Hello, everyone! How are you all today? Did you miss me? 😻🖤

In the last year, I have hurt some good people and I’ve been hurt by some friends I still believe are good people. I have been praised and I have been condemned. I have been forgotten and I have been forgiven. I’ve damned God for how much things have changed. And when things got even worse... I’ve fallen to my knees to pray. I have written a lot about those who have wronged me. The ones that left in the middle of the night. And the way I’ve been damaged ever since. But I have not written enough about those that have saved me. The ones that braved the storm. The ones that have put the light back in my eyes. Got me writing again. And the ones with whom I love sharing a bottle of Jameson. It took what felt like a lifetime to get here, but I am so fucking happy I didn’t give up. Even when it felt like I had every reason to. To be in a room full of people and feel safe.. like I’m finally coming home.. is a nirvana I feared I would never know. I’ve learned a lot about myself through the eyes of those I love. And I am eternally grateful for the grace they’ve extended me while I work through the debris of who I was.. and build a version of myself I think my grandma would be really proud of. I hope you all know how much I’ve needed you. Thank you for finding me. It seems everything happens at exactly the right time. Here’s to us… and never to them.

A little late but I wanted to "say a little something that's long overdue"

MCA aka Adam Yauch died on May 4th 2012.

I remember where I was when I heard the news. I had to leave the room when I was expected to be the most professional, and I gushed to anyone who would listen what this man meant to me.

In a very real sense, he was the heart and conscience of the Beastie Boys. And I think, if anything, he deserves more credit as one of the best lyricists in hip hop history. He’s got this gruff, authoritative voice and really smart lyrics and he was one of the first rappers to talk about more important things than his private parts. A man who could say he was sorry and not feel lessened by it; a man living within the principles of Buddhism and committed to broadening awareness of the political situation in Tibet; and a genuinely quiet person who had become more likely to make a joke at his own expense than anyone else’s. Yauch’s is one of the voices that can signify hip-hop within three syllables—rough, low, and strained. He got a lot done with that voice. I miss him ❤️.
