, but only parents of the dead eggs (quackity, slime, mariana, and maxo) get to see their children.

anyones pov, day 34: “the countdown begins, 6 days left.” codes intercept the ducks transmission (again?) and alert the parents that the eggs will die/disappear in 6 days. we know now this obviously isn't true but still a lore-ish day

roier, day 34: even more osito bimbo content! the day when osito bimbo tells roier more about the federation, such as the existence of the "host" and how it has a specific set of duties it must follow/complete.

quackity, day 36: quackitys interrogation & las casualonas debut disguised, roier and vegetta interrogate quackity about his plans regarding the eggs (which iirc was a rumor started by roier saying he was going to murder them) and the island.

maxo, day 50: sofias creator visits maxo important for current lore seeing as the person who gave him said instructions is now known to be a part of the revolution etoiles was recruited into.

Your focus is set on his lips, watching him speak but the words barely registering to your ears, “yeah babe, roommates got it.”

“Y/N I'm serious, I'm not ready to come out to Sofia yet,” he says.

“Benj,” you say setting your luggage on the ground so you can put your hands on his shoulders to comfort him, “you don't need to come out until you're ready but everything you've told me about Sofia makes it seem like she would have no problem with you being gay… and besides, she's living in San Francisco with her best friend are you sure they are just ‘roommates’.”

Benji laughs at your joke, his body relaxing from your touch, “it's been so hard keeping this part of my life a secret from her, I mean we've been together for over a year and all I want to do is talk to Sofia about my amazing boyfriend.”

“Well can your amazing boyfriend get one last kiss before we have to play straight for the weekend?” You smirk with your eyes glancing down to his lips again.

Benji looks around to make sure no one would see you and smiles, leaning in to kiss you sweetly.

“Come on, if we don't get up there soon Sofia is gonna report us missing,” he says feeling a bit more relaxed.

“You're joking right? She wouldn't actually report us missing? You texted her when we got to the airport, when we were boarding the plane, when we landed and when we got into our uber,” you question.

He just laughs, kissing you one more time before you head up to his sister's apartment where you make your introductions.

You and Benji are setting your bags down inside when you overhear Gabi whisper to Sofia, “when did your little brother get so hot?? And how is he roommate so hot too??”

“Gabi you are not allowed to hit on Benji or his roommate,” you hear Sofia snap which makes you smile to yourself.

This was sure going to be an interesting weekend.

I wanna spend a moment on Ivanovich, head of the crime family Goncharov, Katya, and Andrey are all a part of.

First off, Willem Dafoe. Brilliantly cast. There’s a light in Ivan’s eyes that I don’t think you could get from anyone else, and his delivery is always just...spot on.

But about the man now.

Ivan is a monarch without a kingdom. A patriarch evicted from his home. Throughout his screen time on film, he tries to portray it as otherwise, describing the family's move as a "tactical choice", a "financially driven decision" - it's all a front. He hasn't been able to go from being the USSR's biggest and meanest arms smuggler to a cafe owner humbly.

For some members of his group, this is a chance at a new life. Even has Ivan schemes and plans to angle himself to power in Venice, people like Katya, Goncharov, and Andrey are all living their own lives for a bit. Goncharov works the bar. Katya is a journalist. Andrey is picking up being a Gondolier. For Ivan, the idea that any of them have a genuine desire to leave this game of power never crosses his mind. He's always looking for the next job, the next domino to topple.

He treats Goncharov like a son, frequently outright stating so as well. This behavior, of course, only lasts as long as Goncharov obeys his orders and agrees to carry out his plans without question - and at the start of this extremely long film, that's what he does. Although Goncharov enjoys his life as a barista, he has no illusions about it being a way of life - there are jobs to be done. Pieces to take off the board - and Ivan knows the game.

At least, Ivan thinks he does.

After our introduction to our main tragic heroes, Gonch, Katya, Sofia and Andrey, we are led to Ivan's office. The level of faux power here is...palpable. A delicately carved wooden chair and desk set in a room with peeling wallpaper and cracked windows. A bookshelves filled with a handful of titles - all charred from the burning of the Family's manor. It's the same with everything else around the room. Paintings with blackened frames and shattered glass, ornate chests spattered with dried blood from the firefight as they left.

For all intents and purposes, their lives ended that day - but Ivan refuses to let go of the past.

His original speech is an impassioned rally to his most loyal inner circle - asking them to begin slipping into the local government and people. See what is needed, what is wanted, and who can supply -

And as he raises his arms, proclaiming the Family's rebirth from fire...

He's shot through the gut. More blood across the ashen chests and books.

He survives this unfortunately - but I think the fact that he still doesn't back down, even wounded, speaks volumes about the man. He's going into shock and he's still giving orders, telling Goncharov to tighten security, tasking Andrey with gathering info about possible enemies, and asking Katya to interrogate the family for moles.

That stubbornness, that need for control - it ends up being the death of him. When Gonch eventually defies him, leaving Icepick Joe alive, Ivan completely loses it. Sofia and Andrey both lose their lives by his hand - *and he frames Gonch before tossing him into the fucking ocean.* When both he and Katya come to confront him, leaving a trail of blood and bullets in their wake...we see what Ivan looks like without all of his bravado.

So much of Ivan's pomp and cruelty is driven by the idea that *he is on top*. Even someone as dangerous, as efficient, and unstoppable as GONCHAROV follows his every order - he MUST be powerful. Unconquerable.

And then....he isn't. When they find him, he is rummaging through his desk looking for a gun - we've seen it a couple times. Ivan's had a couple moments of "weakness" as he calls it. Where the memories of losing his wife, his home - his legacy - overwhelm him and he considers taking himself out - and it's another one of those moments.

He has no one in his corner to catch him. No one to keep him safe. No one who trusts him.

It was...cathartic, almost, watching him crawl on his hands and knees, begging his former bodyguards for mercy. Making empty promises, crying, wailing - Gonch has none of it.

Without a word, Goncharov picks him up. Grabs him by his wounded side and sits him on his makeshift throne. Tidies Ivan's suit with a gun to his head and puts his hat on - and then Gonch goes back to join Katya.

We don't know who eventually fires. There's not a word said for a whole five minutes. Our last moments with Ivan...we see the fires through his eyes. Reliving his worst moments, watching everything he cared about being ripped away from him, over and over again - mirroring what he's done to Katya and Gonch.

And then a gun is fired, and the story of Ivan ends.

The man, ultimately, is a monster who chose to inflict his suffering upon those around him. He HAD family still, people he trusted, people who cared about him - and though his words were always honeyed, he was never afraid to put those who loved him in his line of fire.

Let's talk about the car scene and the introduction of the Rina cue. The chemistry in Josh and Sofia's performances is powerful enough to really draw the audience into that scene, but the Rina cue is what makes it magical on a whole new level (this scene is the truest example of Disney magic in this season, imo). It starts gently, nearly inaudible, and softly builds as Gina clarifies to Ricky (and herself, really) that she truly meant that he brings something special to the theater space. Then it enters the primary melody when she kisses his cheek, highlighting the unexpected yet tender nature of her doing so. Finally, the countermelody takes over, slowly releasing the musical tension as Ricky slowly processes what just happened. This music strongly communicates that something really unexpected, really sincere, and really special just happened.

I remember watching this scene for the first time in 2019 and being shocked that I hadn't heard that music used in the show yet, since it was the most beautiful piece of the score. I was intentionally listening for it to show up again for the rest of the season, only for it to be used once more in S1 in another scene between Ricky and Gina. I thought that choice was peculiar at the time, since there was another ship that was the "main ship" of that season.... so why would the most beautiful and tender leitmotif only be used twice, and why would it only be used in scenes between Ricky and Gina? Well, we now know why it's both so beautiful and only used for Rina scenes! It was literally written with more intention and for Ricky and Gina per Tim's instruction.

Also, that this scene finishes out the episode really maintains the poignancy of that scene. There were two other major couples introduced in this episode (MikeJenn and Seblos), yet Ricky and Gina were the ones who finished out the episode. The real cliffhanger of the episode is the voicemail from Principal Gutierrez, so that scene could have concluded the episode instead and been swapped with the final car scene.... that's actually a very common story structure on this show, which is why it's so unique that the episode ends with something more sincere and emotionally resonant. I really think that narrative choice shows that there's a shift in this scene. Something really meaningful just happened, and the audience is allowed to really feel it and understand it as something deeper than just a narrative thread to create drama.
