Something I really need Stranger Things fic writers to know is that no one in rural America was locking any doors in the eighties apart from the government and businesses. I remember when there was a big stink about "we gotta start locking our doors now how am I supposed to remember that every time I leave the house." People didn't lock the doors when they were home until at LEAST the mid-aughts, a lot of people STILL don't. "Oh we can't get into so-and-so's house/car because we don't have the keys!" You do not need the keys, just open the door. "I'm alarmed because I went over to so-and-so's house and their front door was unlocked so I instantly knew something was wrong." It would be much weirder if it was locked. If I showed up at my friend's house and the door was locked I would immediately assume something was wrong. If I lived in a town regularly invaded by monsters and patrolled by mobs of government agents/Russian spies/jocks with guns, I would assume my friend was currently being hunted.

#stranger things #pretty sure Will just walked into his house in the first episode #I know Mike did when he brought Eleven home #None of these doors are locked #Please stop including it as plot points because it takes me right out of the story and leaves me staring into space #Also while we're at it:#VHS tapes will not fit in Steve's back jeans pocket #That's not happening #And it is completely normal for the Wheelers to not know where their two oldest kids are #Parents in the eighties expected you to show up for breakfast and for dinner and that's it #Sometimes you bike to the other side of town to get up to trouble with your friends and that's just how it is #If you were inside they were concerned about your health #And no one was particularly stressed about being able to reach anyone because that was the usual state of things #Sorry for the rant #So many of you are too young to have known the carefree days of the height of serial killers lol #Kids rarely went missing and most people had only ever heard of murders and other serious crimes in the big city #No one in Hawkins is concerned except the people who have dealt with the monsters

I finally watched Treasure Planet tonight

How and why did I go so long without seeing this movie?!

There are some really epic scenes in this!

I will say the pacing gets a bit slow sometimes imo...But it picks up after the 30 min mark.

Also why is there not a modern plush of morph??? For shame Disney.

the cd burner i ordered arrives tomorrow!!! (technically today) ooh ill finally to burn a cd!!! my parents always did it for me but now i finally can yippee

my utena cds reawakened my love for cds after like 3 years of barely using them... it feels like im returning home from the war (spotify) to my beautiful wife (physical media)

#oh cds my beloved....#also reminds me of some ig reel i saw of a teenager burning a cd and people were getting mad in the comments about it #'gen z wants to have our childhood so bad its cringy' like. what #gen z arent all 12 years old a good chunk of us grew up with cds and vhs tapes 😭😭#i literally listened to cds everynight to go to sleep for like. 10 years. its not some foreign thing to me #the people in that comment section were literally acting like gen z has never seen a cd before and thinks its trendy #its like a different reel i saw where some older guy was like 'gen z doesnt know what this means!!!' and then blew on a game cartridge #like wow thats sooo crazy ive never seen that one before (i have had to blow on cartridges before)#he acted like recent consoles dont use cartridges still like. i may not have had idk. an nes or anything but ive blown on a ds cartridge b4 #not to mention growing up with my dad who blows on cartridges still (who actually had older game consoles)#but whatever. at least tomorrow i finally get to burn a cd for the first time. yahoo

#玫瑰女人 #douyin #video #tiktok #hmmm this triggered a fever dream like recollection of a barney & friends segment from one of the old vhs tapes i used to watch #where those twins were doing a weird dance in front of a fake mirror for like a bajillion hours #i was so stupid as a kid i never realise i could fast forward past things i didn't like #the first time i used youtube when i was like 10 or so i clicked on some 'hey there delilah' parody video that was like 8 minutes long #and i hated every second of it but for some reason it never occurred to me to turn it off #look i don't remember a lot of my youth but the things i do remember are hellishly boring #which me and my sister realised a few weeks ago actually when we were talking about a trip from our youth #and she was remembering all these interesting details about things we did on the trip and where we stayed #whereas the only thing i remembered was this long ass sidewalk next to a big white wall we had to walk along to go up a hill to the hotel #and also when we were visiting some decrepit abandoned cabins in the middle of nowhere.....the long ass drives in between each fuckin cabin #where i was half awake half asleep in the car and it was so hot and then we'd get out and just stand around squinting at dusty wood fences #the theory we settled on is that i don't remember shit except for the torment of boredom bc those things were so repetitive and extended #that my brain had no choice but to remember at least part of the experience #anyway time for bed methinks

I keep accidentally being the guy who's obsessed with movie soundtracks. Like I mean to be normal about movies but the first thing I'll say about any movie is "The music was so good!"

I just watched Hercules for the first time in my life and for as good as it was, Im retroactively diappointed in two different ways. One, I was expecting Cerberus to be a threat at some point in the movie cuz he's a boss in two different KH games and two, why is the KH1 world a coliseum when that had like, literally nothing to do with the movie???

What's your favorite animated film??

We all know I'm incapable of giving just a simple answer of one film so have four instead:

Toy Story 2 - if I really had to pick just one it'd probably be Toy Story 2 but since I make the rules I won't pick just one. Rise of the Guardians - I will admit I don't think I have rewatched it since I did my thesis on it? I really should rewatch it I love that film so much Treasure Planet - The animation is gorgeous and !!! space !!! pirates !!! and the song !!! the frigging song, man!!! A Bug's Life - I don't really have a good explanation for this one but I absolutely adore the film, I just like unionizing okay?? I honestly don't even remember when I actually saw the film for the first time and I'm pretty sure it was already my fave film even before I saw it - I remember listening to the story on one of those story casette tapes and also playing the shit out of the PC game based on it (the tunnel level was so pretty, all hail glow mushrooms) which did have clips of the film as cut scenes but who the heck knows when I actually first watched the film, certainly not me.
