Daniel Radcliffe Says J.K. Rowling's Anti-Transgender Stance 'Makes Me Really Sad'
People reports on Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe feeling sad about JK Rowling's transphobia:
"It makes me really sad, ultimately, because I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic," Radcliffe said of Rowling and her controversial comments about gender.
"Jo, obviously Harry Potter would not have happened without her, so nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person," he added. "But that doesn’t mean that you owe the things you truly believe to someone else for your entire life."
Radcliffe also responded to Rowling recently writing on social media that he and his costars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint can "save their apologies" and she wouldn't forgive them for their differing points of view. Radcliffe told [The Atlantic]: "I will continue to support the rights of all LGBTQ people, and have no further comment than that."

My biggest fandom flexes:
I met Simon Farnaby when I was about nine at a charity thing (I was on a train and did get an autograph on a sheet of paper but can’t find it, it was for Paddington 2), Lauren Lopez once replied to one of my comments and (for the Harry Potter fans) I was briefly in the same room as Rupert Grint (was very young so didn’t talk to him). Also, I met the guy who was the main character in Nativity 4, so I’m like three or four people away from David Tennant (I may be a little bit delusional with the logic but it still holds up)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
Few series end on the same gratifying note as the Harry Potter franchise. Spanning a whopping 8 films (the last book being split into two), it remained remarkably consistent. At worst, the stories were workmanlike translations of J.K. Rowling's books, or a bit too fan-oriented. Now that we're at the end, what a journey it's been. With all of the exposition laid out in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, Part 2 can jump right into it and deliver everything we’ve been anticipating.
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) continue their search for the horcruxes - magical objects in which Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) has hidden pieces of his soul. As the trio scrambles to find the artifacts and a way to destroy them, they realize their quest will bring them back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, now governed by Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) and the rest of Voldemort’s Death Eaters.
After the persistent dread of Part 1, our heroes can finally enjoy a glimmer of hope. It isn’t going to be easy but finally, we feel ready to tackle the big bad… for the most part. The film, the characters and the audience always remember that our main characters are teenagers. They may have faced - and survived - enormous dangers but it’s always been through a combination of their wits, ingenuity, and a lot of dumb luck. There are no teachers to fall back upon now; it’s just the three of them desperately piecing together the last clues handed to them by their late headmaster. As we reach the finale, everyone we’ve met over the years gets to play a part. Emphasis on everyone. As before, you need to have seen all of the previous chapters, understand the lore, remember who was the teacher of this class X years ago, why this character was important to Ron or Hermione, how we felt about this person when we met them versus now, etc. In a movie with Part 2 in the title, you know this going in.
The film works because we have already invested time and effort into it, because we have spent years watching and revisiting these people and these places while eagerly awaiting the ultimate showdown. All of the characters returning - even if it’s just for a tiny moment - makes you feel like you’re there too. This fight isn’t just about the boy who lived anymore, it’s about all of us.
Let's pause to think about what a monumental task this was for director David Yates. Going in, all of your feelings and expectations are amplified. The second that familiar theme by John Williams comes in, you reach for the tissues. This could be the last time we hear it - ever. Still, it wouldn’t have been worth the wait had the scale been wrong. This is the final battle between a 17-year-old and an irredeemably evil wizard with a snake face but you don’t want it to feel silly, you want it to be epic - and it is. In the action scenes, you’ll have difficulty sitting still. You'll be too busy wringing your hands in nervousness, moving from side-to-side trying to dodge the spells flying throughout the air or punching into the air to show your support for our heroes.
There are a few character’s stories which are not completely resolved - Timothy Spall’s Peter Pettygrew for example. I would've rather seen those ends tied than the epilogue. If I were to fish around for more criticisms you could also say that no, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is not REALLY a film, it’s HALF a film. Does that take away how frightening it gets, or how joyous it make you feel when things are going well for our beloved trio? Does it make the tragedies any less devastating or the battle any less epic? No. The series has grown up since the lighthearted whimsy and innocence of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone all those years ago. It’s built upon itself, expanded its world, gotten us to fall in love with its characters and enchanted audiences. Never more than in this final chapter. (On Blu-ray, November 15, 2019)

i met rupert grint once and he was very annoying, so i like to think ron got sidelined in ootp because jkr was fed up of rupert too.
funny I guess, but if anon is serious obviously that's not what happened lol.
also, I read a disinterest in Ron's characterization in OOTP, but she clearly was very invested in Ron's character past that book especially considering she gave him one of the emotional weighty and significant story beats in the 7th book, so there you go. There's no reason to believe JKR doesn't love her three main characters and considers them the heroes and emotional core of the books. These books are about Harry primarily of course, but these books are about Harry, Ron, and Hermione. It's the best friend gang using love and trouble-making to defeat great evil, everything else in the books is to support that story.

Daniel Radcliffe breaks silence on Rowling's anti-trans stance
Daniel Radcliffe has spoken out about the breakdown of his relationship with Harry Potter creator J.K Rowling.
A recently published article by The Atlantic marks the first time the actor has publicly commented on Rowling in the wake of her prolific transphobia.
Radcliffe’s dispute with Rowling dates back to the author’s infamous 2020 tweets.
In the tweets, Rowling called out an article with the phrase “people who menstruate”, arguing “if sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction.”
Radcliffe subsequently issued a statement through LGBTQ+ organisation the Trevor Project.
“Transgender women are women,” the statement read.
“Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.”

Radcliffe reflects on breakdown of Rowling relationship
Now, Radcliffe has spoken publicly about why he chose to publicly speak out against Rowling.
Radcliffe told the Atlantic: “I’d worked with the Trevor Project for 12 years and it would have seemed like, I don’t know, immense cowardice to me to not say something.
“I wanted to try and help people that had been negatively affected by the comments. And to say that if those are Jo’s views, then they are not the views of everybody associated with the Potter franchise.
“A lot of people found some solace in those books and films who were dealing with feeling closeted or rejected by their family or living with a secret.”
Radcliffe added that he has had no contact with Rowling since the controversy erupted.
“It makes me really sad, ultimately, because I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic,” he said.
In 2020, Radcliffe was joined by Potter co-stars Watson and Rupert Grint who both released statements.
“There’s a version of ‘Are these three kids ungrateful brats?’ that people have always wanted to write, and they were finally able to,” Radcliffe told The Atlantic.
“So, good for them, I guess … Obviously, Harry Potter would not have happened without [Rowling], so nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person.

So yeah we went to see M. Night Shyamalan's
new masterpiece the ominous Knock at the Cabin.
I don't want to say too much about it
being I don't want to ruin anything or
give anything away.
but I did like it I thought it was great
it wasn't really scary it was creepy
and I guess it could be kinda scary it was
more situational horror in a way like I
think it would be terrifying if you were
in that situation. I felt it was more
intense then anything like it was that slow
burn type of thing where it keeps building
the tension as the movie goes on.
As you probably know the basic story of the
movie is this family rents out like a cabin
for the weekend or whatever out in the middle
of the woods. They are on a weekend get away
or on vacation and then 4 random strangers
show up and force their way inside
and bring with them a message that someone
inside the cabin must be sacrificed to prevent
the end of the world and for each time they
refuse a cataclysmic event will happen.
The way its written is really nice it
gives you a bit of doubt in who these
strangers are, like there are moments
where you think that this is real and
they are telling the truth but there is
others that just makes them seem totally
crazy. You don't get to know much about
the strangers other then what they tell
you about themselves it could be the truth
or it could be just lies you never know..
you do know to know more about the
family that was staying there though
you get to lean about them through
a series of flash backs. Who they are,
how they met, how they adopted their daughter
and how they ended up at the cabin.
I thought the acting in this was
great especially from Dave Bautista
(or Batista as I know him) who plays
Leonard the some what leader of the
group of strangers his gentle calmness
alone comes off as extremely disturbing
through out the movie but but Batista
does shine in this role as does everyone
else

I am a film buff!! One of the older Hollywood films I’ve seen is Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” which I love to poke fun at. Fave actors and actresses change pretty often but some classics are Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson.
I LOVE Halloween. I love the warm feeling christmas brings too but something about Halloween just gets me. I used to combine them for the longest time. From September thru Dec 26 was deemed ChristmasO’Ween!

I find zodiac and astrology interesting but I am by no means an expert or even mediocre at it ahhaha. But I’m a Taurus!

Hmmm I’m a big fan of sentimental gifts. One friend got me a plush Dino that I had mentioned liking this one night. We had gone out because my ex cheated on me and my friend came to cheer me up. Fun fact about KB - I’ve met a TON of celebrities. Chris Hemsworth, Sebastian Stan, the BBC Sherlock Cast, some old school YouTubers. ALSO DUH OMG Joseph Quinn, Grace Van Dien, Jamie Campbell Bower. But the best story by far is when I met Rupert Grint

Harry potter deathly hallows part 2 movie
The kids are all right - and their creator is richer than the queen. There is family, acceptance, and social justice. You exhale at the close of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 as you do at Dickens. Will there be no end to his humiliation? There will. Is shame the key to the whole Potter series? We see Harry prove himself over and over and still wind up an outcast, a victim of his birth and even his own celebrity. The young actor I'll miss most is Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood, with her queerly fluted monotone. Find out how to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. Goodbye to Maggie Smith and all those royal bit players. Goodbye to Rickman, who conveys Snape's tortured soul by inserting supernaturally longer pauses between syllables. Goodbye to Ralph Fiennes's Voldemort, who slowly evolved from primordial slime but stopped at the reptile stage and is here like a drug-addled rock star in his final days, surrounded by sycophants like Helena Bonham Carter in a fright wig. The climax is fully realized: the blitzkrieg-like attack on Hogwarts, the revelatory flashback involving the past of Alan Rickman's Professor Snape, and the final duel, rich in mythic splendor. Deathly Hallows - Part 2 features his and cinematographer Eduardo Serra's most expressive work, which you don't need to see in 3-D to be awed by. The director of movies 5 through 8, David Yates, goes for deep-toned Gothic horror, which doesn't make for highs and lows but a steady aura of doom. Movie Reviews In Which We Don't Quite Get To The Horcrux Of It Then Radcliffe went naked in Equus on Broadway and Watson went to Brown and dropped out and became a fashion plate. We met them when they were little and watched them go through puberty and have their first snogs. We also need a final look at Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione and Rupert Grint as Ron. Here's a case where movies can add a bit of magic. In the novel, the climactic wand-off between Harry and Voldemort is notably lacking in grandeur. Rowling, good as she is, isn't a prose stylist: The films put interesting faces to names and fabulous designs to humdrum descriptions. In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The opening midnight screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 were completely sold out, even though most people knew the ending. And along with millions I had to know who lived and who got Avada Kedavra'ed as Potter-ites say. OK, I was one of 'em but it was Friday, I didn't have to get up the next morning. No, it's not as momentous a day as the one in 2007, when lunatics the world over queued up at midnight to buy the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After a decade of saying it, I might never have cause to say it again.
