Loki looks more like Loki in these ads than he does in the show. I know it was their intention to ‘strip him down’ but they did FAAAR too much. 😪

Do you think the character of Loki has become more of a caricature/parody with every subsequent movie/series?
Also, that Tom Hiddleston looks very unconvincing as Loki in the series?
*Waves* Hi there!
To answer your questions, yes and yes.
Loki's character got major damage shift from Ragnarok onwards. Which is why I consider the 2011-2013 era Loki to be the original Loki. Ragnarok onwards he has indeed been twisted into something clownish and unrecognisable. In fact, the major changes that Ragnarok made to the franchise' characters paved the way for their subsequent annihilation -- Loki in the series and Thor in L&T.
The Loki of the series is nothing like the og Loki. I admit that there were glimpses sometimes, and they had given me hope up till episode 2 - half of 3. But none after that. After that the series just gave psychic damage after psychic damage, until I spiralled into a depressive episode. (Watching the complete destruction of your favourite character can do that to you. 😔)
Tom Hiddleston, who I used to love and respect a lot, seems to have completely given up on playing Loki. He neither acts like him nor does his body language show any Loki'ness of the 2011-13 era. It saddens me greatly, but that's how it is now. He's making questionable acting choices, over-emoting, not to mention, playing Loki like a lovesick, attention craving bouncy puppy (or as my sister stated very eloquently after that pathetic finale--"He's playing Loki like a fuckboi simp." ).
Idk what happened, but yeah, Tom isn't at all convincing as Loki now. This Loki is a joke compared to 2011-13 era Loki.
Honestly, it hurts to see it happening 😭. I miss the Tom who used to care, the Tom who made a scrapbook for this role, the Tom of subtle, nuanced acting, the Tom who made acting choices that added depth to the character. I don't know what went wrong, but something definitely went wrong there. Not that we'll get to know. I can only hope that he does something good with that day paycheck. 🤷‍♀️

Arrogance vs. Humility: Thor
There's an interesting post circling in fandom with many great metas and povs and it inspired me to expand on one of its threads. I have made a new post so the length and a different direction of meta doesn't bother op. I have also divided this meta into two parts. The first one is titled Thor because it is mainly an analysis of og Thor and og Loki in Thor 2011 . The second part will analyze Loki series for those who are interested.
Initially what sparked this meta was @tori-artemis (Artemis)' tags under an addition by @geehollow (Hollow). Initially I only wanted to write a short answer but I'm doomed by the narrative so I thought to first see what science has to say and I came across an interesting study and decided to use it in my analysis.
I used colors to quote each person because I'm going to quote two people, a study(indented) and add my own thoughts and I can't keep tagging or writing their names :P :D
So without further ado let's start. The topic was about the vice of Thor vs Loki. While perhaps the goal of the og post was to analyze the the topic through the concept of seven sins and virtues I don't intend to do that because it doesn't include every possible personality trait and it's not accurate enough from a psychological pov.
Vice is the first trait one should consider when creating a character. Vices embody the vibe that sparked the character in your mind, and in turn spark virtues, goals, backstories, everything. Of course it's different when dealing with characters inspired by already existing mythos, that already carry traits one has to grasp.
In the MCU, Thor's initial vice was arrogance. Deep seated arrogance born of being the golden prince, revered and indulged. Loki's initial vice was also arrogance, but born of thinking he's smartest than everyone else, due to having had to act covertly in order to get what he wants because he is not revered and not indulged. For both of them these are things we can and should infer during the first movie.
As you've read Hollow states that the vice of both Thor and Loki was arrogance but in different ways. Artemis wouldn't call Loki's arrogance because Loki clearly behaves in a different way than other arrogant characters like Thor and Tony Stark. Therefore we must first define arrogance.
According to a new study there are three types of arrogance that can be dissected into 6 components.
Tumblr media
Individual arrogance: an inflated opinion of one’s abilities, traits, or accomplishments compared to objective truths; Comparative arrogance: an inflated ranking of one’s abilities, traits, or accomplishments compared to other people Antagonistic arrogance: the denigration or derision of others based on an assumption of superiority. The types and components of arrogance depicted in Figure 1 are meaningful together because some of the concepts seem to implicate others. One cannot be overconfident about one’s knowledge in a domain (second-largest box) without first having some relevant limitation in knowledge about that domain (largest box); if one disparages others unfairly (smallest box), one is likely to fail to take their perspective and, further, one is likely to believe in one’s superiority compared to them (third- and second-smallest boxes, respectively); and so on. Therefore, the position of each component in the figure reflects a close dependency. Yet, it is possible for causation to flow from smaller to larger boxes, as well. For example, if one hates an individual for any reason, one might be motivated to underrate their capabilities or motives.
From this definition we can say that both Thor and Loki have levels of arrogance from the start but while Thor until the point Odin banishes him has checked all the six components in the picture, Loki is at a level two.
Thor with limited knowledge and an overestimation of his power decides to go to Jotunheim. He resists the disagreements about his limits and chances and fails to consider perspectives of his friends, his brother and father and Jotuns. He considers himself and his race superior to others and insults and criticizes Jotuns and his father. Loki on the other hand has overestimated his knowledge, abilities and whether or not everything goes according to his plan.
After his banishment, Thor comes down from the level of his hubris. When he fails to lift Mjolnir and after Loki's visit, he realizes that his rash actions had terrible consequences not just for him but for his family too. He's left alone and powerless. He doesn't see himself superior to these humans anymore. Jane helps him see things from different perspectives and as weak as a human he learns his limits. He knows he doesn't have the power to fight the Destroyer so he tries to do the only thing he can do, apologize to his brother. And when it seems that Thor's dying, he doesn't care about glory or what tales Asgard would say of his bravery. All he thinks about is that Jane is safe and that humility and selflessness restores his power. Loki though, in his desperation for acceptance, has made all the wrong choices.
Just as Thor overestimated his power, his physical strength and fighting skills in his attack to Jotunheim, Loki overestimates his power which is his intelligence and planning skills.
Loki in his arrogance thinks he can stage and ruin a heist, prevent Thor's rampage, and get rid of Laufey and Jotunheim through his usual method of solo strategies. He learns consequences when his plans inevitably stumble into variables he hadn't accounted for–the guard taking too much time in warning Odin, learning he's a rejected Jotun prince, being actually made regent, the Warriors Three and Sif and Heimdall betraying him. It's not the fact that he grew up learning underhandedness was his most effective method, it's that in the MCU he applied it presumably for the first time to real big events and had to deal with the consequences.
Loki lacks foresight. Like he lacks seeing all of the possible outcomes of his own schemes. That's how he ends up in a lot of messes in the first Thor film. So yeah - he definitely doesn't fully think things through as much as he'd like to believe himself to. Tbf he's not psychic. But it's more of an over reliance on his schemes working perfectly. That he doesn't consider all of the possible ways that those schemes can go south real fast (and end up doing so). So to me...it's less of it being arrogance of his own intellect and more like his over reliance on the schemes themselves. As well as an overestimation of his own control over the situation. Which *could* be considered arrogance... tho I don't think the film really displays it as such. Or it's just not very *clear* in displaying it as arrogance - like aside from occasionally calling Thor an oaf basically(which tbf he's kinda right with that assessment). And like - considering humans and Jotuns as weak and inferior at best - and monstrous at worst(which is less of a character vice and more of a symptom of Asgard's imperialism).
According to the definition of arrogance, what Artemis describes is in fact a complete list of all the reasons why Loki is arrogant. I also like to add that even the imperialism that causes Asgardians to be biased toward other races is rooted in political arrogance and their sense of superiority(Although we can argue that Loki up until his conversation with Odin, did not believe the Asgardian propaganda as he asked why the truth was hidden from him. It was only after he thought his parents see Jotuns a monsters that he tried to radically separate himself from his race).
Like many aspects in this movie, these brothers are once again a yin and yang to each other. Thor's brawn against Loki's brain. Thor's strength represents Odin's warrior side and he is praised for it. While Loki's wit represents Odin's cleverness but unlike Thor, Loki isn't appreciated for a trait in which he is similar to his father and that's sth he wants to change.
Loki has a good plan, but he fails to consider how his action seem shady to those who didn't like and suspected him. And how that can motivate them to betray him. Everything would have gone according to his plan otherwise. He had managed to trick and kill Laufey, he unleashed Bifrost on those race of "monsters" and he had bested Thor in the battle of brain vs brawn. He was pinned but he thought he had won. He was at the top of arrogance level in his grief and madness.
"Look at you, the mighty Thor, with all your strength, and what good does it to you now, huh?"
He didn't consider that Thor, hot headed Thor who looked down on other races and tried to solve everything by throwing a hammer at it, would try to think his way out of this situation to save the people he previously hated.
In my eyes, Odin's banishment, Jane's and Selvig's and Darcy's companionships are only the stakes that make him walk in the shoes of the other side of the violence, but the real wake up call is seeing Loki behaving and talking as Thor used to.
Thor 1 is the origin story of both Thor and Loki, young princes who discover they were still untested, and Avengers 2012 shows the progression of their arcs after their vice has been exploited with one differing element: a support net being present or absent. Thor always had a support net, Loki never did, and their intertwined story shows exactly how in real life people go down their respective paths.
So if Loki's vice is arrogance why he doesn't behave like Thor or Tony?
Bc tbh I probably wouldn't have even thought of arrogance as a vice for Loki. Like my initial reaction was ''wait no that's Thor". But when phrased like the above... it makes a lot of sense. Like tbh I don't know if I'd call it arrogance in his own intelligence - while he's certainly clever he never seems to overbearing about it. Not in the way similarly clever + arrogant characters like Tony Stark display it anyways. Loki never really... seems particularly arrogant?? Like I wouldn't call him humble either but... arrogance just seems a bit exaggerated tbh. I'd say he definitely has pride... tho I'm not sure I'd call it a vice. Bc let's consider other characters that are clearly written to display arrogance at various levels. Like. Anakin is arrogant. Tony Stark is arrogant. Theon Greyjoy was arrogant. And then there's Thor. And like I know there are probably levels to this and it could be argued that Loki's on the less extreme side...But for a character to be arrogant there's almost always like an indicator to that arrogance in said character's personality? Like something about the way they carry themselves... something in the way they display their genuine belief that they're The Best. I don't really see that with Loki. Again I wouldn't call him humble... but he doesn't have *that* attitude I guess. Compared to Anakin ''I would even stop ppl from dying!'' Skywalker. Or Thor 'throws violent tantrum after dad said no to war w/ Jotunheim' Odinson. Or like... half the shit that comes out of Tony Stark's mouth. XD
Yes Loki doesn't have that attitude. That's because individual differences in unawareness of intellectual limits and personality traits affect how the components of arrogance show themselves in people.
We can illustrate potential relations between personality variables and Components 2 (unawareness of knowledge limitations), 4 (failure to consider the perspectives of others), and 5 (a feeling of superiority). Related to Component 2, Schaefer, Williams, Goodie, and Campbell (2004) examined how the Big Five can predict overconfidence in one’s performance. Only the trait of extraversion correlated with overconfidence (the difference between accuracy and confidence). The extraversion factor may be most related to the aspect of arrogance involving inflated self-appraisal relative to objective reality (Lee & Ashton, 2018). There also have been occasional findings of relations between overconfidence and other Big Five traits like openness to experience and agreeableness
Thor and Tony are both extroverts, so their arrogance or at least the part that involves inflated self-appraisal shows itself through overconfident extrovert behavior. That doesn't mean that Loki doesn't act overconfident. It just shows itself in more subtle ways, like the way he stares at his opponent and in his knowing grin. He's less like boastful I'm-the-best-and-I'm-going-to-beat-you, and more like silent I'm-so-smart-and-you've-fallen-for-my-plan.
Even in Avengers when Loki acts arrogantly more than any other time, his real arrogance is not in the way he presents himself to humans in Stuttgart. That was just theatrics. His arrogance is in the way he grins every time his plans work. In Avengers Loki is in his most arrogant state because he's being influenced by the scepter. The same scepter that can bring the worst of every person in its vicinity which almost made Tony and Steve fight, and even Thor reverted back to his old self calling humans petty and tiny. I also like to mention that it was Tony who understood Loki the most and one of the reasons was because he saw the same arrogance of himself in Loki.
Avengers 2012, Dark World and the stories that followed should have picked up the threads left from the first movie and continued the progression of the vice (flaws+virtues+background) Vs consequences. Some of them did. Some of them did not.
Tldr: both Thor's and Loki's vices were arrogance built in different ways and their arcs showcased how society's (=worldbuilding) support influences the consequences of the same vice until the franchise was rebooted (=different worldbuilding and vices)

I don't know what it is about the new marvel characters lately but they all kind of feel plastic? Like the old characters i can feel like the actors/actresses are tired of the direction their characters are being taken (Elizabeth and chris for example) and the new characters give off "I'm superior and here to replace this character" vibes and i guess that for me personally is the downfall of the mcu i never cared about the movies leading up to sth or a saga it has always been about these characters.
I feel you, it was the same for me. In the past, the characters were properly introduced and characterization was Marvel's forte. But now the way they have introduced some new characters is by having them ridicule the old ones, they prove themselves to the OG characters by being superior to them and mocking their struggles... That's not something I want to see and it blows my mind that Feige thought it was a good idea.
It's nice when it's a partnership like Kate and Clint. Or Yelena and Natasha. Yelena doesn't need to make her whole existence a competition because her characterization speaks for her.
It seems the current writers feel the need to laugh at what came before just so they can introduce the new, and that got real tiring real quick. I don't want Jen to invalidate Bruce's pain, I don't want Sylvie to mock Loki, I don't need Stephen to be laughed at or Thor to be treated like a freaking idiot instead of the god he is.
And they only have to do this because the new characters are not being written well. At the end of the day, what do the new characters truly contribute to the story? The only thing they contribute to the story is something they can do, not what or who they are.
You just need someone who can enchant a cloud monster but she doesn't need to be a Loki, not really, who she is doesn't change anything in the story because at the end of the day we know nothing about her anyway.
You just need a girl who can travel between universes but she could be anybody. We know nothing about her and all the things that make her who she is are ignored. The same with Wanda. It's not who she is, it's what she does. She has the magic and the book and the fancy spells.
You just need a little girl who will be given to Thor for some reason I still don't understand so he can have a happy ending in a movie that explains nothing about anything. It's just a bunch of scenes put together that make no freaking sense whatsoever and the kid doesn't even get a proper name. Well, neither does Valkyrie (or her horse!) and she has been around for longer...
It's all so pointless. There are exceptions like Moon Knight, WandaVision, GoTG3 and Wakanda Forever... and Secret Invasion looks good, we'll see... but the rest have been so forgettable.

4. What was that last straw that made you block that annoying person?
I block frequently and often for a lot of reasons, but one time I admittedly got very annoyed by someone RB’ing a post of mine complaining about the OG Graphic Novel’s Spiro with the comment, and I quote- “He’s on a liquid diet, he’s not going to look like the DILF you draw him as”.
Which like… wtf, I’ll draw him as a ‘dilf’ (which was never the intent) if I well please, and that’s without bringing the ableism into it.
7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Hmm… can’t really say anyone? Not in AF, anyways, usually if I don’t like a character it’s because of their canon actions/I just don’t vibe with them.
The RWBY fandom on the other hand… yeah I really dislike all the main protags now. God, the RWBY fandom is awful.
15. That one thing you see in fanart all the time.
… I’m really trying here, usually I don’t mind much of anything in fanart besides like… whitewashing Holly or something, but that should be self-explanatory.
I do find it odd when people draw Artemis from like, the first few books and they make him look like a mini adult? Like, I know he’s described as vampiric and all but he’s not going to have a man’s jawline/razor-sharp cheekbones as a 12-year-old child. Make him look like a kid! But that could also be artstyle, granted, so take that with a grain of salt.
Oh! And drawing Artemis with like… blood on him. Canon Artemis. He’s not some kind of killer if you’re looking for that go watch Five Hargreeves or Loki or something.

Fic Writer Interview
Tagged by @veliseraptor right when I turned work notifications off for 2 hours which feels auspicious
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
148 😅
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,201,484! For a couple years there, I was kind of cranking but now I basically haven't written fic for two years so uh. chilling at 1.2 million
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
This is always mildly upsetting to me because my favorites are rarely the winners lol
a bow for the bad decisions (3536)
willow branches and flowers (2785)
upon this altar (2745)
heart + bone (2090)
whipstitch (2024)
...well at least I like 2 of these lol
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! I used to respond to every comment and then got overwhelmed and fell completely behind and THEN decided to clean house and answer all of the remaining ones...and the next day posted heart + bone and now have uh... 688 AO3 emails sitting in my inbox :') I periodically try to go in and answer at least a handful but honestly it's gotten very sporadic
5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Off hesperus! I don't think I write a lot of true angst or tragedies tbh. But that one was meant to be 100% genuine, no happy endings angst. And admittedly it's not AS bad as it could have been but. it is probably as bad as I am likely to write (unfortunately (?), I left my "kill all your fave characters, make everyone suffer, burn it down!!!" writing vibes back in middle school mostly).
6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I have so much fluff how am I supposed to pick. ...most of my tgcf fics? heart + bone and sunlight, sunlight, sunlight are pretty absurdly fluffy by the end.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Not really. Back in the olden days (high school/college), I did more—see: whisper something holy, the OG loki fic... I think there were some others?—but it's pretty rare now.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
ehhh not really hate, just some folks who got lost and wound up mad in the comments that *checks notes* local complexity lover let characters be complex. I just turned off anonymous comments for a while and it was fine
9. Do you write smut?
Sometimes! I tend to write (& draw) smut when I'm stuck in a rut (pun sadly not intended), stressed, and struggling to make things which is. something to know about myself. but also means that it often serves as sort of an on ramp to making art that I care about more and so it's often left unfinished.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so? I have no idea how I'd know but honestly, I think my writing is enough directed toward my interests/wants that it's not a prime candidate for stealing lol
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!! it's so cool!! and if she leads was translated into mandarin which!! is bonkers to me that's so much work
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I don't think I've ever actually done it. Isaac (@/lemeute) and I have co-developed a few ideas before but I think they went the way of the raccoon poll and sort of died in discord (though the yanqing AU did contribute to me drawing art!)
13. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Ah I really struggle with this. Really high up there, and probably chief in staying power, is Altair/Malik(/& Maria) and then in terms of ones that have sort of rewritten my brain chemistry it's like Stucky, Cartinelli, Cap2 Crew, Ranwan, Hualian, Destiel...uh I'm definitely missing some there but that's a sampler!
14. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
;A; oh god. I mean. a short list:
wulian au
yunmeng jiang everyone dies
bodyswap (mdzs)
light dancer (atla)
I have many more wips but they're in more varying stages of either "I don't actually care that much if I finish these" (all unfinished MCU fics) or "I will actually finish this" (sixteen stitches).
15. What are your writing strengths?
uhhhhhhhhhh i hate this question bc my brain is immediately like "here is a laundry list of everything ur bad at and ALSO ur wrong. abt the things ur good at." bc well. mental wellness. ANYWAY i think I'm like ?? pretty good at creating intensity in writing??? I've talked about it before as viscerality and it is that but also like emotional intensity. and I do think I can craft a pretty turn of phrase here and there
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
well. plot, for one thing. having one? executing one? keeping it consistent without giant holes for everything to fall apart through? nahh. Similarly, continuity overall is! not a strength. Do you know how many notes there are in TCP asking myself to just sketch out a blueprint of the palace where 90% of the first book takes place. can u imagine
there are. more. but i will pause there
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think it's something that needs to be done with intent and like. care. like, okay. actually I feel extremely subjective about this. Like on the one hand, I think there are times when I think using another language provides important connotative information that is lost when translating to English* (e.g., Wei Wuxian calling Lan Wangji er-gege or Jiang Yanli shijie which don't have very direct counterparts in English, but also if I were to write about my teacher calling me "chica" rather than "girl"). On the other hand, I think it's very important to be cautious (particularly as a white anglophone) about...like. Seasoning Ur Dialogue with Spicy Bits of Other Languages (I am struck by flashbacks of fanon Lance from VLD. bls.). ON THE THIRD HAND, depending on the POV of the work, writing dialogue in a different language can serve different functions in the text (e.g., if the reader knows what it means but the character doesn't, we can have some nice dramatic irony! when it's done well; if the character knows what it means but the reader doesn't, it can build suspense; if both know what it means, it can give insights into different character dynamics/backgrounds/etc.), but again, it should be done with care and intent.
uh i don't know that this actually answered the question or anything. i have feelings???? and minimally coherent thoughts?
*I am being so brave rn in trying not to go down a rabbithole about translation and meaning ;A;
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Marvel :')
19. What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
hh hold on i need to go holler at lise and huaqing possibilities
anYWAY yanqing, xianle quartet (variably romantic), erha*, huaqing*, the king's affection**
*technically i've written once for these but like. not fr fr
**I still haven't finished this bc I am inexplicably stressed abt my blorbos suffering but STILL
20. What's your favorite fic you've written?
oh gosh I feel like a broken record bc my fave fics have pretty much been the same for a long time but yeah, of swords and wings is still pretty much my fave largely because, even as it has aged (and I have become more critical of the actual writing), it was so finely tailored to my specific preferences, headcanons, and wants that it still remains quite loved
tagging anyone who wants to do this! (sorry, laziness wins)

9 people you would like to get to know better
Tagged by @renlyslittlerose, apologies for the delay, this has been sitting in my drafts for ages now 😅
1. 3 ships:
Obikin - I. Am. Obsessed. With these two idiots. My current hyperfixation with Obikin started in the run up to the Kenobi series when I went back and rewatched the prequels and TCW (weirdly Obikin as a ship didn't register for my poor oblivious bisexual arse when the prequels came out). They're equals, more intimate than lovers, two halves of a whole warrior, they spend a lot of their time together bickering like an old married couple. Ahsoka refers to them as her parents in TCW season 7. Where there is one, the other is not far behind. I'm sure it was @/gffa who wrote a meta about how (whether you view their relationship as platonic or romantic) Obi-Wan Kenobi IS the love of Anakin Skywalker's life. To me they are the Star Wars ride or die. They ended tragically in life (in canon). They lived happily ever after as force ghosts. The love was there... 😭. I am Unwell about them.
Ineffable Husbands/Wives/Spouses - An Angel and a Demon. Hereditary Enemies. Unapologetically queer. The Autistic + ADHD ship. The angel is a fussy hedonist who will cut a bitch if they damage his books. The demon is genderfluid and serves cunt on a regular basis (especially at the crucifixion). 6000 glorious, frustrating years of pining. Bad. At. Their. Jobs. Just fuckin' kiss already (heheh, yeah that didn't work out so well 😅).
Thoschei - The Doctor and The Master. They were never married. They're divorced. They're childhood sweethearts. They've killed each other at least twice. They change genders like most people change socks. They should've fucked (you can tell I have a thing for enemies to lovers, right? 🤣). They've both destroyed their own civilisation at least once. Whenever The Master shows up you never know if they're gonna kill each other or fuck nasty (or both). For once brief shining moment (Twelve x Missy, World Enough And Time) they could've been more. Again, they have this tragic thread of "it shouldn't have ended like this, but it did". Unlikely to have a happy ending ever (unless through the pages of fanfic).
Special shout out to: Rebelcaptain (my other SW ride or die), Mulder x Scully (see below), Ventrobi (what? I'm a multishipper, and these two are constantly flirting every time they fight. They totally fucked after Revenge), Blackbonnet, and Catradora.
2. first ever ship:
Mulder and Scully - I shipped these two before I even knew what shipping culture and fandom was. I remember 10 y/o me watching the first episode of The X Files (and being shit scared to fall asleep for months because I was scared aliens were gonna abduct me lol 👽) and just being hooked on the series. And as the series progressed I became hooked on these two and their partnership. My OG ride or die ship, they are the reason that most of my other ships have that ride or die, banter and bicker like an old married couple, best friends, equals, you cannot find one without the other, no one understands me like this person understands me vibe.
3. last song:
Cat Pierce - You Belong To Me
4. last movie:
Barbie.
Finally watched it last night. Currently have I'm Just Ken stuck in my head 💖
5. currently reading:
Dune by Frank Herbert.
I am. Obsessed. After watching the 2021 film - it's probably my most watched comfort film atm.
6. currently watching:
Loki, GBBO, Strictly Come Dancing, Ahsoka (rewatch), SW Prequels. After question 2 I'm wondering if it's time for an X Files rewatch.
7. currently consuming:
Mint and lime iced green tea (tastes better than it sounds) and rice pudding.
8. currently craving: Chicken noodle soup from my local Chinese takeaway.
I tag: anyone who wants to have at it because I am crap at the tagging lol 😆💖

B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
i fully blame seize and gem for getting me on the shadowidomauk train, regardless of the teif personality. seize especially has me in a chokehold re: their lucien and essek combo in one of their fics, which i have not read nor do i even know if its been posted but they keep sending me snippets like MOCHI YOU WILL LOVE THIS IT HAS ALL* YOUR KINKS and by dog they're right (*it is not actually "all" this is impossible as i have Too Many Kinks but)
also gem's essek-owns-a-boujie-coffee-shop au that has shadowidomauk as end game is cute as shit im sorry gem that i haven't had the spoons to edit more (its so good aaa)
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
i answered M with "ashton" over here in this post the other day but another character i would want to be friends withhhhhhhh hmmm lets say asterion. no i have not played the game but from the lore i have absorbed via cherry he is very much the kind of gay i would have fun having catty gossip with while also being the sort of rock for him to lean on and like..... not therapy him i hate being peoples therapist but the immovable object he can bounce trauma off and figure out How 2 People again. i think he would appreciate my bluntness and the way i set clear, explicit boundaries but am otherwise unflappable, and i would certainly appreciate his humour, and we can bond!! over the whole being ace as a result of trauma!! :D
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
answered U over here with ashton, kylo, and bucky over here but lets do it again!!
lets kick it off by going Old School with the Original Husbando ^TM: vash the stampede. you have no idea how jazzed i am about the new trigun anime (no i have not watched it i merely enjoy the smut on twitter) because vash is like, my og blorbo. did i have blorbos before? yes, kind of, but my Wants in a man* (*fictional character) had not yet developed so they were but proto-blorbos. vash tho... he has it all: tall pretty boy happy go lucky twink who is secretly Full Of Trauma but shoves it down super hard by being just so upbeat and goofy, and just really wants..... love and peace lmao. a lot of my blorbos historically have similar vibes in the "puts on an act to cover deep severe trauma" way lmao
next up: more anime i guess, but modern: i honestly super fucking love all might???? like SO MUCH he is such an interesting character and i desperately want to read fic of him grappling with his severe health issues alongside his image as a hero AND his mentoring of midoriya (preferably with that guud guud smut, but i have no clue who i'd ship him with, i only got two seasons in lmao). unfortunately, everything i like about him isnt even in cannon its just stuff that i, a cripple, can extrapolate from the worldbuilding and lil snippets we get of him but MAN i am o b s e s s e d
third!!! more comics: loki, specifically the agents of asgard loki. i am 100000% planning to cosplay that loki (i have the hair after all) and i am very excited because he is just so very Gender. it was the first time i saw a genderfluid character in mainstream media and his "i AM gender queer, i IDENTIFY as a bitch" like is something i quote constantly to describe my gender. also hes just such a dick who is obviously trying to do better and unlearn bad habits and god, i dont remember specifically what its about but he has a big fight with his earthside contact roommate buddy helper person over something and then comes crawling back and does this big speech where he talks about how he knows hes a fuck up but he's trying and he values her friendship so much even if he's been shit about showing it and it is chefs kiss
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
dragon age. just... i know so much vague dragon age lore from listening to cherry talk about it because it is their BIG love for video games (pending bg3..... not sure if itll overtake da but theyre very sad they cannot play it again til monday lmao). i absolutely instigated a convo with someone on okc asking if xyz thing was a da reference and i was rIGHT it secured me a date lmao
similarly, mass effect, batfam stuff, haunted mansion, nbc hannibal (dont ask me why its a fandom in law still i cannot explain), s8 infinity (???? i only know matcha blossom), the final fantasy mmo, taz......
you can ask me more of these letter questions!! i have much time to spare!! maybe!!!

I don't know if this is okay but what designs did you hate in heroes. To me I agree with lachesis as to me she looks like an actual child. She isn't in her source material. I don't have any complaints on dancer lachesis. She looks smug and young but not a child kinda young more young adult. I dislike base lysithea as she looks too young like an actual child. The worst for me is Loyd as he looks like a drug addict.
It's fine anon ! Don't worry, the real problem with Heroes is that it's a different game from the other. I mean aside from the fact it has SO many character.
That is to say that not only the design differs greately between character but also the artstyle since IS hire diffrent artist to draw different heroes even sometimes from the same game. Hating a design and an artstyle are different tho.
A design is the outfit for the character and how it is designed. A charac design is the basic appeareance of the character such as skin color, hair color, eye color, basic stuff. And those things remains more or less consitent even when a different artist with a different artstyle draw this character.
For example, anon, your complain seems to actually rely more on you disliking the artstyle choosen for those Heroes rather then their design since the differences between them and their OG design is small. It's possible to like a design but dislike an artstyle and from what you say, it seems to be more the case.
In the case of Lachesis here are her sprite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you compare her first OG art to her Heroes sprite her outfit aren't that different, however the artstyle does maker her appear youger due to it being a moe artstyle. Moe artstyle like Mika Pikazo's for example, those artist are good at drawing young characters however all character seems younger then their age. For example; Lucky Star anime uses that style, and the character despite being 17, look like they are nine !! It's more evident when you compare the different art she has gotten, with her Resplendant looking like she is 12 whereas her ball alt look closer to her age, 15-16. It seems more like it's an evolution since Miwabe Sakura drew both her base buil and ball build, but they couldn't look more different !!
Lysthea's main artist for the base build also has that style, hence why comparing to Chinatsu Kurahana this Lysithea looks like she is.. ten.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her artist, Yuichiro Enkyo seems to draw young character that way even though she is around the same age as Soleil and Selkie for whom they provided art as well, and they don't look that young.
As for Lloyd
Tumblr media
His design isn't that different, however his artist drew him thinner, his cloack his lighter and the reason why he gives you those vibes as to comes from the coloring and the rendering. His artist Pikomaro didn't use that kind of palette on character like Wrys or Bridal Charloote tho, despite it being the same artist.
That's for it. I agree with you on the artstyle looking weird compared to the OG art, but the design are relatively the same. The artstyle was probably not best appropriate for them. I am fine with Llyod, but I agree that Raquesis and Lysithea looks too young.
When it comes to speak of Heroes though, I choose to speak of OG character because speaking of design, if I choose one specific heroes, this means it's their usual outfit I don't like and therfore it's more on the I dislike said unit outfit in their OG game category.
I can give you an example of a design I like but artstyle I dislike and one design I hate despite liking the artstyle.
Tumblr media
For example, Respendlant Lucina's design. I like her outfit. But the artstyle is weird ? She looks like a toodler. Why did IS ask a moe artist to draw her when she is in her 19 in the main game ? Also, I am not a fan of the coloring in general.
And
An example of design I would hate are Loki and Seidr. Because their outfit makes 0 sense.
Tumblr media
How does this makes sense ? The palette looks pretty but the composition of the outfit is weird ??? How is there any harmony in the composition because ... her pants reminds me of Olivia's and I didn't like her pants in her default outfit because of how ridiculous it looked. Even though Yoshiku has a pretty cute artstyle.
So those are the first one to come to mind. Thanks for asking me and for sharing your opinion anon and sorry if it took a bit long to answer.
By the way, you can check out here to compare between the different artist for Heroes :List of artists - Fire Emblem Heroes Wiki (fandom.com)

Three Ships: (I... don't even know how I can pick 3 so I'll just pick the 3 most recent XD)
1. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad x Desmond Miles (Assassin's Creed)
My current OTP. Can't really be sure how they became my OTP but I just love writing them. The fact that they're both morally ambiguous (especially Altaïr during his AC1 days) makes it fun to think of different scenarios to throw them in. Definitely have the 'I'll kill for you' and 'I'll destroy the world/timeline to save you' vibes which I'm weak for. Also, the fact that they're centuries apart means I could easily add in time-travel fix-its which I'm weak for as well and the Bleeding Effect adds a touch of 'to be completely and wholly connected' setup that I can use whenever I feel like it. (To be fair, this is applicable to Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton as well and I do pair Desmond with them too but pairing him with Altaïr means more morally ambiguous/questionable setups XD)
2. Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd x Byleth Eisner (Fire Emblem Three Houses)
Speaking of 'I'll kill for you' and 'I'll destroy the world/timeline to save you', this pairing is the one that got me back into writing fanfic. The sheer potential of the three routes and Byleth's time-bending powers scratched my 'time travel fix it' weakness and the fact that Dimitri dies in all other routes not his own just makes my angst-with-a-happy-ending heart go hhnngggnnn.
3. Mio x Noah (Xenoblade Chronicles 3)
The development of their relationship in the main game got me. I don't normally like canon pairings, especially in JRPGs, but this one... The short moments of sweetness between them, the angst building up and culminating into those huge scenes in Chapters 5 and 6, the anguish in Harry McEntire's voice as Noah in those scenes, the absolute fuckery that is an absolute spoiler and... ugghhh. They're one of the few canon pairings I wish will have a happy ending.
(honorable mentions: sterek (the movie reignited what had long been embers because fuck that movie), merthur (they are the once and future otp), ghoap (shipped them casually in OG, loved them in the reboot) and hibatsuna/1827 (the pairing that got me writing fanfics in the first place))
First Ship: I had to think which pairing would be my first ship and I have concluded that it's Loki x Mayura Daidouji from Matantei Loki (although I do prefer Mayura's characterization from the manga). Mayura is the reason why I love pink-haired characters and their pairing has cemented the whole 'sunshine x loner/arrogant ass' otp trope for me. (I still believe in the theory that Mayura is meant to be Sigyn)
Last Song: Tranquility by Sawano Hiroyuki
Last Film: Teen Wolf (2023 Movie)
Currently reading: ... does the mission transcripts of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II count? If not, I guess the 120+ pages legal document my boss made me read for work XD
Currently watching: Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, (rewatching) Leverage
Currently consuming: Plain white corn
Currently craving: An all-you-can-eat buffet that gives me a food coma for an hour or so then makes me regret all my life choices later at night
Tagging @scrysthea, @fanworldbuildingfun, @kitsunesongs, @escapism-and-disassociation and @princesslikesfanfics but no pressure whatsoever. And anyone who sees this and wants to do it!

Thor (2011) edit that we deserve:
Midgardian scenes in the style of a whacky romcom
Asgard scenes in the style of a political drama (that actually has lighting so that we can see shit)
I feel as if it would enhance the experience.
Thor wears a pink tshirt at least once and Jane gives him a hairclip that survives his magical girl transformation. btw that is an actual magical girl transformations scene w like the colours and glitters and stuff and his armour changes to reflect his new ethics and values, but still keeps the asgardian style and colourscheme through, except for thors hairclip.
Thors new lightning is 50% brighter 50% more sparkly
Asgard has several instances of workers gossip stopping when Loki is percived.
Lokis costume gets progresively more opressive on the neck area to show how he is axfixiating more and more as the movie goes on. From the valut scene onwards he wears mid-forearm lenght gloves that catch the viewers eye bc THEY DONT MATCH THE OUTFIT. They have stark color that brings attention to them, i havent decided if they are bright emerald green w golden odin-based motif (crows, his spear, something like that) or a pair of golden ones w a green snowflake detail that we see odin wear and take off at some point.
We see frigga actively choosing to do nothing about the situation. She kind of does nothing in the og movie, but i want that to be clear.
The w4 do some snooping before going full on treason. Ask around, get the general workers vibe, u know the drill. They maybe even go to the archives 👀. The thing that gets them to tip over is that Heimdal is there researching seidr in the vault. He tells them he didnt see Loki entering the vault, but when Odin collapsed he was there.
They first brush it off but then go to see Loki to free Thor bc it has Been Known™ that Odin is in odinsleep and he is to take charge. Loki, of course refuses and the scene takes the same route as the og, Loki pulling rank on them.
W4 dont believe it. They get to the door of Odins chambers in the healing wing but they get told off bc they dont have the rank to do that. They get pissed.
They plan the treason.
Loki goes to his advisors and they dont believe/want to cooperate w him. He gets most of his war-preventing stratergies shut down on the basis that they are "childish" and he "doesnt know what he is doing". Loki ends up having to go and tell Heimdal to block off the bifrost himself. He is also shown to lose sleep trying to start off the war preparatives. He gets stopped again and again on the basis of... Well... Being Loki. His advisors/generals dont act unless given a direct order. Morale is low bc nobody wants a king constantly pulling rank on them.
He even overhears the rummor that he killed Odin to steal the throne and that is the last straw.
Thor has essentially the same beats and stuff except for the turning point is not him failing at taking his hammer back, but actually giving the chance to try it up for rescuing Janes notebook. He also learns a skill while on earth. To show his progress beyond war. Probably some diy sort of situation. The Loki scene takes place while he is hammering some nails and he gets spooked and hits himself, Loki comments on his weakness.
The destroyer is sent to kill the w4 (it is implied that loki tried to send soldiers but they refused). Thor regains his powers bc he protects some randos that would b caught in the crossfire, bc the destroyer is not even accounting for humans nd neither are w4.
Darcy expresses her approval for the destroyers phisical form (something to the likes of "he can destroy me iykwim")
Frigga is shown to have the ability to kill Laufey but choses not to. Some random healers in the room manage to fucking get the jotuns ass handled to them. Loki maims Laufey, but keeps him alive to show his army how good of a soldier is. Bifrost is set to destroy Jotunheim and Laufey is forced to watch.
Bifrost fight goes as always, the preppy upbeat motifs of the romcom get mixed in w the dramatic of the asgardian plotline. The only difference is that the destroyer is still being kept on bay by the w4 at the same time.
When the bridge colapses we see one of Lokis gloves get lost in the depths of space dramatically.
The destroyer gets destroyed... By Jane taking Darcys taser and electrocuting that bad boi. It explodes.
Back on asgard they sre celebrating after the funeral. Thor gets pissed off bc why are they celebrating his brothers death?
Thor goes to the dungeons and we see that Laufey has mostly recovered from his injuries. He tells Thor the story of how Odin kidnapped his son for diplomacy reasons. Thor does not believe him much, but still comes down to visit bc it seems as if he is the only other person apart from him that is actually mourning Loki. This is, of course, setup for The Dark World when Loki and Laufey are in neighbouring cells.
Odin is not celebrating either. He is caressing the other glove that Loki left behind. He tells Thor his version of the Loki """""""""adoption""""""""". Thor does not believe his version either, and he finds himself bothered by this fact.
W4 are to be retrieved whenever the bifrost is fixed (thor is helping w his newfound diy skills).
Back on earth, we see that w4 and the midgard team are working/living together in some sort of hybrid of frienship and determination, the motifs of the midgard plotline and the asgard one are in harmony.
The post credit scene is Darcy having a shrine made for the Destroyer. A bunch of bolts, some pics etc. In the center there it is.
The destroyers butt survived the explosion.

Feh talk: They finally did it! They got the 2 most fanservice OCs and put in the most fanservice banner! Duo Thor and Loki bring an ukelele and two pair of bongos!
Anyways, strong units in this banner but for me personally the banner is really skippable, specially considering that CYL in around the corner (and I used all my orbs on summer Claude)...
For units Eirika and Lyon have really nice art! Nifl in the other hand, looks really... awkward... again! In both her OG and summer form, all her poses looks so weird and her design always feels off! I guess I like her "I'm going to this trip but I gonna complain all the time" vibe tho.
Not much else to say. Feel a lil bad for Lyon tho... for what I see he is a fan favorite villain but looks like he got the "only here for fodder" treatment. Not everyone gets the summer Claude treatment I guess...
