#madness combat#madcom oc#my oc#atp soldat#the soldat in the dark (tm) actually cares about his bro#a lot#but he just can't get sad when he warned him about this shit nonstop#no id#The bitten guy just acts too friendly because his program made him too altruistuc and kind#Which sometimes helps since he is one who recruits workers#Well#Probably it's more benefitial most of the time#But he gets in shit like “oh i just wanted to help civilian get out from dangerous location and they stabbed me :(((”#And he ain't bullied for it by anyone but his bro. He is too... Kinda. Uh. Hard to bully guy who is most safest option to talk with auditor#And not die lol. It also doesn't help that he is guy who knows all of the AAHW by names and will kick you hard for bullying anyone#So bullying him is a privilege of some atp soldats#not an option :D#Other soldat here is just walking anger issues and he got no friends other than his bro. Constantly lashes at anyone. The Bitten™ included#So they're got that dynamic of angry antisocial cynical guy and pessimist & optimistic kind dude (well#(well he got a lot of mental issues too#But doesn't show it and never let it hurt others.)#And he is much older than the pessimist :'D#Pessimist guy is very young actually. But just experienced shit nonstop from birthday and lost very much everyone he cared about#And the second one... just atp soldat with no past. never known any other thing than work in AAHW and orders. Easy to manipulate#He also gets “You're not a real person” a lot for it. And constanly offended by it. But it's a problem of all yellow bloods here#Especially him#since he litterally didn't had a life outside from aahw. Also don't think he wouldn't kick his friends hard for orders.#Kill even. He is a dog for orders first#Kind guy with good morals is only second

How would a female hero of courage interact with the chain?
Well- this is certainly a new type of Reader! I know I try to keep Reader as gender neutral as possible so this kinda defeats the purpose... but just once won’t hurt anyone. Consider it done anon!
It'll be in headcanon form. I hope that's ok.
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
Twilight
Weak
Drinks his respect women juice every morning like Uli taught him
And Ilia wouldn’t hear any complaints of it as they grew up
Midna made sure he kept up with his routine
And Zelda was the final nail on the coffin
Can’t say no to whatever she requests
Wild teases him a lot
And by teases, I mean secretly complains
“You let her get away it!”
“Yeah Cub, because I know she wouldn’t hesitate to throw me over her shoulder and call it a day. I’m not getting in her way.”
Doesn’t pay too much attention to it
Frankly, care less about that and more about her age
If she’s younger, she’s getting the same treatment as the rest of the youngins
If she’s older, then the more power to her
She can get away with much more
He’s soft
While others may forget, he tries to keep in mind her need for privacy and space from the boys
Especially since she’s the only girl
On her team, 98% of the time
Warrior
Oh no another one
It’s Linkle all over again
Or so he thinks
Protective to a fault, poor guy
But he’s just Like That TM
Reader would gather really quickly it’s because he cares and not because of anything else
He does the same to Wind and Twilight and Legend and even Time
Warrior is used to female fighters so this isn’t anything for him to blink at
Have you seen his game? It’s like three males total- him included, villains not included
How much do you want to bet that Warrior also knows someone from Reader’s adventure?
You know.... for flavor :D
Warrior is quick to make them feel a part of the team and respected
Warrior is the first one to ask for their opinion on matters and Reader always comes up with a point he (and others) were missing
“Thanks Girlie. I knew you were brought with us for a reason. Glad to know that you’re on our side.”
Big Brother Warrior adopts another one. A Saga
Legend
Is not above sacrificing her to do the work so that he can get out of it
Challenges her at nearly every turn
Even more so than Warrior
And it’s not because she’s female
It’s just that it’s activating his sibling behavior with a vengeance and he’s going to make it her problem
Reader found him annoying, pessimistic, dramatic and hard to get along with
It was like cats and dogs
Even if Legend actually likes her
However Reader gets talked down to in public and Legend goes off
Completely tearing the offender to shreds with his words alone- although he’s tempted to do so physically as well
Reader doesn’t think he’s so bad after that
They judge people outfits together, you honor
They are each other’s ride or die
Legend gets to the point where she’s the only one he listens to without question
The Chain try and get her to talk to Legend when they’re trying to prank him
Reader agrees more than half of the time
Hyrule
A bit of a lost cause...
Has no idea how to approach this
Hella awkward- poor guy
Ignores it on principle
Treats her like one of the guys, only be reminded that she’s not a guy
It’s like a slap in the face every time- he tries so hard to just be normal
Give him a break he’s not used to people as it is
At least the people he’s met so far are nice and she’s nice and different from any of them
Doesn’t want to treat her like glass
Doesn’t want to be too overbearing in a group full of guys
Doesn’t want to treat her as an outcast
Doesn’t want to intrude on her personal space
Is he over thinking it? Oh yeah defiantly
Another hero that means well but is in uncharted territory
However, he’s never been afraid of uncharted territory before and this is no different
He’ll figure it out
Just give him some time
Wind
Big sister?
Someone as cool and kick butt as Tetra?
But like him? With the courage and the whole... not being like the others for whatever reason?
Admiration and following like a puppy
He looks up to the older heroes and obviously tries to emulate them
But something about her hits different
And he wants to do the same
It’s a shame he doesn’t know what it is
Wind is going to talk her ear off
(I hope she has the patients for him XD)
As he can see that Reader is older, he wants to ask questions about his sister, like why girls do x? Or y? Or z?
You know, things that they have in common but for the life of him, he doesn’t know why
So he might as well ask right?
Besides, if he asked Aryll, she might give him a half answer or not even know herself
But Reader should know, he trusts Reader’s judgment
Tries to wrestle her
A lot
Loses
Wild
Younger sister?
Hello? My old heart? How have you been?
He’s going to project so much
He means well by the end of the day and frankly it doesn’t matter if this hero is older than him
He has vague memories of a younger sister and it’s going to eat him alliiivvee
Gives her the best portions of food obviously and naturally serves her first
Will want to go horse back riding with her whether she knows how to or not
He can teach her! He can do archery with her! And sword fighting and shield surfing and cooking and and and and-
So long as his weapons and equipment don’t break on him anyway
He’s going to badger her about keeping her hair in decent condition and offering to braid it or brush it or just put it up for her
Who cares if he still has twigs and junk in his hair? That’s not his point
Is he a hypocrite? ... Just a bit
Might show off from time to time by taking wild animals momentarily just so she can pet them
Cut to Wild riding into camp on a bear
“Sissy! Look what I found!”
“Cub! Put him back!” Said literally everyone in the group.
“He’ll go back home on his own soon enough. I gave him honey glazed salmon as a treat. He’s so soft. Come see!”
Four
Well he just found his new best friend
Second to Zelda, of course
Is the one to ask for help with pranking people (mostly Legend)
Together, they nearly get away with it every time
Does she know blacksmithing? Is that a thing they teach the girls where she’s from?
It’s likely that she doesn’t
Oh well! Four is just going to have to make sure she’s taken care of
Very protective of her
Is going to get in her way multiple times
But in an accidentally on purpose sort of way
He gets stomped on, trampled and run over more times than he wishes to admit
He knows she can take care of herself, she’s just as much of a hero as all of them are
But Four sees her and sees Zelda and he gets this urge to keep her away from danger at all costs
It’s annoying
But they laugh and poke fun and he tries to tackle her for the hell of it and never succeeds
He means well, but that’s a conversation about to happen
It’s somewhere on the horizon
Time
Oh thank god, someone who knows what they’re doing
Do they?
Who knows. But Time is going to use their ability to wrangle the boys to his advantage because honestly?
It’s like herding cats otherwise
Or cuccos- at least he has experience with that
Doesn’t think too much of it
Also takes to her on the spot
The change of energy is nice but he’s to reassure her when the case may be
Like when the boys are a bit much or when they’re teasing her
Time says near the beginning of the trip that if they bug her too much to tell him and he’ll set them straight
Not to say that she can’t do it herself but honestly- why should she have to?
Clearly she’s been through enough as it is
They both spend quiet time together
May have fallen asleep on each other at some point
Denies it but also has a picture hidden somewhere in his belongs
No one knows who he stole it from because at least three of them have a copy
And yet he never approached them for it
The mysteries add on with The Old Man
Sky
Literally no different
This guy could not care less
Forgets half of the time
It’s not something he would pay attention to
Has to be genuinely reminded at least once
He’s used to being the “mom friend” so if they help out in that regard Sky is going to give them brownie points
Because these boys don’t care about those things and Sky is tired of having to remind people to chew with their mouth closed-
Help him
He can’t do this alone
Has to be prepared for all things all the time
If Reader could just lighten the load a little bit he would be eternally grateful
He would tell her story for years to come
Granted, he was going to talk about his friends anyway but this one takes special precedence
Is the one she vents to without a second thought
If she can help carry his role in the group than he can be there as her support as well
There’s no difference between the lives of heroes
It’s hard on everyone

Kimitomo? :D
Tumblr media
@exhaustedwriterartist Answering both of you simultaneously, since Kimitomo and Koa kinda go hand-in-hand.
Be warned that there's some violence in their backstories. I won't go into detail, but it'll be mentioned.
First off. Kimitomo. My big bundle of trauma and unhinged behavior.
Kimitomo is an ex-assassin who used to belong to this notorious clan until he was about 16. When he was about 3-4, the clan invaded his village, killed everyone older than six, and took whoever was left to be integrated into their clan. Kimitomo hardly remembers his parents, but his subconscious is very traumatized.
All of these children were quite literally brainwashed to be the perfect assassins. Kimitomo in particular was among the best at his age, so he and a couple others were chosen to be experimented on to see if their physical capabilities could be enhanced. The other two died during the tests, but Kimitomo survived and was successfully enhanced.
He's quicker and has better instincts than the average human being, and he also has SUPER sensitive senses. He smells, hears, and tastes everything, and he has incredibly sharp eyes. His sense of touch is also boosted, and it kinda gives him like a sixth sense. He can sense movement from within a certain radius of him.
However, he ended up having to sacrifice a great deal of his physical strength. He's very weak, and can't take much damage at all. Defeating him isn't much of a challenge, if you can actually manage to hit him. 😭
He lived as a mindless, highly skilled assassin for years. It wasn't until he was 16 that he finally managed to break out of the brainwashing that was given him. He had been given a job where he was meant to kill off a small, wealthy family and bring a certain artifact back to the clan. He managed to kill the father, but the children's terror broke through the barrier over his kind and threw him back to his own parents' deaths. He broke out of the brainwashing enough to let the mother and the children live and abandon the job.
After that, he ran and plotted a way to take out his clan. He succeeded, killing off all of the older members of the clan. However, he spared the children and helped them to shake off the brainwashing. He made sure to send all of them to safe places where they would have happier lives.
As for Kimitomo himself, he's kinda gone off the grid. He still greatly struggles with the effects of the brainwashing. Unlike the children he saved, he was completely under its control and was only able to partially break free. The brainwash effect is still in his mind, and it takes the form of whispers in the back of his mind urging him into violent streaks. 90% of the time he's able to suppress it. But there are moments where it bottles up so much that it breaks out in dramatic fits and he pretty much goes feral.
He wants so badly to be a good person, but he feels like he'll never be able to get there. He's very pessimistic when it comes to himself, and tends to isolate himself from others so he doesn't hurt them. However, he has a HUGE soft spot for kids. Literally cannot say no to them. 😭
As for Koa, he's one of the children Kimitomo saved from the assassin clan. He was a little bit older when he was saved, so he's still somewhat affected by his old life. However, he's been able to grow up into a kind, albeit VERY broody, young man. He's currently searching for Kimitomo because he wants to express his gratitude and try and repay him for saving him from a fate of murder and captivity.
I have an image of Koa that I generated with AI as a reference until I draw him. Yeah yeah, I know, AI art is controversial and all that, but it helps me to have a visual image of my characters when designing them.
Tumblr media
My baby 🥰
I don't have a reference for Kimitomo. I didn't like anything the AI gave me .3.
Anyways. Those are my sneaky boys! 👐
Thanks for the asks, you two!

not bridgerton related hahaha but how are you faring on the ned/ariel/try guys drama as more info come out?? 🙁
It's the fact that yesterday morning I was like "oh boy, I'm gonna settle down and do a whole bunch of writing today! 😊" and then after finding out about the speculation from a tiktok I immediately spiralled and couldn't focus on anything else but the news as it unfolded (much like N*d couldn't focus on not cheating on his wife 🙃).
I've been watching the Try Guys since they were at Buzzfeed but in the last year or so I haven't really watched any of their content, only occasionally listening to the You Can Sit With Us podcast or any video that featured the Try Wives because (with all due respect to the guys minus Ned) I grew more fond of the girlies + Matt and their dynamic.
I know obviously as content creators/influencers you only know the versions of these people from what they put out there but I always felt Ariel was very down to earth and relatable and she truly is just a very wholesome lady. She was open about her insecurities with her body image after becoming a mother not to mention how she lowkey always felt insecure about being a few years older than Ned in their relationship - so after the news broke I was just absolutely devastated for her.
Whatever worries she harboured about her marriage or what her husband felt towards her must have increased by the tenfold after finding out that he was having an affair. And it's bad enough that he was cheating on her but to cheat on her with his employee?! In the business she helped set up?! She designed their office, she became a featured player in their videos, she participated in documenting their family life and sons, she supported him endlessly throughout - and this is how he repays her?! He centred his whole persona around being Ariel's husband, being a husband to a woman he absolutely adored, feeding the audience a version of #couplegoals that the hope-filled optimists in us can be inspired by - only to throw away his reputation, his business, and the love of an incredible woman for some sex that he was too sloppy to even bother hiding properly?! It's just infuriating that he could do that to someone as lovely as Ariel, to humiliate her like that so publicly and to tarnish everything their marriage represented and stood for.
I rarely invest myself in other peoples relationships and obviously I was naive in this case but I really thought N*d and Ariel were aspirational. 😭 It annoys me that people are all like "lol dumb bitch you really thought what you see is what you get?" because for the most part I'm a pessimistic realist when it comes to love but when it came to their relationship I couldn't help but find them adorable. I was never that keen on N*d as a person (I lowkey always felt he was the weak link in the group but felt bad for thinking that lmao I should have stuck to my gut) but the one thing that I thought he had going for him, the one thing that made him endearing was just how much he loved his wife and children. Even though I thought he was a bit of a try-hard and kinda douchey with his frat-boy persona when he was with the guys, I thought he was earnest and grounded with Ariel and their family, like that was the real him. So it makes me apoplectic with rage that he betrayed Ariel the way that he has and shown himself up to be the person I always thought I negatively viewed him to be.
Ariel deserves so, so, so much better than him and while I sadly think she'll stay with him for the sake of their children, I would love if she recognised how unworthy he is of her and walked away from him; but obviously it's not as simple as that. At the very least she's got the Try Team and the fans firmly on her side so she knows how loved and supported she is during this time.
(But anyway, that's my lesson learned of never putting faith in self-proclaimed wife-guys 🤡)

I!! MADE MY TWST MC OC!!!! EDIT: My friend named him Renyu for me so, i guess that’s his name now!! he’s not based on any pre-existing character. he’s just a completely average kid, like yuuken from the manga
im gonna put more details about him under the cut >:D
- Renyu is not immune to protagonist syndrome, meaning, he gets roped into way too much shit than he should be involved in
- he's incredibly, incredibly average in all his skill sets. he's only alright at whatever he does but that also means he has a really strange set of niche skills that seem.......oddly convenient for certain situations. hmm.....plot relevance!!
- he's super reliable, but his motivation is that he runs tasks for others because he wants people to like him. he has this complex about how others view him so he tries REALLY really hard to go out of his way for others, even if he has awful anxiety
 - he used to have a history with getting into physical fights with people (delinquent behavior, hence the dyed hair tips). he stopped because he realized that made people avoid him so he tries super hard to manage his reputation now. even though he stopped gettin into fights, people still try to steer clear of him because he's seen as 'bad news'.
- (he gets insecure about that because he doesn’t want people to dislike him. in the real world, barely anyone wanted to acknowledge him when he was around. he tries to not let this bother him, but he worries about it a lot. before getting isekai'd he wondered a lot if he even existed in the minds of other people)
-  Renyu has never hit a growth spurt. he never will. he is not aware of this fact and believes he'll hit his growth spurt someday. he'd only grow like, slightly taller than 5'1" (he'd wind up 5'5" at most) his height really isnt a point of insecurity for him bc of this, although he's always complaining about how he should be taller
- he's good with animals, so getting along with grim is a breeze. but since he's older than the adeuce combo, he acts like their superior even though he was put into the freshman year alongside them (like yuuken from the manga, who was a 2nd year in his original world)
- if he were to actually be placed in any dorm, it might be scarabia (mindfulness) or ignihyde (diligence)
- He has 0 self preservation and is kind of a suck-up. Like i said, he likes doing errands for others. Yes he wears himself out, no he won't stop. He wants to appear as friendly and helpful as he can, even at the expense of his physical  and mental wellbeing.
- He's also a bit of a pessimist so he looks gloomy and worried all the time. like a scared cat
- He also likes to shittalk people a lot from a distance so he's always seen muttering to himself, but if you approach him he'll shake it off with a worried smile like 'ahaha it's nothing important~'

PAIRINGS — Steve Rogers x fem!Reader
SUMMARY — Steve’s son is born with many physical ailments and he struggles with the guilt that comes along with it
WARNINGS — few swears, hospitals
NOTE — A personal favourite inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest
Tumblr media
Ever since your son was born all you could remember was Steve holding him. It was almost like he was afraid to let go, but if they were in the same room, Steve would be sure to be holding little Jamie.
Jamie hadn't necessarily been the most lucky kid perse, especially in terms of his health and maybe Steve felt guilty for that. He had a strong sense of duty and responsibility toward the child and you could sense his dismay whenever the doctor would add another thing to the list of ailments Jamie was suffering from.
"Steve, you know you have to sleep too," you sighed, walking into the nursery, your robe tied tightly around you. "It won't do any of us good if dad is tired."
Steve nodded and slowly, carefully, as if any slight movement could cause an explosion, placed the baby in his cot. He was so focused on the small child that you piped up and said,
"If it makes you feel better we can move him to our room."
Steve nodded, but his gaze never moved.
"You ever think the reason he's like this is because of me?" he whispered.
"What makes you say that?" you frowned, looking over at your husband concernedly.
"I was like this when I was a kid," he explained. "Before the serum. D-Do you think it might not affect things when we have kids and passed down all my immunocompromised genes to him?"
"Steve I don't think there's any way to know." you sighed. "All we can do right now is make sure he has the best care he can get, right? We won't be pumping him up with tobacco and heroine for asthma."
"Okay that is not my fault," Steve let out a small chuckle, turning to look at you with a faint smile.
"Yeah, still wish I could punch whatever doctor made you a smoker." you rolled your eyes. "It was a nightmare getting you to quit." you chuckled. "Come on honey, we'll bring him into our room and maybe you'll both have an easier time sleeping then."
--
As Jamie grew older the doctor's visits became a part of life, constant treatments and new care plans, but that little boy was a fighter, and he was a fighter because he wanted to be just like his dad. Any chance he'd get he would proclaim to anyone he met that he was going to grow up to be just like his daddy, the one and only Captain America and you could tell how terrible Steve felt every time he said it, because he knew Jamie couldn't be like him. At least not physically.
Through it all Steve never stopped holding him, Jamie was his boy and he would never let go. Not for anything.
"Steve, you're going to have to let him walk sometimes. He has to learn how to use his crutches and feel okay with the braces." you sighed one night as you were both getting ready for bed. Steve knew you were right, but that didn't make it sting less. "I know you're trying to protect him," you added. "But if he wants to be like you, you have to give him a chance to prove that he can be."
"But he can't (Y/N)." Steve said flatly.
"I never took you for a pessimist," you crossed your arms and looked at your husband. "That kid is a hell of a lot stronger than a lot of the adults I know so if you take a step back for a minute you might see that all he wants to do is show you what he's capable of."
Steve sighed and hung his head low, hating how much he knew you were right.
"Mom," you turned your head to the door and saw Jamie standing there, crutches under his arms, slightly wobbling.
"Hey honey, what's up?" you said sweetly.
"Can I stay here tonight?" he whispered.
"Sure, right Steve?"
"Yeah, of course kid. Whatever you need." he nodded and looked up at the two of you.
Jamie had his tongue stuck out in concentration as he hobbled over to the bed and he couldn't help but smile at the six and a half year old who was beaming once he pulled himself up onto the sheets.
"C-Can I have a hand," he panted and Steve looked at you and you nodded before Steve went to pick up his son and tuck him in under the blanket in the middle of the bed, his heart swelling with pride at the sight of his little fighter.
"Mom and I are gonna go get changed then we'll come join you okay?"
"Sure dad." he nodded and you and Steve snuck into the walk-in closet.
You grabbed your pyjamas, but when you turned around you saw Steve resting his elbows on one of the shelves, holding his head in his hands.
"Babe are you okay?" you asked quietly, gently laying a hand on his back.
His failure to respond and the slight shaking in his shoulders told you everything you needed to know and you were quick to wrap your arms around him, pressing delicate kisses on his back, letting him know you were there.
"(Y/N) I feel like a terrible father," he confessed. "How can I not even believe in my own son when all I wanted when I was in his position was just that?"
"Steve, it's different, you feel responsible. Like you have to protect him from the big scary world out there, but like I said Jamie's stronger than you think he is, and you know where he gets that from?"
Steve sniffed and whispered, "Me,"
"Exactly, so you're not a terrible father. You're learning, just like I'm learning to be a good mom okay?" you whispered. "You're doing a great job."
"Don't stop calling me out," he said, turning around to face you. "If I should be doing something differently, tell me. I want to know."
"Okay," you nodded. "Now get changed, he's waiting for us."
Steve took a deep breath and wiped away his tears, grabbing some sweatpants and a t-shirt so he could get changed along with you.
You both exited the closet and came back into the room, Steve climbing into the left side and you to the right after turning off the lights. Jamie immediately leaned toward his dad nuzzling himself comfortably into his chest. Steve wrapped a protective arm around his son knowing that now if he would be letting go a bit more elsewhere while his son was still young enough he'd do his best to keep him safe.
"I love you dad," he yawned and Steve smiled softly.
"Love you too buddy,"
--
"Tony the braces cannot have laser beams. He's nine, not an Avenger." Steve rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on, if I do this I'm guaranteed favourite uncle," he raised a brow.
"Let's find something else cool that's maybe a little less dangerous," Steve nodded. "Like how about lights?"
"Wow Cap you're more boring than I thought. We'll throw in some holographic projectors and mini ultra speakers, how about that? It's like a built in TV."
"Sure, as long as you can put parental controls on it. I don't need him keeping them on and watching TV in the middle of the night."
"I can work with that." Tony nodded and pulled up some designs on his screen. "I'll have them made in time for his birthday, don't worry, top priority."
"Thank Tony, I owe you one." Steve nodded.
"Anytime Cap, we all love that kid to pieces."
Steve smiled, "Speaking of, I need to go pick him up from school."
"Is he coming to visit after the appointment?"
"Yeah," Steve confirmed. "Do you mind checking with Nat to see if she'll be here? Jamie was asking about her."
"For sure, I'll send you a text. How about (Y/N)?"
"She's still out on a mission so I think it's just us for a few more days unless she gets back early."
"Alright then we'll see you later."
"See you,"
Steve left Tony in the lab and headed for the car garage where he had parked his C-RV. When he pulled into the school Jamie was sitting on one of the benches patiently waiting for the sight of his dad's red car. Steve rolled down the window and waved him down.
"Need a hand Jay?" he called and the boy shook his head, hopping up and grabbing his crutches and making his way to the car. Steve had already opened the door for him to make it a little easier and he climbed in, tossing his crutches to the side. As soon as the door closed, as per their usual routine, Steve handed Jamie his regular red inhaler.
"Why do I have to take this one again?" he asked. "There's so many I kinda forget."
"This one's to make sure you don't feel wheezy or shortness of breath."
Jamie nodded and used the inhaler, slouching back into the seat.
"We have an appointment today don't we?" he said.
"Yeah, sorry kid." Steve sighed and pulled out of the school parking lot. "What music do you want to listen to?"
"Can I play the stuff mom helped me get on my iPod?"
"Sure," Steve nodded and handed him the AUX connection. Jamie popped it into his iPod and ran through his playlists until he found the one he was looking for and clicked on it. As so as the first few notes of the melody played Steve broke out into a grin and looked over at his son.
"Where did you find this?" he exclaimed with surprise.
"Mom showed it to me," Jamie said proudly.
"And you like it?" he asked.
Jamie nodded, "I like the instruments, it's really cool."
"You know I used to listen to this when I was a kid. And that was-"
"A really long time ago, I know." Jamie laughed and Steve joined in.
"Well you can pick the music any time you want now that I know you like the good stuff." Steve nodded as they pulled into the doctor's office. They both got out of the car and walked side by side and suddenly Steve missed those moments where he'd carry Jamie everywhere. But Steve considered himself lucky. With most kids they would stray away from their parents, but Jamie wasn't afraid to show the world that he was still his mom and dad's boy.
Sitting in the office Jamie leaned against Steve's arm. Obviously tried from the long school day. Steve was grateful for the privacy the others were giving them, because even if he was recognized they gave space. He wasn't sure if Jamie would be able to deal with his dad's fans right about now. The visits were hard enough as is.
"Jamie Rogers? Doctor Hemingway will see you now." the assistant said and Steve and Jamie both got up. The boy reached for his crutches, but Steve could see how tired he was of using them so he decided it wouldn't hurt to see,
"Jay if you want I can carry you,"
"A-Are you sure?"
"Yeah, c'mere." Steve said, opening his arms and Jamie wrapped his arms around his dad's neck. Steve easily picked up the nine-year-old and held the crutches in his other hand walking into the all too familiar office.
"Captain Rogers, good to see you. You too Jamie."
"Nice to see you as well Dr. Hemingway." Steve nodded.
The doctor always insisted that he refer to Steve by his title
I went to school for my degree and you served your time for that title so I'll use it out of respect as you would for me.
He would always say and Steve couldn't argue so he left it.
"So Jamie how are you feeling?" he asked when Steve sat on the examination bed with the boy still in his arms.
"Fine," Jamie said. "I didn't have an asthma attack this week."
"That's good. How are the braces doing?"
The boy shrugged and didn't answer.
"It gets tiring right?" Steve asked, trying to prompt an answer. Jamie nodded.
"The crutches hurt too,but I don't want to use a wheelchair. I can walk."
"Well I think we're at a point where we can consider leaving the crutches. It would be good to still have them around, but you can practice walking without them until you become comfortable to do that out of the house for sure."
"Maybe we can ask your uncle Tony to make you some cool crutches that you can carry around in case you need them."
"Like ones that get real small?' Jamie asked, lighting up.
"Yeah, just like that. We can build them with him."
"Really?"
"Yeah as long as you ask him he'll do anything. He loves you loads."
Jamie smiled and looked forward to a new project which made the rest of the appointment a lot easier. They got the refills on the prescriptions he had to take regularly and before they knew it they were back at the tower.
"Dad, can I practice walking?" Jamie asked. "Without my crutches?"
"Sure kid, but we're taking the elevator. Your mom would kill me if the first thing I let you do were the stairs."
Steve stayed close to Jamie's side, only offering a hand when he thought it was needed or Jamie asked, but for the most part he was in constant admiration of his son's resilience. It really was a sight to behold.
"Hey Uncle Tony! The doctor said I'm allowed to walk without my crutches!" Jamie called to his uncle and was met with a big smile.
"Wow really? That's great news Jay."
"I know," he smiled. "And dad said you could help me make some crutches that get real small so I can carry them around in case I need them."
"Oh yeah for sure," Tony nodded, "Come on why don't we go do that now I'll even call Natasha to come. I think there's someone your dad might want to say hi to in the living room."
Steve took the cue and left, unknowing that Tony was actually serious because when he entered the living room he saw you sitting on the couch and chatting with Bucky.
"(N/N)? What are you doing back early?"
"Oh I just missed my handsome husband and wonderful son so I decided to come back." you chuckled and came over to give him a kiss. "But more seriously we finished up early. Sam's just doing the write up now."
Steve kissed you again, this time a little longer, the mission had been taxing considering the whole month it took you away but he was just glad to finally have you back.
"How's Jamie?" you asked.
"He's good, making progress with his braces. The doctor just gave him the okay to walk without crutches so he's very excited about that."
"Oh that's amazing news!" you grinned. "And how about you?"
"Well I missed my wife very much," he said in a hushed tone and Bucky gagged from the couch.
"Still here punk," he said.
"Well then fuck off jerk," Steve countered.
"Steven! What if Jamie hears you! I can't have my son knowing his dad swears like a sailor."
"Truth hurts doll," Bucky nodded just as Sam entered the room.
"Oh that's the song I've had stuck in my head! Hey FRIDAY play Truth Hurts."
You chuckled as the moment had definitely passed and you whispered to Steve that a warm bath later that night was definitely in order.
Bucky and Sam both quietly sang along with the song and (Y/N) scolded them once it hit the bridge knowing the music was broadcasted around the tower and that her son probably had heard the repeated swear words.
"Oh come on (Y/N)! I put the siiiiiing in single," Sam grinned.
"Ain't worried bout a riiiiiiiing on my finger," Bucky added.
"So you can tell your friend "shoot your shot" when you see em," Steve hummed quietly.
"It's okay he already in my DMs." They all finished together.
"Oh my god you guys are all ridiculous." you shook your head and sighed. "I can't believe I signed an official agreement making you my husband and therefore an unofficial one making you two my brothers-in-law."
"Hey mom? Is that you?"
"Hi Jamie!" you grinned turning around to your boy. "Miss me?"
"Yeah," he nodded, trying his best to come over to you quickly and give you a hug. "Dad's cooking isn't as good as yours. No offence."
"None taken," Steve agreed and the group laughed.
"And look at you already walking without crutches!" you smiled. "That's my little Avenger." you pressed a kiss to his head and looked back up at Steve mouthing 'I told you so' and he nodded back mouthing 'I know'.
--
"What happened?!" Steve exclaimed. "I came as soon as I heard!"
"I-I don't know what happened," you sobbed. "He was complaining about chest pain a-and then he just collapsed I thought he was having a heart attack,"
"Is he okay?" Steve asked worriedly, looking straight into your tear filled eyes.
"They took him into surgery," you tried to get the rest of the words out but your mouth wouldn't let you. So Steve did the only thing he could do and pulled you close to his chest and let you cry until there was nothing left. If he couldn't hold Jamie he was sure to hold you.
He pressed soft kisses to your hair and assured you everything would be okay when he really didn't know what the hell was happening, but that's what you did for each other.
After what felt like hours a doctor came into the waiting room and Steve perked up slightly looking for any news on his son.
"Mr. and Mrs. Rogers?"
"Yes, that's us sir." Steve said quietly so as to not wake you. "I-Is Jamie okay?"
The doctor nodded and a huge weight came off Steve's shoulders.
"We have him in a recovery room right now and we've set up a cot there if you'd like to stay with him."
"Of course." Steve nodded. "And thank you, really. I-I don't know what I would have done if I had to tell (N/N) that her baby... our baby..."
"It's okay, I understand." the doctor nodded. "I'll show you where his room is."
Steve picked you up carefully and carried your sleeping body into Jamie's room and laid you on the cot before sitting next to the hospital bed where Jamie was peacefully sleeping.
"The anesthetic should wear off soon and he'll probably wake up and be confused so it's good to have a familiar face around to reassure him."
"Can I ask what happened?" Steve said. "My wife and I still aren't fully aware of the situation."
The doctor nodded. "I'm afraid your son suffers from angina, it's a-"
"I-I know what it is." Steve nodded. "I'm assuming (Y/N) gave him and aspirin and it made things worse." Steve sighed.
"Yes, how did you know? We found ulcers in his stomach that didn't respond well to the aspirin."
"Because it's what happened to me when I was a kid. I'm just glad there's a good way to fix it now."
"Yes of course. We removed a majority of the ulcers so he should have a lot less pain after his recovery. As for the heart problems we'll most likely have to put him on a medication that will help the blood flow to his heart, but it might take us a day or so to cross reference it so it doesn't interfere with the other medications he's on."
Steve nodded, "Thank you again for everything,"
The doctor bid him goodbye and Steve sighed, resting his elbows on the bed and taking one of Jamie's hands in his own. The whole gravity of the situation came falling down on him like a huge wave. Steve was always the last to process things, so focused on taking care of others his emotions were always neglected until the last minute and that last minute was now.
His body released all of his stress and anxiety and anguish over the condition of his son through tears and the shaking sobs that overcame his body. The feeling of complete failure was almost unbearable and in that moment he prayed a miracle. For God to relieve even only one of his son's ailments to make the young boy's life easier than it had been.
The self deprecating thoughts only stopped when he felt a grip on his shoulder and he looked up and was met with Tony, Nat, Sam, and Bucky who had all come to give their support.
Steve's composure was one that was hard to be broken and most times when others were around he'd try to clean himself up as best he could, fearing what it would mean to show his vulnerable side, but now he didn't care and he was only thankful that his friends didn't bring it up.
The sight of Jamie with numerous IVs and an oxygen pump was enough to break many hearts and Nat even took a moment to go and press a soft kiss to his forehead, a silent plea for everything to be okay.
"Whatever you need we're here." Sam said quietly. "Just say the word and we've got it."
Steve nodded and thanked his friend, using his free hand to hold his which was on top of his shoulder.
"I-I um," Steve cleared his throat. "I'm just going to go grab some coffee and go outside for some fresh air. Call me if (Y/N) or Jamie wake up,"
The group nodded and Steve exited the room, grabbing some coffee in the waiting room then going out to the front of the hospital to sneak a quick smoke.
"Thought you quit,"
Steve turned around at the sound of the voice, cigarette hanging from his mouth and the lighter in the other and he noticed Bucky walking toward him.
"I did," Steve shrugged and continued to do what he was doing before.
"It's not your fault Steve," Bucky said, almost as if he could read his best friend's mind.
"You sure Buck? Cause it really fucking feels like it." Steve said while taking a long drag of his cigarette. "Fuck I missed this," he sighed.
"Steve you couldn't have known any of this was going to happen so you've gotta quit blaming yourself. Jamie knows your story and he doesn't, that should be enough for you."
"Yeah well Jamie's nine." Steve retorted. "Have you seen the list Bucky? Because it's getting a little too similar for comfort." he added. "Asthma, scoliosis, bone deformity, ulcers, and now angina."
Bucky stayed silent.
"How'd you do it Buck? How'd you look after me when I was like that?" Steve whispered.
"I believed in you," he said simply. "And I didn't treat you like you were a porcelain doll either. But that doesn't mean I wasn't worried for you. It's natural you shouldn't fight that, but don't try to shield him from things that he can figure out on his own."
Steve sighed and looked at the cigarette in his hand thoughtfully before looking up at his friend once more.
"I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I feel like a terrible father, like a terrible husband, like a terrible friend and I don't know what to do about it." he admitted. "I love that kid so much Bucky. More than I've ever loved anything."
"And he loves you too Steve and looks up to you. So tell him he can be whatever he wants to be, and who knows maybe he'll surprise you. I mean you sure did surprise me."
Steve let out a soft chuckle and threw the rest of his cigarette in an ashtray before taking one last deep breath and nodding, telling Bucky he was ready to go back inside.
When they walked back into the room you were awake and had a cup of water in your hands and Steve was about to say something but you interrupted him before he had a chance.
"It's okay I told them not to call you," you explained coming up to him. "I know you needed some time."
"Thanks honey," Steve nodded and hugged you, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
"No thank you baby, for taking care of me. I know when I get a little hysterical it can be hard." you whispered.
"It's okay," Steve nodded. "Jamie's okay so everything else is okay."
You nodded and sniffed, bringing Steve in close for a tight hug.
"I know you went for a smoke," you whispered so only he could hear you. "But considering the circumstances I think we'll let it slide."
"Thanks doll," he chuckled lightly and you hopped up for a quick peck on the lips before going over to Jamie's side and sitting with him.
"So what is it this time?" Tony asked, thinking it was now appropriate to do so.
"He has a heart problem." Steve said. "And stomach ulcers but that's what they got rid of in the surgery."
"What's wrong with his heart?" you asked.
"It's a disease called angina, it's where there isn't enough blood flow through the heart because of clots so they said they're trying to find a mild blood thinner to put him on."
"Another medication?" you sighed. "He's not going to like that."
"How many is he on right now?" Natasha asked.
"Four puffers, 1 pill for asthma, some preventative stuff and a bunch of supplements." Steve said. "And then he has the braces on his legs and the back brace to top it off."
"I just wish it was easier for him." you whispered, moving a few strands of hair out of his face.
"I know (N/N), me too."
Jamie woke up the next morning to a room full of people, laying on whatever furniture they could find. He recognized the room, it was the one his uncle Tony had made for him back at the tower, all the functions of a hospital and 20 times more privacy.
Out of all the people in the room the only face he didn't see was his dads and for a moment his heart sunk. But it was lifted again when he saw him walk into the room with a mug of coffee and a bagel, his classic breakfast that rarely changed if he was making it. Jamie would know, they lived off bagels the month his mom was away.
"Hey kid," Steve whispered. "How are you doing?"
"Okay," Jamie yawned and rubbed his eyes making his oxygen tube go askew. Steve straightened it out and held his son's face before bringing it in and pressing a kiss on his forehead.
Jamie's face showed one of disappointment Steve was all too familiar with because it was the same face he would make when he was mad at himself, so he decided to press a little harder and inquire further.
"Jamie are you sure? You're not feeling something else?"
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"What are you sorry for?" Steve frowned.
"For being like this." he shrugged. "I know it kills mom and you both worry about me a lot. I just wish it was easier for you."
"Jamie it's our job to worry about you," Steve said. "And yes maybe it's harder given the circumstances but that doesn't mean we can't handle it."
"Well I'm not strong," Jamie said. "I'm not like you or uncle Tony, or Sam, or Bucky, or auntie Nat or even mom. You guys are all heros and I have asthma."
"Jamie I think I beg to differ," Steve countered his son. "I think you're stronger than all of us because you have to deal with this and you've done it so well for a nine year old. Not everyone you know has to deal with this stuff. And I sincerely wish that I could go back to the way I was before so you can have someone to go through it with but we both know unfortunately that isn't possible. Jamie I'd give it all up for you because I know with you in the world they don't really need Captain America. They've already got someone stronger."
"Y-You really think so?"
Steve nodded, "Ask any of your aunties or uncles, they'll say exactly what I told you."
"How did you do it?" Jamie asked. "When you were like me."
"Well, like your mom and I look after you I had your grandma until I was sixteen and then I had your uncle Bucky after that."
"Did you look different?"
"Oh very," Steve nodded and pulled out his wallet and a photo that was tucked in it. "This is me, your grandma, uncle Bucky, his sister Rebecca, his mom Winnie, and his dad George."
"Wow,"
Jamie's eyes went wide. "You were small like me."
"Yeah, sure was." Steve nodded.
"And did you have to take as many pills as me?"
"No, but that's only because we didn't have them back then." Steve explained. "Now don't tell your mom I told you this but the only medications they had for me were very heavy drugs because that's what was cheap and what we could afford. The inhalers back in my day were huge and you definitely couldn't carry them around with you."
"Weird," Jamie grinned, definitely enjoying the story his father was telling him.
"Yeah, super right?" Steve agreed.
"Can you come sit here?" Jamie asked. "Like mom does when we go to the hospital?"
"Sure kid," Steve nodded, getting up from his chair and sitting next to his son on the bed, an arm wrapped around him and careful not to disturb any of the IVs and tubes coming from him.
"Can you tell me more?" Jamie asked.
All the while they were so busy talking to each other they hadn't noticed you starting to wake up. You made your way over to the bed and poked Steve on his shoulder prompting him to look up.
"Tell you more what JJ?"
"Morning mom," Jamie smiled softly and you bent down to accept a kiss from him while you ruffled his hair. "Dad was telling me about when he was younger."
"Oh really? Anything I should know about?"
Steve sent his son a look and he shook his head. "Nope, just the normal stuff."
"Well I'm glad to see you up and better than yesterday honey. We've got a doctor coming in later so be ready for some tests and a new medication okay?"
"Okay," he nodded, seemingly unfazed which was unusual considering Jamie hated his appointments and new medications. Whatever Steve was telling him seemed to have surely done a number on him.
"Morning," Steve smiled when your attention was drawn back to him.
"Good morning sweetheart," you smiled back and went in for a kiss causing Jamie to look away and say
"Ewww!" loud enough to wake up the rest of the gang staying in the room.
"Ugh what did they do this time bud," Sam yawned and stretched.
"They kissed," he said while sticking his tongue out. "Gross,"
"Oh really?" you said raising a brow with a smirk on your face and you took Steve's face in your hand and turned it toward you pressing another kiss to his lips and the whole group groaned. "Love you Captain,"
"L-Love you too,"
"She's scary," Jamie whispered to Steve.
"That's why I married her." Steve whispered back.
"Hey kiddo isn't it your birthday today?" Tony asked while getting up from one of the armchairs.
"Is it the 17th?"
Bucky checked his phone and nodded.
"Happy birthday Jay," Nat smiled.
"Yeah happy birthday son," Steve smiled and pressed a kiss to his forehead. "Your uncle Tony and I have a pretty cool gift for you. I think you'll like it."
"He would have liked laser beams better," Tony rolled his eyes and Steve face palmed.
"It's really cool Jamie, trust me."
"I'll go grab it," Tony said and walked out of the room toward the lab.
"Why don't I go make you a birthday breakfast. What do you want, kid?" Sam asked.
"Can we have pancakes?"
"Of course we can, Bucky why don't you come lend me a hand. We're cooking for a tribe here."
"Sure bird boy." Bucky said and Sam waved him off with an almost obscene hand gesture.
"Hey watch it!" Steve exclaimed covering Jamie's eyes who only giggled and looked back up at his dad.
Sooner or later, everyone was back in the room and Jamie was ready to see what gift his uncle and dad had in store for him.
"I didn't know you got him a gift," you whispered to Steve as Tony handed Jamie the present.
Steve shrugged like it was no big deal and you got a feeling that your gift of a small new drone might not live up to what Steve had managed to pull off.
"You got me new braces?" Jamie asked confused, looking at the fiberglass components his uncle had made.
"Here let me help you put them on," Steve suggested. "Trust me Jay, you're gonna like these."
Jamie moved his blankets and let his dad help fasten the braces to his legs and as soon as the last strap was on they lit up and a hologram shone out of it.
"Jamie, meet IRIS." Steve grinned.
"Otherwise known as Instability Removing Interface System." Tony added.
"Whoa," Jamie gasped, admiring the holographic screen in front of him.
"Just tell IRIS what you want and she can help with anything," Steve said. "Including walking if no one is around to lend a hand."
"Give'er a test," Tony smiled and Jamie thought a moment of what he wanted to say.
"Can she play music?"
"Of course," Tony nodded. "And movies too,"
"Sweet!" Jamie grinned. "Hey IRIS, can you play American Patrol?"
"Sure Jamie. Playing American Patrol by the Glenn Miller Orchestra."
When the music started to play Jamie was grinning from ear to ear and Nat chuckled and said, "Well he sure is your kid Mr. Barbershop quartet."
"Yeah, I know," Steve smiled.
"Thanks dad and uncle Tony this is the coolest gift ever."
"Would you have liked it better if there were laser beams?"
"Tony!" you and Steve both exclaimed and he raised his hands in defence and backed away with a chuckle.
"Steve, this is really sweet," you whispered to your husband. "I'm sure it'll boost his confidence too."
"You really think so?"
"Absolutely. You've outdone me this time dad." you nodded and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "And thank you Steve, for being such an amazing husband and father. I don't think I tell you that enough."
"No need," Steve insisted. "As long as I get to see you and Jamie every day I'll be a very happy man. That's more than enough for me."
You kissed him one more time, only now on the lips and marvelled at how lucky you were for things to turn out this way. Yes maybe Jamie would always have troubles and concerns that they would need to look after, but they were all doing it together and there was no other group of people you'd rather go through this with than your family.

World Building Wednesday- Endrali Jade
Tumblr media
(except it’s Thursday bc I saw @swtorpadawan‘s tag literally as I was climbing in bed last night 😅)
B A S I C S
• Full name: Endrali Jade (Chiss name’s Sabosen’dra’listral, but she doesn’t know that; it got buried in a Jedi archive within a couple months of her arrival) • Gender: Female • Sexuality: Straight • Pronouns: She/Her
O T H E R S
• Family: Parents and 3 older siblings, but they are unknown to her and unplanned by me(bc I know if I figure them out I’ll want to play them /cough)  • Birthplace: Csilla • Job: Barsen’thor of the Jedi Order, Commander of the Alliance • Phobias: Loss of control/free will, drowning  • Guilty pleasures: She doesn’t really have guilty pleasures? She enjoys what she enjoys, none of it is bad, so there’s no reason to feel guilty(she’s also much better about acknowledging when she needs a break or otherwise isn’t at 100% than some of my other characters /cough Vica, so she doesn’t ever feel guilty about needing to rest)
M O R A L S
• Morality alignment: Yet another Neutral Good (Light V) baby for me :D • Sins: lust/greed/gluttony/sloth/pride/envy/wrath (only if you really push her, and it’s more “righteous fury” most of the time, but, well. There’s a thin line) • Virtues: chastity/charity/diligence/humility/kindness/patience/justice
T H I S - O R - T H A T
• Introverted/extrovert (she’s good in social situations, very gracious, excellent at conversation, and it takes a long time to run down her “social batteries” so many people labor under the impression she’s an extrovert. But she recharges by meditating or spending time alone/just with one or two people she really cares about, so the girl’s an introvert)   • Organized/disorganized. (Started simply because she didn’t have a lot in the way of personal possessions, and she’s just defaulted to keeping them organized as she accumulated things. She has a very impressive lightsaber crystal collection at this point.)    • Close-minded/open-minded. (She’s always willing to listen to all sides of an issue and try more unorthodox solutions)  • Calm/anxious.  (she’s so calm she radiates peace) • Disagreeable/agreeable. (see the previous two) • Cautious/reckless. (she’s definitely more prone to considering all her options and weighing out the best choice whenever possible, rather than charge in blindly)  • Patient/impatient.  • Outspoken/reserved. (She’s not afraid to speak her mind, but doesn’t make a habit of just blurting things out, either, so I guess she’s somewhere in between?) • Leader/follower. (and she’s very good at it) • Empathetic/unempathetic. (the nature of her bond to the Force has her very keyed in to people’s emotions. She can’t read true natures like Jaesa or anything, but she can sense if someone’s, say, genuinely repentant and going to do better if he’s given a second chance) • Optimistic/pessimistic. (she always hopes for the best and only plans for the worst bc Lana nags her into it. :P) • Traditional/modern. (In-between again. She has a good balance of more traditional beliefs and modern ones) • Hard-working/lazy. (While she’ll rest when she needs it, she’s a very hard worker at any task she undertakes)
R E L A T I O N S H I P S
• otp: Endrali/Arcann • ot3: n/a • brotp: Endrali & Nadia, Endrali & Vette • notp: I can’t think of any that are that strong, but I literally don’t ship her with anyone but Arcann
tagging @haledamage, @actualanxiousswampwitch , and anyone who wants to steal it 😉

yo new mega man oc just dropped!! drum is a wily equivalent to roll the same way bass is a wily equivalent to rock. a handful of friends helped me think up a BUNCH of lore for her over the course of only about a day and i'm rotating her in my brain so hard at the moment i'll put it under a cut for convenience's sake but if you're interested here's a whole lotta stuff about her :O
in case the name pun wasn't immediately clear they're 'drum and bass' the same way their equivalents are 'rock and roll' lmao. since bass' name was changed from forte in localisation, i'd name her piano in a theoretical japanese dub [for those unaware, piano and forte are the musical terms for quiet and loud respectively]
her job is basically to keep things organised over at wily castle number whatever, whether that's by doing housework or evading wily's taxes for him or telling the latest eight robot masters her dad brought home what to do. like how bass' role as a combat robot leads him to being a hyper-aggressive, short-tempered blood knight, drum's role as an organisation bot makes her a bossy and overbearing control freak
despite their similarities, and as opposed to their lightbot counterparts' sweet and healthy sibling relationship, drum and bass fucking HATE each other with the kind of passion only siblings can. they're always butting heads over trivial things like who should do the dishes or whose turn it is on the xbox or who treble loves more [it's drum because she feeds him scraps from cooking when bass' back is turned lmao]. the only people they hate more than each other are their dad and mega man. the whole wily family dynamic is supposed to be something of a sad mirror image of the light family, where instead of the siblings being best friends and having a loving, supportive dad who'll always be proud of them it's a more pessimistic situation where the siblings are at each other's throats over everything except their mutual hatred of their even meaner father figure
i promise there's more to her than just parallels to other characters lmao but as opposed to her dad's bitterness towards light driving every war crime he commits or her brother's unhealthy obsession with being better than rock, drum very quickly came to the conclusion that she is and always will be inherently better than a lowly servant robot like roll and unlike SOME PEOPLE IN THIS FUCKING FAMILY she doesn't need to commit acts of heinous unprovoked violence left and right to prove it to herself. if anything she's insulted at being compared to roll and gets angrily defensive when the comparison is made
HOWEVER. the lads and i decided that perhaps drum and roll could end up being friends somehow - not sure how that'd come about aside from 'one time roll said 'why are you such a bitch' to drum's face and drum was so impressed at the sheer audacity that she legitimately started to respect roll' but it'd be so cute if they had a big/little sister dynamic..... one day drum realises that despite her best efforts she's developed genuine affection towards the less shooty of light's brats and she's like fuck. okay. how did i get here. eventually she begrudgingly accepts that she and the kid are ride or die now and decides to make the most of it by teaching roll swear words
while drum isn't supposed to fight, she's equipped with a standard arm buster, and her own treble adaptor in case she desperately needs some extra firepower. she heavily relies on fighting smarter rather than harder, but she probably wouldn't be able to hold out for long against a stronger opponent like mega man, even with the boost from treble
due to them both having the adaptor, drum and bass can fuse together with treble [but not on their own]. in theory the combined trio would be a hell of a force to be reckoned with, but in practice since drum and bass hate each other so much they can barely hold themselves together for long enough to spit out a bullet hell pattern before their nonstop bickering either renders treble-boosted d&b immobile from their own infighting like the archie comics doc robot or causes them to fall apart completely because one of them wants to yell at the other more efficiently. if something does drive them to put aside their differences for a fight, though, watch out
drum has the same voice as malfina the demon witch [wife of clark from connecticut]
she would unironically use 'dweeb' as an insult. in general i think drum talks like the mean emo older sibling in a narm-riddled coming of age movie from the mid-2000s
she's lead guitarist in an edgy teenage garage band with mix and level, a friend's extremely cool and awesome ocs. sometimes she also does vocals, other times she brings her little sister the blonder of the light lab brats along and gives her the honour of scream-singing the lyrics to [BAND NAME TBD]'s latest hit, Shut Up Dad

Hello! I just found this blog and I absolutely adore your writings aaahh qwq Can I request a oneshot perhaps of Hana meeting an older Monaca (since she was technically raised by Nagito too), aaah I hope this is ok :'D
Mod Mikan: Two things. First: Thank you for your kind words! It really warms my heart that you adore my writings, despite my lack of confidence in them. Secondly, at first I was going to politely decline this request since I didn’t really know how to go about writing this and I’m not the fondest of Monaca’s character (I also don’t know how to write her since we don’t really see her that much aside from UDG), but I really wanted to take as shot at writing this, since this does seem like an interesting concept to me. So instead of a drabble, I decided to make headcanons! I really hope this is to your liking, darling! Enjoy!
-It all started with you and Nagito wanting to go on a long, much needed date night!
-You two haven’t gone out on a proper date night since the birth of Hana. While the Komeada’s cherish the time they spend doting over their lil’ ultimate ballerina, way too many bedwets and cries from their daughter signaled that the parents needed some time to themselves
-”No problem, angel! I’ll call Hajime and see if he can babysit her tonight,” Nagito offered, already pulling out his phone from his back pocket. You were already applying some lipgloss to accompany the (F/C) dress you put on tonight, when you heard a sigh of discontent a few minutes later
-”Naggie, what happened?” You asked your husband, going up to him. He frowned, crossing his arms
-”Hajime can’t watch Hana. He and Chiaki are in Florida on vacation at the moment,” I let out a long exhale myself, about to reluctantly call off mine and Nagito’s longly yearned for date night. Before I could utter the depressing sentence, Nagito’s eyes shone again, as if he thought of a solution
-”Oh! Maybe Monaca can babysit our flower!” He exclaimed, getting out his phone again. I widen my eyes, carefully placing my hands on his phone, supposedly trying to stop him from making the phone call
-”Nagito, hold on! Umm...maybe we can reschedule next week when Hajime and Chiaki come back!” I suggested, forcing a grin to ease him. However, my white haired husband was no fool. He sighed, bringing a cold hand to gently caress my cheek
-”Love...” He started, making me lock my (E/C) orbs into his ghostly green ones. He smiled softly at me, kissing my forehead in attempt to soothe me. With his thumb stroking my cheek, he continued with what he was going to say
-”I know Monaca has the reputation as being....devious, but she changed. I promise,” He assured me. Instead of earning an equally tender smile from his spouse, I tilted my head challengingly at him
-”Oh really?” I asked him, conflicted with what to agree with. On one hand, the idea of me and Nagito having at least a couple of romantic hours alone, getting lost in a lover’s chat, gazing into each other’s eyes as we feast upon our favorite foods together--just the two of us.....it gave me the idea of what I was really craving for....a proper date between me and my husband
-On the other hand, I’ve heard stories that Nagito told me about Monaca. Albeit for a short time, Nagito technically raised the lil’ ultimate Homeroom. She claimed he “made her into an adult” in a way, getting her now known cynical, pessimistic personality from him. However, the reputation she has gotten before that matched the one of a sociopath--manipulative, guileful, sly, and downright disingenuous. There was no way I’d leave my daughter with someone like that
-”Nagito.....you still have contact with her? How can you even be so sure?” I asked him a follow up question, making his gentle smile turn into a light smirk. He began to unlock his phone, as he answered my questions with a calm, yet soothing voice
-”We never talked after she kinda...left. I guess overtime she turned kinda....indifferent, especially due to our different values and beliefs. But it’s safe to say that we grew closer as time went on,” He explained, pressing his phone to his ear. I let out another sigh, but this one carried a softer tone than my previous depressed one
-”Alright. I guess a few hours with Monaca won’t hurt. I’ll inform Hana,” I smiled, pressing a pappy peck onto Nagito’s cheek, as I made my way into Hana’s room. I could’ve sworn I saw a light pink hue dust over Nagito’s cheek before I left the room
***********************************************************************************************
-”You’re his daughter? Geez, I’m sorry,” The green haired girl told the toddler, as she sat down on the couch. The little ballerina frowned, fumbling with a red playing block she was holding in her hands
-It’s been a few minutes since Monaca came to our house and greeted both me and Nagito. She simply just waved at the guy she called her ‘Big brother’ when she was younger. She had a bit more cheerful expression when she saw me, expressing a passionless “Hello (Y/N)” and neutral looking smile. To anyone, it would’ve looked like she couldn’t care less. But to anyone that actually knew Monaca, it was considered showing more emotion that usual
-After we had a brief introduction between Hana and Monaca, we said our goodbyes as me and Nagito made our way to our car. We drove off, the thought of finally having a night-out to ourselves kicking out any worry or concern I had in the back of my mind
-Everything was going to be perfect.........right?
(Third person’s POV)
-”I like Papa’s hope rants. I think they’re interesting!” Hana exclaimed, flashing a toothy grin at her babysitter. Monaca cocked a brow, watching the three year old girl stack her building blocks onto the wooden living room floor. Someone....actually likes his rants about hope and despair?
-”Oh you poor thing. What did that guy do to your innocent mind?” Monaca asked her, snatching the TV remote from the glass coffee table. She flipped through the channels, stopping at the comedy movie, Ballerina. The remote was lazily tossed beside Monaca, hitting the fuzzy material with a low “thud”. Hana’s (E/C) eyes shot up from her blocks, staring at the screen with intensity
-”I guess it makes sense.....spend enough time with that guy...you’d become as cheery as him....creepy even....” The older woman commented under her breath, keeping her gaze on the toddler’s eyes glued to the TV
-”Do you like this movie?” Monaca asked her, making the blond haired girl nod with excitement. She turned back to her with a wide smile on her face
-”Papa and I watch it ALL the time! It in-inspired me to be a ballerina!” She cheered, crawling towards her babysitter. She stopped at her feet, tilting her head up to lock her (E/C) orbs into Monaca’s pickle green ones. The older girl furrowed her brow, but before she could offer the toddler to sit on the couch with her, Hana stood up and tug on Monaca’s dress skirt
-”Papa always tells me with enough hope and de-deter--determina--” The pale skinned girl huffed at trying to say the long word, rephrasing her words with easier ones that she understood better
-”Papa always tells me with enough hope and desire, I can make my dreams come true. He says after bad luck and despair, good things will come. Despair never wins, no matter how tough it may seem. Because if it seems very VERY bad at first, it will b-balance out with the good that will come! Now that is where hope comes in! Papa says that--” Before Hana could finish her own adorable hope ramble (another trait she got from her Papa, alongside his hair, love for bagels, admiration for (Y/N), and aloofness), Monaca plugged her ears shut with her hands pressing harshly against them
-”Stop, Stop, STOP! Not another ‘hope this’ ‘despair that’ ramble! Monaca can’t take it!” She grunted in frustration, being reminded of the exact same thing that drove her away in the first place. This made Hana jerk back, biting her lip in regret and humiliation
-”I....I’m sorry, Miss. Monaca. I....I didn’t know Papa annoyed you that much...” She sniffled, failing to stop the tears from breaking the barrier between her brain and eyes. Salty teardrops began to swell in her (E/C) hues, blurring her field of vision. As more tears began to prick, rolling down her pink colored cheeks, the green haired teenager’s mouth formed into a sorrow scorn
-”Hey, I never said that. While.....that is true, there are some things I do like about him,” Monaca crouched down to Hana’s height, resting her arm down to her knee. In the first time in years Monaca’s lips curved into a bright....smile? Smile? Monaca rarely offered a cheerful smile since childhood
-However this uncommon occurrence made Hana sniffle, wiping the flood of watery fluid that poured down from her eyes. She looked up at her babysitter, feeling a soft cloth being applied to her tear stained cheeks. She noticed Monaca was wiping her face with a handkerchief, making the toddler feel even more at ease
-”You....you really mean that? What do you like about Papa?” Hana asked her, a gentle smile forming onto her own small pink mouth. Monaca kept her warm smile, as she lifted Hana from the floor, peaceful putting her on her lap. She tucked her handkerchief back into her dress pocket, turning back to the little girl
-”Well.....your Papa made me into an adult....in a way....I may not like his rambles the way you do, but...it shaped me into who I am today,” She started to elucidated her thought process, intriguing Hana into her explanation even more. This silently hinted the green-haired teenager to keep going, as she quickly thought of what else to say to back up her statement
-”Monaca became...mature and grown-up because of your Papa. He only raised me for a short time, but it was enough for me to know exactly my desires and dreams for the future. Like how that movie you and your Papa watch made you into a ballerina,” She compared her intentions with Hana’s, making the little girl nod understandingly. Before the teen could go on, the toddler interrupted her with a joyous toned question
-”That’s so cool Papa in-inspired you too, Miss. Monaca! What happened after you grew up and left Papa’s care? What exactly did he make you want to do?” She asked. Monaca’s atypical smile was replaced with her usual seldom, bored expression as she truthfully told Hana
-”He made me give up despair and hope all together. It came to the point were one day....I just didn’t know what I wanted anymore. So I decided that I was done with everything and wanted to live in space for a while. It was where I was actually before your Papa called me to watch you,” She let out an exasperated sigh, turning to stare at the floor in disbelief “Remind me to change my phone number once I’m done here, okay kid?” She asked the toddler, making her furrow her brow. However, Hana just flashed her normal optimistic grin and nodded
-”Okay, Miss. Monaca. Now come on! I want to watch the movie! And later let’s play with my blocks together! I’m making a castle!” She shouted with delight and amusement. This just made the regularly cynical girl curve her lips into another infrequent smile, but this time a lot less noticeable. She got on her knees with Hana, playing with her building blocks as the movie kept flashing on the TV screen
*****************************************************************************************************
(Y/N’s POV)
-”Thank you for watching her, Monaca! We really appreciate it,” I thanked the now 18 year old girl. Me and Nagito just came home from our dinner and found Hana sound asleep on the couch, one of the couch pillows tucked messily underneath her head, a navy blanket lazily place over her body as it rose up and down from her deep breaths
-”It was no problem at all, (Y/N). Hana is actually....really nice,” Monaca admitted, almost making me choke on my own saliva. Monaca.....expressing positive feelings? I guess she really had changed from her time in space. Monaca turned to Nagito, his arm still wrapped around my waist, stroking my left hip with comfort
-”You have a good one....don’t screw her up,” Was all she said before she made her way out the door. However, Nagito didn’t seem fazed by her subtle insult towards him, as he kept a merry smile on his face--the same one that was a dead ringer of his daughter’s
-”Thank you again!” My husband waved at the green-haired girl, making her stop in her tracks and turn back at us. I cocked my brow, thinking she forgot to tell us something. My thoughts were quickly put to ease, as she began to speak one last time
-”Oh, one more thing. If you ever need a babysitter....please don’t call me. Okay, thanks! See you never!” She waved back at us, making her way out of the house. My skepticism was brushed off by the wave of relief when Monaca didn’t want to come back, in spite of confessing that Hana was a good kid
-My pale skinned husband shut the door softly, not wanting to wake our sleeping daughter from the couch she was passed out on. He lifted her into a princess carry in a mild manner, the blanket still providing her a light heat source. He turned to me, walking towards the bedrooms with me
-”I’ll put our little hope in bed. You go get comfy in our room. You seem a bit tired yourself, my angel,” He told me in a hushed tone. I nodded sleepily, backing up his observation with a fatigued yawn. I gave my sleeping daughter a soft kiss on her temple, as I made my way to mine and Nagito’s shared bedroom. I fumbled with the back off my dress, feeling the cool metal of my dress zipper, peeling it off from my body
-After throwing on one of Nagito’s oversized T shirts and brushing my teeth, my marshmallow haired husband came in our room, throwing his white blazer onto a nearby chair. As he began to strip from his tuxedo, he turned to me, his calm, positive expression never leaving his face
-”See (Y/N)? Everything is fine. We had our date night and Hana was safe and happy,” He informed me, alleviating me even more than I already was when we got home. I nodded in agreement, crawling into our shared bed
-”I know, Naggie. I know. I guess.....I was worried about losing Hana....our Hana....” I disclosed, earning a confused look from Nagito
-”Hm? I’m not sure I follow, (Y/N),” He told me, nodding his head as an unspoken way for me to describe what I was feeling. I sighed, shifting my weight on the bed so I was sitting upright
-”Monaca became....gloomy....depressed....jaded. It’s stupid to worry about this but....I thought if she told Hana her perspective about growing up with you....Hana would become like her...” I turned to Nagito, a seed of worry was blooming onto my face, filling it with trouble “Hana really loves you, Nagito. Your desire to bring hope out....your enthusiasm and passion...I don’t want Hana to lose avidness she got from you,” I reached to stroke his arm. He stayed silent for a while, processing what I just told him. After a few moments of racking his brain, Nagito smiled once again, sitting down with me, stripped to his boxers
-”(Y/N), I’ve only raised Monaca for such a short time. It was on her to leave and abandon the ideas that I raved about. I did nothing but be myself around her. Forget about Monaca, love. Hana is our daughter--our precious flower of hope. As her parents, we’ll support her no matter what she wants to do. But for now...it seems like she wants to bring out the hope that sleep inside of her...” He held me close, bringing me towards his body by my waist. He stroked my arm in a tender manner, resting his cheek on top of my head
-”You really mean that, Naggie?” I asked him, feeling a nod against the crown of my head. He tilted his head down at me, gently kissing my forehead
-”I really do, my sunshine. Besides...” He motioned for me to lay down with, patting the space next to him on the white bedsheets. I snuggled against him, signaling for him to turn off the lights in our room. Before our room was engulfed the the darkness of the night, I could’ve sworn that I saw Nagito’s smile turn into a collected smirk as he held me close
-”You think I’d really help out someone that supported despair?”

Galactik Football: Season 1
I completely forgot that I wrote a load of ramble as I rewatched GF during  lockdown, so uh here’s a sort of review for season 1!
------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, the concept and setting is just so unique and wild I mean, football in space against aliens but with magical powers too? Epic. Superpowers are pretty common in sports cartoons and anime but here there’s actually an explanation for them, and they have significance for the world of the show. The concept of the flux sets up for an entire sub-plot of wars with weapons of mass destruction, corrupt mega-corporations ruling the galaxy, space pirates… the world feels very lived in, and makes you want to know more about the goings-on outside of the football games.
The pirate business doesn’t overshadow the Snow Kids though, because their personal drama and journey to becoming a better team together is interesting enough. Basically, this is a space opera with football sprinkled in. For such a big cast, most get good development and there’s no clear main character. This leads into me rambling about each character, because I never really appreciated the diversity of arcs when I first watched it as a kid :’P
Rocket:
He starts out pretty timid, doesn’t fight for his dreams, and has a habit of running away from confrontation (like when the others found out he was Aarch’s nephew) that follows him into season 2. He’s stuck tending to flowers (ironic, since he himself isn’t allowed to grow and bloom), but by the end of the season, he’s more authoritative and confident enough to suggest strategies to the team. Also has a habit of hiding his feelings and underestimating his importance to others, which he works on in season 2.
Tumblr media
Tia:
You’d expect her to be more calm and similar to Rocket, and sure they bond over being out of the inner circle of the Snow Kids, and also both having emotionally unavailable parents, but she’s actually far more headstrong than she seems. I mean, she was willing to do anything to be in Aarch’s team, even faking her parents’ consent and almost dying when her ship crashed! (Plus that scene where she uses the breath is epic, that music? Chef’s kiss) She’s not perfect though – she’s very empathetic (like when they arrived on the Ryker’s planet and she was the most upset by the conditions there), and relates to Rocket, so she wants to give him the happy family she didn’t have, by reuniting him with his mother. Although well-intentioned, it’s preeetty invasive, and though it turned out okay in the end, she really should have consulted with Rocket first, especially after finding out his mother wasn’t dead, but had left them. For all Tia knew, she could have been a really shitty person.
Tumblr media
D’jok:
Very clear ego problems :P He doesn’t know his past and doesn’t have much of a future on Akillian, so he pushes himself to achieve some great destiny, then feels like everyone else isn’t on the same level as him if they don’t do the same. He gets more than he bargained for when it turns out that Sonny Blackbones is his dad, and he realises what’s really important to him in the final match. Namely, he realises that the reason he found it so difficult to sabotage the match isn’t because he wanted to win at all costs, but because he doesn’t want to betray his team – he wants to win together with them.
Althooough, I was never entirely sure about him scoring the penalty before knowing Sonny was safe, like sure he didn’t know Sonny that well yet so maybe felt closer to the SK but dude, you just sentenced a man to death. I think the life-and-death situation by itself was enough to get him to rethink his priorities. Maybe they could have made him more aware that the whole galaxy was at stake if he lost the match, but that motive for scoring the penalty isn’t as satisfying for his arc I guess.
Tumblr media
Micro-Ice:
To this day, I have no idea why he was named that :’P He’s the first Snow Kid we meet, which makes for a fun start to the show since he’s such a smart-ass and a joker that keeps getting in trouble. He could have easily been nothing but comic relief, but he isn’t. He’s actually pretty pessimistic and doubtful about his skills, and covers it up with jokes and fake confidence. He didn’t even want to go to the try-outs, to avoid disappointment if he didn’t get chosen.
The self-confidence issue keeps building up with things like being put as substitute initially, being the last person to get the Breath, and D’jok and Mei getting together, finally driving him to run off with the pirates thinking he isn’t really needed on the team. He also lets jealousy get the better of him, souring his friendship with D’jok and forgetting that Mei is free to choose whoever she likes. He eventually realises he’s wrong though, and comes back. I also love his friendship with Artie :’D
Tumblr media
Mei:
She starts out ambitious, which in itself isn’t a bad thing, but she’s willing to throw others under the bus for personal gains. Then you start to see it’s because of her mother’s influence – always pushing her to do better. When Mei starts to actually have feelings for D’jok, she starts to care about him and regrets breaking up his friendship with Micro-Ice. Eventually, she manages to stand up to her mum and is happy playing the position she’s best at.
The execution cooould be a little better because at times it leaned a bit into the “overambitious woman who needs to be put in her place” trope. It only really comes down to little details, like why did Aarch refuse to let her try out as an attacker when he was forming the team? Back then he had no idea who she was or what her skills were?? He didn’t even want to consider the idea later when Micro-Ice left, which felt more like an emotional reaction than a tactical one. But anyway, it’s alright overall and I love that she got to score the winning goal despite not being an attacker.
Tumblr media
Thran and Ahito:
Having a narcoleptic goalkeeper is just genius, and makes for some fun last-minute saves. Also love how despite being asleep half the time, Ahito’s the one that knows what’s up :’P Thran is also really underrated but there’s more to talk about with these two in season 2.
Tumblr media
Also wanted to throw in some appreciation for how the older characters are written – usually the adults in kids shows are more on the side-lines, but in Galactik Football, they’re also pretty flawed and interesting. For example, Aarch isn’t the perfect, wise mentor – whether he did it for glory, to escape bad memories or a combination of both, he still left his brother and planet behind when they needed him most, and now he’s trying to make up for it. Norata’s not perfect either – he denies Rocket his dreams partly to protect him, but also out of bitterness towards Aarch and fear of being left alone again. Also, there’s a variety of different families being represented in the show – single parents, adopted parents, rich, not so rich, neglectful, supportive, ambitious, non-existent… and with some of them, this plays a key role in the Snow Kids’ characters.
The show might not be the most technically amazing, okay, the 2D animation is not the best, but the designs are pretty diverse and I miss that 2000’s style with the outfits :’P There are lots of locations with pretty backgrounds, and very varied planets that reflect the people living there. I also like the comfortable sci-fi design – it’s futuristic-looking enough, but more colourful than some of the CGI bores we get in movies these days.
The 3D animation is better – they reuse motions a lot but at least they shake it up a bit by using different characters and camera angles. Speaking of camera angles, there’s some really interesting ones and camera movements that really make the matches dynamic. Honestly, having CGI in the 2000’s that doesn’t look super ugly and dated now is great, partly because they transferred their designs to 3D really well and partly because they didn’t try to do much rendering on the models.
ALSO THE SOUNDTRACK SLAPS THEY DID NOT HAVE TO GO THAT HARD ON THE OPENING THEME AND THE SCORE SOUNDS SO EPIC ALL THE TIME
I don’t know how to end this so if you actually got this far, I’ll just say season 1 was the best one for me! There’s some parts and characters I left out but that’s for another time. Sinedd and D’jok’s rivalry deserves its own post :’P

GAH!! I loved the new chapter of Making Up for Lost Time! I loved the pansexual!Steven rep! I loved the discussion about aspec identities! Personally, I see Steven as demisexual - but I'm curious to know what you think! Similarly, how would you classify Spinel's sexuality - at least in the case of your fic? Is she (and presumably the rest of gemkind) ace but sex positive/sex neutral?
Thank you so much! This ask made me so happy! :D At first when I was writing this chapter, I kept writing Steven saying "I think attraction is ____!" and then I realized that's dumb, I have a lifetime of experience being asexual, I'm going to make him ask all the "Wtf is attraction anyway?" questions that I asked myself growing up instead. Idk if that approach necessarily made it better or worse, but it was certainly way easier to write. Ironically I DO also see Steven as demisexual! This might sound weird, but I see Steven experimenting with different labels to describe his experience as he gets older. The mindset he has that all life is beautiful and worth protecting naturally leads him to believe he is pansexual, but it's only with some life experience and self-reflection that he might realize that panromantic demisexual might describe him more accurately. He still appreciates beauty in all forms and would take any of his friends out on a cute romantic date, but he needs to form a close bond with someone before he can develop any type of sexual feelings for them. Steven's young, though, and he's only ever been with Connie. He'll figure it out. :) I tend to imagine most of gemkind as asexual until proven otherwise. My thoughts on canon post-movie Spinel are kind of sad and pessimistic (which is why I turn to fanfiction). I think it's realistic to assume that Spinel would form an unhealthy codependency to someone to soothe her attachment trauma. I honestly don't know that she would seek people out for any deep romantic need, though. She'd want the intensity that comes with a physical relationship to give her some sense of relief that she's wanted, but I think that intensity would inevitably burn through a lot of relationships long-term. I don't headcannon Spinel as emotionally stable enough to have formed a healthy self-identity that takes into consideration her own wants and preferences. Throw sex into the mix, and her sexual identity would likely revolve more around sex addiction than about her own sexual needs. MY Spinel, however, is very much Steven-sexual haha. Sex-positive demisexual is a good way to describe her, yes.

Spoilers for the upcoming season of the Flash in this post!
secondratevillain replied to your text post: HA! The Robot Chicken bit is *perfect* for this :'D
It was probably his greatest moment of exposure...up until the Flash show, presumably.  It weirds me out that we're probably going to see an influx of new Chillblaine fans :>
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: I never really got the point of Chillblaine in the comics, really. Was he Lisa's boytoy/henchman with benefits? And then she went through a few of them and the last one killed her (whyyy) so (Watsonian reason) Len could be sad about it? Anyway, it's a bit meh for me. At least they're not fridging her :-/
Yeah, the comics versions were Lisa's boytoys and henchmen, and most were quite stupid.  Except the last one, and I still don't understand why Waid had him kill her because he was promptly 'killed' two issues later....there was all this ominousness over how he was different and dangerous, but it turns out that he wasn't. (The fact that Johns retconned his death years later doesn't change that Waid seemingly intended him to be dead and forgot about him.)  I don't think Waid knew what to do with Lisa or the Chillblaines, and he was so publicly dismissive of her that frankly I think he just didn't like her.
purplecyborgnewt replied to your photo post: Is Prof. Zool related to Prof. Zoom, and if not, is his real last name Ogical?
He's Adrian Zoom's first cousin, and boy is it strange that so many supervillains came from one family :>  However, their other cousin Prof Zoot is very fashionable!
one-rogue-army replied to your text post: @belphegor1982 -- They're not fridging Lisa, but is there any sign of her returning? Wondering if Flash has to break the timeline (yet again) into a configuration that allows the Rogues to be assembled under Lisa's leadership.
The article claims that there are no imminent plans for her return, so I wouldn't expect to see her anytime soon.  I doubt we'll be seeing many more of the older established Rogues before the show ends, although IIRC the Top will be in the season premiere.  Mostly I'm just pessimistic about the lifespan of the show, which I can't see going more than one or two seasons further....seems like everyone's lost enthusiasm for it.
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: I think at this point we can write off show!Lisa, unfortunately. I believe the actress is too busy to even cameo on the CW shows (which - good for her, but sad for us) :S Much as I LOVE what they're doing with Mick on LoT I wish we could have had the Rogues as a team/family...
Putting Len and Mick on Legends was probably a death knell for the Rogues, TBH.  I too love what the show did for Mick, especially because they developed him from a completely one-note caricature (note: I found the caricature hilarious, so no hate here), but that strangled the group which was starting to coalesce and it couldn't re-form.  They tried to form the Rogues with the first Mirror Master and Top as the bosses, but viewers didn't really like them and that quickly faded.  So that's why things generally didn't work out, but it’s really too bad because it truly hampered the show IMO.

Incredible Fossil Discovery Shows Ancient Animal Brain From 310 Million Years Ago

Incredible Fossil Discovery Shows Ancient Animal Brain From 310 Million Years Ago
Charles Darwin famously discussed the “imperfections” of the geological record in his book On The Origin of Species. He correctly pointed out that unless conditions are just right, it’s unlikely for organisms to be preserved as fossils, even those with bones and shells.
He also said “no organism wholly soft can be preserved”.
However, after more than a century of fossil hunting since his book was published, we now know the preservation of soft creatures is indeed possible – including some of the most fragile animals, such as jellyfish.
But what about the really delicate anatomy of animals, such as their internal organs? Can they be fossilized too?
Our study, published this week in Geology, shows how even the intricate brains of ancient aquatic arthropods (invertebrates with jointed legs) can be preserved in remarkable detail.
The discovery of a 310 million-year-old horseshoe crab in the US, complete with its brain intact, adds to a recent string of fossil finds which have unearthed some of the oldest arthropods with a preserved central nervous system.
The horseshoe crab fossil we document in our study sheds new light on how these fragile organs – typically prone to very rapid decay – can be preserved with such fidelity.

Brain freeze: how to fossilize an arthropod brain
Most of our knowledge of prehistoric arthropod brains has been sourced from two key types of fossil deposit: amber and those of Burgess Shale-type.
Amber is fossilized resin that oozes through tree bark and is known to trap a variety of organisms. The entombed individuals are commonly represented by arthropods such as insects – made famous in the original Jurassic Park movie.
These fossils preserve an incredible amount of anatomical detail, as well as behaviors, mainly because very little decay takes place after the organism is rapidly trapped in the resin.
(Greg Edgecombe)
Above: A centipede and a neighboring ant suspended in roughly 23 million-year-old Mexican amber.
Using sophisticated imaging technology on these amber fossils, paleontologists can study tiny arthropod brains in 3D at minuscule scales. However, the oldest arthropods in amber only extend back to the Triassic Period (around 230 million years ago).
Burgess Shale-type deposits are much older, being Cambrian in age (typically 500 to 520 million years old). They contain an abundance of exceptionally preserved marine arthropods.
These fossils are very important as they represent what are unmistakably some of the oldest animals, and can therefore inform us on their origins and earliest evolutionary history. Their remains are primarily preserved as carbon films in mudstone.
The fossilization process starts with storm-induced mudflows that sweep up the delicate animals and bury them in the seafloor in low oxygen conditions. Over time, the mud turns to stone and is compressed, leaving the animals pancaked in the rocks.
Many Burgess Shale-type arthropod specimens preserve internal organs, especially the gut. But fewer show parts of the central nervous system, such as the optic nerves, ventral nerve cord, or the brain.
(Javier Ortega-Hernández)
Above: The Cambrian arthropod Chengjiangocaris kunmingensis from China. See the bead-like ventral nerve cord preserved in the fossil (A) and its central position in the reconstruction (B).
Mind-boggling preservation
Our new fossil demonstrates arthropod brains can be preserved in an entirely different way. The specimen of the horseshoe crab, Euproops danae, comes from the world-famous Mazon Creek deposit of Illinois, in the US. Fossils from this deposit are preserved within concretions made of an iron carbonate mineral called siderite.
Some of the Mazon Creek animals, such as the bizarre “Tully Monster”, are entirely soft-bodied. This suggests special conditions must have been in place to preserve them.
We have shown, for the first time, that the Mazon Creek animals were not only moulded by the rapid formation of siderite that entombed their entire bodies, but also that the siderite quickly encased their internal soft tissues before they could decompose.
Notably, the brain of Euproops is replicated by a white-colored clay mineral called kaolinite. This mineral cast would have formed later within the void left by the brain, long after it had decayed. Without this conspicuous white mineral, we may have never spotted the brain.
A fossil no-brainer
One of the challenges of interpreting ancient arthropod anatomy is the lack of close modern relatives available for comparison. But luckily for us, Euproops can be compared to the four species of living horseshoe crabs.
Even to the untrained eye, a comparison of the fossil’s nervous system with that of a modern horseshoe crab (below) leaves little question that the same structures are found in both species, despite them being separated by 310 million years.
([A-C] Russell Bicknell, [D] Steffen Harzsch)
Above: (A) The fossil and (B and C) interpretive drawings of the Euproops danae brain, and (D) the brain of a modern juvenile horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus.
The fossil and living nervous systems match up in their arrangements of nerves to the eyes and appendages, and show the same central opening for the oesophagus to pass through.
Uncovering these exceptional specimens gives paleontologists a rare glimpse into the deep past, enhancing our understanding of the biology and evolution of long-extinct animals. It seems Charles Darwin need not have been so pessimistic about the fossil record after all.

a twilight tag game, you say?
pick 5-10 characters and write your take on the canon version of them vs. fanon version of them. fanon doesn’t have to be what is generally accepted in the fandom, it can be your own idea of what you think a character is like. then tag the same number of people as characters you pick, if you can.
I was tagged by @teamjacobthot -- thank you so much! I’m excited to get into this :)
EMBRY
(obviously because i adore him with my whole soul)
Canon:
chill aka probably just shy let’s be real here
likes to bet on things?
seems to have the most common sense
Fanon:
HERE WE GO, EVERYBODY *cracks knuckles*
def the smartest one out of him, jake and quil.
an observer. definitely a people watcher. he reads the VIBEZ
very, super, ultra, mega sarcastic. almost cynical. I feel like he’s probably a realist in a lot of situations rather than either an optimist or a pessimist. probably leans a little more towards pessimism though
refuses to learn about his dad (though, I personally believe it’s Joshua Uley, but that’s a long headcanon for another day unless someone specifically wants to know my thoughts on it more haha)
a super romantic without knowing he’s a romantic?
real tight with his mom-- they’ve only ever had each other since old daddio has been out of the picture the entire time and she’s probably never really dated (once again, i have more thoughts on that too but you know, i digress)
also i SUPER headcanon that he almost ALWAYS only refers to her as, “Ma,” unless it is a serious situation in which he uses ‘mother’ but i do NOT feel like he is a ‘mom’ person. at least for his own mother.
honestly these are just all my own headcanon i have no idea what people think about him :S
for me, i think him and Jacob are closer than Quil is to either of them. In my mind, when embry’s mom Tiffany first got to town, she became really good friends with Sarah Black and thus, Jacob and Embry have kind of been friends since birth, quil only coming in a little later maybe and just not having the same kind of friendship that embry and jake have
I think him and Leah secretly get each other. Like they don’t talk much or anything, but Embry never makes comments to or about her and doesn’t participate in the guys being absolute jerks to her.
also, he just guzzles that respect women juice. like, he was raised solely by his mother so like... he was taught to respect women and also i think this makes him more empathetic to other people which is why he wouldn’t be mean to leah or say mean things about her because he’d understand to a level and might even see pieces of his own mother in her because they both were screwed over by men and he never EVER wants to be that to anybody ever
probably plays guitar but NEVER shows anybody
usually the but of a joke between jake and quil.
also the decider in arguments between jake and quil
i have a zillion more but i’ll quit while i’m ahead
also
is a slut for muffins
QUIL ATEARA V
Canon:
he thinks he’s a ladies man (thinks)
more outgoing?
likes hanging out with friends
took his cousin to prom
Fanon:
so, so, so funny as in a total dork with a lot of unearned confidence
book smart but NOT street smart
prefers name brand foods over generic because it just ‘has that extra something something’ and also, class
loves to debate with jacob. he always ends up taking it somehow more seriously than jacob does.
i actually do not know why nobody talks about quil i feel like he’s super underrated and actually hilarious.
@teamjacobthot‘s one of this tag game mentioned he was a soundcloud rapper and i think i DIED so imma also go with that and second you there
very particular about how things are done
a lover of the puns
toy story is his favorite childhood film, and he announces it as so.
LEAH CLEARWATER
Canon:
angry and bitter
thinks nothing more than of sam
hates vampires
sassy
Fanon:
i absolutely LOVE practically every fanon i’ve ever seen of leah in the fandom like...ever. they are all so amazing and i actually just want tons and tons of fanfictions about all of them
Ngl, i really am a big AngelaxLeah fan
BUT
I PERSONALLY hc that leah gets fed up with being in the pack and she feels like there’s really nothing there for her. She ends up leaving la puzb to go off and explore the world-- she wants to see it and experience more than just the memories and the life that surrounds her in la push. she travels all over and often does so in wolf form when she can. I HC she imprints there-- on a real nice super cool lady from some other country. (this is another thing i could go on for days about, i will write a fanfic about it one day. ONE DAY i shall PREVAIL!)
Honestly, i really do like Leah as she was canon. I think that it was the way everybody acted around her that i would change and i feel like the fandom as a whole agrees on that
like yeah, Leah is a badass bitch with a great sense of humor. she’s witty and sarcastic and smart and wise and i just love her to pieces. everyone else just needs to wise up and be nicer
JACOB
Canon:
super supportive and kind and loving and understanding and THEN smeyer swooped in and DESTROYED MY BOY.
like, don’t even get me STARTED on my feelings about what she did to her OWN CHARACTER
i mean really
smeyer straight up didn’t know what to do with him so she did... all of THAT. it makes me want to wheep.
Fanon:
the fanons out there on Jacob are just... they are SO WONDERFUL and give me SO MUCH JOY
i’ve heard him being a mechanic obviously, i’ve heard about the HILARIOUS details of his friendship with like, alice and rosalie and emmett like... that shit is so funny i live for it
i could read jacob fanons all day
i guess personally, i just love to bits. he’s super patient. very funny but also is really understanding and can (and loves) to get into deep discussions about stuff and listen to other people’s passions and share his own.
purposefully pushes quil’s buttons so he can get a rise out of him because he LOVES their dumb bickering and enjoys a good debate
is also almost always right in those debates
quil probably won like... twice in all of history and it was based on some kind of weird trivia fact he learned in a biology class or something lol
i bet that when the time came he had kids (not with you-know-who obviously cause just...no), he’d be SUCH a great dad and he’d be SUPER hands-on with them, like always taking them places and teaching them how to do various stuff
and if one of his kids was really into something he didn’t know how to do, you KNOW his ass is up on youtube all night long learning how to do it so he can spend THAT MUCH MORE TIME with his kids
oh he’s just so sweet love him to pieces
RENESMESS
...I had to do this but i have a good reason:
Canon:
exists
Fanon:
absolutely does NOT exist
who?
the only ONLY acknowledgement i will give her is i read a fanon somewhere about how she HATES her name. like she is downright royally not okay with it and when she gets older and has to go to school for eternity with her family (weird. seriously so weird but i’m pushing through this) she decides to announce that she is only going by this other name (personally i feel like it’s Carlie because it’s still her middle name and jfd;akfsd but also because it’s A NORMAL NAME) and so she is never called renesmee again because that is straight up a monster name and even her nickname is a monster so like, ugh.
also, i REFUSE to believe that Jacob imprinted on her, okay? if she has to exist, he did NOT imprint on her and they can be buds or something but just... no. (i have so many issues with imprinting guys, i should just sit down and write a long post about it but the ENERGY and it isn’t like it’s not all things that have been said before. it’s more what I’d fix about it so it could still exist but not be a legit code word for grooming and an excuse for blatant p*d* grossness because that’s all it is and i HATE THAT)
so I don’t talk to anyone in the fandom really because i don’t really know how to start conversations like... at all. I really WANT to talk to people but I’m a chicken and i have a hard time, BUT, i really admire so many of the blogs on here and i LOVE so much of their content. Off the top of my head, i shall tag:
@chiefjacob @911esme @jacobblackredemptionblog @embrycallsmuffin @leahclearwaterdefensesquad AND anyone else who wishes to do this! it was so much fun! I say do it! and if you’ve already done it, i just tip my hat to you for being an awesome blog :)
seriously! tag me when you do it, i want to see your answers!!

My OC Universe: Rowan 96
Chapter 96 Summary: The angst isn’t over yet, as Peter and Rowan try to discuss what happened, and Cordelia has a harsh reaction to finding out what happened to him. (Taggalicious: @just-a-whumping-racoon-with-wifi, @much-ado-about-whumping, @abitefullofeverything, @whump-me-all-night-long, @sky-or-something-idfk and @tears-and-lilies)
Trigger Warnings: PTSD whumpee, mention of previous and domestic abuse.
Peter didn’t risk asking Rowan about his father until they were safely out of the city, the boy had clung to his contact the entire time, and made no sign of removing it.
“Are you sure you’re all right?” He asked gently, hoping not to start too violently.
“No,” Rowan whispered, shaking his head softly.
“Can I help you feel better?” He asked softly and Rowan shook his head again.
“I think I may be in shock,” He murmured. “I just, feel kind of empty and overwhelmed at the same time.” He glanced to Peter and looked down again shamefully.
“I didn’t even thank you for saving me from that man,” He scolded himself angrily. “I just got entirely distracted by my father, and I didn’t even have the manners to be grateful.”
“I know you’re grateful, Rowan,” Peter scoffed. “It’s not like I would have called him back if you didn’t immediately thank me for saving you. A good person doesn’t do good to be thanked. They do it because it’s right.” He paused to turn Rowan to face him and tilted his chin up. “You understand that, right? I’m not doing this for praise.”
“No, no, I know that,” Rowan replied quickly, nodding. “I just…good people also thank others for being good.”
“You are always so harsh on yourself, Rowan,” Peter smiled, gently releasing the boy. “I know you’re grateful. I know that, had you not been distracted by John, you would’ve thanked me.”
John.
“How, how much do you know of my father?” Rowan asked softly and Peter shrugged.
“For a long while he’s been buying from me. He offered a discount to me. He’s…he has a new family now,” Peter said cautiously, waiting for his reaction.
“I know about that.” Rowan murmured, it didn’t feel any better hearing it again.
“Oh, well, his wife sells their products from a market stall, sometimes his kids will go around and sell cookies on Christmas.” Peter explained in a soft voice. “He has a daughter, and two sons, they’re still young, no older than ten.”
“How long has he been here?”
“A-a few years before you arrived,” Peter admitted. “But I had no idea of your relationship to him, I swear.”
“No, of course, I know.” Rowan murmured softly. “What was he like?”
“Well…I found him to always be pleasant, interested in conversation and kind. I always liked him.” Peter said uncomfortably. “Not anymore, though, of course.”
“No, I don’t want your opinion on him to change purely because I don’t know how to feel.”
“Rowan, you were terrified of him!” Peter scoffed. “If that coward hadn’t gotten up so quickly I would have taken you away from him immediately!”
“I’m glad you didn’t.” Rowan whispered sheepishly and Peter turned to look at him curiously.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I hadn’t seen my father in ten years. While you were gone he told me how sorry he was and that he missed me, and I didn’t know if I could believe him. But I never wanted anything more than for him to love me.” He glanced at Peter as his blush deepened and began chewing his thumb. “Is that stupid?”
“What? Of course not!” Peter exclaimed. “It’s instinct, we want to be loved by our parents.”
“But I feel the same way about William sometimes, I mean, I know he was a bully, and that he was bad, but sometimes…I still do. Miss him.” There was silence and Rowan shook his head as tears of shame came to his eyes.
“I know it’s stupid! Gods, what’s wrong with me? I’m disgusting!” Rowan was enveloped in a tight hug and squeaked as Peter’s arms squeezed around him.
“Rowan,” Peter soothed. “Don’t be so cruel to yourself. You spent, three years, with the King, during that time he feigned affection towards you in a space where you had no one else, of course some part of you latched onto that kindness that he showed you.” He began stroking Rowan’s hair softly and curled down to soften his voice more. “And as for your father, I never knew that he was someone different, all I ever knew him as was polite and compassionate. If you wanted a character confirmation from me, then I never saw a hint of malice in any of his actions in the seven years I’ve known him. But you are still entitled to your opinion, and if you never want to see him again then I won’t let him see you.” Rowan nodded softly and did as much as he could to return the hug, his fingers unable to touch as his arms wrapped around Peter’s ribs.
“You’re so kind to me, Peter,” Rowan murmured, curling into the embrace. “B-but it’s a little bit too tight,” Peter released Rowan like he was on fire and looked down at him cautiously.
“I’m so sorry, are you all right?” Rowan nodded softly, despite still standing with his arms wrapped around Peter, and made no sign of moving. “Do-do you still want a hug?” He asked and Rowan nodded again, he softly lay his arms around the boy again and stroked his back comfortingly.
“I feel like, maybe, I have so much trouble in thinking nicely of myself, because I don’t think I deserve to,” Rowan murmured quietly, startling Peter. “My whole life I was treated like I wasn’t worth anything, and that I was lucky to even be alive. Even though I know it isn’t true, I still don’t really know how to think any differently.” Peter looked down in surprise and curled his neck down to nudge Rowan’s crown with his nose.
“We can figure out a way to change the way you think, can’t we?” He suggested and Rowan nodded.
“I-I like the sound of that.” He muttered.
~
Cordelia met them pleasantly when they arrived home, Rowan saw her gentle smile as she came down the veranda steps to meet them and forced a similar one to his lips.
“What’s wrong?” She asked, tilting his head up.
“N-nothing,” He replied softly.
“Rowan,” She began quietly, looking at him like an exasperated mother would. “I know that something happened. Did you not like the town?” He grumbled unhappily and shook his head.
“No, I really liked it, I just…” He hesitated and tilted his head to the side nervously. “While Peter was with-while he was inside, a guard attacked me.” He murmured and she frowned, releasing him apologetically.
“I’m sorry,” She said, stepping back. “What happened?” She asked, turning to Peter.
“Olivia came and got me, and I scared him away.” Peter answered carefully.
“You only ‘scared him away’?” Cordelia asked in anger.
“No, I chased after him and made sure he didn’t try it again.” Peter answered. “But I was cautious of saying such in front of him.” Rowan felt the tension between the pair and stepped away from them, hand twisting into his shirt as he instinctively gnawed at his thumb.
“Why did you even leave him alone?”
“I didn’t want him to have to wait while I did my business! I didn’t intend for someone to come along!” Rowan looked at them in surprise and crouched to curl into Olivia’s form. He ended up sitting on the grass, Olivia standing within his space, blocking him from the pair.
“Well, no one intends to be raped, but it happens anyway, doesn’t it?” Cordelia snapped. “With a boy like him, he shouldn’t be left alone!”
“I don’t want to smother him! He’s a grown man!”
“People like him scream ‘victim’ to those who would harm them! And there’s always people willing to hurt the weak!”
“Not all of us live life so pessimistically!”
“When he’s already been kidnapped and raped and enslaved and abused, it would be stupid to not err on the side of caution! What would have happened if Olivia hadn’t gotten you?”
“Oh, well, who the fuck knows? I just caught the man kneeling over him, I wonder how it would have ended?”
“D-da-dandelion!”
Rowan’s voice was barely a squeak, but it was in a pitch higher than their argument and their eyes were instinctively drawn to the boy who was nestled on the ground, hidden behind his protector.
“Oh, my Gods, Rowan, I’m so sorry!” Peter gasped, falling to his knees and leaning towards the creature. “Are you all right?” Olivia growled softly and Peter retracted his hand carefully.
“No! No, Olivia, don’t, please!” Rowan whimpered, wrapping his arms around her neck.
“No, it’s all right, Rowan,” Peter said softly. “I’ll stay back here, I’m sorry for upsetting you,” Rowan looked at him over Olivia’s spine and sniffed.
“Do you want us to go somewhere else?” Cordelia asked softly. “We shouldn’t have argued in front of you.”
“Yes,” Rowan murmured. “Go away. Just, leave me alone for a while.” Peter pulled himself to his feet reluctantly and stepped back from the boy.
“We’ll be inside, don’t stay out too long, all right?” He said sadly. “Well, I’m really sorry, Rowan.” He added dejectedly as they turned towards the house.
“All right,” Rowan murmured in reply and turned away from the pair, hiding his face in Olivia’s shoulder.

@mysteriousdbzgt: Hi oh-lali-lali-lali-lalipop! Thank you for your ask. First of all, thanks for asking this question here on my personal (and also for the follow over on t&bftw, welcome aboard! :D) I think you can probably tell from here, that I’m a huge supporter of them becoming romantically involved lol I don’t shy about that here, but I like to present a more neutral stance over on my news dedicated blog, to not influence others of my personal opinions. With regards to the new season, as much as I would be supportive of it, I unfortunately highly doubt that they would become “official” in S2 or anything in the future, but will remain extremely dedicated and attentive to one another, regardless of their constant bickering. The creators of the show are more than aware of the popularity of the “couple”, being constantly popular at doujinshi events and the continuous amounts of merchandise that they bring out, which regularly focuses on the main duo rather than all of the Heroes all the time. The fandom is primarily dominated by women, when originally the show was supposed to target men and “salarymen”, but attracted a completely different demographic that they hadn’t anticipated. I can only think that’s mainly because of the appeal of K&B. Also not helped by some of the staff’s, let’s just say, “unfiltered” thoughts when they discuss about K & B in older interviews, centering around “love” and other similar notions. I think they still want to keep this series aimed towards a male demographic, even if the results don’t line up as they expect. But highly ironically, it’s what makes the show successful, so I doubt they would want to change how they portray Kotetsu and Barnaby’s relationship. Personally I would be absolutely over the moon if they did become “official”, because they’re just perfect for one another (hehe) and it could just break so many standard conventions/boundaries on how media portrays same-sex relationships, if done appropriately, and not be labelled with any genre tags like “BL”, “yaoi” or anything similar, and still simply just be a “drama”, “superhero” tale, with the two main males eventually getting together but not make a big song and dance about it. If we want to normalise LGBT relationships within our media and what we consume, then we need to drop these tags and portray them in a healthy manner, which I think the show does well between them both. I believe that the staff have the talent to pull it off, they just need to be cautious on how they do it. Like you said, how FE is presented in the show which such great self confidence about themselves and who they are, really shows that they can write this. Also T&B’s spiritual successor show, Double Decker (who had a lot of the same staff) tackles some LGBT themes pretty well, so they could absolutely do it. But yeah, I don’t think they’ll become “official” unfortunately. But if anything, I anticipate that KxB will most likely be working even closer together in S2, so they’ll be more in tune with one another, and possibly open up even more to each other than they did before. Hopefully they’ll be over the huge feuds and split apart phase, which The Rising focused on (they’ll still bicker all the time, but that’s just how they are), so we can see just how far their relationship has come and changed for the better. Anyway this is probably way too long (sorry), but always interested to hear your thoughts too! :)
Heya! Before I start I just wanna say thank you so much for taking the time to give me such a thorough reply, it is incredibly well thought out and written! I also want to say I am so freaking sorry you had to type out my monstrosity of a name (seriously didn’t think about that when making the joke lol). Oh, and I’m equally sorry for the formatting of the reply... really had no clue how to go about it, so I just defaulted to going about it the roleplayer way haha. Anyways, for starters, I think I should say that I actually agree with you a lot. You see, logically I think it feels highly unlikely they’d make them “official” in the new season. I’m not sure if I feel like it’s unlikely because I, someone who’s in the LGBTQ community, am a pessimist (aka, I’m negative regardless of proof) who is use to companies not delivering on it/assume companies won’t deliver on it.... or if I’m genuinely, but unconsciously, picking up on Sunrise’s stance of “not gonna happen”. Despite all that I still feel stupidly hopeful about it (y’know, heart louder than the mind and all that jazz)... and I guess for the sake of the discussion I’ll break down why! lol So, I got into the fandom.... around the time of The Rising, I think, so anywhere from 2014 to 2015. I instantly fell in love with it all, but I did end up falling out of the loop for awhile (being a teenager and all that). Recently (recently being that I finished S1 on Friday, watched The Rising on Sunday, and now I’m here lol) I got back into it and.... wow, a lot of it is the same, and.... at the same time it felt like I had so much more to process. It’s still as amazing as ever, if not even more so, and just like with everything else I love with my entire being I started to analyze it and read into it (maybe a little bit too much so lol).  In all honesty, KxB seriously stood out even more so than it did last time for me (I don’t know if it’s because I’m now accepting of my sexuality or what) and while it’s not actually the best part of the series to me (God, Barnaby’s arc means so much to me what with me struggling with cPTSD, but that story is best left on my RP blog) I do have to admit that the pairing is... incredibly meaningful, and beautiful. Moving for me, really.  I guess the following observations, and hopeful thinking that came after it, could be deduced to me just wearing shipper goggles, but considering my habit of over analyzing and breaking things down... I do try to make predictions and opinions logically, and with that in mind it’s why I’m so stuck on the “hopeful thinking”, since a tiny bit of logical thinking is fueling it. Tiger & Bunny is about human relationships, really. For a show focusing on NEXTs... it’s really about humanity, corruption, society, relationships... and KxB all along the first season is written as an undertone, like a slow burn (which is entirely fitting, and seriously makes any relationship better), which fits because the first season is, in actuality, not focused on that (the plot being bigger than we can see and all that). In the end, having rewatched it, I also noticed how, really, the undertone is written in such a way that.... it feels like Barnaby is the one with the “crush” (or is the first one to realize it) which... kinda fits with the old statements from the crew. Kotetsu the forever oblivious one who hasn’t had an epiphany yet (although if I’m being honest, The Rising seems to have this “side-plot” feeling of Kotetsu having the epiphany when he realizes what he’s lost, which is what I meant by the flow of the series somewhat feels like it’s building towards it)...  .... There’s also the whole “leaving it to interpretation thing” they said back then. Which, I have to agree with some other people that it feels like it’s just a way of saying “it’s romantic but we don’t want to take that risk”.... and that was back around 2011. It’ll have been decade since then when S2 is released, and, while a decade is just a decade, a lot has changed on a societal basis since then. Even during this decade long gap Sunrise has become more bold with their representation, whether it be Double Decker! or The Rising.... almost like they’re testing the waters...  and what better way to champion representation than to make two main characters the representation? This franchise is... so human in it’s story, and the meaning doing such a thing would have for so many people... in a way, I think out ways some of the risks. I feel like the build up is there, the want is there (tbh seeing posts on tumblr of people talking about how they hope they’ll get a kiss in S2 or something “official” like that also fueled this)... it just depends on whether they’ll feel afraid or not. Which is, really, why I asked for your opinion. You do such good work at trying to bridge the gap between the Japanese fandom/Sunrise and the English speaking community (which, btw, you are amazing at, I can’t thank you enough for the work you do), and I knew you’d be more informed on Sunrise’s attitude and statements, as well as the general opinions and depositions of the Japanese fans. In the end, I can “read into” things all I want, but it won’t matter if you can’t understand the one who pulls the strings... and because of that I wanted to know your opinion.  I’m so so sorry this got so long!! I’m really horrible at summarizing myself, so this turned into a major ramble.... I’m gonna wrap it up now before this turns into a novel haha. Again, thank you so much for responding to my question and for being open to discussing it, it means so much! I truly respect your opinion, since it helps me clear my own thoughts, as well as gives me a dose of reality so I don’t get my hopes up too much... I guess in the end though, a part of me is going to continue to think that they just might have the heart to do it, irregardless lol. I look forwards to seeing what you have to say about what I’ve written here!
