As much as I adore Lilo & Stitch: The Series and Kim Possible, I don't think my brain returns to any Saturday Cartoon Adventures more than:
Aladdin: The Series - Remember the one where the cat goddess is kidnapping children and turning them into monsters? Or the one where there's a prophecy that Aladdin will die? Or the one where Genie is being hunted by the last of a race of magic-vampires? Or the one where Aladdin is being possessed by the vanquished sorcerer Mozenrath's (what a name) spirit through his magic glove? Or the one where Aladdin literally crosses over with Hercules?
Tumblr media
The Little Mermaid: The Series - I think about that episode where she gets sucked down into the trippy, surreal Wonderland trench and can't escape probably every week. Go to Disney Plus and find that episode, it's called "Charmed," it's worth it.
Tumblr media
The Legend of Tarzan - Like every episode is burned in my brain forever. The Opar episodes where he'd rather die than choose anybody but Jane, even after he thinks she's dead. The one with the Mad Elephant where Tantor thinks he's contracted the same illness. The one with DINOSAURS. The one where the new radio tower makes every animal go insane and try to kill Tarzan and Jane. The one where a different ape challenges Tarzan for leadership and WINS. The one where Jane's friends come to the jungle to rescue her. The one where Tarzan gets locked in like a prison camp with Teddy Roosevelt?! The one with a magical healing albino gorilla?! The one with Kerchak's old rival Tublat coming to try and take over the gorilla family in a series of traps? ! The one with the giant snake?! The one where Tarzan gets bit by a spider and almost DIES?! The one where Clayton's sister comes and forces Tarzan to choose between saving himself from poison or saving all of his loved ones from several death traps in time?! The one where the African tribes from the Tarzan books help Tarzan find a cure for a deadly disease in special two-part episodes?! The one with a WWII spy coming and trying to steal Jane's affections while simultaneously looking for war information he left in a music box he sent to her?! WHY IS THIS NOT ON DISNEY+?!
Tumblr media
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command - Skilled. Courageous. And ever-vigilant. Leaping into action, it's BUZZ LIGHTYEAR, of STAR! COMMAND! I'm tired of having to dig around the Internet to watch episodes like The Wirewolf where an old Space Ranger buddy gets turned into a machine-mauling cybernetic wolf monster by the light of a radioactive moon, or the one where an "energy vampire" named N0S4-A2 tries to eat Buzz's robot friend.
Tumblr media
Come on. We got The Little Mermaid: The Series. That Tarzan & Jane movie isn't enough! WHERE ARE THE REST OF THEM, DISNEY

If frozen can get three movies and tangled is allowed a tv show and the first 8 princesses (sans Pocahontas) can get numerous remakes & spinoff media, then moana can get a sequel and PATF can get a show. Keep in mind tangled came out a year after PATF & completely overshadowed it & frozen is still popular compared to moana. So yes Tiana deserves her own show and theme ride Moana deserves a sequel and raya and wish deserve second chances.

do you have anything planned in terms of the aladdin characters for your disney parents series? cause as much as king of thieves was a banger of a movie, i feel they missed an opportunity with giving us details about aladdin's mom. hell, in the animated series, we barely got anything about jasmine's mom.
Yes! I haven't written up a backstory for the Aladdin Parents yet but ive got some small germs of ideas.
And happily enough Disney has actually given us a real design and even name for Aladdin's mother from a comic books story, here's Zena!
Tumblr media
I also subscribe to the scrapped Aladdin 3 idea of revealing Mozenrath, a villain from the TV show, was Aladdin's half-brother, so I'll include my oc of his mother in the story as well, a sorceress named Morgiana (name taken from a character in the original 40 Theives story)
Tumblr media
And finally I did find one design for Jasmine's mother, who've ive decided (for now anyway, might change) to name Badroulbadour, as this was the Princess's original name in the og Aladdin story.

I went back to my post where I wrote that once Red Dagger shows up in “Ms. Marvel”, the series becomes a reverse harem anime. I have to make a slight correction. In my post, I wrote that Kareem was going to be the “mysterious, edgy loner with a heart of gold” (I don’t read the Kamala Khan comics, so that was just my impression of him when I saw the promotional stills).
I take it back. He does have a heart of gold, but he’s more like a sassy, dashing vigilante who flirts while he’s in a fight. Basically, I thought he’d be this guy:

But he’s more like this guy:

Winnie-The-Pooh Blood and Honey: The Liberating Hidden Message
Tumblr media
Just to make it clear, I am not going to watch the movie, but I still appreciate its hidden message, which is not only intelligent, but it is a wake-up call.
I absolutely adore Winnie the Pooh and even as a little girl, one of my favourite cartoons was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which was made during the time Disney actually still held its work to a high standard. Even the other absolutely adorable live action show Pooh Corner holds up as being sweet, cute and great for kids. To say Disney really did wonders for Winnie the Pooh is an understatement, but the operative word here is “did”. Now, the more modern Winnie the Pooh works do not feel like something out of a child’s imagination anymore which is depressing as that was the whole premise of Winnie the Pooh: he, his friends and the entire world was made up by a boy named Christopher Robin. Speaking of which, I find it disrespectful that the character Christopher Robin was dropped for a long time from the series and was only brought back later in a way that I feel did not honour him at all. At times, I felt like they were making fun of the guy and childhood in general which is sad. It is not just Winnie the Pooh who has fallen from grace either. A lot of modern Disney works lack any love behind them, and it shows because Disney is making new movies and shows way too often. Plus, they are made to please modern audiences instead of the intended audiences. Just look at how Disney+ has a new show or film almost every week. The only pocket that takes its time and it shows because it actually produces amazing work 90% of the time is the Star Wars franchise. Yes, it has flops, but you can count them on your fingers on one hand and even then, their flops tend to try harder than all of Disney’s other pieces as of late which includes the Marvel Universe.
But in the midst of all this, someone decided to come up with this;
Tumblr media
No one would think of making a Winnie the Pooh horror movie, but in its defense, has anyone thought of doing anything with Winnie the Pooh at all instead of waiting for Disney to do something new with it? There is a deep, dark yet liberating message behind this daring film and it is not about the bear;
Disney does not own Winnie the Pooh. Nor does it own Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, The Fox and the Hound, Hercules, Aladdin, Mulan, Robin Hood or any of the princesses from classic literature. All of these pieces are public property meaning anyone is free to adapt them as they wish. The problem is that everyone has been too afraid to try because in the back of our minds, it will never compare to what Disney did.
This fear of touching something that always was free for us to use is crippling us and it is depriving future generations of a chance at seeing a classic tale be reimagined in a way that truly is amazing rather than as another empty cash grab. In other words, the true message behind Winnie-the-Pooh Blood and Honey is: take back our public property.
And believe it or not, when artists did, they made amazing things. The thing is not all of them are in the form of films (though some are). I could even recommend a list. And while they may not be giants like the Disney adaptations, they are worth your time and dare I say, better in some cases. Here are some of the non-Disney adaptations of classic tales I recommend.
Ever After: which is a reimagining of Cinderella that replaces all magic with feminist elements and get this; Leonardo Da Vinci is part of the main cast.
Gepetto: a webcomic adaptation of Pinocchio with a science fiction twist along with all kinds of other twists.
Megan Kearny’s Beauty & the Beast: a webcomic adaptation of the classic tale which takes on a more gothic tone and also explores the trauma behind the Beast’s life story.
Snow White and the Huntsman: a film where Snow White is on equal heroic footing with her “prince” and is a great watch if you love Lord or the Rings or Game of Thrones.
Beauty and the Beast (TV Series): a reimagined version of the classic where “Beauty” is a badass detective and “Beast” is a super-cyborg soldier making the setting more superhero like in all the fun ways.
Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs: a deconstructed version of Snow White where the dwarfs are the ones who actually need saving and it is the first ever version of Snow White to be plus sized.
Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp (1982 anime film): this film follows the original tale almost to the letter with a few differences.
Splash: a reimagining of The Little Mermaid that takes place in the 1980s which also happens to be one Tom Hanks’ best classic movies.
Ponyo: another reimagining of The Little Mermaid except the two main characters are children and it was made by Chibli Studios, so you know it will be high quality.
Penelope: the most unique reimaging of Beauty and the Beast there is because in this case, the titular character is both the Beauty and Beast.
Let us make the list even longer, friends. Let us take back our public property. Let us stop comparing our work to Disney before we have even written it.
EDIT: Demon’s Mirror: I forgot about this one. This is a reimagining of The Snow Queen which is no Frozen. I would classify it as a horror-adventure that does not shy away from body horror, trauma and fates worse than death.

the Aladdin TV series is definitely not perfect, with awkward animation, cringey gags, and less than stellar 90s writing, but it has its moments
like the time when Jasmine is tricked by a disguised Mirage to buy lotion to keep her skin clear and beautiful only to turn into a snake monster and is so afraid that Aladdin won't love her anymore but he loves her so much that he helps her find a cure and when the cure seems to be gone forever, he willingly puts the snake lotion on himself so to become a snake-man so he can be with his true love
or that time when Sadira warped reality to switch places with Jasmine with only the animals noticing something's wrong and when they bring the street-rat!Jasmine into the palace and she meets Aladdin, their love is so powerful, even as total strangers, that it literally overcomes time and space and realigns reality skbgkhhgksd
and lest we forget the bonkers yet brilliant Hercules/Aladdin crossover episode where Hades and Jafar team up to get their nemeses to fight each other, only to have it backfire spectacularly (yes, I know this is technically in the Hercules series, but they're canonically in the same tv universe so it counts!)

I never know with Letterboxd so I'm logging this here too
This is so good. I watched it all in one sitting. It's so beautiful and dynamic. It reminded me of The Lion King and Aladdin: "I laugh in the face of danger"; Poor boy and rich girl; Poor boy shows rich girl the marketplace of the commoners. It's cute.

Dearest @i-want-my-iwtv thank you for tagging me! I love to do this kind of tag games. How lovely to see an animation included, I chose one as well. I’m a big fan of TV series and especially German ones so there are few of them. Old and new productions. 🤓
1. Babylon Berlin (2017-2021): What a way to introduce us the reality of post war era in Weimar Germany. Class society, political wars, war traumas and in the midst of all this are crimes to be solved. Perfect ending titles. 2. Anders als die Andern (1919): The film is one of the first sympathetic portrayals of homosexuals in cinema. Released on May 28 1919, when German Republic was only 6-months-old. Young Conrad Veidt in the leading role.  3. Halt and Catch Fire (2014-2017): I’ve only seen season 1, but it already proved how effective it is when all the drama happens around one thing, in this case the evolution of home computers. Talented cast and script. Lee Pace is horrifyingly ravishing. 4. Viktor und Viktoria (1933): Best musical ever! The humor of the director & screenwriter Reinhold Schünzel, who teases us with the gender role-playing and cross dressing. 5. Das Boot (2018-2022): Imo Germans are the best storytellers of WWII and the N*zi regime so this show is one of the good examples to watch. 6. The Red Shoes (1948): Powell’s & Pressburger’s finest. The first 15 min nailed me and made me wonder why on Earth haven’t I seen this before. 7. Aladdin (1992): The message of the film ‘be yourself’ has always pleased me among all that Oriental beauty & magic. I draw the characters as paper dolls back then. 8. The Thief of Bagdad (1940): When the villain (elderly Conrad Veidt) is far more attractive than the hero. Beautiful Technicolor adventure film. 9. Corpus Christi (2019): Is both innocent and funny but also terrifying and sad. Opens up the religious side of the society. Polish language is my ASMR. Tagging: @missholson @wicked-felina @xxhellonursexx @auburnandamberangel and anyone who wants to join this! ♥︎

Do you have a map of all the kingdoms?
Gosh I wish. I've tried. But I'm not much of a mapmaker, plus the Everrealm canonically has like, over 140 kingdoms or something so yeah I don't have that much patience xD
Apparently the production crew of Sofia the First have a full map they used for reference, but they haven't released it 😔
Best I can do for you is a list of all the Kingdoms I've been able to find mentioned, a lot of which came from the Sofia Wiki so kudos to those guys:
