Okay okay okay: here’s how I want the sequel to go in terms of Robin:
Bruce does not witness the Graysons’ deaths, he’s not even at the circus that day
Instead, it starts with Batman collecting clues from crime scenes
Another young vigilante is roughing up known mob members
THIS leads him to the circus
He intercepts Dick before he can beat up another guy for information
They have a very long talk and Bruce sees so much of himself in the this angry, vengeful young boy
Batman agrees to help him track down his parents’ killer
He becomes a Dad along the way
There’s a moment of danger after which things get Personal and Emotional
Maybe Bruce rips off his cowl in an attempt to humanize and relate with Dick
Action Climax: Robin has the chance to murder the person responsible for his parents’ death
He chooses not to
Confesses to Bruce that he wants to keep doing this, to protect people, make sure no one else goes through what he did
Bruce’s heart grows 3 sizes and he gains another +1 humanity empathy
Movie ends with him adopting Dick and him moving in.
The lighting in the manor seems a little brighter, a little more hopeful

Broke: Bruce treating Jon like "the boyfriend" (i.e. glaring, the shovel talk, attempts at intimidation)
Woke: Bruce seeing a traumatized young man desperately in love with his youngest son and Batdad mode being activated.
