BASIC STUFF:
AdGuard AdBlocker / uBlock Origin : adguard is a basic adblock and with origin you can also block any other element you want. for example i got rid of the shop menu on tumblr
Tumblr media
Privacy Badger : this add on will block trackers. if an element contains a tracker it will give you the option to use it or not
Shinigami Eyes: this will highlight transphobic and trans friendly users and sites using different colors by using a moderated database. perfect to avoid terfs on any social media. i will explain how to use this and other add-ons on android as well under the read more cut
THINGS YOU TUMBLINAS WANT:
Xkit: the best tumblr related add on. with many customizable options, xkit not only enhances your experience from a visual standpoint, but provides some much needed accessibility tools
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonus: if you are into tf2 and wanna be a cool cat, you can also get the old version to add cool reblog icons
Tumblr media
AO3 enhancer: some basic enhancements including reading time and the ability to block authors and tags
YOUTUBE
Return of the YouTube Dislike : pretty self explanatory
Youtube non-stop: gets rid of the annoying "Video paused. Continue watching?" popup when you have a video in the background
SponsorBlock: gives you options to skip either automatically or manually sponsors, videoclip non music sectors and discloses other type of sponsorships/paid partnerships
Enhancer for YouTube: adds some useful options such as custom play speed, let's you play videos in a window and most important of all, it allows you to make the youtube interface as ugly as your heart desires. I can't show a full image of what it looks like because i've been told its eye strainy and i want this post to be accessible but look at this <3
Tumblr media
PocketTube: allows you to organize your subscriptions into groups
YouTube Comment Search: what it says

Web Archives: it allows you to search through multiple archives and search engines including WayBack Machine, Google, Yandex and more.
Search by Image: allows you to reverse image search using multiple search engines (in my experience yandex tends to yield the best results)
Image Search Options: similar to the last one
this next section is pretty niche but... STEAM AND STEAM TRADING
SteamDB: adds some interesting and useful statistics
Augmented Steam: useful info specially for browsing and buying games
TF2 Trade Helper: an absolute godsend, lets you add items in bundles, keeps track of your keys and metal and your recent trades, displays links to the backpack tf page next to users profiles and more. look it tells me how much moneys i have and adds metal to trades without clicking one by one oh may god
Tumblr media
IN CONCLUSION: oooooh you want to change to firefox so badly, you want to delete chrome and all the chrome clones that are actually just spyware and use firefox
HOW TO USE MOZILLA ADD-ONS ON YOUR PHONE
if you already use firefox on android, you'll know there are certain add-ons compatible with the app, some of them even being made just for the mobile version such as Video Background Play FIx. while most of them are pretty useful, some more specific ones aren't available on this version of the browser, but there's a way of getting some of them to work
you need to download the firefox nightly app, which is basically the same as the regular firefox browser but with the ability of activating developer mode. you can find how to do that here. once you've enabled it, you need to create a collection with all the add ons you want. i wouldn't recommend adding extensions if the creators haven't talked about phone compatibility, but XKit and Shinigami Eyes should work
also, don't tell the government this secret skater move, but you can try using both the regular firefox browser and nightly so you can have youtube videos in a floating box while you browse social media.
Tumblr media
see? i can block this terf while Rick Rolling the people following this tutorial. isn't that tubular?

When Facebook came for your battery, feudal security failed
Tumblr media
When George Hayward was working as a Facebook data-scientist, his bosses ordered him to run a “negative test,” updating Facebook Messenger to deliberately drain users’ batteries, in order to determine how power-hungry various parts of the apps were. Hayward refused, and Facebook fired him, and he sued:
https://nypost.com/2023/01/28/facebook-fires-worker-who-refused-to-do-negative-testing-awsuit/
If you’d like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here’s a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/05/battery-vampire/#drained
Hayward balked because he knew that among the 1.3 billion people who use Messenger, some would be placed in harm’s way if Facebook deliberately drained their batteries — physically stranded, unable to communicate with loved ones experiencing emergencies, or locked out of their identification, payment method, and all the other functions filled by mobile phones.
As Hayward told Kathianne Boniello at the New York Post, “Any data scientist worth his or her salt will know, ‘Don’t hurt people…’ I refused to do this test. It turns out if you tell your boss, ‘No, that’s illegal,’ it doesn’t go over very well.”
Negative testing is standard practice at Facebook, and Hayward was given a document called “How to run thoughtful negative tests” regarding which he said, “I have never seen a more horrible document in my career.”
We don’t know much else, because Hayward’s employment contract included a non-negotiable binding arbitration waiver, which means that he surrendered his right to seek legal redress from his former employer. Instead, his claim will be heard by an arbitrator — that is, a fake corporate judge who is paid by Facebook to decide if Facebook was wrong. Even if he finds in Hayward’s favor — something that arbitrators do far less frequently than real judges do — the judgment, and all the information that led up to it, will be confidential, meaning we won’t get to find out more:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/12/hot-coffee/#mcgeico
One significant element of this story is that the malicious code was inserted into Facebook’s app. Apps, we’re told, are more secure than real software. Under the “curated computing” model, you forfeit your right to decide what programs run on your devices, and the manufacturer keeps you safe. But in practice, apps are just software, only worse:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/06/23/peek-a-boo/#attack-helicopter-parenting
Apps are part what Bruce Schneier calls “feudal security.” In this model, we defend ourselves against the bandits who roam the internet by moving into a warlord’s fortress. So long as we do what the warlord tells us to do, his hired mercenaries will keep us safe from the bandits:
https://locusmag.com/2021/01/cory-doctorow-neofeudalism-and-the-digital-manor/
But in practice, the mercenaries aren’t all that good at their jobs. They let all kinds of badware into the fortress, like the “pig butchering” apps that snuck into the two major mobile app stores:
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2023/02/pig-butchering-scam-apps-sneak-into-apples-app-store-and-google-play/
It’s not merely that the app stores’ masters make mistakes — it’s that when they screw up, we have no recourse. You can’t switch to an app store that pays closer attention, or that lets you install low-level software that monitors and overrides the apps you download.
Indeed, Apple’s Developer Agreement bans apps that violate other services’ terms of service, and they’ve blocked apps like OG App that block Facebook’s surveillance and other enshittification measures, siding with Facebook against Apple device owners who assert the right to control how they interact with the company:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/12/10/e2e/#the-censors-pen
When a company insists that you must be rendered helpless as a condition of protecting you, it sets itself up for ghastly failures. Apple’s decision to prevent every one of its Chinese users from overriding its decisions led inevitably and foreseeably to the Chinese government ordering Apple to spy on those users:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/11/foreseeable-consequences/#airdropped
Apple isn’t shy about thwarting Facebook’s business plans, but Apple uses that power selectively — they blocked Facebook from spying on Iphone users (yay!) and Apple covertly spied on its customers in exactly the same way as Facebook, for exactly the same purpose, and lied about it:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/14/luxury-surveillance/#liar-liar
The ultimately, irresolvable problem of Feudal Security is that the warlord’s mercenaries will protect you against anyone — except the warlord who pays them. When Apple or Google or Facebook decides to attack its users, the company’s security experts will bend their efforts to preventing those users from defending themselves, turning the fortress into a prison:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/20/benevolent-dictators/#felony-contempt-of-business-model
Feudal security leaves us at the mercy of giant corporations — fallible and just as vulnerable to temptation as any of us. Both binding arbitration and feudal security assume that the benevolent dictator will always be benevolent, and never make a mistake. Time and again, these assumptions are proven to be nonsense.

Making your phone useful🤍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're like me, you're going to want to have a phone that is pretty, functional, and productive to the max. We've gotten so obsessed with our phones, mindlessly scrolling, most people don't even realize how they can make they are spending around 3 months a year on their phones (say 6 hrs a day, which used to be my screen time!)
Here I'll be covering some tips to declutter your phone and apps to help boost productivity.
⭐Decluttering⭐
Clean out your gallery:
Delete old screenshots, accidental pictures of the floor or wall, ones with bad lighting, etc. Empty the bin once you're done. You'll get more storage and a cleaner photo gallery.
Delete apps you no longer use:
You know the ones. The apps you downloaded to try out but never bothered to delete? Yeah. Get rid of them. Remove apps that sit unused like Solitaire, etc.
Delete social media:
You heard me. Delete. Your. Social. Media. Especially if you have an addiction. I had the worst Instagram addiction 5 months ago and decided to end it after flunking my math exam. I'm not saying delete your account. Just log out, and delete the apps from your phone. This will prevent mindless scrolling and make way for more productive things to fill your time with. Reinstall the apps once you have more control over yourself.
⭐Productive apps⭐
Duolingo: Learn a language
Sudoku: Good to increase focus
Lithium: E-reader app for mobile phones.
Notion: Vast app for organization
Study Bunny: Study time tracker
Habitica/Habit Rabbit: Habit trackers
Samsung Notes: Amazing note-taking app (on par with Goodnotes in my opinion)
C25K (Couch to 5K): Really helps if you want to run marathons easily.
Flo: Period Tracker
Water Time Tracker and Reminder: Cute graphics to remember to drink your water
Our phones are mines of information, and if used correctly, you can jump miles ahead of the people running in circles on social media, digesting the same content. Delete things that no longer serve you and see how your life and mental health improve. I believe in you. xoxo

out of character for me, I wanted to make a bit of a PSA about something that I think most people in the ad industry are talking about, but hasn't really penetrated the public consciousness yet. Here it is:
Use a different email for every site you sign up for
You may or may not have heard about it, but browsers and operating systems are getting rid of tracking capabilities. This includes plans to get rid of third-party cookies and "consent based" access to advertising identifiers on iOS. These changes represent a large increase in privacy for casual internet browsing, but they force advertisers to look for new and sneakier ways to track and target people—in some senses, they are the "starting pistol" for the ad tracking arms race.
The most common and profitable replacement for many sites, including most social media networks, is so-called "first party identifiers"—that is, using the information that you provided to the website when signing up, like your email address or your phone number.
These first party identifiers are then shared with all advertisers, so that e.g. if you view an ad on tumblr.com, and you recently made a reservation on Airbnb with the same email address, or viewed a livestream on twitch, advertisers would have access to a "profile" of you that marked you as someone who might be interested in rentals, or as someone who might be interested in specific videogames, or streamers. This is most common right now with mobile apps, due to Apple's big IDFA push, and because it's easier to get users to sign up for an account and provide their phone number. (And possibly because there seems to be less oversight and publicity around mobile app tracking—it requires a much more specialized skillset and larger time investment to reverse engineer an app than it does to build a browser extension to track trackers). But these exact same tactics, once perfected in the mobile app ecosystem, are probably going to continue to show up on more and more web sites if and when browsers continue to remove advertisers' tracking capabilities for larger and larger numbers of users.
There is also very little visibility into how these datasets are managed. In theory, depending on the companies involved and the datasharing agreements, you might even be able to buy browsing history for a specific (known) email address—and without any of the individual companies involved having sold your data. These data sharing agreements are structured as advertising revenue for targeting, where advertisers will pay more money for ads with this first party data associated with it, but any advertiser who participates in these ad slot auctions gets notified that so-and-so's (hashed) email address viewed such and such a website at this particular time, and they could theoretically use that data for whatever purposes they wish (depending on the contracts they have with the advertising exchanges and data sharing providers in question).
Anyways, this has been on the horizon for a long time now, but it's becoming increasingly important and increasingly common. Use a different email address for every site you sign up for. Don't give people your phone numbers. Ask companies whether they use account data for ad targeting, and make a big stink about it when they do.

Do you have any tips on how to be more present? Im trying to stay off my phone so I can focus on my art and so many other things that need my attention but im struggling. Sending you love🫶🏼
Delete social media apps and only use them on your mobile web browser. Not having apps like twitter and insgagram on my phone reduces mindless scrolling because every use is intentional. An alternative, I haven’t used it, but there is an app called “one sec” that forces you to take a breath and wait a moment before opening a social app. Both of these methods are called “friction” between app use.
Keep a habit tracker in your journal or download a digital one and incentivize yourself when meeting goals for the week. For example, if you meet all of your daily habit goals for the week you can purchase something small you’ve been wanting or get a sweet treat.
Go to sleep with your phone on your dresser or somewhere across your room. This will stop you from checking your phone first thing in the morning. Commit to not using your phone for the first hour of your day and the last hour of your night.
Utilize your Do Not Disturb and Focus features! Less notifications means less reasons to pick up your phone.
Pick one day out of the week to be your project day. Even if you only designate half of the day; it should be your day to intentionally turn your phone off and work. I did this when I was studying for my board exams. Inform your friends and family of this so they can hold you accountable — you’ll have no one to send tiktoks to or socialize with online then!
A personal goal I have set for myself this year is to make things easier for my future self. If I have a thought to do something, I will do my absolute best to do it right then as opposed to some unidentified time later on. My future self is always grateful.

pairing: daniel ricciardo x femalereader
summary: being married to daniel ricciardo is probably the best things that has ever happened to you. even at times when you struggle with period cramps, he's just there to help his beloved wife.
warnings: pure fluff, tiny mentions of sex
Tumblr media
THE STRIKING PAIN ceased you from your pleasant dreams, causing you to gasp aloud. Catching your breath, you looked over to your sleeping boyfriend. You were very much relieved to find that you hadn't woken him to be honest.
Daniel Ricciardo had been nothing but busy at work and constantly traveling around, and the idea of waking him up by accident simply because of late-night period pains just didn't sit right with you. But thank goodness that you hadn't accidentally woken him with your sudden consciousness. You couldn't stand the idea of being the reason for him possibly tired at the upcoming race tomorrow.
Slowly, you got out of bed and went into your bathroom. You gently closed the bathroom door and turned on the lights.
As you looked at yourself in the mirror, you thought that only one word could describe your appearance: tired.
At that moment, you couldn't help but wonder why you had to deal with this monthly pain. Nor did you understand why your medicine to relieve the pain hadn't started working?
Sighing at your reflection, you turned on the tap water and you splashed some of the liquid on your face, hoping it would ease some of your discomforts.
Much to your disappointment, it didn't. Releasing a deep breath once more, you decided it was best to make yourself some sleepy time tea and try to sleep through the pain.
You turned off the lights to the bathroom and looked across your darken bedroom to where your sleeping husband laid. Daniel looked angelic in his sleep, to say at least. His brown curls hugged his peaceful features. You adored every single part of him.
So far, it seemed that you hadn't woken him up, which pleased you. But here came the tricky part, which was going downstairs without causing any sound.
You doubted that Daniel would hear you go downstairs, but there were times where you had left the bed for five minutes in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and this action had stirred him awake.
You figured you had a 25% chance of not waking him up. And though the odds weren't the best, your cramps had convinced you otherwise. It was either your discomfort of hours or the 75% chance of waking your husband up, and you picked the former.
・❥・
Daniel woke up the second he heard the steps creaking. Instantly his protective instincts and kicked in. But as he turned toward where he thought you laid only to find you gone. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Daniel remembered something important. It was your time of the month again. Which meant your insomnia was back.
Daniel had insisted on letting him install the period-tracker app on his mobile phone too. He claimed that he wanted to be alarmed when that time of the month was just around the corner in order to buy you lots of chocolate bars and candies, which he knew you adored. He felt bad for you. That was the least he could do so as to help his wife.
Each month you had to go through this, and each month it affected you. He knew it was natural, but fuck... he wished he could take your pain away... Which he always did. If you wanted to have sex to relieve your cramps, he was always the one to suggest it, and he was all up for it.
If you need some chocolate or a heating pad, he would get it without asking twice. But there were times when he realized that you refused to disturb him, which is most likely the reason you had left him in bed tonight.
Quickly, but quietly Daniel got up from bed and put on an old university sweater so that he wouldn't be too cold in just his boxers as he searched for you.
He didn't want to alert you that he was awake. Yet because your house could be creepy sometimes because it always seemed that each step taken in the home would alert anyone of movements.
Thankfully, Daniel had the proper training to help him with his stealthy movements. He didn't know how... but as the years passed with him being in F1, his reflexes and elasticity were surprisingly excellent. So there was a chance that you wouldn't be able to detect him at all.
Your husband couldn't help but nearly snicker as he thought about all the times he had accidentally snuck up on you. You often had threatened him by stating you'd put a bell on him if he didn't stop scaring you. So far, you had yet to put a collar on him... Except for sexy times in the bedroom, that is.
As he made his way downstairs, he found you sitting at the kitchen table with a cup in hand. He gave you a weak smile, but the expression you gave him didn't seem as sweet. If anything, it was a look of confusion and perhaps regret.
"I woke you, didn't I?" You asked lightly, causing him to frown.
The way your voice broke, made him feel like he had done something wrong. It got worse when he watched as you covered your face in shame and started to cry.
"I'm sorry, darling. I just- It's that time of the month again. And I just feel terrible for waking you. Especially since you've had nothing but stress with your upcoming race."
Suddenly, Daniel rushed over to you as you finished your confession. Kneeling, he held your face between his hands and whipped away your tears as they dripped down your cheeks. Smiling kindly, he replied, "Mrs. (l/n)... you could never bother me with your problems. I don't know if you remember, but when we exchanged vows, we promised to love each other in sickness and health until death do us part, my sweet. I see your sickness as my own. I know we're newly married, but darling, I am so in love with you that I'd do anything you ask me to do. Whatever you desired, I shall fulfill it. Don't ever feel bad about your period, my heart."
"My sweet husband... I don't want to burden you with something as trivial as my period. You shouldn't feel like this routine thing is a priority."
"You're my priority, though. I know I'm a pain in the ass, but I'll stop at nothing to please and comfort you." With that, he kissed your forehead, and you knew no matter how much you tried to convince him, he'd refuse to let you be alone. Frankly, you refused to be away from him, so you saw no point in convincing him to leave you alone anyway.

what's the deal with firefox
Boy howdy, am I glad you asked! I'll be comparing Firefox to Chrome and Edge.
Firefox uses fewer resources than Chrome or Edge, meaning that your browser and other apps will run faster and your battery will last longer on mobile/laptop.
Firefox is privacy-focused, meaning the browser doesn't gather data unless you opt into it, and by default it blocks third-party cookies, trackers, and other things that track you across the web. You can choose between standard, strict, and custom blocking, plus install privacy tools from the add-on store. This will protect your personal data and help websites load more quickly.
Speaking of ad blocking, Firefox supports ad-blocking extensions on Android devices, unlike the other Big 3 browsers. I don't even use the YouTube app on my phone anymore because if I watch via Firefox, I get no ads. I can actually read articles on news sites without being spammed by ads! It's amazing!
Firefox has equivalent add-ons for almost all Chrome extensions, so you won't lose functionality when you switch.
Firefox accounts allow you to sync across devices, just like Google accounts allow Chrome settings to sync, so moving from desktop to mobile or vice versa is very simple.
The Mozilla Foundation, Firefox's parent company, is a non-profit which advocates for online transparency and users' rights to keep the internet usable for everyone.
Firefox is free, open source, and non-proprietary, and allows you to opt out of all sponsored content, unlike Chrome or Edge.
Firefox does not tie you down to a particular product or corporation, such as Microsoft or Apple. It works on any platform.
Cutest mascot by far.

There’s lots of Witchcraft within our modern times that can be done online. Especially mobile. Many people have a phone even if they don’t have a computer. This makes carrying a digital grimoire and/or secret craft a lot easier. Yet there are some, that still struggle with finding some good resources. So this post is made for just that.
Keep in mind that everything is meant primarily for phones, since that’s the most common thread among digital Witchcraft.
Tumblr media
Free Apps
⚜️ TimePassages: An app for astrology lovers! It has a moon tracker as well as daily horoscope (if you’re into that) but one of the best features is its extensive and detailed birth chart information. It includes a birth chart wheel and all its aspects. It’s a great source for working with planetary energies within and without the self. It’s an all around great app.
⚜️ Rock Identifier - Stone ID: There are several apps that claim to identify stones and Crystals but this is the highest rated and the one I enjoy the most. It not only identifies the stone but can offer a bit of info on some of the beliefs around that stones energy.
⚜️ About Herbs: This is a wonderful app that doesn’t get enough love. It’s an app that discusses medicinal advantages and disadvantages of various plants. They are presented by the Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center, and provide links to the research to back up their claims. They also make it clear that they are for informational purposes and not to self diagnose, or self medicate without proper treatments from your doctor. They are a wonderful app for those who prefer herbal medicine.
Tumblr media
Web Sites
⚜️ Divination:
Tarot: This website sells their decks but also gives free single card draws for all of them. What’s great about it is that while tarot does have basic meanings they all share, the artwork on each deck plays a significant role in each meaning, making the reading far more unique then the average deck
Runes: A fairly simple and easy to use rune generator. They offer several spreads as well as the history behind the practice and meanings on each rune.
⚜️ Sigil Generators: Each website offers a different style to the sigils they create. Each as well has a downloadable feature for those sigils you make.
Sigil Engine
Psychic Science
Sigil Scribe
⚜️ Digital Altars: Digital altars can play an important role for the TechnoPagan. So these are some makers that you can use to make your own.

Salsa, a web3-native messaging platform that helps users discover and connect with relevant people and brands, released its mobile app into public beta today, following a $2 million pre-seed raise.
The new Salsa mobile application helps web3 users form meaningful connections by using social proof from on-chain data to add context to wallet-native messaging. While web3 users create valuable data on-chain, they currently communicate on web2 platforms like Telegram and Discord that don’t natively understand the data. This results in a fragmented user experience and impersonation scams.

How your phone documents your abortion experience and what to do about it! By: the Digital Defense Fund
Risk: receipt for payment for your abortion and/or travel in your inbox Alternative: Make an email account just for this purpose, then delete it after
Risk: period tracking app shares your data Alternative: Use a privacy-driven period tracker like Euki App
Risk: search history saved in your phone's browser, and with your ISP (internet service provider) Alternatives: - Use a privacy-driven search engine, ex: DuckDuckGo - Install a paid VPN to hide websites you visit from your ISP - Browse with Tor or Firefox - Use a private browsing window, or delete your browser history
Risk: payment history for your abortion in a banking or payments app Alternative: use cash or pre-paid gift cards where possible
Risk: ad tracking & location tracking from apps, browser history, & social media activity Alternative: in your phone settings turn off location tracking & mobile ad ID
Risk: sensitive text messages about your abortion experience are kept forever Alternative: use an encrypted chat app, ex: Signal or Wire, with disappearing messages turned on (important!)
