Hello murfeel, I don't know if anyone ask you this before but what do you think about the news of sims 5 being planned by ea?

Hi! I see we're starting 2023 on a positive note, getting me triggered by EA's shenanigans! 🤣

Yeah, so far I've only commented briefly about TS5 in this post, when EA did that stupid Summit thing where they showed off how much they're trying to one-up Paralives. 🙄 OOoOoo~! They're bringing the color wheel back after swearing on a stack of bibles that CASt was the worst feature in TS3 and TS4 didn't need it and their wacka** LACK of customization was the FUTURE of gaming--zomg lemme get my wallet ready~~! 🤡

Like, EA, everyone knows you're good at Build/Buy mode and CAS--people don't call TS4 a DOLLHOUSE SIMULATOR for nothing. But where is the EFFING GAMEPLAY? I feel the same way about Paralives--I don't need to see anymore of their builds or Paras--I want to follow sims INSIDE their places of work and school (no more EFFING rabbitholes); and see how they act come rain, snow or shine; and I want pets aside from just cats & dogs and RODENTS EA. And different cultural representation, so it's not the same generic American suburban cookie-cutter crap all the time--give me simulated life of the islands, the tundras, the equator, the poles, the Nth/Est/Sth/Wst hemispheres, the cities, the farms, the jungles, the corporate ladder, off the grid--in fully fleshed out EXPANSIONS with living breathing WORLDS, not watered down Game Packs, for crying out loud. Do y'all even remember what Expansion Packs are, EA? If only every pack was given HALF the content and attention to detail that Seasons always gets! It's a sad state of affairs when the best pack y'all ever released was for VAMPIRES. 🤦‍♀️

I get stomach ulcers every time I hear about how people spent over a THOUSAND DOLLARS on TS4 and are clamoring for the torture to be over already so TS5 can hurry up and screw them over instead. The biggest complaint simmers have been screaming at EA about is how dang BORING TS4 is, because

the game is too easy, and people have to cheat to make the game HARDER wtf

the game is too buggy and none of the fancy "features" effing WORK, releasing ENTIRE PACKS BROKEN, with patches that make everything worse

the features TS4 does have that actually work are shallow AF and a lot of them are repetitive/redundant or they don't carry over to other EPs/GPs/SPs to make the gameplay deeper and richer you had one job EA

TS4's worlds are too small and we don't even have CAW, but EA promised us that smaller non-open worlds with no CASt and no Story Progression would make TS4 run so much smoother than TS3--gosh golly, now if only my save would stop laaaaaaagging 😩

where are the skills where are the careers where are the hobbies other than streaming/blogging where are the NPCs where ar--

the sims' emotions & action queues are out of control, but the EMOTIONS were the MAIN thing the dev's pitched when TS4 was announced over a decade ago; why are my sims acting like crack heads when you said they'd be so much smarter?

the kids are totally ignored, where the teens are basically young adults with curfews--but zoinks! they're finally going to update the bassinet-babies after TEN YEARS so the legacy players can actually PLAY WITH LIFE and interact with babies! Maybe if we're lucky, they'll patch in some frikkin preteens so the life states in a life simulation game actually make sense!

Look at everything Sims Freeplay has--it's monetized to hell and back, but at least they have COOL stuff! WHERE IS IT in TS4? Will that stuff be in basegame TS5???? EVER? Or will EA just keep showing us how many throw pillows we can rotate on couches in rooms full of clutter that aren't even interactive objects? 🙃 Paralives has Paras ziplining off of rooftops into their pool--will basegame TS5 even launch with pools and swimmable water, or will that feature be locked off behind another lukewarm paywalled EP where you can only ever swim in ONE (1) world? 🏝 And now that EA making basegame TS4 free to play, they have carte blanche to microtransaction people to death with useless Kits full of DECOR and mess in TS5, too, huzzah!

And they keep bringing up MULTIPLAYER--THEY BETTER NOT. 💀

GOD, I hope the TS4 simmers go off on EA and tell them that TS5 CANNOT be TS4 2.0. Don't have EA walking around thinking TS4 was the right way to do life simulation gaming. TS4's enormous player base means diddly squat if people don't play the game to PLAY the GAME, only using it as the base for their Blender renders -- quantity does NOT equal quality, EA!

I'm not even staying on top of TS5 news anymore, listening to Lindsay Pearson lie to my frikkin face; promising me the moon only to have it turn out to be made of government cheese. The proof is gonna be in the pudding once the game actually LAUNCHES in a zillion years; I refuse to get hyped.

But I am PRAYING EA does TS5 right. Or at least that they make something better than TS4--it's a low bar, I know, but baby steps. Believe it or not, but I'd actually like to play a sims game that isn't TS3 sometime this decade. 🙏 TS4 had so many red flags; everyone knew it was a mobile game port, we're not THAT dumb, EA. Plus, TS4 was just too effing ugly for me. I hate the cartoony playdough look, and the lack of CASt and customization was an IMMEDIATE dealbreaker; so at least EA learned ONE lesson in all this time. *slow claps* Now we just have to see what they'll do about the actual GAME, the part that MATTERS.

Lemme stop, before I pop a blood vessel.

Wake me up when TS5 has more gameplay than Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.

ngl i AM bitter that there's more d*rge/asty content just bc the writer was working on them at the same time. like. i will be forever lamenting the fact that w*ll only has 8.5 hrs of voice lines. and they still added more shit with asty despite that. and now his character is overloaded compared to the others, especially with the d*rge romance. to the point that even if you're not romancing him, somehow he still gets more voice lines than your actual romanced companion. and that fucking sucks. bc every other companion deserves that level of attention too, but ESPECIALLY my babe of the frontiers. who only has 8.5 hrs of voice lines. btw.

like there's so much amazing parallels you could do with a d*rge romance with him. two people struggling and insisting to do the right thing despite external forces constantly punishing them when they disobey. daddy issues. not to mention there's so much stuff that happens with both of them in act 3, his dad getting kidnapped by g*rtash, who was d*rge's former partner in crime. like that's some spicy level of drama right there! and he doesn't even react to the fact that his boyfriend is the mastermind of this whole operation! huh???!!???!

anyways. i love asty's character and they did phenomenal with him. wish all the other origin companions had the same effort poured in bc they all have the potential to be as amazing as him. if only. lmao

Anyway i realise now that 'regression' may have not been the best word to use because it can mean something completely different but what I meant was that Steve's character got worse in s4 (which it did argue with the wall on that one) and would get even worse if st*ncy was endgame bc there'd be no development whatsoever he'd literally be getting what he wants instead of idk learning that he doesn't NEED to be in a romantic relationship. Also, theres no way you think Jonathan wanting Nancy to have a future where she is following her dreams is worse than Steve wanting her to have a future that she has previously stated is a fucking nightmare for her. So yes saying you want nancy to be happy and being a st*ncy is hilarious. Nancy ending up with Steve is the worst possible outcome for her character. She deserves better than being reduced to steve's fucking six nugget happy meal fantasy

This isn't me defending Jonathan lying to Nancy either like I am fully expecting conflict between them but implying Jonathan isn't good enough for Nancy bc he's depressed is weird take that really doesn't sit right with me but i don't expect any decent takes from a st*ncy anyway so 🤷‍♀️

Been reading up on some things about Sims and Maxis... seems they've hit a new low lately with their new pack. Not talking about sales, but low in terms of overall "fan happiness."

TL;DR Latest update SUCKS and I NEED NPCC back before I can play seriously.

Lotta people upset with the new pack in terms of quality content. I already came to the conclusion that I don't care about the whole school system so I'll be dropping all of my teen sims out of that mess. They'll just have to do online school. The rest of the new world "looks" cool, but I've barely got to experience it as I'm still recovering from everything that's broken.

This update has seriously messed with a lot of things in my game. My save game is a very meticulously crafted piece of work that I've shaped into my own PERFECT world. I have rules, regulations, and strict standards put in place to keep this world perfect. Many of the mods I used that enforced those standards are quite broken now leaving my world in a bit of chaos. To put this in perspective, I have yet to make a serious hard save to my game since updating about a week and a half ago as I keep finding things going wrong in my game that are detrimental to my overall world. So its safe to say my previous version I backed up is looking awfully enticing to rollback. Though I prefer to stick it out and push forward, y'know my thing, KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

My biggest problem now is waiting for NPCC to update. I knew it was an important mod in my game, but didn't realize how important until I saw this freakazoid showed up to be my club's DJ and not Hatsune Miku or Sonic the Hedgehog or any of my radically cool set DJs.

As if I haven't said it enough times before, but I HATE townies. They're a blight upon the game and must be purged. NPCC kept my town clean of their filth, but without it all of my set sims have lost their roles and the infestation as started. DJs, mailmen, vendors, mixologists, waiters, etc. all monstrosities. I'm scared to send my sims out of their houses because it might generate more. I've been keeping my sims quarantined on The Island Bluffs majority of the time, the last bastion of safety.

I've seen alternative mods for NPCC, but none function exactly the same. Particularly how NPCC allows households to still be played is extremely useful. Alternative mods still require the sims to be evicted and un-played to work. Examples like how with NPCC I could still play as my Mario Bros. household and them still be set as service role repairmen. And Tenya Iida could still be my mailman with my MHA Boys household marked as played too. That was incredibly useful and I kinda can't live without it.

So I can't really work on my world now. I'm still making new sims since I can easily paste them into an old save if I need to, but its annoying not being able to confidently save my game progress after a play session knowing there's a good chance I will have to revert back because something stupid happened to my sims or the world. What kind of things you might wonder? Well worst case scenarios would be my sims' having their body shapes altered (Star Wars Stormtroopers did that to me), having my sims' outfits being altered (Discover University did that too), or random traits/ preferences get assigned (happened a few times before, typically NPC roles, so doubtful it'd be a problem now.) You might not think those to be too big a deal, but if it were to happen in mass to my sims population as a whole, WELL lets just say I wouldn't want to go through and fix 800-900 sims... that's why I'm overly cautious with my save game.

I was building up a pseudo side world to play in, but realized the obvious problem to that solution is that whatever I do in that world won't be real as it didn't happen in my main save. Meaning I edit lots, sims, whatever I'll have to re-save them to my bin to transfer into my real world eventually giving myself more work to do OR I scrap all those ideas and just throw caution to the wind and play my main save with reckless abandon and simply "fix" whatever issues that show up later down the line no matter how dire or time consuming they might be. (i.e. it would be future me's problem.)

Do I play it safe in a secondary world and give myself more work later syncing save files or do I "reckless abandon" my main save and live for the now? Hmmm, choices choices... leaning more towards reckless abandon now because I just want to play my game lol.

Every time something romantic fails you get 10000 people telling you "you'll meet the one! Don't worry you'll meet the one!" Ok 1. That's not a guarantee, plenty of people don't meet that person 2. Even if I do it's still fucking hard, I'm 22 and the dude I was seeing recently is 29. And there's no soulmate in sight for him. Do I have 7+ years to go of this SHIT too?? 10+?? At this rate I'm never gonna meet my fucking kids, I'm so fucking cold and so alone, everyone thinks I'm so beautiful and I get told it 1000× a day, when is someone gonna do something about it???? And you know what I'm sick of being in charge too, I wish there was ONE FUCKING ASPECT of my life where I'm the one BEING taken care of!!!!! I'm so fucking angry.

Usually it’s polite to ask if one’s parents are free to drive us somewhere BEFORE buying tickets for it. Neither of us drive or have access to a car, and the bus doesn’t go to where the event is. But like, after asking if I’m free/want to go and her buying the tickets, THEN she asks if my parents can take us. After barely speaking to me for, well, years really by months since we reconnected. And after not answering me asking how her baby was because she told me she’d been admitted to the hospital. After being so distant and everything.

I’m just. Friendship is a two way street, and I feel like I’m the only one making an effort 99% of the time and I’m tired.

Think about it! Trans people are a small minority of humanity. Detransitioners are an even smaller minority within that. The majority of detransitioners do so cuz of safety and money, not because they weren't actually trans. People detransitioning cuz they arent trans is so incredibly rare. So a rare minority of a rare minority of a minority. And yet somehow almost every terf blog is a detransitioner? It can't be real. It's so convenient to the bigots that all these "detransitioners" would just agree with them! Statistically speaking, it just can not be true.

They are lying. The majority of "detransitioners" on this site are lying.

They did not actually transition medically. They identified as trans and realized later they weren't trans. They never pursued a medical transition through hrt but use this previous experience to claim they "detransitioned" even though they never "transitioned" with hrt.

Even in the really really rare case of a legit detransitioned terf, their ideology is wrong. Bigotry isn't suddenly chill cuz you realized you weren't lgbt/trans.

If someone who isn't a terf claims to be a detransitioner, I'm more than willing to take them seriously with no extra. But, the fact that every other trans woman hating rad fem is supposedly "detransitioned" it can't be true. It's literally impossible. I'm always skeptical of terf "detransitioners" cuz they are liars.

MY THOUGHTS RANT ALERT (rabid AF & VERY lengthy venting about Lestat’s trash decision skills, and Loustat’s toxic sludge of a relationship jfc)

This episode, man.

If you know the IWTV book and the movie, you already know Lestat & Claudia end up literally at each other’s throats, and cross the point of no return as mortal enemies, basically.

But the film’s all wrapped up in Lestat being a sadistic cavalier sarcastic little pissant; and Claudia being a ruthless 10-year old immortal killing machine; and Louis being a masochistic indecisive shell stuck with Lestat through circumstance (not love, no homo!), and Claudia through responsibility (and pedophilic???? love).

The magic of the AMC version is that they’re working in 2022, not the 70s (book) or 90s (film), so they have the luxury to explore what it'd be like for an Alternate Universe Louis and Lestat to really BE together, and raise Claudia

--and how everything inevitably went dead wrong:

Lestat making Claudia was never the mistake. Lestat making LOUIS was.

Seeing the way AMC did everything was so dang good/awful. With Louis & Lestat, theirs was a too-brief whirlwind romance between monsters; a married couple blindly raising a kid together in the midst of carnage and trauma--because they’re vampires, sucking the life out of everyone and everything around them.

They won’t communicate, can’t relate to each other, and don’t really even know each other. Despite Lestat’s false 1st impression of Louis strutting around like a tough guy with that cane-sword, Louis was not a violent man, and Louis HATED being a vampire. That made being with a bloodthirsty hedonist like Lestat next to impossible, no matter how much they loved each other. Especially once Louis started eating animals instead of people, and his diet disgusted Lestat, just as Lestat’s diet disgusted Louis.

Unlike Louis, Claudia took to killing like a bat straight outta Hell (and nearly got them all busted by the COPS because of it). But Lestat & Claudia couldn’t STAND one another by the end. They really were father and daughter in all the worst ways possible.

Violent manipulative control freaks, they both loved Louis deeply, and both wanted him to choose one of them over the other, while doing everything they could to make sure that they couldn’t coexist peacefully in the same space.

IMO, this show’s all about Maker/Fledgling and parent/child bonds. Lestat & Louis love each other romantically, and Louis & Claudia love each other in the familial way. So there are deep emotional bonds. But Lestat made Louis & Claudia vampires, so even though they have a permanent magical bond as Maker and Fledgling, Lestat can't read their minds. But as “sibling” vampires, Claudia and her Daddy Lou CAN speak mentally to each other. So they can understand & know & relate to each other better and on a way deeper level than Lestat ever could with either one of them, even though he made them.

And I agree with the fandom that yeah, Louis 100% liked it that way. When people have kids to “save” the marriage, the baby is a band-aid as much as it is a comfort object, a new emotional bond between parent and child to give them the love they felt they were missing from their spouse. In EP4 Louis told Lestat “’Happy?’ We were never happy!“ He was going to LEAVE Lestat in EP3, before stumbling across Claudia and going back to him. Louis just wanted someone he could TALK to--a new Paul, a new Miss Lily, a new Grace. (Ultimately: DANIEL MALLOY interviewing him--Louis needs SO MUCH therapy jfc.) Lestat made Louis selfishly, for himself (and did a pisspoor job learning about Louis beforehand or educating him in vampirism). And Louis selfishly wanted someone for himself, too--particularly once Lestat made it clear he wasn’t gonna be monogamous & started cheating. Claudia wasn’t made out of love, she was made out of selfishness, spite & panic.

All this made the AWFUL communication between Lestat, Louis & Claudia doomed from the start, as Lestat was immediately left out of his own family--again (his worst nightmare)--all while not realizing/accepting that Louis & Claudia’s father/daughter bond wasn't a threat to the romantic bond he had with Louis.

All of Lestat’s efforts to get closer to Louis (than Claudia) became WAY too heavy-handed--as if stalking & terrorizing Louis in EP1 into being with him wasn’t bad enough. >_> And that’s on top of Lestat’s self-destructive contradictory behavior constantly cheating on Louis to try and rile his jealousy. Which was FUTILE, since all Lestat’s cheating did was push Louis deeper into depression and further away from him--straight to Claudia; the one bond Louis felt he had left!

And then Episode 5 happened, and Lestat REALLY effed up.

Like, we know Lestat’s whipped, Louis’ IT for him, but obviously there was a part of him that really did hate Louis--enough for him to beat him like that. But if it was that bad, why not just LEAVE???? Lestat had all the power & resources--let Claudia & Louis go, and find yourself someone you’re more compatible with, ffs! The swamp/dump is calling, sir! 🤡

But because Loustat are endgame in the books, I cannot WAIT to see how AMC handles Lestat’s redemption arc, both as the (anti-)hero of the Vampire Chronicles, and how both Lestat AND Louis figure out how to grow the eff up and MATURE enough to be worthy of EACH OTHER by the end of the story.

IMO, Loustat are soulmates who met at the wrong time. Not exactly star-crossed lovers, but they definitely went in too deep way too soon. In the books, Lestat hadn’t gone through his growing pains when he met Louis--he’d only been a vampire for like a decade, and careened from one tragedy to the next, not knowing ANYTHING about vampirism to help teach Louis or Claudia anything either. While here on the show, it’s Louis who suffers loss after loss after loss, and is given ZERO time or opportunity to process any of his trauma before he’s made a vampire, married, and a parent in quick succession. (And the books go even further, with everything that happens to him in Merrick and the Prince Lestat trilogy.)

And here, Lestat’s a ~200 year old EXPERT in vampirism, who is DELIBERATELY withholding information and keeping secrets from them, because AMC’s Lestat ALREADY KNOWS about Armand and AKASHA and Marius, but like a MORON he doesn’t TALK TO LOUIS about it (because Marius told Lestat NOT to). So they (especially Claudia) KNOW Lestat’s LYING, and think he’s keeping them with him seemingly as their hateful & controlling JAILER/SLAVE MASTER, rather than their loving & paranoid protector. CLOWN BEHAVIOR, Lestat! 🤡

And that’s not even saying anything yet about the LOADED significance of Loustat’s interracial homosexual relationship, with Lestat’s “non-discriminating” pansexualism and stubborn “color-blindness” and racism doesn’t exist in Europe attitude like WTF DRUGS ARE YOU EVEN ON SIR as if the FRENCH didn’t colonize the West Indies and Africa and NEW ORLEANS as some of THE most racist Europeans ever GTFOH. And Louis’ Catholic Guilt and internalized-homophobia and struggles being black during Jim Crow and whatever Frenchophile-blinders he had on to excuse Lestat as a “safe” white man he could be with, when the man’s a whole vampire LITERALLY hunting you, good GOD have mercy on this baby lamb against the WOLF KILLER Lestat. And Claudia calling Lestat on his crap EVERY TIME, knowing he was keeping secrets and constantly interrogating him, following him and spying on him as he cheated on Louis, calling him “Massa,” I CANNOT. 👑

I love this show, AMC’s a genius. This one episode encapsulates SO many different issues and aspects of these characters, it’s wild. IMO, some of the fandom needs to calm down about EP5 and Lestat’s “character assassination.” YES, Lestat’s the villain on the show. He’s the villain in the movie, too, lest we forget! That's why Lestat spends the next like DOZEN books in the Vampire Chronicles trying to clear his name, getting the reader to see things from HIS perspective, after Louis ROASTED him for filth and made Lestat look so dang bad in THE interview that started it all.

I love bashing on Lestat, because that’s the whole POINT of IWTV--it’s Louis still mad as all hell at his ex 100 years later, venting to Daniel about his TRAUMA and hurt. You’re SUPPOSED to be mad at Lestat, and be on Louis’ side as he goes off on him in the interview, feeling just as hurt and betrayed as he did, because you too LIKE--love--Lestat, and were just as seduced and blindsided as Louis was.

Other than IWTV and Merrick, the Vampire Chronicles are NOT Louis’ story, they’re Lestat’s, a narcissistic egomaniacal lovable a-hole, and the books do the heavy lifting of letting you slowly get to know him, as he admits to his flaws and mistakes and finally REDEEMS himself--in both the reader’s eyes--AND LOUIS’.

IMO, AMC is really hammering it home how THE BOOKS are Lestat’s long AF apology letter to Louis, for letting him down.

Chile, lemme calm myself down and get back to playing the Sims.
