When I dream of women and wire it means I fuck like a woman at war with her body. Where is my rope? I am witch. I am island. Or am I a love story poorly translated?
— Noʻu Revilla, from "Myth bitch," Ask the Brindled

Matt Reeves has the potential to give us the funniest comedic duo with Martinez and Bruce.
Martinez, bored out of his mind, sipping on his Barbie ice coffee: Gun to your head, would you rather kiss Joker or Riddler?
Bruce, who wanted a barbie drink too but was too awkward to order: Gun to my head? Pull the trigger
Martinez: wh E E Z E

Just thinking about Abysswalker Rafayel,,,
Thinking about how he's got you pressed up against the wall, blunt and gloved fingertips digging into the sides of your body. You can hear the stutter in his breath and the way it settles against his mask, desperate to escape. You'd tease him if it weren't for how insistently he's pressing his lips to yours, the phantom sensation of them against you. His tongue traces the shape of your lips over the leather as your mouth hangs open, bringing your arms under his and holding onto his shoulders tightly.
He's right here in your arms, so close yet so far. You wish that his overly complicated clothes would just disappear but it's almost like they aren't even there with the heat radiating off of his body. He's kissing you so desperately and your lips haven't even met yet. You make the mistake of looking into his eyes, drowning in the desire and yearning he can't act on.

I get to do a Greek myth presentation for my exam. Hahah..Fear me. I wrote the whole thing down in a single lesson (This project was meant to take 4 lessons in total)
The whole time I don’t think I blinked
Only Zeus himself can smite me down. I call it ‘Godly hyperfixation’ others call it ‘Diagnosed Autism’

the book trend that needs to be left in the dust for the new year is greek mythology retellings. i am so sick and tired of "retellings" of greek (or roman, but mainly greek) mythology from authors that clearly have a very surface level pop cultural understanding of the myth(s) they're adapting and the culture(s) they're depicting. especially the many that market themselves as "feminist retellings" where the "feminism" is basically just "men bad sometimes", and especially when they're "feminist retellings" that take some of the few mythological women who get happy endings and take it away from them for the sake of saying "men bad sometimes". it's all so shallow and they exploded this year and i'm sick of it.

I like to think that Achilles, Hector and Patroclus are all sitting in Elysium laughing together whilst hurling rocks at Paris in the Fields of Punishment

What do you think about the resurrection? I struggle believing in a bodily resurrection and in the ascension to heaven. I know most christians would disagree but do you think there are other ways of interpreting it?
i agree with you, and one of the big reasons i stopped considering myself christian was because i felt the incongruity between my perception of how god works in the world and the jesus myth*. there are some people who have sufficient spiritual flexibility to be able to acknowledge this tension honestly and still find their home in christianity, but i do not have this gift lmao (and i do wish i did). there are MANY interpretations of the resurrection and certainly a lot of people who care about orthodoxy would put pretty strict lines around what you can believe about it and still "be a christian" (like that poll going around a while ago where some people were extremely adamant that if you didn't believe in the bodily resurrection you couldn't be a christian) but i think that's silly. there is no way to know the objective truth of the historical events and unfortunately for those of us who like knowing things we all have to deal with that fact. some people meet god in a physical resurrection, some a metaphysical one, some a metaphorical one, and so on. i think god is flexible and gracious enough to inhabit all of these possibilities and more....god is passing osmotically through these barriers we set up.
so anyway to actually answer your question, at this point in time i would say i don't personally believe in a bodily resurrection (also i don't quite believe jesus was god in a different way than anyone else), and additionally the dying part was always more....impactful? to me than the rising part lmao. the suffering of god has always been a vitally important facet of my faith. what can i say my spirituality has always had a bit of a sadomasochistic overtone

Someone who knows very little mythos: Ares? A good man and a feminist? Yeah right. Ares is a misogynistic bitch who only think about war and bloodshed and doesn't care about anyone!

The fact that Horace (Ranger’s Apprentice) was the sunrise warrior in book 8 and the fact that Horus (Egyptian god) was a sun god is a connection that I don’t think Flanagan intended but is still very special to me

i know its been years but actually im never going to get over psyche being illiterate because not only is it really yikes that the one (1) character of color in this neon rainbow hellscape cannot fucking read, but its a perfect example just how little research into ancient greek culture and religion rachel smythe actually does bc a single google search will tell you that psyche, as a wealthy woman of high social status, would have absolutely been taught how to read and write.
