Prompt 234
More of the Tiamat Au? More of the Tiamat Au!
Sharing a body was strange. Ten limbs split between the nine of them- thirteen if one counted the tails and seventeen if one counted the fact that their cloak… skirt… whatever could mimic the wings of their other form.
One which they would change back to after a few moments- there was much less stumbling when it was all fours. Not to mention that if not for the tails they’d have easily toppled over with how many arms they had making them slightly top heavy. Okay more than slightly, it was taking a bit to adjust.
Honestly the fields of wheat and other crops did nothing to hide them with how tall even this body was, but it was still better than nothing, and they were using the fact it was the middle of nowhere to their shared advantage.
At least the humanoid- not human, even now their shared power thrummed through the air, leaking from them- form was smaller than their true draconic one. Well, perhaps they shouldn’t call it their true form, when they were once all human, halfa and liminal alike, but they’d long since stopped being such. So perhaps it was in fact true to call the form they had become as their normal state now.
Actually, could they even separate now? Or had their power melded together so much that it was impossible now, and an attempt would end them? It would at the very least crack their core-
“What the fuck.”
Their head lurched, a little too far if the jolt of pain was anything before it melted away. They were all too used to moving their own necks separately. But all of them agreed that discovery could not happen-
Oh.
It was a child. A preteen with red-orange hair, blue-green eyes, expensive clothing, and most damming of all, large swaths of bruising across his arms. Bruising that did not come from usual play, and looked far too much like hand prints for any of their comfort.
Someone had very much not been taking care of this child. And that really made them quite angry.

The Amity Parkers
Inspired by This Post, which is long, read the many reblogs and tags and comments, it’s fun!
Tim was Ninety Percent Sure that he was going absolutely insane, granted it was a long time coming. Danny Fenton, his Chemistry teacher and Dash Baxter, his Phys Ed teacher? That was two people from the same practically non-existent town in Illinois, but add onto that the fact that even MORE people kept showing up in Gotham from sleepy little Amity Park and proceeded to either A:Thrive or B:Thrive but with the Energy of a Kryptonian having nonstop contact highs.
After his two teachers, or more accuratly before, there had been Jazz Fenton, a new Psychiatrist working in Gotham and making rather noticeable strides in things. Then arrived her brother and Baxter, who had applied roughly at the same time in the aftermath of a Rogue attack on the cities water treatment plant, and the floodgates seemed to less open more fly off the hinges as though breaching charges had been used.
Now there were MORE people here, there was Tucker Foley, working at Wayne Enterprises as a coder and a damn terrifying one to boot, Sam Manson, an activist who ended up throwing Tim during one of his Red Robin patrols where he’d come across her “Protest Site” which had been a small park in The Narrows. Wes Weston, a cop, had been giving his coworkers and his Chem teacher NOTHING but grief, insisting that Fenton was doing “Something” wrong but never quite being able to get things to stick, upon further digging this had been a long running one sided rivalry. There was also a SECOND Psychiatrist, Paulina Sanchez, at Gotham Academy who was also from Amity Park, and her files were airtight, as Damian’s most recent hacking attempt and Tim’s own follow up had failed to breach her firewalls.
So, here Tim was, staring at Danielle “Dani/Ellie” Masters, Dr. Fenton’s CLONE and the Academies newest but also most feral teacher as she boxed the Joker hard enough for an audible crack to be heard from their classroom from where she was fighting the demented clown on the field. Baxter was still running his class as normal, though a bit further away, and Dr. Fenton was still teaching their class, while Tim was trying to get Extra Credit and vengeance on the Doctor through today’s extra credit task, making a tracker that could track Doctor Fenton for Twenty Four Hours.
Why was he seeking vengeance you ask? Well given the fact that Jason brought Doctor Fenton to Family Dinner last week [with Alfred’s blessing] and had come in with the most gremlin-esque energy he’d seen from a Non-Rogue. Now don’t get Tim wrong, he likes Doctor Fenton, he may be demented as all get out but he was regularly making counters to drugs and toxins that seemed to just inhabit Gotham. BUT! Doctor Fenton and Jason had been so sickeningly cutes-y with each other at Dinner, like a couple of Birds of Paradise trying to one up each other.
Then of course was the “Story Time” where the two had teamed up to tell embarrassing stories, though Danny held back, a touch. It didn’t absolve him, especially with how he egged on Jason, which very much didn’t help the whole “I know you’re the Bats” situation. AND THEN! There was the fact that a majority of the Amity Parkers KNEW that they were the Bats, It was as though they had gone through this whole song and dance before, which given prior statements of Doctor Fenton having “Hung up the Cape” seemed to imply he used to be a hero in Amity Park, where your average joe could one on one a rank and file leaguer or at least give them a rough time.
The fact that a semester of training from Baxter and Fenton alone had made Tim’s year group capable of facing off with the JL  was a testament to that.
Speaking of which, some Junior Leaguers were coming to Gotham, if only for a place where they were not as “Strange”. Some of those moves may have been encouraged with the recent custody battle between Luthor against Vlad and Danielle Masters regarding Connor, who was a Copyrighted clone as it turns out, which had resulted  in Connor being made a ward of Danielle Masters, who had chewed Superman out HARD along with her Original, Doctor Danny Fenton himself.
Suffice to say, Clark did NOT get majority of Custody, and only got every third weekend, which was terrifying in Tim’s opinion that this small town mayor who was as wealthy as Luthor, had turned up, legally thrashed Luthor, and then given custody over to his daughter, thrashed SUPERMAN with KRYPTONIAN LAWS, and then gone back to Amity Park Illinois to resume his Mayor-ship there. The fact the town was essentially a self governing and self sufficient region  meant that the League was now VERY AWARE of it, and the fact that the League of Assassins had tried and FAILED multiple times to infiltrate the town, with more people going rogue than staying loyal, with only one out of nearly two hundred assassins returning to Nanda Parabat, critically wounded and very much insane.
In Tim’s opinion? Amity Park raised people similar too but far more prepared than Gothamites, for while Gothamites may have the Fight in their bones, Amity Parkers seem ready to back it up with experience, training, and life experience.
But then again, Mr. Lancer had been an immigrant to Amity Park, and he was the blueprint of sorts for all of his students who had gone into teaching, much the same for how Batman was the Blueprint for all the other Bats.

DCxDP Idea - Tucker x Tim Soulmate AU:
Now on AO3
So the Justice League believes the Fentons and the GIW. Not completely, but enough. That’s the bad news. The worse news is that they have Danny, and are apparently planning to use him in some kind of spell to banish all the ghosts from the living plane. Which, okay, sure, not the worst idea, except that trying to banish a Liminal is a great way to kill them instead, and guess what everyone in Amity Park is? Not to mention what powering such a ritual could do to Danny.
Tucker is not having a panic attack. He might have one later, but right now he has a job to do.
So the thing about the Justice League is that they’re powerful and together they cover each other’s weaknesses, but individually they are, if not manageable, then at least survivable. They can’t take on the entire league, but Ghosts and their ilk have fangs for a reason, and every predator knows how to divide and conquer.
Technus and Skulker are using Lex Luthor’s tech to deal with the Supers. Jazz has got emotional manipulation and FrightKnight’s sword to take down the Flashes. Desiree agreed to start a mage’s duel with the Justice League Dark. Sam, Ember, Johnny, and Kitty hopefully have the watchtower in hand, with Walker playing backup to get Danny free.
Tucker has two jobs. One, work with Technus to take down the Justice League communications without making it look like anything is up. Two, for the love of the Ancients, do not let the Bats realize something is wrong.
And you know what? He’s got this. Duul Aman was the most feared sorcerer of his time. Tucker isn’t him, not really, but he’s no slouch in the magic department. Egyptian magic, the way Duul Aman knew it, was almost like code. Relearning it was as easy as breathing, but the real reason Tucker’s job is to deal with the bats is because he took it further than his last life ever could. Sure, he’s a dab hand at illusions, his curses are almost as nasty as Sam’s, and instant sandstorms are never not useful, but where he really thrives is with tech. Afterall, if ectoplasm can be combined with computers, why can’t magic?
Tucker is the world's first technomage and he’s goddamn proud of it.
It’s his saving grace now. Infiltrating Oracle’s system took weeks, and he still wasn’t able to look at or do anything important, but it was enough of an opening for his magic. He wormed his illusion through every single piece of bat-tech he could reach, whispering in their ear, Gotham needs you. The Justice League is fine. Gotham is where the problems are.
Weeks of work and sleepless nights, and he still doubts he’ll be able to keep them from noticing anything for more than a few hours. Luckily, by that time Danny will be free and Tucker will be long gone from Gotham.
This confidence lasts until he brushes hands with another guy in the cafe. He can feel the bond snap into place, a soulmark crawling across his body. Tim Drake stares at him, eyes wide but sharp.
Tim Drake.
Red Robin.
Shit.
Time to see whether fighting ghosts extends to fighting humans, because he is not letting this asshole mess up Danny’s rescue.
+++
The first thing Tim notices when he meets his soulmate is the rage in the man’s eyes.
They’re really pretty eyes. A bright, glowing gold, lined in kohl. Almost certainly a sign of magic.
They look at him like the man wants to turn him inside out and burn the remains. Tim’s a little offended, beneath the shock and awe.
“Fuck,” the man hisses. Tim’s offense is starting to supersede his surprise. He’s a catch, thank you very much.
He says as much. The man laughs, and it’s almost friendly.  The cafe is empty. The people of Gotham have good instincts, and there’s something in the air around this man that puts Tim’s hackles up.
“You know, I think that’d be more believable if you hadn’t started this.”
Tim’s brow wrinkled. He felt like he’d remember starting something with his soulmate though? What was he supposed to have started, anyway? Saying ‘this’ wasn’t very specific.
He rolled and dodged to avoid the sudden lash of golden sand. Ah. A fight. He could do that. Figure out why his soulmate was angry later, defeat him now.
He reached up to call for backup and only got static.
Shit.
He was on his own. Time to show this bastard why underestimating a bat was a bad idea.

Why does this work so well?!
People of the Danny Phantom x DC Universe/anything Batman fandom!
Please explain to me HOW DO THESE TWO DIFFERENT FANDOMS WORK SO WELL TOGETHER?
These are two completely separate superhero properties. Sure superheroes properties in general can blend pretty well together, but I have not seen a crossover where they have blended as well as the dpxdc crossover fandom.
I don't really see as many Danny Phantom crossover fics with the Marvel Universe. And vice vera, I don't see any of the DC universe heroes really crossing over with any other superhero fandoms (besides Marvel) as well as they crossover with Danny Phantom. The only other fandom that is popular being crossed over to the DC universe is the Miraculous Ladybug fandom, and that's it's own analysis.
But Danny Phantom is a property from the early 2000s (it first aired in 2004, this show is 20 years old!) What are the chances, that these two go so well together? How did it even start?
I didn't even know this was a thing, I happened upon it when I happened upon a fic. (Bus to Nowhere, really well written story)
And this just opened up a ton of new things that the DPx DC fandom made. Especially batman!
Danny being a chaos gremlin across all of the DC universe.
Ectoplasm=Lazarus Water
Jason Todd is liminal
Lady Gotham! (a completely new character created by the crossover fandom!)
Danny being adoption bait for the serial adopter that is Bruce!
Why does it work so well?
Genuinely curious here, like why don't other fandoms mesh well as this one? And how does this crossover have such awesome fics and hilarious stories?
If I were to compare it to any other fandom that could potentially work with the DC universe, like Transformers or Ben 10. (there's aliens and supervillains in those shows, they could definitely crossover in the DC universe) But I don't really see crossover fics with them. Is it the fandom? fanbase just not interested? the ideas just don't mesh well?
But for DPxDC, the ideas are abundant! Everytime I come to tumblr, I see a new prompt or fic idea for the fandom and immediately just go "that's an amazing idea!"
Not to mention the ship names!
They're adorable !
Dead Tired/ Brain Dead= Tim x Danny
Anger Management= Jazz x Jason
Dead on Main/ Double Dead= Danny x Jason
Super Dead= Jon x Danny
Multi-level Marketing= Vlad x Lex Luthor (I did not know that I even had a pairing name!)
Dead Silent= Cass x Danny
Ghost Lights= Duke x Danny
Look at those beautiful names! And that's just a couple of them! Somebody please explain to me. How did this even happen?! How did this all start?! Is this like a lightning in a bottle situation? Where it's not likely we'll see a crossover that happens like this anytime soon?

3 HC/AU Prompt Thingy (5)
1). Liminal Superman
2). Freakshow's staff works on Liminals
3). Liminal Luthor
Going the Kryptonite = Ectoplasm route for this one. Lex is constantly dealing with this stuff so it's no wonder he gets enough exposure to become liminal. Meanwhile Supes is getting poisoned by the stuff pretty often, once again leading to a natural exposure. Maybe the more liminal he becomes, the more resistant to kryptonite he gets too? Regardless, the two are pretty decently liminal by the time Freakshow comes to town. Which makes it very easy for them to fall under his control. For Clark it was during a visit to the circus to write a news article. While for Lex, he got hypnotized during a publicity stunt visit (he was showing the people how he enjoyed the circus just like the common man)
The end result? Freakshow has a mind controlled Superman stealing things for him. Except he doesn't know it's Superman since he was hypnotized as Clark Kent. Though he does find it strange how this regular human can fly and rip apart steel with his bare hands. The guy must be super liminal he guesses. Freakshow also has a wealthy billionaire funding him now too since he can't have Lex Luthor outright stealing for him. That would draw too much attention.
Naturally Danny is freaking out as Freakshow is now involving civilians in his little stunt. He is desperately trying to put a stop to this before this pops up on the Justice League's radar which will inevitably lead back to Amity Park. Meanwhile Batman and Wonder Woman are investigating just what in the world happened to their dear friend Superman.
Surely these two separate fronts won't meet for an unlikely team up ;)

love totem | extended
Finale rewrite. The Final Battle. The Denouement. A Luthor and a Super.
-----
The rose tattoo lost its final petal. It dissipated, burned gold across Esme’s neck for a fractal of a second. Disappeared.
Lex raged.
Fill your heart with love. Only then will love be given to you.
The totem was an erudite, elusive thing. Dangerous and fickle, trickier than the other totems, attracted to feeling. It sought the places where love hid and burned, where the fire of it was strongest. Familial love. Romantic love. Protective love. Painful, terrifying, emboldening, desperate, any form of it robust enough to ground and justify the totem’s power.
When the totem ripped itself from Esme, driven off by Lex and Nyxly’s underserved attempts to possess it, it hovered in its transitional form, scanning the universes’ liminal spaces, seeking a new host.
-----
“Lena - “
“What? Kara I’m trying -”
“LENA!”
Kara crossed the tower in five strides, past Alex, J’onn, Kelly, Brainy, and Nia, past Winn and James who had just arrived to help them -- and her heart raced as she watched the tattoo materialize, sprout from the back of Lena’s neck. It grew like a super-fertilized vine across her shoulders; it weaved down her arms, around her wrists, blooming and stretching its intricate pattern to her fingertips. Where clothing covered Lena’s skin, the tattoo burned gold and strong beneath it, remaining visible. The totem hummed contentedly in it new home. Thick rose buds, rich leaves. Thorns everywhere. The gold settled into a deep, dark red.
Breathless, Kara whispered: “Lena...”
The red Luthor stepped away from her book of spells and equipment scattered across the table. She stared at her shaking hands.
Across the room, Alex snapped out of the general consternation and disbelief first. Thunder was beginning to growl in the distance. The air outside the open balcony door grew darker, thicker.
“We need - we need to get Esme,” Alex swallowed. Then more desperately: “We need to get Esme, Kara, now. Now, Kara! She’s not useful to them anymore, they’ll kill her! We need to exchange the totems -”
“We have to go,” Kelly agreed.
“Kara!”
“Alright!”
Kara tore her eyes from Lena’s arms. She didn’t understand why she was suddenly tearing up, on the verge of weeping, why she felt the swell of something dangerous underneath her skin, but she was exhausted and terrified and prepared to give into it.
“Alright,” Kara repeated. “Alright. Let’s go.”
In the rush of departure, Lena fought to get a grip on the magic that had ruptured inside her. The totem was mixing with it, emboldening it. Too much. Too strong. Fire. As if everything she touched would turn to gold.
-----
“It’s a trap!”
The explosions came before any of them could take three steps backwards. The earth dropped out from under them. In the same breath, Lex, now in possession of six totems, shot Kara with a beam of Kryptonite so concentrated and intense that she screamed, back arched, flung into the air, paralyzed.
The world was ending.
And as Kara screamed, as she crashed into the ground, she knew that she couldn’t stop the bridge from breaking.
She couldn’t stop it from falling. She couldn’t save them. Her family. The world. She wasn’t strong enough. She was dying. They would all die because of her weakness.
At the edge of the bridge, provoked by the sight of Kara’s limp body, of Alex and Kelly gripping a crying Esme, of Alex screaming for Kara, and J’onn, Winn, and James knocked unconscious, Lillian bleeding on the ground, and Nia and Brainy staggering to their feet, and the fires raging all around them, Lena felt another surge inside her. Magic and pain.
The bridge snapped and broke apart. Lena opened her palms and stopped it.
She held it in place.
Lena felt the weight of the rocks in her bones, the unsteady chunks weighing on her, tugging at her power like a heavy marionette. Lena struggled with the unfamiliar burden. She felt it tilting, slipping -- but she held it and kept the bridge up for the interminable seconds necessary to let J’onn, Winn, and James recover; for the others to combine their powers and take over the bridge’s support and reconstruction, to launch a counter-attack.
Kara still lay recumbent in the center of the bridge.
Lex was still shooting her dying body with Kryptonite.
“Lena!”
Lena whirled around. With Esme in her arms, Alex was running towards her. She set the girl down--
“Will you stay with her--”
“No,” Lena rasped. She shook her head, grabbed Alex’s arm. “No, Alex, you stay.”
“Lena, please, I have to--”
“Stay with your daughter.”
Alex watched helplessly as Lena turned and moved across the still-unsteady bridge that the Superfriends were fixing, towards Kara’s body. Alex took a deep breath in. Lena was right. Kneeling on the ground and gripping Esme to her chest, Alex shot electrical beams out of the Hand of the Soldier, directly at Lex, an attempt to break the protective shield that Nyxly had thrown up around them both.
“Esme?” Alex whispered evenly enough against her daughter’s hair. “Can you feel Aunt Kara’s powers?”
Esme seemed to struggle a little, twisting against Alex’s body and shutting her eyes tightly to block the noise and chaos around them.
“I can feel them,” she murmured. “But Aunt Kara can’t. She can’t use her powers, Mommy, she’s--”
“I know.”
“She’s dying.”
Alex choked back a sob and intensified the electricity she was sending towards Nyxly’s shield by a thousand. Rage and fear. Fear and rage.
“Well, If you can feel her invulnerability,” Alex swallowed, then clarified, “the way that almost nothing can hurt her, then do you think you could try to mimic it?”
Esme murmured another, “She’s...dying,” and Alex broke, sobbed, bit her lip to keep from crying.
She gripped her daughter tighter.
“Please, would you try? I know you can do it, Esme. I know you can. You’re so strong. Please. Please.”
-----
Lex Luthor regarded his sister with venom.
She had stepped forward, in front of Supergirl’s body, blocked her from the Kryponite beam. It was powerful enough to kill Lena, even if she was human. And she knew that. But if his brilliant little sister wanted death, Lex Luthor wouldn’t be the one to deny her. He relished the rich thrill of power, the promise of more, and directed the green beam at Lena's heart.
Then his eyes narrowed.
His sister was raising her hands, murmuring some incoherent absurdity, but apart from that -- there were strange, dark red markings on her skin --  floral, weaving -- they glowed, then burned, and strengthened --
“The totem!” Lex snarled, just as something punctured his chest.
Though their protective shield remained in place, both he a Nyxly froze, immobilized by some fiery, suffocating thing. The Kryptonite beam died.
“You -- you have the totem -- ” Lex screeched. “You -- how could it pick you -- what joke --”
Lena's tears streamed into her mouth as she kept Lex and Nyxly trapped in place with a spell she barely knew. Nyxly was fighting it. Hard. She would break free soon, she would escape, Lena could feel it in the pushback, the pulsing, furious pressure Nyxly was funneling towards her.
But something had changed in Nyxly; she only wanted escape. Lex wanted destruction.
Lena raised her chin.
“I have hated you,” she breathed. Harsh and dark. “I have hated you, Lex, and I know who you are.”
Lena felt something break inside her, rip through her chest. A red glow wrapped itself around her.
“And you will never win.”
“You killed me and even then you couldn’t beat me! You -- pathetic -- you think you can do it this time? You think you could ever beat me? You think you could --”
The totem was an erudite, elusive thing. Petulant. Precocious. Bad-tempered. Willful. It didn’t want to leave. It had gotten a very good grip, had nestled itself very tightly into this place where years of feeling lay buried, where suppressed power was just burgeoning, just beginning to grow, ripen, sprout, bloom. It liked it here. The potency was intoxicating. The potential.
The almost.
The totem hummed a fierce, reluctant goodbye and ripped itself away.
Darkness. The liminal spaces where the universes ended and began.
Then back again.
The totem materialized in the air above the bridge where rain was beginning to fall, and called to its brothers.
“ -- you worthless, traitorous --”
In synchrony, the six remaining totems burst from their case beside Lex and rose into the air, throwing color against the dangerously turbulent sky.
“-- useless -- you -- what -- what have you done -- what are you doing!”
The fully-formed AllStone hovered above them.
There is Courage, a voice boomed through the air, shaking everyone into stillness. Humanity. Hope. There are Dreams, and Truth, Destiny, and Love.
The disembodied voice paused.
But the greatest of these, is Love.
Lena lowered herself to the ground, fighting for breath in the aftermath of the totem’s departure. It didn’t feel like it had departed. Everything still burned inside her, even as rain drenched her clothes and hair. The tattoo still marked her skin. Lena’s lungs constricted, the swell of the magic tripled, amplified to a terrifying degree, and she knew, she knew that it was too much for her. Like fire. Like the sun. Lena wasn’t strong enough for it. She wouldn’t bear it. Self-awareness urged her, warned her that she was becoming danger to herself, that this power had to be directed elsewhere, or it would kill her, it would kill her -- the dark red of the tattoo burned, hummed, turned gold. Gold. Like the sun. Like the sun --
Behind Lena, Kara’s body lay limp on the ground. Limp and blue. She had stopped breathing.
Lena reached back blindly and pressed a palm into Kara’s chest. Warmth streamed furiously through her fingers.
The power Lena held over Lex and Nyxly surged; it snapped their protective shield. Alex’s electrical beam hit Lex and he fell. J’onn, Nia, Brainy, Winn, Kelly, and James all swarmed in to take over the battle.
Lena bent over Kara and pressed both palms to her chest, shielding her from the rain.
Light and energy raged through her.
“Live.”
Warmth.
“Please.”
Kara’s eyes snapped open.
Fire.
She gasped for breath.
The sun.
“Lena --”
-----
The AllStone hummed a little as it spun through the air and slid itself into Alex’s hand. Esme touched the glimmering surface of it. Sparks followed her fingertips. They remembered her.
“Wow,” she whispered.
In the center of the reformed bridge, halfway between Alex and Esme on one end and Lex and Nyxly on the other -- Lex, who was laughing maniacally, bitterly, opening the portal to the Phantom Zone even as Kelly had him pressed him against the ground by the throat, even as he bled from the wound Alex’s electrical current had seared into his side-- and Nyxly, who was fighting for herself -- and the army that Lex had summoned,  Red Tornado, Overgirl -- in the very middle of it, Kara was stirring.
Alex watched her sit up. Then rise to her knees, her feet, with Lena’s help, gold veins, gold rivers still surging into her body wherever the golden Luthor gripped her, her hands, her arms, her shoulders.
Kara kept rising. She rose into the air. Her powers were back.
“Supergirl!” Alex yelled.
She threw the AllStone. Kara caught it.
Demons poured out of the portal to the Phantom Zone like black water. They slipped out and spread, hovering vulturously in small groups about the bridge; but in great droves they also abandoned the scene, already halfway to National City, already rushing towards the nearest towns and villages, to populated areas where they could prey on fear.
The rain came down harder, heavier. Dark, frightening rain.
-----
Kara rocketed upwards.
Thunder, lightning, darkness, reality itself tightened and flashed around her. Convulsed as she pushed her limits. Harder. Harder! She gripped the AllStone and it sparked fire under her fingertips.
As if it recognized her.
Almost.
Tearing through the sky, sensing her attachment to Nyxly break, sensing the imp flee this universe, different, changed, Kara encircled the army of spreading demons. Faster! Faster! She became a ring. She held the demons where they were, at first, contained and suspended like dark ghosts. Then they began to bend.
They bent to her will.
Kara’s encircling pressure forced them inwards; it grew smaller, tighter, unbearable in its insistent heat, until the demons were throwing themselves back through the portal to the Phantom Zone.
Kara dropped to the ground at the edge of the bridge and stood over Lex Luthor. She squinted at him through the rain.
The battle was finished.
Lex staggered to his feat. There in his eyes was fear, but also that invariable arrogance, that interminable hatred.
The last of the demons circled in.
“Goodbye, Lex,” Kara said.
In the end, Lex Luthor did nothing but breathe weakly, nothing but crumble under the paralyzing cowardice that had always burned right beneath his skin, the fear that masked itself as power, and scream as he was dragged into the air, passed through the portal, disappeared.
Just wind and thunder and rain.
-----
The AllStone rose into the sky and ripped itself apart.
The totems fizzled, dissipated, burned gold for a fractal of a second. Then they zipped away.
Goodbye.
Off to be wallflowers in the battle for some other universe’s story.
-----
Love is the opposite of fear.
Evening in the tower. Mid-first analysis of what had happened. Rain still thrummed against the balcony outside; and Lena’s eyes were raw, tired, tormented even, fixed blindly on the book of spells.
But she was there.
“Love is the opposite of fear,” she said quietly. “It builds courage. It strengthens our humanity. It pushes us to hope, to dream. To be truthful, even. We find our destiny by pursuing and acting in accordance with love.”
“All the totems,” Nia mused.
Lena gave a nod. “All the totems. Wherever love goes, the others follow. That must have been it. ‘The greatest of these is love.’ The love totem was stronger than the rest, and the others were drawn to it. They joined it when it was ready.”
Esme blinked shyly at her Aunt Lena over a cup of warm tea. “You’re very smart,” she complimented.
Everyone chuckled at that.
“Thank you,” Lena beamed at the little girl. “So are you.”
“Aaaaaand an amazingly fast learner--” Kara zoomed in, looking to Alex and Kelly for approval before intervening, just as Esme began to rise up off of the floor with a giddy, “Oh, Aunt Lena, look what I can do now--”
Kara confiscated Esme’s tea and, hand in hand, the two of them walked off to the far side of the tower.
“Flying with liquids is a dangerous thing, kiddo. Ask any of the airlines...”
Lena watched them go.
Brainy, Nia, Kelly, James, Winn, and J’onn all settled into a deeper conversation of their own, of the retrospective analyses to be conducted on the AllStone’s nature and vulnerability, how it functioned, the interactions between its totems, the gold tattoo that seemed permanently embedded into Lena’s skin, the pale gold bud on the back of Esme’s neck. Alex nodded along for a second. Then she excused herself and ducked away.
“Hey, Lena? Lena.”
Alex beckoned her over to the part of the tower furthest from Kara. Lena left her book and went to investigate this conspiratorial development.
“What is it?” she whispered.
Alex regarded her for a second. Then shook her her head sincerely.
“I am so sorry about Lillian.”
The playfulness drained from Lena’s face.
“It was a good end for us,” she said, lowering her eyes. “I’m grateful for it. I think -- well, Lillian was a better mother in the last five minutes of her life than she had been in the last five years,” Lena offered a weak smile, “so I have that. I’ll be alright.”
“Yeah, you will be. ” Alex struggled out. “You will. That’s what -- I wanted to tell you that---”
Alex’s eyes darted to Kara, who now hovered tealessly a few inches off the floor with Esme, giving her a solid lesson on mid-air stability.
Pull yourself together, Danvers.
Alex cleared her throat.
“I’ve always -- felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, Lena,” Alex began, talking with her hands. “Because I was the one who had to -- wanted to -- protect the one person who protected the world. The one person who meant so much to me, more than anything. I was responsible for keeping Kara safe. And I know that I’ll probably feel that way until I die, and probably even after that,” Alex paused, rolled her eyes at her emotion.
“But,” Alex steadied herself. “You are the first person that I have ever trusted to protect her as well as I can, Lena.”
Lena stared rawly back at her.
“Thank you for that,” Alex said. “Thank you for saving her. Thank you for being here. I hope you know just how much we need you, because I couldn’t have--”
The words stuck in her throat and Lena stepped forward, wrapped Alex in a hug. Alex hugged her back.
When they parted, Lena pulled some of the playfulness back into her expression. She cocked her head, dark brows furrowed.
“Is this your way of trying to shift the weight of the world onto my shoulders?”
Alex laughed.
“What? No, never...” she shook her head, all faux incredulity. Then, with a little shrug: “Well, ok, maybe. Maybe like half the weight of the world.”
Alex held Lena’s eyes again and gave her a real smile.
“If you want it.”
-----
Kara sat by herself.
In the early evening, the rustle of the trees, the warm, breezy gardens.
-----
Then a Luthor sat beside her.
-----
“I’ve struggled,” Kara said quietly. “With everything. With everything,” she heard the break in her voice and squinted away, to the blustery trees. The remnants of the wedding party and the distant music.
She played with her glasses.
“I’ve hid behind these glasses and it’s gotten in the way of everything, of every job I’ve ever had, everything I’ve ever wanted to do. Every relationship, every friendship. Every...chance...” Kara's voice broke again and she got to her feet, set her glasses down, paced to alleviate the pressure under her skin. “I don’t even know what that would feel like for me, connecting with someone as my whole self. I’m terrified the people I love will be hurt, Lena, I’m terrified.”
Lena watched her, heart aching.
Fire.
“I give speeches,” Kara was saying, “telling others to live their best lives, but I’m too afraid to live my own--”
“Kara--” Lena tried, getting up to follow her.
“-- and I haven’t been. Hiding myself was the reason I couldn’t pass the courage gauntlet. But it’s more than that, I’ve struggled with every part of it, the humanity, the truthfulness -- ”
Burning.
“-- destiny --”
“Kara,” Lena said steadily, stepping in front of her. Sparks under her skin. “Listen. I was always framed by someone else. By my brother, by Lillian. By what the world thought a Luthor should be. I felt I had to make up for the burden of my existence and it wasn’t until recently that I realized I hadn’t been living my life. And it devastated me. Because I never had the chance to grow up to be the person I was supposed to be.”
Lightness poured out of Lena despite the severity of her styling. Despite the black hair, the tears that were forming in her eyes, the faint gold scarring on her arms, across her chest, the dark purple--
Sun.
"But our ability to grow isn’t finite,” Lena insisted.
Kara felt on the verge of weeping. The sky burned, draped itself in red and gold.
You make me want to fight for you.
“You grow when you’re ready. And if somebody does come, Kara,” Lena said, taking a step closer, darkness scraping at the words, “and tries to mess with this family, then we will take them on together. You know that.” She reached out, gripped Kara’s shoulders.
You make me want to fight for you.
Lena slid her hands up to cup Kara’s neck.
“El mayarah.”
Kara felt the something finally mature and break inside her. It ripped through her chest, her arms, her face, warm, desperate, emboldened, ripened, ready, gold, as the evening rustled, the aging sun glowed all around them, the wind picked up--
Searching Lena’s brilliant eyes for permission, Kara leaned in and kissed her.
-----
It hums and swells.
At last, at last.
That erudite, elusive thing.
-----
And Lena Luthor kissed her back.

Some Tim Drake Fic Recs
I have been reading nothing but the “Tim Drake-centric” tag on AO3 for the last like week so here’s some fics! These aren’t all of the ones I’ve read (that would take a thousand years to write up), just the ones I sincerely recommend. I’ll include some notes about the story, why I recommend it, and such. Under the readmore because long.
Liminal Spaces Series by Calamityjim (TimKon)
This is, hands down, one of my favorites in this fandom. Technically a crossover between the Young Justice show and...I’m not exactly sure which continuity of comics, actually. Essentially, Bruce from Young Justice shows up in the comic universe and sees that Tim Drake is Not Healthy, kidnaps him to the Young Justice universe, and gets that boy some therapy. There are four main fics in the series so far, with a few other side fics fleshing out other characters or perspectives. It’s a really good all around Batfam fic, but mostly focused on Tim Drake. Nobody’s too perfect here, either—everyone makes mistakes and hurts people, but they do their best to communicate about it. It’s really, really good, and I am eagerly awaiting the next continuation.
Shutterbug Series by goldkirk (Gen)
On the other end of the “Get Tim Drake Some Therapy” agenda, we have the Shutterbug series. Oh my god, this series. It makes me cry every time I read it and I reread it every few months or so. It’s so good, guys. Essentially, Jason takes notice of Tim at school, setting off a chain reaction where Tim gets away from the Drakes, becomes Robin, and gets some love. All the found family here, folks. I adore this series with all my heart and I cannot sincerely recommend it more. Still a WIP and I am eagerly awaiting updates!
Surveillance Series by smilebackwards (TimKon)
“Jason Never Died AUs” my beloved. I love the consideration about how this radiates out, how Tim still finds a way to be a hero. Also how the Batfam immediately rallies around this kid and gets him on the team ASAP. I love Tim needling Lex Luthor, too, it’s freaking hilarious. The found family hits fast and hard here and I hope the author has plans for more fics soon because I crave it.
The Classic Shenanigans of Two Idiot Boys In Love by MashpotatoeQueen5 (TimKon)
This one hits hard. It’s got a lot of fluff and sweet stuff at the front and then the author comes and slaps you with a goddamn angst bomb. It’s a fic that makes you want to shake the characters and say “open your goddamn eyes, dude” but in the best way. I like the little asides into social media or headlines—they really round out the world. Also gives us an insight into what Tim is seeing about himself, which makes it easier to understand his point of view. Also Dick Grayson is Best Big Brother moments.
Home by sElkieNight60
Amnesia AUs my beloved. Seriously nothing gets these old bones a-rumblin’ like a good old amnesia fic—and this one’s got it all: miscommunications, drug running, Tim Drake not taking enough care of himself, and good dad Bruce Wayne. It’s great. I like the OCs (and I’m not a big OC fan most of the time), they’re really nice and it’s interesting to see people who don’t care much for Batman.
Okay, five seems like a good number for more—though I might do some more later! There’s so many good Tim Drake centric fics out there. This fandom feeds me well.

omg yes.... I would love any Tim drake rec you have. 😭😭😭😭
Sorry It has been WEEKS AND WEEKS but fam I am here to DELIVER!!!!!
In no particular order, and all completed if I don’t state otherwise:
First off, not Tim-centric but one of my top three fave portrayals of Tim ever: Everything in the Cor Et Cerebrum series by audreycritter. The holy grail of Batfam content.
The FUNNIEST silly series vox nihili et in Gotham ego that makes me crack up laughing every time I read them, and which is going to have a third fic at some point in the future, praise the lord I will Straight Up Die
The Liminal Spaces series by Calamityjim which I DIE OVER ON A WEEKLY BASIS, what a beautiful portrayal of Tim and what a healthy Batfam will look like and giving Tim the healing and rest he DESERVES even if the UNIVERSE DOESN’T WANT TO COOPERATE I love this series with my WHOLE HEART and I could read it a million times
The Surveillance series by smilebackwards. THIS IS OLDER TIM WHO IS RUNNING AROUND GOTHAM WITH A CAMERA GETTING EVIDENCE AND JASON ISN’T DEAD AND EVERYTHING IS WILD AND TIM IS JANET DRAKE’S SON AND MAKES IT HIS LIFE GOAL TO A) HELP THE BATS AND B) DRIVE LEX LUTHOR MAD AND HE IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE WHILE BEING A GENIUS AND I LOVE THIS TIM TO PIECES. He has no clue what to do while the Batfam slowly circles around and starts to pull him under their protective wings and meanwhile cannot keep himself from insulting Lex’s business strategy even while he is being literally shot at. God I love this stupid genius Tim to pieces oh my god it’s the Tim we all deserve
Whoopsie by MishaBerry, in which Tim’s asplenia comes back to haunt him (and everyone else in the family)
(Un)Wanted, by Mika-chan, in which Tim is kidnapped and oh my god the angst. But also the comfort.
Chemistry of a Car Crash by anthologica, in which Tim is, indeed, in a car crash, and it’s really really well done, love it
Obedience, by Sohotthateveryonedied—I don’t want to give anything away, but holy moly. This is so good. It’s like Ella Enchanted but with so much more pain and sibling bonding and Tim tears and comfort. WHAT a good plot omg.
Blink The Ghosts Out by MashpotatoeQueen5. Hohohohoho if you like timkon even a little bit, is this the angst for you. Tim gets drugged at a gala and goes through the process of trying to figure out how Kon is alive suddenly in front of him, and then has to deal with the fallout. Lots of hurt. Gentle amounts of comfort and compassion. So satisfying, very very well written. So real.
The Ol’ Switcheroo by AutumnHobbit, in which Damian takes a bullet for Tim, and brothers bond, and family comes together, and there’s a good plot, and so much hurt/comfort, SO WELL DONE I love this fic and reread it at least once a month tbh
Drinking Games by Shirokokuro, in which Tim and Bruce end up with a little tradition of cat-and-mouse at galas as Tim is a teenage boy determined to drive Bruce up the wall for attention and Bruce is Absolutely Onto Him, Just You Wait. No angst. All the hilarious fluff. I adore the tone of this!! So fun!
Can’t Stay Down (a Documentary) by SonoSvegliato. GOD. This is a STELLAR portrayal of Tim, and a hilarious portrayal of the batfam, and Tim has the misfortune of needing his tonsils out and fights them EVERY step of the way. Bruce is trying. SO hard. He may not be the best but he’s TRYING. There’s NatGeo Wild, a dinosaur plushie, a lot of jello and gatorade, stubborn vigilantes, pain meds, sibling harassment, and ABSOLUTE hilarity. This fic made me laugh out loud so many times while also wincing in sympathy. SO GOOD.
I’m Just Fine by girlgeekjf, in which SOMEONE EXPLORES THE AFTERMATH OF THAT ONE COMIC where Tim gets himself kidnapped on purpose, gets hit pretty bad in civvies, gets the other kids out, and watches that self-made sort-of-meta kid get super duper hurt and end up in a coma and falls into a hefty guilt spiral. Beautiful tackling of the aftermath of what injuries Tim likely had, so much good Batdad content, Tim being confused about affection and worry being thrown in his direction, and medically accurate fic. LOVE IT.
Lean On Me by Musingsofthesky, which is a LOVELY sickfic where Tim tries to hide his illness so he doesn’t ruin the business trip with Bruce. WHAT A GOOD DAD BRUCE IS IN THIS. Poor Tim. 10/10 read this again every few week. SUCH an accurate Tim.
Juneberries, by MishaBerry, in which Tim is kidnapped by Bad People, Damian goes after him all alone, Stuff Goes Down, and the two brothers at odds really learn to get along and finally share some honest conversation, god BLESS.
Year of Fallen Angels, by maychorian. WOW. Tim is captured and tortured, emerging from the experience with serious, life-changing injuries, and he has a long healing process ahead both physically and mentally. Beautifully woven. Amazing portrayal of physical recovery, family healing, slowly building self-worth, and so much beautiful growth among the whole Batfam as they circle the wagons around Tim in his time of need. This fic is WONDERFUL and a gift.
Into the Brighter Night, by @shoalsea. I don’t even know how to describe this fic. It’s two chapters away from completion, it’s my favorite Tim fic of all time, it does his character justice, it’s got ALL kind of Batfam and Young Justice dynamics, its plot is SO intricate and detailed and complex and interwoven, I have read it sixteen times, I will read it till I die, this is the best portrayal of Tim in all his deep complexity and skill and exhaustion and selflessness and goblin-like behavior and issues and badassery that I have ever seen in my life, 100000000/10 please read this I’m begging you you will be so overjoyed

From the Exclusion Zone: Report 02
Begin Log [DATE REDACTED]
Report Subjects: The Amity Park Exclusion Zone, Fentonworks, The Fentons, The Ghost Investigation Ward [GIW], The Portal
Report
Amity Park, IL./The Amity Park Exclusion Zone
Amity Park, a small town in rural Illinois, has been noted by occultists, magic users, and even some of our extra terrestrial members to be strange in some way, mostly noted as a “Thin Point” in the veil between the Living and the Dead. Amity Park became the Amity Park Exclusion Zone [APEZ] a month and a half after the activation of “The Portal” which allowed ghosts and spirits from a place known to locals as “The Ghost Zone” to come through with great ease, allowing them to cause havoc within city limits and beyond in some cases. These “Ghosts” are not magic such as Deadman, but instead seem to be the souls of the dead manifesting using a material that was recognized initially as “Lazarus Waters”, only for our scans to indicate that something is missing from the “Ectoplasm” that these Ghosts and Spirits are made of, implying that something happened to the sources of Lazarus Water that we know of.
The APEZ has been under siege by the GIW since after the portal opened and the townsfolk have suffered for it, with numerous non-fatal casualties caused by the GIW during every action they take, without exception. This has led to Amity Parkers utilizing tools made by The Fentons to defend themselves, be that from the Ghosts or the GIW. Locals have fallen into a siege mentality and while they can leave, they always risk being picked up by the GIW during their excursions, if only due to the fact that the majority of the town has been “Ecto-Contaminated” to some degree or other, making a large number of the current youth in Amity Park into “Liminals”, those who are considered closer to the line of life and death than others. Some have even developed powers due to this, though it is kept a secret from the GIW and Outsiders due to a set of laws passed by the Federal Government known as the “Anti-Ecto Acts”.
The Fentons/Fentonworks/The Portal
Doctors Jackson and Madeline Fenton, Doctors in Ectobiology, run an business known as “Fentonworks”, which seems to violate several OSHA guidelines but has not been condemned or torn down. The Fentons themselves are a staple of the town, and the news even declares when they will be driving due to Dr. Jackson Fenton’s rather, unique style.
The Fentons create many tools, mostly weapons fueled by Ectoplasm that is present in the air of Amity Park, enough so that they were able to fuel a Portal to the Ghost Zone. This portal initially failed but became active later after Daniel Fenton was admitted to the Hospital for electrical burns, likely what gave him his powers.
The Ghost Investigation Ward [GIW]
The Ghost Investigation Ward’s founding is rather recent from what documentation tells us, though when we questioned Amity Parkers about them and went through Physical Documentation, it was found that the GIW has kidnapped at least Thirty Amity Parkers thinking they were ghosts, and only released them when preliminary “Dissections” read them as Human with high Ectoplasmic contamination. We have also found that the GIW has a rival and enemy in Lex Luthor, whose attempt to free Amity Park during his Presidency resulted in thirteen Cadmus agents going missing, until we found the recordings of their executions by the GIW. This organization is now a threat, and we shall deal with them when we begin our full involvement in Amity Park, which will need the blessings of not just the townsfolk, but their neighbors from through The Portal.
Conclusion
Amity Park was a thin point between Dimensions, specifically between the Dimension of the Living [Ours] and the Ghost Zone, or Infinite Realms, both names used by AMEZ Locals and “Ghosts” to refer to the other Dimension. Current gossip within town seems to indicate that the General Populace know of Phantom’s identity, including his parents, but the GIW is unaware, most likely due to interference done by the locals. I am requesting John Constantine to come verify some things before we play our hand, but thus far things are looking dicey at best given that the townsfolk attempted to contact the Justice League when all of this started and only stopped sending SOS calls within the last six months.
