note: was originally titled “my baby bro” but then i came up with this plot & trashed my original idea bc i felt like i could write this better & actually have motivation to write this :).

Lo’ak is known for getting in trouble. Either his loud mouth or actions, mostly both, got him into scuffles with his parents. This time was no different.

He had bonded with Payakan, a tulkun who was outcasted for something that any other being would do when forced to see their Mother be killed in front of them. In Lo’ak’s eyes, Payakan’s actions were driven by his sadness and were justifiable to a point. He knew how much the creature regretted the lives lost that day. If the same thing were to happen to him, Lo’ak would react the same way.

He felt understood by Payakan. They both had a significant physical difference from the rest of their species, making them feel isolated and alone in the large planet of Pandora. Made them feel judged and ridiculed for being different from the rest.

Not even thirty minutes prior, Lo’ak got chewed out by his Father, scolding him for talking back to the Olo’eyktan and doing something he, yet again, shouldn’t be doing. His Father never failed to make him feel like the black sheep of the family even though they are more alike than he’d hoped. It sucked. It really did. He just wanted people to see him. See all of him, even the messed up and alien parts of him.

One person only came to mind when he thought about people seeing and accepting him for who he is. You.

You were the eldest daughter of the Sully family. The token child. The perfect image of what a Na’vi should look like. The one that carried the burden of being Tsahìk or Olo’eykte one day. The one who, despite all the push back, saw Lo’ak for who he is.

You absolutely adored Lo’ak when you were younger, only being around the age of four when he was born. You refused to let your parents pry him away from your tiny arms when you held him way longer than you should’ve. You loved holding him and talking to him in the baby voice your Father always did to you and your other siblings, gently running a small finger down the flat bridge of his nose. You loved singing him to sleep or rocking him whenever he began to fuss, dropping everything to come and comfort your baby brother. And even though he is all grown up and is ‘too cool’ for your affections, you still give it to him anyway.

Not like the teen boy would ever admit it, but he loves whenever you’d rub his back when he didn’t feel good, rebraid his hair when it outgrew the current braids, hug him a little too long after a scouting mission, and especially when you’d pat the empty side of your mat for him to lay down on, comforting him with your warm embrace as he dozed off into a peaceful slumber. When he was younger, he was much more greedy with your attention and affections, pouting to you whenever you gave Neteyam or Kiri an extra kiss goodnight or fussing when you didn’t say your usual goodbye before heading off to train for the day. Lo’ak was practically attached to your hip throughout his adolescence years, clinging to your leg wherever you went. There was always a different connection you and Lo’ak had compared to your other siblings. It was something special and was hard to explain. You just understood one another, no matter how either of you looked or what you went through.

“What’s wrong, baby bro?” Your voice asked, concern laced in your voice.

Of course you knew what was wrong. You practically heard the whole thing from the other side of the island. It didn’t take long for Tuk to inform you of what happened when you arrived home either, sadness written on her face as she told you the story and how they haven’t seen Lo’ak since then.

You found him minutes after your interaction with Tuktirey. He was sitting on the beach, staring off into the horizon as the waves lazily lapped at his feet, legs brought up to his chest as his chin rested on his scarred knees.

“Nothing,” Lo’ak mumbled, eyes stuck on the eclipsing sun. He refused to look weak in front of others, not wanting to ruin his image as Toruk Makto’s second son, especially if it was someone he looked up to.

You hummed in response, not believing his statement. Lo’ak was unbelievably stubborn, something he got from your Mother. It was a good trait to have at times, but it made it harder to break down the boys walls when they needed breaking. Too stubborn for his own good, you thought, settling yourself next to your brother.

“Sure, and the sky is green,” you replied, smirking at your stupid joke. But Lo’ak only rolled his eyes and huffed your way, bringing his knees closer to his chest.

You always tried to crack a joke or two to make him feel better. It worked at times, usually when he was younger. You hadn’t tried this method in a while, too caught up with running away from your home clan and trying to fit into the Metkayina’s way of life. You hadn’t been able to comfort Lo’ak the past times he got scolded by your Father. Something that you felt sorry for and regretted. You were the eldest Sully child. You felt the need to comfort all of your siblings whenever they needed it. You felt awful for not being there for your youngest brother when he desperately needed it.

“I think what you did back there was stupid,” you started, your words causing Lo’ak’s ears to pin themselves to the sides of his head, “Talking back to the Olo’eyktan was really stupid. Especially in front of the Tsahìk. I mean, she scares the absolute shit out of me.”.

Your words seemed to have an effect on Lo’ak as you heard a small sniffle come from him, signaling that he was going to cry or already was. Your heart dropped at that fact, urging yourself to finish your thoughts.

“But, I think it was also brave,” you add on, turning your head to face Lo’ak, watching his reactions, “I don’t think I could ever do what you did. I’d probably shit my pants before speaking to Tonowari like that. You truly have bigger balls than me, little brother. I also think that it was sick that you bonded with a tulkun. I mean, that’s gotta be like, a record or something! First Omatikaya to ever bond with a tulkun.”.

And before Lo’ak could even utter a word, you wrapped up your thoughts with a final, “Has a nice ring to it: Lo’ak, the Tulkun Rider.”.

Fat tears run down the expanse of Lo’ak’s cheeks, rolling down the skin and onto his neck and chest. He felt so frustrated with his parents and how no one was listening to him about Payakan. How no one cared about what he saw or what he felt when he bonded with the creature. He saw what he saw and felt what he felt. He knew out of any of them the truth about what happened and how much regret Payakan carried around. It wasn’t fair. None of it was.

You gently placed a hand onto your brothers shaking shoulder, bringing him in closer towards your body so he could lean into you. Your four-fingered hand came to grasp his five-fingered hand, thumb rubbing the back of his hand in comfort.

“I’m really sorry that I wasn’t there for you before to comfort you. I should’ve been there for you when you needed me,” you whisper, the hand on his shoulder moving to his head to play with his grown out braids. I’ll have to convince him to let me rebraid them, you thought to yourself, knowing that it won’t take much for him to agree to your request.

“I’m sorry that Dad yelled at you and made you feel the way that you feel. He’s always so harsh on you. It’s not fair,” you added, soothing down his hair as his cries quieted down and softened. “He treats us like soldiers instead of children. He seems to be stuck in his tawtute ways recently,” you continued, shaking your head at the realization.

“For what it’s worth, Lo’ak. I believe you,” you said, causing him to pull away from your figure and to stare up at you in shock.

“You do?” He asked, ears perking back up in interest.

You merely nod, smiling down at your brother, “You’ll have to take me to meet Payakan one day, baby bro.”.

Lo’ak brightly grinned at your words, jumping up to hug you. “You’ll love him, sis! I’ve already told him all about you,” he commented, excitement evident in his voice.

“All good things I hope,” you laugh out, embracing Lo’ak.

Lo’ak only hummed and nodded in response, suddenly tired from all of the crying he did. He reached up a fist to rub his eye, ears flickering back as he did so. You knew he was tired. You could see it all over his face.

“Turn around,” you whispered, gesturing for your brother to turn his body around so his back would be facing you. He obeyed your order, sitting crossed legged as his tail wrapped around his waist and slightly curled at the end, anticipating your next move.

Once you put your fingers in his hair and began to slowly unbraid each braid one by one, a smile creeped onto Lo’ak’s face as he relaxed against your swift and gentle fingers. He missed the times where you would willingly rebraid his hair for him and put beads in his hair that matched the ones in yours. It was nice to have you do something that comforted him when he was child again. It was nice to have you comfort him. It was nice to have you as an older sister.

As time passed and the sky got darker, Neytiri had begun to look for her two missing children, stumbling upon them on the shoreline seated next to each other as they whispered and giggled amongst one another. The Mother of five smiled at the sight before her, heart swelling at the interaction. She knew of the kind of connection you shared, knowing that it ran deep and beyond her understanding as a Mother. She knew that no matter what, you’ll always have each other. Yeah, she thought, he’ll be just fine.

Sun analysis !!

had some thoughts after i read this tsams confessions post about Sun and how it doesn't feel like he has bonded with his family outside of Moon. you should probably read that first bc i'll be quoting it.

so here's a bit of a (completely lowercase) rant on some of the (in-universe) reasons why i think that might be

'-seeing your entire family grieving over someone [solar] who didn't really give the same amount of love to you as they did to them'

yet sun still acted extremely upset after solar died, which is understandable, but i think has deeper meaning than just 'oh he's sad because he was close to solar (he wasn't) and then watched him die'

it could be an extension of the grieving he never got to do after old moon and lunar died

acting more distraught than he really is makes him fit in more with the rest of his family, who all were close to solar and are deeply affected

he did watch solar die so, that does contribute

not to say he wasn't upset about solar dying! or shouldn't be! it's just that he didn't really...know solar. or talk to him. they never once connected. so why would he be as upset as he is?

'How Sun just leaves, and Lunar, Earth, and Monty go off to grieve without him.'

i think this comes from how him and old moon never talked about their problems. if they felt bad, they had to suck it up and deal with it alone-- after all, you wouldn't want to burden your already stressed out brother with your insignificant problems!

sun and old moon followed that pattern for long enough that it's nature to sun now: he can't be emotional around his siblings, he's not supposed to. it's why he leaves once earth and lunar are going off to properly grief.

'When he speaks to them, he doesn't know what to say or how to respond most of the time. It sometimes sounds like he is talking to a complete stranger.'

sun and old moon were tremendously codependent. they were so close. concerningly so. sometimes, it felt as if they had zero connections outside of each other:

they spent the first years of their life in the same body, together 24/7. after that, they still live and work in the same place, once again being together 24/7. at the start of the show, it seems as if moon doesn't talk to anyone outside of sun, and that sun rarely talked to anyone else; monty and roxy, sure, but they're relationships with sun weren't great, either.

even once lunar rolled around, sun and old moon only believed they could truly trust each other. they were each other's purpose.

sun will never have that amount of a bond, or those intimate of experiences, with anyone else. sun only talked to old moon for so. long. how can he learn to talk to anyone else, if they're not him?

'-said he’s in the best mental state he’s been in a while, but sitting alone in your house just seems extremely lonely.'

old moon would get annoyed with sun easily. sun was anxious and felt the need to check up on moon a lot, make sure he wasn't doing anything that hurt him-- but moon never liked it. he got snappish.

sun and old moon's conversations went better when old moon initiated them.

sun is too afraid to try initiating affection with his siblings anymore. after all, what if they get annoyed? they have real things they're dealing with, what if he's just bothering them? not just with his problems, but with wanting to talk at all?

why even try if it'll probably end up bad anyway?

i understand why traveler is still friends with childe even though he’s fatui and why traveler doesn’t trust lyney and lynette so here’s my rant about it + some speculation about what is to come:

in liyue’s archon quest both the traveler and childe are used to set the stage for morax’s death and felt fooled by the contract signora and zhongli had in place. (reason i personally don’t like or trust zhongli) that mutual feeling of being used neutralized a lot animosity that came out of childe’s actions imo. because yeah he was trying to destroy liyue but he also had done it while being heavily influenced.

and childe never considers the traveler as an enemy. he saves them at the beginning of the quest, helps them reach the adepti (though with ulterior motives), and considers them a friend after his boss fight.

his story quest shows him as just a guy which really helps to soothe the rest of the one-sided tension and dislike the traveler has for him. teucer was the brownie points of his quest that showed his familial love and really turned the relationship into a friendship. traveler knows by the end that childe likes his family and fighting, and while he serves the tsaritsa he values those two things a lot.

he sort of just wedges his way into the traveler’s heart by being a himbo honestly and doesn’t really give them a choice but to be friends with him.

with lyney and lynette, it felt almost intentional that they were at the port (just speculating bc they knew who the traveler was before hand so it’s possible they received information and instruction). and while i do think they were genuine with their interactions i think traveler knows that the bonds can and will be manipulated by arlecchino, because the other harbingers are nothing like childe.

the other harbingers have been cutthroat and are trying to destroy nations of their own machinations and not by being manipulated (save for scaramouche).

so traveler kind of cutting ties with lyney and lynette seems to be preventative as well as not trusting their intentions which is smart and learned behavior.

and there is the matter that they didn’t disclose that they were from the fatui in the first place. though i do understand them in this situation because when are you supposed to say “hey i’m actually from an orphanage run by the fatui” BUT they should have disclosed investigating the justice machine from the beginning. which then lying about that just seems to make the whole omitting fatui part worse i think.

of course after the gnosis is gone or falls into the fatui’s hands (which has been inevitable thus far) the traveler may choose to try being friends with the siblings but as of right now the traveler understands that they are a potential and likely threat.

i am curious to see how the gnosis will be handled in the upcoming archon quest though, since we know arlecchino’s plan is to use the power herself to fix fontaine and then hand it over to the tsaritsa.

players have speculated that celestia might be bad, but i don’t think in-game traveler has connected those dots yet as to why archons seem to hand over their gnoses so casually. because arlecchino’s goal is to save fontaine (well according to lyney anyways) and it doesn’t sound bad but who knows.

and of course dansleif should come to fontaine as well and maybe we’ll getmore lore, a divine nail, and maybe answers for why celestia is moving closer to teyvat.

idk just felt very passionate about this and have seen a lot of stuff float around on the subject so i’m putting in my two cents. feel free to chat about it with me !

notes: this is just a fic with no plot in mind 😭 for a req in wattpad!! but posting it here first bc in comfortable with tumblr than wattpad. literally just random talking idk 😞

why is anri teieri fuming and complaining to you about you older brother? well you certainly understand her aggressiveness towards him. ego jinpachi is definitely not the person you would go to for advices.

"that guy, he put a bunch of mayonnaise on the dish i made for him to eat healthy! who does he think he is? i just wanted him to eat healthy for once instead of him eating those bundle of instant noodle! the nerve of this guy."

"see? this is why you should never care about my brother. he can die for all i care."

"uhh.. is this really the two of you relationship?"

"huh? no."

anri is glad that you are here helping the blue lock program even though you said that you wanted to do it so you could sponsor one of the players here. atleast she won't be lonely most of the time especially when dealing with ego obnoxious behavior. you had been a great help on the program.

"why are you looking at me like that?"

"you've become rude."

"huh. i think you should start looking at a mirror, bowl-cut."

your relationship with ego is not that strained (in your perspective) but this is a chances for you to become closer with him in this blue lock program. ego had always been absent in your life because of his stupid career before the blue lock happened.

while inspecting the other players match, you could heard him slurping his noodles up like he hasn't eaten for days. "stop making noises while eating." you voiced your complain.

"it's not even bothering you to inspect the players."

"it does."

"who is the player you're going to sponsor?"

ego didn't bother to change the way he is eating and ask you the question you have been waiting for him to ask. anri is in the room too so she stop the thing she was doing so she could hear your answer. pondering for a moment on who you want to sponsor.

"hmm... maybe chigiri hyoma?"

"are you doing this because of his beauty or his talent."

feeling exposed, you just hum at the words ego just said but there was another reason. if chigiri hyoma is injured again, the sponsor money will be going towards his treatment but you did stated to ego that you will not be choosing only one player to sponsor but three of them. chigiri hyoma was one of them.

"[name], how do you think miracles work?"

"don't ask me about this shit. i don't care about it."

"then what do you care about? fate?"

"the topic of this discussion is not my thing. stop asking me about it, jin. we don't know what's our fate in this world."

"are you sure about it?"

you ignored his last question, you didn't want to answer his stupid question about fate and miracles. if this is how he want to bond over for siblings then you don't want to be in it. anri feels the tension in the room after the conversation and got chills over it. you said that you two relationship isn't strained but why does anri doesn't feel it?

even if anri ask you about it, you will probably talk in riddles about you and ego's sibling relationship. you will never give straight answer.

♡ Rhaenyra, who at her core, tends to feel isolated in Kings Landing after her friendship with Alicent fell apart. She's alone, more alone than she's used to being, and she just feels lonely. This loneliness is what leads her to developing a type of bond with the quiet nanny of her little brother. Alicent holds Aegon when it's necessary or when her postpartum isn't slowly killing her, so Aegon is mostly seen with this one nanny.

♤ Despite what others would imagine, Rhaenyra loved her brother. He's her family, and Rhaenyra doesn't have much of that left in the Red Keep. She likes to visit Aegon in her free time to spend some personal time with him (when he's not in the presence of Alicent). Rhaenyra acknowledges that it feels good to hear Aegon's happy toddler gurgles when he sees her enter the room.

♡ These meetings with her little brother are where she gets to know Aegon's personal nanny. Many children had several, but Aegon gut fussy with the others, so it was just her darling who tended to Aegon. They're friendly with Rhaenyra, happily telling her of Aegon's few words that he's learned and how he just loved when she came to visit.

♤ Rhaenyra develops a sort of dependence on this nanny for comfort after her marriage to Laenor. She loves him, in the platonic sense, but it's hard to be in a marriage when you feel so unwanted. Rhaenyra finds love with Ser Harwin Strong. However, she panics when she realizes that she's found herself pregnant. She confides in her darling, who she now considers a close confidant and friend, about her fears of giving birth. They're there when Jace is born, and they move from serving Queen Alicent to serving Princess Rhaenyra in no time.

♡ Rhaenyra, after the death of Harwin, finds a different type of comfort in her darling. Just the thought of her darling tending to her newborn Joffrey makes Rhaenyra's heart swell. She's found that she's a little more interested in the nanny than she should be, but Rhaenyra has never abided by the traditions of Westeros. She wants to hold their hand like a husband would with his lady wife, and Rhaenyra knows that her feelings for her darling are no longer strictly platonic.

♤ She may have been able to get away with having three illegitimate children, but Rhaenyra knows she can't be as open with her darling as she'd like. Alicent is pious and wouldn't let that slide. So, she uses her marriage to Daemon as a sort of cover for her relationship with her darling. It's objectively a wrong thing to do, but Rhaenyra has never been the most morally pure person in Westeros.

♡ Rhaenyra is sort of devious in her attempt to bring her darling into her bed, too. They're loyal and sweet, even when Rhaenyra has ripped them from Kings Landing all the way to Dragonstone, away from the only life that they had known. They love Rhaenyra. They devote themselves to her service wholeheartedly. However, she knows that this doesn't mean that they'll immediately jump into being her lover.

♤ At the end of the day, though, they don't really have a choice. Rhaenyra has had many years of suffering, and she feels entitled to the happiness she knows she'll get from sharing intimacy with her darling. She wants to kiss them softly and run her hands down their soft body. All she needs is their cooperation. Rhaenyra, who has all the control in her marriage, sends Daemon to another part of Westeros just so she can shimmy her darling into their shared bedroom.

♡ She just loves them so much, and Rhaenyra has always been a sexual being. The nights she spent wishing she was bedding her sweet and soft darling instead of her uncle-husband were uncountable. Rhaenyra wanted them so badly, and although she feels bad about the manipulation she has to use to them into her bed, it's all worth it once she has them there.

♤ Rhaenyra is a dedicated lover, and Daemon often finds himself away from Dragonstone more than he'd like...

Apollo doesn't like Phoenix and might straight up hate his ass send tweet.

At the start of aa4 Apollo tolerates this man at best. I don't necessarily defer to aa5 and aa6 canon bc the new writers came in and decided to wreck the place (yes there are things I like about them, no I do not think they are so horrible that I will never play them or that no one should ever play them, yes I am very upset they took everything aa4 set up and threw it out the window), however I do believe that Apollo could grow to understand what happened and become work friendly. This is ONLY if Phoenix apologizes well and actually walks him through it, but they both have 'I don't talk about myself or my feelings' disease so... Good luck. Oh, and if Phoenix actually did wait that long to tell him and Trucy they were siblings idk if their relationship could ever be repaired. Also I said work friendly bc let's be honest, the only reason he likes Trucy (and Athena if you're forcing me) is bc they are so outgoing they make up for his chronically introverted persona. (Of course after a certain point he's been through it with both of them and that creates a bond, but they wouldn't have gone through it together if Apollo was the one in charge of that.)

That being said I don't think he wants anything bad to happen to Phoenix. We see pretty quickly that Apollo is actually very sensitive to what is happening to other people. For example: when Trucy fake kidnaps herself he is whole ass bawling even though he pretty much doesn't know her. Not just an, oh man, this is awful, he is feeling and living and expressing those emotions with his whole self. Other example: He feels soooo bad that these people in Klavier's life suck. He devotes himself to 'pulling the darkness' out of a guy that by all accounts he doesn't really know or personally like (I think we have evidence that Apollo respects Klavier's ethics, even if his personality is a little glimmerous.) So I think if anything happened to Phoenix or it seemed like something was going to happen to him, Apollo would do everything he could about it. That doesn't mean he likes the guy.

And like, I work retail. I work with a ton of people that in any other situation I would never speak to, and yet I can still get excited for them and strike up in depth conversations with them while still going home and thinking 'Wow, that lady sucks'. Apollo is not going to be openly hostile or anything, he's just not going to give a whole lot in terms of a personal relationship.

Also I think Phoenix genuinely likes Apollo and I think he knows he likes Apollo a lot more than Apollo likes him. I think this would make him sad but he wouldn't try to force anything. And I think Phoenix genuinely feels bad and if there had been any other way forward he would have taken it but there wasn't and he didn't and he has accepted that this is part of the consequences of that.

my biological peer reviewer (sibling) called this theory “fun” and said i should send it, so here goes

my personal theory is the feds ((”federation”)) created the eggs because they decided the best way to enforce “you can never leave” was to give the people something they couldn’t lose, like in the post by tumblr user alexaloraetheris (no relation to the smp) where their friend who might be a deity had said,

"When you die you descend to the underworld with nothing to lose. To keep you, they give you something to lose. When you want to return, they will demand it back. That's why nobody ever leaves. The only way out is to never enter."

i’m thinkin that on egg D-Day, at the end of the countdown, the feds weren’t gonna give the eggs back. they were just gonna hide them forever, or do something else, anything else, just keep them away from their surrogate parents, because then the people would just be STUCK, because people could theoretically take their eggs and leave, but if the eggs are missing, gone without a trace, then the residents CAN’T LEAVE, because presumably the eggs are STILL THERE, SOMEWHERE, IN NEED OF HELP AND RESCUE, if only the residents could find them ON THE ISLAND. if they leave the island while the eggs are missing, they are abandoning these things that have become their children.

but then in came the brazilians. and shit went south. because see, the spenglish (spanish / english) streamers were INVITED, but the brazilians CRASHED; the feds didn’t INVITE THEM, they weren’t EXPECTING THEM, but they can’t let these guys leave either, so they PANIC, and they scramble to give the brazilians the same thing--something to lose. the new egg had a brazilian jersey, homie was TAILOR MADE for them to pack bond with. the feds didn’t have time to send out multiple eggs, it was all or nothing, so they picked something they could reasonably assume all five of them would find endearing because they don’t know shit about these guys--they had a week to observe the OG batch, but all they know about these newbies is the brazilian flag on their boat--and so they sent the little egg out to become THEIR THING, the thing they couldn’t afford to lose.

it leaves open why the eggs are cracked too, bc idk what’s going on there lol, either 1: the eggs cracked because they’re hatching and the feds picked that date bc they wanted to yoink the eggs before they got Too Powerful, or 2: the feds were the ones to crack the eggs as an excuse for why they vanished--returning the eggs untouched would open too many questions the feds don’t want them asking; this way, instead of being concerned specifically with “why were the eggs missing”, the residents presume they know the answer--the cracks.

but yea i’m just gonna add as an aside that personally i think cucurucho / osito bimbo / the white fucker is way more active again because the feds are still scrambling to keep up with the brazilians (which, again, the feds weren’t expecting), and the binary fuckwad came in to put the fear of god into the newbies--maybe so they didn’t get too focused on the morse code transmissions; iirc max was theorizing that both osito and binary were part of the federation ? and if so it does make sense that the binary entity went to fuck with cellbit immediately after cellbit was introduced to the conspiracies of the island, yknow, a warning shot. i think they want them to be focused on the eggs.

Exactly! We need to look at this from both perspectives, we can have our girlboss rhaenyra thoughts but we must also except that by westerosi customs set up by the great council of 101 ac Rhaenyra shouldn't be heir. Even Rhaenyra herself seems to still want to follow male premageniture. She says that Baela and Jace's SONS would succeed them on the throne, sons not children.

I think Rhaenyra should be Queen, not bc Viserys named her heir but also due to the fact that Aegon doesn't want it at all. I also think Rhaenyra would've been a great Queen if the Dance hadn't happened. She was stubborn but not obnoxiously like when she was a child, she also has a nurturing quality that she developed with motherhood which would come in clutch when you have two Lords fighting bc you've already had experience breaking up your kids fighting, she's also strong enough that she wouldn't let anyone walk over her but not in a way that she would make them feel inferior.

However, Aegon us technically the rightful heir due to the sexist (but normal in westeros) culture. He doesn't even want it. In the book Aegon is literally quoted as saying he doesn't want it, he only ends up taking it after ser criston convinced him that Rhaenyra would kill his family. And before anyone says anything, Rhaenyra never made any attempt at bonding with her half siblings, she only referred to helaena as her sister instead of half sister and I honestly truly believe that it's bc she doesn't see helaena as a threat to the throne. i am just thinking about. this song. and like living it through dating ari basically.

maybe reader and ari have been dating for a while. and ari has come to understand the circumstances of her family life and how her childhood was. he is treating her different in every way from the abuse she endured and little by little she’s learning to love and trust with a safe partner that would never be so cruel and heartless to her.

she maintains a relationship with her family (her parents mainly) bc it’s the easiest way to keep the peace. ari supports her in this and knows it’s a complex decision to make. he would never want her to feel forced to cut them off by him, as he believes everything should be in her control and what she’s comfortable with. he knows trauma bonds can be complicated and that even though they’ve been horrible to her, reader does love them in the ways she’s learned to.

maybe there are minor conflicts or hiccups as time goes on but reader is mostly so distanced from them that she can just take space where she needs it and nothing ever becomes too much.

until a family gathering one evening when things end up finally going too far.

ari’s along with reader to visit her parents’ house, maybe her siblings are there as well and they’re all talking over dinner. the small talk is easy enough to navigate most of the time so it starts out civil and almost pleasant. but maybe reader’s father eventually starts going down a mean road, starting to pick on reader and criticize her, embarrassing her even.

ari’s face is stiffening as everyone but the two of them laugh. reader’s right next to him, her head hanging low in humiliation. he hates seeing how they treat her and how she sort of collapses into herself, not wanting to draw any more attention by calling out the harassment or defending herself. images flash in his head of pictures he’s seen of her when she was a little girl, so helpless against her abusers. it makes his blood boil to know she must be feeling so small still inside, so defenseless.

ari tries to shoot her father a look but maybe that only encourages him further and he says some really horrible, nasty things. aiming at her biggest insecurities, the places he knows will hurt most. as her father, he has the unfortunate privilege of knowing exactly how to break her down. and after one particularly despicable jab, ari’s had it.

his silverware rattles sharply against the table as it’s dropped. he rises to his feet and pushes his chair back out behind him with his legs. “that’s enough.”

reader is now looking up at her boyfriend with the biggest eyes, shocked and a little terrified; she’s never seen anyone stand up to her father before

the room is silent. no one knows what to do or say, not even reader’s loud-mouthed father himself

after a few moments the older man clears his throat and replies darkly, “excuse you, son?”

(but like let’s be real ari is bigger and stronger and just overall more beefy than him like if they were to fight… that would be really stupid on the old man’s part to accept such a challenge lol)

“i said, that’s enough. i won’t let you speak to her that way, not for another minute. how dare you? she drives halfway across the state twice a month to see you and keep the peace in the family, and this is what she gets? you don’t deserve her. and you won’t speak to her that way anymore; do you understand me?”

ari’s reaching down and taking her hand softly, his piercing gaze not leaving the man across the table for even a second. maybe the father curses and decides to stand up as well, starting off on some piss poor response, “you’re awfully bold, you son of a bitch. why i outta-” maybe he even makes the mistake of raising a hand at ari, and that’s when the devil really goes off in his eyes.

“i wouldn’t do that, if i were you,” he speaks so lowly, barely above a whisper but the room is dead silent so everyone can hear him. then he turns to reader, his voice much softer as he says, “c’mon, honey. we’re going home”

they walk out together, and no one dares to follow after them. when they reach the car at the end of the drive, ari pauses to hold reader’s hands in his own as he stands with just a few feet between them. it’s dark out but they can just make out the outlines of each other’s faces. reader’s eyes are full of tears. ari cups her cheeks and whispers through tears of his own, “i love you. i will never let them hurt you again.”

there’s a long way to go. i don’t believe that time would change your mind. in other words i know they won’t hurt you anymore as long as you can let them go.

you can let it go. you can throw a party full of everyone you know. you can start a family who will always show you love. you don’t have to be sorry, no.

•after school they hung out at darrys place since tims parents argue quite a bit and they worked on the project but eventually they started bonding over their siblings and it snowballed

•they did have friends and they did have a gang of friends but like they were “only school” friends, like they wouldnt rlly hang out outside of school if that makes ANY lick of sense

relationship:

•it actually went pretty well, they have pretty similar lives but they both have a different way of handling it so i think theyd connect on some level
