Badhaai Do (dir. Harshavardhan Kulkarni)
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Starring: Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Chum Darang
Language: Hindi
Shardul Thakur is a police officer, who is under constant pressure from his family to get married, but he isn't too keen on the idea because he's gay. Sumi works as a PE teacher and is also being pressured by her family to get married but she is lesbian. She goes to the police to make a harrassment case and meets Shardul. When he guesses that Sumi is lesbian, he proposes a plan: they will get married to get their families off their back. Problems arise, though, when their families continue to meddle in their lives and pressure them to have children.
I love a movie that talks about acceptance and realisation and the whole journey that comes with a queer character. So having not 1 but multiple such characters, especially in a desi setting, was really fun to watch. As with bollywood, this had a mix of everything; drama, humour, annoyingly invasive family members and a happy ending. It made me laugh so much, it also made me cry. It was perfect. Enjoyed watching this so much.

hey there, group one ♡ this year has been so busy for you my loves, far busier than for many. you have grown and changed so much, to be almost unrecognisable to the version of you from the beginning of the year, but you have not actually allowed yourself to step back and acknowledge this.
so here is your permission to be proud of yourself. you made it through this year, holding each day in the palm of your hand, even when it didn't feel like it.
you have let go of old beliefs this year. you have had your heart broken. you have learned to let go. you have learned to trust in the divine but, most importantly, you have learned to trust in yourself again.

hey there, group two ♡ 2022 has provided you with a venture that was so different from anything you had experienced in the past. at times this year, you found yourself feeling hopeless and in despair at the change that was thrust upon you.
this change that left you wondering if there could be any hope at all this year or if it would be all pain, suffering, and endings. especially when it comes to love. and not only love in relationships, but love for yourself.
this year was one tinged by depression or depressive lows, by sadness and uncertainties and an overwhelming feeling of loneliness that seemed to follow you everywhere.

because you got yourself out of that place. almost overnight you decided that this is not the life you want to live. you stopped identifying with this story and, in turn, the story changed for you. the world unfolded for you in beautiful ways and you started to find your feet again.
yes, it was far from pretty, but whose story is ever pretty? and, yes, you didn't get everything you wanted this year and at times those old insecurities and fears creep up, but that is okay.
you are only at the beginning of your journey, remember that–“you are still young and learning how to live”

life changing moment after life changing moment after life changing moment followed you in 2022, and for most of it you could not see how any of this could be beneficial to you.
you could not see how every end was only making way for a better beginning. you could not see why every time it seemed like life was coming together in your favour, everything seemed to fall apart. especially in love.
love, peace, happiness. these are all things that, this year, felt so far out of your reach. you fixated on it, like a teenager again, because of how starved you were of it, and questioned the state of your own mind and growth. you worried that there were so many better things to be worrying about so why should it be love at the forefront of your mind.

🎆 🥂 𝐻𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓎 𝒩𝑒𝓌 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇!!! 🥂🎆
*cue piano music* another year is gone and I know no one asked for this but I wanted to take the opportunity to do a little recap and also give shoutouts to some lovely people 🥺
It’s been a rollercoaster of a year, both for me personally and also regarding the content that came out. We got some amazing stuff but sadly there was also a lot of less amazing stuff and ultimately, the quantity > quality tendency dominated once again. 2022 was the year where I decided to take a few steps back in terms of my watchlist; I have come to the realization that the more stuff I watch, the more stressed I get - both regarding the pressure of always being up to date with everything, but also the pressure of creating content around said shows. Which might be a ridiculous thing to think but I usually have a feeling of insufficiency when it comes to my content. Which is why I put a few things on the backburner this year. Additionally I have also realized I’m not willing to put up with shows anymore that are not 100% to my satisfaction. Hate-watching is something I somewhat enjoyed before and admittedly there were a few shows that I watched despite not liking them (like unforgotten night or OMSN) which was mostly due to the amusement of making fun of them lmao. But I ended up finding a lot more joy in putting my whole focus on the few shows I genuinely enjoy, instead of watching an abundance of mediocre stuff on the side. Which was why the variety of content on my blog was a little limited this year.
I took a 3 month trip to Thailand where, amongst other things, I emerged myself into the on-site fan culture and got to see a bunch of actors close-up and while that was an incredible experience, it made me realize how insanely commercialised this industry really is and how exhausting it must be for these people to always appear at these events with perfect smiles and what not. which was also part of the reason why I stepped back. I don’t want to make this sound overly dramatic but that was the vibe I got when I was there. oh and also don’t forget that time where I got shadowbanned from tumblr for almost 1 month and thought I would never get my blog back... good times 😬
However despite all, I loved creating content for the things I was passionate about over the past year and I’m looking forward to making more in the next one!
I’m gonna post a personal top10 of the shows I watched this year shortly after this post goes up. Until then, I want to talk a bit about some of my favorite people this year - I’m not good with words lmao but thank you for being you and for making this hellsite a better place djkghdf 💜
@leonpob - bestie 🥺💜💜 you know you’re one of my favorite people, I love talking to you every day and sharing our thoughts on shows and other things!!! You radiate so much comfort for me and I can’t wait to continue our talks in the new year!!! 😘

3 Will Be Free (dir. Jojo Tichakorn Phukhaotong )
Genre: Action, Thriller, Romance
Starring: Joss Way-ar Sangngern, Tay Tawan Vihokratana, Mild Lapassalan Jiravechsoontornkul
Language: Thai
Neo is a stripper who is running away from the loan shark Thana and his gang, after having an affair with Thana’s wife Vanika. He ends up bumping into two people who will change his life: Shin, a gay boy, the son of Thana, and Miw, who is running away from her past. Accidentally, they end up killing one of the gang members who was chasing Neo, which makes them enemies of the gang. Now all three need to find a solution to escape from this situation together, while at the same time managing the physical and sentimental attraction that arises between them.
I absolutely loved this. Also the fact that I didnt even have to manipulate 3/4 of the scenes here, shows how colourful this series is. And I loved how P’Jo pushed the boundaries of convention and addressed some hard topics in a very chaotic and fun manner. Loved the pace of the show, and it was constantly keeping me on my toes. Also GMMTV needs to give more females guns!! Female characters with guns get shit done okay. It is a proven fact.

Here are my favorites from this last year 😗✌️
I like each of these for a different reason, they all have different things I'm proud of, like how i drew obito's soft gaze in the snuggling one, the tattoo design on sai, the creativity in the halloween costume drawing, how i think i captured gai's smile, etc etc.
Brain dump ahead:
Wow another year lived. It’s been.. a year. Well I got back into naruto again after one random week when I was super sick and i decided to binge watch all of shippuden except the end part, if I don't see it then its not real and it cant hurt me /j. After that ofc i got seriously insanely fucking obsessed. Mostly with obito. and also kakashi/kkob.. and rin/obkkrin... and a bunch of other characters and ships. but mostly. obito.
I've grown as an artist since I started drawing in this fandom again. My autistic powers of hyperfixation have allowed me to draw all the fucking time. Bc of that I've learned lots of new techniques and skills and have improved all around. I still struggle a lot with my self esteem and imposter syndrome as an artist, so I'm not always happy with what I make and where I'm at. But I am growing, and at least I’m proud of the parts of these drawings I mentioned.
Most importantly,I want to mention that I'm grateful for my followers, my mutuals, and all those who engage with my art. I do read the tags and I'm always grateful for the ones that are funny or kind or just plain keysmashes. 💕
To my mutuals- thank you for being so kind and hilarious and supportive to me. Especially in these last months which have been very hard for me physically and mentally. You all always manage to make my day a little brighter. It really means a lot. Sending everyone (not just my mutuals!!) some joy, love, and strength to get through this next year. (I thought about tagging my mutuals, but then i realized im afraid I'll forget someone and I'd feel awful for that)
Here's to 2023, and hoping that this year: 1. everyone's overall health improves as much as possible, 2. i get to keep drawing as often as i can, 3. bigots get curb-stomped and then decide to change their views and be better people /hj, 4. capitalism is dismantled, and 5. everyone gets at least one wish come true. No I’m not hoping for too much. I’ll do my best to make sure these hopes become reality.
