I know I’m a bit late to the party, and this topic has already been discussed by others… but I wanted to add my own thoughts/opinions regarding Lesson 35.

Personally… I think Mammon is absolutely correct :

Maybe Lucifer won't be fully controlled by his own powers, but it's extremely possible that he's being heavily influenced by them.

I'll go a step further and say I firmly believe that, although Lucifer may be better equipped at controlling himself/hiding the fact that his sin is starting to take over compared to his brothers, he IS still being greatly affected by his pride.

I previously said that Lucifer genuinely seems so manipulative and borderline controlling now (moreso than ever).

I also said that I strangely like that side of him not just in a kinky way either lol. I just truly mean that, generally speaking.

Why?

Because doesn’t it fit Lucifer perfectly?

I mean, think about it :

A prideful demon such as Lucifer couldn’t possibly be wrong. His viewpoint is the only thing that should make sense. His opinions matter, his advice and decisions should be accepted with the utmost gratitude. Because Lucifer knows best.

He’s right.

Call me crazy, but I feel like all of that plays in so well with the power struggle going on between Lucifer and MC right now.

(In reality, I would be butting heads way more with Lucifer. Simply because I am a pretty stubborn person, and I would challenge his idea that he knows me better than I know myself..... Yes, I still haven't let that go lol)

But I’m most excited for what may happen next…. because I wonder if Mephisto’s arrival will end up fueling Lucifer’s sin.

We all know how much Mephisto dislikes Lucifer.

And it’s bad enough that Mephisto is going to successfully interrupt a private trip between Lucifer and MC… but if Mephisto starts questioning and/or contradicting Lucifer, inserting himself in their conversations, acting like he knows more than Lucifer… perhaps it will lead to Lucifer’s pride consuming him.

After all, who is Mephisto or anything else to question or challenge the Avatar of Pride?~

Plus if MC is directly involved, I’m positive that will only exacerbate matters.

Well… either way, MC will be involved because we have to save our favorite sadistic old man haha xD

Anyway!

I am seriously looking forward to the next Lesson.

Maybe I’m a bit of a sadist myself for saying this, but I kinda really want to see Lucifer struggle to control his sin to the point where he absolutely needs MC’s help.

At the very least, it would be a good reason for Lucifer to potentially give in/change his mind and finally make a pact with us.

Either way, I’m excited for what will come next (:

Happy New Years, y'all. 2023 hath arrived, and so I'm looking back at my art from 2022.

It's pretty apparent my switches in focus over last year, I think. Most of the first half I had just joined Tumblr, so I was just drawing Amajiki largely, then I decided to draw some Sky:Cotl. May/June my old DnD campaign stopped meeting, and a new one started up in the same breath, so I was busy drawing my characters. July? Art Fight. The later half of the year school started back up, and by then @neonsix67 and I were on a roll w/ our dca drawings. (Sept and Oct I mostly only did rough sketches of the dca, or they'd be there lmao-).

To be entirely clear, 2022 was actually one of my best years. I really connected with a few close friends, I decided what I want to do with my life, had a great internship, started posting here and met a bunch of awesome folks, and I even managed to do a bunch of cool stuff with my bestie. There were some bad patches. (Can confidently say, Technoblade passing away was one of the roughest moments of grief I've had in a long time.) However, the bad comes with the good, and I'm building myself up from where it knocked me down.

All I can say, is don't expect me to go anywhere! I'll be using this place as a way to properly express my interests still, and boy are they expanding! Old projects, new projects, the whole shebang!

So, with the first new sketch of 2023, you're stuck with me. Enjoy!

Born to adventuring couple Orlen Stryker and Altun of the Mol tribe, Kat's mother fell ill soon after Kat was born due to an injury that she had received from a fight that had become infected. Unable to travel the distance back to her tribe, they returned to Orlen's home of Ishgard to settle down and raise their daughter while Altun recovered. Unfortunately Altun never recovered and passed away a year after Kat's birth, leaving Orlen to raise their daughter alone surrounded by the judgement of his town without enough gil to travel back to the Steppe.

Kat grew up around constant bullying and harassment from the other children her age for her dragon-like appearance which left her with few friends her age. She ended up spending most of her time either at home or spending hours at the Athenaeum Astrologicum learning about the stars or the Skysteel Manufactory learning to build and tinker.

It wasn't a surprise to Orlen when Kat made her interest in adventuring known and by her nineteenth birthday Orlen had saved enough gil to buy her everything she needed to travel safely through Eorzea and a prayer she would be able to see her mother's homeland like Altun wished for her.

In celebration for the upcoming 10th anniversary of Black Sails, we would like to invite all of you to celebrate with us! The celebration will partake on January 21st through January 27th. Listen for the deep, almost-alien sound he emits at the 7-second mark. That’s how I imagine Soundwave sounding like when he’s locked his focus on someone or something.

As some of you already know, I am disheartened- though certainly not surprised- by the recent backlash against one Sparrow Oak Garcia for his recent transgression of *checks notes* having a mixed-to-negative opinion on zoos.

Part of me honestly feels a bit silly responding to any of this, but what are any of us here to do if not have opinions on fictional podcast characters. Anyways, I will get to the more important stuff, as obviously (if you've seen any of the criticisms I'm talking about) this ties back to Hero at the end of the day, but seeing as the first wave of hate I saw after the episode was largely to the effect of: "what the fuck does Sparrow have against zoos?", I would like to start by addressing that point briefly (and only briefly, as it's really not the sort of topic I care to discuss online), by saying that zoos and animal captivity more generally have a long history of being contested and criticized by animal rights activists, and that instances of animal abuse and neglect within zoos and other animal-based theme parks are anything but obscure. Furthermore, it feels worth noting that as of present less than 10% of zoos in the US are AZA-accredited. I say absolutely none of this with the intention of making any definitive statements on the nature of zoos, nor to judge people who do enjoy zoos, nor even to provide my own feelings on the matter. Rather, I offer this information only to explain that someone like Sparrow taking issue with something like zoos really isn't strange at all? And whether you agree with such a stance or not, it undoubtedly comes from a place of empathy. Moreover, I don't think we can honestly divorce Sparrow's take and compulsion to voice it from the metacontext that Sparrow is a character being played by Anthony Burch, you know, a vegan, who probably has his own views on the matter that may or may not differ from yours and mine.

Okay, on to more important matters. At the forefront of things I suppose is the assertion that Sparrow's behavior regarding Normal and the zoo and all that is hypocritical and perhaps even nonsensical in light of what Hero was going through at the time with her training. "He wouldn't take Normal to the zoo but he forced Hero to kill a deer with her bare hands?" Certainly the sort of statement that will elicit a strong emotive reaction from the fandom, but one that ultimately relies on a pretty major assumption, namely, that Sparrow acted as the primary organizer and perpetrator of Hero's training, one who supposedly felt no internal conflict towards the situation whatsoever, rather than instead serving as an enabler of it, who ultimately intervened but only after far too much damage was already done. Neither is a great thing to be, but there is absolutely a difference between both of these roles, and I think that Lark and Sparrow's respective behaviors over the course of the season point almost unanimously towards Sparrow being the latter and Lark the former.

(The above being a non-exhaustive list, of course)

The funny part about the whole zoo thing is that it only further corroborates the notion that Sparrow is someone who is sensitive to the suffering of others, and by extension only serves as more evidence that he most likely was not the one actively making Hero undergo the worst of what she had to do. Does this make him guiltless in the matter? Absolutely not, but it does point to Sparrow having issues that are fundamentally different from Lark's, and means that the instance with the zoo is not only consistent with Sparrow's characterization, but frankly not actually all that hypocritical if you look at it for more than a second. That is, there is a very important but simple difference between the situation with Normal and the zoo and that of Hero and the deer that accounts for the variances in Sparrow's behavior between both cases: Lark. Sparrow isn't okay with either situation, based on all the evidence we have so far of who he is as a person there is absolutely no reason to think that Hero's training is not something that deeply upset him- I mean for fuck's sake everything about how Sparrow raised Normal down to his name stems from not wanting his kids to have to live that kind of life. So why doesn't he put a stop to things sooner? Why does he let any of Hero's training happen at all? Again, very simply, because Sparrow cannot say no to his brother. I mean, he does eventually, given Hero's current status, and that change is an important and still ongoing facet of Sparrow's growth and his arc, but at the start of things it is something he struggles with even more than he does now, to his own suffering and detriment and of course even more so to Hero's. But did Sparrow himself "force Hero to kill a deer with her bare hands"? Almost certainly not, and I have to admit that I find it quite frustrating how quickly Lark vanishes from the collective conscious of the fandom when the time comes to assign accountability for matters concerning Hero. But then, who is Sparrow if not someone who takes the fall for his brother, apparently even in the fandom-space.

[Not that there isn't any nuance to Lark's utilitarianism, either. In general I feel as though discussion of the twins' biggest mistakes too often omits the acknowledgement of the fact that all of it has been to stop an eldritch horror responsible for the death and torture of millions of people, but anyways. Not what this post is about.]

I think that's mostly it lol. Got some thoughts on the family's policy on pets (and how it relates to the Hero thing but also to Beanie actually), as well as some remarks on Rebecca and how we really shouldn't be leaving her out of this discussion (I say, leaving her out of this discussion) but eeehhhhhhh y'all I'm especially low energy as of late eheh and mostly just wanted to speak my peace on a couple major things so let's cut it here for now I think :b

This was my first time doing an event like this and it would not have been possible without the encouragement of the faz-errific @littlechinaaru and @lil-lemon-snails. and after looking at tcb, the raws and this it seems that izuku is saying that afos vestige should've been permanently gone when izuku smashed through shigarakis hatred as it was suppressed within it. so then how was he able to come back?

now you can say that perhaps izuku was mistaken here and afo didn't actually disappear, but what keeps me from thinking that is how in 369 yoichi remarks that ofa and afo are resonating so I'm inclined to believe izuku would've felt vestige afo disappear for good. but then then who exactly is izuku facing right now?

tbh I am starting to think that whatever izuku is facing in shigarakis body is different than the original afo vestige that he fought earlier in the battle. we can see some kind of eye growing from the hole, and I think that's going to be important soon.

one explanation I've seen is that what izuku destroyed was afo the persona and what were now left with is afo the man. similar to how we have shigaraki and tenko, with tenko being shigarakis origin that was suppressed deep within, the thing izuku may be facing now is afos origin. this is the true afo that was buried deep underneath the villain persona he had built for himself. this is why we see him being more emotional.

another explanation I've seen is that this is a parasite that is disguising itself as afo right now. this theory is based off of believing that quirks are indeed a disease and the afo quirk is a parasite that controls afo. all of afo's actions we see him taking; abusing yoichi, wanting world domination, taking and giving quirks are him being puppeteered by this parasite. this theory asserts that the final boss will be that parasite that's been controlling afo for his whole life.

the third explanation I've seen is that this is the afo quirk being sentient and that it achieved quirk singularity so it has consciousness now.

a fourth explanation I've also seen floating around is that this is a third tenko personality that is hiding behind whatever's left of afo and is the culmination of his despair.

personally I like the first explanation the best. it would be a chance to show us more of afo's humanity and lead to a good conclusion for his character. obviously I'm not too crazy about any of the other possibilities as they aren't afo they're just something else taking control and I want a good conclusion for afos character. the one I like the least has to be the parasite one as it takes out all of the complexities of afos character and nuances and dumbs it down to just him being controlled. quite frankly I feel it would ruin him as a character all for a cheap parallel to how tenko was being controlled. plus there's a lot of holes in it as I feel garaki would've noticed something like this happening as he spent his life researching quirks. surprised to see how popular it got on twitter however.

anyways we'll just have to wait and see what happens as I think hori is preparing something big here.
