The Talon Saga + D&D Classes
Ember- Rogue (Assassin): One of the most cut and dry decisions, Ember was trained to be one of Talon's elite assassins, and doesn't dissapoint. From her stealth to her ability to neutralize enemies as quickly and silently as possible, she is Lilith's protege through and through.
Garret- Fighter (Battlemaster): Garret, someone who's spent the majority of his life in a militarized organization and whose only purpose in life for 13 years was to serve that organization, his fighting style is honed and perfected, with a lot of variation as to what he can do in the field of combat. However, like this class, his skills outside of combat can feel a bit lacking as he struggles to function in a non-militarized society.
Riley- Rogue (Inquisitive)/Paladin (Oathbreaker): Riley started his career in Talon as part of its spy network, dealing in information and sabotage— while Inquisitive rogues aren't built for hack and slash combat, they operate greatly from the shadows, where Riley tries to stay. His status as a paladin speaks towards his devotion to his cause and community, as well as his choice to sever ties with Talon and actively work against them.
Wes- Wizard (Divination)/Cleric (Knowledge Domain): Wes' specialty was, is, and will always be in support, not combat. His roots are in information gathering from hacking, finding enemy weak spots for other people to exploit and manipulating things from behind the curtain. As he left Talon, though, he not only gained a medical skillset, but also found something worth believing in— the thing that he devotes himself is not a god, but instead the underground that he and Riley formed, and that he works tirelessly to preserve.
Jade- Sorcerer (Storm Sorcery): While all dragons seem to have some sort of innate magic, Jade is the only one in the group who grew up in an environment where she could actually hone it into something usable, and doesn't hesitate to do so— as an eastern dragon, she's associated with water and storm, making her magic primarily weather-based.
Tristan- Fighter (Arcane Archer)/Rogue (Assassin): While Tristan may have his roots in traditional fighting styles, and can hold his own in hand-to-hand, he functions best far away from where the action is, where he can calculate, fire, and do a ridiculous amount of damage in one blow without ever being seen. While he shares a class with Garret and a subclass with Ember, the combination makes him unique from both, and especially suited for his place on the battlefield.
Mist- Rogue (Inquisitive)/Warlock (Archfey): With the skillset of a Basilisk, Mist may thrive in the shadows, gathering blackmail and issuing threats, but has also gained the favor of someone much more powerful than herself, who provides her with intel and resources, so long as she follows his orders. Her focuses, both as a rogue and a warlock, are in deception at their core, making her allegience a mystery to all but herself and her employer.
Dante- Bard (College of Whispers): Dante's skillset is reliant on his charisma, in convincing people to do what he wants, and in manipulating others to his benefit. He's made his den in a pit of vipers, and he wears that as a badge of honor.
Conclusion: There are so many rogues in this party

Hiii idk if I'm doing this exactly right but I thought it'd be fun!
This is kinda basic my baddd
Element
The user can control any element. The amount of air the user can use is limited to how long they can hold their air. The amount of water and earth they can control is dependent on how much they weigh. They can control about twice their mass. Earth is hard to control and is stubborn, strong forceful movements are needed to control earth. Water is delicate and needs precision to be able to control it to it's fullest. Fire is limited by how much energy the user has. Using too much energy will cause cells to die and lead to them passing out. They can't control the element if they have nothing to draw from.
No relation to the cannon
No relation to pre-existing characters
X class 1a can be platonic or romantic
class 1a with a lifebender that they will protect with their l i v e s
pairing: platonic!class 1a x gn!reader (they/them)
genre: fluff! fun!!
warnings: none!
author's notes: mhm! you did it right, and it's not basic! the idea is common, but the details you added make it very special and interesting! i had a ton of fun writing this :D
i also didn't add any relation to canon, but did make reader a child of a non-canon hero couple
ALSO YEAH I. I KNOW I NOW HAVE A PATTERN OF FOCUSING ON KACCHAN FOR A WHOLE LIKE THREE POINTS BUT IM LIKE IN LOVE? SO LEAVE ME BE-
Tumblr media
expectations were fucking high, ok? you didn't have a choice as to whether or not you'd succeed; you HAD to.
not only were you the child of two very prominent heroes who happen to be alumni of UA themselves, but you had an incredibly powerful quirk.
hell, it was so strong that theorists started using it as a prime example of quirk singularity theory.
of course your quirk wasn't perfect, and if misused, the consequences were very dangerous.
this meant a lot of training and discipline on your part, something that all your peers of course needed and utilized but you had to do almost two times more. elements wasn't just any quirk, and that was clear during the initial training process in your new hero costumes.
there was half-hot, half-cold and now someone who could control the damn elements? jesus was that battle... interesting-
todoroki has the benefit of focusing on two areas, and both come soley from him, his body. you had to make use of what was around you, and you had four different areas to master. fair to say he was a bit more advanced than you.
that didn't mean you didn't catch him off guard when the ice was creeping up on you and your partner and suddenly it just went up. yes. up.
with patient, focused, graceful movement, you were able to manipulate his ice,, since it's literally just very very cold water. you weren't able to control all of it, but definitely a solid amount, snd the temperature left shoji, his partner, stunned for a few moments, almost literally frozen.
shoto eventually still got the W, but dAMN WAS THAT WILD-
you and shoto have this silent understanding throughout the rest of the year that this was a competition, though he was far more aggressive about it. you were still willing to be friends (and eventually you are) but for a long time he's like "im not here to make friends"
(sure you're not, you fruity son of a-)
you're kind, and a great leader, but you tend to sit back and mind your own business unless told to do otherwise. you're not there to be miserable, but you're not there to get into drama outside of the situations already planted in front of you.
you're a lot like shoji, ojiro, etc. in that sense, and everyone really respects that.
PLUS YOUR QUIRK IS FUCKING COOL AND EVEN BAKUGOU IS HESITANT TO FUCK W YOU-
and omg omg omg omg yes yes yES YOU AND KODA END UP VEING BEST FRIENDS AND YOU'RE NEVER. EVER. E V E R . gonna change my mind
yes, he's quiet at first, but my BOY HE OPENS UP TO YOU W TIME I PROMISE. he gets closer w people through quality time tbh and acts of service. yall work sooo well together, esp in different terrains! you can bring ocean animals to him like the waves in moana hehe and he can speak to the fish to get them to help yall 🥺
and the bugs in the earth!! and the birds in the air!!! and you work so so well together it's really great!!!!!
🥺 y'all can literally just sit in nature together, under a tree and feeling super connected to it all and to each other,, yes y'all are super ultra mega besties 🥺
people tbh entranced by your ability to go between the four elements. like the grace in your movements, your ability to go from fluid movement into strong, sharp movements to absolute peaceful focus and aH you're so cool. AND YOU GET SO MUCH BETTER AND SWITCHING THROUGHOUT WITH TIME
YOU FUCKING BOSS YOUR PROVISIONAL LICENSE TEST TBH LIKE 😳 YOU A T E FR 😭
AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SPORTS FESTIVAL, YOU LEFT NO C R U M B S. NONE.
HELL, YOU BEAT BAKUGOU'S ASS, YOU ALMOST GOT HIM TO TAP OUT AND HONESTLY HE'S KINDA SCARED FOR YEAR TWO SPORTS FEST
DEKU AND TODO TOO
yes, you're in the top four fs.
aizawa a lil scared tbh.
well like
the class is as time goes on. you keep getting stronger and stronger. but with this, cells were dying quick.
somewhere near the end of the first year, you were forced to begin a regular meetings with a very specific doctor who had a cell regeneration quirk. down the road, like mirio, you cross your fingers a little tighter on eri's quirk progress. ofc you kept it to yourself, though.
outside of that, you kept to your sessions. it still didn't stop the passing out when you pressed too hard, though, and it worried everyone. the harder you trained, the more often they happened.
so, in the same way they'd bOnk deku when he keeps breaking his damn bones, they are willing to bOnk you if you don't fUCKING REST-
REST, BITCH, YOU DESERVE IT,, YOU NEED IT PLEASE IT'S GONNA BE OKAY YOU DON'T NEED TO BE AT 100 ALL THE TIME :((((
but yes they love you v much
esp koda
hehe i love that...

REGNUM [L.H] - Chapter 4
Author´s Note: Here´s Chapter 4 of my king!luke fanfic, here you can check the other chapters: Intro - C1 - C2 - C3
Word count: 1,456
Tumblr media
A few minutes ago, Ashton and I had wandered away from the path that indicated the correct way to go through the garden; "The right thing is not always the right thing to do," he´d said.
I began a round of rather informal questions as we continued to walk around.
“Your turn, has anyone ever conquered that heart of yours before?” He asked.
“Not really, it's a... territory that hasn't been explored or not much.”
That was true, I've never had a relationship with anyone before. Since I was a little girl I only had time for the duties that a princess in training has to do. I had flirted with some, yes, but I promised myself to keep those moments to myself. Besides, my mother's words always echoed in my head; "Wanting and needing are different things, to reign you don't need a man... but if someday you want him, go after him".
“What about you?” I asked.
“No, not at the moment. I've had lovers, of course, but in the end... I return to the throne alone.”
“Explain to me, since you and Lauren are kings... what will happen when one of you gets married?”
The subject had some relevance for me: it was a mystery that was not described in the books or exposed in the classes, a singular case.
“If that happens... when that happens," he corrected himself, "then the other abdicates the throne. We made that pact when my father died.”
Covenants, promises, and favors were of high importance to everyone in the three kingdoms. Believing someone else's word was difficult, but whoever did not keep it should be prepared to lose his honor and deal with the consequences.
We remained silent for a moment; I didn't know how to follow the talk.
“Tell me, what did you think of the dinner?” Ashton asked, encouraging our passage. “Lauren said that the decoration was a lot, but in my opinion, it's more appropriate to use our colors.”
“The food was delicious, I didn't know such exquisite things existed.” I looked at it out of the corner of my eye. He didn't say anything, that's not why we were here. “You don't want to know that, do you? We came here for another reason.”
He blinked as if he had been taken by surprise, maybe he had. It wasn't on purpose, just an accident.
He raised his eyebrows to indicate a bench in the middle of the garden, surrounded by flowers as we were now.
We took a seat. I didn't bother to remove my arm from his until he did.
 And he didn't.
“I noticed that you were a bit strange with His Majesty King Luke," he said Luke´s title in a tone close to mockery.
I couldn't tell him the things Luke had said about me, except that I believed them myself. The truth was that I felt small, an heiress from one country staying in another without an expiration date, hoping to bring them together... soon without my family, without answers, and power.
I couldn't tell him that, not exactly.
“You know Luke, his attitude and... his existence, in general, has overwhelmed me a bit.”
The hand that I had free approached slowly and caressed my cheek delicately as if touching the outline of a bubble.
“Your situation is not easy. I know you are not telling me everything I think you are not telling me anything... but I understand. You are afraid.”
As accurate as he was, I didn't admit it. Although I had liked his comfort.
“I have nothing to do here, at least not now. I don't know if I'm any good at this moment and that's... I don't like it, it's not good for me. It is frustrating.”
He nodded, understanding every word. His eyes were very close to mine. I took his hand resting on my cheek and gently pushed it away.
He was still the King of Lauxwell. As attractive, understandable, and friendly as he was, I couldn't forget such detail.
“I think the answer to your sorrows is closer than you think... How do you think the leaders we know came about?”
I took a breath.
“Each one had their impulse and purpose based on their interests and of course, their environment, ideals, values, needs... their geographical location and family tree have a great influence too. Oh, and it depends a lot on the psychological state they were in when-”
He placed a finger over my lips, suddenly silencing them with a loving smile. He pushed it away when he saw me surprised.
“Even if I could sit and listen to you quote the entire dictionary from memory, let's focus on the first part. They had a purpose, just like you, and they followed a path to achieve it. Moreover, they knew how to take control when they were given an opportunity.”
My purpose at that time was to have power. I was stuck in the shattered remains of what once seemed to be my future.
“You are a smart woman, you will think about how to do it and if you need help I will be with you every step of the way.”
He was close, very close, his eyes looked especially beautiful in the moonlight. I allowed myself to lose a second in them, imagining what it would feel like to see them after a kiss. His eyes came down to my lips, his hand placed on my cheek as just minutes before, the caress of his thumb made me surrender to the touch. I approached, the warnings in my head went unnoticed, what was a kiss under the moon? innocent, pure, vulnerable.
“Ahem... “
We both jumped out of the seat, taking a few steps away from the sound of a voice in the darkness. When I looked for the emissary all traces of happiness in me vanished.
“I would have regretted the interruption, believe me, but your faces were very good... “
Luke walked forward as if to let us know that he was there and had seen it all. Or worse, listened.
“What can we do for you, Your Majesty?”
Luke let out a raw, unfunny, cynical laugh.
“You can't help me at all. She can, I need her for the official business. It has to do with Maredale.” He looked at me, pure malice he let me see. “Are you coming with me, Princess?”
“Right away.”
I didn't turn to see Ashton, I knew he would understand and I followed Luke down the dark path back to the castle. Once inside, he started walking so fast that I had trouble keeping up with him.
“Will you tell me what this is all about?” I asked as we walked up the stairs.
He shook his head. I had a buffet and we stopped outside my room.
“Well?”
I looked forward to his words. Was he regretting keeping me here as my mother had asked?
Or maybe it was bad news, I couldn't think of anything that could go wrong in Maredale.
“You're welcome.” He said without further ado. He turned around and started walking down the hall.
You're welcome?
“What?” I walked over to him and stopped him in his tracks. He turned his eyes. “What happened to Maredale? What was the official business?” He smiled mischievously. “There was no official business, was there?”
He laughed out loud. The urge to hit him grew and grew inside me. I frowned and crossed my arms until he fell silent.
“Come on, it was fun! Stop looking at me as if I've interrupted something, princess... oh, right! a kissing session with the "oh-so-hot" King of Lauxwell.”
“Shut up!” I shouted. “It's not funny. It's not funny, Luke. You used the name Maredale in vain.”
“As if you didn't do it.”
My purpose: to shut up Luke.
My way: a slap in the face.
My right hand struck Luke's left cheek hard enough to disrupt him. He swayed a little, I saw his red cheek and anger- rage and indignation in his blue eyes. My body shook.
The sound of the slap echoed down the hall, drawing the attention of two servants who were passing by. One of them was Lidia who analyzed the scene in amazement.
"I said shut your mouths, not make them bleed," she seemed to say.
“Don't use Maredale's name in vain.” I slammed the door behind me. I smashed into the door and held my breath. I held it for a few minutes waiting for a sound, a knock on the door from him, something.
The seriousness of what I had done fell on me. I slapped Luke.
I had laid a hand on the King of Gardenstone.

Spiritual Spotlight: Cayden Cailean, the Drunken Hero
Tumblr media
Chaotic Good God of Ale, Freedom, and Wine
Domains: Chaos, Charm, Good, Strength, Travel Subdomains: Azata, Competition, Exploration, Ferocity, Love, Lust, Resolve
Inner Sea Gods, pg. 36~43
Obedience: Sing a song in praise of freedom, bravery, and your god’s glory (and good looks). The song must be audible to those nearby—friend or foe. Between stanzas, you must pause to drink from a full mug of ale, wine, or other spirits. When the song is done, drink the remaining alcohol while mentally composing the song you will sing on the morrow. If a creature is attracted by your song, do your best to engage it in conversation about the merits of Cayden Cailean. If hostilities become inevitable, leap boldly into the fight without hesitation. Benefit: Get a +4 sacred bonus to saving throws versus poison effects.
Discussing one of Pathfinder’s more well-known Good Guys has been a long time coming! I just had to get all of the Evil gods out of my system first (which is a lie, there’s still 80+ more pages of Evil to discuss), and what better way to wash them all out than with a pint?
The Drunken Hero’s Obedience prevents you from being subtle about who you’re working for. It MUST be audible to anyone nearby, even party members you want to keep it a secret from, and it MUST be about Cayden Cailean. There’s also the fact you have to start your day with a hearty drink (the mug must be full, and you must finish it), which could prove disadvantageous if you have anywhere to be early in the morning. Alternately, you could drink just before going to bed; I make most of the Obediences sound like they’re something to be done right as the day starts, but that’s only true for casters, who are basically encouraged to do their Obediences at the crack of dawn as they prepare their spells (Obediences can be done alongside preparations, no matter how wild they are).
A martial character can have a nice tall nightcap and sing everyone to sleep--the song has to be audible, not ‘ear-cracking’--and enjoy their benefit and Boons for 24 hours, waking up with a mild hangover (easily cured) rather than going about the first few hours of their day like a drunken fool. If you ARE a caster, however, I hope you didn’t dump Constitution, because you’ll need it! Especially if a baddie does overhear your singing and come investigating, because Cayden requires you to leap into the fray no matter what.
Benefit is nothing we haven’t seen before. Ironically, since alcohol itself is considered a poison for the purpose of game mechanics, this benefit actually helps keep you from getting too sloshed. I just hope you remember not to drink your strongest stuff in your first mug, because the bonus won’t apply then!
Boons are gathered slowly, typically obtained when a given character has 12, 16, and 20 hit dice. Unlike fiend-worshipers, servants of the Eldest, and devoted of the Empyreal Lords, characters worshiping Good gods do not seem to have catch-all classes (though I could very well have just missed it)… but Good-aligned characters can enter the Evangelist, Sentinel, and Exalted Prestige Classes earlier than Evil characters, classing in as early as level 6 (they need +5 BAB, 5 ranks in a single skill, or the ability to cast lvl 3 spells); entered ASAP, one can gain the Boons at levels 8, 11, and 14.
----------
EVANGELIST
----------
Boon 1: Liberation. Liberating Command 3/day, Knock 2/day, or Dispel Magic 1/day.
You all should know by now how useful Dispel Magic can be, even at 1/day. It shatters more or less any magical effect that doesn’t require another specific spell to undo, and can shave buffs off enemies and debuffs off allies in the middle of combat.
So lets look at the other two! Knock, in particular, seems pretty fun. It can open just about any locked object you can think of and can even go so far as to loosen welds, knock nail-studded boards away, and undo bars and chains holding something shut. You use your caster level +10 versus the DC of a locked object, and since your caster level is equal to your HD for spell-like abilities, you can only fail on a 1 when opening simple locks and have a pretty good chance of unhinging more complex locks as well. It takes SERIOUS effort to keep someone with Knock out of a particular door, because most means of shutting someone out count as ‘simple locks’ unless you invest hundreds of gold into it.
Liberating Command is a pretty nice spell, really. You can target any creature in Close range (25ft + 5ft/lvl) to grant them an immediate attempt to escape a grapple, binding, or restraint with an Escape Artist check... Which get get a bonus to equal to twice your caster level (+18, when you first get this Boon, but it only goes up to +20). One thing I missed on my first pass over it was that it was an immediate action, allowing you to use it in response to someone near you getting grappled, or if you yourself get snared.
Liberating Command is a pretty terrible spell to prepare, but it’s an amazing spell-like to just have at 3/day. The number of critters with Grab in the game is worrying, and many scrawnier players more or less become dead weight the moment they’re grappled, so giving them an instant chance to escape with an enormous boost to their attempt can let them wiggle right out of the grip of a troll/octopus/worm monster.
Boon 2: Drinking Buddy. 1/day as a standard action, you can create an illusory duplicate of yourself in an adjacent square next to you. The duplicate moves on your initiative count and has your movement speed. It automatically moves to try and flank enemies you designate, avoiding Attacks of Opportunity using your Acrobatics bonus if needed. Anyone interacting with the double can attempt a Will save (DC 25) to see through it, and anyone who realizes it’s an illusion cannot be flanked with it. It has your AC, but vanishes instantly if it successfully struck. Otherwise, it lasts 1 round per HD you possess.
Ugh. Cayden, what are you doing? What is this? This is just awful!! I mean, if you’re a class with Sneak Attack or someone who’s built to flank others, this is passable, but at 1/day? Instantly vanishing if damaged? Granting a flat Will save to disbelieve (it does not rise as you level)?
I suppose it makes for a decent distraction, if nothing else. Boosting your own AC before sending in the clones works fairly well, possibly drawing numerous enemy attacks in, and the ability does note that the double only vanishes if hit with an attack, meaning AoE won’t clear it out, and many spells which don’t rely on an attack roll simply fail as well. That gives this ability a bit more utility than it otherwise would have.
But it’s a standard action to perform, at 1/day, and you can’t even send the double into a room alone, since it only exists to try and flank enemies and the description doesn’t mention if it’s usable for anything else. For characters who don’t want to be flanking enemies, this ability is essentially useless.
Boon 3: Intoxicating Strike. 1/day, you may declare one of your attacks to be an Intoxicating Strike. You must declare this before the attack rolls is made. If the attack is successful and deals damage, the victim becomes supernaturally soused for 1 round per HD you possess; a soused creature takes a -4 penalty to AC, attack rolls, and skill checks, and their movement speeds are all reduced by 10ft.
Honestly, this one is kind of pathetic as well. You all probably know that I don’t like 1/day things negated by a successful save unless they change the course of a battle, and this is one of those things and it sets my teeth on edge. I do, however, admit that the fact you can use it on ranged attacks gives this a bit more reach than it otherwise would. A -4 penalty to attacks and skill checks usually won’t matter at such a high level, though there’s always the cases where they turn a certain blow into a near miss, so I won’t talk down too hard on this. A -4 to AC, however? Now THAT’S something special! Especially since there’s a good chance it’ll last the entirety of the fight!
This intoxication, by the way, is entirely supernatural in its intensity. It affects ALL creatures, even ones that can’t get drunk, such as Constructs, Undead, and most Outsiders. And it’s not technically a Save-or-Suck since there’s no save! All you have to do is get past someone’s AC! Which, eehhhhhh, can be just as iffy as firing it at their saves... Unless you’re using a firearm, of course, which hits touch AC from certain ranges.
All in all, Evangelists of Cayden don’t really win this round.
----------
EXALTED
----------
Boon 1: Libations. Gain Bless Water 3/day, Delay Poison 2/day, or Create Food And Water 1/day.
And Exalted is already off to a bad start, too! Yeesh! Holy Water stops being useful roughly around level 3 except as components for beefier Divine spells and certain rituals, and Delay Poison is a niche pick rendered useless by the fact Neutralize Poison exists and is within a level 9 party’s reach.
That being said, because spell-likes don’t require components, you don’t need the ridiculous five pounds of silver to transmute a singular pint of water into Holy Water via Bless Water. Holy Water doesn’t fade from day to day, either, so you can just slowly rack up an entire lakes-worth of the stuff over time to dunk Undead and Evil Outsiders in, or sell it by the bottle to churches or other adventuring parties for a tidy profit.
I would still just take Create Food And Water and never have to worry about rations or using resources to bribe hungry enemies again, though. Hell, at level 9, CFAW creates so much stuff that you could reasonably carry it to the next day and just alternate between CFAW and Bless Water (you can even bless the water you create!!!!) to keep everyone fed and armed. You won’t make much money by selling the excess food, but feeding the hungry without expecting profit is something a goody-good person like you should be doing anyway. Just uh, make sure at least one person on your team knows Prestidigitation, because I can speak from experience that a party will quickly grow tired of CFAW’s bland food.
Boon 2: Freedom’s Ally. 1/day as a standard action, you can call a pair of Bralani Azatas to your side. You have telepathy out to 100ft when communicating with them, and they serve you perfectly for 1 minute per HD you possess. They will not fulfill any orders which would cause them to commit evil acts or restrict the freedom of another purely for the sake of law, and asking them to do so may draw their ire. They may attack if your commands are especially vile.
Oops, nevermind, Exalted is Good, Actually. Bralani Azata are CR 6 creatures from the realm of Elysium armed with +1 scimitars and +1 composite longbows that they get two attacks with each round, and have such interesting spell-likes as Mirror Image, Wind Wall, and Charm Person at will, as well as Lightning Bolt and Cure Serious Wounds 2/day each. Against an army of foes, the Bralani can assume Wind Form to grant themselves an enormous 100ft fly speed and the power to deal 3d6 bludgeoning damage in a 20ft line with their Whirlwind Blast ability.
VERY powerful critters to have on your side, even if you’re twice their level! The defensive options they have via Mirror Image and Wind Wall alone make them tenacious even against enemies of higher CR, and their Wind Form turns them from gorgeous humanoids into nondescript clouds of fog, letting them run stealth missions if needed... Or use their massive movespeed to deliver curative spells to far-off allies.
I’m not sure how far away they’re summoned, since this ability doesn’t use any preexisting Summon Monster spell and doesn’t say where they pop up. I assume they appear adjacent to you, which limits the shenanigans you can pull with them, but not enough that I’d consider it worth worrying about.
Boon 3: Wine to Water. As a full-round action, you may transform a single serving of an alcoholic beverage into either potent Holy Water or a potion of Cure Serious Wounds. The potion option cures 3d8 HP, +1 HP per HD you possess (max +15). The Holy Water you create deals 4d4 damage to the Undead or to Evil Outsiders, and 2d4 to such creatures within 5ft of the initial target. Both the potion and water last for an hour. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your Charisma modifier (min 1).
Ohoho now this is something special... Provided you have a Charisma modifier of 3 or more, because at 1 or 2 a day? This ability’s kinda pitiful. The maximum healing it can do is 39, which is GOOD, but you’re likely never going to roll maximum healing.
Yes, the emergency healing is nice. You can turn even common 1-copper swill into an emergency healing potion, and “a serving” can be as small as a shot glass (which potions are traditionally served in), but it’s a full-round action to do, which means you can’t actually use this ability and then hand it to an ally in the same round. They’d have to use some actions on their turn to take it and drink it. After-combat healing is usually the way to go unless desperate, pouring a quick shot into an unconscious ally’s throat to get them back on their feet. If you know combat is coming you can make the potions ahead of time since they last an hour, but know that if the potion ‘expires,’ the ability is wasted. The use is limited, but it helps your healer’s spell slots stretch just a bit further.
4d4 damage to an undead or fiendish enemy is also pretty lackluster at level 15, the earliest you can get this ability. The best trick you can pull with it is to trick such a creature into drinking it, burning them inside and out and likely preventing them from speaking from the searing their throat just took. This ability is even more hilarious than typical Holy Water in that regard; you can instantly detect shapeshifting Evil beasts by spritzing them with a bit of the stuff, but that likely won’t work against more cunning monsters. This ability, though? It makes suggesting a drink for your friend MUCH less suspicious than handing them a vial of water. You’re just pouring them a cold one to enjoy!
It’s like you’re testing your party for The Thing, only instead of them exploding into a tentacle monster and killing everyone in the room, it’s a secret mystery test that’ll expose them while also debilitating them! That’s about the only use it has at high levels, aside from being used as material components for spells that actually matter.
----------
SENTINEL
----------
Boon 1: Devastating Duelist. Bless Weapon 3/day, Brow Gasher 2/day, or Greater Magic Weapon 1/day.
By level 9, most people in the party should have magic weapons anyway. Not always, but usually you’ve got enough of a mystic arsenal to make Bless Weapon redundant. The fact it overrides magical enchantments already on a weapon also means that it becomes weaker as you level up and gain access to better equipment, putting it firmly in the Niche of this list.
Greater Magic Weapon is almost always the better choice when choosing to buff a weapon, though I will admit that Bless Weapons’ ability to auto-crit against Evil creatures is pretty nice. GMW, however, makes any weapon hit harder and hit more easily. The fact it also lasts for 1 hour/level means it’ll likely last your entire adventuring day.
Brow Gasher is also an interesting choice. It forces you to use a slashing weapon (which you already likely do, if you’re a Sentinel of Cayden) but heavily rewards you for doing so; discharging the spell as part of a successful attack slashes the poor fool across the forehead, bleeding them for half your caster level (4 damage a round, which rises as you level) and potentially blinding them if they can’t get it cured in time. The list of creatures who are immune to resistant to this ability is long, but it’s certainly worth taking anyway on the occasion you find yourself against targets capable of bleeding.
Boon 2: Light Weapon Master. Whenever you battle with a light bladed weapon, if you have the Weapon Training (Light Weapon) ability, you get a +2 deflection bonus to AC. If you do not have Weapon Training, instead you get a +1 sacred bonus to attack rolls with light bladed weapons.
Here I thought Evangelists were hogging all the bad Boons this time, but it turns out Sentinel is the one who got shot in the leg here.
This ability basically reads “unless you’re a Fighter, get a lame benefit.” Don’t get me wrong, on an actual Fighter (or a Swashbuckler, if your DM is nice enough)? This ability is amazing. +2 extra AC for a character already loaded with AC makes them that much better at tanking, and it’s a DEFLECTION bonus to it even applies to touch attacks!
But if you’re not a Fighter, this ability is basically worthless. I know I’m being a little harsh here, but a Boon should be ABOVE the power level of a feat, not on part with a feat you can take as early as level 1 (Weapon Focus). Even Drinking Buddy is better than this.
Boon 3: Critical Luck. Each time you roll a natural 1 on an attack roll, keep a tally, up to a maximum of your Charisma modifier. Whenever you threaten a critical hit with an attack roll, you can ‘trade’ one of your tallies to automatically confirm the critical hit. Your tally empties out every 24 hours.
If you roll enough natural 1s to make this ability useful, you’re likely either dead or dead weight. Seriously, you may need to exorcise your dice if you roll three or more 1s in a single day of combat. I think the first thing that would need to go is the Charisma mod limitation, followed by the fact it empties out every 24 hours. Unless you have a weapon with a high critical range, you might not even get to use this ability at all, let alone in the same combat.
I know a lot of abilities rely on luck, but this is one of the only Boons I’ve seen that specifically relies on YOU, personally, having absolutely terrible luck, followed by absolutely fantastic luck. It’s just... not good. I would go as far as saying that this ability could realistically be a simple feat anyone could take, and not even one locked behind particularly terrible prerequisites.
Exalted of Cayden win this round by a long shot.
You can read more about him here.

Note
do numbers 1d20 1d12 times >:3
Lmao I rolled a 12 but I decided to reroll and got a more manageable 7 (Thank you!!) ((from here))
17. What is your favorite armor?
Honestly armour is usually the last thing I ever think about wrt a DnD character lmao. Taber’s paladin armour is pretty damn cool though and I love it to bits (and so does she)
15. What is your favorite weapon?
I love daggers just as a general concept I gotta say, and as a side note I’m especially fond of the flame-tongue enchantment. I can’t choose a favourite specific weapon between Taber’s sentient greatsword and Mhel’s quarterstaff that can cast a select amount of druid spells per day
The rest will go under a cut!
13. How many d&d characters have you made?
Technically nine? In rough order of creation I have
Fyf the half-elf/ tabaxi rogue+assassin
Taber the tiefling fighter+paladin
Wilver the halfling warlock
Niamh the aasimar cleric (+bard) ((someday))
Erisonne the dwarf monk
Shuvermhel the drow druid
Ekaterina the gnelf ranger
Keziah the half-elf/ tabaxi wizard
Kole (full name pending) the human rogue
Rn I only play as Taber and Shuvermhel consistently; Erisonne and Keziah are my one-shot/ guest PCs, Wilver and Niamh get played sporadically, I left Fyf’s campaign, Kole will be a PC once Taber’s campaign has wrapped up, and I still need to do literally anything with Ekaterina (Katt for short)
18. What level do you usually start your players at?
I haven’t been a DM yet, but I am planning on running a one-shot for a couple different groups!! I’m thinking of starting the players off somewhere between 3 and 5 for that one-shot so that they can get a feel for the fun parts of a race or class that they don’t normally play
1. What was the first race you ever played as?
Technically my first ever PC was a human rogue, but that game didn’t last very long because we were in middle school and had terrible attention spans. The first race I ever properly played was a half-elf because I didn’t realize at the time of Fyf’s creation that tabaxi were a thing lmao
10. What is the most annoying thing that has happened during a d&d session you’ve played in?
Okay so speaking of that middle school campaign, the one thing I remember most clearly was when my rogue was trying to sneak through a goblin encampment in a cave without drawing attention, and then Chris’ wizard character shot Magic Missile into the cave. At least he killed the singular goblin he shot, but then everyone else had to rush in the prevent me and the cleric from getting clawed to death by goblins avenging their fallen brother
6. What is your favorite class?
Rogue, always rogue. Paladin and druid have both grown on me, but I love rogues and roguish characters with my entire heart and soul

so i’m miraculously terrible at keeping up with stuff :’) but here is my schedule as promised! ((also a few notes on me about what i’ll start posting))
under the cut because it’s long! once i fix up my blog i’ll link it
Schedule - Sophomore Year (Grade 10) // 2017-2018
Classes: - health! although this class is generally not taken seriously, my teacher is absolutely amazing and that’s enough to keep me awake at 8am after two hours of sleep ahaha but it’s a bit repetitive but very very important. take care of yourself everyone!! - AP Capstone Seminar (Year 1) - one of the newer advanced placement classes on College Board’s list; it’s mostly a research-based thing where we do a project for National History Day (NHD) about a period/facet in history (unfortunately we’re limited to doing U.S. history) and compete against other teams! i do enjoy this class but my teacher is v v scary so you’ll probably see me either whining or freaking out about the class. no exams, though! - algebra II/trigonometry - i’m absolutely terrible at math but so is my friend so i might fail but at least it was a group effort you probably won’t see that much from this class since i do hate math and there’s little to copy down for notes other than practice which is not as fun if you think about it - spanish III - this is my fourth year taking spanish but i’m only at the second level so far since i was placed in the same class last year. but no matter! so far it’s just been review but i’m pretty sure this year we’re going to learn the different tenses (past/preterite, imperfect, future) but i’m not sure if we’ll go into subjunctive just yet - latin I - i’m really hyped for this class! it’s pretty interesting to see how the root of most languages i speak works and my teacher is hilarious. there’s a lot of exams for latin though, i actually have one tomorrow so wish me luck ^o^ - physics - i’m not very good nor am i interested in the sciences but physics is okay so far. the fact that i’m bad at math isn’t helping, but i’ve self studied somewhat during the summer, so hopefully that will help :) - english III - english is my absolute most favorite class! sophomore english is focusing on romanticism and the art, literature, and culture of that time period, so we’ve been doing lots of analysis on poetry by william blake and william wordsworth and listening to romantic music :)) i’m pretty sure i have an essay to be assigned soon on romanticism and its qualities - AP World History (Year 2) - one of the mandated classes for my school! i did pretty well last year in APWH so here’s to hoping it’ll continue :) i do like this class but we have quite a lot of homework from the textbook (which is, in all honesty, not that bad)
Clubs (tentative):
- moot court - i’m a humanities person and i’m thinking of entering a profession in the legal system + area so this is me trying to get a feel of that! moot court lasts for i think one semester so from october to february! members of moot court participate/practice in actual law firms/courts and are selected based on presentation, projection, pacing, coherence, and flexibility from the audition prompt given. i’m pretty nervous even though the prompt is quite simple; i’m not much of a good presenter, but this will at least give me some experience :)
- mock trial - similar to moot court except it’s more of a team-based effort; moot court is very singular in that you have an argument and you defend it by yourself and answer questions that may be posed during your argument; mock trial is similar to the stuff seen on TV, with different roles in court (prosecutor, defense, judge/jury) and there’s more teamwork involved. spring semester - march - june
- key club - community service club! joining it for a second year and i might apply for a position...? who knows :D
- phoenix - this is a student-run magazine focusing on the arts and literature of students! it’s something that’s perfect for me based on my hobby of writing little things and drawing some stuff, although i think i’ll focus on writing. i’m planning to apply for an editorial position next year!
so that’s all for now! this is just a general overview of my schedule so you’ll probably see the originals on my blog be:
- homework - notes - study guides - the occasional project!
i have three exams this week so i’m going to do a last minute review! thank you for reading (if you even went through this long post lol) and have a good night!
