So this week is going to go down as maybe the most sapphic week in animation history. It’s going to have a great case, there are so many sapphic shows or shows with prominent sapphic couples airing this week.
Don’t know what I’m talking about? Here’s a quick rundown:
Yuri Is My Job!
Premiering on Crunchyroll on April 6th.
Tumblr media
Yuri is My Job! is based on a yuri manga of the same name. It follows high schooler Hime, who cares deeply about her image as sweet and helpful, even though she’s actually selfish. She accidentally injures the manager of a cafe, and agrees to work there to make up for it. But this is no ordinary cafe, it’s like a cafe dinner theater where all the waitresses play characters from a fictional high school and act out skits for the patrons. Hime’s character is supposed to be in love with one of the other waitresses’ character, but she starts actually falling for the girl. Only problem is, behind the scenes the other waitress seems to hate her.
Yeah, that sounds kind of bonkers! I can already see the story now, Hime starting out playing a role, and eventually having to legitimately earn the love of Mitsuki.
Tumblr media
Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story
Season 2 premiering on Crunchyroll on Friday, April 7th
Tumblr media
Ah Birdie Wing. If you saw season one, you know just how delightful wacky this show is. It follows the stories of Eve, a golfer that plays in illegal underground golf matches for the mob, and Aoi, a golf prodigy and the new sensation of the golf world. Their lives crash into each other and the chemistry is overwhelming and immediate.
Technically Eve and Aoi aren’t canon as of the end of s1, but it’s hard to imagine that the show isn’t heading in that direction. It makes no effort to hide the fact that these two are into each other.
I’m so excited to see what season 2 has in store for these two. Birdie Wing is just a delightfully weird little show.
Tumblr media
Princess Principal: Crown Handler Chapter 3
Premieres in theaters in Japan on Friday, April 7th
Tumblr media
Alright, so this won’t be useful to a lot of people reading this, as this is only premiering in Japan this weekend. But I wanted to mention it because (a) it’ll come over to the US sometime this year, and (b) Princess Principal is awesome and I want to promote it when I can.
Princess Principal was a 12 episode series that aired in 2017, and Crown Handler is a six-part sequel OVA series.
In a nutshell, Princess Principal is a steampunk spy thriller set in an alternate universe European kingdom that has been divided by a wall, Berlin-style. It follows a team of spies, masquerading as high school girls, as they try to prevent the two sides from going to war.
I know, “why is this on a list of gay shit?” Well, because it is. Two of the main characters, Ange and Princess Charlotte, are big-time into each other and while the original series does the anime thing of “we’re only allowed to go so far with this”, the OG series has a lot of intimate scenes between the two and does end *SPOILERS* with the two of them sitting on the beach together while holding hands.
And perhaps Crown Handler, being made years later, can finally take their relationship farther.
Tumblr media
RWBY Volume 9
Volume 9 episode 8 airing on Crunchyroll on Saturday, April 8th
Tumblr media
RWBY has been ongoing, and the current volume has been airing since February, but there’ll be another episode this Saturday. Right now RWBY is in the middle of dealing with a lot of trauma, BUT, the bees are canon and dating so every episode of RWBY is now officially gay. So says me.
Tumblr media
The Owl House: Watching and Dreaming
Series finale airing on the Disney Channel on Saturday, April 8th
Tumblr media
I’M NOT READY TO LOSE THIS SHOW! 😭
*ahem* The third and final season 3 special airs on Saturday, and promises to be mega emotional and super gay.
I’m grateful that this show had a chance to finish its story, something a lot of sapphic media doesn’t get to do. But I am still pissed about it getting cancelled in the first place simply because it didn’t fit their “brand” (read: this show is too gay for Disney).
But I just know that Dana and her team put together a sensational finale.
Tumblr media
Mobile Suit Gundam: the Witch From Mercury
Season 2 premiering on Crunchyroll on Sunday, April 9th.
Tumblr media
Affectionately called G-Witch, season 1 of this show was a revelation in the fall. It follows the story of Suletta Mercury, precious cinnamon roll and the most talented mobile suit pilot around, and Miorine Rembran, daughter of the president of the Benerit Group, a mega-corporation that has massive political power.
The show revolves around a school that’s mostly full of the children of powerful people. And then there’s Suletta, a nobody that just wants to be a normal girl and have a normal school life but through a series of events ends up in a mobile suit duel that she easily wins, earning her the title of Holder, which makes her Miroine’s groom.
At first, the two treat the arrangement as a business arrangement, both seeing practical value in this arranged engagement. But it’s obvious that Miorine is actually pretty into Suletta from the start, and we see Suletta slowly falling for Miorine too.
G-Witch is incredible. Part awesome mecha fights, part political intrigue, part romance between two useless girls who’d rather die that admit their actual feelings.
I am SO EXCITED for season 2!
Tumblr media
LGBTQ media hasn’t had it great as of late, with a ton of frustrating cancellations and it almost feeling like Hollywood is going backwards in terms of its commitment to giving us space to tell our stories.
But animation, both in the US and in Japan, seems to be making great strides, being our light in the dark.
All five of these shows are airing episodes this week, and Crown Handler will be in theaters this week and on streaming/blu-ray later this year. RWBY has been airing for weeks and its been the gayest volume yet. the Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady just finished airing and was wonderfully sapphic. I’m In Love With the Villainess is scheduled to air sometimes this year. And just maybe we might get Arcane season 2 before the end of the year.
I’m excited for how sapphic and yuri animation is progressing, I hope it keeps going forward.

Sir Pentious Redesign! (2/7)
It took way longer than expected to get this guy out but I think it was worth it!
Going to start off with the biggest gripe that Vivzie never makes characters look like their respective eras or set times. For Sir Pentious finding out hes OLDER than alastor made my jaw drop to the goddamn floor. While I was inspired by fashion from 1888, I mostly wanted him to have a steampunk-ish vibe and give him some things from times different than when he died. I guess I’m a bit guilty of making him look like he’s from a different era but he still doesn’t look modern I guess?
I took a big chunk of inspiration from the King Cobra for his colours and scales but I think leaving the type of snake he is a little ambiguous is more flexible.
Tumblr media
Things like the green in his eyes and vest and gloves are once again my usage of the sin colour wheel I go crazy about. Sir Pentious is a very envious person in the show to an extent and definitely is in my rewrite. I also kind of wanted him to look like an opposite to Angel Dust with all his pink because inverted colours yknow. Seeing as they eventually become friends and all that in my rewrite I’d like for them to look nice together!
The brown is also a lot easier on my eyes than the black and red and yellow was so I’m pretty happy with that too. I was very attached to his goggles though so he gets those and the little extra magnifying bits for designing
I think I’ll eventually end up adding more to this post later on but for now this is what I’ve got so far! I love this funny british snake and I plan to get the next redesign out much sooner… hopefully. 🧹

Tumblr media
Creator Spotlight: @fourbrickstall
I’m a photographer who likes to shoot portraits,  acro, and toys. My favorite themes are medieval fantasy, steampunk, and apocalypse. I manage a fan community about LEGO photography called BrickCentral, and I am its LEGO ambassador.
Check out our full interview below!
How did you get your start in photography?
I think I have always really liked looking at things through a lens—I had plenty of microscopes and telescopes growing up—so photography was a natural progression. I started out taking photos of nature, architecture, and travel but really became a photographer in my mind when I learned studio photography. I love creating interesting light on people in particular.
What inspired you to work with LEGO specifically?
Several years ago, a couple of photography blogs I followed featured a 365-day phone photography project by Andrew Whyte about a miniature traveling LEGO photographer. It was the first time I had ever seen toy photography. And LEGO! It had been years since I had ever even looked at LEGO, but it brought back memories of smiley-faced space explorers on lunar bases. I was surprised by how modern LEGO minifigures had become: this LEGO photographer was so urban with a beanie hat on its head and a cute camera in its hand. I immediately wanted to create a little LEGO version of myself, too (called a “sigfig” or signature figure, I later learned.) Around that time, I had my hands full with a toddler and was looking for a way to keep shooting creatively. But I only had space for one bag at a time—a diaper bag or a camera bag—so a phone and a minifig seemed like a fantastic way to keep taking photos.
Once I got my LEGO minifigure in the mail, I started shooting and became instantly hooked. Not only on the photography but on the collecting aspect too. I now have hundreds of minifigures and even more LEGO minifigure parts to create custom characters with. So it was the LEGO that caught my attention right away, but the photography workflow is what sealed the deal for me.
What is your favorite piece of all time? Why?
Tumblr media
I really love this photo for lots of reasons. It’s the kind of photographer I want to be: someone who doesn’t let weather or terrain or whatever become an excuse for not doing what they love. I also like that this shot looks like I found this great location in the forest, but the reality is that I shot this on my window sill with just some bark, twigs, and moss that I collected from around Brooklyn. It doesn’t get more metropolitan than NYC, but with just an idea and a few materials, I created a completely different environment. Atmospheric effects are another thing I like to add to my photos, so the “rain” hits the spot. It’s just spray from a water bottle.
From idea to final piece, how long does it take for you to create something?
The great thing about shooting LEGO is that it can be as easy or as complex as you want it to be: from subject to gear, to lighting, to location. As a portrait photographer, shooting an unusual or interesting character is part of the thrill, so I spend about an hour creating one custom minifig from my hundreds of loose parts.
Tumblr media
Sometimes I use official LEGO models as a subject or as a background, and these take some time to build, depending on the size of the set. I build my own models and scenes, too—known as My Own Creations (MOCs) in LEGO lingo. These take me forever because I’m not a great MOC builder, and I don’t have thousands of LEGO parts at my disposal. It’s not unusual for MOCs to take days or weeks for me to finish.
This tiny red house on wheels took me about 5 days to build:
Tumblr media
This Japanese alley took me a month:
Tumblr media
When shooting outdoors, I look for locations that scale well to LEGO minifigs and models and also have beautiful light. I seek out pockets of light through trees to put my subjects in, but I also make sure to have patches of shadow throughout the scene to give it some depth.
Tumblr media
I already have some favorite locations, so it’s really just a matter of getting to them or waiting for the right time of day. Indoors, I can get shooting rather quickly at any time of day in my studio nook, which is an alcove I’ve set up with lighting and supports just for my LEGO photography. Having that dedicated space and grip really accelerates getting into a flow state. Negentropy is my friend.
Tumblr media
A custom minifig in a MOC photographed in my studio nook is my favorite kind of work to do, but that also takes the longest because of the build time and more complex lighting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What are 3 things you can’t live without as a creator?
My camera, my lenses, and Lightroom are three things I can’t live without as a creator. I love the whole process of shooting—seeing how different settings and gear change an image—and then taking that image and making it truer to what I feel in post.
What do you wish you knew when you first started out creating content that you know now?
I wish I knew that it’s easier to find your tribe when you figure out who you are as an artist first. I think it’s tempting to try to belong immediately because it’s exciting to find other people who share the same interests as you. But doing that too quickly and investing too deeply can influence your art or trap you in a style that isn’t really you.
What are your file name conventions?
FBT-desc-of-lego-subject.jpg I’m not as organized as I would like to be, but I have my folders set up descriptively and by date in Lightroom. It’s great for managing thousands of photos.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
I love the DnD artists on Tumblr! I’m so inspired by their beautiful illustrations, character creations, and storytelling. I played a few campaigns with my Dungeon Master brother as a teenager, so I know and love that world. I guess my affinity for custom LEGO characters is rooted in the character creation part of DnD.
My favorite characters these days are artificers and tieflings, so I follow those tags on Tumblr to see all the stunning artwork by the community.
Check out more amazing LEGO photography over at @fourbrickstall!

I've recently seen some posts saying that arguing against AI art would lead to corporations cracking down on fanart and fanfiction. I've had this thought floating around in my brain ever since. Part of me wants to dismiss it, since I feel it isn't anywhere near the same. AI can't argue to have been inspired and to have added their own little heart into a piece, but you can't exactly define that in law. Most art is also conceptually not original. However, AI is assured to be using a combination of direct sample, just from too many sources. So... I don't know. I feel you are very well informed in these kind of matters and would like to hear your opinion.
There's a simple distinction there, which is that "AI art" algorithms are not people. They're not even AI, there is no artificial intelligence happening here. They are machine learning algorithms, not inherently different in nature to the ones serving you "ads relevant to your interests" on various websites right now.
"AI art" cannot be said to be creative because those machine learning algorithms are not people. People are creative. Sentient, sapient, thinking minds are creative. Machines are not. They simply execute whatever algorithm we've put in their black box.
The argument "AI" art enthusiasts very passionately try to make is that their prompts are creative, that the specific line of words they input into the machine which create the output, that is creative, that is transformative. And idk, maybe there's a court case to be fought over that, but to me that reads like saying if you manually input a Minecraft seed, you now deserve creative credit and copyright over the world that it generates, because your prompt is the generative element, not the underlying technology actually executing the output. Microsoft might have some expensive legal opinions about that idea.
The allegory I like to use is this: Imagine that you can't do a backflip. Then, someone sells you a robot which does backflips at the press of a button. Would you say that because you pressed the button that caused the backflip to happen, that means you have now done a backflip?
"I caused a backflip to exist, therefore I performed it!"?
I won't argue that it can be a tricky business to optimize an input for the art machine such that it produces a desired output, but the scope of what the machine can output is NOT defined by the person doing the input, but by the data-set that the machine has available to draw upon. You can tell an "AI art" program to produce "steampunk" artwork all you want, but if the machine doesn't have a big library of steampunk artwork in its database to draw upon, it will never produce steampunk outputs.
You can only prompt the machine to replicate that which has already been fed to it.
Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein and birthed the modern genre of science fiction because she had been disturbed by hearing stories about new experiments to stimulate dead tissue with electricity and seemingly restore it to life. To write it, she drew upon inspiration from everything from gothic horror to biblical themes to famous explorer's diaries. Mary Shelley created Frankenstein by synthesizing the accumulated experience of a lived life.
A machine learning algorithm could only ever create Frankenstein if you had already fed Frankenstein by Mary Shelley into its database.

WIP ROUND UP!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOT FOR SALE!
To do:
Fix her hand (oopsie I broke it.)
Finish sewing her bloomers.
Finish sewing her blazer.
Finish her stockings (including a stump cover for her leg.)
Make her wig.
Make a hat (bowler or bonnet? Still undecided.)
Make her shoes (booties? Slippers?)
Make her umbrella gun (inspired by the real life Bulgarian Umbrella.)
Here's my thicc, steampunk, WW1 black-and-white, vaguely Silent-Era cartoon, one armed, one legged prostitute-assasine Smart Doll WIP. If that seems like a dense concept, you need to get on my level of neurodivergency, clearly.
The idea behind her is she's like, this "exotic entertainer" in a vaguely turn-of-the-century WW1 steampunk setting. She officially employed under the ruse of being something like an all-in-one, singer, dancer, conversationalist, "professional company and party attendant for high-powered men and women" escort. Soft, feminine, "silly," and physically disabled, she's actually a highly effective contract killer who gets away with it by acting like a helpless empty headed bimbo who uses people's own mysogyny and people's prejudice against her being obviously disabled and a sex worker to her advantage.
The kind of backstory I had in mind was that she managed to survive a bombing of her hometown when she was little that took both her right limbs and caused severe nerve damage. Due to an error in message decoding, her town was reported to be taken by enemy forces. The monarchy, taken by spurise by this development and panicking due to the geographic advantage of the localtion for attack on the capital, opted to hastily bomb it without any other evidence or confirming how the opposition's army could have taken the town without them knowing until now. They didn't know until after the whole area had been leveled they just blew up their own citizens over a mistake. It left her (pun not intended, but welcomed, ha) fighting to balance chronic pain and addiction to painkillers for the rest of her life, and surviving on sheer spite for authoritarian incompetence. She loves destroying the lives of high powered figures as much as she loves being paid for it. Because her ability to feel pain had been altered so drastically, she can take a hit, stabbing, and even a gunshot like it's nothing so long as it isn't lethal. The extreme sports of "when life gives you lemons." Her go-to weapon is her parasole that fires small poison pellets at close range, that can also be converted into a disguised sniper rifle by swapping out attachments. Her signature trick to things going tits up is letting herself get battered up a bit, than crying on command like a helpless girl. Pitiful as possible. She can hold her own in a brawl, but it's often more effective to let her targets attack her and make a big scene. Have them die slow painful deaths hours later when their organs give out seemingly out of nowhere in the company of witnesses after she's long been "saved" by her handlers. Assault being common for escorts in her line of work, no one thinks the wiser. Even if they do, she's just a "poor, simple, crippled girl" who just got beaten up by a client, how would that make them look if they accused her of fowl play?
I'm not really writing a story persay in mind for this character, it's more so just the fun of character development and narrative through character design, but maybe I'll use the idea somewhere someday. Really I just love that contrast of innocently dangerous, and wanted her to physically embody that. As an animator, obviously, that Silent Era aesthetic is something I'm living for. Osamu Tezuka is post-WW2 obviously, but the vibes I'm kind of going for is if he worked for Fleischer Studios. Blackjack, but make it Out of the Inkwell.
Her eyes are handmade and hand painted out of acrylic, and her body's obviously very heavily moded. I gave her much more generous cleavage, and tried to give her the chubbyiest thighs, tummy and butt I thought I could get away with, but, looking at her I think I might have been able to give her some more pudge. For anyone unfamiliar with the issues with trying to mod base dolls into plus sizes, the joints can pose problems when making it look right. I prefer dolls with more extreme figures and bodies and like the challenge and look of making dolls with different body types and fat distributions, so I'm experimenting more and more with doll "mid-sizifying" I suppose you could call it. Eventually I'd like to get to trying to do a full like, proper "plusizification." Taking a thin doll and trying to put like, an approximate 100 lbs on her if nothing for the joy of the logistics of it alone. It'd be cool to try it with a Smart Doll or Dollfie Dream, something with an interior skeleton. I think that'd be the best results. I think I might as well make body parts to fit over those endo skeletons from scratch, though. I only have Smart dolls at the moment to work off of, but if anyone is interested in commissioning some chubby to full plus-size Smart Doll custom option parts, let me know. I'll happily give you a discount while I'm just experimenting with all this.
Her head is of course also moded. I wanted her to look like she was punched, so her cheek is swelling a bit. She's a Smart Doll Journey if I remember correctly.
Her leg is a mixed media. Fabric, wire, metal, a pen. Those interior skeletons make Smart Dolls fantastic to put robotic limbs on--- extremely easy to attach. I wanted it big and cartoonish, the foot looking like a big heavy oversized metal boot, and also to look like a highly engenieered peg leg instead of a proper prostetic. Vaguely inspired by Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon's leg, which the suggestion it's spring operated. You know, antiquated but advanced as most fantasy steampunk is.
Her tattoos are all flowers that have some meaning in Victorian flower code. The big one on her chest being an anemone. It represents a warning or notes something as "forsaken." Used to ward off evil spirits, disease, death, and bad luck. So it's kind of an omen of bad shit happening. A protection and a bad sign. Because I'm trash I'm tempted to name her "Anne Amie." "Amie" is the feminine word for "friend." It also sounds both like "anemone" and "an enemy" when run together out loud. That might be a play on words, punny name so loaded it might rip a fabric in the universe, haven't decided yet, but there you go. I might just decided I accept my crimes against the English, French, and flower-based languages. We'll see.

I hope the surgery went well and recovery goes smoothly!!! You asked for asks and I saw you have some robo Varian art that's been eating my brain for a few days now. I guess not technically a question but I'd love to hear more about that au if you wanna ramble 👉👈
HEYYY thank you so much! it went really well and the pain is super minimal rn, i can even sit up on my desk! which was recommended by my surgeon to do anyway so thats rad
ANYWAYSSSSS... THANK YOU for the kind words im so glad you like it!! and THANK YOU for reminding me of the fact i never posted about my robot au like i had meant to 💀
here it is NOW (and to anyone who hasnt seen the art here it be)
this is long as hell btw. so sorry
SO. setting i imagine is similar to typical vat7k BUT a little darker and more dystopian. think steampunk industrial stuff... which i know hugo's kingdom is already like lol but just imagine it like. in a lot more places. this is basically a "steampunk" au too
robots are VERY common. invented by a group of scientists with the main ones being donella and ulla
robots are used as service etc etc. theyre not sentient at all so this isnt like. some unethical practice
but ulla and donella are OBSESSED with making them more and more advanced, theyre besties and all that. but ulla is Particularly obsessed with making the Perfect Robot
we know that ulla is kind of messed up in the head. in this au she kind of messes way too much with robot sentience WHILE ALSO getting obsessed with the eternal library. same stuff happens eventually. donella and ulla fight about the eternal library etc etc
BUT ALSO... ulla is working on her Magnum Opus. a son for her and her husband, who she is making to be the perfect robot. quirin is unaware of the shit shes doing and fully trusts her and supports this passion project
and well! she does make the first Sentient Robot. with the use of science and Magical Knowledge she was able to basically give life force through magical means into the robot. The robot of course she named varian. and not only is he sentient, but he looks completely human
she did some messed up stuff tho! again! she's programmed him with fake memories so he thinks he has lived a life fully as a human. he's also programmed to not notice things like the small seams on his body and all that. like his code just immediately disregards all that
anywaysss. after ulla disappears, quirin is dedicated to taking care of varian. he figures it's best to follow with ulla's choice of making sure varian doesnt know hes a robot
MEANWHILE ! because of the schism between ulla and donella, there was some wack shit that happened. namely robots going completely crazy. now all robots are Murder Robots. so the world is pretty Dystopian at the moment
Varian decides he wants to go out and find the source of what made the robots go crazy. bc this sucks lol. like everyone is Just Miserable
so he meets his friends. nuru, yong, hugo!
LETS TALK ABOUT HUGO
hugo works for donella. hugo also absolutely HATES robots. the robots have been messing shit up since he was a kiddo
he's kind of like a robot hunter. harvesting them for parts as well as getting rid of them bc theyre dangerous. usually donella directs him to different missions. and now shes telling him to join this guy (varian) bc she wants the secrets that ulla had hidden and varian is sure as hell after them
sooooo at one point. varian gets hurt maybe, or interacts with something that breaks the code in him or whatever. the code that stops him from noticing his robotic qualities. i think he probably would get super injured and like. he and all his friends stare in shock and horror as some sort of gash or sparks or whatever show a metallic inside
they all find out he's a robot together weeeee. no one is having a good time
so he's living with existential crisis. he's away from his dad so he cant travel all the way back to be like hey What The Fuck. AND he's still dedicated to his goal. but now he's just. confused, scared, and unsure if he's worthy of his humanity that he thought he had
they all try to work with this new discovery (which i think would happen earlier on rather than way later). hugo especially is like. having a crisis. bc he's always hated robots and for good reason. but varian... varian is SO human. he thinks, he feels, he cares, etc. he's more Human than a lot of the Flesh and Blood people he's been around
so you know, hugo starts to fall in love with him anyway. lots of excellent scenes of him helping varian with his mechanics, etc
and of course varian starts falling in love with him too, but is dealing with a lot of confusion as well. like is he even real, doesnt hugo deserve to be loved by a Human and not a Robot, etc etc
ok jesus christ. i think thats all the main stuff. woaghghg

Right after the final battle, while the yells of fury at missing diamonds still echoed in the emptiness of the nether roof, Impulse left. For being such a prominent figure, not only as one of the leaders of the resistance but in his stature as well, he could be quite invisible at times. So no one noticed him leave. He walked out of the vault, put back on his heavy netherite armor and elytra, and took off towards the hole in the bedrock that would lead to the nether hub. He kept feeling for the ender chest in his pocket, as if reassuring himself about the contents he kept within it.
Through the sparkling hub and down a side tunnel the dwarf flew. It was quieter then it had ever been in the nether- the usual hustle and bustle of hermits was gone, as they were all still celebrating the end of the kingdom of Ren, or perhaps still lamenting the lost diamonds from the vault. The diamonds were a concerned whisper in the back of his mind, but he had more pressing matters right now.
He stepped through a nether portal and emerged in the over world. The wind curled around him up here, and for a moment Impulse stood, holding onto the edge of the portal, eyes closed and face raised to the sun. It was a lovely day, almost as if the server was welcoming him as a hero. Kingslayer.
Impulse stepped off of the portal into open air, eyes opening as he dropped like a rock. He was in freefall, and the nice day curdled as he fell past the ground and into the hole now lined with sculk- Grian must have added it recently, it was a nice touch. Impulse’s elytra opened, and he touched down on the stone floor without taking any damage. Grian had carved out this place and decorated it, he was sure, with the idea of happy mechanical steampunk in mind. The elements were all there, but there was the matter of the swirling rift and, well…
Impulse stood before the towering machine of Grumbot Prime, looking up at its mustached face that was still, although Impulse still felt the tingling sensation of being watched. He set down his enderchest and pulled out three scraps of paper folded together. They were fuzzy and worn on the folded edges from where Impulse had rubbed at it with his thumb over and over again.
“Remove. King. Claim.” He spoke, and it was louder then he thought it would be. The humming machines seemed quieter almost, as if they too were listening. “Kind of odd things to be put into the content generator. So, how did you do it, Grumbot? I don’t think we have to be coy with one another. The king is dead.” Impulse paused, the impact of those words hitting him like a wave of water. A smile came to his face. “I took the killing blow. But why did you want him gone?” He looked into Grumbot’s empty eyes. “What do you know, Grumbot?”
Grumbot was silent. The big, cold machine stood as a statue, and the dwarf, smile fading, felt small before it. He shivered, and turned away. Maybe Grian had been right, this new Grumbot was kind of creepy.
Impulse walked over to a crafting table by the rift. This, too, was creepy. He could swear it was whispering at him, some nonsensical thing about the sun. He turned back, a chest in his hands now, and walked to stand in front of Grumbot again.
“I didn’t say it there, so I guess you’ll have to be my audience.” Impulse placed down the chest, and put the three bits of paper inside. “This content was generated by Grumbot.”
He closed the lid, the resounding thud louder then he’d like it to be. “Why, Grumbot? What do you want?”
Impulse stood before the machine for a moment more. Nothing happened. He took out his rockets and flew out of that wretched hole and into the sky once more. Grumbot scared him. He was not too proud of a man not to admit it. But what scared him more, perhaps, is that he still didn’t know why.

Solarpunk as a Storytelling Framework
Tumblr media
I will be honest: Yes, right now I am mostly writing Fanfictions set in somewhat medieval fantasy settings. But I really do want to write more original stuff - especially Solarpunk fiction. I talked about my idea of writing a Solarpunk horror story two days ago. And I promise you that I will write more about that during the next few weeks.
Something else that I have talked about before is the fact, that there is not yet a lot of solarpunk fiction. And part of that is that Solarpunk is inherently anti-capitalist and hence a lot of big media conglomerates do not want to tell those stories. But another part is, that people treat Solarpunk too much as a genre on its own, but do not know what kind of story a Solarpunk is actually telling.
And here is the thing: You gotta realize that technically Solarpunk mostly describes a setting - not a type of story.
See, here is the thing: This is actually true for a lot of "genre fiction". Fantasy technically also does not tell you what kind of story it is, only that it takes place in a sort of fantastical setting, where there might be magic, fantasy creatures, or maybe stuff like elves and dwarves and what not. And sure, most folks hear "fantasy" and think "adventure", but if you consider this you will realize that for the most part fantasy really does describe the setting - and adventure is the actual genre.
Same can be said with SciFi. In both Fantasy and SciFi you can technically tell a romance, an erotic thriller, an adventure, a murder mystery, a philosophical story about the meaning of life, a political drama, and a ton of other stories.
And the same is true for Solarpunk. You can tell all sorts of stories within a Solarpunk setting.
And sure, some of the other punk genre tend to be more pegged in with their actual genre. Like, most Cyberpunk tends to be mystery-based with a heavy helping of noir. Most Steampunk tends to go into either some adventuring direction, or deal with mystery as well. And even as small was Whalepunk is, most Whalepunk tends to be horror-themed.
But rather than be alienated by the fact that Solarpunk does not yet have a hole to be pegged in... We should rather enjoy this fact, don't you think?

There's an au prompt that I am heavily interested in. And this is also the base of what I want to write in my story. I personally love this au. Not many people dwell deeper in this au (I knew some but not know much for outdonesian people. Whereas in Indonesian fandom, this thing is quite rare... I guess. But that rarity is like find a needle in a hay stack, or find a golden in the mud.... ^^')
Tumblr media
"These two anonymous made me overthink late at night. It made me speculate how are the elementals gonna do if Oboi is gone someday? they are immortals yet their master is a human.
But this is my favorite kind of troupe. Immortal and mortal, hahahaha. Normally the ones who couldn't move on are the immortals."
[Pict no.1]
'If we think deeper, The elementals are older than Oboi himself, right? They were born in the various Power Spheres and then founded by the kings, The Chiefs, and even mere citizens. All this time, it turns out halitaugem(Halilintar, Taufan, and Gempa) and others are already 100+ years old.'
[Pict no. 2]
'The Elementals are older than Oboi, aren't they. Imagine the 7 elementals saying their gratitude to Oboi for their safety as if he protected their lives and did not misuse them, and they will vow to guard Oboi, the purest elemental wielder of them all.'
Different tweet but still indirect to the op.
Tumblr media
"Halilintar: "He's only a kid who just got his power, he probably will get hurt because of us."
Taufan: "What if he abuses it when he's older like a certain guy?"
Gempa: "I know, however, I want to put my trust in someone one more time."
.
Gempa: "You guys want to join me?"
Halilintar & Taufan: *smiling* "Definitely."
Whether if the immortals unable to move on or not. These kind of concept where the elementals passing their duty after their last master is really tempting. Imagine this could be Oboi's himself dies of old age and he left his energy to let all elementals become the real humans; or in the last battle, before he gone, Oboi use his final move to let him split into seven. And after that, all elementals lived in the future.
In my mind, the settings are a bit different.
Thousand years in the future. All planets are destroyed and Quabac is the last remaining planet. All survivors from the destroyed planet moved to Quabac and created nations based on fallen planets. The planet's names are the names of nations same with their background settings(Still in draft and a bit generic.) :
Gugura is a dumpster city.
Windara, a steampunk nation above the clouds.
Rimbara a forest wonderland for villagers.
Baraju, two military nations that became the planet's first defense system, and-
Gur'latan, a high-tech cyberpunk city and the central nation of the planet.
The people lived under control and their fate was already decided by the mighty emperor who never showed it's face. All elementals lived separately with no past memories.
Until a certain worker who lived inside the rusty house, found an unordinary watch that triggered a nightmare. The sound of pain and shout that he felt he experienced even though he was sure he never remembered any of those throughout his life. Suspicious theories occur when he sees the legendary TAPOPS logo, who supposed to be a myth in children's tales.
More mysteries arise after he sees the mirror of himself at the barter station in some city of Gugura, or so he thought. A man in all white cloth was just sent by Gur'latan authorities to collect data. Coincidentally.
That's when they meet and their nightmares have become more clear and the fact that they are not alone already tells there's something wrong with their past to this day.
...
That's all for now I guess. I got this idea during my discussion with @nerizys (Apologies for tagging your name🙏). Still trying to make it more of a proper prompt since I'm suck in english.
... Really want it to make into a full story though... :*

WIP questionnaire
tagged by @coffeewritesfiction and I am so sorry to take this long on a reply. Thanks for the tag!
Tagging @fallenscintilla (if you want! No pressure!) and @waywardwizzard and anyone who wants to!
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
The very first line was: “D’ya think I care how it tastes?” I posted an edited version here. There's a snip of the original here.
For the record, it started as a character background for a TTRPG. In fact, it wasn’t even going to be the character I was going to play. Harrowed (undead/revenant) gunfighter? *eyeroll* Too cliché. I even made a homebrew archetype to play: a “spiritualist” in the late 1800’s sense. But that first line kept bugging me so I figured, okay. Fine. I’ll write this one scene and then work on my spiritualist.
Yeah. No. I never played the spiritualist.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
I did all the fan stuff for Phil and Skyfallen, like playlists, faceclaims, all of that. I never did that before. I selected music for the theoretical TV show: main theme, a rotating list of outro/credits roll music, pieces for certain kinds of scenes. So if Skyfallen were a TV series, this would be the theme:
youtube
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
That’s like asking which of my pets was my favorite. I love them all. I guess I loved Phil enough to make them the viewpoint character. They’re a more-mature version of the kind of character I wrote when I was a kid, now with serious problems I can explore as an adult. I like Phil’s father, whom I was determined to fridge in the beginning because fridging is usually a female character. Ha Ha! Then I went and gave him a character arc that could only end in his death so he’s not fridged after all.
I like Travelling Sam for being a conniving, money-grubbing jerk, but he’s fun to write. I like Eva as Carnival Mom; Maury for being a flamboyant, fun-to-be-around person hiding a serious drinking problem that everyone knows about. I like Doc Butcher for his name, for actually being trained as a vet but caring about everyone, and trying to do his best when he’s in over his head because he can’t do nothing.
I like Maker Lewis for his change of heart, though he was already on the fence and just needed a shove. And I like Miss Warren for being a nosy reporter whom Phil doesn’t want to like but ends up liking anyway. She also lets me play at muckraking reporter. Choosing words to specifically slant a piece is a load of fun.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
Skyfallen has its roots in Westerns, so people who like cinematic westerns are a potential fanbase. I include horror, steampunk, and gothic elements, so if your venn diagram of interests includes those things then it might be for you.
Things I like that influenced or feel like this story: Silverado, The Magnificent Seven, RIPD 2 Rise of the Damned (movies. I hate to admit that last one but it was fun). Deadlands (TTRPG game. I created Phil for this setting). The Dark Tower novels--primarily Wizard and Glass but any of the parts dealing with Roland’s world.
There is zero romance. Phil’s ace, there is no main love interest, and anyone who gets together does so very off-screen.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
When writing the draft, the individual scenes flew out of my brain. I could hardly write them fast enough. In deep editing, though, it’s the big-picture stuff I find challenging. Which themes do I want to emphasize and which are less important? Do I really need all this buildup or should I start later? I need to show certain things so the later ones make sense, but that makes it even longer. It’s already very long; shouldn’t I be cutting things down? Argh. It's frustrating.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
There are animals. Most are utilitarian: Horses, dogs, cats, chickens, cows. There are monsters also (for certain values of “monster”) all along the continuum from “non-sapient animal” through to “self-aware human intelligence.”
The way they figure into the story is more interesting. In life, Phil liked animals in general and had a special fondness for horses and mules. After dying and coming back reanimated, animals can’t stand to be around them. Phil doesn’t figure it out right away, and it hurts when they do.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
For the area the characters are in for the bulk of the story, most people walk, ride horses, or ride in wagons, carts, or coaches pulled by horses or teams of horses. There are a couple of trains but they are rare. In other areas, trains are common, as are ferries and lake boats. Airships exist; they are novelties and considered simultaneously luxurious and dangerous. In larger cities, along with the horse-drawn vehicles, people have bicycles, rickshaws, pedal-powered rickshaws, and palanquins. Automatons in a variety of configurations may be subbed in for horses or people in any of those conveyances.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I’ve identified some specific foreshadowing that needs to happen. So I need to add that in. There are a few names that aren’t consistent; they’re flagged so I can fix them. I need to put in a few encounters so later ones make sense. It’s not exactly foreshadowing so much as worldbuilding. So editing stuff.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
I have a hard time identifying tropes in my work, probably because I’m in the trees, so to speak, and can’t see the forest. Or groves, to push the metaphor. Having said that, here’s an attempt:
Portal/isekai
Found family
Unlikely group of heroes
Humans can be evil; monsters can be sympathetic
Religion, Magic, and cults
Monsters dwelling among humans
Enemies to not-friends (don’t push your luck)
Things get worse
Everyone has secrets
Lost memories, memory tampering
Weird West
Steampunk and Gothic Horror
Gunslinger/trick shot
Noble Demon/antihero
Good is not nice
I did come up with one of those taglines that you might see on the bottom of the cover of a book:
“Every Skyfallen has something they want to forget. And everyone in the Mistlands is Skyfallen.”
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
Originally I was hoping for traditional publishing. I might still try to go that way. I’m also looking into self-pub, and websites that host serial stories. I think this story fits better into a serial format than a traditional book format. I need to make it more coherent (hence editing phase)

i'd love a director's commentary on Meetings in the Mountains, please? really anything you'd want to talk about, the writing, the idea, the lore, or even a particular detail :)
There is so much lore for that little ficlet.
It is a Writer's Month prompt fill, so it was never going to be a very long fic because there is limited time to write and many things to write, but had the idea struck at a different point I could definitely see it as a long fic instead. I've had a few related to that fic daydreams since, I haven't had any to write ideas for it, but it's also kind of tempting to use the wider concept for an original novel one day so it's just sitting in the back of my mind for now.
Meetings in the Mountains is set in a world that has spent most of its time as a high fantasy world, but it's slowly been changing to a steampunk sci-fi world (the steampunk is admittedly mostly for the Victorian style bicycle clothes). The cities have been leading that, and Iris is a city person, but she's heading out into the wilder mountains that are currently mostly untouched by this genre shift, which is where Cisco (a witch and a seer) and Barry (a werewolf) live.
This fic itself only goes into their first meeting, which is the only properly set thing I have, but it does end with them all agreeing to head to the city, where they will become urban fantasy protagonists in a sci-fi world, and if I ever do write anything else there will need to be lots of research via reading to have this almost culture clash and disconnect between the two genres because this world as its changing doesn't really have room in it for magic any more, or characters like Cisco and Barry. Barry especially- Cisco is very interested in science and magic and trying to blend the genres together, whereas Barry is content to fade away.
Which is where his rivalry with Eobard comes in. He takes offence to being mistaken for a familiar, and that's because of his history with Eobard, or as Barry calls him, his "little sorcerer". So, Eobard is a sorcerer and born with magic (all sorcerers are, it's caused by magic being used somewhere between conception and the baby's first breath, something that was actually banned after a particularly bad sorcerer around a hundred years ago at the start of the genre shift, Barry knows a little more about that), he's the sort of person who in the old fantasy world would have been very, very powerful, but his parents live in the new steam punk world and did resort to using magic when convinent, but it's a dying art and hardly something a Thawne should be pursuing, they certainly aren't going to encourage Eobard's natural talents.
Eobard is around ten when he first meets Barry- injured and stuck in his wolf form because of that- in the woods, and he brings Barry home because he's ten and his parents immediately refuse this, and Eobard yells and somewhere in this his wild and uncontrolled magic kicks in and he accidentally binds him and Barry together in a way usually reserved for witches and familiars. Things generally don't go well after this, and Eobard ends up living with a pack of werewolves, basically being raised by Barry (he's a older than he looks. That thing about dogs aging seven years for every one human year is reversed for werewolves. Or maybe not as many as seven, I didn't settle on that either, but Barry is Old).
And things are good for a while, and then Eobard gets older and he resents being shoved out, he wants to fight this genre change, and Barry does not, Barry is fine with it just washing over and slowly disappearing, and they clash over this, Barry's scars come from Eobard hitting him with a lightning bolt, Eobard has scars on his arm from Barry's claws, and Eobard leaves Barry where he found him, injured in the woods.
Where Cisco finds him, takes him home, and helps heal him, and they fall in love. Cisco's seer abilities he might have been born with, that I didn't decide, but witchcraft is learnt rather than innate, and Cisco is very keen on learning more about how to blend magic and science rather than the two fighting against each other, and Barry isn't sure about that either, but he loves Cisco enough to follow him anywhere, and if this S.T.A.R. Labs project sounds like something he's been trying to do for ages, Barry will go to the City with him.
But Cisco has been dreaming about Eobard as well as Iris, and this blending the two does not sound like Eobard's desired outcome...
I do know this would develop into Barriscowest, if it went further. I have a vague idea the evil sorcerer from before is Malcolm Thawne and the magic cast at his birth was the same that turned Barry into a werewolf, but who knows. I think Barry and Eobard are probably still bonded at this point, though it's strained after their fight, but they do both still care about each other even if they're both reluctant to admit it (Eobard especially). There is just so much room to play around in this world, and even if I do leave it as it is and never write anything else about it, I am enjoying the odd daydream.
Thank you!

I made a post about a year ago now probably saying I didn't have any ideas for prsk mixed events anyway i do have ideas now.
I still want an animal event. SIF is dead now and there’s no more animal costume sets in the world. Plot doesn’t have to be deep it can just be hanging out at a zoo or something. Anyway: cat Airi, platypus Rui, hamster Kohane, penguin Haruka. Bunny Mafuyu if you want as well. Could work with MinoKoha as well because they’re in the animal caretaker club.
TANABATA EVENT. Please be the June->July lim event. Why has prsk not done one of these yet?? Anyway these cards are always so pretty in other games so project sekai should do one. Idc who’s on the banner they just need to do a tanabata event. Thank you.
Rooftop event. I want an event that just studies Mizuki and Rui’s time in middle school vs now under a microscope. Neither of them have second mixed banners yet so there is hope. Throw in Ena and Tsukasa as well because I love parallels a normal amount.
MafuHona event. Listen, they are so similar I need them to have an event about it. They both would do anything anyone wanted and it destroyed Mafuyu’s identity and caused Honami to leave her friends. You ever think about how Mafuyu wanted to be a nurse and Honami wants to be a caregiver. Yeah. Also you can put Kanade and Saki in if you want (this was my wedding event prediction but then Mafuyu got a lim)
Cat Cafe. Okay honestly this probably works better as a mmj event but then again they had the penguin cafe event so mixed could work actually. Not to say cat Airi again but I’m going to say cat Airi again. Or you could do this with MinoSaki since they work at the cafe.
Gardening club event. Is Rui the only known member of the gardening club? Yes. Do i care? No. Give us a set with dungarees and cute wellies please it’d be worth it colopale. Also I want a Rui and Saki event (i did have an explanation for this but then I forgot what it was) and I think Saki would suit this kind of costume.
MizuAn event. I think something to do with fashion could be fun. Street style Mizuki and lolita style An do you see my vision? Shinonome sibs could go here as well since they both like fashion.
Continuing the trend of “double date” events, I think ShizuAiri + Shiho & a Leo/need could be funny. Yeah that’s all I have to say about this one.
Wait project sekai has never had an ice cream parlour event before has it? Ohoho this could be a great one. Mmm… I think Saki would be a good fit on the note that this is interchangeable with diner theme and have you seen her new birthday card it is so retro diner coded. Actually this would be cute as a Tenma sibs event.
Steampunk event. This is just because I like steampunk and need something better than 3/5 of the Revival cards. I still think it fits with Rui though.
Phantom Thief. I am still salty that they put Phantom Thief in the title for the first White Day event and then made a knights set. Tbf this would probably work better as a WxS set but it could be a fun mixed event. I don’t really know who would go on this banner.
Holy shit this got long so I’m just gonna end it here. Anyway none of these are ever going to happen but if you read all that then have a cookie 🍪

Saw you were thinking of doing more point and click adventure games and I have a few suggestions!
Primordia :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YvWQi_5fsw
Honestly I think it would be right up your alley.
On the more horror side
Excavation of Hob’s barrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-1C_9RQJb8
Kathy Rain : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aW1YcrEc0M
A little more on the fantasy fanciful side
Beyond The Edge of Owlsgard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXeHb_dN9qo
Wytchwood : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufvmbqHVbLY
Though that one is a little closer to a crafting game.
Enjoy :D
--------
THANK YOU!
Sorry it took me awhile to read this submission. I’ve been adding a lot of Adventure Games to my “to play” list lately. Mainly cause of PushingupRoses and their new Podcast “Save Your Game” so I recommend giving that a listen if you’re up for any game recommendations, Modern or Old.
So I’ll go down this line and look at the trailers to see if I’m interested.
Primordia:
Tumblr media
OH GOD! Primordia’s art style reminds me of like Dark Seed. Which is appropriate cus I think Geiger did the artwork on that game. (darkseed not this) but it also reminds me of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with it’s art direction. I might just check it out for the Bug, Goth Steampunk style alone.
Excavation of Hob’s barrow:
Tumblr media
I’ve heard of this game! It was actually brought up and Discussed in the “Save your Game” podcast and I looked up the art and thought about giving this one the old college try. I love me a good mystery and gothic horror intrigue. Definitely one to keep in mind.
Kathy Rain:
Tumblr media
I actually did play this one! Well, I played it once, and it was the original, not the Directors Cut. I don’t know what changes the Directors Cut made, and since I only played it once, I don’t really remember a lot of the puzzles or how it concluded. But I loved the atmosphere and I just love that the 90s was so long ago, that modern Adventure Games can like use it for a retro setting now. I want to see a lot more games take place in the 90s. Like the 80s had their turn, and I love scifi and the future, but we just need more games set in that weird era of leaking out of the 80s and dissolving to grunge. I think a small town community in the 90s is a good setting for a game in general. I should give Kathy Rain another go, it’s still in my steam library untouched.
Beyond the Edge of Owlsguard:
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!  My little inner furry absolutely LOVES this. Like the juxtaposition of a somewhat realistic Pixel art background, blended in with the super cartoony look of Anthro animals just has me instantly hooked on the artstyle alone. Like it looks like one of the more sillier games in tone of Monkey Island or Sam and Max hit the Road and that is fine by me! The graphic interface is very old school and it seems to be very self aware of the adventure game genre. I don’t doubt things will get dark and serious by how they introduced the main threat but... Like I will probably just pick this up for the art style alone!
Wytchwood:
Tumblr media
Ah this looks really interesting. It really reminds me of Cult of the lamb weirdly. With crafting and dungeon elements. I might give it a go, but it doesn’t capture my interest immediately like some others.
Also, I’ll drop a recommendation I’ve heard of:
Perfect Tides
Tumblr media
The year is 2000. You’re a teenager. You only have online friends and you’re trying to navigate puberty and the world of sex. Some people might not like that kind of thing, especially if they cringe hard at second hand embarrassment, but from what I’ve heard, this whole thing is like a mix of “Night in the Woods” and “Watamote” more the later then the former. I heard that this game isn’t afraid to make it’s main character utterly unlikeable and it’s a real coming of age story. And like, what it’s like to be alone as a teenager only having online friends to seek companionship with. I honestly can’t wait to try out this one. It looks like an existential time and a half.

The Sci-fi subplot in Amulet feels kind of dislocated with the rest of the story. It's hard to describe properly, but imagine baking a cake, you wanted to add tomatoes to the cake but you forgot to add them during the mixing process, so instead you use tomato sauce as the frosting for it and now it tastes like an evil pizza because you also added cheese on top. That's like the main story and the subplot together, not the best mix.
It's probably just me but, I feel like the robots and stuff in the later books tend to feel like they're from another story. At least the early books had more of a steam punk feel in the world building and such but later it feels like advanced technology just popped out of nowhere. It feels less like a fantasy story with a few elements to make it It's own thing and more of a mess of genres from magic, to tech, to a bunch of aliens and stuff.
It feels so disorganized to me, and I'm not really the best critic but I feel like they shouldn't have even had that many Sci-fi elements in the first place. The alternate world, old robots, and steampunk like style to some parts of the story would've been enough. I don't know, I'm probably just rambling here but the Sci-fi parts just feels awkward to me, especially with the already established fantasy setting. I'm not saying that Sci-fi and Fantasy genres don't mix well, they can go well together in fact, but when you don't add the ingredients properly the final product will come out unsatisfying.
In conclusion, I feel like it was either wasted potential or nowhere near potential when it came to the Sci-fi stuff

“What’s your plan, knowing you have only 66 days to live?”
This journey began with Rainblood: Town of Death, an indie game I made back in 2010. The development process was a creative outlet for me as an architecture student, first in Beijing and later New Haven.
When I returned to China, I founded my own development studio, S-GAME, and Rainblood grew into a franchise that would later become Phantom Blade. Most of these titles were for smartphones and never released outside of China, but we still managed to build a fan base of over 20 million players.
Now, allow me to introduce Phantom Blade Zero, the spiritual rebirth of the original Rainblood and the game we always wanted to make.
Kung-Fu Punk
Phantom World, the universe in which the game is set, is a place where many kinds of powers converge. Here you’ll find Chinese Kung-Fu, intricate machines reminiscent of steampunk, arts of the occult, and other intriguing elements that don’t quite fit into any of these categories.
In Phantom Blade Zero, you play as Soul, an elite assassin serving an elusive but powerful organization known simply as “The Order.” Soul is framed for the murder of The Order’s patriarch, gravely injured in the ensuing manhunt, and, though his life is saved by a mystic healer, the makeshift cure will only last for 66 days. Now, he must fight against powerful foes and inhuman monstrosities, all while seeking out the mastermind behind it all before his time runs out.
From Louis Cha’s Wuxia stories and Bruce Lee’s films to Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once and Donnie Yen in John Wick: Chapter 4, Phantom Blade Zero draws on a wide range of martial arts icons, but with a twist of its own. What we call “Kung-Fu Punk” instills a heavy dose of punk spirit and our unique visual aesthetic.
