9th House: How do the Elemental groupings take interests of culture
Good day to you all! I wanted to write down how each elemental group takes interest in certain aspects of a culture. No sign, element or modality dictate what specific culture you lean towards nor dictates what certain aspects of culture you are drawn to exclusively. This means that you are more drawn to these aspects of a culture, which includes the influence of planets in the 9th house, aspects, and of course, your personal choice/will. I will constantly be using the word “a culture” and not “foreign culture” since the 9th House rule culture, not just foreign culture. Learning culture isn’t exclusive to traveling, especially now we have the internet to learn cultures though nothing beats being there yourself. That being said, here are the following groups that influence your affinity towards certain aspect of a culture in your 9th house (No planetary and aspects):
Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius 9th House)
Interested in the brighter and optimistic side of a culture
Interested in a culture’s martial arts and its philosophy
Might enjoy a (healthy) competition with locals of that culture (Ex: Might want to horse race the locals who are renown for horse riding)
Enjoys learning about their religion/faith
Interested in activities that are popular in a culture (Surfing in an island culture for example)
Loves to join cultural festivities and parties
More interested in traveling the countrysides of their preferred culture’s country (Ex: I have a Leo in the 9th house and I would love to ride a horse in the countryside of Japan)
Could be interested on individuals of that particular culture who are popular and helped the country/culture in their own way
Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn 9th House)
Interested in the culture’s structure and how it operates day-to-day basis (This reminds me about  Paolo from Tokyo’s videos wherein the majority of his videos talks about how your average Japanese works in Japan, specifically Tokyo)
Interested in the culture’s traditions from traditional clothing and traditional celebrations
Likely prefers the old school aspects of a culture
Takes special interest in a culture’s food and beverages
Likes to know how a culture promotes physical health (Ex. Dietary culture, popular physical exercises)
Interested in the general work culture of the culture. Also interested in how businesses and economy works in a culture
Loves to be in the countryside though probably less hyperactive than Fire on the 9th
Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius 9th House)
Interested in the culture’s language(s) and dialect(s)
May be interested in learning their sense of humor
Interested in how they communicate; how they conduct themselves socially/ knowing the social norms and mores
Interested in knowing the culture’s trends and fads
Interested in their education system
Interested in knowing what is progressing (Ex: technological advancement, values that are progressive for them)
Interested in what part of that culture is unique (Ex: Tipping in Japan is considered offensive in comparison to other countries. Japanese takes pride of doing great services and tipping indicates that they are not doing a great job while a country like the United States believes in the opposite)
Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces 9h House)
Interested in the dark and cynical aspects of a culture (Ex: history of violent wars, war crimes, how a culture oppress their minorities, you get the memo)
Interested in the taboo side of the culture
Interested in knowing how the family structure works and how dynamic it is
Interested in their spirituality, philosophy, and mental health
Interested in the lesser known/mysterious part of a culture
Could be interested in knowing how a culture operates emotionally
Might be attracted to the occult aspects of a culture. Might research about cults (defining “cult” depends on the culture’s definition in combination of your own terminology)

Вдруг кто пользуется!

Tumblr media

I'm reading Wikihow on how to go to sauna and I'm LIVID. Who the hell wrote this article, this is all bullshit???
"First, wash yourself with a mild soap before going to sauna" = NO, you rinse yourself with water from head to toe first. If you wear a make up, you can wash that off. If you are extremely dirty like covered with oil, shit and blood, then do wash yourself with a soap first.
"Use a swimsuit or a towel in public saunas" = NO, you fucking sit there naked. Period. In swimming halls it is actually dangerous to sit in sauna in a wet bathing suit because of the pools' chlorine, which WILL evaporate.
"Sit on your towel in the sauna" = NO, you don't fucking bring your frigging towel in the sauna. Public saunas provide seat covers which you will take with you from the locker room (like hotels) and dispose afterwards OR you bring your own seat cover with you. You DO NOT sit on the same towel you dry yourself with you fucking ass.
"After you have sat in sauna, come out, cool down and dress yourself" = PUT CLOTHES ON ON YOUR FUCKING SWEATY SKIN??? WITH NO WASHING YOURSELF? BITCH AFTER SAUNA YOU TAKE A PROPER SHOWER AND WASH YOURSELF FROM HEAD TO TOE.

lets turn this conversation back to asia lmao. i also find it interesting how these terms have shifted here in seasia. grew up pretty much understanding that asians that come here are immigrants while white people that come here are expats, even if the white people give up their citizenship. what i find interesting is that recently there has been a shift, rich people from other asian countries are also being labelled as "exapts" whether or not they plan to migrate back. however the racism still prevails - people who were completely fine with white expats are complaining and protesting about asian expats stealing their jobs. you'll never see a poor asian person get the expat treatment though, even if they are only here to make some money and go back in a few years. there's your nuance random commentor
exactly, like you'll never see an indonesian or filipino woman who comes to work as a maid in malaysia or singapore to make some money and go back in a few years being called an expat, she is always an "immigrant" but a wealthier person from south korea or japan doing white collar work may now be described as an "expat" much like westerners. like you said, white people who immigrate permanently and even take up citizenship are still called "expats" and not "immigrants" because the word "immigrant" has racial and class connotations. my mom is a white canadian who immigrated to malaysia and has had PR for 20+ years but she's only ever called an expat, not an immigrant. whereas my (malaysian indian) dad in canada has held canadian PR for 40+ years and he's only ever been called an immigrant, even though he had no intention of staying permanently.

anna biller’s bluebeard’s castle….. offensively bad. each turn of the page adds insult to injury. maybe the most vapid dialogue and narrative monologue I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. am sat here questioning what manner of incontrovertible steaming refuse I have with great anticipation brought into my hearth and home? a trojan horse parading as a subversive contribution to the literary barbe bleu canon while secretly harbouring a special agent sent here to ruin my evening and possibly my entire life?
will not be finishing the novel but will be keeping it on my shelf untouched and unloved as a hostile cautionary symbol like a head on a pike

i think its so cool that iwtv uses visual & cultural shorthand to say something without really saying it (except they kind of do say it as well cause louis is called a houeswife) and its kind of sad ppl aren't even appreciating it like if you remember all the old sitcoms you watched growing up when the kid needed to learn how to drive who was teaching them? probably the dad. we've spent our whole lives watching brides get carried into the house after marriage. we watched lucille ball clean the house while ricky came home in a suit and tie. we've seen a million courtships where the boy gets invited to dinner at the girl's family and they grill him on his intentions, as well as proposals by men getting down on their knees. we've also seen countless romantic comedies where the man uses a song to woo back the girl he lost. does this mean all relationships or marriages have this exact dynamic??? obviously not!! are there also examples of the reverse?? duh. but storytelling is not just about what's in front of you but also the culmination of what you've seen before.

I haven't watched it recently enough to do this analysis in depth, but I definitely think there's something interesting to be said about the interplay between two representations of power in Goncharov - one "legitimate" but less overtly on-screen (the USSR as a state) and one "illegitimate" (organized crime via the Neapolitan mafia), and how the lines between them end up blurring through the different roles each of the characters move through.
it feels relevant to how the Cold War in general is this sort of era where the boundaries of legitimate government, conflict, warfare and tactics, etc. are all in flux and subject to mistrust - your own side becoming "criminal", exploitative, ruthless in pursuit of their own power, like the characterization of the people you're initially set against - questioning what loyalty means when there aren't any good choices, just people on one side or the other getting hurt regardless.

A funny commonality to both indian/hindu and euro-american creepy etnonationalists who closk their retrograde politics in the veil of anticolonialism is how they will complain about Abrahamic missionaries/invaders trampling over their pristine authentic ancient indigenous traditions even when this offending abrahamic presence often predates large swathes of "traditional" customs and folkloric/religious beliefs and so forth, thus impeding their reclamation of their "real" ancestral culture. Bc if Christian/islamic interference with ones ancient ways is intolerably foreign and oppressive no matter how long ago it was introduced then, oh boy, you are going to fucking hate hearing about the spread of indo European culture!
(Ik that hindu ethnats do in fact develop elaborate pseudoscientific conspiracy theories to hide their head in the sand on this point, i am not sure if this immune response has yet been adopted by the "retvrn to yr evropean roots to avoid culturally appropriating from indigenous Americans" crowd)
