Sidney: [tuts] It’s not for your sake, I-… Oscar: Will you take a look at Byrd’s ears? Sidney: Wha-.. why? Oscar: I think he’s a bit deaf, watch-.. Wren, Byrd, c’mere! Sidney: He’s probably just stuffed up. Oscar: I don’t think so. [Wren instantly turned around upon hearing her name, excitedly heading towards Oscar’s outstretched arms] Oscar: Byrd… [Byrd seemingly ignores Oscar, eyes firmly glued to the TV] Sidney: See, this is why we never had a television. Oscar: It doesn’t matter what he’s doing, he can be staring into space n’ he’ll still ignore you. Sidney: Are you sure it’s not just selective hearing? You were always good at that… Oscar: Pfft-.. BYRD! [Byrd finally spins around, his little face full of confusion] Oscar: Awh, now he thinks I’m shouting at him-.. c’mere, buddy. [Oscar beckoned Byrd with a guilty smile, he didn’t like shouting at his kids, even if it was just an experiment] Sidney: I’m not an ear specialist, get him an appointment. Oscar: He hates going to the doctors though… Sidney: No, you hate it-.. stop being so bloody soft with ‘em. Oscar: [snorts] It’s better than being a hardass. Sidney: Is that what you think I am? [Oscar rolled his eyes and shrugged a shoulder, backtracking from the subject] Sidney: Do you-… [Sidney trailed off; Oscar wasn’t really listening anyway. She silently wondered if they ought to speak to someone about the past-.. a professional, perhaps. The hatchet they’d wordlessly buried had unearthed itself over time, especially now that her son had children of his own…] Oscar: Hm? Sidney: Nothing-.. we’ll just see how you cope once they start talking back. Oscar: Uh-huh.

What kind of April fool's day pranks do you think Ian and Mickey would pull on one another?

Lem! 🥰 That is SUCH a good and fun question!

I like to think it's mostly the others pulling pranks on THEM 😁

Tami calls them to say she's coming to pick Freddy up, to which Ian replies "we haven't got him!" and for one hot second he genuinely thinks he somehow lost his nephew when she starts laughing and he catches on.

They call Debbie about family dinner later tonight and ask her what they should bring, and she says she hasn't had time to buy or make anything, so can they maybe arrange the whole thing instead? Again, panic breaks out before Debbie bursts into giggles. "Relax boys, I've got it sorted. You just need to bring a pie."

Carl calls about some "unpaid parking tickets", Liam tells them he's decided to run for president and can he count on their vote? Fiona texts them that her flight has been cancelled and she can't make it after all.

They're utterly exhausted by the end of the day.

Then Mickey tells him he's got some bad news. He went to pick up a pie from their favorite bakery and guess what? It burned to the ground, pies and all.

This time, Ian doesn't fall for it. He can read his husband like a book, can tell from the twinkle in his eyes and the uplift of the corner of his mouth that he's playing with him.

Mickey drops down on the couch next to him. "And our Uber never made it here, either. Guess we gotta stay in tonight and eat pizza on the couch together, huh?"

And it might be the biggest prank pulled that day, not showing up for dinner when they'd agreed to, but the Gallaghers kinda had that one coming.

When Debbie calls later that night, Ian feigns innocence. "I thought it was April second we had scheduled family dinner?"

They show up with a pie but only after they had pizza and beers in the comfort of their own home, spending a bit of quality time in each other's company, completely prank free.
