Listen!
There is something super sweet and healing and hopeful about Gale, "I was groomed and still don't realize it and had 'sex' with the Goddess of Magic via mental/spiritual/astral projection regularly. Also, I'm kind of addicted to magic." Deciding to approach you first to flirt with "You being all sweaty after battle is so fucking hot."
Because it's Real. It's physical. Yeah, it's horny, but it's the realization that the mortal realm can be equal to the godly one, if not superior, despite it being different. Like, he's not Losing something by not being with a God and he can heal.

wilbur soot's statement is the furthest it can be from an apology. its vague, baseless, lacks Any sort of accountability, and feels like some shit chatgpt made up. two pages, four paragraphs and... Not a single Im Sorry. and to think i expected any better of him and i REALLY DID. his response to his other mild controversies were genuine and decent at best. this just lacks Everything. i read the first two sentences and my eyes rolled to the back of my fuckin head
disregarding that the way he downplays his own abuse astounds me. because WE KNOW EVERYTHING. we've heard from the victim and there were Witnesses. you say you were snobbish, disrespectful and selfish, but aside from the biting thing; do you ever address that time you pinned her down to claim you were stronger than her although knowing shelby has gone through past sexual assault? how you weaponized her safe word? how you locked her up in your house for days? how you never cleaned up over yourself and made her do all the work? how you gaslit her and her friends and Humiliated her in front of them ????? no amount of therapy or change you've claimed to have gone through can excuse any of your vile behaviours ESPECIALLY when it comes WITHOUT an apology. you cry about how you've changed to us but you don't care at all! because it was all about fame and money to you, right? us and our words mean so little to you, right?
you could've taken more time to polish this and to come from a place of genuinity and none of us would have complained. rather you put out some flat disingenuous slop and expected us to eat it up. No! youve lost your devoted fanbase wilbur. if you didn't want your shitty actions to come out you shouldn't have been a shitty person in the first place.
whatever . i have more to say but i dont want to waste my words on him. im so so fucking disappointed in that man and i hope to never see his face on the internet ever again . to think i spent the last 3 years and more just blindly supporting and loving his music and content without thinking anything else of it .... i feel so sick . I feel so so sick
sending all the love and support to shelby, lexie, rhana, sophie, and to anyone and all who have been deeply hurt by his actions in any way whatsoever

There is mass systematic sexual violence being committed against Ugyhur women in these concentration camps as a 'torture tactic'-I have read horrifying reports and details about their many experiences -being violated over and over again and it's just horrifying -these accounts are something I will never forget reading about because it is truly despicable what has been done to them. And the fact that the Chinese government STILL refuses to acknowledge what they have done -and deny these 'allegations,' I hope more people learn about what has been happening in these camps where a genocide is occurring against Uyghur people.
Here are some more links to some articles for folks to look into this and with some more information about what has been happening:

Posting because I’ve seen no one saying this but I am an asexual Angel Dust truther, especially in the context of his relationship with Husk.
In the show, Angel Dust is terribly abused by the sex industry, and only expresses affection in a sexual way, while also being forced into it by contract. Husk immediately recognised Angel’s obnoxious flirting and pushing of boundaries as a mask, which he’d likely done himself in the form of hot-headedness and gambling. Even if he were interested, he seems to know that Angel is traumatised, and refuses to respond to provocation even though he knows Angel is trying to connect.
Anyway I love the way their dynamic is written, they do not fuck 😌 thank you for coming to my TED talk

SA Mention //
The cantarella scene in Utena is so so so good and nearly every bit of it has been analyzed over the years (for good reason!). But can we take a moment to talk about how the music skips?
Right after Anthy suggests she poisoned Utena's cookies. The background music starts skipping. It's an obvious loop too, once you hear it, it's hard to unhear. The music doesn't pick back up until after Utena admits to poisoning the tea, AFTER the spinning red rose. It picks back up at "The tea is delicious".
At the most basic level, the skipping is just another method by which RGU creates emphasis.
But it just. It can't help but remind me of the most significant case of music skipping in the franchise. In Adolescence of Utena, right before E-Ko and F-Ko show the tape of Anthy's assault (another scene which has to do with something being put in Anthy's drink).
So then, the skipping could represent honesty. The brutal, uncomfortable bearing of the truth. Statements that ring in the ears and choices that maybe aren't the most delicate or harmless but had to convey the intended message somehow.
(If anyone else has watched seebeees' video essay on transfeminism in utena [which you should, it's really good], it reminds me of their point on the way Adolescence could be using static to represent Anthy's trauma. Records and CDs skip when something has dirtied them. Scratched them. Damaged them).
It could represent repetition obviously, but it could also represent the exact opposite. A breaking of the cycle, a momentary reprieve from the looping record that is Anthy and Utena's lives at Ohtori. When they confess their love for each other in that moment, in such an odd and uniquely utenanthy way, it catches the narrative off-guard. They are cracking the shell of their egg. Their love is forcing itself through the narrative.

While I know there are people who can voice their thoughts on the main plot of this episode and how it handled the SA topic, I can say that I have been Charlie once. This scene broke my heart. You're so confused because you want to help someone, and then they say they have it under control, figured out, or that there's nothing you can do. The pain you feel when the one you want to protect says you shouldn't get involved is unimaginable. The last thing you want is the victim getting hurt, but how exactly do you handle that? What if they "don't want help"? What is driving them in that situation? What if you're actually hurting them even more by doing what you feel is the right choice? You can't force someone to get help. They know it, you know it and the abuser does too. Mind you, everyone in their own way. So you just feel guilty. You share the responsibility, you carry that burden of knowing someone's going through one of the worst things imaginable. You're aware that getting involved directly is often not the solution, but helplessness is just gut-wrenching.
There are dozens of ways we can unpack it. Whether Charlie does or does not have the power/authority despite the contract being signed, how she approaches Angel's boundaries etc. We need to remember that this is Hell, so sexual exploitation and violence are not as shocking. Yet, to someone with Charlie's heart and beliefs, and to the show's audience, it's still repulsive, still something that should not be taking place. I know I certainly don't have the strength to discuss this.
I saw that many people were highly critical of this episode a week ago. Today, I saw a lot of viewers praising it for the way the issue was handled and for making them feel understood. Some moments make me uncomfortable, but I don't have any problems with watching it all again. There is some part of me that thinks it's well-made, that the voice actors did a stellar job (which I think we can admit in general), that the fact it hurts a casual viewer is the main point, it's supposed to be uncomfortable to some extent...  That's the part of me that doesn't have that experience, but should those feelings be denied?
At the end of the day, there's one thing I'm sure of - this episode should have a trigger warning

Vivziepop lying about Raphielle being a SA victim and now claiming other crew members are to defend her fetishization of Angel’s sexual abuse and assault is repulsive behavior. She’s so obsessed with trying to prove the critics of Hazbin Hotel “wrong” that she’s willing to expose the trauma of her crew, believing it’ll silence them when all it does is show how low she’ll stoop to protect her ego and how she thinks trauma is necessary to enjoy problematic fiction.
Firstly, when people privately confide in you about their trauma, you’re not supposed to expose them to win internet arguments because they trusted you to keep this information between the two of you, hoping you would respect their choice to not go public about it. Don't ever put them in a situation where they're forced to open up about their trauma because it's their decision to make, not yours. Respect them and their trauma.
Secondly, and lastly, you don’t need trauma to enjoy problematic fiction and can like it for whatever reasons without having to explain yourself. If you’re going to make problematic stories and publicly share them, then properly label and warn others of what they're about and contain. This makes it easier for people to decide whether or not they want to indulge in it.
Vivziepop should just admit she’s into non-con and enjoys fetishizing male abuse instead of throwing her crew members under the bus and using their trauma in a poor attempt to win arguments against online strangers, all because her ego’s bruised.

Hi! Do you think you could link me to some resources about the problems/ evils of the EU? Would love to find some but it's hard to know what's reliable when I have no base knowledge in this area + you seem very well informed :)
sure. let's start with what the EU does to its own member states--in 2009, the EU bailed the greek government out of severe debt on the condition that they establish brutal austerity measures, cutting public spending and welfare. these measures served to immiserate and destroy the lives of thousands of greek people:
Greek mortality has worsened significantly since the beginning of the century. In 2000, the death rate per 100,000 people was 944.5. By 2016, it had risen to 1174.9, with most of the increase taking place from 2010 onwards.
[forbes]
Since the implementation of the austerity programme, Greece has reduced its ratio of health-care expenditure to GDP to one of the lowest within the EU, with 50% less public hospital funding in 2015 than in 2009. This reduction has left hospitals with a deficit in basic supplies, while consumers are challenged by transient drug shortages.
[the lancet]
The homeless population is thought to have grown by 25 per cent since 2009, now numbering 20,000 people.
[oxfam]
the most brutal treatment, however, the EU of course reserves for migrants from the global south. the EU sets strict migration quotas and uses its member states as weapons against desperate people fleeing across the mediterranean. boats are prevented from landing, migrants that do make it to land are repelled with brutal violence, and refugees are deported back to countries where their lives are in lethal danger. these policies have led to many, many deaths--and the refugees and migrants who do survive are treating fucking inhumanely.
After a perilous journey across the desert, Abdulaziz was locked up in Triq al-Sikka, a grim prison in Tripoli, Libya. Why? Because the EU pays Libyan militias millions of euros to detain anyone deemed a possible migrant to Europe [...] A leaked EU internal memorandum in 2020 acknowledged that capturing migrants was now “a profitable business model” [...] in Triq al-Sikka and other detention centres, “acts of murder, enslavement, torture, rape and other inhumane acts are committed against migrants”, observed a damning UN report.
[the guardian]
Volunteers have logged more than 27,000 deaths by drowning since 1993, often hundreds at a time when large ships capsize. These account for nearly 80% of all the entries.
[the guardian]
Refugees and asylum seekers were punched, slapped, beaten with truncheons, weapons, sticks or branches, by police or border guards who often removed their ID tags or badges, the committee said in its annual report. People on the move were subject to pushbacks, expulsion from European states, either by land or sea, without having asylum claims heard. Victims were also subject to “inhuman and degrading treatment”, such as having bullets fired close to their bodies while they lay on the ground, being pushed into rivers, sometimes with hands tied, or being forced to walk barefoot or even naked across a border.
[the guardian]
In September, Greece opened a refugee camp on the island of Samos that has been described as prison-like. The €38m (£32m) facility for 3,000 asylum seekers has military-grade fencing and CCTV to track people’s movements. Access is controlled by fingerprint, turnstiles and X-rays. A private security company and 50 uniformed officers monitor the camp. It is the first of five that Greece has planned; two more opened in November.
[the guardian]
i could go on. i could cite dozens more similarly brutal news stories about horrific mistreatment, or any of the dozens of people who have killed themselves in the custody of border police under horrific conditions. the EU is a murderous institution that does not care about the lives of refugees and migrants or about the lives of the citizens of any member state that is not pursuing a vicious enough neoliberal political program

Having a bigot "mistake you for a trans woman/fem" is fundamentally not the same experience as if you had actually been a transfem (or analogous/adjacent) person in that situation. This should be obvious, but the key difference is in the word 'mistake'.
Your experience with transmisogyny began and ended when someone mistook you for one of us.
Ours began the day we were born into a world convinced that girls like us are monsters to be destroyed.
I'm sorry that people hate us so much that you got caught up in it. It sucks.
(TW: SA) Me, I've stared into the eyes of a man who put his hand down my panties and then said to me "but I thought you were a girl" and if you can please just try to imagine how afraid I was for my life in that moment, and why I was so afraid.
The why is because I know what the world thinks of girls like me.
The why is because transmisogyny has been an ever present force throughout my life.
The why is because every single day of my life I've been told that I'm a monster that needs to he destroyed.
That's what being transmisogyny affected means. It's more than just that run-in you had with your local bigot, it's living in a society that tells you every day, every hour, every minute that you're too loud,
That you take up too much space,
That you're a monster,
You're a predator,
You're disgusting,
You're scum.
Could it be that living in a society that drills that into your head every day fucks up a lot of girl's ability to form relationships and makes those of us who survive long enough feel a bit prickly towards people who only have an ankle-deep understanding of our oppression but think they can define it for us instead of listening to us?
Nah, that's probably our fault too...

saying angel is the wrong kind of traumatized and is too sexual and offensive is a spit in the face of trauma victims who see some of their behaviors reflected in him. Just FYI. your way of dealing with your trauma is not universal and people's hatred of hypersexual trauma victims is fucking disgusting and your purity culture origins are showing. You're apparently only allowed to never want anything to do with sex if you're traumatized by a sexual event. (:
This is like the biggest gotcha point people who rabidly hate the show use and god is it retraumatizing to see how you think of victims who don't behave how you think they should.
