forever and always mourning what fate: the winx saga could have been. i have never been this disappointed in my life, even to this day.

this show had SO much potential to be something amazing but it's just like every other "teen" show these days. literally, i promise you girls can be friends and don't have to be bitchy to each other. i promise you, girls can have drama without it being centered around a boy.

they took everything that made winx club good and completely threw it out the window.

There was a doll in the storeroom and it looked exactly like me.

I stared at it, it stared back, and I thought, This is way too much work for three in the morning, yeah?

To which my cramped-up neck and quicksand of a back from several years of refusing to cave in to True Relief! 15% off for a double-wing ortho-lumbar back support to save the wreckage called your spine today! adverts vehemently said, yes.

So I took one final look at my doppelganger in miniature, dropped the broom I had barely but—probably—desperately needed to use on my trashbin house, and proceeded to stop, drop, and roll back to bed.

Eh, I’ll deal with it in the morning, I decided.

I did not deal with it in the morning. Or any other time of day for the next month. I continued to barely scrape through my admin job down the road—as a professional job hopper, I was probably set to enter every industry humanity had to offer at least once; only marine and law left—and continued to drive my boxroom flat further into shambles.

Which was. Not great. I definitely should not be doing that.

In a ranking of 1 to 10, it most definitely lay in the pit of a 1.

Time skipped along anyway.

When my friends call, I wait till the ring runs out. When they text, I leave their messages unread. When I eat, I don’t ask the delivery man to sit down and split the meal with me.

Halfway through another month—when did that happen, how was winter already here, what happened to the heat of summer?—my parents finally had enough and called my friend who called his girlfriend who called my colleague who called me, just to ask what happened and where have you been and do you need anything?

I didn’t know how to answer them. Nothing happened, I said. Work’s been hectic, is all. I’ll come back for Gramma’s birthday, I promise.

Nothing happened. I’m just tired.

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

I love this game.

can I just say the entire front half of episode 7 chapter 8, because everything about it was BONKERS in the most absolutely delightful way. genuinely this might have been the funniest single update yet. we got Idia's directorial debut! big stronk Epel! and. just. gestures to the entirety of SavanaRook. (then Vil went into a spiral of murdering people that culminated in punching the manifestation of his own insecurity in the face, and that was good in an entirely different kind of way, but I digress)

if I have to pick one though, I'm gonna go with Idia's video, because 1) adorable, 2) seriously just look at it, and 3) I did legit have to replay that subchapter on account of laughing over most of it the first time. truly Idia is the artistic genius of our generation.
