Yuri on Ice was such a life changing anime, especially to have experienced in real time waiting for those episodes to drop every week. It was an open acknowledgment and love letter to queerness, to valuing and creating art, to loving yourself and loving those around you and it’s no surprise that it had such a large impact on those who watched it. Not to mention how stunning it was to be presented with an open letter to queer love during a time where same sex marriage and gender equality was still a very hot and controversial topic. It’s, in its own way, nestled itself into history.
It may not be in the way we all expected or hoped, but see you next level.
If anything, I feel the urge to write more Yuri On Ice fanfiction. To keep reading amazing Yuri on Ice fanfiction. To draw more Yuri on Ice art. To purchase more doujin and support work of talented people who still create Yuri on Ice content/stories.
Yuri!!!on Ice is eternal.
The fandom made it timeless. And the fandom will keep it alive, no matter what happens.
No, I am genuinely so pissed off at MAPPA rn because how to you take a series that was the main reason you become such a huge success, continues to be talked about almost a decade later, and can essentially be described as one of the shows that shaped anime history and decide- not only to lead on that dedicated fan base for YEARS but to CANCEL this massive project on a random Thursday night/Friday morning. And to even have the AUDACITY to write your statement the way that they did, as a quick "oh well, see you later."
I sure hope they enjoy that JJK and CSM money while they can cause who knows. If their biggest show could be dropped so carelessly, who's to say they won't do it again.

isn’t it ironic that the media will never understand victor’s personal perspective at his prime despite being so dearly beloved and in the same way us viewers will never get to understand him either because all we have of that is a clip of him skating and yuuri (a fan’s perspective)
i truly am heartbroken over the cancellation of ice adolesence. yuri on ice skyrocketed mappa and is the reason the studio is as big as they are today, yet after all the continued support from fans, they cancelled it after SEVEN years. they could've made the cancellation announcement in 2020 when it was clear it would be cancelled, but they strung people along for another FOUR years. this was the show that got me into anime when i was 13, now i'm nearly 21 and it still remains my favourite. mappa fumbled bad on this one and i hope they realise it from the uproar of tweets and posts made by the fans
