"Georgia Republicans bundled over a dozen measures that targeted the state’s transgender residents into omnibus packages in a desperate attempt to get them passed. In a stunning defeat for the GOP, every single one of them failed.
Legislators gutted bills that had passed through committee and instead stuffed them full of their anti-LGBTQ+ wishlist items.
Bills that would ban transgender students from playing on teams aligned with their gender identity, ban transgender students from bathrooms aligned with their gender identity, opt parents into notification for every book a student checks out of the library, bar sex education before sixth grade, make all sex-ed classes opt-in and expand obscenity laws to make it easier to ban books with LGBTQ+ content all failed.
“MAGA politicians in Georgia tried it all in service to their anti-LGBTQ+ agenda,” said Human Rights Campaign Georgia State Director Bentley Hudgins, “including silencing debate and gutting unrelated, popular bills that had bipartisan support to ram through policies that would have put young LGBTQ+ Georgians in harm’s way. They failed.”
“It’s undeniable that the tides are shifting, both here in Georgia and across the nation,” Georgia Equality executive director Jeff Graham added. “Anti-LGBTQ actors are losing their political power, and more and more Georgians who know and love LGBTQ people are standing up against their baseless fear-mongering.”
In Florida recently, nearly two dozen anti-LGBTQ+ bills were defeated in the wake of Gov. Ron DeSantis‘s (R) presidential campaign implosion, dozens of measures in Virginia were tabled [Note: In the US, "tabled" means "shelved" or "taken out of consideration - the opposite of its meaning in the UK and other places], and Ohio’s governor backed off his attempt to restrict gender-affirming care access for transgender adults and minors.
Meanwhile, in D.C., Democrats successfully excised 50 anti-LGBTQ+ provisions in the two budget bills passed and signed by President Joe Biden to fund the federal government.
Even Fox News has been forced to acknowledge transgender issues are among the lowest-priority concerns among voters."

The majority of Americans want protection for transgender people, new poll shows
Tumblr media
The current onslaught on transgender people in the US is extreme and destructive, and it is easy to get the impression that most Americans have become rabid transphobes. That is in no way the case.
On April 26 Fox News published a poll that showed that for the most part the majority of Americans do not support the Republican "culture war."
When asked about  the most important issue facing the country today, only 1% answered "Wokeness/Transgender issues".
The fact that the survey saw wokeness and transgender issues as one and the same thing, says a lot about Fox, but the answer says even more about Americans.  Transgender people are not seen as a threat.
So what did Americans see as important? "Economy/Jobs" (24%),  obviously, followed by "Inflation/Cost of living" (16%) and "Gun control/Gun violence" (12%).
Targeting families with trans kids is seen as a major problem by Americans
60% of the respondents say that school boards banning books is a major problem. There is no call for censorship of LGBTQA books in schools.
57% say that "Families with transgender children being targets of political attacks" is a major problem. The number for Democrats is 69%, Republicans 43%. Let that sink in for a moment: 43% of Republican voters think the transphobia has gone to far.
Mixed views of trans people
This does not mean that a majority of Americans go all in on the transgender side. We have seen this in other polls too. Americans tend to believe that trans people have the right to live their lives in peace and without harassment, but they are skeptical, for instance,  of transgender women's competing in women's sports (57%).
However, if we look at this from a glass half full perspective, this means that the Republicans have not managed to turn the argument against trans athletes into a broader support for full fledge anti-trans hate, which is good.
The fact that 48% say that "Overly accommodating transgender policies" is "a major problem" can be seen as serious challenge for trans people. It is.  On the other hand, 50% see this  as a minor problem or not a problem at all, which tells us – again– that a majority of Americans are not buying the Republican driven moral panic.
Conclusion
This merits repeating: A majority of Americans support trans people's right to live their lives as they see fit. A great majority of Americans do not buy the Republican war against "wokeness".

Divorced parents who don't approve of their child receiving gender-affirming care can now sneak their kid to Florida, where Florida will seize control of the child if they child is "likely to or receiving gender-affirming care." Florida is encouraging human trafficking, so long as it targets trans children. Hell, just fucking lie about it and Florida will give you full/sole custody of the child you just trafficked.
To repeat:
"The new law will allow the state to take custody of a child if they have been “subjected to or [are] threatened with being subjected to” gender-affirming care, which includes puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy. Florida courts could modify custody agreements from a different state if the minor is likely to receive gender-affirming care in that second state."
Florida will take your children away from you. Leave if you can.
Help those that can't.

You, no doubt, have seen that Missouri's AG has put out emergency rules that limit, and in effect ban, transition care in the state, effective April 27
First things first if you are trans in MO, I'm sorry this is happening to you no one else is gonna apologize so I will, I'm really fucking sorry.
two, don't panic, The ACLU and Lambda Legal declared together they're gonna fight this thing. But they need your help
IF YOU ARE TRANS IN MISSOURI! PLEASE CONTACT THE ACLU OR LAMBDA AT ONCE! THEY NEED YOUR STORY!
If you would be effected by these rules they need to hear from you AT ONCE, your story and how these rules will negatively impact your life will make up the basis of challenging (and overturning) these rules before they can take effect.
other groups to engage with on this, PRMO-Missouri, The National Center for Transgender Equality, HRC and of course PFLAG
Finally next year Attorney General Andrew Bailey will be up for election. Don't forget this, don't forgive this, stay fucking angry and bring your rage every day from today till you grind his transphobic ass into the dirt, EVERY DAY!
moments like this are scary, and they are painful, but they are calls to action. You may feel that it isn't fair, and it is not, but you are called to action to fight for your rights and the rights of others so in the future others will not have to. Do not stop do not give up, the arc of history is long but it does bend toward justice.

It is important to keep in mind that all the horrible headlines about anti-trans Republican legislation do not say much aboit how many of them actually become a reality. An increasing number are now stopped in the courts.
In addition to the laws and regulations Erin Reed mentions in the tweet above, a lot of bans against drag performances are shot down for violating the freedom of speech.
Erin Reed writes:
//Y’all. I TOLD you. Bad news the last 6 months will give way to wins!
- IN misgendering… blocked
- AR care ban… blocked
- AL care ban… blocked
- TN drag ban… blocked
- FL care ban… blocked
- IN care ban… blocked
- WV sports ban… blocked
Just getting started! Happy Pride!//
