Mike has a feelings for you (fluff)
Tumblr media
Prompt: While babysitting Abby she tells you that Mike has a crush on you
Pairing: Reader x Mike Schmidt
----
“I can’t believe I have to fucking work today,” Mike says, pulling his gray security shirt on. “I told them I can only work during the week!”
Your best friend scrambles around the living room, looking for his phone, keys, and wallet- all of which are in various places. You are currently sitting on the couch, watching all of this unfold. He was always leaving his items in various places. How many times had you told him to leave them in the same spot?
He finds his keys and phone and shoves them into the back pocket of his jeans.
“Where is my wallet?” he says, running his fingers through his already messy brown hair.
“Did you check your room?” you ask.
He quickly leaves the room and returns moments later with his wallet in his hand.
Mike let’s out a sigh and looks over at you. “Are you sure you’re ok watching her? I can always call Max.”
“I don’t mind watching her at all,” you tell him.
You stand up and walk over to your best friend. Wrapping your arms around his waist you pull him into a tight hug. He instantly relaxes and wraps his arms around you.
“You have no idea how amazing you are,” Mike tells you, smiling.
You laugh as Mike takes a step back and towards the front door.
“Thank you so much for watching her,” Mike calls. “I owe you!”
“Hey Abs,” you say, sitting down on the edge of her bed. “What are you drawing?”
Abby smiles and passes you the sheet of paper. There is a white house with a large tree and three people standing out front. A man, a woman, and a child.
“You have to tell me who everyone is,” you say, pointing to the three people.
Abby stands up and comes to sit besides you on the bed. Her small hand points to the man on the page, “That’s Mike,” she moves her hand to the woman, “you,” and points to the child, “and that’s me.”
You weren’t shocked that you were drawn- Abby tended to draw the three of you alot. Mike and you had been best friends since middle school and you loved Abby like she was your little sister. Most of her drawings were things the three of you had done together or what she wanted to do with the two of you.
“And who’s house is this?” you question.
“We all live there together,” Abby states.
“Oh, that sounds fun,” you reply.
“Yea! Because you and Mike are going to get married!”
Abby’s comment throws you off. Not once has she ever asked about your and her brother's relationship.
“What makes you think we’re getting married?”
“Because Mike has a crush on you,” Abby says, shrugging.
You laugh. “No he doesn’t.”
Abby nods her head. “Yes he does. He says your name a lot in his sleep.”
“But that doesn’t mean he has a crush on me,” you tell her.
Abby’s silent for a moment then answers quietly. “You make him smile and laugh and he’s always happy when you’re around. He’s not like that around anyone else.”
Her answer surprises you but kids are very perceptive. Instead of pressing any further, you tell Abby to start to get ready for bed.
“Do you have a crush on Mike?” Abby askes as you tuck her in to her bed.
“Oh…um…yea, I do,” you tell her.
Little does Abby know but you are in love with her brother.
Abby smiles and nods and you turn the light off, closing the door behind you as you walk back to the living room.
—-
Abby falls asleep quickly and you sit in the living room watching tv. Your mind keeps going back to conversation with Abby. Does Mike really have a crush on you?
Abby doesn't know it (well maybe she figured it out) but you’ve had feelings for Mike for a long time. You loved your relationship with Mike and didn’t want to jeopardize it so you never made any indication or moves towards him. You had hoped that maybe he would be the first one to make a move but he never did.
All of the sudden it hits you, how tired you are. You stand up from the couch and stretch and slowly walk back towards Mikes room. This isn’t the first time you had slept over. Many times after Abby had gone to sleep, you and Mike would stay up together, hanging out. At first Mike insisted that you sleep at his house but now he didn’t even have to say anything- you would just crash on his bed, next to him.
It doesn’t take long for you to fall asleep and a few hours later, the bed dips slightly as Mike lays down next to you- waking you but only for a brief moment.
—-
The sun peeks through the curtains in Mikes room and the smell of bacon and pancakes wake you up from your sleep.
The spot on the bed next to you is disheveled -the only evidence that Mike has slept there.
As you lay in bed for another minute, you hear voices drifting down the hallway. You can’t make out what they are saying but you can tell it’s Mike and Abby.
Standing up, you walk into the hallway but hang back for a moment- waiting to see what they are talking about.
“Did you know that Y/N had a crush on you?” Abby tells Mike.
“How do you know?” you hear him ask.
“She told me,” Abby states matter of factly.
It’s then that you decide to walk into the small kitchen. Abby and Mike are both sitting at the small kitchen table, eating bacon and pancakes.
“Morning,” you say, walking over to the coffee maker.
“Morning,” Abby and Mike say at the same time.
Mike's hair is sticking up in various directions and he looks like he just woke up. His dark t-shirt hugs his frame and you know he’s wearing his favorite pair of flannel pajama pants.
“I’m going to go draw,” Abby says, leaving you and Mike alone in the kitchen.
Mike watches as you pour yourself a glass of coffee but don’t turn around to face him.
“So,” he begins. “Abby told me something interesting…”
“And what was that?” you question, although you already know the answer.
“She said that you have a crush on me.”
“Oh. Why would she say that?”
“She said that you told her you did.”
You turn around to face your best friend, your eyes locking with his. His cheeks are slightly pink and it makes you feel better that this conversation might be slightly embarrassing for him as well.
“I-uh-,” you stammer.
Mike stands up and walks over to you and your back presses against the counter. He slowly moves his hands to your waist, waiting to see how you’ll react. When you don’t move away, he grips your waist, his brown eyes locking with yours.
“What if I told you that I had a crush on you?” he says.
A soft smile crosses your lips and Mike reaches up and places his hand against your cheek, his thumb moving in small circles.
You move your arms up and snake them around his neck, waiting for him to make the next move. His body is pressed against yours and you can feel his heart pounding against his chest.
Within moments, he leans down and brushes his lips against yours before pulling away.
“Why did you stop?” you tease him.
He smiles as his presses his lips against yours and they move together, almost as if the two of you had done this before.

basement noise * fem!driver
logan starts to feel a little left out
pairings: logan sargeant x fem!driver, sebastian vettel x fem!driver, oscar piastri x fem!driver
notes: hey surpRISE AND EARLY UPDATE WAHOOOO i'm trying to finish up her 2023 year before i start moving onto her 2024 season <3
(series masterlist) | (📂 the rookie season)
Tumblr media
logan stares at the unanswered text message in their group chat, clicking his tongue as he glances at the time at the corner of his phone screen. it’s been an hour since he sent his text message.
he’s not saying his friends are ignoring him, but it is slowly starting to seem that way. his call time to the paddocks isn’t as early as theirs and that’s why they’ve arrived way before him.
he sighs. since the season had begun, it hasn’t been easy to integrate himself into the grid unlike his two other friends. oscar’s gotten along with lando and is doing great with his team. meanwhile she’s done exceptionally well, and even if she wasn’t, max and some of the older drivers seem to have taken quite the liking to her.
which shouldn’t be all that surprising to him. she had already found herself a new group of friends even before the season had started. from the kickstart of the pre-season testing, max had already paraded her around like he was a proud older brother.
sure, he has alex. by default. because they are teammates. but realistically, alex will always find himself preferring george’s company to his. they’re best friends, after all.
logan presses his lips together as the team car slowly comes to a stop right outside the paddocks. he glances at benny, focused on his own phone, texting his wife.
so he just keeps to himself as he alights the car. hopefully, he’s kept busy enough this weekend not to notice the distance that might go unnoticed by his friends, but is very prominent for him.
just as he walks through the gantries into the paddocks, he watches the smaller girl walk past him unknowingly, engaged in serious conversations with marta and susie. she’s turned the other way, so she doesn’t even notice him.
when he approaches the livelier areas of the paddocks, noticing oscar walking around with lando. oscar does notice him, smiling at him politely before he makes a sharp turn into the mclaren garage.
logan just sighs again, navigating his way to the williams garage with a weight in his chest.
Tumblr media
“i’ll see you again later before your race! i promise!” she shouts, waving her arms in the air as she leaves susie and marta. she runs through the paddocks, truthfully unaware of where she is heading.
when sebastian had asked her to meet him somewhere, it could be anywhere in the paddocks. it could very easily well be at the aston martin home where fernando is hanging out, or their own.
she feels around in her pockets for her phone, halting in the middle of the crowd. she turns around, ready to chase susie to ask if she’d left her phone in her office by chance. but she can vividly remember where she left it in her driver’s room right before she bolted out, late for a lunch date with some of the drivers from the f1 academy.
she clicks her tongue, picking up her feet to start running again. she hears max calling out for her but she’s late, from what she can tell.
if only she was better at restraining herself from staying extra minutes just to hear the latest paddock gossip over lunch. but she couldn’t help herself as she increasingly got invested, giggling in her mind about how she’s going to tell logan everything in the evening when they leave the paddocks to get ice cream.
she arrives at the aston martin home, chest heaving as she approaches the one person loitering outside the building. “lance!”
the canadian whirls around at the call of his name with wide eyes, shocked that the younger girl is calling for him. yes, he is terrified of her, but that’s a story for another time.
“yes?”
“has my race engineer been kidnapped by your grandpa?” she asks, hands on her hips and slightly hunched over as she tries to catch her breath.
“my,” lance takes a deep breath, “grandpa?”
“fernando. has fernando kidnapped my race engineer? he told me to meet him, but i don’t know where.”
lance presses his lips into a thin line. “have you tried texting him?”
she sighs, shaking her head. “no, i left my phone in my room. i don’t have the time to go and get it.”
“oh!” lance perks up, reaching into his back pocket and offers it to her. “here, you can use my phone.”
she mutters a soft thank you as she takes the phone into her hands, navigating lance’s contact list. she raises an eyebrow and looks at him. “you saved my number as grid princess? really?”
“we all have your number saved as that.”
“i-“ she shakes her head, finding for the number she needs. “not important.”
she presses the phone to her ear as it rings, hoping that sebastian answers his phone. hopefully he’s not as forget as her.
“lance?”
“no.”
“you sound different, lance.”
“seb! it’s me! i left my phone in my room.”
“oh, (y/n)!” there’s a pause. “why are you using lance’s phone?”
“i can’t find you,” she mutters, shaking her head in shame as lance watches her. “tell me where you are or i’ll be even later for our meeting. was it over a cup of coffee or what?”
“coffee. come quick.”
Tumblr media
“come on, mate.” logan stares at alex blankly, watching the older driver tug at his hand towards the door of his room. “you’ve got to join us for a snack. george is buying food.”
“i don’t feel like eating,” logan mutters, retracting his arm immediately. he lies on the massage table of his room, moving his hand under his head. “go without me.”
“i can’t!” alex frowns. “your best friend told me to take care of you. i can’t grab food and leave you here by yourself.”
logan shrugs. “if you’re only inviting me because she told you to, i don’t wanna go.”
“what?” alex tilts his head. “no, george asked me to bring you! we’re sneaking out of the paddocks for a bit to get food! come on! the local food here is amazing.”
“i don’t want to go.”
“logan.”
“alex?”
“i’m telling james you’re locking yourself inside your room again. he won’t be happy.”
logan looks at alex without moving his head, the glare shooting daggers at the older driver. alex raises his eyebrows with a small smile, never having seen this emotion in the rookie.
“i don’t care if you tell him.”
“fine, be that way,” alex sighs dejectedly. he doesn’t want to use more names as a bargaining chip, but it seems that he will have to resort to exactly that. “i’ll just tell oscar and (y/n) you’re being like this.”
logan scoffs, dropping his phone by his head. he breathes out exasperatedly and rolls to lie on his back. “as if they’d care.”
alex, already halfway to the door, stops in his tracks and turns around. “mate,” he trails off softly, “what do you mean by that?”
“it’s so obvious,” logan sighs again, turning to face the wall. “she’s always with max or whoever. i’m alone.”
“i’m here with you right now.”
logan furrows his eyebrows. that’s not what he means. alex probably knows that too. “i just wanna be alone right now, alex. i’m sorry.”
“oh, okay. i’ll bring you something back.”
logan turns around quickly, chasing for alex’s presence. “alex, wait.”
alex turns around just as before he is able to close the door. he’s hopeful that logan would join him and george for some food — the rookie often spending time with his two best friends means that he doesn’t get many opportunities to get to know him outside of team content and meetings.
“don’t tell them i said that, okay?” he sighs before looking down to avoid the curious brown eyes. “i don’t want them knowing i feel that way.”
alex hums. sometimes he sees his younger self in the rookie. the rookie’s often introverted demeanour makes it very easy to sympathise with him, especially when he had a rough couple of years in another team all by himself. he knows what it feels like.
perhaps what logan needs is space. hopefully he opens up soon, and then alex can finally put his mind to rest with some reassurance. because it’s not like his performance is helping him out with his confidence. he’s been there, done that.
“okay,” alex nods. “your secret’s safe with me.”
Tumblr media
lando hums, looking around the paddocks. his eyes lands on his teammate, who is simply staring off blankly at the grandstand as he chews away on his sandwich.
“what?” oscar asks monotonously, still looking ahead with his eyes half open. he’s sunk into the small seat situated at the edge of their garage with his leg over the other. “i can feel you looking at me, mate. what is it?”
“oh,” lando says softly, chuckling to himself. he sinks into his own seat and turns away to take a bite from his own sandwich. “nothing. i was just wondering where dumb and dumber are.”
he sees oscar perk up with realisation, turning to look at him slowly. his eyebrows are furrowed at the sheer realisation of what’s been missing the entire day. he lets out a soft “ah” before he turns to look at the grandstand again. “i don’t actually know. we’ve been so busy today — i hadn’t even noticed.”
the older driver laughs, nodding along. “yeah, we only get busier from here, mate. i haven’t texted max back still. actually, i don’t even know where my phone is.”
oscar laughs, licking his lips. “neither do i. i barely even got to have a 5 minute phone call with lily this morning. i had to leave so early.”
“just one more interview and we’re free,” lando sighs, shaking his head. truthfully, he’s grown quite tired too. for someone like him, running out of energy to be talking to everyone doesn’t come often. but it feels like the day is finally getting the best of him.
he’s simply dreading the next interview they’ve got. he doesn’t know how many more fake laughs and forced smiles he’s got within himself. he doesn’t want to do small talk anymore. he just wants to head back to the hotel and get some sleep for what friday has to bring them.
“getting ice cream with the powerpuff girls tonight?”
oscar laughs with a simple nod. “of course. she’s not going to let a weekend by where we don’t try some local ice cream.”
Tumblr media
“alright, good meeting,” sebastian grins at her, slowly closing his laptop. “so you know what to do this weekend, kid? confident you’ll score some points?”
“of course,” she laughs with a small nod. “i’m ready to tackle the weekend.”
sebastian stands up, holding the laptop against his chest. “good! so, where are you headed to now?”
she smiles. “hopefully off to take a shower and start getting ready for my ice cream date with the boys.”
“ah! exciting,” sebastian grins. “well i’ve got one more meeting. you’ll be okay on your own?” she nods. “okay, well, if you leave before my meeting ends, let me know, alright?”
“of course!” she beams with a grin. she spots a familiar shade of blue across the paddocks, beaming when she spots logan in the crowd of williams personnel. she tries to push past sebastian, who’s now opening the door, and attempts to dart out to stop logan for a quick conversation to confirm their ice cream date that evening. before she can make it to the top of the steps, another familiar face pops up in front of her with a wide smile.
sebastian greets max before quickly excusing himself, leaving the girl with the older driver. “hi?”
“hi!” max greets her with an excited wave. “are you busy? i need your help.”
she opens her mouth, deciding her answer as she peeks over his shoulder. she answers with a soft ‘yeah’ as she watches the crowd of blue walking away and disappearing from her sight. “what is it?”
“we’re going to the uk for a vacation this summer and p’s coming along with us. i wanna plan something — she really wants to meet you.”
Tumblr media
logan sighs to himself, leaning up against the railing of the stairs leading up to the andretti racing home. he looks around the paddocks and then glances down at his phone for the time. everybody is late. could it be possible that plans were cancelled without him knowing?
could it be that her and oscar agreed to call raincheck without remembering to let him know? which would them simply confirm his suspicions that he is slowly losing his best friends.
but there’s no other time but tonight to get ice cream together. unless she’s planning to get it with somebody else? he huffs to himself and pushes himself off the railing to start his journey back to his hotel room for a lonely night. that was, until he hears a voice calling out to him.
“oh, logan! are you waiting for her? why don’t you come in and sit down while you wait?” sebastian smiles, letting the door close behind him. he walks down the steps, immediately noticing the sadder aura around the boy.
sure, he knows that logan is typically soft spoken by himself, but he believes that he knows logan well enough now that he is comfortable being himself. “is something wrong? the media picked you apart again today, kid?”
logan looks up and quickly shakes his head. he rubs the back of his neck and hisses softly. “no, it’s not that,” he laughs sheepishly, trying to ignore the heavy weight on his chest. “have my plans been cancelled, seb? did i not know?”
maybe he should try opening up to sebastian? if anyone knows what it’s like falling out with a friend, sebastian is definitely one of those people, right?
he watches sebastian process his words. he immediately regrets opening up to him. “ah, forget it.”
“no, no! i’m glad you’re opening up to me,” sebastian snaps out of his trance and puts a comforting hand on his shoulder. “i’m not judging you. i get it. are you feeling okay?”
logan shrugs with a soft frown. “i don’t know. just a little weird — my text in the group chat from this morning’s still unanswered.”
sebastian stares at him, trying to come up with the words to try and make him feel better. until it hits him. “oh! is that what you’re concerned about?” sebastian laughs, pulling logan into his side for a hug. “she wasn’t ignoring you! she left her phone in her driver’s room and never had the time to go back in to get it. we were riddled with interviews and meetings all day. then max hijacked her early in the evening to plan something with penelope.”
logan looks at him, skeptism written all over his face. “are you serious?”
“i’m serious, kid,” sebastian confirms with a firm nod. “and i ran into oscar and lando earlier. they were super busy too. oscar even told me he can’t wait to finally sit back and relax with you guys at the ice cream parlour.”
as if on cue, oscar pops up from the corner of the racing home with his bag lazily strung over his shoulder. “why are you guys hugging?”
sebastian frowns. “what’s wrong with that?”
oscar shakes his head, blinking rapidly. “nothing, i suppose.” he rubs his eyes and groans. “i’m just a little tired, probably. i can’t wait to get some ice cream.”
logan feels the weight slowly lifting from his chest. logan slumps his shoulders slightly with a grin. he tries to confirm sebastian’s allegations. “i haven’t seen you all day, mate. busy day?”
“busiest i’ve had in a while,” oscar yawns, covering his mouth. “i haven’t even gotten to talk to lily at all today.”
the door swings open with a loud shriek, their body suddenly knocked back by a body throwing itself against them. he looks down in shock at the smaller girl who has her arms thrown around his and oscar’s bodies. “hey!”
she hops back excitedly, hair pulled back into a new hairstyle. “ice cream?” she nods excitedly at logan and then she turns to oscar, repeating the question.
oscar throws his head back with a laugh. he wraps an arm around her shoulder, and smiles. “of course. i’ve been looking forward to ice cream with you guys all day.”
sebastian finally steps away from him with a small smile and a thumbs-up. he returns the gesture, his warm smile finally putting the older man at ease. it would be a shame to watch a friendship as genuine and great as theirs fall apart. as much as he can, he would like to make sure that their authenticity never ever leaves them.
“come on! i wanna go and walk around town after we get ice cream,” she shrieks, reaching out to pull logan along with her. she glances at sebastian. “would you like to join us, seb?”
sebastian laughs, politely declining her offers. “i just want to take a nap after the day we’ve had.”
she nods, wrapping an arm around logan’s torso as they start to walk to the exit of the paddocks. “which one of you’s driving tonight? cause it’s definitely not me.”
“i’ll drive,” logan nods willingly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and giving her a soft squeeze. “i heard you left your phone in your room all day. how’d you survive being apart from your phone for that long?”
she throws her head back with a groan. “barely! i can’t believe i went the whole day without chatting with you guys!”
oscar scoffs. “clingy.”

part one | part two | part three
every piece of you wants to stay, especially as abby looks up at you with big eyes and pouty lips, her small fingers holding onto yours like a lifeline.
"i'm sorry, sweetheart. tonight's not a good night."
abby gives you a heartbreaking look but she lets you go, sputtering out a reluctant, "okay."
there's a different look on mike's face (though you suspect it's in a similar strain) but you offer him a smile and a soft kiss on the cheek before he steps back inside and shuts the door behind you.
though regret settles in his chest quickly and only intensifies with each unanswered ring of the phone as he tries to calls max. mike groans as he hangs up the phone, glancing at abby with the realization that he's out of options. abby catches on, too, a glint in her eye as she smiles.
"i will work, and you will sleep..."
it's almost 7 pm. usually, you'd be eating dinner by now. before your few days of solitude, you'd be laughing and talking with abby while you did. now, for the past half-hour, you'd been standing in the door frame of your kitchen, trying to decide whether or not you should eat by yourself or drive over to mike's.
the landline ringing pulls you away from contemplating the very difficult decision.
"hello?"
"hey," mike's voice greets you and you feel your heart flutter. "are you busy tonight?"
you lean against the wall, twirling the phone's cord around your finger. "hmmm, i don't know. are you asking me out?"
mike is quiet for a moment, shocked silence - he'd almost forgotten how easily you make him blush. "not tonight, baby, i'm sorry."
you can hear the smile in his voice and you can't seem to frown.
"no, it's something more... serious. can you come over? it'll be easier to explain."
"give me ten minutes."
mike groans. "ten minutes too long."
you laugh, giving him a sweet bye before hanging up, picking up your keys and giving your kitchen a quick glance. really, at this point you should just move in.
you've barely arrived on mike's doorstep when the door swings open. you're in mike's arms before you can say anything, your arms wrapping around him like it was a natural instinct. mike's face presses into your neck, intoxicating himself with your scent. your presence is a comfort and your arms give mike the sense of safety he's been chasing for years.
mike sighs into your shoulder and you pull away to press a kiss on his cheek.
"something's wrong?" you guess.
mike nods, his arms pulling you close again for just a few more seconds before letting you go (not completely, though - his hand finds yours instantly).
abby's in her room and mike drags you into his. you take a seat on his twin size bed and he follows, making a dip in the mattress that makes your legs press against each other.
there's a book and a tape recorder on mike's bedside table. your eyes wander to the space above mike's bed, where something previously taped has been ripped off.
okay, it hasn't been that long since you'd been in here...
"okay," you nod, ready to listen to whatever it is mike has to say. you're patient as he hesitates, only momentarily, before he finally tells you a few very important details he'd left out from your last conversation. like how he's been reliving his childhood trauma for the past month or so.
you really try not to be upset. you hear the desperation in mike's voice as he tells you that dream... whatever-ing at freddy's has gotten him closer than ever to figuring it all out, finally. his hands shake as he pulls out a folded up paper from his back pocket. you could recognize abby's art from anywhere.
"and look! i... i don't know how, but they're connected, somehow. the kids- they posses the robots and they can talk to abby! they told her about garrett. they know something."
"mike." your hands are on his, urging him to slow down.
"look, i know it sounds crazy." mike's gaze is serious as he looks into your eyes, pleading for you to not think he was a total nut case. "i want you to come with us tonight."
"mike-"
"no, i'm serious. you can see for yourself." and mike is looking at you so desperately.
you sigh. "okay."
mike looks like he’s still ready to convince you, not expecting you to agree so easily.
and then his hands are on your face and he’s kissing you like his life depends on it.
“i seriously-” mike says breathlessly between kisses. “don’t know what i did in a past life to deserve you, but you are… amazing.”
and so you keep your grievances to yourself. you’re really not sure if you’ve gone one step forward or taken two steps back but mike is pulling you into the kitchen to have some of the soup he’s made and there’s really no time to gather your thoughts.
but there is time for the worry you've been feeling for mike to come back tenfold.
abby is somehow more excited than mike to hear that you’ll be tagging along tonight, jumping up and down and thanking you as if you’d just told her she'd won the lottery.
she’s still buzzing in the car and mike’s hand stays steady on yours as he drives. his face is grim as he looks ahead, his eyes occasionally rising to glance at abby and falling on you at a red light (mike would've completely missed the light turning green if it weren't for your hand squeezing his).
but that feeling in your chest only grows and it's starting to make you feel sick. you’re really not sure what you’ve just agreed to.
mike pulls into the front of freddy’s, parking line long since faded. it’s your first time, but even you can point out the cop car not quite fitting in with the rest of the picture.
“vanessa’s here,” abby comments.
"yeah," mike nods, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.
"my friends talk about her sometimes," abby begins softly as you come up beside her, taking her hand.
"really?" you ask curiously. "what do they say?"
"that she's nice."
"abby," mike starts with a huff. "if i asked you to wait in the car, would you?"
"no." abby smiles before turning to you. "come on!" if her legs weren't so small, you're sure she would've lost you as she dragged you along.
"abby, wait!" mike calls uselessly.
"guys, i'm back!" abby announces as soon as she enters the large party room. "and i brought someone special!"
"abby."
"hey, vanessa!" abby is unstoppable, pulling you until you're on stage, right in front of her... friends.
"abby!"
you're frozen, standing there as you watch the giant mascots come to life, seemingly without anyone controlling them. they tower over you, large bodies whirring as they turn towards you. their expressions were limited, but you could tell by the way their eyebrows pointed and their mechanical eyes squinted that they did not like you.
"guys, it's okay!" abby assures before leaning in to whisper something. she giggles, and the animatronics... relax, returning to their normal expressions.
"okay, that's seriously freaky," you admit under your breath, watching as abby smiles and laughs with the mascots.
you stay by abby's side, reaching out to wrap a protective arm around her, eyes never letting any of the animatronics out of your sight.
there's a tug on your sweater and a look in abby's eyes you know too well.
abby presents to you, mike, and vanessa a rough blueprint for a fort made entirely by crayon. when abby reveals that she wants to build a fort for all of you, including the animatronics, you can't help but give her a look.
she doesn't seem to notice, caught up in all the excitement, but you catch mike's eyes and know he's sharing your sentiments.
"abby, look," mike starts, hand on abby's shoulder. "now, this is all really fun and exciting, but these things are big, and they could be dangerous, so i think we need to lay some ground rules, all right?"
"we're gonna watch our fingers and our feet," you add warmly.
"vanessa, what do you think?"
it's quiet as the two of you look up at her - mike has told you that vanessa knows a lot about freddy's (though he suspects she knows more).
"i think we could use the tables for the fort." vanessa smiles at abby, hanging back as abby runs off. mike's eyebrows furrow in confusion, but vanessa only throws him a triumphant look before joining abby.
"everyone, follow me! come on."
it's definitely a unique experience, building a fort with animatronics possessed by dead children. but they lift and build alongside you and soon enough, they're more endearing than terrifying.
you catch vanessa trying to bring a table over by herself, quickly placing yourself on the other end and helping her lift.
"thanks," she says quietly, tight smile over her lips. "so, you and mike...?"
"together," you confirm with a nod. "for a while." there's a bit of awkward silence and you really can't tell if there's something you have to clear. "if you were interested-"
vanessa laughs, but you don't give her a chance to confirm or deny.
"-he's pretty... clueless when it comes to those things." you offer a smile and vanessa shakes her head, mouth open to say something when a stray chair catches your eye.
"hey, careful," you stop abruptly before vanessa can trip. she looks to her right and kicks the chair away with her leg.
"thanks," she smiles.
"yeah." you smile right back.
"okay, they're kind of cute," you quietly admit to mike after bonnie's little fall.
"seriously? you too?" mike frowns and you can't hide your laugh.
"what? i'm just saying, i get why abby likes them so much."
mike shakes his head, disbelief in his face as abby waves the two of you over.
"i mean... they're still just kids, right?" you whisper to mike, voice holding a hint of sadness that you try to shake off, tugging mike along to congratulate abby on her genius engineering.
"i like it in here," vanessa calls from her spot on the other side of bonnie.
"me, too," you admit, fingers lightly interlaced with mike's.
"me, three," abby grins. "but... i think it's gonna rain soon."
"sounds like we need a roof," vanessa smiles as she sits up and you can't help but appreciate how she got along with abby. "i'll go see what i can find."
"we'll, uh... we'll come with you," mike calls, pulling you up from your spot so suddenly you almost fall on bonnie. "sorry!" you whisper, patting his arm gently.
"yeah, i take it back, this place is creepy again." you shudder as you enter the storage room.
"what are you looking for, exactly?" mike inquires as vanessa begins digging through a bunch of boxes.
"tablecloths!" she responds like it's obvious. "they used to keep 'em back here for big events."
"right. and remind me how you know that?"
"mike." you warn.
but vanessa won't answer the question and you can feel you start to suspect her knowledge of the place, too.
"found 'em." vanessa smiles as she begins digging into a box and pulling out some fabric.
"god, what is that thing?" your gaze lands on a very creepy looking piece of metal slouched in the corner.
"one of the older models," vanessa comments casually. you stare at her, watching her fold the fabric to make it manageable, barely even glancing over. no, that definitely wasn't common knowledge.
"don't!" vanessa's urgency makes you jump, your head turning to see mike almost stick his hand somewhere it definitely didn't belong. "i wouldn't do that. they're spring locks. they're on all the older ones. they were designed to keep the animatronic parts in place, so that, uh, a person could safely wear the suit. they tend to be pretty unstable. let's see..."
vanessa picks up a broom to demonstrate, sticking it right where mike's arm would've been.
the metal snapped it in a split second. the visual makes you and mike both cringe.
"like i said. unstable."
"is there anything else you'd like to tell us about, vanessa? cause you seem to know everything about this place." mike's words throw no direct accusations, but his tone does. "and what'd if abby'd come in here? what if she'd found that thing?" mike's voice rises and he's on vanessa's tail, forcing you to follow.
"you're the one who brought her here, mike, not me," vanessa spins around. "what i can't wrap my head around is why."
and mike has no choice but to share what he'd told you earlier. e sighs, glancing at you as he begins his confession.
"all right, look. i think that they know who took my little brother. i can't explain it, but when i'm here, i feel closer to garrett. my dreams are more vivid, and it... it's like i can almost..."
"change what happened?" vanessa offers and you're positive she knows something. not even you reacted this calmly.
mike nods.
"did you ask them about this?"
"yeah, i tried. i don't think they like me very much. but... they do like abby."
and that's when it all clicks. you remember your phone call with abby, how mike refused to take her with him. how something about that conversation with mike hadn't sat right. you'd thought it been the whole dead children possessing giant robots then, but you realize what it is now.
"so that's what this entire thing is about? using abby to solve this?" your arms cross now, eyebrows furrowing as you turn to mike.
"okay, i'm not using her, i just asked her to ask them-"
"mike, you said yourself this place is dangerous-"
"yeah, and we're watching her."
a silence settles on the three of you as you realize that, no, you aren't.
you lead the way as the three of you pick up the pace on your way out of the storage room, vanessa and mike picking up their discussion.
"mike. you need to drop this."
"i don't really see how that's any of your business."
"i'm tellling you, you need to let it go."
"who the hell are you?"
"just someone who's trying to help."
you burst out of the dark storage room, eyes trying to find abby in the dim light.
"abby!" you cry, watching her get closer to bonnie - a hand coming up to string his guitar.
"wait, abby, don't!" vanessa cries, but all of you are too late.
sparks fly and abby's on her back, unresponsive when you get to her.
"abby? abby!"
her eyes finally open as she coughs and you breathe a sigh of relief.
"what happened?"
"it's okay, abby. you just had an accident. you're okay." vanessa pulls abby up into a hug - away from you and mike and you watch as his face falls. "i'm so sorry."
vanessa helps abby up and you take abby's hand. "alright, princess, we're gonna get you home."
you have a feeling the argument between them isn't over, so you open up the backseat for abby and get in with her, letting her wrap her arms around one of you and use you as a pillow.
you were right - it wasn't over. though it really wasn't an argument as it was mike getting yelled at and it makes you guiltily reminiscent.
but you don't move into the passenger seat even as mike gets it, already letting him know you're gonna have your own talk once you get home.
"she looked so angry," abby comments tiredly, her head resting against you as you soothingly run your fingers through her hair. "why does everyone always look at you that way?"
mike sighs quietly and you swallow thickly. "let's try to get some sleep, abs." you say quietly, a hand coming up to rub her shoulder.
really, all you did was blink. your eyes flutter open and see the sun has risen during the short drive from freddy's. you're warm, whether it's from the sun's rays or mike's gentle hand on your leg. you're still half-asleep, not really hearing what he's saying, only able to notice how beautiful he looks with the sun shining on him like that.
you almost forget you're upset with him.
mike carries abby in and you let him tuck her into bed (something tells you he needs it more than you do). your feet quietly drag on the carpet, turning into mike's room and pulling on something cozier (and that doesn't have the dingy, lingering scent of freddy's).
you're lingering in mike's door frame, only a few feet away as mike exits abby's room and closes the door quietly. your arms are crossed and you might be frowning as mike bites his lip. you know he knows. you don't trust yourself to even sit on mike's bed, the temptation almost impossible to resist even out of the corner of your eye, so you make your way down the hall to the dining room and mike wishes he could watch you walk around in his clothes under different circumstances.
you sit in the sunlight, silently, and mike thinks he'd rather you yell at him than this. he picks at his cuticles, ripping at a hangnail until it's gone, a little red spot slowly taking its place.
birds chirp brightly outside as you gather your thoughts. you don't want this to be like last time and you're trying really hard to be patient with mike. you can't imagine what it's like to lose a sibling, but he could've lost another last night. wasn't that enough to snap him into reality?
"mike," you begin and mike hopes he never hears you say his name like that again. "i would never ask you to let something like this go," and mike sighs at the familiar request. "but it's becoming... too much."
mike looks up at you now, eyebrows furrowed, ready to be angry. "'too much?' what does that mean, 'too much?'"
you're careful with your next words, taking mike's hand softly, reminding him that you do love him.
"i mean, we got lucky. abby... abby could've gotten seriously hurt."
"okay, it wasn't like i forced her, she wanted to go."
"and you were against it until you realized those... things liked her!"
mike pulls back, his jaws clenched.
"you don't understand."
"so help me, mike. help me understand, because i'm really trying to."
"finding the man who took garrett is the only thing that matters to me!"
"so abby doesn't matter?" and mike falters. "i don't matter?"
mike's heart churns and his head drops. "that's not what i..."
"yeah," you sigh, crossing your arms. it's quiet again and mike can't manage to look at you.
"mike," there it is again. "this is becoming an obsession."
mike scoffs. "it's not-"
"yes, it is! tell me mike, how many nights have you been going there for the past... month?"
mike can't answer. he truly doesn't know. he's still trying to think of a response when your hands are on his face, forcing his eyes to look at you. your fingers sweep over the bags that have taken the spot under his eyes for a while now, wishing you could rub away the dark hues. you thumb over the hair on mike's face - he hasn't shaven in a while, but he hasn't taken care of himself in longer.
"you haven't been yourself, mike. this was the problem the first time. i'm just.. worried, alright?"
mike's heart sinks as he starts to see all of the stress on your face, too. your tired eyes and the small frown on your face. something in him aches and he regrets ever dragging you into this.
your eyes catch the time and you sigh as your hands drop mike's face.
"i have to get to work."
"w... work?" mike stammers. why would you agree to tag along if you had work in the morning?
"call me if you need anything. please." you press a kiss to mike's cheek before taking off, leaving mike to sit there in silence.
he sighs, rubbing his eyes. his body is exhausted but he can't rest. not until it's finished.
"hey, it's mike. i need your help."
that night, you linger in the living room. mike hasn't called, but you just can't shake the feeling that something's not right. you take a seat on the couch, that awful sense of dread in your stomach keeping you from doing anything else.
you're not sure when the exhaustion catches up, but when you wake up it's dark outside and you're not sure if the ringing you heard was just in your head.
and then your answer machine begins to play a bright voice you could recognize anywhere.
"my friend's taking me to freddy's! i don't know where mike went but i'm mad at him... what? okay! i have to go-"
the message ends abruptly and your hands feel clammy as you replay it.
it takes a few more minutes and more than a few deep breaths before you race to your car, fingers fumbling as you get in and hit the gas.
something's wrong. you can feel it.
you're barely in the parking lot of freddy's before you're out of your car, panting and having no idea how you'd made it without getting pulled over.
you approach the entrance and consider yelling out mike and abby's names on the off chance they'll pop out and assure you everything's okay. but before you can get too close, a figure is running out towards you, pulling you towards the side of the building and out of sight of the cameras.
"vanessa?" you're surprised to see her outside of her uniform, holding something that looks dangerous and with a frantic look in her eyes. "vanessa, what's wrong?"
her eyes fall on you as she tries to even out her heavy breathing and she looks wild.
"they've got abby."
"w... what do you mean? they like her, right? they won't hurt her?"
vanessa shakes her head quickly, her eyes teary and her voice quivering. "mike, he..."
"vanessa, please."
"they want to make her like them."
your heart's in your throat as you follow vanessa through the vents, dust and anxiety making it hard to breathe. you feel like you're going to be sick and you would push vanessa if you weren't sure that she was going as fast as she could. the vent cover is already off, making it easier for the two of you make it to the party room. bonnie and freddy are down on the stage, but you and vanessa are crouched and quiet, trying to listen for where abby could be over the sound of your own heart pounding.
foxy doesn't notice as you come up behind him and vanessa electrocutes him, your arms immediately fishing for abby as she screams.
"it's okay," you assure quietly, pulling abby in tightly, the relief you feel so intense tears almost slip out of your eyes. "you're okay."
"foxy!" abby calls out as she backs out of your arms, eyes sad for her friend.
"we're gonna get you somewhere safe so we can go help your brother, okay?" vanessa says worriedly, eyes checking over abby as her hand rubs her shoulder. her eyes fall on you and you nod, picking abby up and listening to vanessa's directions towards somewhere safe.
though there's not much you can do but chase after abby once she spots her brother on the floor, unconscious. you're on your hands and knees, eyelashes fluttering hazily, not quite able to process seeing your boyfriend bloodied and bruised. not quite able to fathom what it'll mean if he doesn't wake up. abby's screams don't quite reach your ears as her small hands try to shake him awake.
"mike, please." you don't even recognize the sound of your own voice, so desperate and shaky.
at last, mike stirs, weakly twisting onto his forearms.
"the drawings," he chokes out. "the yellow rabbit hurt your friends. show them what really happened."
mike's weight is on you as the two of you stumble through the dank hallways, lights flickering and mike panting. "here, here," mike directs and you pull him into a control room. mike stumbles as he reaches for a box, steadying himself against the dusty wall as he grunts, flipping the switch from off to on. you're not sure what it does but your arm is around mike again, pulling him out of the room as quickly as you'd gotten in.
there's a layer of sweat on your face as you push past a door, the last door that finally leads you back to abby.
she calls your names as she runs over, away from the man who's been behind it all. you let mike catch his breath for a second as you pull abby close, the three of you watching as the yellow rabbit is finally punished.
lights begin to fall, shattering the instant they hit the ground.
"alright, we gotta go." you scoop abby up, mike using you as support as you try to navigate your way out safely. you bite back a gasp once you see vanessa on the ground, pale and unresponsive.
"okay, okay." you set abby down and you and mike crouch down to each sling one of vanessa's arms over your necks. mike stumbles, almost falling as he tries to stand and your face tightens with worry.
"hold my hand," you instruct abby. "hold tight. don't let go."
the animatronics are dragging the yellow rabbit somewhere, but you can't spare any attention, focusing on not dropping vanessa and making sure mike is still upright. you're almost at the exit when the ceiling starts to come down, your own panting mixing with mike's pained grunts as the four of you finally make it outside.
"abby, i need you to open up the car for me, okay?"
abby nods and grabs your keys, running up ahead to click the button on your keys. the lights blink and she opens up the back for you and mike to sit vanessa in. you strip yourself of your sweater, laying it over vanessa as abby climbs into the opposite side. "hold her tight, alright?" abby nods, clicking her seat belt before holding onto vanessa's arm. good girl.
you help mike into the passenger seat, kissing the top of his head as he continues breathing irregularly, holding his side and gasping.
you're not the best example for abby as you skip your seat belt, shoving your keys into the ignition and turning them quickly. you peel out of freddy's, trying to remember the quickest route to the hospital. you're way over the speed limit, but not an ounce of you cares.
"keep putting pressure on it," you manage out, hands sweaty against your steering wheel. mike holds himself steady against your dashboard and your eyes constantly bounce between the road and mike, so distracted you almost drive on the curb as you pull into the hospital. it's okay, it's okay, you repeat to yourself as you head straight for the emergency room.
it'll be okay.
mike is cleared first. it's been a few hours and abby's asleep in the chair next to yours. the pounding of your heart kept you awake, tired eyes waiting expectantly each time a staff entered the waiting room.
finally, someone called you over.
"he's awake," the lady with the clipboard says with a smile and you gently shake abby awake. she's still half-asleep as the two of you are led to one of the hospital rooms, bright daylight shining in from the window making your eyes hurt.
but then you spot mike, raised up in his bed and awake and breathing and the weight on your shoulders is gone.
"mike!" abby cries happily, running over to throw her arms around her brother.
"careful, abs," you say softly, though you're barely containing your own excitement.
"no, no, it's okay. i can barely feel a thing," mike assures, pulling abby up into a tight hug.
you come up behind her, the tears you've been holding for hours finally finding their way out, relieving some of the pressure in your chest.
"hey, come here," mike says softly, his arms, still so strong, pulling you close. abby digs her way in again, head resting against your back until you pull her in, too. "i'm okay," mike whispers just before you all let go.
"yeah," you nod, wiping your face before abby can see. "you're okay."
the ride back home is exciting, the three of you making a stop for abby's favorite fast food before you make it home. abby is reluctant to let go of mike as you all trudge in, but her little eyes are closing and she'll wake up with a sore neck if she falls asleep on the couch.
you go straight for mike once she's tucked in. you're pressing him against the wall as you kiss him, careful not to hit any of the bruises on his face. there's no argument from him as his hands find your hips, his thumbs pressing softly into your skin. the both of you are trying to articulate your feelings through the desperate kisses you share, lips swollen and breathing heavy by the time you're finished.
but mike's had something on his chest for a while now, too.
"you were right," he breaths out, chest still heaving from the kisses. "about everything. i was stuck in the past and i wasn't focusing on what was right in front of me," mike's hands are on your face now, making sure you're looking at him (as if you could tear yourself away). "you and abby are the most important things in the world. and i... i love you."
your eyes are wide as you glance from one of mike's big brown eyes to the other, watching him watch you desperately. his eyes stay steady on yours, his fingers slowly thumbing over your face.
"i love you," he whispers again, reveling in the feeling of the phrase slipping off his tongue. "i love you." one more time, just for good measure.
and then you're grinning so wide, your face suddenly warm under mike's hand. your hands are on his, pushing them a little to catch mike in a kiss, completely different than before - this one's slow, the two of you dragging it out as long as you can, each trying to engrave the other in their memory.
but that's not where you want to live. so you pull away and cup mike's face in your hands, forcing him to be present with you again.
"i love you, you idiot. and i'm gonna make sure you know it every single day."
mike nods as he buries his face in your shoulder. he thinks he's crying and you might be, too. there's so many words he wants to say, but he can't quite figure out how to string them together. there's promises to for him to make and to see through, but for now, mike settles on one phrase, repeated into the material of your shirt. he's not even positive you can hear him, but he knows you know.
"i love you. i love you. i love you..."

what about Maxie finding out that the reader hid the fact that she’s sick since she knows how protective he is. Perhaps a spanking since he found out through another person #RepeatThatBlurb
It's so funny how often I get messages of people just randomly 'thinking of Maxie" 😂 and you can tell that we all have kinda just created our own delusional fantasy world Max.😚 Anyway let's get it. 💖

Standing outside of the Red Bull motorhome, now that it has been mostly cleared of Qatar paddock visitors, Max had his fingers typing away on his phone letting you know how media day went. You were absent this weekend, as you told Max that you had to stay and prepare for an event you were going to in LA, but that was a lie. It wasn't a major lie, because there was an event, but said event wasn't for a couple of months. And sure, a race weekend without you wasn't exactly ideal for Max, but he was getting through.
"Hey, sorry to hear Yn wasn't feeling well. I know that's a presence that'll be missed this weekend." Carmen approaches Max with a gentle touch on the arm as he continued tapping out a long text to you, a habit he only just started after you and him began dating. He was at a part where he was reassuring you that he wasn't anymore snarky than he usually was during the press conference, but hearing Carmen's condolences made him stop in his tracks.
"No, she's just staying home because she had to start getting ready for a trip to Los Angeles..." He adjusted the cap on his head and puts his phone in his pocket, pausing his text to you. The squint he gave Carmen made her simultaneously want to run away and spill every secret she knew.
"It-it must've just set in. I, uh, texted her to let her know that she was missed in the paddock today and she replied saying that she didn't feel well and...oh." As Carmen read the text on her phone verbatim, her voice trailed off as she realized the mistake she made. "Damn it."
"And what?" Defeated, Carmen just turns the phone to Max so he could read the rest of the message himself. 'Makes sure Max doesn't find out, he doesn't know I'm sick.' was what it read. "You can't be fucking serious."
"Sorry, I didn't-I'm just gonna go..." Carmen begins to back away when Max pulls his phone out of his pocket. What he wanted to do was use it to teleport himself to you, but the best he knew he could do was FaceTime you and he didn't even want to do that. And he couldn't text because he knew the tone of his text wouldn't be conveyed correctly. He'll just have to wait until the weekend was over. He deleted everything he wrote and just sent a text that let you know that everything went fine that day.
"No, thank you for letting me know." He flashes the best smile he could, then heads back into the motorhome to figure out what was keeping everyone.

You havent heard from Max since Thursday, which was highly uncharacteristic of him when he was away from you for longer than an hour. But you had watched each session of the race that weekend, or at least you did when you weren't knocked out from your medicine, and had noticed how tense he was, how he was snippier to GP and how he seemed to rush towards his win this time, nearly 20 seconds ahead of Oscar in second. He was short in his interview and spent as little time as he could on the podium, and you could cut the tension in the cool down room with a knife, with the two McLaren drivers huddled together on the opposite side of the room saying very few words to your brooding boyfriend. He was obviously mad about something, but unless Carmen let it slip that you were sick, you had no idea of what it could've been.
You were in the kitchen, face burning up but a blanket draped over your shoulders as you attempted to make chicken noodle soup. You've made it many times before, but with your brain clouded by sickness, following the recipe has proven to be a challenge. That and you were severely disappointed that you had to use canned chicken as you were out of fresh chicken and definitely not up to going to get any. You had only just gotten the pot of water on the stove and salted when you hear the front door of the apartment open and close. There were no words, just the ominous clomp of Max's shoes dropping onto the floor and heavy steps as he headed straight for you at the stove.
"Maxie! You're back!" You try your best to sound chipper, but the strain the tone put on your throat was brutal, and your voice had an obvious rasp.
"Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?" He turned off the stove and leaned against the counter, his stern neutral face sending a shiver down your spine.
"If I told you, you know you would've stayed with me, even if it was a race weekend. Either that or you would've forced me to come, damn whoever catches what I have." You roll your eyes, an action that you immediately regret as it irritates your headache.
"Exactly, what's so wrong with that?" Max shrugs, face still unemotional as he reaches his hand out to feel your forehead, the heat of your fever radiating from you before he even touches you. "You're burning up." He whispers to himself while you go to answer his previous nonchalant question.
"You're either missing a race or I infect a whole paddock of people. And I refuse to be patient zero." Max shrugs again, his eyes widening briefly to nonverbally show that both scenarios were risks he was willing to take. "You're impossible. Geez." You reach to turn back on the stove but Max grabs your wrist before you could, keeping his grasp on your wrist as his face finally changed while visually observing you, eyebrows scrunching together.
"Okay fine, I wouldn't actually do either of those, but do you know how it felt finding out you were sick through Carmen, instead of you just telling me?" You avoided eye contact with him, realizing that it may not have hurt to tell him you weren't feeling, at the very least once he was in Qatar, so he at least was aware of the real reason you would be absent. He brought his other hand to your chin so you could look at him again. His face was softer and more caring. "If you told me, I could've made sure that you had everything you needed before I left. Like soup." He tilts his head to the salted water in the pot on the stove, a grin teasing the corner of his lips.
"I know. But I took care of myself just fine, fyi." You were playfully defiant in your rebuttle, but it still brought a subtle darkness to his eyes.
"You don't have to. And as long as you're my girlfriend, you won't have to." He flashes that smile he gives when he states something that he believes should be known universally, a slightly condescending yet sweet grin that made your heart race. "Which reminds me..." He begins to head to the bedroom, his grip on your wrist giving you no choice but to follow him.
"Reminds you of what? Maxie?" He pulls you into the room, beelines it to the bed, plops himself on the edge while seamlessly pulling you to him and tossing you over his lap, the smallest shocked shriek coming from you in the process. The blanket you had wrapped around you had long been lost, so all that was in view for Max was your butt, half exposed due to the sinfully short length of your pajama shorts, which was all Max needed.
"You just can't seem to get it through your head that I am here to help you. So we'll just have to try a different approach." His hand slowly gropes the bottom of your exposed butt, running along the curve before delivering a sharp slap to it.
"Ow! What the fuck, Max!?" With Max man-spreading where he sat, your ass and upper body were supported by his legs, so to look at him with the confusion and shock you would obviously have in this situation, you just had to look over your shoulder. It did unfortunately agitate your head again, making you groan and turn back around.
"I worried about you all weekend, lief." His hand groped your ass again before delivering another smack. Neither were extremely painful, but caused enough of a sting for you to want him to stop, despite the nagging part of your brain that was turned on by his sweet sternness. "I don't know why you won't just let me help you..." Another smack was applied to your ass causing another whimper to drip from your lips.
"Okay, I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" You whine frantically as you felt his hand retract again.
"Sorry for what, mijn liefde?" He goes back to groping your butt again, his other hand picking at loose locs that didn't make it into your quick bun that you put up days before.
"For not telling you I was sick." You yelp when he spanks you again after you admit your assumed fault, running his hand over the stinging spot.
"Lying to me, but we'll go with that. What else?" He was still massaging the abused area of your butt, and it was in this moment you realized tone never got harsh, which was something that intrigued you. He was never harsh or mean, only ever stern in wanting you to understand that he was there to help you. This was a new way of showing it, and you were unsure of how you felt about it as you felt yourself becoming more and more aroused with each spank, but at the moment you would do whatever you could to make it end.
"I-i don't-" Another stinging smack had you racking your brain for something you could say. "For-um-not asking for help! And for just not coming to you when I know I can." You brace yourself for another spank but it doesn't come.
"Get in the bed, love." Max helps you back off of his lap and get up from the edge of the bed so you could climb in. Once you were fully under the cover, Max pressed a long kiss to your forehead before making sure you had the remote for the TV. "I love you, okay? And all I ever want is to make life easier for you. You don't have to hide anything from me."
"I know, I know. I'm sorry." He was hovering over you, a hand on either side of your head as you looked up at him with the doe eyes that make him melt everytime. You knew he cared, he just showed it in his own seemingly emotionless way, so you often forgot that he has only ever wanted what was best for you.
"No, no need for sorry. I'll try to be a bit nicer about it." He flashes you that bright smile you love. He doesn't show it often, but it made him look sweet, and diffused the admittedly scary aura he gives off. "What were you making out there? Chicken noodle?" He began to back towards the door so he could finish the soup for you and bring you more medicine.
"Yeah." Your voice got softer than before, as you finally allowed yourself to settle into the bed and be taken care of.
"Okay, I'll be right back." Max leaves the room and you turn on the TV, but a sudden onset of loneliness kicks in. "Hey Maxie! Could you bring..." You didn't even have to finish your request when Max came back in with your cat and your phone, which you honestly forgot you left out in the kitchen.
"Don't yell, lief. You'll hurt your throat. Text if you need something." He presses another kiss to your head before heading to the bedroom door again.
"Thank you, Maxie." You watched him leave the room, fingernails scratching the head of the cat in your lap.
"You're welcome, my love." He only turns his head to speak to you and flash one more soft grin as he exits the room again to finally make his way to the kitchen. "I am not using fucking canned chicken in this soup. I'll be right back. I'm going to the store." In quick successions you hear his keys jingle, his shoes clomp in the floor, and the front door shut.

i’ve been thinking about modern au huaisang recently, and while i do think it’s charming to have him still use a fan, i’ve been trying to come up with a modern equivalent. literally been wracking my brain trying to think of something until i was in the shower today and i felt so stupid for not thinking of it earlier:
huaisang would use his phone.
he would be that motherfucker with an iphone max or something that doesn’t even fit into the back pocket of his skinny jeans, which he claims is an excuse for him to buy more designer handbags to carry the damn thing. everyone thinks he’s chronically online (which may actually be true but not in the shallow, narcissistic way they assume) because he never puts it down. it’s always up in his face, at least covering his mouth, as he types and scrolls away.
when someone has their phone out, it is universally assumed they aren’t paying attention to what is going on around them. so huaisang, who never seems to put his down unless he’s shopping or gossiping, is assumed to be completely engrossed in his online sphere rather than what’s around him. he’s the one everyone tells to go outside and touch grass. but the thing is, he’s always paying attention. his eyes may be glued onto his screen, but his mind and ears are focused elsewhere.
his brother has tried locking his phone up, throwing it away, even breaking it, but huaisang just sees this as an opportunity to buy himself a new one, so it’s a lost cause. all his friends tease him about it but don’t truly complain because he puts the phone down when it really matters most.
the point of his fan in mdzs is to paint him as frivolous and naive, as well as to hide his face and accentuate the fact that he’s not paying attention. so if we were to translate that to modern time, that would be a fucking phone
god i felt so stupid when i realized it because it seems so obvious in hindsight

can you please write something with Mike being a hero, maybe saving the reader from something? I feel like he is such a caring, protective person who wants to help others and I would like to see something where he is able to do that - your work is so appreciated and incredible btw!
thank you :D.
a/n- thanks to jess for this idea. i didn’t just want to do a copycat scene of mike and afton. that’s the only idea i had lol. and i feel like this could capture what you wanted you :)
warnings / includes -lowk near death experience lol. reader can be read as gn ! one use of y/n
————
“i’ll see you in thirty, mike.”
mike gives his co-worker a small smile and nod. “yep.”
he exits the employee’s office, stuffing his hands in his pockets in search for his keys and phone. he checks his phone for any texts or calls from max about abby, relieved to see nothing was the matter.
he makes his way out of the mall and to one of the fast food options across the street. he forgot to pack his lunch again. not like he does, anyways. he usually can get by with lots of water and some gum, but today he’s hungrier than usual. he hates to spend money on food for himself, but he knows that if he doesn’t eat, he might pass out. that’s not something he needs happening at work.
“hi, can i have a number three. no drink,” he orders. he pays with cash, taking the table number and sitting down in the corner of the restaurant.
he looks out of the window, trying to think of anything else but the home he has to go to at the end of the day, and the fact that he should get another job. he thinks about what abby might say to him, or what she might not say to him.
he ponders about the day his brother was taken. if only he could go to sleep right now in this mcdonald’s. if only he could travel back in time and see who took his little brother. if only he was able to protect garrett from the monsters that lurk on this earth.
his appetite is shot, but he forces himself to eat something since he paid for it. he saves some fries for abby, putting them in a paper brown bag and folding it hastily. he gives the workers an awkward smile as he leaves, pulling out his phone to check the time. he still has 15 minutes before his break is over. he might as well just go back to work. he doesn’t get paid to be on break, and every cent counts.
he makes his way across the parking lot, pressing the crosswalk button once he gets to the street. he watches as the cars speed by, the wind blowing in his face and providing a calming sensation. a wave of tiredness washes over him and he feels his eyes start to flutter shut. he runs a hand over his face, dragging his skin down in attempt to somehow stimulate him. but, of course, it doesn’t work. mike is in terrible sleep debt and will be for the rest of his life.
he starts to feel impatient as the light is taking too long — for him, at least. in reality, he’s only been standing there for almost two minutes, but it feels like 10. his attention is turned away from the terrible timing of the traffic lights when he hears a loud laugh. he looks to his right, seeing you approach him. you’re on the phone with somebody and talking very loud. the wind seems to carries your voice as you laugh once more, rolling your eyes right after.
as you get closer, mike quickly looks away. he glances at you through his peripheral once you stand next to him.
“yeah, i’m not sure what to get him. i might just get him money. that’s what teenagers what anyways, right? he can just spend it however he wants,” you say.
mike tries not to listen to your conversation, but you’re right next to him. it doesn’t seem like you care, anyways. it’s not like you’re talking about anything incriminating.
“well, i’m about to cross the street and head to the mall. can i send you pictures of things i find and you can tell me if he will like them or not? okay, thanks. yeah, i’ll talk to you later.”
mike turns his head to you slightly, watching as you end the call and slip your phone in your back pocket. you glance at him, giving him a sweet smile. it’s not a polite, awkward smile like mike usually gives someone. it’s genuine, like you’re happy to see mike or something. the corners of your eyes crinkle and the apples of your cheeks raise. mike can’t help but stare for a few seconds too long.
finally, the crosswalk gives them the green light. mike lets you walk first, but as you take a step, a car that’s turning right doesn’t stop. everything happens so fast, you barely have time to process. first you were calmly taking a step, next thing you know you’re heart is racing and you feel like you’re about to shit yourself. your body feels like a sloth and your legs stutter, not sure what to do even though your brain knows you should take a step back. luckily, mike out and grabs your arm, yanking you back onto the side walk. the car has the audacity to honk at you, speeding into the parking lot behind you two.
“oh, my god,” you mutter, a little breathless. you look down at his hand that’s wrapped around your bicep. his grip is firm, but gentle. his hand is warm and you can feel the callouses that live at the base of his fingers.
“sorry,” mike murmurs as he tears his arm away from you.
“don’t be sorry. you saved my life,” you smile gratefully. “it’s… it’s no problem,” he nods.
“ugh, now we have to wait another cycle. i’m sorry,” you groan as you watch the lights on the other side turn green.
“you shouldn’t be sorry, either. that asshole almost killed you because he couldn’t wait a few seconds.”
“yeah,” you sigh. “i wonder why he’s in such a hurry.”
mike looks back to the small strip of restaurants behind him. “must be hungry.”
“mmm, being hungry and driving are not a good mix. trust me, i know,” you joke.
mike laughs softly. you give him another smile. “i’m y/n.”
“i’m mike,” he says. he says your name in his head a couple of times as to commit it to memory.
“so, are you always saving people from angry drivers?” you ask. you internally cringe at your cheap way of trying to keep the conversation going, but mike doesn’t seem to mind or notice.
“only sometimes.” he gives you a playfully grin that makes your heart stutter against your rib cage.
you stay silent for a few moments, looking over him. you feel like you’ve seen him before. he looks so familiar, but you don’t know why. you know you’ve never spoken to him before. you only knew one other mike, which was one of your co-workers. and you know you’d remember this mike if you had even bumped into him. he’s handsome, no doubt. his eyes are dark, like he’s experienced terrible things, but they’re also soft and kind. he doesn’t look welcoming or forthcoming. you can tell he’s quite reserved in the way he stands, his stolen glances, the way his hands rest in his pockets. once he smiles, though, his face lights up and there’s a twinkle in his eyes.
you stare at him for a few more moments. you trace the slender curve of his nose and prominent jawline that could cut butter. it’s when you take another look at his whole face you realize where you know him from.
“do you work at the mall?”
mike eyes widen slightly and you can see his ears redden. “yeah, i do.”
“i knew i recognize you from somewhere!”
his lips twitch up into an almost smile. “how often do you come to the mall?”
“well, i’ve been making very frequent trips since some of my families’ birthdays are coming up soon. they all seem to be born one month after the other. and then, of course, when i come home i realize i forgot to get something.”
“i think i’ve seen you, too.” mike’s eyes flicker down your body and a thrill runs up your spine.
“you work in security, right?” you ask. “i do,” he nods.
“well, you are great at doing your job. you saved my life today.”
“well, technically i’m just supposed to make sure nobody is stealing anything. so, i was just doing what a good samaritan is supposed to do.”
“believe it or not, not everyone would do what you did. especially if we were in a crowd of people. i might have legitimately died, or gotten seriously hurt.”
“i’m glad i was here to help, then.”
mike can’t help but feel a small ounce of pride fill his chest. he’s always been a pretty humble guy, and he knows that him saving you from an asshole of a driver was what he was supposed to do. but he’s spent most of his life feelings helpless and worthless. he can’t hold down a job, he’s doing a terrible job of raising abby — by everyone’s standards, at least — and he just feels like he’s living the same day over and over again. he feels like he’s going nowhere and that he’s stuck permanently, like his feet are cemented to the ground and he will never be able to move.
but being here with you, his day feels a little different. he feels a little lighter and happier, even. he feels like he finally did something good in his life.
“god, finally,” you sigh in relief as the cross walk gives you the go.
you and mike both take a moment to make sure no one is coming. you two share a little laugh before walking across the street.
“it was nice meeting you, mike,” you smile as you head towards the entrance of the mall.
“you, too. i hope you’re able to find a gift,” he says. “so, you were listening to my conversation earlier,” you raise a brow.
his jaw drops a little. “i-i —”
you laugh, “i’m just teasing. i know i’m a loud talker. i hope I’m able to find a gift, too.”
“there’s a gamestop inside near the build-a-bear, if you haven’t looked there yet.”
“i will definitely check it out, thank you. maybe i’ll see you around?” you ask. you hope you don’t sound as hopeful as you feel. mike doesn’t seem to notice, but he seems to feel the same.
“definitely,” he smiles. you give him a little wave as you make your departure from him. he watching your retreating figure. for the first time ever, he is actually looking forward to his security job in hopes of seeing you sometime soon.

The Loneliest | Charles Leclerc & Max Verstappen
Pairing: Ex!Charles Leclerc/ Max Verstappen x Reader
Prompt: Might have to make this a series...based off the song 'The Loneliest' by Maneskin. Where you are fed up in your current relationship and Charles has to watch as you find somebody else and see how much happier he makes you.
Warnings: None?
Word Count: 4.5k
Song: The Loneliest by Maneskin
Tumblr media
‘You'll be the saddest part of me A part of me that will never be mine It's obvious Tonight is gonna be the loneliest’
“Charles, I don’t know what to tell you. I can’t do this anymore,” I say, gesturing to us. “I can’t lie to you anymore and pretend everything's fine! This…it's just not working for me anymore. I can’t do it,” I admit
“Mon amour, don’t- what are you trying to say? That I’m not here enough for you? Believe me, I’m trying! I get the first flight home after every race, we live in Maranello so I can come home to you each night. What more could you possibly want from me?!” He asks, shocked at your words and surprised that you were even having this argument…He thought you two were solid?
“I feel stuck Charles! I don’t have any friends here and everywhere I turn I have to smile and play nice because I’m your girlfriend. Nobody knows me! Fuck, I don’t even know me anymore!” You reply, managing to work yourself up even more, you didn’t even know you felt like this…when you started, you just couldn’t stop.
“So what? So where do we go from here?” He asks, clearly done with arguing, you assumed that you would kiss and make up like you usually did.
“I’ve got a taxi coming in an hour to take me to the airport, I boxed up all of my stuff and put it in the spare room. There is a courier coming to pick it up on Tuesday…” You admit to him, His jaw drops slightly at how you had planned everything.
“So you’re just leaving?” He asks bluntly.
“Yes, I need space, I need time, I just-,” You start to say, relief finally hitting you that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. “I love you, Charles…but not enough to sacrifice myself,” You tell him honestly.
“This is it then? Two-and-a-half years, just gone like that?” He asks, clicking his fingers when he says ‘like that’. When He says that you can’t even look him in the eyes. “Ok…well I don’t want to be here to watch you leave…” He adds, picking his car keys up and shoving his phone and wallet into his pockets. “I love you, more than you could ever know,” He says before closing the door behind him.
‘You're still the oxygen I breathe I see your face when I close my eyes; It's torturous Tonight is gonna be the loneliest’

Charles only briefly looked at the photos, not bothering to like them and leave a sweet comment like he usually would but instead clicking on her profile and letting his thumb hover over the ‘Unfollow’ button. He decided against it, knowing the fans would go crazy if he did. He just switched his phone off and dropped it beside him.

You,
We have been apart for nearly two months, that will be the longest we’ve ever been apart. Ironic that... seeing that is the reason you chose to end it. People are starting to ask questions about where you are, why we are seen together anymore and I don’t know what to tell them. You said you needed time and space? I've given you time and space, so where does that leave us?
Are you done? Because I know I’m not, I love you. And if there were any way to prove to you, my love, how much I love you then I would go to the ends of the earth to do so. Sometimes I just try to tell myself that you’re at home waiting for me, and when I get home it all comes crashing down again. I see that you are happy, your social media taunts me with what I don’t believe to be true. Nobody walks away from a two-and-a-half-year relationship as happy as you appear to be…'
Charles puts his pen down and folds up the letter, shoving it into his drawer, He thought writing it would be cathartic but instead all it's done is make him angry, and sad, and ultimately confused. The courier for your stuff came weeks ago and all he got was a quick ‘thanks’ in a text message as a response. He had tried reaching out, just to see where he stood but you didn’t reply; so He tried your best friend, she just told him ‘It’s best if you leave her alone, it's over Charles,’ So at that, he accepted it. When people asked, He said it wasn’t working for you both so you decided to stop seeing each other. Amicably. Of course.
‘So don't be sad when I'll be gone’

To say that Charles was surprised…well that would be an understatement. He was completely shocked. He didn’t think you’d move on so quickly, ok fine, it had been four months but still. He wouldn’t have even thought about looking at another girl; everybody copes in their own way he supposes. He had to remind himself that he didn't see both sides to your relationship...He didn't see how much you were hurting, maybe that was why it was easier for you to move on?

Despite not having spoken for nearly eight months, you continued surprising Him. To be honest, Charles was more confused than anything else…all the reasons you gave for breaking up would be problems you would face with Max. The dedication to the sport, the time away from home…what did He have that Charles didn’t?

“You don’t have to see him; you can just stay in the hospitality all day; I’ll come and get you to bring you to the garage ready for quali if you want,” Max assures you as you walk into the paddock together, it had been a while since you’d had paddock passes hanging around your neck. When you had been before, an assistant about ten paces ahead would usually scan you in. You didn’t mind; you felt less on show this way, even though the guy on your arm was a double-world champion.
A few people turned to look as you walked towards the Redbull hospitality, most of those being Ferrari employees that would instantly recognise you. Max was pulled aside by a group of fans wanting autographs and photos as you got closer, so you took his bag and phone, making it easier for him to interact with them as you stood off to the side.
It felt like an ambush; not even seconds after Max left your side, you felt a familiar presence behind you. “Charles, I know it's you,” You say, turning to look at him.
“H-how are you?” He asks, clearly unsure of what to say.
“I’m really good, never been better, to be honest,” You tell him, and he smiles.
“Good to hear…I didn’t know you and Max were friends,” He says; you could see it coming.
“We weren’t…we bumped into each other in London and got to talking before I knew it. He was taking me to Amsterdam,” You say with a laugh.
“Schat? Oh, Hey Charles, how's it going?” Max asks, coming to stand back next to you, taking the bag slung over your shoulder and putting it onto his back.
“Not bad, just saying Hi,” He says as his P.R. agent comes rushing over.
“There you are! You were meant to be in filming ten minutes ago,” She tells him, and he rolls his eyes before plastering a fake smile across his face and following her back to the Ferrari hospitality. Charles always used to do that when you attended races; He would always seek you out if He wanted to get out of media duties.
“You ok, schat?” He asks as you watch Charles walk away.
“All good,” You said, looking over at him; he clearly didn’t believe you. “I promise,” You add, kissing his cheek.
‘You're still the oxygen I breathe I see your face when I close my eyes’ ‘It's torturous’
“-That sounds incredible; yes, I want the job!” I say excitedly as Max sits in front of me, on the edge of his seat, and I just nod to him. I quickly thank the interviewer again before ending the call. “I got the job!” I squeal as Max wraps his arms around me.
“You got the job!” He replies, equally as excited. “You know what this means?” He asks, and I grin. “Move in with me. You can travel with me, come to all the races. We could get our own place in Monaco; I know mine is a little small for two people,” He quickly says; you had spoken about all of this before, so He knew your answer.
“Yes, yes, yes!” You agree, and he swiftly lifts you off the floor, spinning you around. Your job had always been an issue; you felt chained to a desk, but now, you were a travel journalist. It was quite literally your job to travel, and with Max going to over 20 different countries in a year at least, it couldn't get any better. You had promised Max you would be in Spain, but it had all been uncertain after that.
When you arrived in Spain, it felt like a weight had been lifted off your shoulder; you had no mountains of work to do when you got home; or a pissed-off boss because she couldn’t call your phone. All you had to do was enjoy yourself and cheer on your boyfriend. Then came Canada, and it was the same situation; you had quit your old job a few days prior and didn’t start the new one for a few months. Max had promised that He didn’t mind that you weren’t working at the moment, and as you had temporarily moved into his apartment, you had no significant bills to pay.
You slowly got to know people at Redbull, quickly becoming friends with Geri, Carola, and the rest of Max’s team. People at Ferrari still said Hi if you walked past them, but you were surprisingly able to stay out of their way, wanting to leave that in the past. The one person you probably wanted to avoid the most was the one you were struggling to. He seemed to be just around every corner or in your peripheral vision. Perhaps you were just seeing his face on every dark-haired guy with a Ferrari shirt, but with time, you learnt to spot the blue rather than the red.
‘Tonight is gonna be the loneliest I'm sorry but I gotta go’
“So I’m just about to start a new job; the other one wasn’t working for me. It means I’m working remotely so I can attend the races properly,” You tell them as you stand in the middle of the surprisingly quiet paddock.
“What’s the job?” Pierre asks.
“Travel journalism,” You say with a smile.
“That sounds perfect!” He replies.
“It really is, and now I’m not physically tied to London. I’m moving to Monaco,” You tell them, and you think you can see Charles having to replay what you said in his head.
“Getting your own place?” Pierre asks.
“No…I-um,” I start to say before I’m interrupted.
“I thought you’d gotten lost, Schat,” Max says, wrapping his arm around you.
“What? From the garage to the hospitality? I think I’m fine,” You joke as you kiss the side of his head.
“We were just talking about how you’re moving to Monaco,” Pierre said, trying to continue the conversation.
“We’re both really excited; we agreed Max’s place was a little small, so we are looking for a new apartment together,” You say, looking up at the broad smile across his face.
“We’ll catch up again, but I’ve got to go…sorry,” Charles says abruptly before leaving.
“He is happy for you both…He just doesn’t know how to be around you guys, especially after the way you left him,” Pierre says, trying to excuse Charles’ behaviour.
“Pierre? Seriously? We’ve been together for nearly six months, and besides, there are two people in a relationship…it’s not all my fault,” I say defensively, and Max runs his hand over my shoulder, attempting to calm me.
“I know, that came out wrong…” He answers
‘If you'll ever miss me give this song another go’
‘...and now you’re in the paddock all the time. It feels like you're haunting me. You are always there, at work, in my dreams; now you’ll be in Monaco. I can’t escape you; everywhere I turn, there you are or something that reminds me of you. Are you trying to punish me? Is that what this is? You have to show me what I lost. I am fully aware of what I lost!
Every minute of every day, I am reminded of what I lost, who I lost. And I am so happy that you have found someone who can make you as happy as I thought I did. Was it ever me? Was I the issue? If you had your new job when you were mine, would we have argued about what we did? Would we have argued about the distance if you could be there? Would we have found some other reason to disagree?
It’s been nearly a year since you walked out, and I’m still no closer to closure. You were my everything; I was sure you were the one for me. I wanted to buy a house with you, one we could grow our family in; I wanted to make you Mrs Leclerc, and then I wanted to make you a Mother. I wonder if He knows how much you yearn for a family. I remember the lazy Sunday mornings we would spend together discussing the future and what that meant for us…’
‘And I just keep on thinking how you made me feel better And all the crazy little things that we did together, In the end, in the end, it doesn't matter If tonight is gonna be the loneliest’
One thing Charles didn’t anticipate missing was the little things. From the drives through Monaco, hand resting on your thigh as you spoke about your day to the way you sang your favourite songs as you cooked. These little things that now drove him crazy to think about, he took those for granted. Often finding them annoying, Charles might have had a stressful day at work, and all he wanted was a bit of peace, and you were talking his ear off.
What he would give to have you like that again.
He assumed Max was probably the same. Oh, how wrong he was. Max loved to listen to you talk, your voice soothing him after a bad day; your awful singing always managed to bring a smile to his face as he walked in the front door.
Charles was looking forward to the end of the season; Christmas was when all the drivers went home. Monaco was his again; he was the only one there. You and Max had quickly stopped before flying straight to the U.K. for the first few weeks off. Monaco was quiet at Christmas; there were very few tourists, meaning He could walk the streets interrupted. This is the Monaco from his childhood, the one He fell in love with.
Christmas without you was very different; there were no big surprises, drunken confessions of love, or hastily hung mistletoe. It was quiet; his family had come to terms with the fact you weren't around anymore.
Your Christmas was vastly different; waking up in your childhood bed next to Max was amazing; it all began to feel real and good. This is where you are supposed to be. Max slipped right into your family, and they took him in as their own. Something Max would later say how much he appreciated; coming from a semi-broken family, the love and kindness meant the world to him.

MaxVerstappen1 Schat, by the time you are reading this, I’m praying you will have said yes.
You are my everything; I cannot even begin to try to tell you how much you mean to me. I never believed the stories, my Mamma  would tell me about finding my one true love…well, mamma, I did it. I found her.
I found her in your favourite city, doing your favourite thing, and she is perfect.
We have only properly known each other just over a year, but it feels like an eternity and that’s how long I want to spend with her.
So Schat, if you didn’t say yes…well, then I’m sure I look like a right fool now but this is me, bearing my heart and soul to you.
The simplest words to describe it are ‘I love you' so?
Will you marry me?
YourInstagram …I said yes.

‘And now I have to watch as He proposes to you, eventually marries you. I should be him, that should be me. It should be me you are walking down the aisle towards.
There’s this beautiful church in Monaco that I always pictured us getting married it, it's the same one my maman and papa got married in when they were younger; I dream about it some nights…usually after seeing you in the paddock or seeing pictures of you on social media.
I dream about the long white wedding dress with the cathedral length veil, the bouquet of flowers pressed against your stomach as your papa walked you towards me, towards our future. Then we’d exchange our vows, our promises of eternity together, through sickness and health, till death do us part. That’s what we’d promise each other.
The reception afterwards would be the best night of our lives; Pierre would give a speech, no doubt telling the story of how we met and how He witnessed our love blossom into what it was. Now I don’t know whether you’ll ever read this, but I want you to know, you have to know that you were my future. I wanted everything with you…and I struggle to see how I wasn’t enough for you. He is me in different colours…

‘...but that is it. Isn’t it? You’re having a baby. I’m not going to sit here and tell you how it should be me. You know that already. This is my sign to move on; you’re going to be starting a family with Max, raising some kids, the white picket fences…all that shit. I wanted that, and now…it disgusts me. How fake it all seems, don’t you see it? I am going to have to stand on the sideline and smile, I have to be happy for you, after all you do deserve happiness. I couldn’t bear to see you hounded in the media over our relationship…or lack thereof.
So I guess I’ll have to move on, you were one chapter of my life in which the book is being forced closed, you took the pen and drew lines through the last part before scribbling in the margins ‘THE END’
It’s crazy to think by the time your son or daughter is born you will have been with him nearly as long as you were with me, it feels so much longer than that. It feels like decades since I last woke up next to you…

“Char?” She asked, trying to snap him out of his daydream. She had noticed him doing it a lot recently.
“Mhmm?” He hums, eyes fixing back onto her. Her slightly darker hair, longer as it fell way past her shoulders. Your’s sat perfectly on your shoulders, bouncing effortlessly as you moved.
“What have I got to do to keep your attention? I just had a whole conversation with myself,” She says to him. ‘Be her’ was what he wanted to say but He knew she would just up and leave. Just like you did. Like they all did.
“You have my attention Celine,” He says bluntly, both of them knowing he was lying.
“Ok, well as I was saying…” She started to say before Charles zoned out again, she decided to ignore it this time and just pretend he was listening, that's what she usually did. She was on a date with Charles Leclerc after all…this had to go well.
Charles couldn’t see her, all he saw was how she was not you. She didn’t smile the way you did, the way he loved, with dimples growing as your smile widened. She didn’t blush when He complimented her, like He was the first guy in the world to notice her beauty.
She just wasn’t you.

Charles watched as his love slipped through his fingers. “Do you Max Emilian Verstappen take Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N to be your lawfully wedded wife?” The officiant asked, and Charles silently begged him to say no, to say it was all a mistake.
“I do,”
Charles winced at those words.
“-and do you Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N take Max Emilian Verstappen to be your lawfully wedded husband?” She asked. Charles was holding his breath, time started to slow down…
“I do,”
A silent tear rolled down his face.
‘Tonight is gonna be the loneliest’
‘Its strange to think I’ve been writing this letter for three years, I reread the words and remember all the emotions attached to them, I can remember what triggered all those feelings, where in the world I was at that point. And now, I guess it will end. I had originally intended to give you this letter, as one last ‘I love you’ but I now know that isn’t fair. On you, on Max, or on Fleur.
So as I conclude my letter to nobody, I think about watching you drive away tonight. Fleur in your mothers arms as you set off for your honeymoon. Part of me wished I had brought a date, to distract me from you. But I’m glad I didn’t. I think this was the closure I needed, I needed to know you were his…and not mine anymore…not that I think you were ever mine to begin with. Tonight will be the loneliest, as I lay here thinking about you, and what it could have been.
Charles.
P.s I will always love you.'

Thursday, 7:03 a.m.
It’s early in the morning, and you know what that means…. School time!!!
Yay… school.
You’re currently at school, exhausted. That wasn’t out of the ordinary though. No matter how much sleep your body gets you still end up tired. At this point, you've accepted the fact that you’re a sleepy girl.
Putting on your beats, you turn the music volume to the max. Hopefully, music can give you a little energy and help you get through the day because you need it.
Surprisingly Yoongi or Taehyung weren't at school around this time. Usually, the three of you arrived at the same time, if something came up you’d receive a message from either one of them. They didn’t tell you yesterday or text you, so you check their location.
When you do it shows that they are on the road, moving in the same area.
They were driving somewhere…
The direction they are going is further away from the school. You being curious, you took it upon yourself to see what’s up with them.
Letting out a yawn, you call Yoongi, and not even a second later, he declines.
What the fuck?
You decide to shoot Taehyung a message since they’re together and he responds…
You: um why aren’t you or Yoongi at school?
You: I see that you guys are driving and I feel left out.
Taehyung : Sorry Y/N. I was supposed to tell you, but It slipped my mind.
Yeah, just like how my foot is gonna slip up both their asses.
Taehyung: We got caught up in some last-minute shit.
•okay, but my question is still unanswered.
You: where are you guys going though???
Read.
Taehyung left you on read along with him being secretive about his location… that’s unusual and weird.
Extremely weird…
“Such shitheads for ditching me,” you mutter, shoving your phone in your pocket. Great… Now today is going to be the definition of boring without dumber and dumbest.
You open your locker, replacing your books with your skateboard. The bell is going to ring shortly, so you start walking to class. You slam your locker shut, striding down the halls with the volume of your headphones sounding out everything and everyone, just how you liked it.
Your face was frowned up until ETA by NewJeans came on. A smile creeps onto the corner of your mouth as angelic voices enter your ears and a flicker of amusement manages to lighten your mood.
“what’s your ETA!” “what’s your ETA!”
Just when your grumpy spirit is starting to lift, someone swoops in from the right, snatching your headphones off your ears. The music is gone and the little smile you grew shattered into a million pieces.
You freeze, taken back by his audacity. “You did not… just take my headphones.”
You turn around to see the one and only, Jeon Jungkook.
Jeon Jungkook who surprisingly wasn’t wearing his usual Calvin Klein attire. Instead, he had on a pair of distressed jeans with a soft blue zip-up jacket.
The way he has his jacket off his shoulder is so baby girl of him
Jungkook smirks, holding the headphones out of reach. “New Jeans? Really?” He could hear even while they were hanging above your head. That’s how loud the music was.
“Give it back!” you demand, through a big jump to retrieve your headphones. Each time you jumped, his hand went higher and higher. Jungkook enjoyed watching you struggle, especially if it’s because of him.
“You don’t seem like the type to listen to New Jeans,” he says, ignoring the fact that he’s holding your property. “They’re so uplifting and joyful… and you-” Jungkook pauses, eyeing you down. You could sense the insult coming.
You talk over him, not letting him finish. “Why are you doing this?”
It’s too early to play his stupid games. He couldn’t wait until Chemistry class?
“Just doing my daily dose of annoying you.” He clicks his tongue, dangling the headphones with his index finger.
“Well, congratulations, Jungkook. You’ve succeeded once again. Now give me back my headphones and leave me alone,” you demand again, reaching up only for him to hold them higher.
At this damn point, your arms are moving in the air desperately like a lunatic. This is taking place in the middle of the halls… in front of people.
How fucking embarrassing is that?
ugh, I hope that people don’t think I’m a pushover now…
You raise your voice, walking up to Jungkook. “Give me my shit back!”
The anger in your voice draws attention in the halls. Right after you speak, multiple eyes burn into your soul. You look around and people are staring at the both of you with concerned faces. Part of you wanted to tell them to mind their shit and keep it pushing, but you take a breath, taking a chill pill.
“Jungkook,” you say through gritted teeth, bringing your hands together. “Can I have my beats back? They’re too expensive to be played around with.” You swallow all the bass in your tone.
“What’s the magic word?” Jungkook teases, exposing the dimple on his right cheek. Beasty, huh? you've never understood why he gave you such a nickname in the first place. Assuming it was an insult, you always ignored it.
Today wasn’t the day for his stupid games, he for sure wasn’t getting a please out of you.
You blink constantly, accepting your defeat. “You know what… I’m not doing this shit today. You can keep them, you jerk.” Walking away from Jungkook, you try to speed walk to class in need to get away from him. You’re already dealing with limbs that could barely function and heavy eyelids, you aren't in the mood to play.
Searching for peace didn't last how you wanted. Jungkook catches up with you, refusing to leave you alone.
"Careful there or you'll drop your books."
You look over at Jungkook who was keeping up with your speed. “I hate you.”
A little laugh sneaks past his lips before speaking, “No, you don’t.”
He had the presence of a fly, no matter how much you shoo him away he always finds his way back.
Why do you despise him with a passion?
Why is Jeon Jungkook your nemesis?
The reason behind it is a story. It started when you ran into him on a chaotic evening at the worst moment possible, just when you thought the hole you were in couldn't get any deeper...it did.
*Flashback!*
Friday evening, 7:37 p.m.
Stuck in the middle of traffic, you’re repeatedly hitting crazy turns, left, right, left, left, right, right, nonstop. You wanted to punch yourself in the face for missing the bus and being an irresponsible dumbass.
Yeah, it's true...you were late to a game. It's not all your fault, though. To be fair it was a last-minute one that the coach signed everyone up for. Earlier today, you had to stay after school to figure out some arrangements with your teachers for your grades. It was either that or nothing because bad grades equal no volleyball.
All work was uncompleted, besides Mrs. Parker's class. That was your favorite class and you had an A+, so you didn't have to visit her. You had to visit everyone else and it didn’t go as planned. Besides giving you an extension on the work, you were assigned a tutor for the next 2 months.
Your schedule was dedicated to volleyball, therefore you had no free days unless it was the weekend, and as much as you didn't want to sacrifice it, you had to.
Girl, your grades were crying.
You need to maintain them to keep volleyball in your life. Today was Saturday and you decided to start. It wasn't a problem because you had no plans at all… well that’s what you thought.
You put your phone on do not disturb, just to concentrate, not to ignore anybody.
You just needed your mind to be fixated on school for once, not a ball, not a net, or a gym.
🏐🥊
During those long hours of catching up and studying you weren't aware of the messages in your group chat. You packed up all your things and you went directly to your messages to see 100+ texts from the group chat.
You open it thinking it's about the next practice or probably not expecting a message like this.
Coach [: "I'm sorry to spring this on you girls on such short notice, but I received an email from a coach from another district about playing against his team because apparently, the other team forfeited before the game.
Coach [: I agreed to it thinking maybe you girls could use the extra practice, you know? explore other teams and their ways of playing."
Coach [: "The school is far, so I recommend you gear up and be at the gym by school at 6:20 because the drive is longer than 30 minutes and we all need to ride the bus together, as a team."
Coach [: "There's no reason why any of you should be late because I'm texting you a couple of hours before, so please be on time okay you all know how I am about tardiness."
The more we are late the more we condition....
Coach [: "Okay, but that's all. I'll see you all in a bit, be ready!"
You take your phone off Do not disturb, then you exit the building, phone, and bag in hand checking your missed calls,
Reading that you had numerous missed calls from the coach, you call her and she answers immediately. The phone barely got through the first ring. You opened your mouth to speak, but her lecture overpowered you. "Y/N where the hell are you? the game is about to start!"
You're so stuck you couldn't give a proper answer so all you say is, "Huh?" the confusion in your response made her angrier.
"You are late Y/N! You were supposed to be on the bus an hour ago!"
Coach sent that message at 3:36 and when you checked the time it was 7:15 p.m. It was like glass shattering when your heart sank realizing you lost track of time. Your phone shook in your trembling hands, too stunned to speak.
It's been that long?!?
She tells you that the game has already started and that you need to be on your way now, especially with you being one of the main players you were needed no matter what, or the rotation would be switched.
It was still the beginning of the season, so people were only familiar with their positions. Having rotations changed and adjusted to something last minute during a game is a total mess. A rule in volleyball is if you were out of rotation they deduct points, and that was unacceptable.
"C-coach, I'm sorry-" you tried to sound sincere with a pounding heart and unsteady voice. "I'll get there as fast as possible." She ends the conversation by hanging up the phone.
Well goddamn.
Then and there you knew you were "Fucked." you muffled, in your hand. "I am so fucked...."
You start running as fast as you can and thankfully the dorms aren't too far from the school, so you arrive shortly. You swung the door open and rushed to your room not greeting your roommate, but that didn't matter.
She wasn't the nicest...
When you get in your room you start tossing things everywhere trying to find your jersey. That's what you get for misplacing important shit, that's what your mom would tell you after you'd lost something and it played in your mind on a loop.
At some point, you found everything and shoved it in your bag racing out the door to the parking lot. And there you are speeding recklessly in your car, slamming your fist on the horn honking at cars, cutting them off doing all you can to escape from this major traffic jam.
You weave through traffic pressing on the gas pedal, “Come the fuck on…” you yell, feeling your frustration build up. “Can these cars go any slower?!? I’m almost there!”
Why does everything go wrong on inconvenient days…?
Finally, you arrive at the stadium, and you pull into the parking lot and your eyes dart immediately to a good spot in between two cars surprisingly in front of the entrance. There were a shit ton of people here...
You turn the wheel parking your car thinking none of it, then suddenly there is this noise you heard. In the mise of hearing that sound, your whole car jolted back from the impact, even though it was the slightest tap.
Leaning forward a bit, you see the space you have in front of you and your jaw drops in disbelief. "Please no...." This could not be happening right now.... you're already in trouble for being an hour late and now you have to deal with this.
To fix your parking, you back out and properly pull in between the two cars. After, you take a moment to close your eyes and cross your fingers hoping that the damage wasn't too severe. Your pockets had flies coming out of them…. you couldn't afford to fix a damn car.
Let's pray that there was nothing there and you could move on with life, peacefully. You got out of the car to check yours first. It was in perfect condition and not a single mark was on it, maybe that was a sign of something good.
You rushed to the back of the black car to confirm that the crunching noise you heard was in fact the bumper that was dented up, terribly. The back of the vehicle even had scratches and the black paint was scraped off.
It was bad...
"Oh my god..." you mouthed nervously. The car did look fancy and highly expensive. It didn't take long for you to realize that the car you hit was a Mercedes-Benz, but not only that it was the newest version. "You've got to be fucking kidding me...." you screamed, burying your face in your palms.
How the hell were you going to pay for the damages on this car, a damn Mercedes?!? To be fair, you weren't poor, you just didn't have money like that, or you didn't have any on you. And bothering your parents with this rough situation was the last you wanted to do. They were already helping you pay for volleyball camp, so there was no need to shake them for more money.
Your hands found their way to your head gripping your hair, stressfully. "Ugh, I should've been on the damn bus!" you yell again, feeling stupid. You wanted to punch yourself in the face for the rookie mistake.
Too busy pacing back and forth and complaining you didn't notice that there wasn't a single soul in the car. By now someone would've come out to give you shit for hitting their vehicle.
You instantly got an idea.
And that idea was to walk away and pretend nothing happened.
Why not? nobody was outside, nobody saw you and nobody was inside the car meaning there's no proof of you hitting their car attempting to park.
That intense feeling wore off and your body relaxed a little. You look both ways before crossing the street.
Thank god, you didn't have to deal with a rich bitch or asshole who'd exaggerate the problem like the car was their child and make you pay more than you have to. You sigh, walking away, ready to enter the school and deal with the coach because that was next on the checklist.
You stuff your hands in your pockets, making your way towards the entrance, until you hear something. That something was the sound of a car door getting slammed violently.
"What the hell? are you fucking kidding me?!?" the mysterious man shouted. He sounded upset—a more fitting word, enraged. "Hey, you! black sweatshirt."
Yep, that was you. A girl in a black sweatshirt who was trying to ditch the situation.
"Hm?" you slowly turned around as if you were innocent.
Your guilty eyes met his deep brown cold ones. He looked very pissed right now. "Hm?" the mysterious boy mocked your act. "You fucked up my shit!" he pointed to the poor bumper.
You nibble on your lip, caught up and no he wasn't wrong that's exactly what you were going to do.
"What?” You fix your thick frames. "Dude, what are you talking about? I didn't fuck up anything. I was only walking out here getting fresh air, that's all..."
"Oh really?" He took a step closer moving under the moon. It was easier to make out the details. Soft dark curly long hair, muscular figure, piercings, tattoos.... a dangerous combination a guy could have.
Damn.
He wore a Calvin Klein denim jacket with a matching shirt and bold thick platformed boots. He looked like your typical bad boy or fuck boy, you choose. You’d never seen him before, ever.
You reacted, backing away from his unnecessary step. "Yes?"
"You are lying and you fucking suck at it.”
You tried flipping the script. “That’s what you think.”
“It’s what I know and now you’re starting to piss me off.”
"Okay, shit!" Your arms slap your sides, defeated. "I hit your car, okay? But it was a mistake. I was rushing to get to my game and I was going to leave because I needed to avoid this. After all, I'm already late and my coach is upset with me." Listening to you, his eyes were rolled to the back of his head, tired of hearing your sob story. "It was seriously an accident, I misjudged the distance between the cars," you continued. "I'm fucking sorry, okay?"
He was able to see that you were going through a tough time, but did he care? Hell no. He wasn't having any of that. For fucks sake, you hit his car and that's all he cared about, not some girl who's using being late as an excuse to recklessly drive.
“Do you know how much it’s going to cost me to get fixed?”
"No, I don't, but I do know that it's going to be pricey and trust me if I had the money I would pay for the expenses, but I don't have much money right now..."
"Oh, great. Miss careless driver not only hits my car, but she can't afford to fix it. Just what I fucking needed today."
You continued to apologize and reason with him, but he cut you off. "You expect me to accept your apology? That doesn't change the fact you hit my car. I could care less about a fucking apology right now.”
Now... it was bothering you a little. Despite the situation, this guy was being a dickhead.
Did you hit his car? Yes, you did and he has every right to be angry, but there should be some way that this can be resolved respectfully without being an asshole. And that's what he was doing, he's raising his voice, expecting you to stand there like a fool.
He had no idea who he was talking to. You frowned, no longer feeling ashamed or apologetic for hitting his car.
"No, it isn't but I'm sure that if you can afford a Mercedes then I'm sure you have the money to fix the damn bumper yourself," you argued.
"You're right," he chuckled, rubbing his forehead. "I can afford to get it fixed. I don't know why I thought that someone...." His voice trailed off as he faced your car. ".... someone who drives a 2010 Ford Taurus could even pay for a single scratch on my car."
broke bitch alert!!!
He turned around, lifting his brows, waiting for a response from you. The disrespect was too real and you blurted out an aggressive, “Fuck you.”
He was seriously calling you broke…
“And fuck you for hitting my car.” The guy got closer, narrowing his eyes at you as if you were familiar somehow. “You...” His voice trailed off from looking at your sweatshirt.
He got distracted from the words on it. It had your team and university labeled on it.
“You don’t even go to this school, do you?” he asks.
The mysterious boy’s question threw you off. Your eyes darted everywhere before talking. "No...?" you replied lost. "Why the hell does it even matter?"
“I knew you seemed familiar.” He nodded, getting struck by a moment of realization. "You're that one volleyball player who plays at ____ university?" He asked, reading your shirt. "And you're Y/N, right?"
“Yeah, why?”
"You know what-" he smacked his lips. "I'll let this slide this time one time.” You wanted to say thanks, too bad part of you was still heated from the argument, but how did he know your name?
You watched him walk to his car, and then he opened the door. “Just stay the hell out of my way, got it?"
He didn’t have to tell you twice.
"More than happy too,” you shout.
Once he got into his car, you turned around and ran inside the school. heading straight to the gym. You saw your team on the court, playing hard in an intense rally as you walked in. There was a shit ton of people cheering, yelling and screaming.
The noise was a mixture of good and bad…
You glanced at the score and thankfully, it was a tie. Coach gave you a deadpan as you walked towards her with guilt. Like you were expecting, she scolded you or whatever, and then she called a time-out.
All the girls left the court to get water and catch their breaths. Coach like usual, went over everyone's positions and dos and don'ts. While she did so, you slid out of your hoodie and sweatpants, revealing your jersey and shorts under.
You were prepared.
You scanned the crowds on your school's side and damn near everyone showed up to support the team. Some classmates waved at you and of course, you returned the kind gesture, glad to see them here to support the team.
Then randomly out of nowhere, you saw the same guy enter the gymnasium. He walks up a few flights of bleachers to sit with Jimin, Seokjin, and some other guy you don't know.
You assumed they were his friends.
When he's done greeting them... his attention landed on you, only you. It was weird after that interaction you had with him.
Looking away from him, you tried to regain your focus on the girls and coach.
"You all are doing great; except I need you all to make it harder for them. Let's stop fooling around and get in the lead and let it stay that way. Now that Y/N is here there's no more confusion now, the lineup is back to normal. Everyone with me?" Coach looked at everyone and they responded with nodding heads or a yes ma'am.
"Go out there and make them work, make them sweat."
The girls, including you, did your signature hand-stack a second after the buzzer went off. Girls that were benched sat down and girls that were on the court returned to the floor.
You simply do you and you get on the court to do what you're best at.
Play volleyball.
Things went back to normal, everyone played their hearts out, and in the end. You won the game.
But throughout the process, you couldn't help but notice his stares during the whole game. Anytime you'd look in his direction his focus was already on you.
The more you looked at him the more you remembered his identity. Now him knowing your name made sense because he attends your school along with him being in your 5th period.
Chemistry.
His name is Jungkook, Jeon Jungkook. He was a new exchange student from Seoul, but you couldn’t remember his major, although you did remember that he’s in a relationship with a girl named Alex who was well known at your school. Which is also how Jungkook was known in the first place.
It’s surprising because you hardly recognized him due to your head being on such a swivel.
It’s crazy that you've never even crossed paths before.
Ever since your first impression of Jungkook, the universe did its thing where he appeared everywhere now and you couldn’t escape him…
For some odd reason, he stood out even more because every day he went out of his way to bother you and piss you off, constantly. You haven't liked him since then and now you don't like him even more and couldn’t avoid him.
He didn't keep his word when you ran into him and he told you this exactly: "Stay the hell out of my way."
You’ve been stuck with this idiot ever since then.
*Present*
“Should I have taken your glasses instead?” he jokes, knowing damn well you are practically blind. You could see, but not too well.
You bark, “Why are you bothering me?”
“You should’ve never hit my car,” he says, words rolling off his tongue with a shrug.
“Oh, fuck off,” you aggressively tell him, wishing he’d disappear like dust into the air.
How long was he going to hold you accountable for that? It’s been months.
“I’ll fuck off when you tell me what’s up with you. You seem more feisty than usual….” You immediately stop walking to glare at Jungkook who places his finger on his chin.  “Did one of your little boyfriends piss you off?”
He’s referring to Taehyung and Yoongi…
“Wow… your detective skills are impressive,” you sarcastically praise him, dramatically rolling your eyes. “Is that all you got?”
Jungkook strokes his chin. “Am I right?”
“Those aren’t my boyfriends and you are wrong, but why do you even care about what’s going on with me?”
“I don't, I'm just curious,” He replies, sounding interested in the reason for your attitude. “And you look like shit and it’s not because of me… so I want to know.”
“Yeah, and I feel like it too,” You admit, feeling the sleepiness weigh you down. “Like always…” an exhausted sigh leaves your lips.
“Why?” he asks, headphones still in his possession.
Jungkook's questions make you rub your temples. “I’m exhausted and later today I’m gonna be busy. I have to attend the sports event. You know where all athletes are required to go?”
“I’m familiar.” Jungkook places the headphones around his neck. “They announced the dumb thing yesterday.”
“It’s not dumb, Jungkook,” you declare, folding your arms, giving him a deadpan. “It's an important and great opportunity for all college athletes. It only happens once a year.”
The sports event in the evening that you are attending is an event for all athletes. It allows students to meet other teams including school teams, professional teams and club teams.
It’s a chance to ask professional coaches and players for advice for future reference. Sometimes, people who are that good get recruited to play on a team outside of school with the professionals.
That happens to maybe a couple of students out of the multitude of schools put together. Being chosen is such an amazing opportunity, you get to be on national television, by any chance make history, and get paid tons and other good things, but you weren’t banking on it this year.  The odds of you getting scouted out were more than average, however, there are still things you’re insecure about when it comes to playing.
If anything, you need to secure those first before putting yourself out there, on national television.
“Beasty…” he says as if he had a question.
“Yes...?” you lazily nod slowly, watching his tongue glide over his teeth while smirking.
He better not ask to be my additional person
Was he going to ask you if he could be your extra guest this evening? You’re currently figuring out who’s that going to be, but it damn sure wasn’t going to him.
“Will-”
You squint your eyes, hoping this isn’t leading to a proposal. “Wait… you aren’t suggesting that I should take you-”
“No, I’m already going,” he claims, shaking his head. “And I have my date for this evening. I was just wondering about yours.”
Date, hm?
“So, who is it?” he asks, intrigued.
It's purely silent for a moment, but you think of something quickly to save yourself from the embarrassment-
You quickly speak up. "I have a date,” you throw in proudly, ignoring how big of a lie that is.
All you care about is covering your ass at the moment, not the backlash.
you’re such a fucking liar.
"Right, so who is it?"
You dodge his question. “Who's your date, Jungkook?” you ponder, pretending that your curiosity isn’t bouncing off the walls. You could feel it in your bones.
Jungkook isn't an athlete for the school, so that means the person he will be attending the event with is someone who goes to this school or someone else.
His face twitches with amusement. Seeing you in his business is a sight for him. “A very good friend of mine…”
“Is she on my team?”
“I can assure you she isn’t.” Jungkook cackles before confirming, “Volleyball players aren’t my type.”
Then what is?
•that’s a relief
“She goes to another school anyway. I can guarantee that you don’t know her.” Jungkook watches your eyes drop from his face to his neck, then grips the headphones firmly.
“Enough about mine,” he says as he changes the subject unexpectedly. “Who’s your…” A smile plastered on his face. “Date. And don't answer my question with another question."
Hm, who is your date??
"It's a secret," you whisper, motioning sealed lips. "I'll reveal mine once I see yours.”
He gives a subtle shrug. "Fair enough," Jungkook says, nodding his head, acknowledging your agreement.
*Bell rings!*
“Oh, won’t you look at that?” Placing your hands on your hips, you point out, “It's time to go class…so-” you stare at the headphones again. “Are you going to hand them over or what?”
Jungkook looks down at your hand and laughs when you extend it out. “Should I?” He calmly asks, pushing your buttons. You start to tap your foot impatiently, exaggerating your irritation.
He thinks to himself for a moment, before his eyes drop to the beats around his neck, then shortly locks eyes with your frustrated ones. “Actually… I want to hang onto these for a little while. These will come in handy during my workout.”
“Fine! Keep them,” you express with a dramatic slap to the side of your thighs. “But don’t think that I won’t get them back.”
As the warning bell rings, you shoot him a withering glare and without wasting a single second, you storm off to class with only one particular thing on your mind… and it wasn’t the headphones…
Who is Jungkook's date?
To be continued…

obsessed with the idea of price sitting with some guys (doesn’t even have to be the other 141 members) and then has the realization that he could be home at this very moment with his wife and like a light switch went off he decides to get up and leave and go home to his wife (bonus points if he’s there for max 40 minutes and decides to do an irish goodbye and dip)
The front door opens and closes far earlier than you'd expected--John had told you beforehand that "the lads" liked to go into the late hours of the night, and you should just take advantage of his absence and have a cozy night in.
You'd done just that. A crochet project is piled in your lap, some ugly yarn from your gran's stash that she let you filch with the promise that you'd make something from it. You're working away stitch by stitch at an equally ugly scarf, Bake Off playing muted on John's TV, when he swaggers in, drops onto the couch beside you, and shoves his face into your thighs.
"Thought you'd be out late," you say, setting the project aside and settling your hands on his head. His hair is growing out--the longer strands are soft between your fingers as you dig them in.
"Bored," he mumbles, muffled against you. He nuzzles deeper, rubbing his beard against your lounge pants, as his arm comes around your knees and he worms the flat of his hand under your butt.
"How much did you have to drink?" you ask, stroking his face. The swatch of his cheek that you can see is flushed red.
"Lots," he grunts.
"Was it even an hour?"
"No."
"And you walked all the way home like this?" you inquire, smothering a giggle. John drunk is a rare treat--he gets grumpy, and affectionate, in a way that is incredibly too endearing.
"M' a captain," he mutters. "Do what I want. Can leave lads' night 'f I miss my wife." He punctuates this sentence with a sloppy kiss to your clothed thigh. Then he sighs, hard. "Can't see real well."
"Did you even tell them you were leaving?" you ask, tugging on his earlobe.
"They'll figure it out. 'Ventually."
You continue your ministrations with one hand while you lean over and search with the other through his pockets for his phone. No messages.
"They haven't yet."
"Dumb muppets," John grumbles. "Never leave a man behind..."
And he promptly falls asleep in your lap, almost immediately snoring thanks to his terrible posture. You set his phone nearby, in case his mates find a clear moment later to be concerned for his well-being, and go back to petting his hair.

Jack Harlow x Reader : STRAWBERRIES AND SOME.
WARNING : SMUT !!!! 18+
Huge thanks to my boo @harlowcomehome for this one and for helping me out 🤭🤭 I tell you every time how much I appreciate you 🤞🏼💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack had suggested throwing a little BBQ with his family and close friends. He’s been on the road non stop, so he just wanted to relax and catch up with everyone.
Sadly the timing wasn’t right, because your house was getting remodeled so there was no chance of hosting at your place. Luckily, Urban, Sunni and Copelan were nice enough to offer their home.
Jack had texted everyone saying how he didn’t want you stressing or cooking due to you being pregnant. So everyone helped out and each brought a plate and Urban’s father gladly offered to cook the Pattie’s.
You were all finally seated, enjoying the company and just laughing at everyone’s crazy stories.
“Daddy, can I have somes?”
“Here you go baby.” You look up and see Jack handing Mia some strawberries.
You don’t know how you didn’t notice before, but this time you did and it got you feeling all kinds of things.
Jack goes to take a bite from a strawberry and notice how his lips are tinted red, how juicy his lips look and how hot he looked biting into it.
That goes on for two minutes max, but it was enough to get you going.
You reach out for your phone and immediately text him.
Wifey : Are you teasing me?
He doesn’t respond.
Wifey : Fuck that’s hot.
He still doesn’t respond, so you continue to blow up his phone.
Wifey : Wish it was me you were biting and sucking on like that.
Wifey : Babe
Wifey : Jackman, let’s go to the car real quick.
Wifey : I’m so wet, just seeing you bite into the strawberry like that, got me dripping.
“Y/N, who are you texting so much?” Druski pulls you out of your thoughts. , “You texting your sancho?.” He teases.
You look up, a little lightheaded and hot, so you laugh it off. “Oh yeah, sure.”
You notice Jack is looking at you with a confused and irritated look on him. His eyebrows are furrowed and he tilts his head to the side.
You look down to your phone and send him another text.
Wifey : Babyyyy, let’s sneak off real quick 🥵
Wifey : 🍆🍑 💦 JACKMAN, I need you baby.
You’re getting annoyed that he isn’t responding to any of your text messages, so you grumpily slam your phone on the table, turn to look at Jack, but notice he’s already looking at you but he seems annoyed, his vein on his neck popping out.
He stands up from his seat, and nods towards the house. “Excuse us, I need to speak to my wife privately.”
You quickly stand up and follow behind him, getting excited and nervous.
You two are on the side of the house, away from everyone.
“Baby, why didn’t you correct Druski? Who were you texting.?” He asks you, rubbing at your belly.
You noticed the tone of his voice, Jack rarely got jealous but when he did you caught on quickly.
You feel like ever since you got pregnant this second time around, he’s been somewhat territorial, with both men and women, it didn’t matter. He just didn’t want anyone near you, he wanted you all to himself.
You can’t help but smile and stare at his lips, he has a bit of strawberry juice on them, so you get on your tippy toes, and give him a quick kiss, but not without licking his bottom lip.
You pull back, smile at him. “Check your phone dummy.”
He raises his eyebrows but pulls out his phone from the back of his pocket. “You texted- oh? OHHHH?????”
“Let me fuck the earrings off of you?” You smile at him cheekily.
He’s smirking at you, “Let’s go then, what my baby wants, my baby gets.” He walks you both inside the house and into the bathroom, he quickly closes the door.
“In here?” You giggle as he sets you on the counter.
“Tell me, what did it for you?” He rasps, the eager smirk painted across his face.
“The way you were eating the strawberries, your entire mouth was sucking around it, and I just imagine it being me.”
“Yeah?”
“Let’s see how wet you are for me.” He spreads your thighs apart.
He pulls up your dress to your waist, and with his index finger he brushes your clit in one quick movement.
You whimper out, “J-Jack, no teasing baby, I c-can’t. Need you now.”
He continued to play with your clit “You’re wet, like” his breath hitches “really wet.” He quickly removes your panties, tossing them to the side.
“Please baby, I need you now” You look at him with begging eyes.
“Let me eat you like those strawberries?” He smirks, his dimple prominent which didn’t help the twitch you felt against your clit.
“I can’t wait any longer” you whined and Jack knew you mean business, ever since you got pregnant the most subtle things turned you on, and he wasn’t complaining. At all.
You reached for his pants, unbuttoning them as he sloppily kissed you. You could feel him coming undone already, as he let out moans into your mouth.
“Baby- you’re loud” you giggled and he did too.
“I can’t help it, you started it” he smiled.
“You did! You were eating those strawberries like that on purpose” you salivated as his dick sprung free.
He lined himself up, pushing his hips against you and pushing past your walls as you tightly hugged his dick.
“Boobs” he moaned and you were all but incoherent.
“Hmm?” You hummed but he was already lifting the remainder of your dress over your head. He hurriedly took your bra off, your boobs bounced freely in front of him.
Jack continued to thrust into you, but his mouth went from sloppily kissing you to sucking on your already sensitive nipples.
“Fuck” you exhaled, “baby, baby, I’m going to…” your voice was shaky and urgent.
“Don’t cum, don’t you dare” Jack rasped, he always challenged you to hold back. The sweat was forming in his hairline making his curls stick to his forehead and that image alone wasn’t helping you hold off your orgasm.
“I can’t, I can’t” you felt your legs trembling and your stomach growing hotter by the second.
“Whose pussy is this?” He moaned, he was panting in your ear.
His moans always made you urgently reach your climax.
“Your- yours” your voice trembled as you reached your orgasm. You threw your head back, and Jack continued to thrust into you chasing his own.
He was nearly ready to orgasm when the bathroom door flung open.
You yell out in shock, Jack mumbles a quick “Shit” and rushes to cover you up.
“We have a guest bedroom for that, you nasties.” Urban chuckles. He closes the door after a moment of realization of who was in there and what was happening.
You and Jack fix your clothes in place, and try to look somewhat presentable before walking out.
“Let’s hurry up and eat so we can get home.” He walks you both out of the bathroom. “After Mia goes down for her nap we’re going for round two and we’re not stopping.”
You smirk, “That was the plan baby.”
You two are walking back outside and sitting down at the table. You thought fucking him in the bathroom would calm you down but it only got you more hot and needy for him.
“Damn Jack, your wife fucked the earrings off of you?” Druski yells out, making everyone stare at you both.
Jack goes to touch his earlobe and smirks, “I guess she did.” He winks your way.
“Here you go baby, can’t have you losing them.” You hand him his diamond earring with a smile.

pairing: Joel Miller neighbor!au x fem!reader
summary: No outbreak, not canon in the slightest, Joel Miller as your neighbor growing up. You've returned home from grad school for winter break after your long-term boyfriend broke up with you
rating: 18+ (no minors please)
word count: 4.9k
warnings etc: No outbreak Joel, no Sarah, age gap (9 years) mentioned and defined, fluff, dirty talk, oral (f receiving), food consumed, semi-public? Chance of getting caught?
A/N: This is the prologue to "Don't" with not all of the background mentioned. I think this will end up being a 3 part? Idk, maybe 4 max. Anywho, be gentle with me.
It had been easy to find comfort in Joel.
The rush of wind around your face made you shiver, once hot tears streaming down your face drying quickly and leaving behind a sting of cold. You huffed out a breath, running your wrist against your face to try and remove the wetness as more sprung from your eyes. It was pitiful how you were crying over this, but you had spent two years with him.
Jason had met your family, your friends, your goddamn neighbor that you’ve had a crush on since he moved in, and he just…broke up with you. Let you help him pack up his car for winter break, let you get on your knees and give him a blow job, and then tell you that he wanted to take a break. That you were too much.
You were too much, as far as you were concerned. Too clingy, too needy, too much of just about everything that Jason hated–
r u home 4 winter break? Or is ur car needing work?
Joel.
You hadn’t even realized you pulled your phone out of your pocket on your trek to the hiking trail you used to sit at with your friends. Memories of asking Joel to pick you up and drop you off at the head of the trail so that your parents didn’t know you had snuck out flashed through your mind as you typed your response.
At hiking trail rn
It wasn’t really an answer to his question, but it was all you were willing to give. You sat on a rock just barely out of the view of the gravel lot, wiping at your eyes again and sighing. You could sit here for a bit longer before having to explain to your mom why you were back in town.
Tumblr media
Joel frowned at the text you sent him, glancing up at your car again. He had just arrived home from a long day of work and felt something warm in his stomach at the site of your beat-up vehicle sitting in the driveway. The last time he spoke to you was over 6 months ago, when you and your boyfriend were visiting your mom, and Joel had helped change your oil.
He always seemed to help you with your car, and he was positive he was the reason it was still running. From his first introduction to you at 17 years old, crying while your car smoked in your driveway, he had always been your go-to neighbor.
If you were at the hiking trail that was only a mile away from the neighborhood, you were upset. He had watched you enough times running from your back door while your dad yelled after you to know where you would go.
He debated asking if you wanted to be alone but decided to hop back in his truck and head in that direction. He could walk himself, but the look of the sky told him you were going to be rained down on any minute and thought better of it.
Tumblr media
You heard the engine of Joel’s truck within five minutes and scoffed out loud. Of course he was here. You turned your head to watch the trail, listening to his boots hit the gravel, his sigh as he began walking right toward you. He couldn’t see you, but he knew well enough where you were.
When Joel comes into eyesight you have to hold your breath, trying to not show how surprised you are by how he looks. How long has it been since you last saw him? The broadness of his chest, the way his shirt tightened around his arms as he crossed them–
“You’re a sight for sore eyes, darlin’.” He drawls, smirking at you. Does he have to do that? “It looks like it is going to rain. Figured you didn’t want to walk home in that.”
You snort out a laugh, glancing up to the sky while you unknowingly give Joel access to look at your neck and chest for longer than he normally would. “You’re right.” You look back over at him, his ears are red with what you think is annoyance, and try to act nonchalant. “How’s it going?”
He shrugs at you, moving his hands to his pockets before looking around and leaning against a nearby tree. “It’s about how it’s always been, sweetheart. You staying for the whole winter break or just visiting for the day?”
You and Joel had always been straightforward with each other. It was easiest that way, with how passive your mom was and how aggressive your dad was. You knew that the first time Joel moved in and saw you panicking in your driveway over your car that he was going to always tell you like it was-no bullshit. It had developed into more of a one-sided pining, asking Joel for his number to help you with your car or to ask him for a ride if you needed it. But he had always agreed, helping you when he could and being a person for you to rely on.
You take a deep breath to gather the courage to tell him. “I’m probably going to stay for the whole break. Don’t want to stay in the apartment all winter long.”
“Why’s that?”
You pause, looking up at him and biting the inside of your lip to not cry. You didn’t see Joel’s eyes soften at the first hint of just how upset you were. “Jason….broke up with me.”
He grunts, taking a step toward your place on the rock and crouching down in front of you. Your eyes widen in shock; he’s never been this close to you willingly. Under your car holding a light for him or next to him in his truck is just not the same. His hands reach forward, resting on your knees and giving you a squeeze before saying “Never liked him anyways darlin’. You’re too good for him.”
You feel your eyes well up with tears and try to blink them away, surprised again when Joel reaches forward and wipes at your cheek. What you were warring with bubbled over and out of your mouth before you could think about it. “It feels like I wasted two years of my life, Joel.”
He sighed, holding your face in his hands and you tilted into him subconsciously. He doesn’t know what else to say, or what to tell you, so he offers “Let’s go to the diner? I’ll get you French toast like how you used to get it.”
You smile softly, holding back a giggle as blood rushes to your cheeks. “Sure. I could go for that.”
Tumblr media
Joel is watching you from the corner of his eye in his truck, and how on edge you truly are. You are hiding it well, but he knows you. Knows that you are still upset, still feeling like you wasted your life on Jason. He could murder that kid right now.
The whole ride is quiet, the sound of rain splattering his windshield starts soon after he leaves the hiking trail, your soft puffs of breath fogging the window that you’re looking out of. He pulls into the diner, parking in the back of the lot, and turns to you before you can get out and grab your knee. He doesn’t know why he can’t keep his hands off you.
“You didn’t waste your life, sweetheart.” He starts, wincing internally at how he can’t seem to hold back the pet names. “He’s just…he’s a boy–”
“We are both 25, Joel. I know that’s young but plenty of people get married before then–” You start to get riled up, face flushing red and tears brimming your eyes before you cover your face. You take a deep breath before speaking again. “Two years of my life I thought I was going to marry him and then he fucking tells me that I’m too much work! And that I’m too clingy!”
“You’re not those things.” Joel grounds out, trying to keep from letting his anger show. The idea that someone who you loved would say those things to you made his blood boil. “Jason is a boy. He doesn't know what he really wants besides someone to do his laundry and cook his food.”
You lean back against the passenger seat and sigh, shaking your head and leaning against the window. You had been cooking meals for Jason, had done his laundry plenty of times, and thought nothing of it. You felt weak, ready to cry at any moment, and it made you feel pitiful.
“Don’t let him affect you like that.” Joel pushes, frowning at you and squeezing your leg. When you look at him, his eyes soften with a tilt of his head. “The right guy will come along who doesn’t want to marry his mother. I know you took care of him more than you should have.”
Joel feels the heat from your leg seep through your jeans and into his hand, making his heart jump before he pulls his hand away. “Let’s go eat. I’ll take care of you today.”
Tumblr media
Swooning wasn’t a sufficient word.
I’ll take care of you today.
Did Joel even know what he was saying to you? Did he understand that later you would lay in your bed and think of him while you slid your fingers through your folds? You’re doing your best to not look completely flustered, stumbling out of his vehicle and loping beside him to the front door of the diner. Your breath hitched in your throat when Joel guided you inside with his hand wrapping around your waist for an instant, forcing you to walk faster to keep up and stay out of the rain.
You’re still thinking about what he said as the waitress brings two plates of French toast to your table, piled high with butter and maple syrup flowing over the sides and onto the table in tiny drops. Joel’s smile to you makes your heart skip, shoveling a piece of the breakfast food into your mouth to cover it up.
Joel’s eyes stay glued to you, slurping on a freshly brewed cup of coffee. You take another bite of your French toast, cinnamon sugar swirled into the bread, sighing heavily when the melted butter hits your tongue. The warmth of the bread, and the sweetness of the maple syrup, give you enough confidence to ask. “Why didn’t you tell me you didn’t like Jason?”
Joel pauses his sipping, raising his eyebrows at you. He gives you a quick shrug before glancing at the table behind you. “Not my place.” He says quietly, looking down at his food and dragging a piece of his food through a sea of syrup. “You liked him, I wasn’t going to tell you otherwise.”
You huff at that, giving him a look that tells him you want him to explain more. When he doesn’t, you set your fork down and cross your arms on the table. “I would have appreciated someone saying something.”
Joel grunts, not fully convinced as he takes the last bite of his French toast. “No, you wouldn’t have darlin’. I’m just your neighbor, and me pulling you aside to say that Jason wasn’t the one would have been a quick way to get my nose broken.” He laughs, looking up at you.
You’re quiet, letting his laugh die out before mumbling. “You’re not…just my neighbor Joel.” His eyes widen briefly, your food forgotten as you stare at him. Debating on how to tell him you relied on him more than anyone, how he was a sanctuary in all your issues at home even though Joel knew very few details, you sigh out, “You’ve helped me in more ways than one and…you live next door but you’re more like–”
“Don’t say a brother,” Joel mumbles, raising his eyebrows at you jokingly. Deep in the back of his mind, he’s hoping that he hasn’t come across that way.
“I wasn’t! You’re not.” You pause, laughing full-bellied. The idea is so ridiculous that you blurt out, “I wouldn’t have a crush on someone that I see like a brother–”
It feels like the world stops turning when you realize what has just left your mouth, looking up to Joel’s coughing, coffee sputtering out back into his cup. Your eyes widen in panic, watching him set his cup back down and red rush back to the tips of his ears. You would almost think he looks excited beyond the surprise, but you can’t dwell on it.
It’s only a split second before you make the decision to book it out of the diner. You trip over your feet, pushing into the glass door and into the rain as you vaguely hear Joel calling your name. You don’t bother to turn back, regretting even saying anything at all. You should have just let Joel say he was only your neighbor and leave it at that.
Tears are running down your face again, down the sidewalk and through someone's side yard to the trail that you know is there. You feel stupid and pitiful again, admitting to having a crush on your neighbor who is 9 years older than you while also having him console you over a long-term breakup.
You quickly make the decision to cut through the hiking trail, back to the gravel lot where Joel had first picked you up, and then back to your house. Maybe you could even make it to your car before Joel realized where you went and you can drive back to campus because this is more embarrassing than coming home and crying about Jason.
Tumblr media
Joel doesn’t know what to do watching you almost smack your face against the door handle as you rush out of the diner. He tries to call you back, feeling embarrassed for making you uncomfortable. He didn’t mean to start choking on his coffee when he heard you admit that you had a crush on him. Currently, have a crush on him? He wasn’t sure. Something in his gut wanted to find out desperately.
He pulled his wallet out roughly to pay the bill, getting out of the booth and opening the door at the same time he sees you cut through someone's yard. “Shit!” He says out loud, striding quickly over to his truck and hopping in the driver’s seat. He had to beat you home, or at least stop you from whatever it was that you were going to do.
Joel is tapping on his wheel as he drives up the road to the hiking trail when he sees you, drenched and running on the sidewalk heading in the opposite direction. You most certainly see him, eyes widening and freezing in place as if a scared animal and don’t know where to go. Joel pulls over, rolling his window down and leaning closer to the opening. “Why did you run off?” He says sharply, eyebrows furrowed together.
He doesn’t mean to come off harsh but knows he has when you respond with. “I freaked out. I’m sorry-”
“Would you get in the truck?” He amends, reaching for the handle and opening it towards you as an invitation. He waits for you to make a decision, watching you closely to see if you will bolt again. “I’ll take you wherever you want to go.” He concedes, watching you take a deep breath before begrudgingly sliding into the vehicle and slamming the door shut behind you.  While you try to get ahold of yourself, wiping at your cheeks and flicking your hair behind your shoulder, Joel waits patiently. He can’t help but reach over and place his hand on your leg again, even when you tense up. “It’s alright.”
You huff again, pulling your hand back into your lap. “I’m sorry.” You say quietly, glancing at his hand on your leg and shut your eyes tightly. “I didn’t mean to make it weird. I just meant that I used to have a crush on you. Like when I was 17, or something.”
Joel holds back his sigh, knowing that any type of response might set you off to run again. He hides the fact that his chest deflates at the idea that it was a teenage crush, rather than a current one. He reels himself in at the thought that he is actually disappointed, beating himself up mentally that he shouldn’t have hoped you still liked him-he’s convinced that he is too old for you. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you.” He mumbles, looking over at you. “You just surprised me. No harm.”
You nod quickly, looking down at your hands and at his on your knee. He gives you another squeeze to bring your attention back up to him. “For what it’s worth,” He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes before saying, “You’re beautiful, and I would be lucky for you to have a crush on me.”
You stare at him in shock, waiting for him to take it back.
When he doesn’t, you find yourself leaning towards him and pressing your lips to his cheek lightly, testing the waters. You pull back just enough to watch his reaction, before leaning in again and moving your lips to his.
He’s frozen for only an instant more before his fingers curl into the back of your hair, wet from the rain, and pulling your face towards his. You can’t believe this is happening, wondering if maybe you actually fell and hit your head on your way out of the diner, and this is just some coma-induced dream.
It feels more real when Joel’s hand trails down from the back of your head to your neck, giving you a light squeeze and then pulling himself away from you. He’s breathing heavily, slowly removing his hands from you before pressing them to the steering wheel and blinking rapidly.
He knows he shouldn’t have reciprocated. He knows he shouldn’t have said anything. He wonders if he should have just let you run home like you had planned.
You’re wondering if he’s regretting what just happened between you as he puts the truck in gear and turns it around in the gravel lot just ahead, driving back to your neighborhood. Anxiety roils in your stomach as he pulls up to your house and puts the truck in park, not even looking at you as he waits for you to exit.
You do just that, wondering how much more you will cry tonight when you slam the door behind you.
Tumblr media
The next day, after you walked into your house and were bombarded by questions from your mom and dad, you’re debating even getting up. The bed is too small, but the blankets are warm and your pillow is comfortable, and the idea of having to explain in more detail before your parents go to work gives you the worst feeling.
You glance out your window where the curtain has shifted, and notice that Joel’s truck is still in the driveway. You wonder vaguely if he has the day off from his job in construction when you hear a knock on your door.
Your mom only knocks to give you a warning that she is coming in, your door yawning open as you huff out a small “What?”
“Just letting you know I’m heading to work and your dad is soon as well.” She says quietly, tapping her fingers against the door knob. “Do you have plans today?”
You roll your eyes before turning over to face her. “Wallow in self-pity and cry some more.” You say sarcastically, watching her shake her head at you in mild disgust.
“Do the dishes, won’t you?” She says back, walking into the room to give you a kiss on the head before walking out and leaving the door open.
You sigh heavily and wait another 30 minutes, listening to your dad groan to himself before leaving and locking the door behind him. You wonder vaguely if you have a spare key still hidden under the back step, and if you’ll be able to leave the house today. Maybe you could actually go on a hike.
Motivation takes over you as you stand, stretching for a minute before finding clothes you would be comfortable in for the day. A simple walk may be all you need to move past Jason breaking your heart today. You don’t know what will push your shared kiss with Joel out of your brain.
Tumblr media
Joel is drinking the last bits of his coffee when he sees you step out your back door and check under a potted plant, nodding to yourself and walking away without so much as a glance toward his house. He had planned on not reaching out to you-let you figure out what you wanted and then pretend that nothing occurred if that was what you wanted. It was only the next day, after all.
In a split second after watching you head towards that damn hiking trail, Joel rinses his cup and steps out into the yard. You’re too far away to have noticed he has appeared, but he wonders if he should go after you, or if he should take his truck with him. Does he have an excuse to bring the truck? He glances up at the sky briefly, already knowing that it wasn’t supposed to rain again for another couple of days. Trailing behind you without saying anything is just creepy, and he doesn’t want to be that person–
His legs carry him at a brisk pace, boots thumping on the ground and his jeans riding lower with every step. When he calls your name he internally cringes at how you lift your shoulders and freeze, turning just your head around to look at him. “Hold on just a second.” He calls, jogging up to where you have paused.
You give him this look that makes him want to laugh, but he understands. You look frightened of your own embarrassment, trying to mask it with indifference. When he stops next to you and takes a deep breath, he doesn’t really know what his plan is. “You going on a walk?”
You nod, swallowing and shuffling in place for a moment. “Was going to attempt to actually hike instead of just sit there.”
He hums, taking a step in the direction you were going. “I’m off today, mind if I join you?”
He knows you’re pretending to not care just as much as he is, but you smile at him and agree, walking alongside him up to the head of the trail.
Tumblr media
You’re about two minutes into this hike, and both you and Joel are out of breath. You haven’t spoken more than when he first caught up with you, and you don’t think you want him to. Pausing to catch your breath doesn’t seem like an option if you really don’t want to talk, so you continue on the path, going up higher on this hill.
Glancing over at Joel makes your face turn red, realizing he is in his boots and jeans that he keeps tugging up, and a dark blue shirt that will likely be covered in sweat if you continue at this pace. He could turn back if he didn’t want to do this walk with you, but you know that he didn’t come to actually walk. He wants to say something, and if you just don’t let him get the chance–
“Can you just, hold on for a second.” Joel puffs out, stopping and placing his hands on his hips. He’s trying to catch his breath, holding his mouth slightly open and furrowing his brow at you. “When the hell did you start walking so fast?”
You can’t help the giggle that bubbles out of you at the ridiculous question. You are walking fast, but the point was to not talk. You aren’t going to admit that to him. “Just moving with a purpose.”
Joel sighs, shifting his weight to his other foot. “Can we talk?”
You immediately start shaking your head, taking another step forward. “No, Joel I don’t want–”
His hand wraps around your wrist gently, pulling you towards him to get you to stop in place. Your heart picks up the pace, closing your eyes to try and stay calm. “Look at me, please.”
When you don’t turn he yanks on your arm again, forcing you to spin into him and bump into his chest with a huff. You open your eyes to only look down, noticing the way his chest rises and falls against yours is erratic, almost like he can’t control himself.
He says your name quietly, forcing your eyes up to his with his hand under your chin. You stare at him, unsure what his motives are, mind going into overdrive. What is the purpose of this? What does he want to talk about? You’re convincing yourself that yesterday was a mistake and that Joel wouldn’t want you the way that you’ve wanted him when he leans forward and presses his lips to yours again.
Your eyes flutter shut when he pushes forward to you again, pulling back for a moment to inhale heavily and pressing his tongue out to yours. Brushing it against the seam of your lips to ask permission, sliding his hand up from your wrist into the back of your hair.
You pull away suddenly after getting lost in his touch, eyes widening at him as he slowly lifts his gaze. “You don’t want me.” You breathe out, leaning further away from him.
He tsks at you, tightening his grip and holding you in place. “I shouldn’t.” He confirms, leaning back forward and attaching his lips to yours again.
What happens next seems natural. The way that he kisses your neck and pulls away only to find somewhere secluded off the trail, makes your head spin. How this is happening is beyond you, but your body is alight with desire and bubbling with excited anxiety.
Joel can’t help but want to watch you only; make you feel good after yesterday's turmoil of Jason, of the diner, of kissing in his truck. He wants to convey to you that he wants you, and the only way to do that is to get on his knees for you while you’re pinned against this rock.
His fingers are gentle, cautious, and waiting for you to give the go-ahead before pulling the waistband of your pants down to your ankles and sliding one of your legs out. He’s quick to pull it over his shoulder, hands supporting your hips as he slowly and methodically explores you with his tongue.
You bite your lip at the sight of his eyes looking back at you, his pink tongue reaching out to your slit and groaning with want at how you taste. “Oh, darlin’, if I had known this is how you taste–” He cuts himself off with another exploration of his tongue. “I would have said something sooner.”
The “something” that he would have said is lost on you, and easy to not dwell on as his tongue dips lower to your opening and barely enters to feel the smooth skin there. You sigh happily, closing your eyes and leaning your head back into the bark with a dull “thunk”.
Joel feels his head spinning, his internal monologue telling him this is wrong, but unable to stop at the thought of seeing you let go. To see you completely relaxed in front of him is something he didn’t know he craved, but your plush legs surrounding him and your long neck exposed as you look up toward the sky makes his pants tighten with need and the want to see you come undone.
And soon enough his tongue helps you do exactly that. Your hand pushes through his hair and yanks, feeling overwhelmed at the idea that Joel is the one to do this. “I’m close–I’m gonna–”
Joel doesn’t let up, pushing himself closer to your center and wrapping his lips around your clit. The suction and flick of his tongue is all you need, breath hitching in your throat and closing your eyes at the sensation. You come so heavily that Joel is seriously holding you up, fingers digging into your skin as your legs shake.
When you come down your breath is coming out ragged, looking down at him to see his chin is covered with your wetness, a small smirk on his lips. He leans his head against your thigh that is still hanging over his shoulder, a sigh fanning over your center. He clears his throat, taking one hand and wiping his chin before patting your leg and helping you set it down. “I would have told you Jason was an ass sooner.” He clarifies, eyes bouncing between your own.
Your face goes red again, his fingers pulling up the waistband of your pants as he stands up. He leans against you, his hard-on poking against your leg as you reach for it, wanting to reciprocate before he stops you. You look up at him again, furrowing your eyebrows at him in confusion.
He gives you a small smile, sighing heavily before saying. “Next time, darlin’.”

No Regrets - Part Six
Part One🦇 Part Two🦇Part Three🦇Part Four🦇Part Five🦇Part Six
Tumblr media
Eddie hasn't spoken a word since they found him in the boat house. Chief Powell told Nancy this on the phone, calling on Eddie's behalf, and another officer tells them again when they say they're here to pick him up.
Steve has a vague memory of this. He didn't go with to pick up Eddie last time, it was... Wayne? Maybe? The ache in Steve's head, the sign he's come to realize means he's changed something, is the indicator that's true. It means Wayne didn't go pick up El and the others last time, the original time?
Whatever. Steve can't be worried about that; it doesn't matter anymore how it went last time. Last timeline ended with him dead, dying?, so he's fine with forgetting it.
"Hey Eddie," Nancy greets as she stands in front of Eddie. He's just sat in a chair in the lobby area, staring straight ahead but not looking at anything. His eyes are vacant in a way that brings a sense of déjà vu to Steve. "Wayne asked us to pick you up."
Eddie doesn't even acknowledge that she's there.
"Eddie?" Nancy asks, leaning down just a little to put her face in Eddie's view. "Come on. Let's go."
"Nance," Steve says, digging the keys from his pocket, "can you get the car and park closer to the front door? I'll get Eddie."
Nancy turns to look at him, eyes flitting about his face before she nods, reaching out to take the keys.
Steve steps into the place she vacated in front of Eddie and squats. Gets eye level even if Eddie isn't looking back. "Hey, Eddie. It's Steve. Uh, Steve Harrington. Wayne couldn't come get you, he has something else he had to do, but I'm here to take you home."
It's barely there, but Eddie flinches at 'home.' It looks more like a twitch of his shoulder, and it could have been, but Steve thinks it's more than that.
"We don't have to go in. There's- across the road from you is Max Mayfield's house. You ever meet her?" Steve just talks, tries to keep his voice calm, conversational. "We can wait at Max's place for your uncle to get home. Just. We gotta go, man. Can't sit here in the police station all day." Steve reaches for Eddie's hand, to grab and try to coax him into standing. Except, as soon as Steve's fingers make contact, Eddie jerks back and Eddie finally looks at him, eyes snapping to Steve's face. He's not present, not really; he still kind of looks like he's looking beyond Steve rather than at him.
"Sorry, sorry," Steve says, just as softly. "I won't touch. But your uncle asked us to get you, so, please. We gotta go."
"Harrington?"
Oh. Oh no. It's only now that he's faced with looking directly at Eddie, faced with having Eddie looking directly at him that he thinks he might not be ready. He's not it turns out. He's not ready to face Eddie, not when he has memories of- of-
"And Buckley," Robin is suddenly here, pushing into Steve's space. Getting in Eddie's face. "And we are going to be heading to Forest Hills. So, unless you, like, want to spend the day the lovely police force of Hawkins, I suggest getting out of that chair and following us."
How can she have ever been worried about not being able to read his mind anymore?
"Right," Eddie says, more to himself than to Robin. He does go to stand, though, so Steve does, too. Puts some distance between himself and Eddie.
Steve leads the way to the car as Eddie follows behind like a ghost.
Except, it's Steve that's the ghost, isn't it? Does- does the future continue to go even without Steve there? Even as he changes how things went, or are going?
If it keeps going how long was Eddie trapped in his hold? Held by a selfish dead man who wasn't kind enough to not tell Eddie how he feels. Felt?
He looks to Eddie from the corner of his eye before he climbs into the passenger seat. Definitely how he still feels.
"I used your radio to get a hold of Dustin," Nancy says as they pull away from the curb. "He's on his way back to Max's from Cerebro. He got through to the walkie we sent with Wayne. We should all be together in an hour."
"Where'd you send my uncle? Why did he agree to go?" Eddie asks from the backseat.
"That's a loaded question, Munson," Robin answers, "but we'll explain it. Just, uh, just know that we believe you, and we know you didn't do anything to Chrissy."
"I didn't!"
"We know!" Robin placates, and Steve twists in his seat to he can see her. She's behind the driver's seat so he can see her without looking at Eddie. "We know. I swear we'll explain everything. Just when your uncle gets back, okay?"
Eddie doesn't verbally respond but Steve sees Robin nodding back to him so that's that.
There isn't any more talking the rest of the drive. Nancy parks next to her mom's car in front of Max's place and hands Steve's keys back to him before she climbs out. Eddie and Robin are next. Steve remains seated, listens as Robin says something about 'going home later' before he sees Eddie head towards Max's front door. He doesn't even pause to look in at Steve as he walks by.
Why would he? This Eddie doesn't know him. They're not bonded by five years of surviving hell together. This Eddie doesn't know anything about him, and Steve knows his whole life.
Robin startles him by pulling open his door to say, "you coming in?"
He looks from Robin to where Nancy and Eddie have disappeared into the trailer. "I don't- I can't. Robin, I can't."
"Hey, it's okay," Robin assures him, "it's okay. We can stay out here until you're ready."
Steve swallows thickly before nodding. She's squat beside the door, hand on the roof for support and the other on Steve. Also for support, but of the emotional kind. "I think I'm in love with him, and he barely tolerates me. It took a couple months for him to warm up to me, and that was with the help of an apocalypse. Will he even-" like me without it? He doesn't finish but the frown that comes to Robin's face lets him know he doesn't need to.
"Of course, he will. He did once before."
Steve turns from Robin to look out the front windshield. "Yeah. Maybe."
"I'll go in and let them know you need some time. Come in when you're ready," she squeezes his knee and then she's gone.
This time will be different. Vecna has to die today, because tomorrow he goes after Max and that's not acceptable. He won't let that happen. He's going to stop the end of the world before it begins. And then he doesn't know what will happen.
Will life just go on? Will he still remember a future that never was?
If he doesn't remember, will his feelings for Eddie go with the memories? That thought hurts, but if it's true, the pain is only temporary.
Steve doesn't know how long he just sits in the passenger seat of his car, staring off into space, just knows it was long enough that Wayne and the Cali crew arrive. It's the slamming of the van doors that brings him back to himself.
He twists to look over his shoulder and the first person he sees is Mike, who is, Steve thinks, not glaring at him for the first time in his life. Jonathan is standing next to him. He and Mike have a short conversation before Mike walks across the street, coming to a stop about 5 feet from Steve.
"Why are you just sitting in the passenger seat of your car with the door open?" Mike asks, voice full of his usual judgement. "Are you buckled in?"
Steve looks down and frowns. Yes, he is still buckled in. He unbuckles and climbs from his car. Mike eyes Steve warily the whole time.
"He not out yet?" Wayne's voice carries across the way and Steve looks to the Munson's home. Wayne is on the front step, the door behind him open.
"Over here! We're at Max's," Steve throws a thumb over his shoulder and it brings Wayne quickly. He's not running, but it's damn close. "Just let yourself in."
Wayne speed walks passed. Steve stays and watches as Will and El round the van and join Jonathan. Will looks like he wants to barf. Steve's not surprised by that; he's still got some sort of connection to the Upside Down. It's El who looks different.
Her entire demeanor is unlike Steve's ever known her. For the first time ever, she just looks like a scared little girl.
She takes the first step towards Steve and her brothers follow.
She stops in front of Steve, cocking her head at him. Steve looks down at her and mimics the motion. Her hair is the longest he's seen it and her face has turned serious. "You're different."
Steve nods. "So are you."
El lifts a hand up and touches it to Steve's temple. She looks confused for having done it, about as confused as Steve feels, but her confusion turns into a surprised gasp and a trickle of blood slides out her nose.
"El," Mike rushes in, shoving at Steve to make him take a step back and break their contact.
"I am fine," El says, though she looks like whole new person. Her shoulders square and she stands taller. Her eyes look as haunted as Steve remembers.
"Oh shit. You're my El," Steve says, which gets all the boys to give him odd looks.
"I am sorry for what I have done to you," she says, as no-nonsense and militant as he remembers her. "I could not go back myself, but I could piggyback on someone."
"Why me?"
"You were in Hawkins, and I knew you would do what needed to be done."
"What is happening?" Jonathan asks.
El turns to Jonathan and says, "we are going to stop the end of the world."

more FNaF hcs because the tism™️ is telling me to info dump
sorry if some of these are the same as the last one I forget which ones I put before 🙁
-When Mike was chasing after the car he tripped scraped his knee broke his ankle and busted his kneecap and just gave up on life right then and there
-Mike smokes weed but he could take the tiniest tinniest hit of a bong and he’d cough up a lung so he just mainly sticks to blunts or bowls
-Abby has called 911 multiple times because she wanted to contact Vanessa but it obviously didn’t work.
-Vanessa used to dye her hair fun colors but she can’t anymore cuz of her job but she wears colorful extensions
-Abby’s therapist has tried so hard to hint at Mike that he should get an autism diagnosis because his sister has one and he still hasn’t picked up on it despite showing clear traits of autism
-When golden Freddy and Abby left the cab he just handed Cory a piece of paper with ‘one million dollars’ scribbled on it in green crayon. Cory was to scared to say no he just was like “yeah ok sure” and then cried
-Mike and Abby did not go to Aunt Janes funeral they instead went to Dave and Busters and played arcade games while their entire extended family blew up Mikes Nokia phone
-Aunt Jane was a “wine mom” and was in heavy denial of being an alcoholic
-Abby really likes bugs and puts them in her pockets but Mike is terrified of bugs so he freaks out whenever he sees them crawling on her or in her laundry
-Vanessa apologizes to people while arresting them
-The animatronics consider the cupcake to be their puppy and get confused when people think he’s a menace
-One time Doug ran into Mike and Abby at Walmart once and he just threw his thick ass lawyer wallet at then then ran away to have a panic attack. Mike and Abby bought a blow up pool that day

-Doug’s now a regular at Sparkys and is besties with Ness, he considers Ness “The son he never had”
-Bonnie kid (Jeremy) really liked Spider-Man
-Vanessa has a pitbull named Princess that she took home from an animal control call. (The dog is a fucking danger to society)

-Mike is the type of person to ask those weird questions while watching movies, like: “If their underwater how are they drinking soda?”
-Mike would stuff all his emotions and feelings down till he bursts and it usually results in him locking himself in his room while having a panic attack
-Max was also a weed dealer so Mikes out of a babysitter and a plug.
-Vanessa hates soda, loves tea tho
-Mike really likes the Care Bears and uses Abby as an excuse for liking it

-Abby gives her stuffed animals lore and hierarchies and Ness is always asking her about it when her and Mike go into the diner
-Vanessa Has a very minimalist style not because she likes it but because she's scared of getting attached to anything she calls home which at times worries her when she's with Mike, Abby and Ness. This results in her sitting in bed, chewing on her lip thinking of constant escape plans and emergency exits in case her father ever returns, if something bad happens, etc.
-Mike likes seeing Abby draw him and pretends not to notice when she stares and tries to get the color of his shirt just right (he buys clothing in colors she has to make it easier)

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
Part 7
Previous part here
…………………………………………………………………………….
Tumblr media
Y/N had to bite her cheek so hard that she almost drew blood, trying not to smile as she looked at Henry. His face was the sweetest, most pathetic combination of embarrassment and nervousness as he and Max stood on her welcome mat in the exact same situation they’d been in the previous week.
“I forgot my key again,” Henry had said after she’d opened the door and greeted them.
“And the phone?” Y/N asked him, still trying not to smile.
“Forgot that, too,” Henry replied with a sheepish expression.
Finally, she allowed herself to smile.
“That’s ok,” she said. “Come on inside.”
Henry and Max followed her through the front door, and she gestured towards the living room.
“You guys know where everything is,” she said.
After the boys had settled onto the couch, she spoke to Henry again.
“Has your dad still been having to work late, or will he be home around dinner time?”
“He’s still been working late,” Henry replied. “I don’t think the guy who works for him is there a lot anymore. He gave me some money this morning and told me I could order a pizza for me and Max because he probably wouldn’t be home until after dinner.”
Y/N inwardly winced. She guessed that Emmett probably wasn’t happy with himself that he’d had to do that, but if he was now mostly on his own at work, what choice could he have had? She herself also didn’t like the idea of the boys being alone for so long. She looked at Henry again as she spoke.
“I’ll make you guys some dinner later. As for the money, put it in the piggy bank – I won’t tell your dad if you won’t.” She winked at him before heading into the kitchen.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N then picked up her phone off the counter and pulled up Emmett’s number. She hadn’t talked to him since she’d been chatting with Stacy the other evening, but she’d had a hard time thinking of much else after everything Melissa had informed her of. Emmett’s number was still in her phone from when she’d called him the first time Henry and Max had come knocking, and she took another deep breath before sending him a quick text message.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Wiping his hands on a rag, Emmett reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone as he heard the chime of a message coming through. When he saw the number which he now recognized but hadn’t saved (it’s not like she’d be calling him again, he’d figured), he felt slightly nervous as he opened his messages and tapped on the one from her.
The boys are at my place – Henry forgot the key again. He said you’ll be late, so I’ll make them some dinner. Don’t rush, just do whatever you need to do. We’ll be here whenever you get home, just let yourself in the side door.
Dumbfounded was the only word that could describe Emmett at that moment. Just like the last time, their previous confrontation seemed to be completely forgotten, and Y/N’s attitude about the boys being with her was natural and breezy. It was almost impossible for Emmett to wrap his head around the fact that not only did Y/N so willingly welcome Max and Henry, but she did so even when she and him weren’t in the chummiest of places. When it came to the kids, she was completely selfless. The even crazier thing was that she didn’t seem to even be aware of how above and beyond she was being; it just came from her without her having any expectations.
At any other time, Emmett would have left work and gone and got them. Despite how willing she sounded, he would still have taken them off her hands and just called it an early night. But as of earlier today, he was now totally on his own, his employee having regretfully quit that morning. He was going to fall behind schedule, and he currently was in the middle of a repair that couldn’t be abandoned halfway through.
As much as he hated to do it, because he didn’t want the boys wearing out their welcome or Y/N thinking he didn’t care enough to come and get them, he had to take her up on her offer. He sent her a reply.
Sorry, I’m stuck in the middle of something. I’ll be there as soon as I can. Tell Henry he’s never leaving the house again unless that key is taped to his forehead.
Emmett read Y/N’s reply a moment later and couldn’t help but smile. He was suddenly glad that Henry had forgotten the key again.
Don’t apologize; it’s no problem. But you might want to use super glue instead.😉
————————————————
“Do you and my dad hate each other?”
Standing at the sink, Y/N nearly dropped the plate she was rinsing into the basin as she heard what Max had said. Immediately, she whipped around and looked at him as he sat at her kitchen island.
“What?!” she asked him, stunned.
Max’s expression was innocent and hesitant, but he repeated his question.
“Do you and my dad hate each other?”
“No, of course not!” Y/N replied as she wiped her hands with a towel while walking closer to him. “Why do you think that?”
Max shyly looked down from her eyes to the countertop.
“Well, you guys fight sometimes, and then you don’t talk to each other for a while,” he said. “And after Henry’s baseball game, you both looked angry after you were talking, and you didn’t say bye to us before you left,” he finished quietly.
Y/N’s heart was breaking as she looked at Max. She felt horrible that the little arguments between she and Emmett had not only been noticeable to Max, and likely Henry, too, but that it had caused Max to feel upset. Additionally, she had no idea what kind of things had happened between Emmett and his ex-wife, or what Max may have witnessed, but if fighting had been any part of that, she couldn’t stand the idea that her and Emmett’s pointless little squabbles had possibly triggered bad memories of that for the boys.
Y/N stepped even closer to Max and leaned against the island.
“Max, look at me,” she said.
He raised his head.
“Your dad and I do not hate each other,” she said.
Truthfully, for all she knew, Emmett did hate her after the way she’d treated him the other night, but Max didn’t need to know that. He needed to feel like his world was perfect. She tried to think of an explanation that would make sense to him and help him feel better.
“Sometimes, your dad and I don’t agree about some things, and so we have little arguments, but that doesn’t mean we hate each other.” She leaned on her forearms across the counter as she looked at him. “You and Henry fight sometimes, don’t you?”
“Yeah,” Max said, nodding his head.
“Ok, but you don’t hate each other, right? You still care about each other, and after a while, you’re not mad anymore, right?”
“Right,” Max said, and she could see the tiniest hint of a smile beginning to form on his face.
“Well, it’s the same way with me and your dad,” she said. “Just because we argue sometimes doesn’t mean that we hate each other. In fact, I think your dad is pretty great. Did you know that he came back over here the other night to fix something for me?”
“Yeah,” Max nodded.
“See? He wouldn’t have done that for me if we hated each other.”
“Sometimes, even when Henry’s mad at me, he still helps me with my homework,” Max said as his face brightened.
“See?” Y/N said again. “That’s exactly what I’m talking about.” She paused for a moment before finishing. “I want you to believe me, kiddo, we do not hate each other, ok?”
“Ok,” Max replied, his smile now returning to its full brightness.
Y/N smiled back at him.
“Good,” she said.
There was a brief pause as she reached across the island and pulled a plate towards them.
“So, you really think my dad is cool?” Max asked her.
“Well, yeah, but not as cool as you,” Y/N replied with another smile. “Now, how many cookies do you think we can eat before Henry comes in here and catches us?”

Emmett was frozen at the bottom of Y/N’s back stairs by the side door, having pulled it partially open before he’d overheard the conversation she was having with Max. He probably would have remained there, still processing the sweetly assuring way she was talking to him, but when he heard her walk across the floor and open the refrigerator, he pulled the door the rest of the way open before making himself known.
“We’re in here,” Y/N responded to him, and he entered the kitchen to see Max sitting at Y/N’s kitchen island with his hand poised over a plate of cookies.
“Hi, Dad!” Max said as he looked up.
“Hey, bud, you ready to go home?” Emmett asked him.
“I was gonna have a cookie,” he replied, a look of disappointment on his face.
Emmett watched as Y/N smiled at Max.
“You can take it with you, ok?” she said. “Go get your stuff and then you can grab it on your way out.”
“Ok,” Max said. He then hopped off the barstool and made his way past them.
“Bring your brother back with you,” Emmett said to him as Max went through the doorway to the living room.
After Max had left, Emmett met Y/N’s eyes.
“I don’t know how to thank you,” he said to her. “I’m so sorry that this happened, but it won’t happen again.”
Y/N shook her head.
“Don’t apologize,” she said. “It’s my pleasure. I told you, they’re angels.”
“I don’t know how to thank you,” he said again.
“You already did, in the form of a functioning furnace,” she smiled.
Emmett smiled back, but then Y/N’s face became serious.
“Speaking of which, I want to apologize,” she said. “I’m sorry for how I spoke to you the other night. You were doing me a favor and I shouldn’t have said what I did. I overreacted.”
Emmett shook his head. He would have forgiven her regardless, but the knowledge of what Stacy had shared with him made it all the easier.
“No, I should apologize,” he said. “I’m sorry for giving you a hard time; I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”
Relieved that he accepted her apology, Y/N shook her head again and was about to say something else when Max and Henry came plodding into the kitchen.
“You better not have left a mess in there,” Emmett said to them as he nodded towards where they’d come from.
“We didn’t,” Henry replied. Then he turned around to face Y/N. “Thanks a lot, Y/N. I’m sorry I forgot again.”
“That’s ok, honey,” Y/N responded as she smiled at him. “I like having you here.”
Henry smiled.
“Bye,” he said, and he passed Emmett and headed for the door, Max on his heels as he also piped a thank you and goodbye to her.
“I’ll be right there,” Emmett said to them, and he tossed Henry his keys as they went through the door. Y/N looked at him as he turned back to her.
“Is everything ok at work?” she asked him. “Henry said something about your guy not being there as often as he used to be, or something like that.”
Emmett sighed.
“He quit this morning,” he said. “His mom is sick and he needs to take care of her, so as of today it’s just me.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Y/N replied with a frown. “Are you still gonna be able to do what you need to do?”
“I don’t know, I haven’t even really been able to think about it yet.” Emmett reached up and ran a hand over the back of his neck before continuing. “I’m gonna have to continue staying late for a while and figure out some other stuff with the boys’ schedules.”
Y/N was silent for a moment. She hated the thought of the boys having to be alone so much, and she could only imagine the stress that this was going to put on Emmett. After a beat, she spoke.
“You know, they can keep coming here if you want. If they want.” She looked at him and continued. “I’m home by 3 each day, so they can just come here when camp’s over. Or they can still go home, but then I can check in on them. I mean, I know Henry’s old enough that they can be on their own, but I can be around just in case, and I can make them dinner any night that you have to stay especially late.”
Emmett looked at her, shocked by her offer and not knowing what to say.
“I can’t ask you to do that,” he finally replied. It was too generous and too much of a commitment on her part.
“You’re not asking; I’m offering,” she said. “I’m around anyway, so I can just be available for them if they need anything or want to hang out here. And this way, if Henry forgets the key from time to time, they know they can just come here and not feel bad about asking.”
Emmett still didn’t know what to say, but she continued then.
“But my shift in the ER starts at 6:00 a.m., so you just have to promise me you’ll always be home by 9:00 p.m. at the latest – that’s my bedtime,” she smiled.
Emmett smiled back, thinking how adorable she looked, but he shook his head again.
“I can’t ask you to do that,” he repeated.
“And you didn’t,” she replied gently.
After holding her gaze for another moment, he spoke.
“I’ll mention it to the boys,” he said.
“Good,” Y/N smiled. “Henry will be happy to hear it, I’m sure. He wasn’t too keen on the super glue idea.”
They both laughed, and then Emmett thanked her again before heading for the door, where he then found himself wanting to linger a moment longer.
“Oh, by the way,” he said, turning to face her a final time before he went through the door. “Just for the record, Max is not cooler than me.”
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat as Emmett winked at her and she realized he’d heard her conversation with Max. But before she could say anything, he gave her a final smile and walked down her kitchen steps, heading outside and closing her door behind him.

sorry for saying i would post kitty charles blurbs and then didn't actually end up posting kitty charles blurbs. here's like 700 words of a scene that i ended up cutting in the meantime. it's not in the fic anymore but i think it's cute so
“I heard you and Charles had an elevator incident.”
Max stiffens. He looks around the room. The other drivers haven’t arrived to the briefing just quite yet. Carlos walked in alone. He clears his throat. “Who told you that?”
Carlos gives him a weird look, taking the seat beside Max, in the last row of the room. “Charles did…?”
Max blinks. “Oh,” he says, biting his lip. That would make sense. “Yeah, in the hotel.”
As more drivers start to populate the room—George and Lewis, then Kevin and Nico—all taking seats in the middle—Carlos asks, “Did anything happen?”
Max swallows. “Did Charles tell you anything happened?”
“He would not tell me anything, only that you were stuck in the lift for half an hour,” Carlos responds. “I thought you might say more.”
Max shrugs. “Nothing really happened. We of course had to wait to be rescued, but it was fine.”
Carlos narrows his eyes. “That is all that happened?” he asks, suspicious.
“That is all that happened,” Max answers, frowning. “Why?”
Carlos shrugs. “I would just think that, you know, because you are—like that about him, recently, that something might have happened.”
“I am not like anything about him, lately,” Max mumbles, crossing his arms over his chest, sinking into his plastic chair. Carlos doesn’t press the topic, so Max pulls out his phone to check his iRacing server. He busies himself with that for a few minutes as the drivers finish arriving, remembering why he tries to arrive at these as on-time as possible.
A minute before the meeting begins, Max hears the last two drivers arrive, speaking in loud and rapid French.
There aren’t that many seats left—in Max’s row, there remains only a seat on his left, between him and Alex—but there are a couple of side-by-side seats unoccupied in the middle of the room.
Charles and Pierre greet Carlos. After that, Pierre keeps walking to find one of the middle seats, only for Charles to start squeezing into Max and Carlos’ row.
He takes the seat next to Max, his tail swishing.
Finally realizing he’s been left alone, Pierre turns around, a confused, betrayed look on his face. Max has to suppress his urge to snort. Carlos is looking at them, curiously.
Aware of the eyes, Max puts his phone down, pockets it, turns to Charles, then says, “I think I am going to say something about the barrier after turn one, in Canada.”
Charles tilts his head to the side, ears upright. “Did you have trouble with it?”
“No, but I liked the run-off, and I don’t think that there was much advantage to gain from it. Like,” he goes on, curling one hand to imitate the corner, using the other to mimic his car, “if you cut the corner, you lose time braking, so when you rejoin the track, you will have trouble gaining speed again. I am not sure why they thought it was necessary to change.”
Charles hums. “I don’t know. I think it was a good change.” He pauses, then his shoulders shake with a small giggle. He admits, “I think I used that corner to save time in the past. I think that the turn seven wall is a problem, though. I had some trouble with it during the race.”
“Really? You didn’t seem to lose time there. I saw you losing time going into sector two.”
“Ah, yeah. The car did not seem to like seventh gear there. How did you deal with that?”
“I—”
“Leclerc. Verstappen. We’ll be starting now, unless either of you want to lead the meeting?” Niels says into the microphone, and a couple of the other drivers laugh. Max hadn’t even realized that the room had gone silent.
Adorably, Charles’ ears wiggle, his tail bristles, and he turns to face the front of the room, pouting.
Max doesn’t end up saying anything about the turn one barrier. There are too many other drivers with grid penalty grievances that he can’t get a single word in.
It is rather boring.
Charles seems to agree as well. As Fernando is complaining about something, he lets out a cute yawn, blinking slowly. He is sleepier, Max remembers from the lift.
Heart stuttering, Max raises a hand, brings it up to Charles’ head. Gently, he scratches the base of one of Charles’ ears. Charles lets out a soft, content purr, tilting his head toward Max’s hand, pleased. Max smiles when Charles rests his head on his shoulder, letting his eyes fall shut—shivers when Charles’ tail curls around his back.

5. What's a fic idea you've had that you will never write? for the ask game? Thanks!
oooh i've had so many but i think The One That Got Away is the lestappen roommates/engineers au that was going to be enemies to friend to one night stant to enemies to friends to lovers over the span of like a ten year period.
(below the cut because this got LONG)
BASICALLY non driver au. charles and max are both studying engineering both with the ambition to become engineers for A formula one team. for charles it Has To Be ferrari. max will take whatever team will have him (there's an ongoing joke that his Ultimate Dream is to work for Haas because they gave him a free cap at some kind of industry event and he's been wearing that ever since. mostly out of convenience)
charles and max have a bit of a meet ugly on their first day and become Instant Enemies and then very shortly after also roommates because charles needed a space and a friend of a friend (lando) offered and so now he's sharing an appartment with lando and max. they DO NOT get along for the first few months, but then utlimately discover they're much better off working together instead of against each other and through shared study sessions and late nights actually become friends.
and by friends i mean BESTIES. these dudes spend the rest of their college days bascially living in each other pockets doing a very weird will they wont they
BUT THEN year four rolls around and max gets an internship at red bull and moves to milton keynes for the year. they have a stupid one night stand right before he leaves because they’re both emotional and stuff about having to say goodbye but the next morning max nearly oversleeps for his flight and so they don’t have time to talk about it. charles thinks maybe he should wait until max gets back because this feels too much of an Important Conversation to do over the phone, and so they Don’t Talk About It. which makes max think charles doesn’t want him, something he is very clearly upset about, and then to drown his sorrows he’s starts dating daniel who also works at red bull and is nice and sweet and like. actually wants him at least.
charles hears about it and is obviously upset because WOW max moved on fast. so when max gets back they get into a MASSIVE fight about it that doesn’t really get resolved. eventually max leaves and charles gets a job offer for ferrari and that’s the end of that
FAST FORWARD THREE YEARS for the second part of the fic which entirely takes place in the f1 paddock.
basically charles has been holding some kind of factory position at ferrari this whole time while max actually managed to get a job in the red bull garage as one of the youngest engineers ever. BUT THEN charles gets a job offer. for race engineer.
at red bull.
anyway its this whole thing of being able to do the one thing he really wants to do but not for the team he really wants to do it for plus theres a chance he runs into max and GOD does he really want that???
the answer is yes. yes he does.
and Max and him. Do NOT get along. they fight constantly and its showing in the way the car dnfs in both of the first races. eventually after the third race Christian summons them into his office and tells them to get their fucking shit together or else. so they talk and decide on a truce
anyway after that they’re sort of friendly now and they fall back into that easy rhythm they used to have back when they were roommates
and like. they’re a literal DREAM TEAM. the car is a fucking ROCKETSHIP in their hands. they actually make newey cry happy tears at some point etc etc.
charles is happy and its fine and then they win the constructors championship breaking mercedes winning streak and they’re celebrating and max falls into his arms and buries his face in charles’s neck and oh no.
oh no
turns out he’s not over that then.
but thats the end of the season and nothing really happens and then when the new season rolls around they pine for a while like they used to back in college lmao
and then max gets a job offer with another team
Charles hears about it through the grape vine, goes to confront him about it and he’s like “don’t you DARE leave me again we JUST found each other again” doing this whole speech basically yelling at max and max just. kisses him.
but then that upsets charles even MORE because he’s like “fuck YOU I cant do another goodbye fuck that’s not. NO. fuck you” and max is like “this is not a goodbye fuck, because I’m not leaving.”
and then charles frowns like “why not. It’s a good job offer”
“charles you’re giving me fucking WHIPLASH here do you want me to leave or not”
“I want you to tell me WHY”
“because I’m in love with you you idiot!!!!!!”
anyway they kiss about it its all very cute The End
so yeah. there's a 4k planning doc for this. there's a title. there's a PLAYLIST. yet i'm like 99% sure it will never get written. truly The One That Got Away
