ITTO . . . "Ah, shit you feel so good," he groans against your neck, nuzzling into your warm skin before his teeth catch against your flesh. It makes you whine, hips bucking desperately but still those firm hands grip you in place on his lap.
"Itto, please," you whine. It felt like torture, being this stuffed full with no friction even the small wiggles of your hips didn't provide any relief and your desire was only rising, growing into some ravenous thing inside your chest.
"C'mon, you can hold out a little longer-" his words fell off into a gasp as you were finally able to lift yourself up, feeling near tears as you slid back down his thick cock, moaning as the feeling of your cunt squeezing around him. You knew you were being a bit of a brat but you'd had enough, an eternity of squirming in his hold crying out for him to just fuck you.
That was all it took for his resolve to shatter, any intention of holding you flush against his thighs abandoned feeling your pussy practically sucking him back in every time you'd lift your hips. The head of his cock pushing against that spongy spot inside you had your vision turning to static, the world barely visible in flashes as you frantically brought his hand to your clit, your fingers clawing against his shoulders as he circled it. It felt like you were on fire, molten lava flowing through your veins before it burst out, leaving you whimpering and biting into Ittos neck as your orgasm crested.
You went blissfully boneless as he fully supported your body, thrusting sloppily upwards into your cunt with strangled grunts and whispers of affection against the side of your head. Every time he cums inside you swear you've never felt more full in all your life, yet each time feels like the first; cum spreading like syrup to coat your insides while he remained hard inside you.
An exhausted smile painted your face, both of you curious how much more you could take tonight and Itto firmly believing you should start every night sat on his lap and milking his cock.
ALHAITHAM . . . Cold. Egocentric. Aloof. All things you'd said to him before, mostly in jest sometimes out of frustration with how detached he could be. Still, none of that mattered when you were creating a puddle of arousal on his lap inside the House of Daena.
"Quit squirming," his cadence hasn't changed despite your needy cunt squeezing around him in a vice grip. The reprimand made an embarrassed heat sear beneath your skin, making it prickle. Nobody got you as worked up as he did, and he was smug in that fact. Knowing you publicly detested him yet privately let him bury load after load inside you gave him a perverted satisfaction.
This was a step above, however. Getting you like this, cunt soaked and shivering from holding yourself back, in a place as risky as this? A feat to be satisfied with.
"You're so run by desire, it'd be repulsive if I didn't enjoy your company," he mused, a wicked grin on his face as he moved his hips to tease you with the promise of friction as one hand snaked up your shirt to pinch at your nipple.
It had you even more keyed up, fingernails digging into the pages of the book laid out before you so hard they were drained of color. So you still had the presence of mind to pretend this was a normal, if bizarrely intimate, study session.
He couldn't wait to see exactly how long you'd last like this.
DILUC . . . Morning light filtered through the gauzy window coverings, the bedroom awash in shades of muted gold that highlighted you, sleeping peacefully beside him.
A strange wistfulness enveloped him, a longing to remain here in this moment for as long as possible. Willing you to remain asleep, swimming through dreams while his hands unconsciously roamed your body. They weren't the ravenous movements of lust, no, but the pensive movements of a man overcome with love.
He did love you, as heart stopping as that revelation had been he was glad for it. It forced him to admit the life of a stoic perfectionist was a lonely one, starkly contrasted by this present warmth with frigid greys.
As his thumbs ghosted over your nipples came the silent I love you. His index traced your bottom lip with the same silent thought. Swiping his fingers through your arousal, feeling his blood thrum hot with eagerness, and feeling the low pressure as the head of his cock pushed past the relaxed muscle he couldn't help but groan the same sentiment out loud as he sunk inside you.
Catching his breath, that zeal ebbed into a lazy comforting one and he had no desire to move or rouse you from whatever pleasant dreams captured you. He only hoped he was in them, too, as he pressed soft kisses to your shoulder and the back of your neck, accompanied by the blissful slight pulse of your walls around him.
KAEYA . . . This was a punishment a long time coming, you were fairly sure. The last few days had seen more bold teasing from you, and his growing irritation with your antics.
Tears pricked in your eyes as his hand gripped your jaw, your mouth open with garbled whimpering. You'd been impaled on his cock for what felt like hours, your cunt throbbing and clit sore from the smacks he'd given you when you'd tried to get yourself off.
And now you were here, spread eagle with your back against the solid desk, his cock buried inside you yet still, and Kaeya with that mean glint in his eye.
"Now now, you couldn't listen yet you expect to be rewarded? That just doesn't make sense," he tutted.
You whined again, hands gripping his forearm as he leaned down closer to your face. You could barely make out the glittering string of spit through the tears gathered at your waterline but you knew this was yet another test.
Enthusiastically you lapped it up, swallowing as you knew he expected you to. Your pussy ached with how badly you needed him to move, wrap your legs around him and feel him flood you with orgasm after orgasm. You needed it so bad your thighs shook, legs trembling pathetically all splayed out.
Even though his face was now unreadable, you hoped you'd earned at least a small reward with that show of obedience.

I just couldn't believe it... My best friend just got married, and here I was sitting in this fold-out chair around the fire pit at a get-together, holding a glass of Moscato d'Asti. I should be happy for Samantha and Eli. I'd known them my whole life, and of course, I loved the updates that she sent her dad and others. But here I am, just a post-grad living with my parents while Samantha and Eli are in Italy on their honeymoon.
I watch the flames flicker and crackle. Chuck, the German shepherd, knudges my foot. That is all it takes to get me out of my thoughts. Chuck holds a ball in his mouth, his tail wagging slightly as he tilts his head. Chuck's eyes are the epitome of expressiveness, as if he holds all his feelings in the hues of his puppy dog's eyes, just like his owner's eyes.
I look up and around to see what the others are doing.
Sam, Bucky, and my father Steve are talking. My mother and Sam's wife share a conversation separately.

I decided to place my wine down and sneak off out of the fenced yard, with Chuck the shepherd following me up into a large field up behind the limewashed house. The hills roll for miles, some tree lines scattered across the valley, patches off it darkened by the banks of creeks, but it wasn't the view that took my breath away as I threw the ball for Chuck.
It was the stars; they were beautiful. The only light that wasn't from the moon came from the house at the bottom of the hill. Eventually, I sat down in the grass, and Chuck lay beside me.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't hear the footsteps coming up behind me, and only out of my peripheral view did I see him sit down beside me, but I still didn't look at him. I kept my eyes on the stars.
"That star right there is Vega." He starts his voice, gruff but not harsh; he sounds calm. "Below it is Deneb, it uh makes. " There's a slight pause—no more than a nanosecond—but I picked it up. "Cygn-the Swan," he cuts off the original name he was going to say. I move my head in his direction, but my eyes linger on Cygnus for a moment before my eyes meet his.
As I look at him, all I can think about is how beautiful he is. I shouldn't be thinking of him this way. He's my dad's best friend. I've known him for the better part of my life.
But how does the moonlight refract off his blue orbs so beautifully? The way it highlights the pale skin while keeping his faint freckles that faintly dust the bridge of his nose, fading into the apple of his cheeks, is so prominent, unlike how the sun fades out the star-like marks. But soon, my thoughts yet again fade into how I'm falling behind all of my friends. Everyone I've ever known is falling in love, and I'm falling behind—behind on a relationship, behind on my life, behind on losing my virginity. God, I would have been behind on my first kiss if it wasn't for that game of spin the bottle in my senior year of high school.
The bad part is that he can read me like a book, whether I like it or not. "What's on your mind, kiddo?"
God, why does his voice have to be that caring and his eyes that gentle? "You've been quiet all night. That's not like you, sneaking off, especially before finding a way to tell Sam and I your newest joke." Again, in a way, I find myself asking why Bucky Barnes has to be so perceptive.
"It's nothing, Buck," I say, but I just could tell that my tone wasn't cutting it.
"No, it's not." He doesn't sugarcoat his words. "Somethings bothering you, Dol-Kiddo; you can talk to me. You can always talk to me." He cuts himself off again. I knew what he was going to call me, and I couldn't help but wish he'd call me Doll and not just Kiddo.
We sit in static silence for a while before I say anything.
"I just feel as if I'm falling behind." I'm messing with my fingers as I speak.
"You're taking it all in," he pauses. "I wish I had taken it all in.".
I take in his words before responding, "You do?" I know about his marriage to Dotty, the military, and then some of the divorce. "Yeah, looking back, I wish I would've," he replied to my question before I could even take in what I asked. "I think if I took my time with all the big things, I would've been way happier than I was. That's in the past. I rushed and regretted it, but there's nothing that I can do about it now."
When I glance over to him, he is looking up at the stars and resting back on his elbows. He starts to speak again as I face him. "I don't know what's on your mind, and I sure as hell can't tell you that I do, but whatever it is, take your time."
"If I take my time, I'm sure I'll die a virgin."
I wish I could've stopped the stupid words that spilled out of my mouth, but it happened so quickly that I didn't even register what I had said until I saw the expression on his face.
"I'm so sorry." Oh, um," "I didn't mean it." "No, it's ok." We went back and forth for a few brief moments.

"We should probably head back before they notice we're gone." I start to say, It's almost like I didn't hear what I'd said, but as I start to stand,
"I could fix that." That stopped me dead in my tracks. "Y/n.. shit," he breathes in. "I didn't mean to say that," he says, starting to ramble as he stands. "God, Y/N, I'm so sorry; I didn't mean to."
"You really mean that." I didn't even hear him start to ramble. All I could hear was I could fix that, repeating in my head—my thoughts.
"Yes, Y/N, yes, I really apologize for saying that." He touched my arm briefly, and that snapped me out of my thoughts.
I look up at him, confused as to why he is apologizing. I arch an eyebrow. "So you're saying you'd take my virginity? I'd let you." I crane my neck back but then briefly look at the group's near the firepit, making sure nobody has glanced over.
It seems Bucky has the same idea, but he looks back at me, his eyes blown wide and his eyebrows raised. "What?" He sounds skeptical, but also like he's playing off the fact that he didn't hear what I said.
I match his tone and parrot his "What?" We stared at each other for a few moments.
"Y/n, if you're just pulling my leg, tell me, but don't joke about that shit," Bucky breathes out.
"I'm not joking." My tone is much quieter. "Before you say anything," I pointedly say, "I'm not a kid anymore. Buck, I can't stand being treated like one" or called one, but I'd never say that to his face, "especially because I'm not experienced." I use the palm of my hand to rub my eye.
"Believe me, sweetheart, I know, I know," he says, his tone gentle as his eyes try to catch mine as he speaks. "We can talk about this later. It's getting late, and I'm sure your folks want to go home."
"You promise we'll talk?" My tone clearly holding disbelief.
"I promise."

hellbent (WIP)
Author's Note: After posting homebound (link), I immediately began working on a ficlet featuring the overprotective love interest trope starring John Seed. However, I've only picked it up again this week, so I'm posting this early on WIP Wednesday.
The whole of Holland Valley knew John Seed as a madman. You? All you knew was that he was mad. Wrath he called you, though it sounded like it suited him better. Especially during his last radio call.
“Wrath,” he screamed through the static. “Goddamit, Wrath! Where are you?”
“Language, Seed,” you shot back, not being able to see if you’ve hit your target, but hearing the words had wounded him instead. “Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain.”
“I’ll find you, girl,” his words were muffled, his mouth probably planted close enough to kiss the microphone. “Even if I have to burn down every dive bar and liquor store in this valley to draw you out, I’ll find you.”
“Thought you let me break curfew so that I could go bar hopping,” you smirked. And, while he couldn’t have seen you do so, he sure as shit heard it in your tone. “I thought you let me out so that I could indulge in my sins.”
“I did and you have,” he answered, the coolness of it making him out to be as inhuman as the receiver his voice was coming out of. “And now I’m coming to save you from yourself.” Before you could press the button to press his buttons, John Seed went completely cold as the receiver went silent.
Feeling only a little bit frustrated by his lack of fire on this chilly night, you finally dismount your bike and let it recline on the stand instead of your legs. After, you unfasten your leather jacket on your short walk to the rest stop entrance, feeling only a little bit heated. Then, taking in the neon-lit shelves and the yellow-stained floors, you cool off with the thought of a cold Coke.
The truth is that you didn’t set out to indulge in anything else besides caffeine tonight. And the lie is that you bask in the fire your wrath left in its wake. That is the lie you fed to John Seed through your shared frequency, the target you put on your back as you drove away from Holland Valley, from everyone you wouldn’t want to be in his crosshairs. And the truth was that businesses that you were a patron of were going up in flames.
So you sigh in sweet relief as the taste of the sugary drink elevated some weight off of your heavy shoulders. “Needed that,” you paid for the half-emptied bottled as soon as you made it to the counter. “Keep the change.” And you exit before the kid on the other side of it can lift his head and recognize you.
All you knew was that John Seed was mad and you wouldn’t bet a poor boy’s life on him not blowing a gasket along with the rest stop.
“That you, Deputy?”
The door slammed loudly behind you, but it’s a shouting human voice that startled you.
You shake your head frantically and walk back to your bike briskly. “Not tonight I’m not.”
The man is indignant and you can tell from the sound that comes out of his throat. Because you weren’t facing him. You couldn’t face him. Not after what happened the last time you did.
“It’s me,” you hear him hop out of the pick-up and bounce back on his boots like he’d lost his footing. “It’s Jean. But you called me Jaaawn,” he slurs like he’d forgotten how you speak. “Yes, Jaaawn. Fuck yes,” he spits your own drunken words back to you.
It’s like he’s getting the both of you shitfaced again. It’s like he’s in your face and up your shirt and in your pants again. Like you never shoved him off of you and locked him in the bathroom stall. Like the bar is still up and running and not in ruins after some Peggie recognised you stumbling out of it and gave John Seed the excuse to indulge in his wrath.
“I’d buy you a drink, buuut,” he stumbles between you and your bike. “But John made them all go BOOM.”
Jean didn’t look much like John Seed tonight, so that drink he’d bought you was strong enough to make him shape-shift before your very inebriated eyes. Though he stands at the same height and combs back the same dark hair with fingers covered in just as much ink, his eyes are more murky green than clear blue. And though he stands before you untouched by the collateral damage your indulgence has caused, you don’t hesitate to lay your hands on him and shove him to the side.
“I’m going sober,” you decline, determined to quit drinking Coke, too, and drive off.
“Least you could do is moan my name,” he spits. “My real name. While I'm fingerin’ your pussy. That was me, bitch, not John fuckin’ Seed.”
The whole of Holland Valley knew John Seed had eyes and ears everywhere. All you knew was that Jean’s slurred speech had summoned him and the empty rest stop you’d pulled into is now crawling by his cavalry.
“Oh, my God,” Jean tries and fails to find his footing and stumbles backwards into your bike. “Oh, my fuckin’ God,” he turns around and takes you in, eyes filled with fear. “Don’t let him kill me, deputy. Please don’t let him kill me.”
Your voice is steady as you instruct him to get inside, even as your heart is rattling the cage that is your chest. And your body shields the entrance, even if your soul threatens to make its escape. But you won’t let it or yourself get away. And you won’t leave another trail of fire in your wake.
“Wrath,” he calls you, but this sin burns brighter in his words than they ever did in yours. And he hops out of the van in a hurry, already heaving like he’d been chasing you on foot through the Valley. “How many more lives have to go up in flames before you’re satiated?”
“None,” you raise your hands in front of you, adding more distance between the Reaper and the two lives. “Not a single one. I’m done.” Then, you stretch your arms above your head. “I’m done, okay?”
You were far from done, far from having your eyelids ripped open, the furthest you can be from amazing grace. And his big brother would’ve called you blind still, but you needed him to see you as enlightened right now.
What your blind eyes do see is something strange in John Seeds eyes, something which resembled a comforting warmth and not a punishing fire.
“It’s suffocating, isn’t it?” His voice is horse like he’s been shouting, and your throat dries like he is right. You are suffocating. “Your wrath has set the world on fire and you’re the only one left to breathe in the ashes.”
The little air left between the two of you is enough for you to exhale: “Yes.”

Headcannon: All ghosts are slightly eldritch. The more scary a ghost is, the more powerful a ghost is.
Side note: yes, I know this isn't 100% supported in canon. I like it though.
The weaker a ghost is, the less it can be distinguished from what it was when alive. The weakest ghosts have sort of an uncanny valley vibe. Johnny 13may not be human, but when a person sees him, their minds try to fit him into the human mold.
Certain ghosts like Amorpho and Spectra can 'fake' humanity pretty well for a while. But it's not perfect, and so they have to mess with people's senses and emotions to keep the illusion going for very long.
It's also (part of) why people just don't like Vlad or Danny. (I mean, Vlad's hot garbage as well, so that's another reason). Halfas just set off all the uncanny valley vibes in human form. The average human is going to go: Something is Very Wrong when they're confronted by the way their appearances change, just a little, based on emotions or their way-too-white sharp teeth.
It's even worse in ghost form/as a ghost because they're not really supposed to be in our dimension. So then what do we see? Our brains try to piece things together in a way that makes sense to us, but frequently our wires get crossed. Sometimes those wires change position, causing the ghosts to look like they're changing constantly.
When Danny goes through Ghost Puberty, he gets a second, scarier ghost form. He cannot show that second form to a human for very long at one time- low exposure over short periods of time is way better. He has 3- his human form, what people think his ghost looks like (friendly kid), and Eldritch Abomination.
Clockwork, Pandora, and other Ancients can't set foot into our reality for long periods of time, especially around humans, because just their appearance will mess with people.
The reason a lot of (legitimate) ghost hunters go crazy is because they've looked at their targets one too many times.
Even the sounds ghosts make go through the brain filter. Vlad doesn't just use an army of lawyers and PR people for fun- he uses them because even in human form, his voice is 2 steps to the left of human, and the longer people listen, the more theu freak out.
This is the opposite from Ember, as she's basically a land siren. But a deaf/hard of hearing person would have NO idea why their buddy was vibing to a literal fire monster on stage. Her voice adjusts human perception.
Kitty makes you love her- even as you fear the horrible monster, your love grows just as much.
People don't like hearing the pops and cracks in Danny's voice. There's something wrong, like hearing a voice in radio static, or feeling sounds the human ear can't pick up.
Side note on Vlad: Amity Park is one of the only places he COULD have won an election, because Amity Parkers have constant, low-level exposure. This causes them to go: hmm, something might be up with the mayor. Must be a cold. Instead of: our mayor is Something Not Human.
Amity Parkers- in particular the mayor's secretary, the Fenton Family, and Sam & Tucker- have a certain amount of immunity to fear attacks. I think if Jazz goes to Gotham and Scarecrow fear gasses her, he's going to have a Very Bad Night, because Jazz eats breakfast and dinner, and sleeps in a room across from an existential horror every day.
At best, Fear Toxin would put her into fight or flight mode- and this girl takes out ghosts that can level buildings. Crane would be in the ER before his transfer to Arkham.

Surprise, a Fandom that ISN'T One Piece!!!
Super Mario Bros.
I have. So many thoughts. So many AUs. So much swirling in my brain. I've already infodumped on one theory/au to my boyfriend ((thanks, Eggy, ilysm!!)) BUT I am now gonna throw it out here.
Gonna be long so I'll put a cut teehee
Okay so like. In Super Mario Odyssey, there's the Ruined Kingdom, yeah? And like. The whole point for the area is that it's full of echoes of the past, no definitive answers, it's essentially a world, place, nation lost to time completely. And the location on the map is near the Darklands, which is feasibly bear Evershade Valley. I am going somewhere with this, hold on.
Now the Ruined Kingdom is called that because it's name is lost completely and totally to history. The only thing left is the crumbling architecture and the mild vestiges of a land unknown, overrun in game by enemies, with the dragon guarding over the area. There's differing weather phenomena, metal rods, storm motifs all over the area, either newer to the land or leftover from the time Before whatever happened.... happened.
Now I'm gonna pivot here, the Ruined Kingdom is near the Darklands, it's got the storm motifs, and keep all of that in mind.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, we get introduced to the Beanbean Kingdom. The events in game are generally unrelated to this, barring one BIG thing that comes with repeated references in subsequent games for Mario and Luigi both - Firebrand and Thunderhand.
There are two temples, relatively abandoned and no longer worshipped at or in, heralded by two deities, one of Fire, the other of Thunder. Mario and Luigi both go individually to one temple each where they wind up receiving the abilities from the deities there to wield fire and lightning.
These abilities and associations continue on in more games as well.
Mario is associated with fire and flames and heat and warmth and sunlight and energy and ambition and charisma.
Luigi is associated with lightning and thunder and static and chill and darkness and night and lethargy and unconventional bravery in the same ways.
They are complementary forces, cohesive yet different, opposite and balanced, the sun and moon effectively in mortal forms. And celestial motifs with them aren't uncommon in games at all, frankly.
Now let's shift again back to the map.
The darklands is associated with volcanoes, Koopas and Goombas and so on and so forth. It's heat. It's burning. It's ruled by Bowser, with his lava-association, his fire breathing abilities, his spikes and tail and horns and draconian features. The Darklands is fire and brimstone and is near to the Ruined Kingdom. Mario's primary adversary rules and resides there.
Evershade Valley is in close proximity to the Darklands. It is associated with spirits, with darkness, with trickery and night, and it is ruled over by King Boo, a powerful Boo with a magical crown and it has its own lunar motifs and shadowed descriptors. Boos are ghosts, and all ghosts can be fought and defeated by an electronic weapon. Luigi even has a higher impact ability with MORE electricity on hand to fuel the Poltergust. ((Also let it be said that in paranormal research, electricity is often considered a source of power to supernatural beings. Electricity, limestone, running water - and all those could easily be found in the Mansions. Interesting...))
These two areas are ruled by the two main antagonists to the two primary protagonists who have complimentary and equal associations as well as crumb like connections to a forgotten kingdom.
Mario and Luigi btw are both built differently to most, depending on game perspectives. They're human, most likely. They may have smth like achondroplasia ((and I do love this take honestly)), or maybe they're descendants of a different inhuman species and this accounts for their biology. ((Add in that on the wiki, their race isn't homosapien which may be a silly little joke OR could be something else entirely, idk and idc)).
Regardless I really really love the idea that Mario and Luigi are the descendants of the people who lived in the Ruined Kibgdom once upon a time, maybe even from the royal family there itself.
If something went horribly wrong and the kingdom was in danger, if there was a threat they could not stop or a foe they could not face, escaping with their lives would the the best and safest bet.
And with warp pipes everywhere... well. It isn't too much of a stretch for them to scatter, is it?
Or even for some warp pipes to lead to an entirely new world with different nations, nationals, and a certain Italian Heritage....
Anyway yeah. I think Mario and Luigi are from the Ruined Kingdom, I think there's far more to what's left there and it would be so cool to have another game with that setting bc I am OBSESSED

I've been struggling to write much of anything lately so these are very likely to get scrapped in the end, but what the hell.
I've been working on writing Kit's main timeline out in full rather than just shorts because it was feeling disjointed to me. So here we are right from the very opening in the helicopter:
Helicopter blades sliced through the air and her headphones crackled with static. Her seat vibrated into her very bones, turbulence causing the whole craft to shake from time to time. Amidst the roaring din, Kit focused on her breathing, of the slow, methodical in and out, and the rise and fall of her chest. She was referred to as a rookie, but this wasn’t the first time she was expected to land in the middle of the shit, this was a friendly return to form for her, as if eight years hadn’t dragged by since she came back home from Kandahar.
As part of the Hope County Sheriff’s Department she was expected to perform her duty as part of the federal takedown of one of the most powerful cult leaders America had seen since Waco. She’d personally seen the footage of him crush a man’s eyes from his very skull all while touting that he was a religious man who heard the voice of God. It only sunk in just how deep they were as they flew to the compound, into the heart of the cult’s territory. They were utterly alone out here, a few against the many. Legion. She grabbed at the cross pendant on her necklace, running it back and forth against the chain, the quiet buzz she normally found relaxed her was swallowed by the sounds of the helicopter.
Burke, the US Marshal who had dragged them into this, sat across from her. His face was gruff but there was an undeserved smugness to it, like he somehow thought these were all the numbers he'd need to take on an army of half-crazed believers who'd put their faith and their lives in the hands of a man and his siblings. But she knew better. 9mm handguns wouldn’t be enough to quash the hordes. It was like snapping elastic bands at a dragon, all they’d end up doing was pissing them off. But it wasn’t her place to argue or complain, she was given her orders and she’d see them through, for better or for worse.
The mood in the copter was tense, she hadn't felt this sort of tightness in her chest since she'd gone to war twelve years ago. Flying over the grounds that led to Joseph's compound was eye-opening for Kit. She'd never flown over them before. She'd driven the roads, travelled all the way up into the Whitetails and down to the Henbane, but the Valley was where she spent most of her time and being up above it all suddenly made the life she had seem very small, sheltered even.
The massive statue of Joseph put her at unease. Religion had always made people do stupid things. To act out in ways where there was a for and an against and there was always bloodshed. It begged for war. She'd seen it herself, been wrapped up in the middle of it and now here she was facing that same type of enemy again. Someone who thought they knew what an unknowable God could possibly want, someone who claimed to be His messenger. A shiver coursed down her spine, it seemed to be a shared feeling as the other Deputies and Whitehorse all became more skittish at the sight of the Peggie idol.
At the compound, smoke rose up into the air. The already dying light of dusk greyed out even further by the fires scattered as their source of light below. Rows of white houses and sheds surrounded the old weather worn church. It looked like a ghost town from up above, no power, paint peeling from the wood walls, seemingly abandoned. But knowing this was where the Father presided meant all of its appearances were a lie. This was a viper’s nest and they were about to walk right in.
and a little bit from a smut prompt I'm working through too (it's not very spicy yet, fyi):
Prompt: I told you to stay still
The cold metal of the cage bars burned into her flesh as he pushed her back against them, his thigh pressed between her legs spreading them open. A sharp hiss pulled through her gritted teeth.
One hand held on her jaw, the other pinning her wrists above her head. She was immobilized in her cage once more by the Herald of the Whitetails.
He loomed over her, head and shoulders above. His mass blanketed her in shadow, even the flames of the fires along the perimeter couldn't find her.
"Now Deputy, I told ya to stay still. You have no one to blame this on but yourself."
His thumb stroked her full lower lip, fingers brushing through the waves of auburn that framed her face. She stared up at him through her lashes, her heat already pooling between her thighs.
"I thought you liked it when I put up a fight - Sir."
His brow furrowed, his normally stoic exterior breaking for just a moment. His scowl morphing into a smirk.

‘Are you not the Messiah?’
Two convicts are crucified alongside Jesus in the canonical gospels. But only Luke narrates their words: “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” one of the dying criminals mockingly asks. The other convict rebukes him, “for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”
The images here, details from a 15th century painting in the Städel Museum, portray the first convict with a demon at his mouth extracting his soul.
(music: Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Fire at Static Valley")

Workaholic Pt.1
Fandom: Stardew Valley
Sabastian x reader
'I have 3 hours to get down 2 more levels' Your hurried footsteps echoed through the cavern. The heavy thuds ricochet against the damp cave walls and water droplets mixed with the dirt and rock below, making a crunchy and muddy mess of your shoes.
Rocks crumbled under your pickaxe, and overgrown vines were shredded by your scythe. The squeaks of bats and the indescribable sounds of slimes closed in.
Dozens of rocks lay in ruin; precious gems forgotten in corners that seemed to momentarily escape your concentration. The last rock in this damp hell yields nothing. Not a hidden ladder-nor salvageable stone - just ache.
'Damn, a rock crab' the creature scuttled toward you with its tough skinned limbs. The creature-in one swift movement-cut into the flesh of your leg. Blood began to escape the wound.
'No, I'm almost there.' Thirty minutes left; one level until another elevator shaft appears. The energy in your body began to drain, and the rock crab fell lifeless due to your heavy sword.
The bat to your left dove to your head but met your sword. It too fell limp. The slime slowly bounced over to you. You stepped towards the bat's corpse to collect it's wings but the ground below crumbled.
You mentally cursed until a familiar 'ding' filled the cavern. A beautiful diamond-adorned rock twinkled in the dim light of your glowing ring.
Your stopwatch stopped clicking, the silence wad deafening. 12:00 AM. Your bones felt too heavy for you to carry.
The ground behind you crumbled and a growl was heard. Your heart dropped. You hobbled over to the elevator, blood painting the void colored ground beneath you.
A bottle on your hip clanked against a cherry bomb, setting a beeping timer.
You threw the small red explosive behind you and chugged the liquid in the pale red-well used-bottle. The taste was earthy and opulent, spicy and somewhat fruity. The liquid heavily coated your throat and the previous gash on your leg sealed in a white light.
You entered the elevator feeling like time paused as the dust and mud on your body was lifted by the effects of the life elixir. You heard a faint explosion as the elevator traveled upward.
12:10 AM. You ran through the suffocating darkness back to your small cabin. The smell of the mountains calming your nerves.
12:50 AM. You stood outside the door, with the energy from the elixir quickly fading. Taking a deep breath you entered the cabin.
A fire was lit to warm the house. You stumbled past the TV that played a screen over encumbered by static and white noise-glancing for a moment but loosing interest. You dropped your bag of heavy rocks and gems and tools by the bedside. Dust clouded the floor.
You maneuvered yourself under the blankets and glanced over at Sebastian. He cuddled up to your cat, Soup. He stirred in his sleep.
"Hmmn... Babe? It's late." He grumbled.
"I know. I was only in the mines a bit, I stayed in the cleared areas." You said, lying through your teeth. He eyed you.
"See? Not a scratch." Your eyes grew heavy. He rolled over to face you. You cuddled him and closed your eyes.
"You smell like mushrooms..." He said, a tinge of sadness.
"I know." You replied, heart sinking.
"You got hurt again. Didn't you?" He asked.
Your eyed burned. You held back the lump in your throat.
"I'm fine." You tried not to let your voice waver.
"That's not what I asked." He gripped the back of your shirt.
"I know." You said pulling him closer.
Soup hopped off the bed and lay in front of the fireplace.
"I love you."
"I'm sorry."
You both spoke in sync. He looked at your closed eyes that leaked tears. He examined the scrunched expression and how your lips pressed into a thin line. He wasn't mad. He held your face gently and leaned in to kiss you.
"I love you too." You said to him, before he could pepper kisses to your face like he usually does. His heart felt heavy. You both fell asleep after that.

has bruno ever suffered three-days-no-sleep exhaustion? :)
Yes he has, actually! There's been a few moments where he was forced to stay up for a while, and sometimes they were some of the deadliest times of his life! Here's one example from a deployment to an undisclosed territory right before he joined the Task Force.
Gonna tag @ocean-blue-whump, @actress4him, @whump-in-the-moonlight, @thethistlegirl, and @technom0ose for the Bruno whump lmfao
CW: War, explosions, gun fire, death mention, death, exhaustion, hallucinations, military whump
Seventy-eight hours.
It’s been over three days since Bruno could recall truly resting, even if it was in a not well-ventilated tent and on a decrepit cot the Army had left behind for him. This deployment had been a mess since the very beginning, from the intel being off about the number of enemies to their comms being offline during this strategic battle. He’s one of the few officers left on the field and he had to send one of the fastest Lieutenants back to HQ to get more help on the way.
The issue with that was Bruno had sent for reinforcements over thirty hours ago. The chances that the Lieutenant died went higher each hour, and any time he went to see if communications were back online, he was met with static.
They were now pinned at the camp, enemies surrounding them and waiting until they surrender or die. Not like the enemy really cared, but Bruno made sure not to make their loss simple whatsoever. He was going to make them work at his own expense; one of lack of sleep and of rising stress.
His back was against the brick cover offered to him; his breathing now slower as he tried to focus on any noise that could give away the enemy position. He wiped at his face with his dust covered hand in a vain attempt to remove the sweat from stinging his eyes. It didn’t help much since his eyes were dry and bloodshot, both signs of staying awake for far too long, but there was only so much he could do.
He yearned for a moment to lay his head on a half-decent pillow and count sheep instead of mortar blasts that rang in his ears over the last couple of nights. There was something about the night that always beckoned for Bruno to give in, to simply close his eyes and allow for some amount of respite from the harsh reality that was war. The darkness offered something that the light could not; a false sense of safety that caressed a soldier with warmth and empty promises that tomorrow would arrive, only for a bullet to put that soldier to rest.
Closing his eyes for too long could mean death, but the stoic officer hugged his rifle closer to him, digging the back of his head into the brick in the hopes that the pain would give him strength for another few minutes. It was far too quiet, and it didn’t sit well with him, so he peeked over the side of his cover, squinting his eyes and straining when all he could see were blurbs and blurriness.
Maybe he could close his eyes for a few moments…? He allowed for his eyes to flutter shut for what felt like an eternity, relief washing away the hours of-
“AMBUSH AT THE SOUTH WALL!” Bruno’s radio blared loudly, scaring the man awake, scrambling to stand up just in time to see the flickering flare above the camp and the sound of gunfire, explosions, and screams echoing in the valley. He shook his head to get his bearing back and he turned the safety off, sprinting in the direction where the noises only got louder, his heart racing and following the beat of the drums of war.
He made it to the South gates of the camp, and he didn’t falter, gritting his teeth and snarling while aiming his rifle at the enemies, firing away. His bloodlust grew as each body fell to the ground, the urge to protect everyone keeping him standing in the open while shouting, “Don’t fall back!”
It was back at it all over again; his chance of rest went out of the window, and he had to return a bullet spree to his enemies, not caring if his accuracy was marred greatly. The quiet was gone and the darkness turned to a haze of red flares to accentuate the blood spilled from both sides. It never stopped. It never would end.
Death followed him like a plague, and sure enough, he was pinned behind his cover once more, seeing that one of his men needed him to drag him back to safety. That was before the screaming halted suddenly after the next barrage of lead and the sight of the dirt around them turning to mud. Bruno sucked in a deep breath and tears pricked at his eyes. He didn’t have time to mourn the loss, especially if he’s trying to keep the others alive. He would scream to the heavens later.
The adrenaline was pumping inside of Bruno and he heard the static of his radio come on and off until a new voice arrived. “Kilo Squad, this is Blackjack coming online. We are roughly 2 klicks away from your location. Request for air strike?”
Now that… that was a breath of fresh air for him and he called for someone to watch out for him while speaking back in the radio. “Blackjack, this is Captain Stenberg, request for air strike is a go. I repeat, air strike is a go, they are right on top of us. Copy?”
“Wilco. Standby for air support. Dropping in thirty seconds. Use green flare for visibility support.”
Bruno peeked over the edge and saw the fallen troop one last time, and something in him snapped. He shoved his rifle to another soldier. “Keep them off me, NOW!” He roared, unholstering his pistol and jumping over the barricade, sprinting towards the casualty. A heavy blast beside him threw him and made his vision go blurry, but he knew the blob was getting closer.
Without wasting a moment, Bruno fired back in the general direction of the enemy and picked up the fallen soldier in a fireman carry, rushing back to safety as the roaring sound from the skies gave away that an aircraft was coming. “Fire the green flare!” he shouted at the soldier once he made it back, tossing the dead man to the side temporarily, a hand on their chest to keep them safe.
What happened next was both beautiful and terrifying at the same time, the sight of explosions happening all around the camp from the airstrike, leaving behind a streak of fire and destruction behind. Bruno was in awe and the relief made time move so much slower around him, so he didn’t notice the soldier shaking his shoulders. “Sir, we did it! The enemy is falling back!”
Bruno laughed softly and grinned back a bit, proud of his men, both alive and fallen. He looked beside him to see that the soldier he was sure was killed in action laughing and patting Bruno on the shoulder. "That was a close one wasn't it?"
No... he was dead. Bruno was certain of it. Was he dreaming? The blood covering his hands would say no, but what was real? Who did he kill and what was going on? Bruno stood up quickly and stumbled over to where he was first at, his breathing growing more ragged overtime. When he did arrive to the Northern part of the camp, he saw that the whole area had been destroyed. A female soldier walked up to him, a hand on his shoulder. "Sir? How did you know to come to the South gate and attack the enemy first?"
"What do you mean? You guys called me on the radio and told me there was an attack on your end of the wall..." Bruno could feel the gentle tug of gravity pulling him down to the ground, but he held up fast.
"Sir, the radios have been down this whole time until Blackjack came on. Also, you were the one that started the attack... you initiated contact with them and killed them all. Are you okay?"
"N-no... that's not right. There were flares and explosions... I..." The world, however, began to spin and he collapsed, his breathing slowing down. It finally caught up with him and he couldn’t stop himself from shutting his eyes. If he wasn’t going to rest willingly, his body was going to make him, no matter how loudly the woman screamed for him to open his eyes again.

Great news from the Pilgrim's Valley front, when all seemed lost for the lost cohorts and our @vegvasignal allies, Academy military transports descended from the sky. The Academy ships transmitted ID codes and instructed our forces not to fire on any carrying those codes, at first the encircled forces were confused, as they would have no reason to fire on reinforcements.
But it became clear when the ships landed and their troops deployed, the Academy forces were Coyul. The Coyul of the Academy don't have the implants as Strong's Warband, and their weapons and equipment are of Academy design. That, and the ID codes, made differentiating them from the enemy much easier.
After relief was given and the encirclements were broken, we asked why they had Coyul soldiers. It seems that the Academy had found another Coyul warband out among stars and gave them better opportunities than lives as raiders. The Legate-Queens are feeling conflicted, after suffering so many losses to Coyul and yet being rescued by other Coyul too-

Am Tactician, yes yes. Good hack, Engineer. Ack. Red ships rescue bugs and blues, yes. But no take-weaken us. Am think Battle of Long Mountain Valley to gain land-ground? To gain tactical win-advantage? Long Mountain Valley bad lands. All sands. Poor terrain. No no, Battle of Long Mountain Valley just message-warning.
Message-warning simple... Snakes going nowhere... no matter bugs new legion-hive, no matter bugs new weapon-toys, no matter bugs new allies. Coyul here to stay.
Strong no like idea but... As Tactician, making new order. Coyul no longer make offensive-attack. Coyul only defend-keep now. Bug have to be invade-aggressor from now on. That all.
[STATIC]
Did the Coyul hack our comms again? This one is getting frustrated...

It seemed like a good idea at the time
[I wrote this 11 years ago after arriving in North Dakota]
In my dream my mind created the arc of my life, from a wandering path to finally entering flight school, gaining my wings and learning the joy and freedom of being a fighter pilot. Along the way I earned promotions and the respect of my fellow pilots, all the while disdaining any move to a desk job, even with the prospect of a career in the Pentagon and possible 'flag country' status. No, I had always thought, I will always be a fighter pilot and never surrender the ability to make my own decisions.
I had encountered turbulence along the way -- several missions had ended with me limping back to base with holes in my plane and vapours in the fuel tanks, but every time I had been re-fueled and repaired and taken back to the skies. Lately, however, the enemy had gained new technology and new tactics. At first I had relished the challenge, secure in a belief in my skills as a pilot, but increasingly my missions were unsuccessful, yielding low-grade targets and exposing me to more and more hits from the enemy.
Next my mind re-lived my last sortie. I had taken crippling hits to both my wings and fuselage. I had lost altitude and both the altimeter and fuel gauges were issuing their shrill warnings. I had radioed for help but received only static in my headset. I was now flying below the peaks of the surrounding mountains, cork-screwing through the valleys. I was taking fire from a new source - enemy infantry on the ground. Suddenly the pilot's most-dreaded sound filled the cockpit -- the sound of radar-lock by an enemy pilot. In seconds he would fire his missiles and I would be dead. I dropped further down into the valley, hugging the terrain. As I jinked into another valley my engine flamed one last time and quit. I was flying dead-stick. I looked ahead and saw the mountain directly ahead of me. I had flown into a box canyon with no way out.
I reached up and pulled the blast visor down over my face then put both hands on the orange handle between my legs. I did the last thing any pilot ever wants to do. I pulled the eject lever.
The small charges blew the canopy clear then the main set of explosives blew my ejection seat out of the plane. I was so low that I barely cleared the ridge on the side of the mountain. The secondary charges designed to free me from the seat didn't ignite because I was so low. I crashed onto a high butte and tumbled violently along the ground as the parachute trailed behind. After what seemed an eternity I came to a stop. I exhaled, probably for the first time since I had pulled the lever.
After a minute or two of taking a physical inventory of myself, I punched the centre of the harness lock and struggled out of my seat and walked a few steps away before stopping to look around.
I shook my head to clear it and the reverie dissolved as the real world came into focus. I was standing on the train platform in Williston, North Dakota after a three-day ride. I had two bags and a guitar case. All the money to my name was in my pocket.
I was in strange country, I was alone, and I was afraid.
