This has been making the rounds on twitter so I wanted to inform my tumblr followers about it too!

This week (June 14-20) people are encouraged to purchase two books by black authors to try and make the bestseller lists be full of black authors. If you can’t afford to buy any books this week, try and request your local library to purchase some!

While we (booksellers, bookbloggers, authors, etc.) are focusing on this week specifically to boost black authors, make sure to support black authors year round too!

We’re still in #blackoutbestsellerlist week so I invested in the first in this series. It’s been on my tbr list for ages and I’m so happy to finally own it!

2) If you don’t read books - and I will not judge - here are some ways to support this:

- get your Christmas shopping done early, this year, *everyone* learns about racism and how to be a better ally

- if you have kids, nieces, nephews or chosen family with kiddos, buy for them

- it’s the end of the year, give your (kid’s) favorite teacher a book to use in the classroom

- donate a book to your local libraries. they have more books by dead white guys that got us here in the first place. give them a quick call though so they don’t get 100 copies of the Autobiography of Malcolm X. And, they might have a wish list

- don’t forget, your schools have libraries too, and they also suffer from an imbalance of white authors. We may love some Charlotte’s Web, but that’s not doing anything to teach the next generation about racism #dothis

I asked in my stories a while back for your suggestions on how to overcome a reading slump, but I wanted to ask here so everyone can share their tips. 🥰 To say that I’m in a reading slump is probably an understatement. It’s more of a life slump, really.
