((HOo boy, I had fun - settling on a scene was tough though. With this blog's Solo pulling from the games and anime most, it's an interesting dance to incorporate as much lore from either media as possible, while fleshing out the details and making sense of it. I want to do Laplace too, but this ended up long enough, that I think I'll save that for a new post. This is a window into a particularly pivotal day for Solo, from long long ago.))
FLASHBACK: Aching eyes from bright sunlight that poured in through the pale-green air shuttle's sliding door, was the first greeting from this ground-dwelling destination to meet the passengers from Mu as they arrived for a diplomatic meeting that would inevitably unravel into unamusing discourse.
Solo followed from behind as the small crew of Mu officials ambled out onto a wide dusty circle. At 13 he was deemed mature and expected to take on the responsibilities of his noble position. Getting to know the world and involving himself in geopolitical discussions would be a start. But Mu’s tactician always wanted him to play along and read from a script; becoming furious if Solo changed any of the details.
It was too embarrassing to admit he hadn’t paid enough attention to what was happening between Mu and the tribes on the ground. But some of the things he’d had to say, never set well with him, and he at least knew from faces in the crowds that it didn’t set well with the tribes either. Mulling over that fact, Solo didn’t feel like involving himself this time, and the spectacle of this foreign town was enough to tempt him into skipping the day’s meeting altogether to go explore on his own; to get to know the people and sniff out some local treats.
The tactician; Mu’s master-planner, a tall old man, dressed darkly and with a hat like a tower on his head, flattened at the top, marched in front, expecting everyone to keep up with his long stride. He threw a few indignant sneers back at Solo for lagging behind, but didn’t waste any time waiting around.
Jagged megaliths with the visages of important people and revered animals; as though guarding the walkways, guided the visitors to a stone brick roadway populated by village-folk; merchants, carvers, toolmakers, and farmers all with their fare and animals to offer.
There was little hope of convincing the locals that Mu technology wasn’t all powered by some magic or divine force; even many of Mu’s people themselves still believed this. A small portion of the village dawned their most elaborate garb to dance, while musicians of woodwind and bone instruments played tunes almost magical in their own way. Such flamboyance was motivated by hopes of earning favor from their sky visitors, of course.
Each of the Mu officials strolled on, paying no heed to the garish ensemble, stopping only briefly to look back with steely eyes as they entered the tallest building for miles; a relic of stone architecture from a time when the floating continent of Mu was still rooted firmly in the ground; a mere hundred years prior. Newer construction surrounding it seemed oddly more primitive; distinguished by a framework of wood, mastodon tusks, and painted animal hides.
Rather than join his party inside, Solo took a turn on his own to walk further down the street. Breaking the sunlight induced glare, his eyes filled with wonder at the rocky scrublands, patched with temperate foliage and exotic flowers, then shifted to soaking in the sight of all the people; many of them thoroughly tanned, wrapped in lightweight yellow, green, orange, or red textiles, and leather garb. Camelids and barely tame village-dogs moseyed about the street, which narrowed, then broke off into a dead end marked by spiny overgrowth that trailed off in the direction of a distantly roaring waterfall from glacial melt.
As he kept his pace along the bustling street, the thought of moving aside for others hadn’t so much as cross his mind. In spite of the open airspace, the walkway was claustrophobic compared to the vast halls within the upper floors of Mu that he’d grown up in. Roughly brushing shoulders with folk disinterested in showing the noble Murian respect, however, struck Solo with the gut-wrenching sense that something had changed in the atmosphere; there was a rising tension distinctly in opposition to the affection, wonder, intrigue, and most importantly; respect, that his presence once garnered.
Suspicious and apprehensive eyes began to track his white-haired, ruby-eyed presence from all sides, and seemed to grow in number with every step. He had no choice but to stand out. Even the sheen of his perfectly angular earrings set him apart from the largely stone-age folk occupying this territory. Attempting to pay no mind to them, he chose a collection of produce to fixate on; legumes, wild grains, and various medicinal herbs sorted into piles atop mats, or stuffed into laboriously hand-woven baskets. The merchant’s most prized however, were dainty yellow-orange squash whose flowers had been hand pollinated to ensure a pure, sweeter new strain; a dozen of them to the side, clean and neatly ordered.
While small-scale efforts were made to farm on the floating continent, ground dwelling villages such as this one were agriculturally vital to Mu’s food line. Few peoples in the world had proven so dedicated to cultivating new resilient and appetizing crop varieties as here. It was both a necessity and a luxury Mu couldn’t afford to loose by getting into a war with.
“Give me your best one.”
Solo stiffly ordered, absentminded of his entitled tone; after all, why shouldn’t he want the best, when the best is what his people always seemed to expect of him? He was taken aback when the seller chided him for his complex, and refused to give him one unless he had something of value to offer, like his earrings, which was a definite no.
Unsettled, he made a silent turn, landing him unexpectedly in front of a much taller man, that suddenly reprimanded the young noble for his poor manners, sparking a whole onset of village-folk spitting their dissatisfaction with Mu in Solo’s general direction. Before anyone had even said a negative word, his innocent curiosity had already given way, replaced by a confused panic, that he fought to entirely conceal. Up to that point, he’d never personally encountered a crowd that would so readily turn on him; that would band together like this.
“You always get more than we could ever dream to ask for! Yet you have the nerve to want the best that we have!”
“You claim Mu is our security!? You threaten us with the very same power and weapons you claim to protect us with!”
“Do you even remember the villages that were burned for the sake of cooperation with Mu!? Or is that just another necessary sacrifice to you!?”
“The powers of Mu are unnatural! - This world would be better off without your kind, you monsters!”
Mu’s very recent exercise of dominance through displays of great destructive power across the world was likely to blame for igniting the sudden hostility. Offerings made to Mu that were once given out of love and hope of blessing, were now bribes for mere survival or an advantage over other tribes.
None took too kindly to being viewed as tools by much of the higher Murian caste. Some were bursting at the seams to make those feelings clear; viewing this moment as an opportunity to do so; to make a demonstration of one of Mu’s supposedly treasured individuals.
The now quite unpopular noble, snapped a reply,
“Isn’t that how the world works? - Those with power, get to make the rules! They can take what they want!”
Yet somehow, speaking only made him look more foolish to the crowd.
The fuss continued, yet fell into the background of Solo’s mind as an almost sly-looking young man, came within arm’s reach of the lone Murian, and with him, a few others trickled in to form a feisty-looking circle around their flustered visitor. Solo’s first instinct was to tuck his chin into the high teal turtleneck of his uniform, wishing he could just hide within an impenetrable shell, like some kind of turtle. Goading him on, the other young man questioned,
“So you think you can just do what you want huh?”
Without a second thought, Solo snapped back,
“Yes, I’ll do as I please.”
The other young man, keeping his smug cool, continued as though setting up some kind of hostile joke,
“Oh yeah, and what makes you so special?”
The Mu noble spewed whatever came to mind first, everything he said was going to be used against him at this point; but loosing his temper made it impossible to keep his mouth shut.
“The blood of Mu that courses through my veins!”
Swiftly came the interrogator's searing punchline,
“Mhm, and if that’s so valuable, maybe spilling it on the streets will finally pay for all the food and labor you’ve taken from my people!”
“Now tell me Mu child - If you really can see more than us with those unearthly eyes. Can you see this?”
Solo indignantly glanced around with puzzled frustration. But a mere second later the young man’s fist made a hard landing across the noble kid’s face. Enraged shock filled every ounce of Solo’s being, as he finally let out a sharp shout; though almost swallowing his own breath in the process,
“GAAAHH, I-I could take any of you on!”
The prompt response of the crowd was by no means reassuring for the loner in its middle. Someone interjected from behind,
“Shut up! Maybe you could. But not all of us together!”
With that, Solo felt his legs kicked out from behind. Others worked to keep him on the ground. As a soft faced wiry kid, Solo was tough, but against the gang surrounding him, he seemed more akin to a small bird surrounded by lions. They were rugged and strong, they knew they were always lifting more than their share of weight in this world.
The young Murian wasn’t ready for this; he wasn’t ready to just EM Wave change on a whim. Let alone, in the midst of such confusion. But enraged by the insults of the crowd, he used all his strength to prop himself back up with his arms, just to look them in the eyes.
“I’ll hunt you down! …I’ll-I’ll make you know what it really means to suffer!”
At that, they only beat him harder. Face to the bricks, Solo froze up completely, and by the time three thunderous shouts from the other Mu officials broke up the crowd, their child of Mu was already in a limp haze.
Solo hadn’t known true fear or suffering before this. It was his first taste; his first bite, and it made his stomach sick. No one had so much as asked him to think over the fate of the peoples that might’ve opposed Mu. The mere thought of opposing Mu was a pill so foreign, nothing could make him swallow it; they must have been enemies…
As the first of multiple incidents following a similar theme, Solo grew to immensely despise crowds.
Though word spread of decimated villages who opposed Mu’s total reign, many continued to view those of Mu as auspicious, brushing other tribe’s grievances off as rumors, or unconcerning to those that remained loyal to their empire.
However, Solo never got over the feeling that others could turn on him at any moment should Mu fail to ensure they felt blessed with fortunate harvests or secure infrastructure; or for that matter, any reason they wanted. Trusting others became an only barely surpassable obstacle for him.
… The reign of his people lasted only a mere three years after.

Dabi/ Touya Todoroki x Fem reader
Genre: Smut
Synopsis: You haven’t seen Dabi in a year and he seems to miss you a whole bunch.
words: 1.9k
Cw: minor manga spoilers, slight degrading, overuse of the word doll, you get walked-in on and I'm sure there's a word for that I just can't think of, voyeurism
The threat of being arrested loomed over your boyfriend's head since becoming a villain. Apparently, the fear of never being free again was stomped out by his ambition to overthrow his father.
So when he was captured during an ambush, you felt your heartbreak for him. No matter what had happened in his childhood, life in prison was the only outcome you could think would happen.
Your heart shattered when you were proven right.
You haven't seen Dabi in a year, he was constantly being transferred into higher security prisons. Not to mention the times you tried to visit but he was placed in solitary right before, his bad habit of getting into fights finally caught up to him.
The time made you think about all the nights you spent laying under the stars talking about your future, a peaceful life, maybe a family. Or all the evenings you would dance around your living room in that shitty apartment as a soft waltz plays from the speaker. You’ll never get the chance to have a nice wedding or that baby girl, he would treat so well-
“Um, Y/n? You’ve been cleared to enter.”
Shooting your head up at the mention of your name you take notice of the guard holding the door to the visitation rooms open. You could feel his eyes on you as you placed the fashion magazine back into its place, before grabbing your small purse and walking over to the man.
He led you down a monotonous hallway bringing you to a stop before door number 12.
As he went to open the door he asked once more if you had anything in your purse that could aid in an escape of a high-class prisoner, you're sure the reminder of just who your boyfriend is was a dig at you. But you couldn't even care about that.
He warned you one last time before opening the door and stepping in, taking a second to stand there when a deep familiar voice rang out from the depth of the room,
“Dude, no offense but I was getting in the mood to see my girl, and seeing you really turned me off, where is she anyway?”  you rushed to step in immediately noticing the taunting smirk on his scarred face, “ah! There she is! How are ya Doll?”
Unable to hide your overwhelming rush of emotions, you almost ran towards the man, who promptly stood, letting you wrap your arms firmly around his waist. He maneuvered his still cuffed wrists over your head, pressing you into his body.
Slightly swaying your bodies, he lifted his head towards the guard, who was stationed in the corner by the door ( observation, a skill you picked up from one of Dabi’s impromptu survival lessons) raising his hands, “Man couldn't you undo these one time? They're ruining our reunion.”
You let out a soft, wet laugh at the humor that you missed so much, letting a sniffle out as he stuffed his cheek into your hair, eyes still burning into the guard.
“You know we can’t Mr. Todoroki, it’s against policy for high-class profiles”  You could tell this guy did not like you or your boyfriend and wanted to make sure you knew it.
At the excuse, Dabi let out a loud groan and spun you to sit on the couch adjacent to the chair he plopped himself onto. Settling from across from him you finally got to take a look at him, the look was reciprocated as he stared back at you.
He wasn't as skinny as you expected, that meant he was eating well, or as well as he could in this situation. His skin looked less blistered, definitely from the lack of quirk use. The staples on his hands were replaced with actual stitches and seemed to be healing.
But most notably was the white roots poking out of his dyed locks, something you would never see. He would dye his roots the second his natural color peaked through. It was almost like looking at a different person.
But his eyes, the slight upturn of his lips as he smirked back at you, and the deep chuckle when he noticed your stare. All telltale signs he was the same man you knew, and loved, for the last six years of your life.
“Whatcha lookin’ at doll?”
You couldn't help but let out a smile at the nickname, “Your hair, and your eyes, and your arms, and your, your everything. I can't believe it’s really you” Yu tried to laugh the last phrase out but your soft sobs got in the way.
He gave you a smile and held his arms out, making small ‘grabby hands’ at you, motioning you to come back into his arms.
“Well you didn't come all this way to just look at me, and, dude can’t you just take ‘em off for a minute. These things are totally ruining our moment”
Before the man could answer an intercom blared into the room a fight had broken out in the main corridor and they needed all guards in the area. Meaning he had to leave, at least for a few minutes.
He shot the both of you a look, reaching to grab his keys from his belt, opening the door, “I will be right back, I’m locking the door, the cuffs are staying on. The door will be locked until I come back, no funny business. Am I understood?”
You gave the man a curt nod as he shut the dock, as the lock clicked in place you were thrown onto the couch, your coat and purse threw to the floor. Dabi was looming over you in seconds, pulling his arms apart snapping the chain of his handcuffs.
“H-hey! What-”
“Doll, I haven't gotten off in a year and all of a sudden you show up and we were handed a golden opportunity I will not waste”  he growled as he slipped your top off.
Reaching behind you he unhooked your bra, throwing it into some corner of the room, something he’ll probably manage to sneak back into his cell with. He kneeled in between your legs leaning to take a nipple into his mouth, rolling the other, maintaining eye contact.
“Fuck I missed these, my head doesn’t give you credit, mouse” you missed this, you missed his voice, you missed the way he bit your neck as a hand reached down to maneuver your shorts down your legs.
He lifted his head, admiring the marks he left on your neck, pushing you to sit against the armrest. Then pulling your thighs to his shoulders pressing his face into your dripping core. Giving it a small lick and a guttural rumble from his throat. “Oh, baby you shaved just for me? Now I've got to give you a taste. And you’re just as wet as I remember”
Attaching his lips to your clit, giving it a suck, you followed his command of playing with your hard nipples aiding in the build of your orgasm. Reaching a hand to hand onto his colored locks, pulling him closer to you while tightening your thighs around his head. His chuckle sent shivers to your core, adding to the wetness.
His tongue was shoved deeper into your cunt as you clench around him, riding through your orgasm. Letting you fall onto the couch, painting as he released his cock from his boxers
“You know what to do Doll, get in position.”
You couldn't forget how he wanted you if you tried. It's been buried, fucked really, into you. You're sure you would have pulled your knees to your chest, opening yourself completely, presenting yourself to him, as he fucked you.
He laughed at your submissiveness, “I’ve trained you that well? All this time and you're still my cockwhore! Say it, tell me I was a bitch in heat you are for me.”
Instead of letting you answer he fully sheathed himself in your heat, his hips flushing against yours.
“I’m not hearing you talk Doll! ‘Cmon you’ve said it before, tell me how much you love my dick in your pussy.” he accompanied each word with a roll of his hips, brushing into your clit. Bringing a hand up to roll your nipple.
“I-i’m a whore for you cock, I’m a-a well-trained bitch in heat”
“Hah! Yes, you are, my bitch in heat!”
He was pounding you into the couch, thrusting with his entire body weight straight into your cervix. Your mind was a mess of his soft growls and the finger rubbing circles around your throbbing clit. Only knowing the feeling of his cock re-carving his way into your cunt.
Mid-thrust the door swung open and you could make out the face of the shocked guard frozen in the doorway. Dabi shot a glare over his shoulder at the intruder before letting out a mocking laugh as he slowed his hip, eliciting a whine from you.
In a second, Dabi fell back, dropping you onto his cock, facing the shocked guard, who was opening his mouth attempting to speak.
“Dude, don't just stand there,” Dabi mocked snapping the guard out of whatever trance he was in, he opted to step in and shut the door going back into his former stance, “ha! Give him a show doll!”
He helped you start off by picking up your hips and dropping you back onto his cock, settling you into a steady rhythm. When you try to hang your head and look into Dabi’s burning eyes, he seems to have other ideas.
He placed his hand under your chin and pushed your face to meet the eyes of your observer, “Not at me baby, give ‘em a show, it's what he stayed for afterall” keeping with your rhythm his other hand flew down to your clit, fondling with it, laughing when you let out a gasp of his name.
You felt eyes fall onto your bouncing breasts, taking Dabi’s words too great you reached a hand to play with your pebbles nipples, letting out a pornstar worth moan, and Dabi let out a fake moan to pair with yours.
As you felt the coil in your core begin to grow, you lost your pace opting to let Dabi bounce you on his cock until he took mercy and flipped you over, throwing a leg over his shoulder.
Sensing you were close Dabi aimed for the spot in your depths, “Please, gonna cum, Please, please!” the coil was getting tighter and your cunt was squeezing him.
“Go, whore” and with that you fell apart around his cock, milking his orgasm from him as he shoved his cum, farther into your cavern.
A minute of breathing passed before he peeled himself off you and glanced towards the guard who choked out a command to clean yourselves up and that you only had five minutes left. Scouring the room for your clothes, Dabi surprised you when he handed your bra back until you noticed him pocketing your panties.
After staying in his arms for whatever remaining time you had left, the same guard came back and yanked the man off you and replaced the broken handcuff, locking them on his wrists.
As he was escorted out he glanced back, winked, announcing, “Bye-bye Doll, wait for next time, I’ll stuff your throat full, ok? Just wait.”
Two weeks and he’ll have to make do on that promise.

Oikawa x reader - Hypnotic Manga Page
⚠️warnings - reader bein a sneaky lil hypnotist :^), second hand embarrassment?
Pronouns - genderneutral, they/them
Tumblr media
——————
‘Dear diary..’
(Y/n’s) hands trembled ever so slightly as their pen glided across their worn-out diary. The words “Property of (L/n) (Y/n)” on the cover in washed-out, black liner seemed to fade into the book even more. It was clearly used many times, ingrained in the hands of (Y/n) like a protective parent.
(Y/n) glanced back to where Oikawa Tooru, ladies man and popular third year at Seijoh, sat dazed and sedated on the floor of his room.
‘Today, I have captured an angel.’
———
Oikawa chuckled, entertaining his crowd of fans as usual. It never failed to surprise him how so much of them could fawn over him every day. Doesn’t it get draining? Don’t they have other things to do?
“O-Oikawa-san!” One of them stuttered. She held her closed fists to her chest as she bowed down. “For the science project assigned today...!”
“D-d-do you have a partner yet?!”
Girls started talking over each other, saying things like “Be partners with me, Oikawa-san!” Or “No! Be partners with me!” All the well ganging up on him and batting their eyelashes.
Oikawa shrugged, scratching his neck. “I’m sorry ladies, in my class the partners were already assigned. I’m with this person named (L/n) (Y/n).”
As soon as the words left his mouth, his eyes lit up.
“Actually-!” Oikawa clasped his hands together. “Do you know anything about them? I don’t think I’ve ever...seen...them before. And that’s saying something.”
Some of the girls' faces turned sour, while others looked at him in confusion.
“(L/n)? Sorry, I’ve never heard of them before.”
“Oh...they’re a bit quiet, they don’t talk to anyone-they just keep their head down.”
“Yeah, they seem like a real wimp...they keep their head down so much I don’t think I’ve ever seen their face before.”
A girl chuckled at her own statement. Oikawa raised an eyebrow.
“Well, I’m going over to their house today to discuss the project. Wish me luck, ladies.”
It was true. There was no practice today, and they had the whole weekend ahead of them to work on the project. How fun.
Speaking of the assignment, Oikawa bid his harem farewell, heading towards the gates of Aoba Johsai.
He pulled out a piece of paper. This so-called (L/n) (Y/n) scribbled out their address onto a piece of notebook paper, and insisted that they talk there. Oikawa read over the rushed writing carefully. Maybe they were just a bit shy, and they were more comfortable doing things in private.
Yeah...just a bit shy...
——
Oikawa rang the doorbell. He found himself standing in front of a small-ish looking apartment complex, standing in front of the door marked “938”. Either their family was on the poor side, they lived alone, or he was in the wrong place entirely.
The door creaked open. Someone with (e/c) colored eyes peeked timidly through the tiny sliver of space they gave themself. Oikawa smiled his usual charming smile, and waved.
“Ya-ho!” He bent down so he was face-to-face with the peeking eyes through the door. Their eyes widened. “Are you (L/n)-san? I’m your partner, you gave me your address in class earlier?”
The door shut abruptly. Oikawa flinched, standing back up straight awkwardly. That was odd. He heard shuffling from inside the apartment, before the door swung open again.
There stood (Y/n), in house slippers and sweatpants, along with a fresh, comfy looking shirt with a tiny cat printed on the chest.
They looked everywhere but Oikawa’s face, fumbling with their hands behind their back and shifting their weight between their legs ever so slightly.
“Hey...” (Y/n’s) voice was barely audible. Oikawa smiled reassuringly.
“Hi! May I come in?”
“Of course-!”
(Y/n) stepped off to the side, granting Oikawa access to their apartment. Oikawa stepped in with a smile, bending down to take off his shoes.
“Do you live alone?”
“Mhm...”
(Y/n) watched with fixated eyes as Oikawa removed his shoes. The Oikawa Tooru was in their house. Their own house. The man they loved since middle school, the man who they’d watched from afar for years, the one who they had no virtual chance being with...
Was in their home. Taking off his shoes and smiling.
Oikawa turned around. (Y/n) quickly averted their eyes. “Wanna do this assignment in your room...?”
(Y/n) wordlessly nodded, and beckoned Oikawa down the hallway. Opening the door to their room, they sat down on their bed, while Oikawa sat down on the floor. (Y/n) cleared their throat.
“Um...I forgot to take notes today in class, sorry...uh...do you have the notes we took today?”
Oikawa mused out a “Of course!”, and shedded off his backpack. He opened it lazily, and pulled out notebook after notebook. After shuffling through the bag, in the process he pulled out a colorful looking manga volume.
“What’s that?”
“Oh, this?” Oikawa stopped digging in his backpack and held up the book. “It’s manga I borrow from a girl every week.”
“...is she your girlfriend?” (Y/n) balled up some of his bedsheets in his hands sheepishly. Oikawa shook his head.
“Nope. But there was a weird chapter in it this week...” Oikawa shuffled through the pages. (Y/n) tentatively dropped down from their bed to look over Oikawa's shoulder.  “Found it!”
Oikawa shifted the book to give (Y/n) a better look.
“...Hypnosis?”
“Yeah, the protag of the manga got hypnotized by the ‘love interest’, this page is just one of those extra filler pages they use to separate the chapters. I totally think the ‘love interest’ is the villain, though...”
Sure enough, the page displayed a fun little step-by-step guide on how to hypnotize your friends. (Y/n) looked at the steps, then back to Oikawa’s beautiful face. He was saying something, and his voice was angelic and perfect, but he couldn’t register a thing he was saying. (Y/n’s) eyes flickered back to the hypnosis page.
The main character...was hypnotized by the love interest...
“Oikawa-san...” (Y/n’s) voice was soft as they plucked the book out from his hands. Oikawa stopped mid-sentence, and hummed in response.
“We have time...why don’t we try out this hypnosis thing?”
——
And that was the story of how Oikawa ended up silent and tranced on the floor of (Y/n’s) room. Each time (Y/n) would look back up from their diary, they would nudge Oikawa with the tip of their foot, and each time they gained no response. Oikawa was really hypnotized. They could make him do whatever they wanted.
(Y/n) snapped their diary shut, and crawled towards Oikawa. They leaned their face in real close, examining Oikawa’s face. Oikawa didn’t move or shrink back, he didn’t even blink as (Y/n) looked at his face. His beautiful brown eyes were cloudy and dull...and his delicious lips were parted ever so slightly...
(Y/n) eventually pulled back, with an idea coursing through their veins. It was kind of taboo, and wrong on so many levels, but nonetheless, (Y/n) picked up Oikawa’s borrowed manga and flipped through the pages.
‘Once I snap my fingers, you will be my lover! You will be deeply in love with me!’ A girl said, waving her hands around a boy’s face. She snapped her fingers, and the boy suddenly awoken. He immediately clung to the girl’s arm, nuzzling her hair and exclaiming his love for her.’
(Y/n) shut the book.
They turned back to Oikawa, who hadn't moved an inch since he’d gone under trance. He was staring at the floor ahead of him with a dull face.
“Oikaw...Tooru-kun...” (Y/n) inched toward Oikawa, before sitting down in front of him. They waved their hands in front of his face, grabbing Oikawa’s attention and making his eyes follow them absentmindedly.
“When I snap my fingers...you...” (Y/n) hesitated, swallowing thickly, before going on. “You will believe we were dating for...months, and you will be deeply in love with me.”
(Y/n) waited and swayed their hand side to side a second longer, watching Oikawa’s relaxed eyes follow them around obediently like a dog. (Y/n) brought their hand to the middle of Oikawa’s face, and snapped their fingers.
Oikawa jolted awake. (Y/n) flinched back, backing up shyly as Oikawa blinked and rubbed at his eyes. (Y/n) watched him with an expression akin to a deer in the headlights of a truck, in the middle of a street.
Oikawa’s eyes landed sleepily on (Y/n). They stiffened.
“Ah! Did I fall asleep on you? Ehehe, sorry, (Y/n)-chan.”
The use of their first name made (Y/n) shrink up more. They were sure their cheeks were on fire. They didn’t have time to blush however, as Oikawa began crawling towards them.
(Y/n) sputtered, and began moving back. Oikawa trailed towards (Y/n) with a confused expression as they slinked back bashfully, until they were backed up against their bedroom wall.
Oikawa pouted, examining (Y/n’s) extremely flustered expression. He sighed dramatically, and buried his face into (Y/n’s) neck. (Y/n) squawked, as Oikawa relaxed and sighed into their shoulder.
“Why are you running away from meee...” Oikawa sulked. “I thought my (Y/n)-chan loved meeee...”
(Y/n) froze. They silently breathed for a second, trying to take everything in. Oikawa Tooru was currently nuzzling into their neck, hypnotized, while they sat cornered against the wall of their bedroom.
“I-“ (Y/n) almost felt guilty for saying this. Almost. “I do love you, Tooru-kun! I love you so much...”
Oikawa grinned into the crevasse (Y/n’s) neck.
“...Is it because I’m your super cute boyfriend?” Oikawa stuck his head up from (Y/n’s) shoulder to stick his tongue out cutely. (Y/n) nodded tentatively.
“Yay~!” Oikawa chuckled, burying himself back into (Y/n). He was practically laying on top of them with the way his body covered their own like a lanky blanket.
They laid there for a second, before Oikawa reluctantly sat back up. He stretched out his arms as he gave a little groan.
“Anyways...ehehe..we should probably get to work—“
“Actually-!” (Y/n) shot up, grabbing onto Oikawa’s shoulders, with a sudden burst of confidence they didn’t seem to have three seconds ago. Oikawa blinked.
“We...have all weekend...why don’t we go on a date? I’ll pay, my treat for my lovely boyfriend~” (Y/n) smiled sweetly. They pushed the guilt and morals down their throat just a bit longer to watch Oikawa’s eyes glisten at the mention of a date.
And who was he to say no to his wonderful lover?
——
(Y/n) shoved the icky feeling down inside their throat as they entered a small restaurant, hand in hand with their ‘boyfriend’ Oikawa.
“Gosh, these chairs are so small…” Oikawa said, slipping into a small booth opposite to (Y/n). (Y/n) sat down quietly, picking up a menu provided to them by a waiter.
“That’s only because you’re so damn tall..”
Oikawa chuckled. “I am, aren’t I? But you still love me~”
(Y/n) gulped.
“Yeah.”
Ordering quickly, Oikawa started chatting about whatever came to mind at the moment. All (Y/n) could do, however, was stare. Stare as Oikawa Tooru, hypnotized, sat across from them on a date he was forced to go on. (Y/n) wanted to enjoy it, they really did, but the consciousness that Oikawa deep down was probably confused as to why his body was moving and talking and acting on its own ate them up from the inside.
Eventually, the food arrived, and (Y/n) stuffed their mouth with food to avoid saying anything embarrassing. Oikawa found it cute, though.
“Slow down, food’s not goin’ anywhere.” Oikawa laughed. (Y/n) hunched their shoulders in embarrassment, swallowing down a thick piece of food.
“Sorry.”
“S’ok, cutie~”
Oikawa munched on his food for a bit, before furrowing his brows.
“Y’know,” Oikawa slouched back in seat. “Even though we’ve been dating for months, this feels like the first time we’ve ever really went on a date.”
(Y/n) choked on their food. Oikawa watched as (Y/n) broke into a cold sweat, trying to swallow the lump in their throat. He raised his eyebrow nonchalantly. “I don’t think I can recall a single time we went on a date.”
(Y/n) coughed quietly into their sleeve. “Uh...don’t you remember?”
“Remember what?”
“You told me that you didn’t want your fangirls knowing about us some time ago, and that’s why we never went on any dates.” (Y/n) tittered, a confident face back on their face. “So technically this really is our first date, huh, Tooru-kun?”
“Since I’m so unpopular and weird and stuff...and you’re all popular and pretty...we didn’t want your reputation to suffer…” (Y/n’s) mouth was overflowing with lies. Though, they were kind of shocked how quick they were able to lie on the spot. That didn’t mean they didn’t feel bad, though.
“Ah. I suppose so.” Oikawa rubbed the back of his head with a breathy laugh. “Sorry ‘bout that.”
“Mhm.” (Y/n) stuffed their mouth with food once again. Maybe if they kept their mouth plugged, no more lies would seep out, and they wouldn’t end up lying their way into something they can’t get out of. In all actuality, (Y/n) didn’t even know how the hell Oikawa believed them so easily, too.
There’s just some things (Y/n) would never understand about hypnotized people, huh?
——
(Y/n) felt guilty that they enjoyed that date more than they should’ve.
They knew they technically brainwashed Oikawa into playing boyfriend with them, but they had to admit, talking and linking arms with him all day was like a dream come true. Even if it was all a game of forced pretend.
(Y/n) fumbled around for their apartment key while Oikawa played with their hair. “Tooru?” Their voice was weak, and a bit strained from how terrible they felt on the inside. Oikawa hummed, noticing the pained features on (Y/n’s) face.
“What’s wrong, cutie?” Oikawa jutted his bottom lip out as he followed (Y/n) to their room. “Do you feel bad that we didn’t get any work done for our project after all? Because like you said we have all weekend-“
“N-no, it’s not that…”
Oikawa watched as (Y/n) plopped down on their desk’s chair, huddling up into a small ball of culpability. Oikawa pouted once more. “What is it, (Y/n)-chan? You’re worrying me.”
“Don’t call me that-! That’s...that’s only something lovers do-!”
“But,” Oikawa gestured to himself, chuckling. “We are lovers, are we not? I’m literally your boyfriend?”
(Y/n) felt their chest tighten. “Oikawa.”
“Hey-we’re using last names now-?”
“Go to sleep.”
In seconds, Oikawa’s face fell and his shoulders slumped forward. His eyes, half-lidded as they were, focused on nothing in particular, staring straight ahead with the most dull expression on his face. (Y/n) stood up from their chair, and guided Oikawa down to sit on the bed with a heavy exhale. Oikawa obediently sunk down.
(Y/n) stood in front of him, sighing and rubbing their face. “Uuuu...I’m such a terrible person...”
They eventually turned back to the dazed Oikawa sitting on their bed, making up their mind and huffing. They raised their hand up to trace Oikawa’s vision back and forth like it did in the manga, and how they did the first time.
“Oikawa-san...I’m really sorry...and I hope you’ll forgive me...and I hope none of your fangirls saw us...” Oikawa didn’t respond, only following (Y/n’s) waving finger with his eyes lazily.
“You...” (Y/n) bit their lip. “You don’t really love me. We were never dating. When I bring you out of this, uh, trance, you’ll be back to normal and not hypnotized anymore.”
(Y/n) once again brought their fingers to the middle of Oikawa’s vision. They hesitated. Some evil part of them was screaming not to, Oikawa would be mad and would want to switch partners, and that this was the moment they’d been waiting for forever. And they were just gonna give it up like that?
They shook the devil off their shoulder. It was wrong. Period. They’d rather have Oikawa hate them than have him be internally forced to be in a relationship with someone he doesn’t even know for the rest of his life.
They sighed. Their hand was beginning to feel heavy holding it up infront of Oikawa’s face for so long. At least that one ‘date’ they had would stay in their heart for forever. As a little memento of how wonderful Oikawa is as a boyfriend, and how horrible of a person (Y/n) was.
(Y/n) pursed their lips, but before they could snap their fingers, they heard chuckling. Looking at Oikawa, he was laughing and covering his mouth, seemingly trying to silence his fit of laughter.
“Pfft-ahahaha-! I-I’m sorry! I’m sorry. Sorry...A-ahem, lemme just-“
Oikawa tried to resume his ‘I’m-hypnotized-and-helpless’ blank face, but in a matter of seconds he broke back into a smirk and sputtered into laughter again. (Y/n) stood there dumbly.
“H-Huh...?”
Oikawa wiped at his eyes, momentarily looking up at (Y/n). He stood up, making (Y/n) step back, and stretched out his arms with a big yawn. “Damn, pretending to be hypnotized really takes a lot outta you, huh?”
(Y/n) opened and closed their mouth repeatedly, trying to find the words to speak but ending up looking like a fish out of water.
“Oh, right.” Oikawa smirked, leaning towards (Y/n’s) face and pointing to himself. “I was awake the whole time. I just found it cute how you thought you had so much control.”
“I mean,” Oikawa threw back his head, chuckling. “Hypnosis? Ahahaha! I don’t think a measly manga page is gonna teach you how to hypnotize someone for real! Like-I was just playing along because I thought you were gonna make me do something stupid, but-“
Oikawa stopped when (Y/n’s) knees buckled, making them fall to the ground pathetically. He crouched down, amused, while (Y/n) curled up into a ball and covered their face in pure humiliation.
“Gooooosh, I’m so...” (Y/n) whimpered. Oikawa snickered, playing with a strand of (Y/n’s) hair. “I wanna die...god, I’m so sorry-“
“Don’t be. I thought it was cute. I think you’re cute~”
(Y/n) peeked through their fingers with a confused expression. Oikawa sat back on his behind, and smiled.
“Huh?”
“I mean, you ‘hypnotized’ me into being your boyfriend, right? You don’t need hypnotism for that.”
“Next Saturday at six? After we do the project? We can go on a real date this time.”
(Y/n) looked at him blankly. “You’re joking.”
“I’m not.”
“Dude, I literally just manipulated you into being my boyfriend and took you out on a date that could’ve ruined your reputation, and you’re asking me out on a date?”
Oikawa shrugged. “Yeah. Seems about right.”
(Y/n) sunk back into the floor. “This is too good to be true...it’s not real...not real at all...”
“Well, I’ll let you dwell on my offer, (Y/n)-chan~” Oikawa poked at (Y/n’s) cheeks, before crawling over to his backpack.
“But we should really get started on our project.”
——
‘Dear diary.’
(Y/n) scribbled down in their black notebook. They had to keep hiding the page they were writing on from Oikawa’s prying eyes, though that was to be expected since they were literally laying across Oikawa’s lap while they discussed their project.
‘Today, I really did capture an angel.’

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru Chapter 8 - Winter Comes Again (Part 1)

A team with only ten runners had passed the qualifiers and was now in the Hakone Ekiden.
This spectacular achievement accomplished by the residents of Chikusei-sou was widely talked about, not just by the university athletics world.
Since the Hakone Ekiden began being televised in 1987, there was hardly anyone who didn’t know the name of this event for student runners in the Kanto region. Whether it was due to the grueling nature of the race or the glamour and glitz that aired on New Year’s Day, the Hakone Ekiden never failed to attract attention.
Only ten people were taking on that famous competition. Why would they think of doing such a reckless thing? What would happen if someone got injured or sick on the day of the event? What kind of daily training regimen did they follow, and how did they live?
Curious locals and students who wished to join the team began to visit Chikusei-sou incessantly. Most of the students had no experience in track and field, but when they found out that the team had passed the qualifiers, many of them asked to join the team in a temporary rush of excitement.
Kiyose carefully wrote on a piece of paper that he would turn down all visits and stuck it on the door of Chikusei-sou. He appreciated them wanting to join, but the Kansei University boom would soon die down, they couldn’t enter without an official record, and Chikusei-sou was already full. After much deliberation, Kiyose decided that it would be better for the ten of them to concentrate on training and unite to compete in Hakone rather than take in any new members.
With regards to the locals, the shopkeepers of the shopping district told them to not get in the way of training and most of the locals were now content to just peek at Chikusei-sou from over the hedges. The exceptions were the old people who quietly supplied produce from their fields.
As Kakeru was leaving for his morning jog, he noticed napa cabbages and pears placed outside the door. Is this some kind of repayment? He thought. Nira, who had watched the old people’s actions without barking, only wagged his tail at him. In the end, without knowing who did it, the residents of Chikusei-sou filled their stomachs with the produce that was often left at their door.
Of course, requests for interviews flooded in from the media. Not just track and field magazines, but also weekly magazines, newspapers, and TV; every kind of media outlet they could think of had been trying to contact them. Kiyose and Shindou investigated them all carefully and refused almost all requests with “We want to concentrate on our training.”
However, they agreed to an interview with Monthly Track and Field’s Sanuki and Yomiuri Shimbun’s Nunoda, who had been supporting them since the summer training camp. The two understood the psychology of runners well, so they watched them train without interfering and briefly asked them the most pertinent questions. Favorable articles about the people of Chikusei-sou were then published in the respective mediums.
The twins and King were over the moon and insisted on accepting more interviews.
“We’re actually going to Hakone, you know? It’s better to be noticed,” Jouta said.
“It might even help with getting a job,” King said.
“Instead of thinking about that, you need to get more serious about training. Otherwise, your pathetic running will be televised all over the country, and you’ll get attention whether you like it or not.”
Even when Kiyose flatly rejected them, the twins and King didn’t give up.
“No? We wanna be on TV. TV, TV!” they yelled. Kakeru was astonished as he watched the offense and defense unfolding at the dinner table.
Just the thought of competing in the Hakone Ekiden was enough to make Kakeru nervous and elated. But on top of that, the twins wanted the “extraordinary” experience of being interviewed on TV. Were they too simple-minded, were they greedy, or were they just fearless?
Until that spring, the twins had lived without having any connection to long-distance running, so they might not have had a clear idea of the significance of the Hakone Ekiden.
The Hakone Ekiden, which began in 1920, took place every year with the exception of a few years during the war. Even amidst the food shortage after the war, the runners put on their sashes and aimed for the mountains of Hakone—that's how important it was as an event for runners, with more than eighty years of tradition.
The Hakone Ekiden was what student runners yearned and dreamed of; the twins might not have fully understood the meaning and value of participating in such an event. But even though they didn’t understand, they trained and had the ability to claim their place to take part in it, so they were no ordinary people. Kakeru was impressed and amused by this.
Between them, the twins continued their appeal with Kiyose, who was silently moving his chopsticks.
“Hey, hey, let’s go on TV at least once.”
“We can have that perk, at least. After all, Haiji-san, you’re…”
“What about me?” Kiyose's chopsticks stopped moving. Jouta and Jouji suddenly closed their mouths and squirmed like they wanted to say something, but finally shook their heads.
“Nothing.”
In the end, Kiyose gave in and they ended up accepting a TV interview: on the evening news, in a five-minute topic segment, the lives of the residents of Chikusei-sou were going to be introduced.
TV cameras came and filmed Prince’s room full of manga and Nico-chan’s room full of small quit-smoking dolls that were scattered around his futon that he never put away. They also filmed their training in the field and interviewed the members.
The twins and King took the lead in the interview. We don’t know if things just followed their course or if it was because we were threatened by Haiji-san, but we found ourselves aiming for Hakone. We eat lemons soaked in honey every day to avoid catching colds. We don’t do any special training. We believe we have the same kind of regimen as the track clubs in other universities.
Kakeru, as usual, stood meekly in the corner, just far enough away that he was partially cut off by the cameras.
“Why are you hiding, Kakeru?” Yuki asked.
But Kakeru only smiled vaguely and dodged the question with, “No, I'm not really.” Nico-chan, who was watching over the interview, looked back at him.
“You’re not gonna tell us that you’re a wanted fugitive, are you?”
“No, it’s nothing like that.”
That’d be cool, though, Nico-chan said and gave him a suspicious look.
“Putting that aside, there’s been a strange mood lately, don’t you think?” Yuki said. Nico-chan nodded, I guess so.
Kakeru had also noticed it; it had become somewhat strained within Chikusei-sou. The first-floor residents were the same as before, and most of the people living on the second floor were practicing with the same attitude as usual. The twins, however, seemed to be clearly depressed. To be frank, it was regarding Kiyose.
They didn’t argue with him or act defiant towards him. However, they tried to keep a subtle distance. Although Kiyose treated Jouta and Jouji as he always had, they couldn’t seem to be open with him for some reason. For some reason, their trust in Kiyose seemed to have faded.
This awkwardness spread through Chikusei-sou, and a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere had persisted ever since the qualifiers ended.
“I wonder what’s going on,” Nico-chan said. “Kakeru, you’re in the same year as them—ask them casually.”
“What do I ask?”
“About what’s in their heart, of course.”
“Aah…yes.”
Although he answered with that, Kakeru honestly felt that it was a heavy burden.
Training was becoming more and more voluminous and dense. They slowly ran the first 5000 meters of the 12,000 meter run in 17 minutes, then increased the pace and ran the last 1000 meters at a pace of 3 minutes and 0.5 seconds. After that, they did five 1000 meter runs of 2 minutes and 55 seconds with a 200-meter interval in between.
Kakeru did his best to think about his own running. Was the swinging of his arms, the angle of his feet when he landed on the ground, the relaxing and tensing of his muscles okay like this? His consciousness stretched around every inch of his cells and he checked his running with every step.
Of course, he had to attend his university classes in between training sessions, but it was hard to have to pay attention to other people as well.
One time, he happened to be in the Tsuru no yu public baths with the twins. When the twins went to the washing area, Kakeru and Kiyose soaked in the bathtub with their backs to the painting of Mount Fuji, and conversed with the plasterer who happened to be there.
“How’s it going, Haiji? How are the Chikusei-sou guys?” the plasterer asked. He was sitting in the hot water with his back to the washing area, so he didn’t notice the twins. The twins, who would usually call out to them, saw Kiyose by the bathtub’s faucet and only slightly bowed without a word.
“They’re doing good,” Kiyose answered the plasterer.
“The first-years did pretty good.” The plasterer pulled his hands out of the water and rubbed his face. “Kakeru did great too, but look at those identical twins—they’re pretty fast too, aren’t they?”
Kakeru fretted over how Kiyose would answer. Behind the plasterer, Jouta and Jouji were straining their ears to listen. Perhaps because he was distracted by the conversation, Jouji lost control of his hands and spilled a large amount of shampoo on his head.
“They really are,” Kiyose smiled. “I can’t say it in front of the people themselves, but they run well.”
“Really?” Jouta stood up from his chair in the washing area, and the plasterer looked behind him with a start.
“What’s the point in lying?” Kiyose rose from the bathtub. “Sir, we’re raising promising runners, so please continue to support us from the shopping district. I will be taking my leave now.”
He walked past the twins’ backs, opened the sliding door of the baths and disappeared into the changing room.
“He only praised us ‘cause we were here,” Jouji muttered to no one in particular. But he couldn’t hide the fact that he was happy. He shampooed his head so vigorously that it was covered in dense bubbles in the blink of an eye.
“What’s with you guys? You didn’t even say hello.”
After the plasterer compared Kiyose’s and the twins’ words and actions, he turned to Kakeru, who was still in the bath. “Are they fighting by any chance?”
He was asked that in a whisper. “Well,” Kakeru sank up to his shoulders in the water. “I don’t think that’s the case.”
The twins might have been dissatisfied with Kiyose in some way, however they couldn’t hide it within themselves forever. If anything, he would say that it was because they had openhearted and naïve personalities; he was sure that they would let their emotions erupt at the earliest opportunity and directly vent them to Kiyose. It wasn’t too late to try and solve the problem.
Kakeru decided to leave the twins alone. He shouldn’t intentionally nudge a dormant volcano; when an eruption occurred, they would naturally discover where the crater is. After carefully assessing the location and wind direction, they could take shelter and wait for the overflowing lava to cool. That was what he thought.

[Pragma]
Chishiya Shuntarou
Warnings: swearing, manga spoilers, mentions of nooses and hanging, death, blood, abuse
As always I think that's all, but feel free to tell me if I missed any. This is part one of seven of the idea I had!
The word love encompasses so much. Love can be different in the ways people say and mean it, which is why the Greeks had seven words for love.
Eros, sexual or erotic love. Can be the love you share with a partner. Lust.
Philia, platonic love. The love you share with friends.
Storge, natural love. The love you share with your family.
Philautia, love of self.
Pragma, long standing love. The love of a married couple.
Agápe, unconditional or Devine love.
Ludus, childish or playful love/flirting.
As the cupid of Pragma, you dealt with many types of people. People who were nervous to propose, people having second thoughts, and people who had been married for years. Every problem was unique in its own way.
"(Y/N)! There's someone calling for you specifically!" Eros's voice called out. You smiled, smoothing out  your lilac dress, walking towards them. "You're always so graceful! Teach me!" Ludus's voice chirped. You patted her head saying, "Maybe later." Before turning your attention back to the person. It was a woman.  "Oh this is silly... I am but a fool to believe this will work, but anything for him... Lady of Pragma, I wish to speak with you," she said. There was a green apple on her desk. "Well, I'll be going. Bye bye!" You said, waving off to them. You spun twice, disappearing in a cloud of cherry blossoms. "Ah, I should have known that language. I'm guessing this woman is in Japan then," you muttered, feeling cold move over you.
"Hello, you've called for me?" You said, standing besides the woman. She jumped, but sighed. "He was... it was correct? You're real?" She questioned. You nodded with a smile. "As real as you. I'm (Y/N), the cupid of Pragma, long standing love. How may I assist you?" You introduced, bowing towards her. She returned the bow. "I... I fear my husband and I... our relationship may have affected our son. He's... I would like for you to help him not end up like his father and I did. Please," she explained. It hurt you that such a thing could happen. People fell out of love all the time, and not even the magic of a cupid could change that. "Of course. I just need a name. Oh, and if I may request that apple?" You said, pointing towards it. The lady laughed, handing it to you. "It is for you. And the name is Chishiya Shuntarou. Please, whatever it takes for him to not end up like us," she requested yet again. You nodded, before spinning yet again. Cherry blossoms filled again. 'So he lives on Japan as well? I think he will be interesting.'  What a travesty that their relationship affected their son. Love wasn't always easy, which is why so many people called on you and the other cupids.
When you opened your eyes, you were in what looked like a college dorm. A boy with blonde, almost white hair stood in front of you. No expression on his face, almost like you didn't just appear out of no where. "And that's the last time I go 2 days without sleep," he muttered, walking away from you. "Hello? It's quite rude to walk off like that. You must be Chishiya," you guessed floating after him. "How did you- nope, no, this is a figment of my imagination. The supernatural don't exist," he said, trying to walk off. You grabbed his shoulders, making him face you. "I'm real. Your mother sent me to help you. I'm (Y/N), the cupid of Pragma," you introduced. He stared back into your eyes. One of your hands was warm, the other icy. It felt to real to be a dream or a figment of his imagination.
"So, you follow me around everywhere basically?" He questioned a few hours later. "Yep. Until you fall in love with someone and they fall in love back in the way that would result in marriage. With my help," you explained. "And others can't see you?" He asked. You shook your head. "Only you can see and hear me," you answered. He nodded, before sighing. "And if I don't love someone or them love me back?" He asked. "I stay in your mortal life till you die," you responded. It was the life of a cupid, you supposed. "Well, you are going to be stuck here for a while. I don't like anybody. All the  humans I've met are the same. Idiotic, cheerful, and to happy to be in this life," he said. Ah, an apathetic one is he? You could change that.
The next few weeks you spent trying to point out people to him. He wouldn't take any interest in them, saying that they were to dumb or any other excuse. We're you bad at your job? No, he was just a picky person, you guessed. "There has to be a person that's peaked your interest these past few weeks. I've found over hundreds of people. Men, women, in between. One of them has had to catch your eye," you said, floating above his bed. "No, not at all," he responded. You heard fireworks outside, and floated over to his window, looking out. The colorful sparks lit up the sky, and you watched in awe. "Chishiya, is there a celebration of sorts today?" You questioned. He shook his head, muttering something about dumb people. Suddenly all the lights turned off. You looked around, but it was pitch black. "Chishiya? Where are you?" You questioned. "On my bed... must be a blacko- oh my god... you're glowing," he started.
"Aw, thanks. That's the nicest thing you've said to me,'' you giggled. "No like... actually glowing," he said, reaching out towards you, and touching your hair. He pulled a (strand/curl) softly, showing it to you. You looked down to see that your body was actually glowing. Then you looked at your hair. Your hair had strands that were glowing gold, contracting with your (H/C).
The rest of your body gave off a small amount of light. "Let's go see if anyone else knows what's going on. Come on my glow stick, " he said, leaving already. You laughed at the nickname, following besides him.
There was no one. Not a single soul in the city of Tokyo. "Chishiya... what's going on?" You questioned, floating over him, deciding to sit atop his shoulders. He walked around the empty streets. None of the lights were on, all the cars in the street had stopped, and there was dead silence. The only sound was the occasional plastic bags that moved across the pavement. "I don't know. If I knew, I would tell you," he said. You looked down at him, and lightly slapped the top of his head. He turned his head to look at you, glaring slightly. "Why... aren't you heavy?" He asked. You didn't weigh anything, despite your body being on his shoulders. Every body type has weight, that's just how humans work. But then again, you weren't human. "Well, I can appear how I want to. I appear how I used to look in my life before being a cupid. And as for why, I just make myself lighter by floating so you're not carrying me," you explained, softly petting his hair in apology for hitting him. He nodded, and began walking again.
Of course, that's how you ended up here, in a game of Black Jack to the death. One of the advertisement boards had lit up saying 'this way to the game arena'. Chishiya being curious, followed the signs. They led you two in the direction of a casino. There were 4 other people there when you entered.
"Chishiya, I-" you started, before he placed a finger on your lips. "Quiet," he stated quietly, seeing as he didn't want everyone else to think he was crazy. You immediately shut your mouth. "Good girl," he praised, petting your head. No one payed any mind to him, so you assumed no one heard him. You blushed at his words. Why did they sound sweet coming from him? You had always despised those words. Coming from Chishiya, they gave you butterflies. 'Nonononono! It's against the rules. Butterflies, go away!' You scolded yourself internally. You floated over the table, looking through things. There were guns under glass cases, poker chips, and decks of cards. Another thing you noticed were the nooses hanging from the ceiling. "But Chishiya, this is... less than adequate," you said, holding his face in your hands. You huffed when he didn't answer back, and decided to use your magic, talking through his mind.
''Chishiya what in the Hades do you think you're doing!''
"Oh, this is new. Lovely."
"Don't ignore my question you brat!"
"If anyone's the brat it's you. So, be quiet like a good girl would."
This time, the words didn't sound sweet. They sounded like how he had said them. It almost made you throw up.
"Stop calling me that."
"Why? You seemed to like it."
"Chishiya... please. It just... it reminds me of someone I would like to forget."
"Well, that's not my problem, is it?"
"Chishiya I-''
"Just be quiet. I'm trying to focus."
You frowned, and nodded. He had always been kind of mean to others, and maybe sarcastic with you, but he had never been that rude to you. It made you hurt, shocking you, as this had never happened in your course of being a cupid. Why did it hurt so much coming from him? Others had said the same thing, but it never bothered you. Why was it? Although, it had happened in your life before becoming a cupid. But you didn't want to remember. You don't want to. But, in the moment, your memories got the best of you.
"Just take it like a good girl," he mocked, hitting you once more. You winced in pain. "Pl-please just stop!" You pleaded, wiping away the blood, wincing at the burning sensation. He only snickered as you tried to stumble away. You reached the door, only for him to grab your braided hair, pulling you back. You let out a sharp cry as you feel to the dirt floor. Dust flew up, making you sneeze, and your eyes burn from the dust getting in them. There was dirt all over your skirt, mixing with the blood that dripped from your injuries.
"Good girls don't get hurt. All you have to do is be a good girl and you won't get hurt," he said, crouching down in front of you and grabbing your chin with his hand. The teasing tone in his voice obvious. He spoke down to you as if you were a child. You averted your eyes, looking away from the man in front of you. "Remember the vows. You promised to love, honor, and obey me. So do as your told like a good girl," he said, spitting on your face. He let you go, leaving the house, as you curled up, crying to yourself. You knew he would come back and act like everything was fine. Like he didn't treat you like trash on the street. You wished he had stayed the sweet boy you fell in love with. So, as you fell asleep through tears and wracking sobs, you imagined he still was. That you were madly in love with the same sweet boy who used to bring you flowers. The sweet boy who used to kiss you goodbye.
You heard Chishiya gasp, and looked over at him.
"Who the hell was that? Why the fuck- what- what happened?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You! You and that man! Is that... is that why you don't like it? The nickname, I mean."
"...Yes."
"I-... I'll stop then."
You had a feeling apologies weren't his thing, so left it at that. You couldn't believe Chishiya was able to see into your mind. You knew that you two were linked because of when you talked to him, but no one had ever been able to look into your mind as you had been able to look into theirs. There had only been one other person who had been able to do that.
All was well, until one person lost, getting pulled up by the noose around his neck. You flinched, grabbing your neck. "Oh my..." you whispered. You heard Chishiya snicker at your reaction. "Chishiya Shuntarou, that is no laughing matter!" You scolded. He shrugged, going back to the game. He was to apathetic for his own good. You guessed this is what his mother was talking about. He didn't experience the normal family love as others would. He didn't experience love at all, you guessed, and that left him to be an apathetic man who had no care for his life, or anyone else's. He put no value on anyone's life, including his own.
"Sociopathic oh so tragic~" you sang, putting up the laundry on the hooks. "It's not my fault that I play with magic~"you continued, the sheets and clothes swaying lightly in the wind. You felt a hand on your waist, and tensed up. "What's that about magic?" You heard him say. Your eyes widened as he put his head in the crook of your neck. The cocking of his gun was the other sound you heard. "D-darling, it's just a rhyme I h-heard the ch-children down the s-street sing. I-it's all in good fun and i-innocence," you stuttered, hoping he wouldn't do anything to drastic. "Magic would explain why the men in town were talking about you. Whore," he spat, his grip on you becoming tighter. You felt the tip of his gun press against your back. "Let me go," you ordered, your voice stern and high strung. "Let me go, or I'll scream. Let everyone know what you've been doing. It's not my fault I was the talk of the town today. Maybe if you hadn't bruised my skin, I wouldn't be. Just as I promised in my vows, you promised too. You get your hands off me, or I'll scream. I'll scream and we'll see who's the talk off the town," you threatened, breaking away from him. You pushed him down, and picked up your skirt, running back to the house. "You bitch!" He screamed. All you remember was the sound of the gunshot, the pain in your abdomen, and the shrill shreak that came from your mouth.
Then, light. A bright light. "Oh no... my dearest (Y/N)... he will suffer in the pits of the most wretched places," the voice said. It was soft, and regal. The voice only a queen would have. "You poor woman... cursed with such a man," another spoke. This one sounded more girlish. Still regal, but as if a child spoke. You looked up, seeing two of the most beautiful women you've ever seen. One having caramel skin, shoulder length black hair, and golden eyes like those of a hawk. She wore a red dress that had gold at the ends. It ended just above her ankles. On her hair lay a headpiece with black horns, a golden snake wrapping around a red circle. The ends of her hair held golden pieces. She wore a beautiful gold and blue necklace, and had blue bracelets on her wrists and upper arm, and anklets. The other woman had golden hair braided back, with tan skin and the most pure hazel eyes you'd ever seen. She wore a sheer white dress a beautiful embroidered belt on her waist. You gasped, backing away. "Do not be frightened. I am Hathor," the woman with the raven hair said. "And I am Aphrodite. We've seen your suffering, and together, we've taken the decision to make you a cupid. The cupid of the word Pragma, to be exact," the other said. You swallowed. "You don't have to accept. But we'd appreciate if you would," Hathor said. "W-what would.. me doing that... include? My duties?" You asked. "You would help people who wanted to propose, those who are engaged, and even those who are married. You help them solve the problems. Pragma is the Greek word for the love of a married couple. Long standing love," Aphrodite explained. ''So? Do you accept?"
"(Y/N). The game is over. Let's go."
Chishiya's voice broke you from your thoughts. You looked up, seeing the people hanging, and shuddered. "Are they..?" You questioned, motioning towards the hanging bodies. He nodded, walking through the casino. He held a card in his hands. A six of diamonds.
You floated besides him, your dress flowing behind you. You didn't speak, just floated besides him. Your face was devoid of any emotion he could detect. And it was frustrating to him, someone who prided himself on being able to read others, but others not be able to read him.
"(Y/N), talk. It's to quiet. Never thought I'd say that," he said. "What do you want me to talk about?" You asked. You two sat on a bench in a park. "Who that man was. Why he hurt you. If he's suffering now," Chishiya responded. "Well, you don't sugar coat... that was my husband. In my past life. He was a sweet man... before we got married. After that, he showed his true colors. An abusive pig.  I don't know why he hurt me. And I don't think I'll ever know. He is suffering. The gods of death are making sure of it," you responded. "Gods?" He questioned. "Yes. All the gods of every religion exist. No one's wrong, but also, no one's right," you said. "Ok... makes sense. Tell me about the cupids," he requested. You smiled. "There's seven of us. Each represents a different word the Greeks had for love. We all have a lucky item, a food that can be used to summon and appease us, and a special magic," you explained. "Alright, and what's your lucky item and your special magic?" He asked. "My lucky item are the earings I wear. A wedding gift from my mother. My special magic is reading minds and talking through them. It helps a lot, especially with the people I help," you said. He nodded, looking up at the sky.
"I've never seen the sky like this. Too many lights here in the city to look," he said. You nodded, agreeing with his statement. It was quite different from the normal sky you saw. "Hey... have you as a a cupid ever fallen in love with one of your human projects?" He asked. You could tell he was joking about the word projects, but still you tilted your head in confusion. "Why do you ask?" You questioned. "Just curious. Am I allowed to be curious?" He said, a smirk on his face. "Curiosity killed the cat," you responded, returning his smirk. "But satisfaction brought it back~," he sang, his smirk turning into a wide grin. Now you could see why his name meant 'Cheshire'. You shook your head, "You are something else Chishiya." "Well, have you?"
He sure was persistant to get an answer. But then again, he was a man. Most persist even after receiving an answer, which boiled you with anger. Eros had a way of dealing with them that always made you smile. You had a feeling he wouldn't stop asking until you answered, so instead of dealing with annoyance for the next... however long you would be trapped here, you decided to answer. You thought for a second. "No. I haven't. It's been said we'll die a devine death if we do," you said. "Has anyone actually tested it out?" He asked. You shook your head. He turned your head to face him. He got closer, making you keep eye contact. "Want to know something?" He asked. You let out a shaky breath nodding. "I did fall for someone," he said, eyes locked with yours. You backed up, hitting the handle of the bench, your legs strewn out under him, your lilac dress flowing off the park bench. "W-who? I can help," you asked nervously as he got closer. He leaned his head to whisper in your ear.
"It..."
"Is...
"... You."
You gasped, closing your eyes, pushing him off softly. You could feel the warmth rise to your cheeks, and shook your head. "You don't mean that. You're lying," you started, bringing your knees into your chest. "Oh, but I do. I see no reason to lie to you when you could just read my mind," he said. You could hear the smirk in his voice. "Ch-chishiya, I could die," you stated, your voice small. He softly lifted your face. You kept your eyes closed. "You said no one's ever tried it. How would you know?" He said. You opened your eyes slowly. "Would you like to test your mortality?" You retorted. "Yes. It seems like one way to feel satisfaction," he said. He fixed the strap of your dress, pulling it back onto your shoulder. "I hate that you don't care for your own life. You need to fall in love with a mortal person... I-... even if I did return your feelings and I couldn't die from loving you, I couldn't... we couldn't be together," you said, turning to face away from him. He sighed, grabbing your face in his hands, making you look at him once more. "Do you return the feelings? Or are you afraid to admit them? Is it that you're scared of getting hurt by someone you thought you could trust again? Is it the fear of death?" He questioned, although you could tell he was reading you like a kid's book, not really looking for an answer.
You looked down. "I-i don't know. And even if I couldn't die from it, you are still a mortal being. I live forever," you said. "There's only one way to find out if it's true. So, stop me if you really don't have feelings for me," he said, leaning in to you. Your breath got caught in your throat. He stopped, his forehead resting on yours. "Stop me if you don't want me to. I will. I'm not a monster, you know," he whispered. You took a shaky sigh.
When was the last time you had ever done anything for yourself? Not even in your past life had you been selfish. Never had you asked for more than you were given, never had you envied those who had more. You had never realized that throughout the years, you has become a bit sad at everyone else falling in love with your help, but you weren't allowed to. If the gods and goddess didn't want you to fall in love, then they should have made you to not feel it. None of the cupids had ever tested it. So, if the goddesses and gods of love could fall in love with mortals and do whatever they pleased, why couldn't you? It wasn't fair. For once, you were going to make a decision that benefited you. No more being afraid of unseen consequences.
You closed your eyes, nodding softly. "Go ahead," you whispered. In a second, his lips were pressed against yours. His hand caressed the side of your face, pulling you in closer. Your lips were so soft, and you tasted like apple. He thought to himself that he would become addicted to the taste. He pulled away, and watched as you touched your body. "I-im still here... I'm still here. Chishiya, I'm still here!" You repeated, throwing yourself on him. You hugged him tightly, and he pet your head softly. "See, nothing ha-" he started, before getting interrupted by someone clearing their throat.
You pulled away, seeing Aphrodite.
You kneeled down on the floor, ushering Chishiya to do the same. "In all my years... I never thought you'd be the one to test it," she said. You kept your eyes glued to the ground. "Lady Aphrodite, I-..." you started, thinking over your words. You took a big breath in. "I'm sorry, but... I won't apologize for falling in love. I think... for once I wanted to do something for myself. If you must punish anyone, punish me," you said. "(Y/N)-" Chishiya started. You shot him a look that said to stay quiet. He glared at you.
"I'm not staying quiet, damn woman."
"Don't start now. Not in her presence."
"You're not getting hurt because I forced my feelings onto you I c-"
"You didn't force your feelings on me. Let me deal with this."
"(Y/N), you're not getting punished. I don't know who told you ladies you weren't allowed to fall in love. I just thought it was something you seven had made a pact on. It seems more serious than what I first assumed," Aphrodite said. You looked up in shock. "I-. I can fall in love? But... Zues said-" you stuttered. "Zues? Did he really? I'll have a chat with him. But now, you have two options. 1, keep being a cupid, and have him join you in your immortal life. So, yes, your darling would become immortal. Or 2, become mortal again, and live the rest of your mortal lives together," She said. You looked over at Chishiya who smirked.
"What do you want to do?"
"I should be asking you that. It's your immortal life that would be lost. So you decide."
"Well... I like being a cupid. And I love you... I want you forever and ever..."
"Then there's your answer."
"But is it what you want? I don't want to make a decision based solely on my wants."
"(Y/N), I've already told you. I would care less whatever you pick. Both benefit me. Only one benefits you with giving you both things you want."
"I... I would like to stay a cupid, and have him indefinitely my lady," you said with a small smile. You liked the sound of having Chishiya by your side forever. She smiled brightly.  "I'm so happy you've found someone. It was me and Hathor's goal since we chose you. I can't fathom why Zues would tell you ladies you couldn't fall in love. But, all shall be fixed soon. The others are all out on their own missions now. I think they're all headed the same way you two did. So, let's see where they go," she informed. She touched her hands to Chishiya's head, and smiled. "So you do have pure intentions with her. Good. Now... I'm not sure why, but my magic isn't exactly working here. I could barely appear in here. So, I must wait till you're back in the normal world to help you become immortal. Be careful my dear (Y/N)... This world is dangerous. Protect him best you can, although he seems to be plenty clever. Maybe a bit to clever for his own good? And, Chishiya?" She said, looking towards him. He lifted his head, looking at her for the first time, shocked to see she looked like you. From your hair, to your eyes, to your height, to your body type. She smiled, "Don't hurt her." And with that, she disappeared in a cloud of rose gold dust that blew away in the breeze. He turned to you, a shocked expression on his face, "She- she looked like you. Exactly like you." You giggled, and put your hand on his shoulder. "The belt she was wearing? It was made by her husband. He enchanted the belt so she was able to look beautiful to anyone who looked at her. But, everyone's standard of beauty is different, so she looks different to everyone who gazes at her," you explained. He nodded slowly, before looking away. You were confused, before seeing his ears painted red. "Chishiya, are you blushing?" You teased, turning him to face you. You grabbed his face softly, making him look at you. He averted his eyes. "I don't think I've ever seen you bashful or shy," you teased again. "Shut up... it's- this is all new to me," he stuttered. "I'm glad you find me beautiful," you said, kissing his nose. He smirked.
"You missed," he said. You looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean I- mmph!" You started, before getting interrupted with his lips on yours.
Maybe breaking the 'rule' for your own feelings was the right choice. No, scratch that, it was the right choice. And you would forever be with a person who loved you.
Next will be Last Boss, then after that it's Niragi's. Just a small reminder, these will all talk about past trauma which will include thing such as abuse, rape, assault, murder and other things. You became a cupid due to the experiences, OK? Thank you so much for reading, have an amazing day/night!
Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of love, and I tried to describe her as well as I could from the reference I found!

Tears, Fears, and Souvenirs
Levi Ackerman X Reader
A/N: I was having a bath the other day - for the first time in years - and I just kinda sat there and did nothing for a while. It was weird. - Nemo
Warning(s): PTSD. Nudity. Probably more forced self-care than I’ll ever get in my entire life. Scars. Anime/Manga Spoilers.
Summary: Over time, if they’re bottled long enough - emotions build up. Eventually, people find places where they can run free. Luckily for you, you’re alone when it happens. Unluckily for you, that alone-ness did not last long.
Listening to: ‘Nothing Left To Say/Rocks’ by Imagine Dragons - ‘I've come too far to see the end now ... But I keep pushing on and on and on and on.’
Masterlist
After days like today where the hours stretched on, and they day was actually three - but still counted as one, because sleep over safety was not an option - you always waited a couple more hours to make sure everyone was asleep.
Especially the newest cadets - or what was left of them.
You feigned the idea that you were taking care of them. That you waited up so that those who needed coaxing to go to bed actually had someone to coax them. But it wasn’t just that. The baths were always quiet at 2 am.
Even though it had taken a while to get the water warmed, as you sunk into the steaming water you knew the wait was worth it. Despite no luxury of scented oils or bubbles, you enjoyed it anyway - just the feeling of everything washing away was good enough. It’d tide you over until - one day - you’d get those things. But that would be a time when you wouldn’t need to take a bath to forget.
After the day - or days - that you just had, you’d need more than one bath to completely process and wash away what happened.
Miche was dead. Your closest friend, someone who was practically a brother to you, died right behind you as you ran away.
At the time you were in your soldier mindset. He was a fallen comrade with no hope left. In that he was managing to divert the titans away from you, and that was good. He was supposed to be right behind you, his horse appearing in the distance as yours came right up from another direction. He told you to go, that he’d catch up in no time.
You, in your soldier mindset, listened to your superior like you were taught.
You, in your soldier mindset, didn’t look back like you were taught.
But now? Now you thought of how you both should’ve just hopped on your horse and left, his would’ve found him and caught up eventually. At least then you both would be alive. The idea of having to do it again - leave someone behind - sent a nauseating pang straight to your heart.
Your head rested back against the bath rim. You felt them coming, the tears, and you’d let them fall. The very least you could give Miche was free-falling tears - you wouldn’t wipe them away, he fought long and hard enough to have deserved them, you knew that much.
Of course, he was only the first of many casualties that day. Nanaba was gone too, as well as others - some you thought you trusted but no longer could. Then the countless injuries to stack on top of it all.
It was such a shame, an age-old war needing the sacrifice of young lives in order to be eventually won or lost.
Your eyes cast downwards, looking at the fresh cuts, grazes, burns, and bruises littering your skin. They’d add to your skin’s collection of marks rather nicely. You pinched your skin between your fingers, remembering a time when you were better fed and weren’t running around after cadets all day. You didn’t like thinking about that.
With a deep breath in and closed eyes, you pressed your fingers to your nose and slid down into the water, staying there just under the surface until your lungs burned and your knees ached from being bent so. You shot up out of the water, taking in quiet gulps of air and pushed your - now - wet hair out of your face.
“You sloshed.” A voice behind you commented. Your instinct was the freeze up, but you knew that tone, and that voice. Levi.
“You didn’t knock.” You rested back against the tub, lifting your arms to hang over the sides. You didn’t look back at him.
He shuffled around behind you, and eventually dropped a chair by your side and towels on the floor to half-effort a clean-up of your spilt bath water.
You looked over at him, locking your eyes with a pair that was already on yours. His nose almost twitched into a frown.
“You’ve been crying.” You grunted at that.
“Hange should call you Captain Obvious, not Captain Shorty.” He reached over, tugging your hair in a uncharacteristically soft warning.
“Don’t go thinking you’re the only one that will miss him, he was everyone’s friend.”
Levi Ackerman was not a tactful man.
His eyes raked down your face, and then back up again. He wasn’t sitting close enough to look at anything else other than your arms - only because they were still dripping water onto the towels below. Then he visibly - even so still small - grimaced.
“You’re washing your hair, right?” he asked and you were going to answer, but then he kept on, “It’s greasy, matted. Downright filthy - did you bathe in the titan’s muck before you came here?” You frowned at him.
“Well, I wasn’t planning to, then you asked and I decided I would, but then you insulted me so I think I won’t. Just to piss you off.” you said, sticking your nose in the air with a sniff as you sunk lower into the water.
“You won’t, fine.” he said, “Let me do it then.” You raised an eye at him, and he rolled his eyes at you. “I’m sitting here with nowhere else to be, and you need your hair washed. Win, win.”
You said nothing, only sinking further into the bath, with your mouth underwater and now a questionable amount of legs sticking out the other end.
“If you want it washed, then let me wash it for you,” he added. You turned your head over again, only just being able to meet his eyes over the rim. “I won’t look, if that’s what you’re hesitating about.”
You snorted into the water, sitting yourself up to laugh without drowning yourself. His almost caring delivery of the phrase, paired with his eye roll was comical. After settling, and ignoring Levi’s steely glare for a good few minutes, you let out a sigh.
“Fine, just this once.”
“I wasn’t planning on washing your hair for you forever brat.” He said, and moved his chair over so it was behind you.
You supposed, if he didn’t shove you underwater and call it a rinse, getting your hair washed for you would be fine. Nice even. But you didn’t expect for it to feel that relaxing. Sitting there, as the bath water cooled, you felt his fingers run through your hair. Pulling the tangles out with patience that would only be found in a thousand people. Washing out the dirt, mud, sweat, grease, and blood with every pour of a jug.
You prayed to whatever higher beings there were that his fingers would always work in such a way forever. It would be cruel to have them taken away when they could massage the soap into your scalp so well.
Only once did you get dunked - but that was because you threatened him with the idea that he was enjoying washing your hair as much as you were enjoying the feeling of it.
You thought he did, at least, and you knew he’d never admit it if your idea was true.
But whenever you find yourself in the bath at 2 am, when you’re at your lowest and ready to forget the long, taxing, and trying days, he’s always there to wash your hair.
So then you knew.

Just One Picture
Pairing: Kyoru | Rating: G | Words: ~1600
AO3 | FF.net
Summary: In which Tohru buys a cat onesie for their son and Kyo can't find it in himself to hate it. Post-manga spoilers
I saw an ask a while ago from @kyosohmastan talking about a headcanon that Tohru buys cat onesies for Kyo and Hajime. I loved the idea, so I wrote it lol
~
Kyo sits on the floor of the living room, back pressed against the side of the sofa, as he waits for his wife to get home from her shopping trip.
His eyes flicker from the television, which he's not really paying attention to, to his son playing on the floor in front of him, several toys strewn about. Hajime sits with his chubby toddler legs outstretched as he tries to force a triangle-shaped block into a square hole.
Usually he would let his son figure it out on his own, but after about the tenth attempt, Kyo decides to step in.
He carefully grabs Hajime's tiny wrist, guiding the block to the right place. He puts it so the hand holding the block is hovering over the triangular shaped hole, perfectly aligned.
"It's right here, Hajime, see?" he tells him, and let's go of his hand.
Kyo sees Hajime's little forehead scrunch in confusion as his son looks back to the square hole. Kyo sees Hajime's hand waiver a bit, wanting to go back and keep trying to cram the triangle block in the wrong place until he somehow succeeds.
Kyo can't help but laugh at his son's stubbornness; it's like looking in a mirror after all. Eventually Hajime slowly puts the block in the right place.
Kyo lets out a triumphant whoop and claps. Hajime begins clapping his little hands together as he copies his father, before Kyo picks him up and tosses him in the air a bit. Both father and son are smiling contagious grins when Kyo comes to rest Hajime on his hip. Kyo kisses the top of his head before praising how smart he is in a goofy voice. He squishes Hajime's pudgy cheek for good measure.
Sometimes Kyo wonders how his son has made him so willing to do such silly things, things he never thought he would ever do before, but he quickly found out after Hajime was born that he would do anything to make his baby laugh.
The squeal of delight that comes from Hajime lodges it's way into Kyo's heart, and it strikes Kyo again how much he loves this tiny human. This tiny human he and Tohru made, and he realized a long time ago he would do anything for.
Sometimes the love he feels is a little overwhelming, especially because Kyo never knew he would ever be able love anything as much as he loves his family. Never having a loving family himself, he'd been a tad scared he wouldn't know how to be a good parent. But that fear was put to rest as soon as he held Hajime for the first time at the hospital. He knew he would never be able to do anything other than love and protect his baby for as long as he's able.
Any thoughts of his own parents' failures were buried deep in the back of his mind. They simply didn't matter anymore, because he knows the love he has for his family is unconditional and that would never change.
And Kyo can't wait to see how their family's love will continue to grow.
Kyo sighs with a content smile on his face. He ruffles his son's orange hair before setting him back down with his toys.
Just as Hajime moves to pick up another block, the sound of the door unlocking catches both of their attention.
The door opens and Tohru makes her way through the threshold, one hand holding two bags and the other fiddling to lock the door as she shuts it behind her.
Hajime shouts "Mama!" and tries his best to stand up to greet her, only to fall back down to his hands and knees, settling on crawling to where she stands by the entry way.
Kyo stands as well as his wife hangs her keys on a hook and kneels down to their son. He makes his way over to the two of them.
Tohru grins as she picks up Hajime. "Well hello my beautiful boy!" she tells him, placing kisses all over his face as he giggles.
Tohru settles him on her hip as she turns her head toward Kyo. "And hello my beautiful husband," she laughs softly as Kyo greets her with a light kiss on the lips.
"Hello to you too," Kyo says back, cheeks a bit pink. "Did you find everything you needed?"
Tohru smiles. "And more!"
"Well that's good," Kyo replies, and for a moment, just takes in the picture of his wife holding their son. Motherhood suits Tohru so well, and while Kyo knows both he and his wife have their flaws, he often wonders how they manage to make their family feel so close to perfect.
"Let me take those bags," Kyo offers, gesturing to the shopping bags still hanging from Tohru's arm.
"Thank you, Kyo," she says, "You can just put them on the table. I'll get to them in a minute."
Tohru then goes to sit down, her son in her lap as she leans her head against the back of the sofa.
Kyo places the bags on the table as he was asked, about to go join his family before something in one of the bags catches his eye.
He runs his hand over the soft orange material before holding it up to see what it is.
He squints. "Um, Tohru, what is this?"
Tohru looks up. "Oh!" she exclaims before getting up and making her way towards Kyo, Hajime still in her arms.
"That was part of the 'and more'!" she tells him, sitting Hajime on the table and taking the piece of clothing from Kyo.
She turns it around in her hands. "It's a little toddler cat onesie! I saw it and thought of you. It was just so cute, I had to get it for Hajime!"
Without missing a beat or paying attention to Kyo's bemused expression, Tohru lays their son down on the table and does her best to wrestle him into the onesie.
When she's finally done, she picks Hajime up and pulls the hood up onto his head. Little cat ears poke up from the hood, and Kyo can see a little tail coming from the back.
"Doesn't he look adorable! Just like Daddy." Tohru says, placing a kiss on Hajime's cheek.
Kyo wishes he could dislike it. After everything he went through being the zodiac cat, after all the bullying, ridicule, and exile from his own family, one would think he would have absolutely no love for anything with any association to cats.
And yet, despite all of the bad memories, all Kyo can think about when he looks at his son dressed as a cat, is how his wife saw the onesie and only thought of how cute it was. She wasn't thinking of the bad memories, only the good ones. She said it reminded her of him... and it wasn't a bad reminder in the way the other Sohma's may have seen it, but a happy one.
Kyo ignores the burning behind his eyes as he's reminded of Tohru's ability to find good in almost everything; one of the many reasons why he loves her.
And Kyo has to admit it, his son does look absolutely adorable in it.
Kyo laughs softly as he puts his arm around Tohru's shoulder and kisses her cheek. "I'd say that was a pretty good buy. He looks really cute."
"Really?" Tohru asks, "You think so?"
Kyo nods and Tohru immediately jerks her chin in the direction of the second bag.
"I'm so glad you say that, because I actually got one for you too."
Hold on. "Wait what?" Kyo looks into the other bag, finding another piece of orange clothing, but this time it's much bigger.
"Yeah!" Tohru says, "They had the same onesie in an adult size and I couldn't say no to the sign from fate that I just had to get both."
Kyo raises his eyebrows. "You want me to wear it?" he asks incredulously.
Tohru giggles. "Oh come on, Kyo. It'll be so cute," she cups his face with the hand not holding Hajime, "Just like your kitty cat form was so cute."
When Kyo starts to shake his head, words beginning to spill from his mouth, Tohru interrupts. "Even if it's just one picture with you holding Hajime. Just one picture for us to have for our family. No one ever has to know but us. Pleeeeaaaase?"
Kyo bites his lip at her pleading, though he knows she's really just messing with him. He can see it in her grin. But he also knows she really does want a picture of both him and their son dressed as cats.
He sighs internally, giving in. Where's the harm really?
"Yeah okay. Just one picture, though, Tohru. That's it."
She picks up the onesie from where Kyo had dropped it back in the bag. She smiles even brighter. "That's all we need!"
She kisses him on the cheek before handing the piece of clothing to him. "Go change so we can get this one picture," she mocks him kind-heartedly.
He kisses her back before taking the onesie. "Anything for you," he tells her, over-dramatically. "But I get the feeling you already knew that."
She giggles as he goes to change.
She sighs with a grin on her face as Kyo exits the room. She boops Hajime's nose with her finger before moving the same hand to her stomach.
"Daddy's so silly, isn't he?" Tohru says and she thinks of the other infant-size cat onesie she left in the car, a gift she can't wait to surprise Kyo with for Father's Day in a couple of weeks.
She smiles tenderly down at her belly, still flat enough no one could possibly know of the newest little Sohma growing there.
"I can't wait until we can all be silly together."

Some notes before you guys read. If you didn’t see my post I had an idea for a fic about the reader being a Cosplayer how gets transported to the jojo universe while they are cosplaying and they run into the character they are dressed as. I hope you guys enjoy the first chapter. I plan on having 3 or 4 total
Fancy seeing you here
Chapter 1
Rohan Kishibe
It’s a warm Thursday morning. It’s the first day of the convention you’ve been looking forward to for months. You’ve been staying up till god know when , sewing and building your cosplays. Styling wigs and gathering props when you have free time after class. Day 1 is Rohan Kishibe. Your number 1 favorite character. You’ve decided to go with his iconic white crop jacket outfit with gold pen tip pendents and an iconic gold head band. With your perfectly styled green wig on and your fountain pen and part 4 manga book in hand you make your way to the convention center.
As you walk down the street to meet up with your friends you feel a sudden jolt of energy and black out. When you wake up you are laying on the side walk, but you don’t recognize the street you are on. You get yourself to your feet and take in your surroundings. You don’t see any signs of the convention center or anyone in cosplay.
“Hey Rohan Sensei!”
You jump at the voice coming from behind you,
‘Thank god someone recognized my character’
You spin around to greet the person calling out to you. When you finally see the face of the voice you can’t believe your eyes.
“Wow that has to be one of the best Josuke cosplays I’ve ever seen”
The young man pauses and his jaw drops
“You’re not Rohan, you’re dressed like him but you’re not Rohan who the hell are you?”
You take a second to look him up and down
“Of course im not actually him he’s not real, but I have to say you’re Josuke is incredible, you look as if you walked right out of the manga, are you on your way to the convention”
In that moment the man dressed as Josuke grabs your wrist
“I’ve never seen you before how do you know my name, and what do you mean cosplay? This is what I look like everyday and you never explained why you are dressed like Rohan”
Pulling your wrist free you push the young man away from you and take off running down the street. You run for a few blocks before coming to what looks like a city map. It reads;
“Morioh City Map”
You freeze before opening the manga you remember you brought with you, the Morioh map in the book matches the map in front of you.
“What the actual hell is going on here I can’t seriously be in Morioh it isn’t real”
You look around to see buildings on the street line up with buildings illustrated in your book. You punch yourself in the leg several times
“Wake up, wake up, this isn’t real... wake up”
To your surprise you don’t wake up.
“If this really is Morioh then that young man was really Josuke, and I’m not in my own reality anymore, how did I even get here...... and I’m dressed up like Rohan Kishibe, god the people here are gonna think I’m crazy or that I’m actually him”
After you calm yourself down you realize this experience is kinda like a dream come true. You’re in your favorite universe. And you got to meet Josuke Higashkita. You spend the day exploring the city since you’ve read the book you know it like that back of your hand. As you explore you are careful to stay out of sight of any major characters. However a few people have greeted you as “Rohan Sensei” they think you are actually him. As you roam around you happen to see Koichi and Yukako on a date, and Okuyasu walking into tonis, but you make sure that they don’t see you.
You’ve yet to see Rohan himself, but you assume he’s most likely working in his studio. As much as you don’t want him to see you, you can’t help but wander the streets till you come across his house. You feel butterflies in your stomach.
Rohan’s character has always held a special place in your heart, hell the manga you brought along with you is the one where he makes his first appearance. The illustrations of his house are spot on to the building in front of you. After looking the house over you decide you should move on to avoid being seen. As you turn to walk away you feel some one grab you and spin you around, but before you can see the persons face you black out.
When you wake up you are on a soft, plush green couch. When you regain all your senses you finally see the person who grabbed you, hes standing above you with your manga in hand. The person staring you down is none other than Rohan Kishibe himself.
“Who are you?... why are you dressed like me, and why am I in this book of yours”
You sit up swiftly and look him in the eyes
“You just used heavens door on me didn’t you, wouldn’t that have a told you everything?”
Rohan drops the book on the floor
“How..... how did you know about my stand? And when I tried to read your pages they were blank.... you have some explaining to do”
You’re jaw drops, his stand doesn’t work on you because you’re not from his universe that has to be why
“My....my name is y/n. I’m not from here”
Rohan rolls his eyes
“That was blatantly obvious”
“I mean I’m not from this universe, where I’m from you aren’t real, this town isn’t real, it’s all just a story”
You stand up and grab the book flipping through the pages till you come to Rohan’s pages
“Where I’m from people who are fans of these books, which became a tv show dress as their favorite characters and go to conventions... that’s why I’m dressed like you”
Rohan braces himself on the couch before sitting down to process what he had just hear. After he calms down he looks up at you and smiles
“So does that mean I’m your favorite character?”
You smile
“Yes, you are, ever since you were introduced to me in the manga I fell in love with you. Your style and attitude reminded me a lot of myself”
Rohan lets out a laugh
“ A lot of people wish they could be me, you’ve really taken it to another level.... I’m flattered. Say... that do you actually look like
You blush
“ well what are you waiting for... of with the costume”
You stare at him
“I don’t have any other clothes”
He rolls his eyes
“We are both adults here just strip to your underwear, I won’t disrespect a young lady like yourself”
You remove the crop jacket and toss it on the couch then move to take of the head band and wig.
“I need a wet cloth to take of this make up if you don’t mind”
Rohan stands up and walks to his kitchen. Meanwhile you remove your wig cap, then your pants and crop top. Leaving you in your bra and underwear. Rohan returns and hands you the cloth, you wipe of your contour and green eyebrows.
“There it’s all off, you happy?”
Rohan looks you up and down
“I have to say your have quiet the talent for becoming other people, you pull me of very well for a woman... you can put your clothes back on now”
Slipping your pants and crop top back on you leave off the jacket and wig. You sit on the couch next to Rohan and explain what your universe is like and how much he means to you.
“I just don’t know how to get back to my world, I mean I don’t live here at all where am I gonna stay?... what am I gonna do?”
Realizing this send you into a panic, you start hyperventilating and crying, you then burry your face in your hands. A few moments pass before you fell a warm set of arms hold you
“Y/n it’s alright, you can stay with me till we figure out how to get you home. I don’t usually care for people all that much, but seeing how much you care about me, a person who doesn’t really exist in your world inspires me”
Hearing Rohan’s words you begin to calm down.
“Thank you Rohan, I can’t tell you how much of a dream come true this all is, in fact I’m afraid that I am dreaming still.”
Rohan smiles and grabs his sketch book
“I don’t know how long you’ll be here but I wanna capture you before you leave”
You sit quietly as Rohan sketches away thinking about how you wish you could stay here forever
“Finished, one sketch of you as you are and one sketch of you as me”
He flips around his sketch book and shows you his work, you take it in and start to cry
“Rohan, you are amazing and I wish I was half the person you are”
Rohan rips the sketch from his book
“I’m going to hang this on the wall in my studio, because I wish I was half the person you are y/n. Now let’s get you to bed it’s getting late and we have a big day tomorrow, I’m going to show you around the whole city”
Rohan leads you to the guest room, and says goodnight. You get in bed and think of the amazing day you had as you drift off to sleep.
The next morning Rohan rushes into the guest room to find it empty. You are nowhere to be found. His head falls in disappointment
“ I don’t think she’d be gone so soon, I do hope to see her again someday”
~
When you wake up you find yourself back in your room laying in bed in full cosplay, manga in hand. You are relived to be home but you start to cry knowing you’ll probably never see Rohan again. He will remain a fictional character here in your world. Opening your manga just so you can see his face again, you flip to a page of him sitting in his studio. As he is illustrated sitting at his desk working ,you catch a small detail , to his right there is a sketch pinned to the wall. A tear falls from your eye landing on the page, the sketch is the one he did of you.

An Unbreakable Bond Ch. 7
I am back and finally here with chapter seven. Hopefully this chapter will make up for how short chapter six is. lol  Hopefully not many typo’s in this, I spent forever going over it just to make sure. A few more characters enter this fic, starting here. :) Also for some clarification on the ages in this story:
Karin & Yuzu Kurosaki = 15.
Ichigo Kurosaki = 19.
I know it is told in the story that Ichigo is a senior, let’s just say him and his friends all graduate at 19. I mean they seriously missed a lot of school in the manga, maybe they all got held back a grade? LOL Just go with me here. lol Also, did anyone else know Toshiro Hitsugaya’s age is 80 and he is supposed to appear 10? I always figured he was ‘younger’ then Rukia. So let’s say in this (since its been like three years) he’s more 83 looking like he’s 15. LOL
Disclaimer: I don’t own Bleach. (just my love for writing fics)
Chapter 7. Connections
Rukia's eyes fluttered open at the sound of birds chirping outside the window. She blinked a few times before looking over towards her right, where Ichigo was still asleep. She couldn't help giving a smile, seeing his face buried in the pillow. She went to sit up, as he moved to lay on his back, clearly still asleep. An idea popped into her head.
Leaning forward, face hovering over his. She watched as his eyes started to flicker open before she bent down, pressing her lips to his. She heard him make a sound in the back of throat, obviously surprised. He responded back slowly, hand reaching to entangle in her hair. She pulled back after a moment, opening her eyes and gazing down at him.
He was blushing slightly, before giving her a smirk and leaning up to lay back on his elbows. She sat back, giving him a coy smile back.
"Morning to you too, Midget."
Her eyebrow twitched at his words, before she stuck her leg out, pushing her foot into his side. He fell onto the floor, wrapped up in his bed sheets. She couldn't help but smirk as she looked over the bed to see him tangled in the bed sheets; glaring up at her.
"Don't you think you should be calling me something else now?" He squinted at her, trying to see where she was going with this.
"Such as?" She laid sideways on the bed, head poking out over the bed to look at him still on the floor; elbows propped up and her head in her hands.
"I don't know.. like 'dear' or 'hunny' or even 'bunny'" Her eyes lit up at the last one, as he cringed. He could not imagine calling her that. Plus he hated bunnies.
"I would rather jump off my roof in human form then call you that." He muttered, still cringing. She rolled her eyes at his exaggeration.
"Plus, no matter what I call you you're still a midget so I might as well-"
Before he could finish his face was being smothered by his pillow as she straddled his waist. He flailed his arms before reaching for her wrists, trying to get the pillow off. She laughed above him before pulling the pillow off, his face was red as he panted for air.
"Why you-" he sputtered before he realized she was on top of him. His face then became red for a different reason. All she could do was smile in accomplishment.
"Ichigo, you are a fool." She said sweetly to him before getting out of his lap and going to grab some clothes from the dresser drawer. He untangled himself out of the sheets with a huff before laying them back on the bed where they belonged. He watched her walk to the bedroom door and open it as he walked behind her, shutting it before she could walk out. She turned around, willing to throw another pillow in his face until he leaned down to kiss her. He put his hands on her waist, gently pushing her back into the door and slightly pulling away to look at her with a smile on his face.
"Still a fool." She whispered out before leaning up and kissing him back.
--
An hour later the pair were dressed and ready for the new day; cooking breakfast. Isshin sat at the kitchen table with them, sipping his coffee. Once done they sat down at the table in silence and ate before Rukia spoke up. "When will your sisters be home?" she asked, as she finished off her eggs with vigor. She could get used to his cooking.
"Should be another hour I think?" Ichigo said, looking at the clock. It was an hour before noon. Rukia nodded her head before sipping her coffee.
"Do you have any plans today Isshin?" She asked, turning her head to looking over at him. He looked up from his newspaper givng her a smile before replying.
"Just clinic work today my dear third daughter! It's usually pretty busy in the summer." He got up to put his empty coffee cup in the sink before walking over to Ichigo and ruffling his hair. Ichigo batted his hand away in annoyance. Rukia laughed.
"Alright kids, I'll be in the clinic. If it's not busy I'll be back in an hour to see my two lovely daughters reunite with their wonderful third!" He exclaimed loudly before running over to the poster of Masaki with tears streaming down his face talking about how happy he was to know his daughters will be reunited soon.
Ichigo ignored him while he finished his breakfast. Rukia watched on in amusement before looking over to Ichigo, who rolled his eyes in response muttering 'crazy old man' under his breath as Isshin left to head to the clinic,
Rukia got up as Ichigo finished and cleared the plates off the table. She began washing them as he stood beside her grabbing a clean towel to dry them with.
"You know you don't have to do that, right? You're on vacation." He said before grabbing the clean plate from her hands and beginning to dry it before setting it in the rack.
"I actually enjoy washing dishes. I don't get to do stuff like this while living in the Kuchiki Estate."
She didn't get to do any chores living with her brother. Then again she was always busy with paperwork and the duties that come with being a Lieutenant.
But she still enjoyed the simple things. Ichigo nodded in understanding while he continued to dry the washed dishes.
"I thought you'd be moved out of the Estate to be honest, since you're a Lieutenant now." He said, while he finished drying the last dish. Rukia turned the water off, mulling over his words. She went to dry her hands before leaning her back on the kitchen counter.
"I thought about it.. I was given the option once I was promoted. Lieutenants and Captains have their own corridors in their Division. But after the war with Aizen.. It wouldn't have felt right to leave the Estate. Nii-sama was very worried about me." She said softly, before looking at the ground. Ichigo couldn't help but be a little surprised hearing that her brother was very worried. He knew that Byakuya cared for his adopted sister. He was just never very good at showing it.  Noticing her declining mood, he grabbed her hand and led her to the living room sofa. They sat down next to one another as he waited for her to continue.
"He has been pushing for awhile about me taking some time off to relax. He knew how hard it was for me after returning to Soul Society. I really think he knew I missed you."
She glanced over at him then as he gave her an understanding look back. He would always understand. She gave a smile leaning back on the sofa as he did the same. She curled her legs up on the sofa, still holding onto his hand. "I've been thinking the last few months about moving into my own corridors now though. I wont be to far away from the Estate. Ukitake will be in the next corridor over and his illness has been acting up so I think it will be good to be close to him."
Ichigo sat back and though about her words. He was sad to hear about Ukitake not doing too well, the Captain had always been very kind to him. He was happy for Rukia, if she decided to move out of the Estate. He supported her no matter what decision she made on the matter. He couldn't help but to think about his friends in Soul Society.
"How's everyone been doing since the war?" he asked gently. He knew the war with Aizen was a sensitive subject for both of them. He glanced at her, as she looked down at their intertwined hands before leaning into his shoulder.
"It was hard for everyone at first. Renji was okay.. but was worried about everyone else. Rangiku was heartbroken about Gin's death, and she was worried about Captain Hitsugaya.. who still blames himself for what happened to Momo.." she trailed off, feeling a little breathless after saying what she had. She held onto his hand tighter before continuing.
"We all became a lot closer once we returned. We took turns seeing Momo in the hospital, Hitsugaya was there every night and was training every day for months afterwards. It was his way of coping with what had happened. Rangiku made sure to never be too far away. I decided to train with him weekly."
She couldn't help the tears that came to her eyes. She had never been very close to Hinamori but she cared for her just like she cared for every single one of her comrades and friends. It broke her heart to see Rangiku heart broken over the death of Gin, and Hitsugaya heart broken over what happened to his best friend. The times she did train with the 10th Division Captain, the look in his eyes made it very obvious how much he was hurting. Rukia looked up to see Ichigo giving her a concerned look.
"Is Momo still..." he really didn't want to ask the full question. He remembered what had happened to Hinamori very vividly. It was something he had had a few nightmares about. He may not be her friend but she was still his comrade and it hurt to remember. Rukia nodded her head before clearing her throat to explain.
"She is still alive. She's still in a coma though. They don't know if she will ever wake up. Unohana has tried everything she can think of to help her, but nothing has worked. Rukia leaned more into him, giving a shaky sigh before continuing.
"Hitsugaya still trains, not as much as before but still pushes himself when he does. He still visits with Momo almost every night." Rukia then remembered a conversation her and the 10th Division Captain had had a few days before Ichigo had gotten his powers back.
"He's actually been wanting to take a day and get clearance to come to The World of The Living to visit Karin. But he's afraid if he leaves and the worst happens to Momo.. he will not be able to live with himself."
Rukia could feel a migraine coming on, she knew it was from her holding back her tears but she could not let them fall. She had cried enough the last two years. She felt her breathing calm down as she took deep breaths; when she felt Ichigo stroke his thumb over the top of her hand; a silent comfort she was very grateful for.
"After dad told Karin and Yuzu everything, he said Karin asked him if Hitsugaya was still alive. Apparently, she got pretty emotional when he told her that he had gotten injured but he was going to be okay. Karin never gets emotional.. not since after mom died."
Rukia's eyes widened at that. She knew the Captain was friends with Karin but did not realize how much he meant to her. She watched Ichigo as he scrunched up his eyebrows, squinting at nothing in particular. Rukia could only imagine where his mind was going.
"You don't need to worry, Ichigo. Karin may be friends with a Shinigami but no harm is going to come to her. I wish he would visit though.. he needs some time away. I really think it would make him feel better if he saw a friend." Ichigo sighed at her words, while hanging his head. He knew she was right. As Karin's brother, it was just weird to think about.
"Ah, I know. It just kind of weirds me out. I mean, Karin is the same age as I was when I met you!" He said while rubbing his neck. Rukia leaned forward and smirked at him, waiting for him to realize what he had just said. A moment later he whipped his head around, looking at her with wide panicked eyes as his mouth fell open.
"You don't think.. I mean, she's fifteen!" He exclaimed loudly. He suddenly felt sick thinking about it. Rukia held back her laugh, not wanting to insult him but it was kiind of funny to see his reaction to the possibility of "feelings" being involved between his sister and Hitsugaya.
"Do you think you loved me the first year you knew me, Ichigo?" she asks with a smile. He looked at her thoughtfully, before he took his hand out of hers and wrapping it around her shoulders.
"I'm positive I did, yeah."
"That first year would you say you protected me with your life?" She asked, leaning more into his chest. He laid his chin on the top of her head, knowing the answer to her question without hesitation.
"I'd say I protected you since the first day I met you, Rukia." she smiled warmly at his response.
"Then you have nothing to worry about. Plus they're just friends." He sighed again before looking up at the ceiling.
"I mean how old even if he? Is he around your age.. does he still look like he's twelve?"
Rukia couldn't help but laugh out loud at that before playfully slapping him upside the head.
"Hey, It was an honest question."
He rubbed his head before grinning at her, he knew she thought it was hilarious.
"He's gotten a little taller."
"Unlike you?"
"OW! Rukia, that one actually hurt!"
--
Half an hour later, Rukia is anxiously waiting for Yuzu and Karin to arrive home. She couldn't hide her excitement.
"You're really excited, aren't you?" Ichigo sat on the sofa watching his girlfriend pace the living room floor. Without hearing a response, he got up and stopped her pacing; placing his hands on her shoulders. She looked up at him right as they heard the front door unlocking. Her eyes widened and an excited grin broke out on her face.
"Go hide in the kitchen while I greet them." He whispered before giving her a short kiss. She skipped to the kitchen as Ichigo went to greet his sisters at the door.
"Ichigo, we're home! OH! You're right there." Yuzu laughed, seeing her brother right by the door. Which was very odd for him to do. Karin followed in behind her sister, giving her brother a strange look before her eyes went wide. Ichigo gave a puzzled look back. Karin was looking him like she knew..
'shit, she can sense my spiritual pressure.'
He had completely forgotten that Kain's abilities had grown stronger over the last two years. It seemed after Ichigo's powers were gone, hers grew. Unlike Ichigo, she was very good at sensing  reiatsu. It was a good thing Rukia was in a Gigai and had better control over her reiatsu then he did.
"I'm going to put our bags upstairs, Karin. Then let's have a snack." Karin nodded watching her sister go up the stairs before turning back to her brother, an eyebrow raised in question; silently demanding answers. He wondered if he should just play stupid.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Why are you leaking reiatsu everywhere?! I thought your powers were gone." She whispered, even though she knew no one could hear her.
"Let's just say, it's been an eventful weekend." She squinted her eyes at him, urging him to give more information. Thankfully, Yuzu came down the stairs then.
"How was your weekend, Ichigo?" Yuzu asked while heading to the kitchen, Ichigo and Karin trailing behind her.
"I was actually pretty good." He said, with a growing grin on his face. They were very close to finding out why.
"Oh, why's tha-" Yuzu stopped in her tracks. Eyes wide, looking at the raven haired Shinigami standing in their kitchen.
"Hi Yuzu, Karin."
"RUKIA!!" The girls rushed over to her enveloping her in a hug. Ichigo could tell Yuzu was crying, even Karin looked a little teary eyed. Ichigo watched the happy reunion before he glanced over seeing his father behind him, watching as well.
"So son!" Isshin said, slapping his son on the back. Ichigo lurched forward, but caught himself and gave his father an irriated look.
"When should I expect grandchildren?!"
The teens face turned red, scowling at his fathers question before wrestling him to the ground.
"YOU CAN'T JUST ASK SOMETHING LIKE THAT YOU OLD MAN, AND IM ONLY NINETEEN." He screamed at his father while putting him in a head lock. The girls broke a part from their embrace, watching the dramatic scene unfold in front of them.
"BUT IMAGINE HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY WILL BE, SON." Isshin had happy tears streaming down his face as he broke out of Ichigo's head lock. Rukia realizing what the conversation was about, blushes before walking to the dramatic men before grabbing Ichigo by the ear and dragging him away from his overly enthusiastic father.
"OW, OW, DAMMIT RUKIA, you're gonna tear my ear off!" Rolling her eyes, she let go before walking back over to the girls who looked highly amused at the scene that just unfolded in front of them. Shortly after, they sat down at the table; as Ichigo and Isshin brushed themselves off before sitting down as well.
"Rukia, how are you here?! Did Ichigo get his powers back?!" Yuzu asked excitedly as she looked between Rukia and Ichigo.
"Yes, he did. Kisuke developed a sword that I was able to draw my spiritual energy into and I was able to give him half of mine." she stated softly, a growing grin on her face. Yuzu teared up again before getting up and giving Rukia another hug.
"Thank you so much! He's been so sad since you've been gone!" She stated tearfully into Rukia's shoulder. Rukia softly patted her on the back before Yuzu pulled away and sat back down.
"I understand. I was very sad too." she confessed, her gaze turning to Ichigo. In moments like this it hit her all at once that she was the opposite of sad now. She went from being incredily depressed to incredibly happy in three weeks time.
"How long are you staying?" Karin questioned.
"I have twelve more days here before I have to head back. I was able to request two weeks off once Ichigo got his powers back." The girls smiled happily at her before Rukia turned her gaze to the center of the table, her face turning somber.
"I want to apologize to you both. I should have explained what had happened before I left. It was unfair to you both for me to leave without saying why." The twins eyes widened at her words, realizing she was blaming herself. To everyone's surprise, Karin spoke before Yuzu could.
"You don't need to apologize, Rukia. Dad told us everything. I will admit.. I was angry at first because I didn't understand. But I get it now." Rukia met Karin's eyes, seeing complete understanding in them.
"Karin is right. It's nothing you need to be sorry about. We know it was very hard for you to go back after Ichigo lost his powers." Yuzu said softly, before reaching a hand out over the table to grab Rukia's.
"You're so strong, Rukia. You and Ichigo both." Yuzu said smiling, feeling the tears in the back of her eyes. Rukia felt her own tears in the corners of her eyes.
She knew they were her family. She couldn't imagine them not in her life. Her connection to Ichigo was life altering, in a way she had never experienced before with anyone else. She felt so lucky to be able to have a connection with his family as well.
For the next hour the Kurosaki family sat around the kitchen table catching up. Yuzu made tea and brought out some chips and cookies for everyone to much on as they all chatted.
"So how have things been for you, Rukia?" Yuzu asked sweetly before grabbing another cookie.
"Things have been good. I was promoted to Lieutenant." She said proudly. They all grinned and congratulated her.
"Thank you. Aside from that it's been.. busy. But things have calmed down since the war. Things have gotten a lot better over the weekend as well, since Ichigo got his powers back." she turned her gaze to Ichigo who was trying not to blush, realizing what exactly she was tallking about. She met his eyes and couldn't help but smirk.
"What was THAT?" Karin questioned rather bluntly, eyebrows raised at her brother and the Shinigami.
"Hmm? What was what?" Ichigo asked, breaking his eye contact with Rukia who in turn stifled a laugh behind her hand.
"Ohhhh! I saw it too, Karin!" Yuzu said excitedly, leaning forward on the kitchen table while looking between the two. Rukia felt her face heat up at their realization.
"Something happened between you two! I can feel it! Do you guys even realize what your reiatsu does when you're near each other now?" Karin questioned them, while leaning on the kitchen table as well. She was obviously smirking, waiting for them to fess up what she already knew.
"Wha-? What are you talking about?" Rukia was rather confused. She knew she was good at hiding her reiatsu, Ichigo not so much. Was her reiatsu coming out when she was near Ichigo and didn't even realize it?
"You haven't noticed? It's like.." Karin then made a weird swirling motion with her hands.
"It's like.. swirling together? Or more like recognizing each other and meeting? It's kind of cool, I've never seen anything like it before." Karin said with a grin on her face, patiently waiting for them to confess. Yuzu squinted at the pair, as if she was trying to see their spiritual pressure too. Rukia's eyes met Ichigo's again, waiting for him to say something. Ichigo realized they were all looking at him, even his father was with his elbow propped up on the table and holding his head in his hand.
"Please, do tell son." Isshin said with a huge grin on his face, which only made Ichigo turn more red. He scowled before throwing his hands up in defeat.
"Fine! You guys figured it out. I shouldn't really be surprised. Me and Rukia.. are together now."
Their were gasps around the table, even from his father. Ichigo glared at him, laying his hand on the table.
"Why are you sounding so surprised? You found out the night she came back!" He stated with clear agitation in his voice. The girls laughed before speaking up with excitement.
"I'm so happy for you both!" Yuzu squealed excitedly, practically bouncing out of her chair.
"Me too. It's about time." Karin said while leaning back in her chair, a smirk still present on her face. The new couple blushed, looking down at the table.
"Thank you both. And I agree, it was about time." Rukia said, laughing in her voice. The girls laughed at her remark before laughing even harder at seeing how red their brothers face was.
Once they were calmed down, Rukia glanced over at Karin. She knew she wanted to talk to her about something and felt now was the time.
"Karin. Would it be okay if you talked with me upstairs for a minute?" Karin looked over at Rukia, confusion in her eyes.
"Sure." She got up, and Rukia followed. She passed Ichigo, giving him a kiss on the cheek before following Karin up the stairs. She heard Yuzu squeal and Ichigo mutter 'oh, shut it' before making it all the way up the stairs. Karin went to her room, Rukia right behind her. Once inside she shut the door behind her. Karin went to sit on her bed and Rukia went to sit on Yuzu's. Karin had her back to the wall, her lehs cross crossed as she looked back at Rukia.
"So what did you want to talk about?" She was rather curious about what her shinigami friend had to say. Rukia gave a sigh before looking up, meeting the young girls eyes.
"I want to talk to you about Tōshirō Hitsugaya." Karin's eyes widened at her reply. She hadn't heard his name in a long time.
"I know he's your friend. I also know your father talked to both you and Yuzu and told you everything, and he told you Hitsugaya did survive the war." Rukia looked down at her hands resting in her lap. Karin felt her heart race up and Rukia talked about her friend.
"He has told me himself that he's been wanting to visit you the last two years, but there is a reason why he hasn't been able to." Rukia looked up at Karin. Her eyes were wide and Rukia could tell she was slightly shaking. Rukia slowly stood up from Yuzu's bed and went to sit next to Karin. She sat cross legged next to Karin before continuing.
"During the war.. his best friend Hinamori Momo was severely injured, because of Aizen." Rukia heard the young girls breath hitch. Rukia instinctively took a hold of one of her hands in hers and held it between them. She didn't think Karin even noticed.
"He.. he told me about her. How he grew up with her. She's like a sister to him." Karin blinked back tears, feeling the pain in her chest knowing her white haired friend has been hurting all these years.
"What exactly happened to her?" She asked hesitantly. She wanted to know but she was scared. She knew the war with Aizen was awful, with many people injured and dead. She was furious Aizen had done this to her loved ones.
"I feel it is not my place to tell you, it's Tōshirō's. The only reason he has not visited is because Momo is in a coma, and has been since the war. He's afraid to leave Soul Society, even for a day. Because he is scared the worst will happen to her. He will never be able to live with himself if the worst does happen and he isn't there by her side."
Rukia took a deep breath, trying not to become emotional. This was a very hard conversation to have with Ichigo's little sister. She knew it was effecting Karin, because her hold on Rukia's hand tightened as she bowed her head and held back her tears.
"I know.. this is hard to hear. But I know you needed to know. Tōshirō is also my friend and means a great deal to me. I want to help him, just as I'm sure you want to as well." Rukia scooted closer to Karin as the younger girl trembled.
"He didn't deserve this, neither did Momo. He is a good person, Rukia." Karin looked up then, a few tears leaking out as she looked at her friend that she saw as an older sister.
"I know, you are right. I don't understand why bad things happen to good people." Rukia said softly, through her own tears that she was holding back. Rukia thought about what she could do to help her friends. Then an idea came to her. She jumped out of the bed, motioning for Karin to follow her. She entered Ichigo's room and went to his desk where she had laid out a few of her things. Seeing the Soul Candy, she showed it to Karin and explained what it was for.
"I'm going to use this and enter my Soul Reaper form." She went to lay on Ichigo's bed, so her Gigai would not fall on the floor.
"Once I do, I'm going to summon a Hell Butterfly. They can be used to send messages to Soul Reapers in Soul Society. I can send a message to Tōshirō. What would you like me to tell him?"
Karin gaped at her, realizing what Rukia was telling her. She sat next to Rukia on the bed, her mind blank for a moment. As she thought, Rukia popped the Soul Candy in her mouth beside her in Soul Reaper form, sitting beside her on the bed.
"Can you tell him.. I understand why he hasn't visited. Tell him my father told me everything about Ichigo and about the war with Aizen. And that I don't know what exactly happened to Momo, but I'm sorry. And he's not alone." Rukia smiled at her, before nodding her head. She went to summon the Hell Butterfly before Karin stopped her, laying a hand on her wrist.
"And also that I miss him too." She whispered. Rukia looked into the young girls eyes, understanding.
"Ofcourse, Karin."
Karin watched as she summoned the Hell Butterfly. It landed on Rukia's finger, and she watched as Rukia closed her eyes and silently communicated the message. Once she was done, it flew off her finger and went out the bedroom window, heading towards it's destination.
"Thank you, Rukia."
"Anytime, Karin."
--
In the tenth Division, Captain Hitsugaya sat at his desk trying to focus on paperwork. It had been hours and as hard as he tried, he couldn't focus. His Lieutenant was nowhere to be seen and he sighed in aggravation at the thought of that. He considered going out to train for a few hours but knew he shouldn't. He had recently gotten word Momo's health was starting to rapidly decline. He felt it was best not to stray too far from her, just in case. He looked up and sighed again, before he noticed a Hell Butterfly heading towards him. Confused, he lifted up his finger as it lands at it's destination.
His eyes widen in shock at hearing Rukia's voice but even more so at what she has to say. Once the message has ended, the Hell Butterfly vanishes and he leans back into his chair before looking out the window; a small smile on his face. Karin may not be someone he has known for decades, yet it still felt like they had known each other that long; if not longer. He had felt a connection to her in a way that he really had only ever had with a few people. He was happy to hear from Karin Kurosaki. It was the best thing to happen to him in a long time. But his eyes grew sad, thinking back to Momo. Knowing what was surely to happen soon.
"I am sure you will see me soon, Karin Kurosaki."

Dear Aomi Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
Tumblr media
"I've seen you in a dream before, you are the warm and bright presence that embraced me on Cape Kamui a long time ago on a June afternoon."
Shinohara (Y/N) is a normal girl who had everything she could ask for, a loving family, a beautiful home, friends, and a fluffy cat. For a long time, she gave her life and happiness for granted, never imagining that she'll face one of the worst and crueler facades of society so closely, destroying what once was a happy, harmonious and normal family. One day, in hopes to recover what they lost, the Shinohara family took one of the more difficult decisions of their lives; leave behind their home back in Hokkaido and travel hundreds of miles south until Musutafu, the place that could grant them a solution and help close the yet fresh wound and scare away the ghosts of the past. Hardheaded, passionate, and ambitious (Y/N) is forced to confront the incarnated face of the superhuman society that she hated the most; Bakugou Katsuki.

Tumblr media
2-My Stupid Classmate, the Angry Dandelion
Running steps along tired panting could be heard through the empty streets. Both teens were now a good distance from school but adrenaline pushed them to keep going a little more. But once the necessity of breathing started to kick in, both decided that a break would be more than appreciated. They came to a halt at the entrance of a tunnel and concentrated now on catching their breath, once he was recovered enough to talk, Midoriya, timidly made the first comment. “Shi-Shi-Shinohara-san…!” (Y/N), getting one last intake through her nose, landed her eyes on Midoriya who whimpered nervously hardly believing that now he had officially talked to a girl who wasn’t his mom. “Huh? What is it?”
The poor boy, unsure of what to do and terribly flustered, tried to rearrange his thoughts while covering his reddened face with his arms.
“W-Why you di-did that?”
“What do you mean?”
“Confront Kacchan, de-defend me I mean” Midoriya almost whispered.
“And why shouldn’t I? You were being a victim of injustice so I stepped in, that’s how it works, if you see someone in trouble, you help them, that’s the correct thing to do isn’t it?”
Midoriya watched amazed at (Y/N) while she sweetly smiled at him, touched by her words.
“W-Well I guess b-but... you-you don’t think I’m a loser cause I’m quirkless?! A-Aren’t you going to avoid me like everybody else does? Make fun of me like the rest of the class?!”
“To be honest Midoriya, ‘til this moment you haven’t give me a single reason to do any of that, actually, you look like a nice guy.” Midoriya’s blood pressure was sky high at this point, a pretty girl faced no other than Bakugou fucking Katsuki for his sake twice in the timespan of eight hours, talked to him kindly and also complimented him? All in the same day?!
‘This is so crazy!’
“Midoriya?” (Y/N)’s voice interrupted his accelerated thoughts. “Y-Yes?!”
“Are you ok? I mean, Bakugou blasted your desk at the beginning of the class- oh by the way! What was that notebook you had earlier? ‘Hero notes for the future’ was it? I’m sorry I couldn’t stop him from burning it, but at least it didn’t end at a koi pond or something.” (Y/N) said with a closed-eye smile.
“I-It’s ‘He-Hero Analysis for the Fu-Fu-Future’ actually, b-but you g-got it close! H-Hero notes is ok! I-I mean if you want to call it that way! But you can call it whatever you like! If you want to put it a specific name it is, if not, it is ok! Oh my God...! This is kind of overwhelming, we just jumped from a third floor but we are safe and sound! I can’t believe you actually confronted Kacchan, b-but what if now he starts targeting you?! It would be all my fault! I’M SO SORRY SHINOHARA-SAN!! But unlike me, you could rely on your quirk to defend yourself, but after what happened today, he will try to take revenge for sure…! And my situation with him could get even worst, especially after what happened today! But even though…*mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter…*”
Midoriya kept blabbering and blabbering endlessly and (Y/N) just could sweat drop and observe him with eyes wide as saucers. ‘He definitely has no friends, huh? Even if it sounds mean, it was expected.’ (Y/N) took a deep breath and smiling at the awkward greenettte she decided to stop Midoriya’s creepy monologue before it got even longer.
“Midoriya…” She rose her hand and softly karate chopped the top of his fluffy head. “…snap out of it!” (Y/N) said while smiling at the now deeply flushed boy.
“I-I’m so sorry!” The poor boy said while aggressively bowing his head at a inhuman speed.
“Haha! No problem! You really are funny Midoriya! But please stop that you’ll damage your neck.”
“F-Funny?! M-Me?!”
“Yup! By the way, who’s Kacchan?”
“O-Oh, w-well Kacchan is actually Bakugou’s nickname, everybody used to call him like that when we were kids, I guess it just got stuck with me. His actual full name is Bakugou Katsuki.”
“Oh my God! You actually call him that all the time?! Hahaha! That’s sooo cute! I’ll tease him tomorrow with that for sure!”
“W-What?! No! Please Shinohara-san you’re already on Kacchan’s bad side! Don’t get in more trouble because of me!”
“I’m not afraid of Bakugou, Midoriya. As you said I can rely on my quirk for self-defense, and besides, if that asshole is that dead serious about getting into U.A he’ll try to keep his record as clean as possible. He’s nothing more than a bully who was lucky enough to get a strong quirk.” A serious and confident look was settled on (Y/N)’s eyes, Midoriya, despite being surprised by her courage, remained a bit doubtful. After suffering years and years of mental and physical abuse by Bakugou, he was unsure if it was a good idea for Shinohara to keep on irking the already irritable blond. But at the end, she had something he never will, a power of her own and self-confidence. Maybe he could try to rub on a bit of the last one.
“Oh, damn it! Our shoes still at school! I guess my plan wasn’t bulletproof after all…” Midoriya lowered his view to his shoes finding out that indeed, (Y/N) was right, a pair of white uwabaki* were covering his feet instead of his signature red shoes.
“Oh no! I forgot my bike too! My parents are going to kill me!” (Y/N) said desperately pulling her (Y/N) locks. “Crap I need to go back to school!” (Y/N) tried to put her head together with a plan to sneak into school and avoid bumping into Bakugou to avoid more trouble. ‘He probably left already, but I can’t take the risk anyway.’
“I-I’m sorry that you are having to get in all this trouble because of me, I’m sorry Shinohara-san” (Y/N) saw Midoriya’s sad expression, and a little pang of guilt passed through her. ‘I guess I have to be careful of what I say in front of him, he seems kind of sensitive and self-conscious, I’ll have it on account the next time.’
“Come on Midoriya! You take everything too seriously! And don’t forget that I was the one who decided to step up and give you a helping hand, so don’t overwhelm yourself with the simplest things! It was my mistake so I’ll solve it! As simple as that! (Y/N) said while she padded Midoriya’s back animatedly.
“Well! I guess this is when we part ways Midoriya! See yaaa!~” Just like that the lively (H/C)-ette ran her way to Aldera meanwhile Midoriya contemplated her get lost on the horizon. ‘That was so insane…! I don’t think this day could get more nuts…!’
 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️💨
“Goddamnit! My-my lungs are on fire! If it wasn’t for my regular workout routine, I would have passed out ages ago!” After a couple of minutes, the school came into view again, wheezing and with a tremendous thirst. (Y/N) finally arrived at her destiny. Once she recovered her breath, she started looking for some trace of Gru, Kevin and Bob at the school entrance. Once she verified that the coast was clear, (Y/N) proceeded to jog at the main entrance, where the shoe lockers were located. Thankfully nobody was there at the moment, the only remaining students at the school were the members of the clubs. After finding her locker, she quickly changed her shoes. ‘Perfect! Now to the bike parking we go! If I’m not wrong is at the back of the school’
Stealthy and cautiously, (Y/N) made her way to the bike parking only bumping twice with other students that fortunately weren’t the explosive blonde. Just a few minutes later she could already devise her goal at just a couple of feet away from her, fortunately they weren’t a lot of bikes there like in the morning so find it was easier than expected.
“If I’m not wrong, I put it in the third row to the left, so, in theory it should be right-AHA! There you are!” Right in front of her eyes, was a brand new, vintage style (F/C) bike. It was a gift that (Y/N) received from her parents after they moved to Musutafu, she has been dying to have one of those since the last summer, so it wasn’t an overstatement to say that she almost had a heart attack when she saw it parked with a big (F/C) bow on it at her new house’s driveway after they arrived.
Without wasting more time, she placed her bag on the front basket, unlocked the cable lock and got on the bike. Watching her surroundings one last time to make sure it was safe to go, she pedaled the bike with all her might until she was a fair distance from the school, again.
“That was a close one! I’m glad I didn’t bump into that stupid dandelion!” ‘Although I was honest when I said to Midoriya I wasn’t afraid of him, it doesn’t mean I want to start another argument with him, it would be the third of the day, been his classmate is exhausting enough.’ Thanks to the hectic events occurred no even an hour ago (Y/N) could appreciate better the beautiful view surrounding her, the soft spring breeze swayed the cherry blossoms making them rain over the sidewalk and the heads of the distracted passerby that walked under them. This was a really crazy day full of surprises, some more pleasant than others but having such a calming landscape was really comforting. ‘Maybe this city is not so bad after all’
(Y/N) train of though was abruptly disturbed by a strong explosion that resonated in the distance. “A villain attack? It looks like it is happening in the center-” “Indeed-nya, young lady, in the Commercial District to be more specific-nya” (Y/N) turned her head to find the origin of the voice that answered her inquiry to be found with an elderly woman with cat ears and tail accompanied by who seem to be her daughter. “How do you know it?” (Y/N) asked intrigued. “We just were evacuated from there by the heroes-nya” the younger woman said. “We happened to be shopping there when a villain took a middle schooler hostage-nya and stared to cause havoc in the place, explosions, stores on fire, people running everywhere, it was crazy-nya! We were fortunate enough to escape as soon as it started-nya!”
“Oh God!  A middle schooler?! That sounds awful! I hope the heroes can stop it soon, you really were lucky.” After share a couple more words they went on their separate ways. “Oh man! I was supposed to pass there to buy some stuff for dinner, I guess I’ll have to go to a konbini, I know mom will understand. Now the actual question is how I’m supposed to go home without going through the city centre that must be closed right now?” (Y/N) sighed resigned now that she had no choice. “The long way it is then I guess.”
 🚲🚲🚲
One hour. That was what took (Y/N) to reach her neighborhood, and she still need to go to the konbini before going home. “Thanks God I have the bike, otherwise I don’t want to imagine how long it would have taken to get here with the train station closed right now. I really need a bath~ I want to get into the ofuro* and never get out…” ‘Now that I think about it the konbini should be on this street- Oh! There it is!’ Just In cue with her thoughts the lights of the store made their appearance on the way, lighting the sidewalk in front of it. Quickly, (Y/N) rode her bike to the main entrance and locked it on the little bike parking close to the automated door. After entering, (Y/N) took a shopping basket and was welcomed by the attendant at the cash register. ‘This place is quite large, maybe I can find all I need, ok, so the list say I need carrots, chicken breast, milk, pork cutlet and eggs, it’s not too much’ “Alright let’s get over with this so I can go home!” (Y/N) nimbly navigated through the store to get everything she needed to, along with some snacks and a bottle of Ramune soda to drink during the way home. After she got everything she needed (Y/N) made a beeline to the cash register to pay and leave. She gave her basket to the cashier who proceeded to scan the products, meanwhile (Y/N) busied herself looking other costumers entering and leaving on the convex mirror close to the door; an elderly man, two girls around the same age as her, a kid, Bakugou, another kid…wait-
‘Bakugou?!’
“Danm old hag running out of soy sauce at this fucking hour…” (Y/N) could hear him grumbling as he entered the store, sweating bullets at this point she mentally implore the cashier to hurry the hell up so she could leave before he noticed her presence. ‘Why did I have to grab so many snacks?!’
Unfortunately, the luck that seemed to stick to her the whole day decided to run away before she could do it first, because just in that moment Bakugou decided to take a detour to the manga display section that happened to be right at the side of the cash register. To put the cherry on the top, the Ramune bottle decided to rebel at that moment and refused to be scanned after the third failed try. “Oh, the code seems to be a bit blurred, let me bring another one to scan it” said the cashier. Before (Y/N) could oppose and just leave without the drink, the cashier girl disappeared at the back of the store where the cold drinks were.
‘Please, don’t notice me don’t notice me don’t notice me don’t notice me don’t notice me don’t-’
“The fuck are you doing here thief bitch?” Bakugou sneered
‘Goddamnit!’
“Oh, I don’t know, if we look at the evidence presented here, I’m standing at a convenience store’s cash register with a basket full of products that I’m about to pay for, so what do you think I’m doing here genius?”
“Don’t you smart mouth me idiot” Bakugou sneered.
“Don’t ask stupid questions then”
“You! -”
“I’m back! Sorry for the delay. So, your total would be ¥2738” (Y/N) slammed 3 bills of ¥1000 over the counter, took her bags and told the girl to keep the change before exiting the store.
“Oi thief bitch! Come back here! I’m not done with you!” Bakugou left the Shonen Jump magazine he was holding and went behind (Y/N).
“Oi! I’m talking to you bitc!-”
“Can you just shut up?! I have nothing to talk with you! And stop calling me ‘thief bitch’! I have a name you tared!” Bakugou stopped on his tracks a bit shocked by her reaction, and looked at her load the bike basket with her shopping bags and angrily unlocking the cable to hop on it.  Hunching his posture and shoving his hands in his pockets he addressed her once more, this time more calmly.
 “What’s your problem with me?”
(Y/N) stopped the bike making the rubbers screech against the ground before turning around to see Bakugou glaring at her. “I beg your pardon?”
“You heard me”
“If you mean that I completely dislike you and find you absolutely intolerable then yes, that’s my problem, well done Sherlock, can I go now?” (Y/N) turned her back to him with the intention of leave once and for all, but Bakugou had other plans. “What I said on class, what I said to Deku today, I mean it, Every. Single. Word. I’ll surpass All Might and become the strongest, richest and most powerful hero of all time, I don’t care what Deku or you do or think, I’ll crush you both.”
‘The nerve of this guy!’
A long pause took place after Bakugou’s statement, pleased with her silence the young male turned back to the konbini to buy the damn soy sauce his mother was nagging for and go home as well.
“You really are blind, aren’t you?”
“Hah?”
“You, like everybody else thinks that being a hero is all about recognition, fame, money, influence, power, right? Just because you have a powerful quirk you think you have what it takes to be a hero? You talk about surpass All Might yada yada all that crap. How are you supposed to be a hero and even more, exceed The Symbol of Peace himself when all you are is a bully? When you do nothing more than hurt and discourage, treating everybody like trash because you think you must be worshiped like a God who the Universe itself owns its very existence? Tell me Bakugou, you think that with how you are right now, one day when you try to rescue someone, can you guarantee that someone would take your hand? Trust in you blindly? Become a Symbol? You haven’t understood why All Might is the Number One Hero in the first place, it’s not all about fighting and kick everybody’s ass to oblivion. You may have been looking up to him all your life, and you still don’t understand.”
Bakugou looked at her astonished, how dare she to look down on him?!  Of course he had all that it takes to be a hero and more! He is the Bakugou Katsuki! The next Number One Hero! Who wouldn’t want to be saved by him?! He is the best! He is a winn-
“If all you ever do is look down on people, you won’t be able to recognize your own weaknesses.”
“Weaknesses?! What fucking weakne?!-”
“Didn’t you mommy sent you to buy soy sauce? I bet she must be waiting.”
“Don’t change the damn subject!- Oi! get your ass back here!”
“You already made me waste a lifetime, and like I said, I have nothing to talk with you”
As (Y/N) got farther and farther she could hear Bakugou’s shouting being muffled by the distance.
  “Ha, serves you right, asshole.”

  ✒A/N:
Did I invested 45 minutes of my life investigating the real prices in Japan of all the products in (Y/N)’s list to make the total amount as accurate as possible? Yes, yes I did. *cough*OCD*cough*  ¥2738 are approximately $25.61.
*Uwabaki: They are a type of Japanese shoes worn indoors, at home, school or certain companies and public buildings where street shoes are prohibited.
*Ramune: Is a type of carbonated soft drink originally created and sold in Japan. It’s original taste is lime-lemon, very similar to a Sprite but sweeter and softer, it comes in a wide variety of yummy and weird flavors like bubble gum, melon, cola, curry or teriyaki. If you have the chance to find it give it a try, the original flavor is really good and open the bottle is really fun!

More love for Semi please? Anything will do, your writing is exquisite in any form anyway :D
» Word Count: 1,857 wordsCross-posted on AO3
SORRY THIS IS SO LATE :(( I actually wrote three chapters’ worth of content for him already and you can read the whole thing on the ao3 link.(NOTE: This is based on the current events of the final arc of the Haikyuu manga. I tagged it as a spoiler but I won’t really go into the specifics of what’s going on. Semi is our main focus here ^__^)
“Please?”
“No,” was your flat reply.
Semi heaved a long sigh, mouth twitching into an irritated grimace. You returned his reaction with a sassy look of your own—one, finely penciled brow quirked as bright, red lips rivalled the adamance that Semi brought about. While you were in no position to tell him to just go back to his cubicle and get today’s work done (you, sadly, held the same position in office), you at least had the right to turn him down. Your department had a monthly financial report coming up. Why on Earth did he want your help writing a song?
“Come on,” he groaned. “You know I’d eat my fist first before asking for your help, but our manager really digs your old pieces from college.”
Your eye twitched.
“Way to beg for someone’s aid in a time of dire need,” you bit back sarcastically. “Go do it then.”
“What?”
“Eat your whole fist.” You gave him a pointed look, even making a show of paying attention by putting your pen down.
Your co-worker let out a frustrated groan, fingers carding through his messy, ashen hair. The gesture made the tattoos on his chest visible for a second, before disappearing again behind his barely done button-up. It was a mystery, how a man like him made it as a public servant—with his flamboyant piercings and tip-dyed hair—but you supposed you should learn to look past physical appearances. The agency allowed it, so why should you make a fuss?
Ah, right. Semi Eita was the most hot-headed man in your department, and he had a knack for picking fights with you.
“If you get the balance sheet done by five o'clock, I might reconsider,” you told him, not really meaning the words, as you directed your attention back at the paperwork on your desk. Balance sheets are the toughest to fill out, since the data needed had to be collated from different sectors of the city. You highly doubted that Semi, with his thinner-than-a-strand-of-hair patience, could finish it in one sitting.
“Deal.”
Your gaze hardened as you looked back up at him. “Come again?”
“Are you deaf?” he asked, folding lean arms across his chest. “I said it’s a deal.”
You couldn’t help the snort that made its way past your lips. Whatever his reasons may be, it was painfully obvious that he was desperate. But still. You knew that he wouldn’t be able to carry out the deed in your given deadline, but instead of talking him out of his own agreement, you merely shook your head in acceptance.
Semi eventually stalked off to his cubicle; the one just in front of yours. There was a divider that separated each employee’s workspace from the others, and it at least granted some semblance of privacy from outside gazes. You’ve been to Semi’s cubicle a couple of times—more to coordinate paperwork than engage in conversation, really—and he decorated his personal space exactly how a part-time rock band vocalist would. Though he didn’t exactly put up posters and painted the walls black, he added his own flair to his desk with guitar figurines, neon stickers on his desktop, and a photo of his bandmates enclosed in a sparkly picture frame.
The only reason you bothered looking so closely was the fact that you also went to the same university together (under the same degree, too!) You’ve always been keen around him, with his loud way of living, as opposed to you, who’s always chosen to live simply and without pretentiousness. Sure, the disparity between your lifestyles had caused you to be at each other’s throats since freshman year, but it was still a surprise that your synergy was top notch. You would, as Semi put it so delicately, eat your fist first before admitting to the fact, but it’s a given that you preferred to work with him instead of other, unfamiliar people.
You sighed, brandishing a bored look at the bleak document in front of you. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to help him out…
But when you recalled every time he’s talked over you during board meetings, sneered at you when he got a higher score during exams, and his distateful behavior in general, you steeled your resolve.
Either he’s going to get that balance sheet over with or he’ll keel over. If he wanted your help, he’s going to have to work for it.
You were in the middle of fixing your belongings when the sound of a stack of papers hitting your desk rang in your ears.
“There,” Semi said breathlessly, making you look up at him in surprise. He even tossed a flash drive on top of the papers he deposited, where you saw the city hall’s heading printed in full color. You reluctantly checked your phone for the time. 16:57, it said, in a mockingly bold typeface before shoving it in your pocket.
The damn guy really did get it done before five.
“The electronic document is saved in there, in case you lose the print.” He was panting at this point, and you had a vague idea as to why he looked like he just ran a marathon. The one printer in your department (this year’s budget was cut) broke down a few days ago, and the nearest functional one was at the Logistics office three floors down.
Still refusing to believe it, you peered at the documents he just brought in. You scanned each of the entries printed on each page. That’s when you realized that Sendai City’s expenses have skyrocketed since the new year because the list of expenses occupied a whole page alone. A worried sigh made its way past your lips, but at least the liabilities were cut down to a minimum. You heard that the governor of Miyagi was going to pledge a few hundred thousand yen for the city’s founding anniversary, too.
You paused. Blinking, you rearranged the papers neatly back into its pile—biting back the urge to clutch your wounded pride. Semi was looking at you expectantly, like he wanted you to praise his flawless bookkeeping.
In actuality, his determination was beginning to freak you out.
“Why do you want me to help you so badly?” you asked, voice almost trembling. “Seriously, dude. I thought we hated each other. Quit acting out of character.”
“I told you, our manager really liked the songs you composed back in senior year,” he drawled, tired of having to repeat himself.
Your face twisted in confusion. “Who even is this manager of yours?”
There was a half-second delay in his response, but before you could paint a reason for his hesitation, he immediately replied with, “Saito. Saito Makoto.”
You stiffened, gaze going rigid at the mention of that name. “Oh.”
“Yeah. If I manage to give him a piece by the end of the month, he’ll help us sign a contract with a big-shot record label,” Semi explained, oblivious to your discomfort.
“But haven’t you been writing songs since high school?” you wondered aloud. “That’s what you said during our Pol-Gov class ice breaker.”
He frowned. “You still remember that?”
Okay. You kept forgetting that your sharp memory wasn’t always a praiseworthy thing. You gulped, feeling the heat creep up your face. “Um, anyway, the point still stands. You’ve been writing songs for God-knows-how-long, and while I’m not one to dish out compliments especially to you, I’m pretty sure they’re okay if you managed to gather a decent fanbase.”
He rolled his eyes, leaning against the divider of your cubicle. “We’re a rock band. I write rock songs, but Saito wants me to write a goddamn love song.”
Typical Saito. Though he looked like a rugged high school delinquent, he was awfully sentimental when it came to music. He was the one who inspired you to write the songs Semi was pestering you about all day after all…
“Fine,” you relented. “I never go back on my word and since you did a…good job with this, I’ll help you out.”
His light brown eyes lit up for a moment, but Semi managed to mask his relief in a split second—containing his excitement in a single nod. “Are you free this Saturday? You can come by my place and we could start getting to work.”
Well, that was forward of him. You expected to work on the song in a coffee shop or something, but he went on ahead and invited you to his own humble abode anyway. You parsed through your weekend plans in your mind, and once you confirmed that you were free, you scribbled down your phone number on a sticky note. Almost five years of acquaintance and you’d never bothered giving it to him. Huh.
“Just text me the time and place,” you told him, pocketing the flash drive as you slipped the balance sheet in one of the empty folders in your organizer. “You better not pull anything funny and lead me to a secluded alley or something.”
Semi scoffed, folding the piece of paper and sticking it inside his trousers. “As if.”
You then slung your bag across your shoulders, grinning insincerely. “Glad we’re on the same page, then.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
With that, Semi exited your cubicle, leaving you no room to wonder why he didn’t even spare a quick ‘thank you’.
Just as you were smoothing out the creases on your pencil skirt, your phone began buzzing in the pocket of your blazer. Brows raised, you fished it out and unlocked it.
From: Makohey, wanna grab some dinner? its on me :3
Speak of the devil. You swallowed the lump in your throat, fingers shakily managing to type a coherent reply.
To: MakoYeah sure. Where to tho
From: Makocan we get some italian? ik u love the udon place across the street but akane’s having dinner w her friends there
From: Makocant have her seeing us together now do we
The way he put that so casually made your chest constrict with a too-familiar sensation. You heaved a deep breath, pursing your lips into a thin line as you sent a quick “Ok” text to end your conversation. Saito replied with those iffy heart-eyed emojis that he only ever used when he wanted something from you, and you had to compose yourself so you wouldn’t burst into tears right there.
“Oi.”
You almost jumped at the sound of Semi’s voice as he peered inside your cubicle once more. He clutched his suitcase in one hand, eyeing you curiously.
“What do you want?”
“You’re headed uptown, too, right?” he asked, and you nodded reluctantly. “Thought you’d want a lift.”
“Semi, just because I’m helping you achieve your dreams, doesn’t mean you have to be nice to me.” You laughed softly, tension easing from his uncalled for kindness.
He, however, looked unconvinced. “Do you want a ride or not?”
You raised your hands in defeat, managing a genuine smile. “Alright, fine. It’ll be a hellish commute anyway.”
You liked to think that that’s how you started becoming friends with your odd, hot-headed co-worker.

An Unexpected Alteration to the Operation (Hak x Stubborn!Reader x Jae-ha)
Tumblr media
Prompt: An undercover operation gone wrong, Jae-ha and Hak sweep in to show them not to mess with their girl. (Spoilers for the manga [Chp 81] and implied smut)
Protective! Hak x Stubborn! reader x Protective! Jae-ha
Words: 3.4k
Night was creeping up slowly, but the atmosphere was frigid inside the quaint hotel you and the dragons were all staying at. Not because of the temperature, but because two men were looking at you as if you had grown another head. Yoon and Yona had long since been asleep, exhausted by the day's events, and Shin-ah and Kija were keeping watch over them.
Violet and cerulean eyes narrowed at your innocent expression.
"I'll be fine." You insisted, almost rolling your eyes. You had been trying to convince them that your undercover plan was a good idea, and they weren't having it.
"You're not going." Hak stated flatly and Jae-ha nodded in agreement, causing you to raise an eyebrow. Those two never seemed to agree on anything except when it came down to keeping you safe.
"Hak, Kija and I are more than enough." Jae-ha reiterated what he had been saying for the past hour as they were preparing for the operation. This time, you did roll your eyes.
They were going to infiltrate the red-light district to find out who was smuggling nadai into the Water Tribe. The only issue was they had to be convincing as customers while not breathing in the toxic air or drinking the nadai-laced alcohol there.
Alright, you didn't want them to go for a number of reasons, even though you knew they could handle themselves in a fight. But you didn't like them fighting in a battle that you weren't going to be a part of, and you had every reason to be on the front lines this time around.
"And I'm supposed to ignore that you willingly took the nadai, right? That you were fully aware of what it was, and yet you still took it." You jabbed a finger at his chest. "I had to watch you writhe in agony for hours on that bed and there was nothing that I could do about it."
The green dragon winced at your harsh tone, but knew that you were upset at him for putting you through that. To be fair, he didn't expect it to have that kind of effect, but the look of pain on your face when he woke up wasn't worth it.
Neither was Hak's punch to his face, but somehow that was more bearable than seeing you hurting.
"I'm going." You said with finality. Hak and Jae-ha shared a look.
Then, you were staring at the ground.
You thumped on Hak's back. "Hak!! Put me down!!" He had slung you over his shoulder and Jae-ha just lifted his hands up in mock innocence.
You puffed out your cheeks. The traitor.
"Sure, sure," He said dryly. "In a second."
You struggled in his hold the entire way to your room. He practically flung you down on the bed with such force, causing you to bounce several times upon impact. You glared at him, but Hak brushed it off. You glanced over to Jae-ha for help, but in a fraction of a second, he was on top of you.
"Jae-ha!" You yelled out in surprise and then shock as you tried to move your arms. He had tied your wrists to the headboard! You growled, eyes flashing in anger, but stopped struggling when you saw the hidden fear lingering in the depths of their eyes.
They really were scared for you, of what would happen if you went there and things went wrong. They were worried they couldn't protect you. Hak and Jae-ha both agreed that they would live and die for you and Yona. The red-haired princess was the heart and soul of their entire group. She bound them all together, connecting each of them to the others in the process.
But you, you were their lover. You were their entire world.
If anything happened to you, they would never forgive themselves. You went lax in the bed as realization dawned on you. They were already so critical of themselves. Jae-ha for being the oldest in the group, excluding Zeno's immortality, felt responsible for everyone. And you knew Hak still felt guilt and resentment towards himself for not being able to protect the king the night of his murder.
"If you behave, we'll reward you later." Hak promised, leaning over to press a chaste kiss to your forehead.
"Ah, Y/N," Jae-ha's eyes sparkled with playfulness. "You get to have fun when we get back." He winked and you blushed under the circumstances.
They departed with a wave of farewell, and you let out a heavy sigh.
Sorry, Jae-ha, Hak... There's no way I'm not going to be by your side.
You wiggled your hands, grinning when you felt them loosen. Jae-ha always tied them so you had the option to slip out of them, when the three of you did, other things.
It seemed it was Jae-ha's second nature by now, and you were lucky that it was. You leaped up out of the bed, snatching the dress you picked up earlier and got ready quickly.
You had to hurry if you were going to slip in with the other girls.
As soon as you were satisfied with your appearance, you ran off into the night. You found the red-light district easily, and as soon as you stepped inside, you ran into the girl from earlier, A-Rin.
You held up your finger to your lips as you saw her eyes flash in recognition. The men were still lurking around, which meant that Hak, Jae-ha and Kija hadn't carried out their plan yet. But they were nowhere to be found, which meant that it was already underway.
You subtly gathered the girls into the back of the store, but you were being too obvious.
"Hey! You!" Your head snapped up at his grating voice. "What do you think you're doing?!"
You covered half of your face behind your hand, smiling brightly, eyes crinkling at the corners giving off faux innocence. "I just thought the customers could use more alcohol, my lord."
He scoffed at you and you resisted the urge to wipe the smirk off of his face. "You can do that yourself."
You bowed your head, submitting to his authority. As soon as he was out of earshot, you turned to the terrified girls beside you. "On my signal, make sure you stay behind me." You whispered.
They nodded, and then they scattered. You picked up a jug of alcohol, most likely laced with nadai, carrying it to one of the rooms. As you slid the door open, your eyes met Kija's shocked ones calmly. There was one other girl in the room, and your eyes landed on her darkened fingernails. It would seem she was an addict too. You gestured for him to stay quiet and he shut his mouth, slipping back into character.
He quickly poured the nadai laced drink down to the floor, ignoring the other girl's protests. But her voice caught the attention of one of the nearby men who was walking by and you gritted your teeth.
"Kija!" You cried out, wrapping your arms around the trembling girl as she screamed. He slashed at the man with his dragon claw, knocking him out cold. "Go! I'll take care of the rest!"
He nodded, then sped off. You gritted your teeth as you assessed the situation. The men started to surround you. It would be at least a few minutes before Jae-ha and Hak made it to this room. You needed to hold them off for as long as possible.
"Stay behind me." You instructed the girl who was shaking in fear behind you, and shielded her from their sight with your body. "I won't let them hurt you."
Your teeth bared in a snarl as the first one launched himself at you, but you caught him in his stomach with a punch. As he flew back, another took his place and you unleashed a series of kicks that Jae-ha had taught you.
He fell but there were too many of them. You dodged their attacks, striking where you could but it wasn't enough. You struggled to maintain your ferocity, adrenaline pumping through your veins but then you saw one of them reach for the girl behind you.
"DON'T TOUCH HER!!!" You screamed, tackling him to the ground, landing a flurry of punches on his face. You were pulled off of him by the others. As you violently struggled in their grasp, your eyes locked on the terrified girl's.
"Run!!!" You managed to yell out before a hand wrapped around your throat, cutting off your air supply. She fled the room, and that brought you a small sense of comfort. They started tearing at your clothes, scratching your skin with their dark fingernails. They didn't have any weapons, but their grips were tight and you could feel the bruises starting to form at your neck and arms.
Hak... Jae-ha....
The door burst open, splintering under the force.
"Unhand her right now." Hak demanded, cobalt eyes black with rage.
Jae-ha's normally calm and pleasant features were contorted murderously, and his violet eyes flashed with fury as they landed on the bruises on your skin.
"You have two seconds to get away from her before I rip your throat out." Jae-ha snarled, baring his teeth venomously.
They rushed at the men. The pace that they cleared them out was alarming. Hak didn't have his spear, but his prowess in battle was never to be underestimated as you watched him deliver lethal blows to their throats and the back of their heads. The addicts crumpled under their attacks, each one faring worse than the last.
Jae-ha spun around in a blur of green, taking out anyone who rose from the ground after Hak was through with them. The nadai addicts were unable to feel pain due to the drug. This time, Jae-ha actually didn't mind it.
They had touched what was his.
He could kick them down as many times as he wanted and they would keep rising. His eyes glinted dangerously in the candlelight. They would never lay a hand on you again.
What you didn't see was the blatant anger behind their calculated strikes. You didn't notice that they injured the men, not immediately killing them, putting them through agony as Hak drove his fists into this flesh. He didn't stop until he saw blood. Jae-ha's mouth curled up in a sadistic smirk as he heard the shattering of bones, bringing down his dragon leg with everything he had.
Hak and Jae-ha were going to make them feel every ounce of pain they dared to put you through, piercing through the nadai haze.
None escaped their wrath.
You wished you had enough energy to watch them. Then, you sunk to the ground, unable to stay upright any longer, completely exhausted.
"Y/N!!" Jae-ha called out, panicked, catching you swiftly as you fell. The men didn't get up anymore. They were either injured beyond repair or dead. "You have to stay awake!"
"Kija?" Hak frantically turned to the white dragon, who urged him on.
"It is finished." Kija responded, turning to the men that were still alive, now tied up. "Leave the rest to me."
The Thunder Beast gave him a nod of thanks, before picking you up in his arms. Jae-ha followed him all the way back to the inn, keeping an eye out for any stragglers. He was wary the entire way back, but Hak's body was tense with anger.
He let out a soft sigh.
Children... So troublesome... He thought tenderly to himself as he watched Hak settle you into bed, taking a seat next to you. Jae-ha followed in shortly after, tucking the blankets under your chin snugly.
"Yoon should look at her." Hak broke the silence and Jae-ha nodded.
"I'll go get him."
As he got to his feet, Hak stopped him. After the events of this night, he wasn't willing to take any chances. "Be careful." His dark blue eyes were serious.
Jae-ha shot him a confident smirk. "When am I not?"
He sped quickly down the hall, entering the room. Shin-ah was asleep not too far away from the princess and their little doctor. Jae-ha immediately shook the youngest awake.
"Yoon." The pretty boy groggily opened his eyes. "Y/N's hurt."
Yoon shot up, nearly knocking Jae-ha over as he tore past him in his haste to get to you. Besides Jae-ha and Hak, you were closest to Yoon. He cared about you so much, even if he had an interesting way of showing it. But you always prioritized his and Yona's safety so much so that you were always getting hurt trying to protect them.
He flung open the door, panting heavily. Hak hadn't moved from your side, but gestured for Yoon to keep quiet.
"She's asleep." Hak informed him as the pretty boy took a place on the opposite side of him. "She passed out on the way back."
The dress you had put on was nearly shredded, angry, red marks darting into view from underneath the fabric as you breathed.
"She wasn't supposed to be there." Yoon snapped. "What happened?"
Jae-ha closed the door softly behind him, alerting Yoon of his presence. "We don't know exactly." He exchanged a worried look with Hak.
Then, guilt flickered over his expression. Hak looked at the older man curiously. Jae-ha's eyes were shadowed. Hak stood up, walking to the green dragon as the kid fussed over you.
"The knot." Jae-ha whispered. "I tied it like I always do. She must have slipped out of it."
Hak stiffened, then punched him in the gut.
Hard.
Yoon nearly leaped to the ceiling, eyes bugging out of his head when he saw the Thunder Beast hit the Ryokuryuu full force.
"Not your fault." Hak stated firmly, flexing his hand open and close as Jae-ha stared at him, dumbfounded, wheezing in staggered breaths. "Wipe that guilt off of your face, you'll make Y/N cry."
Jae-ha chuckled softly as he finally caught his breath, gaze oddly appreciative as Hak went back to your side. He knew it was Hak's way of snapping him out of it. Neither one of them could find it in themselves to be angry with you, they knew what they signed up for when they started this little arrangement. They knew you were headstrong, but even more so when their lives were the ones in danger.
Love certainly made people do crazy things.
And Hak and Jae-ha would give you the world if they could. You stirred, and Jae-ha caught the movement out of the corner of his eye. Pushing himself off the wall, he went to your side, staring at you intently.
Hak looked like the embodiment of tranquility, but his knee was bumping against Jae-ha's nervously and if Jae-ha peered closer, he was sure he would be able to see the terror hidden in the depths of his eyes. The former general did his best to school his expression, but you and Jae-ha had learned to read him like a book over time.
You blinked your eyes open slowly. Your eyelids felt so heavy, and you wondered why it felt as though you fell from a height of five stories. You tried to sit up, but a firm hand pushed you back down by your shoulders.
"You're not going anywhere." Hak ordered, tone leaving no room for argument.
"Lay back down." Jae-ha echoed firmly.
You pouted and the men suppressed a groan. You were too tempting even in this situation. You didn't do as they said, choosing instead to sit against the headboard.
"She's fine." Yoon reassured, mistaking the tense atmosphere for concern. He wasn't wrong, but this time around, the pretty boy genius wasn't completely right either.
"She's got a couple of cuts and some bruises, but nothing major. She'll heal soon, but," You winced as Yoon turned his sharp gaze on you. "No more fighting."
You grinned sheepishly. "Yes, mother."
"I DON'T REMEMBER GIVING BIRTH TO YOU!!" Yoon yelled, throwing up his hands in exasperation before filing out of the room, muttering about how 'it was said once and now it wouldn't go away' for the life of him. He's dealt with you enough for one night. He was sure Hak and Jae-ha could straighten you out.
With the three of you left in the room, you nearly collapsed under the weight in the air as it shifted from concerned to heated. You met Hak's cobalt eyes guiltily, flickering to Jae-ha's burning violet, then back again.
You opened your mouth to speak, but was cut off as Jae-ha's lips smashed onto yours.
You let out a muffled squeak, eyes automatically closing. You almost jumped out of your skin as a pair of hands landed on your hips, urging you to scoot forward. You did so, with a little difficulty, doing your best not to break your kiss with Jae-ha. Hak started to kiss the back of your neck, sucking gently on your sweet spot, causing you to moan into Jae-ha's mouth.
Jae-ha pulled back, panting heavily, violet eyes swirling with desire. Your head fell back onto Hak's shoulder as Jae-ha started to gently kiss over the bruises that had formed on your neck.
Hak's breath was hot on your ear as he breathed, "Do you have any idea how badly you scared us today? Huh, Y/N? Do you like watching us lose control of ourselves around the people who hurt you?"
You whimpered pathetically at his words, wanton hunger shooting through your body at his words instead of humiliation. Jae-ha traveled lower, marking up your collarbones.
"Y/N..." He whispered, an unspoken question hanging in the air.
Your fist had since made its way up to your mouth in an attempt to stifle the embarrassing sounds that were spilling from your mouth. You almost didn't hear Jae-ha's question. Hak hadn't stopped murmuring in your ear, and his words were making you flush all over.
"You liked watching us like that? Knowing that the only people who will ever be able to touch you like this is us. You're ours." He nearly growled, fingers tightening into the flesh of your hips.
You mewled wantonly at his words, closing your eyes.
"Y/N." Jae-ha's velvety voice cut through your desire-induced haze. "Let us hear you."
You didn't bring down your hand, so Hak did it for you, weaving his fingers with yours, dropping it back down to the sheets. You squeaked as Hak pulled you against his chest, blushing as you felt his hard muscle against your back through the clothes.
Jae-ha pulled off your tattered dress, leaving you only in a cloth covering your chest and your underclothes. He leaned up to kiss you again, capturing your lips in a heated kiss.
"Do you want this?" He asked heatedly, breath fanning against your exposed skin, sending a shiver down your spine. "Tell us what you want, Y/N..."
You bit your lip and Jae-ha let out a low groan.
"I want you." You paused, tilting your head up to meet Hak's lidded gaze. "Both of you."
The growls they let out made your core heat up, and you pressed your thighs together. The movement didn't go unnoticed by your attentive lovers and Jae-ha settled between your thighs after coaxing them open. With him directly in front of you and Hak pressed behind you, the fire radiating off of them was making your head spin.
"C'mon," You breathed, tired of their teasing. "Please."
Hak shot a smirk to Jae-ha. He loved it when you got like this. When he reduced you to a babbling, incoherent mess beneath him and all you could do was moan and chant his name over and over again as he drove into you at a maddening pace.
"Hak," You swiveled your head to meet their eyes, both blown wide with lust. "Jae-ha."
Jae-ha's breath hitched in his throat and Hak almost passed out from the next words that left your lips in a whisper.
"Take me."

Kyoru Week: Day 6 - Birthday Wishes
Man, I could NOT think of what to do with this prompt today. Not sure why. Maybe burn-out? If so, then I'm sorry for the quality of this story. At the very least, I'm happy enough with it to publish. I just wish I had figured it out sooner so I wasn't posting around 1am. @_@ Lord, I'm tired. And to think, I get to do this sort of thing for a WHOLE MONTH for NaNo in 29 days!
OTL  TT3TT Also, I'd like to note that life would be so much easier if all three kids were canonically named... just sayin'....
Full story is below, but you can also read it over on AO3, on FFN, or on DA.

The Greatest Gift
Spoilers: Post-manga story; minor Fruits Basket Another reference Romance Level: Contented Lovers/Established Spouses/Parents Word Count: 1150 Summary: Kyo reflects on his favorite birthday gift, and all that entails.
A gentle snore pulled Kyo's attention from the TV. Tohru was curled up beside him, her shoulder tucked in his armpit, and her head against his chest. He wasn't sure when she had passed out, but he coiled his arm tighter around her to make sure she didn't flop off his side. He rested his cheek against the crown of her head and glanced around the living room.
Tohru wasn't the only one to have conked off. All three kids were in a little pile sprawled across the floor, with Hajime practically a futon for his brother and sister. Their shared bowl of popcorn was mostly empty, and tipped over; a few kernels spilled onto the area rug.
Kyo wasn't sure what was going on in the movie anymore, but he didn't mind. He enjoyed listening to his family's collective heavy breathing and soft snores. That is, except for their youngest. For such a tiny little thing of only three, her snoring gave Kyo terrible flashbacks to Kagura's boar form snorting with rage.
Overcome with love, he kissed Tohru on the top of her head, and played with the ends of her long hair.
"Hmm?" Tohru moaned. "Kyo-kun? Did I fall asleep?"
"Yeah. It's okay." He absentmindedly ran his fingers through her silky locks and continued scanning the room.
"Oh! We all fell asleep?" Tohru bolted upright as she caught sight of their kids.
"It's fine."
"But it's your birthday! We were supposed to be celebrating."
"I was still enjoying the movie, and it's actually really sweet to watch you all passed out like this."
"You watch us sleep? Kyo-kun, that's a bit creepy," Tohru teased. She had gotten more comfortable with doing so with him over the years.
"Maybe, but I enjoy it regardless." He smiled and playfully tugged her into a hug.
"Still, I'm sorry we all drifted off when we should have been spending time with you."
"You are. You're still in the same room. Besides, you guys kind of went all out." The living room had streamers draping down the windows and doorways, balloon bunches marking the corners, a wall-length banner made by the kids wishing him a happy 36th, and wrapping paper still confettied around him. Most of a birthday cake was on the dining table, and half-finished glasses of milk remained at each child's seat. A stack of gifts towered to Kyo's right, and a sash reading 'Birthday Boy' still draped across his chest. He sort of feared what they would all think of for his fortieth birthday, especially since his kids would certainly be old enough to pitch in their ideas by then.
"We wanted you to have a great celebration." Tohru squeezed his chest tight. "You need to know how much we love and appreciate you."
"Well, mission accomplished." He gave her a chaste kiss before pulling away and standing up. "Shall we get these corpses to their rooms to sleep off the excitement of the day?" As if responding to Kyo's suggestion, his daughter loudly snored. He wasn't sure if it was a snort of acceptance or protest of being moved off of her brother's chest.
Tohru nodded and walked over with her arms waiting for her daughter to be passed over. Then Kyo scooped up his middle child before rustling his eldest's hair.
"Huh? Dad?" Hajime sleepily mumbled. "Did I pass out?"
"Yeah. Go on up to bed."
Hajime held his arms out for his brother, but Kyo patted him on the shoulders instead.
"I got him. I want to tuck you guys in anyway. Head on up. I need to turn of the DVD."
"Okay. Happy birthday, Dad." Hajime lazily waddled to his father to give him a quick hug goodnight. He then shuffled to his mother, and the two quickly exchanged goodnight kisses on their cheeks.
Tohru escorted him to his room, their youngest still in her arms. Kyo lingered to turn off the movie and TV, then brought his son to the room he shared with Hajime. A few minutes later – after the younger two were stripped and dressed in their pajamas – all three kids were tucked into their beds, and kissed goodnight.
"Your turn." Kyo opened the master bedroom door, and motioned for Tohru to enter.
"Oh! I was going to clean up, but if you'd like-"
Kyo blushed. "No. You're tired. You've done so much already today. I'll go clean up, you go ahead to bed. I- I mean, unless you're now awake, and you want to-"
Tohru had on her dazed smile. She was clearly still groggy from her impromptu nap. Kyo shook his head and kissed his wife on her forehead.
"Tohru, go to bed. I've got this."
"But it's your birthday. You shouldn't be doing any work."
"Eh, I've got energy to spare. You need to rest up too, ya know." He gently rapped his knuckles against her forehead to accentuate his point. "Go on."
She nodded and gave him a sweet peck on his cheek. "Happy birthday, Kyo-kun. I hope we got you everything you wanted."
He hugged her tightly around her waist, and nuzzled his jaw between her shoulder and neck; breathing her in.
"I have you. I have the kids. I'm out in the world. I'm actually friends with my family. I couldn't imagine anything else I could possibly wish for."
"What about those leg weights for when you jog?"
"Yeah, okay, there's one thing you guys missed for my birthday."
Tohru giggled, and Kyo kissed her jaw line. One more squeeze, and he sent her into their bedroom. He then worked his way back downstairs so he could clean up the lovely party he had. After putting everything away, throwing the wrapping paper, streamers, and balloons into trash bags, and lining up the homemade birthday cards, Kyo walked over to the memorial shrine Tohru kept in their living room.
Kneeling before it, he ran his fingers over the Zodiac-painted stones, and pet the cat one between the ears. He then picked up one of his old prayer beads and rolled it between the pads of his fingers for a couple of seconds before putting it back into the little bowl. Finally, he turned to the picture of Tohru when she was a toddler, being held by both of her parents.
"Thank you, both, for creating Tohru. And, Kyoko-san, thank you for sending her to me; or me to her. Either way, she is the birthday gift I have wished for since I first saw her picture, and the one I continue to treasure each year. Thank you, so much."
With a bow, Kyo turned off the lights and headed up to his bedroom; to the greatest gift he ever received: Tohru's waiting embrace.

post graduation roommates/getting together Todobaku tho
this is what happens when I’m too lazy to write but also have an idea
- they’re not even sure how it happens, this whole living together thing, but after graduation Todoroki wants to move out permanently because as much as Enji’s trying, they still see each other all day at work and Todoroki just needs his peace and Bakugou doesn’t wanna commute ‘cause it’s a hassle and it’s better to live closer to where most villains operate, right? right
- they get a small, cramped top floor apartment with a tiny balcony, joint kitchen and living room, an old fashioned bathroom and two tiny bedrooms
- they spend a better part of a week cleaning and fixing it up and Todoroki is infuriatingly good with setting up Ikea level furniture and decoding the manuals to Bakugou’s eternal irritation because this is the guy that doesn’t even know how to cook a medium rare steak?? but somehow cryptic fucking language makes sense to him?? how??
- and where did he even get the tatami mats from stop pulling all-nighters just so you can set up your dumb manga shelf, you goddamn nerd!!  (Kirishima gets a lot of annoyed texts like that that week. Todoroki will be good for Bakugou, he thinks.)
- Bakugou’s pretty much in charge of the kitchen and all hell breaks loose if Todoroki does the thing where he just puts stuff away randomly (as he tends to do) because why would you put rice to your tea ?? do you even have a brain up there?? Todoroki: it’s breakfast food Bakugou: that’s not how you fucking sort -- just get out, oh my god
- but he still makes enough for two bentos even if he just leaves the food on a plate or in the fridge for Todoroki to put into his bento box, which Bakugou also got him because he’d found out that Todoroki didn’t have one and just bought lunch at random places and geez first of all: do you even know what a budget is and second of all: it’s not healthy so shut up and eat your damn fried shrimp rice
- Todoroki has incredibly steady hands. Bakugou learns this when he gets his first bad face injury; it creeps up from his cheek across his eyelid to the edge of his brow and there’s necessary aftercare and a few days off work which leave him frustrated and irritated as hell. His face itches and he can’t really touch it too much besides redressing it and he keeps want to rub his cheek aggressively and his hands keep getting sweaty when he tries to fix the bandages so he almost bites Todoroki’s head off, snaping at him when he grabs the salve and wound dressings  out of his sweaty explosive hands but Todoroki just offers “Eye injuries is something I’m familiar with,” as explanation and he treats Bakugou so so tenderly it almost feels like a punch and grudgingly, Bakugou lets him.
- They help each other out after that, regularly, with small scrapes and scratches or hard to reach lingering hurts and not once, not even after gruelling days of work and nearly sleepless nights and bad endings and the feeling of not having done enough, not once do Todoroki’s hands tremble.
- Bakugou cuts the back of Todoroki’s hair after he finally stops laughing because that’s the most impressive fucking sinusoid he’s ever seen in hair form and maybe. just maybe Todoroki looks a little embarrassed when he hands the scissors over which counts as a win in Bakugou’s book
- two am is their talk hour, in the liminal space of Torodoki’s gentle treating hands and sometimes in the crook of Bakugou’s mouth when they sip on Bakugou’s Dad’s special ‘bad day’ tea and the cups somehow feel more and more full the more they drink, emotion and exhaustion and doubt soaking the ceramic and Bakugou’s voice goes soft and quiet and in exchange, Todoroki bumps or simply touches his shoulder, as if he’s trying to amplify his voice again and sometimes, Bakugou will grudgingly admit, it even works. (Todoroki’s hands don’t tremble, but sometimes, his voice does.)
- they get a little ( a little) drunk on Midoriya’s birthday and pass out on top of each other in Bakugou’s bed and one of them might have held onto the other’s fingers and pressed their whole body against the other, flush and warm and there’s a lot of non-utilized bed space left but they’re stubbornly ignoring any opportunity of using it and just pretend there’s nothing beyond the border of their own bodies
- it’s a close call on both ends about a year and a half into being roommates, when a good chunk of the bay tears itself apart under the hands of a villain group and there’s a surgery, a couple of broken bones and ironically, they share a room at the hospital as well. “Maybe it really is a curse, me messing up people’s hands,’’ Todoroki says and there’s a wry, hurt smile and somehow it hurts even more to look at, so Bakugou knocks his cast against Todoroki’s bruised ribs ‘cause it serves him right. As if he’s the only one worried here.
- Bakugou stays in the hospital a day longer than Todoroki and when he comes back Todoroki has managed to nearly destroy their second best pot but the curry’s not as burned as the pot made it look out to be and it’s hot, burning in the way Bakugou likes his food to burn and if he tears up it’s the big chunks of chilli peppers Todoroki put in there that’s not how you do this, candy cane face,  haven’t I taught you better?? (and then Todoroki reveals that he has also bought Bakugou’s guilty pleasure take out as a fail-safe because he’d thought he might actually set the kitchen on fire despite Bakugou tutoring him on cooking and that tight press of anxiety snaps and falls off from around Bakugou’s chest as he scrubs the burned bottom of the pot, thinking of Todoroki, and why does this put him at ease, out of all things?)
- and yes, Todoroki has definitely set fire to several things in their kitchen in the name of reheating something or just probably wanting to piss Bakugou off because he told him he hates that and don’t you dare stick your grubby fingers into or anywhere near my drink, I’m getting my ice from the fridge, you freak
- Bakugou’s lip gets split the next time he’s back on duty and Todoroki keeps looking at it, his eyes drawn to the cut relentlessly and his looks are like an itch; Bakugou corners him in the middle of sorting out their fresh laundry, presses him against the washing machine and asks him what the fuck are you doing? and Todoroki just clenches his jaw and his eyes drop to Bakugou’s mouth again and heat rises inside of Bakugou like a shock wave and then Todoroki licks his own lips and Bakugou shoves him, just a little, what the hell are you thinking, giving a guy a look like that? he asks, voice rough but he feels a flush on his face and with slow, deliberate hesitation Todoroki’s fingers cup his face, and he leans in, kisses Bakugou softly and barely there and like a tease but Bakugou knows Todoroki’s dating expertise is zero and it’s not like either of them have time to date anyway -- yet, he kisses Todoroki back, presses him some more into the uncomfortable plastic of the washing machine and when the beat of his heart stops engulfing the whole of his heart, his being, he notices something else: Todoroki’s hands are trembling against his face, imperceptibly.
- and because they are a couple of dumbasses they don’t really talk, just make out, occasionally, on slow afternoons and after long long painful days, and sometimes, sometimes Bakugou kisses Todoroki after breakfast and before bed, but never on the same day.
- one night, Todoroki stands in Bakugou’s bedroom’s doorway, shoulders so tense he’s probably pulling a muscle and they stare at each other for a long moment, before -- can I sleep here with you, tonight? Todoroki asks and he seems to be so vulnerable in the faded light and with his sleep clothes on and his bare feet; and Bakugou nods and scoots, but I’m keeping the right side of the bed, he growls as a warning but it’s half hearted at best and they both know they’re gonna end up pressed against each other in the middle of the bed anyway, arms and legs tangled, and the moment Todoroki’s under the covers Bakugou pulls him in, doesn’t ask and closes his eyes; he won’t ask. But Todoroki offers it anyway, sinks into Bakugou’s bed and Bakugou’s arms, fingers curling against Bakugou’s own; “My father is an asshole,” he says angry and bitter and sad and Bakugou knows enough to not pry and just kisses the back of Todoroki’s neck, once, asks: “Wanna forget about him?“ and Todoroki’s breath hitches but he nods and when they’re done, hours later, Todoroki’s silhouette stays relaxed, pliant under Bakugou’s palms.
- it becomes a thing, and it grows underneath and between them and sometimes they’re hungry, sometimes they’re hurt and angry, sometimes they’re tender and scared and because Bakugou thinks it’s pathetic that Todoroki made all the first moves before, and because he thinks Todoroki needs to hear it, more than Bakugou, more than most of them, probably, he tells him; says, “Shouto, I love you, but that shirt is fucking hideous.” and Todoroki looks up, startled, and so what if Bakugou said it in the middle of an Abercrombie and Fitch store, both are true and both needed to be said and they’re definitely worth the smile Shouto gives him, and -- “Don’t know if I should take fashion advice from a guy that still shops at Hot Topic, Katsuki,” Todoroki teases and yeah, yeah, it’s good. They’re good and -- (’I love you, too,’ Todoroki says, the moment they step into their tiny hallway and the door is shut behind them.) Yeah, they’re great.

As fun as it is to throw salt at Gosho I think this could be a good time to talk about some good DC cases. So, which are your top ten cases so far?
Hmmm, this took some thought–presented chronologically because I couldn’t pick preferential order XP
Billion Yen Robbery (013-016): Even disregarding its long-term impact on the plot, this case on its own had a good twist in how Akemi disguised herself and the lies she told to track down her robbery partners. I’m always a fan of people, rather than going for big heavy-duty disguises, just using little details of makeup and presentation to completely change their appearance. Ran’s big heart was evident in this case and how strongly she felt about “Masami”‘s safety after just meeting her twice, and this one also what is still one of my favourite ninja-Ran moments to date. Potential kidnapper/murderer across the street? Maybe we should call the police, or run down the stairs OR I GUESS WE COULD JUMP OUT OF A FIRST FLOOR WINDOW AND CHASE HIM ACROSS THE STREET AND DO A FLYING KICK TO DESTROY HIS CAR WINDOW AND ALSO HIS NOSE
Akemi’s death opens up a shitton of plot, and, despite how it gets slightly overused later on (not quite to “did you know Bruce Wayne’s parents got murdered” levels but definitely a biiiiit overused) it’s still one of the most genuinely tragic deaths, especially since Shinichi admitted his real name to her to try and offer her some comfort as she died. TEARS Q_Q
A Haunted Mansion Murder Case (017-019): The case that introduced the Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta. I always think of this one quite fondly. It had a genuinely creepy atmosphere–the “haunted” mansion looks the right side of cliche-creepy, especially once it turns out there’s actually someone around, and honestly I can forgive the incidents of the kids wandering off alone and vanishing because they’re six, of course they’re gonna do silly shit like wander off alone in a haunted mansion. And the truth of the matter is something that’s vanishingly rare in Detective Conan, something I wish we saw more often: a crime of passion.
There’s no clever trick to the murder: the son, Akio, just loses the rag under a torrent of verbal abuse and smashes his father’s head in with a candlestick. There’s no clever trick to the cover-up, either; his mother messed with the crime scene a bit and reported it as a robbery, and given that the family’s obviously very wealthy, money probably changed hands if any investigating officer did think to suspect anything other than a robbery. All she’s thinking about is protecting her son from the consequences of his crime; all he can think about is his guilt and horror over the murder he committed. The case goes from genuinely creepy to honestly tragic. It’s a proper emotional story, and at no point do any six-year-olds have to witness a human corpse, which I’m always in favour of. And I like Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi and I’m glad they were introduced shut the fuck up
The Hatamoto Family Case (020-025): This was another case with good creepy atmosphere, a solid closed circle situation, classic big fucked-up family situation but at the heart of it, Natsue and Takeshi are a genuinely sweet couple who really don’t deserve all this bullshit and you spend the case really hoping for them to be safe and things to turn out okay for them, the traumatic deaths of several close relatives aside. The murderer is pretty sad, though I feel like Gosho intended him to be more sympathetic than he actually was–he certainly could’ve done with less abuse from his grandfather and been allowed to emotionally invest in his art more, but the cousins thing aside, murdering multiple people over a girl you’ve never even approached marrying somebody else with whom she’s had an actual relationship and is in love with is… not sympathetic. But I’m also glad that the nice chef uncle came out alright too, and that all three of the sympathetic family members reappeared in later cases since they were all very likeable characters.
Moonlight Sonata (062-067): This one sticks in a lot of people’s minds, and I think it’s for the same reason that the haunted mansion case sticks in mine; atmosphere. This is another one with a good, genuinely creepy atmosphere from the immediate sense of “small town with a dark secret” we get as soon as the Mouri Detective Agency arrives on the island. Gosho was very good at building these atmospheres once upon a time, I would’ve liked to see him write a horror manga. The case is deeply tragic from start to finish, from the murders of the Asoh family, to the fact that Seiji/Narumi got the idea for the “curse” from playing a funeral song for a man who’d just had a heart attack after admitting to murdering their family, to the complex nature of Dr Asai’s grief and guilt that they felt the need to avenge their family but simultaneously called for a detective in the hopes that they’d be stopped, to their suicide at the end because they can’t live with what they felt obligated to do. There are Gosho’s usual… issues… with gender, and given the bigotry that became obvious later he probably had no clue at all what he was doing with Dr Asai’s gender, but I feel like they weren’t handled unkindly for an AMAB character living as a woman? I could be wrong and I wanna open this one up to the trans folk in the audience because I’ve never found a trans fan’s commentary on Dr Asai and how they think they were handled, but goddamn I still cry thinking of their suicide at the end and I appreciate that this was a one-off case that had a visible long-term emotional impact on Conan.
Magic Lovers’ Murder Case (192-196): As well as being an interesting murder involving some quite sympathetic characters, this is a really good case for seeing what Kaitou Kid’s like under the mask (or was like; I feel like he’s lost depth since this?) as expressed through Katsuki Doito. He came along to investigate suspicious user activity, but he joined the magic-lovers’ forum because he is a nerd for stage magic and stage magicians and enjoys nerding out about stage magic and stage magicians. He gets to unapologetically fanboy over his late father with other magicians, with is pretty goddamn cute imo. He also gets to show off knowledge and fondness for other magicians, and his knowledge of magic tricks is useful in solving the case, even though, by his own admission, he’s no detective, and it led to tragedy. We don’t really see how Kid felt about being unable to prevent that murder, since he was still being played as pretty mysterious at the time, but it was a good choice for his second appearance in DC imo since it cemented him as Not A Bad Dude. Also, Conan gets to be one of Those Shonen Protagonists by running across a burning bridge, which, y’know, is always cheesy, but also always kinda cool (the artwork was particularly effective imo)
Twilight Mansion (299-302): I genuinely enjoyed the gathering of the knock-off famous detectives and was pleasantly surprised by Hakuba’s appearance (back when I still held out hope that that kind of thing meant that Kid would get more involved in the plot). The mansion itself is actually quite gorgeously designed and rendered, especially at the end when the exterior crumbles, and again, DAT CREEPY ATMOSPHERE. I guess it’s officially plot-important now, too, which I just wanna say, I officially called nine years ago, but also I was hardly the only one calling BO involvement with Karasuma.
Most of all, in general, I just really like watching and reading things involving skilled people being very competent at what they do, so the fact that ALL of the gathered detectives (save that one dead one) figured out what was up and were able to communicate and come up with a plan without revealing themselves to the brilliant detective BEHIND the whole thing, and the execution of that plan, were all very, very good and I liked it. I might reread this one right now, actually, while I’m thinking about it, I really do enjoy it top to bottom.
Golden Apple Case (350-354): PEAK interesting backstory on the part of Vermouth and Yukiko, a reasonably interesting murder, Yukiko’s RAD driving scene, and one of my favourite Ran moments ever. The confrontation with the serial killer/Vermouth is tense as hell, and the fact that Ran reacts instinctively to save his life and just can’t bring herself to drop him and let him die, to be responsible for a death, no matter whose, is a very powerful statement on the integrity of her character. She’s just to her core, and Shinichi does steal the moment a bit by helping her pull the serial killer up and getting the really good “you might need a reason to kill, but you don’t need a reason to save a life” line, but this still feels entirely like a Ran moment for me. We find out later that this incident had a profound effect on Vermouth, too, and is possibly the entire reason she’s hiding Shinichi’s secret from the BO and explicitly the reason she doesn’t want Ran to come to harm. Shame we haven’t had much Vermouth character development in a while because this stuff was JUICY.
Two Cases Under One Moon (429-434): An ICONICALLY good Bo-fightin’ case where everybody involved is putting in Maximum Effort. Heiji puts on an extremely good show as a fake Shinichi (the boy’s an extreme drama queen and Heiji does that very well), Yukiko’s disguise skills are valuable and well-used, we finally get the revelation that Vermouth has been Dr Araide for a while AND that she’s maybe immortal (…not… that we’ve gotten ANYTHING on that since..) AND we get the VERY interesting nature of her feelings concerning Shinichi and Ran. Also, we get Ran so concerned about Ai’s wellbeing that she hides in a car boot and then jumps into gunfire in order to protect her, GOD that’s SUCH a good Ran moment. Shinichi, Jodie and Akai all also get to be very brave and very smart and very badass, and ugh really I just wanna go back to everything about Vermouth in this case and explore more of that forever. Please. Also more Jodie, whose backstory we finally got in this case after revealing that she’s not Vermouth. What is it with interesting women disappearing as soon as their backstory is out MOVING ALONG
Clash of Red and Black (595-609): This case is a cracking case. This one was long and complicated and many-layered and everybody involved was on their highest gears and it was great. Akai and Conan work as a fantastic team and Conan gets free reign to do some very good detective work for the FBI (I still believe he told Akai who he was during this case, it would make sense and undercuts how concerned I am with all of these grown adults letting a six-year-old run all around an active incident). We get a good look at the incredible power and cruelty of the Black Organization when they cause immense collateral damage just to flush the FBI out. We get the story on both Akemi and Akai’s relationship AND the Hondo family, and OH BOY THE HONDO FAMILY.
It’s also one of the most interesting Eisuke cases, imo, where not only does he do some solid investigation to find Mizunashi Rena, we get a glimpse of some real deep trauma over losing his last family member that’s driven him to be willing to attack Rena with scissors out of desperation to get answers about what happened to his father and sister. I mean, I am most definitely not advocating stabbing coma patients, but for Eisuke a lot of the trauma of your whole beloved family dying or disappearing was just implied and not explored, and then he got booted from the series immediately after things got interesting with him, so bleh. We also barely see Hidemi after this, and ?????????? because she’s a CIA agent who’s in DEEP to the BO after surviving a HORRIFYING situation where she has to proudly boast of murdering a man who was secretly her FATHER, who SACRIFICED HIS LIFE TO PROTECT HER… why are we dicking around so much with Mystery Family instead of exploring this one??? This case is kind of the last hurrah for anything interesting happening with the Hondos so I love it for that.
And I love the complicated counter-bluff involved in delivering Kir back to the Black Organization without looking like they were delivering her. Again, this was apparently in exchange for her assisting the FBI and she barely appears after this…? Nope this isn’t about salting at Gosho moving on
The Life-Threatening Broadcast of Love (804-808): I love this one solely and 300% for the part where Miwako Sato jumps out of a helicopter, shoots a noose off of her boyfriend’s neck, grabs him, wraps her coat around him to protect them and knocks both of them out of the range of a bomb blast at the last second, like the goddamn action hero that she is.
So in no particular order, those are my top ten: how about the rest of you?

Elizabeth Midford, Dull Swords: Part 1, Building a fight scene
Tumblr media
Despite Black Butler’s massive popularity as an anime and manga, by film standards the movie falls far beyond what the fandom would have expected. The first live action was received with heavy negative criticism and it would seem that ‘Book of the Atlantic’ fell somewhat in the same way. In less than two weeks of the Japanese release and the three days of US release the film earned less than $5,000,000 combined - in comparison, the highest grossing film of the year, ‘Detective Conan: Crimson Love Letter’ earned $11,749,652 alone on its opening weekend.
These two movies can’t be compared, due to the huge differences in the plots and narratives yet… Black Butler’s production team could learn a thing or two. The greatest fault in ‘BOTA’ was its “so-so” action, that was also said to be a fault in the previous movie. Knowing this, I’d like to analyse Elizabeth’s famous fight scene and look into why the series has been known for poor action scenes despite the great action depicted in the manga.
Long post so the rest is under the cut.
For anyone who would like to watch the fight as they read the analysis, the full fight is linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LfH_MLe7jI
Tumblr media
An important thing to know about writing fight scenes is that a fight alone is not interesting. It is the weight behind that fight that makes things interesting. Superheroes fight to save the world and villains fight to accomplish their own goals. The start of this fight is not interesting because it begins with Grell wanting to fight simply for the sake of fighting - this is just Grell’s character. We know that one of her main roles in the series is to block Ciel and Sebastian from attaining their goal. Our protagonists, Ciel, Sebastian and Elizabeth want to avoid this fight instead, giving us more of a reason as to why this fight should be done with as soon as possible. This fight does however have one purpose - leading up to Elizabeth’s exposition as the swordswoman she is.
Tumblr media
When creating a fight scene, interest is added by raising the stakes - the more danger there is of losing something, the greater the emotional payoff and tension - each fight should be a gamble that makes us feel that the characters we root for have to win. Even if they’re bound to lose, the chance that they should win should at least tempt us. Toboso changes this with how she portrays Sebastian.
Tumblr media
Usually when Sebastian engages in battle, we expect him to win every fight, since he’s put forward as this amazing force that always succeeds his tasks. Fighting against two reapers should mean nothing to him. Yet, the extra baggage of protecting two children raises a problem. By separating them, Toboso then creates the possibility of “only one can survive” - Sebastian would choose Ciel in priority over Elizabeth. In this instance, we start to fear that Elizabeth is in danger.
Tumblr media
Given that Ciel would “do anything to protect his fiancee”, we trust that he’ll be able to reach out to Elizabeth in her time of need. With an injured leg, Ciel is then rendered useless in his state. The fact that Ciel is pictured as further away from Elizabeth in the manga, shown by how Ciel is not in the frame, highlights her vulnerability against the Dolls that are drawn enormously in comparison to her size. Not only is he unable to protect her, but he’s unable to protect himself if Sebastian can’t shake the reapers off of him.
Tumblr media
In the film, Ciel is pictured relatively close to her, removing this aspect of fear for Elizabeth’s state. The film makes it seem as if either one of them was able to stand, they could make it to each other in less than a few seconds. Since the idea that Ciel will always protect Elizabeth has been referred to in the film numerous times already, we believe that if she makes it to him he’ll do what he can to protect her. While one may argue that this puts Ciel in danger as well, Sebastian could come in soon and save the both of them - the distance between them in the manga is important in exaggerating that the matter of a second could literally result in Elizabeth’s death.
Tumblr media
The manga shows her sluggish movements to get up while Ciel calls out to her quite well, since the distance between her and the Bizarre Dolls is much closer to make it seem as if they’re closer to grabbing her than they really are.
Tumblr media
The fact that when the camera cuts to Elizabeth as she’s already propped herself up removes the aspect of vulnerability that’s shown in the manga. The way that the film only shows their legs in the foreground does play with the whole compositing of the scene, making them look larger than they are, but it ends up losing the sense of urgency that the manga had as they seem close enough to touch her.
Tumblr media
In the manga, we don’t see Ciel whip out his gun and cut straight to him shooting. This already is far more effective than how in the film we see him pull the gun out (rather slowly considering the situation) and then shoot. This panel is effective as it shows the speed of his fire - he wants to kill them as fast as he can and the futility in it shows it. The film only shows the first shot then switches to focus on Ciel shooting, rather than the targets he’s aiming at. To improve this, perhaps a shot showing his perspective as he watches Elizabeth try to scramble away with his shaking hands in the frame as shoots would be more effective.
Tumblr media
Not to mention that as the first Doll lunges to bite Elizabeth, for some reason it gets launched sideways instead of being fired back by the force of Ciel’s gun. If you slow it down enough it even looks as if the image of the Doll being shot was just dragged across the screen instead of actually flopping from the force of the shot.
Tumblr media
The next image of Ciel shooting is relatively basic. The team might as well have just made a gif of Ciel shooting those three shots or so and it could look the same. There lacks any variation in those few moments that we see. Comparatively, the single image in the manga of Ciel shooting at the horde without showing the Dolls being killed right before Elizabeth is much more effective. It’s made evident in the manga that this boy is in full panic as we see the large group towering over Elizabeth, once again with the distance exaggerated as much smaller to create the sense of danger. The open space around Ciel in the film also takes away from how much tension there was in the manga - while you can argue that this shows his isolation, having this sort of shot in this perspective loses the image of danger that threatens Elizabeth.
Tumblr media
In the manga, we truly see Ciel’s terror as he realises that his gun is out of bullets because of the closeness of the panel and the tightness of the frame which follows the positioning of his arms. Not to mention how the gun is so centred in the panel, showing how it’s the centre of his focus.
Tumblr media
Ciel’s expression in the manga shows fear by a wider mouth and the more dramatic shading over his face. In the film, his expression is much more frustrated. This choice is obviously understandable. It’s a pretty shot and all, but it does take away from some of the drama because the position is far less dynamic.
Tumblr media
The sequence of events leading up to Elizabeth’s reveal changes, which arguably makes it less effective. In the manga, switching perspectives between Sebastian, Elizabeth and Ciel adds to the chaotic nature of this scene. Everyone has different opponents but they all need to survive. Seeing Sebastian dash towards Elizabeth emphasises that even he might not be able to save her, shown by how close the Dolls hands are to Elizabeth. The manga is able to use action lines to show and highlight the focal point of each panel. Such a thing would be harder to animate. Though used heavily in sports anime like ‘Haikyuu’ and ‘Ballroom e Youkoso’, in a setting such a ‘Black Butler’ which tries for elegant and refined style, rather than artistic interpretation, these sort of lines don’t fit as well.
Tumblr media
Arguably, the most important part for this build-up is how Ciel reacts to believing his fiancee is about to die before his eyes. The order of focus is especially important in this. In the film, Elizabeth starts to talk, turning around just as the feet of the Dolls come into frame. This is a relatively good shot. Here, the director chose to show Elizabeth’s vulnerability more by emphasising the height disadvantage. On the floor, she lacks the escape means. In the manga, she may be sitting down, but the danger is shown in the form of hands. What the film shows is the immense force that is about to strike down on top of her. The manga does this as well, but I would give this a pass.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, the manga highlights the panic that the both of them feel in this situation. In the film, Elizabeth is already smiling as she talks to Ciel, and then we see Ciel’s reaction, rather than how Ciel in the manga realises first and then we see Elizabeth’s struggle to hold in her tears. The film chose to show Elizabeth in a state of acceptance, which again is very powerful, making the audience think that she’s resigned to her death.
Tumblr media
Ciel’s expression in the film is much more akin to anger, a frustration in how he’s unable to save her. The manga’s choice shows Ciel in absolute fear - the lack of colour serves to dramatise this as well. Black Butler is known for beautiful eyes and just zooming in on the empty look of Ciel’s eyes shows the rawness of his fear. His gentler brow also serves towards showing more fear than the sharper brow in the film. This, coupled with the echoed gasp and sound effect, adds to the hollow feeling that Ciel would feel upon realising the possible fate of Elizabeth.
Tumblr media
Once again, the lack of colour in the manga adds to the dramatic panic felt in this scene. During the entire scene, Elizabeth’s blazer was coloured black, as well as her eyelashes - pretty much everything has been turned to greys. As she cries over how she can’t be cute anymore, the softened lines serve to show her in the last angelic moment that she may well have. At this point, it’s hard to tell what are water droplets and what are tears as they run down her face. Her innocence is also highlighted by lighter eyes and shaded cheeks and lips in contrast to her tangled mess of hair. This is the last image that Ciel may see of his beautiful feminine fiancee.
Tumblr media
I have less complaints about the image of her in the film. The camera panning up to her crying face emphasises how delicate she is while also keeping the Dolls in the background to keep their threat important. There’s far less detail and her eyes are drawn wonkily, but at least they tried to make this dramatic with the camera movement.
Tumblr media
Sebastian finally manages to escape Ronald with simple movements, but that can be forgiven since he isn’t the focal point. Instead, we have the image of him running to save Elizabeth, but all that can be seen of her is her dress between the legs of the Dolls. At this point, the film tells you that it’s all over for her.
Tumblr media
I don’t want to pick up on this, but the way that Sebastian runs here makes me think of the spider gif. It really is a downer to what is a good scene but it had to be said. If this gif doesn’t work when I post it I’ll start crying.
Tumblr media
Another flaw I’d point out would be Ciel’s final reach out to Elizabeth. The way this is done in the film feels far too smooth, rather than carnal and desperate - how one would normally react in absolute panic. It’s more like a dramatic flourish that someone would do in a high school play. Of course, his expression of panic is still great. Wide mouthed in a choked/silent scream. If this was animated with a greater sense of urgency, there’d be less of a problem here.
Tumblr media
Frame tightness is especially important for the drama of this scene - the manga frame is tight and barely shows Ciel’s full face. This can symbolise how trapped he feels in not being able to do anything. His under eyes are also heavily shaded to show his distress. The open spaces and use of the background feels inappropriate for the close seriousness of the situation. The manga also showcases a look with greater desperation as we see how things are from Elizabeth’s eyes - her fiance screaming for her is the last image that she’d see.
Tumblr media
The fact that we see Elizabeth once again as the shadows of the Dolls close up on her is a really good directorial choice. Here the camera’s closeness to Elizabeth’s form works. It almost feels as if she’s saying goodbye to her audience instead, the tighter frame making us form a more personal connection with her, making up for the lesser emotion that Ciel was drawn in beforehand. In opposition to the reactions of Ciel and Sebastian who see that they’re too late in the manga, having Elizabeth listen as her fiancee screams her name in darkness is really well done.
Tumblr media
The blackness that fills the screen is just as effective as in the manga to make one think that Elizabeth’s finally been killed. Letting this ring for two seconds gives the audience a chance to think that a death really has occurred. For an audience member who hasn’t read the manga, this would be effective enough to make them think for a second that she’s gone. These few seconds are good and there’s little I would change and I’m glad that the director actually chose to do this. This blackness serves as an equivalent to the page turn and makes it even more surprising when we realise what happens next.
Tumblr media
As pernickety as this analysis has gotten over the build up, it’s important to look at it because this is how fights are built up. You don’t start out in any martial arts match with the massive axe kicks and what not. Tension is built up in every fight, whether an official match or in a fictional setting, by the fighters raring up to the bigger scenes instead of coming out with them straight away. Toboso wrote the build up to Elizabeth’s revelation well, which is why this had so much of a reaction for Japanese readers - far greater than Grell’s reintroduction.
Now, despite all that we’ve looked in to so far… we’ve only scraped six or so pages - 30 seconds if you want to talk about it in the films terms. You can see clearly that there are some great points that the film has done well to adapt the manga. It can also be seen that there are some areas of the film which are “so-so” because it lacks the same depth that the manga does.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this scene alone. I will be getting to the rest of the fight direction, where I believe things start to decline, but I can’t give too much away right now.
