the day you lost your family you’d been sent to spend the holidays with your aunt, madam red — the two of you had been exceptionally close and she’d offered to privately tutor you so that you could follow in her footsteps
and when the news reached you, you were absolutely shattered and riddled with survivor’s guilt — which caused you to isolate and start suffering from night terrors and panic attacks
your aunt — now adoptive guardian — had saved you from taking your life several times
the day your baby brother came home was the happiest you’d been in years, not fully believing your eyes when you arrived at the rebuilt estate and saw him waiting for you
you were the only person who he actively ran over to hug, and your aunt gave you both a moment before coming in herself
your home was restored, you had some of your family back — and you weren’t about to let anything happen to them
which meant that you were terribly protective of ciel (well, not ciel as he’d told you, but you kept his secret well enough) and refused to let him go out on missions without your help
you insisted on helping him with each and every case and your insight was vital in solving a great number of them — especially since you were the only member of the family to have an active rapport and history with undertaker, making him much more willing to provide assistance to him
ciel was your baby and you were so deeply attached to him that you nearly blew a gasket when you met soma and he started to take advantage of your baby brother
you got into a screaming row over it until agni and your brother stepped in to mediate, with the two of you agreeing to remain neutral whilst he stayed at your family’s town house
and that was the start of a shockingly beautiful relationship
for his entire life soma had gotten everything he wanted — everyone everywhere always bowing to his wants and feeding his ego
until he met you, and that made you all the more interesting to him
so the prince relentlessly pursued and courted you using a mixture of traditions from his home and bits and pieces he’d scraped together from sebastian
showering you in expensive gifts, sending flowers at every opportunity, asking you to accompany him (or offering to accompany you) to every outing and drowning you in compliments
but you didn’t give in, being cordial but not going beyond friendly conversation with him
until he stepped up to defend your baby brother from a rude nobleman who was acting especially snobbish and cruel towards him
that was when you started to return his efforts and after six months of this back-and-forth the two of you started to officially court
you took things slowly, or you tried to at least, going out for regular dates and exchanging so many letters that you’d likely felled a forest between you over the course of your relationship
he sent flowers to the main estate every time you succeeded at a case, sent jewellery and sarees for random gifts and absolutely spoiled you on your birthday
loves introducing you to the sweets and foods and drinks he grew up with — but good luck trying to get him to swallow traditional foods you grew up eating (he loves you but he cannot bring himself to eat jellied eels)
teaches you songs and dances and will encourage and congratulate you even if you misstep or sing the wrong note
you have two weddings: one in bengal and one in england to accommodate both of your cultures
he sticks with you and comforts you during your terrors and panic attacks — he becomes an expert at grounding you extremely quickly
never stops wooing you and, whilst is drawings and handwriting aren’t the best, the content of what he creates is incredible — he excels at love poetry
he’ll randomly just start dancing with you — sometimes it’s traditional, sometimes it’s improvised, sometimes it’s something you taught him, but it’s always intimate and ends with you laughing
constantly brags about you to anyone who will listen — including a cheerful agni and his brothers who do not hold back about teasing him for it
uses so many pet names for you that you almost think he’s forgotten your name — and you only understand a fraction of them
some of his favourites are: mishti, puchki, and shona
you and agni are the only things standing between him and pure chaos — you keep him in line, so to speak, since he can’t say no to either of you
if you speak to him in bengali — especially if you’re flirting — this man will absolutely melt, yes even if your pronunciation is a bit off
he’s incredibly affectionate and is always touching you at all times — whether that’s kissing, hugging, hand holding or otherwise
ciel isn’t too pleased about him being a permanent fixture in his life, but appreciates that soma makes you happy and that you can keep him in line
very emotional and has woken you up in tears after a bad dream involving the two of you getting into an argument so that he can apologise for his words in the dream

So i don't personally subscribe to the o!ciel finnian name theory (tho I DO believe the phantomhives are celtic!) but ive been thinking about it as a possibility and what it would mean for his relationship with finny, cuz even though it would mean that he's trying to take his brothers role and force his own role to someone else

Hi! Can I request Bard with a multilingual fem s/o? I can see her maybe asking him out or even flirting with him in her native tongue. Maybe she might call him some pet name like “mi vida,” “corazón,” “amor,” “cariño,” “mi rey,” “amorcito,” etc.
Note: Also, “gordo” is a legit pet name. I know this because I’ve heard it used this way irl.
(Love that for him, imagine him fainting because you called him something romantic in your native language. i also did other languages as you said they're multilingual)

☤ Bardroy loves the fact that you can speak more than one language, he never understand how somebody can learn other languages, like you know Spanish, English, Italian, Korean and Hindi.
☤ Whenever you talk to him, you sometimes unconsciously slip into your languages, it's sccares the shit out of him, but he calms down again after a few minutes, so there's that, use this info as you please my dear summer child.
☤ If you can, please try to teach him some languages, he feels sad knowing he only knows one and that is English, which is something nearly everyone he meets can speak, even if they're foreingers....He's not the easiest to be patient with...
☤ He loves when you call him nicknames from different languages like "Corazón", "Amor", "Mi Vida", "Bello", "Ciccino", "Caro", "Tesoro", "Jannu", "Sundari", "Jagiya", "Yeobo", "Wangjanim", "Nae Sarang" and so many more, he doesn't care as long as he knows you're using it from him and only him.
☤ When you first called him something in one fo your languages, he immediately turned red and fainted there as he got so shy by you calling him something in one of your languages.
☤ Oh! He gets so jealous of people when you talk to them in one of your languages because the person doesn't know English and he knows he shouldn't be, but he can't help it as he thinks it should only be between you and him.
☤ You also asked him out through a love letter in one of your languages, not knowing he had Sebastian translate it and write it down in English for him, only then did he find you and kiss you hard on your cheeks.
☤ He loves when you speak to him or speak to someone in one of the languages as he loves how the words come out and how sweet or badass they sound, he thinks you look sexy when you speak something.
☤ He would have you translate random notes and then he would gifts those notes and letters with something back to you and all embarrased as Sebastian is not patient enough with him to translate things for him to gift to you.
☤ He and others would also sometimes join Ciel and Sebastian to trips to other countries where you and Sebatsian both often prove to be extremely useful to help translate certain languages for them.
☤ Ciel and Sebastian also use you in their investigation to question certain suspects or to find some witnesses for the investigation or to basically search for clues.
☤ Overall Bard loves this thing of you....<3

How about a S/O male,What would a romantic relationship with Ciel be like? Considering that at that time being gay was frowned upon.
aaaaa I hope this is what you were after! c:
Flower language is a must, because it’s not as if he can say all these personal things out loud, can he? Even if he were with a woman, it would be considered unbecoming to act overly romantic in public. So instead he sends his S/O flowers, which have many different meanings and are able to say the things he can’t say out loud. A bouquet sent to (Name) is as good as a love letter.
Time has to be spent doing mundane things like accompanying him on business. It consists of quite honestly boring outings like walking at his side to a meeting, and likely having to sit outside of where the meeting is actually taking place. If the two of you steal a few kisses in the carriage on the way back ― with the curtains properly drawn, of course, so no one sees as the carriage passes ― that doesn’t need to be anyone else’s business.
You surely spend the night over at his manor a few times, though. At least once a week or once every couple of weeks. As long as you trust your own staff not to say anything, then he doesn’t mind it. He trusts his own staff; one of the things he’s told Sebastian is, “Do not allow the knowledge of mine and (Name)’s relationship to become public, until such a time as I wish to reveal it. That is an order.” It’s rather nice, getting to wake up with you in the morning sometimes. He starts his work just a little later on those days, because his hands are usually… somewhat occupied for a bit those mornings.
Everybody thinks you two are the best of friends. It strikes most people as strange, considering that Ciel isn’t the type to get close to others. You and Ciel keep up appearances just enough that you seem like only friends to the eyes of the general population. If anyone suspects you’re more than that, well, they don’t say as much. Whether for fear of being wrong or fear that Ciel’s influence will crush them should they comment on it, your secret is safe for now. Hopefully, by the time Ciel’s contract with Sebastian is over, the world will have changed such that it eventually won’t need to be a secret.

Just Ur taught you how you use your Ice Magic.The loneliness left a big hole in your heart and you said to yourself: before this happens again, I won‘t let anyone near me, ever again… and so you did
7 years ago, Ur died. The last one you let near you just disappeared out of your life.
Your brother dragged you with him. This is the story how you became a part of Fairy Tail.
At first everyone tried to cheer you up. Tried to be your friend. But your family left a big hole in you and nobody seems to be able to stuff this. After months they stopped trying and you became the only one in this guild without a group. Even your brother left you behind and it hurt you.
2 years ago Wendy became a part of Fairy Tail and you - a grumpy, cold, arrogant brat - caught her attention. She was shy at first but when you snapped at her she was determined to become your friend. Come what may.

Your sitting in the hall and mind your own business, everyone is chatting around you but no one is chatting with you. You’re fine with that. Everyone knows that you don’t want friends.
She sits in front of you, her eyes never leave you but you’re too annoyed to keep this up
„What do you want Marvell?“ you ask her before you roll your eyes at her
„Keeping you company. You seemed so lonely“ she answers and you didn’t like it
„I‘m not lonely! I‘m minding my own business. You should do the same, Marvell“ you snap at her but she doesn’t flinch, instead she shows you a sheet of paper. A mission.
„Go with me on this mission!“ she asks and looks at you with puppy eyes, it makes something inside you twitch
You rip the paper out of her hand and start reading:
It’s a request from a village known as Eldoria, located deep within the enchanted forest. It seems that a mysterious and ancient tome, said to hold unimaginable power, has been stolen from the village‘s sacred temple. The village elders are desperate to recover the tome before it falls into the wrong hands, as it‘s magic could bring devastation to the realm.
The tome is believed to be hidden within a treacherous labyrinth, guarded by powerful magical creatures and intricate traps.
„Why would you ask me? Go with Natsu or somebody else!“ you try to scare Wendy away but she shakes her head
„I want to go with you! pretty, pretty please!“ she‘s too determined
„Fine, whatever“ you roll your eyes but her eyes shine like diamonds
Secretly you’re as excited as she is

„Thank you so much for your help. You see, this tome is very special for our village and if we don’t get it back and the tome falls into false hands… it could be the end!“ the eldest says when you and Wendy arrive at Eldoria
You stand in front of this called labyrinth. It seems scary and dark but you’re not afraid. You call yourself fearless… way too often
„Don’t worry, we will find the tome. My friend is pretty good with his magic“ she says and heat rises in your cheeks. Friends.
You step inside the labyrinth and the hedge behind you closes itself. You‘re trapped in this labyrinth.
You first stop is a glade and the trees seems to whisper. They are possess by a mischievous spirit. They whisper some easy riddles and puzzles, that help you navigate through them.
You take the lead. Wendy seems not quite to understand so you grab her wrist and guide her through the forest.
The next stop is a hidden chamber adorned with glistening crystals but they don’t seem right. Wendy starts to turn and push the crystals around until she reveals a secret passage behind them
„How do you do this?“ you ask confused
„They looked not right so I turn them until it looks beautiful“ she explains with a big, proud grin
„Pft. Girls“ you mutter, but secretly you’re impressed by her
When you go over the secret passage you get into a grand chamber that is protected by an ancient staue. A guardian who tests your wisdom and knowledge.
He asks you a series of riddles and question and you need to get them right. You take the lead again. Your knowledge isn’t small but one question is pretty hard and you stand there, stammer something but don’t get the answer. Wendy jumps in and answers the question right.
The guard is impressed and let you through
„Thanks“ you whisper but she smiles at you, which melt your heart
„You’re welcome, Y/N“
The last challenge awaits you two in the heart of the labyrinth. You face a series of elemental trials, each representing a different force of nature. You must demonstrate your ability to resist fire, water, earth and air to unlock the chamber where the tome resides.
It was not that easy because your ice can’t do much against the elements but Wendy helps you out with her magic of a Dragonslayer.
„You ok?“ she asks when you sink on your knees to take a breath
„Yeah, I‘m fine“ and for the first time you smile at her. She stands there, shock in her eyes but it forms into happiness before she storms into your arms and give you the biggest hug in your life
After overcoming the challenges of the labyrinth, you reach the final chamber, where you find the stolen enchanted tome hidden away.
However, you soon realize that an infamous dark guild seeks to claim its power for themselves
A fierce battle ensues as you and Wendy defeat the dark guild, ensuring its safety
With the tome recovered, you return to Eldoria to the joyous celebration of the villagers, who are grateful for your heroic efforts
You stand besides, let the other celebrate, when Wendy come up to you
„You did a great job, Y/N“ she says and smiles at you
„You weren’t bad yourself, Marvell“ you give her also a little smile before she stick out her hand to you
Confused you look at her and her hand
„Friends?“ she asks nicely and tilts her head to the right
„Yeah, whatever“ you gave her your hand and she drags you into the celebrations
The mission is a success, and the power of the enchanted tome remains safeguarded, preserving the harmony of the magical realm.

When you return to Fairy Tail everyone can see your change. You smile more often and go on missions with Wendy… and Wendy only
Even your brother looks at you and feels proud of you to find a friend in Wendy
Sometime it seems that you’re still grumpy but you aren’t
One day, Gray Fullbuster goes up to Wendy.
„Thank you, Wendy“ he says but she doesn’t understand

Cosplay couple & meet and greet for whoever you want!
Hi hi!! I'll answer these for all my mains!!
Cosplay Couple - If you and your F/Os were to cosplay who would you dress up as and why?
Elijah would absolutely suggest for us to dress up as Yoonbum and Sangwoo, I'd agree to have him be all giddy and excited
He'd be overjoyed when people compliment his "makeup skills" when talking about his bruises and scars
Sir Pentious would be a bit confused about the idea of cosplaying at first, but once I've explained it to him he'd ask me to choose characters for us to dress up as!
I'd probably choose Ciel and Sebastian, both because his outfits would already fit the theme and so I can have an excuse to see him without his hat hehe
Simon would definitely be shy about dressing up but he'd eventually get comfortable with the idea the more we talk about it.
He'd most likely choose characters from books and feel a bit disappointed when most people don't recognize us
Napstablook would suggest for us to dress up as King Boo and Booette, mostly because they wouldn't know how to make props so a crown would be easy to craft
They'd also ask me to carry their headphones just in case things get overwhelmed
Sal would be a bit shy about cosplaying any characters that don't wear masks so we'd most likely go with slashers!

Meet and Greet - How do you and your F/O greet each other everyday? What is the greeting like when you haven’t seen each other in a while?
Elijah is usually really affectionate and clingy whenever he sees me, so he'll immediately have his arms wrapped around me while he nuzzles away at my hair. He's a bit quiet when he's just gotten up so he just groans and hums while being very handsy with me
When we haven't seen each other in a while, he'll be very serviceable, offering various favors and being as helpful as possible. The praise and attention makes his heart beat faster than ever
Sir Pentious is usually very energetic when the day starts so it's not surprising to have him be loud and cheerful when he greets me in the morning. He usually peppers my face in kisses and talks about his plans for the day while we both get ready
If we haven't seen each other in a while, he usually writes me love letters and welds me gifts in his free time. When we're able to see each other again, he'll give me everything he's made and talk about how hard it was to be apart for so long (even if it was just for a day)
Simon is very routine oriented and usually wakes up before our alarm goes off, if he's feeling affectionate, he'll wake me up with light kisses and gentle caresses over my cheeks. Once we're both up we get ready for the day together and spend most of the morning just chatting while having breakfast!
If we haven't seen each other in a while he becomes very protective and reassuring. He'll put his coat over my shoulders and hug me for a long time, telling me how much he's missed me and how he wants us to be together forever
Napstablook is always a bit surprised whenever I want to spend time with them, even though we've been together for years. They're really shy and usually waits for me to be affectionate first, so they won't make me uncomfortable. They usually greet me by asking me to make myself at home whenever I go to their place!
If we haven't been spending a lot of time together, they'll message me whenever they miss me, sending me songs and texts about little things that reminded them of me. When we're able to see each other again they'll be more forward about wanting affection and will ask for specific comforts and words of reassurance
Sal gets caught up in strange situations fairly often so we never know what the next day will be like. We usually start our days by telling each other about the dreams we had during the night, then having a nice shower together before getting back in bed to just hold each other for a while
When we're apart for a while he finds comfort in thinking about his favorite memories of us, sometimes he looks at the sky and stops to think about whether or not we're looking at the same stars. When we see each other again he's very clingy but shy, like he gets a crush on me all over again. He'll want to be held and kissed constantly and I'm more than happy to indulge him
Grell has a tight schedule so it's a bit hard to have a routine because of it, but she always finds the time to stop by and greet me during the day! We usually spend a few minutes just chit chatting and flirting back and forth before she has to get to work!
When we spend a lot of time apart she'll be very dramatic when we see each other again. She'll act as if being away from me makes her genuinely ill and the only cure for her woes is my love and affection, and who am I to deny her?
John Doe doesn't do time apart. He'll sneak into my pockets, backpack or just lurk around me wherever I am if I can't pay direct attention to him.
Most days, however, I'm more than happy to be as close to them as possible! We're always walking together or spending time with one another.
Muichiro is a bit spacey and grumpy in the morning, so he'll just wrap his arms around me while I'm making us breakfast and grumble until I give him kisses and hugs. When we stay apart for a long time he gets worried about my safety and usually tells his crow to check in on me, she's not a fan of this chore specifically but she's also happy that he's happy.
When we finally see each other again he's contrastingly loving and full of compliments to tell me. He's very gentle when it comes to affection and usually stares at me for a long time, just watching and memorizing my features
Hunter is still stuck in the routine he used to have in the emperor's coven, so he gets up very early and prepares himself for the day as quietly as possible. When I get up as well he'll be very hyper and loving, usually giving me a long kiss while holding on to me as tightly as he possibly can!
When we can't see each other for some time he'll whittle little figures of my favorite animals and random trinkets he thinks I'll like, so he can gift them to me when we reunite! When we're together again he becomes even more passionate and protective, he even takes a few days off so we can just be together for a long time

Thank you so much for agreeing to write for me! :) I can't tell you just how excited I am. What can I say? This version of the Batfam is just so fun to read, wonderfully endearing and wholesome! I love the dynamics between all the characters and the slice-of-life concept of it all. No matter if other superheroes or villains or the GCPD are involved, it’s always character-driven and a clear focus on that. I love how they all get a snarky tag when they’re introduced, how it plays with visual quotes, how it can be light and funny, and at the same time deep and from the heart. With other comics or stories in general, I usually have a favourite character, but with B:WFA I just love them all together as a chaotic mess of a family! Of course you don’t have to write all of the requested focus characters, though; feel free to pick and choose as fits the story best.

Dial H for Hero (DC Comics)
- Miguel Montez, Summer Pickens
The 2019 12-issue run is just pure love! There is worldbuilding galore, relatable characters, a wonderful coming-of-age and initiation plot, interdimensional shenanigans, the question how Joe Average could get addicted to sudden superpowers, and so much fun with the concept of Superhero Secret Origins. Summer is a wonderfully strong and caring female lead and Miguel is a self-conscious little oddball.

Pieces - L’Arc~en~Ciel (Music Video)

I’ve been a Laruku fan for a long time and “Pieces” has always been one of my favourite music videos of theirs. The mood of the song is beautiful and the story told just so haunting and intriguing. It starts right there with the (cursed? demonic? avenging?) dagger in the hands of a New York street vendor, who is not (or not that we know of) affected by its curse. He tells its story, in which it’s always the more powerful party getting killed by the blade. Now, apart from the interesting dynamics/symbolism that the lead singer killing his bassist/bandleader carries, it kind of redeems the blade a little, doesn’t it? Also the ones killing with it don’t seem to realize what they’re doing until it’s too late. The music video tells so many (human) stories with a common theme and a common (supernatural) protagonist (= the dagger) that I just want to see this universe expanded upon.
Prompts:
Sicily 1899 is the beginning of the story, but it can harldy be the beginning of the dagger. So how did it come to be and do what it is and does?
Warsaw 1940 is also a very intersting part because we don’t see the killing per se, just the result. So how did the boy end up killing the much larger soldier?
What (else) does the dagger see/perceive? How does it find or even choose its “victims”?

Sweetest Kulu - Celina Kalluk

I recently became a mom, and looking for things from as many different cultures as I could find that I could read to my daughter I discovered this wonderful lullaby/poem/song of wishes. I instantly fell in love with the beautiful imagery and the ebb and flow of the language and the beautiful relationship with nature within it. I would love to be able to read my daughter more stories within the same mythic space, so to speak.

Young Justice (2019 Comics)

So I only requested two characters because I’d love to read something with them as focus - by no means should the other characters be left behind (e.g. the look in Bart’s eyes when he first meets Cissie again haunts me ever since I first read the comic; and for Jinny Hex see my Dial H prompt above), I do believe Young Justice is such an amazing group because of everyone pushing everyone else to be their best (stupid, bickering, snarky, teenage drama) selves!
I loved the 1990s/2000s series, and as such was over the moon when the 2019/2020 run came out, dealing with all the reboots and all the people and memories lost in between the cracks there. I love how Bart is the one to corral them all, and to remind them of what they are. Friends, first and foremost! BAMF superhero friends that go above and beyond for each other! I love how Kon returns that favour. I love the image of them crashing on Naomi’s couch that one night, just because. And since I’m a TimKon shipper (also a TimBernard stan, even if that hasn’t happened at the time of that particular run - but please don’t feel obliged to write any kind of ship fic/pairing, I love gen just as much!!!), I especially love the friendship and general dynamic between those two idiots.

Dear Chibimyumi, this is a rather odd question but do you think O!Ciel sometimes forgets he's a child? Because he says he wants to be seen as an adult...but I don't know if people actually see him as an adult or just a child who is mature for his age. I apologize for not explaining this well..
Dear Anon,
The Victorian Era was obsessed with manhood and unkind to all who weren’t “proper men”. That society would not miss out on any chance to remind O!Ciel of his “““sub-man””” status, let alone allow him a second to forget it.
It is not for nothing that he wears high heels in a vain attempt to be taken seriously. Even in 2020 men would receive much ridicule for wearing ‘women’s shoes (even though high heels were invented by men FOR men), let alone in the 1880s. But to O!Ciel, I think he rather be judged for ‘effeminate fashion senses’ than to be seen as a little child.
It is only those who feel like they have something to prove (whether it is justified or not is another story) who would be so aggressive about this ‘thing’ they wish to prove. Think of macho masculinity for example... truly confident men have no need to puff up. In Grell’s case, because people don’t believe that she’s a woman she feels like she has ‘something to prove’. So, to ““compensate”” for her male-coded body she therefore aggressively uses hyper feminine speech.
In O!Ciel’s case of course, he is for all intents and purposes a child, and therefore he does actually have something to prove. Whenever he says he is ‘not a child’, all people might do for him is shut up to prevent further provocation. And O!Ciel must know very well that people only spare him further comments because of his exceptionally noble status. He must know all the better that if he really were and adult, he’d never have to wear heels. (I count myself lucky that he never attempted wearing a fake mustache.)
Throughout the manga O!Ciel consistently does not get taken seriously because of 1. literally being a child, and 2. looking even younger than he factually is. Even though status wise he ranks much higher than Sir Randall, the latter still refers to him as a ‘cunning brat’, with much emphasis on the ‘brat’ part. Even O!Ciel’s allies refer to him as a child, with notable examples being Sebastian and Lau.
Sebastian and Lau know very well that calling the Earl a ‘child’ or a ‘brat’ stings the most, because O!Ciel couldn’t even defend himself without spouting an objective lie. In chapter 39 for example, Lau introduced O!Ciel to a stranger as ‘little child’, and though O!Ciel refutes the ‘little’, he did not deny the ‘child’ part.
The most beautiful ‘backup’ Sebas and Lau have is ‘The One and Only Royal Majesty the Queen Almighty’ herself. Every time the Queen addresses O!Ciel she calls him ‘cute boy’. (可愛い坊や・Kawaii Bouya). This ‘bouya’ in Japanese is used solely for VERY young boys; boys a bit older (12+) are usually referred to as ‘shounen’ (young man). The fact that even his boss calls O!Ciel ‘boy’ means that there’s only so much he can do to tell people they’re wrong. If he went too aggressive about it, he would be implying that the Queen is ‘wrong’ too, after all. And he can’t criticise the Queen!!!
Duty vs Right
So, does O!Ciel sometimes forget he is a child?
I think a very important thing about O!Ciel is that he is hyper focused on his duty to the Queen and to his own revenge. I think he probably does realise that his duty is not something that would be fair to make any other child bear, but at the same time he also cannot convince himself to ‘indulge’ in his right as a child to live at peace. Not to mention, Sebas won’t allow him.
In the Circus Arc O!Ciel wasn’t even allowed a small break to recover from his triggered trauma. He moped for probably not even a few minutes and Sebas already tried to shame his master for being triggered and ‘threaten him out of trauma’ again. Trash Demon™ really takes fighting fire with fire quite literally.
Though Sebas is unforgivably abusive towards O!Ciel, he is also walking evidence for the boy that he is very worthy of respect. As explained extensively in this analysis, Sebas does not see his master any differently from older humans. Sebas judges somebody by their actions, not their identity. Though it had been a long road towards achieving mutual respect, O!Ciel did learn that the respect his butler has for him is truly earned.
O!Ciel is a strategist; his ability to play the cards he has been dealt is amazing. It is likewise because he knows he is a child, that he can use this card also in his favour when need be.
Conclusion
I think O!Ciel knows painfully well that he is a child and the social implications that come with it. He just doesn’t know what being a child is supposed to mean for him personally. Should he live his right as a child but be considered “sub-man”, or should he “grow up” to prove his worth? All in all it is not so weird, because in crisis some children are forced to mentally ‘grow up’ as a survival mechanism. These children never forget they are children; they might just not know what ‘normalcy’ is for a child. It would be reasonable to say this is exactly what happened to O!Ciel.
When he says “I am not a child” he does not mean “I am not underage”. I think he means: “take me as seriously as you would an adult.” As discussed before in this post, a strong thematic of this series is “you are who you prove yourself to be”. He knows he is more than what people give children credit for, and he wants that to be acknowledged.
Our Ciel is SUCH a well written character, I love him with all my heart.

When O!Ciel gets hit in the eye by a rogue cricket ball from some practicing seniors and has to wear an eye patch for a couple weeks, literally everyone tells him “We wish it was always this easy to tell you two apart”

R!Ciel likes to have the other students guess who is who without their jackets or ties. Some people catch on to the direction of the hair swirl, but even that can be manipulated and almost no one can remember which one’s hair hangs left vs. right anyway

Macmillan can tell the twins apart with scary accuracy, though. He can’t even be fooled. When people ask how he does it, he only says, “Isn’t it obvious?” No one’s really sure what to do with that

O! never flat-out pretends to be R! though. R! would absolutely love to trick people for sport, but O! isn’t confident he could do a good enough job at pretending to be his brother (I know, I know. I’m even oofing myself with this one, but I really think O! would feel this way)

Because of his bouts with asthma, O!Ciel has special privileges awarded by the school to cross the lawn like the prefects. However, O! hates special treatment and undo attention, so if you see a twin sprinting over the lawn, it’s almost definitely R!Ciel pretending to be O! when he’s running late for class

R!Ciel is a very reliable fag and is very concerned with the social hierarchy. He would 100% be rivals with Maurice Cole vying to get Redmond’s attention

With all these new friends, enemies, and frenemies accrued over a mere week, R! takes the mob boss approach and decides its time to forgive his brother. O! is like “Forgive what?? I didn’t even do anything wrong” but they’re still mostly good after that

People assume O! is just as dangerous as R! until they get to know him. However, those who get to know O! even more realize his power level might actually be higher than R!’s

When the brothers are fighting everybody knows it including the professors

Most of the time the boys don’t fight though. They actually live pretty separate lives, only meeting during afternoon breaks or in class and otherwise spending their time in their own way.....

1. My first impression of them. Sweet and adorable, albeit rather klutzy.
2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like). I liked Mey Rin right off the bat (the Phantomhive servants add a lot of heart to the storyline), and that appreciation only increased when she revealed her badass sniper skills during the circus arc! I love it when kind characters also have a ferocious side. 🔥
3. A song that reminds me of them. “almost home” by mxmtoon (which I first heard on @catraears ‘s wonderful Mey Rin playlist here on Spotify)
4. How many people I ship them with. Grelle, Sebastian, Hannah Annafellows, Paula, Agni, Ronald Knox, Madame Red (the three red ladies could make a very cute polycule!)
5. My favorite ship of them. Grellerin, because the vibes are immaculate. You have Grelle helping the maid embrace her femininity after a childhood and adolescence spent stifling it, and offering Mey Rin a passionate romance that surpasses anything found in the pages of her novels. You have Mey unconditionally loving and staunchly supporting Grelle, affirming the reaper’s identity even when so much of the world refuses to understand her. If they fought side-by-side, death scythe and rifle at the ready, these queens would be an unstoppable force! Sebagrellerin is also great…the perfect bisexual trio. 💖💜💙
6. My least favorite ship of them. I seem to recall spotting some nasty nonsense like Mey Rin/O!Ciel in the AO3 tag a while ago; anything like that is a hard pass from me, for obvious reasons. 🤢
7. A quote of them that you remember. “I obey young master’s command to the letter! To greet my master in a tidy manor every day—that is a maid’s duty. The housemaid shall purge the filth from this manor!”

10. Describe the character in one sentence. Though she presents a cheerful countenance by day, the Owl bares her talons by night!
11. What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character? How cute she is and how badly I want to cuddle her. 😭

13. Your favorite friendship they have. Her bond with the other servants; I’m a sucker for the trope where outcasts and misfits join together to create a little found family. 🥰
14. Best storyline they had. Her backstory in the maid arc. Those chapters gave us a better understanding of the harsh times that shaped her into a fearsome markswoman, as well as her resilience and ability to retain a beautiful soul despite those trials. Mey Rin’s come a long way from the bleak life in which she was trapped, which made it even more rewarding to see her thrive in the present!
15. Worst storyline they had. I wish she’d been aboard the Campania during the luxury liner arc. It would have been epic to watch her take out those bizarre dolls! 😈
16. A childhood headcanon. When she felt sad or discouraged, child!Rin would hum fragments of the tunes her mother used to sing to her in order to calm herself down.
17. What do you think their first word was? The Chinese word for “flower”
18. How do you think they were as a kid? (Like, were they shy, noisy, wild, etc). Based on the glimpse of babey Mey in canon, I’d say she was a naturally sensitive child forced to toughen up fast in order to eke out a living on the unforgiving London streets.
19. The most random ship you've seen people have with them. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen many ships involving Mey that were too bizarre, though I’m sure those crack pairings exist somewhere!
20. A weird headcanon. Maybe not weird, but spooky…Mey Rin loves telling ghost stories with the Bard and Finny on long winter nights, even though she often ends up scaring herself in the process. 😂👻
21. When do you think they were at their happiest? Those times at the manor when there are no attacks or other catastrophes to worry about, and she was free to enjoy picnics, fun outings in the city, and other bonding moments with the rest of the Phantomhive household.
22. When do you think they were at their lowest? Working as the Qing Bang’s assassin. Mey was surviving, but she wasn’t living.
23. Future headcanon. Partially as a consequence of working with her during their undercover mission, Mey Rin eventually becomes good friends with Ran Mao. At one point, the other woman gifts Mey a panda plushie identical to her own, which the maid treasures.
24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone? The exact number of people she’s killed over the course of her work. That death count comes with the territory, but Mey Rin doesn’t like to dwell on it.
25. When do you think they acted the most ooc. Her character’s been pretty consistent (at least in the manga), though I wish Yana had let her show her true colors earlier on in the story.
26. When do you think they were being "themselves" the most? After becoming a maid, because she could finally express her identity as Mey Rin, rather than being callously treated as Rin, valued only for her keen eyes and deadly aim rather than her personhood.
27. If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet? I’d love to see an AU where she could interact with Jeanne from Vanitas no Carte because they have a lot in common—wonderfully endearing ladies who also have an intense side, past trauma, a well-deserved reputation for being frighteningly talented at putting enemies six feet under, in service to a young master who offered them a brighter future, etc. I just think they should eat macarons together and be besties. :’)
28. The most unnecessary thing they ever did? Nothing really comes to mind? 🤔 Anything my girl does is significant to me! 💖
29. How do you think they would be as a parent? (and if they are a parent, how do you think they would be if they weren't?) An amazing mom. Since she’s prone to anxiety, Mey could definitely benefit from a partner to lend a hand (raising kids is stressful work), but her fierce protectiveness and warm, affectionate demeanor would carry the day more often than not. She’d be patient and gentle, and give the best hugs!
30. The funniest scene they had? Her stunned reaction to Finny’s spine-breaking tackle! 😂
