Timbern Be More Chill AU!

semi thought out plot under the cut

One of the popular guys mentions something about a highly advanced technology from Japan—a Super Quantum Unit Intel Processor. Something that'll get rid of all your problems, make you cool, get you the girl. He'd hook Bernard up with a Squip for just one upfront payment.

Bernard isn't exactly the most popular junior at Louis E. Grieve Memorial High School. Which is fine, all he needs is to get through the next couple years. He does have one problem, however. That is that Darla Aquista, the girl that he's obsessively crushed on for years, hardly notices him.

His best friend, Tim, wasn't all for it. $600 for some pill-sized supercomputer? Definitely a scam... but Bernard had to try.

Bernard, left alone after taking it, was shot with pain throughout his entire body. Once recovered from his writing in agony, a Chaos Monster, a rumoured creature that existed in Gotham, beings that served Dionysus, stood before him. He'd always had a sick fascination with them.

The creature was degrading and snide, spewed hurtful words about Bernard, but he promised a future in which Bernard was 'chill'. One where Darla was practically begging to be with him. And could that really be so bad?

Next thing Tim knew, he was being ignored in the hallways, as his online chat messages were left unanswered. He really needed to figure out what this Squip thing is.

Tim may have access to Bat tech, but he doesn't need Bruce getting involved, so he goes directly to the only other person who could help: Dick.

Dick knew of them. Of course he did. Some friend's friend was driven insane trying to get it out. And apparently all Tim needed to save his friend was Mountain Dew Red. Should be easy enough.

Hey, what if Darla accepted Bernard as her minion when she became Laura…

OK, so some context for this silly AU I just came up with the Minion AU.

Then Darla died and came back as Laura, traumatized and mentally unstable, not knowing if she wants to do good or bad. She looks for Bernard to ask him about Tim and as she gives him her villainy talk, Bernard sees that she is really alone and scared and asks to be her minion.

It brings back to Laura memories of Bernard's superhero nonsense, such a harmless part of her past life that she can't help but say yes.

She gives him an amulet that allows him to use some of her powers so he can keep up and Bernard helps her with her plans as she decides what she wants to do with her powers and her new life.

Bernard helps her to process her feelings about her death (they both have a connection to that, as she died in Bernard's arms).

They both realize that someone is missing from their newly formed group of potential villains.

so both friends decide to find Tim to offer him to join them. (none of them know that he is Robin)

Tim decides join them that he is to try to help them get on the right track.

I thought that since Steph "died", Tim would not want to go back to being Robin for now (in this AU) and decides to go with them to gradually convince them to seek help with the titans and other junior heroes.

Tim would be that tired man holding two children on leashes at the airport. Bernard and Darla are new to powers and heroism/villainy (depends on how Darla is feeling that day) and everything is fresh and entertaining (obviously they deal with trauma too), while Tim, a hardened vigilantism boy sees reflected in them his first moments as Robin.

oh, and now that Tim and Bernard are together more time each day, he starts to have feelings for each other as Darla watches what a mess her friends are. (She quickly gets over her crush on Tim.)

Batman would be horrified that his Robin would turn villainous and try to stop him at all costs while Young Justice cheers on Tim from the stands, knowing he is trying to help his friends.

then the Red Hood comes to town and learns that his replacement chose villainy.

He dares to steal that too! ??

Darla Aquista I am always thinking of you

Recently read Shadowpact. Initially read just for Laura Fell, but I really liked this team. DC Universe only has the first 16 issues, so I’ll have to dig around for the last nine issues (I believe it’s 25 issues long?). Laura is so adorable?? Like she’s so sweet and easy to get along with… without the whole supervillain corrupted heart magic thing, that is. Her characterization in Robin is kinda… ya know. But if I ignore that and focus on Shadowpact, she’s easily one of my favorites.

In this AU Jason doesn’t die in Ethiopia so there never was any reason for Tim to become Robin, his mother still dies during a trip, and his father still fucked up their company making it so he is sent to public school, where he became friends with Darla and Bernard.

Eventually the gang war still happens but this time Darla’s father is the one to die, Darla is left as the only member of the Aquista family and she might hate her father’s business, but she knows the only way to clean Gotham is from the inside.

She asks Tim and Bernard for help, Tim reluctantly accepts to help her start but he decides to stay out of it, because he is not that comfortable with being part of the Gotham mob, sadly for him his father still dies and he now is alone with only Dana as step-mother.

So at the end he decides to fully join and help Darla as her second in command, just so he can protect the family he has left.

Basically in this AU the trio take over the Red Hood position, just with a little less murder and a lot more black mail and manipulation.

I’m just imagining the vindication Ives felt when the picture of Batman carrying Darla reveals that he’s not just an urban legend and wanting to brag to Tim about being right before realizing “oh shit that was his friend” Tim gaslights this poor guy for years and he can’t even tell Tim “I told you so” because Tim is about to start the worst week of his life 😔😔

HELPEFJN LITERALLY now imagine ives meeting bernard who's literally a batman conspiracist and he's just looking at tim like "oh so he can talk about batman but when I do it i'm delusional???"

Bernard headbutts Tim usually in the shoulder or lightly headbutt his forehead 

He knows why he does it he knows why he only does it to very certain people 

he does it because someone used to do it to him

How when ever she was happy or laughing at his dumb jokes she’d headbutt him in the shoulder. How when she knew he was sad or saw he had a few new bruises she’d gently headbutt him in the back while carding her hand through his hair one arm around his chest. How she did it when she wanted to show she cared but knew he didn’t want to be hugged. How when he was overstimulated but needed physical comfort she’d take his hand and gently headbutt it to remind him she was there and he wasn’t alone. How if they randomly saw each other in the hallway she would smash her head into his chest just because she could. How’d she’d headbutt him when she needed a hug and he’d always wrap his arms around her while they held onto what ever jacket he had stole from Tim that day like her life depended on it. How she gently tapped their heads together tears running down her face the first time Bernard ever told her why he had a bruises more times than he didn’t. how she’d headbutt him in the back on his way to his car then demand he go buy her a milkshake at the diner down the block because “duh Bernie they have the best milkshakes in Gotham I won’t settle for any less”. how the only thing that made her smile after she got turned down by the crush she had for most of the year the crush she had spent almost everyday with (the crush that was now Bernard’s boyfriend) was Bernard head butting her in the back while he brushed through her hair to calm her down as she had done countless times to him. how the last time she had ever head butted him was weakly in the chest as she bleed out in his arms.

he knows she’d headbutt him in the chest so hard he’d lose his breath and call him a big loser if she ever found out he does it to Tim now

Tim: I had lots of time to find everything, while waiting for you to show up.

Darla: What can I say? I used to be an early riser, but now I sleep like the dead. Okay, that was bad taste. Lock me up and throw away the key.

Tim: No, it’s fine. It’s just that--I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that you’re alive again.
