warlord!sanji started off so fluffy T_T now it is making me cry. oh well suffering is as tasty as laughter :)

to continue the angst- i recently read a fic where sanji got abducted by germa and essentially turned into the winter soldier, brainwashing style, and it broke me, so ofc im going to spread the pain! judge fucks up big time by deciding to finally get some use out of his failure and arranges to have his remains, in the aftermath of a successful execution, to be brought back, revived, and altered into his mindwiped weapon. strawhats+warlords find out months later, when reiju, unable to disobey but desperate to save her brother, arranges things to get sanji a mission that happens to have him run across both of his families. they dont recognize him at first, just on guard by the raid suit.

but mihawk has haki. mihawk can recognize his son, even after everything thats been done to him.

they call after him--he doesnt recognize them, doesnt even recognize his own name, he flees after only a moment of hesitation, and. well. germa is going to burn.

ofc they get sanji back with the power of familial love and perhaps vegapunk threatened into finding a cure but before that there is bound to be a lot of angst as both crew and warlords struggle with a dehumanized sanji, trying not to hurt him when he is ordered to kill them. hahaha i feel very evil right now :')

So if you're the same anon I showed my friend who got me into OP your last ask and they were like "this was supposed to be a happy blog, what the fuck?" And I explained we all like sticking Sanji in a blender to see what happens. I'm also horrible at names so you may pick one! It's long.

Gods okay, so the execution is successful and the warlords are waging war and the Strawhats and Jinbei are going about their new normal. Maybe they all get wrapped up in one of Luffy's plots like usual when Mihawk looks around and Boa questions him and he says he thought he felt Sanji with his haki. He shrugs it off because Sanji is dead and they're all grieving still so it just has to be that. It has to be that, it has to be. But then they see the black suit with a big yellow 3 on it and the '66' for Germa on it and there is no mistaking that haki, that is Sanji, but he has black hair, his blue eyes behind the dark glasses are empty.

Boa steps forward and reaches a hand out but the Sanji disappears and so does his haki signature. Mihawk yells but nothing happens. Sanji is gone. Doflamingo strings around but his haki is nothing compared to Mihawk's or Jinbei's and he's gone. Such begins the search for Sanji. They search for weeks before they find him again.

When they do he's alone again and it's just the four warlords. The Strawhats continuing their journey without them. Sanji looks at them and Doflamingo strings him up before he can get away. Boa rushes forward to hold Sanji's face in her hands and try to calm their son down who is struggling against the strings making him a puppet. She coos and strokes his hair as the others rush forward and join in trying to calm him down which only makes him more agitated and they eventually knock him out and get him on a ship and sail off. Fuck Germa that's their kid and they will not lose him again.

They get him to an island Crocodile has procured somehow and set up operations there to start getting Sanji over whatever...this is. They also call the Strawhats to let them know they have Sanji and where they are. Boa tosses the Germa suit into the ocean and Mihawk gets him in some of his clothes which are too large for Sanji still. Crocodile sets up some tents and Doflamingo helps by setting a makeshift kitchen because he's pretty sure that's how they're going to get the kid back.

Crocodile accidentally brings up killing as he talks on the denden to baroque and is suddenly attacked by his son who was sitting with him staring into space. Croc is trying not to hurt the kid, he's not but fuck man hitting his son in the face with his hook did nothing. The others come to help and get Sanji calmed down. It happens again when Boa simply asks what she should bring back and what Sanji would like to wear. Sanji's hands around her throat are shocking because Sanji doesn't use his hands and Mihawk wraps his arms tightly around Sanji and wrestles him to the ground. The one thing they weren't expecting was the total meltdown of screaming and clawing at his own face when Doflamingo wrapped Sanji in a scarf and it covered his mouth and nose before Doffy could adjust it.

Mihawk who simply doesn't talk a lot pulls out a stack of children's books and reads to Sanji. As do the others and Doffy is very uncomfortable because that's not what he was doing with Sanji. Sanji would be running and swimming and fighting baby 5 and dodging all her weapons. Would practice his haki and learn the foulest of language. None of them knew how to be soft until Sanji and so having to go back to a softness that has been almost forgotten is strange and rough.

Months later and lots of fights and bruises and broken bones and cuts, Sanji's skin is no longer metal, his hair is almost all blond again and he is talking again. No where near as foul as he once was but he is talking. He's cooking with all his present parents so they deem him well enough to finish with his crew. So they take him to his crew where he is weary around them.

Luffy is so excited to see Sanji, as is the crew but it's Luffy. He is, was?, Sanji's boyfriend. He loves Sanji and Jinbei is also excited and Boa is explaining to everyone they think they got all of the trigger words and he's mostly back to normal. What they've been doing. Luffy just rubber bands to Sanji and kisses his cheek and just starts talking about how the crew and he missed him. Sanji is blinking at him as Zoro and Robin step forward to intervene if need be, but it's fine.

They leave with nods and handshakes to Jinbei and a hug from Boa to Jinbei and Luffy. Another few months later the other warlords get a picture of Sanji, back to normal, smiling and holding Luffy who is planting a big kiss to Sanji's cheek. Zoro is using the opportunity to steal sake in the background of the photo but his face is stupidly fond of the two idiots in the foreground.

Chan would call and describe Karma as someone who is a menace to society. Plain and simple. There is moment where this man has questioned his life choices and why he is friends with someone like Karma. Once, they were deciding her stage name right? And they came out with different things, Belle, April, her nickname Dawn, Amber. Then Chan joked about her stage name being Karma as she brings hell to people who do her wrong but....it wasnt a joke anymore. Let me tell you this man was flabbergasted when he found out Karma chose....well the name Karma.

Then their dynamic is a popular one within the group or like one of the most popular with Karma. It goes like Minho × Karma , Chan × Karma and I.N × Karma etc. Their dynamic consists of different things. Bickering Husband × wife, a worried father × crazy daughter, done Boyfriend × crazy Girlfriend. This girl gives my man white hairs. Then the whole shipping thing with them they've talked about it and they agreed that its fine and agreed just not to search up anything between them a reason is because Talia and Karma did that with Nct × Talia.....never again.

"Channie."

"Do you think I flirt too much?" Chan spit out his coffee almost burning himself coughing while Karma pats his back to help him a little.

"What?" He turned to her confused and concerned.

"Do you think I flirt too much with some of the guys?" She asked again. Chan sighed thinking its too early for this he just wanted his morning coffee.

"No why?" He rubbed his face a little trying to wake up more to proccess the conversation.

"Because I read comments and stuff not like I'll stop I like my playful flirting its fun." She smiled to herself and while Chan shook his head.

"I mean no, if you're having fun with it and the company isn't saying anything then I dont see the harm its not like you flirt with the younger ones." He pointed out while Karma nodded in agreement. She didn't like flirting with the younger members Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N. she honestly found them too cute and adorable too. She really just flirts with Chan, Minho definitely and Changbin, sometimes she does flirt with Hyunjin but thats on a rare occasion. Like she'll compliment him on his skills or looks but flirting is usually when he starts it. She always wins.

"True true." He looked at her while she was in thought, he knows for a fact that question wasn't only coming from her reading comments if that were it, she would laugh it off or not mention it at all, there was something else.

"Whats the real reason?" He bumped her knee with his to get her attention, she looked down then at him hesitating to tell him.

"So there was this guy..."

"Dawn-"

"Wait wait let me finish~" she stopped him before he could scold her. She took a little deep breathe.

"So he was talking to me and I was ignoring him but he kept babbling to me not getting the hint then he slapped the drink out my hand calling me a whore for flirting with all my group members and said I bet you always on your knees..." Chan's eyes softened picturing the scene.

"Dawn..."

"So I kicked him behind his knees, then his dick, once he was on his knees I said I dont know about you but it seems like you are always on your knees as you seem like a natural. Then pushed him to the side making him fall over and walking over to get a new drink." She said belatedly, Chan stopped mid way as he was about to give her a hug slowly backing away. Karma looked at him confused seeing his scared face.

"What are you so afraid of?"

"You"

Ship Trades

This is something that people have asked me to do for a while so I have decided to make it a permanent feature.

How It Works:

Below I have my favorite groups as well as information about me I feel is important. To do a ship trade all you have to do is send an ask/submission telling me who you ship me with and then send me information about yourself as well as your favorite groups and I will do the same. If you dont want to include other groups I will ship you with the same groups as you did for me.

Ship trades are different than standard ships because there is no limit, you can be as vague or detailed as you wish and I will match it.

Ex. If you ship me with 5 different idols I will do the same for you. I will also match formatting and descriptions.

These are NOT required and you are more than welcome to keep requesting standard ships if you prefer this is just for fun and also serves as a get to know me. If you have any questions do not hesitate to let me know.

About me:

I was born in 2002 and my big three are Gemini sun, Taurus moon, Leo rising. My personality type is INFP and the best way to describe me is on the more reserved and soft spoken side. I can be shy but even when I open up to people I'm not really someone who gets loud or overly hyper. I was born in Tennessee and even though I don't currently live there I do still have the Southern accent which I lowkey hate. I try to hide it but it does come out with certain words, especially terms of endearment which I love using. I'm always calling people terms live Love, Honey, or Darling rather than their names.

In terms of appearance I am on the tall side (6'1) and decently curvy. I prefer not to show off my figure though so I usually dress in clothes that are less revealing like oversized hoodies. I definitely dress more gothic and prefer darker colors. I'm pretty pale with blue eyes and as of September 2023 my hair is dyed black with blonde peaking under it (it's naturally auburn). I don't have many piercings but I do have two on my nose and three on my ears, I also have three tattoos, one on my wrist one on my arm and one on my stomach. I do wear glasses and am basically blind without them.

I am currently in college studying theatrical production with a specialty in costume design and stage makeup. I love everything to do with theater but specifically I love making and designing new costumes/outfits. I also love dressing up my friends if they let me. My other interests are art, writing, music, and baking though I'm absolutely awful at it. I also love everything to do with fall and Halloween/horror. I do startle but I don't scare easy. I also love animals and currently have two orange kittens, one named Felix and the other Hoshi. I don't have many dislikes but I do startle easy so I hate loud noises, my other major dislike is salty foods.

Thats kind of the basics but if you want to know anything else do not hesitate to ask!

Hello, friend! Apologies for bothering you but I had a quick fanfic question and you seem like a friendly person to go to!

So, I just got into writing, but I'm a longtime reader. *However* most of the fics I've read come from AO3, not tumblr. So I'm not "knowledgeable" on how to post work on here, so to speak.

That being said, what are the appropriate tags I should make for a fic? Also, how in the fuck do I make a banner?! I've tried making one for a previous work but I just think it's the wrong size?!?

If you have any answers, I would happily appreciate it 🙏

hello hello!!! i'm honored u decided to come ask me aww 🥺🥺 i will do my best to respond!! (keep in mind tht there rly arent any set technicalities to this, it's just what i do!!)

so of course tag the relationship first i would say. im gna use bkg as an example lmaooo so like 'bakugou x reader'. use both his first name and full name in separate tags (bkg katsuki x reader, katsuki x reader) bc you never know how people will look up certain tags. and since people spell his last name differently also tag that. i think there's a thing where ur post appears in only the first 5 tags u use??? but im not sure if thats legit. id still be wary.

i personally wouldnt tag an x reader fic as simply 'bnha' or anything bc like... the x reader niche is pretty mmm small n unique and i dont think ppl who arent into it wanna see y/n fics in the mha tag LOL but thats just me. keep it to the x reader tags or whatever fic youre writing, be it ship fic or whatevr, it's the same process.

u could also tag it as like 'bakugou imagine' or 'bakugou fluff' or smthn. and you can also create a unique tag for specifically your writing so that people can easily look it up instead of hunting for a masterlist! like you can do, idk '__ writings'. makes it easier when theyre on your blog since they can search for its content

in the case of x reader fics, i'd also use 'bkg x y/n' or 'bkg x you' bc again, never know how people will search for smthn.

and make sure you tag any TWs too! for instance, 'tw blood' or 'cw blood'. its good to use both for people who have the tags blocked!! i also find its nice to insert warnings/mentions at the top of your post! like if the reader is fem or gn, if its an AU, any TWs, if its fluff/angst/hurt, the pairing, anything you can think of that you blv readers will want to know abt! maybe add a short summary or a lil snippet.

so. banners. i personally use canva bc its free<3 my banners are 3000 x 1055 px! ive found tht it works p well. you could probably increase the height more, up to u. just fiddle around with the sizing! the lil dividers are typically 3000 x 40 px for me, but only bc i think 40 is the smallest canva can go lol

God the better question is WHO DONT I LIKE????

obviously obsessed with Wei Wuxian the prettiest little shit ever. He is nicknamed Bestie. I have a lot of feelings about him but mostly I think he is shojo manga heroine levels of wonderful and I love him for that.

Then we got Lan Wangji who has some of the BEST sass. I loved him in the drama because his acting was so good despite so few lines, but omg in the book is is AMAZING. The scene where they play tag bdsm style??? Obsessed he is baby. Also the novel makes me think he's ASD coded which makes me very happy yes.

His nickname is Boyfriend because of course. He is also shojo manga levels of heroine and hero and he rocks it. I will gift him many bunnies and ribbons to tie up wwx with sjsjfjjs.

I could watch them watch each other for hours ajdjjdjsjjd I'm usually good at not shipping real life people but god....please give me strength their bts videos are just sjfjkakfkks.

Then we get the other characters who all have important nicknames as well. Wen Ning is Puppy Bestie because he is a puppy. Im honestly in shock that his actor is actually one of the oldest cast members because um what????? This baby be 30+?????

I loved him and his sister so much and was so upset that her death was just like off screen????? Excuse me????? For my queen?????

She is Queen Bestie of course. I worship the ground she walks and honestly I need fix it fics. Also her friendship with wwx was so good????? Like I just wanted them to bffs why did they do her dirty whyyyyy.

The best part of their dynamic was me realizing I have chaotic middle child energy like wwx. And she's such a good big sister like she made me want to call my own and tell them I love them and thanks for making that god awful kraft Mac and cheese with soy sauce and Broccoli and did I mention I cried a lot? Lan Xichen is Brother Bestie but honestly he should really be the Number 1 Wangxian Shipper and Wingman.

Boy knew his lil brother was pining over a dead evil guy for decades and supported him. We stan.

I just realized I didn't give Nie Huisang a nickname oops but also i saw somewhere that his idea of faking incompetence so other people will get shit done is genius. I love him, I want to be him. Hence forth he shall be known as Girlboss Bestie.

I kinda hate myself for this but I also have a soft spot for Xue Yang. He's such a petty little piece of shit but also his crazy and evil vibes were just so good. Would personally like to sue mxtx for the emotional abuse that was the Yi City arc thank you. Blissfully ignoring canon to say that the moment Song Lan left that city A-Qing and Xiao Xingchen came back to life from the power of gay vibes and found family alone thank you very much.

so. i have multiple f/os that i consider my mains, but my longest term one is actually antisepticeye !!!! i cannot help it i was so deep in youtuber fandom in 2016 and my brain latched onto him like a baby duckling and now he lives here forever . however i do not associate myself with that fandom at all anymore so he has basically become like an oc to me LMAO. i had a reallt specific fanon version of him that i used to draw all the time and a backstory that i had basically written out entirely and then when my bad fandom stuff happened i decided "nvm you guys cant have him anymore hes mine now" i have been shipping with him sinceeee i believe late 2016/early 2017 ?? yea!!! hes my fucked up little guy forever i love him so much. hardcore comfort character do not mind the fact that he is covered in blood ans has probably murdered people. hes silly <3 my tag for him on this blog is the knife emoji (🔪) and i dont really have an s/i i just ship him with. okay now questions:

have i ever seen a moose - god i wish. i dont even think moose live in my part of canada? (just googled it and they dont. very sad day for me)

temperature over here - rn its 6 degrees, in the summer it gets up to like 30 degrees, & winter usually gets down to around -10 at most.

favourite fic of all time - oooh this is a hard one. now i dont really read fics for any other fandom, its kinda for marauders for me so. my wip favourites are disintegration by moonymoment, crimson rivers by zar, edge by pinkpalaceapartments (another agent-james assassin-reg fic, based on killing eve), kill your darlings by messermoon, and ofc dead or alive (i guess i have a thing for assassin reg and agent james LOL) now for finished fics... the winner is gonna have to go to just lovers (like we were supposed to be) by zar. (and intermission by zar too since it fits in there) its just perfect and i feel like ive reread it a billion times.

fav golden trio era ship - probably luna and neville (do they have a ship name? i cant think of it if they do) they were my favourite characters as a kid so they have a special place in my heart. OH i also love romione because theyre just a classic and i love them sm.

do i write fics - sadly no. ive tried and failed. im not a creative writer at all, in fact im literally the opposite, call me the grammar police. im essentially the designated paper editor among my friends because im fantastic at technical writing and stuff like that, but i cant write for shit. i truly envy people who can create such beautiful stories.

tea or coffee - coffee always. i do love tea and have it probably just as much as coffee but i will always be a coffee girly.

go to outfit - hmm. well i basically live in my doc martens and leather jacket (very sirius of me i must say) and i do love a good baggy jean and band tee look. but on my off days you cannot find me out of my sweatpants or pajamas. its simply not happening.

how many piercings - 4, two on each earlobe. (2 i did myself with a sewing needle, dont recommend) i really wanna get my septum or just the nostril, but i havent decided yet. although id probably never get it, i do love the look of the medusa piercing too its just cool.

area of study - im studying classics and anthroplogy in uni rn! ive always been a history/humanities girly and i love ancient history and languages so much so thats what i decided to do. Thor: Love and Thunder

I dont know in which moment I decided I needed to write to fully digest what I saw but it does help to get my toughts in orders, so im doing it again!

Disclaimer: I only saw the movie once, yesterday, and im reviewing it from that experience. I heard a few people saying its more enjoyable after a second watch, but I will have to wait until it is on disney plus to see if its true or not.

Now, time to start. SPOILERS AHEAD

Overall I really enjoyed his movie. I like the story, the characters, the music and the visuals (the scene on the shadow realm? BEAUTIFUL. The Omnipotent city? GLORIOUS) but I dont think the tone or dialogues are helping the story to reach its full potential. Do not get me wrong, I was expecting jokes and a comedic tone but not to this degree.

Anyway, on some scenes.

1) The narration. I understand the purpose of it. Its easy exposition, it allows us to watch the relationship between Thor and Jane and its related to the idea of myths and legends being told from parents to kids but... it breaks the movie too much for liking. The voice and dialogue doesnt help either, specially with Korg not bothering to remember Jane`s name.

Yes, I know its referencing other actors but... what for?

2) SIF IS BACK. I havent watch Loki or Agents of Shield so I was not aware she was alive, but im so glad to see her again. Its a pity that she only has a few seconds of screentime and its reduced to a joke when Thor (a friend she hasnt seen in 8 years) finds her wounded in the battlefield. Which reminds me....

Why does Sif (An Asgardian Warrior) needs to be explained the rules on how to get to Valhalla? I understand this is actually for the audience but it just doesnt make sense for this character to be explained something that she already knows. You could have used Jane for it and it would tied her a bit more with Valhalla and her postcredits scene.

2.1) I would have cheered so much if Korg tried to take Sif to the hospital during the attack on New Asgard and she is just like: NOPE. Broke free and joined the battle. Not only would it be badass (and funny, with Korg running after her) but it would had made sense with a character that was not there when Asgard was destroyed.

3) The scene where Jane goes to fight Gorr? The look between them? It devastate me. It didnt need dialogue, it didnt need close up. It was just them... realizing this was the last time they would see each other. Brillant. I take my hat off

4) The kids fighting and many of them not being asgardians, but from other races and/or places? I love it. Its a bit kids-movie but hey, it was fun.

5) Jane's mother: what was the point on that scene? We do not need to know where the cancer is coming from (specially knowing Jane held the Ether on her body just 3 years back -8 years total with the blip-) and I dont think we need her as a justificaton of Jane being angry or sad with her situation. Those minutes could have been used better imo.

6) Gorr`s daughter doesnt...emote. Her father is dying in front of her just to give her a second chance at life and she doesnt seems distraught, sad or anything. Just like “Welp, time to find a new caretaker. Oh hi Thor”

7) The plot-convenience use of StormBraker`s Bifrost. It works just fine during the begginign of the movie (from the first planet to Sif and from there to New Asgard), then breaks for us to use the ship to Omnipotent City and the Shadow Realm and then magically goes back to fully working again to travel to the center of the universe + taking the kids back to New Asgard.

I love the goats and the ship is trully amazing but there should be a better way to explain all of this.

And I think thats all I have to comment! I do have a bigger question regarding the necrosword and the gods, but I will leave that for another post.

Thats interesting to read. Idk to me Vax is always a big sulking asshole and i really didnt like how he treated Vex and Keyleth sometimes and kind is definitely not a word id use for him. I admit that Liam's play style isnt really my thing and im not a fan of either of his pcs and maybe my annoyance at the fans of both Vax and Caleb makes me judge them more harshly than others. But the next time i rewatch i'll look for what you're saying. I still dont think i would describe him as kind though.

Yeah...I've talked about this before and I'm not maintagging this because I'm happy to field good-faith questions but I'm not interested in hardcore discourse but while I do think Liam has this weird polarized following that is unhinged on both ends, and while I also think it's totally valid to have negative feelings about something because the fans are very annoying, one still must actually look at canon and be like "okay I don't like this but is it true".

There are definitely choices made by Vax I don't love, but I really can't think of a time when he treated Vex or Keyleth unkindly. The harshest moment I can think of with Vex is him telling her he doesn't feel comfortable talking about Keyleth with her, and she was being pretty aggressive to start with. For that matter, even when I haven't liked Liam's acting or playstyle choices I've generally found him to be a pretty strong advocate for the women of the cast; one thing that always stands out to me is Liam and Sam telling anyone who was attempting to interrupt the cupcake scene that there was literally no reason to do so and to let Laura continue finishing out what she was trying to do, or Liam using Lieve'tel to explicitly state in-game that Vex and Keyleth would live full lives without Vax there, or making a concerted effort to have scenes with Ashley to get her back into the swing of things and incorporate Yasha into the group.

I mean I think I've been particularly vocal about how badly the fandom treated Jester w/r/t Caleb, and I feel the same thing happened with Vex and Keyleth w/r/t Vax, but I think I've also been equally vocal that it was purely within the fandom and never in canon (and, indeed comes from the same exact place of letting love of a character lead them away from the literal events).

Basically I find myself in an awkward middle regarding something that as said is really polarized, where I'm like "people who loudly proclaim how they are sobbing each time Vax's name is mentioned and argue that the Mighty Nein should have abandoned all their individual goals and desires to focus solely on Caleb can fuck off, but also people who ignore the entirety of canon because they've decided to direct their bile towards just some guy from New Jersey instead of at a Republican politician or something can fuck off". And in the end, it's two loud tiny minorities and a lot of people who I suspect feel roughly as I do but the internet does not reward boring measured opinions and also a lot of people understandably do not have my personality trait of "well someone's gotta hit the wasp's nest with a bat."

tl;dr it's totally cool if an actor's style does not work for you and to be irritated at segments of the fandom to the point that it shifts your opinions on characters/ships/whatever, but I do feel it's absolutely crucial to step back and look at what actually happened on the show, otherwise one runs the risk of becoming only against things rather than enjoying one's self.

Al’s got a new love interest in the form of a character who I still desperately need to name but basically hes a casino owning vampire thats a one of Al’s info dealers and is head over heals for the Detective while the mans totally oblivious. -(Superhero story, Also needs a name) Two vigilantes, Snow Owl (her power is she can change her arms into large white wings) and Freeze Queen (Shes got typical ice powers), They’re a crime fighting duo. -(Out of Space) Sci-Fi badass space General who I just call the Captain right now and her plucky friend Diego the Artist (and Wizard though some would disagree) Thats just some, god I should really talk about my OCs more 2) Last Song I’ve been listening to “Give and Take” by Poor Mans Poison on repeat as I desperately try and story board an animation Ill probably never make in my brain :’] 3) Currently Watching Been watching Columbo (the old Detective show) recently, Gianni Matragrano’s channel turned me on to it, its actually pretty good :D

Headcanon post!! This time about my take on Tsu & Riptides relationship :> I like the two but not really as a couple, they have their sweet moments but overall I have a different Tsu ship that I like better, but I’ll post about that one later 😔👊 Eitherway enjoy this for now :)

• After the events at the Sandwing Stronghold the two met up one on one, Tsunami thanked Riptide for helping with Clay and Riptide thanked Tsunami for helping to save the tribes. It was both awkward and sweet all at once

• Riptide put a lot of funds into building JMA and often turned to the Dragonets of Destiny for ideas on rebuilding the Talons of Peace; he mainly spoke to Tsunami on certain topics because she’s the most passionate and then speaks to Sunny & Starlight on how to make those ideas more realistic hegvshasgh

• During this time Tsu & Riptide become closer and decided “sure lets do this partner thing together >:)”

• Both of them hate using the term “boyfriend” or “girlfriend” and just refer to themself and eachother as “partner”

This definitely isn’t because I despise those terms and they make me uncomfortable and I dont want to have to write them hahah nope

• Riptide valued honestly in their relationship more, he still felt very guilty for how he treated her in their first meeting (as in not telling her about his parentage) and is always transparent with her. Tsunami recognizes this and does the same, they have fun meeting up and taking about their day’s to eachother

• Riptide always tries his best to respect Tsunami’s space, as she’s vented to him about feeling like a lot of the turmoil still going on after the war is still on her talons and enjoys being alone to shake off the pressure of others eye’s [based off canon things said by Riptide]

• Tsunami made up a lot of dumb nicknames for the two and often helped name things in the Talons of Peace

• Tsu used to surprise visit Rip when there would be an influx of dragons to sanctuary; Riptide gets overwhelmed easily in a position of power and Tsunami would give him good pep talks and make horrible jokes (and the occasional AMAZING song) to help him calm down

• The two would write letters to eachother a lot and co-owned a messenger osprey :)

• They had a solid relationship for a long while, they could easily bounce off eachother and felt really comfortable with eachother, finding it easily to talk and be honest with the other

• One day Anemone presented the “so when are you two getting married??” Question, and that stumped them. That night they were like “okay so like I forgot we were dating.” They had hung out a lot and always looked towards their monthly/weekly meet-ups, and yet they didn’t really do any of the common couple stuff, like being physically affectionate, going on dates, and at that point they had felt kinda strange calling the other “partner”

Note; Lack of dates & PDA doesn’t mean the relationship isn’t “good”!! PDA is not a requirement for relationships all the time!! I used some of those as examples, but thats not like,, a relationship requirement ya know?? tsu & rip just realized that they didn’t have a romantic attraction to eachother. I just wanna stress that that’s not like,, a requirement for relationships if ya know what I mean?? Like,, just love eachother and if you dont want to show it physically a lot thats okay !! Love how you want to love :)💕

• After a few weeks of deliberation they kinda realized that they didn’t have much of a romantic attraction to the other, and just preferred to be friends. This was kinda hard for them at first, as they questioned the true extent of their friendship, but after a month or so they hung out as normal again, and still treat eachother the same as before, but with the comfort of knowing that they are best bros 😎👊

• This happened twords the end of Winter Turning !

• They love going out on flights together and just hanging out, they still talk about everything together but now they talk about their crushes as well >:)

• Riptide was the last dragon Tsunami spoke to before leaving Phyrrhia, everyday he debated sending out their Osprey to track her but always decided agenst it

[mild spoilers for book 14]

• When Tsunami got back from Pantala she was desperate to get back to Riptide for the sole purpose of telling him all about Io (because fuck you (/lh) tsu x io gives me life blood)

• Once they finally met back up they both stayed up all night talking about Pantala and building Sanctuary and any and everything else

• Riptide’s first action upon meeting Io will be warning her about Tsunami being bad at singing but to just go along with it

nessian analysis

im not sure if this qualifies as an analysis? It's basically me just explaining why I didn't like the nessian relationship, what it lacked, what sjm should have done.

I will be using the “anti-nessian” tag bc there are many softies here on Tumblr who get pissy whenever you have some things to say abt a beloved character or relationship that dont paint them as gods even though i dont hate them. I DO NOT hate nessian, I am not the biggest fan of them, im not entirely fond of them, I personally think we were robbed of a much deeper and flushed out relationship, but I do not hate nessian whatsoever.

also please for the love of god don’t get butthurt and start talking about how feysand is the boring one, how feysand is so vanilla, in retaliation. stop. it makes you look childish. if you hate what i have to say abt your ship, move on. you don’t need to come on a nessian post and start talking about other ships. yes i realize i mention feysand, and rowaelin, but it was to compare how sjm usually writes her main couples.

with that being said, let's move forward.

sjm in the past has done an amazing job when writing romantic relationships. She's so wonderful at establishing a friendship, at establishing an emotional connection, before any romance takes place. like with rowaelin, we got to see rowan and aelin forge a friendship, from hating one another to respecting each other. before it was romantic love, it was friendly love first, it was love and respect for their friendship that made aelin threaten that bitch who i forgot the name of but who wouldn't stop touching rowan and aelin bathed her in fire until she stopped. it was the love and respect for their friendship that made rowan fight against his cadre to go save aelin, it was that love that made aelin go to maeve, threaten her ppl so Rowan could be free.

all of this built up to the amazing relationship that is Rowaelin. it took establishing an emotional connection between the two to make what is their relationship now. the romantic/sexual part of their relationship is amazing as well, but it wouldn't have been amazing were it not for the trust their relationship was built on first.

it's the same thing with feysand, their relationship built on trust first, on friendship, on emotional talks, on sharing their thoughts and feelings, on sharing hard truths with one another. on feyre trusting rhys with how she felt abt the whole tamlin situation, it built on rhys sharing his past, on sharing some of those horrific moments of UTM, it built on them fighting with one another, it's what made chapter 55 so amazing because it built up. it wasn't just sex right off the bat, it was forging a connection much more powerful than sex.

which brings me to my main point, that nessian definitely lacks all of this. before it even starts, i know there are ppl who might say “but nessian was building during acomaf/acowar?” yes, it was, we knew that there was something between them. but can you really call it an emotional build up btwn them? i mean we saw it through the eyes of feyre, so we didn't really see much of substance. we saw them exchange glances, nesta insult cass, cass tease nesta, even that one bonus chapter, but that wasn't enough buildup. because even in that bonus chapter we mainly just got to see cass corner nesta to a wall and learn how he was so turned on by her. nothing of depth and substance.

you would expect sjm to bring this to their book. but it didn't happen. perhaps she as well thought that was enough of a build up to them, i wouldn't put it past her, her writing skills definitely are questionable in this book.

but where were the talks? where was nesta confiding to cassain abt her mother? abt her life being groomed for marriage? abt the years during the poverty, abt how she felt disgusted by herself for what she had done to feyre. for what she had not done for their family? for what she felt with her fathers death, how she felt abt elain, how she was coping?

where were the talks in which cassian confided in nesta? in where he talks abt his years in the illyrian camps, in what happened in those moments when he murdered a whole illyrian village, in which he learned he would never be able to bury his mother. the talks where he tells her how it felt to be separated from his brothers, how he felt when rhys was trapped, how it felt when feyre was taken, how it felt when he thought him and nesta were to die, at hybern and at the war.

where was the teasing? the laughing? the pinning each other down during training, the talks during training. where was the friendship being built? just because cass tells nesta he was always her friend doesn't mean it’s not important to see it.

instead all we got was training and fucking and fucking and training. instead we got nesta jacking off cassian 200 pages in? i mean thats so out of character of nesta. this fiery woman who spent three books pushing cassian away, who made it known she ‘despised’ cassian, who made it clear she would not touch or even try to interact with cassian during her stay at the house of wind, but all of a sudden she just loses that and jacks him off? i mean the fact that nesta kept pushing cassian away was such a great opportunity for sjm to take and make it slow burn. teasing touches, never going too far but enough it made the other shiver. i mean that when the pinning each other down in training would have come in handy. but instead sjm just decided to change nestas character just like she changed cassians as well.

(note: i am not slut shaming nesta, before any of y'all try to twist it that way, i am merely stating how in my perspective that was not something nesta would have done with cassian.

not to forget how cassian would literally leave nesta after their sexual encounters! please tell me i’m not the only one who notices that the cassian from acomaf/acowar/acofas would not have done that. this man has practically been in love with nesta since day one and he just straight up says “thanks for the ride” and leaves? uhhhh what? the cassian i knew and loved would not have done that. i mean him staying after those encounters would have been the perfect opportunity for them to have deep talks, for them to get to know one another. i mean they both claim to know each other, but do they really?

the mating revelation was soo underwhelming too. i wanted passion, i mean thats what i was promised no? from both sjm and the nessian stans. so where was that passion during the mating revelation? i mean sjm had aelin realize rowan was her mate after rowan was shot, and she felt the fear of losing him. had rhys know fully when feyre was dying and he was trying to get to her. had ferye realize when they professed their love for each other, and she realized she had healed with him. even goddamn lucien and elain knew in such an intense way as well. and nessian? on a sidewalk. with cassian demanding nesta say it, and nesta robotically denying it.

all im saying is that we were robbed. i like sex between two characters as much as the next person but sex doesn't matter unless there is a deep emotional connection between the two, its what makes chemistry between two characters amazing.

also lets mention how cassian didn't even say i love you to nesta. PLSSS WHAT WAS THAT

the only part in the whole 700+ page book that actually felt deeper and much more stronger between the two of them was when nesta broke down and admitted she hated herself and cassian consoled her. but that was what? 3 pages and then they proceeded to continue to fuck during their “healing hike” nah that aint it

all im saying is that nessian was much more fun and sexy when it was through feyre’s perspective.

thoughts: my absolute absolute absolute favorite iwaoi fic. the characterization, the fact that oikawa’s a bastard but because he and iwaizumi are older (late 20s i believe), it feels more realistic and sad rather than oikawa being a bitch for the sake of it. spoiler alert it’s slow burn and pining and mostly oikawa not realizing his feelings. this world building is pretty cool bc iwaizumi is the professional player while oikawa is an entomology professor! also i love non-linear narratives bc of This fic. there’s mutual pining in this fic but it’s really really really subtle to the point where you dont even know if oikawa likes iwa. this made me cry like twice.

sunset towns

Summary: In the summer of 2020, Oikawa Tooru returns home from his first successful stint as captain of Japan’s national volleyball team. In one hand, he holds the undisputed weight of an Olympic medal, and in the other, his unresolved feelings for a childhood best friend.

thoughts: the tone in this is So similar to the courtship ritual that I liken this as an alternate story even though it’s still oikawa’s pov. professional player oikawa and regular guy iwaizumi and oikawa is just. bumming around at iwaizumi’s place and naturally he messes up but things happen.

thoughts: oikawa retires and moves in with iwaizumi and they blur the line between roommates/best friends and being fwb. this is an iwaizumi pov and the pining is obvious on his end. as a iwa stan the tone made me feel weird bc it makes it seem like iwa cares more abt oikawa than he cares abt himself but. its a good fic

thoughts: this is also SO funny bc basically oikawa retires and moves in with iwaizumi and becomes his stay at home wife and a bunch of shit happens like people think that oikawa is dating ushijima and oikawa basically loses it every time. here’s one of my favorite quotes:

thoughts: so funny. so sososoosso genuinely funny. the tone is so snappy and iwaizumi honestly just sounds like a confused teenager (which he is in this) and it gets extra points for including a lot of american culture that a lot of the other iwaoi college au ones don’t include for like. obvious reasons lol.

Summary: In which Oikawa and Iwaizumi have always been a foregone conclusion to everyone else, but a massive, unanswered question to one another.

Good day. I finished nrh. I know that almost all the episodes have a general theme. like, for example (correct me if im wrong)

ep 2: imperialism, ep 3: clownery of starting wars over mistresses and love, ep 5: breaking the cycle of violence, plus: holmes "pity the age of knights (glory) is gone" watson "nope it's (unnecessary bloodshed) not", ep 6: cops, ep 7: was there a theme or just adblock

But could you enlighten me on the theme of ep 8? And why was the ep named after the dog?

holy shit i didnt even think of it that way!

idk if i mentioned it or not, but the show explicitly talks about contemporary russian issues that sometimes do and sometimes very much dont overlap with what was happening in england at that time. this is why moriarty is just russian mafia, police are easily bribed, idk even abandoned war veterans is precisely what happened after the soviet-afghan war. a lot of such issues are sadly familiar to folks from other countries, but i did wonder sometimes whether what episode 8 went for was.

first of all, in my opinion, the episode is general decided to defy all expectations. like shitty ep7 did the exact opposite, looked like the gang of scriptwriters (there were at least 4 or even 5 credited) gave up and decided to give the audience what it wanted: a what they interpreted as a (needless) romance, a waterfall fight, a fakeout drama, like sure mates. thats what every sh adaptation is about, you can have it. begrudgingly. but everything in the last episode twists those expectations, all these funny fakeouts like HOLMS ALIVE?? - shot of an unrelated homeless dude going ??, HOLMS IS BAK?? - mycroft comes in, plus yea the entire mycroft reveal lmaooooooo iconique. moriarty is back, adler fucking dies - all unexpected and thus very enjoyable imo. this is why, again just my opinion, they did it with such fervent almost hatred towards the previous episode, like they included the waterfall fight, but they knew it wasnt their real fight. two four-eyed loser bitches do not culminate in a fistfight and it was clearly shown they kinda suck at it - their real fight was atop of big ben, peacefully sitting next to each other while the real brawl was happening through their real weapons - their brains. that was their real reichnebach. which once again begs the question as to whyyy the fuck did episode 7 need to happen at all but oh well.

as for the theme, it is clear from the reveal of what were the documents stolen by bobby bobbyarty. the country selling itself while playing up the importance of patriotism to its people. the rise of this shit NOW is truly concerning in russia, like how besides the usual propaganda we also deal with bots, who on the day of protests this january started a twitter hashtag supporting the cops that said KEEP WORKING, BROTHERS, as to celebrate the camaraderie of them beating up civilians, shit was insane. how last month after that the festival for the graduates that ends with a ship with scarlet sails emerging, which this year for the first time ever also included the russian flag tricolor sails on it. all of this bs while just two days ago we had a story uncovering some politician who was secretly cutting half of siberia's forests down to sell to ikea, how baikal is being polluted because we need to be uwu with chinese businesses. even drifting away from russia, the uk painfully follows that entire SUPPORT THE NHS gig where they'd organise these clap for the nhs evenings, express their support on billboards n shit, just to cut the nhs salaries by the end of it <3 and to relegate the development of covid tracing apps and feeding children to private companies whomst have appropriated most of the budget instead of doing their jobs. this is the cynicism of the last nrh episode, as sherlock said it basically, we're all out here clapping for our dear queen, wahoo great britain, the pride and joy is our crown and achievements, while the crown is licherally selling itself and couldnt care less about your patriotism or traditions. very real for us, also real for other countries, they're just more subtle about it.

and as for the title, once again it's subverting your expectations. like oh yea, the hound, every adaptation has to have that huh. disregarding the fact that hound was basically shared 70/30% with the musgrave ritual, hound obviously had the 30% of it. heres yer fucking hound gotem. they did prepare us for it since it's not THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVIILES, it's what it's kinda currently translated to english as the hound named baskerville, which ended up being one big joke bc thats the whole trophy holmes got for his torment. watson hates the dog so much he writes a whole story about it being a massive nasty bitch whomst then gets shot five times damn!!!! also meta points since the queen gifting the baskerville dog to holmes is played by soviet mrs barrymore, and watson's editor waving at us right before the credits is mr barrymore himself. we got baskervilled up the ass there

my thoughts on the crank palace

i touched about this a bit on twitter (@newtedison_) but i figured i would Try and touch on my points more here (spoilers obv) again, its sort of lengthy

1. im gonna start with talking about the ending because i need to get it out of the way. either i havent read the books in a while and i forgot some canon (which could very well be true, i literally forgot that Bliss was a thing) or this ending makes no sense and is (somehow) setting up for a tdc sequel? so first off, newt was shot in the Head with a Bullet and somehow didnt immediately die? i know that that can happen in real life but it just seems so unlikely that not only would he not die, but he would survive long enough for someone from WCKD to transport him back to their labs and try to revive him. and who the fuck was he talking to? did thomas get newt’s journal at some point and i just dont remember? like i said, either im forgetting stuff or this ending doesnt make sense and is setting up a sequel which...i’ll get to later

2. why was this written? like, what was the point? i understand that this wasnt going to be all sunshine and rainbows but i feel like i was reading torture porn. like, literally all that happens is newt gets tortured (which is described in detail) by WCKD soldiers, has bouts of insane-fueled rage where he KILLS MULTIPLE PEOPLE, and then he dies. ??? what did this contribute to the canon? what was this trying to accomplish? truthfully, i never really wanted a newt-POV...well, anything except for maybe those little nuggets he wrote some time ago. but even if i HAD wanted a newt-POV novella, this is not what i would have wanted. he KNOWS that newt is almost universally the most loved character in this franchise. you can tell because he constantly uses him as a way to get fans in his good graces again. so why on earth would he take that character that so many people love and write a novella where its torture porn and a descent into madness before death? i am not interested in that At All. i’ve read fics (and even written a drabble) where newt is a Crank, and those were more respectful and easier to read than tcp. the parts where newt is having bouts of the Flare were literally exhausting to read; it was described in such vivid and torturous detail that it made me sick reading it. and it didnt help that newt is a character i care a lot about. i didn’t need to know what becoming a Crank felt like. the way it was described in the other books (and even the movies) told me everything i needed to know. the way thomas and everyone found newt at the crank palace in tdc and hes described as obviously not well, but not knowing what exactly happened to him...thats good enough on its own. the mystery of what exactly newt had to endure is part of what gives his journey more emotional depth. not everything needs to be written out and explained. not every gap needs to be filled in.

3. me saying “the characterization felt off” is going to make some people roll their eyes because ‘duh, sami, the characterization will be off because he’s going insane’ to which i say...exactly. we weren’t really reading a newt-POV novella, were we? even if he isn’t past the Gone in the beginning, hes clearly not the same person we knew him as. the whole novella felt like an uncanny valley situation; i knew i was supposed to be reading about newt, but it felt like i was reading about someone else who looked like him. and that is part of what made this such a disconnect and made me lose interest at parts. not only that, but the world building and lore is inconsistent. newt makes a comment about how it used to rain in the glade, and apparently (as ive been told) that is simply not true. keisha having somehow working cell phone that magically connects her to her family also doesnt make sense. how would they have each others’ numbers? what are the odds that they BOTH found working cell phones in an apocalypse? i get that its a novella but you cant just throw something that crazy in there as a plot convenience. actually work on your plot and world building in a cohesive way, please. and another thing that doesnt make sense...

4. ...is newt finding out that sonya is his sister. if there was anything i would have wanted from a newt-pov novella, it would have been this. him finding out that not only is sonya his sister, but he already knows her post-WCKD. something that would have made this novella actually captivating, contributing something worthwhile to the canon that i would actually want to read, is if newt found out while in the crank palace that sonya was his sister; the Flare would remove that part of the Slice in his brain, and he would realize it was her. then, knowing that he couldnt go past the Gone before seeing her, he would try to find a way to get back to her. he could learn this after thomas and everyone originally see him, so it could match up with the canon. and then, by the time 250 comes along, hes lost all hope of that actually happening, and lashes out to thomas in a fit of rage. the journey of him trying to find his ACTUAL sister would have meant more to me than the story of keisha and dante. trust me, i love a found family trope as much as the next girl. but this series is FULL of the found family trope. it pretty much is the backbone of the franchise. so to see a blood family dynamic would have been a refreshing change of pace that i actually would have been interested in reading. also, the way that newt DOES find out about sonya is...underwhelming. he just randomly says “you remind me of my sister, sonya” to keisha in the WCKD truck. first of all, sonya is not the name you would actually know her by. you would know her by her birth name (which is lizzy? elizabeth?). second, why does he act like he didnt already meet her in the series? when the WCKD doctor tells him sonya is his sister and is alive, hes so surprised. wouldn’t he have known that already? why is there not more emphasis on the fact he already met her? that would have been a really interesting dynamic to explore, and im sad they didnt

5. the pacing and dialogue of tcp is so dragged out. i remember specifically there was a section where newt goes to talk to keisha after she starts abandoning dante, and i swear to god there was a page and a half of text before anything ACTUALLY happened or anyone ACTUALLY said anything. dashner described a launcher at one point as “the energy dependent electric firing projectile device.” that’s SIX words to describe a stun gun. a fucking stun gun! we know what it is! why did you have to use six words??? it just felt like everything was dragged and stretched to the longest it could possibly be and it added to the exhaustion i felt while reading it

6. okay i cant end it without talking about newtmas. its very obvious by now that newtmas is a VERY large part of this fanbase. its clearly the most popular ship and what keeps a lot of people interested in this series. even the marketing team for the MOVIES used newtmas as a advertising tactic (i.e.; using thomas and newt standing face to face as a thumbnail for the trailer, emphasizing newtmas based questions in interviews, even making a fucking facebook memories video for them. yes that last one is real). not only does dashner use newt as a way to lure fans in; he also uses newtmas. the parts that were sprinkled into this were so obvious that it didnt feel authentic. i cant speak for the original trilogy; i dont know the culture around ships back then, and i dont know how much it influenced his writing at the time. but the scenes in those books felt more genuine than tcp. by genuine i mean; he wrote scenes without a relationship in mind, but the chemistry had noticeable subtext that, while unintentional, was largely agreed upon by the larger audience. the parts of newtmas he added into tcp felt artificial and forced, likely as a way for people to take snippets of and use as a free marketing tool for him. one example you might have already seen; “he had already gotten used to his post-thomas, post-WCKD life.” the fact that dashner SPECIFICALLY used the phrase “post-thomas” rather than “post-his friends” or something similar shows that he is using newtmas as a hook on purpose. not only that, but to make newt’s last thoughts as he died “tommy. tommy will understand...” is...wow. first of all, i never wanted to know what newt’s dying thoughts were, but thanks, i guess? and second, when we all initially thought newt died underneath thomas with a gun to his head, i was pretty much inferred that newts last thoughts would probably be about thomas; they would sort of have to be, given the circumstances. so adding that in gives me the same feeling that “i’m coming for you, newt” at the end of the fever code gave me. not as offensive, but written very much on purpose. and the ending is implying that there will somehow be a sequel where thomas gets newt’s journal from...someone. at this point, i can only think that this sequel will retroactively make newtmas canon somehow. now that newt has been confirmed as gay, it could happen. which brings me to my last point...

7. hearing dashner confirm newt is gay was already mind-boggling before. now that i’ve read the crank palace...im angry. im very angry. i think its safe to say that newt is the character that suffers the most in this series. you can argue with me but hes definitely high on the list, if not #1. so; you take this character. you give him a horribly sad arc in the original trilogy, then decide to expand upon it and tell us, your largely QUEER fanbase, exactly how painful and torturous his last days were, in detail. and then you tell us he’s gay. something that is never mentioned in the canon, only in an offhanded reply to a tweet of someone calling you out. on a base level, i can understand why people would be happy. representation (i guess), seeing themselves in the character, having their headcanons be confirmed. great. but what i see is you telling your largely queer fanbase “hey, you see the only confirmed gay character? im going to literally write torture porn about him before killing him off and offer it to you like im providing a service to your community.” how fucked up is that? “hey, kids, if youre gay, you WILL be violently tortured and become violent and a danger to the ones you love. then you will die and your love will never be reciprocated.” what a message! and if he DOES end up retroactively making newtmas “canon” in some weird sequel...i will start foaming at the mouth.
